- 0:00Speaker 1: Per It's media podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the
- 0:11Speaker 1: only game show where conservation always wins. I'm your host,
- 0:15Speaker 1: Spencer Newhart and today we're joined by Brody Randall, Seth Chester, Keith,
- 0:20Speaker 1: Corey Taylan and Logan. This is a ten round quiz
- 0:23Speaker 1: show with questions from meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and cooking. There is a prize. Meat Eater will donate
- 0:30Speaker 1: five hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And because this episode is brought to you by Athletic Brewing,
- 0:39Speaker 1: they're matching our five hundred dollars donation as well as
- 0:42Speaker 1: sponsoring a moneyball question of the week. Thanks to Athletic Brewing,
- 0:46Speaker 1: today's game has has the potential for a fifteen hundred
- 0:49Speaker 1: dollars conservation donation. Now for the stat of the week.
- 0:53Speaker 1: This week, we're looking at player performance in the cooking category.
- 0:57Speaker 1: In the history of all Meat Eater cooking question, the
- 1:00Speaker 1: player average is fifty one percent at the top of
- 1:04Speaker 1: the leaderboard. Do we have any guesses who will that
- 1:06Speaker 1: make it? That's gotta be the hardest category, the easiest.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Our ranging in categories is cooking at fifty one percent,
- 1:13Speaker 1: that I think is hunting in conservation at forty seven percent,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and then fishing is forty four percent. So they're all
- 1:19Speaker 1: within seven percentage points of each other. Oh, guess Brody,
- 1:22Speaker 1: you think Brody is wrong? Who's our best? I think
- 1:28Speaker 1: Randall is quite satisfied here that Logan, who's our best
- 1:31Speaker 1: performer in the cooking category? Now? Cal is also wrong? Chester,
- 1:34Speaker 1: who's our best performer?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Steve?
- 1:36Speaker 1: Steve is also wrong? What do you got Keith? Who's
- 1:39Speaker 1: our best performer in the cooking category?
- 1:43Speaker 2: Does Danielle count?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Danielle is not our best performer? Our best. At the
- 1:47Speaker 1: top of the leader board is Yiannis, who gets seventy
- 1:51Speaker 1: percent of cooking questions correct. That's followed by Randall with
- 1:55Speaker 1: sixty eight percent, Cal with sixty seven percent, Brody with
- 1:59Speaker 1: sixty five percent, Steve with sixty three percent, and Maggie,
- 2:03Speaker 1: Hudlow and Max with fifty three percent. The cooking category
- 2:07Speaker 1: has the fewest questions of all four verticals. Now here's
- 2:11Speaker 1: our Infrequently Asked Question segment. If you have a trivia
- 2:13Speaker 1: related question for our crew, send it to Trivia at
- 2:17Speaker 1: the medeater dot com with the subject line ifaq Adam
- 2:21Speaker 1: McCulloch wants to know. I am wondering if Spencer could
- 2:24Speaker 1: review the correct answers at the end of each round
- 2:26Speaker 1: to help listeners with their final score. I find myself
- 2:30Speaker 1: listening when I'm doing chores or working and tend to
- 2:32Speaker 1: lose track of my right answers. Now, this has been
- 2:35Speaker 1: a common request over the last few months, so we're
- 2:37Speaker 1: gonna be doing that. I think. I think Adam is right.
- 2:40Speaker 1: After question nine, we'll review all the correct answers so
- 2:43Speaker 1: you can get a refresher on how well you're doing
- 2:46Speaker 1: and how you stack up against Brody and Keith and
- 2:49Speaker 1: Corey and everyone else in the room. We have some
- 2:52Speaker 1: housekeeping to get to. In a recent episode of Trivia,
- 2:55Speaker 1: we had a question about what show opens with the
- 2:58Speaker 1: fish and Whole song, which is a familiar whistled tune.
- 3:01Speaker 1: The answer was The Andy Griffith Show, and in the
- 3:04Speaker 1: flavortext I said, how Andy and Opie are walking by
- 3:07Speaker 1: a river, but that was wrong. They were actually by
- 3:10Speaker 1: Franklin Canyon Reservoir in Los Angeles, which is one of
- 3:14Speaker 1: the most famous bodies of water in Hollywood. The reservoir
- 3:18Speaker 1: was created in nineteen fourteen and became a popular spot
- 3:21Speaker 1: for filming in the nineteen thirties. It's estimated that about
- 3:23Speaker 1: twenty five films are shot there each year. Some of
- 3:27Speaker 1: those include A Nightmare on Elm Street, Creature from the Black,
- 3:30Speaker 1: Lagoon On Golden Pond, Purple Rain, Rambo, The Great Outdoors, Kindergarten,
- 3:36Speaker 1: Cop Silence of the Lambs, Big Mama's House, Doctor Doolittle, Too,
- 3:40Speaker 1: National Treasure, and I Love You Beth Cooper. The reservoir
- 3:43Speaker 1: also makes frequent television cameos, appearing in According to Jim
- 3:48Speaker 1: American Horror Story Bonanza, The Brady Bunch, CSI Er Green Acres,
- 3:54Speaker 1: How I Met Your Mother, Lassie NCIS, Sons of Anarchy,
- 3:58Speaker 1: The Young and the Restless, and Stone Trek Fail. You're
- 4:01Speaker 1: a pop culture guy in here. Can you recognize any
- 4:04Speaker 1: scenes that were maybe shot at this reservoir when you
- 4:07Speaker 1: heard that list? No, Randall, how about you?
- 4:12Speaker 2: Well, I'm wondering about.
- 4:14Speaker 3: At the beginning of Silence of the Lambs, aren't they
- 4:17Speaker 3: jogging around uh at the FBI training center whatever the body.
- 4:22Speaker 4: That's one thing that that caught me because a lot
- 4:24Speaker 4: of times when you see people jogging around a lake
- 4:26Speaker 4: in a movie, it's usually Echo Park Lake. There was
- 4:31Speaker 4: like a fountain, and that's that's a lot more recognizable. Yeah, okay,
- 4:34Speaker 4: but I've never I wouldn't recognize Franklin Canyon.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And then in Big Mama's House.
- 4:40Speaker 1: That, despite his reputation, is the official waterway of Beverly Hills.
- 4:44Speaker 1: The reservoir actually has a nice conservation story. In the
- 4:47Speaker 1: nineteen seventies, the land around it was set to be developed.
- 4:50Speaker 1: That's when the National Park Service stepped in to purchase it,
- 4:53Speaker 1: preserving six hundred and five acres of wilderness that's now
- 4:56Speaker 1: known as Franklin Canyon Park. Now. The Shelby Index for
- 5:00Speaker 1: today's round is a three, so our winner should get
- 5:02Speaker 1: six correct answers. And with that, we're onto the game
- 5:05Speaker 1: of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Here we go, it's
- 5:10Speaker 1: going on. Look, I need to know what I stand
- 5:14Speaker 1: to win everything?
- 5:17Speaker 2: How's that? Just tend to win everything? Demon Suckers?
- 5:28Speaker 1: Question one The topic is fishing. This will be multiple choice.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Which of these states is the lake trout not native
- 5:36Speaker 1: to Is it Maine, Oregon, Minnesota, or Montana? Which of
- 5:44Speaker 1: these states is the lake trout not native to Maine, Oregon, Minnesota, Montana, Phil.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Do you have any any nice adotes about any of
- 6:00Speaker 1: those films or TV shows from that list?
- 6:04Speaker 4: Nel Spencer, sorry to disappoint you.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Should it should give you a heads up? Have you
- 6:11Speaker 1: seen Big Mama's House? Randall?
- 6:14Speaker 2: I don't know that.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I have feel like you're not their target audience. What
- 6:18Speaker 1: are you saying that you're not there?
- 6:20Speaker 3: I just thought that was an overwhelming list of television
- 6:24Speaker 3: programs and movies.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Which of these states is the lake trout not native
- 6:28Speaker 1: to Maine, Oregon, Minnesota, Montana. Is anybody confident in their answer? No,
- 6:35Speaker 1: shrew is shaking their head. No, lake trout is native
- 6:39Speaker 1: to three of these states. It is not native to
- 6:42Speaker 1: one of them, Maine, Oregon, Minnesota, Montana. Is everybody ready?
- 6:50Speaker 1: It looks like Brody's.
- 6:54Speaker 2: For everyone?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Brody, seven of our players are ready. You're not. Go
- 7:00Speaker 1: ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester saying Montana,
- 7:05Speaker 1: Cory sang Montana, Keith saying Organ, Taylan sang Orgon, Randall
- 7:10Speaker 1: saying Oregon, Seth sang Montana, Logan sang Oregon, Brody sang Oregon.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Nobody said Mayne or Minnesota. The correct answer is Oregon.
- 7:20Speaker 1: About half of you got that right. Lake trout are
- 7:25Speaker 1: native to about a dozen states, with most of them
- 7:27Speaker 1: being in the New England or Great Lakes region. Montana
- 7:32Speaker 1: is an odd outlier with lakes taking with lakers taking
- 7:35Speaker 1: refuge in water here along the ice sheet during the
- 7:38Speaker 1: place to Scene era. After the ice melted, the trout
- 7:41Speaker 1: recolonized the deep lakes that the glaciers formed. So native Domaine, Minnesota,
- 7:47Speaker 1: and Montana not native to Oregon. Question two, the topic
- 7:51Speaker 1: is hunting. This gun brand introduced the super Black Eagle
- 7:56Speaker 1: to the American market in nineteen ninety one. Randal, Chester, Keith, Corey, Seth,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and Brody all know this. That leaves Logan and Taylin
- 8:09Speaker 1: who are not as confident. This gun brand introduced the
- 8:12Speaker 1: Super Black Eagle to the American market in nineteen ninety one. Randal,
- 8:18Speaker 1: you're basically a federal arms dealer over there.
- 8:21Speaker 3: We shouldn't joke about that anymore because they've changed the rules.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Okay, they've changed the rules.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Tell us about it to determine whether or not someone
- 8:30Speaker 3: is engaged in the business of.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Arms truck so wouldn't be Randall.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Yeah, the hobbyists in the internet, in the corners of
- 8:38Speaker 3: the internet, and we're showing out are much concerned about this.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Yeah, the ATF loves folks like Randall.
- 8:43Speaker 1: So did you ever own own a Super Black e No?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Not really a shotgun man, Okay, I like to own
- 8:49Speaker 3: novelty shotguns, but.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Not useful ones.
- 8:54Speaker 1: This gun brand introduced the Super Black Eagle to the
- 8:57Speaker 1: American market in nineteen ninety one. Does anybody own one
- 9:00Speaker 1: of these? Got what Keith does? Keith is our loane
- 9:05Speaker 1: super Black Eagle owner. Okay, Brody seems a little torn
- 9:10Speaker 1: maybe on what he's come up with.
- 9:11Speaker 2: All right, I always won one of these?
- 9:16Speaker 1: Does that help you?
- 9:17Speaker 2: Brody?
- 9:18Speaker 1: Seth is an aspiring Super Black Eagle owner. It's everybody ready,
- 9:24Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester saying Benelly,
- 9:29Speaker 1: Corey sang Ruger, Keith saying Benelly, Taylor sang Savage, Randall
- 9:34Speaker 1: saying Benelly, Seth saying Benelly, Logan sang Benelly. Brody crossed out.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Ruger wrote down Smith and West and the correct answer
- 9:42Speaker 1: is Benelly. About half of you got that right. It
- 9:47Speaker 1: was thought about that hint you had in a question.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I guess what was the hint that it came to
- 9:51Speaker 1: the American market. Yeh in nineteen ninety one. That's that's right,
- 9:54Speaker 1: there was your hint. It was the first Semiato shotgun
- 9:58Speaker 1: that took twelve gage three and half inch shells, which
- 10:01Speaker 1: made it an instant sensation with American water fowlers. The
- 10:05Speaker 1: black market for the Black Eagle quickly sprung up, with
- 10:08Speaker 1: some of the shotguns selling for double their initial price.
- 10:12Speaker 1: According to Guns Magazine quote, investors were buying them up
- 10:15Speaker 1: for future retirement income. It was a mad, mad time.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Now it's an Italian shotgun, right right. So it came
- 10:22Speaker 1: to the American market in nineteen ninety one. Question three.
- 10:27Speaker 1: The topic is conservation. According to Perdue, the clinical signs
- 10:32Speaker 1: of big game with this disease are quote, lesions on
- 10:36Speaker 1: the lungs, ribcage, and chest cavity. This is according to
- 10:42Speaker 1: Purdue University. The clinical signs of big game with this
- 10:46Speaker 1: disease are lesions on the lungs, ribcage, and chest cavity.
- 10:52Speaker 1: This is question three. Brodie is the only want so
- 11:00Speaker 1: far to write anything down? This may be a zero
- 11:05Speaker 1: percenter last question or last round. We had a one
- 11:08Speaker 1: hundred what's so funny? Randall?
- 11:11Speaker 2: I I just realized I was hearing pug noises. Sorry,
- 11:15Speaker 2: I thought it was my stomach.
- 11:16Speaker 1: But put that pug up to the mic again for us, Keith.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Get my answer right first here, bring the mic down, I.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Want to disturb.
- 11:27Speaker 1: According to Purdue, the clinical signs of big game with
- 11:30Speaker 1: this disease are lesions on the lungs, rib cage, and
- 11:35Speaker 1: chest cavity. That was a good one. It was everybody
- 11:46Speaker 1: clear out here here. This is question three. Randall, how
- 11:58Speaker 1: do you feel about the answer that you have to
- 11:59Speaker 1: come up with yet?
- 12:00Speaker 3: Well, the answer that I will come up with I
- 12:03Speaker 3: feel great about. Okay, the one I have currently not
- 12:08Speaker 3: so yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 1: How about you, Seth? You were the only folks who
- 12:13Speaker 1: isn't threatening to change their answer right now, so you
- 12:16Speaker 1: must be a little confident.
- 12:17Speaker 2: I certainly wrote down a disease.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I think.
- 12:26Speaker 1: It's everybody ready. Randall and Brody Chester doing some scribbling
- 12:32Speaker 1: and erasing. Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 12:38Speaker 1: We have Chester without an answer, Corey without an answer,
- 12:40Speaker 1: Keith saying Bruce Losis, Taylor saying chronic wasting, Randall saying pneumonia,
- 12:47Speaker 1: Seth saying EHD, Logan saying c w D Brody saying, ehd,
- 12:52Speaker 1: nobody got it. The correct answer is tuberculosis. Nobody got
- 12:58Speaker 1: that one right.
- 12:58Speaker 3: If only it could have given us a clue like
- 13:00Speaker 3: this used to plague tenement homes in the early twentieth century.
- 13:06Speaker 1: BOVI TB is most commonly found in cattle and deer,
- 13:10Speaker 1: but it also makes rare appearances and raccoons, possums, coyotes,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and pigs. The USDA considers most states tuberculosis free, but
- 13:19Speaker 1: sporadic outbreaks do still occur. Most recently, deer in Minnesota, Michigan,
- 13:24Speaker 1: and Indiana have tested positive for the disease. Question four.
- 13:29Speaker 1: This is our listener question of the Week, which was
- 13:32Speaker 1: won by Warren Zimistrad for sending this great question. Warren
- 13:36Speaker 1: is going to get a board game signed by the
- 13:38Speaker 1: crew if you want a chance to win our listener
- 13:39Speaker 1: Question of the Week and send your question to Trivia
- 13:42Speaker 1: at the meadeater dot com. What Television Angler sells a
- 13:46Speaker 1: three hour DVD of bloopers that he calls his best
- 13:50Speaker 1: goof ups and Funny Moments. What Television Angler sells a
- 13:57Speaker 1: three hour DVD of bloopers that he he calls his
- 14:00Speaker 1: best quote goof ups and funny moments, Randall, you have
- 14:06Speaker 1: this one right, I feel pretty good now. Randall is
- 14:10Speaker 1: a trivia fiend. He was recently attending some trivia local
- 14:14Speaker 1: here to Montana and he texted me with a lofty accusation.
- 14:18Speaker 1: What happened Randall at that trivia.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Well, it was just a probably just a strange coincidence.
- 14:25Speaker 3: But a day or two after the episode released in
- 14:28Speaker 3: which there's a question about the deep Water Horizon known
- 14:31Speaker 3: to some as the blue Water Horizon, there was a
- 14:35Speaker 3: very similarly phrased question at a local trivia game in
- 14:40Speaker 3: which I was not competing, so there was no unfair advantage.
- 14:44Speaker 2: But I just thought that was strange.
- 14:45Speaker 1: That is strange. It's not like we were on an
- 14:47Speaker 1: anniversary or it's like local to this area, and you
- 14:50Speaker 1: said the answer they were looking for was also deepwater horizons, yes,
- 14:53Speaker 1: which is I felt like a unique way to phrase that.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So yep, it was maybe maybe some thievery happening.
- 14:59Speaker 3: It was a I don't doubt that that goes on,
- 15:02Speaker 3: but for me to be there when a question was
- 15:07Speaker 3: that and I wasn't even playing this game, I just
- 15:08Speaker 3: walked in for a beverage.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Now you can you can tell it. It happens with
- 15:17Speaker 1: listeners who will lift questions after off of shows, like
- 15:21Speaker 1: they'll see something on Jeopardy or or any other like
- 15:24Speaker 1: trivia based show, and then I'll get like seven of
- 15:27Speaker 1: the same question in a two day span where folks
- 15:29Speaker 1: think it's relevant to this category. So it does happen.
- 15:32Speaker 1: It does happen. Here's the question again, what television angler
- 15:36Speaker 1: sells a three hour DVD of bloopers that he calls
- 15:39Speaker 1: his best goof ups and funny moments. Chester with a
- 15:43Speaker 1: blank Board, surprisingly sad that you're disappointed in Chester for
- 15:51Speaker 1: having a blank board.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Here, not disappointed, He's just angry.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You're just not disappointing. So I'm just pissed him. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: can see him off his boat. You're you're going to
- 16:07Speaker 1: bed at yourself when you hear the answer. You must
- 16:16Speaker 1: be a fun way to feel. Chester is everybody ready?
- 16:22Speaker 1: I think Brody is the most I'm not. It's everybody ready.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester without
- 16:30Speaker 1: an answer. Cory saying the dude with the Tennessee hat,
- 16:34Speaker 1: Keith saying Bill Dance, who happens to be the dude
- 16:37Speaker 1: with the Tennessee hat? Taylor without an answer, Randall saying
- 16:41Speaker 1: Bill Dance, Seth saying Bill Dance. Logan sang Oliver Nighte
- 16:46Speaker 1: Brody saying Bills correct answer is Bill Dance. We're not
- 16:53Speaker 1: going to give it to somebody who wrote down Bill
- 16:55Speaker 1: Tennessee had or the guy who is the Tennessee hat.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Bill Dance's blooper videos on YouTube have over twenty million views.
- 17:06Speaker 1: They range from hitting his shin on a trailer hitch
- 17:09Speaker 1: to setting a hook so hard that he falls over
- 17:11Speaker 1: backwards into the water. As one YouTube commenter put it,
- 17:15Speaker 1: Bill Dance is the only man who can make bass
- 17:17Speaker 1: fishing look dangerous. Here's a look at one of my
- 17:20Speaker 1: favorite bloopers from Bill. Play the clip Phil look at
- 17:24Speaker 1: that style too. Our players are watching Bill Dance remove
- 17:34Speaker 1: a snag from a tree and then a cotton mouth
- 17:38Speaker 1: falls down on it. But what I think is a
- 17:40Speaker 1: cotton mouth? What is it? I don't think they'd be
- 17:49Speaker 1: That's a good point. Probably just a bull snake. Now
- 17:55Speaker 1: my question is like, doesn't it seem like some of
- 17:58Speaker 1: his stuff is barry stage Oh so he admitted once
- 18:02Speaker 1: that some of the bloopers are recreating things that happened
- 18:05Speaker 1: when the cameras weren't on now this appears to be organic,
- 18:09Speaker 1: and I think many of them are. But as Brody said,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you'll find some stage ones in there. Now here comes
- 18:15Speaker 1: the instant replay. You can only see this on our
- 18:18Speaker 1: YouTube channel. Some Bill dance Kung Fu here? That would
- 18:25Speaker 1: be terrifying.
- 18:26Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything funny about it.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I didn't see the kick Bill dance. It is the
- 18:34Speaker 1: correct answer question five. The topic is cooking named after
- 18:41Speaker 1: a fish. This Massachusetts peninsula is considered one of the
- 18:46Speaker 1: best places in the world for fresh seafood.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Sorry, guy, it's gonna be a second for us on
- 18:50Speaker 4: the TV.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Here, the topic is cooking named after a fish. This
- 18:56Speaker 1: Massachusetts peninsula is considered one of the best places in
- 19:00Speaker 1: the world for fresh seafood. Randall, you have this one right,
- 19:06Speaker 1: I hope so. Keith you have this one right.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Feeling good about it?
- 19:08Speaker 1: Keith, have you been to this place? Negative? Never a
- 19:15Speaker 1: Massachusetts peninsula that's named after a fish. Randall and Keith
- 19:23Speaker 1: may be the only two who get this right. Named
- 19:31Speaker 1: after a fish, This Massachusetts peninsula is considered one of
- 19:34Speaker 1: the best places in the world for fresh seafood. Chess,
- 19:38Speaker 1: did you ever watch Bill dance's fish and show yes
- 19:42Speaker 1: all the time, I imagine occasionally, Yeah, been doing it
- 19:47Speaker 1: for a long time. To create a three hour blooper DVD?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Well not if you constantly do the playback in slow motion.
- 19:56Speaker 3: That stretches your content way out.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Or would you have a good blooper reel of your
- 20:02Speaker 1: fishing guiding days?
- 20:04Speaker 5: Oh yeah, if you had a camera on go pro
- 20:07Speaker 5: attached to the boat.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Anything good come to mind. Hooks, your faces falling over
- 20:15Speaker 1: the boat.
- 20:17Speaker 5: Hooks constantly, and people really being woosies thinking that it's
- 20:22Speaker 5: gonna like you know, it's a size like just a
- 20:28Speaker 5: tiny little nymph getting caught in someone's finger and they
- 20:31Speaker 5: they think they need to go to the er. And
- 20:33Speaker 5: then you do that now when you got surgeon Chester
- 20:35Speaker 5: that little monofilament trick and pop it out. I don't know,
- 20:39Speaker 5: there's nothing really that comes to mind, but be a
- 20:44Speaker 5: lot of asshole clients like that'd be good. I'd watch
- 20:48Speaker 5: that and like wives out fishing husbands a lot things
- 20:51Speaker 5: like that. It's probably got some good ones.
- 20:54Speaker 1: I swamped my boat with some clients on the big hole.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Oh that sounds a little more serious than the goof
- 21:00Speaker 1: ups and funny moments that bill dance. It was creey.
- 21:02Speaker 3: It's funny now, but yeah, it was annoying at the time.
- 21:06Speaker 5: Pooping my waiters, not that anyone would know on the video.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Do we get that filler rolling, Crystal?
- 21:16Speaker 1: Can you elaborate?
- 21:19Speaker 5: I ate some fried chicken from a local establishment.
- 21:22Speaker 4: We've been through this.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Maybe me eater, okay, but long missed it and h yeah,
- 21:32Speaker 5: I figured it was just didn't I didn't make it
- 21:34Speaker 5: to the woods, so I cinched up my waiting belt
- 21:37Speaker 5: nice and tight.
- 21:39Speaker 1: Just nothing else to do.
- 21:45Speaker 3: I mean, was there any sort of visible reaction on
- 21:51Speaker 3: your part, like if we were to play it back
- 21:53Speaker 3: in super slow motion with the Benny Hill Gang.
- 21:57Speaker 5: I mean, imagine rolling really hard to the bank, throwing
- 22:00Speaker 5: down an anchor, hopping out, getting halfway to the woods,
- 22:04Speaker 5: and just turning around and coming back.
- 22:11Speaker 2: You could have just faked it. You could have gone
- 22:14Speaker 2: for five minutes, just come back and said, everything's normal.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Boys, that's a good fishing guy. Chester clients are definitely like, honest,
- 22:29Speaker 1: that was the biggest of the day. Again, we're on
- 22:33Speaker 1: question five, named after a fish. This Massachusetts peninsula is
- 22:38Speaker 1: considered one of the best places in the world for
- 22:41Speaker 1: fresh seafood. Is anybody besides Randall or Confidence they have
- 22:48Speaker 1: this one right? Yes, I know Taylor. Have you been
- 22:52Speaker 1: there before?
- 22:53Speaker 3: No, I haven't.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Keith or excuse me, Corey? Have you have you visited?
- 22:58Speaker 2: Have not?
- 22:59Speaker 1: Massachusetts? Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 23:04Speaker 1: We have Chester without an answer, Corey saying cape Cod,
- 23:08Speaker 1: Keith saying cape Cod, Taylor saying cape Cod, Randall saying
- 23:12Speaker 1: cape Cod, Seth without an answer, Logan saying Marlon Brody
- 23:16Speaker 1: without an answer. He's taking a furious sip of his
- 23:24Speaker 1: The correct answer is cape cod. Cape Cod was named
- 23:28Speaker 1: by an English explorer who took note of the peninsula's
- 23:31Speaker 1: abundance of cod. According to National Geographic Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket
- 23:36Speaker 1: and Cape Cod are some of the best places on
- 23:38Speaker 1: Earth to order seafood. The region is home to some
- 23:41Speaker 1: of the finest tasting oysters, clams, lobster, cod, tuna, and
- 23:45Speaker 1: striped bass. Historians actually believe the wooden lobster pot was
- 23:49Speaker 1: invented there in the early eighteen hundreds. Fill we're halfway
- 23:53Speaker 1: through the game of trivia, give us a leader board update.
- 23:55Speaker 4: For some reason, I was unprepared for this. I don't
- 23:57Speaker 4: know why I've done this one hundred times. Brody Chester
- 24:03Speaker 4: and Corey, I'll have one point a piece. Wait to go, guys, Logan,
- 24:07Speaker 4: Seth and Tailan have two and tied up in first
- 24:10Speaker 4: place are Keith and Randall. They've got four points.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Are defending champion Keith striking fear in the eyes of
- 24:19Speaker 1: Randall and Brody. Question six. The topic is wildlife. This
- 24:32Speaker 1: is the Athletic Brewing moneyball question of the week. For
- 24:36Speaker 1: every correct answer provided, Athletic Brewing is going to make
- 24:39Speaker 1: a one hundred dollars donation that's capped at five hundred dollars.
- 24:42Speaker 1: This week, Athletic Brewing is giving to the Audubon Society.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Here is your moneyball question. What animal did Edgar Allan
- 24:51Speaker 1: Poe describe as being quote grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt, and ominous?
- 25:00Speaker 1: Question six, the topic is wildlife. For every correct answer
- 25:04Speaker 1: our players get, Athletic Brewing is going to make an
- 25:07Speaker 1: extra one hundred dollars donation. Here's the question, what animal
- 25:12Speaker 1: did Edgar Allan Poe describe as being quote grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt,
- 25:18Speaker 1: an ominous? Maybe it was a pug? Yeah, Corey, you
- 25:27Speaker 1: know this one. It picks okay. Randall is also confident.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Brody I think was the first to answer Chester. Do
- 25:34Speaker 1: you have this one right? Probably not okay? One hundred
- 25:38Speaker 1: dollars per correct answer, capped five hundred dollars. This is
- 25:44Speaker 1: question six. You have it right, seth Okay, I have
- 25:48Speaker 1: an animal though, Okay, is everybody ready? Go ahead and
- 25:54Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Chester saying Raven, Corey saying Raven,
- 25:58Speaker 1: keep saying Raven, Taylor saying Crow, Randall saying Raven, Set
- 26:04Speaker 1: saying Bear, Logan saying Kyote, Brody saying Raven. The correct
- 26:08Speaker 1: answer was Raven. I think we had five people get
- 26:12Speaker 1: that right.
- 26:13Speaker 2: On to count Crow.
- 26:15Speaker 1: You want to count Crow.
- 26:16Speaker 2: I just think it's basically the same thing.
- 26:20Speaker 1: It's not Taylan. We're not going.
- 26:23Speaker 2: For crow. I appreciate that. It's just a thumb in
- 26:26Speaker 2: the eye of the bird. People.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Now that line is from Edgar Allen Poe's most famous poem,
- 26:31Speaker 1: The Raven. It's about a man who lost his lover
- 26:34Speaker 1: and believes he's being he's having a supernatural encounter with
- 26:38Speaker 1: a talking bird. Now, our thespian Phil is going to
- 26:41Speaker 1: entertain us by reading a Stanza from the poem Take
- 26:44Speaker 1: it Away.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Phil, the raven never flitting still, is sitting still, is
- 26:56Speaker 4: sitting on the palid bust of palace, just above my
- 26:59Speaker 4: chamber door, and his eyes have all the seeming of
- 27:02Speaker 4: a demon that is dreaming. And the lamplight or him
- 27:06Speaker 4: streaming throws his shadow on the floor, and my soul
- 27:09Speaker 4: from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Shall be lifted.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Never more.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Well well done. It was so good watching a YouTube video.
- 27:25Speaker 1: He killed the lights. He brought some dramatic lighting up
- 27:28Speaker 1: on his face. I made that request to Phill at
- 27:31Speaker 1: ten pm last night, and then he still brought that
- 27:33Speaker 1: level of performance and he memorized it.
- 27:36Speaker 4: Well, here's you memorized the reason I started. It seemed
- 27:39Speaker 4: like I was really throwing on the mustard there is
- 27:41Speaker 4: because I forgot the words and I was stumbling, so
- 27:44Speaker 4: I just kind of stretched it out a.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Little old stagecraft there.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Well well done, Phil.
- 27:49Speaker 3: God no matter who has the most correct answers. Phil
- 27:51Speaker 3: is one Today's trivia Now.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Thanks again to Athletic Brewing for sponsoring the Moneyball question
- 27:57Speaker 1: of the week and for making that five hundred dollars
- 27:59Speaker 1: donation to the Audubon Society Question seven. The topic is hunting.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Which migratory bird flyway has the fewest hunters? Which migratory
- 28:13Speaker 1: bird flyway has the fewest hunters. I also asked Phil
- 28:17Speaker 1: if he ever prepared or if he ever performed the
- 28:20Speaker 1: Raven in his life. He said he never had, so
- 28:22Speaker 1: that was all with him having about twelve hours to prep.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Very good Phil, and for being realistic. It was about
- 28:31Speaker 4: four minutes before. Okay, so I was trying to get
- 28:34Speaker 4: that Bill Dance video to work and I couldn't do it.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, wow. Only on meat Eater Trivia you can
- 28:40Speaker 1: get bill Dance followed by the raven? Which migratory bird
- 28:47Speaker 1: flyway has the fewest hunters? Randall, you have this one right.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I have no clue if I haven't.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Right, Keith, you have this one right. You think it's
- 28:59Speaker 1: a it's a flyaway. We'll see what happens. All right?
- 29:03Speaker 1: This is question seven Chester. How'd you come up with
- 29:08Speaker 1: the raven despite not being confident on that last one?
- 29:11Speaker 5: Well, we in high school did some Edgar Allen Poe
- 29:18Speaker 5: reading and I remember the raven, so I went with that.
- 29:23Speaker 5: But I also was like thinking animal, so I almost
- 29:26Speaker 5: erased raven and put down like a possum.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Oh can I ask a question about your question? I
- 29:32Speaker 1: mean sure, I may not ANSWER's.
- 29:35Speaker 5: Refer to like all hunters or specific kind of hunters.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Well, think about how they would get this. You know,
- 29:41Speaker 1: the US Fish and Wildlife Service would take a water
- 29:44Speaker 1: following survey to ask about how many ducks you killed
- 29:48Speaker 1: and geese you killed and snipe you killed, so it
- 29:50Speaker 1: would be specific to water fowlers. Gotcha, which migratory bird
- 29:56Speaker 1: flyway has the fewest hunters? Is everybody ready? Go ahead
- 30:02Speaker 1: and reveal your answers. We have chester. You're saying Pacific,
- 30:06Speaker 1: Corey saying Central, Keith saying Pacific. Tailor without an answer,
- 30:11Speaker 1: Randall saying Pacific, Seth saying Central, Logan saying Pacific, Brody
- 30:16Speaker 1: saying Pacific. The correct answer is Pacific. Most of the
- 30:21Speaker 1: room got that one right. According to a twenty twenty
- 30:25Speaker 1: one survey, the Mississippi Flyway has four hundred thirty thousand hunters,
- 30:30Speaker 1: the Central has two hundred thirty thousand, the Atlantic has
- 30:34Speaker 1: two hundred twenty thousand, and the Pacific has one hundred
- 30:38Speaker 1: seventy thousand. Despite having fewer hunters, the Pacific Flyway actually
- 30:43Speaker 1: harvests more ducks and geese than the Atlantic Flyway. Question eight.
- 30:48Speaker 1: The topic is gear. This outdoor gear brand that's named
- 30:54Speaker 1: after a rodent made its first sleeping bag in nineteen
- 30:58Speaker 1: seventy three. This is questioning scoreboard update from Phil the Thespian.
- 31:05Speaker 1: After this, This outdoor gear brand that's named after a
- 31:09Speaker 1: rodent made its first sleeping bag in nineteen seventy three.
- 31:14Speaker 1: So I'm a first one of the spring. The other day,
- 31:17Speaker 1: Oh okay, there's a there's a hint on what this
- 31:20Speaker 1: rodent might be. Stephen Seth or excuse me, Brody and
- 31:24Speaker 1: Seth just saw one the other day.
- 31:26Speaker 5: That was a big hint.
- 31:28Speaker 1: This outdoor gear brand that's named after a rodent made
- 31:31Speaker 1: its first sleeping bag in nineteen seventy three. We've had
- 31:34Speaker 1: a story about the sleeping bag, not the rodent. We've
- 31:38Speaker 1: he old rat Sack got a zero percent of this game.
- 31:41Speaker 1: We may have a one hundred percenter. Here is everybody ready,
- 31:45Speaker 1: go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Chester and
- 31:49Speaker 1: Corey and Keith. The entire room said Marmott. They got it.
- 31:53Speaker 1: The correct answer is Marmott. Marmott began as a Mountaineering
- 31:58Speaker 1: Club for students at the Universe Verity of California, Santa Cruz.
- 32:02Speaker 1: The first rule of the club was that everyone got
- 32:05Speaker 1: to be president, and you could join the club after
- 32:08Speaker 1: climbing one peak with a member. They named the group
- 32:11Speaker 1: after the Marmot because they appreciated their social disposition and
- 32:15Speaker 1: mountain climbing skills. Fill we have two questions left. Who
- 32:18Speaker 1: remains in the game.
- 32:22Speaker 4: We've got Corey, Taylan, and Seth with three points. Logan, Brody,
- 32:28Speaker 4: and Chester have four and none of them are in
- 32:31Speaker 4: the running for the victory. Keith and Randall are tied

- 32:53Speaker 1: This four letter word is defined as a hardy seasoned
- 32:57Speaker 1: Italian sauce of meat and tomatoes. Keith has not come
- 33:02Speaker 1: up with an answer yet. Randall does have one, though
- 33:07Speaker 1: that damn Bill Dance threw me off for the four
- 33:10Speaker 1: letter word. As a reminder, there is a one thousand
- 33:14Speaker 1: dollars donation on the line today because of Athletic Brewing sponsorship.

- 33:35Speaker 1: Bro do you have this one right as well?
- 33:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:38Speaker 1: But I'm out. It's everybody ready. Cory, you got this one?
- 33:51Speaker 1: No four letter word?
- 33:54Speaker 2: I either have it or you hear it.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Go ahead and revealswer we got Chester without an answer,
- 34:01Speaker 1: Corey saying ragu, Keith saying ragu, Taylan saying ragu, Randall
- 34:07Speaker 1: saying ragu, Seth and Logan without an answer. Brody saying ragu.
- 34:11Speaker 1: They got it. The correct answer was ragu and Corey

- 34:17Speaker 1: it right. Instead of beers, ragu is typically made with
- 34:21Speaker 1: ground meat, onions, tomatoes, and red wine and served with pasta.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Danielle Pruitt says making ragu is one of her favorite
- 34:29Speaker 1: ways to cook a deer neck. To learn how to
- 34:31Speaker 1: make it, go to the meadeater dot com and read

- 35:41Speaker 4: It a la.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Randall, you have this one right, I think so. Keith,

- 38:00Speaker 3: You know, I took a jab at the bird folks
- 38:02Speaker 3: earlier with my raven crow comparison, and we're already given
- 38:07Speaker 3: some money to That.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Was a job I didn't tell. Okay, I don't know.
- 38:10Speaker 3: I'm dismissive of distinctions between animals that looked very similar,
