- 0:14Speaker 2: This is the Best of Stugatz & Company live on
- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Israel Gutierrez in studio with us today. Weekend's getting shorter.
- 0:25Speaker 3: I mean, technically, it was a long weekend, right? It
- 0:27Speaker 3: wasn't yesterday, technically. Worst holiday ever, by the way.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Columbus Day. I had no idea it was still a holiday.
- 0:33Speaker 4: Such a waste of a holiday. I wasn't driving through
- 0:36Speaker 4: school zones. I was like, what's going on?
- 0:39Speaker 3: I would rather work on Columbus Day. That's how bad
- 0:42Speaker 3: of a holiday it is. Well, you could have come
- 0:43Speaker 3: in yesterday. Sorry, I was out of town. We do have.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Matt Hasselbeck joining us and Brian Anderson, voice of the ALCS,
- 0:53Speaker 1: in hour number two. And we had a great football
- 0:57Speaker 1: game last night, but that's not where we're going to
- 0:59Speaker 1: start today because Izzy takes these long weekends and he
- 1:02Speaker 1: still has Arch Manning and college football on his mind.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I've got a lot of NFL on
- 1:07Speaker 4: my mind. I've got a lot of college football on
- 1:09Speaker 4: my mind. But I myself was playing in a flag
- 1:11Speaker 4: football tournament and these things, you know, this one in
- 1:13Speaker 4: particular goes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So it's not like
- 1:16Speaker 4: I have complete focus on what's happening today.
- 1:19Speaker 3: In the sports world.
- 1:20Speaker 4: But, you know, I went through Saturday and noticed some
- 1:23Speaker 4: things about college football. I noticed my Gators are terrible
- 1:26Speaker 4: all of a sudden ever since I started liking them.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Ever since they beat Mississippi. Ever since Izzy said they
- 1:33Speaker 1: have a coach. Yes, they're my candidate for the Leisman
- 1:35Speaker 1: Trophy winner.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Well, we don't need to stay there.
- 1:40Speaker 4: But it wasn't until Sunday where I looked and I
- 1:43Speaker 4: saw the rankings and I was like, wait a second.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Texas lost because that used to be a big deal.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Like the number one team in the country losing in
- 1:52Speaker 4: a rivalry game, but more importantly, losing to an unranked team.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Like it would be plastered. It would be the first
- 1:57Speaker 3: headline everywhere.
- 1:59Speaker 4: And maybe I wasn't looking at the right places at
- 2:00Speaker 4: the right plastering, but I didn't really see it. It
- 2:03Speaker 4: was like a 10th headline in my stack. And I
- 2:05Speaker 4: was just like, man. it used to matter when the
- 2:07Speaker 4: number one team lost because it's like, wow, maybe they
- 2:10Speaker 4: won't be playing for the championship anymore.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:11Speaker 3: But that's a product of the playoff, correct?
- 2:13Speaker 2: It is. It is.
- 2:14Speaker 3: The losses don't mean as much as they used to.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's like the games just happen and it's like, oh, well, well,
- 2:18Speaker 3: maybe we'll get them next week. And it's like, no,
- 2:20Speaker 3: that's an NFL thing.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I don't like that in college football, but it got
- 2:24Speaker 4: me to thinking about Arch Manning again.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:26Speaker 4: Because then I read up on how they lost that game.
- 2:29Speaker 4: And I was like, Ooh, a couple of interceptions down
- 2:31Speaker 4: the stretch. One of them being a pick six, like,
- 2:33Speaker 4: If he's an NFL quarterback, that's the type of stuff
- 2:36Speaker 4: he just gets ripped for, you know, for the rest
- 2:38Speaker 4: of the week up.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Until you start the following week.
- 2:42Speaker 4: And so, you know, you and I, we've had these
- 2:43Speaker 4: conversations about is Arch Manning good? Is it just, you know,
- 2:46Speaker 4: a last name thing that has him as, you know,
- 2:48Speaker 4: a potential franchise altering quarterback in some people's mind? And
- 2:52Speaker 4: I'm starting to wonder if he's just not stuck with
- 2:56Speaker 4: a bad offensive coordinator and bad head coach. Because physically, Arch.
- 3:01Speaker 3: Manning looks the part.
- 3:04Speaker 4: The throws, you know, when you see them leave his hand,
- 3:07Speaker 4: regardless of which team catches the other end of it,
- 3:11Speaker 4: they look like impressive throws.
- 3:12Speaker 3: When he has time to set and get that throw off, yes.
- 3:15Speaker 4: He doesn't seem to be super panicky in the pocket necessarily.
- 3:19Speaker 4: And he's athletic enough, very athletic actually, when he gets
- 3:22Speaker 4: out of the pocket and can do a lot of things.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And I'm just like.
- 3:25Speaker 4: If you put this guy with a Ben Johnson type,
- 3:29Speaker 4: he would absolutely have a field day with him, and
- 3:32Speaker 4: they would absolutely kill because he can make every throw.
- 3:36Speaker 4: And even if you don't think he's going to be Peyton, Eli,
- 3:39Speaker 4: or whomever in that family, because he's a member of
- 3:42Speaker 4: that family, you know he's going to take it as
- 3:45Speaker 4: serious as he possibly can.
- 3:46Speaker 6: Yes.
- 3:46Speaker 7: Right?
- 3:47Speaker 6: Yes.
- 3:48Speaker 4: And so it just makes me wonder if that's the
- 3:49Speaker 4: case because I look around the league and I'm just like,
- 3:52Speaker 4: if you dropped Arch Manning in a Dolphins uniform today— He's.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Way better than Malik Willis. Like, not just a little
- 3:58Speaker 3: bit better, way better than Malik Willis.
- 4:01Speaker 4: I think if you dropped him into a Denver Broncos
- 4:04Speaker 4: uniform today, he's better than Bo Nix.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I mean, Bo Nix is terrible. He's absolutely terrible. Hot take.
- 4:12Speaker 4: Just terrible. He sees ghosts in the pocket, doesn't make
- 4:15Speaker 4: great throws. He's very much a game manager at a
- 4:20Speaker 4: college level.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Yes, he seems nervous to throw the football. I mean,
- 4:24Speaker 1: to actually release the football, he does.
- 4:26Speaker 4: So it makes me wonder if Arch Manning is just
- 4:28Speaker 4: stuck in a bad situation, and that's why teams are saying, no, no,
- 4:31Speaker 4: I see the raw talent. I see or I can
- 4:34Speaker 4: tell the dedication once he's going to get here, but
- 4:37Speaker 4: maybe he doesn't look so good because he's got to
- 4:39Speaker 4: do this and this and this under this coaching staff.
- 4:41Speaker 8: Izzy, when it comes to Arch Manning, it feels like
- 4:43Speaker 8: there's two camps of people. One that's saying like Arch
- 4:46Speaker 8: Manning could be this generational talent at the quarterback position
- 4:49Speaker 8: once he gets to the NFL. And then there's the
- 4:51Speaker 8: other half where saying Arch Manning, he's a first round
- 4:55Speaker 8: name and probably like a fifth round quarterback. I have
- 4:58Speaker 8: two theories when it comes to Texas and Arch Manning
- 5:01Speaker 8: because I do have some complaints with Arch Manning. I
- 5:04Speaker 8: don't think he throws with anticipation a lot. He doesn't
- 5:08Speaker 8: really throw receivers open. It's either the guy is open
- 5:10Speaker 8: and he sees it or he just eats it. My
- 5:14Speaker 8: two theories when it comes to this.
- 5:15Speaker 3: A couple of theories, cutting it up.
- 5:18Speaker 8: First theory, Sark is just an idiot. Because Sark feels
- 5:21Speaker 8: like he doesn't know how to use Arch Manning. When
- 5:24Speaker 8: you look at Arch Manning's best game, I would go
- 5:27Speaker 8: back to the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl last year against Michigan
- 5:30Speaker 8: where he completes 60. I don't even think it's the
- 5:34Speaker 8: Cheez-It Bowl anymore.
- 5:35Speaker 3: We love Cheez-Its.
- 5:37Speaker 8: Arch completes 61% of his passes. He throws for two touchdowns,
- 5:40Speaker 8: no interceptions. But more importantly in that game, he used
- 5:44Speaker 8: his legs. He had nine rush. He had nine carries
- 5:47Speaker 8: for 155 yards where you're watching him streak in the field.
- 5:50Speaker 8: And you're like, it's very rare for a quarterback that
- 5:54Speaker 8: big to move that well. So that, that goes back
- 5:57Speaker 8: to the two theories where either Sark is an idiot
- 5:59Speaker 8: and he just keeps trying to force arch to be
- 6:02Speaker 8: this pocket passer, like his uncle Peyton or the conspiracy here.
- 6:08Speaker 8: The Mannings might have told Sark how to use Arch,
- 6:11Speaker 8: and they don't want to put unnecessary hits on him
- 6:14Speaker 8: by exposing him to being this running threat, which the
- 6:17Speaker 8: running ability makes this Texas team a lot better. But
- 6:20Speaker 8: if you're running Arch as much as Texas probably needs to,
- 6:25Speaker 8: that's a chance for Arch to get hurt before he's
- 6:28Speaker 8: supposed to be this first-round quarterback.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Is saying Sork's an idiot a theory? No. He might
- 6:34Speaker 3: be an idiot. He might be an idiot.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Look, I have no doubt in my mind that, and
- 6:40Speaker 4: we want to say the family, let's just say his dad, because,
- 6:42Speaker 4: you know, you're giving the uncles too much credit here.
- 6:45Speaker 8: Izzy, you don't think Peyton and Eli are pulling strings
- 6:47Speaker 8: behind the scenes?
- 6:48Speaker 3: I mean, if they need to.
- 6:49Speaker 4: But I think everybody knows who Coop is, and I think,
- 6:52Speaker 4: you know, if you're listening to his dad, you know.
- 6:54Speaker 3: That he has the influence of his brothers.
- 6:56Speaker 4: But no, what I do think is that, of course,
- 6:59Speaker 4: they went to a school that said, hey, just so
- 7:02Speaker 4: you know, we're not running some, you know, dual threat
- 7:05Speaker 4: quarterback stuff because not just am I worried about my son,
- 7:09Speaker 4: my nephew getting hurt. I'm worried about him not developing
- 7:13Speaker 4: all the skills necessary to be the great NFL quarterback.
- 7:17Speaker 4: And that is, hey, staying in the pocket, reading the defenses.
- 7:20Speaker 4: And as you say, anticipating throws or throwing receivers open
- 7:24Speaker 4: is But that to me speaks to poor offensive coordinating
- 7:29Speaker 4: or poor coaching because. you can, especially at this level,
- 7:32Speaker 4: this formative age that he is in, you can sort
- 7:35Speaker 4: of convince him, hey, you need to anticipate this throw.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Based on my offense, you'll see this guy getting open.
- 7:41Speaker 4: You can just throw it a little bit ahead of him, whatever,
- 7:43Speaker 4: anticipate the throw. He'll catch that ball. You'll be, quote unquote,
- 7:47Speaker 4: throwing him open. Sometimes a guy at that age may
- 7:50Speaker 4: not really get all that.
- 7:52Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 7:52Speaker 4: When he grows up and he's worried more about form,
- 7:55Speaker 4: he's worried more about you know, throwing the ball perfectly.
- 7:58Speaker 4: He's worried more about his physical stature and just saying, Hey,
- 8:00Speaker 4: I can do anything on this field. And then you
- 8:03Speaker 4: sort of teach the game to him. He's still in that,
- 8:05Speaker 4: in those formative years. And it would be amazing if
- 8:08Speaker 4: he had had a better coach. Who's not, you know,
- 8:10Speaker 4: doesn't seem to be an idiot.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Stu.
- 8:12Speaker 8: I don't think Sark is doing arch any, any favors
- 8:14Speaker 8: when it comes to play calling. And I definitely don't
- 8:16Speaker 8: think he's doing any, any favors when it comes to
- 8:19Speaker 8: what he says about arch manning in the media, where Sark, Yesterday,
- 8:23Speaker 8: he comes out, Sark says, if you took the name
- 8:26Speaker 8: off the back of his jersey and you said, here's
- 8:28Speaker 8: Joe Smith playing quarterback at the University of Texas, we'd
- 8:32Speaker 8: be praising the guy.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I'm not certain. He's still the quarterback at Texas. I mean,
- 8:36Speaker 3: we wouldn't be praising him after two fourth quarter interceptions, Sark.
- 8:40Speaker 6: Right.
- 8:40Speaker 3: And Joe Smith would not be playing at Texas. No, no,
- 8:43Speaker 3: way too. Joseph Smith? No, he'd be at BYU.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Wait, so this is a family project. I imagine it
- 8:49Speaker 1: to be a family project. And don't you think the
- 8:51Speaker 1: Mannings did the proper amount of research and said, hey, Arch,
- 8:55Speaker 1: you're going to that school because we want you coached
- 8:58Speaker 1: by that guy?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah, who is the Texas offensive coordinator anyway? I don't
- 9:02Speaker 3: even know. I'm just talking smack about him. Well, I'm
- 9:04Speaker 3: talking about Sark. Don't you think the Mannings did that
- 9:06Speaker 3: as a family?
- 9:07Speaker 4: I mean, look, I think they went to the school
- 9:10Speaker 4: where it seemed like Arch could flourish the most. If
- 9:15Speaker 4: that means the head coach, if that means the offensive coordinators,
- 9:17Speaker 4: that means The conference, all those things probably come into play.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You're not the only one confused. We're not the only
- 9:23Speaker 1: people who are confused. I heard Mel Kiper today tell
- 9:26Speaker 1: a story. He watches the Texas game. He has the
- 9:28Speaker 1: big board up. He can move pieces around on the
- 9:33Speaker 1: big board, right? And he said there are throws that
- 9:36Speaker 1: Arch makes, and he takes Arch, and he takes the name,
- 9:39Speaker 1: and he puts it in his top ten. And then
- 9:41Speaker 1: he throws bad picks, and he takes them out of
- 9:43Speaker 1: the top ten. He said he's all over the place
- 9:45Speaker 1: with Arch. He doesn't know what to do.
- 9:46Speaker 4: Yeah, to me, and I think this sort of speaks
- 9:49Speaker 4: to Taylor's points a little bit. It could be where
- 9:51Speaker 4: he's just a guy that has so much responsibility in
- 9:54Speaker 4: this offense that he feels like he has to do,
- 9:56Speaker 4: you know, because they run sort of pro style stuff.
- 9:58Speaker 3: So it feels like he has to be the perfect.
- 10:00Speaker 3: quarterback right now.
- 10:01Speaker 4: And it's just asking a lot of somebody at his
- 10:04Speaker 4: age and somebody with his expectations. Like he can't just
- 10:07Speaker 4: be a guy who sort of learns from his mistakes.
- 10:09Speaker 4: He's got to be perfect at the moment just because
- 10:12Speaker 4: he's in college for probably a year longer than you
- 10:14Speaker 4: would have wanted him to.
- 10:15Speaker 8: And Izzy, I know this is Arch's fourth year in
- 10:17Speaker 8: the Texas program, and you'd expect him to be more
- 10:20Speaker 8: up to speed at this point, but I also think
- 10:22Speaker 8: it is worth reminding people, like, if you look at
- 10:25Speaker 8: Arch's high school tape, He is playing like as low
- 10:29Speaker 8: level competition as you could play. It's almost like that.
- 10:32Speaker 8: Remember Zion Williamson's high school tape where the kids he's
- 10:37Speaker 8: playing against are like five foot one white kids and
- 10:41Speaker 8: Zion's like dunking all over them. That was kind of
- 10:43Speaker 8: Arch Manning in high school. And now you're going to
- 10:46Speaker 8: the SEC and asking him to go against some of
- 10:48Speaker 8: the best defenses. Like it's hard to play quarterback at
- 10:51Speaker 8: this level.
- 10:51Speaker 4: That's so funny, too, because I just happened to come
- 10:53Speaker 4: across a graphic yesterday where I saw the high school
- 10:56Speaker 4: rankings of Zion Williams, the senior season. And he was
- 10:59Speaker 4: second behind RJ Barrett. Give me, I don't care who
- 11:02Speaker 4: the opponents are. The rim's the same height, right? That
- 11:05Speaker 4: dude should have been way higher than RJ Barrett. If
- 11:07Speaker 4: there was something higher than number one.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson company
- 11:12Speaker 2: live weekdays at 3.
- 11:14Speaker 3: PM.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Eastern 12. PM. Pacific on Fox sports radio and the
- 11:18Speaker 2: I heart radio.
- 11:22Speaker 3: App. 877-99 on Fox. If you'd like to give us
- 11:25Speaker 3: a call, We might not answer, but you can call. Yes,
- 11:28Speaker 3: please call. I'll answer. I promise you.
- 11:30Speaker 1: I think we will talk some NFL here in just
- 11:34Speaker 1: a second. But first, let's go to Sherman Oaks. Dan
- 11:36Speaker 1: Beyer is he missed him so much.
- 11:38Speaker 3: He has my man. He has a sports update. It's
- 11:43Speaker 3: great to talk to you guys.
- 11:46Speaker 9: I don't know what to make of the intro, but
- 11:48Speaker 9: I'll just take it from here.
- 11:49Speaker 3: Game two. I figured Izzy missed you. And perhaps I
- 11:54Speaker 3: read the room wrong. I don't know. Oh, Izzy's got
- 11:57Speaker 3: beef with me for whatever reason. Thank you, Dan. He
- 12:00Speaker 3: did miss you.
- 12:01Speaker 1: And I missed Izzy because one of the things I
- 12:03Speaker 1: love about Izzy is while Dan is doing that wonderful
- 12:06Speaker 1: sports update, get you updated on everything going on. He's
- 12:09Speaker 1: staring at a television. He's pointing and he's smiling. And
- 12:12Speaker 1: the person he was pointing at was Christian Yellich.
- 12:16Speaker 4: It just makes me feel good sometimes to know that
- 12:19Speaker 4: even a former MLB MVP stays in the same hotel
- 12:23Speaker 4: rooms we do.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I know that lamp. I know those shades.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I know that smoke alarm that used to make me
- 12:28Speaker 4: nervous whenever people were trying to hotbox the bathroom.
- 12:31Speaker 3: I know all that stuff. And yet, so does Christian Yellich.
- 12:34Speaker 8: Kind of makes me feel good.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Relatable.
- 12:37Speaker 8: How good could a starting lineup of former Marlins be?
- 12:40Speaker 8: Because Yelly's in there. Real Muto's in there. Giancarlo Stanton's
- 12:45Speaker 8: in there.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You can make an all-time former Marlin lineup that's as
- 12:48Speaker 1: good as any lineup in the history of baseball.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Sheffield. Luis Castillo. Cabrera. Derek Lee. All of them.
- 12:58Speaker 8: Jazz Chisholm's not in that lineup.
- 12:59Speaker 3: No, he's not. Well, not for you.
- 13:02Speaker 5: No.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Not for anybody.
- 13:03Speaker 8: Not for anybody, no.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I mean, listen, he might be second team for the Marlins.
- 13:09Speaker 3: He's all over hype team.
- 13:10Speaker 8: Josh Chisholm's family doesn't think Josh Chisholm should be in
- 13:13Speaker 8: that lineup.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Izzy, what'd you make here? By the way, 877-99 on Fox.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Which coach in the NFL right now most deserves to
- 13:21Speaker 1: be fired?
- 13:22Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox. What did you make of the Commander's
- 13:27Speaker 3: Giants ending? Oh, my goodness.
- 13:29Speaker 2: It was glorious.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Have you ever had one of those situations where you're
- 13:33Speaker 4: watching a game or whatever, and you're just yelling at
- 13:37Speaker 4: nobody in particular?
- 13:39Speaker 3: Yellich. You're just yelliching at nobody in particular?
- 13:45Speaker 4: Like, this is TMI, but I was in between bathroom
- 13:49Speaker 4: use and shower.
- 13:50Speaker 10: Right.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Okay? I had just come back, and I've got the
- 13:52Speaker 3: game on my phone.
- 13:55Speaker 4: Naked and I'm watching and I'm just, you know, the
- 14:00Speaker 4: fan in the bathroom is on. So nobody can hear me, whatever,
- 14:03Speaker 4: even if I was yelling through the wall and I'm.
- 14:06Speaker 8: Just screaming, what are they doing?
- 14:09Speaker 3: The time is just running out.
- 14:11Speaker 4: And then when he snapped the ball there, I'm like, okay,
- 14:13Speaker 4: surely he will just try to find an open receiver
- 14:16Speaker 4: and then just throw it out of bounds to stop
- 14:18Speaker 4: the clock. And to me, that is a fireable offense.
- 14:23Speaker 4: For Dan Quinn, like absolutely a fireable offense, because first
- 14:27Speaker 4: of all, there's way too many assistant coaches for somebody
- 14:32Speaker 4: to not yell at the head coach or even at
- 14:34Speaker 4: Jaden Daniels. Say, hey, buddy, you got to get rid
- 14:37Speaker 4: of the football the next play. We've got no more timeouts.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:40Speaker 4: The clock is dwindling. Don't just sit on the ball.
- 14:45Speaker 4: And that actually makes me think of the John Calipari
- 14:47Speaker 4: thing from last week where he was ranting and raving
- 14:49Speaker 4: about his players and getting paid more than the assisting
- 14:52Speaker 4: coaches they should they absolutely should i'm not trying to
- 14:55Speaker 4: take money out of people's pockets but i'm telling you
- 14:56Speaker 4: right now assisting coaches are way too overpaid.
- 14:59Speaker 7: Way too overpaid but you have to like look stew
- 15:02Speaker 7: i play flag football all the time there are no
- 15:05Speaker 7: clocks anywhere on the field right and yet i still
- 15:07Speaker 7: would never let a game come to an end right without.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Knowing the situation time clock and score and situation yes
- 15:14Speaker 4: and it's just like Right. Right.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Maybe it's all these rotating or changing rules every year
- 15:40Speaker 4: in the NFL where it's just like, wait, what are
- 15:41Speaker 4: the rules? Do we go to another overtime quarter? Does
- 15:44Speaker 4: it just end as a tie? Just go to the
- 15:46Speaker 4: college rules and just get rid of all that because
- 15:48Speaker 4: I feel like, I mean, not that they shouldn't be
- 15:51Speaker 4: able to consider, hey, it's the time.
- 15:53Speaker 3: It's dwindling down. You've got no more timeouts. Do something
- 15:55Speaker 3: about it.
- 15:56Speaker 4: But if you just take one thing off their plate
- 15:59Speaker 4: in overtime and you don't have to worry about my
- 16:01Speaker 4: team has.
- 16:01Speaker 3: To settle for a tie. I would just go to
- 16:03Speaker 3: the college.
- 16:03Speaker 1: So make it easier for the kid who's getting paid
- 16:05Speaker 1: $ 20 million a year.
- 16:06Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:08Speaker 8: The one thing that added to the confusion in the
- 16:11Speaker 8: commanders giants game was Jonathan Vilma on the call where
- 16:15Speaker 8: there's like 10, there's inside 10 seconds left. And Jonathan
- 16:18Speaker 8: Vilma is basically patting himself on the back. He's like, yeah,
- 16:21Speaker 8: I knew the commanders weren't throwing the ball and everybody's
- 16:23Speaker 8: looking around. Like you could give the commanders another 10,
- 16:26Speaker 8: 15 seconds. They're still not going to be able to,
- 16:29Speaker 8: to get this, get this spike off. And it's like, Hey, Vilma,
- 16:33Speaker 8: please recognize the situation that we're in right now. There
- 16:36Speaker 8: was no sense of urgency from anybody there.
- 16:38Speaker 3: In fairness to Vilma, everyone was confused.
- 16:40Speaker 2: No, I wasn't.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Nobody was confused.
- 16:43Speaker 7: I was screaming in my bathroom naked saying, what is happening?
- 16:46Speaker 2: Baby!
- 16:47Speaker 4: That's what made me wonder if I thought I was
- 16:49Speaker 4: going crazy because I was like, how are the announcers
- 16:51Speaker 4: not saying something here? buddy, Vilma, say something. You're the
- 16:56Speaker 4: one who's got to have the insight. And then that's
- 16:58Speaker 4: what makes me think. It's like, man, these coaches, how
- 17:01Speaker 4: do they get paid.
- 17:02Speaker 3: So much money? There are clocks everywhere in that stadium.
- 17:05Speaker 3: You got to know the situation.
- 17:07Speaker 1: The biggest indictment of Jaden Daniels in that game is
- 17:11Speaker 1: Jameis Winston was sitting on the sideline saying, hey, I.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Know what to do.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Of all the people, of all the quarterbacks, Jameis Winston
- 17:17Speaker 1: would not have messed that up. I put it on
- 17:19Speaker 1: Jaden Daniels. I don't put it on Dan Quinn.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Like, is he?
- 17:23Speaker 1: Because in basketball, you have coaches on the floor, right?
- 17:25Speaker 1: Your point guard is a coach on the floor. He
- 17:27Speaker 1: should know situational things, right? Jaden Daniels is the point
- 17:30Speaker 1: guard on the field for the commanders. He took that
- 17:33Speaker 1: team to an NFC Championship game. He's played enough football.
- 17:36Speaker 1: He should know better. Jaden Daniels should know better. I
- 17:39Speaker 1: don't care if the coaches aren't saying a thing to him.
- 17:42Speaker 3: Okay, so who.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Has access to the comms inside of the quarterback's head?
- 17:47Speaker 4: Because before that play... Either the head coach or the
- 17:50Speaker 4: offensive coordinator has to say, hey, you have to get
- 17:53Speaker 4: rid of this football either on the sidelines so we
- 17:56Speaker 4: can get out of bounds or an incomplete pass because
- 17:58Speaker 4: we're already in field goal. Like, you can't just let
- 18:02Speaker 4: that happen. There are way too many people getting paid
- 18:04Speaker 4: seven or eight figures to to allow that to happen.
- 18:07Speaker 3: It's completely fireable.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Like, I do not put that on Jaden Daniels himself.
- 18:11Speaker 4: He's got to worry about so many things. He's got
- 18:13Speaker 4: to worry about, I would say, more than anybody else
- 18:15Speaker 4: on that field. You've got to think about the play.
- 18:17Speaker 4: You've got to know where your receivers are going. You've
- 18:19Speaker 4: got to know the clock. You've got to know this.
- 18:20Speaker 4: You've got to know that. The coaches, like, a head
- 18:23Speaker 4: coach has an offensive coordinator. He has a defensive coordinator,
- 18:25Speaker 4: an offensive play caller, a defensive play caller. He has
- 18:28Speaker 4: a dude to tell him to step back. Just get
- 18:30Speaker 4: off the field. How do you not like what else
- 18:33Speaker 4: is left for the head coach to do other than
- 18:35Speaker 4: know the dang time and tell your quarterback what the
- 18:38Speaker 4: situation should be?
- 18:39Speaker 8: Izzy, this was my exact point with Dan Quinn, where
- 18:42Speaker 8: the first and 10 run that play is over at
- 18:46Speaker 8: 52 seconds. And they're going up to the line. There's
- 18:50Speaker 8: no sense of urgency for anybody. The in-helmet communication cuts
- 18:53Speaker 8: off at 15 seconds on the play clock. So when
- 18:56Speaker 8: it hits 15 seconds on the play clock, you're already
- 18:58Speaker 8: at like 25, 26 seconds in the game clock where
- 19:02Speaker 8: it's like somebody in that moment should just be saying, hey,
- 19:05Speaker 8: whatever plan we had, just spike the ball. Let's figure
- 19:09Speaker 8: it out on second and eight. Because again, best case scenario,
- 19:13Speaker 8: you complete a short pass for five yards.
- 19:15Speaker 6: Right.
- 19:16Speaker 8: And then what? You're either hoping he got out of
- 19:19Speaker 8: bounds or you're still in that same situation of being
- 19:22Speaker 8: in no man's land with his clock.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Taylor, even when the comms cut off, if I'm Dan Quinn,
- 19:26Speaker 4: if that message hadn't gotten across, I would just be
- 19:29Speaker 4: going like this on the sideline.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Anything you have to do.
- 19:32Speaker 4: And then just telling him to spite, like acting like
- 19:34Speaker 4: a crazy person. But even if you don't do it,
- 19:36Speaker 4: everybody else in the world says, oh, okay, Dan Quinn
- 19:38Speaker 4: knew what was going on.
- 19:39Speaker 3: He tried to get that message across. I'd run out
- 19:41Speaker 3: to the huddle. I don't care if I get flagged.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Who cares? It's better than what happened.
- 19:45Speaker 8: Well, then you have the 10-second runoff, and you're starting
- 19:48Speaker 8: to worry about that.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Well, that was the problem. Too much time ran off
- 19:51Speaker 3: the clock.
- 19:53Speaker 8: There's no reason for... The first down play to end
- 19:56Speaker 8: with 52 seconds.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Yes.
- 19:58Speaker 8: And Jaden Daniels snaps the ball at 12 seconds on
- 20:01Speaker 8: a running clock.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Yes, it's crazy.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I can't believe we're still talking about a game that's
- 20:04Speaker 1: really relatively meaningless in the grand scheme of the NFL.
- 20:08Speaker 4: That's how maddening it was. The situation was either Jaden
- 20:11Speaker 4: thought there was a timeout, which made me wonder. I
- 20:13Speaker 4: was asking myself, hey, are the graphics wrong? Because I
- 20:16Speaker 4: would first blame a director of the broadcast to have
- 20:19Speaker 4: those graphics incorrect. than I would for Jaden Daniels, who's
- 20:23Speaker 4: played football his whole life, not necessarily NFL overtime rules.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Or he thought, yeah, we're just going to go into
- 20:28Speaker 4: another quarter and finish it from there.
- 20:30Speaker 3: Dan Beyer has some thoughts out in Sherman Oaks. What
- 20:32Speaker 3: do you have, Dan?
- 20:33Speaker 9: Yeah, just to pile on to the commanders here. There
- 20:36Speaker 9: was a scenario if the receivers didn't run downfield where
- 20:40Speaker 9: maybe they could have spiked it with three seconds left.
- 20:42Speaker 9: But that then tells me that a play was called.
- 20:44Speaker 9: Like to Taylor's point, if you're in Jaden Daniels' ear,
- 20:48Speaker 9: you would just be like, just spike it, just spike it,
- 20:51Speaker 9: just spike it. But they ran a play that had
- 20:54Speaker 9: the receivers running downfield. If they were to just spike
- 20:57Speaker 9: it in that situation, no one would have ran downfield.
- 20:59Speaker 9: They would have actually had time if he was trying
- 21:02Speaker 9: to kill some time to line up and spike it again.
- 21:04Speaker 6: So.
- 21:05Speaker 9: To me, it goes on the coaching staff, David Blau
- 21:08Speaker 9: and ultimately Dan Quinn.
- 21:10Speaker 8: Dan, there's also a scenario there where Jaden Daniels drops
- 21:12Speaker 8: back with 11, 10 seconds left, and you get a
- 21:15Speaker 8: holding penalty, and now the clock, it's a 10-second penalty,
- 21:19Speaker 8: and you don't even have a chance to run the
- 21:20Speaker 8: field goal. There was no good scenario for the commanders
- 21:24Speaker 8: to snap that ball.
- 21:25Speaker 1: I do love the idea that everyone thinks if they
- 21:27Speaker 1: were in that same position, people who don't play football
- 21:29Speaker 1: for a living— that they'd be able to figure it out.
- 21:31Speaker 3: And pull it off.
- 21:32Speaker 8: Because we're not idiots!
- 21:33Speaker 4: Well, exactly. So how about this, dude? Rather than make
- 21:36Speaker 4: it easier on them, make it tougher. Take the clocks
- 21:38Speaker 4: out of the arena. Take the clocks out of the stadium.
- 21:41Speaker 4: Make just the head ref keep the time, and you
- 21:43Speaker 4: will have a head coach obsessed with, hey, how much
- 21:45Speaker 4: time's left? Hey, how much time's left? Hey, how much
- 21:47Speaker 4: time's left? And then they can figure it out from there,
- 21:49Speaker 4: as opposed to just, it's so easy, just look up
- 21:51Speaker 4: at the clock. Oh, okay, maybe we should spike this ball.
- 21:54Speaker 4: But it's apparently too easy. We should make it harder
- 21:56Speaker 4: for them.
- 21:56Speaker 8: Too easy?
- 21:57Speaker 3: Nick Ceriani?
- 21:57Speaker 2: No.
- 21:58Speaker 6: Hold on.
- 21:59Speaker 5: We will.
- 21:59Speaker 3: Dan has two weeks prior. Dan Beyer here.
- 22:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:02Speaker 9: Well, I was just going to say, remember the Cowboys
- 22:03Speaker 9: and Ravens? Like Dak actually had a touchdown pass to
- 22:06Speaker 9: George Pickens wide open. But he thought, I have to
- 22:09Speaker 9: just throw this away and airmail it before they ended
- 22:13Speaker 9: up kicking the field goal. So like the Cowboys are
- 22:15Speaker 9: on the exact opposite end of the spectrum is they
- 22:17Speaker 9: knew exactly what they needed to do. They just didn't
- 22:20Speaker 9: run enough time off and then botch the whole kickoff,
- 22:24Speaker 9: just like the Eagles did. situation we're all talking about.
- 22:26Speaker 9: But like even the Cowboys like realized in that situation
- 22:29Speaker 9: that we can't run a play here and Dak actually
- 22:32Speaker 9: missed the touchdown because he knew he had to throw
- 22:34Speaker 9: it away.
- 22:35Speaker 3: And this is like the exact opposite of it.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Dan, we haven't asked you yet as a big Seahawks
- 22:39Speaker 1: fan and Matt Hasselbeck to join us at four o'clock.
- 22:42Speaker 1: How'd you feel about that game against San Francisco? Because
- 22:45Speaker 1: it was the fourth of five games of the year
- 22:48Speaker 1: in the NFL. That was the game of the year
- 22:51Speaker 1: until last night's game. How'd you feel as a Seahawks fan?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Absolutely atrocious to lose that game.
- 22:57Speaker 9: With four turnovers, including one at the end of the
- 23:00Speaker 9: half where you fumble in your own end zone when
- 23:03Speaker 9: all you have to do is basically take three knees,
- 23:06Speaker 9: have the 49ers use all their timeouts. You could still
- 23:09Speaker 9: punt it away. They had to kill 18 seconds, and
- 23:11Speaker 9: they decided to run a play, and it gave the
- 23:14Speaker 9: Niners free points at the end of the first half.
- 23:16Speaker 9: Darnold's interceptions, threw interceptions on the first pass of each half.
- 23:21Speaker 9: That must be an NFL record, the first pass of
- 23:24Speaker 9: the game, and then his first pass that he threw
- 23:25Speaker 9: in the second half was also picked off The old
- 23:28Speaker 9: Sam Darnold is back.
- 23:29Speaker 1: So, yeah, it's not good. The old Sam Darnold is back.
- 23:34Speaker 1: He just won you a Super Bowl for crying out loud.
- 23:36Speaker 3: I know. But that was the new Sam Darnold. This
- 23:38Speaker 3: is the old one. Yeah, the jet Sam Darnold is
- 23:41Speaker 3: what you're saying.
- 23:42Speaker 6: Yes.
- 23:42Speaker 3: He's back, baby. That was a first down, though, for
- 23:45Speaker 3: Cooper Cup, right? Yeah, it was close. Yeah.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 9: Oh, GSN should have had the catch previously. Yeah, there's
- 23:55Speaker 9: a lot going on.
- 23:57Speaker 1: There is a lot going on. Let's go to Fred,
- 24:00Speaker 1: who's in West Virginia today.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Fred, go ahead. You're on Fox Sports Radio.
- 24:05Speaker 10: Hey, so Washington, this situation with Washington, the clock mismanagement,
- 24:10Speaker 10: the coaching staff was actually using the network's clock, and
- 24:15Speaker 10: that was where the confusion was.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Too many clocks. I think that's a joke to the Michigan, right? Yes.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Thank you, Fred. Why are you giving him a round
- 24:28Speaker 3: of applause? Well, you know, credit to him. He stayed
- 24:33Speaker 3: on hold to tell that joke.
- 24:33Speaker 1: We'll fire Nick Sirianni in a second. Let's go to Nathan,
- 24:36Speaker 1: who's in North Carolina today. Nathan, go ahead. You are
- 24:39Speaker 1: on Fox Sports Radio.
- 24:41Speaker 5: Nathan, formerly of Lancaster, California, and I need some tips
- 24:45Speaker 5: because now I'm on the East Coast, and these primetime
- 24:49Speaker 5: games are killing me. Like, I'm just dying for somebody
- 24:52Speaker 5: to go up two scores in the fourth quarter so
- 24:55Speaker 5: I can go to bed.
- 24:56Speaker 2: How do you guys do it? I don't know.
- 24:59Speaker 4: Well, see, I was thinking about this earlier because it's
- 25:01Speaker 4: just like, what, do you guys just get up out
- 25:03Speaker 4: of bed and turn on the NFL? You don't have
- 25:04Speaker 4: to wait until 1 o'clock, right? But yesterday is a
- 25:07Speaker 4: different example.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Or this week, next week.
- 25:10Speaker 4: If you're watching one of those overseas games and you're
- 25:14Speaker 4: starting at 9.30 a.m.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Eastern time. Yep, 6.30 out West.
- 25:18Speaker 4: You've got to go a straight, what's that, 16 straight
- 25:20Speaker 4: hours of watching football?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:22Speaker 3: I can't do it.
- 25:22Speaker 8: I'm with you.
- 25:23Speaker 1: I mean, I have watched football out on the West Coast.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Dan is out on the West Coast. I mean, so
- 25:28Speaker 1: it starts at 10 and then 1 and then your
- 25:30Speaker 1: 8 o'clock game is starting at 5.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You're done with football by, you know, 8, 8.30 at night.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I liked it. I thought it was fantastic. It's the
- 25:37Speaker 1: best math you've ever done. The only math I've ever done. Dan,
- 25:43Speaker 1: do you enjoy that? Like, would you be good on
- 25:44Speaker 1: the East Coast with games starting at 1, 4, and 830?
- 25:46Speaker 3: No, not at all.
- 25:50Speaker 9: I I've been out there a few times when it's
- 25:53Speaker 9: been that way. And just the lead up to like,
- 25:56Speaker 9: have to wait till the afternoon for the game start
- 25:58Speaker 9: is so foreign. And I was, I grew up as
- 26:00Speaker 9: a central time zone guy, but that that's, there's a
- 26:03Speaker 9: big difference between noon and one because noon's just the
- 26:06Speaker 9: start of the afternoon. It still feels like morning. And
- 26:10Speaker 9: then when you're going to bed at 1130 and the
- 26:12Speaker 9: game's still going on on the East coast.
- 26:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 26:14Speaker 3: That's that's tough. And then you have a game like
- 26:16Speaker 3: you had last night. You're all jacked up after the game.
- 26:19Speaker 3: I was energized.
- 26:21Speaker 9: Sunday night football, like in the first couple of weeks here,
- 26:23Speaker 9: there's still a little bit of daylight for us. Not
- 26:25Speaker 9: that you can do anything, but it's not like that
- 26:27Speaker 9: it's completely dark, which is nice.
- 26:30Speaker 8: So this might be because I'm 32, but... There's only like, what, seven,
- 26:34Speaker 8: eight months of football a year where it's like, I
- 26:37Speaker 8: just have to suck it up for eight months of
- 26:39Speaker 8: the year. So what if I'm going to feel dead
- 26:41Speaker 8: inside in the morning? I'm staying up and watching every snap.
- 26:43Speaker 3: That's almost all of the months. What are you talking about?
- 26:47Speaker 8: I feel dead inside eight months of the year.
- 26:49Speaker 3: There's only 12 of them. What's more difficult? That's the
- 26:53Speaker 3: better question.
- 26:53Speaker 9: Staying up late for the games or waking up early
- 26:56Speaker 9: to watch Jags-Eagles in London?
- 26:58Speaker 3: So the one thing, well, that's right, 6.30, but it
- 27:00Speaker 3: was worth it.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I would have been okay if the game before that,
- 27:04Speaker 1: the London game two weeks ago, was on at 6.30.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Eastern time because I didn't want to watch it. I
- 27:10Speaker 3: don't know.
- 27:11Speaker 1: 10 o'clock, when I start watching football at 10 o'clock,
- 27:14Speaker 1: it feels weird.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Yeah, there needs to be a buildup.
- 27:17Speaker 4: You can't just start your day with dessert right away.
- 27:20Speaker 4: There needs to be a time. It's like, man, even
- 27:22Speaker 4: that little gap between the end of the London game
- 27:25Speaker 4: and the beginning of the 1 o'clock window, it's necessary.
- 27:28Speaker 3: You need that. You can't just have candy all the time.
- 27:31Speaker 1: The 10 to 1 period is a very important part
- 27:34Speaker 1: of my Sunday. I get all the chores out of
- 27:37Speaker 1: the way. I get my bets in. I get the
- 27:39Speaker 1: fantasy lineup set up. I get myself some lunch.
- 27:42Speaker 3: It's important. And when you start at 10, you take
- 27:44Speaker 3: all that away. You got to wake up at like five.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Right.
- 27:46Speaker 4: You go to the supermarket and you want to see
- 27:48Speaker 4: dudes in jerseys buying ice. Yes.
- 27:51Speaker 3: Like at 11 a.m. That's how you know, hey, we're
- 27:54Speaker 3: getting close to football.
- 27:55Speaker 8: Yes.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Taylor, get back to me and Izzy at 20 years.
- 27:59Speaker 3: We'll get back to Izzy. If I make it. If
- 28:00Speaker 3: I make it. Just tell Izzy and he'll relay it
- 28:03Speaker 3: to me when he gets there.
- 28:04Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox.
- 28:08Speaker 1: That is 877-99 on Fox. One more call here before
- 28:12Speaker 1: we fire Nick Sirianni. Let's go to Paulie, who's in
- 28:14Speaker 1: Ohio today.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Go ahead, Paul.
- 28:17Speaker 6: Yeah, I wanted you guys to watch the last 20
- 28:19Speaker 6: seconds of that Redskins-Giants game and watch number 98 in blue.
- 28:23Speaker 6: Kick the ball, push people around, knock Jaden Daniels over,
- 28:27Speaker 6: the ref sets the ball, and he kicks it again.
- 28:29Speaker 6: It's hilarious.
- 28:32Speaker 1: He's killing time. But Jaden's not in any sort of
- 28:35Speaker 1: rush to get up or call timeout.
- 28:37Speaker 4: That player, more aware of the time and situation than
- 28:40Speaker 4: Dan Quinn.
- 28:41Speaker 3: He actually knows what he's doing. Kudos to that player.
- 28:44Speaker 9: While he's kicking the ball, the commander's receivers are still
- 28:47Speaker 9: running back to the line of scrimmage, by the way.
- 28:49Speaker 3: So they're not even onside. We all like to think
- 28:52Speaker 3: we could do it. I know I could. I know
- 28:55Speaker 3: I could.
- 28:56Speaker 4: I challenge any NFL or NBA team to hire me
- 28:59Speaker 4: as an assistant coach right now.
- 29:02Speaker 8: Izzy, this is the exact problem. The people like Stu
- 29:05Speaker 8: Gatz are like, oh, they're an NFL coach. They get
- 29:08Speaker 8: paid millions. They know what they're doing. They don't know
- 29:10Speaker 8: what they're doing.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I'm not saying the coach. I don't blame the coach.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I blame Jaden Daniels. If you were Jaden Daniels, you
- 29:17Speaker 3: would know what to do in that spot, you're sure?
- 29:19Speaker 8: Yes.
- 29:19Speaker 3: What are you paying the coach for then?
- 29:22Speaker 4: Why does this guy get so much fame and so
- 29:24Speaker 4: much money if he can't even keep an eye on
- 29:26Speaker 4: the clock and know the rules?
- 29:28Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. Speaking of which, Nick Sirianni. Please.
- 29:31Speaker 4: I marvel all the time at how perfect these kickers are,
- 29:37Speaker 4: how like they can every single kickoff they're like oh
- 29:40Speaker 4: you want the ball at the one done Get the
- 29:42Speaker 4: ball at the one, guy tries to run it back.
- 29:44Speaker 3: Except the Rams kicker.
- 29:45Speaker 4: Well, so not only did Nick Sirianni choose not to
- 29:50Speaker 4: tell his kicker, hey, kick it through the end zone.
- 29:53Speaker 4: We don't want a kickoff return of any significance here.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Kick it through the end zone. We'll deal with what's
- 29:58Speaker 4: at a 65-yard Hail Mary. I don't even remember the
- 30:02Speaker 4: kickoff rules necessarily, but I think they get it at
- 30:04Speaker 4: the 30, 35. If they kick it through the end zone,
- 30:06Speaker 4: you're saying.
- 30:07Speaker 6: 35.
- 30:07Speaker 3: So, yeah, what's that?
- 30:07Speaker 4: 65-yard Hail Mary. I would take my chances with that,
- 30:11Speaker 4: and frankly— Even the fans of that team would say, hey,
- 30:15Speaker 4: if we have to lose to a Hail Mary of
- 30:17Speaker 4: that length, fine.
- 30:19Speaker 3: We're one of those people. We can complain. But the
- 30:21Speaker 3: idea that you don't tell your kicker.
- 30:23Speaker 4: And then this kicker who apparently was just feeling so
- 30:26Speaker 4: good about his field goal from earlier.
- 30:29Speaker 6: Yes.
- 30:29Speaker 4: That he kicks it 10 yards away. Like 10 yards
- 30:32Speaker 4: short of the end zone, right? That ball was at
- 30:33Speaker 4: about the 10. And so it's just like, you eliminate
- 30:37Speaker 4: that as a possibility. If Nick Sirianni, you're just yelling
- 30:40Speaker 4: and kicker, hey, kick it through the end zone. I'm
- 30:42Speaker 4: so done with Nick Sirianni. Like he got, I know
- 30:45Speaker 4: they won a Super Bowl. I know all, but there's
- 30:47Speaker 4: probably a... More than a dozen coaches who never coached
- 30:52Speaker 4: a day in their life who would actually do better
- 30:54Speaker 4: than Nick Sirianni has. Could probably even win a Super
- 30:56Speaker 4: Bowl instead of Nick Sirianni.
- 30:59Speaker 3: All right, but he won one, and he's been to two.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I know, and I'm saying anybody could have done it.
- 31:04Speaker 9: What if I told you Nick Sirianni's Eagles had the
- 31:07Speaker 9: football with 25 seconds left on a first down, and
- 31:10Speaker 9: the other team had one timeout, and they did not
- 31:13Speaker 9: run the clock all the way down?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Because that's what happened in London. They threw an incomplete pass.
- 31:18Speaker 9: Mekhi Lemon then went out of bounds on second down,
- 31:21Speaker 9: and the Jaguars used their timeout on third down. They
- 31:24Speaker 9: couldn't even run the clock down from 25 seconds left
- 31:28Speaker 9: with a first down and Jacksonville having one timeout.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Football makes people crazy. Can you imagine what that
- 31:33Speaker 3: team could do with a head coach and a quarterback? Man,
- 31:35Speaker 3: they'd be good.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gatz and
- 31:38Speaker 2: Company live weekdays at 3 p.m. Eastern, 12 p.m.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Pacific.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Football is driving people crazy. Taylor's walking around like a madman.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I don't know if you've noticed this, Izzy. He wants
- 31:53Speaker 1: to talk about disrespected traffic signs. I've never even thought
- 31:56Speaker 1: about a traffic sign and it being disrespected.
- 31:58Speaker 3: I've never been offended by a traffic sign.
- 32:01Speaker 1: So what are we discussing here, Taylor? The traffic sign
- 32:04Speaker 1: that you pay the least amount of attention to?
- 32:07Speaker 8: It's the most disrespected sign in America.
- 32:10Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 32:11Speaker 8: Traffic, signs, any kind of sign, it's the most disrespected one.
- 32:15Speaker 3: What's the most respected? The stop sign?
- 32:17Speaker 8: The stop sign, I think.
- 32:18Speaker 3: I don't know how many people come to a full stop.
- 32:21Speaker 3: You really thought about that? It's a slowdown sign.
- 32:23Speaker 8: Stop is more respected than yield.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Well, no, the yield sign I do not respect at all.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Correct.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Is that the sign then, Taylor? No, no, no, no.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I had a full conversation. I know this is odd
- 32:33Speaker 1: about the yield sign with Adam Gase.
- 32:36Speaker 6: Really?
- 32:36Speaker 8: Yes.
- 32:36Speaker 3: How long was that conversation?
- 32:38Speaker 1: Well, whether you come to a full stop, it was long.
- 32:40Speaker 1: He had time on his hands. It was after he
- 32:42Speaker 1: was fired and let go by the Jets. We were
- 32:44Speaker 1: on a golf course. Do you come to a.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Full stop at a yield or do you just slow
- 32:47Speaker 3: down at the yield? No, you just slow down. I
- 32:49Speaker 3: blow through it if I don't see it. Right. Yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 3: of course.
- 32:51Speaker 6: Yes.
- 32:52Speaker 8: So, Izzy, this is something we've talked about before at iHeart.
- 32:56Speaker 8: Because we share a building with a school– We are
- 32:59Speaker 8: now having to walk further and further away because all
- 33:01Speaker 8: the closed parking spots are being taken up. And I'm
- 33:05Speaker 8: looking at some of the signs when we're walking in,
- 33:07Speaker 8: and that's what made me think of the most disrespected
- 33:09Speaker 8: sign in America, the low-emission vehicle parking only.
- 33:14Speaker 6: Man.
- 33:15Speaker 8: Nobody cares what qualifies. I've never seen anybody even slightly
- 33:20Speaker 8: enforce it. It's not a parking restriction. It just feels
- 33:23Speaker 8: like a parking suggestion.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Yeah, I have no idea how much my car emits.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I don't know what kind of emissions it has. I'm
- 33:29Speaker 4: going to park here. You know what I'll put up
- 33:31Speaker 4: there with it is the compact car only sign.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Yes.
- 33:34Speaker 4: You know how many SUVs I've parked in a compact car?
- 33:37Speaker 3: No, I'm sorry. If the width is fine, then I'm
- 33:39Speaker 3: parking there. I parked my Jeep in one of those
- 33:41Speaker 3: spots today.
- 33:42Speaker 8: Izzy, I am walking. I am walking. up to the
- 33:46Speaker 8: entrance here. And I'm looking at the low emission vehicle
- 33:48Speaker 8: parking only sign. There's a Ford F-150 pickup truck. I
- 33:52Speaker 8: know for a fact that's not low emission. Think about it.
- 33:56Speaker 8: A handicap parking. People respect that.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Way too much.
- 33:59Speaker 8: The fire lane. People are going to think twice. You
- 34:02Speaker 8: could park the 18 wheeler in a low emission sign
- 34:07Speaker 8: and nobody is going to bat an eye at it.
- 34:09Speaker 4: In the same vein as I've never met somebody who's
- 34:11Speaker 4: won the lottery or one of those 50-50 raffles, I've
- 34:15Speaker 4: never heard of somebody getting a ticket for parking in
- 34:18Speaker 4: a handicapped space, even though it says, you know, very...
- 34:20Speaker 4: intimidating like 250 or 500 fine right never met somebody
- 34:24Speaker 4: who do that so either people have way too much
- 34:26Speaker 4: respect for that yeah they don't really give out those tickets.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I have the proper amount of respect for that how
- 34:30Speaker 1: do you feel about people who borrow a handicapped thing
- 34:33Speaker 1: you know the thing you have i'm so jealous of
- 34:36Speaker 1: those people who aren't handicapped and they use it to
- 34:38Speaker 1: park in the handicapped spots yeah.
- 34:40Speaker 4: No i'm jealous of them i don't know how they
- 34:41Speaker 4: have access to that but i would love that And
- 34:43Speaker 4: I'm sorry for those who, you know, need the parking spot.
- 34:46Speaker 3: But, you know, I kind of need it. I've done it.
- 34:48Speaker 8: Yeah, I've done it. And the excuse I always have, Izzy,
- 34:51Speaker 8: because I, when I use it, I very rarely use it.
- 34:54Speaker 8: I only use it in like a pinch. And I
- 34:56Speaker 8: feel so ashamed every time I use it. But if
- 35:00Speaker 8: we're being honest here, when I do use it, I
- 35:04Speaker 8: like concoct like a theory in my head of like
- 35:06Speaker 8: what I would say if somebody pressed me.
- 35:07Speaker 3: No, I limp. I mean.
- 35:11Speaker 8: I always say, Stu, that I'm going to pick somebody
- 35:14Speaker 8: up inside. If I use it at the mall, I'm
- 35:17Speaker 8: just saying, oh, I'm going in. And then at that point,
- 35:20Speaker 8: I think I'm just going to see three movies and
- 35:22Speaker 8: just killing eight hours until that person leaves me alone.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Speaking of signs, can we get a push-pull sign on
- 35:28Speaker 4: this one door here? Because I swear to God, I
- 35:30Speaker 4: get it wrong every.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Single time, and I'm embarrassed. Well, there are signs on
- 35:33Speaker 3: the door, and I still get it wrong.
- 35:34Speaker 5: Are there?
- 35:34Speaker 2: Yes.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Not on this door that I'm talking about.
- 35:37Speaker 8: To Izzy's point... It feels like somebody is switching if
- 35:41Speaker 8: it's a push or a pull door every time.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right. I mean, I've done it. I've seen
- 35:47Speaker 3: the sign. It's still gone the opposite way. I get
- 35:49Speaker 3: it wrong every single time.
- 35:51Speaker 4: How was your flag football weekend? You know what was
- 35:53Speaker 4: interesting about it? So normally I obviously play for, not obviously,
- 35:56Speaker 4: I play for a South Florida team, right? I usually
- 35:58Speaker 4: captain a team or whatever, but we didn't take a
- 36:00Speaker 4: team to this particular tournament that I wanted to play on.
- 36:03Speaker 4: And so I played as a free agent for my
- 36:05Speaker 4: buddy's team in L.A. So it was like very freeing
- 36:08Speaker 4: to see like, wow, I don't have to run this defense.
- 36:11Speaker 4: I just be told what to do and I can
- 36:13Speaker 4: do it.
- 36:13Speaker 3: And it was a lot of fun. We lost in
- 36:15Speaker 3: the semis.
- 36:15Speaker 4: I had a little bit of a if this was
- 36:18Speaker 4: my team situation because we're at the one and a
- 36:20Speaker 4: half yard line ready to punch it in for a
- 36:22Speaker 4: tie ball game, assuming we get the extra point.
- 36:24Speaker 3: And someone Dan Quinn'd you? Well, no.
- 36:26Speaker 4: I mean, I would have just, yeah, I would have
- 36:28Speaker 4: called the timeout because you can't take timeouts into overtime
- 36:30Speaker 4: and just told the quarterback, hey, run the ball in.
- 36:32Speaker 4: Because you get one quarterback running. Just run the ball in.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Keep things easy, nice and easy.
- 36:37Speaker 3: What does he do?
- 36:38Speaker 4: Threw a ball to the edge and got picked off.
- 36:40Speaker 4: I was already in my head saying, hey, should we
- 36:42Speaker 4: go for one? Should we go for two in the win?
- 36:44Speaker 4: And it's just like, oh, no.
- 36:46Speaker 3: He didn't run it in. How do you not run
- 36:47Speaker 3: it in? So, Taylor, it's cathartic.
- 36:49Speaker 1: It's freeing right up until the point where the coach
- 36:51Speaker 1: is calling in the wrong play. And then he wants
- 36:53Speaker 1: to take over and be the head coach.
- 36:57Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I think the reason I felt like it
- 36:58Speaker 4: was so freeing is because I think I played pretty
- 37:01Speaker 4: dang well.
- 37:01Speaker 3: I got an interception. I got a couple of sacks.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I got a little doggy here. You're a prize-free agent.
- 37:07Speaker 3: Maybe I should just be a free agent.
- 37:09Speaker 7: No.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Any team around the country can play me.
- 37:11Speaker 1: No, because when it gets to the serious parts of
- 37:13Speaker 1: the game, you want to be the guy making the calls.
- 37:16Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you're right. I should be. I should be.
- 37:19Speaker 3: Did you make any sort of suggestion or anything? I mean, no,
- 37:23Speaker 3: I should have just yelled around it, but I didn't
- 37:25Speaker 3: want to insult the dude.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Thanks to Izzy for joining us in studio today. Always
- 37:31Speaker 1: love having him. Weekend's getting shorter and shorter for Gutierrez.
- 37:37Speaker 1: And he said to me during a commercial break, and
- 37:39Speaker 1: I have no idea why, he loves to discuss airport lounges.
- 37:43Speaker 3: Oh, man. What? What a great play.
- 37:46Speaker 4: I don't know who invented these things. I don't know
- 37:49Speaker 4: who actually has access to these things. I know I
- 37:52Speaker 4: just got lucky. I got a credit card that lets
- 37:53Speaker 4: me have access to a lot of these lounges. How
- 37:56Speaker 4: did people exist before these things? How do currently people
- 38:00Speaker 4: exist without these things? Because I had one of those
- 38:04Speaker 4: weird situations.
- 38:05Speaker 3: It was a late flight. It was early evening, whatever,
- 38:06Speaker 3: 6 p.m.
- 38:07Speaker 6: Flight.
- 38:07Speaker 4: But, you know, the latest you can check out of
- 38:09Speaker 4: the hotel, even if you're, like, platinum, is, like, four, right?
- 38:11Speaker 4: So I'm like, all right, I've got a couple of
- 38:12Speaker 4: hours to kill here.
- 38:14Speaker 8: Yes.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Man, those places are amazing.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Like, I just never, I just can't take it for granted.
- 38:19Speaker 4: You can just eat as much as you want.
- 38:21Speaker 6: Yep.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Drink as much as you want.
- 38:23Speaker 6: Yes.
- 38:23Speaker 3: And it's all free. Yes. And it's absolutely insane.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:26Speaker 3: And the food's good.
- 38:27Speaker 4: The food's really, I mean, it was better than any
- 38:30Speaker 4: of the restaurants I was at in Minneapolis.
- 38:31Speaker 8: Yes.
- 38:32Speaker 3: And some of the seating is so comfortable, you question it.
- 38:35Speaker 1: You know, you question yourself as to why you're staying
- 38:37Speaker 1: in a hotel and not just sleeping there.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Well, I do.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Often set an alarm because it's just like, what if
- 38:43Speaker 4: I have a few too many glasses of wine and
- 38:45Speaker 4: then maybe take a little snooze fest and then all
- 38:47Speaker 4: of a sudden I miss my flight?
- 38:48Speaker 3: What's the worst thing that could happen?
- 38:50Speaker 8: Well, I get to stay at the lounge for even longer. So, Izzy,
- 38:52Speaker 8: you said, how do people survive without this? I think
- 38:56Speaker 8: the answer is I've never experienced it. And the airport
- 38:59Speaker 8: lounge almost sounds like a once you go back, you
- 39:02Speaker 8: never go back. Or once you experience, you never go back.
- 39:05Speaker 8: Because my plan when I go to the airport is
- 39:08Speaker 8: I'm showing up as close to the boarding time as
- 39:10Speaker 8: possible because I think I don't have access to the
- 39:13Speaker 8: lounge anymore. And I don't want to be sitting around
- 39:15Speaker 8: like a schlep the entire time.
- 39:17Speaker 3: Taylor, put it on the poll.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Are you OK if your if your flight is delayed
- 39:21Speaker 1: as long as you're sitting in an airport lounge?
- 39:24Speaker 3: I mean, I'm with Izzy on that. It could be
- 39:26Speaker 3: delayed for days. I've gotten so used to this luxury.
- 39:30Speaker 4: That if there's ever an airport that doesn't have an
- 39:32Speaker 4: Amex lounge and then doesn't have a lounge that I
- 39:35Speaker 4: have access to, I'm willing to pay a lot of money.
- 39:38Speaker 3: To get into these things.
- 39:40Speaker 8: I'm doing the math.
- 39:41Speaker 3: I'm like, so I have four glasses of wine, two
- 39:42Speaker 3: full plates of food. That's got to be worth $ 100, right?
- 39:45Speaker 2: Sure.
- 39:46Speaker 4: Now, I haven't done that, fortunately, because I've been able
- 39:48Speaker 4: to get into these things. But being rejected for an
- 39:50Speaker 4: airport lounge is one of the worst feelings in the world.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I go, I'm sorry.
- 39:54Speaker 8: Wait, what do you mean rejected?
- 39:56Speaker 3: Well, if you don't have an Amex Platinum card, you're
- 39:57Speaker 3: not getting in. Yeah.
- 39:59Speaker 4: And sometimes, even if you have money to offer, they're like, sorry,
- 40:02Speaker 4: we're full. We can't take stragglers. We can't take these
- 40:05Speaker 4: weirdos who don't have access to you.
- 40:07Speaker 3: To our lounge.
- 40:07Speaker 8: Wait, so you go to the lounge not knowing if
- 40:09Speaker 8: you're going to have access to it?
- 40:11Speaker 6: No.
- 40:11Speaker 3: These days, you just do your research ahead of time.
- 40:13Speaker 4: Make sure that either my credit card gets me in
- 40:16Speaker 4: or my status on an airline gets me in. But
- 40:18Speaker 4: there have been times where I thought my credit card
- 40:20Speaker 4: or my status would get me in and they're like, Sorry.
- 40:23Speaker 8: That's embarrassing.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's terrible.
- 40:25Speaker 4: And then there's this one time in Denver where the
- 40:27Speaker 4: Amex lounge was so packed, you're on like a wait
- 40:29Speaker 4: list and you're holding. I'm just like, oh no, now
- 40:31Speaker 4: I have to sit here. And then what if I
- 40:33Speaker 4: don't get in in time? I'm just going to have
- 40:34Speaker 4: to board my plane and just sit here and raw
- 40:36Speaker 4: dog the waiting room.
- 40:37Speaker 3: When they don't let you win, what do you think
- 40:39Speaker 3: they're basing that on? Just is it spending powers? Your balance? Yeah,
- 40:43Speaker 3: it's funny.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Man, the Amex card has a thing where if you
- 40:49Speaker 4: spend $ 75, 000 that year on your card, you get a
- 40:51Speaker 4: free guest every time you come to the lounge.
- 40:53Speaker 3: And I'm just like.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Man, that's a lot of money to have to spend
- 40:56Speaker 4: on a single credit card to just get a guest
- 40:58Speaker 4: on the four or five times you go to the
- 41:00Speaker 4: airport a year.
- 41:01Speaker 3: Totally worth it.
- 41:01Speaker 6: Yes.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Abby thanks me all the time.
- 41:03Speaker 8: Izzy, getting rejected by it made me think of the
- 41:07Speaker 8: Kelly Clarkson. Have you seen the feud that Kelly Clarkson's
- 41:10Speaker 8: in with a small Brooklyn shop called Art of Play? Apparently,
- 41:15Speaker 8: she wanted to buy a singing mechanical bird named Molly for.
- 41:19Speaker 3: $ 15, 000.
- 41:20Speaker 8: Right. For $ 15, 000. And the store basically came out and
- 41:23Speaker 8: said the bird wasn't for sale. But Clarkson was like, no,
- 41:26Speaker 8: it was for sale. They didn't let me buy it.
- 41:28Speaker 8: They didn't know that I could afford a $ 15, 000 mechanical bird.
- 41:32Speaker 8: And they're like feuding online where it basically sounds like
- 41:36Speaker 8: Kelly Clarkson took to Twitter almost immediately. Be like this store.
- 41:39Speaker 8: profiled me and said, I couldn't afford this bird when
- 41:41Speaker 8: I could have. And the store's coming out saying, no,
- 41:44Speaker 8: the bird is not for sale. We just offered her
- 41:46Speaker 8: an alternative.
- 41:47Speaker 4: So Kelly Clarkson thinks this is a Julia Roberts pretty
- 41:50Speaker 4: woman situation.
- 41:51Speaker 3: Yes, she said pretty woman.
- 41:53Speaker 4: And yet the people are just like, no, that's my
- 41:57Speaker 4: freaking bird.
- 41:57Speaker 3: I love the bird.
- 41:58Speaker 4: She can't have my bird for any amount of money. Yeah,
- 42:01Speaker 4: but every bird has a price. I mean, what does
- 42:04Speaker 4: this bird do? Because I would have given it up
- 42:06Speaker 4: for $ 500.
- 42:07Speaker 8: Oh, it looked terrible, to be honest. It was like
- 42:09Speaker 8: a bird on a wall, and it just chirps on occasion. Right,
- 42:13Speaker 8: so the store didn't want to give it up? The
- 42:15Speaker 8: store was like, the bird is not for sale. Here
- 42:18Speaker 8: are less expensive ones, or here are ones that are
- 42:21Speaker 8: cheaper than whatever you're claiming you saw for $ 15, 000. Like,
- 42:24Speaker 8: this is a $ 5, 000 one. And Kelly Clarkson was like, no,
- 42:28Speaker 8: now that you told me I can't get that one,
- 42:29Speaker 8: that's the one I want. And people are very torn
- 42:32Speaker 8: on it because they're like, why is a multimillionaire in
- 42:35Speaker 8: Kelly Clarkson... publicly attacking a small business.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Well, why is a small business not selling a.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Bird that is worthless for $ 15, 000 to someone who's willing
- 42:46Speaker 1: to pay $ 15, 000?
- 42:48Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, look, that small business owner must be
- 42:50Speaker 3: doing just fine.
- 42:53Speaker 4: No, no.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I'm keeping this bird. It doesn't matter how much money
- 42:55Speaker 3: you have. Name a small business that says no to $ 15, 000.
- 42:58Speaker 3: Take the rest of the day off. After I sell
- 43:02Speaker 3: this bird, I'm done for the day.
- 43:04Speaker 8: Also, there's no way a store in Brooklyn didn't know
- 43:07Speaker 8: who Kelly Clarkson is. Kelly Clarkson's like the perfect level
- 43:14Speaker 8: of fame where if somebody comes in and starts demanding
- 43:17Speaker 8: to buy the $ 15, 000 bird on your wall, you wouldn't
- 43:21Speaker 8: turn your nose up to them and be like, oh,
- 43:23Speaker 8: this person can't afford it.
- 43:25Speaker 4: Having never seen Kelly Clarkson in person, I don't know, like,
- 43:27Speaker 4: her stature or whatever, how short or tall she is.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 43:30Speaker 4: I think she's the perfect level of normal looking so
- 43:34Speaker 4: that she doesn't stand out in a crowd.
- 43:37Speaker 3: It's like, hey, is that Kelly Clarkson or is that
- 43:39Speaker 3: just a regular person? I think she looks pretty regular.
- 43:43Speaker 3: And it's not an insult whatsoever.
- 43:44Speaker 4: I'm just saying, you know, some people have– things that
- 43:47Speaker 4: stand out about them, features that stand out about them.
- 43:50Speaker 4: I feel like she's, you know, unless she's singing, I'm
- 43:52Speaker 4: not really going to know if that's Kelly Clarkson or not.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Well, if Kelly Clarkson isn't certain that they know it's
- 43:56Speaker 1: Kelly Clarkson, do you start singing if you're Kelly Clarkson?
- 43:59Speaker 3: Ah, that's a good one. Moment like this. Wow, you've
- 44:02Speaker 3: got to be somebody. Because I'm not certain I would
- 44:07Speaker 3: know if Kelly Clarkson walked.
- 44:08Speaker 8: Into the studio.
- 44:09Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness. That's exactly what she should have done.
- 44:11Speaker 4: She's like, does this bird sing this song? And then
- 44:14Speaker 4: just belt out one of her bangers. And it's just like, wow,
- 44:16Speaker 4: Kelly Clarkson, have my bird.
- 44:19Speaker 3: You know who I am now?
- 44:20Speaker 10: Right.
- 44:22Speaker 8: If Kelly Clarkson walked into the studio, she'd start requesting
- 44:24Speaker 8: to buy all our microphones.
- 44:26Speaker 3: And I would sell them for 15 grand apiece. What
- 44:30Speaker 3: do you mean? I wouldn't even ask anyone here at iHeart. Oh, man.
- 44:34Speaker 3: I would just rip them out and sell it to
- 44:36Speaker 3: her for 15 grand. I love airport lounges. Have a
- 44:41Speaker 3: great night, everyone.
