- 0:57SPEAKER_03: Hello, I'm here.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: I like that one.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: I'm here.
- 1:03SPEAKER_02: I had um well I just saw today that you you did an episode of uh pub quiz with Jake Baldwin.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: I just had him on and he was like the other day, and he was just like um at the end of the episode, he was like, Goodbye.
- 1:17SPEAKER_03: I am here, and now I am leaving.
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: Matter of fact, speaking.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: No, that was so fun to be fair.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: That was really fun.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: I I really want to do that.
- 1:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you need to it's so funny.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: They are really funny duo.
- 1:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: We did a thing, like we did a thing here where he was like quizzing me on stuff as well.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Oh really?
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's so funny.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: That's so sick.
- 1:36SPEAKER_03: He's really good at pub quizzes.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: He's great, yeah.
- 1:38SPEAKER_03: He did um one at the Ediber Fringe.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: Did like a month-long run and I went, and it was so much fun.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: I was way too drunk.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: So good.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: You um you went up for how long?
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: What to the fringe?
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:50SPEAKER_03: I went for like yeah, I went for like just over a week.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's nice.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: But you were doing shows as well, weren't you?
- 1:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was doing I did like a five or I don't even know five or six day long run.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: And that was my first time ever like even going to the fringe.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 2:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I've never been there before.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: Oh wow, that's like that's really bold to like go not go and then just like never been before an extra.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because I remember the first time I went, I was like so intimidated by it all.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's really overwhelming.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: I got there and I was like, Jesus Christ.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: The competition is huge there.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: Um, but that was a really fun run.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: And also seeing everyone else's shows.
- 2:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: I saw hypnotist.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 2:24SPEAKER_03: Like I've never done I've never it was also like three points deep as well.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:28SPEAKER_03: I I believed it so much.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: I don't know if it's fake or if it's real, but I was really, I really believed it.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: Like proper believed.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Have you ever been have you ever been hypnotised or anything?
- 2:37SPEAKER_02: No, no, I've been hypnotised.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: But these people on stage looked hypnotized, and then this one guy who was on the stage came off and he was like, that was all a bunch of bullshit.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: And I was like, oh, well, wait to kill the vibe.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: I once went to see um this was years and years ago, but I saw Darren Brown live.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: Oh, sick, I want to see him.
- 2:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was so good, but like we were we were like front row as well.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Oh, s really?
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: And I was like, yeah, it was like I don't know how we got front.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: It was like the Apollo.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, that's really insane.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: I don't know how we got Fromro tickets, but it was just whatever I think they were just all the same price.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 3:05SPEAKER_02: But like um, we he was bringing some like audience members up based on like he trying to he kind of hypnotized the whole audience almost, but like it was like he was like, you will know if you should come up onto the stage.
- 3:18SPEAKER_03: What?
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, essentially it's like and then there were like 10 people that came up onto the stage.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: But this is what I'm saying, like I don't think it can be fit because when I when I saw this hypnotist act, yeah, there were these like random women, like like 50-year-old women who went on the stage and acted like a complete tit on stage, like they acted like such a tit.
- 3:36SPEAKER_03: And it's like I don't think they would have ever done that in a normal setting.
- 3:38SPEAKER_03: Like I wouldn't even do that, and I do comedy, like I wouldn't go off on stage and act like a tit.
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: Like, do you know what I mean?
- 3:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I was thinking, and they weren't drunk, they were completely sober.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 3:45SPEAKER_03: So I was like, like, how is this not real?
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: No, I do think it's there's definitely some kind of reality to it.
- 3:51SPEAKER_03: Surely, yeah.
- 3:52SPEAKER_03: Like, come on, but that that that was so I was I was so intrigued by that.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: But yeah, oh, did you see anything else that up there that you like that stood out?
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: Um I just saw comedy shows to be fair, but that was the one I was like, what?
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: What comedy shows did you see?
- 4:07SPEAKER_03: I saw like um Joe Jodie Sloan.
- 4:10SPEAKER_03: She's really she was really good.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: She had she did like a one-boom show.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: Um I I can't remember this Matt Matt Bennett, something Bennett.
- 4:17SPEAKER_03: Aaron, no, Aaron Bennett, I think it was that.
- 4:20SPEAKER_03: Um he I'm probably sagging him off because I can't remember his name, but he was actually really funny.
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: Um Bennett Aaron, I think that was his name.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: Um and I went to Jake's pub quiz.
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: Um that was so fun.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: I had to do like a I had to guess the size of a crisp and I actually lost.
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 4:35SPEAKER_03: I lost guess the crisp.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: That's like my photo.
- 4:38SPEAKER_03: I don't understand how I lost that.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: I was so humiliated.
- 4:40SPEAKER_02: I wouldn't I don't think I'd be able to guess the size of a crisp.
- 4:43SPEAKER_03: No, no, I was just like, that's just like I love crisps.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: I don't know why I got that wrong.
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: What do you mean?
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: But it was so funny.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: That's funny.
- 4:49SPEAKER_03: I know, I was so pissed off.
- 4:51SPEAKER_03: I got back to my seat and I was like, I don't even want to play anymore.
- 4:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: Lost the crisp competition.
- 4:56SPEAKER_02: So let's actually go on to then with that.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: Let's talk, let's talk about the film you've you've chosen.
- 5:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: Which is Alpha in the Chipmunks.
- 5:06SPEAKER_03: Listen, Out with the Chipmunks is a banging movie.
- 5:09SPEAKER_03: It's a banging movie.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: Even now.
- 5:11SPEAKER_03: Have you seen it?
- 5:12SPEAKER_02: So I this was the thing.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: Like we were we were trying to find out like a film that you you wanted to uh um wanted to talk about.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: Um and then it was last night you told me, and then I had to watch it this morning.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: I watched it this morning on the train.
- 5:25SPEAKER_03: Fuck off.
- 5:26SPEAKER_03: Did you actually about that?
- 5:28SPEAKER_03: No, no, it's fine.
- 5:29SPEAKER_03: It's absolutely fine.
- 5:30SPEAKER_03: Did you enjoy it?
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: I thought this was so much better than I was expecting it to be.
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: This was so much better than I was expecting it to be.
- 5:36SPEAKER_03: Thank you.
- 5:37SPEAKER_03: The fourth film is a load of shit.
- 5:40SPEAKER_03: That fourth film is a load of shit.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: I didn't know there were four.
- 5:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, there's Alva the Chipmunks, there's the squeakel, and there's Chipwrecked.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: That's yeah.
- 5:47SPEAKER_03: And then there's Road Chip.
- 5:49SPEAKER_03: And in my opinion, the order goes literally one, two, three, four.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: The first one is goated.
- 5:54SPEAKER_03: First one is goated.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Second one, it's good.
- 5:57SPEAKER_03: It's really good.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 5:58SPEAKER_03: Not as good as the first one.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:00SPEAKER_03: That one is just they nailed that one.
- 6:03SPEAKER_03: Third one, it's kind of shit.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:06SPEAKER_03: And the fourth one is absolute garbage.
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:09SPEAKER_03: They randomly got um LMFAO in there.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: Party rocking too.
- 6:12SPEAKER_03: That why why is why are they?
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Wait, wait, wait.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Were they like, was it at the height of their fame or was this like years later?
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: I think it was years later.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: It was like because they were bigger, like 2011, right?
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: That came out in like 2015.
- 6:24unknown: Oh god.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: That's like four years after who listens to LMFAO.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Like Alvare and the Chipmunk Chip ro chip road chip or whatever is fucking good.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: Also, you would expect them more on the on the cruise one.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: Like that was the peak of their fucking career.
- 6:36SPEAKER_03: And also they're on a cruise.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: Like why?
- 6:39SPEAKER_02: That's the kind of place that LMFAO would be.
- 6:40SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 6:41SPEAKER_03: But they were at some some house party.
- 6:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay.
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: Like, why like why were they there?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: And party rocking.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Party rocking in the house tonight.
- 6:48SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there you go.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, you cracked it.
- 6:52unknown: You actually cracked it.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: Damn, that's maybe maybe they do deserve a bit more um credit where it's due.
- 6:57SPEAKER_03: But I rate, I I don't care.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: I I remember I had a complete breakdown one day.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:03SPEAKER_03: I was ill, I just couldn't move, I was just overworked, I was just having a really, really bad time, I was crying.
- 7:09SPEAKER_03: And I was like, nothing will make me feel better than watching Alvin and the Chipmunks right now.
- 7:14SPEAKER_03: And I was great.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: It's like my antidepressant.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: I fucking love Alvin.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: How many times would you say you've seen it then?
- 7:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, quote the movie, probably.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: If I watched sit down and watched it, I could probably watch, I could probably quote it obviously.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: You couldn't even tell you how many you couldn't even say how many times you've seen it.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: Nah, because I remember first watching it when I was like five.
- 7:35SPEAKER_02: See, this is so depressing, because like you're saying five.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: This came out when I was 18.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: Perfect age for you to watch it.
- 7:45SPEAKER_03: When did it come out?
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: Uh 2007.
- 7:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I knew that.
- 7:48SPEAKER_03: I actually knew that as well because my brothers were one.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 7:51SPEAKER_02: Oh god, your brothers are even younger.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 7:53SPEAKER_03: They were one.
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: And the first one came out when I was four, but then I remember watching it because my dad got it on DVD and I was obsessed with it.
- 8:00SPEAKER_03: Play it again and again and again and again.
- 8:01SPEAKER_03: And then the second one came out on my sixth birthday in 2009.
- 8:06SPEAKER_03: And then the third one came out.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: And then well you should have you had the money to go see it, you might as well.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: Um that was at my that was my most pretentious phase though.
- 8:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, that was when I got really I got really into like the pretentious stuff.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: And then I got like once I left uni, I got out of that.
- 8:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, thank God.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:24SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: That's the whole point of this podcast, is like how I got out of it.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: Good, because I'm sorry.
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: I don't even care.
- 8:30SPEAKER_03: I will not sit down and watch a pretentious wanky French.
- 8:32SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, it's boring.
- 8:33SPEAKER_03: I find it boring.
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: You can like it.
- 8:35SPEAKER_03: You can genuinely like it.
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: I still like them, but like I got out of like I I'm I'm I don't expect everyone to like them.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: I don't suddenly expect like, oh, everyone has to think this is good.
- 8:42SPEAKER_03: I just like for me, a film is like either something that moves me and it's like quite like okay, you know, like Soul?
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:49SPEAKER_03: The movie Soul.
- 8:50SPEAKER_03: I didn't expect to like as much as I did, but it had like such a nice, I loved it.
- 8:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I had such a nice message.
- 8:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:56SPEAKER_03: It was really well shot and things like that.
- 8:57SPEAKER_03: It's a kid's film.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 8:59SPEAKER_03: That's like so much to say.
- 9:01SPEAKER_03: I always seem to gravitate towards kids' films.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: But that does seem to be the theme here going on.
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: Every m every film you've named.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: This is like for children.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: But I really I But you were also a child.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Which makes you a nonsense.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: But um, no, it's I don't know, like some serious films, like horror films are really fun.
- 9:22SPEAKER_02: Okay, that I do I do notice that a lot now where people were like people were like, um I find like kid people like kids' films or blockbuster films, or they're like horror films a lot.
- 9:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think because it's exciting.
- 9:35SPEAKER_02: So what horror films do you like?
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: I like the Saw franchise.
- 9:38SPEAKER_03: Okay, yeah, great.
- 9:39SPEAKER_03: That's really good.
- 9:40SPEAKER_03: Um I've been watching paranormal activity recently.
- 9:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, but um I found it like quite a funny watch.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: I quite like it.
- 9:46SPEAKER_03: It's not it's not too scary.
- 9:48SPEAKER_02: I don't find it very scary.
- 9:49SPEAKER_03: It's not scary, it's not really scary, but I just quite like watching it.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:51SPEAKER_03: Um like it has got jump scares and I'm a very jumpy person, so I think that's why I like it.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: See, I find jump scares cheating.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: I don't think that's I don't find that that's that's that's to me that's not horror.
- 10:01SPEAKER_03: That's not yeah, yeah.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: It's not it's not clever.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:03SPEAKER_03: It's just scary thing very in your face.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:06SPEAKER_03: But I think I can like it because I'm a very, very jumpy person.
- 10:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Um I like uh Ooh, what's some other ones?
- 10:14SPEAKER_03: Some other horror movies.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: I want ones that actually scare me.
- 10:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
- 10:19SPEAKER_03: I think it's all scary because it's like so brutal.
- 10:21SPEAKER_03: Oh, interesting.
- 10:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_02: Again, I find them disgusting.
- 10:25SPEAKER_02: I don't find I never find like the the brutal stuff that scary.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: I find like psychological stuff scary.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: I find psychological stuff really scary, but I don't can't think of any psychological film.
- 10:34SPEAKER_02: I think like I'm talking about like the shining or the shining, the shining is really good.
- 10:40SPEAKER_03: Stuff that gets in your head like that.
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, like what am I watching right now?
- 10:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 10:44SPEAKER_03: Um I think some I don't know, there's some I think do you think, okay, do you think films are getting worse or better?
- 10:54SPEAKER_02: I think I don't think they're getting worse or better.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: I think they are I still think they're they're changing a lot, but I don't think they're getting worse or better.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: I think they they've there's always there's these periods of time.
- 11:05SPEAKER_02: So this is this is me getting wanky now, but like No no no, please go, please be wanky.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: So that especially with like American cinema, like they they will go through in they go through stages of things.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: So like originally it was the musical.
- 11:20SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: In a period there's a period of time where it was like a film.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: So it was like there was a chunk of time where it was like the big thing was the musical.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: Greece.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: No, this is way before that.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: Oh, before I'm talking like 30s, 1930s.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, okay, okay, okay.
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: Um so that lasted for like a l until around fifth like late 40s, early 50s.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: Then it moved into the westerns.
- 11:41SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: The westerns became a thing for a long time.
- 11:43SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: Space has to be space next.
- 11:46SPEAKER_02: I was gonna say, then it's b then it's the blockbuster.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 11:49SPEAKER_02: Because Jaws came along in the 70s and and Jaws was the first blockbuster.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: I love Jaws.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's great.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Such a good film.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: Jaws and Star Wars within like two year span.
- 11:58SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: And then like those became the thing.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: And then so it's a blockbuster thing for a long time.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: And then it like kind of that lasted a long time, and now it now it is blockbuster, but it's superhero.
- 12:12SPEAKER_03: And you I feel like you are either a superhero person or you're not.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: And I'm not.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: And I think so many people and are moving away from it now, and I think it's dying out.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: I think it's dying out.
- 12:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think this is the end of it.
- 12:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think you're right, because the thing is, I think the big the big ones have already come out.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's nothing you can do anymore.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: Which is interesting.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: What do you think it will be next?
- 12:31SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 12:31SPEAKER_03: This is what is interesting, because it's like I think it could be like AI related.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Well, this is what concerns me.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Have you seen that thing that's come out about that AI person like that they're putting in films now?
- 12:42SPEAKER_03: What?
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: There's an AI character that they're putting in films, and everyone's like, no, don't do that.
- 12:45SPEAKER_03: AI person as an like an actor.
- 12:47SPEAKER_02: It's showing me this is craziness.
- 12:50SPEAKER_02: AI.
- 12:51SPEAKER_03: I I okay.
- 12:52SPEAKER_03: This is just my Tilly Norwood.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: Who that is?
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: This is like a new thing.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: This is like the last day or so.
- 12:56SPEAKER_02: There's an AI film.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: It's an AI film.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: There's gonna be an AI film with an AI character called Tilly Norwood, AI actor called Tilly Norwood.
- 13:04SPEAKER_03: So she's she's human.
- 13:06SPEAKER_03: No, but she's not like a a a cartoon.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she looks like this.
- 13:12SPEAKER_03: Wait, I need to see this.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: This is insane.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: It's crazy.
- 13:17SPEAKER_03: Why do we need an AI person?
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: Why do we need AI we've got we've got enough people, we've got enough struggling actors, why not just use them?
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: And the other thing is the other thing that's like really concerning me is that they want to use like AI scripts now for films.
- 13:28SPEAKER_03: AI scripts?
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:30SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, you're just putting everyone out of work.
- 13:32SPEAKER_03: You're literally putting everyone out of work and also it's gonna become so mindless.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be shit.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: It's gonna be so.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: Have you ever seen AI videos?
- 13:39SPEAKER_02: They're so shit.
- 13:39SPEAKER_03: They're so bad.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: It's like sometimes they're funny because it's like so Yeah, it's like so like oh I don't know.
- 13:47SPEAKER_03: Sometimes it's just like you have to laugh.
- 13:49SPEAKER_03: But there's um some like I I personally I I really don't like AI.
- 13:53SPEAKER_03: No, I don't really don't like AI.
- 13:55SPEAKER_03: I don't think I think the only way it could ever possibly be useful for is like doctors.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 14:01SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 14:02SPEAKER_03: If you want to like speed up the research practice of like trying to cure cancer, fine.
- 14:06SPEAKER_03: I understand that.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: But when it comes to creativity subjects, no, no, get that shit.
- 14:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, anything creative, please get it out of it.
- 14:13SPEAKER_03: Get rid of it.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: We don't need it.
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: No, we don't.
- 14:16SPEAKER_02: We don't need it.
- 14:17SPEAKER_03: So I I hate AI, generally I hate AI.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: It's really bad.
- 14:20SPEAKER_03: If you're like asking questions that it's like use your brain, exactly use your brain.
- 14:24SPEAKER_02: You don't need to use you just or use Google.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: Google or Google necess can comes up with AI results now.
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: I know!
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: It's like I Googled something earlier and I was like, why don't I just click on AI without even wanting to?
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: It's ridiculous.
- 14:36SPEAKER_03: I have no consent here.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: Oh god, it's bad.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: Um But I I really do like films.
- 14:41SPEAKER_03: I had a question to ask.
- 14:42SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 14:43SPEAKER_03: Um Do you do you like superhero films?
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: So I used to.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: I used to be like really into them.
- 14:49SPEAKER_02: And then like Marvel.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so I used to be like so this is the thing.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: I got started around I got started with them with the like the original Spider-Man, which was like 2002 or whatever.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: Like that that was like my early teen years, so like I was like, yeah, really into it.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: Then then like the Marvel days of like uh when Iron Man started or whatever, and like I got into it a little bit, but like not I wasn't like huge, huge on it, but I would watch them.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: And then I just like at the end of like the Avengers in like um what's it called?
- 15:19SPEAKER_02: Endgame.
- 15:20SPEAKER_02: By that point I was just like over it.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: Endgame came out in 2019, didn't it?
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: 2018?
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, around that time.
- 15:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, 2018-19.
- 15:26SPEAKER_02: And I think by that point I was like getting over it, and then like I've just I've not gone I've not been interested since then.
- 15:32SPEAKER_03: No, I mean like I I I I I really like some um I like Disney and Pixar films.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: I think they're gonna be really well.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: Like Monster's Inc., I think that's hilarious.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: Monster Inc.
- 15:42SPEAKER_03: Hilarious, classic dream works, I've got some amazing things like Shrek.
- 15:45SPEAKER_03: Come on.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Of course.
- 15:46SPEAKER_03: Incredible.
- 15:48SPEAKER_03: Um but like I think now, like I went to see this a film, but it was so like there's nothing memorable about it.
- 15:57SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, with certain films, they've got like a certain aesthetic to them.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:00SPEAKER_03: Or like they have like the I don't know, you it's like so like when you see a like okay, let's see there's like a an older person, let's say like a 30-year-old, they'll buy like no, no, not like that.
- 16:11SPEAKER_03: You mean young person, no, but like an older, like okay, it's like dedicated to kids, right?
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 16:16SPEAKER_03: Like a kid's toy.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:18SPEAKER_03: Oh Mike Grasowski.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: It's meant for children.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_03: An adult will buy it.
- 16:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:22SPEAKER_03: Because it's like it still looks cute even with their adult things.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, I get you.
- 16:27SPEAKER_02: I get what you say.
- 16:28SPEAKER_03: The stuff that they're making now is so ugly.
- 16:30SPEAKER_03: Sorry, it's so ugly.
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: I would never even if I liked the film, I would never be caught dead buying it.
- 16:34SPEAKER_02: Do you do you remember what the film was that you saw that you were like, this is not?
- 16:38SPEAKER_03: This is not no, I can't even remember what it was called.
- 16:40SPEAKER_02: Wow, that's even worse.
- 16:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was so bad.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: That says how bad it is.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: No, I literally can't even remember what it was called.
- 16:45SPEAKER_02: You don't remember anything.
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Do you remember anything about it?
- 16:47SPEAKER_03: I think I've no.
- 16:48SPEAKER_02: It's just gone from my memory.
- 16:49SPEAKER_03: I completely erased it.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, fair enough.
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: But I ones that have been recent that have been good at, I think Inside Out was good.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: Inside Out and Inside Out 2 was really good too.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:57SPEAKER_03: That was really, really good.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: But even like kids' TV cartoon shows.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: So this is the thing.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: So I've like my partner's got a daughter, and so she's she's watched, she's like she's five and she's watching all these things now.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 17:11SPEAKER_03: I get to see like so she'll sometimes so interesting from your perspective to see your children's like cartoon now.
- 17:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so it's so it's really what's really interesting is like they'll watch stuff now and it'll be like the stuff that I used to watch when I was a kid, but it's now 3D animated.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I don't like this.
- 17:27SPEAKER_03: This is that's so b that's so lazy.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: Come up with something new.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_02: She'll watch Arthur, which is still the same.
- 17:35SPEAKER_02: Everyone likes Arthur.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: What what kind of stuff do they make 3D and animated?
- 17:39SPEAKER_02: Like um post-model.
- 17:41SPEAKER_03: I saw that.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Bob the Builder, I think.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: Bob the Builder, yeah.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: What are we doing?
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Why did we do that?
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: He's not only made like Bob the Builder's not only 3D now and like and and like 3D animation, but he's like, he looks completely different.
- 17:53SPEAKER_02: He doesn't even look like he doesn't even look the same.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: What the hell?
- 17:56SPEAKER_03: Because I remember Bob the Builder being like he had like a round face.
- 17:59SPEAKER_03: Um did he have hair?
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: I don't think he had a little bit of hair.
- 18:03SPEAKER_02: So like he's gone from Shut up, who the hell is that?
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: He's gone from this to this.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: Like who is this?
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: Bob Bob the constructor.
- 18:12SPEAKER_03: Bob the scaffolder.
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: Who's that?
- 18:14SPEAKER_03: What the hell is that?
- 18:17SPEAKER_03: Even the even the trucks look weird.
- 18:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: This is insane.
- 18:20SPEAKER_03: Can I see Postman Pat?
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Is it Postman Pat?
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was Postman Pat.
- 18:27SPEAKER_02: I feel like Five and Sam they've done it as well.
- 18:31SPEAKER_02: I feel like Maybe it was Simon Sam not Postman Pat.
- 18:33SPEAKER_03: The thing is what I've noticed is that the the way that they create cartoons and things now, like people will buy what is this?
- 18:42SPEAKER_03: Uh who is that?
- 18:43SPEAKER_02: Who is that?
- 18:45SPEAKER_03: Oh my days.
- 18:46SPEAKER_03: What the hell is that?
- 18:48SPEAKER_02: What are they doing?
- 18:49SPEAKER_03: What the hell?
- 18:50SPEAKER_03: Postman Pat changed.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: No, he seems to be the s like I don't think they've made new episodes.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Oh really?
- 18:54SPEAKER_03: I used to watch Postman Pat all the time.
- 18:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:56SPEAKER_03: But I think like now like artwork when it comes to films and cartoons, a lot of people like bought, let's say, like I saw the thing, um the Mr.
- 19:04SPEAKER_03: Men.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: I saw like a really cute shirt and it had like a Mr.
- 19:07SPEAKER_03: Man character on it.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: I would still buy that.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, of course.
- 19:10SPEAKER_03: Because it was yeah, it looks really cool.
- 19:12SPEAKER_03: It actually looks really cool.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:13SPEAKER_03: But like I feel like nothing coming from like maybe like 2016 onwards looks cool.
- 19:20SPEAKER_03: No.
- 19:21SPEAKER_03: Like it looks ugly.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: It does, yeah.
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 19:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_02: Like that even like films, I don't know, it's just like oh yeah, this is the other thing about film like this this is another like nerdy technical thing about films as well.
- 19:32SPEAKER_02: But like the reason that the the reason the look has changed so much is because it's all gone digital.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Oh really?
- 19:38SPEAKER_02: So like it's taken away like the the charm of it.
- 19:41SPEAKER_02: They have to colour correct it in a different way.
- 19:43SPEAKER_03: That's the way the the charm, that's exactly the word I was looking for.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: So they have to colour correct it in a different way to what they colour corrected like actual film.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: So and because of that, they have to sh they also have to film it in a certain way that is a lot flatter as an image.
- 19:58SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: So that when they're colour correcting, because they film it flat as an image so they can colour correct it in post, whereas like they didn't do it as much in on film because they didn't have to.
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, that's insane.
- 20:08SPEAKER_02: So it takes away, it's taken away all of the charm of like this this is why you it you're feeling it, it looks so different.
- 20:14SPEAKER_02: But everyone's feeling it.
- 20:15SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, everyone's like, this is so ugly now.
- 20:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: Because like, I don't know, even like 3D films like Toy Story, yeah?
- 20:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that looks way cooler.
- 20:23SPEAKER_03: It does, doesn't it?
- 20:24SPEAKER_03: It looks way cooler though.
- 20:25SPEAKER_02: And then you look at Toy Story 4 and you're like, well, what is happening?
- 20:27SPEAKER_03: Like it's so bad.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: It's so bad.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: And maybe the plot is why it should have ended after Toy Story 3, in my personal opinion.
- 20:34SPEAKER_02: I completely agree.
- 20:35SPEAKER_03: Should have ended right there.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: Who is Bonnie?
- 20:38SPEAKER_03: Who why why was she?
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: Did it didn't like spoiler that didn't like Buzz and Woody like get lost or like get or something like that?
- 20:46SPEAKER_02: I mean they get lost every film.
- 20:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, so true.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: But they like parted ways on the other.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:51SPEAKER_03: And then Bo Pete was l like something happened to Bo Pete.
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: Bo Pee, yeah, they Bo Pete they found Bo Pete, yeah.
- 20:56SPEAKER_03: After like But that's so like it's not as it's not cute, like I don't know.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: They got another one, they're making another one.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: Shut up, are they actually?
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: Toy Story 5.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Toy Story 5, the villain is an iPad.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: It's not an actual iPad, but it's like an i it's like an iPad.
- 21:13SPEAKER_03: We need to we need to stop.
- 21:16SPEAKER_03: We need to stop with that.
- 21:17SPEAKER_03: We actually do need to stop.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: I do I I almost kind of like that as an idea though.
- 21:21SPEAKER_03: It's a good idea, it's a great idea, but we need to stop.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: We do need to stop.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: It doesn't need to be another toy story.
- 21:25SPEAKER_03: There's no there's no it should have stopped after the third.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: So emotional.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: It is like it's so emotional.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: When they're all holding hands.
- 21:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, that's so sad.
- 21:34SPEAKER_03: I was like, that's so sad.
- 21:36SPEAKER_03: Do you have any like do you have any kids' films that you like love?
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: Um the original toy story.
- 21:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's one of my favourites.
- 21:41SPEAKER_02: Um Beauty and the Beast.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I love that I used to love that film when I was younger.
- 21:46SPEAKER_02: I used to watch it all the time.
- 21:47SPEAKER_02: Um there's probably loads.
- 21:51SPEAKER_03: Pixar films, probably.
- 21:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a lot of Pixar films.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah, again, like I think a lot of those like early nineties Disney films as well, though.
- 21:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they were really I think like the golden period for Disney and Pixar was like mid nineties to early two like I think two thousand and uh twelve was probably the cutoff.
- 22:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, probably.
- 22:09SPEAKER_03: Because it had some good princess movies good movies come out.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: Like Tangled, that was a banging movie.
- 22:14SPEAKER_03: Uh Princess and the Frog.
- 22:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's great.
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: And then mm uh Brave.
- 22:18SPEAKER_02: Brave, yeah.
- 22:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Ginger.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: Ginger one.
- 22:20SPEAKER_03: I th I thought those were really good.
- 22:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:22SPEAKER_03: And then after that it was load of shit.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: Load of shit.
- 22:25SPEAKER_02: I think probably until like Inside Out, maybe.
- 22:27SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, Inside Out was really that came out in 2015.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: Oh no, actually no, because there's like there's every so often there'll be another another good one because like Soul.
- 22:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Soul and like Moana.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: That was quite good.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:36SPEAKER_03: Moana was good.
- 22:37SPEAKER_03: The second Moana was terrible.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: No.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: I haven't seen it.
- 22:39SPEAKER_03: I think it was Mo Oh, Frozen, that was a banger.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Oh, I don't like Frozen.
- 22:43SPEAKER_03: I I like it, but it's because I have such a good tie with it, because my little cousin.
- 22:47SPEAKER_03: But if she wasn't around, I probably would hate it.
- 22:49SPEAKER_02: The reason I hate it was um it it came out uh right before I went to Japan.
- 22:54SPEAKER_02: When I got to Japan, they were all singing it non-stop, and I was just like, I can't, this is k this is a killer.
- 22:58SPEAKER_03: That was like my little cousin as well.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: She made me watch it like constantly.
- 23:01SPEAKER_03: But like it's kind of sweet looking back, but obviously she's my cousin.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: You don't know these people.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: I was like, I can't hear another version of it.
- 23:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, it's gonna be painful for you.
- 23:10SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: We just let it go, but in Japanese, like the entire time.
- 23:13SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's quite cute.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: That's quite cute.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: That's so sweet.
- 23:17SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, so like Alan and the Chipmunks, do you know the rating of it?
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: Did you look it up?
- 23:23SPEAKER_02: No, or you just you just like assumed it was gonna be bad.
- 23:25SPEAKER_03: I assumed it was gonna be bad because the thing is, like, like it's out and no one really like everyone like kind of dresses up as if Halloween but like That's true.
- 23:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, everyone dresses up as like Alvin.
- 23:34SPEAKER_03: It's quite an easy costume to be fair for a group.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:36SPEAKER_03: But like, I don't know, I don't think it's very because I there might be another one that I is quite badly rated that I like.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: So it's 28%.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: Is that low?
- 23:46SPEAKER_02: That's out of a hundred.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's really low then.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: Fucking hell.
- 23:50SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't care.
- 23:51SPEAKER_03: What 28%?
- 23:52SPEAKER_02: With 107 reviews, it's averaged out to 28%.
- 23:55SPEAKER_03: 20, not even 50.
- 23:57SPEAKER_02: No.
- 23:58SPEAKER_02: The audience though, so this is the critics.
- 24:00SPEAKER_02: The audience is 64.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: See?
- 24:03SPEAKER_03: See?
- 24:03SPEAKER_03: I'm telling you.
- 24:04SPEAKER_02: There's always a with these kind of films, there's always such a big difference.
- 24:08SPEAKER_03: I'm telling you, it's a good film.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: It's a good film.
- 24:11SPEAKER_02: 64 seems about where I would put it.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:13SPEAKER_03: In total, yeah, it's not like life-changing.
- 24:16SPEAKER_03: No.
- 24:16SPEAKER_02: But it's but it's fun.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: It's fun.
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: It's a really fun movie.
- 24:18SPEAKER_03: Like I love it.
- 24:20SPEAKER_03: I fucking love it.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: I think it's like I I was not I didn't know what it was gonna be at all.
- 24:25SPEAKER_02: Like I didn't I knew I know I know Alvin and the Chipmunks as characters, but I didn't know what this film was gonna be.
- 24:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and like it is a bit jarring the voices.
- 24:34SPEAKER_03: My parents always said that they were like every time I put Alvin and the Chipmunks on, they were like, oh those fucking annoying high voices.
- 24:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it it's that so I think like what I actually really enjoyed was all the stuff around Dave.
- 24:47SPEAKER_03: Right, I love Dave.
- 24:49SPEAKER_03: He's like a stressed dad.
- 24:51SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's so funny, and you're like and the date, you know, the date scene is so funny.
- 24:55SPEAKER_03: It's so funny.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's uh it's it's also like there's not a whole lot to the plot of it, which I really enjoy.
- 25:00SPEAKER_02: I I actually liked as a because it's like it's a sim it's a nice simple plot.
- 25:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and it just it it it gets in and out and does exactly what it needs to do without like having anything that's like overly complicated.
- 25:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it doesn't overcomplicate it and it doesn't outstate its welcome either.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: It's only 90 minutes, it's like Yeah, I I can't I can't do long movies.
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: I cannot I cannot do it.
- 25:20SPEAKER_02: It's always not so I am I'm always grateful when someone comes into a podcast and they they pick a night a 90-minute movie or something, and I'm like, great, I can watch it quickly, like I don't have to watch it.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: There's some where it's like oh Titanic, for fuck's sake.
- 25:35SPEAKER_02: I once did once was bad voice too, and it's like nearly it's like two hours 40 minutes, and I'm like, Jesus Christ.
- 25:41SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, I'm not watching a movie.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: That's one thing about I will not watch a movie for more than two hours.
- 25:45SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: Haven't got the attention span.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: So you I think that's your generation.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:51SPEAKER_03: Maybe no.
- 25:52SPEAKER_03: Also, I've got ADHD, so it's probably more likely than that.
- 25:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: But like I for me, I can really lock in on a film.
- 25:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: But if it's more than fucking like why is a film three hours?
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: That's so long.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: My ass starts to hurt, I starts to get riggedy.
- 26:06SPEAKER_03: Like, I can't can't do it.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: There are some great three hour films, but like I uh if I see a film is three hours, I'm just like, oh it's gotta be work.
- 26:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: I I didn't actually get to watch Oppenheimer.
- 26:17SPEAKER_02: I thought it was overrated.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: You really?
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: I that was either like it was like amazing or it was like it was what do you think about Barbie?
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: I love Barbie.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: I love Barbie too.
- 26:27SPEAKER_02: I thought Barbie was great.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, thank you.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: I always trust men when they say they liked Barbie because some men are like, I didn't get it.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: It's like it wasn't for you, but it was for me.
- 26:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's great, it's really fun.
- 26:36SPEAKER_03: It's funny, it's it's also really funny.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: It's got a good plot.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: It's got a great plot, yeah.
- 26:40SPEAKER_03: I think the reason why it was so successful is because it was a good movie.
- 26:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:43SPEAKER_02: It was genuinely a good movie.
- 26:44SPEAKER_03: It was definitely a good movie.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:46SPEAKER_02: It would not be successful, like it wouldn't have been as anywhere near as successful.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: No, exactly.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: I just thought it had a good message and it was fun.
- 26:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it had broad appeal as well.
- 26:53SPEAKER_02: Like it wasn't just like it wasn't for a specific person in that way.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Like, I think that's a good that's what makes a good film.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: Like there was this one um I was watching this uh YouTube video, but like they were analyzing Home Alone.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 27:06SPEAKER_03: And I was like, this is like it's so simple.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: They broke down the message for like Home Alone, and it was like just the key moral was just the me the importance of family.
- 27:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: But the way they went around it was so clever.
- 27:17SPEAKER_02: Oh, I think he's an amazing writer, that guy.
- 27:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he's really good.
- 27:19SPEAKER_03: And like obviously, like the school, everyone knows the school.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 27:22SPEAKER_03: And they like I thought I love Home Alone.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: Home Alone is such a good show.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: Home alone is a classic.
- 27:26SPEAKER_02: I watch it every year.
- 27:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I don't really rate that many Christmas films.
- 27:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, see, I do, I I'm a big I'm big on Christmas films.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: Oh really?
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: What ones do you like?
- 27:34SPEAKER_02: Well, the Home Alone's Elf.
- 27:36SPEAKER_03: But third Home Alone is shit.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, I'm talking about one and two.
- 27:38SPEAKER_02: I'm not sure.
- 27:39SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, no, after Macaulay Culkin's gone.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: Sorry, after he's gone, what's the point?
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and then there was Home Sweet Home Alone, which is let's not even get into that.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: That was the recent one.
- 27:47SPEAKER_03: I didn't even know that came out.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: I didn't know that was a thing.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: I think it was straight to Disney Plus.
- 27:51SPEAKER_02: It was terrible.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was not good.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: It's we've really got like Rob Delaney and Ashling B in it.
- 27:58SPEAKER_03: But like, why are we doing this?
- 27:59SPEAKER_03: Macaulay Culkin's got his own home alone kid now.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: Like, what was the thing?
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, this is the thing.
- 28:03SPEAKER_02: They were like, people when when it was announced, it was like, oh, maybe he'll be in it as the dad now or something like that.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: But then no.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: That would not that would make sense, but I still think that'd be shit.
- 28:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, it would, but at least there'd be like some kind of nostalgia to it.
- 28:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I guess so.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: Um what other Christmas films do I love?
- 28:17SPEAKER_02: The only one I don't love that people do tend to love is Love Actually.
- 28:21SPEAKER_03: Um I'm not really big on romantic films.
- 28:24SPEAKER_03: Rom rom-coms, romance films.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: I'm like, it's pretty boring.
- 28:29SPEAKER_02: That's what that's one where I'm like, oh, this has everything, but it doesn't have anything.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: I don't really I don't think I've actually ever seen Love Actually.
- 28:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: I don't think uh wait, is that the one with Jack Black in it?
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: No, that's the holiday.
- 28:39SPEAKER_03: Oh, the holiday.
- 28:40SPEAKER_02: The holiday is better.
- 28:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the holiday is better.
- 28:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that one is better.
- 28:43SPEAKER_03: Uh a love actually I've never seen.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:45SPEAKER_02: I I don't think you like it.
- 28:46SPEAKER_03: I don't think I really like it.
- 28:47SPEAKER_03: Is it loads of romance?
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: There's like a bunch of romance stories in it, and then there's like so there's so many different stories to it, and then they all connect in some way at the end, and like you know like it doesn't sound like a bit of me anymore.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: That's probably a reason why I've not clicked on it.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: So there there's a bunch of different things, and then like some of the characters are connected to other characters in other stories, and then like Right.
- 29:09SPEAKER_02: It's a lot, and people people love it, but like I don't think it holds up.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: I think if you like rom coms, I'm assuming it's a rom com.
- 29:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm say so I'd say so.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but uh I'm just not a huge fan.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: But you like Elf?
- 29:24SPEAKER_02: I love Elf.
- 29:25SPEAKER_02: Um I always forget when people ask me like I love After Christmas.
- 29:30SPEAKER_02: I've never seen it.
- 29:31SPEAKER_03: Oh, you should watch it.
- 29:32SPEAKER_03: I think I think it's actually really good.
- 29:34SPEAKER_02: I've heard I've heard it is really good.
- 29:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:36SPEAKER_02: Um Nightmare Before Christmas.
- 29:38SPEAKER_03: Oh god, that's so good.
- 29:40SPEAKER_02: Bad Santa.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: But I've never seen Bad Santa.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: Oh that's one to watch.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: That is that is really yeah.
- 29:46SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'll watch it.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: That is definitely one to I think you might enjoy it.
- 29:48SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: Okay, I'll go watch it.
- 29:49SPEAKER_02: I genuinely think you might enjoy that one.
- 29:51SPEAKER_02: Um there's some here where they're like they're some kind of Christmas films, but they're also not like Gremlins.
- 30:01SPEAKER_03: Uh Gremlins, what's that one again?
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, oh yeah.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: I've never seen that one though.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: The Grinch.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: I love that film.
- 30:06SPEAKER_02: The original.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, the one with the Jim Carrey.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's classics.
- 30:09SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: So funny.
- 30:11SPEAKER_02: Um what else is there?
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there's there's just so many.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: That's so interesting.
- 30:16SPEAKER_02: Um there's one there's one here with um actually yeah, this is one I really enjoy that like people don't ever talk about.
- 30:24SPEAKER_02: It's called The Night Before, and it's with Seth Rogan, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and I saw that the other day.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: Anthony Mackey.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: I saw it.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: Wait, show me the show me the thing.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: It's this one.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I saw it the other day.
- 30:40SPEAKER_03: I literally watched it the other day.
- 30:42SPEAKER_02: What did you think?
- 30:42SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I thought it was great.
- 30:43SPEAKER_03: I thought it was really good, yeah.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: I thought it was really good.
- 30:46SPEAKER_02: I like stuff like that where it's like kind of Christmas, but like they they do loads of other stuff in it.
- 30:50SPEAKER_03: It happens at Christmas time.
- 30:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it just happens to be at Christmas time.
- 30:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I I like that too.
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: I'm not a huge fan of elf.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 30:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm not really like big on that.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: I don't know why.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, I can un I can get why people are not into it.
- 31:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 31:03SPEAKER_02: It's a lot.
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's like it's like okay.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: I like Home Alone.
- 31:06SPEAKER_03: Home Alone is like I think probably.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Home Alone is pro is is still the best.
- 31:09SPEAKER_02: I don't think anyone comes close.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: Um Isn't it interesting to see that everyone has that kind of similar opinion with Home Alone?
- 31:15SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 31:16SPEAKER_03: It's really interesting.
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: Like I think everyone loves Home Alone.
- 31:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know if a single person doesn't like Home Alone.
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: If you don't like Home Alone, why?
- 31:22SPEAKER_02: Like If you don't actually comment, comment and let me know.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Like if you like please say you don't like Home Alone and please t please tell us why you don't like Home Alone because I'm I'm genuinely curious.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: I'm not like I'm not gonna judge you for it.
- 31:32SPEAKER_03: I neither.
- 31:33SPEAKER_03: I don't care what your opinion is, but I'm like, why?
- 31:35SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 31:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm genuinely curious.
- 31:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, thanks.
- 31:38SPEAKER_02: Um but Alvin and the Chipmunks, like just uh what's rated so badly.
- 31:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's rated terribly.
- 31:44SPEAKER_03: 28%.
- 31:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: This came up with Okay, sequel, squeakel.
- 31:49SPEAKER_03: Squeakel, thank you.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: 21%.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: Shut up, even lower.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: Well yeah, as you said, they get worse.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, true.
- 31:55SPEAKER_03: That yeah, okay, that's making sense.
- 31:57SPEAKER_03: Okay, chipwrecked was uh should be low.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: Let's find it.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: Should be really low.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: And chipwrecked, uh chipwrecked and then chip road chip should be really low.
- 32:06SPEAKER_02: Why is it not coming up?
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: Probably a reason.
- 32:10SPEAKER_02: Uh let's go.
- 32:13SPEAKER_02: Let's click on one of the characters and try and find it.
- 32:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah, probably.
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: Uh Are you on Ross and Tomatoes?
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:20SPEAKER_02: Chipwrecked.
- 32:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 32:22SPEAKER_02: Ten percent.
- 32:23SPEAKER_03: Ten?
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: It's a load of shit.
- 32:24SPEAKER_03: It's a load of shit that film.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: And when did the last one come out?
- 32:28SPEAKER_03: Road chip, I think came out in twenty fifteen.
- 32:29SPEAKER_02: I'm Javy Cross not in it.
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: No! I don't wait, I don't even know.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: Because he's in the first three.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: That's interesting.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: Um I don't even know if Ian's in it.
- 32:38SPEAKER_02: Oh, the Road Chip.
- 32:40SPEAKER_02: 16.
- 32:41SPEAKER_03: How is that how them chipwrecked?
- 32:42SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 32:43SPEAKER_03: The last film was uh diabolical.
- 32:46SPEAKER_03: Like give that a watch just as I don't want I I'm almost scared to watch them.
- 32:50SPEAKER_03: No, what okay.
- 32:52SPEAKER_03: I think the other two the two the last two are the wrong way around.
- 32:56SPEAKER_03: I do think that the series gets progressively worse.
- 33:00SPEAKER_03: And look at um audience interaction as well if you can.
- 33:05SPEAKER_03: On on the second one, because the second one really blew up.
- 33:09SPEAKER_03: It blew up in um like when I was in school, but everyone loved it.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: 49.
- 33:14SPEAKER_03: It's quite low.
- 33:15SPEAKER_03: That is, yeah.
- 33:15SPEAKER_03: It's quite low.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: 49, then up to 51 for Chipwrecked.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: So it goes up slightly for Chipwreck.
- 33:22SPEAKER_03: When did that come out?
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: 2011.
- 33:24SPEAKER_02: 2000 yeah, 2011.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: And then it's a sympathetic.
- 33:30SPEAKER_02: Road chip 51 as well.
- 33:32SPEAKER_03: It was no, you okay, I'm I'm not even joking.
- 33:35SPEAKER_03: Please watch Road Chip.
- 33:36SPEAKER_03: You don't even have to watch the other three to understand it.
- 33:38SPEAKER_03: Watch Road Chip.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: It is awful.
- 33:40SPEAKER_03: It is terrible.
- 33:42SPEAKER_03: And the and like everyone in it is just so annoying.
- 33:45SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: So annoying.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: Like I feel like Dave is like a good actor and Ian's a good actor.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, I mean, yeah, they are good actors.
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: They play the roles really well.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:54SPEAKER_03: And the new people just load hate.
- 33:58SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 34:00SPEAKER_03: I was like, no, no, it's just my friend who's on she's on my work break, so she usually calls me at lunchtime.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it it's it's I can't believe that the first one's the same audience interaction.
- 34:19SPEAKER_03: Wait, audience interaction, but they're two different generations.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: Are they different?
- 34:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because the people who watched the first one would have grown up at that point.
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: Oh yes, yes, you're right.
- 34:29SPEAKER_03: And a new wave of children would have watched um the fourth one.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: Or this is the adults that grew up on the first one.
- 34:37SPEAKER_03: And yeah, oh, and they were thinking, oh, this is gonna be And they've rated it, maybe I don't know.
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: It's weird, like people I'm looking at the reviews of the first one now and it's just like people people didn't like I think they liked it.
- 34:53SPEAKER_03: I think so.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: I'm looking what's interesting is like the the the newer review so the reviews when they came out are worse than the reviews now.
- 35:02SPEAKER_03: Right, because people have gone back.
- 35:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think so.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:06SPEAKER_03: And I think the reason why people didn't like it at the time is because it was made for children, maybe.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 35:12SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: Maybe I don't know.
- 35:14SPEAKER_03: I think it's that's so weird because even my parents liked what do you have on the chipmunks.
- 35:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they like what's me.
- 35:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:20SPEAKER_02: It's like people keep saying the the thing that everyone says is like they're cute, they're really cute and it's fun and occasionally stupid, but it's fun.
- 35:28SPEAKER_03: I personally think that it's a good plot.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: Like, you know, Ian captures them.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: And also I really liked when I was younger, I liked the um montage of them getting loads of cool stuff, and they were like, Yeah, yeah.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: I I find that like really fun.
- 35:40SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh imagine I got to do that and this and that.
- 35:42SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 35:43SPEAKER_03: And like, I don't know, I think there's certain elements to it, but it's like it's really good for children.
- 35:47SPEAKER_02: It's great for children, like the and the music's really fun.
- 35:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's r I think it's a really fun film.
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: Um I think I rewatch it because of the n nostalgia.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 35:54SPEAKER_02: Like I wouldn't go back and watch it myself, but like God, no, because no, of course not.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: Um but I was saying, I was saying to my partner, I was like, oh, um we should put this on because like um uh her daughter might like this.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:08SPEAKER_02: And like, yeah, so I just I told her to watch, I said like I messaged her this morning and said that.
- 36:13SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 36:14SPEAKER_02: I was like, this is actually recently.
- 36:16SPEAKER_03: Do you think she'll do you think she'll like it?
- 36:17SPEAKER_02: I think she would.
- 36:17SPEAKER_02: It seems like the sort of this because again, it's just like so she she really likes trolls.
- 36:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, I actually like trolls.
- 36:24SPEAKER_03: I thought trolls was good.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: She likes the trolls movie, so I'm like, oh, well, it's kind of kind of a little bit similar with like the music, yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: And also I I've realized with loads of little girls like trolls.
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: Like my little cousin, she loves trolls.
- 36:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, she loves it, like doesn't even like that's her favourite thing.
- 36:39SPEAKER_03: And I wonder why.
- 36:40SPEAKER_03: Like I think it's got I don't know.
- 36:42SPEAKER_03: I think it's like colourful and like pop and this and that.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: Trolls and then also um what's the other one?
- 36:47SPEAKER_02: Sing.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, she also likes sing as well.
- 36:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's it's interesting that they all gravitate towards the same like kind of film.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: I thought sing was quite good actually.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: I I really like sing.
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think sing is really good.
- 36:58SPEAKER_02: I actually don't mind trolls either.
- 37:00SPEAKER_03: No, yeah, trolls are right.
- 37:01SPEAKER_03: I think obviously you've got to be a bit more like you like, you know, musicals and this and that.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: It's more, I think, for like theatre kids maybe.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, definitely.
- 37:08SPEAKER_03: But I thought it was it was a good plot either way.
- 37:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: I really yeah, I enjoyed it.
- 37:12SPEAKER_02: But um with Alan and the Chipmunks, what do you um so is there anything that you remember about it that's like stands out as like above a lot of the other films that make you that you made you want to pick it that like Because well I because I I kind of I the reason I chose it is because I knew that a lot of people either loved it or hated it.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 37:32SPEAKER_03: And I have no idea why.
- 37:34SPEAKER_03: And I can see like why it's really jarring because they're like these annoying like little American chipmunks and they like really I don't know, I get it.
- 37:43SPEAKER_03: But I don't know.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: I think the way that Dave comes around and like he turns into a dad, even though you're like I was never his mission.
- 37:50SPEAKER_03: I think I was like, oh yes, that's like a really nice message.
- 37:52SPEAKER_02: It is a nice message, and I think he's I I think Jason Lee's like really good in this as well.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: Like perfect selection, yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: And this was the time this was also the time where he was like absolutely massive, but he was coming off, he was like in the middle of My Name is Earl, the TV show.
- 38:06SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, and like he was he was like at his peak and he decided and he decided to do like this stuff and like have fun with it.
- 38:12SPEAKER_03: And exactly.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: It's got like David Cross as well, who's just I love David Cross, so funny, he's so hilarious, yeah.
- 38:19SPEAKER_03: And also I think the reason why I like it is like is it's so like it's like a pinch of looking at Hollywood a little bit.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's like oh they're touring and they're they've like you know there's like all these American things that like as a British child, I was like, what is that?
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: Like it's kind of fun, like well he was there's there's a point where he's like, Oh, the chipmunks are gonna be in LA tonight and Paris tomorrow and yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:41SPEAKER_03: It's like kind of like, oh, this is like and they go to like parties and things, yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_03: Kind of cool.
- 38:46SPEAKER_03: When I was like little, I don't know.
- 38:47SPEAKER_03: It's like kind of fun.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I do like it.
- 38:49SPEAKER_02: It's it I can imagine like the the like making you wanted to watch it because you were like you were like um so enamoured by the the Hollywood of it all.
- 39:00SPEAKER_03: I was like, wow, this is so cool, you know what I mean?
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: Like it's nothing to do with my life at all.
- 39:04SPEAKER_03: But yeah, it was I just found that fun.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:06SPEAKER_02: So like is it was this a film that you would you say that you watched this a lot um a lot more than other kids' films at that point?
- 39:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you watched it constantly.
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: But I I that is a common thing, I think, with kids as well.
- 39:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they'd like to watch the same thing over and over and over again, and it was like perfect timing for me because like literally on my sixth birthday, the second one had come out.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: So my birthday party was literally group trip to the cinema.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and like uh it was actually I was talking to my mum about the other day, and she was like, that was the cheapest party we ever did.
- 39:38SPEAKER_03: Because they had like a discount for like like you know, like schools, yeah.
- 39:42SPEAKER_03: So it was actually two pounds per kid.
- 39:44SPEAKER_03: Wow, and I so I could invite my entire class because it was like what like like 30 quid or something.
- 39:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and all like and then we went for pizza afterwards.
- 39:54SPEAKER_03: Amazing best birthday I've ever had.
- 39:56SPEAKER_03: Amazing, that's a great birthday, and everyone fucking loved it, like everyone was buzzing, everyone loved it.
- 40:01SPEAKER_03: Like we were the only kids in the cinema as well.
- 40:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, you met her.
- 40:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know, it was brilliant at the best time.
- 40:06SPEAKER_02: You're in private screening of it.
- 40:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know private screening of Alvin the Chipmunks too the squeakel, it's crazy, and everyone was so excited because everyone else loved it too.
- 40:13SPEAKER_03: So funny.
- 40:14SPEAKER_02: It would have been so funny if you'd been like, oh, can I can I talk about one of the one of the sequel ones?
- 40:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but yeah.
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: Okay, well now I've got to do work and go watch squeakel as well.
- 40:25SPEAKER_03: That's so funny.
- 40:26SPEAKER_02: Um is there anything like do you know let me see if there's any I didn't get to read the trivia actually beforehand, but um the what?
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: The trivia on on it all, but like it's yeah, Justin Long is the the voice of Alvin, and then it's um Yeah.
- 40:39SPEAKER_02: It's Justin Long, Matthew Grey Goober.
- 40:42SPEAKER_03: That's a crazy surname.
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's a Goobler.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: Goobler, grey Grey Goobler.
- 40:47SPEAKER_03: Grey Goobler, that's so American.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's a very he's he's so American.
- 40:51SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: Um Justin Long and Jesse McCartney, who's like a singer.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: Is he Theodore?
- 41:00SPEAKER_02: He is Theodore, yeah.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: That's crazy.
- 41:01SPEAKER_03: What the hell?
- 41:03SPEAKER_03: That's that's mad.
- 41:04SPEAKER_03: And then like the casting, I think the casting really was nail on the head, to be honest.
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: And then there's Jane Lynch randomly in one scene as like his boss.
- 41:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I know.
- 41:12SPEAKER_03: It's really, really random.
- 41:13SPEAKER_03: Like it's really random.
- 41:15SPEAKER_02: It's must have been like this would have been like right before Glee.
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: So that makes I guess that makes sense.
- 41:22SPEAKER_02: But like she yeah.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: So random.
- 41:24SPEAKER_03: And like they had some bangers.
- 41:25SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry, like they had some banging chains.
- 41:27SPEAKER_03: And yeah, I just remember like Ian's house.
- 41:29SPEAKER_03: I was like, this is a sick.
- 41:30SPEAKER_03: Ian's house is incredible.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: Ian's house is so sick.
- 41:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: And I was like, damn.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: When I was like, from this day on, I will get Ian's house.
- 41:37SPEAKER_03: I'll have a pool and I'll have a massive house.
- 41:40SPEAKER_03: Did not work out.
- 41:41SPEAKER_02: This I've just read this very funny piece of him of trivia.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: So Bill Murray, Jim Carey, Chevy Chase, Tim Allen, John Travolta, Vince Fawn, Adam Sandler, and Ben Stiller were all offered and declined the role of Dave.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: Shut up, they all declined.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: And then Jason Lee states that he was so excited that the producers offered him a role, originally offered to Bill Murray, that he did backflips.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: Oh my god.
- 42:06SPEAKER_03: He did backflips.
- 42:08SPEAKER_02: Because Bill Murray was offered the role at one point.
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: They offered it sounds like they offered it to everyone.
- 42:13SPEAKER_03: Literally, they said any male comedian.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, any male comedian.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: That's insane.
- 42:18SPEAKER_02: I could imagine Bill Murray in that role.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: That would have been so weird.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: That'd be so fucking funny.
- 42:23SPEAKER_02: Tim Allen, John Travolta.
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: Oh John Travolta in it.
- 42:25SPEAKER_03: John Travolta, like why is it?
- 42:27SPEAKER_02: Oh, that would have been awful.
- 42:28SPEAKER_03: That would be terrible.
- 42:29SPEAKER_03: I would terri but I like Dave because he like I like I think the character, like, no offense to him, he's like a little bit of a loser.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:35SPEAKER_03: Uh he played a loser really well.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: Like he played it really well.
- 42:37SPEAKER_03: John Travolta could not do that.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: No.
- 42:39SPEAKER_03: He was literally fucking thinging in Greece.
- 42:41SPEAKER_03: Like why you can't do that?
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: Oh, such a good film.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: It's great.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: Um I'm trying to find if there's any other like funny information and funny bit of trivia on it.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: I feel like there is so much lore.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: The film was originally announced in June 1997.
- 42:58SPEAKER_03: What happened?
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: Why'd it take 10 years?
- 43:00SPEAKER_02: And it was supposed to be directed by Robert Zemeckis, the guy that made Forrest Gump and Back to the Future.
- 43:05SPEAKER_03: Shut up.
- 43:06SPEAKER_03: This is what I'm saying.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: I'm I'm telling you.
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: But in 2000, the estate of Ross Bagdas Bagdessarian, I guess that's the creator, filed a lawsuit against Universal Pictures and they had to halt it in 2005 until 2005.
- 43:20SPEAKER_03: What?
- 43:21SPEAKER_03: What?
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 43:22SPEAKER_03: There's so much law, this is craziness.
- 43:24SPEAKER_02: Sarah and Michelle Gather, Jennifer Love here at Samahayek, Lauren Graham, Drew Barrymore, Gabrielle Union, and Jessica Alba were all considered for the role of Claire.
- 43:33SPEAKER_03: Drew Barrymore.
- 43:34SPEAKER_03: Like what are we talking about?
- 43:35SPEAKER_03: Al from the chipmunk.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, this is this is Bill Marion Al and Sama Hayek.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Bill Mary and Samahayek, yeah, great.
- 43:42SPEAKER_03: Crazy.
- 43:43SPEAKER_03: Crazy like that.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: John Tro John Travolta and and uh Drew Barrymore.
- 43:48SPEAKER_03: That's fucking insane.
- 43:49SPEAKER_03: Like that's insane.
- 43:50SPEAKER_03: That's craziness.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: What this this could have been an insane movie.
- 43:55SPEAKER_03: Like it could oh, it is an insane movie.
- 43:57SPEAKER_03: It is, but like it could have been absolutely bonkers.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:00SPEAKER_03: I know.
- 44:01SPEAKER_03: It's fucking ridiculous.
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: Wow, what a strange movie.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: What a strange production.
- 44:05SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, it's it's really fun.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: I I I I was expecting to absolutely hate this movie.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: I thought it was gonna be awful.
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: From from the look of it, it looks like cheesy American like But it was really fun and like Right.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: It yeah, I enjoyed it a lot.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: It's quite fun.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: Do you have anything else that you want to say about it, or should we move on to the final segment?
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: Let me think.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: Nah, nothing else to say, really.
- 44:28SPEAKER_03: Nothing else to say.
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 44:30SPEAKER_03: Leave it at that.
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: Um okay, so let's move on to that final segment then, which is um you've prepped me for that you've got you've got a good one.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: And it's um the reverse of this, which is a movie that's well reviewed and well loved that you actually think is a bad movie.
- 44:43SPEAKER_03: Weapons.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: I did not personally.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: And there's nothing I personally a new choice.
- 44:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, I personally it was okay.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't watch it again.
- 44:53SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 44:54SPEAKER_03: I liked it in the moment, but I was expecting a lot more from the hype.
- 44:58SPEAKER_03: I was expecting it.
- 44:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it was very hyped.
- 45:00SPEAKER_03: Very hyped.
- 45:01SPEAKER_03: And I was expecting a lot more, but I can I just ask, like I don't know, I felt though the okay, I'm probably gonna spoil it, so I'm probably not gonna say it.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: I mean, spoilers if you can say it, but there are spoilers coming.
- 45:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's spoilers coming, so just skip this if you don't.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: If you've come in here to watch about Alvin and the chipmunks and giving spoilers a weapon to the entire movie and the sequel.
- 45:22SPEAKER_03: Um but I didn't Okay, like from the get-go, we knew that the boy had something to do with it.
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: That was given.
- 45:30SPEAKER_03: Sure.
- 45:31SPEAKER_03: I would like to have there to have been something like it was someone we didn't expect.
- 45:35SPEAKER_03: And it kind of did happen, yeah, I understand that.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: But we knew that it was tied to him all along, and it was too obviously creepy from the get-go.
- 45:42SPEAKER_03: Cause it I knew immediately, it was almost like, is it seriously him?
- 45:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:47SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: One th one thing that I think was really obvious that people didn't seem to get, and I don't know why people didn't get this.
- 45:53SPEAKER_02: It was so obvious that Josh Bonham was his dad.
- 45:57SPEAKER_03: What do you mean?
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: As in like the dad of the bully.
- 46:01SPEAKER_03: Right, exactly.
- 46:02SPEAKER_03: Like you know what I mean?
- 46:03SPEAKER_03: Like the dad of the bully.
- 46:04SPEAKER_02: It was so obvious they were connected to each other.
- 46:05SPEAKER_02: Of course, obviously and I don't know why but people in the cinema were like, oh but I like what do you mean?
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: It's so obvious.
- 46:14SPEAKER_03: It's really obvious.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: And also like with the with the this random auntie coming in, I've never seen her before.
- 46:21SPEAKER_03: And in my opinion, they just dressed her up creepy and and brought this scary old lady in.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: And the thing is I struggled with is every character was made plainly obvious.
- 46:31SPEAKER_03: I didn't like that.
- 46:32SPEAKER_02: Sure, okay.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: And that's why I didn't rate it.
- 46:33SPEAKER_03: Because I want there to be a bit of like oh my god, it was I'm I want to guess like what the problem is.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: And it was a guessing game, everyone's trying to figure out why these kids are running off.
- 46:41SPEAKER_03: But it was plainly obvious to the point where I was like, is that seriously it?
- 46:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:45SPEAKER_03: I I thought cinematography was great, I thought that was cool.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was very well shot.
- 46:49SPEAKER_03: Very well shot, but that's the only thing I could take away from personally.
- 46:53SPEAKER_02: I see, I thought it was I really liked the like the allegory to like school shootings and stuff like that.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: I thought it was really interesting.
- 47:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:00SPEAKER_03: Okay, are we going to that?
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: So like the whole thing is is just basically like it's a thing about like the the parent parents dealing with the fact that the kids got the kids were shot by in in a school shooting, and it's parents dealing with that and not being so so there's like there's the whole stuff with the with the art the creepy art and whatever and what have you, but like there's the the main theme around it is like to do with school shootings and so you get the teacher who is blame taking the blame for it, taking the blame for it, and it's like, why didn't you do anything?
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: Why didn't you stop this?
- 47:35SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: And she's like, I couldn't like how was I stopped?
- 47:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: So it's the whole thing around that.
- 47:40SPEAKER_03: Yeah, interesting.
- 47:41SPEAKER_02: And it's them going missing one day, so it's like the entire class, but the one kid, you know, and it's the one kid of like, you know, he's done.
- 47:49SPEAKER_03: I I I completely see that, but the thing is, it wasn't um I don't I for for me personally, the way that it was shot and the characters that were brought in, I don't think that it was like I I don't think it had anything to do with that.
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: Do you know what I mean?
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: Like No, I know.
- 48:05SPEAKER_03: I I think they do like obviously they change stuff around it, but like yeah but and the message behind it is is is really good.
- 48:13SPEAKER_03: But like it was too obviously creepy.
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:16SPEAKER_03: And if they if they I like the message and I like the fact that these kids have all like run off.
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:21SPEAKER_03: And it's like kind of insinuating that they've all died and gone to like you know, they've gone to a different place now that they've been killed, but that was it.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's it, yeah.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: That's it.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: Like there's nothing else you can do there.
- 48:32SPEAKER_02: And the thing is like you know they're making a prequel.
- 48:34SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 48:35SPEAKER_03: Oh, are they?
- 48:36SPEAKER_02: With the with about the aunt.
- 48:38SPEAKER_03: About the aunt.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: Okay, that might might be interesting.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: I'm less interested in that.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm like I'm like it doesn't matter.
- 48:45SPEAKER_02: I'm like, it doesn't kinda doesn't need it.
- 48:47SPEAKER_03: And then also uh can I just say like this the twigs that what's that?
- 48:51SPEAKER_02: It's all witchcraft.
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: It's just witchcraft.
- 48:54SPEAKER_03: But like it's just like it has no meaning.
- 48:56SPEAKER_03: Like I feel like there should have been like a meaning as to why why did she why is she able to do this and what yeah, well I think that's what we'll find out in the prequel.
- 49:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but like I think there should have been a bit more I don't know, I don't know.
- 49:08SPEAKER_03: I just didn't really like it that much.
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, fair enough.
- 49:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I get that.
- 49:11SPEAKER_03: I can understand that.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I just I thought it was a bit too too too obvious.
- 49:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:15SPEAKER_02: I can it's definitely not I don't think it w yeah.
- 49:18SPEAKER_02: I agree with the obviousness of that.
- 49:19SPEAKER_02: I definitely agree with that.
- 49:20SPEAKER_03: I think that's where it's like it had potential for me, but that's where it went wrong.
- 49:23SPEAKER_02: You want a bit of mystery and your horror?
- 49:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly.
- 49:25SPEAKER_03: I kinda wanna like be like, oh something.
- 49:27SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:27SPEAKER_03: And like, for example, when she came to the house where the the two guys were living, they're the gay guys.
- 49:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:34SPEAKER_03: And she came in immediately, I knew they were gonna die.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah.
- 49:37SPEAKER_02: Immediately.
- 49:38SPEAKER_03: But like it was so obvious.
- 49:40SPEAKER_03: Um I don't know, I like the stick breaking hair, I don't know.
- 49:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't think anything nothing surprised me in the film.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: I will say that.
- 49:46SPEAKER_02: Nothing surprised me.
- 49:47SPEAKER_03: I just that's why I thought it was a little bit lazy in that film.
- 49:50SPEAKER_02: Sure, okay, I get that.
- 49:51SPEAKER_03: But maybe not, I don't know.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: Which is my opinion.
- 49:53SPEAKER_03: Fair enough.
- 49:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 49:54SPEAKER_02: Did you see his other film, uh Barbarian?
- 49:57SPEAKER_03: I've heard of it, I've never seen it.
- 49:59SPEAKER_02: I prefer Barbarian.

- 50:01SPEAKER_03: Okay, shall I give it a watch then?
- 50:02SPEAKER_02: That's got that's got a very good that there's stuff in it that will shock you.
- 50:07SPEAKER_03: Oh really?
- 50:08SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 50:08SPEAKER_02: Go into it blind.
- 50:09SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
- 50:10SPEAKER_03: I won't I won't I won't I won't um look at it.
- 50:11SPEAKER_02: There's stuff in it will shock you.

- 50:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 50:14SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 50:14SPEAKER_02: More so.
- 50:15SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 50:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 50:16SPEAKER_03: See, like the thing that was scary about weapons is obviously the face smashing and then the the look on their and the look on their face and stuff.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: Barbarians also very gory.
- 50:23SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay, okay.
- 50:24SPEAKER_03: I'll give that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_03: I'll just I won't eat too much of a fall.
- 50:27SPEAKER_03: Um, but I I found it I found it creepier that the way that they ran.
- 50:31SPEAKER_03: I did find that really creepy.
- 50:33SPEAKER_02: I didn't find that creepy.
- 50:34SPEAKER_03: I found that quite creepy.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: It just reminded me of Naruto.
- 50:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, oh yeah, now you've ruined it.
- 50:39SPEAKER_03: But the guy with his you know the um the guy who smashed his partner's face in and he ran after her.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
