- 0:00Speaker 1: John Jay and Rich Good morning, Lauren, Hi, good morning.
- 0:04Speaker 1: What's up.
- 0:05Speaker 2: So I'm a high school teacher and I know that
- 0:09Speaker 2: this probably makes me a terrible employee, but senior prank
- 0:13Speaker 2: season is here, and it is my super Bowl. I
- 0:17Speaker 2: love senior prank season. And I'm only twenty six, so
- 0:21Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, pretty young for a high school teacher.
- 0:25Speaker 2: And so I'm still I'm still young. I'm still kind
- 0:28Speaker 2: of like immature, I would say. And so this, like
- 0:32Speaker 2: this is my jam. I love it so much. So
- 0:36Speaker 2: like the seniors are finally done pretending at this point
- 0:39Speaker 2: like to care about the discussion boards and the MLA
- 0:42Speaker 2: format and stuff that we've been talking about. And they're
- 0:45Speaker 2: all emotional too about graduating. So for this one final week,
- 0:51Speaker 2: the entire school and me are just like one track mind,
- 0:56Speaker 2: like this is all we're thinking about, and I feel
- 0:58Speaker 2: like it brings everyone to gether. So what none of
- 1:02Speaker 2: the teachers know, though, is that for the last eight
- 1:05Speaker 2: years that I've been at my current high school, I've
- 1:08Speaker 2: been helping the seniors pull their pranks off. Nothing harmful.
- 1:13Speaker 3: I promote charoffs, and you're behind half of them? Are
- 1:19Speaker 3: most of them? None?
- 1:21Speaker 4: None of the teachers know. The students have been doing
- 1:23Speaker 4: a great job about not snitching on me because I'm
- 1:27Speaker 4: helping them out. Like I once accidentally left my classroom
- 1:32Speaker 4: unlocked so that they could stack thirty seven traffic cones
- 1:36Speaker 4: in the principal's office.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And last year I fake argued with the janitor so
- 1:42Speaker 2: that I could distract them while some of the seniors
- 1:45Speaker 2: wheeled a full couch into the hallway and turn it
- 1:47Speaker 2: into a podcast set.
- 1:49Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I've also I've approved bathroom passes for kids carrying inflatable
- 1:54Speaker 2: pool floats and fog machines. So the staff still have
- 1:59Speaker 2: no idea who's helping them, because they they're starting to
- 2:03Speaker 2: respect that there's a teacher helping them, but they have
- 2:05Speaker 2: no idea for me. And this this is my super Bowl.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I'm so so here for this.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I wonder though, it's like nobody knows it's to you.
- 2:12Speaker 3: How did the students know to go to you as
- 2:14Speaker 3: a confidante.
- 2:14Speaker 5: How do they keeping her secret?
- 2:17Speaker 6: There's probably one leader that passes it down to the
- 2:19Speaker 6: next one, the next too to keep that quiet.
- 2:22Speaker 5: Like a senior that's friends. How did you pull that out?
- 2:25Speaker 1: Miss Lauren is a friend?
- 2:27Speaker 2: If you know what I mean, those are the kind
- 2:29Speaker 2: of teachers that you truly remember forever.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Though. I think that's pretty cool.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Have you got something masterfully planned for this year?
- 2:36Speaker 1: So we do.
- 2:38Speaker 2: However, I can't say anything about it because I don't
- 2:42Speaker 2: want to get spoiled, like it's it's lock and key,
- 2:45Speaker 2: like we're super serious.
- 2:46Speaker 5: About this, right because like if she were to tell
- 2:48Speaker 5: us what the senior prank is, I guarantee her boss
- 2:51Speaker 5: is listening. He's gonna calock it, you know what I mean.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, So senior pranks you made me think.
- 2:57Speaker 6: Obviously the senior pranks we did in high school, and
- 2:59Speaker 6: I remember, and there was I was part of some
- 3:01Speaker 6: of them. But one of them that I wasn't a
- 3:02Speaker 6: part of was they put glue in all the locks.
- 3:05Speaker 6: Since you just said locking key made me think of
- 3:07Speaker 6: that glue and all the locks, and that was they
- 3:09Speaker 6: removed all the bells so class never started. That's funny,
- 3:14Speaker 6: and it was like everyone just standing around forever and
- 3:16Speaker 6: it's like, man, it's like.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Nine we The glue, I feel like is destructive.
- 3:21Speaker 6: I was part of one that was part of it
- 3:23Speaker 6: was it was like there was like seven of us.
- 3:25Speaker 6: We went to a driving range a golf course, and
- 3:28Speaker 6: we thought we'd collect as many golf balls as possible
- 3:31Speaker 6: and put them up everywhere there was green grass, so
- 3:33Speaker 6: it looked like it was snow. And we went out
- 3:36Speaker 6: at midnight and we hopped the fence to this driving
- 3:38Speaker 6: range and it took forever to fill the back of
- 3:41Speaker 6: a pickup truck collecting balls. And then you know that
- 3:44Speaker 6: machine that looks like a tractor that collects the balls.
- 3:47Speaker 1: That was part.
- 3:47Speaker 6: After we collected as many as we could, it took forever.
- 3:50Speaker 6: We saw that we were like, oh my god, there's
- 3:51Speaker 6: a whole truckload of them here. So then we started
- 3:54Speaker 6: scooping and put them in the back of my friend
- 3:55Speaker 6: Chris's truck. Then we took the truck and we filled
- 3:58Speaker 6: it up and drove it on the campus and opped
- 4:00Speaker 6: all the golf balls everywhere. And guess what didn't make
- 4:02Speaker 6: an impact because then you neede hundreds of thousands of
- 4:05Speaker 6: golf balls to do that. But what happened was where
- 4:07Speaker 6: it backfired and we got in trouble. Is the next
- 4:09Speaker 6: morning when the kids showed up, they were throwing the
- 4:11Speaker 6: golf balls, so it broke windows and it backfires. That
- 4:17Speaker 6: one backfired. I had lots of backfired pranks that we did.
- 4:20Speaker 6: Another one we did because we were on the surf team.
- 4:22Speaker 6: We thought it'd be great against the football team to
- 4:26Speaker 6: take gasoline and write the word surf in the middle
- 4:28Speaker 6: of the football field.
- 4:29Speaker 1: So when we did, we only we ran out of gas.
- 4:32Speaker 6: We only put sirp and then we lit it too
- 4:35Speaker 6: soon and it went and the middle of the football
- 4:38Speaker 6: field caught on fire. And we all took off running, yes,
- 4:41Speaker 6: and fire trucks showed up and everything, and we never
- 4:43Speaker 6: got caught.
- 4:44Speaker 5: There was a kid that got arrested for one of
- 4:45Speaker 5: our school senior party.
- 4:46Speaker 6: That's what Remember what I was about to say is
- 4:48Speaker 6: that what I did is what Ryan Reynolds got accused
- 4:50Speaker 6: of the other day. Like it was just when I
- 4:51Speaker 6: look back at the brainstorming session of those meetings, it's
- 4:54Speaker 6: so stupid, like how did someone not go, what do
- 4:57Speaker 6: you think you're going to light the football field on
- 4:59Speaker 6: fire or something. That's why I give grace to Ryan
- 5:02Speaker 6: Reynolds for doing that, because when you're a kid, you
- 5:04Speaker 6: do stupid thing.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Okay, So what were you saying.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Payton, No, I was just saying there was a kid
- 5:08Speaker 5: that got arrested for a senior prank because he drove
- 5:11Speaker 5: a motorcycle through the school basically from like the front
- 5:15Speaker 5: all the way through the back. The seniors opened up
- 5:16Speaker 5: the right there. Yeah, but like we had an indoor school,
- 5:20Speaker 5: Like that's like exhaust fumes in a confined space, like
- 5:23Speaker 5: you can kill.
- 5:24Speaker 1: That's what happened in one of the Indiana Jones movies
- 5:26Speaker 1: with his son.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Was crazy about.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Hey, Lauren, thanks for calling and bringing back these fun memories.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I have a great day.
