SPEAKER_00: Joy is your fucking birthright.
• 0:04
SPEAKER_00: And I caught myself the other day gatekeeping my joy, and I think this is definitely something that we do as women so much.
• 0:13
SPEAKER_00: So I just wanted to share because joy is your birthright.
• 0:18
SPEAKER_00: You were put on this earth to experience and feel and do all the things that you feel called to do.
• 0:26
SPEAKER_00: So I was sat on my sofa drinking a cup of cacao and I had this like guilt within me and I was like, I haven't done anything to earn this.
• 0:35
SPEAKER_00: Like I don't deserve this moment of like pure bliss.
• 0:39
SPEAKER_00: I haven't finished what I had to do on my to-do list.
• 0:42
SPEAKER_00: I haven't done the things that I was supposed to do so far today.
• 0:47
  SPEAKER_00: I haven't earned this.
• 0:48
SPEAKER_00: And then I caught myself in the moment and I was like, since when?
• 0:54
SPEAKER_00: Since when did I need to earn a beautiful moment?
• 0:58
SPEAKER_00: Since when did joy become something I have to qualify for?
• 1:02
SPEAKER_00: Because joy is your fucking birthright.
• 1:06
SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to the Good Girl Rebellion Podcast.
• 1:10
SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Izzy, founder of Cyclica, and thank you so much for joining me on another episode.
• 1:15
SPEAKER_00: The Good Girl Rebellion is all about reclaiming your rhythm in mind, body, and spirit.
• 1:20
SPEAKER_00: Each week we are unraveling years of conditioning to reclaim our wild, rebellious, and intuitive truth.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_00: It is my mission to help women break free from society's expectations, help them reconnect with their feminine power and live in alignment with the ebb and flow of their cyclical nature.
• 1:38
SPEAKER_00: So if you're ready to reclaim your power, reconnect to your wilder self and rise as the woman you were never taught to be, you are in the right place.
• 1:48
  SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the rebellion.
• 1:51
SPEAKER_00: So welcome to the quite literal good girl conditioning that you have been raised with.
• 1:57
SPEAKER_00: Because we have been so conditioned to think that joy has to be earned, rest has to be justified, and that pleasure must be proactive and for a reason.
• 2:09
SPEAKER_00: When those experiences are what we were put on this earth to experience.
• 2:14
SPEAKER_00: We were put here to have a human experience and experience every single one of our senses in every single way we feel called to, in any way we feel called to.
• 5:56
SPEAKER_00: One, to honour the feminine and the slow, soft, sensual side of us, but also to regulate our nervous system because when we do everything in such a rushed and stressed state, we are constantly living in a state of fight or fly, and we constantly have a high level of cortisol.
• 6:15
SPEAKER_00: So how many times have you drunk your coffee in a rush because you just didn't have time?
• 6:21
SPEAKER_00: How many times have you eaten your lunch while you're working, typing away, not even like not even tasting the food?
• 6:28
SPEAKER_00: You just shovel it in your mouth because you have to eat, and then you're like, what did that even taste like?
• 6:34
SPEAKER_00: I've done that a few times when you ate dinner and you spend like an hour making dinner, and then you sit down and you might be like watching TV or on your phone, and then you've eaten the whole meal and you're like, I didn't even taste it.
• 6:47
  SPEAKER_00: I didn't even taste it.
• 6:48
SPEAKER_00: I didn't even take a moment to savour the taste and the pleasure of what I just spent all that time creating.
• 6:57
SPEAKER_00: How many times have you not lit a candle because it's just a normal day?
• 7:02
SPEAKER_00: Save the nice things for later, as I mentioned with your perfume.
• 7:05
SPEAKER_00: That is such a big one with women.
• 7:07
SPEAKER_00: We save perfume for a special occasion when you're alive, it's a special occasion.
• 7:12
SPEAKER_00: Celebrate it, spray that really expensive perfume because you deserve it.
• 7:17
SPEAKER_00: We have been taught to live in bare minimum.
• 7:20
SPEAKER_00: Beauty becomes a luxury instead of a baseline.
• 7:23
SPEAKER_00: When adorning yourself with jewels, with jewellery, with makeup, with scents, with moisturizers and oils and clothes that make you feel like a goddess, that's your birthright.
• 7:36
SPEAKER_00: The goddess was always adorned with beauty and given gifts of jewels and like makeup.
• 7:47
SPEAKER_00: We have been so conditioned now to think that in order to be a present sensual being, we have to be like barefaced and minimal.
• 7:59
SPEAKER_00: When you don't, you just have to be whatever you want.
• 8:02
SPEAKER_00: If you want to wear six different types of earrings and 15 layered necklaces, you fucking go girl.
• 8:10
SPEAKER_00: You do what you want to do.
• 8:11
SPEAKER_00: If you want to wear red lipstick every day, you wear red lipstick every day.
• 8:15
SPEAKER_00: Like, don't save these things for a special occasion.
• 8:19
SPEAKER_00: Dress yourself up, adorn yourself like the goddess you are, and stop living in deprivation.
• 8:25
SPEAKER_00: Stop saving the good stuff for later because we've normalized surviving and made thriving feel like it's excessive, made it feel like it's extra, like it's not deserving of every day.
• 8:37
SPEAKER_00: And I'm here to remind you that it is because joy is your fucking birthright.
• 8:43
SPEAKER_00: You do not need a reason to drink your cacao out of your favourite mug on your favourite place in the sofa with your favourite candle burning in your favourite pair of pajamas, doing your favorite meditation.
• 8:56
SPEAKER_00: You can have a juicy sensual experience like that every morning because why the fuck not?
• 9:05
SPEAKER_00: Use the nice cup, romanticize your life, create the beautiful moments.
• 9:09
SPEAKER_00: You are here to experience life, not just optimize it.
• 9:14
  SPEAKER_00: This is embodiment.
• 9:16
SPEAKER_00: This moment right here, this is my life.
• 9:18
SPEAKER_00: You have to embody yourself in the present moment and be in the body and understand that this moment right here is your life.
• 9:27
SPEAKER_00: You're not living only in that future version of yourself, you are living right now in this present moment.
• 9:36
SPEAKER_00: So, what is one thing you can do?
• 9:38
SPEAKER_00: What is one thing you can do to bring more joy into your life?
• 9:42
SPEAKER_00: To own that joy of being your birthright?
• 9:46
SPEAKER_00: What is one thing you can do?
• 9:49
SPEAKER_00: Can you make yourself get up ten minutes earlier so you can sit with your cup of coffee or your tea and look out the window and admire the garden or the birds or the view?
• 10:02
SPEAKER_00: Can you wear those really yummy, juicy pair of pajamas to bed?
• 10:07
SPEAKER_00: You know the ones I mean.
• 10:09
SPEAKER_00: The ones that you save when you have a boyfriend, and if you don't have a boyfriend, they just sit in a drawer in your bedroom.
• 10:15
SPEAKER_00: Can you wear your favourite underwear?
• 10:17
SPEAKER_00: Don't save your really nice thong for a special occasion and your really nice underwear for a hot date.
• 10:24
SPEAKER_00: Wear it today because we've been also been so conditioned to feel like our body and lingerie especially is linked to pleasure.
• 10:38
SPEAKER_00: When wearing lingerie is part of our everyday life, so why is it we wear the shitty lingerie every single day and we save the good lingerie for when other people are gonna see it when we're in it every day?
• 10:51
SPEAKER_00: So why don't we wear the really juicy, beautiful stuff that makes us feel confident?
• 10:57
SPEAKER_00: It's all about how you feel.
• 10:58
SPEAKER_00: What can you do to make yourself feel special because you are special and joy is your birthright.
• 11:06
SPEAKER_00: So stop living the basic bitch life that you think you deserve when you don't.
• 11:11
SPEAKER_00: You deserve to live like the goddess you are.
• 11:16
SPEAKER_00: So romanticize the fuck out of your life and be unapologetic about it, and also have a look at it deeper.
• 11:23
SPEAKER_00: When you desire yourself the small pleasures in life, you're actually reaffirming to yourself that you are not worthy, that you need to do more to deserve it, that you need to earn X, Y, and Z in order to have joy, rest, pleasure, happiness.
• 11:41
SPEAKER_00: When you don't, when you allow yourself to take that moment for yourself, when you allow yourself to embody a slow central morning, to connect with yourself over a warm cup of cacao, to do your favourite meditation and take that time for yourself, to book the nice sauna that you say for special occasions.
• 12:09
SPEAKER_00: When you do all these small things that you feel like you have to earn, you are affirming to yourself that you are worthy and you expand your capacity for receiving more of those things, you shift your identity.
• 12:23
SPEAKER_00: Something that I have really been playing with this last kind of two weeks is living a really slow sensual morning.
• 12:32
  SPEAKER_00: So I I will say I don't start work till 10, so that's that.
• 12:39
  SPEAKER_00: That's a very, very privileged position.
• 12:42
  SPEAKER_00: But I wake up at like 6 a.m.
• 12:44
SPEAKER_00: So I was going through a phase where I was waking up at like 7, half seven, and everything just felt rushed because I had to like obviously get up and get in the shower at like eight.
• 12:54
SPEAKER_00: I have to leave at 9 because it takes me about an hour to get there.
• 12:57
SPEAKER_00: So I was kind of doing everything in like an hour, hour and a half, and it was just stressed and rushed, and I didn't like it.
• 13:03
SPEAKER_00: So I was like, you know what?
• 13:05
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna actually change this.
• 13:07
SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna wake up at six.
• 13:08
SPEAKER_00: To be honest, I just started waking up at six because now the sun rises so much earlier, and it makes me rise with it.
• 13:16
SPEAKER_00: So I've been waking up at six, and I've like, for example, this morning, I've got up, I've had a really slow morning, I've drunk some water, I've drunk some tea, I've journaled, I've done some yoga, I'm now sat here recording my meditation, and I need to have some breakfast and have a shower and get ready and then I'll go.
• 13:38
SPEAKER_00: But it has been a really slow, sensual, joyful morning.
• 13:45
SPEAKER_00: And something that I have then noticed when I've been doing this is I feel like I'm missing something.
• 13:51
SPEAKER_00: I feel like I'm I feel like you know when you leave the house and you feel like you've lost something or you've left something behind, that is how I feel.
• 13:57
SPEAKER_00: But I have noticed that it's not because I've lost something, it's because I'm missing my anxiety, and how tragic is that.
• 14:08
SPEAKER_00: I am missing that sensation in my body of fight or flight that I'm quite clearly obviously was addicted to because I'm just experiencing pure joy and presence and like the bliss of the present moment and the zen of not being rushed, and my body's like, something's missing, something's missing, you're missing something, something's wrong, something's wrong, and nothing's wrong.
• 14:34
SPEAKER_00: It's just the fact that nothing is wrong, and I just think that's a really crazy reawakening because we are so conditioned to live in this vital flight state, we are so conditioned to live in this fast-paced, deprived state that we steal the joy from our everyday life.
• 14:55
SPEAKER_00: So, this is my reminder to you to allow yourself to treat the small moments with the space they deserve because those small moments teach yourself what you are worthy of.
• 15:10
SPEAKER_00: So, romanticize the fuck out of your life.
• 15:13
SPEAKER_00: That is the biggest rebellion you can have as a woman.
• 15:16
SPEAKER_00: Be playful, be joyful, romanticize the F out of your life.
• 15:23
SPEAKER_00: Act like you are living in a movie because you are and you are the main character.
• 15:27
  SPEAKER_00: Be whimsical as fuck.
• 15:29
SPEAKER_00: Do whatever it is you want to bring yourself joy because romanticizing your life is not cringe.
• 15:35
SPEAKER_00: That is another thing we have been conditioned to think that somebody soaking up the joy of life is cringe when it's not cringe, it's not cringe in any way, shape, or form that you've just been raised to think it's cringe, so you don't do it.
• 15:48
SPEAKER_00: It's conscious, it's rebellion, it is the rebellion against the hustle culture, the numbness, the disconnection, this patriarchal, fast, fast-paced society that we live in.
• 16:00
SPEAKER_00: It is your biggest rebellion.
• 16:01
  SPEAKER_00: So romanticize your life.
• 16:03
SPEAKER_00: Drink that cacao, like it's a ritual, out of your favorite cup.
• 16:07
SPEAKER_00: Sit in the sun for no reason, touch the earth, touch the trees, go and walk in the sunshine because you feel like it.
• 16:16
SPEAKER_00: Play music while you're cooking and dance around the kitchen, slow down on purpose.
• 16:22
SPEAKER_00: Another thing that I like to do is like mindful driving.
• 16:26
SPEAKER_00: Can you allow yourself to stop speeding, to just bring yourself back into the present moment and just move with ease and grace?
• 16:35
SPEAKER_00: Because there is no rush, there is no need to be so rushed, just you will get there when you get there.
• 16:42
SPEAKER_00: And this isn't about the aesthetic of romanticizing your life and living it for the gram.
• 16:48
SPEAKER_00: It's about aliveness, it's about reconnecting to yourself, it's about understanding that the more you say to yourself, I will do that later, that's not necessary, that's too much, I don't deserve that.
• 17:03
SPEAKER_00: That is where you're with hand withholding your joy.
• 17:05
SPEAKER_00: So start noticing when you speak to yourself like that.
• 17:08
SPEAKER_00: Start noticing when you tell yourself, Oh, I can't have that.
• 17:12
SPEAKER_00: Because that is where you're with holding your joy, that is where you are taking away the beauty of life from yourself.
• 17:19
  SPEAKER_00: So interrupt it.
• 17:21
SPEAKER_00: Use the nice cup, take five minutes to sit and breathe.
• 17:24
SPEAKER_00: Create one intentional moment in each and every one of your days because you do not need to upgrade your life, you just need to enter it, you just need to start living it.
• 17:37
SPEAKER_00: You need to understand that living that joyful, abundant, blissful, happy, central life is your birthright.
• 17:48
SPEAKER_00: You are a woman, you are a human being on this earth.
• 17:52
SPEAKER_00: Go and live it like you fucking want to, because you don't get another chance.
• 17:58
SPEAKER_00: This is your only shot.
• 17:59
SPEAKER_00: So soak up as much of it as possible.
• 18:02
SPEAKER_00: So, yes, I drank my cacao out of my favourite mug, on my favorite space in the sofa, and I did my favorite meditation, and it wasn't about the cacao, it was about choosing to experience my life and choosing to put my happiness and my joy first and not postponing it for when I feel like I deserved it.
• 18:24
SPEAKER_00: So, this is my invitation to you to put your joy first, to understand that you do not have to earn it, this is your life, and you are allowed to be in it.
