- 1:41join me. We're ready, are you? Hey? Everyone? This is
- 1:49patrese E Scie book out A four three, and I have this exciting opportunity
- 1:56to interview my fellow podcasters. I am so honored to be with these group
- 2:01of women and men and we all came together and we are the Crew that's
- 2:07da get It correct d Crew podcast. So tonight is my first interview with
- 2:15one of my fellow podcast sisters. Her name is Latanya Little John. I'm
- 2:23sorry, y'all, the weather's kind of getting me some. I'm kind of
- 2:24ignoring it. So come on, Tanya, come on, girl, come
- 2:28on and screen. Hey, hey, hey, like my sister girl.
- 2:36This is so exciting because you know, we when we get together, we
- 2:40have meetings and we actually have training classes. So this feels like we're in
- 2:47the training class, but we're not actually live. So I know you but
- 2:53let them know. You tell them a little bit about miss little John.
- 2:58Well, I'm Latanya little John. I reside in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
- 3:04I am married to my husband, Rico Little John. We've been married twenty
- 3:08one years. Between the two of us, we have two children, Deonte's
- 3:15twenty eight and Deja is twenty four, and we have a two year old
- 3:20granddaughter, Kaylani. I'm an author, a podcaster, and also I'm a
- 3:29multitude of things. Am I influencer. So yeah, that that basically covers
- 3:36everything. So you do this in all kinds of parts. This got all
- 3:39kinds of stuff going on. I do, I do? Girl, Hey
- 3:44make it do? What to do? So my podcast sisters podcast is called
- 3:51the lad but Not to Not That is just powerful deceaded by itself. So
- 3:58you know, you got to come off and tell us what how did this
- 4:00come about? It's a phone now it's full of being Okay. So,
- 4:04actually, Delayed but Not Denied came from my book title. Um I wrote
- 4:11a book called Delayed, not but Not Denied and I wrote that book,
- 4:15UM, basically to say that sometimes we may be delayed in in what we're
- 4:25trying to do, where we're trying to go, m you know, things
- 4:30of that nature, but God never denies us. If it's meant for us,
- 4:32it'll be. So that's where the title came from. And you know
- 4:39what, that's so true and like we always want stuff on our timing,
- 4:44but I really think about what God's timing is, right, I can detested
- 4:49that in plenty ways right now, so me too, give us a little
- 4:54bit. You said down this your podcast originates from the book. So,
- 5:00now what's the book? Okay? So I wrote this book in twenty fourteen.
- 5:09I didn't publish this book until twenty eighteen. Um, the book originates
- 5:15from a multitude of things. I was adopted, UM, I was a
- 5:23teenage mom. I reconnected with my biological family. Um. Again, it's
- 5:30a multitude of things. UM. I tried to just lay my life on
- 5:35the line in a book. Okay, So, I guess is it main
- 5:43national foster care mom? It is? So, I guess this's my needs
- 5:47a lot to you. UM, my foster care experience didn't last that long.
- 5:55I got adopted at seventeen months old. So um, my foster care
- 6:00experience was traumatic but short. Okay, okay, so hey, God had
- 6:08a destiny. He knew what he was doing, so he's like, hey,
- 6:14right, what made you want to write your book? To late but
- 6:18not to night? So I met my biological family in twenty ten. Um
- 6:28I prayed to God that before myself or my mom, my biological bomb would
- 6:35leave this earth, to just let us see each other, just even if
- 6:40it was only once, let us see each other. That that was my
- 6:45heart's desire. And so um, God allowed me to hear her voice first
- 6:51March third, twenty ten, and um we we met later on in the
- 6:59year year. So that that was a part of why I wrote the book
- 7:05um my experience with me and my biological family. I spoke on being a
- 7:13teenage mother with the disability. I was born with the disability, and that
- 7:17goes back to my adoption. I was adopted. My mom put me up
- 7:23for adoption because she herself had a disability and she was a teenager and I
- 7:30had one that you know, needed some extra care that she couldn't give me.
- 7:35So she felt like to give me the life that she felt I deserved.
- 7:41She wanted to put me up for adoption. Yeah, okay, so
- 7:46oh we have a question and said, why did you become a podcast host?
- 7:49Oh, that's easily because Travida did it. That's another one of our
- 7:56sisters. I think you meet her plan either iron. So this friend and
- 8:03um we have been joined at the hip for the last thirty plus years.
- 8:07Um. I got her to write a book, she got me to do
- 8:11a podcast. So it's just that's that's our relationship, like an even exchange.
- 8:18That's so now you know I'm about books before commercial. My question is
- 8:26you have to doing two books that you would recommend to readers. Two books,
- 8:33okay, delayed but not denied. The Story of tory Um and Brutal
- 8:41courage Um is an anthology that I'm a part of that means the world to
- 8:48me too. So those are just two. There's a lot more that I
- 8:52would recommend, but those are just two. So we'll come back and ask
- 8:58you about two more. I'll you too, going to leave by so we're
- 9:01gonna take commercial break real quick, and you guys, we'll be right back
- 9:03with Latonia. Little John. You need to get your book reviews or do
- 9:13you want a little bit more exposure for your new book. Check us out
- 9:18at www dot sc book gallant Friends dot com or email us at sc book
- 9:28gallant Friends at gmail dot com. We have packages for all authors. Contact
- 9:35us. We're ready to read your new book. Yes, Iday, okay,
- 9:41so we are back and we have questions. Is popping through. So
- 9:46you have a question, I'm gonna go ahead and throw it out there for
- 9:48your girly Our question is what is your message to the world. Whoo um.
- 9:56My message to the world is be true to yourself, give give yourself
- 10:05the love that you are so freely given to other people. Love yourself,
- 10:09I mean love God first, but love yourself too. You know that that
- 10:16is very profound because even with me, I find myself giving in giving,
- 10:22and then I get to a point where I'm sitting in my bedroom. I'm
- 10:24like I'm empty, right, Like, okay, so what do we do
- 10:30now? So yes, we have to all have to learn how to love
- 10:33ourselves. Even the little thing we think of flaw maybe the most wonderful thing
- 10:37in God's eyes. So yes, great, love it, love it.
- 10:41Thank you. That was from me. You know, life is life is
- 10:46what you make it. I was born with a tough hand. I was
- 10:50born with spina bifida M hydrocephalus. I went to the hospital today because I
- 10:58wasn't feeling well and I found out that, Um, I have heart failure.
- 11:03So you know, no, no, no, it will stop you
- 11:07right there. They think you have heartfield, they think, no, you
- 11:11don't have that. You have powerful sisters behind you, and you got this.
- 11:22I will say this, even in everything that I go through, there's
- 11:26a testimony. So if God gave it to me, he's using me to
- 11:31help somebody else get through. So if I have it, I know that
- 11:37God carries me, So I'm not worried about it. I'll high high.
- 11:45So um, we're from we're country girls right South Carolina. We country.
- 11:52Y'all can't hear the GIA said? Then, so how what would you say?
- 12:00Is the easiest part of being a podcaster and the hardest part about being
- 12:05a podcaster. So we could do it, but you know, so the
- 12:11easiest part is signing up to do it, um, being and showing up
- 12:18for yourself. The hardest part is knowing that other people are watching you and
- 12:26you you know you you kind of get that nervousness and like, okay,
- 12:31can they tell if I miss up. Um. You know, if I
- 12:35stumble, you know, are they gonna say something? You know, things
- 12:39of that nature. Understand understand. So showing up. Yes, yes,
- 12:46that that is true. Showing up. So we are all wanting to invite
- 12:52individuals on our shows. So who would be your ideal guests? If if
- 13:00I can invite anybody in the world any well, you know what, you
- 13:03took that question to stepfather, You go ahead and take it. Anybody in
- 13:05the world. Let's give you. I'll be nice. Let's give you three
- 13:09people. Three people in the world. Michelle Obama? Okay, um Usher,
- 13:22because I love Usha. Okay um hm hell Obama. So let's bring
- 13:33it down from them, Michelle Obama. So the one thing that podcast is
- 13:35we have to be able to ask those questions. So what would you ask
- 13:39her? My first question would be, what is it like being in the
- 13:46White House as a black woman for eight years? Ooh ooh girl high Why
- 13:54that's a question. So now your second person was so your question for Ussher?
- 14:03M My question for Ussher is what what God your your longevity? He's
- 14:11been singing since he was nine or ten years old. He started on Star
- 14:16Search. So you know a lot of people don't know what star searches its
- 14:22Ed mc mahon YouTube. And but yeah, I would ask you know,
- 14:28how does he continue with his longevity with making music that people want to still
- 14:35hear? Okay, so you have one on person. So who would that
- 14:39third person be living or deceased? Does it matter? It does not matter.
- 14:50I would have to say, um, doctor Martin Luther King Jr.
- 14:54Oh, and what would be your question for him? If he I would
- 15:01want to know if he's disappointed with where we are as a people today.
- 15:07Oh oh that's oh God, that's a good question. Yeah. Questions.
- 15:16So you have a little bit question. Someone in the audio wants to know
- 15:20where do you see yourself in five years in the podcast world? Okay,
- 15:26because I believe in the power of the tongue, I believe that I'll be
- 15:31able to go into national in five years. I feel like my name will
- 15:37reach ears and places that my feet may never go. Ah great, great.
- 15:46So another thing I see. I'm looking at your bio and it says
- 15:50that you are a common creator. Yeah, tells a little bit about that.
- 15:56So I found out that Facebook, Instagram are willing to pay you for
- 16:03content. So I'm I'm an advocate for TikTok, and I love my TikTok
- 16:11videos. So I just started going on TikTok doing little random videos, um
- 16:18dances with my my daughter, and I just started sharing them and I get
- 16:23paid to do just do so okay, okay. So it was just the
- 16:33the the appeal of the larger audience and money to become a critical content creator.
- 16:41That and I like um, I like music, I like to dance,
- 16:45I like to um entertain if you will, okay. And I feel
- 16:55like there's so much negativity behind Facebook and what it is. It's the people,
- 17:03It's not Facebook. Facebook is just a platform, and I feel like
- 17:07it's time to bring fun into Facebook instead of all the negative energy that is
- 17:14being placed on a platform. I found my biological family on Facebook, So
- 17:18I can't say anything negative about Facebook. I totally understand because when we all
- 17:25were in the pandemic and we were sitting at home, it was while we
- 17:29had that's all we had, and we will be up there two o'clock in
- 17:33the morning just laughing at videos because we all needed that uplifting. So I've
- 17:37seen a couple of the videos with you and your daughter. I've seen it.
- 17:44I liked it the how do you become a podcaster? So I know
- 17:52the steps, I know what we signed up for. So how about you
- 17:56giving them a sneak peek so they can come and join the crew also,
- 18:00So excuse man, I'm I'm dealing with the coffin from all of this.
- 18:07But um, what I did was reach out to Miss Angela and um,
- 18:15I paid my ninety nine dollars a smile and she shows she shows me how
- 18:22to become better at this every day. Like it's it's not easy. Um,
- 18:30but if it's something that you really want to do, you'll step into
- 18:36it in a professional way and get it done. Yeah. Yeah, you're
- 18:40totally correct, And no, it's not easy. So we have somebody.
- 18:45Miss Scott wants to know who inspires you to keep going? Who inspires me?
- 18:51Um? Two point answered, my son and my granddaughter. They motivate
- 18:56me to keep going. I mean I had my son at sixteen and he's
- 19:02been my rock all all of his life. And so then he gave me
- 19:10my granddaughter almost three years ago, and um, she's just the sweetest I
- 19:18could eat up. But they they inspire me to want to be better,
- 19:22to want to live longer, to want to push on that. Yeah,
- 19:30that's the greatest inspirations you can ever get. All right, what is up
- 19:37next? Where can I see you? Give me the rundown and give everyone
- 19:44else to run down to wrap it up? About your show? How they
- 19:49can be Oh we got another question on there too, So that's a great
- 19:53question give us. Like if I would want to be on your show,
- 19:59how would I? How? What qualified to me to be on your full
- 20:03show? Um? What is the basis of your show? Like my show
- 20:08is about books and book reviews, but not denied. What is the basis
- 20:15of it? So I can see if I can be a great dance for
- 20:18you. Absolutely you can, um, delay but not deny the podcast.
- 20:25Um, my platform is free. UM it's I'm not just touching on one
- 20:33thing. Um. Everybody has a story to tell. Your story may not
- 20:37look like mine. Um, mine may not look like yours. But if
- 20:41it's something that you want to share with the world that you think the world
- 20:47needs to hear, I'm here for you. I mean, that's that's that's
- 20:52what makes my heart happy. I'm a talker, so I like to be
- 20:56able to engage with people about different type fix and nothing's off the table.
- 21:03All right, So the question that is here for you says, what are
- 21:07you currently working on as an author? Um? I just finished up two
- 21:14anthologies, Silently Hurting Inside with Miss Angela and Pierced Purpose with Miss Tanya thephrydis
- 21:29Okay, okay, so I know that the first one with Miss Angela,
- 21:33I'm not mistaken. That's already out correct. It is it is, y'all
