- 0:45Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Hey, this is Vicki of Let's Have a Talk, You Life and God Podcast.
- 0:52Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So glad that you're tuning in to our live recording.
- 0:56Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Hoping that you listened at our launch discussing who we are.
- 1:08Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And in our discussion, we talked about taking a deep breath.
- 1:17Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I hope you connect to that episode that says, Who are you?
- 1:25Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Gotta be careful that we live this life till its fullest, taking advantage of every opportunity God presents to us each and every day.
- 1:44Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Which could mean a simple hug or smile at a passer by or calling grandma when the spirit tugs on your heart.
- 1:57Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We're gonna continue that conversation.
- 2:01Host, Vicki L. Thompson: That of course is in line with our podcast, You Life and God episode, renewing the mind.
- 2:11Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But it's all about us.
- 2:14Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And it is time for us to have a talk.
- 2:20Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Now, who are you?
- 2:25Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And I said last episode we mentioned, take a deep breath.
- 2:32Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Where it's safe to do so.
- 2:35Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Inhale and continue inhaling.
- 2:39Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Because, believe it or not, that's not just oxygen, it is a part of God.
- 2:51Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We talked about Isaiah, Elijah, before transferring his mantle over to Elijah.
- 3:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: He had been ministering a long time and ministering to the children of Israel.
- 3:15Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And as we discuss and exposits in the podcast how God had chosen these people to be an example of what it is to represent the one and true living God.
- 3:31Host, Vicki L. Thompson: It is a hard task.
- 3:33Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So we shout out to our brothers and sisters who are called Jews.
- 3:42Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But believe it or not, whether they think so, the family extends completely to the twelve tribes.
- 3:54Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So let's pray that the cousins and the brothers and sisters that are descendants of Father Abraham come to understand the hour that we're in.
- 4:09Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And we pray the family reconciles.
- 4:13Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But in this episode, we're gonna continue with that premise of Elijah getting tired.
- 4:20Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And had performed this miraculous act of all those gods that leaders had and their messengers and demonstrated that God was not only alive, but also that he's supreme over every little God that we may think it's something.
- 4:47Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But afterwards, Elijah ends up running for his life because the leaders were looking for him, as a matter of fact.
- 5:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Have you been there?
- 5:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So, in the continuation of that same conversation, I want to shout out to my friend Pastor Joel Osteen.
- 5:22Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I want to shout out to my cousin who is also in ministry in Houston, Shirley Payton.
- 5:31Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And then I want to shout out to a minister of the Methodists, who actually was very instrumental in confirming and opening with encouragement and opportunity for me to step into my calling.
- 5:51Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We all think that we are alone as Elijah, but God always sends others to encourage us along the way.
- 6:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So speaking of Houston, those three ministers, I also want to shout out to the radio station that's entitled Keeping Him Close By.
- 6:21Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Under P Pastor Swindoll, letting them know the ministry that airs late at night sometimes, because that's when I tuned in, as God so leads, ministered sincerely to my spiritual, maturing in addition to many others.
- 6:49Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So in that same shout out in Houston, want to shout out to individuals that I met one time.
- 6:58Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I called them friends.
- 7:01Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But as I was preparing to head out of Houston, checked out of my room, decided to stay and wait for the car to take me to the airport, I stepped into a situation.
- 7:19Host, Vicki L. Thompson: To be honest with you, I was taken aback because as I stepped into the lounge, waiting there so early in the morning, around 2 a.m., there's a friend that I will say, but I also call him the antagonist.
- 7:44Host, Vicki L. Thompson: At that time I knew there was something that was ahead of me.
- 7:50Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But I decided to step, as the Spirit of God led me, into the situation.
- 8:00Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And as Elijah, I sat for an opportunity to open up and see how God was going to lead us.
- 8:12Host, Vicki L. Thompson: As the antagonist became more and more revealed, this antagonist had mentioned as though he had known me.
- 8:27Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I did not know him.
- 8:29Host, Vicki L. Thompson: The antagonist mentioned and opened the conversation about God, asking the question, and said, I understand that you have been sharing the word of God or are you in seminary, etc.
- 8:48Host, Vicki L. Thompson: He opened the dialogue like that and perceived that I was much younger than what I look.
- 8:55Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Don't let my gray hair lead you to any presumptions of my age.
- 9:02Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I started graying at 16.
- 9:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: However, the antagonist asked the question, so if there is a god, and began to ask the question, of course, why do bad things happen to good people?
- 9:25Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Now I have to give you a little bit of this narrative, because as he began, there seemed to be more people joining in.
- 9:36Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Some looking at me like, do you know what you just stepped into?
- 9:40Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And some looking as though they were going to sit down to also participate in an upcoming conversation.
- 9:52Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And the conversation did continue to proceed on the same lines as the opening question.
- 10:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And listeners, my friends, I'm going to tell you that answer is posed and consistent, God, and is available for anyone who decides to open seriously their hearts and want to know the answer.
- 10:33Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But biblically, I'm going to tell you, and it's very important as we continue to breathe the air that God has given us this day, reminding, and I pray this is what we do as we inhale, the fresh air as we wake up this morning.
- 10:53Host, Vicki L. Thompson: To know that He's present everywhere.
- 11:04Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But it is also very important for us to stop thinking that all what this word God means.
- 11:17Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Let's be honest.
- 11:19Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Scripture says Paul wrote it, and Jesus said it.
- 11:26Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And that good word G-O-D, which we overlook, and that changes in intent and meaning as the modern age changes as well.
- 11:44Host, Vicki L. Thompson: As we get a little bit more flexible in our tolerance, or we call it more open.
- 11:53Host, Vicki L. Thompson: As a matter of fact, we become uh extremely laxed.
- 11:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And understanding that that word biblically is a synonym for righteous and righteousness.
- 12:10Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So here's our Lord and Savior saying, God is righteous.
- 12:16Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Everything that exists in him lines up with what's right and what's good.
- 12:24Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And to be honest, and I pray we all have a Bible and seek our God to the point that we that his spirit, our hearts cry out for God so that his spirit can minister to what this composition, this letter that God sent to us, had compiled, so that we know one that he exists.
- 12:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And secondly, let's get real, let's be honest with one another.
- 13:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Adam sinned, and when Adam sinned, what the scripture says is that he took on the nature.
- 13:17Host, Vicki L. Thompson: When he disobeyed God, it started with his wife, who actually looked upon, partook upon fruit of a tree.
- 13:29Host, Vicki L. Thompson: That one thing lines up with God, provides everything that we should not covet.
- 13:38Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But then the antagonist, clothed in the form of a snake, showed up to present a temptation to Eve.
- 13:55Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I don't know if she was hungry, I didn't know if she was tired of whatever was in the in the garden, but that's just like us.
- 14:03Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God tempts no one, but there are opportunities for us.
- 14:11Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But we are given opportunities to stand in the commands of God.
- 14:17Host, Vicki L. Thompson: In this particular case, she partook, meaning desired of something that was not hers, that did not belong to her, was not given by God.
- 14:31Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And then her husband was given the command not to partake upon the fruit.
- 14:41Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We're not saying it was an apple.
- 14:44Host, Vicki L. Thompson: The fruit, just like the fruit of the Spirit of God, is joy, love, peace, long suffering.
- 14:54Host, Vicki L. Thompson: There's seven of them.
- 14:56Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Patience.
- 14:57Host, Vicki L. Thompson: The fruit of the tree was the essence of the antagonist, or we call it the serpent.
- 15:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And that fruit, when you look upon it, they partook upon it, meaning it became, they digest, they adjoined a the spirit of the adversary, and thus separated from God through the temptation.
- 15:30Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So we're in a place surrounded by evil, not good.
- 15:38Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So if we're in a place surrounded by evil, evil antagonist, a place where Satan was cast down because the adversary was cast down because of the temptation of man, tempting man.
- 15:58Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So that's where we are, to be honest with you.
- 16:04Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We're in the realm.
- 16:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We're not talking about demons and all of that because we wrestle not with flesh and blood.
- 16:12Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So proceed on with this conversation of a live individual, a human, in which we uh seek to get along with, to share, to see what opportunities of a listener or hearer will be drawn closer to God.
- 16:34Host, Vicki L. Thompson: This is the opportunity that was presented, even though the antagonism probably wanted to intimidate when we stand in the knowledge that God is all powerful and our Lord and Savior has defeated the enemy.
- 16:53Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And all power has been given unto him.
- 16:57Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And as we seek out even more, recognizing and accepting that that same power now, meaning the understanding that God is everything and that his in his righteousness will prevail over all, standing on that truth.
- 17:21Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So the adversary continued to ask the questions, and I'm uh searching and hearing in stillness what God says to do.
- 17:31Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So we had that conversation, knowing that the one who was with me, the antagonist, and in our conversation, there was a young adult, a female, who actually jumped in.
- 17:47Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Now I believe they were related.
- 17:49Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And she jumps in, another friend, and I look, and I could tell that this individual not only was perplexed, but lost.
- 18:02Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And she says, Well, but I haven't done anything to anybody, and I'm just trying to live.
- 18:13Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I have my own job.
- 18:15Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And she seemed quite alone.
- 18:19Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And at that moment, I knew that I was there for the Spirit of God to have his way with this young person.
- 18:31Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So I looked and I said, but God knows that.
- 18:37Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And if you want to ask God, ask God! Don't seek a medium, don't seek a priest, don't chant in the temple.
- 18:54Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Ask God!.
- 18:57Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Don't wait for High Holy Day.
- 19:02Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Ask God now.
- 19:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Because it is our intent for us to live this life in its fullness and not let anything hinder us in seeking the God who sent us here in the first place.
- 19:20Host, Vicki L. Thompson: A lot of us don't know that.
- 19:22Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And again, poignant and candid answers to the question why?
- 19:29Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Because we are in the presence always of evil.
- 19:35Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God has somehow has a shield.
- 19:42Host, Vicki L. Thompson: That is, as we were cast out of his harmony and dominion, immediate, sovereign providence.
- 19:53Host, Vicki L. Thompson: As Elijah, Elijah started running.
- 20:02Host, Vicki L. Thompson: When I say the young lady was lost, meant spiritually, don't think that it has lostness, has nothing to do whether or not you're selling drugs or stealing or an adulterous affair, does not necessarily mean that.
- 20:21Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Meaning that you are separated from the God who sent you here through your mother's womb in the first place, and you have not reconnected back to that God, which is the one true living God.
- 20:37Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So as Elijah, and again, our point is renewing the mind, thinking of who we are, and is not tied up in a job, as we discussed last week, etc.
- 20:54Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Elijah ran, and our God who knows shows up and asks the simple question: why are you here?
- 21:03Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Leading the tribes and the children of Israel, this new nation, as it has been from birth to maturing as a kingdom, proclaiming the greatness of our God.
- 21:24Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And here is Elijah.
- 21:28Host, Vicki L. Thompson: All the gods of the other world falls down as Elijah prays before an altar, and God shows up mightyfully, and Elijah decides to run.
- 21:44Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And that again, ficleness is not one of faith in God.
- 21:53Host, Vicki L. Thompson: It's not running, not saying what's going on with Elijah, but speaking regarding ourselves.
- 21:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Elijah hides.
- 22:03Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And you know what he did?
- 22:07Host, Vicki L. Thompson: He begins to tell God that he's been zealous for him for all these years.
- 22:14Host, Vicki L. Thompson: You know, somebody messed with his mind.
- 22:17Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Where he went from the time of God showing up and all the other gods bowing down before God, and he gets to a cave, something.
- 22:27Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But our God, our God, showed up.
- 22:34Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And he says, You know, I'm not in all this mightiness, but we are to call upon and uh call upon the name of the Lord, and he was showing.
- 22:44Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Us great and mighty works that we've never seen ever.
- 22:49Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Meaning the one you saw last week, here's a new one that he's gonna show you that he's even more mightier.
- 22:57Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And it doesn't mean that everything blows up, it doesn't mean that you know you shabak everyone, you don't have to speak the spirit in the spiritual realm to have it calling the name of the Lord.
- 23:12Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So the conversation with the young girl and her heart is felt by me.
- 23:21Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Now I still believe she was she came along with this antagonist just to see.
- 23:30Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But God had me as a servant, as he will have you just smile at someone, or you just have a conversation with someone, just so God's spirit can have his way in the individual's life.
- 23:52Host, Vicki L. Thompson: A word can really open up someone's heart, put a crack in it where the Spirit of God can begin to connect to that individual.
- 24:05Host, Vicki L. Thompson: That is a lining up with us and Elijah.
- 24:11Host, Vicki L. Thompson: The servant can be as simple as staying where God tells you to stay in your post, or walking and going in a situation where it seems antagonistic.
- 24:30Host, Vicki L. Thompson: What do you do then?
- 24:32Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Like Elijah, you prove God is mighty.
- 24:36Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And as Elijah, as God tells you to seek refuge, we have the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ, who is a mighty refuge for us.
- 24:47Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And his mighty.
- 24:51Host, Vicki L. Thompson: The young lady began to, she turned, her posture turned, and began to look.
- 24:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And at that time I knew that her ears were perked.
- 25:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And it is my prayer that God continue to minister to her heart.
- 25:15Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And as Elijah, what then?
- 25:18Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Our God heard for the servants who have been there.
- 25:24Host, Vicki L. Thompson: We pray because we need that great crowd, cloud of witness to continue praying for us, to remain steadfast, increasing even more in faith and trust in the Lord.
- 25:39Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But as Elijah, God heard his heart.
- 25:46Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God didn't tell Elijah to go back and serve twenty more years.
- 25:52Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God said and sent ravens, another mighty act, to minister for him for forty days, providing which means kind of like in the wilderness, a season, preparing him for the journey back.
- 26:17Host, Vicki L. Thompson: As he was hiding out in the Mount Arab, but said enough sustenance, so he would be strengthened to travel back and transfer his mantle, meaning his calling to another messenger of God.
- 26:42Host, Vicki L. Thompson: That's a very simple explanation that explains who we are in the light of who God is.
- 26:55Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God is always available to assist us.
- 26:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God's always available for another heart to be prepped.
- 27:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God is always looking for us to be available for us to stand.
- 27:12Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Just to stand when the antagonist comes.
- 27:18Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And the antagonist, my friends, can show up any kind of way on your job or your work.
- 27:26Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And what do you do?
- 27:27Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Recognize because it will always present questions about if God's really real, why is that?
- 27:38Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But we must know that we were sent in an environment that was not meaning us humans, that were not, that was not intended for us.
- 27:54Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And as God allows more of us to go, it really is for us to take advantage of every opportunity that He presents every day in prayer that we recognize it, because we may have not only an antagonist, but many ears listening and many hearts that need to be pricked.
- 28:23Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And it can be the simplest thing, as God showed Elijah.
- 28:31Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Not in that mighty wind, I'm not in that earthquake, and I'm not in that big fire.
- 28:36Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So still, quiet voice, meaning always be ready to listen and hear what God has to say.
- 28:48Host, Vicki L. Thompson: To my friend the antagonist, oh, he shows up.
- 28:52Host, Vicki L. Thompson: He came in the flesh, everybody.
- 28:55Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I'm sure he has presented himself to you in voice and intent.
- 29:02Host, Vicki L. Thompson: As Elijah in that day.
- 29:06Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Even though there were others who felt that, man, you're in a battle, you're not doing this right.
- 29:12Host, Vicki L. Thompson: You're not telling him to go, you know, himself.
- 29:16Host, Vicki L. Thompson: No, not doing that.
- 29:18Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God, because I'm his child, will show up.
- 29:25Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And more importantly, there's somebody that is in need of God that God wants to use us to bring.
- 29:37Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And I didn't have to do anything about preaching or anything like that to the young lady, except simple explanation.
- 29:47Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And then ask God.
- 29:50Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Do you know what the antagonist said?
- 29:54Host, Vicki L. Thompson: And he concluded he's an atheist.
- 29:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Atheist.
- 30:00Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But then he says, Let's pray.
- 30:04Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Now I will tell you, God is not mocked.
- 30:09Host, Vicki L. Thompson: You hear me?
- 30:11Host, Vicki L. Thompson: God is not mocked.
- 30:14Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So I listen to this prayer and I'm praying to God.
- 30:19Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Because it was the young lady who was also listening.
- 30:24Host, Vicki L. Thompson: But the antagonist, who was an atheist, decided to pray to God.
- 30:32Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Now, my ears heard what the antagonist said, and this antagonist actually have done this before.
- 30:43Host, Vicki L. Thompson: The words were there.
- 30:45Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I was looking and trying to uh discern if there was a spiritual connection there, but he was indeed an antagonist, is my conclusion.
- 30:59Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So it is my prayer, and I'm hoping as we begin to live life in its fullest, fullness, that we also continue.
- 31:13Host, Vicki L. Thompson: I use that double action, grasp whole, because you can grasp with a little bit of comprehension, but meaning you take that word and you hold on to it.
- 31:28Host, Vicki L. Thompson: That is what is needed for us in this hour.
- 31:34Host, Vicki L. Thompson: So it is my prayer, as God's saying in this hour, we need to sit down.
- 31:41Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Let's have a talk.
- 31:43Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Please tune in the next time, sharing the blessings of God.
- 31:48Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Tell a friend, thanks again, my friends, great beloved of God.
- 31:56Host, Vicki L. Thompson: Goodbye.
