- 0:09Speaker 1: Ashley Williams. This is a Bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hamewark, a Homewark review podcast. I'm

- 1:21Speaker 2: a little cross promotion here real quick. Just listen to people.
- 1:24Speaker 2: If you like shows outside of the Hallmark universe, like
- 1:28Speaker 2: maybe Reality TV, like maybe Bravo. We recently launched a
- 1:32Speaker 2: brand new podcast. It's called Last to the Party, and
- 1:36Speaker 2: it's a little bit of a switcher roo of the
- 1:38Speaker 2: Girl's Gone Hallmark format in that over there, Wendy's the
- 1:42Speaker 2: expert and I'm the newbie. So we are throwing it
- 1:45Speaker 2: back to Summer House season one, doing a rewatch over there.
- 1:50Speaker 2: We'd love to have you join us. The first couple
- 1:52Speaker 2: of episodes have already dropped in. New episodes of.
- 1:54Speaker 1: That podcast, Last to the Party, drop on Fridays. Let's
- 1:59Speaker 1: Talk to Barcelona with Love with a synopsis. Erica, an
- 2:04Speaker 1: American translator, securrently revises a novel set in Barcelona. Everything
- 2:10Speaker 1: is fine until bookstore owner Miko invites the credited author
- 2:15Speaker 1: Anna to the city for a book signing.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Even though after the airing of this movie, the news
- 2:22Speaker 2: and notes information is still pretty light, we got some
- 2:24Speaker 2: things to tell you. Starting with Ron Oliver directed to
- 2:27Speaker 2: Barcelona with Love. Ron has ninety one directing credits and
- 2:30Speaker 2: is known for directing all three of the Groomsmen movies,
- 2:33Speaker 2: as well as well as The Wedding Veil, Journey and
- 2:35Speaker 2: several Picture Perfect Mysteries movies. Julie Sherman Wolfe wrote the
- 2:41Speaker 2: screenplay for this movie, as well as its sequel to
- 2:44Speaker 2: Barcelona Forever, airing next week.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Julie is one of Hallmark's best writers, having pinned movies
- 2:49Speaker 1: like Holiday, Touchdown, A Chief's Love Story, Holiday Hotline, Field Day,
- 2:54Speaker 1: and so many more.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Ashley Williams and Alison Sweeney share top billing, but it
- 2:59Speaker 2: appears Sweeney takee the lead role in this chapter of
- 3:01Speaker 2: the story. Ali Sweeney stars as Erica. We saw her
- 3:05Speaker 2: earlier this year in Reality Bite, a Hannah Swinson Mystery.
- 3:08Speaker 2: She will return to the role of Hannah in two
- 3:11Speaker 2: upcoming movies, A Pie to Die For and Cooked to Death.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Ashley Williams stars is Anna. Not only did Ashley starr
- 3:17Speaker 2: in two Hallmark movies last year, she also hosted the
- 3:20Speaker 2: Hallmark Plus dating series Small Town Setup. She recently added
- 3:24Speaker 2: another directorial credit to her resume with an episode of
- 3:27Speaker 2: The Rookie on ABC. Alejandro Taus plays Nico. He's a
- 3:31Speaker 2: Spanish actor and is best known for his role as
- 3:33Speaker 2: Ramon in La Korea Blanca, where he has appeared in
- 3:36Speaker 2: ninety nine episodes of the drama series. Javier Santo's plays Matteo,
- 3:42Speaker 2: Erica's bestie. This is Javier's first movie role per his Instagram. Unfortunately,
- 3:48Speaker 2: he is not credited on IMDb, and there are multiple
- 3:52Speaker 2: Javier Santos's on IMDb, so I don't.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Know what his other credits are. Hmmm, what you're saying?
- 4:00Speaker 1: Full newbie?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Huh new to the movie scene. His instagram does show
- 4:05Speaker 2: some stage productions, like he was in a Spanish language
- 4:08Speaker 2: production of Matilda, and I don't know what other projects
- 4:11Speaker 2: he's done.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Got it. Both movies were filmed on location in and
- 4:15Speaker 1: around Barcelona. Earlier this year, Ali and Ashley launched a
- 4:19Speaker 1: podcast to share the process of making these movies with fans.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It's called Mia Moore and two episodes are available now
- 4:26Speaker 1: wherever you listen to podcasts. Let's take a quick break
- 4:30Speaker 1: and come right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy,
- 4:42Speaker 1: what's your first impression of two Barcelona with Loves?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Well?
- 4:46Speaker 1: Look? I also thought that by now I would be
- 4:49Speaker 1: arranging hydrangeas in a Hampton kitchen and wearing linen pants.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Where's my Nancy Meyer's moment? Y'all? Mine is. I'm gonna
- 5:00Speaker 2: need some of the IMDb reviewers to stf you please.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I'm so glad you mentioned it. We are going to
- 5:08Speaker 1: talk about it. It's in my digite.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Thats y'all mess with the wrong two ladies with those reviews,
- 5:13Speaker 2: is all I got to say. Speaking of promoting other projects,
- 5:17Speaker 2: check out Midlife Bestie dot com.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Who you call an old I mean, I'm fired up,
- 5:26Speaker 1: fired up, I'm so glad, I'm so glad you brought it.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Oh, it's like all cap.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I could just do an entire episode.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Sit down and listen, y'all, let's talk about what we liked.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Okay for me? Can I tell you? I'm sure this
- 5:42Speaker 1: might be the same for you. But I love a
- 5:46Speaker 1: co lead movie with two Hallmark heavyweight actresses totally. I mean,
- 5:53Speaker 1: we get so many where like you have your lead
- 5:56Speaker 1: female and like a sidekick. I just love that we
- 5:59Speaker 1: have two queen's like Ashley Williams and Alison Sweeney. They
- 6:05Speaker 1: are sharing the screen. I just love it so very much. Yeah,
- 6:10Speaker 1: I've got some quibbles with the story and some ways
- 6:13Speaker 1: that this movie played out, but just watching the two
- 6:17Speaker 1: of them on screen together was so fun. And I
- 6:19Speaker 1: know we're gonna get the secondary movie, but it they
- 6:22Speaker 1: really did share the screen in this movie. You have
- 6:26Speaker 1: to figure out whose movie it is. Like, who's taking
- 6:29Speaker 1: the lead role in this movie, because they really are
- 6:32Speaker 1: there the focus and you and I talk so much
- 6:35Speaker 1: about like we don't really need the love story, Like
- 6:36Speaker 1: the love story here is fine, but I'm more invested
- 6:39Speaker 1: in these two and I love the way Julie Trumanwolf
- 6:41Speaker 1: brought their friendship to life. Well I'm glad you said
- 6:45Speaker 1: that because my next like is that I am loving
- 6:49Speaker 1: a story based on friendship and the romance feels secondary.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I mean, there's like a lot of romance to it,
- 6:56Speaker 1: but I just love that we have a story that
- 7:02Speaker 1: is about well it's not fully about, but it's heavily
- 7:06Speaker 1: leans into female friendship and I find that so refreshing.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We don't get enough stories like that. And I know
- 7:14Speaker 1: I have said it for a really long time, but
- 7:16Speaker 1: I feel the Hallmark audience is likely made up of
- 7:22Speaker 1: a lot of women and it doesn't all have to
- 7:25Speaker 1: be about romance. There are other relationships to explore, and
- 7:30Speaker 1: I'm glad they did it here. Like I said, there
- 7:32Speaker 1: was still a heavy hand in the romance, but for me,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I thought the magic was their friendship. Absolutely.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Speaking of magic, one thing I really liked about this
- 7:46Speaker 2: movie is the immersive Spanish Barcelona experience me too. I
- 7:51Speaker 2: found it very layered. I've never been to Barcelona, so
- 7:54Speaker 2: I'm not speaking as someone who's like, oh, so my
- 7:55Speaker 2: favorite places in the world. But they use so many
- 7:59Speaker 2: elements to present that experience, like the scenery, some of
- 8:04Speaker 2: the main attractions that I'm not going to try to pronounce,
- 8:08Speaker 2: the food, the sun, Jordie Day details. I did read
- 8:12Speaker 2: some criticism of Ali Sweeney's Spanish and I would just
- 8:16Speaker 2: like to say I think she did fine. Also, she
- 8:18Speaker 2: spoke Spanish prior to this movie. I read a blurb
- 8:22Speaker 2: about how this movie came to be and it was
- 8:26Speaker 2: literally Ashley Williams having the idea.
- 8:28Speaker 1: For like, I wish I could write a book.
- 8:30Speaker 2: The only way I could ever write a book is
- 8:32Speaker 2: if I wrote it and someone translated it and changed
- 8:33Speaker 2: the story.
- 8:34Speaker 1: How do I make that happen? And then she met
- 8:36Speaker 1: with Julie Sherman Walt, do you know this story? No,
- 8:39Speaker 1: she met with Julie Sherman Wolf in a bar and
- 8:41Speaker 1: was like, Hey, I want to make this happen, and
- 8:43Speaker 1: Julie was like, okay, but we need another lead Hallmark actress.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And the way Ashley tells it is Ali walked by,
- 8:49Speaker 1: so they must have been at some hallmark thing, I'm assuming,
- 8:53Speaker 1: and they were like, hey, Ali, do you speak another language?
- 8:56Speaker 1: And she was like Spanish and asked. He was like,
- 8:58Speaker 1: it's set in Barcelona, so it it works, right. I
- 9:03Speaker 1: was so hoping that this was a conversation that took
- 9:06Speaker 1: place on the cruise. Unfortunately, Ali Sweeney was not on
- 9:09Speaker 1: our cruise, so okay, but go ahead. But I thought
- 9:13Speaker 1: they did a really nice job making Barcelona its own character.
- 9:18Speaker 2: The setting really had a chance to shine. It wasn't
- 9:21Speaker 2: Barcelona as shot in Bulgaria. I mean it was Barcelona
- 9:25Speaker 2: in Barcelona, and I think the location really shines.
- 9:28Speaker 1: In the movie. Stunning. I want to shout out Ron Oliver.
- 9:32Speaker 1: There were some really beautiful scenes. There's one where our
- 9:37Speaker 1: characters Erica and Anna, I think if they're in some
- 9:40Speaker 1: sort of cathedral or something, I don't know, but it's
- 9:44Speaker 1: tight on their face and then at the end of
- 9:45Speaker 1: the scene it pulls back and they're just this beautiful
- 9:48Speaker 1: stained glasses behind them. It's stunning. It was so stunning.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And to piggyback on your comment, I think, as someone
- 9:58Speaker 1: who doesn't speak Spanish, I thought they really did a
- 10:04Speaker 1: nice job weaving in Spanish and English throughout the script.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It felt authentic and most importantly respectful to me, And
- 10:15Speaker 1: they didn't just like throw in like some phrases just
- 10:18Speaker 1: to give it like that flavor. Like there were she
- 10:21Speaker 1: she Erica and Nico are having a conversation in Spanish
- 10:25Speaker 1: and she's translating like what he's saying so that you
- 10:29Speaker 1: could understand. I just thought it it was really well done.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I agree. I think it was important for the movie
- 10:34Speaker 2: to do it that way. Your authentic is.
- 10:36Speaker 1: The right word. Yeah, I thought it was really really well.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Speaking of Julie Shermanwolf, We've been big fans of hers
- 10:45Speaker 1: for a long time since, like the very beginning when
- 10:48Speaker 1: we started our podcast, she was if you don't know,
- 10:51Speaker 1: was our first guest. I think she gets it, like yeah,
- 10:56Speaker 1: she writes with a lot of humor, and I love
- 11:00Speaker 1: all the little zingers like throughout this script totally. For example,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I mentioned it ap top the Nancy Meyers line. Loved
- 11:08Speaker 1: it so very much when Anna she's she's so silly,
- 11:14Speaker 1: She's trying to say grossiest but she's like, I'm trying
- 11:16Speaker 1: to do that whole thch thing. Oh yeah, I laughed.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I just thought there was a lot of clever writing,
- 11:23Speaker 1: and I enjoy it. That's what I like in my
- 11:26Speaker 1: Homemark movie. I agree, I have a couple smaller likes.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I like the way the story was revealed in the beginning.
- 11:34Speaker 1: That's a nod to Julie Sherman Wolf's writing. Like the
- 11:37Speaker 1: way we get the back and forth of Erica and
- 11:39Speaker 1: Anna's character and we know there's something going on with
- 11:42Speaker 1: Erica but we don't know what it is. And the
- 11:45Speaker 1: reveal that Erica rewrote the book upon translating it. I
- 11:50Speaker 1: really loved that. I loved the twist. It felt like
- 11:53Speaker 1: the kind of book I would read like I would
- 11:55Speaker 1: read a book with that plot and I'd be all
- 11:57Speaker 1: in on it. And then a couple of little rapid
- 12:01Speaker 1: fire likes Alie rapidly cleaning when Nico comes over, super relatable. Yes,
- 12:07Speaker 1: Anna's selfies are actual selfies like the book instead of
- 12:12Speaker 1: like pretending to take a selfie. And then they throw
- 12:14Speaker 1: in some non selfie shot. Great, and finally there's a
- 12:18Speaker 1: really interesting shot when Erica is discovering Anna's food writing
- 12:25Speaker 1: and we see a video of Anna walking and talking,
- 12:28Speaker 1: but we hear the voice in Erica's voice because she's
- 12:31Speaker 1: reading it on the computer. It's a really cool, interesting
- 12:36Speaker 1: choice of a shot. Yeah, I thank you for pointing
- 12:40Speaker 1: that out. I noticed that too, and I was like,
- 12:42Speaker 1: that's so smart, so smart. We didn't really mention it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: But can we talk about Ashley Williams and Alison Sweeney
- 12:51Speaker 1: for a minute. Yeah. First of all, Ashley Williams is
- 12:55Speaker 1: my sunshine queen. I will I will fight you, not you, Megan.
- 13:00Speaker 1: I will fight anyone listening if they're even going to
- 13:02Speaker 1: bring any negativity to Ashley Williams. I love her. I
- 13:08Speaker 1: love the optimism she brings to this character, and I
- 13:14Speaker 1: dare anyone to try and dull her sparkle. I think
- 13:19Speaker 1: she's amazing, not just because we had her on the show,
- 13:22Speaker 1: because we really enjoyed our conversation with her that day. Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: she was great. But I loved her as Anna too,
- 13:32Speaker 1: And I know there's a lot of pushback. I read
- 13:35Speaker 1: the criticism about her as this character of Anna. I
- 13:39Speaker 1: liked it. I'm sorry, I liked it. I thought that
- 13:42Speaker 1: the character of Anna was both both hear me out,
- 13:46Speaker 1: a little unself aware, but also deeply self aware and
- 13:51Speaker 1: like the most human way a human operates, like it
- 13:55Speaker 1: really resonated with the fact that she realizes we're seeing
- 13:59Speaker 1: it in real time, that like, she's not a good novelist, right,
- 14:04Speaker 1: and what she is good at she doesn't really want
- 14:08Speaker 1: to do because it's not who she has become, that's
- 14:12Speaker 1: not who she thinks she is. Yeah. Yes, and it
- 14:15Speaker 1: was too hard for her to imagine pivoting. I felt
- 14:20Speaker 1: that it was very relatable. Yeah. I have a lot
- 14:24Speaker 1: of thoughts about Ashley Williams's character in My Wishes, and
- 14:26Speaker 1: it's not a knock on her. It's not a knock
- 14:28Speaker 1: on the character at all.
- 14:30Speaker 2: But you're right. I do think she's relatable. I do
- 14:33Speaker 2: think the idea that she is living her life one
- 14:37Speaker 2: way because she has come to believe that that is
- 14:39Speaker 2: who she is supposed to be, But it's not really
- 14:43Speaker 2: a what she's good at or be what she wants
- 14:46Speaker 2: to be doing. She just is kind of going through
- 14:48Speaker 2: the motions. I think it's relatable, especially we're going to
- 14:51Speaker 2: talk about it at her age. I think it's very
- 14:57Speaker 2: realistic to be like, oh shit, what am I doing
- 14:59Speaker 2: with my right?
- 15:01Speaker 1: Right? I agree, That's why I it totally resonated with me.
- 15:05Speaker 1: I just loved it Allie. I thought she was great.
- 15:10Speaker 1: I actually really liked Allie Sweeney in this role speaking,
- 15:14Speaker 1: you know, because we own we often only see Ali
- 15:17Speaker 1: as Hannah Swinson. And we saw Allie last Holiday season
- 15:22Speaker 1: in that Crystal Low movie where she was like clean
- 15:25Speaker 1: that separated on their way to divorce couple with Niale Mater,
- 15:30Speaker 1: and she was really good in that role too. She's
- 15:32Speaker 1: a really good actor. I wish we saw her in
- 15:35Speaker 1: more outside of Hannah Swinson. Yeah, this character actually reminded
- 15:41Speaker 1: me of her character Tracy from The Wedding Veil. Tracy
- 15:44Speaker 1: is the least idealistic of the three. She has the
- 15:47Speaker 1: dry humor, she's the realist. She's the one I relate
- 15:51Speaker 1: to the most in that trilogy, and I felt like
- 15:55Speaker 1: I saw notes of that character here. She I think
- 16:00Speaker 1: she's a little bit of a realist. She's a little
- 16:02Speaker 1: bit of a pessimist. Her her humor is real, dry, real, relatable.
- 16:06Speaker 1: She tells it like it is to Anna when she's like,
- 16:09Speaker 1: you gotta get your head in the game like this,
- 16:11Speaker 1: You're not the only one with something on the line here.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I really loved her character, and she's the one that
- 16:19Speaker 2: I relate to more of the two of.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Them Okay, But with that said, I did think she
- 16:24Speaker 1: kind of rolled over sometimes to Anna, especially when it
- 16:29Speaker 1: came to Nico. Anna gives her the opportunity. Anna asks
- 16:33Speaker 1: her straight out, are you in too? Nico? Those are
- 16:36Speaker 1: not the words I'm what's the word I'm looking for? Paraphrasing.
- 16:42Speaker 1: It's a misopportunity. She could have said, yes, I'm interested
- 16:46Speaker 1: in him, and I believe that Anna would have backed off.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I one hundred percent agree with you. I think she
- 16:53Speaker 2: had written this story in her head, Erica that she
- 16:56Speaker 2: and Nico were just friends and that's all she wanted,
- 16:59Speaker 2: and so regardless of how she felt, I think she
- 17:01Speaker 2: felt like it didn't matter because he had told her
- 17:04Speaker 2: we're just friends, so it didn't feel worth it to
- 17:08Speaker 2: her to pursue that. Like, why am I going to
- 17:10Speaker 2: tell Anna to back off if I don't actually have
- 17:13Speaker 2: a chance with him?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Got it? I get it, I get it. Can we
- 17:18Speaker 1: move under our wishes? Because I have some big thoughts
- 17:19Speaker 1: on Ego. Okay, they're not they're not huge, but but
- 17:26Speaker 1: the pivot he makes from Anna to Erica at the
- 17:29Speaker 1: end feels icky to me. Yeah, it's weird how all
- 17:35Speaker 1: in he is on Anna to me right, when he's
- 17:41Speaker 1: then saying like, no, it's you're the I mean, I
- 17:44Speaker 1: guess you could take to Anna one as just being
- 17:46Speaker 1: very surface, like he was moved by her words, but
- 17:49Speaker 1: her words were actually Erica's words, So he was actually
- 17:52Speaker 1: being moved by Erica's words.
- 17:54Speaker 2: You know, he never had an actual connection with Anna.
- 17:57Speaker 2: She doesn't even have a real conversation with him. It's
- 17:59Speaker 2: all through Erica, right, And so I guess if you
- 18:02Speaker 2: look at it from that perspective that all that time
- 18:05Speaker 2: with Anna, he was really with Ericica.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Well. I feel like almost he had like romanticized what
- 18:14Speaker 1: Anna would be like through the book. Yeah, for sure.
- 18:19Speaker 1: So she calms and he's like, oh, I'm into her
- 18:22Speaker 1: just simply because of what she's written, right, And that
- 18:26Speaker 1: felt weird to me too, Like I just was like,
- 18:30Speaker 1: what is happening here? And then when he realizes that
- 18:34Speaker 1: Anna is not the one who wrote the book, but
- 18:36Speaker 1: it was Erica, and he's like, oh, cool, you're the
- 18:38Speaker 1: talented what now? I like you? Just I I didn't
- 18:42Speaker 1: like it. I liked him, Like part of me I
- 18:45Speaker 1: was like, oh, this is like the Spanish Clooney, right,
- 18:48Speaker 1: like there was something happening there. Like I'm very handsome.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I enjoyed him as Nico was something fun to watch,
- 18:55Speaker 1: but I just I don't know, it just felt rush
- 19:00Speaker 1: in so many ways. M hmmm, all right, well, I'd
- 19:03Speaker 1: like to read a review from IMDb. Is this a wish? Yeah? Okay,
- 19:09Speaker 1: it's titled Two Old Mothers in Barcelona. Yes, I read it.
- 19:12Speaker 2: This movie would have been interesting if the two leads
- 19:14Speaker 2: were not in their forties running around Barcelona as if
- 19:17Speaker 2: they were in their twenties. Perhaps Hallmark is turning into
- 19:20Speaker 2: the senior citizen programming channel. I will not be watching
- 19:23Speaker 2: part two in the future. Okay, okay, let's break it down. Stop,
- 19:26Speaker 2: let's let's read it.
- 19:27Speaker 1: There's more. First of all, I take issue with so
- 19:31Speaker 1: much of this. I'm forty five.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I'm not dead. Yeah, I have to be twenty to
- 19:35Speaker 2: run around Barcelona and have fun. You finally have disposable
- 19:39Speaker 2: income and you can't come on, forty five year old
- 19:42Speaker 2: people can have fun too, y'all. Secondly, forty five is
- 19:48Speaker 2: not a senior citizen, thank you very much. Third of all,
- 19:51Speaker 2: Hallmark is the senior citizen channel.
- 19:53Speaker 1: What are you talking about? They're demo is absolutely forty
- 19:56Speaker 1: to sixty five come on, yeah, Agary.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Really, Mostly what I take issue with is none of
- 20:02Speaker 2: what these women are experiencing is proprietary.
- 20:06Speaker 1: To young women. This is not a twenty year old
- 20:11Speaker 1: woman's experience just because they are experiencing romance. That it
- 20:16Speaker 1: may have been the same comment or the same review,
- 20:20Speaker 1: or it might have been another but somebody had said
- 20:24Speaker 1: that it was unbelievable that these two women would would
- 20:29Speaker 1: want to then find love and have a family because
- 20:33Speaker 1: they're too old. Come on, And I just thought was like,
- 20:37Speaker 1: your life is not over if you were not in
- 20:39Speaker 1: your forever relationship in your four days people for real.
- 20:43Speaker 1: The other thing, too, is like, I okay, I have
- 20:45Speaker 1: some mixed feelings on it a little bit. I agree
- 20:49Speaker 1: like ninety ninety percent with you. I do have a
- 20:52Speaker 1: little bit of mixed feelings, Like I think the story
- 20:54Speaker 1: they could have made maybe well they did talk about
- 21:00Speaker 1: it's not Hannah in my head, I keep calling her,
- 21:02Speaker 1: want to call her Hannah Erica. Yeah, Erica. They made
- 21:05Speaker 1: Erica have she had followed some dude to Barcelona or whatever, right,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and then it didn't work out, like they could have
- 21:12Speaker 1: made one of them like divorced mm hmm. And then
- 21:16Speaker 1: maybe that checks that box for the viewer who's bothered
- 21:20Speaker 1: by their age, You know what I mean.
- 21:22Speaker 2: No one's complaining about the actor who plays Nico, who
- 21:26Speaker 2: is forty eight years old. Yeah, no, no one's complaining
- 21:31Speaker 2: about him because people hate women.
- 21:33Speaker 1: I know, igan, I know.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Speaking of hating women, I saw a lot of complaints
- 21:41Speaker 2: about Ashley Williams in this movie, and that's not what
- 21:43Speaker 2: I'm going to do here. But I do have a
- 21:44Speaker 2: wish about her character, and it is that I hope
- 21:47Speaker 2: we see some growth from her in the second movie,
- 21:51Speaker 2: because I think in this movie, as discussed, she doesn't
- 21:56Speaker 2: fully know who she is. She doesn't know who she
- 21:59Speaker 2: is is in her job. She falls for this man
- 22:03Speaker 2: who she actually doesn't have a connection with because she
- 22:06Speaker 2: is at no point being herself. There's just a Spanish
- 22:11Speaker 2: romance on vacation handsome man, but that's it. I just
- 22:16Speaker 2: want to see in the next movie, where I think
- 22:19Speaker 2: we're going to see perhaps I'd be shocked if she
- 22:21Speaker 2: doesn't have her own romantic interest in the next movie.
- 22:23Speaker 2: I just want to see her come into herself, understand
- 22:26Speaker 2: who she is, and see a fuller picture of who
- 22:30Speaker 2: she is in the next movie.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Yeah, that's gonna be interesting how the next movie plays out,
- 22:38Speaker 1: because what's gonna happen with the Erica? You know, well,
- 22:41Speaker 1: Nico's in the next movie, so you know, I don't know.
- 22:45Speaker 2: I don't know what the storyline's going to be there.
- 22:48Speaker 2: You know, probably something food related, right, She's going to
- 22:51Speaker 2: meet someone in her food.
- 22:53Speaker 1: I know what's going to be the bestie guy, like
- 22:55Speaker 1: the Mateo guy. That's who I thought Mateo's gay and
- 23:00Speaker 1: a relationship with a man. How do I miss that?
- 23:04Speaker 2: I don't know? But they go on a date, they
- 23:07Speaker 2: go out.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Did I miss that?
- 23:08Speaker 2: Erica and Nico and Matteo and the other guy whose
- 23:11Speaker 2: name I don't know why because it's not credited on IMDb?
- 23:13Speaker 2: And we realized that Matteo and the other guy are
- 23:15Speaker 2: into each other, and Nico's like, I always thought you
- 23:18Speaker 2: were into Mateo and she was like, and he goes,
- 23:20Speaker 2: I see now that that could not have been the case.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Fully missed it. Yep, what a dummy. God, Sorry, I'm
- 23:28Speaker 1: a bad movie reviewer. Okay, but wait, I have to
- 23:32Speaker 1: pull up the movie poster for the next movie, because
- 23:35Speaker 1: I swear this is Matteo in this picture. It might
- 23:41Speaker 1: be he might facilitate Miguel bracap Broca b ro Occa.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Is that who played Mateo? Uh No, Mateo is played
- 23:50Speaker 1: by Javier Santos. Okay, well there is another dude. Yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 1: my bad. I totally thought this was Mateo and then
- 23:58Speaker 1: God's look such a don't me? Oh? Well, okay, I
- 24:01Speaker 1: reader for did you see that? I am? I've just
- 24:04Speaker 1: a few little things.
- 24:05Speaker 2: When you made a point about Julie Truman Wolf's lines,
- 24:07Speaker 2: I absolutely loved her publisher asking her if she had
- 24:10Speaker 2: seen the good review for her book, and she was like,
- 24:12Speaker 2: you told me never to look at good Reads.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Laughed out loud at that one, because you're a Goodreads user. Yeah,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and never read the reviews, never read the comments, you know.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I thought, don't you write reviews on there?
- 24:22Speaker 2: No?
- 24:22Speaker 1: Never? Never, No, I thought you did. Never.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I don't write books on there. I don't write reviews
- 24:29Speaker 2: on there. I just record the books I have read
- 24:31Speaker 2: on there. At the end, did the super Mare Coups
- 24:34Speaker 2: scene give you I would like to exchange an egg
- 24:36Speaker 2: from early nine O two one?
- 24:37Speaker 1: Oh, it absolutely did. Yep, A sub frequently. That's a
- 24:43Speaker 1: real deep cut. If people are not nine on fans,
- 24:47Speaker 1: if you didn't grow up in the early nineties and
- 24:49Speaker 1: watch Beverly Hills line on two and oh you don't
- 24:51Speaker 1: get the reference. You're not too senior citizens like we
- 24:54Speaker 1: are two old mobs.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Also, there is a line in the movie laughter is contagious,
- 25:00Speaker 2: Optimism is a choice. Do you know who wrote that line?
- 25:03Speaker 2: It's Julie Sherman Waugh, No, Paul Campbell. They texted her
- 25:06Speaker 2: they needed a real zinga of a line. Ashley Williams
- 25:08Speaker 2: posted on TikTok she and Ali are in hair and
- 25:12Speaker 2: makeup talking about it, and Paul Campbell came through with
- 25:15Speaker 2: that line via text.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Sounds cute.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Finally, I was looking at the description of the meam
- 25:22Speaker 2: More podcast with Ali Speeney and Ashley Williams, and the
- 25:25Speaker 2: description says, join Ali speene and Ashley Williams for unfiltered,
- 25:29Speaker 2: laugh out loud conversations as they travel across the world
- 25:32Speaker 2: to make two rom Com TV. Those were in all
- 25:36Speaker 2: caps movies together rom Com TV. They specifically do not
- 25:40Speaker 2: say Hallmark, don't you find that interesting?
- 25:43Speaker 1: Sort of tell me why you find it interesting? Well,
- 25:46Speaker 1: they're trying to not say Homewark because people are going
- 25:48Speaker 1: to see that and go, oh, I don't want to
- 25:50Speaker 1: watch that.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Hallmark will get mad at them. That's my concern. That's
- 25:53Speaker 2: my that's like, why would you specifically not say Hallmark?
- 25:57Speaker 2: I just find it interesting.
- 25:58Speaker 1: I don't know what do you got, Justine. It goes
- 26:02Speaker 1: back to one of Ashley Williams's selfies as Anna she
- 26:08Speaker 1: takes there's somebody behind the counter and she's taking a
- 26:11Speaker 1: picture of them, and when you see her snapping the picture,
- 26:15Speaker 1: the person is like waving. But then you see the
- 26:18Speaker 1: picture and the person's giving like a peace sign. Oh
- 26:21Speaker 1: that's a true. Did you see that? That's a true?
- 26:23Speaker 1: Did you see that? Yeah? Would you rate this movie?
- 26:27Speaker 1: I gave it four stars. I think it's easily one
- 26:29Speaker 1: of the best we've seen all year. Granted there has
- 26:31Speaker 1: not been many, but.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Yeah, February was a good month, but I gave it
- 26:34Speaker 2: three point seventy five stars.
- 26:37Speaker 1: MM.
