- 0:05SPEAKER_01: Hey besties, you have my real life bestie here with me today.
- 0:10SPEAKER_01: Uh my dear, dear friend Nicole Crohn.
- 0:14SPEAKER_01: I think that's what you go by, right?
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:15SPEAKER_01: Your last name.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:16SPEAKER_01: Um, I think I have a different last name for you somewhere else.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: But Nicole Crohn is a true Canadian bestie of mine that I met in the US of all places, and we instantly bonded over being Canadians.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: But more importantly, Nicole has an energy.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: It's not even a mindset, it's the energy and the presence that just makes everybody around feel valued, seen, belonging.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Like you just see such goodness in people and all the people.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: And that is such a magnetic energy that draws people in.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: So you while you don't get to meet her in person yet, some of you may have, she's here with us on the Found Here podcast today.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Welcome, Nicole.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Hi, Kim.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love that introduction.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: I love you.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I'm so grateful that we met because it was we were like moths to a flame.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: It was we were like you.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and then just stuck by each other's side the whole time.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And yeah, it's it's amazing how much we've been able to see each other this past year that we're not in that mastermind.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: But like I know, hey, I I think I I think I will next in two weeks will be my fourth or fifth time seeing you this year.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: That's crazy.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and we don't we live in different provinces, yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: Uh so that's beautiful.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: I'm really I I too am very grateful.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Nicole, tell everybody a little bit about give it people a little bit more context.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: Who you are, what lights you up, what fills your soul.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: And I know there's been a recent change in the last six months around that.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, but tell us a little bit more about you.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, I mean, like there's so many different places I could start.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: But I think one of the things that I'm really proud of, and is also like a part of my story, is I'm from a really small town in Nova Scotia.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: So I was born and raised, went and did all my schooling, both my undergrad and after that, my education degree, like everything in Nova Scotia.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: And I think that there is just something about East Coast people as a culture, as a whole.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: We like to be known as being really hospitable and inviting and welcoming.
- 2:19SPEAKER_01: That's where that comes from.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's kind of like, you know, you meet a stranger and it's like, oh, come on over to our house for dinner.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Like, we'll find room for you, sort of thing.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I'm really proud that my roots are from Nova Scotia.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: My parents still live there, all of my family lives there, like aunts, uncles, cousins, everything like that.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And then I after I got my teaching degree, there were no jobs in Nova Scotia.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: So that took me to a remote community in northern Alberta.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: So I was about eight hours north from you.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: And I stayed up there for quite a few years teaching.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And I didn't know that.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: I was up in high level and I was teaching at a junior high high school.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And I on paper felt like I was ticking all the boxes.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: You know, I was just about to turn 30.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: I had my own classroom.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: I had the pension.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I had the benefits.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: I was engaged to the person I had been with for six years.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Like it was all lining up.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: You like went to school, went to university, got the job, got the.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, look at that.
- 3:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Zoom likes this.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: It's giving me thumbs up.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I was like, wow, I've like really made it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: I'm doing all the things that everybody else I know at my age is doing.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: You know, they're starting to buy homes, have babies, get married, move up in their career.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, tick, tick, tick.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: I guess I'll do all those things too.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: All the while denying my intuition.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: And what I really wanted was none of that.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: I wanted to be a free bird.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: I wanted to be nomadic, traveling around.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: And I was just like ignoring my intuition so much because I really just felt like, oh, my time was up.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: I'm about to hit 30.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Like it's crazy looking back.
- 3:54SPEAKER_01: It's funny how we think we're so old at 30, hey.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: And it, but actually, there is a lot of, well, I can't speak for 30-year-olds now, but when I was approaching 30, I felt like there was this sense of societal expectation of like you you need to start to have your life together by now.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Like, surely you have a savings account.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, uh-oh.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: So all of this is happening.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: And long story short, I find out that my fiance is cheating on me.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: So we call off the wedding.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: And I go away and just heard, I just heard that whole story the other day at your house.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: That was wild.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: That's crazy.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: That's a whole other podcast.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: That's a whole other podcast.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: It was like the biggest blessing.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So I find out that he is cheating on me.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: We call off the wedding, but I had already signed a contract, my contract to go teach up north again.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: So I had to go up north for another year and teach.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And so I'm up there and I kind of dipped into this version of myself.
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: Not kind of, I really dipped into a version of myself that was unrecognizable.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: And I thought I was hiding it really well.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I was partying a lot on the weekends.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: So I would teach Monday to Friday, and then I would cope or mask with how sad, lonely, unsure I felt about my life with a lot of alcohol Friday through Sunday, and then feel anxious and wake up and then teach again.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And it was like the cycle, right?
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: And for my 30th birthday, I went on a trip with my sister, and she said, We're all kind of concerned about you.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: And I think maybe Oh, like an intervention?
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Um, and she said, I think you should take a year off teaching, leave up north, and go overseas.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Like, go visit your friend who lives in Australia, take a break, and just like re find yourself.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Really?
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: People like anybody's noticing?
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: I thought I had it all together.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: She was like, no, Nicole, like to sell for the listeners.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: If you think you got your shit together, chances are people the people who really care about you and love you, they notice.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: And it and it's important that if you're listening to this and you recognize that in somebody, that you tell them.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Because I was like, oh, that kind of felt like my saving grace and my permission because I had never considered that I could stop teaching, you know, five years in.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: I thought I'm in this for the next 30 years.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I did not know that that was an option, truly.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Christine, I can't quit my job.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: I can't do that.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: And she said, Yes, you can.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: You absolutely can.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: You can take a year off.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: And so that April, I told my principal, I'm gonna take a year off.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go overseas.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'll I'll see you in the year after that.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: I just need a year.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: And everybody that I worked with was like, You're crazy.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: I can't believe you're gonna do that.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: Hey, when you walk away from a solid, stable employment, people are like, What is wrong with you?
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And I was like, it's just a year, it's just a year, it's not a big deal.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Well, I never went back to teaching.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, 10 years later.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: 10 years later, I yeah, I really found myself or I started to find myself on that journey to Australia.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: But what moving to Australia for a year taught me, I was a lot of things, but I actually don't even know if I could tell you that I knew what an entrepreneur was at 30 years old because I was just like so head down in like, this is what I need to do to be a teacher.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: So I get to Australia and I notice everybody is like a digital nomad working on their laptops and coffee shops.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: It was like sounds cliche, but it was true.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: And I start to look around and I'm like, everybody's making money from their laptop.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Like, surely I'm smart enough and I can figure this out.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: And so I set out on a mission in 2016-2017 to figure out how I can be a teacher still, but online.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: And so I was playing around with courses and and different things like that, but couldn't really figure it out.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: I'm a huge visionary, too optimistic for my own good.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: And um, so I tried a lot of different things and there was a lot of trial and error, more error.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: And then I took my coach training, and that really felt like, oh, this is what I'm supposed to do.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: I could figure out how to do sales in coach training.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: I figured out how like who I want to coach, how I want to coach.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: And then I met my now business partner, Kayla, and we started our company six and a half years ago.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: But yeah, you never looked back, never looked back, but I feel like now I actually feel like I'm living on purpose and I'm not denying my intuition anything that it's telling me.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: But if I could go back to Nicole 10 years ago, I would just like love to give her a big hug and say, like, it's it's gonna be okay, but I had no clue.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: No clue.
- 8:30SPEAKER_01: You're now uh six years into your entrepreneurial journey.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: You and your co-founder um have really built something special.
- 8:38SPEAKER_01: Uh tell us a little bit and tell us a little bit about what you've built, what you guys do, what my line purpose is about, uh, because there's something a little bit magical about what you guys do.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so Kayla and I were both coaches, and we got introduced by another coach, and we were working for her as associate coaches.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: And uh we decided one day, let's coach each other.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: So every Monday, Kayla and I would get together, we'd pour a cup of coffee, we'd meet on Zoom, I'd coach Kayla for half hour, 45 minutes, and then she'd coach me.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: And and I was trying to coach her on, she had a blog called The Money Edit.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Kayla's really into money and investing and all of that.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: And I've always been really into mindset and manifesting.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: And so she was coaching me on how to build out that business.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: And it was like we were coaching each other, but neither of our individual businesses were really taking off.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: And then we were also associate coaches for this other woman.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: And then COVID hit March of 2020.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: And I think by April, I think maybe we were a month in, she had brought us on to a meeting, the associate coaches, and she said, I have to let you all go.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Like, I just can't guarantee where my business is gonna go with everything that's happening in the world.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: So, like, good luck.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: And we got off that phone call and texted each other and said, Let's hop on a call.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: And I said to Caleb, should we start a business together?
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: You know, I I could teach mindset and manifesting, and you could teach money.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: And so we decided to make a course and it was called Manifesting Money Masterclass.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Kim, we had no clue what a launch plan was, what a funnel was.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: We didn't have an Instagram, we didn't have a website, no email list, nothing.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: And we both just kind of shared with our personal audiences, and my audience knew me as being the person who was really into mindset manifesting.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: So this was not a shocker to anybody who'd been following me.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: When I say my audience, I mean my friends and family.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: I didn't have an audience.
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: You didn't have like a 200,000 uh email list or Instagram following.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: No, and same with Kayla.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: So, you know, her audience, same thing.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: Friends and family knew that she was into money.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: So we said, hey, we're gonna design this course.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: It's called Manifesting Money Masterclass.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: We're gonna teach you these four pillars, and it's going to be um, you have to believe that money is energy.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: That was the first one.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Um, the second one was clarity around what you want with your money.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: The third one was um your beliefs, limiting beliefs around money.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: And the fourth one was uh your worthiness around money.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: That's what this whole course is gonna be about.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: If you want in, let us know.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: Well, we had 50 people sign up, and we had 50.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: Wow, you guys, I could just see you guys in the back celebrating, be like, holy cow.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: I thought I won the lottery.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: We had it was a we sold it for 189.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: So that was just shy of$10,000.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: And it was the first thing we'd ever sold.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh my gosh, we're on a roll.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: This is crazy.
- 11:36SPEAKER_00: So we were like in the middle of delivering that in June of 2020, and then we were like, okay, well, you have to create something else to sell next.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: So then we created another four-week course called Elevate Your Voice, Elevate Your Business.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: And that was all like, I'm really into like the chakra system.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: So it was that if you unlock your throat chakra, then what can happen with your disability and your business?
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: Well, we got 50 people in that.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: So we were like, okay, so then that was June, July, and then August.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: We were like, let's sell manifesting money masterclass again.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: And then we got 50 people into it.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Some were repeat, and then we got some new.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: And so we were just cruising, right?
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Like course after course, having these$10,000 months.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: And so then we finally bought a podia website and we changed a Instagram, Kayla's old Instagram, into My Line Purpose.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: And uh, and then Kayla was having her baby, her first baby, September of 2020.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: So I was like, okay, we got to do something that I can facilitate on my own so you can be home with your baby.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: So I said, okay, I'm gonna open up an eight-week mastermind.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: I didn't even know what I was talking about.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Uh I don't even know if I had ever heard of a mastermind.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Maybe I just saw somebody say it on Instagram.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Eight-week mastermind, and we're gonna cover seven of the chakras and then have an integration week, and I'm gonna bring in a guest expert every week.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Well, we went from selling our first three courses at$189 to this one was gonna be$7.99,$800 for a big stretch, big stretch.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: Did not know how we were gonna what we were gonna do, but then 16 people bought that.
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: And we were like, oh, people want what we have.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: After that, mastermind and Kayla was off with her daughter.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: I went for a walk, and this is where all my best ideas come from.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: And I was like, we need to offer a year-long coaching program.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: And I would love to get six people and let's charge$10,000 for a year.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: That just seems like out of this world.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: And we posted on Instagram and six people signed up.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: What?
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: Yes, and so we were like, okay, let's go.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: That was closed enrollment.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: That was the only basic, like, basically the only income that we had coming in for that year.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: But um, then we opened up this membership called Coffee Club that was based off of the premise of how Kayla and I used to meet and cheers our coffee.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: We ran that membership for 32 months, just shy of three years.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: And that was, you know, went from$20 a month to$40 a month to$97 a month.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: And we were just getting people in it all the time.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: And every Monday we were meeting and we were talking about what personal development books we were reading, cheersing our coffee, and just built the most epic community so that when we started to open the doors up to aligned CEO method in a more open enrollment, we had all of these people that we'd been talking to for three years, but didn't have a way to work with them that we were like, okay, come on in.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: And you know, the shift from creating courses and talking more about energy into being business coaches came from we're both, I'm a generator, Kayla's a manifesting generator.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: So we we are here to respond, but a lot of people were like, Teach me how to sell courses and and sell because like clearly you two know how to do the business side of things.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: So we were like, All right, I guess we're business coaches now.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And that kind of just happened in like 2021.
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: And you guys like that's it's that I've not heard the story like flow through that way, like in those p I've heard chunks over the years, and so I right now, like so.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: Now we're in 2026, you guys have like a 40-person like annual membership.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: They and the majority of them, I mean, I know you have new people come every year, but you guys retain a a large portion of your clients.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Um what do you think is the reason they come back?
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: What is your magic?
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Our magic.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Because I I don't mean to be rude, but there are many different types of masterminds nowadays.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: Like, sounds like you guys were on the cutting edge at the beginning, but now like there's lots of different types of masterminds, um, business coaches.
- 15:31SPEAKER_01: What is your magic?
- 15:32SPEAKER_01: Because you guys have really been able to maintain this and and you're not doing you're not running paid advertisement.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: No, no, we do everything organic.
- 15:41SPEAKER_00: I think like if we were to ask the our clients why do they keep coming back, they would say the community, but then what makes the community so special?
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: I think it's that Kayla and I genuinely believe there is enough to go around.
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: I don't ever feel like if you're a business coach inside of our program, I'm never gonna market you or tell people about you.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: I don't, I don't think that way.
- 16:02SPEAKER_00: I actually, at my core, my belief system is there is enough to go around.
- 16:06SPEAKER_00: What's available for me is available for you.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: So how can we all share each other's stuff?
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: How can we all collaborate?
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I was just saying this to a client before getting on this call with you.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: She said, I the reason I don't ask the group, like the Alliance CEO Method group, to share my stuff all the time is because I just don't want to feel like I'm asking too much or taking up too much space.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: And I said, Well, that's what we're all here for.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: And I said, you know, in my mastermind, the one that you're you and I are in together, I made an ask yesterday of can everybody put our book launch into your calendars and write this down?
- 16:39SPEAKER_00: Would you be willing to share it with your emailist?
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: And is there anything I can do for you?
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: Can I share something for you?
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: Like how can I support you?
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: So the we really are trying, I think it's working, training our audience to not just ask for what they want, but to say, how can I refer you to be giving and to be collaborative?
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: And you know, I've been in so many masterminds or or calls or things where people don't let you market yourself.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: It's like, don't drop it in the chat or you're not allowed, it's got to be approved in a Facebook room.
- 17:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: Every single call we host, we say, drop your links.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: How can we work with you?
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: What's your newest opt-in?
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Can we get everybody on there?
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Can you share this person's social post?
- 17:20SPEAKER_00: Like we are we are doing the most to let everybody know that your message, if if it goes as far as the 45 people who are in the mastermind, well, that's better than none.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: But also those 45 people in the mastermind know at least one person.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: Um, but chances are more.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: And so, like, you put your stuff out there because we want to see you grow.
- 17:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and you guys do over you guys do a lot to make people feel special.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: You recognize you guys recognize and see people.
- 17:50SPEAKER_01: I know that um in the little gestures that we do with your clients and the way you have uh at least what I've seen, I've not been your client, but um, the way you manage uh VIP days and strategies, like you're very, very intentional.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Uh, and I think, you know, to me, that's the magic that people are saying that's the magic that drew me in as just friends.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: So I think that people get that on the inside.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: And I think you guys are doing a wonderful job at that.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: Tell me what is your later latest project?
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: You mentioned the book, so let's talk a little bit about that.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the book.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's crazy.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: We said in the fall of 2024 we were gonna write a book.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: And then we joined the mastermind that we ran with you with the harders.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: And in that March, uh, we declared, okay, we're really gonna write the book.
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: Um, and so uh we originally thought we would make that declaration.
- 18:41SPEAKER_00: Before we made that declaration, we thought we'd put the book out at our She Leads 2025 event.
- 18:46SPEAKER_00: And then uh we got into the group with all of you, and everybody was like, that is way too short of a runway.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: So we're like, okay, um, then we will launch the book December 2025 before the end of the year.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Well, I left EEM that March and two weeks later found out I was pregnant.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: My baby's due date was December.
- 19:03SPEAKER_00: We were like, okay, well, that's not gonna work.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: So then we thought, okay, we then we started working with our publisher, publishing team, and we said we'd like to have the book in the hand in everybody's hands by She Leeds 2026.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: They were like, that's too short of a runway.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: Um, so now we finally have uh here September 18th.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Uh the book comes out, came out, depending on when you're listening to this.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: And uh our book is Align CEO Method, How to Stop Trading Your Time for Money and Have Your Most Profitable Year Yet, because this is really the work that we found ourselves doing with everybody.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: And it came from our own personal experience as well.
- 19:39SPEAKER_00: In 2022, Kayla and I had 46 one-to-one clients.
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: This is, you know, what we we scream looking at our calendar in 2022.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: We're like, um, remember when we were on Zoom for literally eight hours a day, every day.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: Back to back to back with these 46 clients.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: And then we made that decision to move everybody into a group container.
- 20:01SPEAKER_00: And uh, so we know how to do that.
- 20:03SPEAKER_00: And we know that it's hard and we know that it's possible, and um, but you need the right systems and strategy and mindset in place to do that.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: So now that's what we help a lot of people with.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: It's like, you know, we'll meet an accountant who has been working all of their people, and the only way that they're gonna make more money is if they take on more clients, or that's what they think, but there is another way to scale from one to one to one to many.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, now we find ourselves working with naturopaths and RMTs and doctors and accountants and realtors and all these people who they're super they're excellent at what they do.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: They're actually subject matter experts.
- 20:36SPEAKER_01: That's what I say.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, they're subject matter experts, but they just don't quite know how to scale yet, and or they're just super lonely and want a community.
- 20:45SPEAKER_00: So um, you know, aligned CMOT provides both.
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: What would you say has been the biggest learning you've had from the transition from paid employment to self-employment?
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: I call it the I call it the you eat what you kill.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Ah yes.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: Like what has been the biggest learning and um transition for your transformation in that?
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Because it's Yeah, a couple things.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: I think that it's like, woo-hoo, like there's no cap on what you earn, but also you don't earn unless you get out there and make that sale.
- 21:19SPEAKER_00: So that's one.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Um, it's like, oh my gosh, nobody's yes, learning to sell.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Um, that a paycheck is not guaranteed.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: And uh the other one is kind of like a woo-hoo, like nobody's in charge of my schedule, tell me where to be and when.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: But also, if you're kind of squirrely and ADHD like me, then it's like, uh oh, I need to figure out a way to manage my schedule.
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: Cause if not, the whole day is gonna go by and I'm gonna be like, what did I even do today?
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: So I've had to really learn how to be intentional with my time and with scheduling.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: And then now I, you know, I didn't share this in the whole journey of how I where I came to be now, but I'm a new mom.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Um, and so also figuring out now how do I do this scheduling as a new mom and how do I figure that out?
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: Um, and so that's been a really interesting learning curve as well.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: So now that you okay, so now that that's not because that's always people are like I I do franchise recruiting and the biggest gap mindset is going from paid employment.
- 22:20SPEAKER_01: So I call it from paycheck to profit, right?
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: And understanding like the mindset around that.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: Um, and I I always believe that people are in a false state of security when they work for somebody because they don't have to worry about the generating the revenue or generating the work, they just have to do their work.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: But at any point, they could get an email, a phone call, a tap on the shoulder, and that all ends.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: And right, so it's kind of like this false state of security.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: When we're on our own, we know you know exactly what's coming down the pipeline.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: You know, when you have to start working and figuring out the sales process as well or how to generate revenue.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: So um, you're never you're never really truly surprised.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: You can be frustrated because maybe certain things, you know, you're learning different ways to get your message out there.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: So I love how always having that conversation for those that are sitting on the fence, knowing that if there's not this magical moment, you just yeah, you learn as you go.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Those are the stripes you earn, if you will, like the scars.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think another thing too is like I am a risk taker and I know that lots of people aren't wired like that.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Whereas when we went in on my line purpose, I gave up my teaching license.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: I just jumped.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: I I wasn't like I didn't have a year's salary saved or anything like that.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, I'm going for it.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: But I also have a deep trust in myself that I will always figure it out.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: And I also know I'm educated and I'm experienced and I'm employable.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: So if this all for some odd reason crumbled to the ground, like I'm gonna find a way to make money.
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Like I will figure it out.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: I would ideally like it to be in this business.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Um, but I I don't know if you've ever heard of the book by Bo Isam, There's No Plan B for Your A game.
- 24:01SPEAKER_00: I feel like that's how I'm wired.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: If I don't think there's a plan B, then I'm head down all in on just this.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: But I think a lot of people, when they know they've got their backup, whether it's a spouse or a cushion or whatever it is, then I'm not saying that those people aren't go-getters.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: I'm saying if that was me, I might fall to the like, well, I don't have to really try as hard this month or whatever it is.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: But I don't have that option.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: I'm head down, I'm building something for me and my family and and my legacy to come.
- 24:31SPEAKER_00: So like it's I'm all in this.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: I often say when uh I'm when Darren and I are doing something, if it's a challenge, like if I have to do something difficult, like if he's around, I will not work as hard.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, same.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Like, I just know that about me.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: I just know that.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: So like he's always like, we should do amazing race together.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, but it will like I I would have a hard time digging down into my inner depths because I knew you would be next to me, even though you were wouldn't be allowed to do the challenge if I was doing it.
- 25:06SPEAKER_01: But I know that you will do any of the like he would just I just know that.
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: I just know that I'll take a little bit.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: Whereas when I have to face something really tough and he's not around to help me, I I can I can MacGyver it.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: I can figure, you know what I mean?
- 25:21SPEAKER_01: I get I'm really quite scrappy, but yeah, I'm a little soft as well.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: I recommend it.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: I think about how, like, you know, before Jeff, he's always like, How did you survive before me?
- 25:32SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, Well, clearly I did.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: But you know, it's like I don't want to take, I don't take, I've never taken out the trash in the six years we've been together, or whatever it is.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: Like, there's just like you never cleaned a fridge, a stove.
- 25:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like there's just things I do not do.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Yet if I was on my own, I would figure out a way.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: Um, but when, and this is the and this just as proves myself, my point to myself of I if I had a default of this was an easier way to build my my business and my legacy, then I would probably default towards that.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: But I don't have that option, so I'm all in.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: So one of the things, one of the trends, one of the things I wanted to talk a little bit about before we run out of time is one of the transitions I've watched you make over the last year is how watching you.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: I say I so I told this to my friend in Victoria when we were there.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Uh explaining who you were, but I said, one of the most exciting things has been watching you fall in love with motherhood.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: It's crazy.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: I I'm like shocked myself.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: I this is why I love I love watching your Instagram, your personal Instagram stories around how like, especially when Cruz was firstborn, and one of the things I think you either said in our chat or wherever you were like, have you why is everybody holding out on me?
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: You guys, yeah, nobody told me this.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Like, tell us a little bit about that.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: That because you were certain at one point that you didn't want children.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: The first 35 years of my life, I was like, absolutely not.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: There's no way.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: The first year and a half, Jeff and I were together.
- 27:03SPEAKER_00: I was like, no, it's not a conversation.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: So if that's a deal breaker for you, like I got it, you can, you know, go date somebody else.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: But like, I've never wanted kids, I don't want them.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: So that's that's just how it is.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: And he never brought it up to me again, you know.
- 27:16SPEAKER_00: And um, but then a year and a half later, long story, I was in a meditation.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: It was crazy.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: I came out of the meditation, I was like, I need to have kids.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, this is crazy.
- 27:25SPEAKER_00: And then I couldn't unsee it and I couldn't unwant it.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: And I I I wanted after that, I was like, okay, I want to be a mom, but I still had really deep rooted fears a lot around actual childbirth.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: Would I survive?
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Yes, I remember that.
- 27:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Uh huh.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Like very, very, I was doing tapping and hypnosis and breath work and everything to be like, I will survive childbirth.
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be okay.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Um, and I don't even know where that fear came from.
- 27:51SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's a past generational passed down to me.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 27:54SPEAKER_00: Um, fear of what would it do to my business, fear of what would it do to my body, and fear of what would it do to my bank account, like all those fears business body, bank account and what I survive.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: And um, yeah, it was crazy.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: And then I thought it would just be easy for us to get pregnant.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: And it was a two-year journey from March of 2023 to March of 2025, every month with the ovulation strips and the testing and the negative tests.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: And you know, we were going to the fertility clinic and we did all the stuff with them, and they were like, You guys are good to go.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know, it just must be a timing thing.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: I think I was still so scared.
- 28:25SPEAKER_01: And I was like, my there was a holding back.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, there was a holding back for sure.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: And then I got pregnant in February of 2025, and I like it was a chemical pregnancy.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: I guess that's what people are calling it.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: I released, lost that pregnancy five days later.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: That loss of that pregnancy, because in those five days, Jeff and I planned out an entire other life.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: We were so excited.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: We were like, oh my God, we're gonna be parents.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: This is amazing.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: We test on Valentine's Day.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: It was just like, we were like, this is it.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: We were so happy.
- 28:57SPEAKER_00: And then five days later, I lost that baby.
- 29:00SPEAKER_00: And I that for me was all the confirmation I needed of, oh, I I absolutely want to be a mom.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Like, there's there's no fear anymore.
- 29:09SPEAKER_00: Like, I want this more than I want anything else.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: And then in March, the end of March, we got pregnant, like the next cycle.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: Um, and now we have crews.
- 29:17SPEAKER_00: And I did not know I was gonna love being a mom this much.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: I'm obsessed.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: The feeling is crazy.
- 29:22SPEAKER_00: If I wasn't 40 years old, if I was 30, I'd be having like a decade of them, just kid after kid after kid.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but I think what happened is leading up to having babies, a lot of people obviously talked about how hard it is, that toddlers suck, that you know, you're always tired.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: I was hearing all the hard stuff.
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: So I was like, I don't know, like what where where are the people talking about how much they love it?
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: And then once I had him, I was like, that's where I felt like you guys were all holding out on me.
- 29:51SPEAKER_00: Like, yes, I'm sure toddlerhood's gonna be terrifying.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: Um, but I the love that I have like just outweighs him so much.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: And like, I Jeff loves being a dad.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: And then so I love Jeff more because I love watching him being a dad and I love being a mom.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: And I just I cannot believe I love it this much.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: It's shocking to me.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: That's what I love.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: I love like that's I just think it's so endearing, and I love that it's actually been captured, you know, in a way like that.
- 30:21SPEAKER_01: You can look back at it when your kids are kid kids, however many are grown up, right?
- 30:25SPEAKER_01: You can watch your own transformation.
- 30:27SPEAKER_01: It's beautiful.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: So tell me where can people hang out with you?
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: Where can people find you and more about uh what you guys have coming out, the book, all that kind of stuff.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: Thanks for this conversation.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: So fun.
- 30:38SPEAKER_00: I could talk to you forever.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Um, we make everything super easy.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: It's all my line purpose.
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: So Instagram is my line purpose, our website is my linepurpose.com, our podcast is my line purposepodcast.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Um, on all of those places, you'll be able to find the book and our events that we host.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: For those of you listening, if you didn't know, oh yeah, she leads.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: She leads.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: Kim was our keynote last year, phenomenal, spectacular.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Um, and we're doing She Leads again 2027, April 16th and 17th here in Victoria.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: But all that information can be found at My Land Purpose.
- 31:09SPEAKER_00: And I am the one in our DM.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: So if you come over to Instagram and say, hey, I'm gonna send you voice note back and uh we can chat in there.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: And become besties.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Become besties, yeah.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: Thanks for sharing your journey with us today.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: I think a lot of people will take that for me, what sticks out the most is the transition from like what you think life should be to really understanding in your gut and getting in, you know, kudos to your sister for for being that kind of voice, being say, hey, you don't have it together.
- 31:41SPEAKER_01: What is it to take a break?
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: And your willingness to take a break.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: You don't have to be like, I'm just gonna throw it all away at first, right?
- 31:48SPEAKER_01: But just the opportunity that you took that break to give yourself the space to allow the magic to happen and look where you are today.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: So thank you for sharing all that journey.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Thanks, Kim.
