Transcript
- 0:37Well, welcome back to Rick and Elaine discuss
- 0:39the Bible and in particular the book of Job.
- 0:42How you doing? Hey, how you doing? I'm doing
- 0:45fine. I'm I'm going to be sensible this morning.
- 0:48I'm doing fine. That's because that's because
- 0:50you're not in Spain today. That's why you're
- 0:51being sensible because you're now in England.
- 0:54I am in England. So I've got that my intellectual
- 0:56capacity and my ability to sort of like rise
- 0:58above stupidity has to be shown. You know what
- 1:03that I was saying in that one, I can't remember
- 1:06which episode we did that people that, you know,
- 1:08who have a British accent or English, sorry,
- 1:11English accent sounds smart. We can't say British
- 1:13accent because the Irish are involved, but, um,
- 1:16exactly. That's so mean. I'm just kidding. I'm
- 1:19just kidding. The Irish are lovely people, but
- 1:22even this, even the Scottish are saying England,
- 1:24but they don't like to say that, but it is English.
- 1:27I'm sorry. You know, we can dress it up however
- 1:29you like, but you know, at the end of the day,
- 1:31I'm not proud about it. I mean, It just is what
- 1:33it is. It's a language. As long as it gets the
- 1:35point, of course, it doesn't matter. No, that's
- 1:37right. That's right. So being from the South,
- 1:41guys, being from the South, automatically people
- 1:43don't think we're smart. But what you'll learn
- 1:44is that we're wise. And so that's why people
- 1:47like like the Kennedy that's in Louisiana. He
- 1:51talks and it's like, like I've said before, like
- 1:53the molasses just running off the lips. Beautiful.
- 1:57The wisdom, the wisdom. Exactly. And that's it.
- 2:00I mean, apparently, I don't know how true this
- 2:02is, but the Galileans, they were sort of like
- 2:05bumpkins. They were country bumpkins. You know,
- 2:09a good job they're not living now, but they apparently
- 2:12spoke Hebrew with a bit of a lisp. Yes. people
- 2:15like you know judas from from caroth judas is
- 2:20caroth um he um uh kyrioth i think it was he
- 2:24came from wasn't it yeah kyriot yeah hang on
- 2:29let me just uh no let me let me get rid of that
- 2:33so um yeah sorry that was a phone call from somebody
- 2:38in spain so yeah it's okay that's all right but
- 2:40yeah he's broke it very refined so apparently
- 2:44he already believed that he was superior yes
- 2:48yes and yeah that's true wait what am i looking
- 2:51at i was trying to find these comments where
- 2:54are the comments at um we had a new commenter
- 2:59Yes, yes, I heard that all right, so in this
- 3:03guy's so he's he's coming in this day He's listening
- 3:06to the study. I think he's listening to the releases
- 3:08that are on actually the burrows of Berea release
- 3:10So he's he's behind us because in patreon. We're
- 3:14already like today is episode 19 So this is um
- 3:18from Justin Nichols, but it's back on episode
- 3:20seven, but I know Justin very well and Tony,
- 3:23Tony driver. I think you would really love Justin.
- 3:26Justin also makes music with AI. He's been sending
- 3:29me songs on the side too. And you, and he's,
- 3:31he's so encouraged by you and I hope you'll be
- 3:33encouraged by him. He sent me a song. It's amazing.
- 3:35I'm gonna send it to you. But here's what Justin
- 3:37said from episode seven. He says, Rick and Elaine,
- 3:39thank you both for this ongoing study and discussion.
- 3:43Your diligence and consistency in going through
- 3:46this deep, dense, profound book are impressive.
- 3:51Well, all glory to God. Glory to God. That's
- 3:53right. I've been enjoying listening to you to
- 3:56share your hearts and insights as you tackle
- 3:58this ancient But inspired wisdom literature.
- 4:01He said Rick excellent. It's Jesus on a rehab
- 4:04or a hob and nine Verse 13. I greatly appreciated
- 4:08that blessings to you my brother and sister.
- 4:10Keep going in his strength and grace. Thank you,
- 4:13Justin Amen. Amen. Justin is it Justin Nichols
- 4:16is his name. Yep. He's out in the upper Midwest
- 4:18now just in time Just in time Justin, it doesn't
- 4:22matter where you land by the time you get to
- 4:24this episode We'll have spoken so nicely to you
- 4:28six weeks ago Yeah, and about you that's right.
- 4:31Thank you. If he doesn't send anymore it could
- 4:33change True, if he doesn't so therefore, you
- 4:36know never can't tell you never can't tell you
- 4:38never can tell No, you're not as good as me Rick.
- 4:42Sorry. I'm not I'm not I'm not as good as you
- 4:45doesn't matter as long as you know your place
- 4:47as long And I do And I do know my place. All
- 4:51right, here we go. So from verse 19 or from,
- 4:55sorry, from episode 18, I titled it saying everything
- 4:59and saying nothing, which is exactly what Bill
- 5:01Dad did. So from Dina Thompson. Hi, Dina. Hi,
- 5:06Dina. Dina. No, don't get silly now. You're in
- 5:10England. All right. So. Hello, Dina. Hello, Dina.
- 5:15All right. She says, truly a wonderful time in
- 5:19the word with family. This episode had my mind
- 5:22blown. How about that? I appreciate the reminder
- 5:27to do more word study, taking the word worm and
- 5:31going deeper in study about it literally blew
- 5:33my mind in a beautiful way. I was reminded, I
- 5:36was reminded of doing the word study on Darnal.
- 5:41Yeah. I was going through a reading plan and
- 5:43the verse was the one about separating the wheat
- 5:45from the darnal. I had never heard that word,
- 5:49just only tares. So I looked it up because I
- 5:52didn't know it and found out that darnal is completely
- 5:55identical to wheat. Only someone with wisdom
- 5:59could tell them apart. That's really good to
- 6:02know. It made the verse so much more alive to
- 6:07me. Also, the word ghost and what that meant.
- 6:11All I could think about was the cross and that
- 6:14Jesus gave up the ghost. Any person who knew
- 6:17the scriptures knew exactly how deep that statement
- 6:19was. Mind blown. Absolutely. As my Alan says,
- 6:25her husband Alan Thompson, as my Alan says, you
- 6:28bring out nuggets of scripture and this has truly
- 6:30for me been a mining time with our God. Thank
- 6:33you for this study and the reminder to do more
- 6:35word study. I love you both very much. Thank
- 6:38you for sharing, Rick. I know abuse is not easy
- 6:40to talk about, and I'm thankful for your deliverance.
- 6:43Thank you, Dina. Absolutely. And this is what
- 6:46I'm saying. It's so beautiful that they can see
- 6:49our hearts are genuine. We can have a laugh.
- 6:51We can have a crack. And yet, you know, there's
- 6:54a time to laugh and a time to be serious. You
- 6:56know, and we do have a laugh. We're just human.
- 6:58We're just ordinary people that have an extra
- 7:00ordinary savior. And that's the beauty of it.
- 7:04We can just come together, say what we think,
- 7:06say what we feel. And that is the that is the
- 7:09essence of what we're doing. We're not sort of
- 7:11like sitting here, you know, giving out information
- 7:13or linking this and linking that in a way that
- 7:16it's intellect. It literally is being cited in
- 7:20the Word and seeing, oh, that works. Oh, that
- 7:22goes there. Yes, God used that word because,
- 7:25oh, going deeper into that, it really gives you
- 7:27this eye -opening understanding that you'd never
- 7:29had before. And it's all about God sort of like
- 7:31saying, come, come and just share this. Look
- 7:33at this treasure trove of treasure that you maybe
- 7:36never looked before. And I think that's the thing
- 7:38that this is doing. And like I said before, we
- 7:40sort of started the recording. You know, there
- 7:42is so much that we are gaining together. And
- 7:46that, for me, is the beauty of it. So when I
- 7:49meet these people, we would have already been
- 7:51bound by the Holy Spirit more and more and more.
- 7:54And like I said, whether we join, whether I know
- 7:57about how many children they got, where they
- 7:59live, you know, where they were born or what
- 8:01date their birthday is, at the end of the day,
- 8:03that pales into nothing compared to the fact
- 8:05that I know who they are because they're in Christ.
- 8:08Amen. Absolutely. And I'll say this to you, Dina,
- 8:10in regard to the abuse. Absolutely. Yes, I've
- 8:16been delivered. But one of the things that's
- 8:18part of that deliverance is I've had to go through
- 8:21and understand the depths of depravity in mankind
- 8:25and just how far God's grace abounds, but also
- 8:29understand that he's not asking you to get him
- 8:32off the hook. And that was the biggest thing
- 8:34for me is I used to separate those like God must
- 8:38not have known about that because he's good and
- 8:40loving and so therefore he didn't know that and
- 8:43then when he found out he felt sorry for me and
- 8:45he loved me no that's not the god we're talking
- 8:48about which makes it even harder for people when
- 8:50you but that's what i had to go through in order
- 8:53to be delivered i had that really. Come to know
- 8:55him because what we do when we're hurt is we
- 8:58lash out in anger. That's what I was doing I
- 9:00became very very angry at the world. I was angry
- 9:02at everybody I felt like my childhood had been
- 9:05robbed from me. I felt like I couldn't trust
- 9:07anyone and then I also felt because of those
- 9:10sickening thoughts that were coming through my
- 9:12head, you know the the lust for uh, pornography,
- 9:16the, the feelings of lust towards people that
- 9:19didn't even know I'm feeling this, that, that
- 9:22appalling feeling on the inside of me made me
- 9:24feel like I can't be trusted. And so it was a
- 9:26miserable, miserable life. And so I couldn't,
- 9:29you know, I couldn't do anything with it for
- 9:32the longest time. So I just, I showed everything
- 9:34out in anger. I just, I had a very short fuse
- 9:36or my feelings on my sleeve and it took me a
- 9:40long time to get through it. But once I did and
- 9:43I understood it had to come from our true relationship
- 9:46with our Heavenly Father through the Christ That's
- 9:49right. And this is it we're all born with a sort
- 9:51of a blank piece of paper and it's down to the
- 9:53experiences the situations the Circumstances
- 9:56that we go through and how we react to them that
- 9:59we build up this personality and character That
- 10:02is based on the bricks that have gone before
- 10:03so you end up with a wall that isn't you at all
- 10:06And that is what God does. He comes along. He's
- 10:10Spirit that is pure, holy and brilliant light
- 10:12shining within the realms of us. And He says
- 10:15through this honesty and through this understanding,
- 10:17you are not that wall that you've built for yourself.
- 10:20And I can take that wall down brick by brick
- 10:22and replace it with the beauty of what I am.
- 10:25It's the Holy Spirit. It's being replaced with
- 10:28the Spirit of God. And that's... That's basically
- 10:31what job is doing. I mean, you know, little bit
- 10:33of a link going back into Joe, but that's what
- 10:34he's doing. You know, what he understood before
- 10:37was only a small portion. You know, his wall
- 10:40was not completed. It was, it was there, but
- 10:44it was of no substance that he really understood.
- 10:48It was based on what he had, what he'd gained
- 10:50over the years at the ease of his life. It just
- 10:53seems everything was going so well. But through
- 10:55this, he sort of like looking at himself and
- 10:58starting to dismantle certain thought process
- 11:00and place the other bricks that God has given
- 11:03through what he's seeing, this godliness is starting
- 11:07to be built. And this is the thing, it never
- 11:09goes, nothing changes, nothing new under the
- 11:11sun. And this is the whole thing that we're discussing
- 11:14with Job. It's so relevant to us now. We're going
- 11:16through things that Job is going through. You
- 11:20were talking about things that happened in your
- 11:22life, my life. And it's going back to that person
- 11:25and saying, hey, you're not a product of that
- 11:27what happened to you. What you can do is take
- 11:30what God has now given to you, that spirit of
- 11:32godliness, of holiness, and take that what you
- 11:36experienced, not as it affected you negatively,
- 11:40but now in the Holy Spirit, as it has affected
- 11:44you so that you can now go and comfort other
- 11:47people. And it's turned into a positive. I think
- 11:51this is this this is what's happening here with
- 11:53Joe this is what happens you know Dean is talking
- 11:55about this and other people have spoken I get
- 11:58Tracy spoke about the things that he went through
- 12:01and again you like he said I'm glad I went through
- 12:04that because what he knows now he would never
- 12:06have understood if he didn't. So again I was
- 12:09in tribulations that you go through everybody
- 12:12has to say to themselves not complaining about
- 12:14I'm going through this because it will you teaching
- 12:16me. What am I learning? That's right. What am
- 12:20I learning? I need to take about a two minute
- 12:23break if you can give me just a second. I've
- 12:25got to go over here and do something really fast
- 12:27and then I'm going to come back and talk about
- 12:29Tony. So I mean, it's going to be quiet for just
- 12:31a minute, but I'll be right back, OK? Yeah, do
- 12:34they listen to me? Can I talk? Yeah, you can
- 12:36talk all you want. Go for it. OK, I can talk
- 12:38all I want. I talk about yourselves. Well, this
- 12:40is a turn up for the books, isn't it? I've got
- 12:43no one to bounce off of now. No wall to bounce
- 12:45off of. Not that Briggs of all, but you know
- 12:48what I mean. How are you peeps? How's your week
- 12:51been? Mine, as I've said, well, Briggs said,
- 12:55I'm now in England. Come over to see my family,
- 12:58my friends. Yeah, and it's not very nice weather,
- 13:03to be perfectly honest. It is gray. It is dark,
- 13:06dank, dismal, drab, dreary. All the Ds. Doing
- 13:12a lot of study. I don't know if there are anybody
- 13:15listening to this, why Rick's doing his thing.
- 13:19We have done a study, we're starting, we've done
- 13:23two sessions on Matthew 27, verses 51 to 53,
- 13:29that little section in between the rock split
- 13:31and the curtain was torn. And it says, you know,
- 13:34and the centurion said, for a certain deed, this
- 13:36was God's son, the son of God. But there's that
- 13:39little bit in Matthew. that he adds that the
- 13:42other two don't. So if you get an opportunity,
- 13:44if you're listening to this, check it out, because
- 13:48it's something that I've never heard before,
- 13:53and it makes perfect sense and so much more fits
- 13:56into it, into the Bible, into the scriptures
- 13:59that we read. So I would recommend it. Yeah,
- 14:03it's what happened when the graves opened. I
- 14:06think Rick's put it out under that. And I think
- 14:08it will go out on YouTube. So yeah, have a little
- 14:11look for that. Because we truly want to expand
- 14:14and discuss more things that maybe others haven't
- 14:16thought of or they've seen it in a certain way.
- 14:19But now we're looking at it totally differently.
- 14:22And yeah, I think you'll find it really eye opening.
- 14:28And I hope that you get a great deal from it.
- 14:30I'm sure you will. Now was that two minutes?
- 14:34Because I'm going to wrap him over the knuckles
- 14:36when he reappears but um ah and uh there you
- 14:41go talk about the devil lady always turns up
- 14:43bad pennies and all that hello rick hello so
- 14:48i can't wait to go back and watch everything
- 14:50that you just said thank you guys for letting
- 14:52me take that little break i'm singing and dancing
- 14:56I hate that I missed that. I hate that. I tell
- 14:59you, if you believe that you're more stupid than
- 15:01I would give you credit for. Right. Yeah. Well,
- 15:04what you were saying there just makes the most
- 15:06sense. I mean, it's incredible. I'm loving what's
- 15:08going on. Let's get to this comment from Tony.
- 15:12Hi, Tony. From England. Good day, y 'all. Good
- 15:19day, y 'all. Hey, y 'all. You're right, peeps.
- 15:21I really enjoyed this study in last weeks as
- 15:24well. It was powerful to see the contrast between
- 15:27knowing truth and actually applying it with love.
- 15:30Bill Dad's words were true, but they missed the
- 15:33heart of what Job was going through, while Job's
- 15:35response brought clarity and showed a deeper
- 15:37understanding of God. That's right. I also appreciated
- 15:44the connections made with the crimson worm and
- 15:46how everything we read was something they could
- 15:49relate to and understand firsthand. That really
- 15:52brings the scriptures to life. This is the start
- 15:55of my busy season. So if I don't have time to
- 15:58comment, I will still be listening. Hugs from
- 16:01the driver family. So here's a hug back to you.
- 16:04Exactly. Yep. Yep. And we understand. Yes, we
- 16:08understand. You have to speak. You have to say
- 16:11words and then do that, Elaine. Oh, I'm so sorry.
- 16:14I've got my little pinkies. I'm sort of making
- 16:17a little heart shape. It's not a very good heart.
- 16:19It's a bit wonky and a bit odd, but you get the
- 16:22picture. Like my heart. It's a little wonky.
- 16:26Yeah. Well, I'll tell you, wonky is quite good,
- 16:28really, isn't it? Wonky can be quite good, you
- 16:30know? Yes. Because I mean, it's in wonkiness
- 16:32that you realize that you're not right. Yeah.
- 16:37Yes, exactly. All right, guys, listen, here's
- 16:40the thing. All right. This study is actually
- 16:42not going to be very long today. And the reason
- 16:44why is because we've waffled on again. Well,
- 16:47it's not that it actually has more to do with
- 16:50what's being done in twenty seven. And then why
- 16:53I don't want to go into 28. I want 28 to be an
- 16:55episode all unto its own. It's very unique. This
- 16:59discourse. I've got a lot on my Bible. A lot
- 17:02on my Bible written down there. Look. In chapter
- 17:0428? Yeah. Yeah, see, so chapter 28, we couldn't
- 17:09even begin to do it justice today. I want to
- 17:12get into 27 and there's something unique. This
- 17:14is why I've split it up the way that I have.
- 17:18In chapter 27, Job is gonna start talking using
- 17:23that ancient wisdom understanding and it's gonna
- 17:28sound a lot like what his friends have just been
- 17:31saying to him and that's the thing that if you
- 17:34go into Job chapter 24 you remember we dealt
- 17:36with 24 and we talked about how he defined what
- 17:39wickedness was and when you get into chapter
- 17:4227 he starts saying almost it sounds almost like
- 17:47the same things that Elip has so much so Yeah,
- 17:50but that was just knowledge, what Elifaz said.
- 17:52It was, but you just nailed it. You nailed it.
- 17:55That's exactly what it was. Knowledge versus
- 17:57wisdom, but also what it's like to say it when
- 17:59you're in it. There's a big difference here.
- 18:01Outside looking in, saying it, versus inside
- 18:03looking out, saying it. Very different perceptions
- 18:05here. It's like that when people talk to you
- 18:07in a situation that you're in. It's like, yeah,
- 18:09don't worry. God is with you. And then when you're
- 18:11in it yourself, you hear somebody else saying
- 18:13to you, say, well, I know all those things already.
- 18:14Give me something different. Yes. You know, compassion,
- 18:18kindness. empathy, give me a hug, give me a cuddle,
- 18:20just sit there quietly. That's it. You know,
- 18:23I know the scriptures already. Right. So before
- 18:26I get Elaine to read this chapter 27, I'm going
- 18:30to give you kind of like the framework. This
- 18:32is the framework that I'm seeing. OK, I can't
- 18:34say everybody else's, but this is what I'm seeing.
- 18:36And I think it's very critical to this because
- 18:38scholars have argued from like chapter three
- 18:41or chapter 27, verse 13 on. They think that it's
- 18:44the friends speaking again and it's not. those
- 18:47scholars missed the boat on this one. And Job
- 18:51chapter 24, when Job is speaking, is what we
- 18:55see. It's what we can perceive. He's saying the
- 18:58wicked dance in the streets to the, you know,
- 19:01and they go to the death with all of these riches
- 19:03and they still have their posterity. That's what
- 19:06we see and observe. So Job breaks - That's the
- 19:08flesh again, isn't it? He's looking at it through
- 19:10material eyes, through fleshy eyes. Flesh, physical,
- 19:14life. this kind of life, physical life, this
- 19:18is what we see and observe. After chapter 27,
- 19:22it's what is true, what is actual, the reality
- 19:27of the spirit. Well, it actually ties in, doesn't
- 19:31it, with what we were talking about on Tuesday
- 19:34about when Christ said, I am the way, the truth.
- 19:36We were saying the truth is that which is unveiled.
- 19:40There's no concealment anymore. It's open. It's
- 19:45there to see when all is stripped away and you're
- 19:47left with the reality and the only reality is
- 19:49Christ Amen, and that's right and here is so
- 19:55okay. I Want to put it Guys, I'm like a five
- 19:59-year -old sometimes. I need I need somebody
- 20:01to talk to me like I'm a five -year -old Absolutely,
- 20:04and I'm saying it this way because it's just
- 20:05easier. So talk to me like I'm an idiot I say
- 20:08that to people. Yeah Yeah, yeah, one of my favorite
- 20:12shows the office he's like tell it tell it to
- 20:14me like I'm a ten -year -old and the guy explains
- 20:16it me and he gets and he goes Okay, never mind.
- 20:19Tell it to me like I'm a kindergartener and it
- 20:20was like You've only got to go back to Jesus
- 20:24you've got to go back to Yeshua's words and you
- 20:26think you so well at the end of the day He was
- 20:28so plain. He was so just using everyday words.
- 20:31He didn't use great big long words at half the
- 20:34time You have to look up to sort of find out
- 20:35what they mean, right? Yeah, I mean it doesn't
- 20:38benefit anyone Not at all. Not at all. That doesn't
- 20:42show wisdom either, really, Rick, if you do that.
- 20:47Is there a bit of flesh creeping in? That's right.
- 20:51That's right. No, you're exactly right. So when
- 20:54the friends speak, when the friends are speaking
- 20:56to Job, if we kind of zoom out and just look
- 20:58at the situation, they say the wicked suffer
- 21:02quickly, that the righteous prosper quickly,
- 21:05therefore Job's suffering equals Job is wicked.
- 21:08See how simple that is? Job suffering. Job is
- 21:12wicked. It's observable reality. So, immediate
- 21:15cause and effect. That's basically what they're
- 21:17saying in their ancient wisdom, which is not
- 21:19its knowledge. But Job says, you know what? Wicked
- 21:21often prosper now. Wicked are not ultimately
- 21:25secure. Righteous people suffer. You cannot judge
- 21:31a person's righteousness by current suffering.
- 21:34That's what Job is saying, right? Delayed justice.
- 21:38and complex reality. That's what we're dealing
- 21:40with here. That's what Job is explaining when
- 21:43he does this. Yeah, again, it's going back to
- 21:46that sort of like going through trials and tribulations
- 21:48that God takes you through, leads you to, lets
- 21:50happen to you so that you can come out the other
- 21:52end. It's all about refinement. It's being refined.
- 21:57You don't get, if nothing bad ever happens to
- 21:59you or comes your way and you live a life of
- 22:02Riley, of no problems, what have you actually
- 22:06learned? it's when you go through these things
- 22:09that you know it's like he says in hebrews about
- 22:12christ that jesus christ through his suffering
- 22:15learned obedience suffering brings something
- 22:19of benefit and this is the whole thing what job
- 22:22is like you're saying you know he's going to
- 22:24the heart he's going into the nugget the kernel
- 22:27you know the very center and core of what reality
- 22:31is and the reality isn't what they're really
- 22:33seeing in the flesh the reality is the spirit
- 22:35about which he's entering into now Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:38And that's that's the critical part that I hope
- 22:40everybody gets when you're going through job
- 22:42like Elaine and I are A lot of times it feels
- 22:46like we're repeating the same thing over and
- 22:48over because that's actually what's going on
- 22:50it's just getting deeper and deeper and deeper
- 22:51into this idea this oversimplified retribution
- 22:54theology versus what. Jobe is observing in reality
- 22:58what he's going through reality what he's doing
- 23:00because he's a righteous man and loves God and
- 23:01what he's what's coming out of him as being in
- 23:04the press it sounds like we're saying the same
- 23:05thing over and over and that's very true and
- 23:08so this can be an arduous study because like
- 23:10more of what job saying but. It's not really,
- 23:14because all these things happen all throughout
- 23:16your life, Rick. And again, taking us from the
- 23:19beginning to the end, we're seeing progress right
- 23:22from the start to the end. There's a learning
- 23:25curve. There's something beautiful that's come
- 23:26out of it, something that's blossomed and grown.
- 23:29And I think this is the whole thing through us.
- 23:32It's the same thing. These people keep ringing
- 23:35me. I can't talk right now. Right, yeah, sorry,
- 23:39I'll back again, Rick. Forgot what I was saying,
- 23:41so as you were, young man. As you were. I'm trying
- 23:46to knock the calls off that are coming to me
- 23:48from Spain about work. Right, right. So here's
- 23:51what's going to go on. We're going to go ahead
- 23:52and let you read this, Elaine, chapter 27. Think
- 23:55about it like this. Job is holding the tension
- 23:58and holding these truths. He's saying the world
- 23:59is unjust now, but God is not unjust ultimately.
- 24:03And I think that's the point that he's trying
- 24:04to make. There there is a distinct difference
- 24:07between the way that job is saying this versus
- 24:09the friends I wanted to say that now because
- 24:10when you hear it Your brain should be like, well,
- 24:13isn't that what they just said to you? Well,
- 24:15you can't understand it unless you like I said
- 24:1824 sets up 25 and 25 26 and 26 27 and 27 then
- 24:22we get into 28 where he goes into wisdom And
- 24:25by the point then you have this whole storyline
- 24:28of how job can say what he says That's why we
- 24:31have to go through that. So would you read 27?
- 24:34Yeah It said, Job continued his speech, My heart
- 25:03will not shame me as long as I live. May my enemy
- 25:06meet the doom of the wicked, my foe the fate
- 25:09of the unrighteous. For what hope does the godless
- 25:11have from his gain when God takes away his life?
- 25:14Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon
- 25:17him? Will he take delight in Shaddai and always
- 25:20call on God? I am teaching you how God uses his
- 25:23power, not hiding what Shaddai is doing. Look,
- 25:27you all can see for yourselves. Why are you emptying
- 25:31such nonsense? This is God's reward for the wicked
- 25:35man. The heritage oppressors receive from Shaddai.
- 25:39If his sons become many, they go to the sword,
- 25:42and his children never have enough to eat. Those
- 25:45of his who remain are buried by plague, and their
- 25:50widows do not weep. Even if he piles up silver
- 25:53-like dust and stores away clothing in mounds
- 25:55like clay, he may collect it, but the just will
- 25:58wear it. and the upright will divide the silver.
- 26:01He builds his house as weak as a spider's web,
- 26:04as flimsy as a watchman's shack. He may lie down
- 26:07rich, but his wealth yields nothing. When he
- 26:10opens his eyes, it isn't there. Terrors overtake
- 26:14him like a flood. At night, a whirlwind steals
- 26:16him away. The east wind carries him off, and
- 26:20he's gone. It sweeps him away, far from his place.
- 26:23Yes, it hurls itself at him, sparing nothing.
- 26:27He does all he can to flee from its power. People
- 26:29clap their hands at him in derision and hiss
- 26:32him out of his home. Jobe is getting down to
- 26:38the nitty gritty here. All right. And when you
- 26:42when it kicks off Chapter 27, it says you said
- 26:45speech at the first verse that you said his speech.
- 26:51Correct. Let me silent my watch because this
- 26:54is going to drive me insane if I don't. Um, but
- 26:58job comes right out guys and he says right out
- 27:01of the gate. This is the discourse. It says that
- 27:04he begins his discourse. I want you to think
- 27:06of this as like a closing argument. This has
- 27:09been like a courtroom drama. We've said that
- 27:11from the very beginning, correct? So this is,
- 27:14you think about this as his big closing statement.
- 27:16He's already dealt with in chapter 26. He's already
- 27:19spoke basically, um, back to build dad, um, and
- 27:23the group. and so now here he is he's beginning
- 27:26this discourse in my opinion it's like a legal
- 27:30declaration it's an oath because he's getting
- 27:32ready to make an oath in verse two as god lives
- 27:36who has taken away my right and the almighty
- 27:40who has made my soul bitter now that sounds mean
- 27:43it sounds mean but listen to me think about what
- 27:46i shared with you last week okay think about
- 27:49what i shared with you about my personal life
- 27:50i was five years old and i was abused okay that
- 27:56is my reality that's my reality so if i know
- 28:00that god is all -knowing and all of this can
- 28:01happen to me and that he's totally aware of it
- 28:04only now much much later do i realize it was
- 28:07for my good which sounds insane for people but
- 28:09it's not to me it's perfectly rational insane
- 28:11for me but That's what Job is saying, because
- 28:15Job is actually accurate here. You might say
- 28:17that he's wrong, but he's not. Because God said,
- 28:19okay, if you consider my servant Job, go ahead,
- 28:22kill his kids, take his house, burn up his oxen
- 28:25and all of this stuff. Just don't touch his body.
- 28:28Well, that's what God's doing. So Job's like,
- 28:30he has made me bitter. He has, because ultimately
- 28:35it is God. But he's not being unrighteous in
- 28:38saying it. I wasn't being unrighteous in feeling
- 28:40it either. No, but I think that he's got the
- 28:45two, because he doesn't understand the conversation
- 28:47that went on between God and Satan, the devil.
- 28:50I think that really he's getting the two mixed
- 28:53up. He's seeing them the wrong way round. And
- 28:57that's very possible. Exactly, which is ultimately,
- 29:01Rick, what happened to you? You saw the experience,
- 29:03but now it's twisted because now you see why
- 29:05God allowed it. that's right and that's good
- 29:08so it's so therefore you think oh wide has got
- 29:11a layer but no he's done to me and then when
- 29:13it yields what it's yielding you see well actually
- 29:17i i'm faulty reasoning there was a faulty reason
- 29:21you can have faulty reasoning but you can remain
- 29:23righteous because you're honest 100 percent You
- 29:26see the difference? You remain righteous and
- 29:28upright because you're honest about it. Even
- 29:30if it's twisted in your brain because of whatever
- 29:32happened, he wasn't given the right to stand
- 29:34between God and Satan and see all this. So he's
- 29:37in the right by asking and saying the things.
- 29:39It's wrong, but he's in the right. And thank
- 29:42you for bringing that up. Yeah and I think this
- 29:44is what happens to us while we're going through
- 29:46something we do not see the right again it's
- 29:48like this wonky line isn't it I mean what let
- 29:51me just about wonky you know it's only when you
- 29:53look back that you see it was wonky and and now
- 29:56you can go like Jesus said who sets his hand
- 29:57to the plow and looks back you know it's gonna
- 29:59be wonky so therefore when you when you're taught
- 30:02all these things what you do is you look forward
- 30:04and then you take what you've learned so the
- 30:07line isn't wonky anymore but you know you've
- 30:09learned from the wonky line Yes, and you have,
- 30:14and look at what Job's doing here. He says, as
- 30:18God lives, he hasn't lost his faith. He knows
- 30:22who's in control. It's not atheism. It's not
- 30:25atheism. It's basically just faith wrestling
- 30:28with perceived injustice. I mean, that's really
- 30:30what this is. Faith wrestling with perceived
- 30:33injustice, perceived injustice. But he's going
- 30:36to start talking about what happens later. He's
- 30:38not. This isn't lost on him. He looks at his
- 30:40friends here in a little bit and he says it directly
- 30:42to him. This is nonsense. He knows what's not
- 30:46nonsense. As long as my breath is in me and the
- 30:51spirit of God is in my nostrils. Who did he acknowledge
- 30:54again? The spirit of God is why I'm alive, as
- 30:57long as there is God's breath in me, as long
- 30:59as the spirit is within me. And this is it. This
- 31:02is, this is, it's like, again, going back to
- 31:04any experience that you've had, it's only, only
- 31:07perceived by the condition of your spirit. It's
- 31:11only perceived by the experiences that you could,
- 31:13that you've had, that you've built on to perceive
- 31:15that what you're going through now. And that's
- 31:18the whole point. You know, this is a perceived
- 31:21understanding of the situation because he doesn't
- 31:24know the whole situation. He hasn't got an idea
- 31:26of the whole picture that's going on. So therefore,
- 31:28there's a perception of it by that which he sees.
- 31:32But in reality, which is the spirit, it's not
- 31:35that at all. And that's why we need to remember
- 31:38as believers in Jesus Christ in our operation
- 31:41today, when we walk around, when you look at
- 31:44somebody, you don't know the story. but you a
- 31:48lot of times we do we'll judge them we will look
- 31:51at them and say oh that guy's a vagrant or that
- 31:54person is most he's obviously a drug addict or
- 31:57that person is he looks a little sketchy like
- 32:01he might steal from me i better lock my door
- 32:03like we do that all the time like we make these
- 32:05prejudgments but even jesus even to pull said
- 32:07isn't it that you know a bit of a scruffy urging
- 32:11comes in and you put him up the back of the congregation
- 32:14synagogue. And yet, you know, the one with the
- 32:16refineries, well, come down the front. Again,
- 32:19you've divided it by what you see, what you perceive.
- 32:22Yes. And Jesus makes it clear. You know, he says,
- 32:26that's what the Pharisees want is to be at the
- 32:28front of the table and to have all of this good
- 32:29stuff. The scribes are like that. Yet we know
- 32:32that they're devouring widow's houses. And so.
- 32:34You're giving them the place of honor no come
- 32:37in and be debased and then be brought up to the
- 32:39to that point but my point is is that with this
- 32:41just like job is saying like when we look at
- 32:43somebody let's just remember that you don't know
- 32:46the whole story. And that you need to have compassion
- 32:48and that you can have communication. Now, I'm
- 32:50not saying that you need to put yourself in danger
- 32:51all the time. No, that's not what I mean. If
- 32:53you see a dangerous situation, use your brain.
- 32:55Get out of there. But also there are moments
- 32:57whenever the spirit will will lead you and guide
- 33:00you into these things. I've been around people
- 33:02and suddenly like I remember picking up a hitchhiker
- 33:04who was stoned out of his mind. And I was like,
- 33:08I remember talking to the Lord like, this is
- 33:09not good. This is not scary. I shared the gospel
- 33:11with him and then he got out of the car and left.
- 33:13Who knows? And that's the thing, isn't it? You
- 33:16know, we don't know. You know, people say, you
- 33:19know, if you see someone begging and you give
- 33:21them something, I've had Christian say to me,
- 33:23yeah, but you don't know they might be better.
- 33:25And I said, look, at the end of the day, it's
- 33:27not about my understanding of what I think that
- 33:29they're doing, because I don't know. But I tell
- 33:32you, it's about what I'm doing. It's about my
- 33:34character. It's about my thought process. They
- 33:36can do with it what they like. They can go around
- 33:38the corner and laugh about it. But I was I gave
- 33:40that in good faith. I gave that in love. I gave
- 33:43that in belief that it would be so therefore
- 33:45God knows my heart. He deals with them. And I
- 33:48think this is it. This is this perceived. I'm
- 33:50not going to get I'm going to do that for you.
- 33:52I'm not going to. No, I don't really want you
- 33:53as my friend. I'm not. Again, it's it's an illusion,
- 33:56Rick. Yes. Not real. That's right. It's not.
- 34:00And that's and that's exactly what Job is really
- 34:02pointing out to them. They're the way that they're
- 34:05interacting with him is those people like they're
- 34:07looking at him and be like, obviously, You're
- 34:09a sinful nasty man. You know, I mean that's just
- 34:11how they're doing he's like wrong So job says
- 34:14as long as my breath is in me and the spirit
- 34:15of God is in my nostrils My lips will not speak
- 34:19falsehood and my tongue will not utter deceit
- 34:21So he's telling his friends like you're saying
- 34:23all this stuff. You know what? Here's what I
- 34:25could do. I could say yeah, you're right But
- 34:27I'm not going to because you're not and so I'm
- 34:29gonna stand in this truth Even if it doesn't
- 34:32help me because think about it if you're in a
- 34:34desperate situation Sometimes you'll say to somebody
- 34:36exactly what they need to hear so that you can
- 34:39get what you need We do that. Have you ever done
- 34:41that like I've been in I've been in situations
- 34:43like that were okay Well, if I'm gonna get something
- 34:46from them I need to at least moderately agree
- 34:49with whatever it is that they're saying and we'll
- 34:50just go along with it Boy, that's a that's a
- 34:53form of manipulation and that's what they say.
- 34:56Go ahead No, no, I was just thinking again, it's
- 34:59where you are in that situation, isn't it? Like
- 35:02we said about what Job is perceiving. You know,
- 35:05at that particular point, it's a bit of a dichotomy
- 35:07really, because he's saying that my lips won't
- 35:09utter unrighteousness. And then he speaks about
- 35:11God who deals so bitterly with me. But he's only
- 35:14looking at it from the perception that he has
- 35:16at that particular time period. He doesn't know
- 35:18that God has allowed this to happen. So it's
- 35:21a bit of a... You know, God that deals with me
- 35:24so bitterly, God that's denying me justice, I
- 35:27won't speak any unrighteousness. You think, hmm,
- 35:29actually, I don't know about that. You know,
- 35:33you just said that you're not going to ask for
- 35:36unrighteousness and no deceit, but really, in
- 35:38a roundabout way, you have. because you've said
- 35:41that God deals so bitterly with me. So, and he's
- 35:43not even aware of the situation that's happening,
- 35:45the courtroom situation of where this accuser
- 35:48is coming before God. It's where he is at this
- 35:52moment in time. So therefore, you know, at the
- 35:55end of it, would he say that, well, actually,
- 35:57I did impute wrong motives to God? Yeah, look,
- 36:03absolutely. But what I really want to hone in
- 36:06on here, though, Elaine, this is something that
- 36:08I think is so critical as human beings. Job went
- 36:11through something. I want you to imagine every
- 36:14day might be thinking about that. His second
- 36:16son that was born to him or his fourth daughter
- 36:19or his third daughter, I mean, or whatever. Like
- 36:21when he imagined that or whenever he got his
- 36:24first sheep. And then he got his second one and
- 36:26they first had their yearlings and then they
- 36:28sort of growing. I remember his oxen when he
- 36:29first got started and he started getting bit
- 36:31whatever like he's got this whole narrative of
- 36:34life that he's lived and God has blessed him.
- 36:36And now it is gone. His bitterness and feelings
- 36:40are validated. These are validated feelings for
- 36:43him. But the ultimate truth hasn't come to him
- 36:49yet, but he writes, right. I'm with you. So he's
- 36:52talking about something that is in the middle
- 36:55of the story that hasn't been revealed yet. It's
- 36:57still in the field. Very good. But it's living
- 37:01in the tension. It's living in the tension. Exactly.
- 37:05Therefore, we have to be honest to the text,
- 37:07because at the moment, we know where he is, but
- 37:10we've got to look at it through the eyes of Job,
- 37:12even though we're discussing the veil being lifted
- 37:17slightly, and also the scales falling from his
- 37:20fleshy eyes into seeing God more spiritually.
- 37:23Yes, and it's easier for us to do it. As Christians,
- 37:26we can do it because we know the whole story.
- 37:29We know the whole story now and we can, we can
- 37:31apply all of those truths to our, but he couldn't.
- 37:35Right. But the thing is though, Rick, we can
- 37:37still apply that to our life today because I've
- 37:39had people say, like we've said before, why am
- 37:41I going through this? Why does God, so basically
- 37:44again, we can still be living out this story,
- 37:47not knowing the end result because we haven't
- 37:48reached it yet. Right. Did you see what I'm saying?
- 37:51So we're trying to sort of by looking at what
- 37:54Job's seeing as he's sort of having things revealed
- 37:57as he's going through this setup. We have got
- 38:01the beauty of seeing the end result. So by going
- 38:04through this, although we're seeing what Job
- 38:06is experiencing in that moment, we still have
- 38:08the understanding of the outcome. So it's good
- 38:11to see Amit Job where he is because we need sometimes
- 38:14to meet ourselves where we are, but we know the
- 38:16end result to Job. So therefore we can then say
- 38:19to ourselves, although this is where I am in
- 38:22this story right now, and I don't understand
- 38:24exactly, but I know as in the story of Job, he
- 38:27got it in the end. and i think this is where
- 38:29we have to say these things to ourselves you
- 38:32know i'm i'm where i am in this this position
- 38:35now i am where i am why is it happening to me
- 38:38but because we're discussing joe and we know
- 38:40the end result i think this is giving great encouragement
- 38:43and again like he's encouraged me so much i mean
- 38:46there's been people that spoken to me and i've
- 38:49just said you know There's the light always at
- 38:51the end of the tunnel. It's only a shadow of
- 38:54death that you walk through. It's only a valley,
- 38:56a moment in time. It's not the reality. Yeah,
- 38:59you just said it. Let me capitalize on what you
- 39:01just said. You just said a moment in time. Yes.
- 39:03And that's the next thing I was getting ready
- 39:04to say. So I'm going to segue into this. You're
- 39:06ready? It's about time. Yes, it is. What Job's
- 39:13going to be saying here a little bit is about
- 39:15the ultimate reality, the ultimate truth. What
- 39:19the friends are talking about are things based
- 39:21in time. Job is living in time, but what's being
- 39:26pressed out into him is what ultimate reality
- 39:28is that overreaches time. It goes beyond time
- 39:31because God is timeless. Exactly. And there's
- 39:35the two things. There's the dichotomy. He's looking
- 39:38at it through the eyes of a fleshy person, but
- 39:39he's now being taken into the eyes of perception
- 39:42in the spirit. Yes. And he's not quite getting
- 39:45it himself because he's speaking the right things,
- 39:48he's uttering those right things, he understands
- 39:50those things, but it's gradually starting to
- 39:53appear that through this pain and suffering,
- 39:56something more deep and profound is beginning
- 39:59to rise up in him, something to live. Yeah, this
- 40:03is how, what he's learning is how to become a
- 40:05high priest. I've already said it. It's the way
- 40:07the high priest understands God and how it overreaches.
- 40:10all things, the ultimate reality in time. He's
- 40:13learning that stuff, stuff that we've been reading
- 40:15in the New Testament and the apostles and stuff
- 40:17like when Christ comes, we see the ultimate reality
- 40:20and the ultimate wisdom and the ultimate everything
- 40:23with Christ. And, but for Job, he's learning
- 40:26these things. He's becoming a higher priest.
- 40:28I think that Job was probably a priest after
- 40:31the order of Melchizedek in my opinion. Well,
- 40:34I mean, the thing is, at the end of the day,
- 40:35we don't know where he came from. Well, we do.
- 40:38We know he descended from Abraham, but not from
- 40:40the covenant people. I'm just saying I think
- 40:43that that was the priesthood at the time that
- 40:44he was alive. I think whether he was or not,
- 40:47he certainly has a big role because God is using
- 40:49him. So the fact that Satan points him out, have
- 40:51you seen my servant Job? There's no one like
- 40:54him. Wait a minute. There's no one like him.
- 40:56Right. So no one like him. That's a big statement
- 41:00from God. That's a big statement. And that tells
- 41:02you something about Job. Uh -huh. It does. You
- 41:06know, I mean, for him to turn around and say
- 41:08that, you've got to say, Job is this big fish.
- 41:12Yeah. Yeah. Right. All right. So let's get back
- 41:16into this and wrap up 27 so we can finish this
- 41:19study and we'll get into it. We can't really
- 41:20wrap the whole lot up, can we? Yeah, we can.
- 41:22No, no, no, no, we can. I've got a way to wrap
- 41:24it up. Don't watch this. Excellent. What is far
- 41:27be it for me to say that you are right till i
- 41:29die will not put away my integrity for me i hold
- 41:32fast my righteousness and will not let it go
- 41:34my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
- 41:38He's trying to say i'm not guilty of the kind
- 41:41of wickedness that you're saying that's what
- 41:43he's pointing out okay he's. He's he's not going
- 41:47to give them what it is that they think is true
- 41:49because it's not true. He's not what they actually
- 41:52want in their twisted minds and their twisted
- 41:54mind. And then he switches in verse seven, right?
- 41:56Then this is where the shift begins and he starts
- 41:58talking about the fate of the wicked. I don't
- 42:01have to go through all of this for you guys.
- 42:03I'm going to highlight a couple of things. If
- 42:04you want to hear what the fate of the wicked
- 42:05is, everything that Job says here is accurate
- 42:08because it's the ultimate reality. He's been
- 42:09pressed into this. He knows this. And so he's
- 42:12invoking this curse. formula let my enemy be
- 42:16as the wicked and let him who rises up against
- 42:19me be as the unrighteous for what is the hope
- 42:22of the godless when God cuts him off when God
- 42:24takes away his life that's the question what's
- 42:27the ultimate outcome will God hear his cry when
- 42:29distress comes upon him will he take delight
- 42:32in the Almighty will he call upon God at all
- 42:35times no no he will not I will teach you there's
- 42:41the shift He's saying things like the friends
- 42:44but not in the same light now. He's pointing
- 42:46to them and saying I will teach you Concerning
- 42:49the hand of God why now he says I will in mine.
- 42:52It says I am Yeah, I am I am I am teaching you
- 42:58and what I'm saying now pay attention It's not
- 43:00just knowledge. I'm teaching you here. I am teach
- 43:02you something greater than knowledge And this
- 43:05is what he's this is what maybe he's had this
- 43:08all along. It's like if you had a sort of light
- 43:10bulb moment, you've known the scripture, you've
- 43:11known the scripture, you've known the scripture
- 43:12and all of a sudden you go, ding. And you think,
- 43:15I knew that, but I didn't know it. Yeah, that's
- 43:19right. And this is, I think this is what he's
- 43:21starting to realize. And in verse 12, verse 12
- 43:25tells you, right? He says, behold, all have you
- 43:29all of you have seen it yourselves. Why then
- 43:32have you become altogether vain? What do you
- 43:35think he's saying right there? What? See the
- 43:38difference? This is a massive difference here.
- 43:41Their thoughts are vanity. Remember, remember
- 43:44the preacher and Ecclesiastes? Everything is
- 43:46vanity. That's right. Vanity, right? And vanity
- 43:50comes from teaching from your own initiative.
- 43:53Good point. It's all about your own initiative.
- 43:56And that's what he's saying. You know, why are
- 43:57you talking such empty, empty nonsense? You know,
- 44:00you really don't grasp the gravity of it. You're
- 44:02speaking from men that have an idea of what wisdom
- 44:08is, but you don't understand it at all. And again,
- 44:11like we said, this is where the walls of Job's
- 44:14knowledge of God is expanding, and theirs is
- 44:18getting smaller, because once again, it's like
- 44:21he's leaving them. Have you ever had that, when
- 44:23you've had somebody in your grip, and all of
- 44:26a sudden you see a change and you think, I've
- 44:28lost them? Yes. Oh, yeah. And you think I can
- 44:32start looking at their phone. And that's what
- 44:34happens in relationships. And then that's when
- 44:36the wickedness starts happening. That's when
- 44:38unkindness starts happening. That's when women
- 44:40go rip men's clothes up and cut them up. Yes,
- 44:43yes. And this is, you know, when men start doing
- 44:46other things that they don't like about. Again,
- 44:50it's this sort of like, I'm losing you. So I've
- 44:52got to be more mean. I've got to come across
- 44:54as being sort of like more grander in my thought
- 44:56process than you. And it's not about that at
- 44:58all. And Job is just leaving. But when you wake
- 45:00up to that reality, what they're saying doesn't
- 45:03cut the mustard anymore. It doesn't hurt. It
- 45:06hasn't got any legs. It hasn't got any spirit
- 45:08that hold you down and bind you. You're free.
- 45:11Yes. You're free. And that and for me, like this.
- 45:18I keep saying every time I read it, it's like
- 45:19this is one of the most critical parts of the
- 45:20book. Well, it is like there's all these critical
- 45:22moments in this book, and this is that moment
- 45:25here where he's made it very clear, like, I'm
- 45:27not going to tell you a lie to make you feel
- 45:29better. I'm not going to implicate myself in
- 45:33any wrongdoing because I know that I haven't.
- 45:37I'm not going to do that. What I am going to
- 45:39explain to you is how things operate in actual
- 45:41time. But then I'll also give you what the ultimate
- 45:43reality is. So verse 13, from 13 on, this is
- 45:47the portion of a wicked man with God and the
- 45:49heritage that oppressors received from the Almighty.
- 45:51He's telling you the ultimate reality of the
- 45:53wickedness. It sounds a lot like, you know, what
- 45:55these other men are saying, but it's in an entirely
- 45:57different light based on timing. It's like Jesus
- 46:00said about the Pharisees, they're having their
- 46:01reward in full. That's it. Yeah, that's it. You've
- 46:04had your reward in full. Right, so then you keep
- 46:07going through Job 27, there's no reason for me
- 46:10to read these to you, read them yourself, go
- 46:12to 27 verse 13 or verse 11 or 12, I mean, and
- 46:16then work your way through it. He's giving you
- 46:19true reality for wickedness and what in God's
- 46:25view, all right, this is from the Almighty. And
- 46:27by the time you get to the end of it, you know,
- 46:31he's... 1 -6 he's given his oath of integrity,
- 46:357 -23 clarified the view of the wicked. So 24
- 46:38and 27 go together, but it's a nugget of wisdom.
- 46:42He's not contradicting himself at all, he's just
- 46:45bringing it in now. because of this discourse
- 46:48where we are, he's given them, he's shown them
- 46:51how vain their thinking is, how wrong their thinking
- 46:53is, how right he is in what he's dealing with,
- 46:56and then we get into chapter 28, and it's gonna...
- 46:59I hope we can get through it in one episode,
- 47:01but I don't know that we can. It's such a good
- 47:03chapter. And I just think that really he's preparing
- 47:06in 27 for what's coming in 28. Yeah, it's a build.
- 47:09All of this is a build. All the time. It's building
- 47:12up. The crescendo is happening. The author is
- 47:14brilliant. Thank you, Holy Spirit. But whoever
- 47:17it was that sat down and pinned this down, the
- 47:19Lord gave him some wisdom and like anybody else
- 47:21in his world. Yeah. And poetic wisdom. I mean,
- 47:24the depth of poetry. I mean, you know, like I've
- 47:27said before, you know, you've got words with,
- 47:29I wandered lonely as a cloud or I walked by myself.
- 47:32I know. Whenever I'm in glory, when I'm in glory,
- 47:35Elaine, I have this desire in my heart. I would
- 47:41like to be able to sit down with the Lord and
- 47:43say, Show me every little nugget. In what you
- 47:48wrote and what you told us like show me at all
- 47:50I like I want to know it because I see how you've
- 47:52revealed yourself in different ways to different
- 47:55people remember Hebrews 1 You know God who at
- 47:58sundry times and in dire manner spoke to our
- 48:01fathers by the prophets But in these last days
- 48:03have spoken to us by his sons. I want to say
- 48:06when you spoke to the fathers by the prophets
- 48:08Can you show me all of the little nuances in
- 48:10the language in the picture that I don't know
- 48:12because I want to know you better I want to know
- 48:13what you did And that's the thing I was thinking
- 48:16about, like that Near Eastern understanding of
- 48:20things, you know? And I just thought, yeah, you
- 48:23know, when you see Paul and the other apostles
- 48:27unveiling, unfolding, revealing all these things,
- 48:33even those that had that mindset didn't get it.
- 48:36So it just shows you that it's the Holy Spirit
- 48:39that brings that mindset to you. So I thought,
- 48:42Lord, you don't necessarily Because I know how
- 48:45you plant a seed and I know how seed grows and
- 48:48I know what a plow does. I know all those things
- 48:50already. So therefore all I need is the Spirit
- 48:53to when I look at the Old Testament and I look
- 48:55at the New Testament, I see that God through
- 48:58His Holy Spirit reveals what they didn't get
- 49:01anyway. Yes. They didn't get it. They didn't.
- 49:04You know what's amazing about this because you
- 49:07and I talk about Genesis all the time. Yeah,
- 49:09we do. Well, you know, whenever God separates
- 49:13the man and the woman from the tree of life.
- 49:17He says, now that the man knows both good and
- 49:20evil, I can't let him have this other tree. No.
- 49:26And the reason why is because of maturity. It's
- 49:29because of the way in which they think. I want
- 49:32you to imagine a world in which Eliphaz has eternal
- 49:37life. I want you to imagine a world where somebody
- 49:42like so far remember how hard he was talking
- 49:46about his knowledge of good and the knowledge
- 49:49of evil that's what they're talking about here.
- 49:51The knowledge of good and evil i want you to
- 49:54imagine so far having access to the tree of life
- 49:56and being able to perpetuate his message to the
- 50:00world forever and ever and ever. And I think
- 50:02that's the thing. You've got life and you've
- 50:04got knowledge of good and evil. But at the end
- 50:06of the day, even when you have the knowledge
- 50:08of what good and evil is, you still can't do
- 50:10it. Not apart from God. You can't do it apart
- 50:14from him. Exactly. And this is why constantly
- 50:17all the way through the New Testament, the apostles
- 50:21are always pushing obedience. Because as children,
- 50:24we might experience good and bad, but we don't
- 50:27really know the difference between good and bad.
- 50:29No and that's why i'd hope that you know whenever
- 50:32i said that job it's become how to become a high
- 50:35priest is that if you think about that access.
- 50:38In the garden okay now you've got good and evil
- 50:41in the world that you're dealing with but you
- 50:43need a representative something that job has
- 50:45been crying out for in this whole book i need
- 50:47a representative i need a representative not
- 50:49realizing that god was making him the representative
- 50:52is what's going on so that he can arbitrate.
- 50:55The good and evil because he has a connection
- 50:57to god that's how we can get to what the good
- 51:00is that's how we can understand what the wicked
- 51:02is because i have this connection with god who
- 51:05gives me all truth this is what it's about in
- 51:09the good and evil world. We have an intermediate
- 51:11intermediary who has access to the father and
- 51:14given us access to the throne. That's why we
- 51:16have it because we have that intermediary there.
- 51:19That's what job is becoming. So job is just expressed
- 51:22to them in twenty seven what the ultimate reality
- 51:24of wickedness is, which means this is something
- 51:26that a high priest can know. And now he can actually
- 51:29speak the truth and it won't be vain and will
- 51:31be connected to God. He's literally learn what
- 51:34it means to be an intermediary for others. And
- 51:37by the way, you've told me, as you said earlier,
- 51:39that's exactly what God asked him to do on behalf
- 51:41of his friends at the end, right? That's right.
- 51:45And again, I mean, going back to Genesis, I mean,
- 51:49all the time, like again, like I say, you know,
- 51:51if everything is going swimmingly in your life
- 51:53and there's nothing that tempts you, you don't
- 51:56know who you really are. You know, Adam was made
- 51:59very good. He was good. But he wasn't flawless,
- 52:03because soon as a temptation was placed in front
- 52:05of him, he chose to go his own way. And that's
- 52:08the thing, go his own way. And it's Jesus is
- 52:11the way. And we know that Jesus is the total
- 52:13understanding and the total knowledge of who
- 52:15God is, the wisdom of God, you know, personified
- 52:18in flesh form. And I think that's the whole thing,
- 52:21that Adam lost that state of being. That state
- 52:25of being which is what god is bringing us back
- 52:28to that state of being that which they had in
- 52:31the garden of eden they had it they lost it they
- 52:35were plunged into darkness because the state
- 52:37of being like christ is to be in brilliant light.
- 52:40They lost brilliant light. They plunged into
- 52:43darkness. And then you had sort of like we've
- 52:45said before, Moses to Adam to Moses. Then you
- 52:49have the law given. So therefore you've got more
- 52:52light given. Well, actually, you know, you still
- 52:54don't get it right. And then you've got, right,
- 52:57then you've got the ultimate, you've got Christ
- 52:59and he's the real light. And that's why, like
- 53:01we say, you've got the darkness, you've got those
- 53:03swords flaming every which way they're turning.
- 53:05Because he's saying, you can't get it back into
- 53:07the garden even unless I let you back in. it's
- 53:10a state of being and it's only in me that you
- 53:12will have that state of being to be able to enter
- 53:14that garden that's why again like I said in in
- 53:17when you go back to Revelation you see that there
- 53:20there there is no walls there's no temple because
- 53:23he is that he's and that's that state that that
- 53:26we are wanting to be in that's that state of
- 53:29thinking speaking and acting in accordance with
- 53:32God and knowing that's only him that understands
- 53:35what good and evil is and this is what Job is
- 53:38beginning to understand. I mean, does he get
- 53:40it all? No, because you can't until the New Testament.
- 53:43You can't have it all unveiled. But it's being
- 53:46unveiled slowly. The veil is being sort of lifted
- 53:49as you go through the scriptures. And what is
- 53:51it taking us back to? Well, Eden is the garden
- 53:55of delights. I delight in your Word. Who is the
- 53:58Word? It's Christ. I delight in the Word. You
- 54:01know, he's my delight. That's where I'm coming
- 54:03in. If we hold on to this motif, I've been talking
- 54:07about how to become a high priest is that the
- 54:11lesson for us and what we can do in our world
- 54:14is that we are a royal priesthood, which means
- 54:17that we have to learn how to operate in a world
- 54:20of good and evil, in a world that needs to be
- 54:24healed of it. They need to be healed of it. And
- 54:26that's what they need. They need to recognize
- 54:27there is good and evil first. They need to recognize
- 54:30there's light and dark. Yeah, that has to be
- 54:32told to them. So we as the city on a hill, the
- 54:35light that shines to the world, that brings Christ
- 54:37to the world, that when we bring it to them,
- 54:39that's why we also have to be very careful not
- 54:43to posture from a holy build that position or
- 54:46a Zophar position or an Eliphas position. We
- 54:49have to understand that as a high priest that
- 54:51we're going in understanding that suffering happens.
- 54:54outside of a sequence of time necessarily in
- 54:57which God has ordered for it. So we have to operate
- 55:00like that. Absolutely. And not only that, at
- 55:03the end of the day, when you are a Christian,
- 55:05when you are like Job, you've got to remember
- 55:09that at the end of the day, just because you
- 55:11are that, it doesn't mean to say that God blesses
- 55:15your life. He's not a genie in a bottle that
- 55:16you rub now and again and say, well, actually,
- 55:17I want this, you know, take this away. In fact,
- 55:20there's probably more suffering if you are true
- 55:22to Christ, if you are that light on a hill, you
- 55:25know, and he says on a hill, you know, so you
- 55:28are on display to people. And I think that's
- 55:32the thing, to recognize that you are maybe, I
- 55:34mean, when I look at the apostles and the disciples,
- 55:37I see that they went through, look at Paul. I
- 55:40mean, look at how much suffering that man went
- 55:41through. He said, they suffered? Well, I'll tell
- 55:43you how much I've suffered. And that's what Christ
- 55:45said. Don't worry, Ananias. He will know how
- 55:48much he's going to suffer for me. And I think
- 55:50that's the thing. And but anyone that goes through
- 55:53suffering and recognizes it's God bringing it
- 55:55is being refined. And that's the light that you
- 55:58can take to other people and say, look, I've
- 55:59been there, done that, but I've come out the
- 56:01other side and I'm shining brighter than when
- 56:03I went into it. It's true. And that's why when
- 56:06you read things in the Book of Acts, like whenever
- 56:08John and Peter get whipped, they rejoice because
- 56:13God counted them worthy for suffering. Can you
- 56:15imagine? Guys, it's upside down to the way that
- 56:18the world thinks. It is, it is. And so suffering
- 56:21is a part of it. Suffering is a part of knowing
- 56:23who God is. And then as we as a royal priesthood,
- 56:27we learn that not only in our own lives, but
- 56:29also through reading in the scriptures and seeing
- 56:31the suffering that those men went through. And
- 56:32we know this to be true about God. But then we
- 56:34can also enter into the suffering of others.
- 56:37And like Paul says, get down in there with them.
- 56:43Weep with them. He's saying Get into the suffering
- 56:47with them absolutely that's how they're going
- 56:49to come to know the father that's how it works
- 56:52so we might sound like a sad lot but it's not
- 56:55there's ultimately. Far, far from sad. Again,
- 57:00through the things suffered, Christ learned obedience.
- 57:03And it's all about being children, saying, Lord,
- 57:04I'm obedient to you. Why? Because you definitely
- 57:07know the difference between good and evil. That's
- 57:08right. Well, that's a good way to end this one.

- 59:58read it? It's about a stupid family. Yes. All
- 1:00:04right, guys. I don't need to read it because,
- 1:00:06I mean, I've got a family like that. We're a
- 1:00:10couple of twits here, right? Yeah, we're a couple
- 1:00:13of twits. A couple of twits. I mean, I quite
- 1:00:15like being a twit because people don't expect
- 1:00:16much from you. They don't expect much from me
- 1:00:18either. That's good stuff. No, and that's really
- 1:00:20nice because when you come out with a little
- 1:00:21nugget, they think, oh, didn't expect that. Oh,
- 1:00:24never thought that was coming. All right, guys.
- 1:00:25Well, God bless you. We love you. We'll talk
