- 0:00Track Cast, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. So coming at you
- 0:22from Idaho, New York and live. I'm from the Grand Rapid Comic Con
- 0:27Springs Play in the Count Trek Book Center in count Michigan. This is Trek
- 0:33Cast, Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Today we're gonna be doing talking
- 0:39about episode three of season five of Star Trek What is It Discovery. We've
- 0:45also got Star Trek News your listener feedback. I'm Scott and with me are
- 0:52the Heart and the Soul of Trek Cast, Daniel Reyes and Dan Lombardo.
- 0:58The heart of the Soul, I'm never gonna say that way. I'm not
- 1:03looking, you know, like a favorites. I can't dance, so I'm
- 1:07definitely not the soul. Okay, I keep that in mind. You're gonna
- 1:14leave that up to Daniel. Then by default, by default on the heart,
- 1:18and by default you're the soul. Sorry, I'm distracted by There's a
- 1:21dog, a really cute dog outside that's like rolling around the grass. He's
- 1:26absolutely fine, he's enjoying life. So in fact, I'm gonna show you
- 1:30he's he's right out there just enjoying life. There is hey puppy there he
- 1:38is. Yeah, he's coming out. Oh yeah, I'm sure the cod
- 1:45would love that. So I've got my I got this signed by Nanah visitor.
- 1:55It's pronounced uh Nana like Mama Nana, which he has a Instagram Yeah
- 2:02that I follow. So it's kind of cool. So so you got to
- 2:07meet her? I did. I did. Lovely lady. We we talked
- 2:12a little bit. I told her that I did a podcast. I said
- 2:15that I co hosted, and uh, we have a really great team and
- 2:19we always talk fondly about her and all a bunch of other bs, and
- 2:23uh no, she was she was great, she was lovely. Uh.
- 2:27We went to take a picture and I do that thing when I'm around members
- 2:30of the oppoice sex and we take a photo together or whatever. I always
- 2:34sort of put my hands sort of in front of me so I'm not intruding
- 2:38on their space. And she came up to me and she's like, to
- 2:43do it, do it, do a selfie and she goes she kind of
- 2:46looks at me and she goes as, all right, I put on my
- 2:47arm around you, and I'm like, yeah, if it's okay, if
- 2:49I put my arm around you. So she was just a delight. So
- 2:53I, uh so it was mirror. It was uh, it was mirror,
- 3:01the non visitor, the hyperspical. I tell you, that's really what
- 3:07I'm telling you. Yeah. Nice, that's awesome, man. Yeah,
- 3:14yeah, good times. I also chatted with the guys from the USS Grand
- 3:20Pataski. Uh. They are a member of the Star Trek International Fan Club,
- 3:25so I I told them I'd give them a shout out and definitely go
- 3:30check them out s t I dot org. And if you're in the Grand
- 3:36Rapids or Southwest Michigan area, look up the USS Grand Potoski. They've got
- 3:39a cool starship. Theirs is the refit of the Galaxy class, so it's
- 3:45got the third Nacel and the Weapon o Mass Destruction on it. So yeah,
- 3:52very cool. People ran into the Kalamazoo Ghostbusters. Again, very cool
- 3:58guys. They actually went to a buddy of mine, Eric owns a small
- 4:01movie theater in the town next to mine, and they played Ghostbusters Friday night,
- 4:06and the Kalmsu Ghostbusters showed up to that and had a little little thing,
- 4:11So yeah, very cool. A lot of stuff going on here.
- 4:14It's it's a basically mini version of the one I went to uh in Grand
- 4:18Grand Raptions. Grand rap is actual. So so the story behind that,
- 4:24real quick is the reason why it's the Grand Rapids Comic Con in Kalamazoo Is.
- 4:28A few years ago they were doing it at a what's called the Delta
- 4:31Plex, and Grand Rapids they tore the Delta Plex down and they went moved
- 4:34to the Devas Place. Well, the Devas Place wasn't ready for their comic
- 4:38con at that time because they were still sort of revamping, and the Kalams
- 4:43Expo Center and Kalamazoo said we've got a facility you can use tim you know,
- 4:46just this year, and they did that I think three years ago,
- 4:48and it was such a success that they said, you know what, We're
- 4:50gonna do a satellite comic con every year in Kalamazoo. So it's kind of
- 4:58like how the the New York Giants playing New Jersey. That's exactly that.
- 5:02In fact, I couldn't think of a more perfect analogy. What Star Trek
- 5:08celebrity did you meet today? What Star Trek celebrity did I meet today?
- 5:15Well, because Scott did so clearly, we all had to oh yeah,
- 5:17come on, step step up your game. Man. Yeah. Wow getting
- 5:23called out on the show, wow, nobody, Yeah, I got nothing,
- 5:32boy, Well I'll start. I'll stop talking now before Dan calls me
- 5:39out and trying to take the show over. Just named Robin. I also
- 5:44met a script supervisor for Next Generation. He's Face nine and Voyager on Friday.
- 5:47But you know, no big start Trek. Oh yeah, I's heard.
- 5:53You know, Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes. We're just buy for T
- 5:58and scones for breakfasts. But they left right before the show. No,
- 6:03biggie one. One more quick story I want to share. I said that
- 6:09I had this, I had her sign it. Armand Shimmerman signed this for
- 6:14a friend of mine back in the late nineties and my friend Aaron, she
- 6:17gave this signed photo to me and she's I asked her, Hey, do
- 6:21you mind if I have you know, Nanav sign it. She's like absolutely,
- 6:27And so I showed it to MS A visitor and I told her,
- 6:30I said, you know, she said that she said that one's a fake.
- 6:34Yeah she did. Yeah, she called it out like I can't authenticate
- 6:38that. She goes, you know, you need to keep this going.
- 6:40You need to have everybody sign it. I said, yeah, I know,
- 6:42and I said, you know, it's kind of sad that I'll never
- 6:44be able to get Renee to sign it. And she goes, yes,
- 6:46that was that was a very sad time. She goes, and you're also
- 6:50not going to be able to get Avery to sign it. And I said,
- 6:54oh yeah, and she said, yeah, he doesn't, he's not.
- 6:58She was she was searching for the word yeah, And I know she
- 7:01probably wanted to say, you know, crazy, yeah, but he doesn't.
- 7:09He doesn't make coublic experiences. He's he's residing in the celestial temple full
- 7:13time. Yes, yep. Not to make light of whatever's going. I
- 7:19saw him about fifteen years ago and he was quickly moving in that direction.
- 7:26So I mean, if you watch the if you watch the documentary where he's
- 7:30sitting at the piano with uh with William Shatner, Yes, moving in that
- 7:35direction. Yeah, a waiting game. Wants to notice if you brooks at
- 7:39ten, I don't think so. I don't know. He does not.
- 7:43He does not. Yeah, that would be a big deal if he did.
- 7:46But no, oh yeah, yeah, all right, Dan, that
- 7:49was your week, my week? Yeah, it was. It was Okay,
- 8:00without saying too much, there was some there was some crop rotation at
- 8:03works, and people were moved around to different different positions, and uh I
- 8:09wasn't moved. But you know, I continue to supervise the unit that I
- 8:16supervised last week, except I now supervised someone else's units. Well, so
- 8:22basically overnight doing a little consolidating. Huh yes, overnight, my my my
- 8:28responsibility pretty much doubled. My My pay and benefits did not double with it,
- 8:35right of course not. And uh yeah, so twice the work,
- 8:43twice the stress, same old amount of pay. It's kind of like when
- 8:48I went from guest host to full time Host's right, it's exactly it's exactly
- 8:54like that. Yeah, it's such an apt anology, right. Indeed,
- 9:00that's that's two. That's two analogies today they're just right on the head,
- 9:03ye, right on the dose. Yeah. Yeah, how about you,
- 9:07Daniel. Oh, I had to fix the website for those of you even
- 9:11noticed, and went down for like a full day. Yeah yeah, it
- 9:16was just some technical staff, but we finally got it up and running.
- 9:20So that's good. Oh A Wolf wants to know, Scott, are you
- 9:24still at the con and if so, any other panels you plan on scene
- 9:28today. Yes, it's a good question. I will be going to uh
- 9:33no visitors panel at twelve forty five Eastern time, so I'm looking forward to
- 9:39that panel. I will be a visitor at visitors panel. Are you gonna
- 9:41ask any questions? What's that? You can ask her any questions I'm going
- 9:46to ask her. The I'm going to ask her what I've decided is going
- 9:48to be the new a trek Cast question, which is the same question that
- 9:56I asked last time. Terry Farrell is a hot dog of sandwich, and
- 10:00I'm going to ask about Well, last time I asked a year ago,
- 10:03I asked Terry Farrell and Jeffrey Combs, you know the question that you had
- 10:07suggested Daniel, which was had anybody ever you know, put on like a
- 10:11dinner party or potlock or whatever, and who was the best cook? And
- 10:13in that the answer to that question, Nana's name came up, right.
- 10:18And so I'm going to mention that when I go up and ask a question,
- 10:24what you mean? Yes, yes, that's a good idea. So
- 10:28the see the problem with that is that's a normal question, and you can't
- 10:31ask a normal question. No, a normal question. I'm sure she's been
- 10:35asked a thousand times. You know, what's it like working with Avery Brooks?
- 10:39And this is Daniel Came was the one who who you know, sort
- 10:43of gave me this idea about not asking a question that's you know, what's
- 10:46it like to work with Avery Brooks? And you know, in season two,
- 10:50episode four, the Quantum Singularity with you know, don't Yeah, everybody
- 10:54can ask that, Yeah, what did they do? Right? Exactly?
- 11:00So yeah, I think I think a perennial question can be you know about
- 11:05food? Okay? Cool? So oh, Darrell says, what do you
- 11:09guys think the weird stuff Star Trek actors have had to sign? Oh?
- 11:13Man, I imagine all sorts of different things. Wow, that I should
- 11:20like, I've seen people like they'll get their arms signed and then go get
- 11:24that tattooed. Yeah, that's it. That's yeah, that's that's weird.
- 11:28Well, if I ever see you guys again in person, when have you
- 11:31signed signed my bicep and immediately go get it tattooed, I'm gonna do.
- 11:37I'm gonna do like fingerpaint on my hand and I'll put it like a like
- 11:41a pop print right there on there that's great. Yeah, I'm gonna sign
- 11:45my name like I'm a four year old like backwards. Yes, that's great,
- 11:54right, track cast underneath, but I'm gonna write it like track track
- 11:58track cast. Nice. That's good. Well, we're already quite a few
- 12:05INDs, so we should probably get to the news. It Star Trek News
- 12:11all right. So our first news story comes to us from Piety and we
- 12:16got some good news and we got some bad news. It's been making the
- 12:20buzz all around the internet. The world has been picked up for a fourth
- 12:26season, but sadly, Lower Decks will conclude with season five. Boom.
- 12:33Yeah. Yeah. I have seen some debate as to whether this means just
- 12:41Lower Decks is just over and they're just done, or were they canceled?
- 12:46And the reality is we were canceled. So I had a conversation with the
- 12:52guys at the Star Trek booth just a little while ago about that, and
- 12:56things are different now than they were before. You know, you you're just
- 13:00not going to get one hundred and seventy nine episodes. You're not going to
- 13:03get uh seven seasons in the world is streaming. It's do your thing and
- 13:09move on. So yeah, you know the other hand, On the other
- 13:13hand, the Simpsons is in like season thirty seven or Grandfather Yeah yeah,
- 13:20and Grandfather Family Family Guy is in season twenty five or right, But what's
- 13:26the difference between all three of those and New Start Drag They're they're not.
- 13:31I mean, they're both streaming and on terrestrial television. I know this.
- 13:37I know like once a show hits a certain length, I think it's three
- 13:39years, there's certain things that kicked in because of the guild that. Yeah,
- 13:45the you know, people start making more money, and then the longer
- 13:48it goes, the more things kick in. Right. Yeah, that's why
- 13:52Disney changed in Nickelodeon. They changed the name of the show after three or
- 13:56four. Yeah. I was gonna say, it's same thing with the what
- 13:58was that bosh? I guess it's an Amazon Prime show rechanging the name of
- 14:05the show for that same reason because then technically it's a new show. Okay,
- 14:11So can we get middle decks? Why not? As as they get
- 14:16promoted, it makes kind of yeah, they get promoted. I've heard that.
- 14:18I've heard that theory. Let's just do middle decks or you know they
- 14:22yeah, yeah, something like that. But yeah, uh, we did
- 14:26get a We did get a a comment from Jack Quaid on his social media
- 14:31on his Instagram saying that you know, he would love to play Boimler for
- 14:35seventeen years plus. He loves the character, he loves being part of Star
- 14:39Trek. They are hoping to find a new home, so they're going to
- 14:43try, but you know that's not a guarantee. So they need to do
- 14:48a live action crossover again with the twenty fifth century, and I just I
- 14:56need an episode of him in Barkley to oh, yeah, I don't care
- 15:01what they're doing. Yeah, I don't care. I don't care what they
- 15:05They could be helping Barkley's mom move into a new apartment. I don't care.
- 15:09Yes, you know, I need to see that. Or he's like,
- 15:11oh, great uncle Barkley, so good to see you. It's funny,
- 15:16Like I looked at at some of the official Star Trek accounts that we're
- 15:18announcing this change, and almost universally it was that's cool. Uh, look,
- 15:24Stranger World is continuing, but give us our lower decks, so we
- 15:28love lower decks. It can't it cannot cost that much that this is an
- 15:31issue. Like, so you know what, I you know what I find
- 15:35interesting how many seasons of Lower Decks? Yeah, how many seasons of Discovery?
- 15:46Five? Interesting? That's a new normal. Interesting? Does that mean
- 15:52Engine World only gets five and then we're done? No? No, I
- 15:56think Lower Decks. Lower Decks is a sleeper hit, uh, which doesn't
- 16:07cost anything to produce. Uh. Discovery is super expensive and only half well
- 16:15received, and they went the same amount of time because Uh, people wanted
- 16:22Discovery to succeed. It's not as popular as they want. They want us
- 16:32to believe it. Yeah, yeah, it's not. Yeah. But yeah,
- 16:37So that's that's what's going on with with Lower Decks. Also, that
- 16:41was announced this week. We are stop me if you heard this before.
- 16:45We're getting a new Star Trek movie and it's going to be different this time.
- 16:52It's going to be a film generation orally, I don't know. Whatever
- 16:57it's said to be. Can place decades before the two thousand and nine film.
- 17:03I believe this was a show we already had called Enterprise. Yeah,
- 17:07a prequel show to the original series era. Yeah. Interesting. Now,
- 17:12now if they throw a curveball and we get a Star Trek Enterprise movie that
- 17:22ties up those loose ends, I'd be down with that. But they'll never
- 17:29do it because I don't think we want it. I don't, I don't,
- 17:30Yeah, exactly, I don't think that's what we're going to got.
- 17:34The film will be directed by Toby Hayes, who Aines who had directed some
- 17:40episodes of and Or, and then the script will be written by Seth Graham
- 17:44Smith. So there you go. I'm sure this will change five different times
- 17:48before anything happened with Scott Backeller doing right now, he's not doing NCI.
- 17:52I've seen him doing stuff with horses, like just pet and horses and hanging
- 17:56out. Okay, so you know how old was he during Enterprise? How
- 18:03old is he now? Let's set the series that many years after Enterprise.
- 18:07At least have him be part of the story as an admiral showed some of
- 18:11those NX one refit type ships, because that's what would make sense. That's
- 18:18what we want, and that's probably why they're not going to do it.
- 18:22Yeah, A waiting game wants to know are they retcunnying Enterprise or with this
- 18:26feature Captain Archer, We don't know. We honestly do not know. I
- 18:30imagine it's going to be a retcon and not even the Enterprise crew it'll just
- 18:36wipe Enterprise away and it'll be its own thing. Well, they can't use
- 18:38the excuse of the Kelvin timeline because it takes place before the Calvin timeline,
- 18:41right right, that's the other problem. So yeah, Enterprise was the only
- 18:47show that was in both timelines. So yeah, all right, and then
- 18:52our next new story comes from from PC gamer. For those of you who
- 18:56are big Dungeons and Dragons fans, you're luck. Captain Riker is going to
- 19:02be hanging out and playing some D and D later this week on Twitch.
- 19:06I believe it's on Wednesday, it says here in the article. Yeah,
- 19:11oh, Saturday, Saturday, next Saturday, April twentieth him. He will
- 19:15be playing D and D with some start Trek actors, including Captain Liam Shaw
- 19:22will be there as well Dodd Stadgwick. No, yeah, fans here at
- 19:30the Comic Gun, I imagine. So you know, I've only played like
- 19:36twice and yeah, it's fine. In fact, I think there's a bit
- 19:40in the game room. There's a game going on now. Oh really yeah,
- 19:44well yeah, so that'll be live on Twitch. It's it's a charity
- 19:47fundraiser, so that'll be cool to kind of watch them, okay, yeah,
- 19:52and then our last news story comes to us from Space News and we
- 19:57finally have an answer to the age old debate, which is better Star Trek
- 20:02or Star Wars took place at the thirty ninth spaces Ponium. It was judged
- 20:07by former NASA administrator Jim Beiderstein Bredenstein. We had two teams, Team Star
- 20:15Trek and Team Star Wars. The argument was which was better Star Trek's you
- 20:21know, hopeful depictions of the future or Star Wars. There is Star Wars
- 20:26capturing the hero's struggle, and after some rounds of debates, it was deemed
- 20:33that Star Wars was better. Well, I guess you know, we're they're
- 20:40wrong, but that's fine, right, Yeah, absolutely, you know what
- 20:45they say. Opinions are like, hey, holes, everybody's got one.
- 20:51I will say this, most of them think in the story, they put
- 20:56it up on x or whatever, and Star Trek is winning the poll there.
- 21:02So people say that Structurek is better than Star Wars over on social media.
- 21:07So yeah, I'm kind of just tired of that debate me too.
- 21:12They're not the same thing, They're not even similar. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:18well, I hate to quote Alex Kurtzman. But he's the one that said,
- 21:22you know, when they were making the JJ movies, he said,
- 21:27you know, Star Wars was like rock and roll and Star Trek was like
- 21:30classical music. You know which is better that you don't compare rock and roll
- 21:34classical music? Right, yeah, they're both music music. Yeah, absolutely,
- 21:44But yeah, so that's the news stories, all right. Cool,
- 21:48Well then let's get into the main topic. Fun will now comment. So
- 21:59our main topic is we're going to review the third episode of Star Trek Discovery
- 22:04season five. H what was it called, Scott, I know you you
- 22:10had some title. I had to think about what it was about for a
- 22:19while. I'm like, oh, yeah, it's the Trill episode. Oh
- 22:22j Janal Janel. Yeah. I had a little kuffle on my uh on
- 22:29my quick reaction where I said Janel was the name of the ritual in which
- 22:33the former Trill host can interact with the Neutril host via a uh second another
- 22:38person, Well, I was corrected and they said no, Jannal jal or
- 22:48however he pronounced it. He he actually spelt it wrong. The person who
- 22:51corrected me and we had a fun little interaction. He's this is ee,
- 22:56that's right, that's right, touched heads and then they were able to communicate
- 23:02with one of the Trills lives. Yeah, Janeal not Jindall, but Janell
- 23:07is actually the name of the former post. Yeah. Yeah. And so,
- 23:14according to the official log line on Trill, Captain Burnham, Book and
- 23:18Culbert must pass a dangerous test to prove themselves worthy of the next clue.
- 23:23The Deira reconnects with Gray and Crew's first day as an ambassador, just complicated
- 23:29by his engagement to writ Saru uh Saru slept on the couch last night lighted.
- 23:45Here's my review it with crap. Yeah. I mentioned in my quick
- 23:51reaction that I felt like this is the closest thing to a filler episode that
- 23:55we've gotten so far. And yeah, yeah, So I think we started
- 24:00something last year, just on the fly. We started this thing. Say,
- 24:07you know, say one good thing about the episode, and I and
- 24:11I think we should start doing that. Okay, let's do that because because
- 24:15overwhelmingly, you know, not enjoying this, but I can still pick out
- 24:25things to be positive about and I'm just going to do mine right now.
- 24:32Uh. Wilson Cruz's acting ability in this episode. I believed he was a
- 24:38different person watching watching hip. Yeah, so kudos kudos to him. Yeah,
- 24:48he's a great actor. Yeah yeah, yeah. They actually mentioned that
- 24:52on the Will Eaton Show. Oh yeah, I oh sorry, that's kind
- 24:56of I didn't mean to step on your fine to watch it, watch it
- 25:02go ahead. Yeah. Wilson Cruz was on, and he talked about the
- 25:07challenges of you know, he wanted to play it differently than than than Doctor
- 25:12Culbert, so you know, different voice. But it wasn't just a different
- 25:15voice. He had a different swagger, he had a you know, the
- 25:19attitude was different. But yeah, absolutely his acting ability was on point in
- 25:25this episode. Yeah, absolutely, So I said my one positive thing the
- 25:30next thirty four minutes or for you guys, go ahead. I liked the
- 25:34consistency. They obviously watched a couple of Deep Space nine episodes before writing this
- 25:40one, so you know, I like the the symbiots, the symbiotes and
- 25:45the ritual and that kind of thing. Although the ritual wasn't designed for what
- 25:55they did. The ritual was designed as a way for the a new host
- 26:00to sort of say goodbye in person to the old hosts. So but I
- 26:04understand that they you know, they could use this ritual to you know,
- 26:08talk to that host and get some information from that host. Although why you
- 26:12couldn't just talk to the new host m you know, is that your is
- 26:22that your thing that you liked them? Yeah, that that's veiled cop of
- 26:26it. Yeah. Yeah, let's see for me. Oh, go back
- 26:33a couple of pictures. Yeah, I guess one big positive unless you were
- 26:37going to talk about Tilley. Oh no, no, Yeah. I loved
- 26:41her interaction with with commander uh jackass uh apparently who apparently is a commander.
- 26:48I I was wrong, I was wrong. I thought he was being uh
- 26:55a first officer with the captain, just like Saru. But apparently he got
- 26:59demoted. He got demoted. And I love Tillie's uh, you know,
- 27:03kind of standing up for the crew and you know, kind of telling them
- 27:07off a little bit. Yeah, which is you know, that's that's risky
- 27:11for a lieutenant. It's true, that's true. But she's also a lieutenant
- 27:15who is a visitor on the ship right now. She is not a regular
- 27:21member of the crew, so she is outside of his direct chain of command.
- 27:23So yeah, you know, I'm not saying it couldn't have ramifications for
- 27:27her later on, but you know, it's not her boss's working somewhere else
- 27:33this week. Then then she goes back to academy. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 27:40and she goes back to a show nobody asked for that's right. Oh
- 27:44my god, and comments about that, Oh my god. Yeah. See
- 27:49for me, you know, I I did like the dynamic with with Ciru
- 27:55and and his fiance. I thought that was hilarious. The political going on
- 28:00there. That yea. That apparently there is a group of Vulcans who are
- 28:04the Bulkan Purists, and they are not happy that she is with somebody who
- 28:11is not a Vulcan and so that their relationship could affect them politically for her,
- 28:18and I think they need to review their Bulcan eat it. Yeah,
- 28:21exactly right. Yeah, infinite diversity and infinite combinations indeed indeed. But uh
- 28:30yeah, that whole dynamic was pretty fun. I also did, like,
- 28:33I'll give a second bonus. I like the snake dude just chilling there.
- 28:38A group commander or whatever he was, he commander. We've seen him before,
- 28:45they've been on they were in early episodes of TNG. If I'm not
- 28:48mistaken, because I'm pretty sure I have a an action figure of one of
- 28:56those guys. Yeah, you do. I just like that they're that they're
- 29:00doing basically an Indiana Jones plotline, and they brought in a snake, which
- 29:07would not be you know, Indy would not be happy, but yeah,
- 29:11I thought that was. Indy would also be the first one to say,
- 29:15we have personal transporters. Why aren't we just beaming over there? Why are
- 29:18we walking? Where are we walking through this canyon? Yeah? Well they
- 29:23did say that. He just wouldn't give him the coordinates. Okay, but
- 29:30even though okay, so we're walking in that direction. Yeah, that general,
- 29:34let's just let's just beam one hundred yards in that direction, right,
- 29:38instead of taking all day for this, right. I don't know, Oh
- 29:49my god, Jakes, why did it have to be snakes? So we
- 29:56had a I don't know if he was the bar to under he was pouring
- 30:00a drink. He was also wearing a star Fleet uniform. But we but
- 30:04we saw Ferengi Ah pouring a drink of what looked like Slugo cola. So
- 30:12so it didn't just look like slug cola. I paused it and it was
- 30:17cola. So it's nice to see that that you know, whether whether it's
- 30:23Pepsi, Coca cola, McDonald's whatever they're going to survive into the thirty second
- 30:30century, those those trademarked products. Yeah, that was that was a fun
- 30:36callback. So do you think it's one of those things where because you know
- 30:42the way they describe slugo colas like slimy, you know, slug juice.
- 30:49Do you think it was there because this was a Ferengi drinking it? Or
- 30:56do you think slugo cola in the thirty second century is like sushi is now?
- 31:04Where fifty years ago if you told an American about sushi, they would
- 31:10recoil, But now it's kind of an accepted thing that most people have tried.
- 31:18So do you think there's there's earth, there's terrans walking around drinking slugging
- 31:25one back, slugging back a slug o cola? Okay, let me answer
- 31:29first. Can I get a Can I get a jacket slugo please? I
- 31:33think the answer is no. I think it's one or two warning warning NERD
- 31:37alert, NERD alert? How does that get a NERD alert? He talk
- 31:44about the logo cola come out. I think that you know, here and
- 31:51now in our reality we have romulan ale beer is it romulin ale, No,
- 31:57it's not. It's beer. It's been modified to you know, so
- 32:01that humans can consume it. Same thing with it. You can buy cleingon
- 32:05blood wine online. But it's probably not fermented, you know, the fermented
- 32:10blood of you know, targ If your enemy is a nap of valley grape,
- 32:21then yeah, I suppose that's true. So I think it's a verse.
- 32:23I think it's like a slugo I mean can't. Yeah, I think
- 32:28it's like a humanized version of it. M probably probably maybe it's both.
- 32:34Maybe they got both. Maybe they got slug cola, they've got Slugo cola,
- 32:37the you know, the original. I was gonna say, maybe it's
- 32:42like roop beer. You know, first you hate it, but then you
- 32:43see keep drinking it, and the more you drink it. Yeah, it's
- 32:49just one of those things. I wouldn't be surprised if the Frankie put some
- 32:52sort of addictive chemicals into it. Of course, now you just have to
- 32:55have your slug Slugo colon now, which fentanyl, that's right, original Cocaineley's
- 33:06to u slug Yeah, yeah, So what's going on with these two?
- 33:12They broke up. They broke up. Why because they having him together wouldn't
- 33:20further either one of their stories. Uh, because it's the fifth season some
- 33:24why not it's gonna end as well. I don't think a lot of people
- 33:30are digging the Trills character. And you know, he doesn't need to be
- 33:37part of the story. He's doing his thing on on Trill. Well,
- 33:42they basically have written him out already, so might as well, yeah,
- 33:45break him up? And uh yeah yeah, and I can't remember what what's
- 33:52their name? The short haired de Yeah, I think a deer's character is
- 33:58a little more I don't know when when you have two characters, ones like
- 34:02confident and kind of sure of themselves and the other ones a little you know
- 34:07not. I think the one that's not is a little more interesting to tell
- 34:10a story about. You know, this this show just not to keep dumping
- 34:17on Discovery, but it just it does not h It doesn't keep my attention
- 34:24like at all. I just rewatched this series over the last few weeks,
- 34:30and I'm watching this the other night and I had to think, for a
- 34:32minute, wait, which one of them has the slug in their belly at
- 34:37this point? You know, like I had forgotten that it didn't bounce it
- 34:42around a little bit. Well it bounced around, and then I'm like,
- 34:45oh yeah, no, no, no, Gray is a robot, right,
- 34:46yeah, great, all of that. Yeah, I just watched that
- 34:52would Yeah, all of it's just gone. So can we cash in the
- 35:00second half of the season and get like another half a season of Lower Decks?
- 35:07Can we get credit? Can we get a store credit? Sir,
- 35:12I'd vote pick something out later. Just give me a store credit. Cool.
- 35:19Paul just doesn't even watch anymore. I don't even get the torrents.
- 35:24Dude. There were people in our people watch it for free. There were
- 35:30so many people who said they were going to cancel their paramount subscriptions just because
- 35:35Lower Decks is going away. Yeah, it's crazy. You we'll see if
- 35:40people really do it, you know, you know what, you know,
- 35:43it's funny. I kind of like this idea of following up on this storyline
- 35:52with the uh what do we call them? The progenitors? Oh? Yeah,
- 35:59and y. But here's the worst part. It doesn't have to be
- 36:02eight hundred years later to do this story. They could do this story in
- 36:07the twenty fifth century. They could do it thirty five years later, and
- 36:12the story would be exactly the same, except it would be in an era
- 36:16that everyone wants to see continued. It would have characters who were part of
- 36:22the original story because they're still around, right, it just seems like another
- 36:28misstep. No, you're absolutely right. So my question was, though this
- 36:36Progenitor's device, but they think it is. How is it different from the
- 36:39Genesis device. Didn't they touch on that a little bit in the episode where
- 36:46they said, you know, it's got a great power to create and would
- 36:50also have a great power to destroy. That's why it can't end up in
- 36:52the wrong hand. Yeah, so yeah, maybe it is. Maybe they're
- 37:00seed spreading thing. Was kind of like, continue, tell us about the
- 37:07seed spreading things. Yes, what are you doing at This seed spreading Riker
- 37:13device is just as dangerous as a Genesis device. That's right. They call
- 37:19it the Riker maneuver. Oh lord, we've lost Scott. He's broken.
- 37:30He's still all read just like a it's like a long ear sprinkler just going
- 37:37all around Daryl Jenesis device plus the Genesis plus now with Riker's seed spreading technology.
- 37:52God, there's gonna be another Thomas, another will Yeah, a lot
- 37:59of people in a whole civilization uh, change in their ways on how to
- 38:02mount to chairdeed, indeed, no, But that was just my question about
- 38:07it, like, how is it different, Like we've already had this technology
- 38:10or something close. It doesn't seem like it's different. Yeah, do you
- 38:15think they'll even mention the difference or not matter? It seems to me that
- 38:21some of these writers haven't seen previous versions of Star Trek. So, I
- 38:25mean, but they brought up the Genesis device and the card in the in
- 38:31that Easter egg, it was there was like a miniature version of it,
- 38:35yep son, And some of these are the same writers. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:42so I guess it just depends on if they were sober or not.
- 38:45Right, right, So don't drink and write people? Or do or do
- 38:52drinking? Right? Yeah? What are the two? Yeah? Indeed?
- 39:00But yeah, So we got another episode next week. I don't have it
- 39:02to tell you what the title will be, but we're on our way to
- 39:07another clue, you know, National Treasury continues in space. So maybe I'm
- 39:16just lost. What are these clues that they're looking for? Why are they
- 39:20gallivanting around looking for these what are the things? There's like five things that
- 39:24that have to fit together. Well, what are they? Yeah, from
- 39:30what I understand, it's like a map. They need all the parts of
- 39:32the map, just like in Star Wars that the yeah, the Rise of
- 39:38Skywalker. She's like that map. You know, it's gonna suck where they
- 39:43find, Like the last episode, they find the fifth piece. They put
- 39:45it together and it reprogrammed somebody's tricorder to emit a holographic message, and it's
- 39:50just like Part two. Yeah, the female female message said, oh you
- 39:54found Part two. Well, I just wanted to This is a recipe for
- 39:58biscuits. Actually it's the same, it's the same recording. Yeah, just
- 40:06again, I wonder, I wonder if to bring back that actress. I
- 40:10know she's in her eighties right now, but and they have shown holographic footage
- 40:15of her. But you know, you know what always disappointed me is that
- 40:22that actress, that actress her name is, uh, I think it's that
- 40:29actress. Her name is I think it's pronounced Salome Gens. And she is
- 40:35the same actress that played the female changeling on Deep Space nine. And they
- 40:39look pretty much the same. So and even watching Deep Space nine, Yeah,
- 40:49watching Deep Space nine, uh, you know I made that connection and
- 40:52thought to myself. You know, are the Founders the progenitors or did the
- 40:59progenitors all also make the founders? Was that the first species they created and
- 41:05that's why they look like that, like they evolved into the Founders. Well,
- 41:09the Founders did say they originally were solids, right, Maybe there's something
- 41:15there. And Chasmins says that that actress has died. I thought I checked
- 41:22recently and I didn't think she was dead. But I checked IMDb, which
- 41:24is not always super accurate, but that kind of stuff or updated quickly.
- 41:28Yeah, I'm going to look it up right now. I I don't know
- 41:37what that device is that they're trying to build, Like I think it's a
- 41:39map. Maybe it's a key, like you build the map and then but
- 41:44what's the end game? What's the end device? It seems like they're looking
- 41:45for the like you said before, the Genesis devices. It seems like they're
- 41:50trying to find a progenitor organic version of the Genesis device. I can't think
- 41:55of anything else it would be. I'll show you what it's going to be
- 41:58at the end. Yeah, go ahead. She's eighty eight years old and
- 42:01she is still with us. Okay, okay, uh because of how subtle
- 42:07they were with with we need to all be together and be friends. That's
- 42:12what it's going to be. At the very end, they're gonna make friends
- 42:14with the Body and Clyde group. They're gonna work together to find the the
- 42:19Progenitor's device, and the magic will be friendship. Okay, all right?
- 42:27That that that's the one thing that can terror form an enemy into a friend
- 42:30and and destroy arguments and bring people together. That's that should be our Christmas
- 42:37card, right there is our face superposed that the power of friendship, the
- 42:42power power friendship. Okay, with their powers combined, with their powers combined,
- 42:47Yeah, they are Captain Progenitor, that's right. And then and then
- 42:51we'll have a pot luck and we'll get Don Forrino come out and he'll say
- 42:54it's all about family, and they'll drive off in their and their eclipses and
- 43:00yeah, it'll be great. Okay. How about Uh? One thing I
- 43:05want to touch on too, is they mentioned in the episode that the the
- 43:09worms only live eight hundred years. Yeah, so you know what that means.
- 43:17I thought they'd be pretty mtal right, that is dead. Yeah,
- 43:24I thought it was. It was the symbi. It has to go to
- 43:29a new host within like a short window, and if they don't, then
- 43:34the symbian can die. Right, But I guess there's nothing to say that
- 43:37the symbion, which is a is an organic being just like you know,
- 43:43they also have a life span. They're you know, right, and they
- 43:45and they also need to reproduce. So when does that happen? Do they
- 43:51go do they go back in the pond between home? I hope so to
- 43:54do a little because the alternative is gross. Put two. I mean,
- 44:01they either do it in the pond or they do it in the host.
- 44:06Mm hmmm mm hmm, like the host has two symbios for a little while.
- 44:10Because it'd be best not to dwell on such thoughts, Dan, let's
- 44:15let's some things are better left to the imagination, all right. All I'm
- 44:22saying is they got to spread their seat as well. So yeah, I
- 44:28mean you're at like a dinner party out of affet and all of a sudden,
- 44:30you know, your stomach just goes and you're like, oh, it's
- 44:34mating season, my twin symbiots. I'm drinking all this slugo because you know,
- 44:43For three, I do like that they made the spots, you know,
- 44:49like like fingerprints, like all different that that's an interesting development. That's
- 44:53so while we're while we're dwelling on uh weird and uncomfortable to imagine and trill
- 45:00thing. Yes, so I'm sure the first trill joining did not occur uh
- 45:08via C section right. I was just thinking about that. So what's the
- 45:14point of entry for a natural? Well, why don't you count with me
- 45:19all the possibilities dank, I'll I'll put my finger up when you name one,
- 45:25and let's see if we get to about six or seven. I think
- 45:29uh, I think everybody picked up what I put down. I think you
- 45:31need much like much like a romulent home, the real entrances in the back
- 45:37back, that's what it is. A wolf wants to know. Janet Reno
- 45:45or Jet Reno ever got her her chips during her interview. I hope later
- 45:52on she did. Yeah, I hope. So the best part of the
- 45:55show so be able to get whatever the hell she wants. I would love
- 46:00to show where she's the captain just giving alien absolutely yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 46:09Darrell says it's a bass huger. That's maybe. Do you see that?
- 46:15Uh? That that fan theory that the the Paul Race were the Mirror
- 46:21Universe prophets. Mm hmm, I did not. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 46:31I like that idea. Okay, yeah, ask uh ask Nona. Yeah
- 46:38sure sure, she'll just like shrugging like of course, yeah whatever. Yeah,
- 46:47what do you want them to be, sir? Yeah, yeah,
- 46:55I'm hoping for. Since this will be the last season of Lower Decks,
- 47:00I'm hoping for Mirror Universe Lower Decks. That'd be fantastic if they do like
- 47:05a one off episode like they always do, do it in the Mirror Universe.
- 47:08Yeah, that'd be fantastic. Yeah, I just had an idea we
- 47:15should do a Mere Universe episode of Trek Cast. Would we could have it
- 47:24coincide with the next if they do another Mirror Universe, we could have it
- 47:29be like a segment. We could start the show as a Mer Universe Trek
- 47:31Cast Okay, and if they we can have it coincide with like a Mere
- 47:37Universe episode if they do on Yeah, I see that Dan's gears are turned.
- 47:43Well, you know, I already have facial hair, So how would
- 47:45I differentiate myself from you? No, you have to shave the sides you'd
- 47:52have to do we'd have to do just go tas No, I would do
- 47:53the riker. They would just come off and want I would peel. I
- 47:57would peel them all, feel right off? Wait already, I like mirror.
- 48:02That's a great idea. That's right, you know, you know what
- 48:07mirror truck cast is. Uh. All the bumpers work, the timing is
- 48:12right, that's right, Daniel, a diehard disco fan, fully scripted.
- 48:17That's right. The beards come off, yeah, Daniel, Daniel's a gun
- 48:24toting Marlboro smoking that's right. Star Wars shirt. Yeah, I'll have to
- 48:36go get an affliction t shirt. Yeh yeh oh, yeah, you may
- 48:43have to do this someday. That would be a you know, it'd be
- 48:45a great April fools all. There you go, there you go. Yeah,
- 48:52all right, anything else to talk about this episode? Or yeah,
- 48:59I think we're pretty much upset it. Yeah, okay, Daniel suddenly a
- 49:04huge football fan. Absolutely Scott weak beard. There you go. Yeah,
- 49:13it's old patch. I could either shave it off or I could just make
- 49:15it real real short. Oh no, really thin Do you like the like
- 49:21the color me bad box type? Oh? There you go? Yeah,
- 49:27Well I want to get a boy like the curled up Okay, whirl my
- 49:31mustache mustache that it's ad evil strong beard. I like it. Everyone hates
- 49:40Paddington. Yeah, my son just said randomly. He's like, I want
- 49:47to see Paddington too. I'm like, okay, yeah, my my twelve
- 49:52year old and something he said a week ago. And this his relationship to
- 49:58the Star Trek is he's watched the Nickelodeon one, but he never watches the
- 50:05other ones. He's vaguely aware that I do a podcast. He out of
- 50:08the blue, he just looked at me and said, I want to meet
- 50:12the guys from truck Cast. Oh really, I'm like, okay, Well,
- 50:16someday when we do another in person meet up, I'm like yeah,
- 50:22or maybe I'll have him come on before we start recording. He's a little
- 50:27bit shot. So which part of him should I sign so that he can
- 50:30have it have it tattooed? Yeah? Four arm? You know, forty
- 50:37years later, somebody's like, what's that. My dad used to sit in
- 50:40his van with a guy and talk about Star Trek and that guy wrote on
- 50:45my arm, so I had it tattooed. Well, no, he's going
- 50:47to say, oh, this is a tattoo of Dan Lobardo's signature, and
- 50:51he's like the the executive producer of you know, Stark Exchanging World season season
- 50:57twenty one. Yep, that's him one, the very one. Yeah,
- 51:02all right, well let's get to listener feedback. Then we've got people waiting
- 51:12listener feedback. Listen our feedback, listener feedback. So une but we did
- 51:22get a lot of feedback I put on these social media's how do you feel
- 51:25about lower decks getting canceled? And yeah, man, it is just people
- 51:30are not happy. Aran total bs Dan said, don't talk to me,
- 51:37I'm pissed off. Yeah, people are not happy about this. So that
- 51:43is basically the prevailing sentiment all across social media, not just Towers but any
- 51:47like official star Trek one. That's what I've seen as well. So can
- 51:52we just take a minute to acknowledge uh Terran's post in the group of the
- 51:59full body. Yeah that looks like the arch from the Halid deck. Yeah
- 52:07yeah, you know, since yeah, trekcass is a public group. People
- 52:09can people can you know, share things to it, They could share things
- 52:15from it, they can comment on it even though they're part of the group.
- 52:17But you know, the admins we get to notice every time somebody tries
- 52:22to comment on one of these things, and that post blew up. I
- 52:24was approven like one hundred comments a day, same thing for like three or
- 52:30four days, three or four days straight. Yeah this yeah, yeah,
- 52:35it's got like hundreds of comments, over four hundred comments, over eight thousand
- 52:39likes, over four hundred shares. I mean, this thing just went everywhere.
- 52:44Man. I was just surprised by how many people recognized it as the
- 52:50arch from the Holidack. You know. I would click on some of these
- 52:52people's profiles and look at them, and they weren't you know, they weren't
- 52:57straight up Trek nerds. They were like regular people, regular people in there
- 53:00just saying computer program, that's right. So I thought that was It's it's
- 53:05just funny sometimes what blows up and goes viral. People, what's that,
- 53:10Daniel. It's almost like people see star Trek. Yes, yes, yes,
- 53:15yeah, yeah, all right, let's bring that Chazz. Busy's waiting,
- 53:20so there he is. Hey, Hey, it's so weird without official
- 53:25here, man, I'm not used to it. I'm really growing it.
- 53:28So okay, all right, just don't grow it too much, that's right.
- 53:31Yeah. So well maybe I'm married Chazz, so yeah, because I'm
- 53:37a strong beard, I have a beanie on. I don't have my hat
- 53:40on, so that's true. Could be married Chazz, so it could be
- 53:46the episode what's the password? Yeah, Jeordie you sent me? All right?
- 53:51Yeah, there you go. That's a deep cut. That's a deep
- 53:54deep cut. We've not brought that up in a long time. No,
- 53:59Yeah, I saw somebody on the group trying to promote something that was like
- 54:05they didn't say it, you know. Yeah, yeah, because you can
- 54:08see when they joined the group and everything, and you're like, oh,
- 54:10you just joined the group a couple of days ago, So yeah, trying
- 54:14to promote something, So any for anyone out there who's newer. Sometimes if
- 54:17somebody pops in and uh, they'll try to capitalize on the popularity of the
- 54:24group or the show and promote their own thing. We'll sometimes ask them,
- 54:29hey, who sent you and the answer the answer is Geordie sent me,
- 54:32So feel free to feel free to use that. If there's one thing we
- 54:37we like at Treck Cast, it's confronting each other and challenging each other,
- 54:43say you don't belong here. Yeah, I love it. I watching listening
- 54:54still re listening to the podcast, and I just got to the episode where
- 55:00it was just after we all met in Chicago. Oh really, so yeah,
- 55:06fun, I look at our numbers, right, it is wild how
- 55:09many people listen to all his past episodes? Oh really yeah, like all
- 55:14the time. It's it's kind of crazy. I probably need to do it.
- 55:17Well. The bad thing is you guys reviewing Discovery. I might listen
- 55:23to the Mandalorian once. My wife goes how many people listen to track casts?
- 55:30How big is this podcast? And I'm like, I don't know.
- 55:32Twelve fifteen at least, I don't know. The three of us is Yeah,
- 55:39tens of people made more than the originals. We're getting close if we
- 55:46Yeah, yeah, I think you're almost there maybe, which is impressive.
- 55:52So yeah, because that's as episode what Daniel three ninety I think. But
- 55:58there's supplemental gets supple mentals too. So you guys are getting close. Yeah,
- 56:04you're doing it. You're not off for two years and come back for
- 56:09a week every now and then what happened to cast as back on your feet
- 56:15again? Like two years later they stopped listening. Then after a year they
- 56:20come back and like, who the is this guy. Yeah there. Weird
- 56:25now is we get emails every now and then of people who would be like,
- 56:29oh, like you're should and I went back, who are those other
- 56:30guys? Yeah, o G they're the progenitors of this pod, the t
- 56:40O s. Yeah, so what would that make me? Oh you're oh
- 56:46you went away on a sorry I will you know, everybody just bandished for
- 56:55a second. You know who you know who you are? You are ensign
- 57:00row. You show up fourth or fifth season, you're around for a while,
- 57:06you become a serious regular, but next season you will betray us.
- 57:10You know. When I first started you you kind of like and beat to
- 57:15war, And I think I like that one a little better. Yeah.
- 57:17I imagine one of these days he's gonna take off his shirt and there's gonna
- 57:21be a Stargate shirt underneath. The same dog is back, there's a dog
- 57:25outside another that's to say, what, Okay, okay, at least you're
- 57:30not broccoli, So you're gonna sleep with Yeah? Wow, Yeah, if
- 57:38I was in I guess I would. But that's okay, I didn't remember
- 57:42who I was. Okay, that's fine. Your wife might be jealous,
- 57:45so yeah a little bit. Yeah, but this episode uh. I called
- 57:52it trails and pro generators because spell check can't spell janitors. So yeah,
- 58:01so and they're finding these clues way too easily, like they can solve it
- 58:08and they know they can pinpour in it on the plane. Yeah yeah,
- 58:13it's like, I don't know, they need something in between to make it
- 58:16more exciting, because right now it's kind of this was definitely the final thing
- 58:22is going to be? Is it basically the totally disappointss that Michael Burnan has
- 58:29to destroy the device because it's gonna ruin everything? So what if the only
- 58:36what if the only safe place for this device is eight hundred years in the
- 58:40future, so they have to take the wait a minute, never mind,
- 58:45Yeah, everyone, we're going to the fortieth century. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 58:58good good. They want the whole world to be at peace, right,
- 59:01the whole universe, so they can release this device. But now you're
- 59:07rebuilding the Federation and all these planets and you're trying to get everybody back together
- 59:10again. And I would say the world's unstable right now. Yeah, that's
- 59:19true because you're going to start up at war. You know, they're even
- 59:22mentioned the brain and they mentioned some of the other stuff and you have this
- 59:25whole wedding that they're telegraphing that either the President or Seru is going to die
- 59:30at the wedding. So something's going to happen at the wedding. Yeah,
- 59:35that's all I got to say. We had mentioned what last episode or a
- 59:37couple of them back, that Suru is going to die, but now I'm
- 59:42wondering will the president die? Yeah? That's what. Yeah. Oh that
- 59:50would be a horrible and it could be one of those vulcans that kills her,
- 59:53you know. Oh, you know what, there might be barrier.
- 1:00:00What does God need with a spore drive? If she meets shot? I'd
- 1:00:08give the episode a couple of points. So the shot her God, Yeah,
- 1:00:17he's the you know you mentioned the president dying of Navarre. I don't
- 1:00:22think that's gonna happen, but it it does make me think they might have
- 1:00:25like a kidnapping episode later on. Yeah, so that'll be a and then
- 1:00:34that we're gonna get. Yeah, actually episode what was the Air Force one?
- 1:00:39Movie? Told you to get off my plate? Get Yeah, somebody
- 1:00:49who wrote these episodes definitely watched The Mummy. Yeah, Indiana Jones, every
- 1:00:53every mystery, oh yeah, thing it's gonna be like the end of a
- 1:01:00Last Crusade where you see the night with the Chalice, and then she's gonna
- 1:01:02have to find the chalice which one should you drink? And the mean commander
- 1:01:08drinks it and he dies because he wants all the power. And then so
- 1:01:14late last year we had the reports that Nicholas Cage really wanted to be in
- 1:01:16Star Trek. Right, Oh please don't, no, no, I did,
- 1:01:28I could. I like your idea. A waiting game is asking about
- 1:01:36for continuity if they still care about that, doesn't the Discovery have to be
- 1:01:38destroyed? Uh? No, Discovery has to survive because there was a short
- 1:01:46trek that showed it in the future without the crew abandoned. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:01:54and the world was all messed up too because they had no idea what
- 1:01:58the Federation was anything else. Remember, Yeah, Discovery is going to get
- 1:02:02destroyed at the end of this series, or they're going to find a way
- 1:02:07to bring into my celing the Mushroom Network as part of the storyline, Like
- 1:02:12you know, maybe they need to put the do Me Favor my CeAl my
- 1:02:17Mushroom Network. I love what someone recognizes, recognizes their own limitation and immediately
- 1:02:27adapts the Mushroom Network my there you go, there you go, Hey,
- 1:02:36Scott, can you can? It's Scott, can you get my cial?
- 1:02:40You know, it's really funny. I don't know if we've we've brought this
- 1:02:44up, but it seems like we have potentially. But you know, Stammett's
- 1:02:47on the show is named after a real life my CE expert. He looks
- 1:02:54like a mushroom expert. Yeah. Yeah, wow, look at those mushrooms.
- 1:03:02Yeah, and he takes mushrooms too, so he's probably kind of out
- 1:03:07there. He's really tripped. He's trip balls, guys, He's he's tripped
- 1:03:12a bit. Forgot that. You'll see some weird stuff. So tell yeah,
- 1:03:22I've got a mushroom story. I can't tell it on here. Okay,
- 1:03:29yeah probably it's Yeah, it gets pretty crazy. So what did mal
- 1:03:38take at the end? Oh? Because remember she goes up to uh touches
- 1:03:50their arm. Yeah, you put a put she put a spiky tracery tracer.
- 1:03:55Yeah, they had a clip from the show app that's right, it's
- 1:04:01the new one. Yeah. I want to know, like, who's who's
- 1:04:04paying mall and this other guy and why are they so smart? Like somebody
- 1:04:09has to be paying them because they're don't give away. The Federation didn't just
- 1:04:14try to buy them off, like Okay, yeah, give us this thing,
- 1:04:17We'll give you money and go away. Yeah. Something that they're motivated
- 1:04:21by money, just do that, Yeah exactly. It's like, what's motivating
- 1:04:27them to continue this quest? Yeah, something we don't know about Cleveland Booker.
- 1:04:34Yeah, there's there's a deeper connection with the bicker. Maybe she's going
- 1:04:41to get back if she gets that device, if it can bring back life.
- 1:04:45That's the only thing I could think of. Yeah, okay, And
- 1:04:48what do you think of the giant fly or whatever they fought? Oh yeah,
- 1:04:53yeah, yeah, yeah, the super animal that can go invisible and
- 1:04:57the cloaking dragon. I don't worry. I've left this clicking dragon here for
- 1:05:01eight hundred years. Nobody on this planet as we sounded, and no one
- 1:05:08years. I grew up. I grew up in a a in a county
- 1:05:13adjacent to the one that I'm living in. And you know, I only
- 1:05:17get back on that side of the river once every few months, right,
- 1:05:23And I'm constantly driving through there going oh, oh they built that, Oh
- 1:05:29they're knocked down the such and such. Oh, there's here now yeah.
- 1:05:32Yeah, yeah, and that's like eight weeks, not eight hundred years.
- 1:05:41Yeah, you know, the the idea that this completely undeveloped valley will still
- 1:05:46be a completely undeveloped valley and this stone will be right here for me to
- 1:05:50move this rock on top of it and take this thing. Come on.
- 1:05:54Yeah, so you're saying, no hikers, nothing has been all these years,
- 1:06:00even the hiking trail, even squatters would stay there probably, So yeah,
- 1:06:05that creature was interesting. They talked about that on the Will Whaitt and
- 1:06:09Shoe too and how you know, making that and reacting to it. Yeah,
- 1:06:13and they just kept telling the actors, you know, look at this
- 1:06:15point up and they the directors kept saying, no, no, look higher,
- 1:06:18look higher, it's taller, look higher. So yeah, so it
- 1:06:24was it lethal weapon? Uh? Are we going on three? Or is
- 1:06:28it one? Two? Three? Go? Was that lethal weapon? I
- 1:06:30think? So? Yeah? Ok? Yeah was it? I Yeah,
- 1:06:33I liked that little interaction. I didn't I didn't realize it was yeah,
- 1:06:38No, that's right. Yeah, I liked it in nineteen eighty six when
- 1:06:41it was Riggs and myrtog but yeah, Rigs, yeah, three year three,
- 1:06:48But I do like when they let him be characters a little bit,
- 1:06:50you know, you know what you know. That was another thing I did
- 1:06:54like about this episode is we got to learn a little bit about the crew
- 1:06:58and just some other and yeah, a little bit. That was what.
- 1:07:01You know. What's funny is you don't have Debt mar or a washingcoon or
- 1:07:05whatever her name is. Yeah, those two and they've been on almost every
- 1:07:11episode and you've barely seen him this season, right, Nielsen is gone.
- 1:07:16She went to the voyager, that's right, Yeah, what was it?
- 1:07:21Even the lady that had the thing in her mouth? She's staying with another
- 1:07:27like her people. But then in another episode she came back to UH as
- 1:07:32a checks and balances for yeah, for Michael, and then she went back
- 1:07:36to whatever special ops things she was doing, right hyperpop back in kind of
- 1:07:45like that character. Yet it was a good character, yeah her And I
- 1:07:50really like jet Reno. I think jet Reno is hilarious. So yeah,
- 1:07:56they need to pay her whatever she's characters in the last season better than never
- 1:08:00exactly, yeah, or right before they die, right before they die.
- 1:08:05Yep. I think they need to do a spin off on lower decks.
- 1:08:10So since it's ending, like keep the Cartoon World do a spin off.
- 1:08:15Maybe they're upper deckers, so do lower deck spiders. Can't call it upper
- 1:08:25deckers. Yeah, but I think we came up with a good idea of
- 1:08:30the show Middle deckers. Yeah, the lieutenants of the of whatever starship.
- 1:08:38Yeah, because if they get a new ship, you know, it could
- 1:08:41be crappier than the Serritos. That's true, having them all together and they
- 1:08:45do their own missions because now they're he'd like to see an actual garbage scale,
- 1:08:50Yes, why not? Why not? It's like, let's let's do
- 1:08:57something fun up this next season of lower decks like this is I don't know
- 1:09:03that one makes me mad because I actually like that show, and they shouldn't,
- 1:09:09you know what, put that same crew in different different timelines in Star
- 1:09:12Trek and just different lower decks, Like now we have a TG lower deck,
- 1:09:15now we have a Coos lower deck crew. It'd be great. Now.
- 1:09:18Yeah, there's a lot they could do with it since it's animated,
- 1:09:23right, Well, it's not like they have to rebuild the sets. What's
- 1:09:27funny about lower decks, it's the time period we all want to be in
- 1:09:30right now, like Star Trek because it's after next gen after D nine and
- 1:09:38everything else has been either far into the future or before. We want to
- 1:09:43be in that time period. After DS nine, A waiting game wants to
- 1:09:47know how did Lower Decks do in terms of streaming? Seems popular to me,
- 1:09:51uh with its response accounting where people watching it. Yeah, I mean
- 1:09:58it's we don't have hard numbers, right because that's just streaming nowadays, you
- 1:10:00don't get numbers right. But but it's seemed popular. I think they need
- 1:10:06to syndicate these shows, like they need to put them on Netflix, and
- 1:10:14I think that's what's happening. I think I think Paramount Plus is going to
- 1:10:17go away. Yeah, that's why they did it indicated, and you know
- 1:10:21other people will watch it and see if they like it or not. I
- 1:10:26definitely just pick it up and they'll keep doing it, just like they did
- 1:10:29with like Cobra Kai. I think that the decision is based on can we
- 1:10:34sell this to another streamer? And for whatever reason, I don't think they
- 1:10:40see Lower Decks as being profitable to sell to another streamer, Yeah, which
- 1:10:45is sad, or maybe they're going to try. I mean that's what Jack
- 1:10:49Quaide said. I somebody to get the airplane out with the banner fly over
- 1:10:57the studio save Lord all right, Yeah, checked the coffee account. Yeah
- 1:11:03exactly. I bought swags. All my money's on the the shirts and the
- 1:11:11hat, So there you go. That's next time. I have to donate
- 1:11:15to the coffee account. So there's some money in there. Pay for your
- 1:11:21streaming service. So there you go. Thank you. You're band with however
- 1:11:27much anything else you want to bring up, chest biz, that's it.
- 1:11:32I'm I'm just happy to talk to you guys, and hopefully next week we'll
- 1:11:38have a better episode and the season will not disappoint. That's all I gotta
- 1:11:43say. Just please, don't disappoint us at the end. Yeah, don't
- 1:11:46put horses on the Enterprise on the saucers section and they're running with's horses on
- 1:11:53the saucers. Ye Star Wars. Yeah, don't don't do that. Okay,
- 1:12:00don't make that mistake. Don't make a knife that. Somehow you can
- 1:12:03stand in this position and the death stars right there and it matches up,
- 1:12:08and you know right perfectly sure you don't want to find out that Michael Burnham
- 1:12:13is the clone and yeah, not really important. Okay, what if Michael
- 1:12:16Burnham brings out a knife and says made a knife chip and shatter before she
- 1:12:20fights somebody. The more deep is she the least? All right, thanks
- 1:12:32for beating on Jazvis. All right, thank you, right, all right?
- 1:12:39Wow? Yeah, Hey, have you guys been watching Fallout, the
- 1:12:43new Amazon show? Okay, no, I have not. I have two
- 1:12:48episodes of it. There is a start. Your connection to it, well
- 1:12:54is uh. I forget the character's name, but she is the voice of
- 1:12:58Gwynn on Prodigy. Oh, okay, okay, there to it. I
- 1:13:06had mentioned, uh, sorry, go ahead. I was just gonna say,
- 1:13:10I don't know anything about the games, but I'm okay, so I'll
- 1:13:15check it out. Well, that's kind of in the spirit of what I
- 1:13:17was, you know, a few weeks ago. I'd recommended maybe we could
- 1:13:19do recommendations at the end of the show. And I have a recommendation if
- 1:13:24anybody wants to hear it, two of them. Actually, I've been watching
- 1:13:28the show for all mankind. It's Apple plus the Basic. It's got four
- 1:13:32seasons out right now. The basic premise is uh. Season one starts with
- 1:13:38the premise is what would have what would the planet had been like had Russia
- 1:13:43landed on the Moon? First, and it postulates that it would have begun
- 1:13:47a space race that dwarfed the space race that we saw in reality. Uh.
- 1:13:51And it jumps ahead about eight to ten years each season, so you
- 1:13:55can see the progression. You know, first a go of the Moon and
- 1:13:58it's a big deal, and then there's you know, there's a space station
- 1:14:00on the Moon, and then and then they go to Mars, you know,
- 1:14:03and stuff like that. So it's really good. The other recommendation I
- 1:14:06have is on a whim, I watched, Uh, you're familiar with the
- 1:14:12Ted movies. Seth McFarland. Okay, so I watched Ted one a couple
- 1:14:16of months ago, and I thought it was, you know, funny and
- 1:14:17a raunchy comedy. I saw Ted two yesterday just on a whim, and
- 1:14:25it's got a ton of Star Trek references. Seth McFarland is a huge Star
- 1:14:30Trek fan. In the middle of the movie, the now visitor shows up
- 1:14:35for like a two minute scene and it's like, I'm gonna go see here
- 1:14:40tomorrow. Yeah, it's it's great. Uh, Michael Dorn's in it.
- 1:14:45It's it's fantastic. Great if you're if you're into the like the Ron.
- 1:14:53Yeah, and I've seen on TikTok, but I've watching. Yeah, I
- 1:14:58haven't watched either. I think I'm gonna wat now that that I've seen Ted
- 1:15:01one and TED two. But yeah, there's a ton part of it takes
- 1:15:04place at a comic con. Okay, so you know the the d is
- 1:15:12there and uh yeah, and yep, it has a kind of a prominent
- 1:15:18role. So I was Michael Doran. I'm not going to spoil it,
- 1:15:24but Michael Dorn is there and all of his Michael Dorn glory, so it's
- 1:15:30amazing how he shows up. That's great, d anything you want to recommend,
- 1:15:36I haven't seen it yet, but I'm trying to go see Civil War.
- 1:15:43Yeah, I heard it got some pretty good reviews. Unpleasantly. Uh,
- 1:15:49I'm not surprised. I was hoping that they would do this the the
- 1:15:54catalyst for the Civil War. They don't really give specifics in the movie.
- 1:15:59They keep it a political as to not alienate half the people in our country.
- 1:16:03So that's good. I kind of knew they were gonna or I kind
- 1:16:06of suspected they were going to do that based on the alliance of California and
- 1:16:11Texas. That doesn't make any sense in contemporary politics. So yeah, I
- 1:16:18asked my wife if she wants to see it. She kind of doesn't,
- 1:16:24so I don't know if it's something I want to bring my son to.
- 1:16:28So my choices are I'm going to call my dad and see if he wants
- 1:16:31to go see it, and then if he's not available, I may just
- 1:16:35go see it myself. There's nothing wrong with that. I go all the
- 1:16:39time myself. It's fine. I've heard it is not what you think it
- 1:16:44is. It's not really about the war. It's more about war journalists and
- 1:16:49what they go through. Okay, So yeah, it had been mismarketed in
- 1:16:57that respect. All all the more reason my son will probably be bored.
- 1:17:02Yeah, bring him to it. It may not be as violent as I
- 1:17:05expected, but he'll probably be believe that those guys tend to be not kissed
- 1:17:13appropriate. Yeah, it's a dog. There's a dog running by. Welcome
- 1:17:17to podcast, everyone, All right, I'm gonna go. I have to
- 1:17:24get going. Uh visitors panels in about a half hour. And I also
- 1:17:30wanted to say, uh once again to you guys, thank you for having
- 1:17:32me on as a as a host and and let me uh fill those shoes.
- 1:17:36I mean, I was able to get a press pass for for this
- 1:17:40comic con. I've been here for three days, so it's it's been awesome.
- 1:17:45So, you know, thanks for this opportunity to so of course,
