- 0:48we building that brand.
- 0:49Grab a plate.
- 0:50Tune in now, you part of the fam.
- 0:56It's lunch time!
- 1:02That is two days in a row.
- 1:04Stella got her groove back.
- 1:06I'm telling you, two days in a row.
- 1:09Today, we got the right background.
- 1:11The mic didn't mute you immediately as
- 1:13soon as we got on.
- 1:15We're just knocking it out the park with
- 1:17this whole podcasting thing.
- 1:20Just for mirrors.
- 1:20Oh, man, who hit the SAP button?
- 1:23I don't know who hit that,
- 1:24but you better hit the like and subscribe
- 1:25button.
- 1:26That's what I'm talking about.
- 1:29Those are the important buttons.
- 1:31Tee it up.
- 1:33Get those.
- 1:35We're all good.
- 1:37What I want to say is the opening
- 1:40is a reenactment of me trying to explain
- 1:46to Corey before we went on air.
- 1:50I don't know what happened.
- 1:52My brain disconnected from my tongue and
- 1:55it just...
- 1:57All of a sudden,
- 2:00Scott started speaking Mandarin.
- 2:03It was crazy.
- 2:06Just out of nowhere.
- 2:08And Scott doesn't actually speak Mandarin,
- 2:09in case you guys didn't know.
- 2:11It's probably because I hate my job.
- 2:15Which we were also discussing.
- 2:17There's that.
- 2:20Because today I've got to leave to go
- 2:21to a one o'clock meeting with a meeting
- 2:24after that and then a meeting after that.
- 2:28And I've already had a handful of things
- 2:30before I got here.
- 2:31Because why wouldn't you?
- 2:33Because it's a short week.
- 2:35So let's compress everything from five
- 2:37days into four.
- 2:39Yeah,
- 2:40I know we tell you you get a
- 2:41day off.
- 2:43No,
- 2:43we're going to make you work like all
- 2:47the days in four.
- 2:51Judy Reed,
- 2:52did I hear someone speak Chinese?
- 2:55Maybe.
- 2:56It's entirely possible, Judy.
- 2:58If you can go back and translate,
- 3:02that'd be fantastic.
- 3:05Hello, Judy.
- 3:08That's called aphasia.
- 3:15Mark Phillips has this to say.
- 3:18Sweet.
- 3:19I agree, Mark.
- 3:24Uh...
- 3:26How many of those meetings could just be
- 3:28an email?
- 3:28Let me answer all of them.
- 3:30Well,
- 3:31my first meeting was a training that I
- 3:32had to conduct that couldn't be an email
- 3:36because we're recording them to make a
- 3:38library of trainings.
- 3:40So people don't have to go out and,
- 3:41Oh my God,
- 3:43we've already been through this.
- 3:46So there it is.
- 3:53And then the next one probably could have
- 3:55been an email.
- 3:59Oh, my gosh.
- 4:02There it is again.
- 4:06I guess I should have said I'm right.
- 4:09Vicky is right.
- 4:10Vicky is right.
- 4:13So right.
- 4:14There we go.
- 4:17Judy translated and it says,
- 4:18go right and subscribe to Cridesdale
- 4:21Media.
- 4:22Cridesdale Media.
- 4:28I did see Avera say that they did
- 4:32Omar and that it was very hot and
- 4:36sticky wherever he is.
- 4:39The last time I did Omar was in
- 4:41the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
- 4:44I don't even know what Omar is.
- 4:46It's bar-facing burpees and thrusters.
- 4:49Ooh.
- 4:50Yeah.
- 4:51It's kind of a nasty,
- 4:52nasty little hero wad.
- 4:54And I did it on –
- 4:56So CrossFit Outer Banks used to be strips
- 5:00of lifting platforms.
- 5:03So your barbell was on the rubber and
- 5:05the wood was down the middle.
- 5:07So you're doing burpees on the wood.
- 5:10And as Lake Schweitzer formed,
- 5:14it was splash down, jump, splash down,
- 5:18jump.
- 5:20Try not to fall down.
- 5:24Jump.
- 5:24Correct,
- 5:25because then that wood gets slick.
- 5:27Slick.
- 5:27Slick as a whistle.
- 5:28Slick.
- 5:29Makes the down part of the burpee go
- 5:31fast.
- 5:32I do not like lifting on lifting platforms
- 5:36during the summertime because of the same
- 5:38reason.
- 5:39I sweat a whole lot.
- 5:41Between the sweat and the chalk,
- 5:42I end up with basically an ice patch
- 5:45up underneath me as far as surface is
- 5:49concerned.
- 5:50And like,
- 5:50I am scared to death to do like
- 5:53a split jerk and have my foot just
- 5:55hit and go out in front of me
- 5:57when I got, you know, two fifty,
- 6:00two hundred sixty pounds over my head.
- 6:01Not cool.
- 6:04Ten thrusters at ninety five sixty five.
- 6:07Fifteen bar facing burpees.
- 6:09Twenty thrusters.
- 6:11Twenty five bar facing burpees.
- 6:12Thirty thrusters.
- 6:13Thirty five.
- 6:16Thirty five was absolutely brutal.
- 6:19Yeah, that could be bad.
- 6:21Brutal.
- 6:22And it was the burpees for me.
- 6:24Like I got through the thrusters.
- 6:25All right.
- 6:27The burpees.
- 6:28But at that point in the workout, I.
- 6:31You might as well just beat me with
- 6:32a baseball bat because that's how it felt.
- 6:37I like that.
- 6:38I'm good.
- 6:38I'm good with that one.
- 6:40That looks like something.
- 6:40I mean, it's right up my alley.
- 6:45Lito, it's like a dream workout to her.
- 6:49Well, we're not as fit as you, Lito.
- 6:52No.
- 6:54Just saying.
- 6:55Working on it.
- 6:56Working on it.
- 6:57But as of right now, no,
- 6:59not so much.
- 7:01Clydesdales do not like burpees.
- 7:04I have not met a big dude yet
- 7:05who was like,
- 7:06let's do a hundred burpees for time.
- 7:10I'll tell you what else they don't like,
- 7:11which we had programmed this morning
- 7:13because we do it at least once a
- 7:15year, is a mile run for time.
- 7:19I actually had a bunch of people show
- 7:20up this morning.
- 7:20I was impressed.
- 7:22And then I had at least
- 7:27three or four of them that PR'd.
- 7:29So it was pretty cool,
- 7:30especially considering it's ninety degrees
- 7:31outside at six o'clock in the morning.
- 7:36Yeah, I, burpees for me,
- 7:41it's all a mentality, right?
- 7:42Like,
- 7:43you control the speed and the intensity of
- 7:46the burpee, right?
- 7:48And it's just getting to a point where
- 7:54you find a pace that makes sense to
- 7:56you and if you can do that then
- 7:58you can mentally get through that i that
- 8:00you have to do burpees right now there's
- 8:02those moments like if you're in the open
- 8:04or you're in a competition and you got
- 8:06to go past that comfort pace that all
- 8:11of a sudden yeah now we're we're not
- 8:13in fun time anymore this is not happy
- 8:17happy fun time anymore
- 8:23You see, the thing is,
- 8:25see what happened was you go at it
- 8:28with no warmup and finish before you start
- 8:30sweating.
- 8:31If you can finish that workout,
- 8:33Dan Church, before you start sweating,
- 8:37you are a rock star stud.
- 8:41I can't walk outside right now without
- 8:44sweating.
- 8:45So like, that's just not going to happen.
- 8:47I do understand what he means though.
- 8:50My strategy every time I've done Fran was
- 8:53to be done with it before my body
- 8:54figures out what was happening.
- 8:57Like just go as quick as you possibly
- 8:59can until you get to like the nine
- 9:01and by that point it's done basically.
- 9:03So before your body figures out what's
- 9:05actually going on.
- 9:07Same type of thing like that.
- 9:10Not to change the subject,
- 9:11but that's what we do on the show.
- 9:13My wife is home from work today.
- 9:16She's working from home.
- 9:19So when I come down to do this
- 9:20show, she takes her lunch hour.
- 9:23The bass on my sound system just rocked
- 9:27my ceiling, her floor.
- 9:30And you know what that means?
- 9:31Serial killer shows.
- 9:34Boom, boom.
- 9:35Yeah.
- 9:37yep the big bass booming through my
- 9:40ceiling something interesting just
- 9:42happened somebody died who did it or or
- 9:49and they just revealed who did it ah
- 9:56it's so silly yeah so silly it really
- 10:00really is that's all she watches man you
- 10:03know dude
- 10:06i sleep with one eye open or my
- 10:09wife would get along just fine they watch
- 10:11it that's
- 10:13If it's on Netflix and it involves,
- 10:15as long as it doesn't involve kids,
- 10:17neither one of us are watching that,
- 10:19right?
- 10:20Like there was one about it, some lady,
- 10:22all the descriptions like,
- 10:24what she did in a NICU.
- 10:25And I'm like, well, not watching that.
- 10:27And you got no urge for that.
- 10:29Definitely not checking that out.
- 10:30But like all the rest of them,
- 10:31like the women who killed their husbands,
- 10:33the husbands who killed their wives,
- 10:35et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
- 10:36Yeah,
- 10:36we've seen all of those a hundred times.
- 10:39Sleep with one eye open.
- 10:43gripping your pillow um there's there was
- 10:51one that made it through um the lake
- 10:55erie murders one of the one of the
- 10:59things actually happened in my old
- 11:00hometown and it was the sister of one
- 11:03of my friends
- 11:04And she wanted to know all the details
- 11:07of it.
- 11:07And it's something that like,
- 11:10I don't want to, like, that's almost,
- 11:12that's kind of a bad memory for me.
- 11:13Right.
- 11:14Yeah,
- 11:14I don't need to know all the details.
- 11:19That's the only time like I haven't
- 11:21supported her in whatever she wants to
- 11:23watch, right?
- 11:23Like, because I just,
- 11:26I didn't need to relive it.
- 11:29Oh, we watched the Derek Todd Lee stuff,
- 11:31and that happened right there in Baton
- 11:32Rouge while my wife was going to LSU.
- 11:36We've seen all of that stuff.
- 11:38Proximity for her is even better.
- 11:40Now she knows all the details because now
- 11:42if it's somebody that she knows that knows
- 11:45the person or whatever the case may be,
- 11:47she's all into that.
- 11:51Every bad news story starts with he or
- 11:53she was obsessed with serial killers.
- 11:56Actually, Wayne,
- 11:57I think most of them start off with,
- 11:58he seemed like such a nice guy.
- 12:00He was quiet.
- 12:01He's quiet.
- 12:02Kept to himself.
- 12:03You know why he kept to himself?
- 12:04Because if you can't be real social,
- 12:06if you're burying bodies in the backyard,
- 12:08that's why they keep to themselves.
- 12:12You know,
- 12:12my wife made the news one night.
- 12:16Say it again.
- 12:17My wife made the news one night as
- 12:18a witness to, well, I don't.
- 12:20Okay.
- 12:21So she was pulled up to a red
- 12:23light.
- 12:24Someone from the other direction ran the
- 12:28red light,
- 12:30and their car flipped over top my wife's
- 12:32car.
- 12:36And so the news camera came in,
- 12:38grabbed my wife.
- 12:39It was raining.
- 12:39She had her hood up.
- 12:41They're asking her what she saw.
- 12:46To this day, my favorite,
- 12:47funniest story of my wife.
- 12:49She was like, I don't know.
- 12:52All I saw was wheels and axles.
- 12:59There it was on the six o'clock news.
- 13:02And I'm like,
- 13:02they find a way to make people look
- 13:05like they didn't even get their GED when
- 13:08they interview them for the news.
- 13:11My wife is a college-educated woman,
- 13:13and she came across those,
- 13:15all I saw was wheels and axles.
- 13:17I don't even know.
- 13:18I don't even know.
- 13:20I was standing there one second,
- 13:21car flipped over, man.
- 13:21I don't know.
- 13:22Yeah,
- 13:25they added that stuff to make it seem...
- 13:28however they want to make it seem I
- 13:29mean they could take video of us and
- 13:31make us look terrible if they wanted to
- 13:32it really wouldn't be that difficult to do
- 13:33but yeah they always say they always
- 13:38interview the stupidest people no not
- 13:41really I uh
- 13:45we had a TiVo at the time.
- 13:47This is how long, it was like,
- 13:48twenty-five years ago.
- 13:49Yeah, I had a TiVo.
- 13:51And I TiVo'd the news to capture that.
- 13:55And when friends would come over,
- 13:56I was like, hey, let's watch this.
- 13:59Right?
- 14:00And then I,
- 14:01the saddest moment was I had to get
- 14:03rid of that TiVo.
- 14:12games athlete showed up at my box
- 14:14yesterday to work out she did not do
- 14:16omar with us i will leave her name
- 14:18out of the comments section but top ten
- 14:20athlete for the past five years at the
- 14:21games i mean uh female top ten athlete
- 14:32last five years daniel brandon in most
- 14:38games athletes
- 14:40My experience when they've dropped in at
- 14:42boxes I belong to,
- 14:44don't do the class workout.
- 14:48Oddly enough,
- 14:49no games athletes have ever dropped into
- 14:51the box.
- 14:53Believe it or not.
- 14:56I am trying to be the games athlete
- 14:58that drops into my own box come next
- 15:00year.
- 15:03I got bronchitis.
- 15:05Ain't nobody got time for that.
- 15:10My old gym, Sarah Sigmund started,
- 15:12dropped in.
- 15:14And when I was with Polaris and Christy,
- 15:20games athletes would come in for the
- 15:21Arnold and then drop in to work out
- 15:23with Christy.
- 15:24Yeah.
- 15:25So like Justin Medeiros, Sam Briggs,
- 15:31Dan Bailey was there all the time.
- 15:35It just happened all the time just because
- 15:37Christy was there, right?
- 15:39And they were in for the Arnold,
- 15:40so they would pop in.
- 15:43You saw Dan Bailey withdrew from Xenon
- 15:46over the weekend.
- 15:47I did.
- 15:47Did we talk about that yesterday?
- 15:49Did I see that yesterday?
- 15:52I don't know if we talked about it
- 15:54or not.
- 15:55I did text with Emily Rolfe last night.
- 15:58Oh, yeah?
- 15:59Asked her about the Xenon.
- 16:02The Xenon.
- 16:04Xenon.
- 16:05Coming to a city near you.
- 16:08Not really.
- 16:08The next city it's going to is London,
- 16:10which is nowhere near me.
- 16:12Yeah, but it's near Lido.
- 16:13It is near Lido.
- 16:15Yeah, don't be selfish about this.
- 16:18Okay, fair enough.
- 16:19My bad.
- 16:25And so I asked her about the experience
- 16:28and all that stuff.
- 16:29And for the most part, very, very glowing.
- 16:32She said very well run.
- 16:34The floor was very nice.
- 16:35The equipment was awesome.
- 16:37All of that kind of stuff.
- 16:39But her being an elite.
- 16:41So we had Megan on Sunday night.
- 16:44Yep.
- 16:44I watched it.
- 16:45Elite.
- 16:46Emily is an elite athlete who's finished
- 16:48third at the games, right?
- 16:50She has done Rogue.
- 16:51She has done Waterpalooza.
- 16:52She's done Dubai.
- 16:54She's done all the things.
- 16:56And I was like,
- 16:57did it feel special to you?
- 16:59And she said, like,
- 17:02when you've done all the events she's
- 17:03done,
- 17:04it's really hard to make an event like
- 17:06this special.
- 17:07But she said,
- 17:08I could imagine if you're not a games
- 17:11athlete who's done Dubai and Rogue and all
- 17:13that, that you would feel pretty special.
- 17:16It probably felt like a bigger comp,
- 17:19like stuff that she's already done before.
- 17:21Yeah.
- 17:21Yeah, I could see that.
- 17:23Now,
- 17:24the two pieces I think that are very
- 17:26valid, kind of,
- 17:29if you're an elite athlete, because one,
- 17:31I don't think it's really geared for elite
- 17:33athletes.
- 17:34I think they're trying to use elite
- 17:35athletes to show it off.
- 17:38But it's really for the people who want
- 17:39to go try to be like a games
- 17:42athlete and get the experience, right?
- 17:46Games fantasy camp is what they kept
- 17:48saying about it.
- 17:49Yeah.
- 17:50So what I will say is the two
- 17:52constructive things that she said and very
- 17:55constructive, not in a mean way is one.
- 18:00It's an all or nothing prize, right?
- 18:03You break the world record,
- 18:04you win the money.
- 18:05You don't break the world record,
- 18:07no money.
- 18:10The other thing is she won five events
- 18:15and,
- 18:17abby won two and she came in second
- 18:20she came in second and so she would
- 18:22say she did say that it does seem
- 18:26a bit skewed to the gaps in weightlifting
- 18:32as opposed to the gaps in general fitness
- 18:36Yeah,
- 18:36John Young was saying that on the podcast
- 18:40last night.
- 18:41I was watching that right before I came
- 18:42on here about how badly they got beaten
- 18:47by Colton and Chris on one of them,
- 18:52whatever it was.
- 18:54But they won the snatch event,
- 18:55so it ended up being a whole lot
- 18:57closer.
- 18:58But like he said,
- 19:00they tripled their score.
- 19:03whatever the whatever the other event was
- 19:05and i was like man that is like
- 19:08that's kind of crazy right also i think
- 19:10that that probably also speaks to the
- 19:13level of participation because it seems
- 19:16like there's a wide gap right yeah colton
- 19:20was there and chris they were on a
- 19:22team emily was there but sam p technically
- 19:25the number of people in the field
- 19:27shouldn't matter because it's your score
- 19:30on a chart
- 19:31But it's also the very first time they're
- 19:34making the chart.
- 19:36Yeah,
- 19:36but he has said that they are not
- 19:38going to change it for – they don't
- 19:39want to change it for like twenty years.
- 19:41Yeah.
- 19:41That's the plan.
- 19:44Because if you change it,
- 19:45then the comparison goes away.
- 19:48Right.
- 19:50Yeah, the standard is the standard.
- 19:52So –
- 19:56I thought one had a great conversation
- 19:58with her, too.
- 19:59I thought they were valid points.
- 20:00And again,
- 20:01she was very constructive about it.
- 20:03It wasn't like hating on the event.
- 20:05She had a good time,
- 20:06said it was a fun competition,
- 20:08the whole bit.
- 20:10Yeah,
- 20:10Seve was saying this morning that he
- 20:11hasn't talked to anybody yet who's been
- 20:13there who had a negative thing to say
- 20:15about it.
- 20:18yeah i get the people i know that
- 20:19we've had a blast yeah constructive is one
- 20:21thing but just nobody's been like you
- 20:23sucked you stupid whatever like there's
- 20:26been none of that so good on them
- 20:28dude for the very first one you know
- 20:30everything seemed to go off without a
- 20:31hitch moving on to the next one speaking
- 20:35of special and feeling special you can
- 20:39feel special after a good night's sleep
- 20:42When you're good and recovered and not
- 20:45that melatonin hangover,
- 20:46like a special good night's sleep, right?
- 20:49If you go to thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy,
- 20:54get fifteen percent off your order.
- 20:57That is promo code Jazzy at checkout.
- 20:59Fifteen percent off your order.
- 21:03And.
- 21:06It's third party tested, you know,
- 21:08you're clean.
- 21:10So good night's sleep, clean, conscious,
- 21:15all that stuff.
- 21:16Good.
- 21:16All of the things.
- 21:20Um, uh,
- 21:27it annoys me that there are pure strength
- 21:29events all the time,
- 21:30but pure endurance or pure gymnastics gets
- 21:33aggressively criticized.
- 21:37that's a he's not wrong he's not he's
- 21:40not wrong and uh oh here we go
- 21:43larry young's about to throw some stuff in
- 21:45there but like
- 21:47I like the fact that there was at
- 21:50Xenon,
- 21:50the one minute max echo by calories.
- 21:53Cause it's not something you see every day
- 21:56and it is incredibly difficult to do.
- 21:59And it doesn't necessarily, you know,
- 22:02you need to be big.
- 22:03You need to be strong to be able
- 22:05to put a good score up,
- 22:05but I could also put a decent score
- 22:07up for my size and for my age,
- 22:11because I train on that thing all the
- 22:13damn time.
- 22:14We don't have a C two bikes.
- 22:15So anytime we have something that Brandon
- 22:16programs with the bike,
- 22:18I am converting calories over to the, uh,
- 22:20to the echo.
- 22:21So like I can hold pretty high RPMs
- 22:23for a pretty long amount of time.
- 22:29I like that.
- 22:30I think the thirty ring muscle ups for
- 22:31time at the twenty eighteen games.
- 22:33I enjoyed the shit out of that because
- 22:34that's another completely specialized test
- 22:38and it needs to be tested.
- 22:40If you're going to test,
- 22:41if you're going to have a one rep
- 22:42max,
- 22:42you're going to have the not even a
- 22:43one rep max scratch that the total you're
- 22:47going to have the CrossFit total,
- 22:49which is literally three power lifting
- 22:52event.
- 22:52Right.
- 22:54Then, yeah.
- 22:55Why not have to balance that out?
- 22:57We're also going to do thirty ring muscle
- 22:58ups for time.
- 23:00And if you want to throw something else
- 23:01in there,
- 23:02they should have did just a straight run.
- 23:06I don't think there's any criticism with
- 23:08Xenon and the balanced test.
- 23:10No,
- 23:11I think it's the balanced scoring that her
- 23:15comment was made about, right?
- 23:16Yeah, absolutely.
- 23:17There is a little bit of everything in
- 23:19this Xenon.
- 23:21Um,
- 23:24Her point was Abby won two weightlifting
- 23:26events.
- 23:27Right.
- 23:28And wins the overall thing.
- 23:30She wins five of the other events.
- 23:33Which is half of them.
- 23:34Yeah.
- 23:37If you won half the events at the
- 23:39CrossFit Games,
- 23:40you would win the CrossFit Games.
- 23:43If you took first place at half of
- 23:46the events...
- 23:48last year not even this year with the
- 23:49twenty last year if you won half of
- 23:52the ten you are going to win the
- 23:55games period true so that's where that's i
- 23:59think that's what that that's how she's
- 24:00looking at and i don't think she's wrong
- 24:02so lito go back and look at the
- 24:04scores i'm not trying to like look how
- 24:09bad emily beat other people in some of
- 24:12the events
- 24:14And then compare it to how bad Abby
- 24:16beat other people in the weightlifting
- 24:18events.
- 24:20I think that it doesn't make sense.
- 24:24But in all fairness,
- 24:27we have one data point.
- 24:29Yeah.
- 24:30We have one data point.
- 24:33And once more of these come along,
- 24:36I think we'll be able to see if
- 24:38there truly is a gap by winning those
- 24:41two that Abby won.
- 24:45Yeah, let's see what happens in London.
- 24:46Let's see what happens down the road a
- 24:48little bit.
- 24:49We have one event, one weekend.
- 24:51Because in some of those wins that Emily
- 24:54had, she won by a pretty big margin.
- 24:58Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 25:10So again, Vicky, it's not about placing.
- 25:13It's about where you plot out on the
- 25:15chart.
- 25:17Other people's results mean nothing to you
- 25:19and your score.
- 25:21No.
- 25:22The people I know that did it would
- 25:24one percent like to do it again.
- 25:26I mean, even.
- 25:26Yeah,
- 25:30everybody I talk to would like to do
- 25:31it again if another no,
- 25:33no other reason than to see if they
- 25:34can beat their previous scores.
- 25:36Which is the most CrossFit thing you can
- 25:38possibly imagine.
- 25:39I just want to beat my score,
- 25:40my old score.
- 25:42So I think that's pretty cool.
- 25:47So yeah, the scoring is on.
- 25:50If you did it by yourself,
- 25:52the scoring would be the same as if
- 25:55you did it in a group of ten
- 25:56people because it's only based on your
- 25:59finish time or finish weight or finish
- 26:02whatever from each event.
- 26:04And then they go over to a spreadsheet
- 26:06and they go, okay,
- 26:08two fifteen snatch equals six hundred
- 26:12points yep a three fifty eight in this
- 26:17equals seven hundred and twenty two points
- 26:23so you know
- 26:28What's stopping you from doing it at home?
- 26:30Just the Rhino?
- 26:31You can buy a Rhino.
- 26:33Twelve hundred dollars.
- 26:34You buy a Rhino from Rogue.
- 26:36Twelve hundred dollars and twelve hundred
- 26:38dollars to ship.
- 26:39C-two?
- 26:40Is it C-two?
- 26:40That's a C-two deal, isn't it?
- 26:43Or is it Rogue?
- 26:44I don't remember.
- 26:45It's Rogue.
- 26:46It's Rogue.
- 26:46Yeah.
- 26:47Go get one from Rogue.
- 26:48Three ships free.
- 26:52yeah buy a rhino and two ten pound
- 26:55dumbbells just yeah hundred percent free
- 26:58ships free baby yeah rogue is a major
- 27:02sponsor of xenon they created this
- 27:04supposedly just for xenon it looked cool
- 27:12um
- 27:14From what I understand,
- 27:15if you are proficient or enjoy or however
- 27:19you want to look at that, deadlifts,
- 27:20then you probably did pretty good on it.
- 27:22And if not, but they said it's multi-use.
- 27:24You can deadlift.
- 27:27You can belt squat.
- 27:28You can do a multitude of things on
- 27:30it,
- 27:31not just what they used it for over
- 27:33the weekend.
- 27:34Larry Young's waiting on his out by where
- 27:37FedEx delivers.
- 27:42I wonder if they can fit it in
- 27:43that little envelope.
- 27:46You got to send in parts if you're
- 27:47going to do it like that.
- 27:48Some assembly required.
- 27:50You get the nuts and screws on day
- 27:52one.
- 27:54Larry Young's a big old boy.
- 27:56He can handle it.
- 27:57If it comes in several different pieces,
- 27:59if it comes in all at once,
- 28:01I'm pretty sure he can handle it.
- 28:02That dude is large.
- 28:05He got a mitt on him.
- 28:07It swallowed my hand when we shook hands.
- 28:08It was crazy.
- 28:12Jason Bourne called that event and it was
- 28:15crazy the different muscles that athletes
- 28:17were feeling after it.
- 28:19I loved Adam Klink's description of it
- 28:21last night on WODprep.
- 28:24He said that him and Jake Douglas figured
- 28:27out
- 28:28kind of the formula.
- 28:30And his call for that was,
- 28:33which was interesting,
- 28:34it needs to be standardized because it's
- 28:37speed over distance.
- 28:39And the shorter you make the distance,
- 28:42the faster you can go.
- 28:46And so he actually said to Katie that
- 28:50you need to standardize this in a way
- 28:53that prevents people from gaming it.
- 28:57Good news is if they told that to
- 28:58Katie, she's actually going to listen.
- 29:02Well, I think Wilson Park will listen.
- 29:03I think those organizers will listen.
- 29:09They're not stupid people,
- 29:10and they know what side of their bread
- 29:14their butter is on.
- 29:19Avera says,
- 29:19I'll do a Xenon if Lito agrees to
- 29:22do it with me as a mixed pair.
- 29:23Lito, before you answer,
- 29:24you are not used to finishing last,
- 29:26so it will be a new experience for
- 29:28you for sure.
- 29:32Basically, Avera was like,
- 29:33I'm going to do it with Lito,
- 29:34but Lito needs to drag us across the
- 29:36finish line.
- 29:41Again, Wayne,
- 29:42the placings don't matter on the scoring.
- 29:47It's not typical CrossFit.
- 29:50It has nothing to do with the final
- 29:51score.
- 29:59Zenom is the most talked about event
- 30:01today.
- 30:01The event was amazing.
- 30:02It's the most talked about because it's
- 30:04what just happened.
- 30:06Yeah, it was literally three days ago.
- 30:08I think that the feedback has been amazing
- 30:11and I think the feedback is good.
- 30:13But I do...
- 30:16want to see where they go from here
- 30:18yeah i'm curious i truly am and they're
- 30:22going to build up a more of a
- 30:24database as they go so like you can
- 30:26have more scores in there and more scores
- 30:28in there more scores in there it's going
- 30:30to be it's going to be pretty cool
- 30:36uh they do know how to not to
- 30:37pre-butter their bread before they toast
- 30:39it
- 30:41Unless your name is David Justin.
- 30:42He sent me a video of him buttering
- 30:44his bread and then putting it in the
- 30:46toaster.
- 30:46Because he wanted to live on the edge.
- 30:48He sent me the same video.
- 30:53Look what we created.
- 30:54We created a world where people are now
- 30:57trying to pre-butter their bread before
- 31:00they toast it.
- 31:06It's an aggregate score.
- 31:07How does the placing not count?
- 31:09Your score is not based.
- 31:10You could finish dead last,
- 31:12but if you get a score high enough,
- 31:14you could still score nine hundred points.
- 31:20There is a chart for finishing times that
- 31:24you look at and that's what you get
- 31:27your score.
- 31:31There's truly no correlation between place
- 31:33of finish and scoring other than just the
- 31:38natural assumption that the people going
- 31:40faster than you would be ahead of you
- 31:42on the leaderboard.
- 31:43Their score would be higher,
- 31:45but the difference between the scores has
- 31:47nothing to do with where you placed.
- 31:50Oh, it's weird.
- 31:52It's, I mean, I say it's weird.
- 31:53It's different.
- 31:55It is much more individual and
- 31:59or she much more community focused and
- 32:01it's hey bro you it's you against you
- 32:10uh did david johnson butter sourdough uh i
- 32:15put it like this it didn't look like
- 32:17store-bought it was not wonder bread no it
- 32:20wasn't it did not look like it was
- 32:24the best thing since sliced bread sliced
- 32:25bread
- 32:29uh larry young the best thing about xenon
- 32:32is you know what you're training for
- 32:34either you're willing to put into work or
- 32:35not ten events baby what's your max snatch
- 32:41what's your max calories on the echo bike
- 32:44how fast can you do these other things
- 32:47one i don't believe it was guessed there
- 32:49was a lot of research as to what
- 32:51they did a whole bunch of math what
- 32:54and they tested and they tested and they
- 32:56tested yeah so it's not a guess but
- 33:00you that owner said on several podcasts
- 33:03they if they change the score it defeats
- 33:06the purpose of what they're trying to
- 33:09accomplish accomplish yeah
- 33:16Daniel Arnson giving nine ninety nine to
- 33:19the girls cause of going to the games.
- 33:22And we forgot to mention that at the
- 33:24top all weekend, all week long.
- 33:27We are taking super chat donations for
- 33:31Carolyn and Jamie to get to the CrossFit
- 33:34Games.
- 33:36And one hundred percent of what you donate
- 33:38will go to them.
- 33:40I am taking I am paying whatever YouTube
- 33:42takes out of it.
- 33:44I am paying to them.
- 33:46So they will get one hundred percent of
- 33:49the donations that come into the chat.
- 33:52I texted Jamie yesterday and I said,
- 33:54you missed a huge opportunity to charge a
- 33:56dollar ninety nine per flex.
- 33:58She was like, yeah, I realized that later.
- 34:00Maybe we'll do that Sunday night.
- 34:03I said if anybody would ever ask me
- 34:05to flex,
- 34:06I would take all of my donations and
- 34:07give it to you.
- 34:09I'm not going to the games this year.
- 34:13If by some wild chance somebody asks for
- 34:16that this week, I got you.
- 34:20Daniel does have a condition for Jamie.
- 34:22She only gets her cut if she says
- 34:23go blue.
- 34:24Not going to happen.
- 34:25It's going to be a cold day in
- 34:27hell.
- 34:28Not going to happen.
- 34:32uh let me answer this earlier uh who
- 34:35was it vicky i think was asking see
- 34:38if i can find it right quick oh
- 34:45yeah equipment question if you had to
- 34:46choose between buying a ski or a runner
- 34:48for your home gym what would you get
- 34:50or you got an echo bike and a
- 34:51rower um i would probably get a skier
- 34:55because outside is free and i live in
- 34:57south louisiana
- 34:58You were in Tennessee.
- 34:59I don't know if it snows where you
- 35:01are.
- 35:01So wintertime might be a question or if
- 35:04you live on a hill or anything like
- 35:05that.
- 35:05But outside is free as far as running
- 35:08is concerned.
- 35:08I wish we had a runner like at
- 35:10the gym just because it's a whole lot
- 35:13easier to just do your run, get off,
- 35:15do whatever you got to do,
- 35:16jump right on the runner instead of having
- 35:17to go back outside,
- 35:19come to your barbell all the way in
- 35:20the back.
- 35:20But for the house,
- 35:22I don't think I need a runner.
- 35:23I think I would rather have a skier.
- 35:27Let me answer that question for you,
- 35:28Vicky.
- 35:29If someone's buying it for me,
- 35:31I go with the runner.
- 35:33Yeah.
- 35:33Because... A huge price difference.
- 35:35Because I can easily afford a ski erg.
- 35:37Yeah.
- 35:39I cannot easily afford a runner.
- 35:41It's like three times the price.
- 35:43If Santa Claus has come to Vicky's house
- 35:45and said, you get one piece of equipment,
- 35:48pick it, go with the runner.
- 35:50Yeah.
- 35:54Um...
- 35:56Or something else here.
- 35:57I better be careful, Corey.
- 35:58You never know what people ask you to
- 36:00do for donations.
- 36:02Never underestimate the levels I was
- 36:06stooped to to help my friends that winter.
- 36:12Just saying.
- 36:13Gosh, Corey,
- 36:14the skier gets so damn boring.
- 36:16It's boring,
- 36:16but it's an effective training tool.
- 36:19I skied this morning.
- 36:20I don't want to see it at the
- 36:21games.
- 36:22I skied this morning.
- 36:23As a matter of fact,
- 36:23I'm going back and skiing again this
- 36:25afternoon.
- 36:27It'll work your core,
- 36:29which you don't realize until after you
- 36:30get done,
- 36:31but my abs will be hurting if I
- 36:34do a serious ski piece.
- 36:38Yeah, I agree.
- 36:43Speaking of things you see at the games,
- 36:46I've gotten a lot of engagement on a
- 36:47post I made on Instagram yesterday about
- 36:50my plan to go with ten athletes at
- 36:52the CrossFit Games.
- 36:54I would say a lot is kind of
- 36:56a...
- 37:00That's a, that's a misnomer.
- 37:00You got a way more than a lot.
- 37:04What I, here's the thing that I'm not,
- 37:07I'm not like sold a hundred percent on
- 37:09this plan that I'm throwing out,
- 37:12but the data is telling us that less
- 37:14people are attending the games,
- 37:16less people are signing up for the open,
- 37:19less people are watching online.
- 37:23right yeah we got to do something because
- 37:27the definition of insanity is to keep
- 37:29doing the same thing over and over and
- 37:31over again and expecting a different
- 37:33result and there are a lot of factors
- 37:37and i'm well aware of them getting rid
- 37:40of this the festival atmosphere at in
- 37:43madison was a huge mistake upping the
- 37:46ticket price for the games huge mistake
- 37:50Having a season where everybody is
- 37:53touchy-feely, hey,
- 37:54let's make everybody have eighteen
- 37:56opportunities to make the games is...
- 37:58It's a bad idea.
- 38:01It's a bad idea, right?
- 38:04If I was to go with the ten
- 38:06per,
- 38:08the rest of the season would have to
- 38:10be meaningful and have as much excitement
- 38:15getting there as the ten people seen do
- 38:18the events at the games.
- 38:23Yeah,
- 38:23I think we touched on that not to
- 38:25be stripped back and changed and modified.
- 38:31I feel like we touched on that whenever
- 38:32we talked about it the other day,
- 38:33like you would,
- 38:34there's no way you couldn't do the current
- 38:37season and have it in with ten people.
- 38:41No, no, no, no, no.
- 38:42It's not going to happen.
- 38:45And I think we touched on that,
- 38:46but I think people can't get a hold
- 38:47of sound bites.
- 38:49And they just assumed that we meant,
- 38:51oh yeah, no,
- 38:51we're still going to have the exact same
- 38:53thing that we're going on now,
- 38:54but we're just going to go with ten
- 38:55instead of thirty.
- 38:57It's not what we said.
- 38:59Not what Scott said.
- 39:01No, you have to overhaul it all.
- 39:03Yes.
- 39:04All of it has to be overhauled.
- 39:11And having it in one of the most
- 39:12expensive cities.
- 39:13Big mistake.
- 39:14Yes.
- 39:14A hundred percent.
- 39:18Not even cities, states.
- 39:20California is expensive in general.
- 39:25Avera, Scott,
- 39:25were the seats ever empty in Madison?
- 39:27I do not think so.
- 39:28Go back to Madison.
- 39:29Yes, they were.
- 39:31But towards the end, they were not.
- 39:35This is the problem.
- 39:36Madison is expensive.
- 39:38It is an old,
- 39:39antiquated venue that takes a week of
- 39:43setup to get ready.
- 39:46You had to build the outdoor venue and
- 39:51tear it down after.
- 39:54It was a great idea.
- 39:56But just because I am sure you could
- 39:59find something in another city that you
- 40:01could do the same thing and wouldn't have
- 40:03to do all that.
- 40:08Right?
- 40:08Like, it's doable.
- 40:11You go to Columbus...
- 40:14They have a baseball stadium,
- 40:16they have a hockey arena,
- 40:18and they have a soccer field literally in
- 40:21two blocks.
- 40:26And I'm not saying come to Columbus
- 40:27because maybe it's not the best or ideal
- 40:29situation either, but if Columbus has it,
- 40:32other cities have the same thing.
- 40:36Right?
- 40:37Seattle.
- 40:38Seattle.
- 40:41I've been, I've been to the,
- 40:42whatever the name of the Marlins arena is.
- 40:44You can see the football stadium from it.
- 40:46Yeah.
- 40:46Like it's literally right there.
- 40:48As we were walking up,
- 40:50there's lots of places like that is,
- 40:52is what the point is that you could
- 40:55easily do stuff like host the games and
- 40:58have it be more cost effective where you,
- 41:01you don't feel like you need to sell
- 41:03tickets for whatever they're going for.
- 41:05I know,
- 41:05I know that are absolutely ridiculous.
- 41:09Daniel Arnson,
- 41:10I think I've said a ton of times
- 41:11that he is a smart individual.
- 41:15He likes my idea because it's better,
- 41:17concise, more drama.
- 41:19Getting to the games in every event
- 41:20matters more.
- 41:23Bingo, bango.
- 41:27And I will admit that Madison was the
- 41:29height of sports popularity,
- 41:32but we are not there anymore.
- 41:33We have far less affiliates even.
- 41:39I like Columbus too little Larry Young to
- 41:45the hopefully Xenon takes off same ten
- 41:48people mid go girls it wouldn't be the
- 41:54same ten people no you look at the
- 41:58men's field this year I swear I said
- 42:00this Sunday night it will be the smallest
- 42:03margin of points between first and tenth
- 42:06we've ever seen at the games
- 42:11It's gonna be a dogfighting.
- 42:12Twenty events.
- 42:18When do you get on the payroll?
- 42:19When I do.
- 42:24Same time you start sending me checks
- 42:25there, Scott.
- 42:26Daniel, don't even worry about it.
- 42:31That's good.
- 42:33Unrelated,
- 42:33did you guys see that Erica Follow is
- 42:35with HWPO?
- 42:36I heard that rumor.
- 42:37I've tried to figure it out.
- 42:39I have not seen that winter.
- 42:41Everything I see shows she's still with
- 42:43Misfit.
- 42:46So unless something popped in the last day
- 42:48or so...
- 42:52I had not heard that at all.
- 42:56Not that I keep up with Erica Follow
- 42:57that much, but...
- 42:59I don't see her being a HWPO athlete
- 43:01unless she was going there specifically
- 43:03for Justin.
- 43:07Yeah, Kyler.
- 43:10Oh,
- 43:11HWPO posted their athlete roster today.
- 43:13I'll check it out.
- 43:14I've already said I said this yesterday,
- 43:16but the fact that Bruce is not talking
- 43:17about the game so much tells me he
- 43:19will have a lot to say after they
- 43:20are done and a lot of changes are
- 43:22coming.
- 43:23But he did help move the hopper.
- 43:28And he did talk about the games in
- 43:29his two-brain speech.
- 43:31He did.
- 43:32I don't think he has a lot to
- 43:35say about the games because he's not
- 43:36necessarily involved with the games other
- 43:38than being CEO at this point.
- 43:42He just got there.
- 43:43Everything has already been put in place
- 43:45and in motion before he ever got there.
- 43:48I hate to be this way,
- 43:49but I have a meeting in one minute.
- 43:51So we are going to go real quick
- 43:54right now.
- 43:55Bye, guys.
- 43:56Like and subscribe.
- 43:56I wouldn't wait to get to the editing
- 43:58room to jazz me up.
- 44:00I'm already jazzy.
