  continue reading through the second book of the Old Testament

  the second book of the pentateuch.

  Now this book of Exodus was written by Moses and when we say

  written by Moses, it wasn't Moses at sat down one night and

  thought I'd best capture all this down and scribbled it away.

  No, that's not how they did it back in the ancient near East.

  They were not a literate Society, it wasn't the sort of

  place where everyone went to school, learn to read and write

  No. This was an oral tradition where

  they would pass stories down, very accurately orally from

  generation to generation. And so each time it was spoken,

  the author would be shared. This is what Moses said.

  And so Moses words, Moses story was passed down, and passed down

  and passed down until one day, it was.

  The described in a professional writer would capture the story

  when God decided it was time. And so that is how we have the

  story written down. So, yes, Moses is the authority

  behind the books but it wasn't him that penned these words.

  This was his story that he shared and was passed down

  through the generations until the time that God decided to

  have a written down. And so that is how we have it

  written down today for us to read together.

  And today, we are going to hear all about the History of that,
• 1:48
  man. Moses and his brother because

  they are going to play a pretty Central role.

  So we better just get it, find out exactly who they are and how

  they fit into the Hebrew people. So join me as you.

  And I are going to read together, Exodus chapter 6,

  Then the Lord told Moses now, you will see what I will do to

  the Egyptians. I am well aware of my Covenant

  with them. Therefore, say to the people of

  Israel, I am the Lord. I will free you from your

  oppression. And I will rescue you from your

  slavery in Egypt. I will redeem you with a
• 3:17
  powerful arm and great acts of judgment.

  I will claim you as my own people and I will be your God
• 3:26
  then you will know that I am the Lord.

  Your God who was freed you from your oppression in?
• 3:33
  Egypt, I will bring you into the land.

  I swore to give to Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

  I will give it to you as your very own possession.

  I am the Lord. So Moses told the people of

  Israel, what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen

  anymore, they had become too discouraged by the brutality of

  their slavery. Then the Lord said to Moses, go

  back to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and tell him to let the

  people of Israel, leave his country.

  But Lord, Moses objected my own people won't listen to me

  anymore. How can I expect pharaoh to
