[SPEAKER_02]: Today I'm going to be talking with both Sasha Kai and Catalina San Dino Moreno.
• 1:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Sasha you will of course know she played Supergirl in the flash you saw her in the young and the restless and then we've got Catalina San Dino Moreno who broke through in 2004 with Maria full of grace.
• 2:07
[SPEAKER_02]: More recently you've seen her in the series from as well as
• 2:14
[SPEAKER_02]: both of them return in the rip on Netflix, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, a movie that I guess you could say is about one very uneasy stash house.
• 2:28
[SPEAKER_02]: The two are going to talk about the crime thriller that's really less about the shootouts than the slow psychological squeeze.
• 2:35
[SPEAKER_02]: of not knowing who to trust.
• 2:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, later on, when I talk with Catalina, she's going to reflect on returning to morally complex material after movies like Maria Full of Grace.
• 2:46
[SPEAKER_02]: What it's like sharing scenes with Ben Affleck and Mad Damon, and why this run of action-heavy roles, makes a surprisingly fun new chapter in her career.
• 2:55
[SPEAKER_02]: But we're going to start with my conversation with Sasha Kaye,
• 2:58
[SPEAKER_02]: She digs into playing this character, Desi, the film's human wild card, balancing stillness with intensity, delivering a pivotal monologue, and how we're so popper back ground, prepared her for pressure cooker moments.
• 3:12
[SPEAKER_02]: So let's get into this as we discuss the rip out now, unnetflix.
• 3:18
[SPEAKER_02]: It's Kyle Meredith, part one of this conversation with Sasha Gaia.
• 3:22
  [SPEAKER_04]: Hi, how are you?
• 3:23
  [SPEAKER_04]: Congratulations.
• 3:24
  [SPEAKER_04]: You on the rip?
• 3:25
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much.
• 3:26
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
• 3:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I think, I mean, everybody degrades, I love everybody's character, but I was just thinking before we jumped on here how I think Desi might be my favorite character.
• 3:36
  [SPEAKER_04]: That's so sweet.
• 3:37
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much.
• 3:38
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
• 3:38
  [SPEAKER_04]: I meet a lot.
• 3:39
[SPEAKER_04]: Standing next to some greats.
• 3:41
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm standing next to some really incredible people in this film.
• 3:45
[SPEAKER_02]: She gets to be like, like, there's sort of an invisible villain through a lot of the movie, but I think it kind of gets to be the closest we have to the obstacle in the way for a lot
• 3:57
[SPEAKER_04]: like she's not the villain or or is she you know it's always the question right but like how do you put a play her you know i think when we got the script when i got the script it's it's just such an entertaining story you you kind of the way that we see it in the movie is the way that you read it on the paper and you don't know
• 4:15
[SPEAKER_04]: who did it or who, you know, you just don't know.
• 4:18
[SPEAKER_04]: It is a real, who done it situation.
• 4:20
[SPEAKER_04]: And when I started reading the script and I knew that I was following Desi storyline, I didn't know whether she was guilty or not.
• 4:26
  [SPEAKER_04]: I really didn't.
• 4:27
[SPEAKER_04]: The way that we saw the movie, that is exactly how it felt on the paper.
• 4:31
[SPEAKER_04]: And it's, it was a joy and a blast to read.
• 4:35
[SPEAKER_04]: I think that Joe Carnahan has that skill when he writes scripts that they're just so entertaining and so,
• 4:40
  [SPEAKER_04]: and throttling.
• 4:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's got such a mood to it.
• 4:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I kept coming back to the world word cerebral, which is not something you get with a lot of action movies, but so much of this, you know, so much takes place in the house, right?
• 4:53
[SPEAKER_02]: And just the psychological parts of everybody, like how long were you in that house?
• 5:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Because most of your stuff happens right there, right?
• 5:02
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, most of it, I mean, I couldn't tell you it's kind of, you know, I couldn't tell you how much, but I, yes, I was handcuffed to the chair for most of my time in the movie.
• 5:14
[SPEAKER_04]: And it was also a challenge, you know, I think somebody who was very, who likes to move their body, who loves sons, who likes to be a part of the, of the, of the fun, you know, I had to kind of just sit there.
• 5:29
[SPEAKER_04]: There's a lot of great things that you find with just sitting there as well and trusting your director, and trusting the writing, and trusting that the character is used, and specifically that is needed for everyone else, and seeing the film afterwards, and watching Desi grow, and seeing how it propels the other characters, and how the other characters prop...
• 5:48
[SPEAKER_04]: It's just such a beautiful dance, I think, between all of us.
• 5:52
[SPEAKER_04]: It really is a true ensemble cast with the most incredible leaders in my embed.
• 5:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, do you have to go like in your process?
• 6:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Did you have to go someplace different for a role like this?
• 6:05
  [SPEAKER_04]: No, not really.
• 6:06
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I found a lot of ease and does the I suppose.
• 6:09
[SPEAKER_04]: There was, she was a made-up character, most of the characters in the cops.
• 6:15
  [SPEAKER_04]: I believe were, there,
• 6:19
[SPEAKER_04]: It is based on a true story, and the cops were also based on true people and true team of people, especially Chris Cassiano, who was the boss that I got to connect with, and I just adore him.
• 6:32
[SPEAKER_04]: He just loved to be around, and they blessed everyone, even me, who is not a cop, you know, with the knowledge, and there was them.
• 6:42
[SPEAKER_04]: of what they do every day, it's dangerous job.
• 6:44
[SPEAKER_04]: I actually don't even know what you asked me, but we got into a great space here.
• 6:49
  [SPEAKER_04]: I just don't know.
• 6:51
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I actually like where you're going, because I didn't know that you all actually met the real pool.
• 6:56
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
• 6:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Was that something that was given to you all, or did you seek that out?
• 6:59
[SPEAKER_04]: No, I think Jo Karnahan really wants there to be truth in this film and you also get to hire you hire Joe is a very intentional director I feel and he hired very specifically who he wanted in these roles and so the actors that were hired truly care about the truth and the reality of of their characters and the story and you can see everybody's mind
• 7:28
[SPEAKER_04]: racing and asking the right questions.
• 7:30
[SPEAKER_04]: And how do we hold this gun?
• 7:32
[SPEAKER_04]: How do we do this?
• 7:33
[SPEAKER_04]: And Joe, and I was, you know, graceful enough to give everybody the opportunity to have that close relationship and him and Chris Kasiano have also had a very close close relationship.
• 7:44
[SPEAKER_04]: And I'm just so lucky, because I, you know, I'm not a cop, so that training wouldn't have been given to me.
• 7:50
  [SPEAKER_04]: But I did
• 7:54
[SPEAKER_04]: And that to me as an actor is one of one of the most important things for me in this job is to be able to become a sponge in an environment and learn from everyone.
• 8:06
[SPEAKER_04]: And I really, really did and especially
• 8:17
[SPEAKER_04]: incredible opportunity to have seen.
• 8:19
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I as Sasha had this incredible opportunity to act with every single character in this, in this movie and to me that was so much fun and so exciting and a true blessing to be surrounded by great actors and overall great people.
• 8:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, two of those actors of course, would bring up and have like met Damon, being you going head
• 8:44
[SPEAKER_02]: like what's that experience like like the day of those shootings?
• 8:48
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 8:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Are you nervous about that?
• 8:49
  [SPEAKER_02]: Is it heightened?
• 8:51
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm only really nervous if I'm unprepared in any general aspect of my life and my career.
• 8:57
[SPEAKER_04]: If I find that I am unprepared or confused, I think that there was clarity in the monologue.
• 9:03
[SPEAKER_04]: And if there wasn't any clarity in general in the movie, there's a safe space within Ben
• 9:12
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, Ben and Matt create an incredible safe space to work in, truly, and I felt so safe.
• 9:20
[SPEAKER_04]: And sometimes when I'm working, I mean, I guess most of the time, I don't really remember things.
• 9:24
[SPEAKER_04]: It just all kind of speeds by you.
• 9:27
[SPEAKER_04]: And I don't remember specifics or how many times.
• 9:30
[SPEAKER_04]: But I just did an interview where they asked how many takes that scene took.
• 9:34
[SPEAKER_04]: And Katalina was like, you guys did that fast.
• 9:37
[SPEAKER_04]: There was not that many takes that you did.
• 9:39
[SPEAKER_04]: You ran right through it, and so hearing that too is like, you know, yeah, they just created such an awesome space and Ben also improvise some stuff and within that improvisation he gave me the safety to also throw it in there You know, and they kept some of those lines of improv and that was it was epic
• 10:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I hear about that every now and then, and I think about, you know, in music, that if you're, if somebody's writing a song and then you come in with a few lines, you know, is the whole line of a word for a third, like you get paid because you come to like to shame with the improv that like, oh, now you get a big percentage of the movie as well because, you know, you wrote some of your own, it's, uh, what had be great.
• 10:22
[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I mean, you know, I think it's just a blessing to be able to be given the opportunity to just play within the writing as well.
• 10:31
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, there's a honor that goes to wanting to make sure that the writer is really happy.
• 10:35
[SPEAKER_04]: But there's also this beautiful thing as an actor to honor the writing and honor the story and also be given the opportunity to be in the character and see what comes out of that,
• 10:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll be right back right up to this.
• 10:55
  [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome back.
• 10:55
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's Kyle.
• 10:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm here with Sasha Kaiye.
• 10:58
[SPEAKER_02]: If I get right, you have a soap background, right?
• 11:01
  [SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
• 11:01
  [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
• 11:02
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm in the rest of this.
• 11:03
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 11:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, does that, do you think that helps with things like that with monologues?
• 11:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Because, you know, we hear about, like, if you're going to work, you like, you have to, you've got to remember.
• 11:12
  [SPEAKER_02]: So easily.
• 11:13
[SPEAKER_04]: I will say, I am so out of practice.
• 11:16
[SPEAKER_04]: I, in terms of the big, uh,
• 11:19
  [SPEAKER_04]: big page or days.
• 11:20
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean my I think my I always say 45 because I think that my biggest day of memorization was 45 pages a night.
• 11:30
[SPEAKER_04]: Um, and it's a muscle really, I think you get in there and it just becomes your job and you have to do it.
• 11:37
[SPEAKER_04]: You have no other option and if you don't do it, you're going to look really bad in front of your castmates and your crew, and they will make you feel about pressure because we're on a clock.
• 11:49
[SPEAKER_04]: But I am so out of, I am so out of practice.
• 11:51
[SPEAKER_04]: It would be interesting to see if I could do it again.
• 11:53
  [SPEAKER_04]: But
• 11:54
[SPEAKER_04]: I adore that experience, I think that it's a whole life theater in a lot of ways.
• 12:02
[SPEAKER_04]: You have a multi-cam, you have maybe, you know, you aim to do it in one take.
• 12:07
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, at three, you hope you get it.
• 12:10
[SPEAKER_04]: And you know, it is a very, I've been reading a Melody Thomas, Melody Thomas Scott's books.
• 12:19
[SPEAKER_04]: her book that she released.
• 12:21
[SPEAKER_04]: She gave it to me and she signed it and I adore that woman.
• 12:23
[SPEAKER_04]: She's just an angel and welcomed me with her arms open and it was kind of like a quiet, deadly supporter.
• 12:36
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, really like walks with elegance and every time when I
• 12:44
[SPEAKER_04]: the biggest bouquet of flowers I'd ever seen in my life.
• 12:49
[SPEAKER_04]: And I hold that deer to my heart.
• 12:52
[SPEAKER_04]: And before I left for this press done kit, I was looking for a book and I grabbed that one and that is what I'm having my bag right now.
• 12:59
[SPEAKER_04]: And if I've been reading about her and all though,
• 13:02
[SPEAKER_04]: Soaps are very, you know, this and like dramatic, it's meant to be in that way and it is a whole art form in itself and the actors that are working on soap operas are working really hard.
• 13:17
[SPEAKER_04]: And it was a school in itself that prepared me for where I am right now and I'm really, really grateful for the experience that I have on the Young of the Restless and what I learned from my co-stars on that soap opera.
• 13:32
[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, I'm not kidding.
• 13:34
[SPEAKER_02]: You snapped into that for a second.
• 13:35
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's that turnin'.
• 13:37
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's a training.
• 13:38
[SPEAKER_04]: I remember when we did a, or when I filmed my entry, we made like, oh, didn't it?
• 13:46
[SPEAKER_04]: And you have to wear a dress and like, you have to like, I wore up a pantsuit.
• 13:50
[SPEAKER_04]: Like, you know, and I remember just like, I had very long hair and I just like, you have to like walk into it.
• 13:56
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's amazing when they first aired it.
• 13:58
[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, oh my god, um, it's like getting your first coma.
• 14:02
  [SPEAKER_04]: That was very exciting.
• 14:05
[SPEAKER_04]: One of the most difficult things I've had to do in my acting career.
• 14:09
[SPEAKER_04]: Sitting still, imagine, try it.
• 14:13
[SPEAKER_04]: I tell people I'm like, try sitting still while somebody is profusely sobbing, telling you to wake up and get out of the coma.
• 14:20
[SPEAKER_04]: It is a very hard job.
• 14:22
[SPEAKER_02]: That's one of the hallmarks.
• 14:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, have you got your coma yet?
• 14:25
  [SPEAKER_02]: It's coming.
• 14:25
  [SPEAKER_02]: You're on a soapbox coming.
• 14:27
[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, I got many, many fun things.
• 14:30
  [SPEAKER_04]: I got married.
• 14:31
  [SPEAKER_04]: I was in a coma.
• 14:33
[SPEAKER_04]: I had a food truck and then I had a Michelin star restaurant.
• 14:40
[SPEAKER_04]: we we had all the things and now you're in the crime world and by the way didn't I see like lips like sugar right that's the other one like you're in the crime world yes we call in feral yes which i understand of man you know really really amazing actor incredible career just like uh been in mat and uh so much fun to work with him on that as well
• 14:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Also a good echo in the body men, so I'm one of the best, actually, lips like sugar and what yeah in your musician, right?
• 15:06
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
• 15:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Like is there like are you going to be playing that side of your career?
• 15:12
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
• 15:12
  [SPEAKER_04]: I've been trying.
• 15:14
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm trying really hard to give myself a deadline every year.
• 15:16
[SPEAKER_04]: I'm like next year, next year, next year.
• 15:19
[SPEAKER_04]: And I think, you know, it comes down to, gosh, I got a let go of my perfectionism with music.
• 15:24
[SPEAKER_04]: It's because it's so personal that it feels harder to let go of, but day by day I've been working with my producer who's also my best friend and other producers and trying to kind of,
• 15:38
[SPEAKER_04]: Put it in a place that I at least I feel good with and I'm right now I'm scheduling the video shoots for it as well and shooting the promo for it and I'm really excited.
• 15:48
[SPEAKER_04]: But you know I have to be kind with myself because I care so deeply about it.
• 15:52
[SPEAKER_04]: Music is one of those things that's different from the acting world because you have to, you know, you put.
• 15:59
  [SPEAKER_04]: You put your life.
• 16:00
[SPEAKER_04]: It's like writing your own, you know, biopic or, you know, writing a story about yourself.
• 16:05
[SPEAKER_04]: That's what music is and not only does it go through and the writing, but it goes through in the music that you're putting behind, you know, in that track.
• 16:14
[SPEAKER_04]: And I just got to, I just got to let myself be afraid and make more, I got to make mistakes.
• 16:20
[SPEAKER_04]: You know, I got to let myself, I got to frame myself so I can enjoy my music and share it with other people.
• 16:26
  [SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to hear it.
• 16:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully we'll get to talk about that too one day.
• 16:28
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you.
• 16:30
[SPEAKER_02]: In the meantime, seriously, congratulations on this character, you said you're on the rip.
• 16:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's such a fun movie to watch.
• 16:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And you guys were, you knocked it out of the park.
• 16:37
[SPEAKER_02]: It's been a lot of fun talking to you about it.
• 16:39
  [SPEAKER_04]: Thank you so much.
• 16:40
  [SPEAKER_04]: I love the prince.
• 16:41
[SPEAKER_04]: Call my name is one of my favorites.
• 16:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I usually make people when they talk about it.
• 16:45
  [SPEAKER_02]: They got a name.
• 16:45
  [SPEAKER_02]: They're Prince David Bowie and R.A.M.
• 16:47
  [SPEAKER_02]: songs.
• 16:48
[SPEAKER_02]: But you already beat me to it.
• 16:49
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's called my name.
• 16:49
[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, that one, the performance video, oh god, I'm like every time.
• 16:53
  [SPEAKER_04]: It's such a good, it's such a simple song.
• 16:56
[SPEAKER_04]: But it is so beautiful.
• 16:58
[SPEAKER_04]: I sometimes when I get in my head about writing, I go and listen to that song because it's so simple and so beautiful and it's just one of those.
• 17:06
  [SPEAKER_04]: One of the legend.
• 17:08
  [SPEAKER_02]: Perfect.
• 17:08
  [SPEAKER_02]: Not sure.
• 17:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
• 17:09
  [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you so much.
• 17:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And my thanks to Sasha, as promised, let's pick up now with Part 2, Catalina San Dino Moreno.
• 17:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Among other things that we've already talked about, she'll tell us about Joe Carnahan, the director's high-energy set in the film's ensemble, chemistry, and why this movie really works best when it slows down and lets the paranoia breathe.
• 17:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Part 2 of the rip, it's Kyle Amirative with Catalina San Dino Moreno.
• 17:39
  [SPEAKER_03]: Hi, Kyle, are you?
• 17:40
  [SPEAKER_02]: Congrats on the rip.
• 17:42
[SPEAKER_02]: What about what a cool fun movie this one is.
• 17:44
[SPEAKER_03]: It made one very fun to make too.
• 17:47
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I know this is the whole story about this because it's it's a wild story, right?
• 17:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And it's I know it's sort of based on a true story as well.
• 17:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Like how important is that to you going into it?
• 17:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe like do you look back at whatever the true thing is does does does that help you?
• 18:02
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
• 18:03
[SPEAKER_03]: I love making movies out of real life because that is what touches your heart.
• 18:10
[SPEAKER_03]: When you open a script and you feel something, the script pulls you in and you feel, I mean, any sort of feeling, it's a good sign.
• 18:21
[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know, there's something about this movie that is not just, I mean,
• 18:32
  [SPEAKER_03]: It's just very human.
• 18:34
[SPEAKER_03]: My character is a single mother of two.
• 18:38
[SPEAKER_03]: She's not well paid in that job.
• 18:42
[SPEAKER_03]: She's risking her life every single day, and she's confronted with an incredible
• 18:48
[SPEAKER_03]: huge amount of money that could change her life and her daughter's life and her children's life.
• 18:54
[SPEAKER_03]: So I just feel that a lot of people can understand that feeling of, if I just take a chance, if I just do this, you know, temptation.
• 19:04
  [SPEAKER_03]: It's always there.
• 19:05
[SPEAKER_03]: It's very human to feel tempted by things.
• 19:09
[SPEAKER_03]: especially money and I really like that that side of the story.
• 19:14
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean like that's the core of the story aside from being like an action thriller movie.
• 19:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Somehow I just now noticed that big old stack of money there next to you that's yeah.
• 19:25
[SPEAKER_02]: But that is like what a moral conundrum that is placed in the movie that you guys get to play around with that whole time.
• 19:34
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 19:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And surely you had some conversations about what you would do in this situation.
• 19:39
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, of course.
• 19:40
[SPEAKER_03]: Especially, you're underpaid and you are asked to perform dangerous stuff every single day.
• 19:48
[SPEAKER_03]: And as a mother, I feel that it's even more intense.
• 19:54
[SPEAKER_03]: you want to take care of your life, but you want to take care of them.
• 19:58
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's a balance, you know, you're presented with this money, but you don't want to get killed by the mafia.
• 20:07
  [SPEAKER_03]: You know, so it's...
• 20:09
[SPEAKER_03]: You just have to be a good human and be like, you know, this is not my time, it's I'm going to let it go, but it's it's tough, it's that's what's interesting about this movie it's it's it deals with that dilemma of just risking it all and do the right moral thing to you know in that situation.
• 20:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, and I tell you one thing that I was really impressed after it was over, and I was able to look back on the movie.
• 20:34
[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, as you said, it's an action thriller, but so much of the movie could be defined as this cerebral talking type thing.
• 20:44
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you guys are in basically two rooms of this house.
• 20:49
  [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
• 20:49
[SPEAKER_02]: for a majority of the movie, I feel like, like, did you all talk about style and mood going into it?
• 20:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Because we do get some fun, gunplay and all of that stuff, but that's, you know, to me, the excitement is watching you all sort of the psychological part.
• 21:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and all the style and mood, I don't think that was my place to talk.
• 21:12
[SPEAKER_03]: I think Joe had very well-defined things.
• 21:17
[SPEAKER_03]: I remember him saying like specific colors for specific people, which I find it fascinating, because when you watch movies, you're not paying attention.
• 21:27
[SPEAKER_03]: colors or shots or anything.
• 21:31
[SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, this filmmakers, they do care about that and they're very specific and they're very, you know, they may that as an intention to build a character in just red or in just blue or, and I think he did that.
• 21:48
  [SPEAKER_03]: That's a question for Joe.
• 21:50
[SPEAKER_03]: I just feel that coming
• 21:55
[SPEAKER_03]: Joe, I don't know if you met him, but he's a very big guy and energetic.
• 22:01
  [SPEAKER_03]: He's full of life.
• 22:04
[SPEAKER_03]: He's happy all the time.
• 22:05
[SPEAKER_03]: He just, you just hear him like an enormous, beautiful laugh.
• 22:10
[SPEAKER_03]: And I feel that that is contagious.
• 22:13
[SPEAKER_03]: And you just go into that set knowing that it's going to be a high intensity, high energetic day because of how he manages.
• 22:26
[SPEAKER_03]: He said he puts music in between takes.
• 22:28
[SPEAKER_03]: He, I mean, like he's very relaxed, but when he's in it, he's in it and he's just, it's all in.
• 22:35
[SPEAKER_03]: It's, it's, I've never been on a set like this and it was fun.
• 22:38
  [SPEAKER_02]: That's saying something.
• 22:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, you've been in the business long enough to say that you're still finding a new experience like this.
• 22:44
  [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
• 22:45
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, completely.
• 22:46
[SPEAKER_03]: And especially, you know, working with with big actors like a huge actors like my Damon been off like you might think that they will have, you know, a method.
• 22:56
[SPEAKER_03]: that there would be like, you know, doing this thing, that because there's such wonderful actors and you watch their movies and they're so much hard to everything they do, but they're just normal people.
• 23:09
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they're just, they could be talking, I said it before, they go from 0 to 16 a very short time.
• 23:14
[SPEAKER_03]: There's so professionals and they've been doing this for so long, but they can go from 0 to 60 seamless and it's very interesting to see that because some actors, they need to take their time and they have their own little thing, but this guy is, it was just great to know that there's no one road for great acting.
• 23:39
[SPEAKER_03]: There's many and whatever fits you, it's okay for you, it's great for you.
• 23:43
[SPEAKER_02]: You didn't have to infiltrate the friendship.
• 23:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Like I would think, you know, when you've got been in Matt like that, that as you said, that it had been working together for so long, like they've got their own language, and there may be over here, but it doesn't sound like that.
• 23:54
[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, and they're very open to, I mean, they lack to collaborate.
• 24:00
  [SPEAKER_03]: They're aware that they're not, it's, it's, it's,
• 24:03
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, they want you to do great because it's everyone's movie, like ever, it we're a group and we have to make this together and I love that.
• 24:13
[SPEAKER_03]: I think that those, that's sometimes you're in a movie where the lead actor is just like, this is my movie and I have to carry and I didn't feel any of that with both of them.
• 24:25
[SPEAKER_03]: They were very open and they're very, you know, it was just just normal guys.
• 24:31
[SPEAKER_02]: What was some of the types of music that Joe was playing in between takes?
• 24:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god, you'll play everything.
• 24:38
[SPEAKER_03]: You'll play, like, for example, there's a fire, right?
• 24:42
[SPEAKER_03]: So the music was like, the room is all fire.
• 24:45
[SPEAKER_03]: That I mean, like crazy stuff.
• 24:49
[SPEAKER_03]: Something to do with the next scene or, um, old, uh, soundtracks.
• 24:58
[SPEAKER_03]: for, like, move, I mean, like, everything.
• 25:01
[SPEAKER_03]: What do you, what do you can imagine?
• 25:02
[SPEAKER_03]: Suddenly, you're like, oh, okay.
• 25:04
  [SPEAKER_03]: So we're doing, we're doing high, high-pitched.
• 25:08
  [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, let's do it.
• 25:09
[SPEAKER_03]: So it just, it just, it just, it just contagious.
• 25:11
[SPEAKER_02]: It happened right, I mean, obviously looking around me is no surprise.
• 25:13
[SPEAKER_02]: I always like hearing how music can be a part of the process.
• 25:16
[SPEAKER_02]: There are, you know, certain, some actors do use that.
• 25:19
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if they're going in the scene, they put the earbuds in, and it's a specific song to help them get there, you know?
• 25:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And, I don't know if you have that,
• 25:28
[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, I've never, I know I've never used that, but I know people that do, I need to work for them, and you know, some songs are really triggered for them to either remember something beautiful, or like whatever they want to achieve in that scene.
• 25:48
[SPEAKER_03]: But I've never used that, but yeah, I've seen it's really helpful.
• 25:54
[SPEAKER_02]: I was remembering, because you've seen some, right?
• 25:57
  [SPEAKER_02]: No, I don't know.
• 25:58
[SPEAKER_02]: Somewhere in the back of my mind is a role with you singing, but maybe I got that wrong.
• 26:03
  [SPEAKER_03]: No, not yet.
• 26:04
  [SPEAKER_03]: Not yet.
• 26:05
  [SPEAKER_03]: You never know.
• 26:06
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I thought I was never going to do an action film.
• 26:09
  [SPEAKER_03]: I have done three.
• 26:10
  [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
• 26:14
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to say no to nothing before reading it.
• 26:17
  [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
• 26:18
[SPEAKER_03]: Life just will throw you stuff that you can just play and see what happens and at the beginning of my career I thought everything has to be very serious.
• 26:31
[SPEAKER_03]: But now I'm older and I'm like, let's just have fun.
• 26:34
  [SPEAKER_02]: When did that change?
• 26:36
[SPEAKER_03]: I think once I had a kid, my child has shaped me into someone that, you know, life just is going too fast and you just have to have fun and don't take anything so seriously and, you know, we're actors and we should entertain and we should have fun basically.
• 26:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I guess I'm going back to this movie because it's almost like you get the best of both worlds in this movie though I mean, it's a it's a fun action movie at the same time But I was talking about the psychological part of it and everything like like you don't have to totally choose one of the other, right?
• 27:11
[SPEAKER_03]: No, no, that's a beautiful thing about this film, is like you can have both and they co-exist and you understand even more the characters by seeing that balance and it's so well done in this film.
• 27:26
[SPEAKER_03]: You know a little bit about the characters.
• 27:28
[SPEAKER_03]: You don't know the whole story.
• 27:30
  [SPEAKER_03]: You don't know the whole in-depth.
• 27:31
[SPEAKER_03]: What happens when they leave work and they go home?
• 27:34
  [SPEAKER_03]: Like who are they?
• 27:35
[SPEAKER_03]: And I love that mysterious thing, you know, that unspoken things.
• 27:41
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think there's a lot in this movie that there are so, so many secrets that they're there.
• 27:47
[SPEAKER_03]: And you feel it as an audience.
• 27:48
  [SPEAKER_03]: It's, it's right there.
• 27:50
  [SPEAKER_03]: And it's, it's very well written.
• 27:52
  [SPEAKER_03]: I like it.
• 27:53
  [SPEAKER_03]: I really enjoyed it.
• 27:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you, do you have a favorite part of the process?
• 27:57
[SPEAKER_03]: I enjoyed everything even this that a lot of people are like oh my god we're stuck in a room for like hours and hours I really enjoy it because when it's a movie that you love and you really believe that it's a good movie then you enjoy the whole thing
• 28:13
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, you enjoy the preparation, you enjoy shooting it, you enjoy doing ADR because you see little snippets here and there and then you enjoy listening to your co-stars, talk about their perspectives about what they thought about the movie when they were coming in.
• 28:33
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's just, we never talk about this at the beginning of the film.
• 28:38
[SPEAKER_03]: Now it's like the ending and then we see the results and you're like, yeah.
• 28:42
[SPEAKER_03]: I thought this, what did you think coming into this?
• 28:45
[SPEAKER_03]: What were you expecting coming into this?
• 28:48
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's very interesting, everything.
• 28:49
[SPEAKER_03]: All the process of filmmaking is quite interesting to me.
• 28:53
[SPEAKER_02]: very fortunate for you to land on something.
• 28:56
[SPEAKER_02]: And then I read it, I'll quickly bring this up at the end here because I was reading about that artist equity and the Netflix thing, which is a bonus to what all 1,200 people who worked on the film, if it meets like, like, I hope this is the direction we're going in, I guess, is what I'm getting at in the industry so much as changing.
• 29:14
  [SPEAKER_03]: I hope so too.
• 29:15
[SPEAKER_03]: I think it's, I mean, we as actors are the face of a movie, but the amount of work that goes behind cameras, it's enormous.
• 29:27
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think what they're doing is beautiful because you're giving a little piece of what we earn if we earn a lot to all everyone that worked in this
• 29:42
[SPEAKER_03]: dessert because I don't I don't think a lot of people know how much work it goes when you're making a movie.
• 29:52
  [SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
• 29:53
  [SPEAKER_03]: Kind of cameras.
• 29:53
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean the actress come out and be like oh yes the heat that's yeah that's circumstantial but like people get their three hours earlier to put lights and to put sound and to make sure that everything is perfect for when actress showed up that everything is fine.
• 30:09
[SPEAKER_03]: If we didn't have all these people, our job would be impossible, so what they're doing is incredible.
• 30:17
  [SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
• 30:18
[SPEAKER_02]: I would love to see more of that.
• 30:20
[SPEAKER_02]: And you all have done a fantastic job with this one, the entire crew and all of you all.
