- 0:35Speaker 2: a drawt of bro what Welcome to Girls Gone Homemark
- 0:56Speaker 2: a Homemark review podcast. I'm Megan, and I'm your longtime
- 0:59Speaker 2: home movie fan.
- 1:00Speaker 3: I'm Wendy. I'm your Hallmark former Hallmark hater every time.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Some day I know I'll get it someday.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Thank you for listening today as we discuss Field Day,
- 1:11Speaker 2: the final movie before Hallmark starts dropping a barrage of
- 1:16Speaker 2: countdown to Christmas movies. Alright, I would like you to
- 1:21Speaker 2: know this is not a complaint. I'm not asking for help.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I just sometimes need to say these things out loud.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I'm feeling overwhelmed. And it's not just this podcast. It's
- 1:32Speaker 2: just it's the middle of October and you know life's
- 1:35Speaker 2: about to get in the high gear. Yeah. Kind about
- 1:38Speaker 2: once or twice a year, I get this feeling like
- 1:41Speaker 2: life would be okay if everyone would just go away
- 1:44Speaker 2: for a week and not need me. Take the dogs,
- 1:49Speaker 2: go away, let me get my life in order, let
- 1:52Speaker 2: me do every last bit of laundry, let me deep
- 1:55Speaker 2: clean the house, let me work whenever I want to
- 1:59Speaker 2: without inner. I just need seven days. Can you relate
- 2:02Speaker 2: to that or no? Am I being no?
- 2:03Speaker 3: I can completely relate to that. But if I were
- 2:07Speaker 3: to have seven days alone, I don't want to do
- 2:10Speaker 3: all the laundry and clean the house. Well, there's other priorities.
- 2:14Speaker 3: I know.
- 2:14Speaker 2: This is our Homewark podcast. I want you to know
- 2:17Speaker 2: that I one time had the opportunity to have eight
- 2:20Speaker 2: days home alone, and I think what was surprising to
- 2:23Speaker 2: me is that in that time, when you don't have
- 2:28Speaker 2: anybody else who needs you, the amount of hours in
- 2:31Speaker 2: the day is staggering. I know. So it was like, yeah,
- 2:36Speaker 2: I can spend a couple hours of the sixteen hours.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I'm awake every day and still have plenty of time
- 2:43Speaker 2: to Like, I can sit down and watch a movie
- 2:45Speaker 2: that I don't have to review. Yeah, I could binge
- 2:47Speaker 2: watch an entire show. In the course of that week,
- 2:49Speaker 2: there's a couple hours for reading. There's time for me
- 2:52Speaker 2: to go on a walk without an agenda. I think
- 2:55Speaker 2: you'd be shocked what a full week can do now what.
- 2:58Speaker 2: I love an actual full week, yes, but thinking in reality,
- 3:02Speaker 2: I'm like, well, there's stuff I got to get done,
- 3:04Speaker 2: so I'd love to get it done on my own time.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Got you.
- 3:09Speaker 3: So what you're trying to say is you feel behind
- 3:11Speaker 3: the eight ball?
- 3:12Speaker 2: Oh very much, so very much. So I'm trying to
- 3:16Speaker 2: get ahead of the game by the end of this weekend.
- 3:19Speaker 2: That's my goal that I go into next week and
- 3:21Speaker 2: I'm on top of my game. So check back with us.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Well, I think that your body's already shutting down on you,
- 3:25Speaker 3: because if you can't tell Megan's voice is gone for
- 3:28Speaker 3: no reason.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I apologize. I don't know how long it's going to
- 3:31Speaker 2: be like this. I'm on day five. If you want
- 3:35Speaker 2: more from us, you can find us on Instagram. We
- 3:38Speaker 2: are at Girls Gone Hallmark and at Megan and Wendy.

- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe we bit off more than we can chase there.

- 4:09Speaker 3: could listen to our entire library. It's right Patreon for free.
- 4:13Speaker 3: It's right, guys, jump into our Girls Gone Hallmark Facebook group.
- 4:20Speaker 3: That number's taken up little bit, little bit, little bit
- 4:23Speaker 3: every single day. Makes me happy. And it's a very
- 4:29Speaker 3: nice group filled with very nice people who have a
- 4:33Speaker 3: lot of opinions about Hallmark movies and I love it.
- 4:36Speaker 2: It's a fantastic group of people. Let's do some Hallmark
- 4:40Speaker 2: news and notes. Okay, I love Wendy's note Hallmarks and
- 4:44Speaker 2: they're Taylor Swift Era they sure are. I'd love to
- 4:47Speaker 2: know how much they paid for this, but they are
- 4:48Speaker 2: using Taylor Swift's Christmas Tree Farm song in their twenty
- 4:51Speaker 2: twenty three count nd to Christmas promos.
- 4:53Speaker 3: I mean they're so smart. I don't know who's running
- 4:56Speaker 3: that show over there right now, but I mean it
- 4:59Speaker 3: makes sense to like.
- 5:00Speaker 2: The same person who put New Kids on the Block
- 5:02Speaker 2: in a movie that was designed for mothers of a
- 5:07Speaker 2: certain age.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Thank you for the reminder. I forgot to add it
- 5:10Speaker 3: to my notes.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Yes, we'll talk more about that.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Okay, Sleepy Kitty paw over on Twitter. Look, I'm just
- 5:16Speaker 3: always gonna call it Twitter. I don't care if you
- 5:18Speaker 3: don't follow this person. This person knows everything about Hallmark
- 5:21Speaker 3: movies and more so if you're on the Twitter they
- 5:26Speaker 3: have to.
- 5:27Speaker 2: They're pulling back on their like holiday movie coverage, but
- 5:30Speaker 2: they're still covering quite a bit.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Look at it is going to be my everest to
- 5:35Speaker 3: get this person on our show.
- 5:37Speaker 2: We'll use a voice modulator if we have to.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yes, like we will share anything. We could do it
- 5:43Speaker 3: all via audio. It doesn't even have to be on camera.
- 5:46Speaker 3: I don't need to see what this person looks.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Like that doom WATCHI has a podcast and she's anonymous,
- 5:51Speaker 2: but people hear her voice.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I know, see, I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna email
- 5:55Speaker 3: them again. Anyway, my point was Sleepy Kitty Paw shared
- 5:59Speaker 3: that Field Day pulled in one point five to million
- 6:05Speaker 3: live viewers and point one to two of the key demo.
- 6:09Speaker 3: This movie was the top non sports program of the evening.
- 6:14Speaker 2: That's a lot of people watching, particularly in like football season.
- 6:19Speaker 3: That was Saturday night college.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Yeah, lots of competition.
- 6:25Speaker 3: How many total number of holiday movies across all platforms
- 6:30Speaker 3: and channels do you think there are this year for
- 6:32Speaker 3: twenty twenty three?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Well, I hate to be this person, but I saw
- 6:37Speaker 2: this tweet as well, so I know that it's roughly
- 6:41Speaker 2: in the one fifty range. Yeah, which is significantly less
- 6:45Speaker 2: than last year. Although it's still a huge number of
- 6:48Speaker 2: holiday movies.
- 6:49Speaker 3: It's a big number of holiday movies. But I'm gonna
- 6:52Speaker 3: have to guess that the strikes.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Of course, something to do with it.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Of course, Yeah, I mean, are you okay with one
- 7:01Speaker 3: hundred and fifty five twenty legs? I mean, when I'm
- 7:06Speaker 3: looking at the Hallmark schedule, it's a lot. And then
- 7:11Speaker 3: I might see an ad for an Eddie Murphy Christmas
- 7:14Speaker 3: movie over on Amazon and I'm like, where am I
- 7:16Speaker 3: gonna add that? I have to watch all these Hallmark
- 7:19Speaker 3: movies as it is? Per Hallmark three Bed two Bath
- 7:23Speaker 3: one Ghost was a ratings quote knockout. This is the
- 7:27Speaker 3: part I don't understand and his girl Math with three
- 7:31Speaker 3: point nine million unduplicated total viewers.
- 7:34Speaker 2: Are they pulling from streaming services? I don't know, but nevertheless,
- 7:40Speaker 2: a big win for the network, A big win.
- 7:42Speaker 3: It is the network's most watched twenty twenty three premiere.
- 7:46Speaker 2: I will be interested to see once we get a
- 7:49Speaker 2: full week out from Field Day how those numbers shake out.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Oh good, good, good point.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Let's talk about field Day with a synopsis.
- 7:57Speaker 3: All right, Three moms from some different social circles are
- 8:02Speaker 3: forced to work together to plan their kids' elementary school
- 8:05Speaker 3: field day, starring Rachel Boston, Benjamin Ayirs, Shannon chan Kent,
- 8:12Speaker 3: and Carmel Emmett.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Rachel Boston stars as Jen in this movie. She was
- 8:17Speaker 2: less than the More Love Grows. Before that, she was
- 8:20Speaker 2: in a Christmas cookie catastrophe. But unfortunately we are not
- 8:24Speaker 2: seeing her in this year's Countdown to Christmas lineup.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I feel like she needs to be in more movies,
- 8:31Speaker 3: more Hallmark movies. It's like one a year this was.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I fully believe that this will turn out to be
- 8:38Speaker 2: such a big hit that maybe this will catapult her
- 8:40Speaker 2: a little bit more.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I feel though, that the fans already love her.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I don't disagree, all right, mister.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Romance University plays coach Dan Aldridge. Benjamin Airs has a
- 8:53Speaker 3: whopping ninety three acting credits, including last year's Long Lost Christmas.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Most recently, he is in a Canadian show called Family Law.
- 9:02Speaker 3: He will co star with Laura van der Voot in
- 9:06Speaker 3: Miracle and bethelhem Pa on December twenty first on Hallmark
- 9:10Speaker 3: Movies and Mysteries.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Yeah will.
- 9:12Speaker 3: That movie is not on our current review.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Scheduled be a twenty twenty four look back review.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Ooh, I like you calling it that? What a great name.
- 9:21Speaker 3: That's what we're gonna call it.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Shannon Chan, can't plas Kelly talk about whopping? Kelly has
- 9:26Speaker 2: two hundred eighty six acting credits. Is this most we've
- 9:30Speaker 2: ever seen? It might be. She does a ton of
- 9:32Speaker 2: voice work on animated shows like Strawberry Shortcakes, Sonic Prime,
- 9:36Speaker 2: and Polly Pucket. Her last timemark credit appears to be
- 9:40Speaker 2: twoy nineteen twenty nineteen twenty nineteen's Holiday Date and Flip
- 9:48Speaker 2: that Romance. She was also in The Irresistible Blueberry Farm,
- 9:52Speaker 2: which our listeners are basically begging us to review.
- 9:55Speaker 3: They are, I know, in the Facebook group.
- 9:58Speaker 2: It's an Alie Sweeney joint.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. They wanted this to review it
- 10:01Speaker 3: during the summertime and we didn't, and then it didn't
- 10:05Speaker 3: fall in the fall movies. So maybe sometime in the spring, I.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Mean basically by the time count On to Christmas is over,
- 10:13Speaker 2: will be planning for summer anyway, so keep up the request.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Carmel Emits plays scary lawyer Lady Marissa. She has sixty
- 10:21Speaker 3: five acting credits, including last year's A Fabled Holiday. No
- 10:25Speaker 3: notes there, We're not going to even revisit A Fabled Holiday.
- 10:29Speaker 2: This script was written by Julie Sherman ohl fin Out.
- 10:34Speaker 2: If you don't know her, yeah you do, because listen
- 10:36Speaker 2: to the titles of the movie. She's written fourth down
- 10:38Speaker 2: in love Hanukah on Raie A holiday spectacular always a
- 10:41Speaker 2: more the perfect pairing a Dickens of a holiday, you
- 10:44Speaker 2: me and the Christmas trees right in front of me
- 10:46Speaker 2: taking a shot at love. One Royal Holiday Wedding every weekend. Y'all,
- 10:50Speaker 2: these are good movies. We love her, definitely big fan.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Up next is Holiday Hotline. She took over the script
- 10:58Speaker 2: after the original writer, Dwayne Poo Poo sadly passed away,
- 11:02Speaker 2: and we are reviewing that movie. It's dropping a little
- 11:06Speaker 2: later in the schedule, but it is in our lineup. Yes,
- 11:11Speaker 2: drops on twelve nineteen.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Though.
- 11:12Speaker 3: I mean, when we were reviewing the movies with our
- 11:16Speaker 3: first impressions, Megan was like, this is a Butterball movie,
- 11:20Speaker 3: Butterball Hotline movie.
- 11:21Speaker 2: I'm so excited for this movie, knowing that it's written
- 11:25Speaker 2: by Julie Shermanwolf just it's gonna be great. I know
- 11:28Speaker 2: it's gonna be great, right.
- 11:30Speaker 3: David Winning directed. His previous titles include Time for Him
- 11:33Speaker 3: to Come Home for Christmas, The Nine Kittens of Christmas,
- 11:36Speaker 3: The Twenty Seven Hour Day, and about eighty other movies
- 11:39Speaker 3: because he directs a lot.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And finally, this movie was film last fall in Vancouver, Canada,
- 11:45Speaker 2: where apparently it was very cold.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Hey, I can't remember what it was, but I know
- 11:51Speaker 3: there was like a whole bunch of Hallmark people got
- 11:53Speaker 3: together and got to see screening of this movie. Like
- 11:57Speaker 3: in the summertime.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Maybe okay, sound familiar to you at all? No?
- 12:04Speaker 3: Was it at one of those conventions? Oh?
- 12:06Speaker 2: Did they watch it at.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Think they watch it actually at Homemark headquarters.
- 12:12Speaker 2: I think you're right, like all the Hallmark stars went
- 12:15Speaker 2: to Hallmark Headquarters yet ahead of Christmas con because they
- 12:19Speaker 2: were all in town for that. Yeah, that's ringing a bell.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Okay, we weren't there.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Sadly next year.
- 12:25Speaker 3: Well, I just had a I hope when we go
- 12:28Speaker 3: on our Hallmark cruise we get a little we do preview.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Has that already been announced? There's a screening of a
- 12:35Speaker 3: movie that seats a movie that's not made yet.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Correct, a screening of a twenty twenty four Countdown to
- 12:45Speaker 2: Christmas movie. Our cruise is next November, so it will
- 12:49Speaker 2: have already been announced, will already be in the Countdown
- 12:51Speaker 2: to Christmas lineup, so it'll be one of the later movies.
- 12:55Speaker 2: We had to pick our seats.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I wonder if.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I wonder.
- 13:00Speaker 3: I just had a thought, we're going in November. Am
- 13:04Speaker 3: I going to need a jacket on this cruise? I
- 13:06Speaker 3: pictured me sunny.
- 13:07Speaker 2: You know you won't need a drink. It's like going
- 13:09Speaker 2: to Hawaiian November a light jacket maybe for windy decks,
- 13:14Speaker 2: but it's not going to be It's not likely to
- 13:17Speaker 2: be wintry weather in the Bahamas.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I mean, let's be real. I'm probably gonna be laying
- 13:20Speaker 3: in my bed the entire time because.
- 13:21Speaker 2: I'll be seasick. But no, no, no.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Nice. If any of you are planning to go on
- 13:27Speaker 3: the Hallmark Cruise in November next year.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Let us know.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I want to meet you.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I can't believe it's still over a year. A. Yeah,
- 13:34Speaker 2: it's a long time. I'm away, sad. I want to
- 13:36Speaker 2: go now.
- 13:37Speaker 3: It's a long time away. All right? Are you ready
- 13:39Speaker 3: for your first impression? I am you go first?
- 13:42Speaker 2: Did they film this in my hometown?
- 13:45Speaker 3: In your hometown?
- 13:46Speaker 2: I know every single one of these moms.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Oh that's funny, mine is Julie does it again?
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yes, ma'am? What did you like about field Day?
- 13:57Speaker 3: Well, since we started these use I have always said
- 14:02Speaker 3: that Julie writes for me. I am her demo like
- 14:06Speaker 3: you know, Meg and I if listeners don't know, have
- 14:09Speaker 3: a longtime blogging background. Who's your ideal customers? Your ideal customer?
- 14:14Speaker 3: And I think Julie thinks of me. Wendy in suburban
- 14:18Speaker 3: Orange County when she's writing these movies, because I love
- 14:22Speaker 3: the story she creates, I love the language she uses,
- 14:25Speaker 3: I love her pop cultural references. The jokes are funny.
- 14:32Speaker 3: I does Julie have a you know how that there's
- 14:38Speaker 3: the heinies and then there's the wolves.
- 14:41Speaker 2: The wolves.
- 14:43Speaker 3: That's us, we're coining it now. Yes, yes, I really
- 14:48Speaker 3: really enjoyed this story.
- 14:51Speaker 2: This movie was so relatable mm hmm, deeply relatable, deeply
- 14:57Speaker 2: from the moment she's in the drop offline and gets
- 15:00Speaker 2: out of the car and I'm like, don't get out
- 15:02Speaker 2: of the car.
- 15:03Speaker 3: You know, that's one of Oh my god, They're like,
- 15:05Speaker 3: you can't park here.
- 15:06Speaker 2: I was like that every parent who has done school
- 15:11Speaker 2: drop off knows that moment. We all know that feeling
- 15:14Speaker 2: of not being fully ready and having to get out
- 15:18Speaker 2: of the car for one reason or another. In fact,
- 15:20Speaker 2: happened to me this morning, not at school drop off,
- 15:23Speaker 2: but there is no coffee in my house and I
- 15:30Speaker 2: placed a Starbucks order went to pick it up. It's
- 15:33Speaker 2: kind of like cold and chilly here in the mornings.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I'm wearing my fuzzy crocs around the house.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Geez, did you get out of the car and go,
- 15:40Speaker 3: oh shit, exact morning my feet hit the ground and
- 15:45Speaker 3: I go, oh.
- 15:46Speaker 2: No, I'm in my crocs. But you know what, man,
- 15:48Speaker 2: I just I just owned it. I walked right in.
- 15:50Speaker 2: There were kids from your daughter's school there, and I
- 15:52Speaker 2: was like, they're just talking about this mom and her
- 15:54Speaker 2: crocks and I don't care because I had my coffee
- 15:57Speaker 2: and I turned and it was ready for me. It
- 15:59Speaker 2: was perfect. I've picked it up that thank you in
- 16:01Speaker 2: that we know that moment though, right, yeah, I'm not
- 16:04Speaker 2: going to wear a broad a drop off.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Because I'm not going to get out of the car
- 16:09Speaker 3: until my kid forgets our lunch and I have to
- 16:10Speaker 3: go running after them.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Been there.
- 16:12Speaker 3: This PTO storyline was very relatable, No, deeply. Megan and
- 16:17Speaker 3: I are both moms of teenagers, and we have spent many,
- 16:22Speaker 3: many years involved in the Parent teacher organization association whichever
- 16:27Speaker 3: it's called. In your neck of the woods, we have
- 16:29Speaker 3: all planned field day or a trunk or treat or
- 16:33Speaker 3: a end of year carnival something. Yeah, and there are
- 16:40Speaker 3: those moms there that are in this movie.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Yes, I would like to point out that Julie said
- 16:47Speaker 2: on Twitter that none of these women this is an
- 16:50Speaker 2: amalgamation of people she's known over the years. None of
- 16:53Speaker 2: them are a direct character, but I think we all
- 16:58Speaker 2: know who these women are.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah for sure. Now tell me this. Have you heard
- 17:03Speaker 3: the narrative of the working mom who is not available
- 17:09Speaker 3: to come help at school? And how much shit has
- 17:14Speaker 3: talked about these women who can't be there. It happens,
- 17:21Speaker 3: It really happens, And I'm so glad that Julie put
- 17:24Speaker 3: this in the movie.
- 17:26Speaker 2: One of my favorite scenes is when it's towards the
- 17:29Speaker 2: end and Kelly is talking to Marissa and she's like,
- 17:32Speaker 2: I'm sorry I ever made you feel bad for being
- 17:34Speaker 2: a working mom. You were an amazing mom. You worked
- 17:36Speaker 2: so hard for your family. I loved the female friendships, obviously,
- 17:41Speaker 2: that's the best part of this whole movie. Agree, was
- 17:43Speaker 2: that trio of women. And I just love that she acknowledged, like,
- 17:47Speaker 2: you're such a good mom, even though your mom life
- 17:50Speaker 2: looks different than mine. Right, I'm your best mom friend?
- 17:53Speaker 1: Right?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 17:54Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:55Speaker 2: Made me cry. I cried.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I texted Megan and I was like, why am I crying?
- 17:59Speaker 3: You feel great? Wise loved I loved loved how they
- 18:08Speaker 3: these three women like rallied around each other to help
- 18:13Speaker 3: each other out and they all come from different like sets,
- 18:16Speaker 3: you know, and it was just so nice.
- 18:20Speaker 2: It was so nice.
- 18:21Speaker 3: I love, love, love when Hallmark gives us a movie.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I know, we just talked about it, but when it
- 18:27Speaker 3: gives us a movie about female friendships and the love
- 18:31Speaker 3: story is like the side story. Yes, I have some
- 18:35Speaker 3: thoughts about it, somebody at Hallmark or maybe it's the
- 18:40Speaker 3: writers or I don't know, but I truly believe that women,
- 18:46Speaker 3: and I know men watch Hallmark movies too, but I'm
- 18:47Speaker 3: talking about women here. Women who watch Hallmark movies, me included,
- 18:53Speaker 3: find that female friendships are equally as important as romantic ones,
- 18:58Speaker 3: and I love that they're giving us stories that show that.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yes, I think maybe one of the reasons that resonates
- 19:05Speaker 2: so much with me is not that everybody in my
- 19:08Speaker 2: age is married. But I've been married for eighteen years.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I'm not constantly in the like let's find a new
- 19:12Speaker 2: romance face yeah, but I could make new friends at
- 19:16Speaker 2: any point, like that is an evolving part of my
- 19:19Speaker 2: life forever, whereas romance may not be right.
- 19:23Speaker 3: That's why for me it gets old to watch movie
- 19:25Speaker 3: after movie about like falling in love again. Give me
- 19:29Speaker 3: a break obviously.
- 19:31Speaker 2: I love the NW Kids on the Block moment. I
- 19:33Speaker 2: happen to have been standing up and I just danced
- 19:37Speaker 2: my ass after it.
- 19:39Speaker 3: I did cringe a little bit when she was like
- 19:41Speaker 3: doing the sprinkler move. I was like, don't do that.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Don't do that.
- 19:45Speaker 2: It's like a robot throwback to you.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Yeah, just don't do that, Just do like your fancy
- 19:50Speaker 3: eye mean shake.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Whenever I see moments like this, I think this is
- 19:54Speaker 2: why I could never be an actress, because when they're like,
- 19:56Speaker 2: just just dance, just feel yourself in that moment, I'd
- 20:00Speaker 2: be like, well, I'm now, I'm sorry. I quit. Like
- 20:03Speaker 2: I would need it to be like I would need
- 20:05Speaker 2: to do like the shopping car or the sprinkler just
- 20:09Speaker 2: to get through that moment, or the like stand alive. No,
- 20:13Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. I can't dance and dancing. No,
- 20:17Speaker 2: couldn't do it. He just do this too, bedroom not
- 20:22Speaker 2: on video.
- 20:23Speaker 3: That was pretty funny. I gotta say I was there
- 20:26Speaker 3: really surprised that they used the New Kids on a
- 20:28Speaker 3: Block song. Yeah, and it just was perfect for the
- 20:32Speaker 3: age of woman watching this.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Movie one hundred percent. Yeah.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Yeah, let's talk about Benjamin Airs and in this role.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Okay, I found him.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Charming and kind and mature.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I love Benjamin Air.
- 20:46Speaker 3: I know you do. Did you see that they were
- 20:49Speaker 3: giving away he was giving away the coach the coach?
- 20:52Speaker 2: Sure, I love that. That's really cute.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I just thought that was cute. But I did love
- 20:57Speaker 3: his character in this movie, Like, you know, he was
- 20:59Speaker 3: gonna and I'm like, I was taking it slow. They
- 21:02Speaker 3: both were. They were confused. They were both a little
- 21:06Speaker 3: bit are you done with.
- 21:07Speaker 2: What we liked? Yeah, because this is a transition.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Let's transition.
- 21:11Speaker 2: So for that to me, I like that they were
- 21:14Speaker 2: taking it slow. I liked that they were figuring it out.
- 21:16Speaker 2: It was a little bit of emotional whiplash.
- 21:18Speaker 3: For me, though, I agree, because it was.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Almost one too many back and forth, Like I can
- 21:24Speaker 2: understand that day doesn't go well, we're not ready, Maybe
- 21:26Speaker 2: we are, let's figure this out. And then that same day,
- 21:30Speaker 2: after deciding that they're ready, he's like, I'm backing off again. Yeah,
- 21:34Speaker 2: And he went into this relationship like relationships suck. Love sucks,
- 21:40Speaker 2: and so for him to have that attitude and then
- 21:43Speaker 2: to back out twice, part of me was like, how
- 21:47Speaker 2: can I feel comfortable getting into a new relationship with
- 21:51Speaker 2: you when like, this is what you've shown me.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Now when I'm listening to you hear all these things,
- 21:58Speaker 3: I was like, well, those are not charming, kind of
- 22:01Speaker 3: mature at all. So I just.
- 22:05Speaker 2: Because he's so lovely to her at school, even though
- 22:07Speaker 2: she's like struggling with the door, like from that moment,
- 22:10Speaker 2: they don't have a contentious relationship. And even when he's
- 22:13Speaker 2: like relationships suck, he's like saying it in the context
- 22:16Speaker 2: of her struggling with the idea of getting into a
- 22:19Speaker 2: new relationship. I didn't find it off putting. I just
- 22:23Speaker 2: found it it's fine that that's how you feel, but
- 22:26Speaker 2: you he wasn't giving me the well, like I said,
- 22:30Speaker 2: it was emotional whiplash. I guess moments of like, oh,
- 22:34Speaker 2: he seems like he's very taken by her, and then
- 22:38Speaker 2: moments of like, but relationships under the umbrella suck, Like
- 22:43Speaker 2: he was like, I'm in, I'm out, I'm in, I'm
- 22:46Speaker 2: out right in that same vein. I know that these
- 22:50Speaker 2: movies have to have a romance, but I think we
- 22:54Speaker 2: got to stop trying to make I Love you happen.
- 22:57Speaker 3: That's just my number one wish don't say I'm falling
- 23:00Speaker 3: in love with you, just I'm falling for you is.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Perfectly yes enough, I really like you.
- 23:06Speaker 3: I really like you. We're talking a span of a
- 23:09Speaker 3: few weeks.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Here, they've been on one non date.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Right, Can I go back to the date for a second.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I think it's unfair. This is a woman who was
- 23:20Speaker 3: a widow. You can't expect her not to talk about
- 23:25Speaker 3: her ex husband, yeah, or not even her ex husband,
- 23:28Speaker 3: her dead husband.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah right. And I think like.
- 23:32Speaker 3: She was kind of beating herself up a little bit
- 23:34Speaker 3: after the day she's like, oh, I talked about I
- 23:36Speaker 3: can't remember his name, sorry, her now past husband. I
- 23:40Speaker 3: don't think it's unfair, Like this was a man she loved,
- 23:45Speaker 3: she lost him.
- 23:46Speaker 2: The huge part of her life. You shouldn't just.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Like wipe that clean and be like I'm twenty one
- 23:52Speaker 3: again and like I don't have any baggage yet.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Right.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:56Speaker 3: So I didn't really love how they were like talking
- 24:00Speaker 3: about their exes and they're like, well, we're not ready
- 24:03Speaker 3: because we're still talking about our life.
- 24:07Speaker 2: This is our life. Let's process it out loud. This
- 24:10Speaker 2: is where I'm coming from. Yes, I was in a
- 24:12Speaker 2: loving wonderful marriage. He died. That has left marks on
- 24:19Speaker 2: me and has shaped who I am now.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Right, can we talk about his illness for two seconds?
- 24:29Speaker 3: She says he had a headache, he went to the doctor.
- 24:33Speaker 3: He was dead. Later. I can't remember what it was,
- 24:35Speaker 3: but I was like, don't don't see a headache. I
- 24:38Speaker 3: have headaches every single day. Now this, now I have
- 24:40Speaker 3: this thought in my head. Yeah, of course, of course
- 24:43Speaker 3: I have a brain tumor.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 3: It just made me sad.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yes, anyway, I thought so too. Speaking of sad, I
- 24:53Speaker 2: thought her performance while watching the video of her husband
- 24:57Speaker 2: that he had left for her was beautiful.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Mmmm.
- 25:01Speaker 2: That was another moment where I cried. It gave me a.
- 25:03Speaker 3: Little bit of throwback to Sweet Autumn when Aunty leaves
- 25:08Speaker 3: her like video will will I like this one better? Oh?
- 25:14Speaker 2: Me too?
- 25:14Speaker 3: And I thought it was nice that her mom was
- 25:17Speaker 3: holding on to it for a time when she needed it, Like,
- 25:21Speaker 3: that's so nice, like to have that kind of forethought.
- 25:23Speaker 3: I don't know if I would be capable of that
- 25:27Speaker 3: forethought if I was dying to be like.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I want you forever, if you move on for me.
- 25:31Speaker 2: I think it's a very selfless thing to be able
- 25:34Speaker 2: to do. Yeah, and while you're sick and thinking of
- 25:36Speaker 2: everything you're leaving behind, right to do that? God, don't, don't.
- 25:40Speaker 2: I can't.
- 25:41Speaker 3: All right, I have one more. I wanted more, which
- 25:45Speaker 3: means I was sad when this movie was over. I
- 25:49Speaker 3: don't know if it lends itself to a sequel, but
- 25:52Speaker 3: I would love one.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Yeah. I loved these women. I could absolutely see them.
- 25:56Speaker 2: And I think we're just getting started with the romantic
- 25:59Speaker 2: reallyationship here. Even though we get the I love you,
- 26:02Speaker 2: there's still it's not going to be a straight path forward.
- 26:06Speaker 3: Right, Julie, I'm gonna email you DM you we want
- 26:11Speaker 3: a sql seql field Day two. I'm trying to come
- 26:14Speaker 3: up with a clever title. I can't think of one
- 26:17Speaker 3: right now. Megan usually knocks them out.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't have a ring.
- 26:20Speaker 3: The book fair, field Day, the book fair. Let's move
- 26:24Speaker 3: on to did just see that?
- 26:26Speaker 2: I only have one? Okay, it's field Day.
- 26:31Speaker 3: They're setting up all the stuff outside. They are all
- 26:34Speaker 3: talking about the impending rain. The sky is sunny. I
- 26:38Speaker 3: didn't see one rain cloud. Yes.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Oh, then the spring books go off, so it doesn't
- 26:43Speaker 2: really matter.
- 26:44Speaker 3: True.
- 26:44Speaker 2: When I was in college, I ran an organization, and
- 26:48Speaker 2: we would have to reserve like outdoor spaces to have events.
- 26:53Speaker 2: And we had three big events and they were in
- 26:55Speaker 2: the spring, and we always would reserve an alternate indoor
- 26:59Speaker 2: like one of the gym in case of rain. And
- 27:01Speaker 2: one year none of the indoor spaces were available, and
- 27:04Speaker 2: so we were like, well, we're just going to cross
- 27:06Speaker 2: our fingers. And the week leading up to our biggest event,
- 27:09Speaker 2: we didn't have an alternative space, and there was rain
- 27:12Speaker 2: in the forecast. And this is in like n eighteen
- 27:15Speaker 2: ninety nine, so I was literally watching the Weather channel day,
- 27:19Speaker 2: every single day, watching the forecast, watching the forecast. It
- 27:22Speaker 2: did not rain. The event went off fine, but that
- 27:25Speaker 2: was the most stressed I ever was. It was in college,
- 27:28Speaker 2: was thinking that the rain was going to ruin this event.
- 27:30Speaker 2: So I get it. Okay, First of all, school starts
- 27:33Speaker 2: and it is immediately freezing cold outside.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Oh I have a did just see that too? Thank
- 27:37Speaker 3: you for reminding me.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yes, go ahead, snowing at one point while they're off
- 27:43Speaker 2: at this adventure course, and they tell us in the
- 27:46Speaker 2: beginning of the movie, like field days in one month.
- 27:48Speaker 2: So even if school started on Labor Day, after Labor Day,
- 27:52Speaker 2: it's still September and it was snowing, which whatever, it
- 27:56Speaker 2: was clearly cold. You could see their breath.
- 27:59Speaker 3: We know where this movie was supposed to take place.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Yes, actually I do remember. It was supposed to be
- 28:05Speaker 2: set in Framingham, Massachusetts. And the reason I know that
- 28:08Speaker 2: is because Julie said so on Twitter.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Well, damn, I'm going to Massachusetts in November. Is there
- 28:14Speaker 3: gonna be like a snowstorm there?
- 28:16Speaker 2: Accordingly to that time in Boston, but in November. But
- 28:20Speaker 2: it would not be like this in Boston in September.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Okay, here's here's a thing. I noticed. They are dropping
- 28:26Speaker 3: the kids off on the first day of school and
- 28:27Speaker 3: there are pumpkin decorations out in front of the school.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Yeah, this school must start in October. We got to
- 28:35Speaker 2: make it a fall movie.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Put some pumpkins out here. Nobody's gonna care about this
- 28:38Speaker 3: first day of school timeline.
- 28:39Speaker 2: That's funny. Yeah, so the water in the dunk tank
- 28:44Speaker 2: must have been a reasing. I didn't.
- 28:48Speaker 3: I had read somewhere there was some commentary in a
- 28:51Speaker 3: Facebook group about.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Someone said maybe it's heated. It didn't look cold.
- 28:55Speaker 3: To me, Like, did you see it's just a great
- 28:57Speaker 3: actor see steam.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Coming off of it, like it it was cold, steam
- 29:01Speaker 2: would come off it if it was warm.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Yeah, if the water was warm and then it was
- 29:04Speaker 3: colder outside, right, yeah, so the water's cold. Oh yeah,
- 29:09Speaker 3: Steam's not coming off my cold pool when it's cold outside.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Steam's coming off the hot jacuzzie when it's cold outside. Okay,
- 29:15Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean he's an actor, he's a professional.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I'm just saying, you're not putting me in a freezing
- 29:21Speaker 2: cold dunk tank when it's cold enough to see my breath.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Well, remember on the way home when they would have
- 29:26Speaker 3: to like jump into that pond or whatever, like.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Paid a lot of money to jump in that cold pond. Too.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I just said too and helped Lendinger. During the indoor
- 29:40Speaker 2: field day, there is a soccer shoot game that they
- 29:44Speaker 2: have going on, and there's a mom in goal and
- 29:47Speaker 2: she's just going for it like big smile, diving for
- 29:51Speaker 2: all the balls. And I was just like, she deserves
- 29:53Speaker 2: a prize, Like she's just really bringing it those kids.
- 29:56Speaker 3: The mom deserves a prize. Yeah, that's that's a good volunteer.
- 30:01Speaker 2: This entire movie has so many great lines, like I
- 30:03Speaker 2: could not possibly write them all down. It's just a
- 30:06Speaker 2: line after line after line. But when Kelly is asking
- 30:13Speaker 2: for something and she goes, oh, I thought we could
- 30:14Speaker 2: just barter for exposure.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Oh, she was asking Jen she wanted gen the website.
- 30:20Speaker 2: The website, that's right. Yeah, I alo like, I'm pretty expensive,
- 30:25Speaker 2: and she's like, oh, I thought we could just barter
- 30:26Speaker 2: for exposure. And that's what hilarious disposure with your tips.
- 30:33Speaker 2: If you don't follow Julie Sherman Wolf on Twitter, you
- 30:36Speaker 2: should because during the premieres of all of her movies,
- 30:38Speaker 2: especially now the writer strike is over, she life tweets
- 30:42Speaker 2: them with like behind the scene tidbits, and she notoriously
- 30:45Speaker 2: hates word signs. She makes fun of them twice during
- 30:47Speaker 2: this movie, and she posted a picture of the one
- 30:50Speaker 2: word sign she has in her house, which is a
- 30:52Speaker 2: wooden sign with a script font that reads inspirational family
- 30:55Speaker 2: motto in a whimsical font.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Oh that's funny. So as I I like, look around
- 31:00Speaker 3: your house, do you have any word signs?
- 31:02Speaker 2: I don't think so Gather, Live, laugh, Love.
- 31:06Speaker 3: I feel guilty I put those out during the holiday season.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I have probably some holiday related ones. What did you
- 31:13Speaker 2: rate Field Day four point seven?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Fight?
- 31:15Speaker 2: Actually, what I wrote Thank you for listening to this
- 31:18Speaker 2: episode of Girls Gone Hallmark. This was the final episode
- 31:22Speaker 2: in Hallmark's Fall lineup, and count under Christmas starts tomorrow Friday,
- 31:26Speaker 2: October twentieth. We're not quite done with Fall around here, though.
- 31:29Speaker 2: We do still have two fan favorite Fall movies dropping
- 31:33Speaker 2: over the next two weeks, so make sure you come
- 31:35Speaker 2: back for that. But we will be starting our count
- 31:37Speaker 2: down to Christmas reviews next week as well, so talk
- 31:39Speaker 2: about Whiplash, y'all. We'll see you next time. Bye.
