- 0:00Track the Galaxy's most Unpredictable Star trek Podcast. There we are. I love
- 0:28that music. I love that music. It's a fun song. It is
- 0:32it is fun song. Welcome to trick Cast. Absolutely. Yeah. How's
- 0:42it going? Man? Good? Good? Uh? Just for those watching,
- 0:46this is a supplemental So it's not a real show. I guess it's
- 0:49just the two of us. No, it's just a fake shows, a
- 0:52fake show. Right. We can't do a real show without without Dan exactly
- 0:56exactly. Yeah, he's the he's what is he the glue that holds us
- 1:00together? Or that sounds about right? That sounds about right. Okay,
- 1:04although we literally could not do this show without you, right, that's true.
- 1:10I mean you know yeah, if you ever like walked off of a
- 1:12cliff, yeah, I guess Trek Cast would just die. It would just
- 1:18end, it would stop. Yes, So we need to we need to
- 1:21protect the Daniel. That's right. Let's keep him safe. I'm the servant,
- 1:26the dog catcher. Chad Biz Chas bissays the dog catcher. He also
- 1:30says good morning, yeah Horne Chas Biz Yeah. Yeah, oh man,
- 1:41So how was your week? What did you do well? So yesterday we
- 1:45had a little friend miss get together the party for the friends. Yeah yeah,
- 1:49so we did a little uh white elephant gift exchange something you might know
- 1:53it as a Yankee swab. Yeah so uh yeah, and uh played a
- 1:59little bit of a movia movie trivia. We do a we do a game.
- 2:04So on the Adam Carolla Show that I used to listen to, they
- 2:07do a couple of movie trivia games. One's Throtten Tomatoes game where you have
- 2:10to guess the score of the of the movie, and the other one was
- 2:15called Totally Topical t Bow Trivia Time Today, and that's the game we played
- 2:20yesterday. And that's where I read off the description of the movie until somebody
- 2:25figures out what movie I'm talking about and they chime in m okay, and
- 2:30then you know, whoever gets the most points win. So played a little
- 2:34bit of that. That was fun. Had had a pasta bar and oh
- 2:38yeah yeah we uh it was like a pot luck for ours, okay cool.
- 2:46I was so busy running other errands that I didn't have time to make
- 2:49anything or go get anything, so literally, I just bought a bucket of
- 2:53chicken from Popeyes and brought that. That's perfect. It was such a hit
- 2:59I would I got at all. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Everyone was
- 3:04just like, oh my god, you brought chicken. Yeah right right.
- 3:07They were like, yes, I planned this the entire time. Yeah,
- 3:10oh that's great, that's great. And it was like talking about, oh
- 3:15yes, I paint hestakingly made this and it took so long, like just
- 3:17kind of bragging about the recipes. Like everybody's still talking about the chicken.
- 3:22Yeah that's great. Yeah. We usually have it a couple of weeks before
- 3:27Christmas. It's far enough away where you know, people haven't gotten crazy pulling
- 3:32their hair out with last minute Christmas stuff. But we all did decide though
- 3:38that Popeyes is much better than the Colonel. We don't. I mean,
- 3:43the only time I ever have Popeyes is every once in a while. I'll
- 3:46have it when I'm when I'm on the road when I'm driving my semi.
- 3:50But we don't have a Popeyes nearby. So we have something called Lee's Famous
- 3:54recipe that's probably something you guys don't have out there, and it is a
- 3:59really I think it is a regional thing and it's it's like a KFCA,
- 4:03only way better. Okay, So yeah, yeah, with the cole Slaw,
- 4:10and then and the mashed potatoes and yeah, so now I'm getting hungry,
- 4:15right, We've got so much leftover pasta? Oh my god. Yeah.
- 4:21Uh so we bought I bought like three bags of like giant bags of
- 4:26salad, and only about half of it. Half of one bag i't eaten.
- 4:29This is what happens when we start talking about food. People start talking
- 4:30about it too. People start shiving in for us. That's great. Yeah,
- 4:38people start driving it. I love it. I love it. All
- 4:41right, Well, let's let's get to the news. I actually have some
- 4:43news stories for us. Awesome, let's do it. Star Trek News.
- 4:48Okay, so our first news story comes to us from CNBC. And I
- 4:51don't know if you've seen these rumors, but they are quite swirling around and
- 4:56it sounds like, uh, some things might be changing at Paramount and early
- 5:00talks are allegedly underway to bundle Paramount Plus with Apple TV. Yeah no,
- 5:12I didn't hear that one. Yeah, so this is not a for sure
- 5:15thing, but it is going around and apparently it made the stock prices for
- 5:18both Apple and Paramount jump on Friday. That's when the rumors started getting out.
- 5:24And the idea is Apple TV and Paramount are kind of like lower tier
- 5:30compared to like Disney Plus and Netflix, so help each other. And also
- 5:33they kind of have different target groups because they were saying that Apple TV is
- 5:40more like prestige television and like goes after big awards, whereas Paramount is more
- 5:46just general audiences and they have a great big back catalog that does not have
- 5:51So they really do compliment each other. So, Okay, I've been thinking
- 5:56about getting Apple TV because I've heard great things about for All Mankind. Yeah,
- 6:01I've heard that too, So I did the free trial. This is
- 6:05funny. This came out because earlier this week I did the free trial of
- 6:09Apple TV because I wanted to watch the Monarch Show and I didn't know this
- 6:13about their free trial. You only get to see the first episode of one
- 6:17of each show. Oh so you can't like binge. No. They on
- 6:23the getting Smart They yeah smart. Yeah, and it's and there's a big
- 6:28pop up you when you click on se An episode two. It's like,
- 6:30all right, we'll pay for it. Oh wow. Yeah, they're they're
- 6:33catching on. I mean there used to be like HBO used to have a
- 6:36free trial, a month long free trial, and people would just you know
- 6:40what, like when the when the Snyder cut came out paper like, all
- 6:43just get the free trial, and you know they'd have it for a month
- 6:45and then Binge watched Everything DC and you know Max got wise to that.
- 6:50Yeah, I think Apple, you can only watch like a little bit of
- 6:54the movie, like the first ten minutes or something, then its off.
- 6:57Yeah, okay, yeah, it's nuts man. So we don't know what
- 7:00the new price would be of the bundle if it even happens. We don't
- 7:03know when it would happen. I'm guessing next year, but the estimates are
- 7:09it would be cheaper than getting the two on their own, which makes sense,
- 7:12right, So yeah, there's one more streaming service I'm probably going to
- 7:16get sucked into. Well, you know, if we got you on the
- 7:20show, the show will then pay for it, right, exactly, exactly,
- 7:26all right, And then our next new story comes to us from Entertainment
- 7:29Weekly. This is kind of a big deal because we've talked about it so
- 7:31much, but we now have officially the SAG after union has ratified their contract,
- 7:41so thank goodness. Yeah, so they're they're going back to work officially
- 7:46for sure. And it's done roughly seventy eight percent of the voters voted in
- 7:53favor and they only had thirty eight percent turnout, So yeah, that's kind
- 8:00of interesting. That is interesting. Yeah, that much higher turn out to
- 8:03authorize the strike vote than the actual strike you know, agreement. So I
- 8:09wonder what that said. I'm sure that says something. I'm just not sure
- 8:11what it says. But you know, from what I've read online, there
- 8:16are a lot of people feeling very defeated and didn't even bother to vote,
- 8:18So I'm guessing that's what it is. They still think that the AI protections
- 8:24are not good enough. But now you know, I've read a little bit
- 8:28about that too, and I kind of tend to agree because they left a
- 8:31lot out in the open. Yeah, but yeah, and apparently the union
- 8:37is telling them, well, we'll go back in three years and we'll we'll
- 8:39fight for it. Then well it's too late at that point, right right.
- 8:43Well, like it's like Dan said the last time we talked about it,
- 8:46you know, once you let that slip in, uh huh, then
- 8:50you're never going to get it out right, so right, And I you
- 8:54know, I've dealt with unions too, and that's that's true. Once Once
- 8:58they get something past you, it's hard to get it out. Yeah.
- 9:01So yeah, so I mean it's good for us in a way, and
- 9:05that like, yeah, that means the strange world is going to get starty
- 9:07getting shooting soon. So yeah, that's that's true. That's true. We're
- 9:13all happy, I mean, all the the audience members, all the consumers
- 9:16of the product are happy. We're glad to have this behind us, you
- 9:20know, because we're part of this too. I mean, the people who
- 9:22are consuming this, this product, they are very much a part of this,
- 9:26right, so right, you know it affects us, Yeah, absolutely,
- 9:31But yeah, so there you go. And then our last news story
- 9:33comes to us from Yahoo Entertainment. Bit of sad news for US Star Trek
- 9:37fans. But it looks like Playmates has canceled their Star Trek Action figure line.
- 9:45They say that sales have not been good and so they are dropping it
- 9:50like a bad habit. This is now this second toy company in recent years
- 9:54to drop Star Trek Action figures. McFarland Toy's did release two figures years ago
- 10:00and stopped after that. Then the license went to Playmate and Planmates is done.
- 10:05Now that doesn't mean we won't get any Star Trek toys, just action
- 10:09figures, right right, playmates will still really ships and what they call role
- 10:16playing items, so like phasers and Troy quarters and things like that. But
- 10:20also looks like Super seven has stopped their line, their reaction line of Star
- 10:26Trek figures, those were apparently not selling, and it looks like only was
- 10:31it EVO six XO six will continue with their with their figures. Those are
- 10:37the really high end, similar to like a sideshow collectibles, like the five
- 10:43dollars, really nice figures, super detailed, super detailed, particulated, so
- 10:48those look like will continue. And then also another company, I forget the
- 10:54name of them, Hya Toys, will continue. They have the Trek license
- 11:01the movie ones, so Christoper, you're Chris bying Kirk and all those guys.
- 11:07Okay, that was so far looked like they will continue, but it's
- 11:11not guaranteed. So yeah, I'm surprised that it lasted as long as it
- 11:16did. I mean, I I have a small you know, I have
- 11:18a collection of of the figures, but to be honest with you, I
- 11:22haven't bought one. Yeah, in a very long time. I don't collect
- 11:26them anymore. And you know, when I when I go by the toy
- 11:31section at a Walmart or Meyer or whatever store, you don't see a lot.
- 11:35You don't see a lot of figure, you know, figures in general.
- 11:39Like I didn't even know that was still really a thing. My kids
- 11:41have never collected figures of anything. But then again, kids nowadays don't really
- 11:46they don't really buy or ask for toys anymore. It's more electronics. It's
- 11:52video games, it's accessories to the video games and things like that. So
- 11:56it doesn't surprise me that playmates were it. Yeah, I do, you
- 12:01know, discontinue making them. But that's also you know, that's that's that's
- 12:07a good news bad news kind of thing, because you know, the bad
- 12:09news is they're not going to be making anymore. But for collectors, the
- 12:13good news is they're not going to be making them anymore. Right, So
- 12:16that's that's what Awol says. You know, do you think the prices will
- 12:18go for the money bay, That's hard to say, man. They the
- 12:24problem is like these you have maybe two waves of New Star Trek figures.
- 12:30They're half waves, right, They didn't do all of like one crew in
- 12:33a wave, like they were saying, only partial of the Prodigy Crew got
- 12:39released, So it's hard for a collector. It's hard for a collector.
- 12:45They want everything, I know, like myself. I went to the Target
- 12:50store here in town. They had them for maybe a week, and they
- 12:52didn't sell and they were on clearance right away. Do you remember what the
- 12:56original price point was? I think they were like twelve bucks, Okay,
- 13:01all right, something like that. I don't think the older ones are going
- 13:05for a whole lot. Anyways, I was at a comic I was at
- 13:09a comic con maybe a couple of years ago, and I remember looking at
- 13:11the finding a booth with like the old original Star Trek the next generation Playmates
- 13:16I think figures, and I mean the prices they were charging for them were
- 13:24pretty close to original retail. Yeah, he could buy him for eight bucks,
- 13:31yeah, eight dollars. Yeah. And I've got all the ones that
- 13:33I've got are all out of the box. They're all missing everything. The
- 13:37couple of things that I do have that I'm kind of proud of. I've
- 13:41got three different versions of Jordi, two of which have removable visors, but
- 13:46again, all mine are out of the box. I I actually display mine,
- 13:50and you know, so I and I have the back, the the
- 13:56like the package back into some of them. But you know, I'm not
- 13:58a I'm not like a true collector of them. I just like to,
- 14:03you know, play with him. Abol says he's got an Insurrection Starfleet Type
- 14:09two Phaser and a TG Trick Harder. So that's cool. Oh yeah,
- 14:13yeah yeah, but yeah, man, I it sucks. It sucks they're
- 14:18not going to sell him. It sucks that they didn't sell to begin with,
- 14:22you know. So yep, it is what it is. But I
- 14:28had the original Bridge play set. Yeah, they might release some playsets,
- 14:33they said, some revamped you know, recolored, right. But when I
- 14:37was a kid, I also love to destroy things and take things apart.
- 14:43So you know, I've got like a wall of that placeet left and the
- 14:48rest is completely gone or lost. So see. And my thing is,
- 14:52I was not into Star Trek as a kid. I didn't get into Start
- 14:54Trek until like I was like twenty okay, so for me, like it
- 14:58was I never had the toys. Yeah. I was actually talking to a
- 15:01buddy of mine yesterday at the party and he's a huge Star Trek guy,
- 15:05has always been and grew up with it, and he didn't have a lot
- 15:09of the toys either. It just it wasn't a toy you play with.
- 15:13It was just a show you watch, right, right, Yeah, it's
- 15:16you know, I've got a friend that tried, he said, he tried
- 15:20to get into Star Trek. Now, I've been friends with him since kindergarten.
- 15:24Yeah, his name is Mark, and he's actually the one that got
- 15:26me through somebody he knew. He's the one that got me all the Star
- 15:31Trek a big giant box of Star Trek toys from a fan of good friend
- 15:35of his that passed away. And he told he was having a conversation with
- 15:41me about you know, when he was a kid and him and his brother
- 15:43used to you know, they would play Ghostbusters and Star Wars and stuff.
- 15:46They tried to play Star Trek and it was like for a kid, there
- 15:50was not much to do. Yeah, let's have diplomacy, right exactly.
- 15:54So it's a lot easier to swing lightsabers around and you know shoot a proton
- 16:00pack that it is to you know, number one set of course for Verdian
- 16:03three, right right, yeah, yeah, And from that point of view,
- 16:07I get it. Yeah, but yeah, I you know, it
- 16:15sucks, but it is what it is yep. All right, Well let's
- 16:19get to our main topic. Fun will now commit. All right, So
- 16:30our main topic is, since it's supplemental, we're gonna be talking about the
- 16:34best news sci fi for twenty twenty three, either shows or movies. We're
- 16:40just gonna kind of talk about what we've seen. We've got a couple of
- 16:41lists to kind of help us out here. There's a lot out there.
- 16:45I have not seen everything. I don't know about you. Oh, I
- 16:48haven't seen hardly. I don't get a chance to see a whole lot of
- 16:52I've you know, some of the main Star Wars stuff. I've seen some
- 16:56of the main DC stuff I've seen. But I'm not as deep of a
- 17:00sci fi geek as as some people are, right, So I don't I
- 17:07don't dive as deep. But what what? What? What are some of
- 17:11the things you wanted to bring up? Well, let's let's kind of good.
- 17:14We'll go through what's kind of come out, and we'll talk a little
- 17:15bit about him. One of the early ones earlier this year was Megan the
- 17:21Robot. I don't know if you saw that kind of horror. I am
- 17:26not in the horror movies. I did not see it. My wife did,
- 17:30and I I saw, you know, I saw the cliff notes in
- 17:33form of trailers and things like that. The concept seemed interesting. And I
- 17:40don't know if they played the horror part well or not. That's not my
- 17:44genre. But my my problem with my problem with movies, well, no,
- 17:51not movies like that. My problem with them trying to bring that concept
- 17:55to life is I can't imagine and then next twenty years, the AI part
- 18:02I get totally, totally believable. I think an AI could go one of
- 18:07a thousand different directions. It could be nice, it could be evil,
- 18:10it could be whatever. The physical robot itself is what I have a problem
- 18:18with. I don't think they can make anything that's four feet tall kick my
- 18:22ass, right, maybe hey, maybe I'm just maybe I've maybe they could,
- 18:29But I just in the next twenty years, I don't see any company
- 18:33making a four foot tall doll that could take this guy. So, hey,
- 18:41yeah, I challenge you. Yeah you don't want that challenge if you're
- 18:45a major robotic company. Yeah you want to fly me out to Silicon Valley?
- 18:51Yeah. I like horror movies, right, and and Chucky is like
- 18:56my favorite, Like he's my favorite horror villain. Yeah, if there is
- 19:00rumors about Megan versus Chucky, I don't know if that's a real rumor as
- 19:03much as just people would like to see it. Sure, and Chucky in
- 19:07his show has taken slight digs at Megan, and they're both owned by Universal,
- 19:12so it is possible. Well, Chucky's more fantasy too, right,
- 19:17I mean, yeah, Chucky's like Voodoo and yeah, but the Megan movie,
- 19:23what was interesting about it is, yes, it is Ai to the
- 19:27m degree, and part of what makes Megan such a threat is it's not
- 19:32her physicality herself, but because she is Ai, she can control computers around
- 19:37her and all that. So it's not just her taking you out, it's
- 19:42what she can do to take you out. Gotch So yeah, so I
- 19:48thought it was a good film. I love horror, cheesy horror movies,
- 19:52so I'm down for it. But yeah, okay, let's see, I'll
- 19:56probably watch it, Okay. Yeah. Another one that came out this year
- 20:02was we had some Marvel. A lot of Marvel is kind of sci fi.
- 20:06So one of them was ant Man in the Wasp Quantum Mania. Yep,
- 20:11yeah, that's the one. A lot of people did not enjoy.
- 20:15It was a solid sea. Yeah, very much to see. Yeah,
- 20:18I thought it was yeah, a see, it wasn't great. It wasn't
- 20:22terrible. Although they did kill Kang with a bunch of ants and I'm supposed
- 20:26to think he's scary. Yeah, they did. You know, these Marvel
- 20:32movies, it's kind of like, do you you might not be old enough,
- 20:37but do you remember watching the original Jurassic Park in the theater? Oh?
- 20:41Yeah, yeah, okay, So do you remember how you felt when
- 20:48you walked out? Yeah, okay, that that sense of I mean,
- 20:52you were just in awe, you were I was excited, we were gonna
- 20:55get chicken nuggets. Oh well, there you go, there you go.
- 20:57But you you remember that feeling you had of yeah, absolutely, you felt
- 21:03just amazed at this amazing thing. And then a few years later, let's
- 21:08let's move forward to like Jurassic Park three. Jurassic Park three was technically a
- 21:14superior movie. It had I'm sure that the special effects had had, you
- 21:18know, grown by leaps and bounds, and there was a ton more dinosaurs,
- 21:22a ton more action sequences, and you walked out of the theater going,
- 21:26yeah that was right. Yeah, it's the same thing. With these,
- 21:30you know, I mean, ant Man uh three is technically a fastly
- 21:38superior movie special effects wise to the original Iron Man. I mean, there's
- 21:44no question about it. There's probably five hundred times more VFX shots in that
- 21:48movie, and they probably spent you know, three times as much money on
- 21:52it. And you know, but you didn't the first time you walked out
- 21:56of Iron Man, you were buzzing. Yeah, and you just didn't feel
- 22:00the same way about Man three. Yeah, I think we've gotten used to
- 22:03it. But I also think that the storyline just wasn't that good. So,
- 22:10yeah, the storyline was That's another thing they do with these movies,
- 22:12is they in addition to thinking that the VFX, the visual effects and all
- 22:18that have to be more complicated, they also think that the storyline has to
- 22:22be more complicated, right, And that's not necessarily the case, which is
- 22:26why I did like and it might be on your list. I did like
- 22:30Guardians three. That was the next one I was going to bring up.
- 22:33Okay, Guardians three was great, Yeah, but was heartfelt more than it
- 22:40was you know, explosions and right and all that, because they dial it
- 22:45back. Yeah, they dialed it back, and they made it they made
- 22:52it not. So you know, that's another thing with all these Marvel movies
- 22:56is you know what what's at stake after you've saved the universe? Right,
- 23:03And and that's what Guardians three did so well, is yeah, they made
- 23:08the steaks so much smaller. Really, the stakes was just instead of the
- 23:12entire universe, it was just about one person. Yeah, well that's why
- 23:17I like, there's there's a there's i think on Reddit, somebody put their
- 23:22pitch for a Batman movie, right since we're going to get a new one
- 23:25in the new DCU, and uh, the idea was basically, Batman has
- 23:30to rescue a kidnap child and that's that's the movie. And it's yeah,
- 23:38it's him being a detective going through Gothams underworld trying to rescue this one kid,
- 23:45and that that would be perfect. Yeah. Really, it's a great
- 23:49Batman story, is it is? It plays on all of his sometimes all
- 23:56of his strengths that aren't really you know that, Like you just said,
- 23:59the the detective part, Yeah, you know, there wasn't in the Dark
- 24:03Night trilogy. I mean, he wasn't much of a detective. And you
- 24:07can have him like questioning poison Ivy you know, Penguin. You can bring
- 24:12in all those characters, right, but the scenes alone would be yeah,
- 24:18great, it would be great, you know. Yeah, but yeah,
- 24:22I really do think scaling it back. And speaking of scaling it back,
- 24:26the next movie on our list The Flash. Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 24:33let's get there. Yeah, let's get there. What did you think of
- 24:36The Flash? You have to remember, this is a movie that had been
- 24:42in the works for years. They had plenty of time to make it great
- 24:48and then to overthink it and then give it, give us what we got,
- 24:53and you know, it was trying to do so many different things and
- 24:59didn't succeed at any of them. Correct. But all that said, I
- 25:03don't think it's as bad as people just crap on it, right, I.
- 25:10I think it's it's fine. I think there's some pretty good, heartfelt
- 25:14moments in it. I think it's it's sad how good Ezra Miller actually is
- 25:21in that role in that movie and he'll never play it again. Right.
- 25:26You know, it was great to see Michael Keaton, you know, oh
- 25:30yeah, sponsor named Sasha Kayelle Supergirl. He was great. You know,
- 25:40what's his name, zod? I forget his real name, Mike Shannon Michael.
- 25:47He was very clearly the already cash a Jack. Oh yeah. In
- 25:52fact, I think the actor said, uh that that's the pretty much the
- 25:56only maybe not in so many words, but yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 26:00So you know, have I I saw it in the theaters. I think
- 26:04maybe, you know, like a month ago, I had a really bad
- 26:08cold. I think I maybe watched it again then, who knows. I
- 26:11was in that cold delirium and high on cold medicine. But oh, you
- 26:15didn't watch what was what was the movie you said you watched when? Oh
- 26:18Star Trek? Yeah, no, Start Trek two thousand and nine. Oh
- 26:22Star Trek two thousand and nine. That's oh yeah, no, that was
- 26:22on the list for sure. But okay, not just watching that on repeat?
- 26:26Right? Yeah? Yeah right? So yeah, all right, Uh,
- 26:33let's see what else is on this list that we can talk about.
- 26:37Oh yeah, uh, another superhero movie, A lot of superhero movies,
- 26:40Spider Man across the Spider Verse, the Miles Morals cartoon movie. Yep,
- 26:45I just watched it last a couple of weeks ago. Oh would you think
- 26:48I loved it? I did not know that it was going to be a
- 26:51cliffhanger. Yeah, yeah, I'm like, because it's getting to be like
- 26:56the Hour and a half bark and I'm like, uh, They're not going
- 26:59to wrap this up many times soon, are they? No, they're not.
- 27:03I thought it was fantastic. I really did. Yeah, you know,
- 27:07the way that they and spoiler alert for anybody who hasn't seen this,
- 27:12but the way they brought in some live action people I thought was really really
- 27:18fun. Yeah, they really know how to tell a story. These the
- 27:23folks that do the animated stuff, They really know how to tell a story.
- 27:26Oh for sure, for sure. Yeah. I thought it was really
- 27:30good. I had a lot of fun with it. I like that they
- 27:33brought in Spider Man twenty ninety nine. Yeah, so I thought that was
- 27:37cool. Another movie on the list. I didn't see this one, but
- 27:41I'm very interested in seeing it. I don't know if you saw it.
- 27:44It's on Netflix. It's called They Clone Tyrone. No, I never even
- 27:48heard of it. Yeah, so apparently it's a sci fi movie that also
- 27:52is a inspired by the seventies black exploitation films and has slapstick comedy and conspiracy
- 28:00theories all through it. It's got John Boyega in it and Jamie Fox it's
- 28:04supposed to be really good. So oh yeah, yeah, it's got a
- 28:12ninety four percent on Rotten Tomato. So yeah, I'll have to check this
- 28:18out. What's it? What's it available on Netflix? Netflix? Okay,
- 28:22yeah, they cloned Tyrone, another new sci fi film that we got this
- 28:29year, just a few months ago. The creator I heard of it.
- 28:33I haven't, I haven't seen it. I saw it. I went to
- 28:38the theaters see it. I don't know about you and your area, but
- 28:41over here we have regal theaters and you can pay like twenty bucks a month
- 28:45and you get the pass you can go to the time you want. So
- 28:49me and a buddy, that's what we do, like just about every weekend.
- 28:52Okay, okay, we've got I don't think we don't have regal theaters.
- 28:56We have a similar deal of okay theaters around here. Yeah, but
- 29:03yeah, this movie, it's all about a war between AI and humanity,
- 29:08but humanity is the addressor okay, trying to control AI. And I was
- 29:15like, we don't want to, like, we just want to live in
- 29:18harmony. It's totally cool. And yeah, what was his name? John
- 29:22David Washington is the lead in it. He is Denzel Washington's son. He
- 29:26might know him from a tenant. I was gonna say, I don't recognize
- 29:30a ton of actors in this. Yeah, Ken want Nobby's in there.
- 29:34It was directed by Gareth Edwards. He directed the first new Godzilla film,
- 29:40the one that kicked out the monster verse. Okay, yeah, Chasmis is
- 29:45right. It's an all right film. The special effects were amazing, absolutely
- 29:48true, and I believe the budget was only like eighty million dollars, but
- 29:53it was. Yeah, it's a great, great film if you get the
- 29:57chance, highly recommend. It can get now on digital. It's available on
- 30:03blue rays and a DVD on December twelfth. Yeah. Another film you could
- 30:07watch tonight. It's on Hulu. It's called No One Will Save You.
- 30:11It is a little bit of sci fi, a little bit of horror.
- 30:15It's about a woman whose house gets invaded by aliens and how does she survive
- 30:19the night. Really interesting film. One of the other kind of like gimmicks
- 30:26of the film is there is no dialogue in the entire script. Oh really,
- 30:30okay, yeah, so it's her she has to emote, she has
- 30:34to you get context cluses for what's going on. The aliens don't talk either
- 30:40they kind of like have a weird little voice to each other, but that's
- 30:44about it. Yeah, Bronson's right. It is a good movie. Really
- 30:48liked it. Some people don't like the ending, but yeah, I thought
- 30:52it was pretty good. Another one I'll have to check out. Yeah,
- 30:56definitely throw that on your list. That's kind of what we do, this,
- 31:00give people stuff to watch over the Christmas bak break. You know where
- 31:03is that available? Yeah, I'm looking some of these up as Yeah,
- 31:10yeah, for sure, for sure. Yeah, another one we talked about
- 31:14before the show started. Blue Beetle, Blue Beetle. Oh man, that's
- 31:19my people's black panther. That's your Yeah. I was trying to figure out
- 31:26a way to dance around that. But yeah, I'll just say okay,
- 31:29yeah, yeah, because I was trying to figure out a way to I
- 31:34was trying to figure out a way to ship on that movie without being insensitive
- 31:37to you. No, I I liked the movie, Okay, I'm as
- 31:47Yeah, I loved the lead in that. We I think he was great
- 31:52in Cobra Kai. Yeah, he's a he's a good I think he's a
- 31:59good actor. You know, George Lopez is great in that. Susan Sarandon
- 32:06as the as the she is twirling her mustache all throughout that movie. That
- 32:09that was my like, oh, come on, that's exactly what I was
- 32:14thinking Toiling Your Bus Pass. It was the negatives for this movie for me,
- 32:20where it was it was a little bit cookie cutter. It's very much
- 32:23Ironman Jr. Yeah. Yeah. The other one I was thinking of was
- 32:29not just Iron Man, but a little bit of Shazam. You know.
- 32:35Yeah, boy boy meets ancient tech slash powers and then sort of has a
- 32:44the entire movies about him trying to come to terms with those powers. At
- 32:45first he doesn't want them, then he does want them, and then he's
- 32:47trying to figure out how to use them and then yeah. So but other
- 32:52than that, they should have got a little bit more inspiration from Flight to
- 32:54the Navigator the eighties. Yes, yeah, one of my favorite films.
- 32:59Yes, it's very similar in that respect. Yeah. Uh, Jesus says,
- 33:04you forgot about your Zam No we didn't, and that's okay. Yeah,
- 33:08and Xam's aren't really sci fi. It's more mystical and right, right,
- 33:15so you watched the Zama the Gods. Okay, yeah, it's fine.
- 33:22But Blue Beetle. I loved it. You know, I'll watch it
- 33:23again. Should I may watch it tonight. You may watch it tonight.
- 33:28Yeah, that's available. I'm snowed in tonight, So you're what snowed in?
- 33:34Really? Yeah, there's it's not that there's a lot of snow,
- 33:37but it's that it snowed, it melted, and then it refreezed, so
- 33:40it's very Yeah. So yeah, after the show, I'm gonna run and
- 33:45go grab my groceries and then that's it. Like you're gonna hunker down.
- 33:50I'm gonna hunger down. Okay, Okay, So but yeah, Blue Beetle.
- 33:57Let's see, there's some other ones on here. There's one I really
- 34:00wanted to see that that I did not get to in the theater because it
- 34:02came in went in the theater. It's called Jewels. It's an elderly man
- 34:07but friends an alien. How do you spelled jewels? To spell j U
- 34:16L E s. You might recognize it when I show you the picture.
- 34:23So that's it. I don't know if you saw those trailers. Okay,
- 34:29it's got Ben Kingsley in it. No, yeah, it's an independent film.
- 34:36It's not even ninety minutes it's it's eighty seven minutes. It's got an
- 34:38eighty four percent on Rotten Tomatoes. So yeah, it says it's got shades
- 34:45of Cocoon and e t in it, and it's a sweet comedic story with
- 34:51full of heart, so okay. Yeah. So the tagline is Milton Saves
- 34:55lives a quiet life of routine in a small western Pennsylvania, but finds his
- 35:00day up ended when a US extraterrestrial pastor in his backyard. All right,
- 35:10well I just took Yeah, you can rent it on Prime or Apple TV
- 35:15or whatever. It's about six bucks to rent, so there you go.
- 35:20It must be an independent yeah, I think so. I think so,
- 35:25which they had. Dependent movies usually have some of the best writing and storylines.
- 35:31Yeah, there was another film. I wrote it down, so I
- 35:37don't know if you saw. Red. Litter Media kind of did their recap
- 35:39of overall movies for twenty twenty three this week, and one of them they
- 35:45brought up was this independent sci fi film. It's not on this list,
- 35:49but they brought it up. And I have not seen this. It looks
- 35:52fantastic to me. A poia apo r I A. I'll put it in
- 36:00the chat. So people can look it up if they want. But the
- 36:02premise is a family member of this man, I think it's his wife.
- 36:07They said she was killed by a drunk driver, and his next door neighbor
- 36:15just happens to be making a time machine. But the way the time machine
- 36:19works is you can't send somebody back in time. It only sends a single
- 36:24neutron through time right either forward or back. Okay, So what the neighbor
- 36:31tells the guy is like, look, if you want, we can send
- 36:37the neutron and kill the drunk driver before he kills your wife. The neutron
- 36:44through him and it'll it'll disrupt his body and kill him. So that it's
- 36:47the fallout of that and what happens. That's some interesting ethical yeah ramifications.
- 36:55Yeah, so it looks really good. It's you know, nobody famous in
- 37:00it. But yeah, but that's the movie list and these guys. I'll
- 37:07put the articles where we got these in the in the descriptions, so you
- 37:12guys can check these out to see what you like. So and then on
- 37:15rank or we have a list of sci fi TV shows which I have not
- 37:20watched a lot of these I have not I probably haven't either, but like
- 37:25there's one on there. A couple of Apple TV ones have been very sci
- 37:30fi, like Silo, which is supposed to be really good hm with Rashida
- 37:35Jones and Rebecca Ferguson in common. I don't know anything about it. It's
- 37:39a ruined and toxic future community exists inside a giant underground silo. I mean
- 37:45that sounds cool. Yeah. Yeah. Severance is one that I know a
- 37:52lot of my friends love that I have not watched. I haven't seen it.
- 37:55Yeah. It's got what's his name, Adam Scott in it, and
- 37:59it's like this weird dark work comedy that's also sci fi based, So I
- 38:04have heard of it, yes, Yeah. One that I have seen the
- 38:07Last of Us. Yeah, I I've seen it in passing, as as
- 38:15the rest of my family's seen it, but I haven't. I haven't watched
- 38:17it myself, so see. And I'm a big Mandalorian fan, so Paeder
- 38:22Pascal is great for me. So yeah, the Last of Us was good.
- 38:28One that I know that a lot of us on this show have watched
- 38:30The Cards season three that came out. Now, that was the one about
- 38:36the old Starship Captain, right, that's right? Okay, Yeah, I
- 38:42think I do remember watching that. His name was Riker. Yeah, yeah,
- 38:45Riker. That's right. Yeah, he had a strong beard as well.
- 38:50He did indeed he did. Yes, that was People seem to have
- 38:53liked it that season three. I'm about ready to rewatch it. Actually nice,
- 38:59it's a season it's it's gonna be the first season of Star Trek that
- 39:01I've got. I've rewatched since Enterprise because I haven't watched I haven't rewatched any
- 39:08of the entire seasons of any of the New Trek. I've watched certain episodes
- 39:13over okay, another sci fi series that came out this year, and or
- 39:22yes, I have I have thoughts, Okay, go ahead, well okay,
- 39:28and I think I've talked about this before. I it's a thriller,
- 39:35okay, all right, and I don't I don't like thrillers. I like
- 39:40Star Wars. I like the characters. So I for for me, for
- 39:46enjoyability alone, I gave it a C. Now. I know I'm in
- 39:52the minority on that everybody loved and or everybody thought it was just so great
- 39:58and it you know, from a storytelling perspective, it was for me personally,
- 40:02it was you know, just a lot of like you know, ducking
- 40:07behind alleys and things of that nature. And you know, I'm also in
- 40:10the minority that the movie that it's leading up to help me out here,
- 40:19Ohgue Rogue one. Rogue one was also not my favorite Star Wars movie,
- 40:23and I know I'm also in the minority on that one too. But I
- 40:29haven't watched Rogue one in a while, so I'm once and Or season two
- 40:31comes out, I'm I'm going to rewatch Rogue one. Okay, So,
- 40:37I mean I love them both. I love and Or. I love Rogue
- 40:39one, but yeah, that's fine. I thought it was a great spot
- 40:44spy, thriller type show, political intrigue, that kind of thing. Yeah,
- 40:47so yeah, I dug it a lot. Also, Star Wars basically
- 40:52had The Mandalorian season three or four, whichever one it is that came out.
- 40:59Yeah that yeah, yeah, that was fun. We also had The
- 41:05Boys gen V that was the animated spinoff, right, yeah, okay,
- 41:12I have not watched that. No, no, no, not that animated
- 41:14spin off, the the College Base, all the college based okay, yea,
- 41:17yeah, yeah, no, I haven't seen that one yet. Yeah,
- 41:21it's great, it's so good, but it's very much the Boys it's
- 41:24yeah, okay, yeah, Chasmis brings up Scavenger's reign. I know about
- 41:30this show. It's an animated show. It's supposed to be just amazing,
- 41:37and yeah it's really good. But yeah's see what else is on this list.
- 41:45Strange New Worlds season two. Yeah, I think I I think I
- 41:51saw that one too. Yeah, it's all right, Yeah, it's all
- 41:53right. Someone was better in my opinion, Season one was better. We
- 41:57talked about this last week. Yeah, you know, there there is no
- 42:02formula anymore. It used to be the first two seasons of a show sucked
- 42:06and then the just the second season. You know that the first season sucked,
- 42:09and you know, if you try to look at it from a Star
- 42:12Trek perspective, I don't know. These these shows are created by people.
- 42:17People are, you know, make mistakes. I don't think they found their
- 42:22footing in season two. It seems like they sort of knew what they were
- 42:25doing in season one. Hopefully for season three, since they had the break.
- 42:30Yeah, they had the the you know, the time in between because
- 42:37normally they they're they're in you know, some sort of pre post production of
- 42:42they have an idea of where they're going at least an idea, right,
- 42:46But with this season, you know, they couldn't even start writing it until
- 42:51apt I think, is that true? Is that? Do I have the
- 42:52timeline right? They couldn't start writing season three of Stranging Worlds until season two
- 42:57had aired. Not that they couldn't, they just weren't yet. Okay,
- 43:02they kind of dictate the way they do that. But then the writer's strike
- 43:06happened, so they weren't finished. So I know that because the writer's strike
- 43:14ended and then the actors one was still going or I think like another month
- 43:17or six weeks, so there's a little bit of lead time where they have
- 43:22written scrips, right, But so like we're in aque, they're in a
- 43:25unique position though to be able to accept and utilize feedback from season two or
- 43:34season three, correct, And that's normally not the case. That's normally not
- 43:38the case because they shot season two as season one was being released, so
- 43:45they had already had their scripts, they had already decided to do whatever they
- 43:49were going to do. So yes, now they have the chance for feedback
- 43:52and we'll see what they do. Hopefully they adhere to some of the feedback.
- 43:59Yeah, you know, I just want more Exploring in my Exploring show.
- 44:02Absolutely, well, maybe we'll get that with Star Trek, Star Trek
- 44:09Lombardo, Star Trek Discovery. Yeah, maybe maybe who knows Chess Visit and
- 44:17a Wolf for talking about Invincible, Oh you're right. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:22that's also a good show. Season two just started up. I love that
- 44:27show. So that was a good show. I'm looking forward to watching that.
- 44:30Another one on the list is Monarch Legacy of Monsters. I've only seen
- 44:35one episode thanks to Apple TV, so okay, yeah, I will say
- 44:40that one episode was fantastic, really all right? Yeah? Yeah, Well
- 44:45if they do that thing where they merge like you said they might, you
- 44:52know, I'll probably get the bundle and yeah, be able to watch all
- 44:57these all these good shows. Like I said, I wanted to an opportunity
- 45:00to watch for all mankind. I would recommend it. Man, it's it's
- 45:06pretty great. There's a bunch of other shows on here that I have never
- 45:10heard of, like The Rig or Lockwood in Company. I don't I don't
- 45:15know any of these, No, never heard of them. Yeah, Rick
- 45:21and Morty, I guess the new season started up. The final season of
- 45:23Doom Patrols started. I just speaking of Doom Patrol. I just watched because
- 45:30I got HBO Max. I just watched Titans. I've been to a series
- 45:37that was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. I'm a big DC guy like
- 45:43that. That's my jam. Yep. And I really had trouble with Titans
- 45:47at first, right because it does not fit conventional DC lore. No.
- 45:52But when I finally decided, okay, this is going to be an else
- 45:57World's in my head, Okay, when I accepted it as an else Worlds,
- 46:01ye, then I got into it. Yep, Yep, I sort
- 46:04of had the same feeling. Yeah, once you accept it for something outside
- 46:07the general you know, storylines, then yeah, absolutely. Oh Jesus brings
- 46:14up Doctor Who, Megosta Doctor Who. So I am probably the only person
- 46:21here or listening to this has never seen a single episode of Doctor Who.
- 46:24I don't think Dan has either. I think I'm the only one on the
- 46:27trail that has. Out of Doctor Who. They're having some specials right now
- 46:32on Disney Plus. There's I think three specials. The third one just came
- 46:37out yesterday. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to. Uh,
- 46:39those are great jumping on points. Man. If you've never ask if
- 46:44I wanted to start. Yeah, basically, anytime there's a new doctor,
- 46:49which is like every two or three seasons, it's always a good jumping on
- 46:52point because okay, they're starting fresh and you can and you can start over.
- 46:58These are kind of cool because it's David Tennant and David Tennant was one
- 47:01of the best doctors and they do a lot of good recap about his overall
- 47:07stories and what has happened, so they do a pretty good job of catching
- 47:09you up. David Tennant is the one that played I think he played kill
- 47:14Grave in Jessica Jones. Correct. Yeah, yeah, you do want him
- 47:19to yell Jessica a lot, and he doesn't do that. Heels Donna a
- 47:24lot in these shows. But yeah, that's his companion. But yeah,
- 47:30it's great. The new one, the one that came out yesterday, has
- 47:34Neil Patrick Harris in it. Love him. Yeah, so that'll be good.
- 47:37And apparently these three specials connect together they have been, so I'm pretty
- 47:44excited to watch it. After the show, I'll check it out, Like,
- 47:46you know, I got to play some ketch up with that. You
- 47:49know, it's very Star Trek like in that it's it's a lot of moral
- 47:54dilemmas trying to figure out what's the good answer are in a hard situation.
- 48:00Sure, And you know, I was introduced to doctor who you know through
- 48:06like TikTok and short short treks uh YouTube shorts and things like that. So
- 48:10I've I've seen a lot of scenes that I guess are deemed important. But
- 48:15yeah, it's good stuff. It's good, but it's the same thing,
- 48:20you know, I was introduced. I'm I'm at the tail end of season
- 48:23three of Game of Thrones. I'm binge watching Game of Thrones for the first
- 48:27time, so I I have never seen it before, but I'm aware of
- 48:32some of the pivotal scenes and some of the you know, important deaths because
- 48:37I've seen them on social media TikTok or things like that, and so I
- 48:43you know, I I know when certain characters die. I know that certain
- 48:45characters die, but I'm still enjoying, enjoying the series. It's it's really
- 48:50really good. Also on this list is Quantum Leap that showed another season of
- 48:55that I have not seen it. Man, Okay, I'm a huge,
- 49:02huge Quantum Leaf fan from the eighties and nineties. From the eighties and nineties,
- 49:07Okay, we saw the first episode of the new one, okay,
- 49:12and then uh it was hard to watch the rest of them because of the
- 49:16NBC Peacock. I couldn't find the rest of them on online. So I
- 49:22don't know if they're available only on premium peacock or if you can probably yeah.
- 49:29See, so I was able to watch the first episode, it was
- 49:31okay. Yeah, So I don't know if it got any better or how
- 49:36that went, you know. I also don't know how how strongly tied to
- 49:40the original series it is. Yeah, I don't know, so, you
- 49:44know, but I love the original. See the original I vaguely remember as
- 49:49a kid, like I don't think it was an appointment TV for my family,
- 49:52right, we were too busy with okay, okay, yeah yeah,
- 49:59yeah sone yeah yeah, sure, sure, all the all the telenovelas,
- 50:05every single one of them. Yeah yeah, you mentioned I've seen it.
- 50:08Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. It's also it's the other one something like
- 50:15that. Yeah, that one too, that one too. There's actually a
- 50:19telenovella of Breaking Bad. They really yeah, it's hilarious watch that. It's
- 50:28not Walter White, it's it's something Blanco. Yeah oh yeah, but yeah,
- 50:37uh yeah, so that's the list. I'll have the full list in
- 50:39the show description. You know, how about Ahsoka, I know that's kind
- 50:45of start. Oh, yeah, that's right. Yeah, I liked it.
- 50:50I thought it was all right. I like seeing Hayden Christians back.
- 50:53Yeah, they did. They did a good job. You know, it
- 50:59got some complaints about some people didn't like exactly where the story went, and
- 51:02some people didn't like. I always confused about the complaints about Rosario at Dawson.
- 51:07I thought she did a fantastic job as a forty something year old Ahsoka,
- 51:15right, because in my mind's eye, if I were to take that
- 51:17teenager into twenties Ahsoka that we've seen in the animated shows, and you make
- 51:22her forty forty five years old, that's Rosaria Dawson's character. Yeah, I
- 51:29thought she did a fantastic job. She's not gonna be as plucky as she
- 51:31used to be. She's not gonna be quite as plucky. And you know
- 51:35they're also saying, well, she doesn't have the same fighting moves. It's
- 51:37a little bit easier to animate a lightsaber battle right than it is to do
- 51:44it live action. Absolutely, and also you know the moves you can do
- 51:49when you're eighteen are a little different than the moves you can do when you're
- 51:52forty five. That's true. So I don't know how it works with Jedi,
- 51:54but at least that's true with me, So I mean I believe.
- 51:58So you know, I can't do the flips as well as I as I
- 52:01could when I was a up. Another good one Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning part
- 52:06one I haven't seen. I've seen the one before that one. I haven't
- 52:09seen the new mission Apossible. So I'm down for Tom cruising his quest for
- 52:14death. Yeah it is good. Is it good? It's it's very okay.
- 52:20Do you have to turn your brain off? Is it just nothing but
- 52:22non stop act? No, it's just it's just like it's it's another more
- 52:27of the same with all these a lot of action, more storylines. Yeah,
- 52:31it's maybe the weakest storyline of them all, but it's still really good.
- 52:35Like it's still yeah, it's good. Uh it's got morales, isn't
- 52:39it. Uh? So you might know him from from Titans he was death
- 52:43Stroke? Oh yeah, yeah yeah yeah, so that guy is the bad
- 52:46guy in Dead Reckoning. Okay, yeah, very good. I've loved you
- 52:52some morales for for a long time. He's been a lot of Spanish shows,
- 52:55so yeah, you know, going back to sorry, going back to
- 53:00Titans. They recently did the series finale, or what turned out to be
- 53:05the serious finale. What do you think of that? How'd you think of
- 53:07the ending? It really felt like they just went, oh, this is
- 53:10the last one ship. Yes, yeah, yeah it It kind of felt
- 53:17I kind of felt the same way watching the end of that as I felt
- 53:21watching the last season of Discovery, like, oh, if they wanted to
- 53:23end it, they could end it here. It felt like they ended it
- 53:29the same way Discovery ended it. Not sure if it's coming back, so
- 53:31let's kind of wrap it up. Yeah, yeah, you know what.
- 53:38One of the things that really stood out to me is that guy that plays
- 53:40a Superboy the first season, I was like, this guy sucks right season
- 53:46two like he's so much better. Oh yeah, the storyline they did with
- 53:51him and yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought where they took that because
- 53:54you know in the comics too, he's he's a genetic clone of both Lex
- 54:00Luthor and Clark Kent was really good too. Yeah oh yeah, yep,
- 54:07yep, oh, which reminds me of the other sort if you're into d
- 54:12c h the Last Lewis Superman of Lewis oh Man. I love that show.
- 54:16That Lex Luthor was harsh, very similar to what they did in Titans.
- 54:22Yes. Yes, And they just announced that the season four is going
- 54:29to be the final season. So I'm a huge Superman fan. I'm wearing
- 54:34a Superman shirt right now. Yeah. So I loved you know, Superman
- 54:39Lois. What do you think of Tyler Hecklan as Superman. I think he's
- 54:45great. Yeah. I when he first came on uh in in Supergirl,
- 54:51I didn't like his look, I didn't like his faith, I didn't like
- 54:55a suit. He grew on me. Yeah, he he plays See.
- 55:00I think anybody can play a good Superman. You know, they've all done
- 55:06great playing Superman. Any actor you mentioned that ever played Superman. It takes
- 55:10a It takes a really good actor to play Clark Kent. Yeah. You
- 55:15gotta be able to do that, that dual role, you gotta. You
- 55:19gotta be able to, you know, figure out that economy of those two
- 55:22characters, and and and be able to play them differently enough but not polar
- 55:30opposites of each other that his clerk isn't like bumbling and kind of stupid,
- 55:34right, but he's he's a competent reporter, right, but he's still a
- 55:38boy scout. He's he plays that. It's subtle. That's what I like
- 55:43about it. It's subtle when he when he's doing Clark, he's not bumbling,
- 55:45but he's still a little boy scouty. Or when he confronts dudes as
- 55:50Clark and he's like, you know, might get in a bar fight.
- 55:52That scene in the diner, Yeah, he confronts his son's girlfriend's dad.
- 55:57That was a fantastic seed. Yeah. Before he leaves, Lois is like,
- 56:01this isn't a job for Superman and he's like, I'm Superman is not
- 56:06going Yeah that was great. Yeah, so I'm sad to see that leave.
- 56:10I understand there's some things going on with c W and HBO and things,
- 56:15but they that show has been really, really good. Oh yeah.
- 56:22A Wolf also says Flash ended this year. Yeah, it did. It
- 56:27should have ended like three years ago. I I was just talking to my
- 56:30son about it. My son's rewatching the Flash TV series. I I'm a
- 56:36huge CW fan. I'm a huge Arrow Verse fan. Yeah, I I've
- 56:40watched all the seasons, multiple times. Ah, the Flash should have died.
- 56:49The TV series should have died and ended after Crisis, Yeah, because
- 56:54after that that's where Yeah, Armageddon, all these other storylines were just crap.
- 57:00The final season of The Flash was you know, I could have written
- 57:06it. Anybody could have written it. It was it was so it was
- 57:10bad. I have nothing good to say about it. I wish I did,
- 57:15you know, I was. I was hoping they would bring back a
- 57:16couple of characters. I was hoping to see maybe Patti'spivott back. I thought
- 57:22she was a fantastic character that they just kind of threw away at the end
- 57:25of season two. Yeah, you know, she had so much potential,
- 57:30especially them doing multiverse stuff. You know, she could have come back as
- 57:34as her alter ego. I just you know, they ended aarrow well yeah,
- 57:40but they just couldn't land the plane with the Flash. And I love
- 57:45the Flash series. I mean it was it was great, but yeah,
- 57:47it was disappointing the way the end. Well, that guy was great.
- 57:52He was my favorite side character of the show, and they got rid of
- 57:54him and it was I think that actor was just done with it. Well,
- 58:00he saw the writing on the wall. I mean, you know,
- 58:01if it wasn't good writing. Yeah, you know, I could get past
- 58:06some of the CGI stuff because it is a you know, it's a weekly
- 58:08television show. But that's no excuse for the writing. It was just so
- 58:14bad, all right, And I hate to crap on my favorite, one
- 58:16of my favorite shows. Well, let's get to some feedback we've had.
- 58:20Jazz was waiting for such a long time before guy, all right, yeah,
- 58:23so let's bring him on. Come on in he he there he is.
- 58:30Darkness, Yeah, hello, darkness and the orb of destinies behind it
- 58:37not putting out much to light either. When are you going to return that
- 58:39to the Bajorans? Yeah? Cot to still it from me? So there
- 58:46you go. It's going on. Man, what sci fi have you enjoyed
- 58:52this year? That Scavenger's reign was really out there? It looks good.
- 58:59I just haven't seen it. Yeah, it's good. It's just it's it's
- 59:01one of those sell me on it. What's good about it? Do you
- 59:05like aliens? Like I mean, I'm start Yeah. Yeah. So it's
- 59:13basically the ship crashes, you know, something happens to the ship, and
- 59:17all these people are separated on this planet, and this planet is alive,
- 59:23with different organisms and everything else, like the bugs and everything just like almost
- 59:30mutate and it's it's I can't even explain it. It's so weird. It's
- 59:36really out there. Okay, sounds interesting. How long are the episodes?
- 59:39I have thirty minutes okay, less than thirty minutes it because I think there's
- 59:45twelve. Okay. It's on HBO Max. And it's definitely not for children,
- 59:52okay, because it's pretty gory. There's those aliens do some creepy stuff
- 1:00:00and it's I mean, it is out there, completely out there. Okay,
- 1:00:06check it out. Just the animation on it, and you'll see like
- 1:00:08the arians and the lake kind of turn into something and infect somebody and kill
- 1:00:15them. And yeah, I mean the animation style. I got some images
- 1:00:17up right now. It looks gorgeous. Yeah, oh yeah yeah, and
- 1:00:23it looks like it's one of those Studio Gimbli. Yeah, it looks like
- 1:00:29that's what it's trying to do. Yeah, like a Miyazaki slide. I'm
- 1:00:35trying to think the other one. There's like a dinosaur one on a HBO
- 1:00:38Max and it's almost like that animation too. Okay, Yeah, I may
- 1:00:45have to check this out. Yeah, it is out there, really good.
- 1:00:49Twelve episodes you can actually finished in like two days, is well.
- 1:00:52And with Max, they just may remove it and you will never see it
- 1:00:55again. I don't know what's going on with Max. Yeah, nobody knows.
- 1:01:00Yes, it's Discovery purchased them. They just keep on plucking stuff,
- 1:01:02adding stuff. And I don't care about the Property Brothers or any of those.
- 1:01:08Oh Darry, Yeah, it's like hospital waiting room. What do you
- 1:01:15see Property Brothers all that. You go to the airport, you'll see you
- 1:01:20know, all the stuff like and all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:01:25so I better binge what I want to on MAX while I have the chance.
- 1:01:30Yeah, we'll see. You're paying premium for MAX and you expect movies
- 1:01:34and quality shows. But when they're got to wrap Christmas presents later, I'm
- 1:01:38gonna watch Crimlins while I do that. Oh nice, that's what I do.
- 1:01:42Like we put your Christmas tree, played Christmas movies or something like that.
- 1:01:46Yeah, when I rep gifts, I throw in a movie. Definitely
- 1:01:50Chris movie. You seem like a thousand times and it's you really don't really
- 1:01:52That would be Grimlins. Gremlins was one of the was one of the movies
- 1:01:58in the trivia game last night. So yeah, really, yeah, I
- 1:02:01remember my mom bought me a bunch of gizmos as a child. Oh and
- 1:02:07she says she watched him and all of a sudden, come back, it's
- 1:02:09all furry and fluffy. I'm like, oh wow, look at this gizmo.
- 1:02:14And yeah, because they were all on sale, like at Walmart or
- 1:02:17something. So she had like a bag full of gizmos because I would wear
- 1:02:22them out, like the eyeballs would be all rapped off, and one of
- 1:02:28our come back and I'm like, oh my goodness, that was excellent.
- 1:02:34That's great. One of our review questions last night was how many home alone
- 1:02:37movies there are? Oh, and apparently there's one. Yeah, but there's
- 1:02:45one apparently in Cannon called Pups Alone. It's home Alone. Are you serious?
- 1:02:53Yeah, Ransom's in it, and as is the jail Ah. Jennifer
- 1:02:59love you it. Oh London, You know that that could actually work if
- 1:03:07they had a good script for I Must Break You. Malcolm the guy from
- 1:03:13Generations. Yeah, yeah, I kind of need to see this movie now.
- 1:03:20Yeah. I'm just thinking of quotes from both of like I Must Break
- 1:03:23You and they say that time is the Fire in which we you know,
- 1:03:27it's gotta be the German Shepherds Boy. Yeah, well start Yourek Generations.
- 1:03:34That's the movie I'm gonna watch sometime between now and Christmas. It's got a
- 1:03:37Chris it's got a Christmas scene in it. Diehards this week? Oh is
- 1:03:43it? It's not over here? Diehard was in my trivia game last night.
- 1:03:46Yeah. I think they've shown it for a whole week. I die
- 1:03:51Hard tomorrow. So yeah, have you heard the Diehard song? No,
- 1:03:55I haven't. No, there's a band called Guys Night and they sing a
- 1:03:59Diehard song. I was thinking about the no, no, no, I'll
- 1:04:05put it in the Facebook group. That's amazing for you guys Facebook you talking
- 1:04:11about Yes, I've heard that song. It's actually pretty good. Yeah,
- 1:04:14it's actually it's surprisingly good. Yeah, but yeah, I'll put it in
- 1:04:16the Facebook group. So go to Facebook for trick Cast, join our group
- 1:04:20and you'll hear Guys Night. Yeah. There's another podcast that they have that
- 1:04:26for their intro. So oh okay, well basically there. Yeah, I'm
- 1:04:30not going to say the name of the podcast. Yeah, day there is
- 1:04:34no other podcasts only listening. We don't want, we don't want to lose
- 1:04:40the listeners we got. Yeah, yeah, we don't need there's no other
- 1:04:44podcast before you. There's no Star Trek podcasts besides this one. I don't
- 1:04:49want to do the others. We're the only podcast period, all your information
- 1:04:54here. That's right. We're bigger than you know, Joe Rogan, and
- 1:04:59that's right, we're bigger. Mister Beast wishes he had the numbers we do,
- 1:05:05that's right, that's right, poor guy. Yeah, maybe somebody will
- 1:05:11throw come on, who wants to get people water? And how there?
- 1:05:17He Bronson says, it is a good song. Where the Goat? Yeah,
- 1:05:24where the Goat? Thanks Paul. Yeah, yeah, the d o
- 1:05:29B. You know, you're like the old the old career, the d
- 1:05:33o B, dirty old bastards, you know. Okay, yeah, I
- 1:05:38was like, what does the stand for? The ogs? You know?
- 1:05:43Yeah? Yeah, the ogs? Yeah, so you guys go way back
- 1:05:48because what this podcast started away right something? Rightly? Yeah, but I
- 1:05:55kind of feel like the e dacks of treck Cast. You're fine, you're
- 1:06:02more like one yuh like yell like you want in there? Yeah, the
- 1:06:09pix like, hey guys, maybe, I mean I guess I could be
- 1:06:14the wharf of the Wharf come in a little bit later. You know.
- 1:06:19Hey, you know when Wharf came in, the show got better. So
- 1:06:25there you go. I'm too scared to ask how our numbers are have been
- 1:06:29since I came on later. I'll tell you later. My apologies across the
- 1:06:36board everyone somebody shooting and there on or whatever. Yeah, there's gonna be
- 1:06:49a universe where I died shortly before. Okay, alright, so track you're
- 1:06:59right there thinking it's like I could do that, all right, But anything
- 1:07:08else you want to bring up? Chess biz, Well, Mandalorian came out.
- 1:07:11We really didn't talk about Mandalorian this year. Yeah, it's it's more
- 1:07:15the same. It was more the same. There wasn't a whole lot of
- 1:07:18new, you know. The most disappointing season of the Mandalorian of the three,
- 1:07:25yeah, yeah, because the first two were excellent and then this third
- 1:07:30one. I was like, oh, wow, we're gonna you know,
- 1:07:32see what happens, Like, is baby Yoda gonna grow up a little bit?
- 1:07:38Do you subscribe to the theory that the Mandalorian is actually baby Yoda,
- 1:07:43that when it's all said and dead, he will be the Mandalorian? About
- 1:07:48now that you mentioned it. Yeah, I have heard that. I'm like,
- 1:07:53I can they could go in any direction they wanted to do. Yeah,
- 1:07:57I guess I could see that. Yeah, the Mandalorian was good ish
- 1:08:01you know, it was for me. It's like Mandalorian Season two B was
- 1:08:09was really good aka the Book of Bafet. But yeah, when he came
- 1:08:14in there and picked up baby Yoda and said goodbye Luke and went on as
- 1:08:20a little adventure. So well, that's the thing. I get mixed up
- 1:08:25between what scenes happened in the Book of Fet and what scenes happened in well
- 1:08:30that because you have the book and then you have a whole episode dedicated just
- 1:08:35to Mando yeah season and you're like, what's going on here? Where are
- 1:08:40we getting a Mandalorian episode. I'm really surprised that Disney has not put maybe
- 1:08:47season one of The Mandalorian on ABC. Ye get more to get more traction
- 1:08:54for it. Yeah, what they need to do is put the whole series
- 1:08:59on there right now. Well you could do it, like, if you
- 1:09:02want to see more, go to the Disney Plus. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:09:08because I don't know how CBS is doing Yellowstone. I don't know how the
- 1:09:11numbers are right, now every Sunday they're playing Yellowstone because there's nothing to show.
- 1:09:17There's you know, yeah, but Yellowstone. Uh, Peacock has the
- 1:09:23streaming rights still, but CBS is showing it on right. Paramount is the
- 1:09:28one who makes them. Yeah, I'll have to get Peacock for just a
- 1:09:30month because I need to watch the second half of season four of Yellowstone four
- 1:09:36or five. But that's that show is definitely done because the Tyler Sheridan is
- 1:09:44having lawsuits with all kinds of people and having ballouts with everybody, and like,
- 1:09:49I guess his company sued the company the coffee company of that is owned
- 1:09:56by the guy that plays Rip Yeah, and and I guess he's had like
- 1:10:00like big fights with Kevin Costner and like it's a big the show. Yeah,
- 1:10:09there's going around and definitely big time, big time. That's got to
- 1:10:15be so awkward though, Like couldn't I don't know, I'm not there,
- 1:10:18but couldn't. Like everybody's making so much money, it's like instead of like
- 1:10:21suing them, couldn't you say, hey, bro, because I left my
- 1:10:25wife, I'll leave the show right right. He's dating Jeweler right now,
- 1:10:30yeah, allegedly allegedly really Okay, hey, good his soul. That's right.
- 1:10:40You come for the jewel of the bike, that's right. All right,
- 1:10:50Well, I think to mention Godzilla minus one. Oh, yes,
- 1:10:57the monster movies. Daniel's big on the monster movies. Yeah, it's not
- 1:11:00that I'm big on them, but you are really big on them. Like,
- 1:11:03yeah, that is the one. Okay, yeah, Godzilla minus one?
- 1:11:08Dude, have you seen it, Scott? I have not, No,
- 1:11:13go see it. Okay, Scott, as a veteran, I think
- 1:11:15you would really like it. Don't watch the previous. Just watch the movie.
- 1:11:20Just watch the movie. Okay, watch the previous. I went in
- 1:11:24there completely blind. I had nothing about it. Heard it's good, and
- 1:11:27I don't have to watch any of the like it's not connected with any previous.
- 1:11:30Okay, okay, I will do that. You'll have a big emotional
- 1:11:35awesome good. I like that. Yeah. I think is it the number
- 1:11:41one or I don't know that, or the the anime Boy and the Heron.
- 1:11:45Yeah, because Japanese right now, they're dominated in the theaters. The
- 1:11:48band's really big in the box office right now. Yeah. Okay. Although
- 1:11:54I did see a ex Twitter or whatever comment that said, like, uh,
- 1:11:59Godzilla minus One and Oppenheimer were two of the biggest movies of twenty twenty
- 1:12:02three. It's a big year for radiation. Yeah, yeah, no kidding.
- 1:12:06I still haven't seen Oppenheimer yet. We don't have to watch amer first
- 1:12:11and then watch god Zilla, so right, yeah, yeah, I do
- 1:12:15also pretty much leads into Godzilla. That's what creates them. He does kind
- 1:12:19of lead into it. Yeah, that's yeah. But I do want to
- 1:12:21watch Oppenheimer and then I want to watch the Barbie movie. Sob movie was
- 1:12:27actually movie was good. Yeah. I haven't seen either one, So yeah,
- 1:12:30we're gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna binge both of them to one
- 1:12:32of these. I was probably gonna win Oscar. I don't know. I
- 1:12:36think he's on an act right now, Yes, I think it is.
- 1:12:40Yeah, but I was gonna wait until Oppenheimer was out on something. I
- 1:12:45know. There was big hoopla about, you know, digital media and Oppenheimer,
- 1:12:48and well he likes the physical media because digital well they're so greedy right
- 1:12:55now. So yeah, and they're not getting the residuals and that's why the
- 1:12:59strike happened. So yeah, makes sense. Bronson says both movies are good.
- 1:13:04Check them out. Yeah. Those are probably the two best like yeah
- 1:13:09movies of the year. So okay, okay, all right man, Well
- 1:13:14thanks for being on the show. All right, well thank you. Anna
- 1:13:17show next week. Yeah, yeah, we'll be back. Yeah, because
- 1:13:20that'll be the week before Christmas and we probably won't have a shoulder h yeah,
- 1:13:26well that would be Chris I think Christmas Day. So yeah, I
- 1:13:30love you guys. No, yeah, okay, awesome, man. Well
- 1:13:35thanks everybody for listening. Absolutely. Yeah, this has been a long one.
- 1:13:39I told my mom it was only going to be a short one.
- 1:13:41So well, all right, we'll see you guys next week. All right,
- 1:13:46sounds good. Take care. This is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep Space
- 1:13:50nine and Space God to the Bajorans. I have a mission for you.
