- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girl's Gone Hamewark, a Hollmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: a former Hallmark hater. On today's episode, we're discussing Hope
- 0:19Speaker 1: Valley episode seven, which is currently available to stream on
- 0:23Speaker 1: Hallmark Plus. We always tell you that we love your
- 0:26Speaker 1: five star ratings and reviews and our biggest fan down under.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Shannon from Australia left a review on Apple Podcasts Australia.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Well lots exciting, which, by the way, like we have
- 0:38Speaker 1: to change our location, Like if I go to Apple Podcasts,
- 0:40Speaker 1: it's Apple podcasts us, so you have to change your
- 0:42Speaker 1: location to see the reviews from other countries. Wait, did
- 0:46Speaker 1: you look at other countries to see if I had others?
- 0:50Speaker 1: There's other ratings. I'm not sure that I've seen a
- 0:53Speaker 1: review from another country. So if you are an international listener,
- 0:56Speaker 1: leave a written review and then let me know. Because
- 0:58Speaker 1: there's a lot of country so there's not like a
- 1:01Speaker 1: good way. There's not a good way unless I like
- 1:05Speaker 1: type in literally every single country code to see where
- 1:08Speaker 1: those reviews are coming from. Like there's no aggregated way
- 1:12Speaker 1: to see like here's all of your reviews time out.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Though I do know that we get most of our
- 1:17Speaker 1: downloads from the US and then Canada follows after that,
- 1:21Speaker 1: so I think there's a couple Canadian ones. But also
- 1:24Speaker 1: there's like a bad one in Canada. If you're in Canada,
- 1:27Speaker 1: could you help us out and try and bump that
- 1:29Speaker 1: bad review out of the way. That'd be like a
- 1:31Speaker 1: rate a recent bad review. No, it's old, but there's
- 1:35Speaker 1: not a lot of Canadian reviews. Oh I see. Yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 1: we only have two actual written reviews in Canada and
- 1:44Speaker 1: one of them's two stars, and it's titled so Much Screaming.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I mean this is from twenty twelve, that's all. Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 1: it's old, but it still stays and it still shows up.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So if you are a Canadian listener that has not
- 1:58Speaker 1: left a written review, just you know, help the algorithm
- 2:01Speaker 1: out boost get that out of the top two. Please
- 2:05Speaker 1: So Much Screaming? We should put that like on our website.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Sleep okay is let me Shannon have to say. Shannon
- 2:12Speaker 1: left a five star review titled love my ggh Ladies,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and she says, I've said it before and I'm saying
- 2:17Speaker 1: it again. I must have been living under a rock
- 2:19Speaker 1: to not know podcasts about Hallmark existed. I came across
- 2:23Speaker 1: a few, but they weren't my vibe. And that's when
- 2:24Speaker 1: I found GGH and I was sold. It's truly like
- 2:27Speaker 1: chatting with your girlfriends about one of the best topics
- 2:30Speaker 1: in the world, Hallmark movies and shows. Wendy and Megan
- 2:33Speaker 1: have great banter and chemistry and their friendship and this
- 2:36Speaker 1: is always a joy to listen coming through in their podcasts.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I love to feel heard with my views or responses too.
- 2:43Speaker 1: It's great the way they include their listeners. I've been
- 2:45Speaker 1: spreading the word to get more Aussies listening. Do yourself
- 2:49Speaker 1: a favor and tune in. You can thank me later.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I always get so excited to see there's a new
- 2:53Speaker 1: episode to listen to keep them coming, ladies. I love that.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Isn't that great? And she commented on something on Facebook
- 3:02Speaker 1: and I was like, thank you for your nice review,
- 3:04Speaker 1: and she said, I meant every word, so I love it,
- 3:07Speaker 1: love it, Yes, thank you, thank you. That just makes
- 3:12Speaker 1: that just some nice words of affirmation really can turn
- 3:17Speaker 1: your day around. Absolutely absolutely so. Let's kick off our
- 3:23Speaker 1: Hope Valley discussion with the synopsis A young fugitive holds
- 3:28Speaker 1: Rebecca and Tom hostage. Olivia teaches Alexander how to fish,
- 3:33Speaker 1: Hattie becomes a support to Rachel through motherhood. Hey, Wendy,
- 3:38Speaker 1: what is your first impression of episode seven of Hope Valley.
- 3:41Speaker 1: First of all, the episode is called Desperado, and I
- 3:45Speaker 1: can only I only hear that Eagle song because I
- 3:49Speaker 1: am I seeing it every time I see it. But
- 3:51Speaker 1: my first oppression is this. I'm still enjoying the show,
- 3:55Speaker 1: but I'm starting to feel like we're working our way
- 3:59Speaker 1: through a things that happen on TV checklist and this
- 4:04Speaker 1: week's box was hostage situation. That's so interesting. That's your
- 4:10Speaker 1: take on this episode? Well, I feel like this is
- 4:14Speaker 1: can you hear the song? Sorry? I kind of feel like,
- 4:19Speaker 1: you know, if you if you listen to Patreon, if
- 4:21Speaker 1: you listen to our pop culture Club, you know that
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'm in a rewatch of Beverly Hills nine O two
- 4:26Speaker 1: one O. Oh, I have a nine O two one
- 4:28Speaker 1: O reference in this episode. It's fabulous. I'm feeling like
- 4:32Speaker 1: Rebecca's the Kelly Taylor, Like, you know, something always terrible
- 4:36Speaker 1: was happening to Kelly Taylor, especially like in the later
- 4:38Speaker 1: years sure, okay, this is where we're at. This is
- 4:42Speaker 1: and that's what made me start thinking, like, oh, there's
- 4:44Speaker 1: like a checklist of when TV writers are like, Okay,
- 4:47Speaker 1: what are we going to do this week? We need
- 4:49Speaker 1: intrigue in the penultimate episode. Is it going to be
- 4:51Speaker 1: a fire? Is it going to be a hostage situation? Exactly? Exactly.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Tell me your first impression. My first impression is I
- 4:58Speaker 1: take back what I said about Benjamin Air's not being
- 4:59Speaker 1: tough for the role of Tom Moore. I agree. He
- 5:03Speaker 1: really delivered this episode. Yeah, there's this one time he
- 5:07Speaker 1: gave this like look. I was like the hello, you
- 5:11Speaker 1: are tough enough for me. Let's talk about what we liked.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Let's talk about Rebecca and Tom. No, okay, I thought
- 5:19Speaker 1: this was like the best version of them together. I
- 5:21Speaker 1: thought their dynamic really shined. There was a moment that
- 5:25Speaker 1: made me lol when they're on the wagon and they're
- 5:28Speaker 1: taking Eli the guy back. We'll get to we'll get
- 5:31Speaker 1: to that part of the story. But like Eli was
- 5:34Speaker 1: under the impression that Tom was Rebecca's husband, and they
- 5:36Speaker 1: both shout at the same time, we're not married. Yeah,
- 5:39Speaker 1: and I just laughed. I laughed out loud. I thought
- 5:42Speaker 1: it was so funny, but I thought, you know, there
- 5:46Speaker 1: was this like fun dance. Tom is all action, We're
- 5:50Speaker 1: gonna take him down. I'm gonna get you out of here.
- 5:52Speaker 1: And Rebecca is all empathy. Right, She's like, he's a kid,
- 5:56Speaker 1: we need to help him. And instead of like one
- 6:00Speaker 1: right over the other, they do meet in the middle
- 6:03Speaker 1: like they have a nice compromise of like they weren't
- 6:06Speaker 1: tussling about who has the biggest d between them, you know,
- 6:12Speaker 1: and it's Rebecca Rebecca exactly. Look, I love this storyline too.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I actually like the Eli storyline, but I like it
- 6:21Speaker 1: because it sets us up to have these moments with
- 6:24Speaker 1: Tom and Rebecca. We get to see Tom ride for
- 6:27Speaker 1: Rebecca and saying that there were some great moments. He
- 6:29Speaker 1: says he would absolutely lie to Eli, but he would
- 6:32Speaker 1: never lie to her, and then he would trust her
- 6:34Speaker 1: with his own life. And that wagon scene that you
- 6:38Speaker 1: talked about, Eli says you two have an understanding of
- 6:41Speaker 1: each other's minds like married people do, which I thought
- 6:43Speaker 1: was a nice recognition of what's happening here. But this
- 6:47Speaker 1: is my nine on two and zero reference. Please tell
- 6:50Speaker 1: me when Tom arrives back at the ranch and he
- 6:53Speaker 1: notices Rebecca's wagon is still there outside of his house,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and he goes to the door, tell me the nine
- 7:00Speaker 1: on two and O that that reminded you of. Please.
- 7:03Speaker 1: What comes to mind is, unfortunately, when Kelly was being
- 7:07Speaker 1: sexually assaulted and they I think Steven Dylan busted down
- 7:12Speaker 1: the door and he's like, that's the woman I love.
- 7:14Speaker 1: That's interesting. The moment for me was when Donna says
- 7:19Speaker 1: everything's okay, Dave.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Oh oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, because she gave that
- 7:25Speaker 2: little slight of hand with the bloody fingers. Yes, the
- 7:29Speaker 2: big guys like things are not good. Yes, you're right, yes,
- 7:33Speaker 2: like when you're being held hostage and you got to
- 7:36Speaker 2: communicate some sort of signal without giving away everything exactly.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I thought that scene was really good with Rebecca, like
- 7:46Speaker 2: she played it really well, like the bloody fingers and then.
- 7:50Speaker 1: You know, and they're like apples like they were having
- 7:56Speaker 1: I just thought it was funny. I was like, where
- 7:58Speaker 1: are we going with the apples? Okay? Oh right, we're
- 8:00Speaker 1: moving like he was like you could see him figuring
- 8:03Speaker 1: it out in real time. Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
- 8:05Speaker 1: It was great. That was a great scene. You're funny, Dave.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Everything's okay, Dave. I think about that all the time.
- 8:14Speaker 1: My second favorite storyline of this episode is the Hattie
- 8:17Speaker 1: and Rachel b storyline. Yes, I love when we get
- 8:22Speaker 1: a reality, especially a reality of motherhood storyline, and I
- 8:27Speaker 1: think it's important for us to see Rachel struggling, not
- 8:31Speaker 1: only because babies are hard, but life on the frontier
- 8:35Speaker 1: is hard. I can't even imagine you don't have any
- 8:38Speaker 1: modern day conveniences to take care of this baby. I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 1: the girl doesn't have a bouncy seat. She carries this
- 8:43Speaker 1: baby around in a slang twenty four seven, And I
- 8:47Speaker 1: just get that when she was crying, she was just overwhelmed. Yeah,
- 8:52Speaker 1: you remember that feeling of being touched out and overwhelmed
- 8:55Speaker 1: and nothing you will do will make this baby happy
- 8:57Speaker 1: and need a minute. And Hattie once again is the
- 9:02Speaker 1: all star. She steps in with her words of wisdom,
- 9:05Speaker 1: and of course this helps Hattie come to terms with
- 9:08Speaker 1: what she's dealing with Olivia giving her wings. You know,
- 9:12Speaker 1: it's a real sunrise sunset kind of moment here. Yeah,
- 9:16Speaker 1: I liked all of it. I want to give a
- 9:17Speaker 1: shout out to Matrea scar Winner. When she's crying, I
- 9:21Speaker 1: was like, oh, that feels very real, like she just
- 9:25Speaker 1: had like no offense, like an ugly kind of cry
- 9:28Speaker 1: and all her but I felt so believable and relatable
- 9:31Speaker 1: as like a very tired new mom who's just surviving.
- 9:36Speaker 1: I thought it was really good and all those scenes
- 9:39Speaker 1: were probably the I feel like this is probably one
- 9:44Speaker 1: of those storylines that feels the most real. And maybe
- 9:47Speaker 1: that's just from my perspective as a mom. Well it's timeless, right, Like, yes,
- 9:54Speaker 1: they're on the frontier, but this is you know, a
- 9:56Speaker 1: lot of the struggles they're facing are not modern day struggles,
- 10:00Speaker 1: but this very much is. Yeah. You know how we
- 10:03Speaker 1: talked about on our episode of The Way Home, I
- 10:05Speaker 1: think it was episode one, and we were talking how
- 10:07Speaker 1: great Dell's you know speech was about loving heart and
- 10:12Speaker 1: letting go. I felt the same way when Hattie was
- 10:15Speaker 1: talking about like roots and wings. I was like, I
- 10:17Speaker 1: got to write that down because if I'm going to
- 10:20Speaker 1: give a little speech at my daughter's graduation, roots and wings,
- 10:25Speaker 1: like that's beautiful. It is beautiful. It's the same sentiment
- 10:29Speaker 1: of loving heart and letting go. Uh. There's something about
- 10:33Speaker 1: Hope Valley and The Way Home right now that is
- 10:35Speaker 1: just like sticking it to this mom who me, who's
- 10:39Speaker 1: got a daughter graduating high school and who's leaving. You know,
- 10:42Speaker 1: I'm like, what is what is going on right now?
- 10:44Speaker 1: I know all the entertainment I'm consuming is do not
- 10:48Speaker 1: do a Gilmore Girls rewatch. I beg you my daughter
- 10:50Speaker 1: and I hit the series finale and I love that episode.
- 10:56Speaker 1: To me, that's the true finale. A year in the
- 10:58Speaker 1: life doesn't exist, and I just sobbed all the way through.
- 11:01Speaker 1: There's so many great moments, and my daughter goes, should
- 11:04Speaker 1: we rewatch this when I leave for college? I was like, no, seriously,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you know, that's like a yearly rewatch for me. And
- 11:10Speaker 1: I'm like, don't do it. I'm just gonna hold on,
- 11:12Speaker 1: don't do Okay, what else? I really liked the theme
- 11:16Speaker 1: of this episode for me. There was like law versus
- 11:21Speaker 1: instinct versus survival, and you know, Eli's not a bad person,
- 11:27Speaker 1: He's just someone trying to survive. And I love that
- 11:30Speaker 1: Rebecca leans towards that compassion because she understands it right,
- 11:34Speaker 1: She's just trying to survive as well. And then we
- 11:37Speaker 1: have Tom, who leans towards like instinct and loyalty, and
- 11:41Speaker 1: then we have Alex who represents the law. So we
- 11:43Speaker 1: have this little triangle of you Alex Alexander. Oh oh
- 11:49Speaker 1: oh did I just call him Alex best friends Alexander?
- 11:53Speaker 1: I was like, who's that? That's funny anyway, I thought,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you know, it's it's an interesting lay Did they have
- 12:00Speaker 1: to this show? Because you know, the law is so
- 12:03Speaker 1: new for them out there. They've been doing like instinct
- 12:07Speaker 1: and survival for a long time, but now with the
- 12:10Speaker 1: introduction of law, like how it comes into play. I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think it's really interesting. It almost makes me want to
- 12:17Speaker 1: rewatch Little House on the Prairie because how did they
- 12:21Speaker 1: have did they? Was there a law element in Little
- 12:24Speaker 1: House on the Prairie do you remember? I don't remember,
- 12:27Speaker 1: but you know that show is coming back this summer,
- 12:29Speaker 1: so you know, really I'm dying to watch it. I
- 12:34Speaker 1: am dying to watch it. The Olivia Alexander storyline boring. Sorry. Yeah,
- 12:41Speaker 1: I don't have a lot to say about it except
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'm curious more in relation to what was going on
- 12:46Speaker 1: with Hattie and Olivia getting into the University of Ontario
- 12:52Speaker 1: or wherever she's going. She's headed to Toronto potentially, I'm
- 12:55Speaker 1: curious what this means for Olivia next season, especially since
- 12:59Speaker 1: we've set up this love triangle with Clayton and Constable
- 13:02Speaker 1: Vaughan and she ain't going anywhere. I mean, it doesn't
- 13:05Speaker 1: make sense that she would be. And she kind of
- 13:08Speaker 1: makes a comment like, oh, I'm liking the Frontier more
- 13:10Speaker 1: and more lately, and I don't think she'll leave. It
- 13:14Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense for her to leave. But they
- 13:16Speaker 1: had set up a little bit of a little bit
- 13:18Speaker 1: of a question mark there. Well, let me tell you, actually,
- 13:22Speaker 1: I'm going to put it in my digite that so
- 13:23Speaker 1: we're going to come back to that. Let me just
- 13:25Speaker 1: put a note here so I remember to talk about it. Okay,
- 13:27Speaker 1: let's talk about mister Maxwell storyline. Oh yeah, he's in
- 13:31Speaker 1: my wishes. Oh okay, Well, it's part of my like
- 13:35Speaker 1: but I do have it in my wishes as well.
- 13:40Speaker 1: The arrival of mister Maxwell, I mean, we get a
- 13:44Speaker 1: little bit of intrigue here. It's giving slightly corny, especially
- 13:49Speaker 1: like because they're trying to make him like this big
- 13:52Speaker 1: fish out of water here. Yea, is he supposed to
- 13:55Speaker 1: be British or like, where's he from? All these questions?
- 14:01Speaker 1: He's obviously suspicious. He's asking Hattie about the gold that
- 14:07Speaker 1: she keeps her and how much comes through the trading post.
- 14:09Speaker 1: He's lurking around at night, He's inserting himself into a
- 14:13Speaker 1: lot of things. He's at Rebecca's and part of me
- 14:18Speaker 1: I didn't even realize to the very end, I was like, oh,
- 14:21Speaker 1: wait a minute, is he tied to Rebecca? Like? Is
- 14:24Speaker 1: he looking for Rebecca? Was he hired by her husband's family,
- 14:31Speaker 1: or is he just here running his own scam? Is
- 14:34Speaker 1: he's stealing from the other prospectors. What's happening? I don't
- 14:40Speaker 1: know why this is going to sound like a wish.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I don't know why you introduced this in episode seven. Yeah,
- 14:47Speaker 1: next week is the finale. So I'm like, Okay, what's
- 14:51Speaker 1: happening here? Who's this dude? I like that we have intrigue,
- 14:55Speaker 1: but again goes back to my first impressions, like the
- 15:00Speaker 1: this is a TV checklist. Sure, let's introduce somebody who's
- 15:03Speaker 1: very suspicious. That's all I got. Let's take a quick
- 15:07Speaker 1: break and we'll come right back with our wishes. We're
- 15:17Speaker 1: gonna talk wishes, and just to piggyback on your mister
- 15:21Speaker 1: Maxwell comment, this is I have two big wishes in
- 15:24Speaker 1: this episode and mister Maxwell. My wish is what the
- 15:27Speaker 1: hell is up with mister Maxwell? And honestly, how did
- 15:29Speaker 1: this englishman make it all the way to the frontier?
- 15:31Speaker 1: And as we were sitting here talking, I'm thinking, is
- 15:33Speaker 1: that accent fake? Oh? Is that like a little disguise
- 15:37Speaker 1: he's put on? I don't know. There were too many questions.
- 15:41Speaker 1: All of a sudden, he appears at the boarding house
- 15:44Speaker 1: and I was just thinking, who is this man? What
- 15:47Speaker 1: is he doing? What's his endgame? He's they set up
- 15:50Speaker 1: that Pete has lost his goal, but you know, Pete's
- 15:52Speaker 1: a drunk, so maybe Pete. I don't know what's going
- 15:55Speaker 1: on here. I don't know. To me, I was like,
- 15:59Speaker 1: too many questions, enough answers about what's happening here? Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 1: I agree, I have one more wish? But what do
- 16:04Speaker 1: you have? Oh? I have a couple more wishes. But
- 16:06Speaker 1: in terms of new characters, we've reintroduced Wanda. I guess
- 16:10Speaker 1: Wanda was in an episode briefly. Yeah, she turned in
- 16:15Speaker 1: some gold. Yeah, Wanda, who are you? Now? You're staying
- 16:18Speaker 1: at Rebecca's house and you have all these lines? Who
- 16:23Speaker 1: are you? Are you by yourself? Why are we introducing
- 16:26Speaker 1: all these characters without a clear purpose. I don't understand
- 16:30Speaker 1: season two set up. Probably, but then we don't develop
- 16:36Speaker 1: Peggy and her husband Nash. We're not developing them at all. Clayton,
- 16:43Speaker 1: We're not developing him, Rachel and her husband. There's other
- 16:46Speaker 1: characters I care about that we could dig into further
- 16:50Speaker 1: without bringing in like I'm quoting special guests. Sure, I agree. Well,
- 16:55Speaker 1: for my other wish, I am going to read an
- 16:57Speaker 1: email from a listener. They echoed my wish, and since
- 17:00Speaker 1: we're not really doing real listener mail bag, we're doing
- 17:02Speaker 1: the way home. I'm trying to insert these emails throughout
- 17:05Speaker 1: episodes as they make sense. So leave an email from
- 17:08Speaker 1: Amy who says, I hope this most recent episode would
- 17:11Speaker 1: have had more about Rebecca's in laws looking for them,
- 17:14Speaker 1: but we got nothing. They're really saving this storyline for
- 17:17Speaker 1: the last minute, aren't they. I'm enjoying the show for sure,
- 17:19Speaker 1: although it is slow. Watching this season makes me understand
- 17:22Speaker 1: why when Calls the Heart has gone on for like
- 17:24Speaker 1: eleven seasons, if that show operates at the same pace,
- 17:27Speaker 1: they've probably only told two years worth of story in
- 17:30Speaker 1: all that time. And Amy really echoes what I was
- 17:34Speaker 1: thinking that we got the setup of the in laws
- 17:36Speaker 1: at the end of episode six, and then absolutely nothing,
- 17:40Speaker 1: not even a whiff of it, unless, like you said,
- 17:42Speaker 1: mister Maxwell is somehow connected, although I suspect he's more
- 17:46Speaker 1: of a gold situation con man. But I just thought
- 17:52Speaker 1: to introduce that and then drop it. I suppose the
- 17:54Speaker 1: idea is that when we bring it back in episode eight,
- 17:57Speaker 1: that it's more of a oh oh yeah. But I
- 18:01Speaker 1: would have liked to see some movement on that front.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I think so too, And I was like, Okay, are
- 18:05Speaker 1: we setting up for season two? Maybe next week's episode
- 18:11Speaker 1: will be I guess it will be. This week's episode
- 18:14Speaker 1: will be a bigger movement. I'm assuming it's going to
- 18:18Speaker 1: be a bigger movement of Rebecca's husband's family, like finding
- 18:23Speaker 1: where they are. Let's take mister Maxwell out of it.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Let's sure, let's assume he's a con man outstealing money.
- 18:30Speaker 1: They're going to end season one with a cliffhanger of
- 18:32Speaker 1: Rebecca being found and then and then what you know. Yeah, So,
- 18:38Speaker 1: with that being said, with the finale next week, what
- 18:40Speaker 1: are you hoping and we're expecting to see happen there?
- 18:44Speaker 1: I have no idea, no idea except here's where I'm
- 18:48Speaker 1: going to insert my Did you see that? I noticed
- 18:51Speaker 1: that Kim Cooperis's name has been in the opening credits
- 18:55Speaker 1: as a Oh, that's right, you mentioned that to me
- 18:57Speaker 1: consulting supervisor or pretty user or something. I can't remember
- 19:01Speaker 1: the role exactly. And you know King Cooper's is the
- 19:04Speaker 1: writer of writer and creator of Mistletoe Murders. Yes, and
- 19:09Speaker 1: I was like, I wonder if they brought him in
- 19:11Speaker 1: for like a mystery element, to like, uh, help develop
- 19:16Speaker 1: the mystery angle of it all. That's a good point.
- 19:19Speaker 1: I like that he's involved, so do I. But I
- 19:22Speaker 1: would honestly please give me more Mistletoe Murder sure, yeah,
- 19:26Speaker 1: of course, don't be spreading my man kid too thin.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Here he has been. Fortunately it has been renewed for
- 19:32Speaker 1: a season three, so I know. But I would also
- 19:36Speaker 1: like the spinoff with Violet. So yeah. Anyway, back to
- 19:40Speaker 1: my wishes, and this is what I talk about every
- 19:42Speaker 1: week and it still continues, is that Rebecca knows everything,
- 19:46Speaker 1: and it has to do when she is sawing off
- 19:50Speaker 1: the cas Oh my gosh, on cash, I'm like, and
- 19:54Speaker 1: then she's looking at his lane. She's like, it's great.
- 19:56Speaker 1: She's like touching his leg, it looks great, your your
- 19:59Speaker 1: bone is all healed. And then when she's taking the
- 20:02Speaker 1: bullet out of Eli's shoulder, she's like, you know, I
- 20:05Speaker 1: have some medical knowledge and I could not help but
- 20:09Speaker 1: think nobody's asking me to do taxes. My husband's an accountant, right,
- 20:15Speaker 1: It's like me saying like I have some accounting knowledge. Sure, sure,
- 20:19Speaker 1: I'm not out here doing I don't even do our
- 20:22Speaker 1: back end stuff, Megan, you know, I just I'm like,
- 20:27Speaker 1: this is ridiculous. This is so ridiculous. Nash could have
- 20:31Speaker 1: gone on a wagon ride to an actual doctor to
- 20:35Speaker 1: have this cast taken off and his bone looked at
- 20:37Speaker 1: like when it happened. Initially, yes, it was an emergency
- 20:41Speaker 1: and Rebecca stepped in, but at this point he can
- 20:45Speaker 1: go see a professional Kenny not I certainly would think so, yes,
- 20:50Speaker 1: but why Rebecca's right there and she's not everything so dumb.
- 20:53Speaker 1: She's a renaissance woman. And then obviously something is not
- 20:56Speaker 1: right because it just seems struggling to get into the
- 20:58Speaker 1: wagon and Clayton's like, and now are you doing okay?
- 21:01Speaker 1: They're like, oh you think that's foreshadowing? I mean I do,
- 21:06Speaker 1: look you when my kid broke a bone. He lived
- 21:08Speaker 1: for a month after. So I broke a bone two years,
- 21:12Speaker 1: three years ago, and when it gets cold, I still
- 21:15Speaker 1: have some real issues. I gotta put a little brace
- 21:19Speaker 1: on because it hurts so bad. Yeah, so, I mean
- 21:22Speaker 1: I get it. I get it. Maybe then why throw
- 21:24Speaker 1: this like throwaway line for Clayton, like you okay, we
- 21:28Speaker 1: gotta give Clayton something to say in this episode. Poor Clayton.
- 21:31Speaker 1: All he does is make fourceeps and drive the wagon.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Oh my god, the foceps and the visual I had
- 21:36Speaker 1: with that. I was like, no, no, no, no, no
- 21:38Speaker 1: no no no no, no no no. My next wish
- 21:42Speaker 1: is Alexander, what are you doing? You're supposed to be
- 21:45Speaker 1: the loss? Or I get that he's going to take
- 21:47Speaker 1: his day off to go fishing and have this whole
- 21:49Speaker 1: like flirty encounter with Olivia. Does he not think mister
- 21:55Speaker 1: Maxwell is suspicious at all? Yeah? I mean I would
- 21:58Speaker 1: think maybe he should be suspicious of every new person
- 22:01Speaker 1: that shows up a little bit. Well, he was so
- 22:04Speaker 1: hot on Rebecca, being like, oh she's she doesn't fit
- 22:08Speaker 1: in here? What about this englishman? To me? Again? This
- 22:12Speaker 1: is where my frontier ignorance comes into play. I'm like,
- 22:15Speaker 1: this man would have had to come all like all
- 22:18Speaker 1: of the other prospectors, right, they would have to come
- 22:20Speaker 1: a long way to get there. And he's I don't know.
- 22:24Speaker 1: I'm like, I understand the boat on the ocean, right,
- 22:27Speaker 1: you know, we at this time were not all that
- 22:31Speaker 1: far removed from being British. But it seems like, yes,
- 22:34Speaker 1: if he still has his accent, he wasn't raised here,
- 22:39Speaker 1: So yeah, I don't know what's going on here. I
- 22:44Speaker 1: like your theory that it might be put on Yeah,
- 22:47Speaker 1: I do too, especially because he's like when he said
- 22:51Speaker 1: the bangers, what he was asking for this? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:54Speaker 1: Like you know, I like that theory. I like that
- 22:57Speaker 1: theory a lot. My last wish it has to go
- 22:59Speaker 1: back to the hostage storyline again. I feel like it's
- 23:05Speaker 1: classic insert danger here. I think I would have preferred
- 23:11Speaker 1: some more organic conflict in the town rather than these
- 23:17Speaker 1: like one off storylines. Yeah, yeah, I don't even mind.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I don't even mind the story of like Eli coming
- 23:25Speaker 1: through their town, but it didn't have to make it dangerous.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I don't know, I just dumb. I didn't mind it
- 23:32Speaker 1: at all. I liked it. I liked her little Eli intrigue.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Did you like the talk about d swing in between
- 23:39Speaker 1: the ranchers, Yeah, the two ranchers, Yeah, get off my land. Yeah,
- 23:44Speaker 1: I kind of did. When he swaggers out of that
- 23:47Speaker 1: house with his rifle, dude, the rifle, I was like, damn,
- 23:52Speaker 1: we're not playing here.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Okay.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, No, Benjamin Ayers was really doing it for me
- 23:57Speaker 1: as toa more in this episode. So I take back
- 24:00Speaker 1: what I said a couple episodes ago about maybe this
- 24:02Speaker 1: is a miscast. I enjoy Benjamin Air's a lot. Sure,
- 24:05Speaker 1: he's working for me. It's selling it. Are you ready
- 24:08Speaker 1: to talk? Did you see that? Yeah? And I kind
- 24:10Speaker 1: of already talked about it. Most of the things that
- 24:13Speaker 1: sign off the cast, the bloody hands, Oh oh, I
- 24:16Speaker 1: have two two more. I do love when Tom backs
- 24:20Speaker 1: Rebecca publicly in front of Cal, when Cal tries to
- 24:23Speaker 1: undermined Rebecca, like I guess yeah, He's like, oh, you're
- 24:27Speaker 1: gonna let those You're gonna let those woman talk for you,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and Tom's like, she she speaks for herself. I love that. Yeah,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I love that. My next did you see that? Okay?
- 24:38Speaker 1: The title the title of the show is ohpe Valley
- 24:40Speaker 1: eighteen seventy four are we gonna be stuck in eighteen
- 24:42Speaker 1: seventy four forever? Oh yeah, I'm yeah, yeah. How are
- 24:46Speaker 1: they gonna get away from this? Good question? How are
- 24:49Speaker 1: they What are they gonna do here?
- 24:51Speaker 2: I don't know?
- 24:52Speaker 1: Good question. They're not going to change the title every year.
- 24:54Speaker 1: We're not gonna be stuck in eighteen seventy four forever.
- 24:58Speaker 1: What are they going to you do? Great question? Do
- 25:01Speaker 1: you know if it's been renewed yet for season two?
- 25:03Speaker 1: I have not heard so for my digit s that
- 25:06Speaker 1: the that's what she said. Jokes in this episode when
- 25:10Speaker 1: they're fishing, Alexander says, am I holding it right? And
- 25:13Speaker 1: then later Olivia says, that's a big one, and I'm
- 25:15Speaker 1: sorry to anyone who is more mature than I am
- 25:18Speaker 1: who is listening to this. And finally a email we
- 25:22Speaker 1: got from Marcia. Marcia says, did you mention beth Andy
- 25:25Speaker 1: Joy Lenz sings the song in the opening credits? We did.
- 25:29Speaker 1: We talked about that in episode one, but if anybody
- 25:31Speaker 1: missed that, she does. Once again, I find the tone
- 25:37Speaker 1: of the song incongruous with the content of the show.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I don't care, I love it, I do it. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: would play I need to sing along with it, and
- 25:45Speaker 1: I found myself this morning in the valley right. It's
- 25:49Speaker 1: a catchy tune. It is it is. I like it too,
- 25:52Speaker 1: singing it this morning. I'm gonna need some hope in
- 25:54Speaker 1: this valley though, and Marcia says, I usually fast forward
- 25:58Speaker 1: past the intro of most streaming shows, but the tune
- 26:00Speaker 1: is quite good and I enjoyed listening to it. So
- 26:03Speaker 1: a little shout out for Beth and New Joy lens there.
- 26:06Speaker 1: I wish there was. I wonder if there's a longer
- 26:09Speaker 1: version of it. Oh, is it available? We'll look and
- 26:12Speaker 1: we'll put it in the show notes if there is.
- 26:13Speaker 1: For sure. Hey, thanks for listening to this episode of
