- Phillip Thomas: All right. I am ⁓ gonna kind of continue ⁓ from what we talked about last week and and some ⁓ you know, I wrestle with how deep to go into this relationship between Jews and Christians and and what that looks like. ⁓ it but I I just really feel convicted that we need to talk about this because I believe this is going to be a big deceiving ⁓ topic ⁓ in the days to come. Why do I say that? Because it's been a big deceiving con ⁓ topic for thousands of years. And and we kind of got lulled to sleep where most people didn't even really think about that on. I mean, how often did you think about Christians' relationship with Jews? Most people don't, which is a good good thing. We shouldn't be obsessed with this. But what we're seeing, and if you're on the online space and if you're kind of looking ⁓ in there, there are start starting to be arguments. And ⁓ and it It usually always kind of comes up. We start ⁓ applying what's going on in the world around us. ⁓ and and and and it it causes us to start thinking about things differently. So for example, what we what we are seeing is with this latest thing over in Iran, right? There there are a lot of people that are very upset about that. Right? There's just following on the heels of in t ⁓ twenty twenty three, a massive ⁓ attack on Israel. Israel has responded, right? People there are people that don't like how Israel has responded to having, you know, twelve hundred of their ⁓ citizens slaughter, right? I I'm gonna be careful on my judgment of that because I think if we would respond pretty harshly as well. Right. However, they're they're a fallen nation, just like we're all fallen nations because we're made up of people, right? So some of the ways that they go about things has people are are irritated about And then this last little movement, whenever our our current president said, you know what, we're gonna get into a an altercation with Iran, there are many people and I mean who are saying the reason we're doing this is because Israel is is calling the shots, right? And that is starting to bubble up and people are starting to talk about this stuff. Right. I I want us to talk about it because one, it's important. ⁓ it's important that we know what is true and that We need to understand that we have been in a spiritual battle from the beginning, right? That God is working for redemption, bringing us back into a relationship with Him. Satan has been working from the very beginning to do whatever he can to one, either keep you from that relationship, or if you enter into that relationship, deceiving you, where you will not be bringing anyone else into that relationship, right? So so it's a it's this constant battle that has been there. And and this this battle that we're seeing now between the relationship between Jews and Christians is bubbling up again. And I think it's very important that we understand that. ⁓ and and I will give you my basic understanding, my basic belief, and then we're gonna we ⁓ may be trying to ta take off more than we bite off more than I can chew, but we're gonna try. So so it Here's a good way to explain what's happening kind of in in certain circles, in Christian circles today. Right? You've got two camps, right? And and and it's more nuanced than this, but but this is a good way to think about. Over on this camp, you've got the side that says the Jews are responsible for all the ills of the world. Right? We've seen it, and you go back and look at what they did this, they did this. They're responsible, you know, they they were responsible for killing Christ. You know, all this. We there we we've ⁓ we've moved on. The church has replaced the Jewish people. So, you know what? Let's th they're they're kind of the bad guys now. On this side, you have no the Jewish people, they're still God's chosen people. He has a special relationship with them. He's working through them. They are are more special than anyone else, right? We should we should do whatever We can to appease the the Jewish influence. We should we should do whatever Israel wants to do, right? Kind of over the top that way. Okay, so I'm kind of in this spot. So when this side, you know, tells me, Hey, don't you why why do you love the the Jews so much? And and why do you think that there's a place for the Jews, you know, th that God is still working through them? I'll say, because I believe that's what the Bible says. And then this c this group over here, they would cheer, right? Yeah, yes, that's right. The Bible says that we are special. And then I say, but wait. The Bible also says if if you are strongly Jewish, but you do not believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and you die today, you are going to be separated from God for eternity. And then they would be upset, and then this side would be cracked. Yes, they're separated for God from eternity, right? All right. So both of those things are true. And I believe that's what the Bible teaches. The problem is, is we have we have 2,000 years of history that has just been slowly kind of integrated into our way of thinking. Right. And and so I I I want I want you for just a moment to take away everything that you understand from the nation of Israel. Whether whether the current nation of Israel is the prophetic Israel right is okay, we can have all of those conversations, right? Let's let's take that. Don't even think about that. We're not talking about the current politics, we're not talking about current geopolitical events, nothing. We're just gonna look at what does what does scripture point to in relation to the the chosen people ⁓ and then what's going to happen to them. All right. So Let's let's let's go. I'm just gonna try to read read from here. Let's we'll see how that works. It's not not always the best. But so going back to Genesis, Genesis chapter 15, verse 17. ⁓ God is speaking with Abraham, right? And he's he's telling him he's going to give him land. He's gonna he's calling them to be ⁓ to be ⁓ the people that he's going to ⁓ work with. It says, when the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking firepot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. All right. Those pieces were actually pieces of animals. This was a covenantal ceremony. And it was done at that time. These animals would be sacrificed because covenant, actually, the word cut is found in covenant. It was making a covenant. And so these animals were cut into pieces. And what normally would happen is both parties. That were joining into this covenant would walk through the the sacrifice pieces of animals, right? To solidify the covenant. But what here we have, ⁓ we have ⁓ this this is a covenant now between who? Between God and between Abraham, right? And the only one who walks through the pieces is God, because he's the one making the covenant. It is not based on Abraham's. Loyalty. Now Abraham was believed him and it was credited to him as righteousness, right? But the covenant was God's initiating. And it wasn't because Abraham was this great guy, and it wasn't because the people that God was going to establish were going to be this great and wonderful people that never messed up. No, they were human just like the rest of us. But God was making a covenant with them, and he was saying, This is going to be my people who I am working through. And one thing that was attached to that in verse 18, on that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your offspring, I give this land from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates. Now, I did not go the rest of the way, it just lists all the boundaries. It is a very specific place on the globe. It existed back then, it existed today. We call it today the nation of Israel. But actually the boundaries were much bigger than the current nation of Israel. Again, but we're not thinking about the current nation of Israel. If you read that, what does it sound like God is doing? He's establishing a covenant with this group of people that's going to have land. Right. And there's no indication that that's ever going to stop. And in fact, there's lots of pass passages that say it will not stop. Right? So then let's go to Deuteronomy chapter four verses twenty six through thirty one. So I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you were going over the Jordan to possess. So this is where the people have come out of exile. They've come out of ⁓ slavery from Egypt. Remember, they've been given the Ten Commandments. Now they're gonna be going into the land to conquer. They're gonna decide that they don't want to, 'cause they're chicken, and then they wander for forty years. All right. So so this is interesting. This is before the nation has actually been established and says that you you will soon utterly perish from the land you are going over the Jordan to possess. You will not live long in it, but will be utterly destroyed. And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you, and there you will serve gods of wood and stone. The work of human hands that neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. Br but from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in tribulation and and all these things come upon you in the latter days, you will return to the Lord your God and obey his voice. For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget. The covenant with your fathers that he swore to them. All right. So there are some different covenants that God made with the people. The Abrahamic covenant, the one that he made with Abraham, is that you are going to be my people. And ⁓ and and it's connected with land. Then when the people are going into the land, he says, I'm giving you the you this land. If you obey my commands, you will keep it. Right? There is conditional on that covenant. Right? And that's why we see what do we see all through the Old Testament is that the people would rebel and they would stop following God. They would start worshiping other gods. And what would happen? They would get wiped out, and eventually they get completely wiped out of the land because they are not being faithful. But yet, even in Deuteronomy, it gives an indication. That in the latter days you will return and call on me. Now, people will do people will interpret those latter days as being that as possibly already have happened, right? That they that that happened in kind of the time of Christ, right? And then once once the temple was destroyed in 70 AD, then that ended that completely. Possibly, but it may mean that in I I have increasingly found it really important that if we're actually going to take scripture seriously, that we just read it for what it says as much as possible. There are some things that are kind of confusing and we need to have context too, but but maybe scripture is telling us actually what God's plan is. And so maybe when it says in the latter days, That means the latter days of God's full plan when Christ will return again. So maybe, maybe latter days means latter days. Listen, there will be Christians that get very upset at you by taking taking this. No, it means this. Don't get bent out of shape about this. But let's be careful because what I've seen is that this interpretation that the Jewish people are now cut off and have no no place in in God's story anymore has led to horrific events. And we need to be aware of that. All right. So so here you have Deuteronomy. Now Ezekiel thirty seven. This is a great one. ⁓ Ezekiel is ⁓ the the dry bones. Remember the story and and the there's the dry bones and ⁓ and and and Ezekiel is receiving this. This is a prophecy. This is a prophecy of what is to come for the nation of Israel, for the people. So it says, So I prophesied as I was commanded, and as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and bows came together, bone to its bone. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh has come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. So right, so they they were they were kind of alive. But there was no breath, there was no soul, there was no purpose within them, right? So it so that they they had come back, right? And this again, this is this is all stuff that's happening. The people have been in exile. It's it's ⁓ it's prophesying the things that are going to be happening to this people, that they will be life dead, but then that they will reconstitute, but yet they're still not filled with the Spirit of God yet. That breath is the Spirit of God. So then it says, and so I looked, and behold, whoop, one more back. There you there we go. And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, flesh had come, skin had covered, but there was no breath in them. All right. Then he said to me, Prophesy to the breath, Prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God, Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on thee slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into me, and they lived and stood on their feet an exceedingly great army. Then he said to me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost, we are indeed cut off. Therefore prophesy, say to them, Thus says the Lord God, Behold, I will open your graves, raise you up from the graves, O my people, I will bring you into the land of Israel, and you shall know that I am the Lord. When I open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. All right. Let me stop right there just for a minute. So so what is what what is happening here? He's prophesying that eventually all of Israel will be restored, right? The the the breath of God, right, which that is that is Jesus Christ. The the the word is very similar to the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. It is, it is, it is his ⁓ moving. It's it's it's it's his. The powerful presence of his spirit will go back into the people. Right? And it says, and you shall know that I am the Lord when I open your graves and raise you from the graves, O my people. And I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. I have spoken and I will do it, declares the Lord. Then here we go. The Lord, the word of the Lord came to me and said, Son of man, take a stick, ride on it. For Judah and the people of Israel associ associated with him, then take another stick and write on it. For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and all the house of Israel associated with him. Okay, real quick. You've got to know your history. This is really it's really incredible stuff. Right? So whenever the the people came out, when they finally conquered the land, right, there were twelve tribes and ⁓ and and ⁓ and so now they had King Saul, King David, King Solomon, right? Then everything started going. Right. Why? Because they started worshiping other gods. Right. And what happened is the northern kingdom, which was made up of ten tribes, and it was associated with Joseph. They were conquered by Assyria about two hundred years before Judah would be conquered. Right? So so you have that group, they're they split, and so now there's a northern kingdom and a southern kingdom. Then the northern kingdom gets wiped off, right? And then the southern kingdom eventually gets wiped off. So what does this say? It's bringing those two sticks. It's acknowledging what had happened historically in the past. And it's talking about how they will all be brought together again. All right, so verse 17, and join them to one another into one stick, that they may become one in your hand. And when your people say to you, Will you not tell us what you mean by these? Say to them, Thus says the Lord God, Behold, I'm about to take the stick of Joseph as the hand of Ephraim and of the tribes of Israel associated with him. That would have been the ten tribes on the north. And I will join it with the stick of Judah and make them one stick, that they may be one in my hand. When the sticks on which you write are in your hand before their eyes, then say to them, Thus says the Lord God, Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone. So it's it's saying at some people at some point, all of the nation, they're just going to be spread everywhere. Right? Maybe that. You kind of look at history now, we know that that actually did happen. They were spread throughout the world. All right. I will take the people from Israel from among the nations which they have gone and will gather them from all around and bring them to their own land. What would that land be biblically? The land that we call Israel today. That's that is where it's talking about. And I will make them one nation in the land on the mountains of Israel, and one king shall be their king. King Jesus, King of Kings, Lord of Wards, that Christ will then be their king. He comes from the line of Judah. God has been working this from the very beginning. And so one day one king shall be king over all of them. We know that that king is Christ. And they shall be no longer two nations and no longer divided into two kingdoms. They shall not defile themselves anymore with their idols and their detestable things or with any of their transgressions. But I will save them from all the backslidings in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them, and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. In the book of Revelation, it talks about whenever Christ comes back, there is a new heaven, a new earth, and a new Jerusalem. And it talks about and how Christ is dwelling in the earth and he will be their God. It's just it's the So much of it is the same language, it's everything. So what is that saying? That one day, I'm not saying it's day. I'm not saying it's this reiteration of Israel that exists today. Take all of that out of your head. But if you just read this, it is very clear that at some point there is a regathering of God's people. And at that point, they will have the opportunity to turn again and recognize. Who the Messiah truly is. Now, up until that point, if you if they die without recognizing that Jesus is the Messiah, they will be separated just like anyone else will. Right? Does that make sense? This is not that complicated, and people are tearing each other apart about it. And it leads to some really ugly stuff. And even in the New Testament, ⁓ we actually see a ⁓ a reference to the fact that. The kingdom of Israel will be restored. There's quite a few, and there are tons of scriptures that I could have chosen, but this is in Acts chapter one, verses six through eight. And it says, So when they had come together, they asked him, Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? All right. So isn't that interesting? That's what they asked Jesus. Does Jesus, he does not chastise them? What does he say? He said to them, It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. So Jesus actually doesn't say, Hey, that's not happening. He says you don't know the time when it's going to happen. And I'm not gonna read ⁓ Romans ⁓ chapter eleven, so if you want to skip skip through that to the the next section now justin but romans chapter eleven is what i read last week i encourage you to read that slowly again it is very clear that paul sees the people the jewish people of which he was one of them he sees them as still having a unique relationship with God right and it specific specifically says that in the end all of Israel will be saved. And it's so it's talking about all of the people when Jesus comes back, that the Jews will recognize that and that they will be saved. All right. That to me, and I've read the arguments ⁓ that that try to make the case that that there's not going to be a future ⁓ gathering of the people. That's a big big word, right? But but you will hear very devout Christians with different views. All right. Here are the kind of the key things that that this replacement theology. What does that mean? What is that? It means that the church, right, has now replaced the true Israel. Right? So so all those promises to back in the Old Testament are kind of null and void because the the church has replaced the nation of Israel. Now that's interesting because nowhere in the Old Testament does it say that. It says these are covenants that God has made forever. Right? ⁓ There's also the belief that Israel is no longer the people of God. ⁓ especially after the destruction of the temple in A.D. 70. ⁓ that was God's public demonstration of his rejection of Israel and its people. So I want you to imagine, remember, Paul would have been dead by 70. Right? So Paul is still right in it, like like he believes what God has said. Right? Well, then 70 AD happens, and you have the the ⁓ The temple is destroyed. Basically, the people are completely dispersed. They are, for the most part, they are removed from the land. And so all of a sudden there starts to be this thinking. ⁓ wait, man, it if that happened, there's no way that this people group will ever come back. Right? That's the human way of thinking. It actually makes sense. And so you start reinterpreting scripture in light of what's happening. So people after seventy AD, they're looking at their current setting. And they're saying, wait, there is no existence of this Jewish people. They must be gone. So it must mean, you know, we're going to reinterpret some of those things that basically the church is now replaced Israel. Does that make sense? Right? And ⁓ and it's it's talks ⁓ Israel national rejection is permanent. ⁓ Israel has rightly suffered, continues to suffer because of their disobedience. The Jews are under God's divine curses for their disobedience. The suffering of the Jews is self-inflicted. ⁓ People who call themselves Jew today are the enemies of the gospel and the church. That is what this replacement theology, that that's basically what it does. Now it doesn't listen, there are people that believe this theology that don't hate Jewish people. Right. But everyone who hates Jewish people that claims they're a Christian has this theology. Does that make sense? All right. And and so you you you have this. So how could this have happened? I I believe that this was Satan's poison shell from the beginning. It was like, man, if I can cause deception, if I can cause consternation and divide the the the people that God has been working ⁓ through, right? God what was working through the Jewish people. That's how we have the Messiah, right? And all of those early apostles, they wanted their the people to follow Jesus. They're like, this is the Messiah that's been talked about in all those pages of the Old Testament. But many did not. And they did not give up on those people. But we have. So how did this happen? All right. I'm gonna run through these pretty quick because this but this is important to understand. What we're dealing with is not something new. And people who come up with certain things and they'll say, ⁓ you know what? I read about the Jewish people and they came up with the have you read the protocols of the elders of Zion. It was written back in that eighteen hundreds on their plan to control the world. And there is a document like that. It is by all accounts was fabricated and was not actually real. All right. But that is out there right now, all right, preaching against the the Jewish people. So here's the what a a quick timeline that after seventy AD ⁓ of what is going on. All right, first you have ⁓ a guy in one fifteen. So the numbers, that's one fifteen AD. A guy named I Ignatius. He was a b a church father. See, we're non-denominational and we're Protestant, and so we've kind of, to our detriment, not paid attention to church history. ⁓ I think it's important to pay attention to church history. So he wrote a letter. He argued that living after the manner of Judaism meant that a Christian had not received grace. Judaism and faith in Jesus were treated as mutually exclusive. That is not what Paul says in any way. But what is that time? 115. It's after 70 AD. There's been problems between Jews and Christians. Jews have persecuted Christians, right? And so there's starting to be this rift that is growing. So then to 120. ⁓ Barnabas, ⁓ he's he called Christians the new people. All right. So now all of a sudden you set you start having this idea that they that the church is replacing the Jews and said that the covenant was ours. He claims Jews lost it forever when Moses smashed the tablets at Sinai. Okay, there was a lot of other things that God worked with the people from that point until then, but I guess we skipped over that. One fifty, Justin Marty. By the way, all of these people that I'm saying said some wonderful things about they they were s strong Christians. They were foundational in the the ⁓ of how our faith really started going. But on this I believe they were extremely misguided and I believe it's a deception that we have to deal with today. So Justin Martyr, he insisted that the church, not the Jews, is Israel. We are the true Israelic Israelitic race. Right? He wrote this in one fifty, so I don't really know how to pronounce that. Ethnic in Israel was recast as a false or empty identity. Right? one sixty five. ⁓ Melito, he preached that Israel was precious before the church arose, but once the gospel came, the people was made boy. The nation itself was spoken of as a canceled motto. Paul asked that exact question. Well, does that mean that the people that Israel, that God's done with Israel? Paul says, by no means. But here is Melito changing that, right? But these are the only Remember, people aren't reading scripture. They're just being told, right? And so then in t twenty twenty, ⁓ not twenty twenty. Well actually you you will hear people say this in twenty twenty, but this was origin. He wrote with utter confidence that the Jews would never return to their former place because they had conspired against our Jesus. The fall of Jerusalem was proof God had chosen another people. So isn't that interesting? He's using his human understanding. It's like there's no way that that people group will be able to reconstit be reconstituted because that's never happened in the history of the world. Because it can't happen under man's authority. Isn't it interesting? He bases his opinion on that, not on what scripture says, but because ⁓ the temple was destroyed by the Romans in seventy AD. That's what he was basing his opinion on. And it started to shape this theology. So then in ⁓ three thirty, Tertullian. ⁓ arguing that the church has inherited Abraham's, David's, and the new covenant prop ⁓ promises. He used Daniel nine, the destruction of AD seventy, as God's public stamp of rejection. All right? Now, maybe that's what it was talking about. But it that that's a that's a stretch, right? That I believe that they are adding things that happened in their lifetime, and they were reading that back into scripture. All right. 315, Constantine. Remember, this is where Rome ⁓ actually becomes Christian after the empire turned towards Christianity. Jews were barred from living in Jerusalem. Attacking a convert from Judaism could mean being bird. And a Christian who joined the synagogue faced severe penalties. So now the The it's become the ⁓ our faith has become institutionalized. And what do you start doing? You go start going after your enemies. Well, if you believe the Jews are your enemies, you start going after them. 325, Council of Nicaea had some wonderful things that it clarified about the church. But then it says, Bishop separated Easter from Passover. So that Crit remember, what is Passover? Goes back to when the people were in in Egypt and the angel Passover. And then they came out of Egypt, across the Red Sea. Then where did they go? To the land that had been promised to them. What did Jesus practice? What did He where was he whenever he did the Last Supper? Passover. All of a sudden, all the all the Peter, James, John, all the apostles, Paul, what would they have practiced every year of their lives, even after Jesus rose from the dead? Passover. Why? Because Passover was pointing people to Jesus Christ. Yes, the Jewish people for the most part missed it, but that didn't stop those who saw it from still practicing that and worshiping the Messiah that Passover was pointing to. Now all of a sudden, by three hundred twenty five, they separate ⁓ Easter from Passover, so Christians would have nothing in common with this odious people. A feast Jesus himself was stripped of its Jewish. Of his Jewish calendar. All right. So then, 415, Augustine, one of the most in influential theol theologians out there, said the Christian people then is rather Israel, and that the Jewish multitude was corporally reprobated. He compared the nation to Judas and used his blood be on us as a standing curse. So all of a sudden now, and that's now remember when the people wanted Jesus killed, Pilate said, I'm washing my hands of this. And they said, May his blood be on us. Right? But there was no indication that was on them, those those people. It didn't it didn't necessarily mean all Jews are now guilty for this. But that this is now starting to be in the water table, right? And this is all coming from Christians and the Christian church. Then four hundred eighty-nine to five nineteen you start seeing ⁓ elevated ⁓ violence. There's synagogue riots, Christian mobs destroyed synagogues and Antioch, Daphnic. Ravenna, those are all in the Turkey area. All of that was Christian, by the way, at this time. ⁓ street violence now followed sermons and the law, so you start seeing violence rising up ⁓ around this time. Five thirty one, the Justinian Code. Again, all these are associated with the church. Jews could not build synagogues, read scriptures in Hebrew, ⁓ read scripture in Hebrew, assemble freely, keep Passover before Easter, or testify against Christians in in court. Jewish life was boxed in by imperial statute. Right? So you see what's starting to happen. 535 when in the synod, this is a gathering of all the bishops and you know, in their little ivory towers, you know, at above all of us plebes, and they come up with wonderful things, right? So at this place, Jews were barred from public office, from any authority over Christians. Civic power was defined as a Christian monopoly. All right. Six thirteen. In Spain, Jews were given the choice of baptism or exile. Many children over six were taken from their parents and raised as Christians. All right. 10, now we're skipping ahead. 1078, Pope Gregory decreed that Jews could not hold office or stand as superiors to Christians. This is the Pope over the entire Roman Catholic Church that is now saying Jews can't hold office, stand as superiors to Christians, a principle already in local councils was now spoken from Rome. Then in 1096, the first crusade. The crusades were were to go and to to free ⁓ Jerusalem from Muslim ⁓ influence. However, Lots of Jews were killed in this time too. A crusade moved towards the Holy Land that tacked Jewish communities. many were killed or chose death over baptism. We're talking about tens of thousands were probably killed. The next one in ten ninety nine, we actually have evidence of this written down in Muslim historical accounts that ⁓ after taking the city of Jerusalem, ⁓ there were ⁓ Jews were put into a a synagogue and that synagogue was set on fire. Right? This is done by the Christian army. Because of these warped theology that started forming after the Bible was completed. Right? 1189. Richard I Coronation. I remember that day well. There was a massacre in London, right? The Jewish leaders, they were ⁓ were not allowed to be part of it. They were stripped, flogged, and then it just kind of spread throughout the city. Time to go get the Jews. 1205, Pope Innocent. He wrote that by their own guilt the Jews are consigned to perpetual servitude because they crucified the Lord. The most powerful churchmen in in Europe assigned the whole people the role of slaves to Christian Christians. Very quickly, who crucified the Lord? We did, all of us. He died for the sins of the world. And attaching it to one particular group is evil and demonically inspired. Other than that, everything's going great. 1239. In 1239, Cope Gregory ordered church leaders in England, France, Portugal, Spain to seize Jewish books on the first Saturday of Lent. And the Talmud and any work suspected of blasphemy against Jesus was burned. A practice repeated for centuries. Right? Why do you think the Nazis burned books? Because this was already starting to happen. It was in the water table, right? 1285, the Munich blood libel starting to accuse Jews of using Christian blood to to make their matzah. I mean, this is serious. And you you will still hear this stuff. I promise you. Says the entire ⁓ Jewish Jewish community of Munich. About 180 people were burned alive ⁓ after the charge that ⁓ Jews had murdered a child and used his blood. Crazy stuff. 1434, marks of shame across all of Europe. ⁓ this this is a example of what's happening across ⁓ Europe. A Jewish man had sewed yellow buttons on their clothes. In 1434, across the con continent, Jews were made to wear long garments, yellow patches, bells, tall pointed yellow hats. 1478, Spanish Inquisitions. Read about that. You will be horrified. 1492, Columbus sells the ocean blue. And ⁓ by the way, all Jews get out of Spain. Right? It was a mass ⁓ removal of of ⁓ the Jews from from Spain. Fifteen fifty five, fifty six, all all of fourth. Yes, my wrong new words fourth. Jews were forced ⁓ into a few overcrowded streets that flooded with the Kyber each year. They had to plead annually for the right to remain and pay a crushing tax. The ceremony was still observed as late as eighteen fifty. The Jewish ghettos that we associate with what happened in Nazi Germany already starting to be there. John Calvin in 156 ⁓ sixty knew that a few, if any, Jews, because he wasn't around any because they had already been kicked out, but he still wrote that their rotten and unbending stiff nakedness deserve to be oppressed unendingly without the pity of anyone. Now, even if everything, even if every conspiracy about the Jewish people is true, as Christians, is this how we should be responding to? To a group of people, even if all the bad stuff is true? No. These responses are not Christian in the least, which is why. And these are from Christian people. Right? And in in other areas of their life, they're living out their Christian life. But in this one area, they're willing to use this type of language. How is that possible? Because it is a spiritual attack. That is the only way. 1750. You've may have heard the term the Jewish question. Well, what do we do with them? Right. That phrase first happened around 1750, and coming up with solutions. 1881. You have in Russia numerous pogroms. So all the people, they've been spread out throughout the world, right? Now the the pogroms would go in, they burn their homes, all of that stuff. And it it started a movement, especially at this point. Where there were groups of people saying, we need to figure out how to get our own land. Right? And listen, there's some bad, ugly stuff that happened in that process too. But then that leads us to 1933, 45, of course, the Holocaust. Nazi Germany murdered around six million Jews. ⁓ anyone who starts going down the road of discounting the Holocaust. Pray for them. I don't know how you're going to change their mind. I mean, this is this is things, this isn't stuff from, you know, ⁓ three thirty AD. This is stuff from last century that we have documentation on. And there are people today that don't believe it. Now, maybe it wasn't exactly six million. I've even heard people say, yes, they really overestimate that number. It may have only been like four million. ⁓ Much better. Yes. Hitler not so bad. Only four million? I mean I mean my cutoff is it's kinda like I never play the lottery until it gets like over five hundred million because who wants to win four hundred and ninety million? Huh? Six million, four million. All right. Not because I'm sensing it from anyone here. But I am sensing this in the world. And it is dangerous. And guess what? The Christian church is responsible for most of the evil against the Jewish people. Now, the Islamic, and we're going to be talking about that later, that ideology has picked up on that. All right. But it started with Christians and it is still there. And we need to be careful because I don't understand how you get to this point where you have this kind of disdain for people. And I'm seeing it online from Christian pastors. But this, who knows who Martin Luther is? You all should. Protestant Reformation, whenever the Catholic Church split, and you have Protestants, right? Martin Luther was kind of the head of that, right? And he was like, No, it's ⁓ faith is. ⁓ you know, salvation is through faith alone. And he was pushing back against a lot of problems in the church. This is something he wrote. What then shall we Christians do with this damned, rejected race of Jews? Since they live among us and we know about their lying and blasphemy and cursing, we cannot tolerate them if we do not wish to share in their lies, curses, and blasphemy. In this way we cannot quench the inextinguishable fire of divine rage, nor convert ⁓ the Jews. We must pray for and reverentially practice a merciful severity. Perhaps we may save a few from the fire and flames of hell. We must not seek vengeance. They are surely being punished a thousand times more than we might wish them. But let me give you my honest advice. So he just says we must not seek vengeance, right? ⁓ but they're all horrible. And we really shouldn't spend time trying to save them, right? But if some do get saved, great. But hey, let's just kind of ⁓ move on. ⁓ says ⁓ but then he says, Let me give you my honest advice. First, their synagogue should be set on fire. ⁓ that's a good way not to show ven vengeance, right? The their synagogue should be set on fire, and whatever does not burn up should be covered or spread over with dirt, so that no one may ever be able to seize a c a cinder or stone of it. And this ought to be done for the honor of God on Christianity, in order that God may see that we are Christians, and that we have not will wittingly tolerated or approved of such public lying, cursing, blasphemy of his son and his Christians. Secondly, their homes should likewise be broken down and destroyed, for they perpetrate the same things that they do in their synagogues. For this reason they ought to be put under the ⁓ root Or in a staple like gypsies, in order that they may realize they are not masters in our land, and and as they boast f but miserable captives, as they complain of incessantly before God with bitter wailing. Thirdly, they should be deprived of their prayer books and town talmen, in which such idolatry, lies, cursing, blasphemy are taught. Fourthly, their rabbis must be forbidden under the threat of death to teach any more. Fifthly, passport, traveling privileged privileges should be absolutely forbidden to the Jews. For they have no business in the rural district, since they are not nobles, officials, merchants, or the lie. Let them stay home. To sum up, dear princes and nobles who have Jews in your domains, if this advice of mine does not suit you, then find a better one so that you and we may all be free of this insufferable, devilish burden, the Jews. That is dark, dark stuff that most of us don't even want to think about. And we just kind of go along our merry way. By not thinking about it, by not understanding it, Satan will be able to twist your heart and your mind to come to a place like that if you're not careful. That is what the spiritual battle does. It is ugly. And be careful with what you're seeing now. We need to be praying. For Jewish people. We need to be praying that they come to know the Lord. But you know what? We also need to be standing up with them against this kind of hate. And this kind of hate is still out there. Yeah. And you know what? This doesn't mean that we have to be the number one ally of the current nation of Israel. It doesn't mean we have to vote for Bibi Netanyahu, right? It has nothing to do with that. But some people are mad about that. And they're opening themselves up to go to a place where they would say write the same thing that Martin Luther did. This has happened throughout history. And anyone who says, ⁓ that couldn't happen today is foolish. That is not wise. So I hope I hope you understand why I thought it was important to go through this. Because this is this is darkness. And we need to bring light into darkness. So if you have friends and you have other Christians that are kind of going down that path of, man, the Jews are just a really big problem. Man, let's let's step back, begin praying for them, helping them. Understand, don't go down this road. It gets ugly. And I do believe when we're in the end, the latter days, this is going to come to a head again. And guess what? We as Christians, we we need to be on the right side of that. And that's on God's side. And God is still faithful to his Jewish people. Even though they've rejected him, they didn't walk through that covenantal fire. That's right. He did. Amen. And he's going to keep that covenant. No matter what. But I thank God that he opened that cup and it up to us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Let's go to here. Little lights in Christ Impacting his kingdom and loving the Sing to him. Yeah.
