- 0:00Welcome back. Here are the six quick questions. Question number one, what is your why? Why are you doing what you're doing?
- 0:18I would say my why is definitely because I just want to live a life that I wake up to and I'm excited every morning. Like genuinely. That's everyone's dream, right? But that is literally why I'm doing it because it's my passion and I just love it. I just want to be excited every day.
- 0:39Oh my gosh, I love that. Yeah, if you don't love the journey and you're not loving the day-to-day, you've lost. You've definitely lost. Yeah, yeah. Question number two is what's been your favorite marketing moment so far? Is that with SLA or just in general?
- 0:57With SLA, like, you know, maybe an influencer wearing a piece of the product or a specific customer review or just something or a campaign, something like that. Oh, that's an easy, easy, easy answer.
- 1:10So Nicole Scherzinger wore SLA. She was the first big celebrity to wear it. And I was like, my inner pussycat doll was screaming. That is stupid. Inner pussycat doll, like I'm in the band. My inner pussycat doll fan, I should say. There I am. I think I am one. I'm like, oh my God, yeah, me. Yeah.
- 1:31Yeah, crazy. Oh my gosh, that's so exciting. Did you know she was going to wear it or you woke up one day and she's wearing it and you're like, what the heck? No. So we have a PR agency in America who are amazing and the stylist came in clearly and picked the suit up and my PR messaged me in the morning was like, Nicole's wearing a suit and I was like, oh my God, it's wild. That's so cool. Amazing. Question number three is what's your go-to business resource when it comes to a podcast, a newsletter or a book? Yeah.
- 2:00Oh, definitely podcasts. I feel like, oh, I have quite a few, but I do love the more sort of, I'm all for a business, business podcast, but I love these sort of style ones where you get like, it's a bit more just relaxed and chatty, you know? But because I feel like you learn more. So I do love podcasts. I would try and say I was into like books and, you know, articles online, but it's just not me. I don't, I also don't even have the time to sit down, whereas a podcast I can put it in and like walk around while doing things. So podcasts are just amazing.
- 2:30100%. Speaking my language. Question number four is how do you win the day? What are your like AM or PM rituals and habits that keep you feeling happy and successful and motivated?
- 2:44Do you know what, for me, I actually think to win the day, it's my to-do list and doing it. I never try and make them too unattainable because I want to be able to do it. And I think that's really important. So just that sensation of ticking something off and feeling like you've accomplished it, I think is important because you can get so bogged down when you have a business. And I think writing those little things down on a to-do list makes me feel like I'm like, yeah, I've done something today and I can go to sleep happy, you know?
- 3:14Yeah, kicking your goals. You're taking everything off the list. Yeah. I feel the same. Yeah. Question number five is what has been your worst money mistake? Well, I mean, it's got to be the swimwear, hasn't it? It's got to be. I feel like although potentially it is, as I said, launching those items that are too boring and we've just wasted money because they just haven't sold. So, yeah, it's just there's been a few, but it's just products that have just gone so wrong really.
- 3:44Because not everything works. If anyone says it does, I feel like they're lying because it doesn't. When you think about like the swimwear, just side question here, how much do you think that costs you if you had to put a dollar figure to it? I think it cost me 34,000 US dollars. Yeah, that stings. That's really shit. So it was like, yeah, and we probably only made like 12 bucks.
- 4:13grand ish but then obviously remember we had the shipping cost on top of that so it was probably about 40 something and then we only made 12 grand so it was like you know yeah gosh crazy yeah and last question question number six is just what's a crazy story that you can share from the journey of building this business good bad or anything in between
- 4:38Oh, I'm trying to think. I feel like there's so many. I don't know. I'm not sure how crazy they are, but...
- 4:44I suppose for us, like it's not even crazy, but I would just say how many logistics centers we've been through since we've launched, which to me is crazy because we have literally been through so many. And I think outgrowing your logistics center, if anyone's done it, will understand why I think that is crazy, because moving logistics centers is crazy. So I would say, yeah, just trying to get your logistics and your infrastructure behind the scenes in place is super important, because otherwise...
- 5:11it will end up being a crazy story. That's a whole other podcast if I went into that, so I won't. But just, yeah. How many have you been through? So we're on our fourth now in less than three years, and it's, yeah, wild. Yeah, that sounds like a lot. Damn. It's not fun. Not fun. Hate that for you. Hate the logistics. Yeah.
- 5:33Sarah, this was so much fun. Thank you so much for taking the time to come on the show and share your story. I'm so excited for you for next week. Good luck with your event. Thank you. And I'm going to give you my eyes out for the swimwear. Thank you so much for having me. I've really enjoyed talking about it. I'm an SLA because it's my baby. I'm so excited.
