- 0:53SPEAKER_02: Life lifed.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: We have three basically teenagers.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And trying to do this every week got out of hand.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And then we took a break and then never came back.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: Basically.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Here we are, though.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:13SPEAKER_02: Still been reading, though.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Still been reading.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Uh what have you?
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: We we didn't plan this out.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: We're just we're just free balling it.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: So what have you been reading?
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: A lot.
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: My readings jumped around a lot too.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: What did you read today?
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Today I read Threshing Day.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: We both did.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Well, I listened to you read.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: I can't believe I finished that today.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: It was very short.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: It was still four hours after I got done work reading.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: It was a lot of reading in one day.
- 1:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Well, anyways, what else have you been reading?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: It's been two years.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: You've broadened your horizons a little bit.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: A little bit.
- 2:07SPEAKER_02: I mean, I've I can't remember what we finished on talking about, but I finished Mistborn trilogy.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: Um Era One.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Era One.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Uh and I was very, very mad at the ending.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: Uh read the first Red Rising book.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: I don't know if I'll continue that.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I'll get I'll make you do it eventually.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: Um trying to think.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: Knight and the Moth, The Knave and the Moon.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: My favorite author, Rachel Gillig.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Uh I'll start listening to some what I've been reading while you think.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: Um I guess I should have thought about this beforehand.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Uh I read the first Sun Eater book.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: That was pretty good.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: I haven't continued yet.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: I got distracted.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: Uh what were you distracted by?
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Well, we all know the renewed interest in the Avatar series, because what is it, one month?
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: It comes out on October 27th.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: So just under one month until the new book comes out.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Accord of Splintered Harmony.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Um I just finished.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: So in light of the book coming out, I just reread Silver Flames, and I'm halfway through the last Crescent City book again.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Just to refresh myself.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: And I just started Silver Flames.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: I think oh god, some of our last episodes was when the last Crescent City book came out, wasn't it?
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Oops.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: Well, it was a little after that.
- 4:03SPEAKER_02: This round.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: I think we stopped in like April or May.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Uh got a lot of new thoughts on a lot of different things having gone back and re-listened to the crossover section and everything.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: Um I'll get there hopefully.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you got a month.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: You'll do it.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Um I well, I've read all the Red Rising books.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: I think that was current two years ago.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Um I'm pretty much caught up on everything Brandon Sanderson.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Um there was a new Stormlight Archives book that came out since we last podcasted that kind of wrapped up the first era of the Stormlight Archives, and it was amazing.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Uh Dungeon Crawler Carl.
- 5:05SPEAKER_02: No.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: I've uh completely read that entire series so far.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: I think there's two books left.
- 5:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: Um in this in the whole series.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: Uh that is a highly recommend series for anybody interested.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Except me, because he's she'll do it eventually.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: You said uh you didn't think I'd enjoy it.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm still gonna make you read it anyway.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: We'll see when I eventually have time.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Anyway, I have a whole list of books that I've read this year so far.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: Let 'em fly.
- 5:55SPEAKER_02: Um Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherland.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Emily Wilde's Compendium of the Lost Tales.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: That was um trying to see if I have the book.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: I don't remember the author's name.
- 6:16SPEAKER_02: I'm really bad about putting authors' names with the books I've read.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, me too.
- 6:21SPEAKER_02: Uh went back and reread Akatar and Akamath.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: The Hunger Games.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Uh, I've got about an hour and a half left of finishing Assassin's Blade.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna have to reread that.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's simple.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: It's it's I might skip the first two books.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Like Throne of Glass?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: Crown of Midnight.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Is that the second book?
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: It's right there.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, at least the first book.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: That one's it's not my favorite.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: I feel like I would, but I think there's information in that.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: But there's a part when she's first goes underground of the castle and she goes through the like weird, she uses a word key and goes through the portal.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: And she falls into a world sort of.
- 7:17SPEAKER_02: Does that happen in the first book?
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: It does.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: And I'd like to reread that part.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Maybe.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: Um.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: I certainly don't have time to do the entire series in one.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: No, that one's a really long one.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: I mean, I'm going to, but I don't know that I'm gonna finish it anytime soon.
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: I'm just moving through them.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: In the middle of reading everything else that I'm reading.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Uh then I read Catching Fire.
- 7:46SPEAKER_02: Part of the Mocking Jay never finished reading that one.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: Uh then I read a book called Seeking Persephone so I could watch the mini-series.
- 8:02SPEAKER_02: I finally read Guild.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: It was that was an interesting book.
- 8:08SPEAKER_02: It's kind of like a fantasy take on um King Midas.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: Uh, I read all of the books that are out for the Light Lark series.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: So Lightlark, Night Bean, Sky Shade, and Crown Tide, and the next book, I believe, is the last in the series.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: And I read The Night and the Moth and The Knave and the Moon.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: And then I read for a book club Puck and Prejudice, which was a time-traveling hockey player Pride and Prejudice book.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: And sounds horrible.
- 8:48SPEAKER_02: It wasn't, actually.
- 8:50SPEAKER_02: I ended up really enjoying it.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Uh started Glint, but then had to go back and reread some other books, so I didn't get to finish that one.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: What's Glint?
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: Glint is the second book in the Guild series.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: The King Midas book series.
- 9:12SPEAKER_02: Um got halfway through my other book club's book, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires.
- 9:21SPEAKER_02: And that was uh, let's just say it's not my genre.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:26SPEAKER_02: That one's more of a horror thriller, and uh wasn't really enjoying that.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: When I listened to like 20 minutes of that in the car.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: It wasn't great.
- 9:37SPEAKER_02: And then I read Thrashing Day today.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: Uh what other like big event books came out in the last two years?
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: There was Heymage's book.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Ah, yes.
- 9:53SPEAKER_02: Sunrise on the Reaping.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Sunrise on the Reaping.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: Movies about absolutely devastated me.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: That was.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know if I cried, but I might have.
- 10:03SPEAKER_02: Oh, I cried several times listening to that book.
- 10:07SPEAKER_00: That might be the best of the series.
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, I think it is.
- 10:15SPEAKER_02: There's a lot of really good books coming out this year specifically.
- 10:19SPEAKER_02: Or, well, in the next year.
- 10:21SPEAKER_02: What are they?
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: So we just got Threshing Day.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: Which is, well, we'll talk about it then.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:29SPEAKER_02: We'll get into that a little bit.
- 10:31SPEAKER_02: Um There's a book coming out on October.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 10:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, it's the um Divergent Multiverse book.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: What is it called?
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna read it just to read it.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: What are the what are the groups called?
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: The different factions?
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: No.
- 11:00unknown: Yes.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Isn't it like the other faction or something?
- 11:06SPEAKER_02: It might be.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: The sixth faction.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there we go.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: I was close.
- 11:11SPEAKER_02: Uh, so that comes out, I think, on October 6th is the one I'm thinking of.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I don't know that I'm gonna listen to that one.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: No.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: I'll let you do it first.
- 11:22SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: I got I got more, I got enough on my plate trying to.
- 11:29SPEAKER_02: You remember less of the I guess I've reread the books more than you have.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: I've only read them once and they blew the last movie trying to make it a TV show and all that.
- 11:45SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: I'm not talking about that.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: I'm talking about you have more to reread for like Avatar and stuff, because I've reread those books a great many times.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Well, you've only read the last Crescent City book once.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: I have.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: But the other two I have read at least three times.
- 12:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Um I feel like we what's the right way to say it?
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Not fell out of love with the books, but the Aquatar books?
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we have It's just that I think I've broadened my horizons on fantasy.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: And I will always love the Aquatar series because it brought me back into reading fantasy books and reading in general.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: But uh there's just so many more books out there that I love and love more than them.
- 12:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's understandable.
- 12:48SPEAKER_02: I do enjoy the multiverse part of the series, though.
- 12:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you don't really get that in a lot of other fantasy books.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: You're talking to a Brandon Sanderson nerd over here.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: Listen, I said fantasy books, or should I say romantic?
- 13:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 13:09SPEAKER_02: Your high fantasy is different, Hunter.
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: That's fair, I guess.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: Um Brandon Sanderson is different.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: He got well, I mean He writes like two books a year.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:27SPEAKER_02: At least absolutely crazy.
- 13:28SPEAKER_02: He doesn't have any kids, right?
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 13:34SPEAKER_02: I've never seen him mention kids.
- 13:36SPEAKER_02: So if he does, he hides them well.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: Never thought about it.
- 13:44SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna assume he doesn't, since I don't know.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: Because I know from my understanding, Sarah had been writing easily and quickly, and then had her first child.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: And it's a struggle.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: They have three children together.
- 14:08SPEAKER_02: Oh shit.
- 14:09SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Well, I guess I'm he keeps them out of it, I guess.
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Anything?
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, they look young.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: The more you know.
- 14:20SPEAKER_02: Uh anyway, I can't imagine trying to write a whole book.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he'll like go on vacation and be like, oops, I've wrote another book.
- 14:33SPEAKER_02: That's he's he's got an interesting mind.
- 14:36SPEAKER_02: I'd like to dissect it, I guess, but not like in a weird way.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what makes you different?
- 14:46SPEAKER_02: What?
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: Like what makes you different.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: Like how yeah, how do you just sit down and write a book?
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Good books, too.
- 14:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: Because not that I didn't enjoy the Mistborn series.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: I was just disappointed with that ending.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: I was so mad at you.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: It was uh not at all what I was expecting, and disappointed that uh I'm not gonna I don't want to spoil it, so yeah.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: We forgot to do our spoiler warning in the beginning.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: Oh shoot.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 15:17SPEAKER_02: If you don't know by now, spoiler warning.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: We try not to spoil anything outside of this series.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: Without a fair warning.
- 15:27SPEAKER_02: I think we we have, but we warned people we were talking about the book.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: And we're going to spoil it.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: I won't spoil anything for anyone, but I was a little disappointed in the ending of the trilogy for Mistborn.
- 15:41SPEAKER_02: It's understandable.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: The rest of that, though, like the Stormlight Archives, just overwhelms me.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: And that's why I don't know that I would be able to read that.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: Ah, it's so good.
- 15:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but those are like a thousand pages.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 15:55SPEAKER_02: I don't have the time to read one thousand pages.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: So back to Agatar.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: Probably the podcast itself kind of made us tire of the subject a little bit.
- 16:09SPEAKER_02: Well, we were rereading and rereading and rereading just to find every detail we could, and then it felt a lot like work.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Homework.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:20SPEAKER_02: And I've always said, I don't want to do this to be a to to do work.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:26SPEAKER_02: But this is supposed to be fun, and it just made it too much.
- 16:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: So when we pick back up, it most likely will not be chapter for chapter.
- 16:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we're just gonna go for what we've read in trying to stick to some like the chapters of a book of the book that we're reading, and just talk about those main main points without you know directly rereading.
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: We'll see.
- 16:59SPEAKER_00: We'll do what we want.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about that interview.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: Sarah's interview with um Call Her Daddy.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: Alex.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: When we originally watched it, and I know a lot of other people did, we felt like almost that she dismissed Ultra Fans.
- 17:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was slightly disappointing.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: And we've reflected on that since.
- 17:39SPEAKER_00: And I think our conclusion at this point is that she thought it was gonna be a bubbly, giggly, let's talk about the romance half of the series.
- 17:54SPEAKER_02: Girly pop interview.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Talk about, you know, how she got into writing and the romance half of the fantasy part.
- 18:07SPEAKER_00: Um and I've she doesn't do many interviews.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: So I think she just was not prepared as much as someone like Brandon Sanderson is, because he does every con and interview where he's always just like smiles and says, read and find out.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 18:30SPEAKER_02: And she just didn't know how to like answer a question without accidentally spoiling something.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know that she was given those questions in advance either.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
- 18:47SPEAKER_00: Seemed kind of blindsided.
- 18:49SPEAKER_02: I'm unsure what's going on in the whole aspect of Avatar, like as a series with Bloomsbury and everything, like, you know, taking away the small business licensing.
- 19:06SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, for um for Sarah J Mass.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:12SPEAKER_00: Which is unfortunate.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 19:15SPEAKER_02: That's a lot of uh uh And I'm unsure if it's like an issue between her and Bloomsbury.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Or what?
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: That also gets into uh how certain releases of books have bonus chapters and other ones don't.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 19:37SPEAKER_00: And I hate that.
- 19:39SPEAKER_02: Yes, and she I mean she did say, or they said, that with this next book it will have all of the bonus chapters printed in it.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: I wonder about I wonder about the audiobook.
- 19:53SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: I would hope so, because it said all versions.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: Because that was a problem with uh Dungeon Crawler Carl.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: Uh I found out after reading or listening to after listening to about seven books that there was a bonus running chapter series at the end of every printed book that had information that was important, but you would not get it without it.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, well that's silly.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was called the pineapple cabaret.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: And uh weird.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: He said in an interview that like his publisher made him add something that would be only for them.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 20:55SPEAKER_00: And that just feels gross.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: I I just get annoyed when it's like These two chapters are in the Walmart version, these two chapters bonus chapters are in the target version, these two bonus chapters are in um Barnes and Nobles, like Gotta collect them all.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: That's just a money grab, and that's not fair.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: I don't understand.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Is it do they do they think someone's actually going to buy three copies of the book?
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Or is it they know people are gonna be it'll generate more um uh people talking about the different things on the internet?
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Like does it force uh what's the word I'm looking for?
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know, but do they really think somebody's gonna buy three copies of the book and not just post it on?
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Instagram.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, I know lots of people that buy different versions of lots of books, including other languages that they can't speak or read.
- 22:11SPEAKER_02: Just for those copies.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 22:15SPEAKER_02: They're um a some of my friends have traveled to like other countries like Spain, and they will bring home copies of books from there because they look different and have different covers.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: There's like a different cover and different sprayed edges for lots of different countries.
- 22:42SPEAKER_02: Some of the other countries are prettier than ours.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's unfortunate.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Engagement.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: That was the word I was looking for.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:51SPEAKER_00: Generates extra engagement.
- 22:53SPEAKER_02: They're thinking about it the entire time I was talking.
- 22:56SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I feel like her my disappointment in that interview was basically just her not being prepared for that type of questioning.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, we can only hope that's what it was because the other side of that is that she just actually doesn't care.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: And that would just make me very disappointed in an author who wouldn't care enough about the people who love her book series that much to want to know and see the connections between each of her books.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: And obviously there's a connection and lots of little Easter eggs.
- 23:41SPEAKER_02: We saw it when there was leading into the last um Crescent City book with the crossover.
- 23:51SPEAKER_02: And there's the crossover with thrown a glass.
- 23:55SPEAKER_02: Well, it's a small little part, an Aquatar, when Ailen falls through the worlds.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: So it's definitely there.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: And my little reread of going straight from Silver Flames to the Crescent City book.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: There's a lot more there than I might have given it credit on two years of memory.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but to be fair, there's how many years between Crescent City, um, House of Flame and Shadow came out how many years after Silver Flames?
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: Silver Flames came out in what, 2021?
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: How much time do you think passes between Silver Flames and Flame and Shadow?
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Um It feels like months at the most.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: It is it is only so many months because they talk about it, don't they?
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: They reference baby Nyx.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Um it it feels like it's only been a couple months at the most.
- 25:06SPEAKER_02: Well, if he's still a baby.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Less than a year?
- 25:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:15SPEAKER_00: Um.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, when Flame and Shadow came out, I was more focused on rereading the Crescent City series.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Than Akatar Story Flames, yeah.
- 25:31SPEAKER_02: But I think a lot of that will play into the next two books, so we can hope.
- 25:38SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's gonna have to have the Dread Trove.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: And well, I don't know, because we're gonna obviously like Koshay, Koshai, I don't know how to pronounce his name.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: Koshai, I think.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: I don't trust you.
- 25:59SPEAKER_00: Then you don't trust the audiobooks.
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: I don't, because sometimes they say it differently than what an author says.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: True.
- 26:07SPEAKER_02: I've had someone narrate an audiobook, the same audiobook, but it was two different narrators and they pronounced the name differently.
- 26:19SPEAKER_02: Uh what was I saying?
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: Oh uh Koshai's story, which you know, we start to learn about it in Silver Flames, but also we learn about Striga and uh the Bone Carver throughout Wings of Ruin.
- 26:48SPEAKER_02: So I don't know.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: What would be most important to read beforehand?
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm still having trouble like classifying what they are.
- 26:59SPEAKER_02: Well, they like to refer to them as death gods, but what that means in the whole universe, like I don't know.
- 27:09SPEAKER_02: I would like to go back.
- 27:11SPEAKER_02: This is why I want to read read Throne of Glass, because there's a lot of talk about the different gods that have disappeared.
- 27:18SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 27:19SPEAKER_02: Remember, because they go through a word gate and then they disappear, and she sends them somewhere.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Where does she send them at the end?
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: I don't remember.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: And that's why I want to go back and reread.
- 27:29SPEAKER_00: Wherever they go, they start screaming as soon as they go through the portal.
- 27:32SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 27:33SPEAKER_02: I would like to know where they get sent.
- 27:37SPEAKER_02: And rem try to jog my memory more by going through those books and seeing who those gods are.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: And if they play any factors into the rest.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: I need like I need like a whole board with the different uh Asteri names and Daglin names and the gods and all their different names.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: Only picture is uh Charlie.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: From Always Sunny in Philadelphia, yeah.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: The crazy face with all the little strings pointing to everything.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 28:16SPEAKER_02: That connects.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: That's what we need.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Um our own little not little big try race board.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: It would come in handy.
- 28:34SPEAKER_00: Um, so what do we think this first book because it's split into two.
- 28:42SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Um who do we think the main POVs are gonna be?
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: Azreel.
- 28:50SPEAKER_02: I'm pretty sure it's gonna be Azreel, maybe some Lucian, hopefully some Elaine.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um I'm curious as to uh what that's all gonna be about.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: That I don't know.
- 29:07SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:08SPEAKER_02: So I guess this is the release of when they announced it.
- 29:13SPEAKER_02: And it was announced saying what was broken will be remade, what was lost will be reclaimed.
- 29:31SPEAKER_02: Like the bones with like the flame with teeth and eyes kind of poking out.
- 29:39SPEAKER_02: And then the next book that comes out January 12th is A Court of Forgotten Melody, which definitely has a Stygian spider with a spool weaving on the cover.
- 29:52SPEAKER_02: It says, okay.
- 29:55SPEAKER_02: For a court of splintered harmony is as deep in the heart of the continent, Kushai the Deathless, is stirring.
- 30:03SPEAKER_02: Though he's been bound to a mountain lake for millennia, the insidious threat of his his return now spreads across the Fay territories, attracting powerful allies, hellbent on reclaiming what was once theirs, the human lands.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 30:18SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 30:22SPEAKER_02: And then it uh says the night court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked, but with Prithian still piecing itself together in the wake of the devastating Hibern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult by the day.
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: To make matters worse, those who rule and protect the night court are reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths.
- 30:47SPEAKER_02: The rifts dividing them seem insurmountable, but to defeat Koshai's creeping shadow, they must find a way back to each other and resurrect their former alliances.
- 30:58SPEAKER_02: To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: Interesting.
- 31:06SPEAKER_02: Yes, especially when they're talking about like the Night Court's recent betrayals and revealed truths.
- 31:14SPEAKER_02: Does it do you think that has anything to do with the Morrigan?
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Um.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: I think it's possible, but I think it might just vaguely be referencing um the crossover section of Flame and Shadow.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 31:36SPEAKER_00: Like the recent discoveries could be about the Daglin, the betrayal could just be Bryce stealing Truth Teller.
- 31:46SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 31:47SPEAKER_00: At the very end of that book, does she open up a portal and give them back their dagger?
- 31:52SPEAKER_02: Um, she gives the mask back.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: She steals the mask?
- 31:58SPEAKER_02: She has to use it.
- 31:59SPEAKER_00: Fuck, I gotta finish that book, so I don't remember.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: That's what she goes in to borrow is the mask.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: She goes back again, and then I gotta finish it.
- 32:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm halfway.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Give me another twenty hours or something.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: Um and then they've been slowly releasing quotes.
- 32:19SPEAKER_02: So like this one says Lucian's heart thundered, throat drying out.
- 32:24SPEAKER_02: Maybe this had been a terrible idea.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: So there's definitely a Lucian POV.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 32:33SPEAKER_02: And then they released another quote.
- 32:37SPEAKER_02: And it says, There will always be sisters lost to us.
- 32:41SPEAKER_02: Ones we pray each day will find a way home to our sides.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: Weird.
- 32:48SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 32:49SPEAKER_02: No, I know what was I was I watching something about like the Valkyrie being involved in this story?
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean they're the Valkyrie But that's what I'm saying, like the Valkyrie sisters sisterhood.
- 33:08SPEAKER_02: Possibly that having something to do with that.
- 33:12SPEAKER_02: And then there was one last quote that was Um Was that today?
- 33:23SPEAKER_02: That was yesterday.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: And it says, was it possible for mates to unmate or for that bond to fracture deeply enough that there was no repairing it?
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: That's intentionally vague.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: Possibly.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Like is it just Elaine and Lucian or something else?
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't know.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: It's intentionally vague.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:54SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: We'll find out in about a month.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: And if they keep releasing things every uh couple days, we'll keep getting more little little tiny crumbs.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: To make us question more.
- 34:14SPEAKER_00: It could also be about the uh theory that Tamlin and were mates.
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: But he rejected the bond.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: And that this just this goes back to my other issue with that interview that Sarah did.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Where I know a lot of people are not going to agree with me, but she said basically in that interview that she would never give Tamlin any kind of a redemption arc because certain people in her life have said that um they felt a certain type of way about it because of some maybe abuse that they've had in their own lives.
- 35:10SPEAKER_00: And uh I don't know.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: It's it's disappointing that she would not attempt not even redemption, but like I don't know how to how to exactly word what I mean.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: But I feel like it would be good storytelling to maybe not redeem him, but somewhat redeem him.
- 35:44SPEAKER_00: Like he could do other things to sort of redeem himself.
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: You mean like he could go and help them with their cause to like make himself seem like he's trying.
- 36:04SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:04SPEAKER_02: Like Um I also can't think of the word.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: Repent?
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I guess it would be more repenting than redeeming.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: Admitting and trying to do better and maybe finding his own happy ending, even if it's not remotely tied to Fahera or anybody else.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: They do seem to be dropping hints that the spring court's magic is going to promote Elaine at some point.
- 36:47SPEAKER_02: Because you know, when they when somebody dies and there's no the power doesn't automatically go to the Yeah, and we don't even know how strong she is.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: Actually, um I was just listening to the beginning of Silver Flames.
- 37:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there's some hints in there.
- 37:04SPEAKER_02: About Elaine's powers and that the cauldron was seeking her out.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: So at the beginning, Nest is talking about it and how the cauldron didn't want her in there because she was gonna take from it.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: But the cauldron seek, you know, was giving Elaine power, and then it sought her out.
- 37:29SPEAKER_02: Essentially kidnapped her war and kidnapped her.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: Like it wanted her.
- 37:35SPEAKER_02: Um so we have no idea the depth of her power, she hasn't shown anything, which they go on to talk about, like they've never they haven't seen outside of like when she says, like, I hear, you know, rocks, the rocks.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know what you mean.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: I forget the exact quote.
- 37:56SPEAKER_02: Um, but outside of that, they lit Fahra literally says, I haven't seen a hint of Elaine's powers since.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: And there's uh in one of the chapters when Nesta, Cass, and Cassian are meeting.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: I haven't gotten there yet, so Eris in the spring court to do some spy work.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: Uh Nesta's like, god damn, Elaine would thrive here.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: So that I could see Tamlin dying?
- 38:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but in like a self-sacrificial way, maybe.
- 38:36SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 38:37SPEAKER_00: Like uh I can never fix what I did, but I can do this.
- 38:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 38:44SPEAKER_00: I just from anybody who's a big fan of Game of Thrones, there's this two to three book long, somewhat redemption arc of Jamie Lannister, where you know, you you don't forgive him for what he did, but you understand and you can tell he's trying to be better.
- 39:09SPEAKER_02: But then he doesn't.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: Then he goes back around and fucks it up.
- 39:14SPEAKER_02: I don't care.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're right, because George R.R.
- 39:17SPEAKER_02: Martin hasn't finished the books.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: When the book finally comes out, it's gonna have the same fucking story in it.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: No, but it's just it's it's you know, it's a good story.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: Could be a good story.
- 39:32SPEAKER_02: Maybe.
- 39:34SPEAKER_02: We'll have to wait and see what she does with Tamlin.
- 39:37SPEAKER_02: We will have to wait and see.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: Alright.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: Do you want to talk a little bit about Threshing Day?
- 39:45SPEAKER_02: I guess, yeah.
- 39:47SPEAKER_02: Um it was disappointing?
- 39:50SPEAKER_02: Slightly.
- 39:52SPEAKER_02: Yes and no.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: Like We knew it wasn't going to be anything pivotal.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: We did.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: I enjoyed getting to be in the minds of everyone to see like how they were actually feeling.
- 40:05SPEAKER_02: Because we only get Violet and Zaydan's point of view pretty much through everything else.
- 40:11SPEAKER_02: So getting to hear Dane's thoughts and slu.
- 40:16SPEAKER_02: There were some there were some things in there.
- 40:19SPEAKER_02: By the way, spoiler alert, we're talking about Threshing Day.
- 40:23SPEAKER_02: So if you have not read Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm, or Threshing Day, do not proceed to listen to this.
- 40:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, goodbye if you haven't.
- 40:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, goodbye.
- 40:38SPEAKER_02: Uh what was I saying?
- 40:44SPEAKER_02: Slone being super depressed.
- 40:46SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, well, I mean, I could read into that.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: I did read into the fact that she didn't want to be there and exist when we were reading um Iron Flame.
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 41:01SPEAKER_02: Was that Iron Flame or Onyx Storm?
- 41:03SPEAKER_02: That's Onyx Storm.
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 41:06SPEAKER_02: I don't, yeah, neither.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: Um but it was the scene with Dane saving her that was unexpected.
- 41:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they were both feeling some feelings there.
- 41:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a little bit.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: That uh Dane would break the rules to protect her.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: He wouldn't even break the rules for Violet.
- 41:31SPEAKER_00: Now, did he do that out of guilt for Liam dying?
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: For Liam, or a little bit of maybe he also could get lost in her eyes.
- 41:47SPEAKER_02: I feel like maybe it was a little la both.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:50SPEAKER_00: 80% Liam, 20%.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 41:57SPEAKER_02: And that's gonna push them to bond.
- 41:59SPEAKER_00: And then he says, I gotta go turn myself in for breaking the codex.
- 42:03SPEAKER_00: Did he?
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: I don't remember.
- 42:05SPEAKER_02: I have not reread that, so I don't know.
- 42:09SPEAKER_00: Because I feel like that would be a pretty big deal.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:19SPEAKER_00: Uh definitely some a little bit with Dane in his chapter and how much he uh did not like his dad's style of parenting.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: Um Yeah.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: He does he doesn't like that his dad is so overbearing.
- 42:48SPEAKER_00: Um and that he could never live up to his what his dad expects.
- 42:54SPEAKER_00: But this is before he gets his whole mind reading.
- 42:58SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 42:59SPEAKER_02: But he also comes to some sort of agreement with his dad there that he would spy for him, basically.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 43:06SPEAKER_00: So I think he's very before he gets his what is it called?
- 43:11SPEAKER_00: Their signet.
- 43:12SPEAKER_00: Their signet.
- 43:13SPEAKER_00: He's probably feeling like he can't live up to his dad's expectations.
- 43:18SPEAKER_00: But then he gets his signet and it's blows his dad's expectations out of the water.
- 43:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 43:23SPEAKER_00: So now he's daddy's number one good boy.
- 43:27SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 43:28SPEAKER_02: And he gets exactly what he wants.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 43:33SPEAKER_00: But then it it's interesting, you know, a book and a half later that he would break the rules to protect.
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: Well, towards the end of um, you know, I guess it's in Iron Flame, he's starting to come around to the idea.
- 43:54SPEAKER_00: And then I think once he actually sees the um Oh god, what do you call them?
- 44:02SPEAKER_02: Uh Venom?
- 44:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Venom.
- 44:06SPEAKER_00: Sorry, I'm s I've been so far out of this series.
- 44:08SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm struggling over here.
- 44:11SPEAKER_02: Uh they talked about Din Threshing Day.
- 44:13SPEAKER_00: Did they?
- 44:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they mentioned the Do they mention them by name?
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: Doesn't matter.
- 44:20SPEAKER_00: Uh I think once he really maybe you're right, maybe they don't.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: Once he really sees the whole picture, that's when he's like, I don't really agree with the way you guys have done this, but I'm going with the rebellion.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 44:38SPEAKER_00: Because he knows it's right.
- 44:40SPEAKER_00: Even if he doesn't agree with the methods.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: Oric's story was interesting.
- 44:46SPEAKER_02: Arik or I am so sorry, but I cannot refer to him as Oric.
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: It is spelled A-A R-I-C, and I will pronounce it Arik, and I don't care.
- 45:00SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, his his was interesting.
- 45:04SPEAKER_00: The very ending of his gonna tear the whole thing down, basically.
- 45:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's going to destroy his own monarchy from the inside.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:19SPEAKER_02: Cause he said everyone else in his family that's tried to uh go through Threshing Day, the last his three people before him didn't make it.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: Didn't make it, yeah.
- 45:30SPEAKER_00: It reminded me a lot of uh Rune Dann and Crescent City when he knows he's gonna be the last of his line from the um Oracle.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: When he's just like, fuck it, I'm gonna tear the whole damn thing down.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know, it reminded me of the same thing.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 45:53SPEAKER_02: But why?
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: I don't remember why he believed I mean, what ends up happening with that anyway.
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: The whole Venon thing.
- 46:01SPEAKER_00: He knows what's going on and he knows his dad's at the kings being a piece of shit by No, not that.
- 46:07SPEAKER_02: I was talking about Rune Dannon.
- 46:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay, my bad.
- 46:12SPEAKER_02: I got I I got distracted.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: Don't bring up other storylines right now.
- 46:18SPEAKER_00: Tangents in the middle of the tangents.
- 46:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 46:20SPEAKER_02: Was there any other lore drops in that uh No, I was just a little disappointed because I was expecting like the last part of it to be like Zaydan's point of view of what happened during Violet's threshing and how how he was feeling and what he was thinking during that part.
- 46:39SPEAKER_02: And all we got was him talking to um Liam.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: Liam before obviously running off to go to Violet and that whole scene, which is you know, I got it in Fourth Wing.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: But we get Violet's point of view, not his.
- 47:02SPEAKER_02: I was expecting his point of view in that.
- 47:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I wonder if she wrote it and then was like, nah.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: Maybe it doesn't quite fit in with what she's doing.
- 47:17SPEAKER_02: Because she did, um, now that people have been reading it and there was like a whole interview thing they did with her for this release.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: Um she did say that there were in each of the chapters little bits and pieces that will be important to the next book, but you don't need to read Threshing Day because they'll those little bits and pieces will be in the next book as well.
- 47:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:53SPEAKER_00: Um so the dragons bonding with people who are related to their past riders, which is forbidden they were doing deliberately.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, because of the rebellion.
- 48:14SPEAKER_02: They were going specifically for people like that have rebelled.
- 48:24SPEAKER_02: Sort of.
- 48:25SPEAKER_02: Although Rhiannon didn't.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: And hers was also right.
- 48:34SPEAKER_00: I zoned out a little bit during Rhiannon's.
- 48:39SPEAKER_00: I was listening while I was working.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 48:41SPEAKER_02: I'm trying no, I wasn't looking.
- 48:43SPEAKER_02: I'm trying to think um about Rhiannon's dragon.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: Unless hers wasn't.
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I'm opening up my Kindle to look.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: You know what I found slightly interesting?
- 48:58SPEAKER_00: Go ahead while I'll talk while you're open that up.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: Um when during during Liam's chapter, when Zaydan's like, oh, I gotta go with uh Segael's pet.
- 49:14SPEAKER_00: There's a problem with Segael's pet.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: Do not pronounce her name Segail.
- 49:19SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 49:22SPEAKER_00: Like I'm just just repeating how it is in the audiobook.
- 49:26SPEAKER_02: I don't like it.
- 49:27SPEAKER_02: That's how they pronounce it?
- 49:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: So when he finds out about um when he finds out about Andarna, he's like, Sigale, you have you have a daughter?
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: You have a b I didn't know you had a kid.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: And then she explains that it's more like an adopted baby.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: But he refers to having to go deal with Segael and her pet as if he's describing Andarna as Sigale's pet.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: Is that an inconsistency?
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: Did I hear it wrong?
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: I guess it doesn't matter.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: I was I just it caught my attention.
- 50:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't know.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: I didn't I don't know, because I didn't go reread Fourth Wing before this.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: Too much other stuff to reread.
- 50:22SPEAKER_02: Alright.
- 50:23SPEAKER_02: Um, so it looks like Rihannon's dragon has had three previous riders.
- 50:30SPEAKER_02: I didn't realize that Rihannon's sister, who was pregnant, was her twin.
- 50:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I didn't realize that.
- 50:38SPEAKER_02: She mentions it.
- 50:39SPEAKER_02: She says, you know.
- 50:41SPEAKER_00: Um thought it was like an older sister.
- 50:44SPEAKER_02: So my twin could sleep a little longer.
- 50:46SPEAKER_02: My heart twinges Reagan should be having her first baby around winter solstice.
- 50:51SPEAKER_00: Oh, interesting.
- 50:52SPEAKER_02: I do find it interesting that uh like a lot of them knew or could feel their dragon while they were out there.
- 51:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we only had it from Violet's point of view where she didn't had no fucking clue.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: No.
- 51:10SPEAKER_00: But some of them also had no idea.
- 51:12SPEAKER_02: No, like um Sawyer.
- 51:17SPEAKER_02: Sawyer had no clue to the No, but that's because he was a second year and the dragon that um bonded him was not ready.
- 51:30SPEAKER_02: Was not ready the year before that because he had just lost his rider.
- 51:35SPEAKER_02: Her rider?
- 51:36SPEAKER_02: Sorry, I don't remember.
- 51:38SPEAKER_00: It was an older guy, I think.
- 51:40SPEAKER_00: Older male dragon.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: But it was kind of nice.
- 51:44SPEAKER_00: Well, not nice, but came full circle for Sawyer when he was like, if I would have just known that you weren't ready, I would have been totally fine doing a whole nother year for you.
- 51:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: Um, but Rihanna has like, she wakes up to the picture of the dragon in her mind that wants to bond her.
- 52:09SPEAKER_02: And then it talks to her in her mind throughout the entire thing.
- 52:15SPEAKER_00: Uh did you notice how blatant Zaydan was being with being able to like read other people's mind?
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: Not blatant, but kind of almost obvious.
- 52:29SPEAKER_02: Do you feel that way because you already know it though?
- 52:33SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah.
- 52:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 52:37SPEAKER_00: He I can't remember what it was, but he was like, no, no, you're fine.
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: He's like, how could you possibly know that?
- 52:43SPEAKER_00: But it's because he's clearly reading people's mind around them.
- 52:52SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: It was more blatant in the text than it was Well, I think she only did that here because this is intended to be read after.
- 53:03SPEAKER_02: Mm-hmm.
- 53:05SPEAKER_02: She didn't do that in the others.
- 53:07SPEAKER_02: It wasn't as blatant.
- 53:09SPEAKER_00: No, but if you know when you go back and tell yeah.
- 53:13SPEAKER_00: Which makes rereading pleasant.
- 53:17SPEAKER_02: No, it doesn't mention anything about the previous.
- 53:22SPEAKER_00: Okay, were you assuming that she was like second generation rider?
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 53:28SPEAKER_02: I was well, I was trying to see if it said anything about that because all the others that knew or could feel their dragon were getting a dragon that like It's set up so they all get two signets, basically.
- 53:45SPEAKER_02: Sort of.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: Sloane Violet gets two, because she's got two dragons.
- 53:49SPEAKER_02: Sloane doesn't.
- 53:53SPEAKER_02: No, I don't remember if she does or not.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: Um, but her dragon isn't.
- 54:01SPEAKER_02: Her dragon is the sister dragon to um Liam's.
- 54:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was sad.
- 54:07SPEAKER_02: It was very sad.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: Liam's chapter was very sad.
- 54:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, Imogen.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: We find out later that Imogen has two signets as well, right?
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: If I'm remembering correctly.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: It's like Violet, Bo not Bodie, uh, Garrick.
- 54:30SPEAKER_02: Zaden and Imogen.
- 54:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I don't remember.
- 54:33SPEAKER_02: All have like double signets, which are supposed to be rare.
- 54:38SPEAKER_02: But I guess it's only rare if it wasn't made to happen by the dragons.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: Violet ends up with two signets, though, because she has two dragons, not because she's got like a hidden signet from bonding a dragon that was in her family previously.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: Right, but the dragons also kind of conspired to get her two dragons to begin with.
- 55:07SPEAKER_02: Yes and no.
- 55:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know that they were trying to get Andarna as her dragon.
- 55:13SPEAKER_02: They were conspiring for everyone else.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: So I was trying to look up Imogen's signets.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: Well, here I'll I'll show you the AI overview.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: Oh god.
- 55:26SPEAKER_00: So her main signet is erasing recent memories.
- 55:30SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 55:31SPEAKER_02: That's what she does to violate the end of Onyx Storm.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: Oh fuck, yeah.
- 55:35SPEAKER_02: They get married and I've seen someone asked a question.
- 55:41SPEAKER_02: Okay, go ahead.
- 55:42SPEAKER_00: Uh second signet theories.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: Opinions are mixed regarding a second signet.
- 55:48SPEAKER_00: Some fans and theories discuss a potential second ability, such as turning shields or objects to stone or enhance speed, though debates continue across the fandom.
- 56:03SPEAKER_00: Thanks.
- 56:05SPEAKER_00: Thanks, AI.
- 56:06SPEAKER_00: That was beautiful.
- 56:07SPEAKER_00: Enlightening.
- 56:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it really knows how to answer a question.
- 56:13SPEAKER_02: Um, for Image in what she did at the end of Onyx Storm erasing Violet's memory, so she couldn't remember marrying um Zaden and then all that other stuff that happened.
- 56:28SPEAKER_02: There was a question during the interview for Threshing Day with her asking if Violet if Imogen is the one who took Violet's memories, would Tarn remember?
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: That's a good question.
- 56:48SPEAKER_02: And she said only if he wasn't if he wasn't sleeping would he be able to remember.
- 56:56SPEAKER_02: If he was sleeping during that time.
- 57:07SPEAKER_02: And they were like, well, he couldn't have been sleeping the entire time.
- 57:10SPEAKER_02: And we know Andarna was awake for the entire time, which means Andarna would know.
- 57:17SPEAKER_02: And remember.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: And then, but the there was like a secondary question onto that.
- 57:22SPEAKER_02: Like, if Terran knows, is he keep keeping it a secret from her?
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: Keeping that information from her.
- 57:31SPEAKER_00: Wouldn't be the first time.
- 57:33SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 57:34SPEAKER_00: Um, do we know when the next real book is coming?
- 57:37SPEAKER_00: No.
- 57:39SPEAKER_02: She's still currently writing it.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: I see.
- 57:45SPEAKER_02: Because she's kind of She's writing the next book while also working on the um screenplay and script for the actual TV show.
- 57:56SPEAKER_00: And Michael B Jordan Turning making that or something.
- 57:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Michael B.
- 57:59SPEAKER_02: Jordan.
- 58:00SPEAKER_02: And uh, she's also turning Fourth Wing into a graphic novel.
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: So hopefully she doesn't put too much on her plate.
- 58:10SPEAKER_02: She already has.
- 58:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:13SPEAKER_02: Oh well.
- 58:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, turning a book series that you've already started and have three books out for into a graphic novel shouldn't be too difficult when you already have the source material.
- 58:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:29SPEAKER_02: You just need to hire the artist to create George.
- 58:38SPEAKER_02: Uh are you asking him to create a graphic novel for no, I'm just saying Game of Thrones?
- 58:46SPEAKER_00: He was he had a five-book lead or four books.
- 58:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 58:52SPEAKER_00: When they started the TV show.
- 58:54SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:55SPEAKER_02: And he still didn't finish the one book that he needed to before the end of it and still hasn't, and it has been 10 years.
- 59:06SPEAKER_02: No?
- 59:07SPEAKER_02: When was the last episode?
- 59:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, the last episode?
- 59:10SPEAKER_00: The last book, I believe, came out in 2012.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 59:16SPEAKER_02: But then okay, so it's been over 10 years.
- 59:19SPEAKER_02: It's been 14 years.
- 59:21SPEAKER_02: Almost 15 years.
- 59:23SPEAKER_02: And the last episode of Game of Thrones came out in what year?
- 59:27SPEAKER_02: Was that 2018?
- 59:30SPEAKER_00: Um It's been eight years?
- 59:32SPEAKER_00: It's been a long time.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:34SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 59:36SPEAKER_00: 2011 is when the Dance of Dragons.
- 59:39SPEAKER_02: Okay, so it has been 15 years.
- 59:41SPEAKER_02: Almost 16 years.
- 59:43SPEAKER_00: Uh 2019.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: May of 2019, I think, was the last episode.
- 59:51SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 59:52SPEAKER_02: So seven years?
- 59:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:54SPEAKER_02: Since last episode, and we still don't have a book.
- 59:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 59:59SPEAKER_00: Ah well.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_02: Maybe eventually.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: I like to believe he finished them and we'll release them.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_02: Posthumously so he doesn't get any backlash.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_02: Uh, I think that about wraps this up.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_02: If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or just want to say hi, you can email us at feedback at chapters and chatter dot com.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_02: Which will be in the show notes.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_02: Thank you so much for listening, and we'll catch you next time.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening.
