- 1:33Speaker 6: I'm gonna say it until it's true. Do have more
- 1:37Speaker 6: snow on the way? And I guess if you're gonna
- 1:38Speaker 6: get snow would be the kind that we had yesterday
- 1:43Speaker 6: last night where it was just pretty to look at,
- 1:45Speaker 6: but it wasn't on the road. We had very limited
- 1:48Speaker 6: impacts yesterday and early. I got to the office about
- 1:51Speaker 6: seven o'clock or so this morning, no issues at all,
- 1:53Speaker 6: but that quickly changed over the last hour and a
- 1:57Speaker 6: half or so. So we're gonna check in with meteorology
- 2:00Speaker 6: Brian Hughes here momentarily. Also Attorney General J. B. McCuskey
- 2:03Speaker 6: will be stopping by Charleston Mayor Amy Shooter or good
- 2:05Speaker 6: one is here the announcement yesterday Park Play Cinemas we'll

- 2:10Speaker 6: Stephen Allen Atis from Ogden Newspapers all coming up on
- 2:13Speaker 6: the show tomorrow. Let's go to the weather department right now.
- 2:17Speaker 6: We don't really have a weather department, but we have
- 2:18Speaker 6: a weather guy and it's Brian Hughes.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I'm a one meg Dog and Pony show, Yes, sir, And.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Just so you know, we have a consumer complaint lodged
- 2:25Speaker 4: against you from the Attorney General's office. Thank you very much,
- 2:28Speaker 4: was Virginia Consumers.
- 2:30Speaker 5: This sucks.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it sure does.
- 2:32Speaker 5: A good deal. Well, I appreciate it. Listen, I'm right
- 2:35Speaker 5: there with.
- 2:35Speaker 7: You, all right.
- 2:36Speaker 6: So snow started falling yesterday. Yeah, I guess seventy degrees
- 2:41Speaker 6: at midnight on Sunday slash Monday.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I was out on the back deck at midnight enjoying
- 2:46Speaker 2: it in shorts.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Yeah. And then and then it all went the heck
- 2:49Speaker 6: in a handbasket. After that, we had snow started falling
- 2:52Speaker 6: yesterday and again, as I said, very limited issues on
- 2:56Speaker 6: the roads for a time. I got to the office.
- 2:58Speaker 6: I was on sixty four to seven o'clock this morning,
- 3:00Speaker 6: perfectly fine. But then we started to seeing from Kana
- 3:03Speaker 6: from nine one one about all of these accidents, what
- 3:06Speaker 6: exactly is going on?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Well, more than anything, that accidents were happening around around
- 3:11Speaker 2: the bridges and overpasses, and then we also had some
- 3:15Speaker 2: of the when you get some of the son squalls,
- 3:18Speaker 2: you can have the road that will cool quickly and
- 3:21Speaker 2: quickly produce in light sheet device. But more than anything,
- 3:25Speaker 2: this storm over performed with on average about two inches
- 3:28Speaker 2: more than what was even forecasts. We had this at
- 3:30Speaker 2: the storm that passed through yesterday and yesterday morning with
- 3:34Speaker 2: all the severe thunderstrom mornings and the severe thunderstrum watch.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Then we had that band of rain that moved through
- 3:40Speaker 2: about ten o'clock in the morning. And what happened was
- 3:43Speaker 2: the cold. The thermal profile from top of the atmosphere
- 3:48Speaker 2: to bottom was just solidly frozen by yesterday afternoon. And
- 3:53Speaker 2: that was not None of the forecast models ever saw
- 3:55Speaker 2: that at all period.
- 3:57Speaker 5: End of the story.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So even the highly t did European forecast model. As
- 4:01Speaker 2: much as everybody wants to scream and jump up and down,
- 4:03Speaker 2: how that's the most accurate.
- 4:05Speaker 5: It misses as well, and it did yesterday.
- 4:07Speaker 2: So we had very cold air topped to bobo of
- 4:10Speaker 2: the atmosphere and then this moisture hanging around. Some of
- 4:13Speaker 2: it bring drawn up from the Mississippi Valley, but then
- 4:16Speaker 2: a lot of that coming off of Lake Michigan. And
- 4:18Speaker 2: when you get those two combined, it is Katie bar
- 4:21Speaker 2: the door for some heavy snow. And we still have
- 4:22Speaker 2: there's another snow squall, one that's about to that's moving
- 4:26Speaker 2: into Allen Creek within about the next ten minutes. There's
- 4:28Speaker 2: one that's across Tay's Valley Windfield, you just saw that.
- 4:31Speaker 5: It's at PoCA.
- 4:32Speaker 2: And we've got some that's up there in southern Jackson
- 4:35Speaker 2: County as you get north of Sisamville. We've got this
- 4:39Speaker 2: band of snow that's out around Hurricane and back out
- 4:43Speaker 2: to Scott Depot. Right now, that's going to be a
- 4:46Speaker 2: heck of That's a heck of a burst of snow,
- 4:48Speaker 2: all right.
- 4:48Speaker 7: And when is it all gonna end? That's what everybody
- 4:50Speaker 7: wants to go.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Well, I never exactly, it will never end. We have
- 4:56Speaker 2: between one and four o'clock this afternoon. If that sun
- 4:59Speaker 2: pops out. That's not good because that's gonna fire up.
- 5:02Speaker 5: I don't want this snow square.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Somebody just stopped you in the hall and said, are
- 5:04Speaker 6: we going to get sun today? But your saying we
- 5:05Speaker 6: don't want sun.
- 5:06Speaker 5: We do not want sun today at all.
- 5:08Speaker 2: The moment we get sun, that's when you get some
- 5:10Speaker 2: better snow squalls.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Because it's just like in the app.
- 5:12Speaker 2: It's just like in the middle of the spring, whenever
- 5:14Speaker 2: it gets nice and Toastyeah, all of a sudden, you're like, oh,
- 5:17Speaker 2: that sunshine is gonna make severe weather.
- 5:19Speaker 5: It's gonna make it much worse. Same thing with snow squalls.
- 5:22Speaker 2: You get that sun that pops, it just gives it
- 5:24Speaker 2: a little juice, and next c and o boom, we
- 5:26Speaker 2: get snowsqualls, and that could be a problem.
- 5:28Speaker 5: I actually do not see us.
- 5:30Speaker 2: The official forecast National weather surface is thirty two thirty
- 5:32Speaker 2: three degrees for a high. I don't see us getting
- 5:35Speaker 2: at above twenty eight today. My forecast models that I've
- 5:38Speaker 2: run with AI models, we run a number of models
- 5:42Speaker 2: together and then give the best possible scenario. And my
- 5:45Speaker 2: models are running day of ninety five to ninety seven
- 5:48Speaker 2: percent accuracy, and we're looking at twenty eight degrees for
- 5:51Speaker 2: a high today.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Mostly we're gonna see clouds all day long.
- 5:54Speaker 7: What's the afternoon commute look like? Everybody gets so forth
- 5:56Speaker 7: the name.
- 5:57Speaker 2: If we get sun, pops, we'll get some snow squalls
- 6:00Speaker 2: to be a problem. The moisture doesn't really start to
- 6:02Speaker 2: cut off till probably about between seven and midnight tonight,
- 6:04Speaker 2: So we're gonna have light snow flurries and dispatch of
- 6:08Speaker 2: snow showers within this next hour hour and a half
- 6:10Speaker 2: is going to be the bulk of the snow. But
- 6:12Speaker 2: then we'll have some light snowflakes off and onto the afternoon.
- 6:16Speaker 2: As long as the like I said, as long as
- 6:17Speaker 2: we do not get any sun, we should just see
- 6:19Speaker 2: some light snow fliorries for the rest of the afternoon
- 6:22Speaker 2: and temperatures in the upper twenty.
- 6:23Speaker 6: Or I think on social media they're always upset about
- 6:26Speaker 6: the school delays, closing you could, or lack of right
- 6:30Speaker 6: you know.
- 6:30Speaker 2: So it because because it was under forecast. And I'll
- 6:34Speaker 2: say this, I was looking at the National the Service
- 6:36Speaker 2: forecasts discussion. That's more the technical side of things, and
- 6:40Speaker 2: there were excuses everywhere, and I listen every you gotta
- 6:44Speaker 2: throw some excuses somewhere. I mean, it was what it was,
- 6:47Speaker 2: it is what it is now. But this was under forecast.
- 6:51Speaker 4: We do not need more days off of school. No,
- 6:53Speaker 4: we do know an right, so please continue to miss
- 6:56Speaker 4: the forecast.
- 6:57Speaker 3: So continue to go. That would make me enormously happy. Yeah,
- 7:01Speaker 3: you do.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Listen. I'll do my best, But right now I don't
- 7:04Speaker 5: have that much control.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Yeah, because it brought control tractually, I don't have much.
- 7:10Speaker 7: Control this weekend.
- 7:11Speaker 5: We're gonna be good this week This weekend is going
- 7:13Speaker 5: to be awesome.
- 7:13Speaker 2: It's mid sixties for Friday, and then we're going to
- 7:17Speaker 2: be in the upper sixties to seventy Saturday, Sunday.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Great weather for the weekend.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Just got to get past today and then tonight and
- 7:24Speaker 2: then we're in the mid forties of borrow.
- 7:26Speaker 5: Then we're in the fifties going into the year.
- 7:27Speaker 7: And then that's it's done.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Well. Yeah, in theory, remember JB.
- 7:32Speaker 7: Can you do something about that? As Attorney gy, I'm
- 7:34Speaker 7: already working on it.
- 7:35Speaker 4: We have investigative subpoenas that will be delivered today. And
- 7:39Speaker 4: you know, at the end of the day, we protect
- 7:41Speaker 4: West Virginia consumers and we want to consume some sunshine. Well,
- 7:44Speaker 4: and he just told me sunshine causes snow, which has.
- 7:47Speaker 3: To be false advertising.
- 7:49Speaker 7: There you go.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Well you know what I thought. I liked you.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Yeah, just keep missing the forecast so my kids keep
- 7:54Speaker 4: going to school.
- 7:56Speaker 7: We're trying appreciate it. Man, thanks a lot.
- 7:57Speaker 5: You're very welcome.
- 7:58Speaker 6: Attorney General JB. MCCUs, he's here, welcome to show happy
- 8:01Speaker 6: Saint Patrick's Day, sir.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Happy Saint Patrick's Day to you too. As you can tell,
- 8:04Speaker 4: I'm not wearing gray. Okay, yeah, you you're rocket to blue.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Ryan's got light blonde and I'm dressed in black. So
- 8:10Speaker 4: here we go, Happy happy Saint Patte Irish person. I
- 8:13Speaker 4: don't particularly care for the way that American celebrates Saint
- 8:16Speaker 4: Patrick's dawn.
- 8:17Speaker 7: You know, I've heard that from various others.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Why is the I mean, I think when you're sort
- 8:23Speaker 4: of moving to the lowest common denominator and out of
- 8:25Speaker 4: the faith aspect of it, Americans celebrated by getting drunk
- 8:29Speaker 4: and fighting each other and pretending they're Irish, which is
- 8:31Speaker 4: not a very nice portrayal of Irish people.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I just like to kiss everybody. I don't fight them,
- 8:36Speaker 5: just get drunk.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I hate notre dame. Well, so, you know, there's a
- 8:40Speaker 3: myriad of reasons.
- 8:42Speaker 6: It's kind of like sinking to Mayo. How it's not
- 8:44Speaker 6: even a thing in Mexico, right, correct, Yeah, it's actually exactly.
- 8:47Speaker 7: Like they don't even know what you're talking about.
- 8:50Speaker 4: We're going to go get Americanized Mexican food and drink
- 8:52Speaker 4: too many margaritas.
- 8:53Speaker 7: And how's that different than any other?
- 8:55Speaker 8: Ye?
- 8:55Speaker 3: That's right?
- 8:56Speaker 7: All right, serious, biz.
- 8:57Speaker 6: There was a ruling last week, actually a little over
- 8:59Speaker 6: we could so, I guess from the Fourth Court of
- 9:01Speaker 6: Appeals reversing a lower court ruled and as pertains to
- 9:04Speaker 6: gender affirming surgeries.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Talk about that.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Yeah, so the Fourth Circuit has ruled, based on a
- 9:11Speaker 4: Supreme Court case called Scremmetti, that West Virginia's law that
- 9:16Speaker 4: pertains to prisoners, you know, custodians of the state from
- 9:20Speaker 4: getting taxpayer funded gender reassignment surgery.
- 9:24Speaker 9: Uh.
- 9:24Speaker 4: And this is really common sense, right that the the
- 9:27Speaker 4: idea that the people of West Virginia should be paying
- 9:31Speaker 4: for a murderer to reassign their gender and then be
- 9:35Speaker 4: placed in a women's prison as a biological male is
- 9:39Speaker 4: asinine and and kind of insane. And the superior and
- 9:43Speaker 4: the Fourth Circuit has correctly ruled in our favor that
- 9:46Speaker 4: West Virginia's law is constitutional and that the taxpayers West
- 9:49Speaker 4: Virginia shouldn't be paying for these surgeries.
- 9:51Speaker 6: I mean, I guess the big question would be why
- 9:53Speaker 6: why would someone think that's my opinion, why would someone
- 9:55Speaker 6: think the taxpayers should pay for those anyway.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Well, the only people that think that the taxpayer should
- 10:00Speaker 4: be paying for those things are the prisoners, which is
- 10:02Speaker 4: why this is such a common sense ruling. And you know, uh,
- 10:06Speaker 4: just to get back to it, you know, we argue
- 10:08Speaker 4: the women's sports case a couple of months ago to
- 10:10Speaker 4: the Supreme Court were waiting on the on the ruling
- 10:12Speaker 4: on that. But the part of that case that was
- 10:14Speaker 4: really the most insidious was that the the aco u's
- 10:19Speaker 4: argument was that if you reassign gender young enough that
- 10:24Speaker 4: people never that that little boys never become men, right,
- 10:27Speaker 4: and so you can change essentially what their birth their
- 10:31Speaker 4: birth sex is. And so this is really part of
- 10:34Speaker 4: this really disturbing trend in this area of medicine, where
- 10:39Speaker 4: it is seen as something that that doesn't have any
- 10:43Speaker 4: true medical backing, and the attempt is to force the
- 10:47Speaker 4: taxpayers to pay for these kind of surgeries. But the
- 10:52Speaker 4: problem is is that we know that children, they don't
- 10:55Speaker 4: understand these concepts, and so there's really only one kind
- 10:58Speaker 4: of child who gets a gender reassignment surgery, and that
- 11:02Speaker 4: is a child with a parent who thinks that their
- 11:04Speaker 4: child needs it. And you know, we need to be
- 11:07Speaker 4: keeping our hands off of keep these doctors hands off
- 11:09Speaker 4: of our kids, and we need to be making sure
- 11:11Speaker 4: that taxpayers aren't funding these these kind of surgeries.
- 11:14Speaker 7: Talking again with Attorney General JB. Mccusky.
- 11:16Speaker 6: Now, someone somewhere JB had the bright ideat to ban
- 11:20Speaker 6: gas appliances.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Yep, they sure did not just gas appliances, gas furnaces,
- 11:26Speaker 4: and gas stoves. Okay, why because you know, as we
- 11:30Speaker 4: can tell outside today, that global warming is an existential
- 11:34Speaker 4: threat to all of humanity and that the number one
- 11:38Speaker 4: cause of those things just happens to be the number
- 11:40Speaker 4: one products of the states that these people don't like.
- 11:43Speaker 7: All right, But but your office got involved in this somehow.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Yeah, So we filed a lead amaricust brief on behalf
- 11:48Speaker 4: of twenty seven states asking the Supreme Court to overturn
- 11:52Speaker 4: a truly ridiculous, a truly ridiculous rule set forth by
- 11:58Speaker 4: the EPA that would in the next few years ban
- 12:01Speaker 4: Americans essentially from owning gas furnaces and gas stoves, which
- 12:05Speaker 4: would require every single person in West Virginia who's you know,
- 12:09Speaker 4: live in paycheck to paycheck to buy a twenty five
- 12:12Speaker 4: thousand dollars or thirty thousand dollars electric furnace over the
- 12:15Speaker 4: next few years to replace their efficient, low cost gas
- 12:19Speaker 4: furnace that works better and in totality is more environmentally
- 12:23Speaker 4: friendly than the electric versions of those things. We know
- 12:27Speaker 4: they're less efficient and actually have a if you're somebody
- 12:31Speaker 4: who is into these kind of things, they have a
- 12:33Speaker 4: significantly higher carbon footprint than even the gas ones because
- 12:36Speaker 4: gas is a naturally occurring element that has been used
- 12:39Speaker 4: to heat homes and heat coal actually for that matter,
- 12:45Speaker 4: for two hundred years. And so we are we're really
- 12:48Speaker 4: proud to be standing up for West Virginia consumers. Is
- 12:50Speaker 4: as we know, there's been a war on consumers for
- 12:54Speaker 4: the last eight or so years. Prices have been skyrocketing,
- 12:58Speaker 4: and this is a big way for us to fight
- 13:00Speaker 4: back and make sure that our consumers have access to
- 13:02Speaker 4: things they can afford.
- 13:04Speaker 6: It's it's tax season, it is taxing and people who
- 13:07Speaker 6: get tax refunds always look forward to them coming in.
- 13:10Speaker 6: It is important to know, though, and your office has
- 13:12Speaker 6: been all over this, that you're not going to get
- 13:15Speaker 6: anything by text or by email or by social media.
- 13:19Speaker 6: I mean you might from your tax prepare er, correct,
- 13:21Speaker 6: but you're not going to get it from the irs.
- 13:23Speaker 4: Yeah, if it feels weird, it is weird that the
- 13:26Speaker 4: official communications that you're going to be getting about your
- 13:28Speaker 4: taxes and your tax refunds, et cetera. And to everybody
- 13:31Speaker 4: out there, remember a tax refund is really the government
- 13:33Speaker 4: keeping your money for a lot longer than they should,
- 13:35Speaker 4: not paying you any interest on it. So you should
- 13:37Speaker 4: be trying to get a zero tax refund and keeping
- 13:39Speaker 4: your money as you go along. But but yeah, if
- 13:42Speaker 4: the government is going to be communicating about your taxes,
- 13:45Speaker 4: it is going to be an official kind of communication.
- 13:48Speaker 6: And it's not going to come because we've seen this
- 13:51Speaker 6: already with these you've seen the emails of God.
- 13:53Speaker 4: It happens every year, and it's happening right now, and
- 13:55Speaker 4: it's really insidious and it's it's awful, and we do
- 13:58Speaker 4: everything we can to stop these things. But really that
- 14:00Speaker 4: the best defense is being educated and protecting yourself.
- 14:04Speaker 7: What else is on your mind?
- 14:05Speaker 4: Yeah, So, as you can tell, I'm in my full
- 14:07Speaker 4: WVU garb today. Just found out we got tickets to
- 14:10Speaker 4: the women's tournament this weekend. I'm really excited to take
- 14:13Speaker 4: my daughter's and her two little friends up to Morgantown
- 14:17Speaker 4: with the coaches of her girls basketball. It's the coolest
- 14:22Speaker 4: thing in the world. Our women's basketball team is ranked
- 14:24Speaker 4: eleventh right now. It's the it's the highest ranking that
- 14:27Speaker 4: our women's basketball team has ever achieved in the AP Poll.
- 14:31Speaker 4: We have coach Kellogg who is just a true master
- 14:34Speaker 4: at this and our.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Program is on the rise.
- 14:36Speaker 4: We will be one of the better women's basketball programs
- 14:40Speaker 4: for the foreseeable future. And I'm really excited that we've
- 14:42Speaker 4: packed the coliseum, the tickets are sold out, and we're
- 14:46Speaker 4: I'm really really excited to show my girls what a
- 14:49Speaker 4: first rate NCAA tournament game looks like in Morgantown.
- 14:52Speaker 7: Attorney General Jim mccusky, appreciate you being here, man, Dave.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Thank you, And per usual, the weather is more important
- 14:59Speaker 4: than anything else, and so I am actually glad that
- 15:01Speaker 4: you led with that. And I did learn something today.
- 15:04Speaker 7: Did you know that.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Sun causes snow squalls.
- 15:08Speaker 7: I did, but you did know that.
- 15:09Speaker 3: But you've been in radio since forever.
- 15:11Speaker 7: Yeah, me and Marconi started it. I have been. I'm
- 15:15Speaker 7: I'm a weather geek.
- 15:16Speaker 6: Though I did kind of know that, But but I
- 15:19Speaker 6: don't know hardly anything else now.
- 15:21Speaker 4: And do you know some stuff you know about baseball
- 15:23Speaker 4: teams that are mediocre and happen since forever? As rocking
- 15:26Speaker 4: my reds geared today Pirates this year watch out. I

- 18:34Speaker 7: Welcome to the show, Mayor.
- 18:36Speaker 12: Hey, good morning.
- 18:37Speaker 7: I'm loving the voice.
- 18:38Speaker 13: I know.
- 18:38Speaker 7: Can you do it?
- 18:39Speaker 14: Like?
- 18:39Speaker 7: Can you do like.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Total eclipse of the hard course? I was thinking you to,
- 18:45Speaker 6: but you're not sick. You tell me you just something
- 18:47Speaker 6: to happen.
- 18:48Speaker 12: This happens. Everybody in the office knows. This happens every
- 18:52Speaker 12: March April and Brock and Hughes was just on. You
- 18:55Speaker 12: talked about it. Anytime we go from like sixty five
- 18:58Speaker 12: degrees to thirty two degrees. So normally this happens in
- 19:02Speaker 12: March and April or September. In October, I lose my voice.
- 19:06Speaker 12: Plus we've had obviously a lot going on, and so,
- 19:12Speaker 12: you know, chairing meetings and just out and about. It's
- 19:15Speaker 12: just has been a it's been a whirlwind. But yeah,
- 19:18Speaker 12: yesterday it was so exciting to be able to stand
- 19:22Speaker 12: with Rob Faulkner, the new operator of the Charleston Theater Company.
- 19:28Speaker 12: We're so excited to have him and his team, who
- 19:32Speaker 12: has a tremendous amount of experience. These are former employees
- 19:37Speaker 12: of park Place Cinemas. They were there yesterday to help
- 19:41Speaker 12: us make this announcement. And so there's a little confusion
- 19:45Speaker 12: out there. Somebody sent me this, Uh, you know, you
- 19:48Speaker 12: can't by the way, Dave, you can't believe everything you
- 19:51Speaker 12: see on social media?
- 19:52Speaker 7: What FYI?
- 19:53Speaker 12: What you can't? Anyway, somebody said the city is going
- 19:57Speaker 12: to run the theater. No, no, no, we own the building.
- 20:01Speaker 12: We owned the building and we own the parking garage
- 20:04Speaker 12: and so this is a lease. And so the company
- 20:08Speaker 12: has leased this for it's in council. We brought it
- 20:13Speaker 12: to council last night after working with the new operators
- 20:17Speaker 12: to get a lease, and so it is one year
- 20:20Speaker 12: with the option to renew another two years and one
- 20:24Speaker 12: year increments. And so not only are they going to
- 20:28Speaker 12: pay all of the utilities, which by the way, we're
- 20:30Speaker 12: paying now since May of twenty twenty four, when the
- 20:35Speaker 12: Park Place Cinemas closed its doors, we started doing that
- 20:38Speaker 12: and we weren't getting any revenue. So this is now
- 20:40Speaker 12: fifty cents a ticket playing all the utilities. So to
- 20:44Speaker 12: say that this was just an incredible, incredible opportunity for
- 20:49Speaker 12: us with folks who know what they're doing. And oh,
- 20:52Speaker 12: by the way, and it was a reminder yesterday when
- 20:56Speaker 12: we were pooling yesterday morning, all of the movies that
- 21:00Speaker 12: are coming out in April, in May and June and July,
- 21:05Speaker 12: that's it's the season for all of these movies. So
- 21:08Speaker 12: these are the first thing. I mean, goodness, gracious, I
- 21:11Speaker 12: mean you're talking about the new Mario movie, which my
- 21:15Speaker 12: boys loved, Mario and Luigi and when is that for Halloween?
- 21:18Speaker 12: I can't tell you how many times anyway, and Spider
- 21:21Speaker 12: Man and the Devil Ware's product too, and there's just
- 21:24Speaker 12: an amazing amount of really good movies but you know,
- 21:29Speaker 12: everybody who we spoke yesterday and everybody who called in
- 21:32Speaker 12: the office and texted an emailed, said not necessarily about
- 21:36Speaker 12: the movies. It was the experience. Oh my gosh. I
- 21:38Speaker 12: love the days of going downtown, having dinner and seeing
- 21:41Speaker 12: a show, or going to see a show and then
- 21:43Speaker 12: having you know, drinks afterwards. That is what we're looking
- 21:46Speaker 12: forward to having yet again in that facility. You know,
- 21:51Speaker 12: the arcade is coming back, which is so great. I
- 21:54Speaker 12: talked to Rob yesterday, the operator, who said it was
- 21:58Speaker 12: part of what people would come to do. I mean,
- 22:01Speaker 12: you know, see a show, do the arcades. They're going
- 22:03Speaker 12: to make it available to everybody. If you're coming to
- 22:06Speaker 12: see a show or not, you can get some popcorn,
- 22:08Speaker 12: get a snack, get a soda pop and go to
- 22:10Speaker 12: the arcade. Something fun for folks to do. You know,
- 22:14Speaker 12: we talk about all the time what makes a vibrant
- 22:18Speaker 12: city or what makes a vibrant area. It's lots of
- 22:21Speaker 12: things to see and do. That's what it is. It's
- 22:23Speaker 12: the arcade, it's a movie, it's supper it's cocktails, it's
- 22:27Speaker 12: doing a little shopping. It's park and play if you will.
- 22:30Speaker 12: So yesterday was just a wonderful announcement with a wonderful
- 22:34Speaker 12: family last night, Rob and his wife Lauren, and their
- 22:38Speaker 12: youngest who was there during the announcement with her dad.
- 22:42Speaker 12: She was so cute. She had little stars like movie
- 22:44Speaker 12: stars in her hair. She had tied up on top
- 22:47Speaker 12: of her head. Yesterday they met at the movie theater.
- 22:49Speaker 12: They met, really his wife met at that movie theater,
- 22:55Speaker 12: which was just absolutely incredible. So you know, as he said,
- 22:59Speaker 12: this theater takes me back, and I have a love
- 23:02Speaker 12: that runs deep in this movie theater. This is my heart.
- 23:07Speaker 12: This is what my family, so we know how to do.
- 23:10Speaker 12: And to say that we have such a passion and
- 23:13Speaker 12: a love for this is the understatement. It's where he
- 23:15Speaker 12: married his wife. I mean, it's just it's an incredible opportunity.
- 23:18Speaker 7: So it's going to be first run movies first.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Because here's the reason that I guess when I first
- 23:24Speaker 6: heard that this was a thing, I thought, because what
- 23:26Speaker 6: the what a lot of these theaters have done like
- 23:28Speaker 6: this is they do like specials. They'll do like you know,
- 23:31Speaker 6: classic movies, the fiftieth anniversary of this or so, and
- 23:34Speaker 6: they might they might still do that. We're talking about
- 23:37Speaker 6: first run movies though.
- 23:38Speaker 12: Yes, sir, So there are eleven theaters, and so nine
- 23:41Speaker 12: of them will be first run movies. But you know
- 23:43Speaker 12: the two, if you know anything about park plus, you
- 23:45Speaker 12: have got two kind of off to the side. That
- 23:47Speaker 12: is not to say that they won't do the fiftieth
- 23:50Speaker 12: anniversary or the this in those theaters, which I think
- 23:54Speaker 12: is an amazing idea. By the way, as well, I
- 23:57Speaker 12: will I will give credit where credit is due. The
- 23:59Speaker 12: West Virgin International Film Festival also had a showing in
- 24:03Speaker 12: the theater. It was really really well attended, and that's
- 24:08Speaker 12: an opportunity for us too and the operators to collaborate
- 24:12Speaker 12: with them as well to do specialty films, international films,
- 24:17Speaker 12: anniversary films in those two theaters. But the nine main
- 24:22Speaker 12: theaters that when you go in to the left and
- 24:24Speaker 12: kind of circling around, will be first run. And you
- 24:27Speaker 12: know it's, by the way, it's an aggressive timeline. And
- 24:31Speaker 12: let me tell you the real reason why I am
- 24:36Speaker 12: excited and optimistic about their April one launch is our
- 24:42Speaker 12: city team and again credit director Terry Allen and our
- 24:48Speaker 12: entire parking department has literally been working there several days
- 24:55Speaker 12: a week. Ivan, I'll give Ivan and Danny shout out
- 24:58Speaker 12: our maintenance team. They are in in that theater. And
- 25:01Speaker 12: if you walked in that theater yesterday when we all said,
- 25:03Speaker 12: oh my gosh, last week, you know this is coming
- 25:05Speaker 12: up and the owners or the new operators want to,
- 25:08Speaker 12: you know, do a little press with us in this theater.
- 25:11Speaker 12: In my head, I thought, oh, wonder what we need
- 25:13Speaker 12: to do to get ready.
- 25:15Speaker 5: It was ready to go.
- 25:16Speaker 12: It was ready because these guys took care as we
- 25:21Speaker 12: do with such care, and our maintenance team does an
- 25:24Speaker 12: incredible job. It was it was ready. It was ready,
- 25:28Speaker 12: and so you know, there is a reason why it
- 25:31Speaker 12: was an easy approach with these folks is because our
- 25:35Speaker 12: city team. Not only do they keep the lights on,
- 25:38Speaker 12: but they keep things clean and a lot of maintenance
- 25:41Speaker 12: goes into the buildings that we have. And so it's
- 25:45Speaker 12: because of our city team, which is why if anybody
- 25:47Speaker 12: saw the photos that we had, and you had a
- 25:50Speaker 12: couple here as well that were posted, that was sure.
- 25:54Speaker 12: Rob Faulkner, the owner, and his wife and his daughter,
- 25:56Speaker 12: and some of the other folks who have really had
- 25:59Speaker 12: a passion like my for who used to work Park
- 26:02Speaker 12: Place Cinemas, who literally knows every seat in every theater.
- 26:06Speaker 12: He can tell you the county can tell you how tall,
- 26:10Speaker 12: he can tell you how tall the ceilings are. But
- 26:13Speaker 12: the rest of them are city employees, and I asked
- 26:15Speaker 12: Director Allen to bring them and to stand with us
- 26:18Speaker 12: because they needed recognition for all of the hard work,
- 26:22Speaker 12: because you know, I say all the time, Dave, I'm
- 26:24Speaker 12: one of seven hundred plus employees and I get to,
- 26:29Speaker 12: you know, be upfront, and I'm super proud. But they
- 26:32Speaker 12: do a lot of the heavy lifting. And so we
- 26:35Speaker 12: were incredibly proud to stand there with them yesterday and
- 26:38Speaker 12: also say thank you to them as well. We did
- 26:40Speaker 12: have popcorn yesterday, not the the popcorn, and that was
- 26:44Speaker 12: the other thing people said, is the popcorn coming back?
- 26:46Speaker 6: Oh yes, all right, Oh yes, Well, I'm I happy
- 26:50Speaker 6: to be married to someone who is a popcorn fiend.
- 26:53Speaker 7: Just so you know.
- 26:54Speaker 6: She mentioned to me yesterday, and I think I've gotten
- 26:56Speaker 6: She'll tell me if I'm wrong, but she frequently does,
- 27:00Speaker 6: because I frequently am. But I think that back in
- 27:04Speaker 6: the day, I think that she saw Rocky Horror Picture show.
- 27:07Speaker 6: Oh there, that's kind of her thing.
- 27:09Speaker 12: As a teenagers rock We used to take the boys
- 27:12Speaker 12: there for our boys who just loved, loved, loved movies
- 27:17Speaker 12: still do Sammy, My, Sammy, I and Bodie. Did you
- 27:22Speaker 12: know I embodi a local artist. Charleston artists absolutely wonderful
- 27:24Speaker 12: does family like you know, paintings and all of the things.
- 27:28Speaker 12: And in one of ours it's Sam in front of
- 27:31Speaker 12: a movie reel because it's that's his jam. We used
- 27:36Speaker 12: to have birthday parties there for him all the time.
- 27:38Speaker 12: Those things are back and it is absolutely refreshing to
- 27:42Speaker 12: know that that piece of history, that location that held
- 27:47Speaker 12: so many wonderful memories for so many of our folks.
- 27:51Speaker 7: What's a time on as far as I mean, how
- 27:53Speaker 7: long was it aggressive?
- 27:54Speaker 3: Well, how long was it open?
- 27:55Speaker 7: I mean, I mean how how many When was it?
- 27:56Speaker 7: When when was it started? Do you have any idea?
- 27:58Speaker 12: Oh my gosh, nineteen eighty.
- 28:00Speaker 7: Nineteen eighty okay, yeah, long, long, long line.
- 28:02Speaker 12: Twenty four Yeah, May seventh, seventh, okay, that first weekend.
- 28:06Speaker 6: But as far as the timeline goes, now, April first,
- 28:08Speaker 6: is that what you're said, that's.
- 28:09Speaker 12: What that is what they are shooting for, and they're
- 28:11Speaker 12: shooting for, you know, the pop of these really awesome
- 28:15Speaker 12: spring and summer.
- 28:16Speaker 7: It'll stop snow in by then Brian Hughes.
- 28:18Speaker 12: My goodness, it's all him in the green room and
- 28:22Speaker 12: he said, ah, it's because he knows my voice. He said, ah,
- 28:25Speaker 12: it's that time of year again. And apparently it was
- 28:28Speaker 12: a record like going from this degree to this.
- 28:30Speaker 6: Seventy degrees at midnight and like in the twenties by
- 28:33Speaker 6: the end of the day. But welcome to spring in Appalachia.
- 28:38Speaker 6: A couple of things. I know you're busy. A couple
- 28:40Speaker 6: of things I wanted to get to.
- 28:42Speaker 5: One.
- 28:42Speaker 6: We had a text and somebody asking for anubdate out
- 28:44Speaker 6: of the Municipal Auditorium.
- 28:45Speaker 12: But we have anything, Thank you so much. Yes, the
- 28:47Speaker 12: Municipal Auditorium. The committee which is hosted by the Coliseum
- 28:51Speaker 12: and Convention Center. They're three members of the board, three
- 28:54Speaker 12: members of Charleston City Council. They met and let me
- 28:57Speaker 12: not lie to you three weeks ago or so to
- 29:00Speaker 12: review the architects and engineers report. And so what they
- 29:05Speaker 12: are doing now is they are bringing in folks who
- 29:08Speaker 12: are experts in the field who have built or refurbished
- 29:13Speaker 12: different municipal auditoriums or lake theaters across the country to
- 29:18Speaker 12: give them a better understanding. So with the committee asked
- 29:21Speaker 12: of not only the Colisseum and Convention Center team, but
- 29:26Speaker 12: us is to say, okay, now we have to make
- 29:28Speaker 12: a decision on where do we go from here. And
- 29:31Speaker 12: so that was their ask and so that will be
- 29:33Speaker 12: the next step in this process, all right.
- 29:36Speaker 6: And of course the population of Charleston is about the
- 29:38Speaker 6: double right now because of the boys stayed basketball trying now.
- 29:41Speaker 7: So it was a great week last.
- 29:42Speaker 6: Week with the girls coming in and the boys coming
- 29:44Speaker 6: in this week to actually action is underway as we
- 29:48Speaker 6: speak over the Colicgman conventions.
- 29:49Speaker 7: And first of all, the seats are great, and the
- 29:51Speaker 7: news great.
- 29:52Speaker 12: Seats are absolutely great. They're beautiful, they're uniform, and so
- 29:57Speaker 12: you know, attention to detail putting them in, cleaning them,
- 30:01Speaker 12: maintaining them. But my you know, text and emails and
- 30:05Speaker 12: calls of thanks for parents who by the way, I
- 30:08Speaker 12: have been one of them in years past, who are
- 30:11Speaker 12: sitting in those seats for a very long period of
- 30:13Speaker 12: time into our cheer families. And so we're very excited
- 30:17Speaker 12: to once again host. We made that investment because that's
- 30:21Speaker 12: our building. If here we go back to the building conversation.
- 30:24Speaker 12: Infrastructure is important and you may not think about that
- 30:27Speaker 12: as infrastructure. You know, I know Tim Brady is on
- 30:31Speaker 12: the show quite a bit and he would tell you
- 30:33Speaker 12: it is millions of dollars of economic impact that has
- 30:37Speaker 12: returned not too directly to the city of Charleston a smidge,
- 30:41Speaker 12: but it is into the pockets of our retail shops,
- 30:47Speaker 12: our restaurants, hotels, with hosting so many wonderful families from
- 30:53Speaker 12: all across the mountain state. G dub plays on Thursday,
- 30:57Speaker 12: So we're super excited to watch the Patriots.
- 31:00Speaker 6: But there's some exciting I mean, but we've got Riverside
- 31:04Speaker 6: there'll be in the tournament for the first time since
- 31:06Speaker 6: two thousand and two. The Wayne Pioneers are there for
- 31:08Speaker 6: the first time ever. And then if you look at
- 31:11Speaker 6: tomorrow night, uh, you've got Chapmanville Regional playing in the
- 31:15Speaker 6: five o'clock, followed by that team from Logan. After that, Uh,
- 31:19Speaker 6: they're playing Wyomings. And then you've got Winfield and Ripley if.
- 31:23Speaker 12: They're Ripley High, the Vikings, the Blue and White, the whole.
- 31:26Speaker 6: Dang town, led by Mayor Raider, will be will be
- 31:31Speaker 6: here by.
- 31:32Speaker 12: The way, they will be by the way they will.
- 31:34Speaker 7: Be that those teams alone right there.
- 31:37Speaker 6: I mean when you talk about Chapmanville and you talk
- 31:39Speaker 6: about Logan, and you talk about Ripley, of course Winfield
- 31:42Speaker 6: just one county over.
- 31:44Speaker 7: I mean, they're they're.
- 31:45Speaker 6: Gonna be there, gonna be some all the games are
- 31:47Speaker 6: exciting and the crowds all come out for him. But
- 31:49Speaker 6: tomorrow night is especially gonna be off the hook. I
- 31:52Speaker 6: mean really because of the teams.
- 31:54Speaker 12: It's gonna be really right, real quick.
- 31:55Speaker 7: Before we let you go. You had council last night
- 31:57Speaker 7: and budget through the budget last night.
- 31:59Speaker 5: Yeah, we did.

- 32:02Speaker 12: Yeah, really exciting last night. We invested in our employees,
- 32:06Speaker 12: we invested in our infrastructure, we invested in our services.
- 32:11Speaker 12: And as a matter of fact, I just got an
- 32:14Speaker 12: email this morning from our Chief of Police who reached
- 32:18Speaker 12: out not only to me, but to our council members
- 32:20Speaker 12: to say thank you on behalf of the officers and
- 32:24Speaker 12: the police department for the continued support. I heard from
- 32:27Speaker 12: members of the fire department, our street department, our refuse
- 32:30Speaker 12: department of saying thanks for thanks for looking at everyone
- 32:35Speaker 12: in this city and making sure that you know this
- 32:38Speaker 12: is we do service. Who's that's what we are in
- 32:41Speaker 12: municipal government, and so we have to take care of
- 32:44Speaker 12: those three pockets of folks. We need to take care
- 32:47Speaker 12: of our people, our infrastructure, and our services. And I
- 32:50Speaker 12: think that that budget that we passed with flying colors
- 32:54Speaker 12: last night reflects those commitments to our people, our places,
- 32:59Speaker 12: and our great services.

- 36:59Speaker 6: Steven Allen at who was around during the nineteen eighties,
- 37:01Speaker 6: but more of it. You're more of a nineties guy,
- 37:03Speaker 6: right two thousands?
- 37:05Speaker 5: Oh no.
- 37:05Speaker 9: If I consider myself a very young gen xer, I
- 37:10Speaker 9: think the term that I've heard bandied about is xenial. Okay,
- 37:14Speaker 9: I mean age wise, I follow in the millennial category.
- 37:16Speaker 9: But sorry, I'm a Reagan kid and I like I
- 37:21Speaker 9: like gen gen x things.
- 37:22Speaker 6: Okay, all right, so I guess I would be a
- 37:25Speaker 6: if I can somehow put these words together, A maybe
- 37:29Speaker 6: a joomer.
- 37:30Speaker 7: I'm gen x but I think like a boomer in
- 37:32Speaker 7: a lot of ways.
- 37:33Speaker 9: There you go, Yeah, that's yeah, that's a good way
- 37:35Speaker 9: to boomer. A goomer, goober.
- 37:38Speaker 5: Goomer.
- 37:40Speaker 6: Steven Allen Adams working to the newspapers is here, Welcome
- 37:42Speaker 6: to the show. Another sessions in the books. I didn't
- 37:47Speaker 6: have to ask for editorial comment. You just you see
- 37:50Speaker 6: the front of the gazette mail this morning. There's a
- 37:52Speaker 6: picture of I'm holding this up to the microphone like
- 37:55Speaker 6: people can see it.
- 37:56Speaker 4: Uh.
- 37:56Speaker 6: There's a picture of Delegate David Pritt out of Fayette County,
- 37:59Speaker 6: face down on his desk, big color picture in in
- 38:02Speaker 6: front of the paper this morning.
- 38:03Speaker 7: So I guess that summed it up for a lot
- 38:05Speaker 7: of people. Your takeaway as.
- 38:07Speaker 9: A journalist, well, yeah, he had every right to put
- 38:11Speaker 9: his head on his desk in in those last forty
- 38:13Speaker 9: five minutes of the session. It's kind of what I
- 38:16Speaker 9: thought it would be over to sixty days. Honestly. You know,
- 38:21Speaker 9: you always have different things to pop up during session,
- 38:23Speaker 9: but it really wasn't as a whole overly controversial, and
- 38:30Speaker 9: also as a whole, a lot of things that they
- 38:33Speaker 9: did were kind of minor, not bad things. I mean,
- 38:37Speaker 9: you got the House of Delegates, the Republican Caucus that
- 38:40Speaker 9: focused on economic development through their Jobs First platform, and
- 38:43Speaker 9: they got a lot of that across the finish line,
- 38:46Speaker 9: and a lot of that I've heard described. I think
- 38:48Speaker 9: TJ has even described it this way as like one hitters,
- 38:51Speaker 9: but taken together, there are things that will help move
- 38:55Speaker 9: the ball and could actually help kind of incentivize business.
- 38:59Speaker 9: So you've got that, but they are kind of small
- 39:02Speaker 9: things in and of themselves. You got tax cut across
- 39:05Speaker 9: the board five percent e we I mean, I don't
- 39:09Speaker 9: know that people are that excited because now that we've
- 39:11Speaker 9: had a few tax cuts, I don't know if anyone
- 39:13Speaker 9: can really tell you how they've benefited from any of them.
- 39:17Speaker 9: But that's across the board. Three percent pay raise for
- 39:21Speaker 9: state employees, eh. I mean, they don't really know exactly
- 39:26Speaker 9: how that's gonna help or hurt them. It's better or nothing,
- 39:28Speaker 9: but doesn't really help overall. I mean I would say
- 39:33Speaker 9: that they played it kind of safe this session going
- 39:36Speaker 9: into an electioneer as you would expect.
- 39:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean every House seat is up in several
- 39:40Speaker 6: of the Senate seats are up as well, so it's
- 39:42Speaker 6: I mean there is something to be said about Okay,
- 39:45Speaker 6: so I got a at Well, let me take care
- 39:46Speaker 6: of this first to Dave Allen Show on five eighty Live.
- 39:48Speaker 6: Brought to you in part by Pinnacle Consultants. When environmental
- 39:51Speaker 6: questions come up at a building, Pinnacle provides clear answer,

- 40:00Speaker 6: more Pinnacle Corp dot net helping you understand your environment
- 40:03Speaker 6: because what you don't know can't hurt you, all right,
- 40:05Speaker 6: So what'd you make of that last forty five minutes
- 40:07Speaker 6: to an hour?
- 40:08Speaker 5: Huh?
- 40:09Speaker 9: Well, I mean, I've never quite seen anything like that,
- 40:12Speaker 9: with the parliamentary procedure demotions, trying to limit debate, trying
- 40:16Speaker 9: to keep debate to like five minutes, I've never seen
- 40:18Speaker 9: anything quite like how all that shook out, especially the
- 40:23Speaker 9: passion from the speeches you got Adam burghammer Republican at
- 40:26Speaker 9: Lewis County, who.
- 40:27Speaker 6: Will, by the way editor's note beyond Metro News Midday today,
- 40:30Speaker 6: we go ahead.
- 40:30Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, given his passionate speech against ultimately the
- 40:34Speaker 9: Corta Bill, trying to push an amendment of his that
- 40:37Speaker 9: really kind of shortened the timeframes of substantially in regards
- 40:40Speaker 9: to when you had to substantiate a CPS investigation of
- 40:45Speaker 9: child abuse in order to prevent a child from being
- 40:48Speaker 9: pulled out of public school and putting to homeschool. And
- 40:52Speaker 9: then on the opposite end of that, you had de'll
- 40:54Speaker 9: get Elliot Pritt, a FAA County Republican. You had dell
- 40:59Speaker 9: Get Sean Fluhart, Democrat of Ohio County, that both gave
- 41:02Speaker 9: passionate speeches trying to trying to get this bill that
- 41:08Speaker 9: has passed in some form or the other twice previously
- 41:12Speaker 9: in the House of Deligates across the finish line, and
- 41:15Speaker 9: technically they did on their side, but none time to
- 41:19Speaker 9: get it all the way finished because the Senator already
- 41:21Speaker 9: adjourned sine die, so they couldn't take the message, and
- 41:24Speaker 9: that killed the bill.
- 41:25Speaker 6: What do you make of the fact that there were
- 41:26Speaker 6: several Republicans who have gone on record, Weld being one,
- 41:29Speaker 6: am Mi Nicole Grady being one. We had the state
- 41:32Speaker 6: Republican Party chair and Delegate Josh Holstein on the show
- 41:35Speaker 6: yesterday and he pointed blank he wasn't as vocal about
- 41:38Speaker 6: it because it's not really Holstein style, but he point
- 41:41Speaker 6: blank on the show yesterday said I was one of
- 41:43Speaker 6: those that was very disappointed and was and one supported
- 41:47Speaker 6: this bill.
- 41:48Speaker 7: Weld Grady.
- 41:49Speaker 6: They both expressed that they were upset about the fact
- 41:54Speaker 6: that that the bill died.
- 41:55Speaker 7: What do you make of that within the Republican Party.
- 41:58Speaker 9: Well, I mean, and this has been kind of known
- 42:00Speaker 9: for a few years. Of course, Like I said, it's
- 42:02Speaker 9: come out of the House twice. Senate usually bottles it
- 42:05Speaker 9: up somehow. This is the first year that you had
- 42:08Speaker 9: Republicans on the Senate side really say we're going to
- 42:11Speaker 9: do this. You know, the bill that they had there
- 42:13Speaker 9: was a standalone bill, got buried in committee allegedly because
- 42:17Speaker 9: first Lady Denise Morrissey puts the pressure on Chairman Brian
- 42:21Speaker 9: Helton of the Health Committee Senate Health Committee. But what
- 42:23Speaker 9: they ended up doing is amending that into another bill.
- 42:27Speaker 9: They had to overcome a ruling of the chair Senate
- 42:30Speaker 9: President Randy Smith that the entire amendment as amended was
- 42:36Speaker 9: not germane to the bill. They rejected that. They overruled that.
- 42:41Speaker 9: They got it out to the House Friday night at
- 42:45Speaker 9: the House, had the message first thing Saturday morning.
- 42:48Speaker 7: But there are those that say that they didn't get
- 42:50Speaker 7: it till later.
- 42:51Speaker 9: Yeah, and they're all wrong. They had it as of
- 42:55Speaker 9: around nine am. And I've had that from multiple sources,
- 43:00Speaker 9: including the Senate Clerk's office. Maine and Nicely has that
- 43:02Speaker 9: too in a wonderful article that she had today.
- 43:05Speaker 7: Now kJ said the same thing.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Ye, well, they had it.
- 43:07Speaker 9: Now there's different reasons why they take different messages up
- 43:11Speaker 9: when they take them up, and a lot of times
- 43:13Speaker 9: they do push some more difficult stuff.
- 43:14Speaker 5: To the evening. That's not unusual.
- 43:17Speaker 9: But considering this got Christmas Tree to death from the
- 43:20Speaker 9: amendment stage, bringing it up for forty five minutes and
- 43:23Speaker 9: then letting some of the emotions get out of control
- 43:26Speaker 9: as far as limiting time, and a lot of people
- 43:30Speaker 9: try to well, how much time did that person have,
- 43:33Speaker 9: you know, like he really got confusing towards the end,
- 43:36Speaker 9: all that could have been controlled, you know, when the
- 43:40Speaker 9: bill got brought up, and all this stuff could have
- 43:42Speaker 9: been controlled by House Speaker Roger Hanshaw. So I don't
- 43:45Speaker 9: know if he intentionally let him get out of hand
- 43:47Speaker 9: because he supported it from what I understand, but I
- 43:50Speaker 9: don't know what happened. But you had so many Republicans
- 43:53Speaker 9: that were in support of this, and if you just
- 43:57Speaker 9: let it get to the floor for a fair vote,
- 43:59Speaker 9: it went.
- 44:00Speaker 6: And we're talking about Rayleyes Law. By the way, I
- 44:01Speaker 6: probably should have said it. I'll say this and then
- 44:03Speaker 6: we'll let you go. One of the things that I've
- 44:06Speaker 6: been I've heard floated around out there by people who
- 44:08Speaker 6: follow this stuff a lot more closely than I do.
- 44:10Speaker 6: Is you know Sean flu Hardy, who we had on
- 44:12Speaker 6: Metro News mid Day yesterday that I like a flu
- 44:14Speaker 6: Hardy very very impassioned speech. I mean, it's been a
- 44:16Speaker 6: long time since I and he's a fiery guy anyway,
- 44:18Speaker 6: It's been a long time since I've heard that much
- 44:20Speaker 6: fire come out of the out of the chambers. He
- 44:25Speaker 6: is running for Senate, yeah, and it's going to be
- 44:27Speaker 6: a pretty good battle from what I understand up there,
- 44:29Speaker 6: I have heard people that have said, well, no matter what,
- 44:32Speaker 6: they were not going to give flu Hardy a win
- 44:35Speaker 6: because a lot of people think that he has a
- 44:38Speaker 6: very real chance of winning and they did not want
- 44:41Speaker 6: him to go out on a quote unquote win.
- 44:43Speaker 7: Could that you would.
- 44:44Speaker 9: Say, well, yeah, right now, if you look at I've
- 44:48Speaker 9: heard different polling up there that has Laura Wakem Chapman,
- 44:50Speaker 9: the current incumbent senator up there, Republican senator ahead of
- 44:55Speaker 9: her Republican opponent up there, very respected business guy, but
- 44:59Speaker 9: hasn't really been and actively campaigning. So if it's between
- 45:03Speaker 9: her and Sean flu Hardy, I've been told that Sean
- 45:05Speaker 9: Fluti has a real, real chance. So that's a real
- 45:08Speaker 9: possibility to kind of die flu hardy to win, but
- 45:11Speaker 9: also considering that it was Republicans that push it over
- 45:14Speaker 9: on the Senate side, that could have been mitigated, I think,
- 45:18Speaker 9: especially since Senator Amy Grady's name is on that bill
- 45:21Speaker 9: as the lead spots.
- 45:22Speaker 6: She was one of those that was very upset. Yeah
- 45:24Speaker 6: it too, Yeah, and I think she's gonna be on
- 45:26Speaker 6: talk Line today. I think I heard them say that
- 45:28Speaker 6: where can people read your sup Stephen.
- 45:29Speaker 9: Parker's were news we only intelligencer, weird in Daily Times,
- 45:32Speaker 9: the Inner Mountain and Elkins the Martinsburg Journal, end of
- 45:35Speaker 9: the Midion posts.
- 45:35Speaker 7: Now what do you do with all your time?
- 45:37Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 45:38Speaker 5: Probably cleaned the press froom.
- 45:39Speaker 6: It's gonna say cover I was off yesterday, cover news
