- 0:47Speaker 1: Kenny Mason's here, ladies and gentlemen. We were talking.
- 0:49Speaker 2: It's a crazy time in America. Idiocracy. Great movie. Yeah.
- 0:53Speaker 1: No, I was saying that all of the crazy shit
- 0:57Speaker 1: that gets dumped on us, like, The CIA and the
- 1:00Speaker 1: Pentagon will release alien footage in 5K now.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah. I think they've done it four times. They've had
- 1:07Speaker 2: these file drops.
- 1:09Speaker 1: And no one cares.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Nobody give a fuck. We've been watching aliens. Alien rollout flop.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Well, it's like they've been rolling it out since I
- 1:17Speaker 1: was alive and since my parents were alive. I watched
- 1:19Speaker 1: Independence Day.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Which, by the way, I mean... Rightfully so. I mean,
- 1:24Speaker 2: I don't know if... I don't know if... People could
- 1:27Speaker 2: handle it if... Well, I just think we desensitized to where, like,
- 1:30Speaker 2: aliens ain't really shit. Like, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:32Speaker 2: For sure. I think we all think they're already here.
- 1:34Speaker 2: The humans on Earth is way scarier. 100%. You know
- 1:37Speaker 2: what I'm saying? 100%, man.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Well, listen, we have Kenny Mason, who has not been
- 1:41Speaker 1: on the show for, I want to say it's been
- 1:42Speaker 1: three or four years.
- 1:43Speaker 2: It's been a minute. It's been like four, yeah.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's been a minute, man.
- 1:45Speaker 2: He's back.
- 1:46Speaker 1: You got your new project, Bulldog, out.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You're in L.A.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Are these your actual bulldogs on the album cover?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Nah, these are... These are bulldogs borrowed from a friend.
- 1:59Speaker 1: So you borrowed the dogs for the cover?
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yes. The main dog on the cover, her name's Sugar.
- 2:04Speaker 2: She's a sweetheart. We basically took a bunch of pictures
- 2:11Speaker 2: as still as I could get them to be because
- 2:13Speaker 2: they was rowdy. And that picture that's the cover just
- 2:16Speaker 2: was the one that came out perfect. And she was
- 2:18Speaker 2: front and center. She was low-key smiling, so. Well, as
- 2:22Speaker 2: a Frenchie owner, I appreciated the cover. I was like,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you know, next time if you ever need any other Bulldogs,
- 2:27Speaker 2: let me know. Oh, yeah, man. I'll pull up. I
- 2:29Speaker 2: got two of them. We'll pull up on y'all and
- 2:33Speaker 2: get some nice photos.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Explain kind of just the concept and the name and, like,
- 2:38Speaker 1: how did you land on Bulldog?
- 2:40Speaker 2: It kind of, like, it kind of just came, like,
- 2:43Speaker 2: developed on its own. The original, I guess, concept name
- 2:46Speaker 2: for the project was Junkyard Dog.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Did you have the Junkyard Freestyle in?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Exactly. So, you know, the scrapyard, junkyard was the setting of, like,
- 2:55Speaker 2: everything taking place narratively in the album. But I think that, like,
- 2:59Speaker 2: Bulldog was more of a, it looked better, like, as
- 3:03Speaker 2: a word, like, as a title card. For sure. You
- 3:04Speaker 2: know what I'm saying?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, junkyard dog.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Is, like. It's too much. Yeah. It's a little too much. Yeah.
- 3:09Speaker 1: This is, like, technically one word. I mean, obviously, it's
- 3:11Speaker 1: two words, but, you know.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Yeah. It's smoother. It's smoother. Like, two syllables, you know
- 3:15Speaker 2: what I'm saying? So, and then, I mean, I'm from Georgia,
- 3:18Speaker 2: so it was already, like... Georgia Bulldogs. Yeah, it was
- 3:20Speaker 2: an alley-oop there, and it's very much the setting of
- 3:23Speaker 2: the album as well, but I guess the big selling
- 3:26Speaker 2: point was kind of, like, how Bulldogs was bred anyway,
- 3:30Speaker 2: which was to, like, actually kill bulls. And I just
- 3:33Speaker 2: thought that was, like, a fire, like, metaphor for, like,
- 3:36Speaker 2: I guess me and my place in the industry, like
- 3:39Speaker 2: a David and Goliath type.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, like, you're, like, kind of.
- 3:43Speaker 2: the slept on dude, but you're like, you will take
- 3:45Speaker 2: down a giant. Oh God.
- 3:47Speaker 1: By the way, let's just be clear. The bulldogs he's
- 3:50Speaker 1: talking about are not the same ones that are on
- 3:51Speaker 1: the cover. Cause French bulldogs are mutant aliens that were
- 3:57Speaker 1: bred for, for commerce.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That's yeah. The OG bulldogs. Well, we got,
- 4:03Speaker 2: we got the COVID scammer money Frenchies. That's what the
- 4:06Speaker 2: fuck I got at my house. Those things are not yet. Like,
- 4:09Speaker 2: Not ethical, bro. No, no, they're not.
- 4:11Speaker 1: But like every drug dealer I knew cleaned their shit
- 4:14Speaker 1: up during COVID and started fucking breeding Frenchies.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that shit. I mean, being around them give me anxiety.
- 4:20Speaker 2: You know, like they'll like walk up the stairs and die.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Trust me. I live with them.
- 4:27Speaker 1: One sleeps in my bed every night. In my fucking ear.
- 4:30Speaker 1: You have animals or no?
- 4:31Speaker 2: I got a pit bull terrier. She doesn't live with
- 4:36Speaker 2: me because I be traveling too much. But like I
- 4:38Speaker 2: raised her up in a pandemic. Oh, dope. Yeah, so
- 4:40Speaker 2: I just, I had a roommate during the pandemic, and
- 4:42Speaker 2: she went with him, but that's technically, like, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 2: my dog. I go see her.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You definitely, like, came out of the pandemic swinging. How
- 4:52Speaker 1: would you kind of, like, I feel like it's kind
- 4:54Speaker 1: of crazy to look back. I mean, it feels like
- 4:56Speaker 1: it was, like, nine months ago.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah. But for six years later. Yeah, but I feel
- 5:01Speaker 2: like none of this count.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of crazy. Like, we really, like, reflect, like,
- 5:06Speaker 1: what we went through. A lot of people got depressed.
- 5:08Speaker 1: A lot of people were lonely. People weren't leaving the house.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You guys were out the fuck side in Atlanta, though.
- 5:13Speaker 2: I'll say that. Yeah, we was tripping. Because I had
- 5:16Speaker 2: a pork chop at, is it Deja Vu? Probably. I
- 5:20Speaker 2: had a pork chop at Deja Vu in the middle
- 5:21Speaker 2: of the pandemic in Atlanta. Nah, it was regular. It
- 5:24Speaker 2: was even Motown. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because it was like
- 5:26Speaker 2: people coming there. Because people would travel to Atlanta to
- 5:28Speaker 2: turn up. Like, yeah, everything, especially y'all out here, y'all
- 5:31Speaker 2: was coming, like, on here, like, Nah, they opened in Atlanta.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I'm going to the strip club.
- 5:36Speaker 1: A hundred percent.
- 5:37Speaker 2: That was crazy.
- 5:38Speaker 1: But I have to say, for you, you felt like
- 5:40Speaker 1: you kind of had your shit together coming out of
- 5:42Speaker 1: the pandemic. Did it help or hurt your creative process?
- 5:48Speaker 1: Because I saw a lot of artists really.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Hit a wall. Yeah. I mean, for sure. I think
- 5:54Speaker 2: that I definitely had to adapt a little bit to
- 5:58Speaker 2: the situation. Lucky for me, I feel like I'm the
- 6:01Speaker 2: type of artist that is comfortable recording at home So
- 6:04Speaker 2: I was still able to make music and like.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And you can record yourself?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I mean, I feel like everybody needs to learn.
- 6:10Speaker 2: I mean, that's what I did. Like my whole like
- 6:12Speaker 2: second project was recorded in a pandemic at home for
- 6:15Speaker 2: the most part. You know what I'm saying? So I
- 6:17Speaker 2: feel like it was it was easy for me, but
- 6:20Speaker 2: it was definitely like a lot of people in my
- 6:21Speaker 2: class that just like had like a really high ceiling
- 6:25Speaker 2: and then like. we got to be in the house
- 6:28Speaker 2: for fucking 10 months. Right. All of a sudden, and
- 6:30Speaker 2: it fucked them up. It fucked a lot of people up, man.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Even just, like, momentum-wise, you would see people like, and
- 6:36Speaker 2: you're like, yo, COVID, man, fucked up that whole thing.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Even me, like, I had to adapt to shit, but
- 6:41Speaker 2: even me, it was just like, bro, I had hella, like,
- 6:43Speaker 2: that first year I popped up, I had hella festivals
- 6:46Speaker 2: lined up that all got canceled, hella, like, walkthroughs, just
- 6:49Speaker 2: a whole bunch of shit. Like, I'd be thinking about, like,
- 6:51Speaker 2: maybe some of the hands I didn't shake or just, like,
- 6:54Speaker 2: shit like that.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of people lost out on a lot
- 6:56Speaker 1: of money, like, I remember Roddy Ricch was having the
- 6:58Speaker 1: craziest 2019 going into the new year, and he had
- 7:02Speaker 1: the summer on lock, and all that shit got canceled. Like,
- 7:05Speaker 1: all of his festival dates.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Because he had the box. It was the number
- 7:09Speaker 2: one song in the fucking world. Biggest rap song. Biggest
- 7:11Speaker 2: rap song in the fucking world, and had a crazy
- 7:14Speaker 2: festival run to go along with it, and then... I mean, yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: he still did his thing.
- 7:18Speaker 1: No, for sure.
- 7:19Speaker 2: But, like, yeah, who knows, like... 100%. Shit. You know
- 7:22Speaker 2: what I'm saying? Everything might have looked different had it
- 7:24Speaker 2: not happened. But, I mean, I'm the type of person, like,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I ain't going to make no excuses. I'm going to
- 7:27Speaker 2: go out there and figure this shit out. You know
- 7:29Speaker 2: what I'm saying? And I feel like that's why I'm
- 7:31Speaker 2: still here.
- 7:32Speaker 1: About your synergy with JID, obviously, you know, you guys
- 7:36Speaker 1: are both out of the A, but I feel like
- 7:37Speaker 1: anytime you guys work together, it's always amazing.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Just talk about that chemistry and, like, that friendship and
- 7:46Speaker 1: how did it start and, like, why do you guys
- 7:47Speaker 1: think you sound so good together when it comes to
- 7:49Speaker 1: making music? It feels so effortless.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I feel like Atlanta just speak a certain language, you know?
- 7:56Speaker 2: I feel like if you from the city, like really
- 7:58Speaker 2: from the city and you know, you grew up seeing
- 8:02Speaker 2: some of the things we saw and like growing up,
- 8:05Speaker 2: how we grew up, like forced to be an adult,
- 8:07Speaker 2: probably like a young age type shit. And you know
- 8:10Speaker 2: what I'm saying? Like young black. I mean, we all
- 8:12Speaker 2: kind of got put into the same like little archetype
- 8:15Speaker 2: is you, you did going to play sports or rap,
- 8:17Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? And I think that like, uh,
- 8:21Speaker 2: me and Jed are similar in a sense of like
- 8:23Speaker 2: a certain level of awareness. Right. of that situation while still, like,
- 8:29Speaker 2: relating to, you know, the people and things going on
- 8:32Speaker 2: around us and having the kind of bravery to, I guess,
- 8:37Speaker 2: be more lyric forward or, like, you know what I'm saying,
- 8:41Speaker 2: conceptually writing in a city that's kind of, like, against that, like,
- 8:45Speaker 2: very much, oh, freestyle punching, like, we kind of, like,
- 8:49Speaker 2: invented that type of shit.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I feel like the A definitely invented the punching.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Yeah, so, like, we, like, kind of, like, the in
- 8:56Speaker 2: a sense, maybe the antithesis to that, but we still
- 8:58Speaker 2: very much Atlanta is fucked. And I feel like he
- 9:00Speaker 2: understand that, like, oh, just because I'm, like, lyrical don't
- 9:03Speaker 2: mean I ain't got to live this way. Right. You
- 9:06Speaker 2: know what I'm saying? And I understand that, too. So
- 9:08Speaker 2: I feel like that's where we synergize at. Do you,
- 9:11Speaker 2: when you're recording, do you write, are you, like, writing
- 9:15Speaker 2: your shit? It's half and half.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Or is it punching in?
- 9:17Speaker 2: Like, what is your process? It's half and half. It depends,
- 9:19Speaker 2: it really depends on the beat and it depends on
- 9:21Speaker 2: my mood. Sometimes I punch in a record and it's like, Fun,
- 9:25Speaker 2: freestyling is like faster. Like on the Here to Stay
- 9:28Speaker 2: record where you're like pretty melodic, the interlude. That's straight freestyling.
- 9:32Speaker 2: That's like me.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Vibing, humming.
- 9:35Speaker 2: We made the beat and I'm like humming melodies as
- 9:38Speaker 2: like the beat is being crafted. And I already got
- 9:41Speaker 2: like mumbles and stuff and I'm just mumbling until like
- 9:45Speaker 2: words come. Yeah. Whereas like a Junkyard freestyle is like
- 9:49Speaker 2: I already know what I'm doing.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Super intentional.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I already know what I'm going to rap about.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I already got this like feeling and like concept. So, like, yeah. Woo!
- 9:57Speaker 2: You already know, baby. Our family at Odd Socks. They
- 9:59Speaker 2: have been rocking.

- 10:06Speaker 2: All right?

- 10:17Speaker 2: It's the only socks I wear. The only socks in

- 10:25Speaker 1: to wearing the white tube socks. Listen, not only are
- 10:28Speaker 1: these better, they're more affordable, and they're more comfortable. And

- 11:15Speaker 1: to me, for you, man, can you explain... Because.
- 11:20Speaker 2: I feel like.
- 11:22Speaker 1: You play with a lot of sonics, obviously different genres,
- 11:26Speaker 1: but even just, like, I feel like the way you
- 11:28Speaker 1: play with your voice or some of the, like, mixing
- 11:31Speaker 1: and mastering or some of the filters or some of
- 11:32Speaker 1: the EQ, like, how hands-on are you with the engineer
- 11:36Speaker 1: when it comes to, like, yo, see what it sounds
- 11:38Speaker 1: like if you do it like this?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it might.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Because there should be, sometimes, it's, like, a lot.
- 11:43Speaker 2: My engineer is my best friend, bro. They, like, engineers,
- 11:46Speaker 2: I just want to say to engineers, don't get enough credit.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And they like the most kind of, sometimes the most
- 11:52Speaker 2: disrespected people in music.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I feel like engineers and videographers.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yo, videographers, by the way, some of the
- 12:02Speaker 2: bravest people, like, they, I mean.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Running around in the craziest areas.
- 12:06Speaker 2: They like.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Got to get the shot.
- 12:07Speaker 2: They like the military cameramen. You know what I'm saying? Like,
- 12:09Speaker 2: it's like the equivalent.
- 12:10Speaker 1: For sure.
- 12:11Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? We got it, like. But
- 12:13Speaker 2: they get the most guns pointed at them.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I always see these guys who do these hood vlogs,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and I'm always like, well, who's the bruh shooting this
- 12:19Speaker 1: shit behind the camera? You know what I mean?
- 12:21Speaker 2: There's these guys.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Running around with a mic.
- 12:22Speaker 2: You got to be on go too.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But no, but you're right about the engineer, because I
- 12:25Speaker 1: feel like if a good engineer that you have a
- 12:29Speaker 1: relationship with should get production credit on a lot of shit,
- 12:31Speaker 1: because they're really like.
- 12:32Speaker 2: Well, I mean, okay. Yeah. Or like they help.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You know, like if it's like, yo, I'll tell you, like,
- 12:39Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know, you say your engineer's your
- 12:41Speaker 1: best friend, but I've seen.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Well, I mean, yeah, I got... We locked into a certain,
- 12:45Speaker 2: you know, level of, like, yo, like, this is beyond
- 12:48Speaker 2: engineering sometimes, you know what I'm saying?
- 12:50Speaker 1: For sure.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Like, because, like, you, I mean, you crafting a song
- 12:54Speaker 2: in a way that is kind of production sometimes. Yeah. Or, like,
- 12:57Speaker 2: crafting my voice to do certain things. So it just depends.
- 13:00Speaker 2: It's situational, but, like, for sure, like, I mean, just
- 13:02Speaker 2: locked in as far as, like, I can establish this
- 13:05Speaker 2: sound consistently. And also, like, we can experiment with, like,
- 13:11Speaker 2: effects or different, like, I know for me, like, I
- 13:15Speaker 2: like to do a lot of shit. I like to
- 13:16Speaker 2: stack my vocals. I like to, like, sound like a
- 13:18Speaker 2: fucking alien sometimes. For sure. You know what I'm saying?
- 13:22Speaker 2: So I'd be willing to be locked in with my engineer.
- 13:25Speaker 1: You've worked with, let's see, Freddie, Jid, Project Pat.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 1: You've had some legendary artists that you've linked with. Is
- 13:34Speaker 1: there somebody who's just, like, for whatever reason, it just
- 13:38Speaker 1: hasn't happened? Maybe it almost happened. Who do you really
- 13:41Speaker 1: want to, like, get one in with before you hang
- 13:43Speaker 1: it up? If you ever hang it up, obviously.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Uh, I, I don't know, bro. I feel like I
- 13:49Speaker 2: used to have like a, a list, but I'm really
- 13:51Speaker 2: just on some shit now. Like, I work with anybody
- 13:54Speaker 2: who want to work. You know what I'm saying? Like,
- 13:56Speaker 2: I'm a rapping ass nigga, but I'm also like a
- 13:57Speaker 2: music nigga. Like, I work with anybody who want.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Dominic Fike records hard too.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Super dope. Thank you. Yeah. Like, but I feel
- 14:05Speaker 2: like a lot of rappers be scared to rap with
- 14:07Speaker 2: me maybe, or that's how I feel. Like to where
- 14:10Speaker 2: it's like, I don't get, I don't get asked to
- 14:12Speaker 2: do any features, as I feel like I should. Sometimes
- 14:16Speaker 2: I'll ask for- Rob Markman Have you ever put a
- 14:17Speaker 2: guest verse on somebody's shit and it got left off?
- 14:20Speaker 2: Rob Markman Nah, it never got left off, but it
- 14:24Speaker 2: might not have came out, for whatever reason. Rob Markman
- 14:27Speaker 2: Sometimes that could be, the beat didn't get cleared. Rob
- 14:30Speaker 2: Markman But that's happened a lot of times. Rob Markman
- 14:31Speaker 2: He's like, yo, why is it every time I out
- 14:33Speaker 2: rap somebody I know a song? Rob Markman That's happened
- 14:34Speaker 2: more times than the song actually came out. Rob Markman
- 14:37Speaker 2: That is crazy. Rob Markman Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 1: I want to know your thoughts. Obviously, as an Atlanta kid,
- 14:42Speaker 1: I'm so conflicted. There's somebody who has Equimini right there,
- 14:45Speaker 1: my third favorite hip-hop album of all time. What are
- 14:48Speaker 1: your thoughts on the outcast-overcast thing? There's the lawsuit.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Yeah. It's a tough goddamn, I guess, situation for me
- 14:56Speaker 2: because I've been on overcast for a long time.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Great guy, by the way.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Yeah, no, he's talented as fuck. I mean, I feel
- 15:04Speaker 2: like his beats, his production, and also his own music
- 15:08Speaker 2: is like, super fire i feel like it's unfortunate that
- 15:12Speaker 2: they like having a disagreement for real.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Because and it's like it's whatever the parent company is
- 15:16Speaker 1: that owns that trademark so it feels like one of
- 15:18Speaker 1: those things that like if in like a year like
- 15:21Speaker 1: andre gets ran up on somewhere he might not even
- 15:23Speaker 1: have known this shit was going on you know what.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm saying yeah maybe i i don't know enough about
- 15:27Speaker 2: if they if they even is like involved like directly
- 15:30Speaker 2: like you know saying it's a note to like for
- 15:32Speaker 2: really coming on but i mean i hate that because Yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 2: I hate it too. I mean, I vote Overcast as
- 15:36Speaker 2: my boy. He's dope. But also as Outkast. I'm not
- 15:39Speaker 2: going against Selena, you know what I'm saying? It's my
- 15:40Speaker 2: favorite album. I mean, my favorite group ever is Outkast.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I mean, I'm like a creative child of Outkast. I
- 15:46Speaker 2: have three stacks. And I feel like in some way
- 15:49Speaker 2: he may be too, you know?
- 15:50Speaker 1: No, I mean, I think, yeah. I mean, I feel
- 15:52Speaker 1: like anybody who is dope like that has to at
- 15:54Speaker 1: least have a surface level.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Respect for Outkast. But they shouldn't be trying to take
- 15:58Speaker 2: his bread. No, that ain't.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I could maybe understand it a little
- 16:02Speaker 1: bit more if it's like, yo, just change the name.
- 16:04Speaker 1: but change the name and all the money you've made
- 16:07Speaker 1: since you've been overcast. When he came from a collective
- 16:10Speaker 1: of guys who were named after weather shit.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Which I barely just.
- 16:13Speaker 2: That shit just unfortunate. Yeah.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Shout out to RZA for not suing SZA.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Type shit. Yeah. Like I feel like. Yeah. Yeah. Kind
- 16:22Speaker 2: of feel like.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And shout out to Nas for not suing Lil Nas X.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Lil Nas X. Yeah. Yeah. They probably. Yeah. I don't know.
- 16:29Speaker 1: If you had to like. Really lock in and do
- 16:31Speaker 1: like an entirely different genre for one album. Would it
- 16:35Speaker 1: be like rock, punk?
- 16:36Speaker 2: What are you doing? Well, obviously, yeah, I would do
- 16:39Speaker 2: like an alternative, like heavy guitar leaning album for sure.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Like without a thought. But also, I feel like I
- 16:47Speaker 2: would also be interested in kind of like an R &
- 16:49Speaker 2: B maybe. Yeah. Or like swinging it, like maybe like
- 16:52Speaker 2: alternative R & B type of shit for sure.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we need more R & B. I just went
- 16:58Speaker 1: to Chris Brown and Usher's stadium show and it was like,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I was like, where's all this shit at right now?
- 17:03Speaker 1: This motherfucker just sold out a stadium with a bunch
- 17:05Speaker 1: of R & B records. Who's like, we need more
- 17:06Speaker 1: people making this shit right now. Obviously there are some
- 17:09Speaker 1: amazing R & B artists right now.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I feel like I've seen like a few people, I
- 17:12Speaker 2: don't even know their name or nothing like that, but
- 17:15Speaker 2: I've seen like a few guys like try to do that,
- 17:17Speaker 2: like the 2026 version of that and just get straight
- 17:20Speaker 2: up laughed at.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah. My boys connected with Jermaine Dupri Division. So they
- 17:27Speaker 1: left OVO and they did a really dope late 90s,
- 17:31Speaker 1: early 2000s.
- 17:32Speaker 2: R & B album. And one of the records did
- 17:33Speaker 2: all right. But they did it with the architect of Confessions,
- 17:37Speaker 2: Jermaine Dupri. You know what I'm saying? That's fire. And Division.
- 17:41Speaker 2: I used to listen to Division. Fire. Yeah, yeah. Shout
- 17:43Speaker 2: out to Division.
- 17:45Speaker 1: In terms of the trippy rock shit in that world,
- 17:49Speaker 1: what are you influenced by? What is the stuff that
- 17:51Speaker 1: kind of stuck with you in that world that maybe
- 17:53Speaker 1: you were listening to?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Definitely like A lot of grunge and, like, post-grunge stuff. So, like,
- 17:59Speaker 2: everything from, like, Nirvana and, like, Smashing Pumpkins and stuff
- 18:04Speaker 2: like that up to, like, I mean, I love, like, Deftones.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Deftones is fire. Like, I guess new metal type of stuff. Like,
- 18:11Speaker 2: they would fall into that. Just, like, heavier stuff.
- 18:13Speaker 1: You ever get into Tool?
- 18:15Speaker 2: I like a couple Tool songs.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Tool is, like, the nerdy. It's, like, you got to
- 18:19Speaker 1: really be into, like, trigonometry to fuck with Tool. But
- 18:23Speaker 1: they got some crazy shit. Like, they got some joints.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 18:26Speaker 1: The new metal shit can get.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It goes from, like, Deftones, and then, like, the other
- 18:31Speaker 2: side of it is, like... Korn.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Korn.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:35Speaker 1: By the way, I love Korn.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I like some Korn songs.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Freak on Alicia's.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I like some Korn songs. But then there's, like, Limp Bizkit,
- 18:41Speaker 2: which hasn't aged the greatest. But had TRL... Yo, I
- 18:45Speaker 2: want to say... Yeah, I want to say I do
- 18:48Speaker 2: want to put some respect on Limp Bizkit's name. They
- 18:50Speaker 2: had it on lock. Because they kind of invented a
- 18:53Speaker 2: whole genre of white men. Fred Durst?
- 18:57Speaker 1: There wasn't a Fred Durst before Fred Durst?
- 18:59Speaker 2: Was there? Am I missing something? Am I missing something?
- 19:01Speaker 2: They put him in a cryogenic chamber. Yeah. I just
- 19:05Speaker 2: feel like it was a lot of white guys with
- 19:07Speaker 2: their hat back after that.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Yo, he was responsible for the red fitted hat craze.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 1: And then he had the like... they made an entire
- 19:19Speaker 1: new era line based on, because he had the logo.
- 19:21Speaker 2: You see what I'm saying? Remember, there was like the
- 19:22Speaker 2: hats with just the logo in the corner, and it
- 19:24Speaker 2: was like a blank.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Yeah. That's iconic.
- 19:28Speaker 1: And like, Damn Near made like the rap rock, how
- 19:31Speaker 1: do you feel about it? But the rap rock thing
- 19:33Speaker 1: was like.
- 19:34Speaker 2: No, for sure.
- 19:34Speaker 1: It was them.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Right, yes, 100%. Yeah, and then like. Like on a
- 19:38Speaker 2: large scale, yes. On a large scale. Come on, like.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Yes Like there was a group Called Faith No More
- 19:42Speaker 1: And they had one record Where the dude was spitting
- 19:44Speaker 1: on it And like Red Hot Chili Peppers Are doing
- 19:46Speaker 1: a little Rappity type shit But it's definitely Limp Bizkit
- 19:49Speaker 1: And then they had a DJ Premiere beat with fucking
- 19:52Speaker 1: Method Man.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Bro, I gotta, you know what I'm saying? We can't,
- 19:55Speaker 2: I'm not finna overly.
- 19:57Speaker 1: You're about to age yourself right now.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Oh, no, I study everything, like. Young, new, like, you
- 20:03Speaker 2: know what I'm saying?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Hey, shout out to Kalshi, all right? This weekend, my
- 20:06Speaker 1: favorite pick of the week is the Arizona Cardinals. They're
- 20:09Speaker 1: trading at 57% to beat the Giants. That's right. On Kalshi,
- 20:14Speaker 1: you could trade yes or no contracts on real events
- 20:16Speaker 1: in the world, like a football game. So this weekend,
- 20:20Speaker 1: go all in on the Cardinals. That's my pick, my prediction,
- 20:23Speaker 1: if you will. What I am going to trade on
- 20:26Speaker 1: is the Cardinals, and I'm going to make a combo
- 20:28Speaker 1: because on Kalshi, you can do a combo where you
- 20:29Speaker 1: can combine multiple real-world events.
- 20:32Speaker 2: On one thing. For example, Cardinals to win.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I like Jeremiah Love to score, and I like Cam
- 20:40Speaker 1: Scadabo to score on the same combo on Kalshi.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Click the link in our bio.
- 20:46Speaker 1: If you trade $ 25, you're going to get an additional $ 55.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And what's cool about Kalshi, not only can you get down, obviously,
- 20:52Speaker 1: baseball's here, football, but also just real-world events.
- 20:55Speaker 2: For example, I'm telling you what I actually really like.
- 20:59Speaker 1: If you click on the culture tab, icon inside of
- 21:02Speaker 1: calci scroll down and find the nfl halftime show headliner
- 21:08Speaker 1: right now you can Predict at 49% that Jay-Z is
- 21:14Speaker 1: going to be the halftime performer. I feel like it's
- 21:18Speaker 1: obvious Hov's doing the halftime show. So go to Calshi
- 21:21Speaker 1: right now, all right? Make sure you have some fun.
- 21:23Speaker 1: You're trading against other people, not the house. And what's
- 21:26Speaker 1: dope is the market prices show where people are actually
- 21:29Speaker 1: putting their money, all right? So whether it's sports, music, culture, entertainment,
- 21:33Speaker 1: all that, It is fire. Click the link in our
- 21:36Speaker 1: bio right now. First of all, you're going to be
- 21:38Speaker 1: supporting the Bootleg Kev Show if you click that link.
- 21:40Speaker 1: And on top of that, if you trade $ 25, you're
- 21:44Speaker 1: going to get another $ 55. So what do we like?
- 21:46Speaker 1: We like Jay-Z doing a halftime show. I think I
- 21:48Speaker 1: like that. We also like the Cardinals at 57% to
- 21:51Speaker 1: beat the Giants. Come on, man. Let's get back to
- 21:53Speaker 1: the interview right now. I've been seeing a lot of
- 21:56Speaker 1: people say that music videos aren't as important anymore because...
- 22:03Speaker 1: the days of, like, obviously certain artists are always going
- 22:06Speaker 1: to spend a bag on videos, but, like, the days of, like, you, like, spending, like,
- 22:10Speaker 1: as a newer artist or up-and-coming artist, like, $ 30, 000 or
- 22:13Speaker 1: $ 40, 000 on a video just doesn't make sense because the
- 22:15Speaker 1: ROI isn't there. Like, for you, are you– how, like,
- 22:18Speaker 1: important is it for you to make sure you're visually,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I guess, representing the art?
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I do think it's important to– create
- 22:28Speaker 2: the I mean it's an extension of the world you
- 22:30Speaker 2: build in as an.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Artist 100% and I always say it's like a commercial
- 22:33Speaker 1: for your brand.
- 22:34Speaker 2: For sure like I think it's important I think it
- 22:37Speaker 2: like to the people it's still important I think yeah
- 22:40Speaker 2: labels like you said they just don't feel like there's
- 22:42Speaker 2: an ROI on it so they ain't paying for most
- 22:46Speaker 2: folks we see with the five videos like they paying
- 22:48Speaker 2: for some of that shit they.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Sell 100% out of their own pocket or like who
- 22:52Speaker 1: got the.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Best videos like I'm sure like Tyler is like coming
- 22:55Speaker 2: out of pocket for a.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Lot of his shit 100% yeah Yeah, I feel like
- 22:58Speaker 1: the best artists do that, and then they'll come out
- 23:00Speaker 1: of pocket for their big festival performances.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of them people, I mean, the bigger
- 23:06Speaker 2: artists are getting bigger because of that.
- 23:09Speaker 1: You also got to have a great videographer who can
- 23:11Speaker 1: do a lot with a little.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to treat that too, that relationship too.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I feel like you got to treat like a producer
- 23:17Speaker 2: you lock in with, just like building a visual identity. 100%.
- 23:22Speaker 2: If you had to do a joint album with anybody,
- 23:23Speaker 2: who would you do it with? That's a good one.
- 23:28Speaker 2: A few people, Jib for sure. Yeah. I think that'd
- 23:32Speaker 2: probably be the easiest one to do. Oh, y'all got
- 23:34Speaker 2: five joints together? Four joints?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, but we also got like a bunch of- A
- 23:38Speaker 1: whole folder of unreleased stuff just sitting on a hard drive.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah. I actually probably shouldn't have said that. They're going
- 23:44Speaker 2: to be mad. It's fine. It's implied. You got five
- 23:47Speaker 2: songs with somebody. Yeah, facts. Yeah. Paris, Texas, my guys,
- 23:53Speaker 2: just because they like, I feel like we like Kendrick
- 23:55Speaker 2: Spears as far as like the alternative.
- 23:57Speaker 1: They're super dope.
- 23:58Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 23:59Speaker 1: I saw them open for Tyler.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:00Speaker 1: And they were really dope.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah. And they just the homies too. So I feel like, again,
- 24:04Speaker 2: like it'd just be like a natural thing. Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 1: You said that this album saved your life. How did
- 24:10Speaker 1: Bulldog save your life?
- 24:12Speaker 2: I feel like it kind of forced me to like
- 24:14Speaker 2: accept my like artist identity. You know, like I feel
- 24:18Speaker 2: like there was like a lot of forces trying to
- 24:22Speaker 2: kind of devalue me. you know what I'm saying, like, externally, like,
- 24:26Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, a lot of it is, like,
- 24:28Speaker 2: my own, it was my own insecurities, per se, or, like,
- 24:32Speaker 2: my own, like, negative thoughts about, like, who I was
- 24:37Speaker 2: and my purpose and stuff, and making this album was
- 24:40Speaker 2: kind of a, like, a affirmation, a big affirmation of, like,
- 24:44Speaker 2: why I still do what I do, you know what
- 24:46Speaker 2: I'm saying, because, you know, it's like, comparison is a
- 24:49Speaker 2: thief of joy and all of that stuff, and I
- 24:51Speaker 2: feel like a lot of artists feel that way, too, of, like,
- 24:55Speaker 2: the world is kind of trying to devalue you. Everything
- 24:57Speaker 2: is about numbers. Everything is about optics. Everything is about, like,
- 24:59Speaker 2: comparing yourself to this person who's got this whole type
- 25:03Speaker 2: of setup that you don't even fucking realize, you know
- 25:05Speaker 2: what I'm saying? So I feel like it was kind
- 25:06Speaker 2: of like a big, like, manifesto or like a promise
- 25:09Speaker 2: to myself of, like, this is why I do this
- 25:11Speaker 2: shit and, like, you know, like, I'm going to be, like,
- 25:15Speaker 2: myself no matter what.
- 25:16Speaker 1: For you, because I've seen it happen, like, I can
- 25:20Speaker 1: only imagine if you're an artist who kind of doesn't
- 25:22Speaker 1: fit in a, box if you will you do get
- 25:26Speaker 1: a lot of external pressure the label saying yo you're
- 25:29Speaker 1: from atlanta do a record with this person yeah or
- 25:31Speaker 1: hey we want to get you in with this producer
- 25:33Speaker 1: because this producer makes the trap atlanta shit or whatever
- 25:36Speaker 1: it is do you start to kind of like second
- 25:39Speaker 1: guess like am i doing the right shit like am
- 25:44Speaker 1: i am i like is the music because if you're
- 25:46Speaker 1: making the music you love i feel like that's all
- 25:48Speaker 1: that matters and you'll get the best art out of
- 25:50Speaker 1: that But did you ever, were you ever like tempted
- 25:52Speaker 1: to chase sounds or chase?
- 25:54Speaker 2: A hundred percent. Everybody is. Like, I feel like everybody like,
- 25:57Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying? Get that little bug of like, man,
- 26:01Speaker 2: this what everybody got down doing. So if I do
- 26:03Speaker 2: this shit, it'd be like a quick bag or whatever. But,
- 26:06Speaker 2: but that's what I mean about Bulldog. Like the bravery
- 26:08Speaker 2: to like, not necessarily succumb to that and like find
- 26:11Speaker 2: your way, like find your purpose. Like, cause trust me, bro.
- 26:14Speaker 2: Like I love money, bro. I fuck with money. Like
- 26:16Speaker 2: I like having money. I like having big songs and
- 26:18Speaker 2: shit like that. But, That's like a beast that's always hungry.
- 26:22Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? So, like, how long are
- 26:23Speaker 2: you going to feed it? Are you going to lose
- 26:25Speaker 2: yourself in that? You know what I'm saying? Was the
- 26:27Speaker 2: 7-Eleven record kind of like you addressing those feelings? A
- 26:30Speaker 2: hundred percent. Like, bro, if you... No matter how fire
- 26:34Speaker 2: you is, like, the industry don't necessarily have an incentive
- 26:39Speaker 2: to reward somebody for being good at what they do or, like,
- 26:42Speaker 2: even loving what they do or even the knowledge... acknowledging
- 26:46Speaker 2: the amount of people that love what you do, it's
- 26:48Speaker 2: just literally, like, it's this number doing what this number
- 26:51Speaker 2: is supposed to do for us. Yeah. And I'm not, like,
- 26:54Speaker 2: label bashing, because that's, like, how any business is supposed
- 26:57Speaker 2: to be. Right. But I do think, like, for your
- 27:00Speaker 2: artist sanity, you got to check in with yourself of, like,
- 27:03Speaker 2: why the fuck am I doing this, you know what
- 27:05Speaker 2: I'm saying? Like, beyond money, because it's, like, anybody can
- 27:08Speaker 2: do that shit. Well, I think, too. And that's why, like,
- 27:10Speaker 2: AI art and all that shit is doing that shit,
- 27:12Speaker 2: because it's, like, Nigga, there's some shit that can generate
- 27:15Speaker 2: money while we do nothing.
- 27:17Speaker 1: It literally costs nothing to make. It's kind of crazy.
- 27:20Speaker 1: It's like the AI shit, I feel like the.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Labels are saying that they're going to fight against it
- 27:25Speaker 2: like some are. They're full of shit. Yeah, come on. Like, it's... Yeah.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Wait, you mean you can get some free work out
- 27:33Speaker 1: of this sono? You know what I'm saying?
- 27:34Speaker 2: It's like the best case scenario for like a corporation.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I ain't going to lie.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Also, like, we've been getting... primed for this through Hollywood, man.
- 27:42Speaker 1: We had that Artificial Intelligence movie with Lil Bruh in
- 27:45Speaker 1: it and Will Smith, you know what I'm saying?
- 27:46Speaker 2: Now you're getting tip for a hat. Yeah. No, I'm
- 27:48Speaker 2: in it. I'm in it.
- 27:49Speaker 1: No, but I do think, even if you think of
- 27:51Speaker 1: the Sonos shit, because I think producers, I know some
- 27:54Speaker 1: producers who will think of an idea for a sample
- 27:59Speaker 1: and instead of like, I guess you can't really dig
- 28:03Speaker 1: for a specific lyric.
- 28:04Speaker 2: It's too tempting. It's because it's just right there and
- 28:08Speaker 2: it's immediate. If you're a producer and it's like, it's
- 28:12Speaker 2: going to cost 20 bands, 30 bands to clear this sample.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Or you can just go here and, yo, make me
- 28:17Speaker 2: type this prompt and make me this type of vibe
- 28:19Speaker 2: and then you can sample it. It's like, it's too tempting.
- 28:22Speaker 1: If you find out your producer's using AI for their beats,
- 28:27Speaker 1: are you out?
- 28:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it sucks to do the right thing sometimes. It does, man.
- 28:33Speaker 2: We got to save the fucking power bills and the water, dog.
- 28:36Speaker 2: I guess I'm just standing on, for me, like, musically,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I'm standing on, like, it all being an organic thing. Like,
- 28:43Speaker 2: that's my brand.
- 28:44Speaker 1: And like, this is your livelihood. So if like, if
- 28:48Speaker 1: the producer can replace the bro who sends loops, somebody's
- 28:53Speaker 1: gonna end up replacing the motherfucker rapping.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like a rat race. Yeah. You know what
- 28:58Speaker 2: I'm saying? Like, somebody gotta, somebody gotta be the one
- 29:01Speaker 2: to be like, nah, I'ma stand on this and not
- 29:03Speaker 2: do it and that'll be my brand. You know what
- 29:05Speaker 2: I'm saying? Y'all probably get rich faster than me, but
- 29:08Speaker 2: I have my like, I have my stream of money
- 29:12Speaker 2: the way I do it, and I won't feel like
- 29:14Speaker 2: a dickhead, I guess.
- 29:15Speaker 1: I feel like you have hard ticket sales. You have
- 29:19Speaker 1: fans who really show up for you.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Well, that's the optimistic, I guess, part of it. I
- 29:24Speaker 2: know whatever fucking AI revolution happens, there's going to be
- 29:29Speaker 2: an equal and opposite cultural thing of people wanting live
- 29:32Speaker 2: music and physical media that's equal. You already know, Arizona, man.
- 29:36Speaker 2: The Bootleg Head Podcast brought to you by our partners
- 29:39Speaker 2: at Rafi.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Group. Now, we love Raffy Law Group, man. Arizona's premier
- 29:43Speaker 1: personal injury firm. What I love about Raffy is they're
- 29:46Speaker 1: so dependable, so trustworthy, and they get the job done.
- 29:48Speaker 1: They've helped over 70,000 Arizonans. I know you see the
- 29:53Speaker 1: billboards everywhere. I know you can't avoid seeing my man
- 29:56Speaker 1: Raffy's face everywhere, but it's because he is the absolute best,
- 30:00Speaker 1: all right? He's helped my wife get through an accident situation,
- 30:03Speaker 1: got her paid, my mother-in-law. same situation my best friend's
- 30:07Speaker 1: parents just used raffi and got a big payday so
- 30:10Speaker 1: make sure if you get into an accident if you
- 30:12Speaker 1: need help all right it could be an accident it
- 30:15Speaker 1: could be a slip and fall it could be any
- 30:16Speaker 1: personal injury situation they're gonna take care of it all
- 30:20Speaker 1: right All you got to do is call Rafi. You
- 30:22Speaker 1: know what it is, man.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Call Rafi. 623-388-4333. Rafi Law Group.
- 30:28Speaker 1: The only personal injury law firm that we will ever
- 30:31Speaker 1: rock with right here on the Blue Lake Head podcast. Dude,
- 30:34Speaker 1: I'm so glad I was just telling my wife this
- 30:36Speaker 1: because she was trying to get me to sell all
- 30:37Speaker 1: my DVDs and Blu-rays because I have a lot in storage.
- 30:40Speaker 2: And I was like, I was like, look, we own
- 30:43Speaker 2: this shit.
- 30:45Speaker 1: One of the streaming apps, I think it's Prime, but
- 30:50Speaker 1: they took away movies from a certain company that you
- 30:52Speaker 1: bought because their deal with them, like they couldn't come
- 30:54Speaker 1: to an agreement. So I, I bought like some movies
- 30:58Speaker 1: that I didn't have access to anymore.
- 30:59Speaker 2: My conspiracy theory theory. Yeah. Conspiracy theory.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Put the tinfoil hat on.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Let's go. Yeah. It's going to be like, there's going
- 31:06Speaker 2: to be something happens where there's like a great erasure
- 31:10Speaker 2: of like the cloud. Yeah. Yeah. Brother already. Yeah. I'm
- 31:16Speaker 2: just like classic shit. Out of some great attempt to
- 31:23Speaker 2: rewrite a narrative about- Rewrite history? You know what I'm saying?
- 31:26Speaker 2: I be thinking about this type of shit. We don't
- 31:28Speaker 2: even know what type of genre. We don't really have
- 31:31Speaker 2: a record of all the type of genres there were
- 31:35Speaker 2: 100 years ago. You know what I'm saying? I don't know.
- 31:39Speaker 2: I just be thinking about the artists that, for whatever reason-
- 31:44Speaker 2: got erased. We just have to believe whatever museums tell us, basically.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it sucks, too, because even on the smaller side,
- 31:53Speaker 1: on the hip-hop side, all the BET.com articles got erased.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:57Speaker 1: All the hip-hop DX articles got erased. All of our
- 32:01Speaker 1: blogs that we had in the blog era, they're not
- 32:04Speaker 1: there anymore. If you go to 2dopeboys. com, it's just a
- 32:07Speaker 1: landing page now, and you're like, damn, what if I
- 32:09Speaker 1: wanted to go To see what you guys posted in 2010.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so I can't find the first, like, what, Kendrick
- 32:18Speaker 2: Lamar article on two dead boys. That's fucked up. But
- 32:23Speaker 2: I'm saying it's like somebody, I feel like... It's historic.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's just in the hip-hop space. So imagine, like,
- 32:29Speaker 1: in the big picture shit, motherfuckers is really going to, like,
- 32:32Speaker 1: slowly start deleting shit. So it's like, hey, in 50 years,
- 32:35Speaker 1: the narrative is what we tell you the narrative is.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Or it's like, shit... even more tinfoil. They can
- 32:42Speaker 2: fucking change the movie. Shout out to like, they can
- 32:43Speaker 2: change the shit and it's like, no, the original version
- 32:46Speaker 2: was like this. You know what I'm saying?
- 32:47Speaker 1: Which is what they do anyway.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Yeah, type. So it's like.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no, for sure. We, it's, yeah, yeah, no. Shout
- 32:53Speaker 1: out to the tinfoil hats. We're here. Um, what, what
- 32:56Speaker 1: is your, are you a big movie guy?
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:59Speaker 1: What's, what's your, uh, like favorite movie? I know you
- 33:01Speaker 1: got a song called Pulp Fiction. Are you a Pulp
- 33:03Speaker 1: Fiction guy? What's your, what's your favorite movies? Yeah, I
- 33:05Speaker 1: fuck with Pulp Fiction for sure. I mean, I like
- 33:07Speaker 1: all like Tarantino stuff. Um, My favorite, probably all-time favorite
- 33:13Speaker 1: movie is probably Interstellar.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I love Interstellar, man. Yeah.
- 33:17Speaker 1: McConaughey goes crazy.
- 33:19Speaker 2: I saw it on accident. I was supposed to go
- 33:22Speaker 2: see Jurassic Park with my mama. Okay. And we went
- 33:28Speaker 2: to the wrong theater.
- 33:29Speaker 1: Lucky you.
- 33:30Speaker 2: And I know that. I know the movie was super fire. One,
- 33:33Speaker 2: because I was about to shed a tear. But two,
- 33:35Speaker 2: my mama didn't like it. That's how I knew it
- 33:36Speaker 2: was fire.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Your mom's probably like my wife. My wife likes nothing good.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:42Speaker 1: She wants to watch, like, fucking.
- 33:44Speaker 2: My mama want to watch, like, Tyler Perry movies.
- 33:46Speaker 1: I was literally about to say, my wife wants to
- 33:48Speaker 1: watch Tyler Perry movies.
- 33:49Speaker 2: Yeah, fact.
- 33:50Speaker 1: I literally was going to say, like, she's like, Tyler Perry,
- 33:53Speaker 1: slasher flicks, and Friends.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Or, like, my mama want to watch, like, King Kong
- 33:58Speaker 2: versus like Mechagodzilla. Yes, like dumb shit. Shit like that, yeah.
- 34:02Speaker 1: She'd be like, yo, put that rock movie on where
- 34:04Speaker 1: he's like falling into a volcano.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Yeah, shit like that. Jumanji. Yes.
- 34:09Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I'm like, yo, let's watch.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Yo, let me tell you about this movie, Memento.
- 34:14Speaker 2: It's backwards.
- 34:15Speaker 1: It's kind of crazy.
- 34:16Speaker 2: This is fucking stupid. I'm like, no, it's not. It's amazing.
- 34:20Speaker 1: So, Interstellar.
- 34:21Speaker 2: Great movie. Christopher Nolan is a G. Yeah, yeah. He's
- 34:24Speaker 2: the one.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Have you watched True Detective season one with Matthew McConaughey
- 34:28Speaker 1: and Woody Harrelson?
- 34:29Speaker 2: I watched it like a long time ago. I barely remember.
- 34:32Speaker 2: We were just talking about all the detective shows and
- 34:35Speaker 2: shit like that. That's the one. Only that one season, though.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Mersha Ali, season three, Mersha Ali comes back, or he
- 34:40Speaker 1: comes in it, and it's pretty good, but season one,
- 34:43Speaker 1: it's standalone.
- 34:44Speaker 2: I really fucked with Dexter.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Oh, up until, listen, Dexter, I was there when it
- 34:50Speaker 1: was happening.
- 34:50Speaker 2: I didn't catch it on Netflix.
- 34:52Speaker 1: I had it on DVD. Still have it on DVD, unfortunately. Well,
- 34:55Speaker 1: or fortunately, depending on if your theory comes through. Anything
- 35:00Speaker 1: after season four I'm out on, though. Season four of
- 35:02Speaker 1: Dexter is one of the greatest television seasons of all time.
- 35:06Speaker 1: When the Trinity killer.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Kills his wife. Yes.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Holy shit.
- 35:09Speaker 2: No. Classic. After that, it goes off the rails. I
- 35:14Speaker 2: might not have even watched it after that.
- 35:15Speaker 1: No, you probably did.
- 35:16Speaker 2: It just, it goes off the rails. Mm-hmm. The Trinity Killer,
- 35:20Speaker 2: that bro, John Lithgow, forget about it. Such a good
- 35:23Speaker 2: fucking show. Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 1: Did you watch the spinoffs? Like, they got Dexter New Blood.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Oh, no, I didn't watch any of the spinoffs.
- 35:30Speaker 1: No, the spinoffs are not bad.
- 35:31Speaker 2: Really?
- 35:32Speaker 1: There's three spinoffs that all have the original. Well, Dexter
- 35:36Speaker 1: New Blood, fast forwards, because he survived, and then his
- 35:39Speaker 1: son finds him in, like, Alaska.
- 35:43Speaker 2: What? It's good.
- 35:45Speaker 1: The one I didn't watch was the flashback one, which
- 35:47Speaker 1: is like, it just takes place with him and his
- 35:49Speaker 1: dad when he's a kid.
- 35:50Speaker 2: That's a prequel, yeah. Okay.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Didn't get into the prequel. And then there's a new,
- 35:54Speaker 1: new one that I heard is fire.
- 35:56Speaker 2: All right. Dexter's dope, man. I had to check him out.
- 35:59Speaker 2: You know what trips me out is all my, like,
- 36:00Speaker 2: I found out that motherfucker's from England. Yeah. It's like,
- 36:04Speaker 2: you watch your favorite shows and then you watch these interviews.
- 36:06Speaker 2: It's like, what's up?
- 36:07Speaker 1: Everybody in the UK is getting shit cracking out here, bro.
- 36:10Speaker 2: I feel like that's like a thing. We got to like,
- 36:12Speaker 2: we got to come hard. Breath of Snowfall. Yeah, like.
- 36:15Speaker 1: English as fuck.
- 36:16Speaker 2: UK actors is kind of like... I feel like the
- 36:19Speaker 2: film in general, too, is kind of shitting on us
- 36:21Speaker 2: over here. Did you watch Odyssey? Nah, I ain't seen
- 36:23Speaker 2: it yet. I want to see it in IMAX.
- 36:25Speaker 1: That's the only reason... Literally, I only want to see
- 36:28Speaker 1: it that way, and it's sold out.
- 36:29Speaker 2: You can book that until, like, fucking November or some shit. Facts. Yeah.
- 36:33Speaker 1: And I'm, like, the only person in my life, because
- 36:35Speaker 1: everybody else just went and saw it. I'm like, no, no,
- 36:36Speaker 1: you got to see it with a certain millimeter in
- 36:39Speaker 1: the IMAX.
- 36:39Speaker 2: I'm with that. However, the director told me I got
- 36:42Speaker 2: to see it.
- 36:42Speaker 1: What about Spider-Man? Did you see the new Spider-Man?
- 36:44Speaker 2: For sure. First day. I don't watch that either. I
- 36:46Speaker 2: don't know why. You don't fuck with Spider-Man?
- 36:48Speaker 1: No, I do.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I just, for whatever reason. I think it's the best one.
- 36:52Speaker 2: I've heard that.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Now, do you think he's the best Spider-Man?
- 36:55Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Unpopular opinion. I actually think the unpopular opinion is Xander Garfield.
- 37:01Speaker 2: What?
- 37:03Speaker 1: I think The Amazing Spider-Man won. I think Andrew Garfield
- 37:05Speaker 1: is the best Spider-Man. Now, he's not in the best
- 37:07Speaker 1: Spider-Man movies.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Nah, bro. He's too cool.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Just like Robert Pattinson, to me, is the best Batman.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Because The Batman is the most realistic depiction of what
- 37:18Speaker 1: Batman would be like in a real world setting.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I think Robert Pattinson has the best Batman performance ever.
- 37:24Speaker 2: think the best batman movies.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Yeah no no but it's different conversation yeah yeah because
- 37:28Speaker 1: the amazing spider-man 2 was horrible jamie foxx i would
- 37:31Speaker 1: never look at.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Jamie but i mean i'm not gonna lie like andrew
- 37:33Speaker 2: garfield he's too he's too cool for me like i
- 37:36Speaker 2: need my peter parker to be nerdy as fuck.
- 37:38Speaker 1: And he felt like a little kid like tom holland
- 37:41Speaker 1: you know one of his gifts is he looks like
- 37:42Speaker 1: he's 12 yeah so yeah zen day got the same
- 37:47Speaker 1: shit so when they're playing high school kids you're like
- 37:48Speaker 1: i believe it like yeah euphoria you're like jesus.
- 37:51Speaker 2: But yeah i just feel like the Peter Parker was
- 37:54Speaker 2: supposed to have that awkwardness. You know what I'm saying?
- 37:57Speaker 2: He's not supposed to be all like, Andrew Garfield, like swag.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Did you watch the new Resident Evil?
- 38:02Speaker 2: Nah. I don't know.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Are you a gamer?
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'm not even really up on the Resident Evil movies
- 38:06Speaker 2: and shit like I should be. Did you play the game?
- 38:08Speaker 2: I think I played the game when I was a kid, yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Like fucking 2000, what, 2007? It's great. Yeah. I got
- 38:15Speaker 2: to tap in. Yeah, yeah. I mean, don't play the game.
- 38:18Speaker 2: You don't have time. Don't play the game? I mean,
- 38:20Speaker 2: play the game if you have like a month. Yeah,
- 38:24Speaker 2: I'm blocking out the whole month for GTA for sure. Yeah,
- 38:28Speaker 2: the GTA thing is going to fuck a lot of
- 38:30Speaker 2: lives up. Yeah.
- 38:32Speaker 1: I'm like a little worried because I haven't beat a
- 38:35Speaker 1: game in like a decade. I buy them all.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You're too busy.
- 38:40Speaker 1: Exactly. I'm like a person who like, I even do
- 38:45Speaker 1: that shit with shows, but I haven't beat a game
- 38:49Speaker 1: in so long because I'll be like, yeah, it's fun,
- 38:52Speaker 1: but then I just never touch it again.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 1: But like GTA, I feel like it's the entry point
- 39:00Speaker 1: to us ending up like Ready Player One.
- 39:02Speaker 2: For sure. I'm fucking with it, though. Like motherfuckers are
- 39:06Speaker 2: going to have jobs in that game. Yeah.
- 39:08Speaker 1: They're going to be morbidly obese in real life. They're
- 39:12Speaker 1: going to be morbidly obese, like literally 10 steps away
- 39:15Speaker 1: from death.
- 39:16Speaker 2: Yeah. But in the game, they're going to work out
- 39:19Speaker 2: every day and be swole as fuck. That is dark. No,
- 39:23Speaker 2: because that's a thing in the new game.
- 39:24Speaker 1: In the new game, depending on if you work out
- 39:27Speaker 1: in the game, your guy looks different.
- 39:29Speaker 2: It is dystopian when you describe it that way.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Just imagine some fat fuck. He's got fat Cheeto fingers.
- 39:37Speaker 1: He's playing, just screaming at his fucking mom for the
- 39:42Speaker 1: Hot Pockets. But he's watching his character on GTA 5.
- 39:47Speaker 1: fucking do push-ups, and he's like, fuck yeah, I'm gonna
- 39:49Speaker 1: get these bitches.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Bruh.
- 39:51Speaker 1: No, it's gonna happen.
- 39:52Speaker 2: It's gonna happen. I heard you can have a girlfriend
- 39:55Speaker 2: in the game, too. Bro, I'm telling you, these motherfuckers
- 39:58Speaker 2: are gonna be fucking.
- 39:59Speaker 1: Hey, you know what? It might be a good thing.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Maybe they'll stop shooting up schools and churches and shit.
- 40:04Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 40:05Speaker 2: In the game? No, in real life. Oh, shit. There's
- 40:08Speaker 2: a lot of these lonely bruhs. What do they call them?
- 40:11Speaker 2: What do they call them? Incels. Oh, yeah, incels. Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 2: give them all GTA.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 40:16Speaker 2: GTA in the virtual suit that makes them feel like
- 40:18Speaker 2: they're getting some real pussy. Anyway. Well, listen, man.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Your new album is out.
- 40:23Speaker 2: It is called Bulldog. Yeah. Safe to say we won't.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Be getting a lot going on for you in November
- 40:29Speaker 1: as you'll be on GTA.
- 40:31Speaker 2: November I'm out of commission, but I'm coming right back.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I'll drop all the new stuff before then. I got
- 40:36Speaker 2: some new shit coming before then in October.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so you do have new shit coming?
- 40:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we got new songs coming. We got vinyls coming,
- 40:42Speaker 2: and I'll be doing pop-ups for the vinyls. The vinyl
- 40:45Speaker 2: shit's important. Yeah, it's my first time dropping vinyl.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Are you doing the limited run thing where you have like, yo,
- 40:52Speaker 1: if you get this one, you get the splatter with
- 40:53Speaker 1: the fucking Japanese writing and it's like there's only 200
- 40:57Speaker 1: of them.
- 40:57Speaker 2: They've been waiting on vinyls for like six years, so
- 41:00Speaker 2: I'm just going to let them have it.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Are you going to do all the old stuff too?
- 41:04Speaker 2: Eventually. Right now we're just doing Bulldog, but I'll eventually
- 41:08Speaker 2: get to that.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Just do what The Alchemist does. You've got to go
- 41:12Speaker 1: like general release.
- 41:14Speaker 1: So that's for everybody. Just the black record. Then you
- 41:17Speaker 1: got to do like four limited runs of like different artwork. Bro,
- 41:23Speaker 1: I'm telling you.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Like, ALC has figured it out. Him and Freddie, when
- 41:27Speaker 2: they do that Alfredo.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Shit, there's like 12 different fucking vinyl versions that drop
- 41:31Speaker 1: and motherfuckers, they all sell the fuck out.
- 41:33Speaker 2: They like the kings of that shit for sure.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Al is definitely the king of the vinyl game.
- 41:37Speaker 1: Him and Shots of West Side Gun and Makami too
- 41:40Speaker 1: is incredible. Melissa, man, go support the album. Appreciate you
- 41:43Speaker 1: pulling up.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Tour coming? We finished tour in June.
- 41:48Speaker 1: You were on some Monster Energy shit, right? Was that
- 41:50Speaker 1: like two years ago?
- 41:51Speaker 2: Three years ago? Did we do some Monster shit? Red
- 41:54Speaker 2: Bull or something? We did. Only thing I can think
- 41:57Speaker 2: of is Red Bull with Denzel.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Maybe it was the Red Bull thing.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Yeah. I saw you with the Energy Drink logo somewhere
- 42:02Speaker 2: on a flyer. Might have been. There's that.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Well, listen, Kenny, I appreciate you pulling up, man.
