- 0:17Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Oh yeah, back on the radio, and I'm excited to
- 0:24Speaker 3: be in for Stue today. Thank you for the opportunity.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Let's get into it, Taylor, Mike Da You know I
- 0:30Speaker 3: listen to you guys all the time. Now that's the
- 0:32Speaker 3: show that I listened to. You know, since I no
- 0:35Speaker 3: longer do a radio show, this has become my show.
- 0:37Speaker 3: So it's weird to be here as opposed to driving
- 0:39Speaker 3: or listening on the free iHeart app. So very happy
- 0:42Speaker 3: to be You're gonna have a lot of fun today,
- 0:43Speaker 3: a lot of topics to get into, and I just
- 0:45Speaker 3: want to start right off to gate with the Dexter
- 0:47Speaker 3: Lauren stuff. You know, we were talking about this a
- 0:49Speaker 3: little bit last night, and it's not just about Dexter
- 0:52Speaker 3: Lawrence and the Giants. To me, think about it. In
- 0:55Speaker 3: any sport, I don't care what sport it is. Shouldn't
- 0:58Speaker 3: you be in the business of acquiring good players and
- 1:03Speaker 3: then developing those players, and then keeping those players. If
- 1:08Speaker 3: you put yourself in a position as an organization that
- 1:11Speaker 3: you have to trade those players because they're unhappy for
- 1:15Speaker 3: whatever reason, I think you have already failed. And a
- 1:18Speaker 3: big part of why John horrible everybody's talking about horriball
- 1:20Speaker 3: the greatest thing ever, the greatest coach. And I do
- 1:22Speaker 3: think it was a great hire. But a big part
- 1:24Speaker 3: of that should be because you figure, well, you know what,
- 1:26Speaker 3: dex Lawrence had a down year year ago. He's one
- 1:29Speaker 3: of the best tackles in the sport. You would think
- 1:32Speaker 3: John Horball coming in would maximize his potential, not be
- 1:36Speaker 3: in a position where, oh there's some turmoil, some problems
- 1:40Speaker 3: here with Dexter Lawrence and the Giants. I wouldn't be
- 1:42Speaker 3: in the business of giving them up. I don't care
- 1:44Speaker 3: what the cost is.
- 1:46Speaker 4: If you want to win this year, and that's what
- 1:47Speaker 4: Harball said, you want to win this year, you better
- 1:50Speaker 4: make sure you pay him because there's nobody in that draft,
- 1:53Speaker 4: especially this year's draft, that's going to replace what Dexter
- 1:56Speaker 4: Lawrence could do.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Sal correct me if I'm wrong, and I agree with
- 1:59Speaker 5: you one hundred percent, but weren't you one of the
- 2:01Speaker 5: guys that gave me flack for when I said the
- 2:04Speaker 5: same thing when the Jets traded away Quentin Williams and
- 2:08Speaker 5: Sauce Gardner, I.
- 2:09Speaker 6: Said, it's not about the return.
- 2:10Speaker 5: Yeah, they got all those picks, but when you have
- 2:13Speaker 5: guys that are supposed to be some of the best
- 2:15Speaker 5: at their position, you don't let those guys leave.
- 2:18Speaker 6: You try and get those guys right.
- 2:21Speaker 3: But Mike, yeah, you realize the big gass here, right,
- 2:24Speaker 3: the Jets.
- 2:25Speaker 6: The Jets did. The Jets stink.
- 2:28Speaker 3: The Jets did the right thing. Listen, I said, you
- 2:32Speaker 3: failed as an organization if you put yourself in a
- 2:34Speaker 3: spot where you have to get rid of those guys,
- 2:36Speaker 3: that's the spot that Jets wins. So I give the
- 2:38Speaker 3: Jets credit. And we've seen other teams have this issue before.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I mean, the Jets have been doing it forever, dating
- 2:43Speaker 3: back to Darrel Revis and the thought was, well, okay,
- 2:45Speaker 3: you trade Derel Reeves. Well now they're just going to
- 2:47Speaker 3: draft a corner. How'd that work out with Dean Milner?
- 2:49Speaker 3: So it's the same thing, you don't The Jets weren't
- 2:51Speaker 3: a different spot a year ago, which is why I
- 2:53Speaker 3: thought it was the right move because they had already
- 2:55Speaker 3: failed as an organization not being able to maximize what
- 2:59Speaker 3: Williams or Sauce Gardner can do. The Giants right now
- 3:01Speaker 3: with Harball should be able to maximize what Dexel Lawrence
- 3:04Speaker 3: can do.
- 3:05Speaker 7: Sal And it also feels like correct me if I'm wrong.
- 3:07Speaker 7: The Giants expectations are to compete in year one under Harball,
- 3:12Speaker 7: where the Jets really don't have those expectations, and it's
- 3:15Speaker 7: more about maximizing the capital that you can get for
- 3:18Speaker 7: some of those players in return.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Well, that's the point, right. The Jets are the spot
- 3:22Speaker 3: where they need to rebuild. Their timeline is not going
- 3:24Speaker 3: to be with Quinn Williams and Sauz Gardener winning. They
- 3:26Speaker 3: want to restock the form. And by the way, good
- 3:28Speaker 3: luck with that. All the draft picks that they got
- 3:30Speaker 3: this year's draft. Look at it. Look at the top
- 3:32Speaker 3: of the draft. It's like, Eh, I don't know, I
- 3:33Speaker 3: like this guy, and he's all right, yeah he could
- 3:36Speaker 3: be Okay. That's how they're going to rebuild their team.
- 3:38Speaker 3: And what the Giants is different because Harball comes in
- 3:41Speaker 3: and they want to win.
- 3:42Speaker 6: Now.
- 3:43Speaker 3: He said that we are going to make a priority
- 3:45Speaker 3: to win every game. I'm paraphrasing, I forget the exact quote.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Forgive me we want to win every single game. Well,
- 3:50Speaker 3: if that's the case, you don't trade a guy like
- 3:52Speaker 3: Dexel Lawrence. And think of it this way. Look around
- 3:55Speaker 3: the league. Pick any team in the league that is
- 3:57Speaker 3: serious about winning. If a player the caliber of Dexter
- 4:01Speaker 3: Lawrence becomes available, they're gonna be all in on a
- 4:04Speaker 3: player like that. That's how you know.
- 4:07Speaker 6: Is this another? Is another?
- 4:11Speaker 5: Is this another failed attempt by their GM Joe Shane
- 4:14Speaker 5: to sort of put his foot down with a star
- 4:16Speaker 5: player and said, you're not gonna dictate this to me.
- 4:19Speaker 6: Look what I did to Saquan.
- 4:21Speaker 3: The problem is that Joe Shane and the Giants, prior
- 4:24Speaker 3: to Horrball's arrival, put themselves in a bad spot as
- 4:27Speaker 3: a franchise letting go of Dexel Lawrence's best balls on
- 4:29Speaker 3: one want to win super Bowls afterward, and Lawrence is
- 4:31Speaker 3: sitting there saying last year was a down year. There's
- 4:33Speaker 3: no issues about it. But if you take I guarantee
- 4:36Speaker 3: you if he does truly become available, other teams that
- 4:40Speaker 3: know what they're doing are going to say, we want
- 4:43Speaker 3: this guy because he could change our front line. He
- 4:45Speaker 3: can change our entire defense. That's what winning football teams do.
- 4:49Speaker 3: They take advantage of the teams like like the Jets.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I'm sorry to say it, but that's what winning football
- 4:54Speaker 3: teams do. They go out there and get the good players.
- 4:55Speaker 3: And it happens in all sports. That's why I wanted
- 4:57Speaker 3: to start with this toy. It could be baseball too,
- 4:59Speaker 3: the same thing. Oh, this team can't pay this guy.
- 5:02Speaker 3: The Tigers aren't going to pay school Ball. Oh guess
- 5:04Speaker 3: what whose fault is that? That's your own fault. And
- 5:06Speaker 3: now the other teams, the rich teams are gonna feast
- 5:08Speaker 3: off of you. It's been going on forever in sports.
- 5:11Speaker 3: And if the New York Giants, big blue, big bad
- 5:14Speaker 3: New York Giants want to consider themselves a top high
- 5:16Speaker 3: end organization like they were in the past and like
- 5:19Speaker 3: they should be now with Harball, I don't think that
- 5:22Speaker 3: being in a position where you, for whatever reason, you
- 5:25Speaker 3: can't pay Dex Lawrence and you have to trade him,
- 5:27Speaker 3: that's a weak position. I wouldn't expect that to be
- 5:29Speaker 3: the case with Harball. You're never going to get the
- 5:32Speaker 3: proper return for a guy like that, certainly not in
- 5:35Speaker 3: this draft, and certainly not for a team that's talking
- 5:36Speaker 3: about winning now.
- 5:39Speaker 7: And if you've heard Harball talk about Lawrence's importance to
- 5:42Speaker 7: the Giants, it feels like a non story where Lawrence's
- 5:46Speaker 7: problems with the Giants don't have to do with the
- 5:48Speaker 7: coaching staff, it doesn't have to do with his role.
- 5:51Speaker 7: It just can you guys meet me at this dollar amount?
- 5:53Speaker 7: And then it kind of comes down to if Harball
- 5:56Speaker 7: wants Dexter Lawrence, the Giants are going to keep Dexter Lawrence.
- 6:00Speaker 3: I would think that this is a horriball decision, which
- 6:03Speaker 3: makes me feel comfortable about it, right, I have to
- 6:05Speaker 3: trust horriball. Now, if Harball says the biggest question to me,
- 6:09Speaker 3: wouldn't I want the player? I believe in the player.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But if Harbaugh doesn't and he thinks that dex Lawrence
- 6:15Speaker 3: isn't motivated, I'm choosing to look at it from he
- 6:18Speaker 3: just wants to get paid. He feels underpaid. And there's
- 6:21Speaker 3: no excuse for last year. I mean, he was out
- 6:22Speaker 3: of shape, he said all the wrong things. So that
- 6:25Speaker 3: could be a deterrent, right if it were Brian Dable
- 6:27Speaker 3: here or a rookie head coach. Then I'd be saying
- 6:29Speaker 3: maybe they should move on from dex Lawrence and you
- 6:32Speaker 3: trade him to a spot where a proven head coach,
- 6:34Speaker 3: Sean Payton, Andy Reid, Sean mcvagh, whatever, pick a proven
- 6:38Speaker 3: head coach that's going to make the most of what
- 6:40Speaker 3: he can bring. But being that you have horriball here,
- 6:42Speaker 3: one of the first thoughts that I had was instantly, okay, good,
- 6:44Speaker 3: Dexel Lawrence is now going to be fixed. If Harball
- 6:47Speaker 3: can't do it, who can. So the Giant should be
- 6:49Speaker 3: in a spot where they need to keep their player.
- 6:51Speaker 3: And the other thing is what would be the return
- 6:54Speaker 3: of if you're trading a player like dexe Lawrence. Magnitude?
- 6:57Speaker 3: Is the return? Really? Word that even if you believe,
- 7:00Speaker 3: let's say you believe that Dexel Lawrence isn't going to
- 7:02Speaker 3: be motivated and it's negative thing last year with him
- 7:05Speaker 3: being out of shape and saying the things that he said,
- 7:07Speaker 3: and he's not passionate about football. He just wants the money.
- 7:10Speaker 3: And you're on that side of it, you're gonna trade
- 7:12Speaker 3: him for what are you getting anywhere near the proper
- 7:16Speaker 3: value for him? Like for me, that caliber player that
- 7:19Speaker 3: type of game wrecker. He should be two ones and
- 7:21Speaker 3: they'd be lucky to get a one. I would think it.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Maybe it's gonna be a late one. So there's a
- 7:26Speaker 3: lot that goes into this when you talk about the
- 7:27Speaker 3: value of the player, the motivation of the player, the
- 7:31Speaker 3: history of the player. But isn't that a big part
- 7:34Speaker 3: This is not a rebuild. Isn't that a big part
- 7:36Speaker 3: of why Hardball was here? If you have a great
- 7:39Speaker 3: head coach like that, a super Bowl winning head coach
- 7:41Speaker 3: who's built a sustained, successful organization before, wouldn't you think
- 7:45Speaker 3: that the best thing to do use any sport period,
- 7:48Speaker 3: the best thing to do wouldn't that be to keep
- 7:51Speaker 3: the good player. Hard enough to find the good player.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And we know when you talk about New York football,
- 7:55Speaker 3: of course, but in general, hard enough to find the
- 7:57Speaker 3: good player. Will you identify one in the draft? Then
- 8:00Speaker 3: hard enough to develop him into a stud. Then he
- 8:02Speaker 3: becomes a stud, you can't move on from him. That's
- 8:05Speaker 3: a failure. Is an organ If the Giants have to
- 8:08Speaker 3: trade Dexter Lawrence, they have failed before Harball even coached
- 8:11Speaker 3: a game with the New York Giants.
- 8:16Speaker 7: Is it is it?
- 8:20Speaker 6: Are we doing too much.
- 8:22Speaker 3: You guys gotta tell me. Should should we learn to
- 8:23Speaker 3: know what we were talking about? What do you think
- 8:25Speaker 3: dex Lawrence diet is? Do you think you came you
- 8:29Speaker 3: came out of the gate so hot that we are
- 8:32Speaker 3: so not used to this.
- 8:35Speaker 5: I love it, I love it, but I'm out of
- 8:38Speaker 5: practice with Let me ask you this, is it a
- 8:41Speaker 5: question if Dexter Lawrence, who's only twenty eight years old,
- 8:44Speaker 5: if they say, you know what, go ahead and get
- 8:47Speaker 5: your trade, go and get your your big contract.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Is that John Harbaugh saying I don't think this is
- 8:52Speaker 6: the play. I don't think this player can be what
- 8:55Speaker 6: we saw.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Because if he can be what he saw, there is
- 8:58Speaker 5: no way in hell Harball allows that talent from that position,
- 9:03Speaker 5: because because he could do something that so few can do.
- 9:06Speaker 5: I saw a stat like he has one hundred and
- 9:08Speaker 5: seventy one pressures from the nose position and the next
- 9:11Speaker 5: highest was like twenty eight over over, like the course.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Of two seasons.
- 9:15Speaker 5: He could do something at an elite level that no
- 9:17Speaker 5: other guy can do. But if they let him go,
- 9:22Speaker 5: it's them saying we don't think you can do it
- 9:24Speaker 5: anymore in.
- 9:24Speaker 3: My opinion, right, And then it comes down to and
- 9:27Speaker 3: I do trust Harball. That's why I don't think they're
- 9:30Speaker 3: ultimately going to move him, because I trust Harbor to
- 9:33Speaker 3: make the right decision here. If he does move him,
- 9:35Speaker 3: that would mean that he not Joe Shane, not Donaponte,
- 9:38Speaker 3: whoever's run things with the Giants, not the financial people.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Harball said, for whatever reason, football based reason, he doesn't
- 9:46Speaker 3: believe that dex l Lawrence is gonna fit his program
- 9:49Speaker 3: or is worth the money that they would need to
- 9:50Speaker 3: pay him to keep him here. I don't believe that's
- 9:53Speaker 3: going to be the case. So I think there is
- 9:54Speaker 3: much ado about nothing. But the fact that you can
- 9:56Speaker 3: even get here just shows you how bad the Giants
- 9:58Speaker 3: organization has been. Why Dexter Lawrence is frustrated with what's
- 10:01Speaker 3: going on. Harball's got to clean it. I think that
- 10:04Speaker 3: he will, because if he doesn't, they're all going to
- 10:07Speaker 3: be teams lined up across the NFL. Pick a team
- 10:10Speaker 3: that needs a defensive player or needs to upgrade their
- 10:13Speaker 3: defense to get them over the hump, and there are
- 10:15Speaker 3: tons of them out there. The upper rational on team,
- 10:17Speaker 3: They're going to be trying to do anything they can
- 10:19Speaker 3: to go get dext Lawns maybe that drive the price up.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Who knows, but I would believe that a player like
- 10:23Speaker 3: that caliber, all the smart teams, the good teams are
- 10:26Speaker 3: going to go out there and try to take advantage
- 10:27Speaker 3: of the giants, miss Q.
- 10:29Speaker 5: The other interesting part of it is John Harbaugh is
- 10:31Speaker 5: not a defensive guy. He's not an offensive guy. He's
- 10:34Speaker 5: a he's a CEO guy, He's a he came from
- 10:37Speaker 5: special teams. So it's not that he wants to get
- 10:39Speaker 5: rid of Dexter Lawrence because he's not a scheme fit.
- 10:42Speaker 5: His scheme is these are the players I got, this
- 10:44Speaker 5: is the coaches I'm hiring, this is what we're going
- 10:46Speaker 5: to do.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Listen.
- 10:48Speaker 7: Let me be the first to say I love the
- 10:50Speaker 7: sports Talk. I was on the phone with a couple
- 10:52Speaker 7: of executives at Fox Sports Radio a couple of days ago.
- 10:55Speaker 7: We were talking about who should be the guest co host.
- 10:58Speaker 7: We were between Salakata and an AI version of Colin Coward.
- 11:03Speaker 7: And let me tell you, sal I think we chose right.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I'm still ufens even the ah, even the Ai Coward
- 11:11Speaker 3: has to be more expensive than I am. I don't
- 11:12Speaker 3: know what to do when you guys, I listened to
- 11:14Speaker 3: the show and you're talking about Dave Taylor your softball games.
- 11:16Speaker 3: I figure we get into that, but not out of
- 11:18Speaker 3: the gate. I mean, come on, I haven't done a
- 11:19Speaker 3: radio show since December. I need to talk some sports.
- 11:21Speaker 3: The podcast isn't cutting for me. These nice studios here
- 11:24Speaker 3: at iHeart. I mean, this is fun. I can hear
- 11:26Speaker 3: myself clear. I got the zooms going on.
- 11:28Speaker 6: This is great.
- 11:28Speaker 7: We got to talk some sports to start, so sal
- 11:31Speaker 7: I also have to admit too, I'm a bit distracted
- 11:34Speaker 7: because bordoup Ricardo. If there's day game baseball, bard up,
- 11:37Speaker 7: Bricardo's gonna have it on. And as a Yankee fan,
- 11:39Speaker 7: I'm watching the Yankees versus the Athletics. Right now, Yankees
- 11:43Speaker 7: are being no hit through six INNX. I'm getting a
- 11:45Speaker 7: little worried.
- 11:46Speaker 3: That is music to my ears? Wouldn't that? It's sweet
- 11:48Speaker 3: if they could get no hit here?
- 11:51Speaker 6: It's it's an a level pit like it's Paul Skeens
- 11:53Speaker 6: or something. No hitting them? Right? Who? Who's yeah? Right?
- 11:57Speaker 3: A guy that we never heard of before?
- 11:58Speaker 6: Who is it?
- 11:58Speaker 3: Do we even know his name? He's on the eight
- 12:00Speaker 3: that he can't be that relevant. It's somebody named Jeffrey Springs.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Jeffrey Springs. I mean, wouldn't that be fitting how they
- 12:07Speaker 3: get no hit? Is the guy walking pitching around Aaron Judge. Finally,
- 12:11Speaker 3: you know that's the other thing. I would do baseball
- 12:12Speaker 3: all day long, but doing a national show. I was
- 12:14Speaker 3: once told, if you're doing a national show, you can't
- 12:17Speaker 3: do baseball. And now things have changed in the year
- 12:19Speaker 3: since I was doing a national show. I get it,
- 12:21Speaker 3: but we gotta do some baseball. I figured we can't
- 12:23Speaker 3: start with the baseball. Although if the Yankees get no hit,
- 12:26Speaker 3: light up the phone lines eight seven to seven ninety
- 12:28Speaker 3: nine on focks, give us a call. We'll wait for
- 12:31Speaker 3: the tailor all day long. When his Yankees getting no
- 12:33Speaker 3: I mean, they're gonna come. You know what's gonna happen.
- 12:34Speaker 3: We've seen this play out a million times with the Yankees.
- 12:37Speaker 3: They get no hit for the first five innings. Great, okay,
- 12:39Speaker 3: the A's think they have him dead to rights, and
- 12:41Speaker 3: then the Yankees come back with a barrage in the
- 12:43Speaker 3: eighth inning. Trent Grisham gets on, Judge hits a two
- 12:46Speaker 3: run homer, and so on. We know how it's gonna
- 12:48Speaker 3: play out already. WAPs, How do you guys, because I
- 12:53Speaker 3: grew up hating the Yankees. I'm sorry now, Boonie's my guy.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I love him, but I grew up hating the Yankees.
- 12:59Speaker 3: The one thing around we get every great setup. I
- 13:01Speaker 3: don't have the TV on. I'm missing the Yankee game.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I didn't realize the Yankees are playing this afternoon. You
- 13:05Speaker 3: want to do the show? Sure, I can't wait. I
- 13:06Speaker 3: gotta get back in the radio. Oh, the Yankees. I
- 13:08Speaker 3: get a TV show at six. I'm in the city here,
- 13:10Speaker 3: I'm lonky. Don't get beat up by you know, the
- 13:12Speaker 3: people on the street trying to get here. I gotta
- 13:14Speaker 3: get downtown for a TV show at six. I can't
- 13:17Speaker 3: even watch the Yankees and mean while they're getting no hate.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Go figure. It seems like you need a board up
- 13:21Speaker 3: Ricardo in that studio. Yeah you do.
- 13:24Speaker 6: We all need a board up Ricardo.
- 13:26Speaker 3: You know. We all we need is Iowa was Sam
- 13:28Speaker 3: to make sure it doesn't screw up any sound today.
- 13:30Speaker 3: All right, we got Iowa Sam on the board, port
- 13:31Speaker 3: off Priccado. How many guys you got here? And producer Jason,
- 13:37Speaker 3: producer jac I know he's talking with everybody's getting emails
- 13:40Speaker 3: three not four, not five?
- 13:45Speaker 6: Right, right?
- 13:45Speaker 3: We don't do sports. Let's talk about everything but no
- 13:48Speaker 3: and and we'll get into the Basterds and some of
- 13:50Speaker 3: the baseball stuff in a little bit. I just feel
- 13:52Speaker 3: like the NFL, you can talk about anything when the NFL,
- 13:54Speaker 3: and I was listening a little bit to Colin Coward
- 13:56Speaker 3: this morning talking about the NFL. Think about how many
- 13:58Speaker 3: teams be salivating to get the player a caliber of
- 14:02Speaker 3: dex Lawrence, especially when you look at the draft. Now,
- 14:03Speaker 3: I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I'm some draft guru.
- 14:07Speaker 3: I'm not. I'll look at the draft and I'll look
- 14:08Speaker 3: at some of the right ups on some of the players,
- 14:10Speaker 3: and then they're like, Okay, I like this guy because
- 14:13Speaker 3: of so and so his motor or the way that
- 14:18Speaker 3: the way that he handles the interview, all those different things,
- 14:21Speaker 3: certain things about players that will jump out to me
- 14:24Speaker 3: outside of the measurables, which I don't get caught up on.
- 14:26Speaker 3: This draft is weak. There's no way you're going to
- 14:28Speaker 3: replace a player that's an all pro like Dexter Lawrence,
- 14:32Speaker 3: which to me makes it fascinating if the Giants, in
- 14:35Speaker 3: my opinion, do the wrong thing and can't can't come
- 14:38Speaker 3: to an agreement on him. I think other team's gonna
- 14:39Speaker 3: be looking at Pounce to go get Dexter Lawrence salvating Locata.
- 14:46Speaker 3: It's all that, that's his that's all you get.
- 14:49Speaker 6: He's had his hand up. He's had his hand up
- 14:51Speaker 6: for five minutes for that.
- 14:53Speaker 3: I have been salivating you, all right. I'm thinking the
- 14:57Speaker 3: whole night. Last night he stressed a little bit. A
- 14:59Speaker 3: matter of fac I'm feeling like a little I don't
- 15:00Speaker 3: know if it's stress, head ache, kawanum. I want to
- 15:02Speaker 3: make sure I come out of the gate hot. But
- 15:04Speaker 3: do I have fun with the guys? Do we hit
- 15:05Speaker 3: him with the sports right away? Normally my philosophy and
- 15:08Speaker 3: maybe I should throw that philosophy out the door because
- 15:10Speaker 3: we've seen how far that's got me before. Normally my
- 15:12Speaker 3: philosophy would be just come in hot, let's go sports talk, baby.
- 15:15Speaker 3: We'll have fun throughout the course of the two hours.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Two hours like a breeze. I used to do five
- 15:18Speaker 3: six hours on the overnight. Nobody's calling. I mean, in
- 15:21Speaker 3: two hours of breeze with you two guys, mikey A
- 15:23Speaker 3: and Taylor. We're having some funn here. But I figureed
- 15:25Speaker 3: I hit him with the sports. I think I knocked
- 15:27Speaker 3: you both guys out. I'm like, usually there's hands up
- 15:30Speaker 3: all over the place. You're both like, oh, what's happening here?
- 15:32Speaker 2: Sports talk?
- 15:33Speaker 3: I don't know what we're doing.
- 15:35Speaker 6: You came in, ready, go set.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I don't mess around? Are you kidding me? It might
- 15:40Speaker 3: be my last one. Treat every radio show like at
- 15:42Speaker 3: your last And that's what I've been doing for a
- 15:43Speaker 3: long time.
- 15:45Speaker 7: So on the topic of the no hitter that the
- 15:46Speaker 7: A's have right now, it felt like when a pitcher
- 15:50Speaker 7: has a no hitter, where me and Mikey A didn't
- 15:52Speaker 7: want to interact with you near the dugout. We just
- 15:54Speaker 7: want to let you go out do your thing. We
- 15:57Speaker 7: don't want to jinx you. You're talking Dexter Lawrence. You're
- 15:59Speaker 7: you're in this little groove, You're in this little rhythm.
- 16:02Speaker 3: We were just letting you go, baby, what's the what inning?
- 16:05Speaker 3: W in with the no hitter? And I appreciate that
- 16:07Speaker 3: because other people jump in and get in my way.
- 16:09Speaker 3: But I figure with you guys, and now I don't
- 16:10Speaker 3: jump in and help out. Let's go whatitting way up.
- 16:13Speaker 6: With this game.
- 16:14Speaker 7: We're in the seventh inning, one out in the seventh inning.
- 16:16Speaker 7: Big g up, It's getting real.
- 16:20Speaker 3: It is getting real. Make sure you stay tuned live
- 16:24Speaker 3: no hit watch right here live on Fox Sports Radio.
- 16:27Speaker 3: We see the Yankees go down. As a matter of fact,
- 16:30Speaker 3: I don't even want that, Like I'm joking around and
- 16:32Speaker 3: it would be fun to make fun of you guys
- 16:34Speaker 3: and are the Yankee fans. But I actually do this
- 16:35Speaker 3: baseball pool throughout the course of the year where you
- 16:38Speaker 3: pick a team for a week and they have to win. Like,
- 16:42Speaker 3: if they play seven games for that week, you have
- 16:44Speaker 3: to go four and three. If they only play six,
- 16:46Speaker 3: you have to go minimum three and three. It's like
- 16:47Speaker 3: a survivor and you get three strikes. And the buddy,
- 16:50Speaker 3: the guy that I'm doing the pool with, my buddy,
- 16:51Speaker 3: he picked the Yankees this week. And of course the
- 16:54Speaker 3: Yankees are one and one so far versus the A's
- 16:56Speaker 3: and if they get no hit today, that's no good.
- 16:57Speaker 3: One and two. That man, They do play a Tampa which,
- 17:00Speaker 3: by the way, house of horrors for the Yankees in
- 17:02Speaker 3: Tampa Bay. So maybe this will be the week. Fig
- 17:04Speaker 3: go figure the week I take the Yankees, They're gonna
- 17:06Speaker 3: one hundred and five games. The one week I take
- 17:07Speaker 3: the Yankees. They're gonna get no hit. I mean, that's
- 17:09Speaker 3: how these pools usually work. Somebody get a hit. What
- 17:11Speaker 3: am I talking about rooting against the Yankees. I want
- 17:13Speaker 3: that ball. I want to win that pool. I can
- 17:15Speaker 3: use the money. You guys big in there. I know.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Tell you're a big into baseball, Mike Yea, where are
- 17:18Speaker 3: you at with the baseball? I'm not familiar.
- 17:20Speaker 6: I'm a big I'm a big Yankee fan, a big,
- 17:22Speaker 6: bigger Yankee fan.
- 17:23Speaker 3: It's a big Yankee fan. Taylor, Yeah, I watch all
- 17:27Speaker 3: one sixty two. Oh, you're a one sixty twur. Mike.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Ye's a come and go as you please man.
- 17:34Speaker 5: He at least eighty ninety eighty to ninety. You know,
- 17:38Speaker 5: if it's on, I'm not staying up. I'm not staying
- 17:41Speaker 5: I'm not staying up.
- 17:42Speaker 6: For for any West Coast games.
- 17:44Speaker 3: And the West Coast games they bond you as a fan.
- 17:47Speaker 3: You bond with the West Coast games. Everybody's asleep. You
- 17:49Speaker 3: gotta stay up and watch those games late night. So Sally,
- 17:52Speaker 3: you'll respect this move of me and you. This is
- 17:54Speaker 3: the move that you could tell that I don't have kids,
- 17:57Speaker 3: or a family or much responsibilities we do the show
- 18:00Speaker 3: from three to five. When the Yankees have the ten
- 18:01Speaker 3: o'clock game, I get home around five point thirty after traffic,
- 18:05Speaker 3: take a nap until that game starts.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Oh look at you.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Live in the life, you know. That's another reason why
- 18:10Speaker 3: I like listening to the show. I live vicariously through you.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Because you have a softball team, You're just moving in
- 18:16Speaker 3: with your girlfriend. You could take naps so you could
- 18:18Speaker 3: get ready to watch the games. And I'm like, yesterday,
- 18:21Speaker 3: I'm taking my daughter to chuck e cheese, Like my
- 18:24Speaker 3: life is over. People are asking me, are you one
- 18:25Speaker 3: of the Masters. I'm like I used to be, Well,
- 18:27Speaker 3: what happened well, and not just Tiger and Phil, but
- 18:29Speaker 3: like I got married. That's what happened. Instead of sitting
- 18:32Speaker 3: there on Thursday, Friday, certainly Saturday or Sunday watching the
- 18:35Speaker 3: Masters like I used to do, or college basketball, the
- 18:37Speaker 3: NCAA tournament, filling on a bracket, I got married. That's
- 18:40Speaker 3: the problem. During the week I could say, well, I
- 18:42Speaker 3: gotta watch the Mets and Yankees. I gotta watch a
- 18:44Speaker 3: lot of sports on the weekend. It's like, Okay, what
- 18:46Speaker 3: are you gonna do for us? Now? That's that's the problem.
- 18:48Speaker 3: So if you want to be a sports fan, be
- 18:51Speaker 3: weary of where you're gonna go with your future, even
- 18:53Speaker 3: if you're just dating.
- 18:54Speaker 7: Right now, we have a massive update, John Carlos, stay
- 18:58Speaker 7: and walk, Ben Rice go.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Okay, So there, oh hit r over. Well that ended,
- 19:04Speaker 3: Now you go to break.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Gotson Company
- 19:08Speaker 2: Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific on
- 19:13Speaker 2: Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I've been talking too much sports on this show. Apparently
- 19:19Speaker 3: Taylor and Mike Ye were just getting on me for
- 19:21Speaker 3: that during one of the breaks. So tell me about this.
- 19:23Speaker 3: What's this Do Me a Favor? Taylor? What does you
- 19:25Speaker 3: have on the rundown here? So?
- 19:27Speaker 7: Do Me a Favor is a staple for Stu gottson
- 19:30Speaker 7: Company Live where we go around and we say do
- 19:33Speaker 7: me a favor and you just call out somebody in
- 19:36Speaker 7: the sports world. So I was Sam give us the
- 19:38Speaker 7: do Me a Favor music like it so I could
- 19:43Speaker 7: start sell so you could kind of get an idea.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Do me a favor.
- 19:49Speaker 7: Mets owner Steve Cohen stay off Twitter. The Mets move
- 19:52Speaker 7: their start time up because of how cold it is
- 19:54Speaker 7: in New York, and because of that, they offered a
- 19:57Speaker 7: limited number of free tickets to the game. After the game,
- 20:00Speaker 7: Steve Cohen tweets out the free ticket giveaway was fully
- 20:03Speaker 7: subscribed within hours yesterday. Guess the percentage of no shows
- 20:07Speaker 7: from the ticket offer fifty eight percent? What was the
- 20:10Speaker 7: point of calling out the fan base like that?
- 20:14Speaker 3: I mean, he's not wrong, he's given free tickets. He's
- 20:19Speaker 3: trying to tell you know why, you try to do
- 20:20Speaker 3: something nice for people, and here we are, I'm doing
- 20:23Speaker 3: something nice, giving you free tickets. You'll claim it. You
- 20:25Speaker 3: don't even show up. What's going on here? He did
- 20:28Speaker 3: do met fans a favor giving him free tickets, and
- 20:30Speaker 3: now you're ripping him because he gave him free tickets
- 20:32Speaker 3: and complained about it. Wouldn't you if I had people
- 20:35Speaker 3: over my house or say hey, you go eat up
- 20:36Speaker 3: and they're like yeah, no, I'm good, Or you buy
- 20:38Speaker 3: food for people that are supposed to come to your
- 20:40Speaker 3: house and then they don't show up. What are you
- 20:41Speaker 3: supposed to say? You wouldn't go to social media or
- 20:43Speaker 3: call somebody at least and complain about it. I feel
- 20:45Speaker 3: like I might in that spot. Who's next up? With
- 20:48Speaker 3: to do me a favor.
- 20:50Speaker 6: I'll go do me a favor. TV streaming executives, all
- 20:56Speaker 6: this stuff.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Come up with an original idea, okay, because I am
- 21:00Speaker 5: sick of everything being.
- 21:03Speaker 6: Another version of something else.
- 21:05Speaker 5: You've got seventeen NCISS, You've got seventeen Chicago Chicago Fire
- 21:10Speaker 5: and all like. Come up with one original idea, one
- 21:14Speaker 5: original show that we could watch and we don't have
- 21:16Speaker 5: to deal with having to understand fourteen other shows to
- 21:21Speaker 5: watch this show.
- 21:23Speaker 3: All right, there you have it. I mean, I'm currently
- 21:25Speaker 3: looking for employment, so I am not going to rip
- 21:27Speaker 3: any TV executives anywhere for anything. Extreame what you want,
- 21:29Speaker 3: Promote what you want.
- 21:30Speaker 2: I'll moll for it.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Email me, Sally, he look at it, you bord Off Bercarado,
- 21:36Speaker 3: You're on next.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 8: Major League Baseball, do me a favor. Enough with the
- 21:40Speaker 8: constant interleague games. I don't mind a small section of
- 21:44Speaker 8: the season like we had in the early two thousands,
- 21:46Speaker 8: but just not every day. I like the league separated,
- 21:49Speaker 8: and it gives us more division games and it makes
- 21:51Speaker 8: inter league more special.
- 21:53Speaker 6: But every day? Enough with it?
- 21:55Speaker 3: All right? Fair enough? I hate anybody else? Go here?
- 21:58Speaker 3: Who I was? Sam? Does he ever do me a favor.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I could go left them there you go, I would say,
- 22:02Speaker 3: im hop in there, give us to do me a favor,
- 22:04Speaker 3: Do me a favor.
- 22:06Speaker 9: Other sports franchises match the wonderful prices at the Masters,
- 22:10Speaker 9: because I could get everything on the menu for under
- 22:13Speaker 9: eighty dollars. I think I'd go with a beer eight Masters,
- 22:18Speaker 9: a club sandwich, some apple slices and some chips, and
- 22:20Speaker 9: that'll run me twelve dollars. Let's go back to the
- 22:23Speaker 9: days of pre pandemic prices and just maybe slice your
- 22:27Speaker 9: profits off a little bit and just cut us all
- 22:29Speaker 9: a break because everything's too expensive right now.
- 22:31Speaker 3: But the problem is they could do that because they
- 22:33Speaker 3: don't care if you go like they know, what's a
- 22:35Speaker 3: limited audience now, how they're stadium.
- 22:37Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying, it's all the math game.
- 22:39Speaker 9: They're all working us. But at least the perception of
- 22:42Speaker 9: something coming off cheap. Like if I go over to
- 22:44Speaker 9: Whole Foods when we got across the street here at
- 22:46Speaker 9: Sherman Oaks at the studio, some of their food is
- 22:49Speaker 9: like the day it's the day of sell by date
- 22:52Speaker 9: and they mark it down fifty percent, and I'm like,
- 22:54Speaker 9: I can get this sandwich for four to fifty in
- 22:56Speaker 9: stead of nine dollars. This feels like twenty eighteen again.
- 22:59Speaker 9: It's like the good days. So let's go back to that.
- 23:01Speaker 9: At least I feel like I'm saving something. But you know, Masters,
- 23:04Speaker 9: Atlanta Falcons do that. Other franchises, some go real cheap
- 23:07Speaker 9: with their concessions.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I love it.
- 23:09Speaker 9: It makes people feel like it's more accessible. So Master's
- 23:13Speaker 9: concessions prices, do me a favor. I want other people
- 23:16Speaker 9: to match that apple slices. What are your sal's five
- 23:19Speaker 9: year old daughter? I gotta get listen, beer, turkey, sandwich chips.
- 23:22Speaker 9: I gotta get something healthy in there.
- 23:24Speaker 3: She does love the apple slices, good yard apples.
- 23:27Speaker 9: Yeah, that was some hardsider.
- 23:29Speaker 3: M McDonald's little chicken nuggets, French fries and the apple slice.
- 23:31Speaker 3: You can't go healthier, all right, do me a favor.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Let's stop with the damn video tributes to former players.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Do me fair enough. Jeff McNeil's gonna return to City
- 23:43Speaker 3: Field like as if he's some conquering hero with the Mets.
- 23:47Speaker 3: He's a scrub. I'm sorry. I know he beat up
- 23:49Speaker 3: the Yankees here in this series, and I know we had. Okay,
- 23:51Speaker 3: he was an old star one. Jeff McNeill wasn't very
- 23:53Speaker 3: good scrubs, maybe disrespectfull. You get the point. I want
- 23:56Speaker 3: to exaggerate for a fact. Just do me a favor.
- 23:58Speaker 3: If you get to acknowledgejeffmcgil means we gotta now to everybody,
- 24:01Speaker 3: Pete A. Lonzo would be one thing, the all time
- 24:03Speaker 3: franchise leading home run hitter. You talk about former grades
- 24:06Speaker 3: that move on because at the end of their career,
- 24:07Speaker 3: whatever it may be, pick a team, pickup player, pick
- 24:10Speaker 3: a sport. But enough with these video tributes because it's
- 24:13Speaker 3: just now teams feel obligated to do it. So do
- 24:16Speaker 3: me a favor. Got it out all right? How'd that work?
- 24:19Speaker 3: Was that? Okay? But that was a great to me
- 24:22Speaker 3: a favorite?
- 24:22Speaker 6: That was awesome.
- 24:24Speaker 3: That was awesome. You wait any more games to play?
- 24:26Speaker 3: Actually this is not a game, but this is something
- 24:28Speaker 3: I was thinking about. I'm getting to hang out with
- 24:30Speaker 3: you guys here today. Like because as a listener of
- 24:33Speaker 3: the show, right becoming a fan of the show, you know,
- 24:35Speaker 3: working with you guys in the podcast, there are certain
- 24:37Speaker 3: things that I feel like, like I used to feel
- 24:39Speaker 3: this way about Mike and the mandic. Oh, I just
- 24:41Speaker 3: not I want to be on the air. I want
- 24:42Speaker 3: to just be a part of that family and hang
- 24:44Speaker 3: out with those guys. And I was thinking about it,
- 24:46Speaker 3: like with with Stu. For me, maybe the thing would
- 24:49Speaker 3: be to play golf with him, right, even though I'm
- 24:50Speaker 3: not a big golfer, would that be the thing? I mean,
- 24:53Speaker 3: it's either play golf with him or get high with him.
- 24:55Speaker 3: And I've never gotten high with anybody, but maybe it
- 24:57Speaker 3: would be with Stue. Are those the two things? Maybe
- 24:59Speaker 3: that wou like, what would you want to do with
- 25:01Speaker 3: Stue if you could do anything to experience being part
- 25:03Speaker 3: of these Stu Gots and Company family.
- 25:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:06Speaker 7: So I've played golf with him a couple of times.
- 25:08Speaker 7: One of the things you have to kind of prepare
- 25:10Speaker 7: yourself for some of the slowest rounds you'll ever play
- 25:14Speaker 7: in your life. Like, not only is he slow, just
- 25:17Speaker 7: kind of like waddling up to the ball. He stands
- 25:20Speaker 7: over the ball for like three minutes, and I'm like, Stu,
- 25:22Speaker 7: come on, if you're gonna if you're if you're gonna play,
- 25:26Speaker 7: play fount and then he hits then and then all
- 25:29Speaker 7: you hear about is how much golf he plays and
- 25:32Speaker 7: then you're out there and he's just he's just hacking
- 25:35Speaker 7: it out. He's in the woods. And then you finish
- 25:37Speaker 7: the hole and you're like, Stu, what'd you get there?
- 25:39Speaker 7: And He's like, just put me down for a par
- 25:41Speaker 7: I'm like, wait, what.
- 25:44Speaker 6: All right?
- 25:45Speaker 3: So on second thought, maybe I want to pop a
- 25:46Speaker 3: gummy with Stue instead of that with Taylor. I feel
- 25:49Speaker 3: like I want to play softball, Like that's the thing.
- 25:51Speaker 3: I'm like, Wow, I wonder if I go down there
- 25:53Speaker 3: one day, if I happen to be in Miami and
- 25:55Speaker 3: hang out, maybe I could be like a walk on
- 25:56Speaker 3: for a softball team. I feel like that's the thing
- 25:58Speaker 3: I want to experience now from a listener standpoint, you
- 26:01Speaker 3: talk about it. You know, if Ian could do it,
- 26:03Speaker 3: how bad could things be. I'm sure I could go
- 26:05Speaker 3: down there. Is that something that's possible? Maybe to play
- 26:07Speaker 3: some softball with you? Taylor definitely could do softball.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Sow.
- 26:11Speaker 7: My dream for you would be me and you. We
- 26:14Speaker 7: just have a catch like field of dreams. Just a
- 26:16Speaker 7: kid in just a kid and his dad, but just
- 26:19Speaker 7: a kid and somebody he used to listen.
- 26:21Speaker 3: To on w f A N. I mean, we can
- 26:24Speaker 3: make that happen. We could have a catch and then
- 26:26Speaker 3: maybe go play softball. Mikey, I was thinking about it
- 26:29Speaker 3: with you, like I feel like with you, I just
- 26:30Speaker 3: want to hang out and pound some beers and a pie. Right, Uh?
- 26:36Speaker 5: Yeah, you want to you want to eat pizza and
- 26:38Speaker 5: watch football with me if you want, If you want
- 26:40Speaker 5: to get the full experience, that's what you want to do.
- 26:43Speaker 6: I do that.
- 26:44Speaker 3: We can do that, hopefully you can.
- 26:45Speaker 6: Here.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Here's the thing I get. Invite you over to my
- 26:46Speaker 3: place in New Jersey. You could bring the good pizza
- 26:48Speaker 3: from Connecticut. We watch some football. I mean, Taylor's inbody
- 26:51Speaker 3: it as well. But that's what I feel like I want.
- 26:52Speaker 10: Now.
- 26:53Speaker 3: The other thing is with Izzy. I don't know, Like
- 26:55Speaker 3: do I want to work out with is He? I
- 26:57Speaker 3: don't like, what do you want to do? I want
- 26:58Speaker 3: to go to a game with is He? What's the
- 27:01Speaker 3: thing with we don't want to play? He doesn't want
- 27:03Speaker 3: to play softball. I know he loves the heat. I
- 27:06Speaker 3: know he's in shape. I'm trying to think of things
- 27:08Speaker 3: that what do we want to do with Isazy? What
- 27:09Speaker 3: would be the dream there?
- 27:11Speaker 7: I think it would be you have to play flag
- 27:12Speaker 7: football and I'm telling you football. I'm telling you right now,
- 27:16Speaker 7: Sal I consider myself a great athlete. My quads were
- 27:19Speaker 7: not ready for flag football.
- 27:21Speaker 3: But you're a football player. You played football in North Carolina.
- 27:25Speaker 3: That's your whole thing, that's what you do. You're not
- 27:29Speaker 3: a softball player. You're not, in fact Andrew Jones. You're
- 27:31Speaker 3: a football player that you weren't ready for.
- 27:34Speaker 7: I'm a retired I'm a current athlete. I'm a retired
- 27:38Speaker 7: football player. And so the entire drive over, I was like, man,
- 27:41Speaker 7: should I just text Izzy that? Like my stomach kind
- 27:43Speaker 7: of hurts and and kind of fail out of this
- 27:45Speaker 7: because I know going in there as a former North
- 27:49Speaker 7: Carolina wide receiver that people are going to be looking
- 27:52Speaker 7: at me and be like, hey, we have to get
- 27:53Speaker 7: this kid the ball, you know, twenty times a game.
- 27:56Speaker 7: He's got to be our version of Poka Nakua. And
- 27:58Speaker 7: I'm a lot closer to whoever's backing up Pooka Nakuah
- 28:02Speaker 7: than I am Pooka Nakulah.
- 28:03Speaker 3: I'd love to get to know, Isy. I am not
- 28:05Speaker 3: playing flag football under any circumstances. I would be an
- 28:08Speaker 3: injury waiting to happen.
- 28:10Speaker 5: What about us for you, sal if we wanted to
- 28:13Speaker 5: be part of you in your world, if you what
- 28:15Speaker 5: would we join you to do?
- 28:17Speaker 6: Would it be? Would it be go sit next to
- 28:18Speaker 6: Jerry Seinfeld? And wow?
- 28:21Speaker 3: But that's not me. Is maybe maybe hang out at
- 28:25Speaker 3: a game like in the Islanders owner suite or something.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I mean, maybe something like that. I don't know. I
- 28:29Speaker 3: don't really have any do a radio show with me.
- 28:31Speaker 3: It's all I know how to do. I can't do
- 28:32Speaker 3: anything else.
- 28:34Speaker 7: So I'm actually I live in Fort Lauderdale, South but
- 28:38Speaker 7: I'm coming back home to New York for I think
- 28:40Speaker 7: a week and maybe a week and a half. In
- 28:43Speaker 7: the middle of April. I have a wedding and that
- 28:45Speaker 7: I have my sister's baby shower. And I'm looking at
- 28:48Speaker 7: the Yankee schedule. Fun I'm looking at the Yankee schedule
- 28:52Speaker 7: and it's during a homestand it looks like the Royal
- 28:55Speaker 7: series the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth in April. And you've
- 29:00Speaker 7: mentioned that if I come to a Yankee game with you,
- 29:02Speaker 7: you'll connect me with Aaron Boone. So I think I'm
- 29:05Speaker 7: reaching into my pocket and I'm pulling out this favor.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Oh dude, you gotta give me a heads up April
- 29:12Speaker 3: and Anthelic next week. For goodness sake, I watch next week, Yeah,
- 29:15Speaker 3: next wed next week. You don't even want to know
- 29:18Speaker 3: what I have planned for next weekend. My daughter's birthday
- 29:20Speaker 3: is on the sixteenth. I told you the eighteenth. We
- 29:22Speaker 3: promised her we're gonna go to Pepa Pig's house. It's
- 29:24Speaker 3: in It's of course, there's not one in New York,
- 29:26Speaker 3: because why would there be a Peppa Pigs house in
- 29:29Speaker 3: New York. It's in Virginia or something. So we have
- 29:31Speaker 3: that schedule for the eighteenth, but either that Friday or
- 29:34Speaker 3: the Sunday, maybe we could work on that. We'll go
- 29:36Speaker 3: hang out of the Yankee game and see if Pooni's available.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Steve Godsend Company
- 29:42Speaker 2: Live weekdays at three pm Eastern twelve pm Pacific.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Now, how did the Yankees lose to the A's two
- 29:51Speaker 3: out of three to the A's to start? I mean,
- 29:54Speaker 3: come on, and Yankees have been in the hottest team
- 29:57Speaker 3: in baseball, right, They had the best record. They were
- 29:58Speaker 3: eight and two coming into last night's game, where they
- 30:01Speaker 3: then got beat by the A's, and then this afternoon,
- 30:04Speaker 3: I wasn't trying to jinx it. I just thought, matter
- 30:06Speaker 3: of factly they're at home, they'll come back against the
- 30:08Speaker 3: A's once they get to that bullpen, and the Yankees
- 30:10Speaker 3: go down one zip. Man, Now I still look, I'm
- 30:14Speaker 3: not gonna go nuts about it, but it does show
- 30:15Speaker 3: you that even with the Yankees high octane, powerful offense
- 30:19Speaker 3: and that loaded rotation, Weathers was terrific today, gave them
- 30:22Speaker 3: actually some length which they needed eight innings. It is
- 30:25Speaker 3: getting beat by the A's two out of three. That
- 30:27Speaker 3: can't make you Yankee fans feel good. Mikey A. Taylor. No,
- 30:30Speaker 3: I mean you guys, get the A's came into your
- 30:32Speaker 3: house and took two out of three, and then you
- 30:33Speaker 3: gotta go to the House of Horrors, Tampa Bay back
- 30:36Speaker 3: up and running in the at the trop I'm assuming
- 30:38Speaker 3: they still call it that, and maybe the Yankees sitting
- 30:40Speaker 3: a little bit of a bump on the road here.
- 30:43Speaker 5: I blame you, so I blame you for betting on them,
- 30:46Speaker 5: for for taking them in your pool that they're gonna
- 30:49Speaker 5: win what four of seven or three of seven or whatever.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Three they get the EU doingthing you.
- 30:56Speaker 6: Can to jinx them, and you're doing well.
- 30:58Speaker 3: The Al East is over. Maybe as soon as they
- 31:01Speaker 3: said that, the Eggies getting no hit, you know.
- 31:03Speaker 6: What, they only had to do with the ZL West
- 31:05Speaker 6: apparently two.
- 31:06Speaker 3: Out of three. You know. One thing on the Yankees
- 31:09Speaker 3: and their fans, I think it's been a rough. Look.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Have you guys heard the chance the Soto thing whatever,
- 31:13Speaker 3: Like they're still bothered by Soto, but he's not in
- 31:16Speaker 3: the ballpark. You mentioned the AL West, it's still with
- 31:18Speaker 3: Al Tuvey. Like if the Astros were here, so be it.
- 31:22Speaker 3: If the Mets were in town, so be it. What's
- 31:24Speaker 3: what the channing bleep this player when they're not even there,
- 31:30Speaker 3: what's going on? Maybe that's what caused the problem here.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Maybe the Yankee fans taking their attention away from focusing
- 31:35Speaker 3: on their team, trying to get them to play their
- 31:37Speaker 3: best channing bleep this guy, bleep that guy. Maybe that's
- 31:39Speaker 3: what calls them to lose two out of three to
- 31:41Speaker 3: lowly Oakland.
- 31:41Speaker 7: A's I respect that level of hate, especially in a
- 31:45Speaker 7: city like New York where hate is such so prevalent
- 31:48Speaker 7: in their sports teams like Sally.
- 31:50Speaker 3: You go to a Rangers game, they're still doing the
- 31:52Speaker 3: pop bands. Sucks. Good point, and I love that, and
- 31:55Speaker 3: I take fid and doing the pop vand sucks.
- 31:57Speaker 6: I respect it.
- 31:58Speaker 3: You got me with Alan, Yeah there, I can't combat
- 32:02Speaker 3: that one. Yeah, but that's like, come on, that's like
- 32:05Speaker 3: tradition and it's not. I mean, you know, it's at
- 32:08Speaker 3: least a clean word like pop vinsucks. But I took
- 32:10Speaker 3: my daughter and I'm like, oh, you know that's the
- 32:12Speaker 3: or my nephew when he's starting to learn hockey, I
- 32:14Speaker 3: teach them that pop vinsuck has just been a thing
- 32:16Speaker 3: as far as I know going on Ranger games.
- 32:18Speaker 7: But doesn't all good traditions have to have a ground
- 32:21Speaker 7: floor to start on, Like maybe in fifteen years, the
- 32:24Speaker 7: Soto sucks is what the Bronx is known for instead
- 32:27Speaker 7: of the bleacher creatures. And don't get me started on
- 32:30Speaker 7: the bleacher creatures. I can't stand that guy who leads them.
- 32:33Speaker 3: We may have found a common ground here, Taylor. I'm
- 32:35Speaker 3: I think it's the lamest thing in sports. And this
- 32:38Speaker 3: has nothing to do with not being a Yankee fan.
- 32:41Speaker 3: It is the roll call is the lamest thing, maybe
- 32:45Speaker 3: in the history of sports. I don't want to exaggerate,
- 32:48Speaker 3: but maybe in the history of sports it is the
- 32:50Speaker 3: lamest that you.
- 32:51Speaker 5: Like that Mike Ye, come on, man, I love First off,
- 32:55Speaker 5: when you say bleacher creatures, we're dealing with like the
- 32:58Speaker 5: water down like version of the bleacher creatures. When you
- 33:02Speaker 5: talk about the old bleacher creatures that ended the role
- 33:07Speaker 5: call with box seats suck. That was the bleacher creatures.
- 33:11Speaker 5: They don't even do that anymore. It's you can now
- 33:14Speaker 5: go from the bleachers to the rest of the park.
- 33:16Speaker 5: They used to separate the bleacher, the bleacher creatures, from
- 33:19Speaker 5: the rest of you, Like, if you had a bleacher ticket,
- 33:22Speaker 5: you couldn't go see.
- 33:23Speaker 6: What it looked like behind Home Plitt you were stuck
- 33:25Speaker 6: in the bleachers. Now it's different. But I love the
- 33:28Speaker 6: role call. My kid loves the role call. It's one
- 33:30Speaker 6: of the better parts of the game to me.
- 33:32Speaker 7: So my most shameful admission is that when I go
- 33:35Speaker 7: to Yankee games and I love the Yankees, grew up
- 33:37Speaker 7: thirty two years old. Yankees are my number one favorite
- 33:40Speaker 7: team in all of sports. But my most shameful admission
- 33:43Speaker 7: is that when I'm at Yankee games and I'm sitting around,
- 33:45Speaker 7: I'm looking at a lot of Yankee fans, I'm going
- 33:47Speaker 7: I kind of hate everybody here.
- 33:51Speaker 3: You know, that's an interesting point because even listening. You
- 33:55Speaker 3: do profile as anti Yankee, you kind of do, but
- 33:59Speaker 3: then you a Yankee fan and that's your people. I mean,
- 34:03Speaker 3: come on, you can't be hating everybody in the stadium,
- 34:05Speaker 3: the oh Neil Chance. I mean, we don't to get
- 34:08Speaker 3: at this specific of the chance hip hip hoor hey.
- 34:10Speaker 3: I mean, what are we doing here? The yes, the
- 34:13Speaker 3: Yankees won't evolve to the point where they could wear
- 34:16Speaker 3: a modern day jersey like a third you know, a
- 34:18Speaker 3: City connect Jersey. Yankees won't do that, But yet their
- 34:21Speaker 3: fans come up with the cot Night Joe stuff. You
- 34:23Speaker 3: got the judges Chambers, you got the roll call, the
- 34:27Speaker 3: hip hip hoor hey Chance. I mean, come on, that
- 34:29Speaker 3: stuff is corny. The Yankee should be above that.
- 34:33Speaker 6: But Salad, you can't look. You can't tell me.
- 34:35Speaker 5: You go to City Field and you look around at
- 34:37Speaker 5: met fans and you go, these are my people, every
- 34:39Speaker 5: single one of these people.
- 34:41Speaker 6: This is who I am. You can't tell me. That's
- 34:43Speaker 6: the that's the truth.
- 34:44Speaker 3: No, no, you got me. It's why I don't go
- 34:46Speaker 3: to City Field that month, not often anymore.
- 34:49Speaker 6: It used to be me.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Not me anymore.
- 34:52Speaker 7: And most of the times when Sald's going to games,
- 34:55Speaker 7: I've seen styles stories like I saw him at the
- 34:57Speaker 7: Islanders game, Mikey.
- 34:58Speaker 3: He's sitting in the owners week by the way, next
- 35:02Speaker 3: to Jerry. Yeah, exactly the last two games. I was
- 35:05Speaker 3: with Jerry Seinfeld in a met game and the owner
- 35:07Speaker 3: suite at the Islander game. And I'm talking about the
- 35:09Speaker 3: golf being elite. Things change? How dare these elitists?
- 35:16Speaker 2: Sally?
- 35:16Speaker 3: You want to go to these games? Where where are
- 35:18Speaker 3: the seats? Are the tickets? A are they free? There's
- 35:21Speaker 3: a couple of free parking and it's gonna be the
- 35:22Speaker 3: sweet because if it is, I'll be there and wants
- 35:25Speaker 3: to freeze their rear Endolph in the stands. You know,
- 35:27Speaker 3: baseball is making some news here nationally. We know it's
- 35:30Speaker 3: it's a local sport primarily, but it is starting to
- 35:32Speaker 3: come into the play, come into play where they think
- 35:34Speaker 3: being more national. And how about the Pirates, the Pirates
- 35:37Speaker 3: of all teams. I never thought I'd be talking about
- 35:39Speaker 3: the Pittsburgh Pirates doing a national radio show, but here
- 35:41Speaker 3: we are. Connor Griffin signs one hundred and forty million
- 35:44Speaker 3: dollar extension with the team before he even plays a game.
- 35:47Speaker 3: I don't was that even before he played a game.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I don't know the exact time it. I know we
- 35:50Speaker 3: just got called up. He's barely been in the big
- 35:52Speaker 3: leagues here and they give him that money, and then
- 35:54Speaker 3: Paul Schemes talks about him being the face of the franchise,
- 35:58Speaker 3: which you know, this kid is gonna be here a
- 36:01Speaker 3: long time. Who knows. With Paul Skens, I just have
- 36:04Speaker 3: an issue with the Pirates. If they're gonna commit that
- 36:06Speaker 3: money to Griffin, why wouldn't they have done the same
- 36:08Speaker 3: thing with Paul Skeens years ago, and then you could
- 36:10Speaker 3: have two phases of the franchise moving forward like a
- 36:12Speaker 3: well run you know, kind of playing off of what
- 36:14Speaker 3: we started the show with with Dexter Lawrence. The Pirates
- 36:17Speaker 3: have been in the business of being in a bad
- 36:18Speaker 3: spot where they lose all the good players that they
- 36:20Speaker 3: draft and develop. Trying to prevent that with Connor Griffin,
- 36:22Speaker 3: but it's probably gonna happen with Paul Skeens at some point.
- 36:25Speaker 3: I did not have a problem with Skeen's comments though myself,
- 36:27Speaker 3: I didn't think it was a big deal. I think
- 36:29Speaker 3: he's just trying to hype up his guy, Connor Griffin.
- 36:31Speaker 7: Yeah, Skeens, I don't think Paul Skeens would be offended
- 36:34Speaker 7: if I say this, but he's not the most charismatic guy,
- 36:37Speaker 7: so him just talking to the media already is a
- 36:40Speaker 7: bit out of character for him. And sell to your
- 36:44Speaker 7: point of giving long term extensions to these these prospects
- 36:48Speaker 7: or these guys that really haven't played too much. This
- 36:50Speaker 7: does feel like a small market team thing to do,
- 36:53Speaker 7: where I can't imagine the Yankees ever giving an extension
- 36:57Speaker 7: to Dominguez or ti Volpi before they ever.
- 37:01Speaker 3: Make these moves.
- 37:02Speaker 7: But for me, when it comes to Griffin verse schemes,
- 37:06Speaker 7: it does feel easier to project what a everyday position
- 37:10Speaker 7: player is going to be and justifying that long term
- 37:14Speaker 7: contract instead of a pitcher who won bad injury and
- 37:18Speaker 7: that picture is gonna miss, you know, a year to
- 37:20Speaker 7: a year and a half with Tommy John.
- 37:22Speaker 3: But don't you think, because this is where I sit
- 37:24Speaker 3: on this, and it does vary on the team. If
- 37:26Speaker 3: you're the Pirates, you need to do whatever you can
- 37:29Speaker 3: to take your best shot and gamble and take a
- 37:32Speaker 3: chance on Connor Griffin. Now, let's use him as the
- 37:34Speaker 3: current example and bet that he's going to be a stud,
- 37:36Speaker 3: because if you don't you're not going to be able
- 37:39Speaker 3: to keep him. I mean, think about how pathetic that
- 37:41Speaker 3: is that that's the largest contract in their franchise history,
- 37:44Speaker 3: one hundred and forty million. The Yankees and Mets have
- 37:46Speaker 3: looked that on fire. The Dodgers, other team, whatever, the
- 37:48Speaker 3: top teams, they light that on fire. However, I would
- 37:52Speaker 3: say that if you're a powerhouse team Yanks met whoever,
- 37:56Speaker 3: you Dodgers, the one area that I would be open
- 37:58Speaker 3: to extending a young player it would be pitching because
- 38:01Speaker 3: in the event those guys do hit and become the
- 38:04Speaker 3: studs that you expect them to be if they get
- 38:07Speaker 3: to the open market, the price is astronomical and you're
- 38:11Speaker 3: paying for their latter years as opposed to getting let's
- 38:15Speaker 3: say Cam Schlitzler. If the Yankees go to him right now,
- 38:17Speaker 3: give the one hundred and fifty million guaranteed. You don't
- 38:19Speaker 3: think he take that. Now you're gambling. You're taking a gamble.
- 38:21Speaker 3: But if he won, you know, if he it's free agency,
- 38:23Speaker 3: you to be paying three times that.
- 38:26Speaker 7: I'm happy for that Pirates fan base because it feels like,
- 38:29Speaker 7: for the first time in a while that that fan
- 38:32Speaker 7: base has hope. You look at Paul Skiings he's twenty three.
- 38:34Speaker 7: Bubba Chandler another great starting pitcher, he's twenty three. Connor
- 38:37Speaker 7: Griffins nineteen. They have the number three farm system according
- 38:41Speaker 7: to MOB Pipeline. So the past three decades, the Pirates
- 38:45Speaker 7: have had four winning seasons, which sounds crazy. And I
- 38:50Speaker 7: think you can make the argument that there's no bigger
- 38:52Speaker 7: gap in sports than the one between how gorgeous PNC
- 38:56Speaker 7: Park is and then how unwatchable the team that's been
- 39:00Speaker 7: playing inside has been.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's when you put it that way. The ballpark
- 39:04Speaker 3: is great, the team is stunk outside of what you know.
- 39:06Speaker 3: They finally got back to the postseason with McCutcheon years ago.
- 39:09Speaker 3: That was great wildcard to have a team that has
- 39:12Speaker 3: been that bad consistently for that long. As a fan,
- 39:16Speaker 3: why would you bother? Like the Mets have been bad? Obviously,
- 39:18Speaker 3: the Jets have been all fun. I would say the
- 39:20Speaker 3: same thing to you, Mike Yea, a Jeff fan, like,
- 39:21Speaker 3: why would you bother? As a Jet fan? Maybe a
- 39:23Speaker 3: little different with the NFL because it's not as long
- 39:26Speaker 3: of a season and the hope is kind of there.
- 39:29Speaker 3: You could cross your fingers and hope for Arch Manning,
- 39:31Speaker 3: which I don't think is gonna happen, But in the
- 39:33Speaker 3: event that you do happen to hit on one, it
- 39:35Speaker 3: could change the entire course of the franchise. Whereas with baseball,
- 39:39Speaker 3: they're never gonna have the money. The Jets isn't a
- 39:41Speaker 3: money issue. It's a personnel issue. The Pirates is a
- 39:46Speaker 3: financial thing, and that's not changing. It's unless there's a cap,
- 39:49Speaker 3: and that's a whole other issue for a lockout on
- 39:51Speaker 3: work stoppage. It's never gonna change. For the mid market,
- 39:54Speaker 3: low market, small market teams, they're never gonna be able
- 39:57Speaker 3: to keep it with the Mets, Yankees, Dodgers in the
- 39:59Speaker 3: higher So if I'm a Pirate fan, I just all
- 40:02Speaker 3: you have is a ballpark. At least you do have
- 40:04Speaker 3: a nice ballpark.
- 40:06Speaker 7: When I saw the headline that Paul Skeins made cryptic comments,
- 40:09Speaker 7: I was like, Oh my god, what did Paul Skins say?
- 40:11Speaker 7: And then I watched the clip and watch how he
- 40:13Speaker 7: delivered it. So when I clicked on that video, I
- 40:17Speaker 7: thought he was going to say, like, I can't wait
- 40:19Speaker 7: to strike out Connor Griffin when I'm a meta of Yankee.
- 40:22Speaker 7: That's how they were kind of prefacing how bad the
- 40:25Speaker 7: comment was.
- 40:27Speaker 3: I mean, he didn't have to say face of the
- 40:29Speaker 3: franchise if you were a pirate fan. If I were
- 40:32Speaker 3: a Pirate fan, I probably be hurt by that if
- 40:36Speaker 3: I hear my guy's skiing saying that, because you know
- 40:39Speaker 3: he's leaving anyway, you already know it. But now he's
- 40:41Speaker 3: hitting me in the face where they're like, this is
- 40:43Speaker 3: a face of the franchise moving forward.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Yeah, I read that as Paul Skin's like, man, he
- 40:48Speaker 5: is going to be the face of the franchise when
- 40:50Speaker 5: I'm elsewhere.
- 40:51Speaker 6: That is going to be great for him, Like good
- 40:54Speaker 6: for him. The Pittsburgh should be happy that.
- 40:56Speaker 5: They've got a guy who's just awkward and nice enough
- 40:59Speaker 5: to not talk about how he wants out. But it's
- 41:02Speaker 5: sort of been like, yeah, I'm gonna be out, like
- 41:05Speaker 5: I'll do what i can while I'm here, but I'm
- 41:07Speaker 5: not gonna be here very long.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I think when you look at it
- 41:12Speaker 3: with Skens, he's destined to be a Yankee. I mean,
- 41:15Speaker 3: the writing has been on the wall for a while. Unfortunately,
- 41:17Speaker 3: Yankees believe that so much so that they try to
- 41:20Speaker 3: trade for him, which is ridiculous. If you're the Pirates,
- 41:22Speaker 3: I'd be like, get the hell out of here, don't
- 41:23Speaker 3: even don't even call my phone. We're not trading him.
- 41:27Speaker 3: You may get him in four years, whenever he hit
- 41:29Speaker 3: Tree Agent. Three years, you may get him in. I'm
- 41:31Speaker 3: not trading him to you. And if you are gonna
- 41:33Speaker 3: consider a trade, you better start with Cam Schlitzler. Then
- 41:36Speaker 3: the whole conversation would you do that? Even now if
- 41:38Speaker 3: you're the Yankees, Well, if I'm the Pirates, say it
- 41:40Speaker 3: starts with Cam Schlitler. But the Pirate, there's no point.
- 41:43Speaker 3: The Pirates, I hate to say, might as well fold
- 41:45Speaker 3: because they have such great history and great uniforms and
- 41:47Speaker 3: a great ballpark. But like, if you can't keep Paul Skeens, well,
- 41:52Speaker 3: what are we doing here? The sport has a problem.
- 41:53Speaker 3: It's got to be better than that. I'm not saying
- 41:55Speaker 3: the cap is salary cap is an answer here, But
- 41:58Speaker 3: it does seem like Paul Skeens is destined to be
- 42:00Speaker 3: a New York Yankee, doesn't it.
- 42:02Speaker 5: But do you think there's a number that Paul Skins
- 42:05Speaker 5: is like, yeah, I'll stay like a real question number.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Well, I mean, what are we talking about if if
- 42:12Speaker 3: you're him.
- 42:13Speaker 6: Everybody has a number, I said, a realistic number.
- 42:16Speaker 5: Okay, well, what's talking if they go if they say
- 42:21Speaker 5: four hundred million for what five years?
- 42:24Speaker 3: Is that five years? That's not realistic. That four hundred
- 42:31Speaker 3: million isn't really isn't realistic for the pirates, I mean
- 42:33Speaker 3: ten yeah, yeah, okay, well yeah, if they offer a
- 42:36Speaker 3: four hundred million dollar deal, I'm not even so sure
- 42:39Speaker 3: he would take it. He might pull a Soto and
- 42:41Speaker 3: be like, no, I don't think he would, but he should.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I was doing this a little prep work for the
- 42:46Speaker 3: TV show later on, because we're talking about Noel McLean
- 42:48Speaker 3: and how this would tie into that. Right, another young picture,
- 42:50Speaker 3: Cam Schlitz or Paul Skins whatever. Schein's different level. We
- 42:53Speaker 3: know that, but it goes into the thought of trying
- 42:55Speaker 3: to lock these guys up. What would be a fair price.
- 42:57Speaker 3: If you go back to twenty thirteen where Matt Harvey
- 43:01Speaker 3: took the Baseball world by storm and started the All
- 43:04Speaker 3: Star Game like I would tell you, oh dude, I
- 43:07Speaker 3: did say, I wouldn't trade this guy for anybody in
- 43:09Speaker 3: the Mets. Better pay him. Harvey in his career ended
- 43:13Speaker 3: up I think netting under fifty million bucks. So imagine
- 43:16Speaker 3: going to Matt Harvey in twenty twelve and it's saying,
- 43:18Speaker 3: we'll give you one hundred and fifty million guaranteed. He
- 43:20Speaker 3: probably spinted you. What are you insane? One hundred fifty million,
- 43:22Speaker 3: I'm gonna have free agency. I'm gonna get three hundred million.
- 43:25Speaker 3: And yet here we are, And there are endless other
- 43:27Speaker 3: examples of that. But there are also the examples the
- 43:30Speaker 3: other way, where if you did pay, it's all about
- 43:32Speaker 3: getting Yankees. Did it with Louis Everarino tried to lock
- 43:34Speaker 3: him up and even that was a four year, forty
- 43:36Speaker 3: million that whatever was, it was a real cheap deal,
- 43:38Speaker 3: but he never lived up to the expectation. It's a
- 43:41Speaker 3: gamble that the rich teams don't have to take, and
- 43:45Speaker 3: the teams like the pirates have to do it. What's
- 43:48Speaker 3: the worst case for the pirates? This contract prevents them
- 43:51Speaker 3: from spending any money. They never spend any money anyway,
- 43:54Speaker 3: So what's the worst case scenario? Here? Skin's gonna be Yankee?
- 43:56Speaker 10: I know it.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Just braced yourself for it. I am you guys could
- 43:59Speaker 3: get except about it. Go buy your skiens Jersey. He'll
- 44:01Speaker 3: be Yankee sooner then later.
- 44:03Speaker 5: We all know it is it just Gonn Taylor. Does
- 44:05Speaker 5: he say Dodger weird? He's having Dodger like Yankee.
- 44:12Speaker 3: You think he's going to the Dodgers, skeins.
- 44:14Speaker 6: I think everybody's going to the Dodgers, because that's what caps.
- 44:18Speaker 3: The report was last year that one of his I
- 44:20Speaker 3: think it was his teammates who remained anonymous, said that
- 44:24Speaker 3: he believes, you know, his his his his wife or girlfriend,
- 44:27Speaker 3: Libby Done. She maybe prefers New York. And we've heard
- 44:31Speaker 3: this story before, but he grew up a Yankee fan
- 44:33Speaker 3: or whatever it is. He probably wants to pitch for
- 44:36Speaker 3: the Yankees. And if that's the case, if he wants to,
- 44:39Speaker 3: then if it comes down to just money, I think
- 44:41Speaker 3: the Yankees will get out bit, whether it's the Dodgers
- 44:43Speaker 3: or the Mets. But if it comes down to Skeens
- 44:45Speaker 3: wanting to be a Yankee because he just wants the
- 44:48Speaker 3: power of the pin stripes, the history, and then I
- 44:49Speaker 3: think he's gonna be Yankee. I mean, I would bet
- 44:52Speaker 3: that that would be the case. Yankees have shown that
- 44:54Speaker 3: they have not been able to go out there or
- 44:56Speaker 3: not been willing to spend the most money. Speaking of
- 44:58Speaker 3: the Yankees. Mike is online Long Island. Mike, You're on
- 45:02Speaker 3: Fox Sports Radio. Fox. What's up? Mike?
- 45:05Speaker 10: Hey, how you doing? So?
- 45:06Speaker 6: We really miss you over here in Long Island.
- 45:09Speaker 10: In New York City.
- 45:10Speaker 3: Okay, well, I mean I didn't die. You could look
- 45:13Speaker 3: at my YouTube channel and podcasts and Fox Sports Radio. Now,
- 45:17Speaker 3: I mean it's it's not What are you missing? Just
- 45:19Speaker 3: just go on the internet so I know it's stop
- 45:21Speaker 3: being lazy. Will you look it up Google? Out of
- 45:24Speaker 3: YouTube you can find me speaking of being lazy.
- 45:26Speaker 10: I actually downloaded iHeartRadio for you for this show.
- 45:29Speaker 6: So there you go.
- 45:31Speaker 3: That means the world to me. Thank you, There you go, Mike,
- 45:33Speaker 3: Thank you very much for that. We appreciate what's on
- 45:35Speaker 3: your mind.
- 45:36Speaker 10: So if Uncle Stevie were listening, could you just give
- 45:40Speaker 10: me like only you can speak for us, speak for
- 45:43Speaker 10: the met bands and tell him how we're feeling about
- 45:45Speaker 10: David Peterson because we need a break, sou We can't.
- 45:49Speaker 10: I can't keep doing this over and over again, spotting
- 45:52Speaker 10: the other team five runs in the first inning.
- 45:55Speaker 3: I'll take requests here today, especially if you download the
- 45:58Speaker 3: free iHeartRadio app and listened to us. So for you,
- 46:01Speaker 3: for you Mike, and we appreciate that very much. Thank
- 46:03Speaker 3: you for your loyalty. We appreciate you making the effort
- 46:06Speaker 3: download the app and listen, and I will take the
- 46:08Speaker 3: request if Steve Cohen is in fact listening to this,
- 46:10Speaker 3: and maybe he is. I mean I think he might
- 46:12Speaker 3: be a fan. Who is it. Here's what I'll do
- 46:15Speaker 3: for you. David Peterson has to go. He's been terrible.
- 46:21Speaker 3: Last year. He couldn't give you three pregod innings. The
- 46:24Speaker 3: Mets needed a starter to give him some length. The
- 46:26Speaker 3: guy was an all star in the first half of
- 46:27Speaker 3: the year. Then he comes out he couldn't get you
- 46:29Speaker 3: through the third inning. He can't play Mendy his best picture.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Peterson couldn't give it to him. And then this year
- 46:35Speaker 3: he gets another start. What's he done? He's been terrible
- 46:37Speaker 3: in two starts.
- 46:39Speaker 6: I'm out out of the rotation.
- 46:42Speaker 3: That's it now the problem that you have. Hopefully that
- 46:44Speaker 3: was good for you there, Mike. We'll take more requests
- 46:46Speaker 3: if you like. We're here for another forty minutes, and
- 46:48Speaker 3: it feels good to get that out of my system.
- 46:50Speaker 3: I would not go that nuts realistically yet with Peterson,
- 46:53Speaker 3: but I think it's trending that way. I didn't trust
- 46:54Speaker 3: Peterson to start the year.
- 46:56Speaker 6: Where are we talking?
- 46:56Speaker 3: David Peterson is a national show. But the Mets rotation
- 47:00Speaker 3: does have some issues here and it shows you. That's
- 47:02Speaker 3: why the pitching is tough to predict. Guy was an
- 47:04Speaker 3: All Star of the first half of last year, fell
- 47:05Speaker 3: off the cliff in the second half of last year.
- 47:07Speaker 3: We're talking about paying these guys long term. I still though,
- 47:10Speaker 3: if anything, I would do with the pitching and not
- 47:12Speaker 3: the position players, especially if you're from a powerhouse team.
- 47:16Speaker 3: Dan Tel, you're going to a baseball game this weekend.
- 47:19Speaker 3: When are you going? You're taking your nephews here? What's
- 47:21Speaker 3: going on with that?
- 47:22Speaker 7: So I'm taking my little cousins to the inter Miami
- 47:26Speaker 7: soccer match to see Leo Messi and sal What complicates
- 47:31Speaker 7: even further. They're ten and seven, but they live in Italy,
- 47:36Speaker 7: so this is speak English. They do speak English, so
- 47:40Speaker 7: they moved to Italy probably five years ago, so they're
- 47:45Speaker 7: both fairly young. They're they're both bilingual. But this does
- 47:49Speaker 7: feel like it's going to be a bit of a
- 47:50Speaker 7: challenge for me, not only the kids, but having little
- 47:54Speaker 7: Italian kids.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Oh no, no, it's not gonna be a bit of
- 47:57Speaker 3: a challenge. It's going to be a massive challenge for you.
- 47:59Speaker 6: Now.
- 47:59Speaker 3: I didn't I said it was a soccer game. I
- 48:01Speaker 3: thought it was like a Marlins game. And I'm like,
- 48:02Speaker 3: good God, what are you doing? At least you going
- 48:04Speaker 3: to see MESSI who is worth the price of admission.
- 48:06Speaker 3: I'm not a huge soccer fan, but I've seen him
- 48:07Speaker 3: play when he came to New York. It is lights out, dude,
- 48:11Speaker 3: you know what you in for. Have you ever done
- 48:12Speaker 3: this before? Gone to a soccer match?
- 48:15Speaker 6: Yes?
- 48:15Speaker 3: Done it with a ten year old and a seven
- 48:17Speaker 3: year old?
- 48:17Speaker 2: No?
- 48:17Speaker 7: So that's what I'm kind of need help from the
- 48:19Speaker 7: dads here what to expect because I'm I'm sending texts like, Hey,
- 48:24Speaker 7: do I need to go to the bathroom with them?
- 48:27Speaker 7: Do I need to, you know, hold their hand when
- 48:29Speaker 7: we're crossing your troths?
- 48:30Speaker 6: Dude?
- 48:32Speaker 3: Are there? Do I need court seats? I'm trying to
- 48:35Speaker 3: get a course and.
- 48:38Speaker 5: Just just fly me or sal down there just to
- 48:41Speaker 5: help you out, because oh man, no, you're done.
- 48:45Speaker 7: So the thing I'm not worried about is the spending part,
- 48:48Speaker 7: Like I've already bought like the closest parking pass to
- 48:52Speaker 7: cut one of the challenges. And then I think we're
- 48:55Speaker 7: just going to go to the game as early as possible,
- 48:57Speaker 7: go to the team store, let them kind of run
- 48:59Speaker 7: around the the fan zone area, and then I'm just
- 49:02Speaker 7: gonna I'm just gonna try to buy their love with like, Hey,
- 49:04Speaker 7: do you guys want messy jerseys? Do you guys want
- 49:07Speaker 7: cotton candy? Do you guys want soda?
- 49:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the easy part, and that's fun easy. Everything
- 49:13Speaker 3: else that is a nightmare. I gotta go to the bathroom.
- 49:16Speaker 3: I gotta go to the bathroom. Wow, we're trying to
- 49:18Speaker 3: watch Messi come down here or it's a penalty gig
- 49:20Speaker 3: or whatever happens in soccer.
- 49:21Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I'm not really a big soccer man, but like, you
- 49:23Speaker 3: gonna be missing Put it this way, you'd be lucky
- 49:25Speaker 3: if you see Messi on the field period, you're gonna
- 49:27Speaker 3: be doing everything else. Can we get this? Can we
- 49:29Speaker 3: get that? You have any idea of you? You just
- 49:32Speaker 3: need to surrender now, that would be my advice. Surrender.
- 49:35Speaker 3: If you think you're gonna go there and watch a
- 49:37Speaker 3: game or see a performance from Messi, you're not. It's
- 49:40Speaker 3: gonna be all about those kids, as it should be,
- 49:42Speaker 3: But surrender yourself for a day of complete exhaustion and
- 49:47Speaker 3: a lot of frustration as well. And you're gonna need
- 49:49Speaker 3: a nap after that. Set your clock. Good thing you
- 49:51Speaker 3: take naps. You canna need a nap after that one.
- 49:53Speaker 3: So the only tips I have so far are surrender.
- 49:57Speaker 6: Yeshrender, be ready to referee fights.
- 50:01Speaker 5: Because when the seven year old has to go to
- 50:03Speaker 5: the bathroom, and that means all three of you have
- 50:05Speaker 5: to go to the bathroom, And the ten year old
- 50:07Speaker 5: doesn't want to go to the bathroom, so he's going
- 50:08Speaker 5: to start throwing a fit. But because he's not going
- 50:11Speaker 5: to get what you about having to go to the bathroom,
- 50:13Speaker 5: he's going to go with his brother. So him and
- 50:14Speaker 5: his brother are going to start fighting because all three
- 50:16Speaker 5: of you now have to go to the bathroom. Yeah,
- 50:18Speaker 5: that's that's what you're in for.
- 50:21Speaker 3: At least you have they're both boys. Like I had
- 50:23Speaker 3: the issue. I don't know these things, Like I'm a
- 50:25Speaker 3: first time parent, I have a daughter. Do I go
- 50:27Speaker 3: in the men's room? Do I go in the women's room?
- 50:30Speaker 2: Like?
- 50:31Speaker 3: What do I do here? I don't If somebody helped
- 50:32Speaker 3: me out, I have no idea. It's crazy the first
- 50:34Speaker 3: time you experienced it, I don't know. You learn from doing.
- 50:37Speaker 3: But in that spot, I mean, can't be having any mistakes.
- 50:39Speaker 3: So good luck with all that tailor. That's what I
- 50:41Speaker 3: would say. Just know that you're in for, know what
- 50:43Speaker 3: you're in for. This is not Taylor Uncle Taylor gonna
- 50:46Speaker 3: be enjoying a game. This is oh man, I'm going
- 50:49Speaker 3: to be trying to do the best that I count by.
- 50:52Speaker 5: Yeah, you cannot buy a ten or a seven year
- 50:55Speaker 5: old's love, but you can just rent it for about
- 50:59Speaker 5: twenty minutes.
- 51:00Speaker 7: Okay, So my my best hope is that since they're
- 51:03Speaker 7: Italian and we're going to a soccer match, that at
- 51:07Speaker 7: least I'm not taking them to something that they don't
- 51:09Speaker 7: want to watch.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Right, well, why would you do that? I mean that
- 51:13Speaker 3: would be that that would be the worst thing, taking
- 51:16Speaker 3: them something to or on ice.
- 51:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I've done that.
