- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, I sure will come on. And everybody you
- 0:07Speaker 1: are listening to the voice, oh, come on, dig me now,
- 0:10Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey Man got a radio show,
- 0:15Speaker 1: borl borl boy. I can't even tell you, man. I've
- 0:21Speaker 1: been doing some thinking and and one of the things
- 0:25Speaker 1: that I wanted to mention today to you as one
- 0:28Speaker 1: of the principles of success, being grateful at all times
- 0:36Speaker 1: is difficult to do. Being grateful at all times is
- 0:44Speaker 1: very difficult to do. I find that to be true
- 0:48Speaker 1: with myself. Now there are others that might be able
- 0:50Speaker 1: to do it, but just from talking and listening and
- 0:55Speaker 1: living and learning, being grateful at all times is difficult
- 1:00Speaker 1: to do. But it's necessary because it's such an act
- 1:06Speaker 1: of faith in knowing that no matter what's going on,
- 1:11Speaker 1: it's going to be alright. And it's hard to see
- 1:15Speaker 1: that when things are not going in your favor, when
- 1:19Speaker 1: things have turned so dramatically the other way, and it
- 1:24Speaker 1: seems as though you're the only one in the situation
- 1:28Speaker 1: where you're involved with other people, or someone got an
- 1:31Speaker 1: accusation against you falsely, or somebody trying to do something
- 1:34Speaker 1: to you unjustifiably, whatever the case may be. When it's
- 1:39Speaker 1: happening to you. It does appear to you that, oh,
- 1:43Speaker 1: my goodness, man, this is horribly one sided. So it
- 1:49Speaker 1: is difficult. It is hard to do to be grateful
- 1:52Speaker 1: at all times, but it's so necessary. And I just
- 1:57Speaker 1: want to point out a couple of things to you.
- 2:00Speaker 1: First of all, the difficulty in being grateful in hard
- 2:04Speaker 1: times is that number one, the present circumstances. Oftentimes it
- 2:11Speaker 1: is just so pressing and so overwhelming that a lot
- 2:15Speaker 1: of your energy is devoted to trying to come up
- 2:18Speaker 1: with the solution for that, or trying to muster the
- 2:21Speaker 1: strength to whether the storm, or trying to just brace
- 2:24Speaker 1: yourself to try to get through it, and in doing that,
- 2:29Speaker 1: you don't. It's hard to be grateful. It's hard to
- 2:33Speaker 1: be grateful in pain, and I know it is. But
- 2:37Speaker 1: here is the trick for me. This is what I've
- 2:41Speaker 1: had to learn how to do, and I guess it
- 2:45Speaker 1: takes practice to get here. It's not nothing you just
- 2:48Speaker 1: start doing right away. You got to practice it in
- 2:50Speaker 1: small increments to really get it. What I've always had
- 2:54Speaker 1: to say to myself and what I've learned to say
- 2:56Speaker 1: to myself is this is happening to me because God
- 3:01Speaker 1: is working me through something. This is happening to me
- 3:06Speaker 1: because it's some form of tests that I have to
- 3:09Speaker 1: pass in order to graduate to the next grade, and
- 3:13Speaker 1: that in order to be allowed to move to the
- 3:15Speaker 1: next level. This is happening to me because there's something
- 3:20Speaker 1: I need to purge my life, of my body, of
- 3:25Speaker 1: my spirit, of something's purging in me. And when you
- 3:29Speaker 1: purge something, it's it's painful. You know, it's like a
- 3:32Speaker 1: person getting off drugs. The withdrawal is agonizing. I've been
- 3:38Speaker 1: told and every documentary I've ever watched it it's an
- 3:41Speaker 1: agonizing process to go cold turkey, to withdraw, to pull
- 3:47Speaker 1: away after you've been doing something so long. And so
- 3:51Speaker 1: I know that this process is tough when you're going
- 3:56Speaker 1: through some pain. But when you're purging yoursel system, when
- 4:01Speaker 1: you're when you're when you're having to pass a test,
- 4:04Speaker 1: when you're about to make when when you're being made
- 4:08Speaker 1: ready for the next level, that moment right in there,
- 4:12Speaker 1: in realizing that that's what's happening, that's where you find
- 4:16Speaker 1: the gratitude. That's where I found the gratitude. I hope
- 4:20Speaker 1: I'm explaining this correctly. I'm gonna keep trying until I
- 4:23Speaker 1: get it. But that's where you find the gratitude. The
- 4:28Speaker 1: second part of it is is that God has never
- 4:33Speaker 1: left me in all the things I've done, in all
- 4:36Speaker 1: the mistakes I've made, all the lies I've told, all
- 4:41Speaker 1: the situations I've gotten myself into from being greedy and
- 4:46Speaker 1: wanting too much for me at the expense sometimes of
- 4:52Speaker 1: other people. Not doing it deliberately or in a vindictive way,
- 4:58Speaker 1: because I've never had that. I'm not a vindictive or
- 5:02Speaker 1: mean person, but sometimes in my life, in wanting to
- 5:07Speaker 1: do what I wanted to do, I didn't totally weigh
- 5:10Speaker 1: out the cause and effect of the other person. I mean,
- 5:14Speaker 1: can I just be real with you with that? I mean,
- 5:17Speaker 1: how many times we'd have all done that? Look, it
- 5:19Speaker 1: doesn't It don't make you a bad person. You know,
- 5:23Speaker 1: good people do bad things all the time. I just
- 5:26Speaker 1: happened to have come to the realization that unknowingly and
- 5:32Speaker 1: and not and not with malice intent towards a person,
- 5:38Speaker 1: I've hurt people looking at something I wanted to do
- 5:43Speaker 1: without really looking at what the cause and effect would
- 5:47Speaker 1: be on the other person. So in doing some of
- 5:51Speaker 1: these things, I've created situations for myself. But God, through
- 5:55Speaker 1: his grace and mercy, has allowed me to even get
- 5:59Speaker 1: beyond that. So what I'm saying that God has never
- 6:02Speaker 1: left me in spite of myself. He's always gotten me through.
- 6:07Speaker 1: So that's the other part of it too. See that
- 6:10Speaker 1: no matter what you're going through, you've got to understand
- 6:13Speaker 1: that God has always gotten you through it now has
- 6:16Speaker 1: any Now that may not be the way you want
- 6:18Speaker 1: it or the way you liked, But guess what, you
- 6:21Speaker 1: can't do wrong and not pay for that. Now that
- 6:23Speaker 1: that's not how this works. That's never going to be
- 6:26Speaker 1: the case. But the great thing about God is he
- 6:29Speaker 1: fires warning shots at us all the time. He gives
- 6:32Speaker 1: us an opportunity to stop. You know, He don't fully
- 6:35Speaker 1: punish us right away every time we do something wrong.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Now does it? You know eventually you're going to get
- 6:42Speaker 1: caught doing whatever it is you're doing. You do understand that,
- 6:45Speaker 1: don't you. But the first time, that close call, that
- 6:49Speaker 1: was a warning shot for you to stop. Look, I
- 6:52Speaker 1: know you're not perfect. I know we all sin us
- 6:54Speaker 1: down here, so I know you're gonna make mistakes. One time,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I know you was looking at her when you weren't
- 6:58Speaker 1: supposed to. I know you I said something to him
- 7:01Speaker 1: when you wasn't supposed to. I know you got with
- 7:03Speaker 1: her when you know you wasn't supposed to. And I
- 7:06Speaker 1: know you got with him when you know you weren't
- 7:08Speaker 1: supposed to. So I tell you what I'm gonna do.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I'm a fire warning shot. And maybe you'll slow your
- 7:13Speaker 1: roll this time. But we keep on though. See see,
- 7:16Speaker 1: see that's what happens. See we just keep on and
- 7:19Speaker 1: then the next thing, you know, we get caught. Now,
- 7:22Speaker 1: Oh Lord, have mercy. I want out of this. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 1: well see you done dug this hole pretty deep and
- 7:28Speaker 1: he gonna get you out. But it's some things that's
- 7:30Speaker 1: got to go down now because you didn't pay attention
- 7:33Speaker 1: to the warning shot. See, had you stopped the first time,
- 7:36Speaker 1: you felt bad about it and said you wasn't gonna
- 7:38Speaker 1: do it no more, the situation wouldn't be as critical.
- 7:41Speaker 1: But because we don't stop, and we go again. But
- 7:44Speaker 1: God always forgives, He always allows us to get back
- 7:51Speaker 1: up again. He always gives us mercy, He always gives
- 7:56Speaker 1: us his grace. He always does that. To the Steve
