Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to the program here on
- 0:03Speaker 1: Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. My name is
- 0:06Speaker 1: Craig Way. Glad to have you with us here on
- 0:08Speaker 1: this Tuesday afternoon. By us, I mean I'm, of course,
- 0:13Speaker 1: including the producer, a lifelong Cowboys fan like his father.
- 0:17Speaker 1: That's why the D in his middle name on the
- 0:20Speaker 1: birth certificate says Dallas. It's Cameron D. Parker. The D
- 0:24Speaker 1: for Dallas, but D for another Dallas defeat last night
- 0:30Speaker 1: as they lost to the Houston Texans thirty four to ten.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I asked you, you know, because you said you can
- 0:35Speaker 1: be packing for New York because we leave after today's
- 0:37Speaker 1: show to go travel with the Texas men's basketball team
- 0:41Speaker 1: up to Brooklyn for their games that will happen on
- 0:44Speaker 1: Thursday and Friday at the Legends Classic. I said, well,
- 0:46Speaker 1: you could have it on while, you know, and you
- 0:47Speaker 1: were like, no, and did you watch?
- 0:53Speaker 2: Did not watch it?
- 0:54Speaker 1: Now?
- 0:54Speaker 2: I did because I had Nico Collins playing, and so
- 0:58Speaker 2: you were keeping up on the e ESPN fancy app
- 1:01Speaker 2: it'll send you notification when the players in the red zone.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 2: So when I got that, I would I would hop
- 1:06Speaker 2: on pop up the ESPN stream just to see if
- 1:08Speaker 2: they would throw the Nico Collins I did not. I
- 1:11Speaker 2: lost by forty points anyway, so I don't even know
- 1:12Speaker 2: why I was checking it, but I was. I was
- 1:15Speaker 2: checking Twitter. I did see a lot of good things
- 1:19Speaker 2: about the Marvin overshown. I did see that Brendon Aubrey
- 1:22Speaker 2: missed a field goal, had a sixty four yard or
- 1:25Speaker 2: that did not count yep, which is unfortunate. Saw some
- 1:28Speaker 2: Texans fans being a little frustrated because it was a
- 1:31Speaker 2: ten point game and the Cowboys I think had the
- 1:33Speaker 2: ball Craig, but then I did not confer the fourth down,
- 1:36Speaker 2: and then the final.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Two points off the board. It would have been twenty
- 1:40Speaker 1: thirteen because of the penalty. They went for it, went
- 1:43Speaker 1: for it and then in complete passed the fourth down,
- 1:46Speaker 1: and then even then they got a stop and got
- 1:47Speaker 1: the ball back, and then that's when the double fumble. Weird.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I didn't see that. I got a notification it was
- 1:53Speaker 2: that sounds like a Cowboys thing. Yeah, yeah, So was
- 1:56Speaker 2: it thirty four to ten final score?
- 1:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it was attack.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I think this will be kind of figured it would
- 2:00Speaker 2: be before.
- 2:01Speaker 1: But it was. It was twenty to ten in the
- 2:03Speaker 1: fourth quarter. It was a competitive game with the Cowboys
- 2:06Speaker 1: having a chance to get close. They gave up the
- 2:09Speaker 1: two quick touchdowns, came back with the long hit to
- 2:13Speaker 1: come on Te Turpin, and it looked like they were
- 2:15Speaker 1: going to be right there in the thick of the fight.
- 2:17Speaker 2: He was on that sixty four yard touchdown run twenty
- 2:20Speaker 2: two point five miles per hour.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah he was, he was moved, Yeah, he was moving.
- 2:25Speaker 1: He got through the defense. That was one of the
- 2:27Speaker 1: high point moments. There weren't many Jerry Jones after the game.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Oh what do you say?
- 2:36Speaker 1: There was one thing that I thought was pretty interesting.
- 2:38Speaker 1: He in the initial Q and A, it was just
- 2:41Speaker 1: kind of like, well, let's just not you know, we're
- 2:43Speaker 1: not doing right. I don't know why the offense and
- 2:45Speaker 1: it was a lot of just talking and circle stuff.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Jane Slater, who was or a long Worn YEP and
- 2:53Speaker 1: worked at Long Horn Network and as a friend and
- 2:55Speaker 1: she's really cool. She did it in a very nice way,
- 3:00Speaker 1: respectful way, but she continued to push the point to
- 3:03Speaker 1: Jerry about you know, it's disappointing, and she said, respectfully
- 3:08Speaker 1: speaking when the same things continue to happen over and over,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and he said something to her like, well, it's it's
- 3:16Speaker 1: not respectful, not meaning her, meaning the team, their performance,
- 3:20Speaker 1: not respectful when they continue to do the same thing
- 3:23Speaker 1: over and over again. And you could tell he was
- 3:25Speaker 1: frustrated about about the whole deal. But as we know,
- 3:30Speaker 1: there's nothing really that's going to change about that through
- 3:34Speaker 1: the course of the rest of the season, because she
- 3:36Speaker 1: did also ask him about the change thing, and he
- 3:39Speaker 1: brought up when he made the change in twenty ten
- 3:41Speaker 1: and I figreted that and so on and so forth.
- 3:45Speaker 1: So yeah, they're right back where they are.
- 3:50Speaker 2: And I think we had talked about a few weeks ago, Craig,
- 3:52Speaker 2: out of the loss of San Francisco, I felt like
- 3:56Speaker 2: the Cowboys were going to go on at least a
- 3:59Speaker 2: six game losing it dead. I get it on five
- 4:01Speaker 2: right now now that Giants game on? Is it Thanksgiving
- 4:06Speaker 2: or the day after Thanksgiving?
- 4:07Speaker 1: Thanksgiving?
- 4:08Speaker 2: Thankfully it's ONTLI. It should be put it on Netflix actually,
- 4:11Speaker 2: because then there's a good chance that it won't work
- 4:13Speaker 2: and you're streaming. It's like, yeah, that's all right, it's
- 4:15Speaker 2: on Fox.
- 4:15Speaker 1: The Cowboys play, always, always, always play the late afternoon
- 4:19Speaker 1: game on Thanksgiving. That goes all the way back to
- 4:21Speaker 1: nineteen sixty six. That's another brain child attack. Shrem that
- 4:25Speaker 1: there had been a game that was going to be earlier,
- 4:27Speaker 1: and he he petitioned the NFL, said let us play,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and it was on Thanksgiving Day in nineteen sixty six,
- 4:35Speaker 1: and they beat the Browns and that was kind of
- 4:37Speaker 1: their coming out party because they were on the way
- 4:39Speaker 1: to winning their first division title, getting in their first
- 4:41Speaker 1: NFL title game. And other than two years, I think
- 4:44Speaker 1: it's seventy five and seventy seven, those are the only
- 4:47Speaker 1: two years the Cowboys have not played on Thanksgiving. It's
- 4:50Speaker 1: a Thanksgiving tradition. They play on Thanksgiving, and lately it's
- 4:53Speaker 1: been a tradition to lose on Thanksgiving. You know. You know,
- 4:57Speaker 1: my wife Lynda had our time believing that they're owing
- 4:59Speaker 1: five at home this year, and here was the number
- 5:01Speaker 1: I was looking for last week, and I didn't have
- 5:03Speaker 1: it quite right. They've had six consecutive games where they
- 5:09Speaker 1: have trailed by twenty or more points. And that includes
- 5:15Speaker 1: the Baltimore game where they came back and cut it
- 5:17Speaker 1: to three and lost by three, but six consecutive games
- 5:22Speaker 1: there where they've trailed by twenty or more and that's
- 5:26Speaker 1: a rough deal. So that's a little bit of cowboy talk.
- 5:29Speaker 1: We'll have some more of it, but coming up, we're
- 5:32Speaker 1: going to have a little closer look at Saturday's matchup
- 5:37Speaker 1: between the log Horns and the Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky's first
- 5:41Speaker 1: game in Austin since nineteen fifty one, only their second overall,
- 5:44Speaker 1: and it's only the second time that Texas has played Kentucky.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Tom Leach, a good friend in the play by play
- 5:50Speaker 1: voice of the Kentucky Wildcats, will join us. We'll have
- 5:53Speaker 1: Inconceivable this hour, and then coming up in the three
- 5:58Speaker 1: o'clock hour, Greg Tapper, managing editor of Dave Campbell's Texas
- 6:01Speaker 1: Football Magazine, will join us as we talk football across
- 6:05Speaker 1: the state of Texas and both a collegiate and high
- 6:07Speaker 1: school variety. We're also going to hear from Long Horn
- 6:09Speaker 1: men's basketball coach Rodney Terry Texas women's head coach Vick Schaeffer.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So we've got a lot on our plate today and
- 6:16Speaker 1: it's all coming up right here on Sports Radio AM
- 6:18Speaker 1: thirteen under the Zone in the iHeartRadio app
