Latest / Michelle Explains Anime, Poorly / Given Ep. 7- Tumbling Dice
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. I guess back again, which
- 0:05Speaker 1: I guess is good because it means I'm still alive
- 0:07Speaker 1: at least as of when I am, you know, doing this,
- 0:11Speaker 1: so hopefully still when you're listening. Yeah, I don't know
- 0:14Speaker 1: why I would not be alive, but you never know.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Things happen, and I'm terrified of everything. So that anyway,
- 0:22Speaker 1: today we're going to talk about Given episode seven. I'd
- 0:26Speaker 1: love to tell you about what's going on in the
- 0:29Speaker 1: current season of anime, but unfortunately I am so stressed
- 0:32Speaker 1: that I'm not caught up on anything, which sucks, so
- 0:37Speaker 1: I hope that you're enjoying it. I'm at least two
- 0:39Speaker 1: episodes behind on like every show except I think for
- 0:42Speaker 1: Shibo Yugi. You know the one about the girl playing
- 0:45Speaker 1: the death games. I think I've caught up on that
- 0:47Speaker 1: and that's been weird. But everything else, yeah, not, so
- 0:54Speaker 1: it sucks. It really sucks, but one day I'll figure
- 0:58Speaker 1: it all out, I guess. Anyway, let's just talk about
- 1:02Speaker 1: Given like we're supposed to. So episode seven is called
- 1:07Speaker 1: Tumbling Dice, and that is named after a Rolling Stone song.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I think at least it was the lead single from
- 1:17Speaker 1: their album that they released in nineteen seventy two called
- 1:20Speaker 1: Exile on Main Street Yay, and it was also covered
- 1:25Speaker 1: by some people and stuff like Linda Rons that in
- 1:29Speaker 1: case you for some reason know that version, I don't
- 1:31Speaker 1: really know. I don't know if I know this song.
- 1:34Speaker 1: I think I do, but I didn't know it's super well.
- 1:37Speaker 1: So I was like reading the lyrics and listening to
- 1:39Speaker 1: it and going like, huh, does this relate to this
- 1:41Speaker 1: show at all or anything? Yeah, I mean not really,
- 1:45Speaker 1: sort of, but not really. So the song is about
- 1:49Speaker 1: some guy who likes to not be in committed relationships
- 1:53Speaker 1: and like sleep with lots of women, I think. And
- 1:57Speaker 1: also he is probably in takem gambling because he's got
- 2:01Speaker 1: gambling nicknames and stuff like that, and he's talking in
- 2:07Speaker 1: gambling metaphors, so I'm assuming he's into gambling as well
- 2:12Speaker 1: as having sex with lots of women. So that is
- 2:16Speaker 1: what the song is about, and that has nothing to
- 2:18Speaker 1: do with this episode at all. But the title Tumbling Dice,
- 2:23Speaker 1: you know, alludes to gambling, and there is a gamble
- 2:27Speaker 1: happening at the end of this episode, which I guess
- 2:29Speaker 1: we'll talk about when we get there, so it kind
- 2:32Speaker 1: of works not perfect, but kind of so yay I think. Anyway,
- 2:38Speaker 1: if you remember from the end of the last episode,
- 2:41Speaker 1: uino Yama had been lying on the landing, you know,
- 2:44Speaker 1: in the stairwell, and Mafoyu had just told him like
- 2:47Speaker 1: a bunch of really important things about himself, like that
- 2:51Speaker 1: he had someone that he really really cared about, and
- 2:54Speaker 1: this made uino Yama realize that he was jealous, which
- 2:58Speaker 1: was a really big deal because the first time that
- 3:01Speaker 1: uino Yama has actually, I was gonna say, verbalized, but
- 3:06Speaker 1: he didn't say it out loud, but the same thing
- 3:07Speaker 1: basically kind of mentally verbalized that he has some sort
- 3:11Speaker 1: of feelings from off of you, so super important, and
- 3:14Speaker 1: it's super important that it's jealousy, I guess. So that's
- 3:17Speaker 1: where we ended. We don't start there because that would
- 3:20Speaker 1: be kind of weird. So we fade in on a
- 3:24Speaker 1: window and there's like a tree outside that's out of
- 3:26Speaker 1: focus because it's past the window, and leaves are kind
- 3:29Speaker 1: of blowing on it. There's a nice breeze, and we
- 3:32Speaker 1: hear a violin, and then we see someone's feet wearing
- 3:35Speaker 1: white shoes and kind of the bottoms of their pants
- 3:37Speaker 1: which are great standing and they like shift position, and
- 3:42Speaker 1: we hear Kaji say I thought love would be softer,
- 3:45Speaker 1: sweeter and kinder. We see that guy that he lives with,
- 3:49Speaker 1: like playing violin obviously, and Kaji is standing in the
- 3:54Speaker 1: doorway holding a violin, just looking stunned, and we get
- 3:59Speaker 1: a close on his like really stunned looking eye, and
- 4:02Speaker 1: we hear him say, I found out with my first
- 4:05Speaker 1: love that those thoughts were just a happy delusion. Falling
- 4:08Speaker 1: in love with someone is much more violent, like having
- 4:11Speaker 1: your flesh ripped apart. Alrighty. We cut back to the
- 4:15Speaker 1: window and the wind is picked up and the tree
- 4:17Speaker 1: is blowing more, and then we go to the opening theme. Yay.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Back from the opening, we cut to a Dutch angle
- 4:23Speaker 1: of the door to the you know number one practice
- 4:27Speaker 1: bass room, like from the hallway, which is a weird
- 4:29Speaker 1: angle to go to, and we hear a song ending
- 4:33Speaker 1: and we got to haddo ki. He exhales and kind
- 4:36Speaker 1: of blushes slightly and he's like that was pretty good, right.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Uoyama says, honestly, I like it better than before. He's
- 4:43Speaker 1: like right, and then he turns Akihiko Kaji like pokes
- 4:48Speaker 1: how do key in the side with his drumstick and
- 4:50Speaker 1: is like, yay, how do ki san? Yay? How dock.
- 4:53Speaker 1: He shrinks back and covers himself with his arms, and
- 4:55Speaker 1: he's like, that's sexual harassment. Dammit, Yeah no, that's not
- 4:59Speaker 1: sex harassment. When we get to sexual harassment, I'll let
- 5:03Speaker 1: you know. Anyway, we see Kaiji pick up a bottle
- 5:06Speaker 1: of water and he drinks from it, and this takes
- 5:08Speaker 1: way longer than I would expect, like we hold on
- 5:11Speaker 1: him for too long for some reason. And then he
- 5:14Speaker 1: puts the water down and looks up, and uino Yama
- 5:18Speaker 1: is standing kind of to the left looking away, and
- 5:21Speaker 1: Mafou is at the back of the room facing the
- 5:24Speaker 1: back wall, like away from everyone. It's just kind of
- 5:26Speaker 1: an awkward, tense situation for some reason, and Kaji thinks
- 5:30Speaker 1: Mafou hasn't been able to write a single line of
- 5:33Speaker 1: his song since then, though, I mean that's to be
- 5:37Speaker 1: expected for real, he's never written anything before. Mafo you
- 5:41Speaker 1: bends down and gets a bottle of water, and we
- 5:45Speaker 1: hear uino Yama say, hey, Mafu you. Mafu turns and
- 5:49Speaker 1: uino Yama continues, are you actually practicing cheese? Dude? Huddocky
- 5:54Speaker 1: is like, what the fuck? And he turns and he's like, hey, whoa.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Uino Yama continues, what the hell was that? How doak?
- 6:00Speaker 1: He's like, now now, wu know Yama continues, are you
- 6:04Speaker 1: actually serious about this or not? He starts to walk
- 6:06Speaker 1: over to Mafau. How dook He like runs over at
- 6:09Speaker 1: this point and Mafu you says, I am wu know
- 6:12Speaker 1: Yama's like, huh. At this point, had dook? He grabs
- 6:15Speaker 1: Wuoyama by the shoulders and like pulls him back like
- 6:18Speaker 1: he thinks that, like I don't know, uino Yama's gonna
- 6:20Speaker 1: attack maf for you, and he's like, hey, Kaji is
- 6:25Speaker 1: just sitting there watching all of this, and uino Yama's like,
- 6:28Speaker 1: if you aren't serious? And at that point, how do
- 6:30Speaker 1: He puts his hand over uino Yama's mouth and is
- 6:32Speaker 1: like stop away. He like whips him around so he's
- 6:35Speaker 1: facing him and says, don't just go off without letting
- 6:38Speaker 1: him respond. Don't corner him like that. Besides, you've been
- 6:41Speaker 1: acting weird too lately. Oo Yama gasps and looks like
- 6:45Speaker 1: comically shocked, which also makes Hook look kind of comically shocked.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And they're both like shocked into silence. Now at this point,
- 6:53Speaker 1: Kaji like collaps and he's like, let's call it for today.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Everyone kind of looks stressed about this, but they're quiet,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and Kaji thinks, if this goes any further, our band's
- 7:04Speaker 1: gonna fall apart. Just tell Ueya Yama to not be
- 7:08Speaker 1: so mean. I don't know. Next we see kind of
- 7:11Speaker 1: a flashback of uino Yama thinking of him off what
- 7:13Speaker 1: you're saying, you see, I had someone I really truly loved.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Fuck ou way, come on? He lets out like a
- 7:21Speaker 1: little exhale, and then we cut two. Kaji's bike parked
- 7:25Speaker 1: in I don't know, like an inside place somewhere, and
- 7:29Speaker 1: we hear a door open, I thought, but actually with
- 7:32Speaker 1: something falling, you know into the little spots where the
- 7:36Speaker 1: things come out of the vending machine. Kaji and uino
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yama are at a vending machine in the parking garage,
- 7:42Speaker 1: I guess, and Kaji holds out like a bottle of
- 7:45Speaker 1: water to Uya Yama. He's like, here, Uaina Yama, doesn't,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you know, reach out for it or take it or anything.
- 7:50Speaker 1: He just stands there, hair over his eyes so we
- 7:53Speaker 1: can't see his expression, and Kaji kind of looks like
- 7:56Speaker 1: he's gonna put the water down, and instead he just
- 7:58Speaker 1: slams it into the side. O. We Knowoyama's face and
- 8:01Speaker 1: he's like, it's on me. Fuck Kaji. O. We know
- 8:04Speaker 1: Yama's like thanks. Now we see them both drinking their
- 8:08Speaker 1: respective beverages. Kaji has like a can of coffee, and
- 8:12Speaker 1: they both stop and sigh and exhale simultaneously and just
- 8:17Speaker 1: kind of sit there in silence, and we can hear
- 8:19Speaker 1: a car drive by. It's getting dark, and Kaji finally says, hey,
- 8:24Speaker 1: you seem pretty worn out lately. What's going on? You
- 8:28Speaker 1: can't seem to concentrate at all. You're in no position
- 8:31Speaker 1: to lecture others. Yeah, I really like Kaji. There's silence again,
- 8:35Speaker 1: and then Kaji continues, I never figured you to be
- 8:38Speaker 1: the moody type. Uo Yama's like yeah. Kaiji kind of
- 8:43Speaker 1: glances at him, and then he looks away, and he's like, so,
- 8:46Speaker 1: I'm just gonna come out and say it. Did something
- 8:48Speaker 1: happen between you and moth will you? Uino Yama's jaw
- 8:52Speaker 1: tends its slightly, and Kaji continues, I'm just kidding. Then
- 8:56Speaker 1: he looks over and sees that uino Yama is blushing
- 8:59Speaker 1: and trying not to panic and making like little noises
- 9:02Speaker 1: like he wants to scream, but he can't scream right
- 9:04Speaker 1: here because that would be really bad, and like Kaji
- 9:07Speaker 1: kind of like smiles at him, like, oh my god,
- 9:10Speaker 1: what the fuck is happening type of smile, and then
- 9:12Speaker 1: he looks away, kind of holding this weird smile, and
- 9:15Speaker 1: then he looks back over and then he says, wait,
- 9:18Speaker 1: what did you already put your hands on him? Ouinoyama,
- 9:21Speaker 1: who is still blushing at this point, says what. Kachi's like,
- 9:26Speaker 1: I always thought you were a late bloomer. Ouinoyama says, hey,
- 9:30Speaker 1: what the fuck does that mean? Wait? What do you
- 9:32Speaker 1: even think happened? Put my hands on him? Late bloomer?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Kaji's like, what do I think happens? Do you even
- 9:39Speaker 1: realize what your face looks like right now? Oh iino
- 9:43Speaker 1: Yama kind of slams his hands onto his cheeks and
- 9:45Speaker 1: he's like, what does it look like? Kachi says, your
- 9:49Speaker 1: face basically says I'm in love with Mafulu. There's like
- 9:53Speaker 1: a thing sound. We cut to black, and then we
- 9:55Speaker 1: pan down from the black section and Uino. Yama is
- 9:59Speaker 1: just laying face down on the ground in the parking garage,
- 10:02Speaker 1: on the stomach, in the nothingness, while Kaji just stands
- 10:06Speaker 1: there over him. Ah, somebody had to say it. We
- 10:11Speaker 1: see Kaji now from the reflection of his motorcycle helmets
- 10:15Speaker 1: and he says, Uisama, on your feet. He pulls them up,
- 10:19Speaker 1: get a grip. We see the sky briefly and there's
- 10:22Speaker 1: a shooting star and then we hear another car pass
- 10:25Speaker 1: by and it's quiet again, and we know. Yama says
- 10:30Speaker 1: I I his hair is over his eyes. He's still blushing.
- 10:35Speaker 1: He's kind of slouching. I Ugh. Kaji says yeah. Unayama
- 10:43Speaker 1: looks up at Kaji like kind of scared, and he says,
- 10:48Speaker 1: is there something wrong with me? Oh God, I'm sorry.
- 10:52Speaker 1: We know Yama. Kaji is quiet for a second and
- 10:55Speaker 1: he says, no, O know. Yama's eyes widen and Kaji
- 10:59Speaker 1: can take news. What's wrong about it that the person
- 11:03Speaker 1: you like is a guy You're only supposed to be
- 11:06Speaker 1: into girls or something like that. Ou No. Yama is
- 11:09Speaker 1: kind of just looking down and he's sweating a little bit.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Kaji continues, don't worry, O, we know Yama drinks some water.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Kaji says, that's what I thought about myself. But I've
- 11:20Speaker 1: been with guys too. Oh, I know Yama spit takes
- 11:22Speaker 1: the water and looks at Kaji, and Kaji kind of
- 11:25Speaker 1: gives him, like almost the thumbs up and says it
- 11:28Speaker 1: was a long time ago though. Humhm oh, we know
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yama looks kind of shocked. Kaji continues, Or are you
- 11:34Speaker 1: gonna say there's something wrong with me too? Ah? He smiles.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Either way, Mafu is writing the song because you asked
- 11:42Speaker 1: him to. O. We know Yama thinks about grabbing Mafu's
- 11:45Speaker 1: collar and yelling like really nice things at him after
- 11:48Speaker 1: you know that whole thing with h and Agi and
- 11:50Speaker 1: he ran away and all that stuff. Kaji says, you
- 11:53Speaker 1: owe it to him to be a little more supportive.
- 11:55Speaker 1: He starts to walk over to the motorcycle. We know,
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yama says, but I I really don't know. Is it
- 12:04Speaker 1: okay to admit I have these feelings? Oh? Kaiji turns
- 12:08Speaker 1: back and looks at ouyin Oyama. Let's go Oinoyama just says, okay.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Now we see the exterior of what I assume is
- 12:18Speaker 1: the gym. It's kind of like a domed top. I
- 12:20Speaker 1: drew it because I wasn't really sure that it's a dome.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I'm still not sure what that shape is, but it's
- 12:26Speaker 1: kind of dome. Like. We hear a couple of bursts
- 12:29Speaker 1: of really fast guitar. It sounds kind of flamencoy, like
- 12:33Speaker 1: really fast and kind of Spanish, with like some stops
- 12:37Speaker 1: in there and fuck ups. If this is MafA you,
- 12:40Speaker 1: this is not good. We see now Mafo you sitting
- 12:43Speaker 1: alone in the stairwell and he takes his hands off
- 12:46Speaker 1: his guitar and he just kind of stares at the ground. Yeah,
- 12:50Speaker 1: this is too fast. This kid should not be learning
- 12:52Speaker 1: super overly technical guitar stuff. Just give him some like
- 12:56Speaker 1: really easy shit, some chords that aren't hard. He shouldn't
- 13:00Speaker 1: be learning like all sorts of like lead guitar RIfS,
- 13:03Speaker 1: because there's two guitars in this spand so he doesn't
- 13:06Speaker 1: have to be a lead guitarist. He could be a
- 13:08Speaker 1: rhythm guitarist. But I digress. Let us move on. He's
- 13:12Speaker 1: upset because he's having trouble, and I understand because he's
- 13:15Speaker 1: trying to play really hard stuff for some reason. Now
- 13:18Speaker 1: we see the two ten class sign and then we
- 13:22Speaker 1: cut to Kasai walking in the classroom and we hear
- 13:25Speaker 1: a voice say ayano. Kasai turns back and she's like, yeah,
- 13:29Speaker 1: there's this girl. I think she has a ponytail, and
- 13:31Speaker 1: she's got two big trash bags that she's carrying, and
- 13:34Speaker 1: she's like, could you take these? Kasai says what. The
- 13:38Speaker 1: girl's like, Oh, come on, your next class is in
- 13:40Speaker 1: another room, isn't it. It'll be on your way. Kassi
- 13:43Speaker 1: is like, geez at this. Winnoyama's arm cuts into the
- 13:47Speaker 1: scene and reaches for one of the trash bags and
- 13:49Speaker 1: he's like, I'll help. Kasai turns and it's like huh.
- 13:53Speaker 1: She looks shocked. Winoyama says, they're pretty heavy. Right now,
- 13:58Speaker 1: we see mafuy walking down the hallway like all the way.
- 14:01Speaker 1: In the background and super close but out of focus
- 14:05Speaker 1: is Etaya and Ueki and they're looking at something outside
- 14:09Speaker 1: the window, Andki says, come on, let's go. Etaia is
- 14:12Speaker 1: like why though, aren't you curious. Oki turns and he's
- 14:16Speaker 1: like sato Itaia says, hey, come look, they were bad.
- 14:21Speaker 1: We cut to Uinoyama and Kasai as they put the
- 14:23Speaker 1: trash bags in the trash, which is just kind of
- 14:26Speaker 1: like an area with lots of trash bags. I thought
- 14:28Speaker 1: maybe there should be a dumpster here, but there was not,
- 14:31Speaker 1: just bags of trash, and it confused me. Ouinoyama says,
- 14:35Speaker 1: all right, now, let's head back. He looks over at
- 14:37Speaker 1: Kasai and we realize that she is about to cry.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Itaya says, do I sends a plot twist, not the
- 14:45Speaker 1: one you think. Ki says, hey, stop being a creep.
- 14:48Speaker 1: We cut back to Kasai looking down now, tears falling
- 14:52Speaker 1: out of her eyes, and she says, why are you
- 14:55Speaker 1: being so nice to me? I said something so awful
- 14:58Speaker 1: to you. Yama is kind of just looking around everywhere,
- 15:02Speaker 1: freaked out, not sure what he's supposed to do with
- 15:04Speaker 1: his hands, and he says, huh wait, what something awful
- 15:10Speaker 1: Kasa's like about Sato kum Uno. Yama says, oh, Casa continues,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I knew it was petty of me to bring up
- 15:19Speaker 1: those rumors, so I thought you'd never speak to me again.
- 15:23Speaker 1: Now she's just full on crying, and Uino Yama says,
- 15:26Speaker 1: I mean it was kind of petty. CAUs I gasps.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Ouna Yama puts his hand on the back of his
- 15:32Speaker 1: neck and says, but I guess I'm glad I found
- 15:34Speaker 1: out or something, so like we're even okay. He pats
- 15:40Speaker 1: her on the head. We see that mafuy is watching this,
- 15:43Speaker 1: and I don't know what his facial expression means. It's
- 15:47Speaker 1: not really blank, it's not angry or upset. Maybe it's
- 15:53Speaker 1: a little sad. I don't really know, but it's kind
- 15:59Speaker 1: of I don't know. I don't know what I'm looking
- 16:02Speaker 1: at here. Anyway, Itaya puts his arm around Mafou and
- 16:05Speaker 1: kind of like drags him in close and is like, seriously,
- 16:08Speaker 1: why is Uinoyama so popular? I actually do not know.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Mafuyu's like, yeah, Itaya says that jerk's never even thinking
- 16:18Speaker 1: of anything. Mafuu says, yeah, he's just kind of staring
- 16:22Speaker 1: at uaio yama uio Yama kun is really genuinely kind
- 16:26Speaker 1: to everyone. Okay, that is not what I thought he
- 16:30Speaker 1: was gonna take from that. That's well, that's a perfect read. Actually,
- 16:35Speaker 1: that could have been jealousy there, but it wasn't. It
- 16:39Speaker 1: was Oh, he's just a really nice guy trying to
- 16:42Speaker 1: make Kasai feel better. Fucking Mafu, you just really doing
- 16:47Speaker 1: well with the emotional intelligence, not only him, but Kaji.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I mean we've said that before though, but these these
- 16:53Speaker 1: two dudes are like super super good with that stuff. Anyway,
- 16:57Speaker 1: Itaya says, oh yeah, MafA He's like hmmm. Ittaia continues,
- 17:02Speaker 1: you guys are putting on a live show. We'll come
- 17:04Speaker 1: see you guys right Weki's like, hey, Ittaia says, we
- 17:08Speaker 1: both love music. Break a leg. Mafau looks kind of
- 17:12Speaker 1: shocked and he's like, okay. Etaia continues, and let's play
- 17:16Speaker 1: basketball during lunch again. Sometime we'll be waiting. Mafu's like, okay,
- 17:22Speaker 1: Etaya says, but man I can't wait. Mafu, you says,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I see. So people really do go to shows to
- 17:29Speaker 1: listen to people perform. What Ittaia pats him on the
- 17:34Speaker 1: back and it's like, of course they do. Mafu, you thinks,
- 17:38Speaker 1: what is it? I want to tell those people. Okay,
- 17:42Speaker 1: let me just stop right there, because I have thoughts
- 17:44Speaker 1: about that. So when I first was going through this,
- 17:49Speaker 1: I was like, what do you mean you don't know
- 17:51Speaker 1: that that happens? Like you've seen bands before, you work
- 17:55Speaker 1: at a live venue. Of course people are going to
- 17:59Speaker 1: listen to people perform. When they go to shows. What
- 18:02Speaker 1: are you talking about? And then I thought about it
- 18:03Speaker 1: a little bit and I was like, well, maybe he's
- 18:06Speaker 1: not looking at it like that. Maybe the only time
- 18:09Speaker 1: he has ever gone to a show where he wasn't
- 18:11Speaker 1: working was because he was supporting someone on stage, but
- 18:16Speaker 1: not so much for the music, Like he's not really
- 18:19Speaker 1: a fan. He's just like probably the person's boyfriend because
- 18:22Speaker 1: the whole guitar thing and his boyfriend dying. So it's
- 18:26Speaker 1: just not in his mind that someone would just go
- 18:28Speaker 1: to a show to listen to music just because they
- 18:32Speaker 1: like doing that, which is so interesting to me as
- 18:35Speaker 1: a person who only goes to shows because I like
- 18:38Speaker 1: the music and to support people who are not people
- 18:41Speaker 1: I'm in a relationship with, but mostly to listen to music.
- 18:45Speaker 1: So I thought that was really interesting. I don't know
- 18:48Speaker 1: if you will or if that's what that means, So
- 18:52Speaker 1: who knows. Maybe you're listening to me talk about this
- 18:54Speaker 1: and you're like, I don't even know what you just said,
- 18:57Speaker 1: And to that, I say same. Moving on, we see
- 19:02Speaker 1: the exterior of I think the practice space at night.
- 19:05Speaker 1: They have changed the exterior shot that they use for
- 19:08Speaker 1: the practice base. Now it's closer to the door than
- 19:11Speaker 1: just the whole building, so I get confused again. And
- 19:14Speaker 1: inside we hear the end of a guitar chord like
- 19:18Speaker 1: ringing out, because why would we hear more than that?
- 19:22Speaker 1: And we see how do Ki, Unoyama and Kaji all
- 19:25Speaker 1: staring like pretty surprised. Mafu you size? We see that
- 19:30Speaker 1: it is eight fifteen to Kaji says, Mafu's gotten better.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Kaji's like, he seriously just improves out of nowhere. Huh
- 19:39Speaker 1: ex position, let me hear it. Please don't tell me whatever.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Mafou at this point is sitting on the floor. He
- 19:46Speaker 1: has knees to his chest and he's looking down and
- 19:48Speaker 1: I thought he was real sad about something, but no,
- 19:51Speaker 1: he's just sleeping as you do during band rehearsal. I
- 19:55Speaker 1: guess how do Ki's like? And he's out like a light,
- 19:58Speaker 1: just like that. We see uino Yama drinking some water
- 20:02Speaker 1: and Kaji walks towards the door and he's like, guess
- 20:05Speaker 1: this is a good time for a break. How you
- 20:07Speaker 1: let's have a smoke? How dook? He's like, yeah, okay.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Kaji to uin Oyama says, keep an eye on that,
- 20:14Speaker 1: and he points to Mafou. Uinayama's like sure, hawk, he
- 20:18Speaker 1: says what and they leave. Once they are gone, uino
- 20:22Speaker 1: Yama looks at sleeping Mafou and kind of scowls because
- 20:27Speaker 1: he can't have normal reactions to how much he likes him,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I guess. He walks over and sits down on the
- 20:34Speaker 1: floor next to him and thinks, come to think of it,
- 20:37Speaker 1: the first time we met, he was sleeping like this too.
- 20:40Speaker 1: You can practically see the z's above his head. At
- 20:42Speaker 1: this point, Mafou falls onto Uinoyama's shoulder and uino Yama
- 20:46Speaker 1: kind of jumps. He looks over at Mafou sleeping on
- 20:50Speaker 1: his shoulder, and his heart starts beating loudly, and he
- 20:55Speaker 1: blushes and turns away and like puts his hand over
- 20:57Speaker 1: his mouth and he's like, no, wait, my heart told
- 21:00Speaker 1: didn't just skip a beat right now. He kind of
- 21:02Speaker 1: pokes Mafou in the arm and thinks he is actually asleep, right.
- 21:07Speaker 1: He then does something that you should not do to
- 21:11Speaker 1: a sleeping person, which is he like takes his hand,
- 21:14Speaker 1: he like picks up his hand and just starts looking
- 21:16Speaker 1: at Mafuyu's palm for some reason, and he thinks his fingers.
- 21:22Speaker 1: He's popped some new blisters. Mafuyu's fingertips are like kind
- 21:26Speaker 1: of red. They don't really look like they have blisters
- 21:28Speaker 1: on them, but hey, what are you gonna do? We know?
- 21:30Speaker 1: Yama continues looking at his hand and like starts touching
- 21:34Speaker 1: the tip of his left pointer finger, which makes sense
- 21:37Speaker 1: because you know that is the hand that would have
- 21:39Speaker 1: blisters on them, because it's the hand that like touches
- 21:41Speaker 1: and holds down the strings. But also, you gotta stop
- 21:45Speaker 1: doing this, this is weird. He thinks his fingertips are
- 21:48Speaker 1: actually callousing like a prose. I guess I used to
- 21:52Speaker 1: be like this too, And we hear mafu You say
- 21:56Speaker 1: we know, Yama gulps, Yeah, dude, yeah, Mafu You continues,
- 22:01Speaker 1: oh we know Yama. Khan oh Na. Yama doesn't do
- 22:04Speaker 1: anything for a second, and he pulls his hand back
- 22:06Speaker 1: and he's like, you're you're MafA You says, I'm awake.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Also like, how long was he awake watching we know
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yama touch his hand anyway? U, Yama says, right, Mafuy's like, sorry,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I haven't gotten anywhere at all of the song yet.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Unayama looks a little bit shocked, and then he kind
- 22:26Speaker 1: of looks away and he's like, well, there's still time,
- 22:29Speaker 1: so just keep at it. Mafiau says okay O. No
- 22:33Speaker 1: Yama thinks, honestly, I'm scared of this song he's gonna
- 22:36Speaker 1: come up with. I don't want to hear a song
- 22:38Speaker 1: about Mafu you being in love with someone else. Fuck.
- 22:43Speaker 1: We cut to outside of the door and we can
- 22:46Speaker 1: see Mafu you through like the window on the door,
- 22:48Speaker 1: and Haddokei is looking in because they're outside on the
- 22:52Speaker 1: bench smoking and he says, oh, Mafu's awake. He stands
- 22:56Speaker 1: should we hit back? He kind of like starts to
- 22:59Speaker 1: walk towards the door, and Kaji just grabs him by
- 23:01Speaker 1: the wrist and stops him, and he's like, uh what.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Kaji pulls him back down and says, have another smoke
- 23:08Speaker 1: with me. Aiji's so fucking cool man, how dock He's like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm a lot of cigarettes though. Kajis just sitting there
- 23:16Speaker 1: staring forwards with a cigarette in his mouth, and he thinks,
- 23:21Speaker 1: falling in love with someone means you have to expose
- 23:23Speaker 1: the softest, most fragile parts of yourself to them, otherwise
- 23:27Speaker 1: it won't work out. We see now a hand holding
- 23:30Speaker 1: a stick or a bow I couldn't really tell. With
- 23:34Speaker 1: another hand caressing that hand's wrist. What And we hear
- 23:38Speaker 1: Kaji say being touched sends you spiraling into delirium. We
- 23:43Speaker 1: see a hand kind of on the cheek of that
- 23:45Speaker 1: guy that Kaji lives with his face, and then that
- 23:49Speaker 1: guy puts his hand over the hand on his face,
- 23:51Speaker 1: you know, kind of like holding it, yay. Kaji continues,
- 23:56Speaker 1: The slightest hint of their nails on your skin rips
- 23:58Speaker 1: it open, looks up and it looks like maybe this
- 24:03Speaker 1: guy is on top of him as they're caressing each other.
- 24:07Speaker 1: And Kaji continues, and if they try to crush you
- 24:10Speaker 1: with any ill intent, it's fatal. Now we just see
- 24:13Speaker 1: the bottom right corner of his face and he continues,
- 24:17Speaker 1: we know ya must love is a bomb that has
- 24:19Speaker 1: the potential to annihilate the whole band. Fuck. I mean,
- 24:23Speaker 1: that's pretty extreme. We go the eye catch Yay. Back
- 24:27Speaker 1: from the eye catch, we see a sign over a
- 24:30Speaker 1: door that says music room and here violin yay. Kaji
- 24:34Speaker 1: is standing in the doorway violin in hand, looking into
- 24:38Speaker 1: the room. So I guess we're back to where we
- 24:39Speaker 1: were at the beginning of the episode, and we get
- 24:41Speaker 1: a voiceover that says, while I was still trying to
- 24:44Speaker 1: compete for first or second in the national competitions, there
- 24:47Speaker 1: was a genius who kept whipping up the dreams of
- 24:49Speaker 1: all kinds of talented junior competitors. We see, of course,
- 24:53Speaker 1: it's that guy that he lives with playing the violin,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and he's on the far side of the room and
- 24:57Speaker 1: Kaji continues and taking first place in international competitions. The
- 25:02Speaker 1: guy stops and looks at Kaji. Kaji continues, his name
- 25:06Speaker 1: was Murata Ugetsu. Otsu says, who are you? Oh, you're
- 25:10Speaker 1: the guy who plays second in the competition the other day, right,
- 25:13Speaker 1: you seem like a really delicate person. What your broms
- 25:18Speaker 1: was excellent. Kaji looks stunned, and the voiceover continues, it
- 25:23Speaker 1: was the summer of my first year in high school. Well,
- 25:26Speaker 1: we cut to Ugetsu walking down the hall with like
- 25:29Speaker 1: a bag over his shoulder, and he looks back and
- 25:31Speaker 1: Kaji walks up, and it continues. Ugetsu and just transferred
- 25:35Speaker 1: to our school, and I became his first friend. We
- 25:37Speaker 1: see him looking into an open violin case. He continues
- 25:41Speaker 1: I was completely floored by his talent, and because of that,
- 25:44Speaker 1: I abandoned the violin. He closes the case. Wait wait,
- 25:48Speaker 1: he abandoned the violin. Wasn't he walking with a violin
- 25:51Speaker 1: in college? Did he just take it up again later
- 25:55Speaker 1: or something I don't understand. Also, don't give up on
- 25:58Speaker 1: your dreams for your love interests. But whatever. We see
- 26:00Speaker 1: Ugetsu talking to two guys in a classroom, and Kaji
- 26:04Speaker 1: voiceover continues, it's not like Mudata. Ugetsu was detached from reality,
- 26:08Speaker 1: not in the least. He had emotions like everyone else.
- 26:11Speaker 1: He's just watching him laugh from the doorway. But the
- 26:14Speaker 1: size of both his heart and his emotions was far
- 26:16Speaker 1: more overwhelming than most. I hope his heart literally wasn't bigger,
- 26:20Speaker 1: because that's dangerous. We see Kaji sitting in an empty
- 26:24Speaker 1: classroom watching Ugetsu play, and Kaji continues, it was like
- 26:29Speaker 1: just the act of being alive pain to him. Same happiness, sadness, pain,
- 26:35Speaker 1: They were all amplified exponentially for Ogetsu, and he kept
- 26:38Speaker 1: it all buried far deeper than a normal person would.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Kaji stands and walks over to him. Ugetsu is like
- 26:45Speaker 1: packing up his violin and he's telling Kaji something, and
- 26:48Speaker 1: then all of a sudden, Kaji just out of nowhere,
- 26:50Speaker 1: it just hugs him, and then he holds him a
- 26:53Speaker 1: little bit tighter, and the voiceover continues. I was insanely
- 26:57Speaker 1: jealous of him for that, but at the same time
- 27:00Speaker 1: time I pitied him for it. O Getsu looks shocked,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and then his eyes soften and he reaches up his
- 27:08Speaker 1: hands like kind of a round Kaji, and then he
- 27:10Speaker 1: like pauses and they like shake slightly for a second,
- 27:14Speaker 1: and then he hugs Kaji back. Kaji's eyes widen. It
- 27:18Speaker 1: continues when his hands touched my skin through my clothes,
- 27:22Speaker 1: O Getsu tightens his grip. There was so much tension.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It was like I'd been pierced by needles. I wanted
- 27:29Speaker 1: to rip all the needles out, strip him naked and sully.
- 27:32Speaker 1: That sound what people are so weird? Okay, hold on,
- 27:38Speaker 1: let me stop there. I have so many things I
- 27:40Speaker 1: want to say. I don't know where to start. First
- 27:42Speaker 1: of all, was that a banana fish reference? I'm pretty
- 27:46Speaker 1: sure that was a banana fish reference. Again, knowing that
- 27:49Speaker 1: Amongica was influenced by banana fish, having that moment where
- 27:54Speaker 1: like the character is being hugged, and the other character
- 27:58Speaker 1: doesn't know what to do with their hands and then
- 28:00Speaker 1: finally hugs them. I'm sure that's been done thousands of
- 28:03Speaker 1: millions of times, but I still think it was a
- 28:06Speaker 1: Banana fits reference. So yay, we did it. There should
- 28:09Speaker 1: be a bell that I can ring somewhere anyway. The
- 28:12Speaker 1: other thing is this doesn't seem like a healthy relationship, guys.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm just not sure what's going on with the way
- 28:20Speaker 1: Kaji feels about who gets to like, he likes him,
- 28:23Speaker 1: he envies him, he stopped playing violin for him. This
- 28:29Speaker 1: doesn't really sound healthy, especially because Kagi has already said
- 28:32Speaker 1: that like it was painful and shit and love is painful,
- 28:35Speaker 1: which I don't think it's supposed to be. But then again,
- 28:39Speaker 1: how the fuck would I know. I'm not the right
- 28:41Speaker 1: person to ask about this shit, So yay. Anyway, we
- 28:46Speaker 1: now see like really high up basement windows, and then
- 28:50Speaker 1: I guess we're in their apartments. There's a bed in
- 28:52Speaker 1: the corner and the sheets are really lumpy, like somebody's
- 28:55Speaker 1: under them, and it's Kaji. He sits up, rubs the
- 28:59Speaker 1: back of his neck, and gets out of bed. We
- 29:01Speaker 1: see a flame come on under ea like a tea
- 29:03Speaker 1: kettle on the stove. Kaji opens the cabinets and gets
- 29:07Speaker 1: out what I thought was coffee and it totally was,
- 29:10Speaker 1: so I was very happy and flips on the radio
- 29:13Speaker 1: and we hear the radio guy say the winner of
- 29:15Speaker 1: the national violin competition was Modata Ugetsu. Wow, that's cool
- 29:20Speaker 1: and also really good timing. Kaiji is now brushing his
- 29:23Speaker 1: teeth in the bathroom and the radio guy continues Murata
- 29:27Speaker 1: sign will hold a solo, and then we hear the
- 29:29Speaker 1: door open and we see two sets of legs bringing
- 29:32Speaker 1: luggage in and Ugetsu says, finally home. You can leave
- 29:37Speaker 1: my stuff right here, see you later, okay. Kaji comes
- 29:42Speaker 1: up the stairs slightly and like looks around the corner
- 29:45Speaker 1: and he's like, welcome home. Ugetsu walks down the stairs
- 29:48Speaker 1: and when he gets to the bottom, he throws off
- 29:50Speaker 1: his jacket onto the floor, and then he does the
- 29:52Speaker 1: same thing with his socks. He walks over to the
- 29:55Speaker 1: bed and sits and he's like, I'm exhausted, Kaiji. He
- 30:00Speaker 1: bends down to collect his clothes from the floor and
- 30:02Speaker 1: he's like, for fox's sake, you want any coffee. Ugetsu
- 30:06Speaker 1: is now laying in bed with his eyes closed, and
- 30:08Speaker 1: he's like nope. We now see Kaji pouring coffee and
- 30:11Speaker 1: he says, you're back early. We hear Ugetsu say yeah,
- 30:15Speaker 1: he was waiting to pick me up. Who was waiting what?
- 30:20Speaker 1: Kaji looks up. Ugetsu continues, actually, I do want coffee,
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yaki eko. Kaji's like make it yourself. Hmmm. Ugetsu's like, ah,
- 30:31Speaker 1: who do you think you are? Slave? Kachi's like, you
- 30:34Speaker 1: could at least call me a freeloader. Huh. Interesting dynamic there.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Neither of them paints Kaji in a really good light
- 30:41Speaker 1: or the relationship. Okay, he SIPs some coffee. I heard
- 30:45Speaker 1: you won the competition. Yeah. Ugetsu is just asleep at
- 30:48Speaker 1: this point. Now we see kids going into the school
- 30:52Speaker 1: and Uino Yama walks past some lockers and we hear
- 30:56Speaker 1: MafA you say, Unoyama, kuhn Wuinoyama kind of go and stops.
- 31:01Speaker 1: You gotta get your shit together, dude, and Mafou runs
- 31:04Speaker 1: up from behind him and is like good morning. We know.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Yama turns and is like, hey, were you practicing? Mafu
- 31:11Speaker 1: You says yeah, but there's a part I keep getting
- 31:14Speaker 1: stuck on. We know Yama's like, what part MafA You
- 31:18Speaker 1: says uh, and then he sings apart and he's like
- 31:21Speaker 1: the part after that? We know? Yama says, ah, I
- 31:24Speaker 1: guess you were having trouble with that the other day too.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I'll teach you it. Meet me in the usual spot
- 31:29Speaker 1: at lunch. Mafo You's like, are you sure we know?
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yama starts to walk away. We don't have much more
- 31:35Speaker 1: time before the show. Mafuy was quiet for a second,
- 31:38Speaker 1: and then he says, we know, Yama kun, we know.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Yama stops walking and looks back at him. Mafu You continues,
- 31:45Speaker 1: thank you for teaching me, and he bows, jeez, we know.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Yama scowls and like blushes a little bit. And then
- 31:52Speaker 1: we cut to the stairwell. We're looking up at the
- 31:56Speaker 1: landing and we know Yama and Mafu You are sitting
- 31:59Speaker 1: on the land with their guitars. Oyama says, okay, let's
- 32:03Speaker 1: up the tempo one two four, and then somebody starts playing,
- 32:07Speaker 1: but we actually can't see any of the guitars or hands,
- 32:11Speaker 1: so I think it's probably Mafo You because that would
- 32:13Speaker 1: make sense because he's the one practicing. Okay, it was
- 32:16Speaker 1: definitely Mafo you because he stops and uino Yama says
- 32:20Speaker 1: that sounded pretty good. Mafuy's like really, Wuoyama continues, Now
- 32:24Speaker 1: you just got to learn to play without looking at
- 32:26Speaker 1: your hands. Mafou looks confused, and he's like without looking o.
- 32:31Speaker 1: Oyama's like, you can't sing if you're looking down. You
- 32:34Speaker 1: have a mic for a reason. Okay, that's not exactly true,
- 32:37Speaker 1: but we'll just cover this at the end. Mafu's like,
- 32:40Speaker 1: oh right, He looks down at his guitar and then
- 32:43Speaker 1: he stands up. Oinoyama makes kind of a confused noise,
- 32:47Speaker 1: but not me. I understand what's happening Mafu who takes
- 32:50Speaker 1: a deep breath, and Oyama looks terrified, I think because
- 32:54Speaker 1: he thinks Mafio's gonna sing or something. And then Mafu
- 32:57Speaker 1: you just starts playing again and yay I guess, but
- 33:02Speaker 1: it doesn't sound great, and Unayama looks kind of unimpressed.
- 33:06Speaker 1: Mafou stops and uen Oyama size and Mafuu is like huh.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Unoyama's like, don't give me that. Come on one more time.
- 33:14Speaker 1: They're trying. Now we have a bunch of still shots
- 33:18Speaker 1: they are people in the venue. Mafu you moving gear
- 33:21Speaker 1: while Subaki tells him something that we can't hear because
- 33:24Speaker 1: it's a still shot. Some guy singing on stage while
- 33:27Speaker 1: people in the crowd are really into it, and Mafu
- 33:29Speaker 1: was watching in the background. That's good, it's good to
- 33:32Speaker 1: figure out how people sing on stage. The gang meeting
- 33:35Speaker 1: at that restaurant and looking at a piece of paper.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Mafo you practicing in his room and his dog is
- 33:41Speaker 1: eating a piece of crumpled up paper, a blank pad
- 33:45Speaker 1: and some crumbled up paper near it. Because Mafu is
- 33:47Speaker 1: not getting any work done. Mafou asleep at his desk.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Uno Ayama looking at him from the classroom door the
- 33:55Speaker 1: hallway of the practice space with just two guys sitting
- 33:58Speaker 1: in it. Okay, we finished the still shots. Kaji, who
- 34:02Speaker 1: is in the practice space, obviously says, okay, listen up.
- 34:05Speaker 1: He raises his hand. I have a suggestion, so listen.
- 34:09Speaker 1: We only have a week before the gig, right. They
- 34:11Speaker 1: all nod and say yeah. At the same time. Kaji continues,
- 34:15Speaker 1: so let's stop practicing. What ouina Yama spit, takes his
- 34:19Speaker 1: water and coughs yeah, and he's like, what what are you,
- 34:23Speaker 1: Kaji cuts him off from what I just heard. We're
- 34:26Speaker 1: basically together. We'll be okay. We see a white screen
- 34:29Speaker 1: with all their little faces at the bottom of this
- 34:32Speaker 1: bar graph, and on the graph there's a line for
- 34:35Speaker 1: like grates and passing, and Haddoki and Kaji's have little
- 34:40Speaker 1: bars that are up to great Wino Yama has one
- 34:43Speaker 1: that's above passing, and there's nothing for mafu Us yet
- 34:46Speaker 1: that makes sense, And we hear Kaji say, Mafuyu's guitar
- 34:49Speaker 1: playing was one of our two big issues, and he's
- 34:51Speaker 1: made it. At the point that he gets a passing grade,
- 34:54Speaker 1: his bar slowly rises to passing grade. We hear Uinoyama say,
- 34:59Speaker 1: but that means he's either gonna barely make it or
- 35:00Speaker 1: all fail. We now see a little cutout of Kaji
- 35:04Speaker 1: wearing a baseball uniform thing with a glove, and there's
- 35:08Speaker 1: like a ball on the screen, and we hear Kaji say,
- 35:11Speaker 1: it's like when a ball manages to just slip through
- 35:14Speaker 1: the middle. I know Yama cut out appears and the
- 35:17Speaker 1: ball goes between them, and we hear we Know Yama
- 35:20Speaker 1: say again again, that means if he messes up in
- 35:23Speaker 1: the slightest. Hee's out Howdegee puts his hand over his
- 35:26Speaker 1: mouth and he's like hmm, but I mean at this point,
- 35:31Speaker 1: it's way more worrying that the lyrics aren't done yet. Guys,
- 35:35Speaker 1: that is so worrying you should be freaking out. Mafu
- 35:39Speaker 1: you looks over at how Togi and Kaji's like, Mafo you,
- 35:43Speaker 1: MafA you turns to Kaji. Kaji continues, I don't think
- 35:47Speaker 1: you're gonna be able to write lyrics if we just
- 35:49Speaker 1: keep casually practicing here. Mafu gasps OUI know. Yama kind
- 35:53Speaker 1: of grits his teeth and thinks, why are you pressuring
- 35:56Speaker 1: them like that? Come on, dude, you have a week.
- 36:02Speaker 1: What are you gonna do? Kaji Saysocki hudock. He's like hmmm.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Kaji puts his bag over his shoulder and he's like,
- 36:09Speaker 1: I'll take MafA you home. You take care of you. No, Yama.
- 36:12Speaker 1: He starts to walk to the door and he's like sure, okay,
- 36:16Speaker 1: Kaji says, MafA you. Mafiu's like yeah. Kaji continues, are
- 36:21Speaker 1: you okay with being on a motorcycle? MafA You just
- 36:24Speaker 1: kind of stares at him. Now we see Mafo you
- 36:26Speaker 1: putting his guitar bag down in the parking lots or
- 36:29Speaker 1: parking garage, I guess, and Kaji's like, here, put this on.
- 36:32Speaker 1: He gives him a helmet. MafA You takes it, and
- 36:34Speaker 1: then Kaji continues, also here he puts a jacket over
- 36:38Speaker 1: Mafaa's shoulders. It gets pretty cold to put that on too.
- 36:41Speaker 1: He's a good guy. MafA You says, thank you. Kaji
- 36:45Speaker 1: leans against his bike and likes his cigarettes. He exhales,
- 36:48Speaker 1: you know, if you don't settle things with your past,
- 36:51Speaker 1: you won't be able to write those lyrics. Yeah, that's yeah,
- 36:56Speaker 1: Mafu gasps. Kaji continues, do you want to express it
- 37:01Speaker 1: or do you want to run away from ever having
- 37:03Speaker 1: to verbalize it? Mafu You just stares at him wide eyed.
- 37:07Speaker 1: We now see how do Ki in the car looking frustrated,
- 37:10Speaker 1: and he thinks, ugh, seriously, what the hell? How dairy?
- 37:16Speaker 1: We see a flashback that we haven't seen yet, but
- 37:20Speaker 1: I guess was just like maybe half hour ago, and
- 37:23Speaker 1: Haddock he's standing there and we hear Kaji say, how
- 37:27Speaker 1: do hodak He turns his head and Kaji puts his
- 37:30Speaker 1: hand on his shoulder and he leans in and says quietly,
- 37:34Speaker 1: make sure you follow up with Uaynoyama. Yeah. We head
- 37:38Speaker 1: back to Haddoaki now, who is blushing and rubbing his ear,
- 37:40Speaker 1: and he thinks, my left ear still itches awayno Yama,
- 37:44Speaker 1: who's in the passenger seat, points and says, ha dok.
- 37:47Speaker 1: He san eyes forward. It's green dok. He's like right,
- 37:50Speaker 1: and he thinks, yeah, I think I know what he's
- 37:53Speaker 1: trying to do. And the state our bands in right now,
- 37:55Speaker 1: we see now a board game map called Super Fun
- 38:00Speaker 1: of Life, I guess, and you know it's got like
- 38:03Speaker 1: a little path where I guess you probably roll the
- 38:06Speaker 1: dice and then you go to whatever next step that is.
- 38:09Speaker 1: And so we see on the screen there's a step
- 38:12Speaker 1: that says rest one turn, and the next one says
- 38:14Speaker 1: one space back. One after that says two spaces back,
- 38:17Speaker 1: and then there's a game over space, and then there's
- 38:19Speaker 1: a goal space. So we hear how Toki say, The
- 38:23Speaker 1: fact is that our huge success is literally right next
- 38:26Speaker 1: to our huge failure, and right now we're right in
- 38:29Speaker 1: front of the goal, moving back and forth. He sighs,
- 38:32Speaker 1: and yet he we see Kaji whispering in his ear.
- 38:36Speaker 1: Give him a push. Haddoki is freaking out and he
- 38:39Speaker 1: thinks my ear reach is so much and he just
- 38:41Speaker 1: called me how to out of nowhere? You know? Yama's like,
- 38:45Speaker 1: hadaki san the light screen hadok. He thinks, at this rate,
- 38:49Speaker 1: we're gonna crash and burn one day and I'm gonna
- 38:51Speaker 1: die now. Cars are just like beeping at him, and
- 38:54Speaker 1: Uno Yama says, again, hey, it's green, hadok. He finally
- 38:58Speaker 1: starts driving. He's it's got like some sort of white
- 39:01Speaker 1: van thing and he says, huechi Ooyama's like, yeah, how
- 39:07Speaker 1: doak He says, I think Akihko suggested we stop practicing
- 39:11Speaker 1: because of you. We No. Yama's eyes widen and he
- 39:15Speaker 1: says what how do He's like, You're able to play fine,
- 39:19Speaker 1: so it's probably not noticeable, but your flare is gone.
- 39:23Speaker 1: And even besides that, you're thinking I just have to
- 39:26Speaker 1: do what I always do, aren't you? We know? Yama
- 39:30Speaker 1: looks down at the floor. Well, yeah, I'm just striving
- 39:35Speaker 1: for my usual level of performance. Isn't that good enough?
- 39:39Speaker 1: How do? He's like, it's not Wuinoyama's hands twitch? How
- 39:43Speaker 1: do he? He continues, or at least that's what ak
- 39:46Speaker 1: Eko thinks, I don't know, if you're just too worried
- 39:49Speaker 1: about Mafu you to even notice. But if you go
- 39:51Speaker 1: on like this, you're gonna be swallowed up by Mafuu's sound.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Whoa we know. Yama gasps, yeah, that's something to say, really,
- 40:00Speaker 1: And how do he thinks? Oh, man, I think we
- 40:04Speaker 1: just got further away from the goal again. And we
- 40:06Speaker 1: see that little board again and there was like a
- 40:09Speaker 1: little car piece on it, and the car's knocked over.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Now we cut tou Kaji rubbing Mafuu's head. How nice,
- 40:17Speaker 1: and we hear how do Ki say? What are you
- 40:19Speaker 1: gonna do about this? Sakai Eko, I just doubled down
- 40:21Speaker 1: on your wager, And we cut back to Ueinoyama looking terrified,
- 40:26Speaker 1: and then we go to the title card number zero seven,
- 40:30Speaker 1: tumbling dice, and then we go the ending yay and
- 40:33Speaker 1: that's it closing thoughts. So there you go. There's a
- 40:37Speaker 1: little bit of a gamble going on between if this
- 40:39Speaker 1: show was going to pan out or not and how
- 40:41Speaker 1: to make it pan out, and apparently stressing out Ueinoyama
- 40:45Speaker 1: is a good way to do it. I actually don't
- 40:47Speaker 1: think this is going to help I don't think you
- 40:50Speaker 1: want to scare the kid. It's very obvious that the
- 40:53Speaker 1: reason that he is acting so weird is because he
- 40:57Speaker 1: doesn't know what to do about Mafuyu, like as a person,
- 41:00Speaker 1: as an entity, he has all these feelings and he
- 41:03Speaker 1: doesn't know where to put them or what to do
- 41:05Speaker 1: or how to talk to him about it. So I mean,
- 41:08Speaker 1: this shouldn't be a problem forever. I would assume eventually
- 41:11Speaker 1: he would say something to MafA you or he would
- 41:14Speaker 1: stop having feelings. I don't know how this works. Guys
- 41:16Speaker 1: or Mafu you would say something to him and that
- 41:18Speaker 1: would settle things. But as of right now, he does
- 41:21Speaker 1: not have his head in the game, and I feel
- 41:23Speaker 1: like that's totally understandable. I'm not sure if you want
- 41:27Speaker 1: to tell somebody that they've lost their flare, because I
- 41:29Speaker 1: don't know if that makes you get your flair back.
- 41:31Speaker 1: I kind of think it doesn't. Just talking from my
- 41:34Speaker 1: perspective as someone who plays music, I don't think that
- 41:37Speaker 1: would help me because usually you kind of know how
- 41:41Speaker 1: well you're doing. Even when Miyama just said like he's
- 41:45Speaker 1: trying to play up to his normal standard. Normally you
- 41:47Speaker 1: want to do the best that you can do. I
- 41:49Speaker 1: just feel like normal is in a good set, Like
- 41:52Speaker 1: you want to be doing your best, but maybe your
- 41:55Speaker 1: best is normal. I don't know. You should just be
- 42:00Speaker 1: I don't know, striving for the best you can do
- 42:02Speaker 1: and just saying you want to be good enough. It's
- 42:04Speaker 1: not the right thing to say to your bandmates. But
- 42:06Speaker 1: I also wanted to say because I think this is
- 42:08Speaker 1: getting glossed over in this part of the show and
- 42:11Speaker 1: Manga is that uino Yama wrote the song that they're
- 42:15Speaker 1: working on, like, and everybody really likes it. So to
- 42:18Speaker 1: say that he's just kind of like falling behind or
- 42:20Speaker 1: whatever the fuck is such a weird thing to say. He's,
- 42:24Speaker 1: you know, worked his ass off trying to make this
- 42:28Speaker 1: good and getting it all right for like weeks maybe,
- 42:31Speaker 1: or however long it took him for some reason to
- 42:34Speaker 1: write the song, so like kind of a little slack.
- 42:37Speaker 1: I think I'm way more concerned about the way that
- 42:40Speaker 1: he is acting towards Mafiu in general, which is just
- 42:43Speaker 1: kind of lashing out at him, and he's got to
- 42:45Speaker 1: get that under control because it is not a good look.
- 42:48Speaker 1: You do not want to go over to the guy
- 42:50Speaker 1: you like and say you're not doing a good job,
- 42:53Speaker 1: you're not taking this seriously, and then like have to
- 42:56Speaker 1: have your bandmates hold you back so you don't I
- 42:59Speaker 1: don't know him, like, I don't think he was gonna
- 43:02Speaker 1: hurt him, but it is weird that Hadaki felt like
- 43:04Speaker 1: he had to step in to stop him. So I
- 43:07Speaker 1: don't know. I feel like that's the thing we got
- 43:10Speaker 1: to work on with Uyoyama, not that he needs to
- 43:13Speaker 1: not be swallowed up by Mafu's sound, because Mafo, you
- 43:18Speaker 1: you know, he's still a beginner, and that's another thing
- 43:22Speaker 1: we should probably talk about a little bit, and I
- 43:24Speaker 1: think I started talking about it earlier in the episode.
- 43:26Speaker 1: But like Mafu, you should just be playing like really
- 43:30Speaker 1: easy shit, just you know, playing some simple open chords.
- 43:35Speaker 1: He's one of two guitars. He does not have to
- 43:38Speaker 1: play a dueling solo or something with wuino Yama. He's
- 43:42Speaker 1: not ready yet. It has not been long enough for
- 43:45Speaker 1: us to expect that he would do that. So yeah,
- 43:48Speaker 1: I don't know. So another thing I wanted to talk
- 43:50Speaker 1: about that I said I was going to is the
- 43:53Speaker 1: whole thing about that Mafu. You can't sing if he's
- 43:56Speaker 1: looking down. He totally. Could. I mean, you can just
- 44:00Speaker 1: position the microphone so that you can look down and
- 44:03Speaker 1: sing at the same time. Is it good? Should you
- 44:05Speaker 1: be doing that? No? Not really, it's gonna look weird.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You're not gonna be able to connect with the audience
- 44:11Speaker 1: and it, you know, it just shows that you're not
- 44:13Speaker 1: comfortable with what you're doing yet. But my biggest concern
- 44:17Speaker 1: is have we been even trying to make sure that
- 44:19Speaker 1: he can sing and play the guitar at the same time,
- 44:22Speaker 1: because I haven't seen anything that looks like that. I mean,
- 44:25Speaker 1: we know he doesn't have lyrics yet, but is he
- 44:28Speaker 1: like la la ling along with it or anything. Because
- 44:31Speaker 1: it's kind of a skill to be able to play
- 44:34Speaker 1: and sing guitar. I mean, it's a skill you can learn, absolutely,
- 44:39Speaker 1: but most people can't just do it out of the blue.
- 44:42Speaker 1: So I'm really hoping we're taking some time to teach
- 44:45Speaker 1: him that because that's way more important than where he's
- 44:48Speaker 1: looking when he's playing and singing. So yeah, and I
- 44:54Speaker 1: might go into more detail on that later. But getting
- 44:58Speaker 1: a little worried. Besides that, I don't understand Kaji's relationship
- 45:03Speaker 1: with Ugetsu, Like I guess they had a thing or
- 45:06Speaker 1: did they not even have a thing, And but then
- 45:09Speaker 1: they're living together and it looks like they just have
- 45:11Speaker 1: the one bed. So I'm assuming that they were in
- 45:14Speaker 1: a relationship and that it fizzled out, and that that
- 45:16Speaker 1: person who took him home was his new boyfriend person.
- 45:21Speaker 1: But I don't know. I mean, I'm assuming that because
- 45:25Speaker 1: of the way Kaji acted about it when he heard
- 45:28Speaker 1: that he picked him up from the airport. So yeah.
- 45:32Speaker 1: But so, yeah, Kaji is just hanging out at this
- 45:36Speaker 1: guy's space, probably not paying as much or anything to
- 45:41Speaker 1: live there, because he was talking about himself being a
- 45:43Speaker 1: freeloader and Ugetsu was talking about him being a slave. Yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on. It's definitely a weird situation.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Though it's nice that they're still friends or something. It's weird, guys,
- 45:56Speaker 1: It's kind of weird. So yeah. The only other thing
- 46:00Speaker 1: I wanted to say is that I thought that the
- 46:02Speaker 1: way that things were approached with you know ya, i'ma
- 46:06Speaker 1: finally telling somebody that he had feelings from Mafulu was
- 46:10Speaker 1: really done well. Kaji, in my opinion, really is holding
- 46:14Speaker 1: the entire band and kind of the entire show together
- 46:17Speaker 1: by just being so weirdly emotionally intelligent, thank God, because
- 46:24Speaker 1: he needed to tell somebody. He needed somebody to tell
- 46:26Speaker 1: him it was okay. And I think a lot of
- 46:29Speaker 1: the way that he's acting is also probably because he
- 46:32Speaker 1: kind of didn't expect to have a crush on a
- 46:34Speaker 1: guy maybe, and yeah, he feels like something is wrong
- 46:38Speaker 1: with him. So you know, saying it to Kaji, who
- 46:41Speaker 1: is maybe bisexual or something I'm not really sure, was
- 46:46Speaker 1: like exactly the right thing to do to get somebody
- 46:50Speaker 1: to tell him he's going to be okay and that,
- 46:52Speaker 1: you know, the way he feels about someone is okay.
- 46:55Speaker 1: So yeah, I really liked that. I thought that that
- 46:58Speaker 1: was just done super well. And now he just has
- 47:03Speaker 1: to fucking tell Mafu you for real, dude, That's that's
- 47:07Speaker 1: how you find out if it's gonna work or not.
- 47:09Speaker 1: So you got you gotta talk to them instead of
- 47:12Speaker 1: being all weird all the time and blushing and stuff.
- 47:16Speaker 1: But I get it. They're in high school and it's
- 47:18Speaker 1: hard to tell people how you feel about them because
- 47:20Speaker 1: they might reject you, or they might not even be gay.
- 47:23Speaker 1: I don't know, but yeah, that's what's going on. I
- 47:28Speaker 1: think that's most of the episode. Most of this is
- 47:31Speaker 1: from the manga. There are a couple of things that aren't,
- 47:33Speaker 1: but they're pretty small. I think the whole part with
- 47:36Speaker 1: Kaji and Ugetsu is from like later on in the manga.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I think it might've just been moved because I feel
- 47:41Speaker 1: like I remember it, but when I was looking through
- 47:43Speaker 1: this area, I couldn't find it. But yep, that's what's
- 47:48Speaker 1: going on. So we're coming up on this performance, this
- 47:51Speaker 1: live show, and I don't think they're ready for it,
- 47:55Speaker 1: and I don't know if this is a good idea. Personally,
- 48:01Speaker 1: if I were in this band, I would want to
- 48:03Speaker 1: hold off because we don't even have lyrics yet and
- 48:08Speaker 1: it shouldn't take months to write lyrics guys, And the
- 48:11Speaker 1: idea that it is makes me worried. So yeah, I'm
- 48:15Speaker 1: assuming it's going to be okay, but I'm not feeling
- 48:18Speaker 1: very confident about it. Okay, but also, fuck all that bullshit.
- 48:23Speaker 1: I have played songs live when I didn't know what
- 48:26Speaker 1: all the lyrics were gonna be at, so fuck me, Like,
- 48:30Speaker 1: it's totally okay, it's just the show. I don't know
- 48:33Speaker 1: why I am getting all weird about this. Literally, they
- 48:38Speaker 1: go on stage, people won't even hear the lyrics because
- 48:40Speaker 1: the sound probably won't be right, and it's gonna be
- 48:43Speaker 1: fine regardless. But he really should write lyrics, and if
- 48:46Speaker 1: he can't, they did not make him do it. I
- 48:49Speaker 1: think it'll be okay either way. And this probably isn't
- 48:53Speaker 1: what the band hinges on, whether he writes lyrics or not.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Like you can get through that. People have shitty shows
- 48:59Speaker 1: all the time, so it's gonna be fine. Yeah, that's
- 49:04Speaker 1: my opinion. Now I've changed it. I'm sure i'll change
- 49:07Speaker 1: it back next week and say this is a big problem.
- 49:09Speaker 1: But right now they're kids, they're playing in a band.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Whatever happens is okay. I guess I don't know what
- 49:16Speaker 1: I'm doing. Guys, I should probably go now and reconsider
- 49:20Speaker 1: my life because I'm obviously confused about whether you need
- 49:23Speaker 1: to have really solid everything when you play a show
- 49:26Speaker 1: or absolutely nothing, not even lyrics. So yeah, yeah, I
- 49:32Speaker 1: freaked myself out. I am going to go and hopefully
- 49:35Speaker 1: I will edit this in a way that does not
- 49:37Speaker 1: sound scary to you like I'm having some sort of
- 49:40Speaker 1: mental Greek, because I'm probably not. And I hope you
- 49:44Speaker 1: have a really good whatever and that you don't hate me,
- 49:48Speaker 1: but it's okay if you do. But I would prefer
- 49:50Speaker 1: you didn't, but I get it, so yeah, I will.
- 49:54Speaker 1: I'll see you next time. Later webs
