- 0:15Dayna Roselli: And I must say, we're impressed.
- 0:17Sean McAllister: Very much so.
- 0:18Sean McAllister: Plus, where you can go to spot some big-time NFL stars during Super Bowl week.
- 0:23Dayna Roselli: Blake Shelton is set to be honored here in Las Vegas and a new downtown spot for some classic donut holes.
- 0:30Sean McAllister: I love donut holes.
- 0:31Sean McAllister: That and so much more this week on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:35Sean McAllister: Let's do it.
- 0:35Sean McAllister: Let's spin that wheel.
- 0:45Dayna Roselli: Welcome everyone to another episode of Vegas Revealed.
- 0:48Dayna Roselli: We're at episode 204.
- 0:50Dayna Roselli: Dana Roselli and Sean McAllister here, getting ready for an extremely busy Super Bowl week.
- 0:57Dayna Roselli: We've already been busy.
- 0:59Dayna Roselli: We just wrapped up a bunch of live shots that we did right there from the strip.
- 1:03Dayna Roselli: And I say we because our company kind of, it was our idea.
- 1:06Dayna Roselli: We pitched it, we did it.
- 1:08Dayna Roselli: But Sean was the talent and it was a lot of fun.
- 1:11Dayna Roselli: We talked to Chicago, Seattle, Miami, Dallas.
- 1:14Sean McAllister: Yeah, and more than a dozen uh big markets across the country just so excited about Super Bowl, the first ever Super Bowl here in Las Vegas.
- 1:24Sean McAllister: Of course, we're excited about that too.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: So had to share uh as much of the excitement and information leading up to the game as we could.
- 1:32Sean McAllister: And we've been not only lining ourselves up and lining up our schedule for Super Bowl week to cover everything that's going on, but also cramming and studying and getting all that information right so that we can share it with the rest of the country.
- 1:47Dayna Roselli: I know, and we'll have a little bit of that coming up, um, just kind of some of our picks for what's good for the week.
- 1:53Dayna Roselli: But yeah, there's so much information coming out constantly.
- 1:56Dayna Roselli: I mean, we're gonna be all over the place Super Bowl week.
- 1:58Dayna Roselli: Um looking forward to it.
- 2:00Dayna Roselli: Um, but you know, and especially because it's something we haven't experienced before.
- 2:04Dayna Roselli: It's a first for Las Vegas, obviously.
- 2:06Dayna Roselli: So we're gonna be on the red carpet of the NFL honors, we're gonna be at a Legion Stadium for opening night, we're gonna be at a bunch of media parties, all sorts of stuff.
- 2:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know Usher is going to be uh speaking with us and our media colleagues uh to give some insights and glimpses about what to expect from that halftime show.
- 2:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and the in the best part is Monday at noon we get to taste and test and look at all the Super Bowl food that they'll be offering on big game Sunday.
- 2:39Sean McAllister: And I have a feeling it's gonna be some of the food offerings for like the high roller sweets also.
- 2:46Sean McAllister: So it's not just gonna be like hot dogs and hamburgers and wings, it's gonna be like the elevated version of tailgate food.
- 2:54Dayna Roselli: We'll have to fast on Sunday.
- 2:56Sean McAllister: We will.
- 2:57Sean McAllister: And Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
- 2:59Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: I think well, like the good thing is I think we'll be doing a lot of walking this week.
- 3:03Dayna Roselli: Tons, lots of steps.
- 3:04Dayna Roselli: So um, the Tropicana is officially closing.
- 3:07Dayna Roselli: We've been talking about this for a long time, but you know, the letter went out, and that's kind of been all the chatter online this week.
- 3:14Dayna Roselli: A lot of people sad to see that the Tropicana, because it's such a historic property, uh, is going to close.
- 3:20Dayna Roselli: Others saying, you know what, it's about time, kind of need to open up some room over there.
- 3:24Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I feel like um back in December, I know uh we definitely had a conversation between ourselves, um, but we may have had it here on the podcast as well.
- 3:35Sean McAllister: I don't who knows there was lots of conversations.
- 3:37Sean McAllister: Our life is a podcast.
- 3:38Sean McAllister: Oh my god, it really is.
- 3:40Sean McAllister: Um, but I know even in December we were hearing that it was going to be kind of like a spring uh spring was the projected timeline for the property to close, and then they'll be, you know, getting everything pulled out of the building and ready for demolition by fall.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 4:00Dayna Roselli: So they did say in the letter that um they're expecting it to close on April 2nd.
- 4:06Dayna Roselli: So April 2nd of 2024.
- 4:09Dayna Roselli: It is official.
- 4:10Dayna Roselli: And like I I must say, I'll admit, I'm bad because we've had so much going on when it all centers around Super Bowl lately.
- 4:17Dayna Roselli: I have not really investigated as much as I should into the Oakland A's turning into the Las Vegas A's and coming to Las Vegas.
- 4:26Dayna Roselli: Now, that's not completely 100% set in stone, right?
- 4:30Dayna Roselli: But it's close.
- 4:32Sean McAllister: Yeah, I mean, plans are moving forward.
- 4:34Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 4:35Sean McAllister: And, you know, Bally's, who's the the company that owns the Tropicana now, is saying, you know, we are moving forward with these plans to, you know, tear down the existing Tropicana, give those nine acres to build a new ballpark, and then, you know, build a new resort under Bally's management on that same site where the Tropicana is now.
- 5:01Sean McAllister: Um, but I think people are just very uh skeptical of the ownership of the Las Vegas A's.
- 5:08Sean McAllister: They're like people have been have had the carpet pulled out from under them before.
- 5:14Sean McAllister: There's no reason why they wouldn't do the same thing in Las Vegas.
- 5:17Sean McAllister: I know that's what a lot of fans on social media are saying.
- 5:20Sean McAllister: Fans from the Bay Area that I've that I've communicated with, they're like, all right, if you want to get into business with these guys, we wish you the best of luck.
- 5:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 5:32Dayna Roselli: And didn't I read or heard or whatever um that uh there was another city that was possibly interested in bringing them there and they were kind of throwing their hat in the ring?
- 5:40Dayna Roselli: I don't know, something like that.
- 5:41Sean McAllister: Well, there are pictures of um some billboards that went up around the Salt Lake City area and that say uh Utah wants baseball.
- 5:51Sean McAllister: So I think that there's still some maneuvering that's going on in the background.
- 5:58Sean McAllister: Who knows?
- 5:58Sean McAllister: Yeah, but the Tropicana and the management over at Bally's they are moving forward with plans to um demolish the trop.
- 6:08Sean McAllister: And as you said, Dana, it closes April 2nd.
- 6:10Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we listened real quick.
- 6:12Dayna Roselli: Um, we got a media alert that the culinary union was doing a little kind of QA to inform people on where staff there stands and some of the longtime employees.
- 6:23Dayna Roselli: And we listened in for a little bit and it was interesting.
- 6:25Dayna Roselli: They were saying some of the longtime employees there, like and there were people that have worked there for 30 plus years.
- 6:30Sean McAllister: Really long time employees for sure.
- 6:33Dayna Roselli: That you know, they're set to get a pretty good exit package there.
- 6:38Dayna Roselli: Some, you know, it adds up a certain amount per year, and then if you add up all the years, it was coming out to like 40 to 60,000.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:46Dayna Roselli: So um they're luckily gonna be okay with a nice exit package.
- 6:51Dayna Roselli: And obviously, I know there's different things where, you know, if if another resort is built or something like that, that they would be in first dibs and stuff like that.
- 6:59Dayna Roselli: But um, we'll see.
- 7:00Dayna Roselli: Anyway, it is sad.
- 7:02Dayna Roselli: Um, everyone talking about it, I think, is you know, remembering the old Tropicana and the history of it.
- 7:11Dayna Roselli: But but I feel like a lot of people currently that live here are not going over to the Tropicana all the time.
- 7:18Dayna Roselli: So I'm kind of like, well, are you really gonna miss it?
- 7:21Sean McAllister: Well, and I feel the same way about when uh the Riviera closed.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 7:27Sean McAllister: When I mean, for a long time, Riviera was just sitting there and not saying that nothing was going on, but it wasn't like a destination resort on the strip.
- 7:39Sean McAllister: It was one of the older properties.
- 7:41Sean McAllister: There wasn't a ton of uh I'll say reinvestment going into the property to keep it up to date and all that kind of thing.
- 7:51Sean McAllister: Sure, it's an iconic property, and it's part of what made Las Vegas Las Vegas.
- 7:57Sean McAllister: I think Liberace had his highest, he became the highest paid uh uh entertainer definitely in Vegas and maybe in the world performing over there at the Riviera.
- 8:09Sean McAllister: So there's absolutely history as there is over at Trop.
- 8:14Sean McAllister: But the fact of the matter is people aren't going there.
- 8:18Sean McAllister: People are not making the Tropicana a destination.
- 8:22Sean McAllister: And so you know, when things have had their time, they've had their time, and you need to honor the history and look to the future.
- 8:31Sean McAllister: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 8:32Sean McAllister: That's what Las Vegas does.
- 8:34Sean McAllister: I mean, you know, the traps parts of the trop, I'm sure, will end up at the neon boneyard.
- 8:40Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:41Sean McAllister: It's been a good run.
- 8:43Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 8:44Sean McAllister: 1957.
- 8:45Sean McAllister: April 1957.
- 8:47Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 8:48Sean McAllister: The Tropicana opened.
- 8:49Dayna Roselli: Wow.
- 8:50Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and it's a great showroom there.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: I think the that for me, that that'll be the biggest thing that I mean, it's such a fantastic showroom that they have there.
- 8:57Dayna Roselli: Other than that, right now there aren't really a lot of restaurants there.
- 9:01Dayna Roselli: It's not like a place that you go for something.
- 9:05Dayna Roselli: You know, it's not like, oh yeah, they don't have a lot of offerings there.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: You know, they have gaming, they have some shows in the big showroom, they have the laugh factory for comedy.
- 9:14Dayna Roselli: Other than that.
- 9:16Sean McAllister: Well, and I think that they've been scaling back operations as well, knowing that this day was coming too.
- 9:24Sean McAllister: So they weren't gonna announce any new restaurants or any new attractions or shows because they knew it was shutting down.
- 9:34Dayna Roselli: I always had an issue with the restroom fr is too far from the showroom.
- 9:38Sean McAllister: It's really far.
- 9:38Sean McAllister: You have to go out around the corner, past the coffee shop, down to the corner of the hallway.
- 9:43Dayna Roselli: Like, you've missed a whole act.
- 9:44Dayna Roselli: I missed 30 minutes of the show.
- 9:46Dayna Roselli: I mean, you really need to.
- 9:48Sean McAllister: But you're really close to the door that goes out to the pool.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: That's true.
- 9:52Dayna Roselli: And the back hallway to the we've been backstage there, right?
- 9:55Dayna Roselli: When we uh met up with Frank Marino after Legends Wednesday.
- 9:58Dayna Roselli: So, hey, okay, so let's move from older properties to newer.
- 10:02Dayna Roselli: Fountain Blue, Las Vegas has a new president already.
- 10:04Dayna Roselli: Um, and a lot of people are going, wait, already?
- 10:06Dayna Roselli: But you know what?
- 10:07Dayna Roselli: I think this is gonna be good personally because he has worked at a lot of properties in Las Vegas.
- 10:15Dayna Roselli: And we're talking about Maurice Wooden.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: He is actually a 36-year veteran of the hospitality sector, specifically the luxury hospitality sector.
- 10:27Dayna Roselli: Sector, I'm not gonna cut that out.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: Sector.
- 10:31Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 10:32Dayna Roselli: But he also worked as uh principal executive officer and president of Win Las Vegas, so that's a good sign.
- 10:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, it is.
- 10:39Sean McAllister: I think that this is um this is a good fit, it seems like, on paper, at least.
- 10:45Sean McAllister: Um, I don't know Mr.
- 10:47Sean McAllister: Wooden personally, me either.
- 10:49Sean McAllister: Um, but you know, his resume, I think, speaks for itself.
- 10:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I was looking, I was like, oh, he's worked at the Golden Nugget and the Mirage.
- 10:57Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 10:58Sean McAllister: Uh he was on the board of the um LVC VA, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
- 11:04Sean McAllister: Um, so definitely some deep roots here in Las Vegas.
- 11:08Sean McAllister: And this is kind of the latest in uh I'll say some uh tumultuous times for leadership over there at Fountain Blue.
- 11:17Sean McAllister: Ever since the property opened, there has been uh some management change going on, which I will say is not completely inconsistent with what happens when big new resorts open.
- 11:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 11:32Dayna Roselli: You hear a lot of you know changes and stuff like that.
- 11:35Dayna Roselli: The one thing I think that's gonna be good about uh Maurice Wooden is having someone who knows Las Vegas.
- 11:43Dayna Roselli: Because I know the Fountain Blue is on iconic and and you know, Fountain Blue development and everything like that.
- 11:49Dayna Roselli: And a lot of them are from, you know, Miami area area, and Vegas is different than Miami, and this is also their first gaming property.
- 11:56SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:57Dayna Roselli: So they gotta get gamblers through the door.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: So I think this is gonna be a good fit for them to maybe, you know, uh maybe pivot a little and and go in a couple different directions that maybe they didn't have planned or whatever.
- 12:09Sean McAllister: Yeah, and maybe be use that Miami influence, but be a little more vegas-minded.
- 12:14Sean McAllister: Right, if you will.
- 12:15Dayna Roselli: Pivot.
- 12:16Sean McAllister: Yeah, pivot, pivot.
- 12:18Dayna Roselli: It's the best of friends episode.
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, um, they announced a president right after Nacho Gate went viral.
- 12:23Dayna Roselli: Oh boy.
- 12:24Dayna Roselli: We didn't get to talk about this last week.
- 12:25Dayna Roselli: There's really not much to say.
- 12:26Dayna Roselli: I feel like everyone knows exactly what we're talking about.
- 12:29Dayna Roselli: Um, you know, the picture of the nachos over at the Fountain Blue, and there were six chips, and then every someone posted it, and everyone went crazy posting their nachos, and then Fountain Blue changed the nacho uh plate that comes out, the order, the look of it, kind of more of a mound of nachos, the quantity, not six chips.
- 12:48Dayna Roselli: And so that was you know interesting because they turned it around and they had a lot of fun with it too, the Fountain Blue.
- 12:53Dayna Roselli: And I think that's kind of what you gotta do, right?
- 12:55Sean McAllister: Every single other property in Las Vegas had fun with it too.
- 12:59Sean McAllister: Every every property started posting pictures of their own nachos.
- 13:04Dayna Roselli: I know, I know.
- 13:04Dayna Roselli: And then Fountain Blue said, listen, we made a mistake.
- 13:07Dayna Roselli: I mean, listen, but that's the you know, when you listen to the people, when something goes viral like that on social media, you gotta act on it.
- 13:14Dayna Roselli: And they did.
- 13:15Dayna Roselli: They listened, they changed it, but apparently I'm hearing now some people are saying that they're disappointed because now they want to go get the six the six chip nacho plate and see what it's like, and they don't serve it anymore.
- 13:27Dayna Roselli: So isn't that funny?
- 13:28Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 13:29Dayna Roselli: Anyway, um, welcome to Fountain Blue Las Vegas to Maurice Wooden.
- 13:34Dayna Roselli: Hopefully, um that's uh that's a good move, and we'll see some positive, positive things over there.
- 13:40Sean McAllister: And by the way, Dana, uh end of February, we're definitely going to be over at Fountain Blue because live with Kelly and Mark, which used to be live with Regis and Kelly.
- 13:51Dayna Roselli: And then live with Kelly and Ryan.
- 13:54Sean McAllister: Kelly and Ryan.
- 13:55Sean McAllister: Oh my god, that's right.
- 13:56Sean McAllister: I skipped over the whole Ryan Seacrest era.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: Then there was like a year of changing hosts, and then before that was Regis.
- 14:01Sean McAllister: Regis and Kathy Lee, yeah.
- 14:03Sean McAllister: Even before Kelly.
- 14:04Dayna Roselli: Well, yeah, Regis and Kelly.
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: Remember?
- 14:06Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh, that has changed.
- 14:08Sean McAllister: Oh my gosh.
- 14:08Sean McAllister: So anyway, that show is coming, hosted now by Kelly Rippa and Mark Consuelos.
- 14:13Sean McAllister: They're married, they're married.
- 14:15Sean McAllister: Uh, and they were married actually here in Las Vegas.
- 14:18Sean McAllister: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 14:19Sean McAllister: Yeah, it was a shotgun wedding.
- 14:21Sean McAllister: It cost them under 200 bucks back in uh it was either 1996 or 97.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay.
- 14:28Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 14:28Dayna Roselli: Wow, a good year.
- 14:30Dayna Roselli: I love Mark Consuelos.
- 14:31Dayna Roselli: Um, I watched it.
- 14:32Dayna Roselli: A lot of people do.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 14:33Dayna Roselli: I didn't watch him on the soap opera he was on.
- 14:35Dayna Roselli: I watched him on Riverdale.
- 14:36unknown: Oh.
- 14:37Dayna Roselli: That show Riverdale.
- 14:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he was on that.
- 14:39Dayna Roselli: So um, but yeah, that'll be good.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: We're going to that.
- 14:41Dayna Roselli: We already got our ticket.
- 14:42Dayna Roselli: Well, we've submitted tickets, and I think we've been approved, submitted for FYI.
- 14:46Dayna Roselli: If you do want to go, um, there is a link.
- 14:48Dayna Roselli: I have it on my Facebook.
- 14:49Dayna Roselli: Maybe we'll tweet it out too.
- 14:50Dayna Roselli: If you want to get free tickets, you probably have to do it quick because they're probably gonna go fast.
- 14:56Dayna Roselli: But they're doing two days of tapings, a Monday and a Tuesday at the end of February.
- 15:01Dayna Roselli: And there's a lot of room in that theater.
- 15:03Dayna Roselli: So they're, you know, the tickets are free.
- 15:05Dayna Roselli: You just got to put in your information and wait to be approved.
- 15:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, so that's gonna be a fun time.
- 15:10Sean McAllister: It'll be good to welcome them back.
- 15:12Sean McAllister: I'm sure they have a lot of personal Vegas stories that they're going to be sharing um during their time here as well.
- 15:19Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I'm sure, you know, it's good.
- 15:20Dayna Roselli: They'll be their first time at the Fountain Blue.
- 15:22Dayna Roselli: And speaking of shows, Hacks, the show, is coming back for season three.
- 15:28Dayna Roselli: And they were shooting in Las Vegas this week, and both you and I were like, Thank goodness, we love that show.
- 15:33Dayna Roselli: I'm so glad there's gonna be a season three.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: It's so good.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: Gene Smart is such a good actress in that role of playing like the stand-up comedian who is on her way out, but then you know, her career skyrockets again.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: And I feel like it's loosely based on Joan Rivers' career.
- 15:55Sean McAllister: Honestly, right.
- 15:56Dayna Roselli: Um her relationship with her assistant, or not assistant, writer.
- 16:00Dayna Roselli: Yeah, the girl, the girl who writes her her jokes.
- 16:02Dayna Roselli: I gotta go revisit the like last two episodes because I forgot it's been so long.
- 16:07Sean McAllister: It is, and season two, they were out on the road a lot, so there wasn't a ton of uh Vegas scenes that were a part of it.
- 16:16Sean McAllister: So, and I I have a feeling that a lot uh there were portions certainly of season one that were shot here in Las Vegas, but I feel like season three, they're like really going for it with the on-location shoots.
- 16:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we saw casting calls and there were uh well, we saw them in front of Caesars Palace, and then we saw there was a casting call for a shoot at Top Golf.
- 16:36Dayna Roselli: So that'll be good to see all that stuff, you know.
- 16:39Dayna Roselli: A lot of fun, yeah.
- 16:40Sean McAllister: I think they had yeah, several different uh locations that were that were happening.
- 16:45Sean McAllister: So hacks, uh obviously in production now.
- 16:48Sean McAllister: Hopefully, we'll be back with new episodes by the end of the year on uh HBO.
- 16:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah, hey, quickly wanted to mention Planet Hollywood.
- 16:57Dayna Roselli: Um, they have a great center bar in the casino, and it was called Heart Bar.
- 17:02Dayna Roselli: And it was always uh interesting, the people watching, right?
- 17:06Dayna Roselli: Over there.
- 17:07Dayna Roselli: Um, but they're getting a new bar called Glass Bar.
- 17:10Dayna Roselli: It's gonna debut this winter.
- 17:13Dayna Roselli: So they sent out some renderings.
- 17:15Dayna Roselli: Go to our social media, our Instagram on Vegas Revealed, and also our uh Twitter.
- 17:20Dayna Roselli: That's what I'm gonna call it.
- 17:21Dayna Roselli: I know it's X.
- 17:22Dayna Roselli: I say that every time.
- 17:24Dayna Roselli: Um, but anyway, um, it looks gorgeous, and I'm excited for this change because you know, uh as we always say a good center bar is just, I mean, the center bar is where it's at, where the people watching is at, and it's just fun.
- 17:38Sean McAllister: And I've there have been so many memories at that uh Planet Hollywood at the heart bar.
- 17:44Sean McAllister: I mean, because it was a heart bar for I mean a long time.
- 17:48Sean McAllister: Yeah, I don't really remember it before it was heart bar, to be honest.
- 17:53Dayna Roselli: No, I don't either.
- 17:54Dayna Roselli: I think it's been here since we got here.
- 17:56Sean McAllister: Yeah, and um I have certainly had some late nights before shows over at the theater there, after shows at the theater there, um, and then just going to like hang out and meet up with friends there too.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 18:11Dayna Roselli: It's a it's a good time.
- 18:13Dayna Roselli: I was there once after the Hans Klock show.
- 18:16Dayna Roselli: Remember Hans?
- 18:16Sean McAllister: Hans and Pamela Anderson.
- 18:18Sean McAllister: Yes, Hans Klock the magician.
- 18:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I loved him and his hair that always blew in the wind.
- 18:24Dayna Roselli: I think I've talked about this before.
- 18:25Sean McAllister: He had the Beyonce fan before Beyonce had the Beyonce fan.
- 18:29Dayna Roselli: Loved it, right?
- 18:32Dayna Roselli: And he had Pamela Anderson in his show.
- 18:34Dayna Roselli: And one night I was there, and Hans was there at the harp bar with Pam, and everyone was drinking and smoking cigs.
- 18:41Dayna Roselli: It was just like, I'm like, what am I?
- 18:42Dayna Roselli: This is like the weirdest moment.
- 18:44Sean McAllister: It's a it's a Vegas moment.
- 18:46Sean McAllister: It was a very that is a hundred percent a Vegas moment.
- 18:49Dayna Roselli: But the glass bar actually looks really beautiful.
- 18:52Dayna Roselli: I'm excited for um that to open.
- 18:55Dayna Roselli: It's gonna be, let's see, nearly 4,000 square feet.
- 18:58Dayna Roselli: Um, it's uh gonna be, you know, a cocktail lounge that features bar top games for guests and and like six television screens.
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: So it should be pretty cool.
- 19:07Sean McAllister: Yeah, it should.
- 19:08Sean McAllister: I'm looking forward to that.
- 19:09Sean McAllister: All right, should we talk Super Bowl?
- 19:11Dayna Roselli: Yeah, let's talk um Super Bowl week and what we noticed as kind of the top things that we think the general public will enjoy, right?
- 19:21Dayna Roselli: Like what they can actually be a part of.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: Um, but you and I are gonna be out and about and doing Super Bowl all week.
- 19:28Dayna Roselli: So, you know, instead of doing a big podcast next week, since we are going to all these different things, I think we're gonna drop little nuggets all week long.
- 19:37Dayna Roselli: And I hope everyone enjoys that.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: But that's the plan, just to kind of guide you along the week because there's no point in going and doing all these things and not being able to share it in more of a real-time-ish kind of moment.
- 19:51Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 19:51Sean McAllister: And I think giving you guys uh some updates along the way is going to also kind of give you some perspective into what we're experiencing as we're, you know, down there on the strip, seeing fans arrive, seeing the teams arrive, having Usher talking, you know, seeing the inside of the stadium for the first time, all of that stuff, uh, I think is probably going to come across better in, like you said, Dana, in more of a real-time uh environment than if we like did everything, came back, compiled our thoughts, and sat down and did everything for a big podcast.
- 20:35Sean McAllister: So you will, you'll be getting uh shorter snippets throughout the week next week.
- 20:40Dayna Roselli: Because we were like, I mean, it's our podcast.
- 20:42Dayna Roselli: We can do whatever we want, right?
- 20:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, absolutely.
- 20:45Dayna Roselli: We don't work for anyone, we work for ourselves.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: So yeah, we figure why not?
- 20:48Dayna Roselli: Let's let's do it like that.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: Um, one cool thing that did come across today, and we did talk with the folks over at Caesars Entertainment about is they're doing this huge projection show on the outside of the Augustus Tower at Caesars Palace, which is the NFL host hotel.
- 21:03Dayna Roselli: Yep.
- 21:04Dayna Roselli: And um, so that seems like it's gonna be cool, and that'll be running.
- 21:08Dayna Roselli: Uh it's a f it's a few minutes long.
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: So I think um folks that are walking on the strip, walking by Caesars, are gonna see this and it's you know free.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: So enjoy that and take that in.
- 21:18Sean McAllister: Yeah, so that's gonna be going off uh periodically.
- 21:21Sean McAllister: It's gonna use that 3D projection mapping.
- 21:24Sean McAllister: There's gonna be lasers, there's gonna be music.
- 21:27Sean McAllister: It's definitely, it sounds like something that will stop you in your tracks if you are walking by.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: Right.
- 21:34Sean McAllister: And it's probably gonna draw you in uh to more of the photo ops and uh atmosphere that they have planned over at Caesars.
- 21:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because that's like the 50 yard line of the strip, right?
- 21:45Dayna Roselli: That's what they're gonna like right the center, right?
- 21:47Dayna Roselli: I know they're gonna have this big Super Bowl throne there where people can take pictures and it's gonna be great.
- 21:52Dayna Roselli: There is so much coming up.
- 21:54Dayna Roselli: I mean, you and I are gonna try and hit the halftime press conference, halftime show press conference.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: We're gonna do our best.
- 21:59Dayna Roselli: Like I said.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: We're going to opening night.
- 22:01Dayna Roselli: We're going to a preview of the food.
- 22:03Dayna Roselli: We're going to the NFL honors, which we're going to talk a little bit more about in tips.
- 22:08Sean McAllister: But um we'll probably uh head out and talk with uh both teams as well.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 22:14Dayna Roselli: So, and they're staying over at Lake Las Vegas um to kind of have some peace and stay away from it all.
- 22:20Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, there's tons happening.
- 22:21Dayna Roselli: Shaq is doing his big party.
- 22:23Dayna Roselli: A lot of people look forward to that because he does it year after year every Super Bowl.
- 22:26Dayna Roselli: So I was wondering where he was gonna have it.
- 22:28Dayna Roselli: He's having it at Excess on that Friday night.
- 22:31Dayna Roselli: And it's interesting because it's like there's rides, and I'm like, how where are the rides going at Excess?
- 22:35Dayna Roselli: But it must be out by the pool area or something.
- 22:38Dayna Roselli: So I'm curious to see everything that's gonna be built for this moment.
- 22:42Dayna Roselli: I mean, it just sounds like there are like endless things to do.
- 22:46Sean McAllister: Yeah, and then I mean, there are parties all over the place.
- 22:50Sean McAllister: Maxim is throwing its own uh big game party.
- 22:56Sean McAllister: Uh you know, we've talked about uh Guy Fieti is throwing a huge tailgate out behind the high roller.
- 23:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, um, there is no shortage, plus there's like nightclub events, yeah.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: Marshmallow and uh I think he's at XS on Super Bowl night, I think it is, which I was thinking like whoever the one I have a feeling the winning team's gonna possibly go to XS.
- 23:16Dayna Roselli: They've got to.
- 23:17Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, uh maybe not.
- 23:19Dayna Roselli: Maybe they'll go, I don't know.
- 23:20Dayna Roselli: I wonder.
- 23:21Dayna Roselli: Excess, maybe Omnia Omnia.
- 23:23Dayna Roselli: Yeah, because it is the NFL host.
- 23:25Dayna Roselli: I don't know.
- 23:26Dayna Roselli: Um, we'll see where they show up, but we have a feeling the team always goes out.
- 23:32Sean McAllister: They do, and there is no better celebration town than Las Vegas.
- 23:37Sean McAllister: So yeah.
- 23:38Sean McAllister: Exactly.
- 23:39Dayna Roselli: All right, so um, we wanted to mention this too, just because you know, we always talk about Old Red opening, and obviously people love Blake Shelton, and we just found out he's gonna be honored this year um at the Keep Memory Alive gala, which they have moved this year to May.
- 23:53Dayna Roselli: So it's May 10th at MGM Grand Garden Arena.
- 23:57Sean McAllister: And uh this is a gala that benefits the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.
- 24:03Sean McAllister: Um, Keep Memory Alive is a fantastic organization that does so much um not only to help find a cure for Alzheimer's and other uh brain diseases, but they do a ton for people who are caregivers to those who are suffering from these conditions as well.
- 24:22Sean McAllister: So, I mean, tons and tons of money, millions and millions has been raised uh since they've started doing the Power of Love Gala.
- 24:30Sean McAllister: I can't believe it's 27th.
- 24:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 24:33Sean McAllister: Jeees.
- 24:33Dayna Roselli: It's one of the most star-studded events in Las Vegas every year.
- 24:37Dayna Roselli: It raises tons of money for such a great cause.
- 24:39Dayna Roselli: Uh Blake Shelton, known for doing, you know, attaching himself to a lot of different charities and, you know, philanthropic uh events and fundraisers.
- 24:51Dayna Roselli: So um they feel he needs deserves to be honored.
- 24:53Dayna Roselli: And I think this is gonna be, this is gonna be great.
- 24:55Dayna Roselli: Something else they do over there is just really create awareness.
- 24:59Dayna Roselli: It all creates awareness.
- 25:00Dayna Roselli: Even when I interviewed Maria Shriver last time when I was there, I went and followed her on Instagram and her women's Alzheimer's movement.
- 25:07Dayna Roselli: And I have learned so much following that account over the last year, just about awareness, things to look for, things the foods to eat that can help, what can benefit, what to be aware of if you know you have a family member that starts to show these signs.
- 25:22Dayna Roselli: And also, hey, some things that that happen are are actually not dementia or Alzheimer's, it's just getting old.
- 25:30Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 25:30Dayna Roselli: Well people forget where their keys are.
- 25:32Sean McAllister: Well, I was uh I'm glad that you brought that up because that is one of the examples that uh that they give.
- 25:38Sean McAllister: They're like, if you forget where you put your keys, that's not a sign of dementia.
- 25:45Sean McAllister: If you forget where you're driving, that's kind of a sign that something could be going on.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:54Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 25:54Dayna Roselli: Really interesting.
- 25:55Dayna Roselli: So um anyway, I'm sure we'll be there covering that.
- 25:58Dayna Roselli: Um, you can get tickets online right now.
- 26:00Dayna Roselli: Fabulous, fabulous event, amazing uh food, entertainment.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: And they're honoring Blake Shelton, but there'll be a lot of other celebrities and performances on stage as well, as they always do.
- 26:12Sean McAllister: Let's do some tips.
- 26:17Sean McAllister: All right, Dana, we were talking about uh all of the events that are happening during NFL week, all the things that we're going to be out covering.
- 26:26Sean McAllister: One of them is the NFL honors over at Resorts World on February 8th, which uh I believe that's going to be broadcast live as well.
- 26:35Dayna Roselli: Okay, yeah.
- 26:36Dayna Roselli: And we feel like this event is gonna bring a lot of the top talent in, right?
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: And so we were thinking like if you're in town, if you're a local and you want to kind of spot some of your favorite players, coaches, iconic athletes, uh wonderful athletes from that maybe don't even play football, you know, people who are also gonna be maybe presenting or hosting.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: This is probably the place to be where we think you could run into some of those people just by being around resorts world because it's a huge event.
- 27:08Dayna Roselli: They're all gonna be arriving.
- 27:09Sean McAllister: So possibly uh plan on lunch at resorts world, an early dinner, happy hour, really, because hang around.
- 27:18Dayna Roselli: Um, the red carpet's three to five.
- 27:20Dayna Roselli: We'll be on the carpet um doing some interviews.
- 27:22Dayna Roselli: So I don't know, yeah, like you said, maybe lunch because then they'll be walking in for the three o'clock.
- 27:26Dayna Roselli: Yeah.
- 27:27Dayna Roselli: Or dinner or happy hour.
- 27:28Dayna Roselli: Or happy hour.
- 27:29Dayna Roselli: Yeah, or just hang out.
- 27:30Sean McAllister: So that'll be good.
- 27:31Dayna Roselli: Yeah, that's a little tip from us, okay?
- 27:33Dayna Roselli: Another one is, and I said to you, we gotta get this in because you know, we have so many donut shops around town, and they're wonderful.
- 27:40Dayna Roselli: Um, but one that's kind of a classic is Carl's Donuts.
- 27:45Dayna Roselli: And it's been around since 1966, and I was excited to see that they opened up another location in downtown Las Vegas, and it's called the Donut Hole because I love a good donut hole better than a donut.
- 27:59Sean McAllister: Me too.
- 28:00Sean McAllister: And I feel like it's so much less of a commitment than a whole donut.
- 28:04Dayna Roselli: Yes, and yeah, and it's just you're not holding on to it forever.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: It's like you pop it in your mouth.
- 28:09Dayna Roselli: For me, I'll just eat the whole thing.
- 28:11Dayna Roselli: Some people might eat it in two bites, chunks or two, two or three.
- 28:15Dayna Roselli: But um, it is uh now open.
- 28:17Dayna Roselli: They're doing like a big grand opening on February 10th.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: It's Carl's Donuts, um, and it's right in walking distance of Fremont Street Experience.
- 28:26Dayna Roselli: So the donut hole, I have had their donut holes there.
- 28:30Dayna Roselli: I don't get donuts a lot, but I had like a shower for a friend and I got donut holes and they were delicious.
- 28:36Dayna Roselli: So I highly recommend Carl's Donuts.
- 28:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, Carl's Donuts, those are those are great donuts, and I love the legacy that they have here in Las Vegas as well.
- 28:47Sean McAllister: Well, after uh Super Bowl wraps up, the next big holiday after that is Valentine's Day, of course.
- 28:54Sean McAllister: So if you're in Las Vegas and looking for something to do with your Valentine, maybe a trip to the Mob Museum is an idea.
- 29:06Dayna Roselli: It's so romantic.
- 29:07Sean McAllister: It's an idea.
- 29:08Dayna Roselli: All right.
- 29:09Dayna Roselli: But here's the deal free admission for Nevada residents on Wednesday, February 14th.
- 29:17Dayna Roselli: And you may ask, well, why is that?
- 29:20Dayna Roselli: Well, that's because they have a display inside for the Valentine's Day massacre.
- 29:30Dayna Roselli: And everyone knows why we're laughing.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: We're not trying to be, but here's the deal they have a special showcase in there that shows the two Thomson submachine guns used in the infamous St.
- 29:43Dayna Roselli: Valentine's Day Massacre on February 14th, 1929.
- 29:47Dayna Roselli: And we were reading that going, that calls for free admission for you and your loved one on Valentine's Day, doesn't it?
- 29:54Sean McAllister: Well, listen, what if this is a surprise portion of uh someone's Valentine's Day festivities?
- 30:01Sean McAllister: You know, they do the the flowers, the chocolates, plan a nice dinner, and then you go to the museum to look at the machine guns responsible for a massacre.
- 30:16Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 30:18Dayna Roselli: Teach their own, right?
- 30:19Dayna Roselli: Hey, listen, non-residents receive buy one, get one free too.
- 30:22Dayna Roselli: So anybody visiting, but you're right.
- 30:24Dayna Roselli: Like, here's the deal the mob museum is literally, first of all, free admission or buy one, get one free is great because it's one of the best museums.
- 30:31Sean McAllister: It's amazing.
- 30:33Dayna Roselli: The mob has a place in history, it sure does.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: And so, you know, I, you know, you can see what they're trying to do there.
- 30:39Dayna Roselli: They have, you know, that display inside that showcase.
- 30:43Dayna Roselli: And so why not, you know, get people through the door to see it.
- 30:47Dayna Roselli: So if you want to go check out the mob museum, Valentine's Day might be your day.
- 30:53Dayna Roselli: And I think you'll have a good time.
- 30:56Sean McAllister: All right, that wraps it up for episode 204.
- 30:59Sean McAllister: Um, remember, next week we're going to be dropping uh a series of shorter episodes as we um experience Super Bowl week unfolding in front of us right here in Las Vegas.
- 31:13Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's gonna be a good time.
- 31:15Dayna Roselli: Check out our social media.
- 31:16Dayna Roselli: We'll post some of uh also have some of Sean's uh live shots that he did for there from the strip um covering Super Bowl and getting ready for the week.
- 31:24Dayna Roselli: Also, I want to thank our sponsor, Vegas Near Me.
- 31:27Dayna Roselli: Download that if you're coming into town for Super Bowl or if you live here.
- 31:31Dayna Roselli: Um, pretty much anything fun to do or see is on Vegas Near Me.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: Basically, restaurants, attractions, uh maps.
