- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Malay with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. Hi everyone. Lucas: We are picking up right where we left off. Last time we talked about kitchen items like spoons and bowls. Luna: Yes, so much dishware. But today we move our attention outward. To our senses. Lucas: Exactly. We use our eyes and ears all day. Today we learn two key verbs: to look or see, and to hear or listen. Luna: This feels natural. After cooking, you usually look at the food and listen for the boil. Lucas: Good connection. Let us start with the first phrase. It is simple and very common. Luna: I am ready. What is the first one? Lucas: The phrase is: Saya lihat itu. Luna: Saya lihat itu. Lucas: Perfect. 'Saya' means I. 'Lihat' means look or see. 'Itu' means that. Luna: So it translates to: I see that. Lucas: Correct. When you point at something on a menu or a sign, you say this. Luna: Let me try it again slowly. Saya lihat itu. Lucas: Very good pronunciation. The 't' at the end is soft, like a gentle tap. Luna: Okay. Saya lihat itu. I see that. Lucas: Now let us practice the whole sentence together. Repeat after me. Luna: Saya lihat itu. Lucas: Again. Saya lihat itu. Luna: Saya lihat itu. Lucas: One more time. Make it confident. Saya lihat itu. Luna: Saya lihat itu. Lucas: Excellent. Now let us move to the second verb. Hearing. Luna: Hearing. This is important for conversations. Lucas: It is. The phrase is: Awak dengar apa? Luna: Awak dengar apa? Lucas: 'Awak' means you. 'Dengar' means hear or listen. 'Apa' means what. Luna: So it means: What do you hear? Lucas: Exactly. Or simply: What are you listening to? Luna: Let me try. Awak dengar apa? Lucas: Nice. Remember, 'apa' ends with a clear 'a' sound. Luna: Awak dengar apa? Lucas: Repeat after me. Awak dengar apa? Luna: Awak dengar apa? Lucas: Again. Awak dengar apa? Luna: Awak dengar apa? Lucas: One last time. Awak dengar apa? Luna: Awak dengar apa? Lucas: Great work. Now let us build a response. If someone asks you that, how do you answer? Luna: I would say: Saya dengar bunyi. Lucas: Yes. That is our third phrase. Saya dengar bunyi. Luna: Saya dengar bunyi. Lucas: 'Bunyi' means sound or noise. So it means: I hear a sound. Luna: I hear a sound. Lucas: Let us drill this. Repeat after me. Luna: Saya dengar bunyi. Lucas: Again. Saya dengar bunyi. Luna: Saya dengar bunyi. Lucas: Once more. Saya dengar bunyi. Luna: Saya dengar bunyi. Lucas: Perfect. Finally, let us add direction. Often we tell people where to look. Luna: Like pointing at a map or a street sign. Lucas: Right. The phrase is: Lihat ke sana. Luna: Lihat ke sana. Lucas: 'Ke' indicates movement toward. 'Sana' means there. So: Look over there. Luna: Look over there. Lucas: Let us practice this final phrase. Repeat after me. Luna: Lihat ke sana. Lucas: Again. Lihat ke sana. Luna: Lihat ke sana. Lucas: One more time. Lihat ke sana. Luna: Lihat ke sana. Lucas: You did wonderfully today. We covered four phrases. Luna: Let us review them quickly. Lucas: First: Saya lihat itu. I see that. Luna: Second: Awak dengar apa? What do you hear? Lucas: Third: Saya dengar bunyi. I hear a sound. Luna: Fourth: Lihat ke sana. Look over there. Lucas: Try using these when you walk around your neighborhood. Notice sights and sounds. Luna: It makes the world feel closer. Like you are part of the conversation. Lucas: That is the goal. Small steps lead to big progress. Luna: Before we go, I have a small request from our community. Lucas: Oh yes. The behind the scenes part. We want to be transparent about how this show exists. Luna: There are no ads on this podcast. It is just us teaching you. Lucas: A small group of listeners supports us monthly through buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Luna: That support covers the costs and keeps the learning free for everyone. Lucas: If you can, consider joining them. It helps us keep making these episodes. Luna: But only if you want to. No pressure at all. Lucas: Thank you for listening either way. Now, back to Malay. Luna: Let us say our four phrases one last time before we stop. Lucas: Saya lihat itu. Luna: Awak dengar apa? Lucas: Saya dengar bunyi. Luna: Lihat ke sana. Lucas: See you next time. Practice these until we chat again. Luna: Bye for now. See you soon.
