Bald Head Island’s ferry service is shutting down early Friday, July 24, due to shoaling—sediment buildup making the channel too shallow. Last ferries depart Deep Point at 7 p.m. and Bald Head Island at 7:30 p.m., with possible Saturday service cuts depending on dredging progress. Dredging begins Friday night at 7:45 p.m. and runs until Saturday morning at 6 a.m., blocking the channel to all but emergency vehicles. Final Saturday schedule depends on low tide conditions.
