- 0:22SPEAKER_00: This week we've been talking about ways to be a more productive writer.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Now, even though this podcast is called the Daily Writer, the reality is that a lot of people don't write every day.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: They may set aside time every couple of days or once a week to work on their writing.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: And I want you to know that whatever your writing rhythm is, it is totally legitimate.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: You shouldn't take the concept of the quote unquote daily writer too literally all the time.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: The main point is to write regularly, whatever that looks like for your schedule.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: And the more regularly you do it, the better you'll be.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: So I definitely do want to say if you write every day, that it's better, all things being equal, but I don't want you to feel stressed out by that concept.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Even if you're just sitting down once or twice a week to work on stuff, that is great.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And I want to applaud you and commend you for that.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Just case in point, there is some writing that I do not on a daily basis, but weekly.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: For example, I write material for this podcast once every week or two.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: I write a bunch of episodes worth of content at the same time because I'm in that mental mode, and it goes a lot quicker than if I were to try and set aside a few minutes every single day to write and record.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: I know some people who run a daily podcast, and literally every day they sit down and do an episode and record it and put it out there.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: I don't like to work that way.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: I'm already in podcast mode, so I like to batch it, and I think it gets done a lot faster that way.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: By the way, this concept of batching is a great productivity principle.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And I want to encourage you to think in terms of batching your content.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And batching simply means doing similar kinds of work or writing similar kinds of content at the same time because you're in that mental space already.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And you can do this with emails, with book content, podcasts, blogs, or pretty much anything else.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: So I encourage you to give this a try and see how batching can improve your writing output and help you be more productive.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Now, again, all that said, and all things being equal, I definitely want to encourage you to write something every day if you can, even if it's just five minutes worth of writing.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: I think that daily habit of writing is really, really important.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: But I don't want you to feel stressed out or constrained by that.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: So I guess there's a balance.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Here's today's challenge.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Take the concept of batching your work and apply it to some type of writing that you're currently doing.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: It might be emails, blog posts, podcast material, copywriting, or something else.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is, give it a shot and see how it goes.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Hey, before I end this episode, I want to let you know that this has been brought to you by the Daily Writer Club.
