- 0:00Speaker 1: Previously on The Chosen People.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Let us craft creatures in our image, imbued with our essence.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Let us make man as an image of God, to
- 0:12Speaker 2: steward the fish of the sea, birds of the air,
- 0:17Speaker 2: and creatures of the earth.
- 0:20Speaker 3: It's beautiful.
- 0:22Speaker 2: This is the tree of life. Its fruit is a gift,
- 0:27Speaker 2: a gift to be cherished forever. It is the life
- 0:31Speaker 2: I offer you. A life of unity with me. This
- 0:39Speaker 2: is the tree of knowledge. The knowledge of good and evil.
- 0:46Speaker 2: You may eat of every tree in this garden, but
- 0:50Speaker 2: the tree of knowledge of good and evil you shall
- 0:55Speaker 2: not eat.
- 0:56Speaker 3: What will happen if I do?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Knowledge of good and evil, which leads to evil itself.
- 1:05Speaker 2: While the tree of life brings eternal life, the knowledge
- 1:09Speaker 2: of evil brings death.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Adam, over here!
- 1:18Speaker 1: Eve hopped from one stone to another, her feet perfectly
- 1:23Speaker 1: balanced despite the wet moss lacing the rocks. The falls roared,
- 1:29Speaker 1: nearly drowning out her voice.
- 1:32Speaker 3: We're almost there. Come on, catch up.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Adam took a moment to catch his breath, but he
- 1:38Speaker 1: lost his breath again when he saw Eve's hair blowing
- 1:42Speaker 1: with the fall's wind. Adam smirked, pivoted his foot back,
- 1:47Speaker 1: then burst with strength and speed. He launched off a
- 1:51Speaker 1: stone with one leg onto another, leaping across the stream
- 1:55Speaker 1: and onto the wet stone. He jumped straight up, grabbing
- 1:59Speaker 1: a ledge and pulling himself up with his shoulders and arms.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Water from the floors fell onto his back and dripped
- 2:07Speaker 1: down his waist and legs. He breathed in the fresh air,
- 2:11Speaker 1: then made the final few strides to the summit.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Took you long enough.
- 2:21Speaker 5: I was just enjoying the view.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I don't know what's more beautiful. These falls, surrounded by flowers?
- 2:29Speaker 6: Or you?
- 2:31Speaker 1: Eve blushed and leaned closer to Adam. He playfully and
- 2:35Speaker 1: swiftly kissed Eve on the cheek and leaped past her.
- 2:39Speaker 1: He grabbed onto a root and swung to another rock
- 2:42Speaker 1: five feet across.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Now you have to catch up! Challenge accepted!
- 2:50Speaker 1: Adam ran up the slope leading to the Tree of Life.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Its leaves glowed with a brilliance matching the sun. Adam's
- 2:59Speaker 1: legs moved effortlessly over the enormous roots curling to its base.
- 3:04Speaker 1: He dashed to the trunk and climbed smaller branches coiling
- 3:08Speaker 1: upward to the fruit. He sat on a branch, taking
- 3:12Speaker 1: in the view with fruit in hand. Eve sat beside him,
- 3:17Speaker 1: head resting gently on his shoulder. The two of them ate,
- 3:21Speaker 1: laughed and basked in the presence of God His goodness
- 3:26Speaker 1: was all around them, expressed in the sun's golden rays
- 3:30Speaker 1: and the fruit's life-giving nourishment. Their naked bodies were exposed
- 3:35Speaker 1: to each other in the elements, but there was no
- 3:38Speaker 1: shame or pain, nothing to hide, nothing to fear. God
- 3:44Speaker 1: walked in their midst.
- 3:45Speaker 2: He was near. He was present.
- 3:49Speaker 1: They were in perfect harmony with the earth, each other,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and the Creator. Adam pointed to an open meadow exposed
- 3:58Speaker 1: in a tree break. Eve watched a smirk curl on
- 4:02Speaker 1: the sides of his lips as he explained his plans.
- 4:06Speaker 3: See that plot of land tucked between the forest and
- 4:09Speaker 3: the stream? I'm going to take some of the berry
- 4:12Speaker 3: seeds and plant them there.
- 4:14Speaker 4: How are you going to do that?
- 4:16Speaker 3: The better the soil, the easier the seed will grow. First,
- 4:21Speaker 3: I'll gather some of the softer earth. and waste from
- 4:24Speaker 3: the animals. Then I'll take some branches and cross them
- 4:28Speaker 3: over each other. I'll secure them together with vines so
- 4:32Speaker 3: they stay place. I'll put them all over the planted seeds,
- 4:36Speaker 3: and when the vines grow, they'll latch onto them and
- 4:39Speaker 3: grow neatly so we can pick them.
- 4:43Speaker 4: But we already have all the fruit we need in
- 4:46Speaker 4: the garden.
- 4:47Speaker 3: But that doesn't mean we can't expand. God has commissioned
- 4:50Speaker 3: us to press the boundaries and multiply.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yes, multiply.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Adam, imagine more of us here. This world is ours
- 5:03Speaker 3: to fill.
- 5:04Speaker 1: This was their calling, to cultivate the land and multiply.
- 5:09Speaker 1: The earth was theirs to subdue and rule over as
- 5:13Speaker 1: God's stewards. The garden was theirs to grow and glean from.
- 5:18Speaker 1: Eve's eyes burst with curiosity and excitement. She saw all
- 5:23Speaker 1: the potential in the land, the future filled with children
- 5:27Speaker 1: and grandchildren.
- 5:29Speaker 4: I'll help you. I can gather the seeds. Oh, we
- 5:33Speaker 4: can also dig a path from the stream so they
- 5:35Speaker 4: get enough water.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Eve scrunched her nose and held Adam's face.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Let's go see it now.
- 5:43Speaker 1: She hopped off the tree. and skipped down the grassy
- 5:46Speaker 1: path leading back into the forest. Eve darted into the
- 5:51Speaker 1: part of the woods untouched by sunlight. It was damp,
- 5:55Speaker 1: with vines stretching from branch to branch. Adam called out
- 5:59Speaker 1: from a distance.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Eve!
- 6:02Speaker 5: Wait up!
- 6:05Speaker 4: Come find me, Adam!
- 6:07Speaker 2: Where are you?
- 6:09Speaker 1: Eve giggled and danced in the shadows. Her feet twirled
- 6:14Speaker 1: over roots and stones. Her hair rose and fell with
- 6:18Speaker 1: each playful pirouette. She danced on the moss, but stopped
- 6:23Speaker 1: when she heard a faint whisper echoing from the shadows.
- 6:27Speaker 1: She tilted her head and peered into the darkness. A
- 6:32Speaker 1: faint glow came from one of the roots. It pulsed
- 6:36Speaker 1: upward like a heartbeat. The roots were thick, intertwining into
- 6:40Speaker 1: thicker sections. Eve followed the roots to their source. The
- 6:45Speaker 1: tree's trunk was thick and braided like serpents coiling around
- 6:50Speaker 1: each other. They glowed faint red and purple, like veins
- 6:55Speaker 1: pumping blood to the tree's heart. The branches shot outward
- 6:59Speaker 1: and down, making its fruit low for picking. The fruit
- 7:03Speaker 1: was a deep crimson and perfect for one's palm. Eve
- 7:08Speaker 1: was drawn to it. She hadn't yet learned to fear.
- 7:12Speaker 1: If she had, then she would have been terrified. Her
- 7:16Speaker 1: body tensed with every step as she inched closer to it.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Eve heard the whisper again. The sound trickled from the
- 7:25Speaker 1: branches like a small stream. She scanned the tree. Weaving
- 7:30Speaker 1: through the coils of the trunk was a brilliantly colored serpent.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Its bright scales radiated with a similar shine as the trees.
- 7:40Speaker 1: It shone as if covered with every precious stone, sardius, topaz, diamond, beryl, onyx, jasper, sapphire, emerald,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and carbuncle. The edge of its body was crafted like gold.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Eve was mesmerized. She approached the serpent and innocently gazed.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Up at it.
- 8:02Speaker 6: What are you?
- 8:05Speaker 1: The creature responded with an indecipherable hiss. Its voice was
- 8:10Speaker 1: like the echoes of a thousand whispers. Eve could no
- 8:14Speaker 1: longer see it, but she could hear it.
- 8:18Speaker 5: I was going to ask you the same question. Who
- 8:25Speaker 5: are you?
- 8:26Speaker 1: I'm Eve.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Ah.
- 8:33Speaker 6: One of God's Image bearers. What an honor to be
- 8:41Speaker 6: in your presence. So elegant. So powerful.
- 8:52Speaker 5: It's a shame God has held so much back from you.
- 8:59Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 9:01Speaker 1: Slowly and methodically. The serpent's head emerged from the leaves.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Its eyes gleamed red like a blood moon. They held
- 9:10Speaker 1: a dark canyon in the center, deep, mysterious, and haunting.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Its long tail draped over the branches, caressing the crimson fruit.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Didn't God say you couldn't eat from any tree in
- 9:25Speaker 5: the garden? No.
- 9:29Speaker 4: God allows us to eat all the fruit in the garden.
- 9:32Speaker 4: It's just this one we can't eat.
- 9:34Speaker 3: We can't even touch it or we'll.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Die.
- 9:42Speaker 6: Die?
- 9:43Speaker 5: Oh, my dear. You won't die. Do I look dead
- 9:50Speaker 5: to you? God doesn't want you to eat it. Because
- 9:55Speaker 5: if you do, your eyes will... be opened. My eyes
- 10:02Speaker 5: will be opened?
- 10:03Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 10:05Speaker 5: God is a petty and jealous one, isn't he? He knows.
- 10:13Speaker 5: If you eat this fruit, your eyes... Of the universe.
- 10:24Speaker 5: You'll have knowledge. You'll have power. You'll be like God himself.
- 10:34Speaker 5: Like God?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Eve examined the fruit. Dew dripped from its smooth skin.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It looked delicious and inviting. How could something so beautiful
- 10:46Speaker 1: be dangerous?
- 10:48Speaker 5: Eve reached up for the fruit.
- 10:50Speaker 1: The serpent coiled its tail around one of the branches
- 10:54Speaker 1: and bent it closer to Eve. She recoiled for a moment,
- 10:58Speaker 1: then reached again.
- 11:01Speaker 5: I can be like God. Knowledgeable.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Powerful.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Yes.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Eve was inches away from the fruit. Her heart beat
- 11:15Speaker 1: in tandem with the pulsing roots. Adam finally caught up
- 11:19Speaker 1: with her and stopped at the tree's shadow.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Eve, what are you doing?
- 11:25Speaker 1: But it was too late. Eve's fingers touched the fruit.
- 11:30Speaker 1: She waited to see what would happen.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 11:34Speaker 1: She felt the same. Her eyes gleamed with anxious curiosity.
- 11:39Speaker 1: She plucked the fruit and held it firmly in her palm.
- 11:43Speaker 1: She looked at Adam.
- 11:45Speaker 4: Maybe it was a lie after all.
- 11:52Speaker 3: We could be like God.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Eve stroked the fruit. Adam was frozen. He knew he
- 12:01Speaker 1: should stop Eve. He knew he should smack it out
- 12:04Speaker 1: of her hand. But he was drawn by a similar curiosity.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Could he really be like God? Would this fruit unlock
- 12:13Speaker 1: something withheld from him? Eve raised the fruit to her lips. Then,
- 12:19Speaker 1: as a decisive act to claim autonomy from her creator,
- 12:22Speaker 1: Eve took a bite from the fruit. Dark red juices
- 12:28Speaker 1: dripped down her mouth and chin. It stained her hands
- 12:32Speaker 1: a dark, blood-like color. It was the sweetest fruit she'd
- 12:37Speaker 1: ever tasted. She didn't realize that the bitterness would come afterward.
- 12:42Speaker 1: She looked back at her husband, who was meant to
- 12:45Speaker 1: care for her soul and help her live in God's will.
- 12:49Speaker 1: She held the fruit up to him with a red-stained smile.
- 12:54Speaker 4: It's delicious.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Taste and see for yourself.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I shouldn't.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Adam's brow furrowed. He was conflicted. The voice of God
- 13:07Speaker 1: echoed in his mind.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Knowledge of good and evil, which leads to evil itself.
- 13:15Speaker 2: While the tree of life brings eternal life, the knowledge
- 13:19Speaker 2: of evil brings death.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Adam looked at his wife. She smiled at him, eyes
- 13:27Speaker 1: urging him to partake. She didn't seem different.
- 13:30Speaker 5: Maybe it was a lie.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Maybe there's something more for me?
- 13:38Speaker 5: Apart from God?
- 13:40Speaker 1: He gently raised the fruit to his lips and took
- 13:43Speaker 1: a bite. Adam knew what he was doing. God had
- 13:48Speaker 1: made himself clear. This was a deliberate act to be
- 13:52Speaker 1: like God. They had been deceived into thinking God was
- 13:56Speaker 1: holding back from them, and perhaps something better awaited them
- 14:00Speaker 1: if they separated themselves from him.
- 14:02Speaker 3: It's great!
- 14:04Speaker 4: You were right!
- 14:05Speaker 5: What did I tell you?
- 14:07Speaker 4: Why would God keep this from us?
- 14:10Speaker 3: What else have we been missing?
- 14:13Speaker 1: Adam's eyes glowed with thrill. The two laughed and took
- 14:17Speaker 1: another bite. A smile etched on the sides of the
- 14:21Speaker 1: serpent's mouth. His eyes pulsed with wicked pleasure as he
- 14:25Speaker 1: slid back into the dark shadows of the tree. A
- 14:29Speaker 1: cold wind howled through the forest and the earth's surface
- 14:33Speaker 1: shook with a single quake. Adam looked around him. Birds
- 14:37Speaker 1: flew away at the sight of him and the plants
- 14:40Speaker 1: curled back slightly. Something happened. His heart beat heavily in
- 14:45Speaker 1: his chest and sweat fell down his brow. What's happening?
- 14:54Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Something's wrong.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Adam grabbed his chest and winced. It felt like a
- 15:03Speaker 1: tightened grip on his heart, as if something invisible was
- 15:06Speaker 1: squeezing the divinity from him. What followed was the immediate
- 15:10Speaker 1: feeling of overwhelming and soul-crushing shame. Adam didn't just feel naked.
- 15:17Speaker 1: He felt vulnerable. He looked at Eve. She didn't look
- 15:21Speaker 1: the same. She looked like a stranger. His whole body tensed.
- 15:27Speaker 1: He was agitated, confused, and angry. Her face wore a
- 15:32Speaker 1: similar pain and something else.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Fear.
- 15:34Speaker 5: Fear.
- 15:36Speaker 1: She didn't know whether Adam was going to run from
- 15:38Speaker 1: her or attack her. She felt weak, vulnerable, and alone.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Her lower lip quivered. She looked at Adam's eyes, searching
- 15:48Speaker 1: to discern his intentions. He was scanning her.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Up and down.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Feeling exposed, she fled like a deer into the bushes.
- 15:56Speaker 1: She frantically gathered fig leaves together to cover herself. She
- 16:00Speaker 1: wanted to disappear. The weight of her fear and shame
- 16:04Speaker 1: was overwhelming. Panic overcame her. Adam's throat clenched. He stepped
- 16:10Speaker 1: to follow her, but then he felt something shift.
- 16:13Speaker 5: In the air.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Oh no!
- 16:15Speaker 5: He was coming. The creator.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Adam pulled some leaves off a fig tree and covered himself.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Then he ran. He ran like a frightened animal from
- 16:26Speaker 1: a predator. Fear was new to him. His tensed muscles.
- 16:30Speaker 1: His shaking hands. Make it stop.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Make it stop.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Make it stop.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Make it stop. Adam buried himself under leaves and brush.
- 16:38Speaker 1: God's presence used to feel as near as his own
- 16:41Speaker 1: breath and heartbeat, but now, after eating the fruit, God
- 16:45Speaker 1: seemed distant. Adam trembled in the shadows, listening to the
- 16:50Speaker 1: wind and churning of leaves.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Adam, where are you?
- 16:56Speaker 1: God's voice was no longer comforting but terrifying. Adam's heart
- 17:01Speaker 1: was about to burst. He groaned, anxious tears falling from
- 17:05Speaker 1: his eyes. The closeness with God was gone. The sense
- 17:10Speaker 1: of purpose, the feeling of destiny and endless possibilities, it
- 17:15Speaker 1: all burnt to ash and blew away with the wind
- 17:19Speaker 1: rushing through the forest. The voice of the Creator called
- 17:23Speaker 1: out again, Adam, where are you? It wasn't a question.
- 17:30Speaker 1: God knew where Adam was. He didn't speak with a question,
- 17:34Speaker 1: but an invitation. An invitation to return and repent. An
- 17:40Speaker 1: invitation to plead for forgiveness. But anxiety and shame wrapped
- 17:45Speaker 1: around Adam's heart like weeds to a flower. He was motionless.
- 17:51Speaker 1: The earth pulsed again, this time with rage. Adam fell
- 17:56Speaker 1: forward and out of the bushes. He remained on his knees,
- 18:00Speaker 1: eyes fixed on the ground. His arms were crossed, fingers
- 18:04Speaker 1: gently stroking his skin for comfort. He wouldn't turn his
- 18:08Speaker 1: gaze upward.
- 18:09Speaker 5: He couldn't.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Here I am.
- 18:11Speaker 3: I heard you coming. And I was afraid.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Why were you afraid, Adam? What have you to fear?
- 18:23Speaker 5: I'm naked.
- 18:24Speaker 3: I didn't want you to see me.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Who told you you were naked?
- 18:30Speaker 3: Nobody. I.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Did you eat of the tree, Adam? Did you eat
- 18:36Speaker 2: of the tree I commanded you not to eat?
- 18:39Speaker 1: God's voice rumbled with the quaking earth. A chilly air
- 18:43Speaker 1: blew around Adam. He felt even more exposed. Adam's eyes
- 18:48Speaker 1: finally darted up, wide with worry. His face curled forward,
- 18:54Speaker 1: then tensed into anger. He shook his head, warring with himself.
- 18:59Speaker 1: He didn't want to own his shame. He wanted it gone.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Then a thought slithered into his mind. It was a
- 19:07Speaker 1: new thought. Something evil. The tree had given him knowledge
- 19:13Speaker 1: of how to sin, how to lie, how to hurt.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Adam stood in anger and pointed to the bushes where
- 19:23Speaker 1: Eve hid.
- 19:25Speaker 3: It was the woman!
- 19:26Speaker 4: The woman you gave me.
- 19:28Speaker 3: It's her fault, not mine. She gave me the fruit
- 19:31Speaker 3: and I ate it.
- 19:32Speaker 5: Talk to her.
- 19:35Speaker 3: She's the one to blame.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Eve's breaths became frantic. She thought of running away. Instead,
- 19:42Speaker 1: she froze, unable to move. She felt God's anger thicken
- 19:47Speaker 1: the atmosphere.
- 19:49Speaker 5: What?
- 19:50Speaker 4: Have you done it wasn't my fault i it was
- 19:59Speaker 4: the serpent he deceived me i only ate it because
- 20:03Speaker 4: of what he said if i had known that this
- 20:05Speaker 4: would happen i would.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Have suddenly A ferocious wind blew through the forest. The
- 20:11Speaker 1: trees all bent as if bowing to a king. The
- 20:15Speaker 1: tree of knowledge shook and the serpent was thrust downward,
- 20:19Speaker 1: convulsing on the floor. God's rage fell upon the serpent.
- 20:25Speaker 5: Ah, Satan!
- 20:27Speaker 1: The voice of God boomed, shaking the entire garden. The
- 20:32Speaker 1: beautifully adorned creature writhed in pain. Adam and Eve looked
- 20:36Speaker 1: with dismay. For a moment, they saw the serpent for
- 20:40Speaker 1: who he truly was. The majestic creature was possessed by
- 20:45Speaker 1: something else, something heavenly, beautiful, and terrifying. Something otherworldly was
- 20:53Speaker 1: happening in front of them. Flashes of light and fire
- 20:57Speaker 1: filled the atmosphere. God spoke to Lucifer, the angel underneath
- 21:03Speaker 1: the skin of the serpent.
- 21:05Speaker 2: You were the signet of perfection. full of wisdom and
- 21:10Speaker 2: perfect in beauty. I placed you here in Eden as
- 21:15Speaker 2: an anointed guardian. I set you on this holy mountain.
- 21:20Speaker 2: You were blameless in your ways from the day you
- 21:24Speaker 2: were created, but your heart was proud because of your beauty.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Adam and Eve couldn't see what was happening in heaven's plain.
- 21:34Speaker 1: All they could see were clouds circling above. God's presence
- 21:39Speaker 1: circled Satan.
- 21:40Speaker 2: You corrupted your wisdom for power, and now unrighteousness has
- 21:47Speaker 2: tarnished your glow. I will destroy you with stone and fire.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Lightning flashed, and Adam and Eve could see the serpent again,
- 22:00Speaker 1: quivering with pain and fear. Its scales were muted, and
- 22:04Speaker 1: its legs and wings were torn. God's judgment was cast
- 22:09Speaker 1: upon the serpent.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Cursed are you, serpent. You will tremble under the feet
- 22:16Speaker 2: of livestock. On your belly you shall crawl, and the
- 22:22Speaker 2: dust shall be your food day and night.
- 22:28Speaker 1: The serpent's eyes glowed red with rage. It bore its
- 22:32Speaker 1: fangs up to God in defiance. He slithered toward Eve,
- 22:36Speaker 1: bent on striking. It looked at Eve with bloodlust. She
- 22:41Speaker 1: turned to run, but God tossed the serpent against the rocks.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Blood-curdling screams poured forth from the creature.
- 22:49Speaker 2: I will put enmity between you and the woman, your
- 22:54Speaker 2: offspring and her offspring. will be at war with one another.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But an offspring of Eve shall rise against you. You
- 23:05Speaker 2: will bruise his heel, but do not mistake it for victory.
- 23:11Speaker 2: He shall vanquish you and crush your head. Those words
- 23:19Speaker 2: resounded in Eve's ear. It echoed forward into the future,
- 23:23Speaker 2: a prophecy of deliverance. One day, A son of Eve
- 23:28Speaker 2: would crush the serpent and undo what was set in motion.
- 23:33Speaker 2: The serpent turned to.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Eve again, then slithered away in defeat, retreating into the
- 23:39Speaker 1: shadows of the canyons. Adam and Eve stood there, awaiting
- 23:43Speaker 1: a word from the Creator. His presence was directed to Eve.
- 23:48Speaker 1: She fell to her knees and gripped the dirt. God's
- 23:51Speaker 1: voice resonated.
- 23:54Speaker 2: I called you to multiply and fill the earth. Now
- 24:00Speaker 2: I will multiply your anguish as you bring children into
- 24:05Speaker 2: the world. You will be at war with yourself and
- 24:08Speaker 2: your husband. You will contend with him, but he will
- 24:13Speaker 2: rule over you. Eve crumbled into herself. She wanted autonomy
- 24:19Speaker 2: from God, but couldn't fathom the consequences. God turned to Adam.
- 24:24Speaker 2: The man fashioned from breath and dirt, hewn in the
- 24:27Speaker 2: image of himself. Adam, I called you to cultivate and
- 24:32Speaker 2: steward the earth. But now it shall be cursed because
- 24:36Speaker 2: of you. The earth will struggle against you. You will
- 24:41Speaker 2: eat of the earth through sweat and pain all the
- 24:46Speaker 2: days of your life. You will wilt against the stones.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Thorns and thistles will scrape your hands. This pain will
- 24:56Speaker 2: remind you of the paradise you rejected. Then, after a
- 25:03Speaker 2: lifetime of struggle, you will return to the dust of
- 25:07Speaker 2: the earth. For from the dust I made you, and
- 25:10Speaker 2: to the dust you shall return.
- 25:14Speaker 3: What do we do now? Where should we go?
- 25:18Speaker 5: What is there beyond Eden?
- 25:20Speaker 1: Adam's trembling arms covered his body. He was like a
- 25:24Speaker 1: whimpering child. The harsh wind of judgment ceased for a moment.
- 25:29Speaker 1: All was still.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Calm.
- 25:33Speaker 1: A pocket of what once was. The stag and doe
- 25:37Speaker 1: pranced through the forest in front of them. Their innocent
- 25:41Speaker 1: eyes stared blankly at them. Adam smirked for a moment.
- 25:45Speaker 1: They were old friends.
- 25:47Speaker 5: Then.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Suddenly, like an invisible blade slashing through the atmosphere, both
- 25:53Speaker 1: the animals' throats were cut and they fell to the floor.
- 25:58Speaker 6: No!
- 25:59Speaker 1: Adam ran to the creatures and knelt by their sides.
- 26:02Speaker 1: He watched the light vanish from their eyes. They were
- 26:05Speaker 1: no longer there. The breath of life had faded. Adam
- 26:10Speaker 1: stared for a long while at the blood on his hands,
- 26:13Speaker 1: realizing what death actually was. God removed the skin from
- 26:18Speaker 1: the animals and fashioned clothing for Adam and Eve. They
- 26:22Speaker 1: wore the animals' skins to keep them warm and unexposed.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Adam felt the clothing and cried. An innocent life was
- 26:31Speaker 1: slain so he wouldn't have to walk around in shame.
- 26:34Speaker 1: The life of another covered him. Adam and Eve looked up.
- 26:39Speaker 1: The light from the tree of life pulsed over the falls. God,
- 26:44Speaker 1: the Elohim. consulted with himself in a cosmic discussion of.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Life and death. They've become like us, knowing good and evil.
- 26:57Speaker 2: If they eat from the tree of life, they will
- 27:01Speaker 2: live forever in darkness. They must leave.
- 27:07Speaker 1: God's grief could be felt in his voice. He didn't
- 27:11Speaker 1: want to cast them out, but in his mercy... He
- 27:15Speaker 1: couldn't have them live forever, coexisting with evil. Eternal life
- 27:20Speaker 1: with evil is worse than death itself. The tree burst
- 27:25Speaker 1: with light more powerful than the sun. Eve covered her
- 27:29Speaker 1: eyes and looked at the ground. The earth shook and
- 27:32Speaker 1: began to crack. It split between her legs. Eden was
- 27:36Speaker 1: rejecting them. Adam, what's happening?
- 27:41Speaker 4: Run!
- 27:42Speaker 1: Adam grabbed Eve's hand. and the two sprinted through the trees.
- 27:47Speaker 1: They heard the growling of predators and the shrieks of
- 27:50Speaker 1: birds behind them. The earth gave way behind them as
- 27:53Speaker 1: they ran. Vines fell from the tipping trees. Eve stumbled
- 27:58Speaker 1: and fell into some roots, slamming her head on a stone.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Adam kept running. Selfish drive propelled him forward. Then he
- 28:07Speaker 1: heard her cries.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Adam, help!
- 28:10Speaker 5: Adam stopped, chest.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Heaving from exhaustion. He looked at the garden's gates, then
- 28:17Speaker 1: back at Eve. Self-preservation and convenience warred with his love
- 28:22Speaker 1: for Eve. He growled, circled back to her, and ripped
- 28:26Speaker 1: the roots catching her foot. He carried her the rest
- 28:29Speaker 1: of the way to the mountain's edge. Jagged rocks and
- 28:32Speaker 1: dirt lay below. They tumbled down, falling onto the hard earth.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Adam looked up. He could still see the faint glow
- 28:41Speaker 1: of the Tree of Life up above. But as the
- 28:44Speaker 1: clouds rolled through the valley, its glow disappeared, replaced by
- 28:50Speaker 1: a grey haze. Can we ever come back? Just then,
- 28:58Speaker 1: the clouds opened and a flaming figure descended with righteous fury.
- 29:04Speaker 1: It struck the earth beside the garden's entrance. Adam covered
- 29:08Speaker 1: Eve from the debris. They cowered in fear until the
- 29:12Speaker 1: dust settled. They looked up and peered through dust and mist.
- 29:18Speaker 1: An angel, armed with a sword of fire, stood at
- 29:22Speaker 1: the garden's entrance. It spun in every direction, a foreboding
- 29:27Speaker 1: symbol of judgment. Paradise was lost. Adam and Eve sat
- 29:33Speaker 1: in the dirt east of Eden, never to return. Their
- 29:37Speaker 1: descendants would pine after Eden. Each generation would manufacture ways
- 29:42Speaker 1: to reclaim paradise. They would all fail. But Adam and
- 29:47Speaker 1: Eve held on to a promise. One day, a son
- 29:51Speaker 1: of Eve would rise to crush the head of the serpent.
- 29:56Speaker 1: He would reclaim Eden for humanity. Heaven and Earth would
- 30:00Speaker 1: be joined once again. This PrayDogCon production is only made
