- 0:14Dan I accidentally got soap in my urethra and occasionally Terry smallo
- 0:19maybe you wake up in the middle of the night with a little sashwat pis inside
- 0:23of you multiple nerdgasm your guide to
- 0:28all things
- 0:33nerdy can I just say [ __ ] my team what's
- 0:39happened they are useless you mean your work team or do you mean the Sydney
- 0:43rabitos no I mean the team I mean oh you don't know about this I'm in a team he
- 0:48knows he listens to the podcast yeah yeah okay I know you're your achievement
- 0:52team my achievement yep they are useless so last week one of them decided to play
- 0:58a brand new game and get some achievements which they scored quite
- 1:01High last week because of that H problem is the way the competition works is the
- 1:07more people get an achievement the less points it's worth yeah it's scaled right
- 1:10yeah yeah true true achievement score true achievements so his true
- 1:14achievement score for that is now minus for this week what a [ __ ] not minus
- 1:21like a few I get minus I'm on probably minus 100 for the entire week I'll be on
- 1:26first day he was minus 500 [ __ ] that's like half an entire game behind just be
- 1:33glad I'm not on your team cuz most any achievements that I get everyone else
- 1:38has got the only achievement I've gotten recently is uh when I started sleeping
- 1:44with my companion in Fallout 4 I thought you were going to say one of your Mormon
- 1:49wives Dan's back by the way yeah I'm back oh yes yeah do you know I made a
- 1:52joke about having Mormon wives on uh on Utah TV did you did you happen to see that
- 1:59I'm sure I didn't I didn't so um the most interviews was just Brian and I co
- 2:05co-director and me but this one was Brian and Brian's wife Laura who's also
- 2:10the producer of the film and uh they're chatting with us about the film and then
- 2:14they said to Laura so how do you know these guys and she goes oh through
- 2:17marriage meaning she's married to Brian and then I said yeah that's right
- 2:21we're in a uh polygamous marriage and uh the woman went oh and then I looked
- 2:27right into the camera and I said and I'd like to thank the state of Utah for
- 2:31warmly welcoming us and the look on the
- 2:35camera woman's face and the interview face it's just Priceless that's [ __ ]
- 2:40awesome yeah you're not meant to make jokes like that apparently oh
- 2:44no yeah sort of understand people are sensitive about religion the funny thing
- 2:49was though because I was in Utah right I was in Park City which is this tiny
- 2:54little town but I mean it's a tiny little town that once a year 30,000
- 2:59people took to come for one week because there's two festivals happening Sundance
- 3:04and slam dance together right and so it's packed out with all these you know
- 3:09the locals go away they rent their houses out but every local that I did
- 3:14meet I just couldn't help but ask them are you a
- 3:18Mormon and most of them said no I'm not a Mormon and the closest I got to
- 3:24meeting an actual Mormon was at about 3:00 in the morning I met this
- 3:28intoxicated girl on the street who tried to ask me if I was going to a
- 3:32party and could she come and uh I was like no I'm going home and you should
- 3:38too and but then I couldn't help it and I said though are you a Mormon and she
- 3:44said up until the end of last year I was but then I started doing things that I
- 3:50really enjoy that the Mormon church on and I didn't ask her to elaborate but
- 3:57man because I didn't want her to say drinking you know like just have like
- 4:01just having one wife yeah exactly right yeah exactly right not having any Sister
- 4:07Wives like yeah if you if if you're a wife of a of a [ __ ] gentleman are the
- 4:11other wives your wife They're Your Sister Wives oh are they is that that
- 4:16sister wife yeah okay okay oh good I'm glad someone's CAU that covered yeah no
- 4:20no they they worked out a name for it don't worry yeah Joseph Smith's got it
- 4:24covered yeah he's [ __ ] got it see everything that I know about Mormons I
- 4:28learned from The Book of Mormon the Broadway musical oh man you know what so
- 4:32I was in Los Angeles right for the
- 4:35weekend because of misadventure and
- 4:39uh I looked online and the Book of
- 4:43Mormon comes to LA in two weeks time oh
- 4:47man I was so disappointed so good and I just spent the week in Utah like it
- 4:53would have been the perfect time to see Book of Mormon oh man cuz right now the
- 4:58only things I know about Mormonism I learned from Big Love With Bill Paxton
- 5:02so I heard they're bringing it to Australia but it's going to be like the
- 5:06backup cast which I mean it's probably fine I mean the play is [ __ ]
- 5:09hilarious any I've already got tickets for it oh really when is it uh 2017 oh
- 5:14all right well I don't live in Australia so that doesn't help me is it still
- 5:18playing on Broadway probably if it's still playing on Broadway I'll go and
- 5:23see it after you we should all go see it yeah actually we should do it actually I
- 5:26would love to see it again I was lucky enough to be with Luke when we were
- 5:29going to see it because as you know lukee just somehow manages to you know
- 5:34stumble his way into things right and this this for the listeners The Book of
- 5:39Mormon is a a Broadway musical by Matt Stone and Trey Parker from South Park
- 5:43and it sells out like it was sold out yeah and we have like weeks in advance
- 5:48yeah we were in New York and Luke was like I want to go see that and I was
- 5:50like there's no way we're going to get tickets and Luke was like H we'll figure
- 5:53it out it's like fine whatever so we walk down to the theater and there's a
- 5:58line there and and we're like what's this and they're likeoh it's the line
- 6:01for you know spare tickets for you know when there's like leftovers or standing
- 6:05room only tickets and all that jazz and I was like oh looks like we're going to
- 6:10wait in the line I'm like all right fine we'll wait in the line for
- 6:12disappointment later so I think I bought a hot dog and then I stood in the line
- 6:16with you we get to the window right and we're like um two tickets and they're
- 6:22like oh standing room only and we're like that's fine so we get two tickets
- 6:25MH they hand them to us and then literally she pulls the down oh closed
- 6:31wow and all the people behind us were like a was Luke in his wheelchair at the
- 6:36time no cuz that helps especially in America cuz Luke in the wheelchair with
- 6:42the beard and the tattoos you probably look like a veteran no that says I was just the
- 6:48walking stick then but I might bring it for next trip I would I would so I
- 6:53recommend listeners if you're going to go away on a trip take Luke with you
- 6:57he's like a little blind Stone hoing Clover of luck you just kiss him for good
- 7:02luck I swear I was kissing him for luck I don't need a
- 7:07lot unless you're his mobile phone yeah in which case you will be smashed stay
- 7:12off the Hulk ride stay off the Hulk well you know let you can't take a mobile
- 7:16phone we've discussed this you can't take a mobile phone onto the Hulk cide I
- 7:19proved it you can't take anything on there no you can Luke proved you can
- 7:23what do you mean you just it just gets F uh he I went with Luke right he took his
- 7:30phone on got smashed yeah I went back there a couple of years later metal
- 7:34detectors you can't take anything on there now really theyit minute I because
- 7:39of Luke they changed the rules that's that's the only assumption I can make
- 7:44magnificent I I put everything in my Lo Jenna got so mad at me because we're
- 7:48putting stuff in the lockers and I I put most stuff in there and then I left like
- 7:51some coins and [ __ ] in my pocket cuz I was like they're not going to care about
- 7:54that and I got turned back and sorry I'll clarify first I got turned back
- 8:00because I had my phone on me and I said you didn't say phone you said bag and he
- 8:04was like put your phone in the locker as well so I was like fine so I went back I
- 8:08put the phone in the locker came back up he was like fine go in got up to the top
- 8:12where you get on the ride metal detector what's in your pocket coins back you
- 8:16go for [ __ ] sake coins I was like change your sign
- 8:22yeah strip naked Beyond this point yeah exactly yeah if it's not inside here it
- 8:28doesn't go on the ride [Laughter]
- 8:32speaking of uh speaking of have you guys have you guys ever been groped by a man
- 8:39I I can't say I have Matt um no not at
- 8:44all what do you mean by groped exactly yeah well do you mean have I had a
- 8:49doctor touch my balls is that what you're asking I do mean that I do mean
- 8:53that oh then yes many many times at least they said they were doctors right
- 8:58it was in alley behind a PB but he did assure me he was a doctor did have to
- 9:03pay him but see okay see I went for a medical all right and I
- 9:09expected that that might happen except it never came up right and so I thought
- 9:15maybe it doesn't you know yeah maybe I'm just being paranoid I've seen too many
- 9:19movies yeah so I get in there checking my reflexes checking in my ears checking
- 9:22my eyes gets me to stand up checking my balance you know like poking poking the
- 9:27stomach area to make sure there's no um you no issues there and then all of a
- 9:30sudden into the pants he's like all right just checking the balls oh what he
- 9:34straight into the pants he just went into your pants it wasn't like he didn't
- 9:38ask you to take down or anything NOP hand in and he cough cough all right no
- 9:44hernas just check the balls yep all right wait and then I and then and then
- 9:48and then was like all right went over the table over the desk to write some
- 9:51stuff down and I was like well that just happened yeah did did you just wow no
- 9:56consent well I mean implied consent cuz I mean obiously I went in there now I
- 10:03went in there to have the medic she was at my [ __ ] house office so that's implied
- 10:08consent [ __ ] man yeah I just I didn't know that was going to happen that's
- 10:13that's my point well but every time it's happens for me I've known it's coming me
- 10:16too it's only happened once and he said to me look I'm really sorry but I'm going to have
- 10:22to so would you please in your own time when you're feeling comfortable take
- 10:27your pants down and then give me the nod saying it's all right for me to come and
- 10:31touch you yeah not just yeah let me give a little feel it was very quick because
- 10:35I assume he was you know came instantly yeah he's very experienced well he's not
- 10:40doing it for fun either right so he he just kind of you know when he was hold
- 10:45my hand and that's that's done and then I thought maybe he just didn't want to
- 10:49talk about it either sure he we were just like let's just move on you know
- 10:54what if I was a doctor and I had to like part of my daily routine was grabbing a
- 10:58guy's balls I reckon I'd do it like that too just like and they did it done now
- 11:02we don't talk about this because we're men and move on I wouldn't want to be
- 11:06like question when do we start have to worrying about prostate exams are we
- 11:11getting to the age yet over 50 I think oh we're good good for now do you want
- 11:14to just we could start checking each other for prostate problem we could
- 11:17start checking each other I mean would you who would you rather do it to you a
- 11:20[ __ ] stranger or a good mate you know
- 11:24well I mean a qualifi training it knows what to look for yeah where you're just
- 11:30sticking your fingers in it's like um oh you do it with your finger okay not
- 11:36interested I'm going to do with the most sensitive part of my body look totally
- 11:41totally unobstructed so yep you're
- 11:45good well we did talk on this podcast before about the new robot that medical
- 11:50schools are using to teach people how to check prostates because no human guinea
- 11:56pigs are available yeah there was uh I remember kyl
- 12:01Pilkington talking about it once with Ricky jaes and he was like why can't
- 12:06they teach me to do it myself cuz you're not a doctor yeah uh
- 12:10do we have a jingle for Matt gets grubbed by a
- 12:15man we do now mat
- 12:21get [Music]
- 12:24by we have any additional groping news or
- 12:29trying to find I don't think we do we don't even have any dick news this week
- 12:34oh oh we do we do I've been a terrible
- 12:37terrible podcast host and I failed to put the dick news we were sent by a
- 12:43listener in the spreadsheet I knew there was something busted out [Music]
- 12:51Nows listen to cognac Legion has sent in some dick news it's about a 99 million
- 12:57year old erection 99 million year old Direction that's definitely over the 4
- 13:02hours 99 million year old yeah it's impressive scientists have found inomed
- 13:08in Amber in Southeast Asia where in Southeast Asia this is very
- 13:13important uh I don't know if it says but uh all right they found an arachnid so a
- 13:20spider yeah with an erection
- 13:25what so an arachnid with an erection nearly half the size of its body has
- 13:30been found in Southeast Asia preserved in Amber for millions of years wow I
- 13:36mean if I'm ever caught in Amber that's how I want to be definitely found well
- 13:40if I'm ever up against a tree chances are I'm
- 13:43erected also it does say it's in Myanmar actually I feel sorry for him why this
- 13:50is how he gets known no one finished him off he died with the erection he didn't
- 13:54finish yeah ah you're famous now Larry you know toon Carmen died with an
- 13:59erection too and Howard Carter stole it is that just cuz he was a teenager yeah
- 14:03I think so no I think it's quite common to die with an erection I think if I
- 14:07died as a teenager I would have had an erection oh definitely probability yeah
- 14:11100% yeah now it's 50/50 but back then most
- 14:17likely before [ __ ] historians start writing into this podcast and
- 14:22criticizing my pronunciation I'm aware that you're supposed to say t an Amun
- 14:26right but I'm not going to say that cuz I'd be like yes uh did you know that the
- 14:30Pharaoh tat died with an erection everyone would be like what a wanker who
- 14:34it's just one of those things you have to say wrong or you sound like a dick I
- 14:38didn't know that is that true yeah correct is that just based some linguist
- 14:42has come along and said I think you'll
- 14:47find some linguist on Reddit yeah that it's yeah exactly they've like look it's
- 14:51three separate hieroglyphs okay it's not
- 14:54a [ __ ] name Tian C right y well this is interesting unlike male
- 15:01spiders and scorpions which use modified legs to transfer sperm to females in
- 15:05tidy packets like it says tidy tidy NE like not like the mess we make
- 15:12um most harvestmen including the one found in the amber fossil insert into
- 15:17genital openings next to the female's mouth Parts oh I'm going to come on your face
- 15:24yeah like they're the original like team felatio yeah that's great team felo yeah
- 15:30you don't you're not a member of team felo I'm a member I didn't know there was actual
- 15:37team I'll link you to the video you're in
- 15:42it that's right you don't have to be awake to be in team felatio [Laughter]
- 15:49Luke so that's dick news this week you're in some other teams too L don't
- 15:53worry that's right some other teams you don't need to be awake for you're going
- 15:57to need to update your resume well it's got dark it's got real
- 16:04dark well we've got some porn news do you want to hit us with some porn news
- 16:08yeah I mean the porn news this week is great basically uh porn was
- 16:13inadvertently played at somebody's funeral instead of a video tribute to
- 16:16them and their dead baby it's [ __ ] awful yeah so a man his pregnant wife
- 16:22and their year- old baby or in a car that crashed and the man and the baby
- 16:29were killed then at their funeral service in Cardiff in the UK the priest
- 16:35said we will now remember his life with these images yes Simon's life Simon and
- 16:41Simon Simon and Simon Jun roll roll the playback and then mournfully they played a porn
- 16:48clip now the article doesn't say exactly what was happening in the clip which is
- 16:54disappointing I I really hope it was at least someone who looked like him
- 16:59so that at least half of the people there thought that that was meant to be being
- 17:04played man that sucks there's an investigation happening right they're
- 17:09saying the who it is yeah and the the their best bet so far is that because
- 17:15it's a smart TV it automatically connected to someone's Bluetooth when they
- 17:21arrived what and started playing and look I can I mean if you were the priest
- 17:28in this situation that is what you'd say right he say his words his words I've
- 17:33never seen such film I promise yeah in other words I've been watched this one
- 17:37yet yeah that's right oh get that off and uh and Link me the URL there's
- 17:43there's two possibilities here there's either that was the DVD that was still
- 17:49in the player from before y or or that's what they were
- 17:54handed oh yeah or that I never thought of that yeah
- 18:59[ __ ] we'll all remember Simon doing what he loved I I was going to say I
- 19:04like and when I say I like I mean come on this is a horrible thing that
- 19:07happened but I like the bit where it says thankfully an engineer came to fix
- 19:11it and turn it off so like they had to wait for someone to turn up stop it it
- 19:16took 4 minutes of it playing before it got turned off you no one how to work at
- 19:22television okay let's uh someone would have had to have hit play four minutes
- 19:27that same person could hit stop can I uh can I ask our editor please insert after
- 19:32this 4 minutes of porn
- 19:36audio and that's not going to be
- 19:42interesting you better not be jerking it over there see it's not the first thing
- 19:45that pops into my head is to masturbate in a toilet chances are I'm erected oh
- 19:50God it is you just want to see the penis I don't think that's really provocative
- 19:54that's just creepy if you give your taint a bit of a push oh it's amazing so
- 20:00your trousers come down oh it is it is good oh I'm going to come on your face
- 20:06oh my God harmonious he didn't finish it
- 20:11was just very very dry I'd like to talk to someone about problems with my unit
- 20:15oh DN yeah you'd never know that it uh it was faked so I know you're not faking
- 20:21it ah sleepy time you're the wind beneath my wings Maddie and he didn't
- 20:26[ __ ] you you [ __ ] him it's going have been a nice thing between us and you had to ruin
- 20:32it and that was 4 minutes so that's how long they listen to it for porn in in
- 20:39this situation is awkward immediately 4 minutes is a lifetime in this situation
- 20:45the funniest thing too is that the priest says he doesn't look at the
- 20:49screen while they're playing who obviously does this every day he looks
- 20:52at the audience right so he said it took him a little while to realize they all crying
- 20:59turning away he's like I know this is emotional but you need to watch this to
- 21:03get closure oh man this is and he's like odd choice of
- 21:10Music normally we go with an Adele song but this is quite good
- 21:14[Laughter]
- 21:18too oh that's awful oh man I really hope they come out and say whose point it was
- 21:24I don't think they will we're trying to establish whether it's a smart to well
- 21:29that's Bluetooth a Wi-Fi connection well it's not true just I'll tell you but here's no
- 21:35okay here's an interesting thing right an annoying thing that happens in my
- 21:38home right I have a Bluetooth stereo right and if somebody else has connected
- 21:44in the past they have to disconnect
- 21:48before I can connect mine and sometimes I just arrive home and it'll
- 21:54automatically connect to me and my podcast that was playing in my
- 21:58headphones will just start playing through the speakers oh yeah you know so
- 22:03I mean it can happen yeah okay how many people there who don't work there would
- 22:10have connected to it before you're right there some guy some
- 22:17some intern at the back's like oh my
- 22:21God yeah if I don't say anything there's no way they can know that's
- 22:27me oh dear I I look I don't want to take a
- 22:34you know a sad note from well I mean you know should be a sad thing but um I just
- 22:39just down at the bottom of the of the page I've got a little popup you know
- 22:43link to a new article that says reasons why cancer pain is one of the worst
- 22:48kinds of pain and I would have thought that's obvious right cuz it means you've
- 22:53got cancer so you've got that on top of the pain right I sh they're going with a
- 22:57psychological angle on that guess have have you had worse pains
- 23:03than cancer pains Pain's pain I don't Define cancer
- 23:08pain I'm not sure is it the pain from the cancer or the pain that you get from
- 23:15trying to get rid of the cancer yeah or just that cancer is a pain like oh this
- 23:18cancer is a pain yeah a such a pain I'm got to go to the hospital again it's
- 23:23going to take 10 years of my life school going to have to ask Nelly Portman out
- 23:27again yeah it was a pain yeah yeah anyway we can cut that if you don't want
- 23:32that in there doesn't bother me well speaking of pain something that might be
- 23:38painful on the ears yeah is a it's a tribute album by one of the worst
- 23:43artists out there yeah in my opinion my humble opinion not just yours mat
- 23:46according to this article Kaner West is planning to release a David Bowie
- 23:51tribute album and everybody and I mean everybody yeah is clamoring there's for
- 23:57him not it to to get that legally veto can I sign up for that now and and just
- 24:04to clarify Matt when you say he's going to record a David Bowie tribute album he
- 24:09plans to rap his own lyrics over David Bowie
- 24:14music I'm not sure we need that in the world I'm [ __ ] certain we don't need
- 24:21that mat yeah we definitely do not need Kanye West in the world on on the one
- 24:27hand I mean if he wants to do it fine he's going to have to pay a lot of money to
- 24:33David B's estate and then he's going to release this thing and and I mean it
- 24:38looks like no one's going to want it mhm so yeah go go ahead I guess I don't know
- 24:45I'm on the petition page right now and I'm thinking of signing yeah
- 24:49I'm right now yeah all right fine we should we just sign it as a podcast like
- 24:55a united front no I want to sign it as a podcast and as the three of us so that
- 25:00we've got four names on there yeah okay
- 25:03fair fair point does it say what songs
- 25:07he's planning on uh Rebel Rebel oh yeah
- 25:11and I clicked off the page it was Rebel Rebel familiar with that one yeah yes
- 25:18you'd know it you'd know it Kanye has already starting creating versions of
- 25:21Rebel Rebel and heroes [ __ ] hell summer straightforward covers with
- 25:27Kanye actually singing others he's rapping his own lyrics over
- 25:31boe's music that just I don't know what's worse well look is he doing this
- 25:37because he's actually a Bowie fan or is he doing this because he's a money fan
- 25:42he's doing this because he's a money fan he's a genius that's you could
- 25:46forgetting this if You' ask him he will tell you he is a
- 25:50genius I feel like a petition's not going to stop somebody like this but I'm
- 25:54happy I'm happy to sign unfortunately with him it's he doesn't I don't I think
- 25:58listens to what people say he's the George Lucas of Music yes here's what he
- 26:04said Kanye believes the torch of musical
- 26:07innovation has now been passed to
- 26:13him now that David Bowie is dead it's up to Kanye to uh I don't know make music
- 26:19about space and crossdressing has Kanye West met David
- 26:25Bowie I mean we may maybe we don't know the answer to that but and and my next
- 26:30question was my next question was going to be like David Bowie like him yeah and
- 26:36we're not going to find out the answer to that either I assume he hasn't
- 26:39because Google image brings up a lot of
- 26:42uh mashups photoshopped images of them
- 26:47both uh like for magazine covers and articles which I assume means there's no
- 26:52actual photos I can't imagine David Bowie having the slightest inclination
- 26:57to want to meet Kanye West no I don't think so he probably doesn't even know who he is
- 27:04no yeah speaking of witch speaking of David Bowie and we've already talked
- 27:09about it sad that he's died yes
- 27:14um there was a new planet discovered in our solar system the week of his death
- 27:19you think he became a planet I think if they don't name the planet planet Bowie
- 27:25then that's an injustice against this High civilization it does seem very
- 27:31appropriate did we already talk about this when we discussed Bo's passing when
- 27:35that quote about him wanting NASA to shoot him into
- 27:41space uh no I don't think we talked about that he he had looked into it to
- 27:46go into space and NASA wouldn't allow it and he came out in the papers and said
- 27:50yeah I wanted to go into space but NASA wouldn't allow it they're some of the
- 27:53most unreasonable people I've ever dealt with
- 28:00refusing to shoot a pop star into space oh um didn't Johnny Depp pay for
- 28:06Hunter S Thompson's ashes to be launched into space they W launched into space
- 28:10they were put into a rocket that were launched above Hunter S Thompson's
- 28:15property oh so just to like low earth orbit or something yeah yeah so he's now
- 28:21the stratosphere yeah wa yeah scattered in the trees at the end of his Paddock I
- 28:26guess yeah right okay interesting but yes that was the idea but what actually
- 28:31happened was more of a symbolic gesture than actually taking Hunter S Thompson's
- 28:36ashes to space well that's all you can hope for really yeah I've decided I want
- 28:41to be buried on Mars really yep you might have to hold
- 28:46out you got to fill out the forms then Luke no no no cuz I'll be dead this is
- 28:52my last wish is to be buried on Mars so you guys got to handle that okay so who
- 28:56wait so you want us to bury you on Mars I don't care who you just have to
- 28:59organize details yeah all right well you might have to hold off a bit
- 29:05because well I guess it doesn't matter right because we'll have your ashes no
- 29:08matter what no no no no I don't no I'm buried I'm not ashes right well then
- 29:12you're going to have to hold take a body to space do we yep there was an article this week
- 29:18actually that uh I it's not in the spreadsheet because it wasn't wasn't
- 29:21super funny or interest or you know bring it up then Matt no no no it was
- 29:25just about uh it was just very very dry it was about how um some some scientists
- 29:32have approached you know the the government in the US to say that NASA's
- 29:37ma Mars plans are overly optimistic and unlikely to to be realistic and blah
- 29:42blah blah all this kind of stuff so you might have to wait a little while Luke
- 29:47um all right I I think I got a good 10 years left in me 10
- 29:52years I hope you got 10 years Luke [ __ ] hell I hope so as well I don't
- 29:57want to deal I not want to deal with that yet yeah yeah no no I think I think
- 30:02I've got well I'm 30 something now I reckon I can make 50 something I can
- 30:07make 50 right oh you just going to give up after that wake up it's my 50th
- 30:13birthday well I made it I'm getting too old for this
- 30:19[ __ ] just small targets yeah that's not aing high just
- 30:25live life day at a time well we're talking about Kan and another rapper is
- 30:30is IC tea yeah have we got some IC tea news this week of course we do do we
- 30:34have a jingle for IC tea news yeah and it's going to be in the style of I can't
- 30:39remember his band I almost said body jar it's not body jar no it's body count
- 30:45it's this is so this jingle is going to have to combine body jar and body count
- 30:49and no one who's not in [ __ ] Sydney is going to know what the [ __ ] body jar
- 30:53is go look them up they're a great band play D with you
- 31:00want let this wizard know into my humble home as anyone can see with
- 31:07I oh god what have I
- 31:12done what's the news the news is that uh
- 31:17well here's the headline the headline is IC te accidentally records Dungeons and
- 31:23Dragons audio book right which is slightly untrue doesn't
- 31:28accidentally record a D and D audio book he does record a d and audio book he
- 31:33just didn't pay attention to what the voice over job was when he took the gig
- 31:37and when he arrived at the studio and said okay what am I what am I reading
- 31:41today they handed him a D and D manual and he was like are you [ __ ]
- 31:48[Laughter] serious so here are some uh some
- 31:52comments he made during the uh during
- 31:57the the recording when he I guess he's got a podcast yeah apparently he does
- 32:03apparently he does and apparently he talks at length about it so if you do
- 32:06want to listen maybe we'll check that link in uh yeah okay I'm going to listen
- 32:11to his podcast because he's actually pretty interesting sorry Pro yeah for
- 32:13sure so he said things like it took me three and a half hours to read 25
- 32:18Pages this [ __ ] is impossible to me Pegasus pegas the horse with wings this
- 32:25[ __ ] is crazy
- 32:30[Laughter]
- 33:20[Laughter]
- 33:28around again nobody outside Sydney knows who that is by the way I te's real name
- 33:32is Tracy Lauren marrow huh two girls names and then the [ __ ] that's inside
- 33:38bones so I don't I don't blame I te wow
- 33:43I got to say I I uh I've seen a lot of interviews with him and he's pretty
- 33:49smart he's a cool guy he's a kind of guy who like if you interviewers try and
- 33:53trip him up he's got he's always got an answer in an intelligent way you know
- 33:58when you got rappers and you think they're posing or they're like you know
- 34:01cuz they're all gangster or whatever right and people try and call IC tea out
- 34:04on it and he's like he's like no no no I was I [ __ ] went to jail for for
- 34:09literally robbing liquor stores and stuff like that well you watch an
- 34:11interview and anytime they try and call him out on something he's like um before
- 34:15that I was in the Army yeah right it's like all right fine and then he's got
- 34:19really intelligent things to say about um history of rap and stuff like he did
- 34:23do made a documentary he directed a documentary about rap oh wow actually
- 34:27what find funny is he seems to just be available for stuff like like this DND
- 34:32audio book you know like apparently I know you can get to read it like he must
- 34:38just do stuff for cash and I watched this documentary once on Princess
- 34:42Diana's death and he was talking on it like as like an expert witness because I
- 34:48think they were just like okay who's what celebrities we can get who can we afford
- 34:52okay I see I te on this I think I'll do anything it probably is just the fact
- 34:58that cuz he everyone knows him but he's not really a so he probably just does
- 35:03any work he can pick up sure yeah well I have a question because uh I
- 35:10noticed something about audiobooks and I guess I don't know for some reason it
- 35:14only became apparent to me the other day um and I wonder if I does this I had an
- 35:19audible subscription oh yeah yeah and and so I've got a bunch of books on
- 35:23there I put it on hold cuz I haven't been listening to them but on the way to
- 35:26work on the train often I listen to to them if I'm not listening to podcasts
- 35:29and I listened to the Martian oh yeah on Audible mhm right uh and I also recently
- 35:35have been listening to another it's a science fiction audio book I think it's
- 35:37called the the synchronicity War um it's like a science fiction book but I I I
- 35:44didn't really think about it so much when I was listening to the Martian but
- 35:48in this it became very apparent but apparently it's okay right for the the
- 35:53obviously American actor who's reading
- 35:55the book to do voices for minorities oh
- 36:01right or not minorities but just other accents because in the Martian I didn't
- 36:06notice it so much when I was listening to it but then when I heard one
- 36:09character in it that's why no no well there is right he's and and they're very
- 36:13good I got to say the voice actors they're very good Pi the guy read the
- 36:16Martian uh and I mean it's their job and they're actors so obviously you know
- 36:20they're supposed to be doing this but they they keep track of what all the
- 36:23characters sound like and it's always consistent and they you know like when a
- 36:26certain character speak they do a different voice and noticeably different
- 36:31like they do a very good job listen to some great Star Wars audio books like
- 36:34that right well in the Martian uh I can't remember the character's name but
- 36:39the guy on um at Nasa who's kind of in charge of of rescuing him is a guy with
- 36:44kind of a like an Indian name I think and and anyway so in in the book he's
- 36:49got an accent like an Indian accent and I mean that didn't even twig with me at
- 36:53the time that and but then I was listening to this other book the other
- 36:57day and a character pops up who's the captain of this Starship got a Japanese
- 37:01name and he speaks in a little broken English Japanese accent with a oh we're
- 37:07going to jump her into the system and I was like Wow wait a minute use you is
- 37:12that okay I was like whoa okay I mean I guess the guy did some research and it's
- 37:18an accurate broken English accent I mean I don't know it just seems strange to me
- 37:22on that note I wonder if Ice T does that I hope so I hope he does a different
- 37:25voice for every little [ __ ] Goblin and yeah halfling I'd love to think that
- 37:30well we've already discussed on this podcast how between us we don't really
- 37:34find fake accents to be offensive but then again if I hear someone put on a
- 37:39bad Australian one I do get a bit funny about it like in that [ __ ] abysmal
- 37:43movie about the giant robots oh Pacific ring those fake Aussies I was like just
- 37:47get Australian actors to play those roles yeah well we're definitely not a
- 37:53minority that's the uh maybe that's what it is I don't know I just thought it was
- 37:57weird I mean I wouldn't have done it you know what I mean like I would have
- 38:00played it safe and not done it yeah like does does this guy go in right where he
- 38:04go he goes into the studio and he's recording this book and he's like right
- 38:07yeah i' I've read through the book uh is it okay for me to do a little little
- 38:12Japanese accent for this guy and then and then the publisher goes well he he
- 38:18he Japanese yeah it be racist not to do it it' be racist to do his voice in an American
- 38:24accent right exactly yeah I don't know I just thought it was like like strange
- 38:28cuz you wouldn't really it reminded me of um Mickey Rooney in breakfast of
- 38:33Tiffany was it that bad no of course not but did make me
- 38:39think if it was a actual film you wouldn't be allowed to have a white guy
- 38:43there going we are now jumping into the star system no no you would not we do we
- 38:50lose Luke or is he just staying this Luke doesn't be racist on this podcast L
- 38:54of things I just don't understand it's it's not a thing it's just he was
- 38:58reading the book so he just did the voices MH yeah but my dad reading me
- 39:02stories when I was 5 years old I would
- 39:05insist he do the voices if he dared read
- 39:09characters in his omnipotent reading voice no right does not cut it no but I
- 39:16mean it's very effective and like I said the guy the guy is doing this they're
- 39:20very good at it and and I'm sure it's authentic and I'm sure they would do it
- 39:23unless they knew they were doing it right like I'm quite impressed with the
- 39:27way they keep track of it and all that kind of stuff and like I said I mean
- 39:29they're professionals that's their job but it is it is pretty impressive that
- 39:31the way this this guy is able to create characters basically with just his voice
- 39:37like it's very impressive but yeah I just thought it was a bit bit strange
- 39:41and again I hadn't even noticed it before but then just in this one case
- 39:44with this Japanese Captain I was like he's doing a funny japanese voice well
- 39:48he's not doing a funny japanese voice no I know and like you're right the only
- 39:53reason I think that is because I know he's not Japanese so that's the reason that I
- 39:57think it's a funny voice or he is Japanese and he decided to read the
- 40:01narrative in an American accent that was a sound of my
- 40:07mind I'm going to check on that I just thought it was interesting yeah yeah
- 40:12while we're on book news I bought myself a Kindle oh did you yeah oh you finally
- 40:17did yeah I was in America I went to a Best Buy got a Kindle yeah I like it I
- 40:23do like it it's much smaller much lighter and much easier to look at than
- 40:27iPad cuz I'd stopped using the iPad and started buying books then I was informed
- 40:32recently that I was not allowed to buy any more books because I have an
- 40:36abundance of them and uh so the Kindle was I'm going to have to burn some of
- 40:43mine that's right yeah your um your grandpa can teach you how to do
- 40:48it touche but no exactly right if you know we're traveling we're going to move
- 40:54again you know we don't want to be lagging a a whole bunch of books around
- 40:58so you know the Kindle is and I'm enjoying it had to buy it in America cuz
- 41:02you can't buy them here really yeah because we don't have Amazon here so
- 41:06Amazon products are not available okay yeah yeah no yeah my Kindle's good I
- 41:12like it I sometimes go through a period where I'm like I don't need it I've got
- 41:14my phone I'll read on my phone but it's not the same no it's not the same well I
- 41:18find it's not the same well even when I had an iPad I never used to read on it
- 41:21because you have to get it out you then have to open the app wait for the app to
- 41:26load and whereas the Kindle it's I've turned it on I'm where I sto yeah and
- 41:31the other thing I mean and this is anecdotal but they say that it's not
- 41:35good to look at a screen like a like a a normal computer or iPad or iPhone screen
- 41:41or whatever when you're about to go to sleep because of the blue light the blue
- 41:44light tells your brain it's daytime and I mean this is anecdotal but I do find
- 41:50if I'm reading on my iPad I don't get tired whereas if I'm reading on my
- 41:55Kindle before I'm I'll read AAP and I'm like sleepy
- 42:01time yeah cuz that's how I talk and the other great thing is the battery lasts
- 42:07forever yeah yeah it does so pretty happy with that purchase and you know
- 42:12quite affordable I will say this um I didn't buy a case for it because I
- 42:16didn't want to be too careful with it I wanted to be something I could just
- 42:19Chuck in my bag always have with me um and so on the first day it got this
- 42:24massive scratch on it and I was like ah well well that kind of sucks be careful
- 42:29uh screens are very easy to crack on them oh is that right okay yeah Luke
- 42:33Luke turned one of his into a paper weight okay I'll keep that in mind the
- 42:37the the back of it you don't care about it's that front screen you can crack
- 42:41them and it's very pretty when they break I've had mine for a few years and
- 42:45the back of mine it's like it's one of the older ones it's not a touchscreen
- 42:48one and the back is kind of like a uh like a kind of rubbery grip surface you
- 42:54know so you can hold on to it and I bought a case the second day that I had
- 42:59it and the I guess what must have happened is I've been using it I've been
- 43:04reading it right and then I've got the case and I've popped it into the case
- 43:08and I must have left like fingerprints or something on the back because it was
- 43:13in the case for years and years and years and then the case actually started
- 43:16to to fall apart so I took it out of the case and the back the the kind of
- 43:20rubberized back M has brown discolorations in the shapes of where my
- 43:26fing were oh because I must have let I don't know maybe I was eating I just just left
- 43:33disgusting greasy fingerprints on it I guess and and then put it in a case and
- 43:37then just over time they've disc discolored the plastic on the back and
- 43:40that's my disgusting Kindle news for the week do we have a jingle for disgusting Kindle
- 43:48news disgusting Kindle news this is a jingle heavy episode now
- 43:54now that I'm not able to play Jingles live to technical difficulties do we
- 43:58have a jingle for technical difficulties mean Matt can't play Jingles live on the
- 44:02podcast yeah but you have to play that in live now like get your guitar
- 44:07technical difficulties mean Matt can't play Jingles back live on the podcast
- 44:13perfect now you should have to remember that every
- 44:17week technical difficulties M Jingles
- 44:21live back on the podcast that was bad no that was excellent
- 44:27yep could you even hear the guitar yes and that was everything it needed to be
- 44:33I because I have these headphones on I'm almost certain I was not in the same key
- 44:36as the guitar surprisingly not too bad all right good done I mean you're going for comedy
- 44:42right oh yeah I guess so oh speaking of books
- 44:49sorry um Stephen King Author not a big
- 44:53fan of um Stanley Kubrick's The Shining that almost doesn't surprise me it's
- 44:58pretty different from the book yeah did you well I'm I read cuz I
- 45:03I I mean I like the book but I also like the movie but then I read this and I was
- 45:07like you know what he's right um he says the character of Jack
- 45:13Torrance has no Arc in that movie absolutely no Arc at all when we first
- 45:17see Jack Nicholson he's in the office of Mr Alman the manager of the hotel and
- 45:21you know then he's crazy as a [ __ ] house rat all he does is get crazier in the
- 45:26book B he's a guy who's struggling with his sanity and finally loses it to me
- 45:30that's a tragedy in the movie there's no tragedy because there's no real change
- 45:34he's right that's true but if you believe what the scholars tell you about
- 45:38that movie is that
- 45:41Cub's aim was not to show you jack going
- 45:46insane it was to allow you to go insane with Jack and discover along with him
- 45:52and that there are all sorts of things like patterns on the carpet suddenly go
- 45:56the other way and stuff like that and the geography of the Overlook Hotel
- 46:02never matches so it's like a dream so you walk from one room into another in a
- 46:06continuous shop that you've done before but you're in a different room this time
- 46:10and stuff like that so it wasn't so much a typical hero's journey it was more of
- 46:16just a a character study of a man going
- 46:21insane yeah okay well fair enough I mean like I I still like the movie I just uh
- 46:26I read this and I was like oh yeah he's got a point there I'm still yet to see
- 46:30it you haven't seen The Shining no I've I know no all about it I know the story
- 46:36I've just never got around to seeing it I wonder if you'd even like it now like
- 46:40if you just saw it story because of The Simpsons i' oh there's been many many
- 46:45different parodies where it's come along and yeah that's where you piece it all
- 46:48together and you work it out it's the shin do you want to get
- 46:54sued oh it's a good movie you should should watch it yeah and then read the
- 46:58book should I read the book first no need they're different enough no they're
- 47:04yeah yeah good point I will say the the f I mean spoilers I guess but the
- 47:08funniest thing about the movie and I I don't I assume maybe this happens in the
- 47:12book but my favorite thing is the way that you know they're all trapped up at
- 47:16the hotel and then through the through the shining the the little kid contacts
- 47:22you know the the caretaker and he travels all the way up there in a
- 47:26blizzard in his snowplow like he makes all the way up to the hotel and finally
- 47:32gets there and he walks in the front door and then [ __ ] get chopped in the
- 47:37back with an ax and dies immediately utterly useless thanks for
- 47:42your help buddy I really like that bit yeah do you
- 47:49guys know who Danny Lim is no okay so if you're in Sydney you've probably seen
- 47:54this guy he's a very very old old Chinese man with long white hair and a
- 47:59Long White Beard and he carries signs around that say like smile and stuff
- 48:03like that yeah I know yeah yeah he's he's a he's a mural on the wall at uh
- 48:07the malor hotel in New oh really yeah he's like an absolute icon of Sydney but
- 48:12uh he's in jail now why because he took it one step too
- 48:17far and this week he had a sign that said Abbott you're a
- 48:22[Laughter] [ __ ] also he he's behind he's a bit late
- 48:28I know not even the Prime Minister he gives a [ __ ] about Abbott
- 48:33now everyone's forgotten about so Danny Lim you're our geek of the
- 48:40week of the [Music]
- 48:47week that was the slightly racist jingle that I made for
- 48:52him just pretend it was an audible audio book this podcast is brought to you by
- 48:58audible audible do sponsor a lot of podcasts it's not because they haven't
- 49:02approved they won't approve us no I bet they listened to the show and they went
- 49:06no cuz almost every podcast I listen to could get Audible has a [ __ ] audible
- 49:12yeah we just can't get it not this one so you guys are on my side when we say
- 49:17season two of Serial is [ __ ] boring right speaking of podcasts I listened to
- 49:22half the first episode and just stopped I tried I can't do it I listened to I I
- 49:29I was interested for the first couple of episodes and then it it got really
- 49:34boring and it's just repetitive and stupid plus now it comes out every two
- 49:38weeks so you've kind of even forgotten that it was even on anyhow that's not
- 49:41what I want to talk about what I want to talk about is the fact that there's now a
- 49:46spin-off that is a recap of season 1 have you been listening to that I
- 49:53haven't listened Oh you mean the the updates from the hearing yeah yeah I
- 49:57have yeah so that's that's worth hearing yeah that was that's been interesting
- 50:02yes yeah I think they've just missed the mark with what was interesting about Cal
- 50:07was interesting for something that happened so long ago and to go back
- 50:11whereas what they're talking about now it's in the news well I mean elements of
- 50:15the new season are interesting to me anyway I found it somewhat interesting
- 50:19but I but again like it gets very very dry and into like military procedure
- 50:25episodes that are out so far could have been condensed into one 1 Hour episode
- 50:30yeah I agree there's a lot of repeating the same stuff whereas in season one you
- 50:36were convinced that every single bit of information you were listening to was
- 50:41imperative yeah actually you know what someone said to me the other day that I
- 50:45think actually I think it was was Jordan Genesis said that
- 50:50um the last two episodes of making a murderer were like we've got to make up
- 50:55we got to make up 12 episodes and I was like yeah you're right they
- 50:59could have been they could have been all smooshed in together you watch the Jinx
- 51:02yet Matt it's not on Netflix I got to find it
- 51:06somewhere find see it in Italy all right let me let me let me
- 51:12sort that out where I saw
- 51:14it my um my my go-to in Italy has been
- 51:19unavailable no it's okay right all right so yeah but uh as you mentioned
- 51:26mentioned there is a kind of a side thing happening on the serial podcast
- 51:31feed now because um those who have listen to the first season of Serial
- 51:36would know Adnan saided was arrested for allegedly murdering his his
- 51:41ex-girlfriend at the time it was proven he was guilty right true but he he he
- 51:46went to jail uh and he's been in jail for a long time and he's he's having a
- 51:49hearing now to determine whether he should get another trial
- 51:55because uh they feel he attorney dropped the ball kind of [ __ ]
- 52:00up and so uh the hearing's happening now and um Sarah kanig the the host of
- 52:06Serial has been in Baltimore at at the courthouse every day except for today
- 52:12she wasn't there because of the Super Bowl I guess that's not that's not true
- 52:16that's not trueing footb yeah that's not true she said it was because she had to
- 52:20actually work on the actual season episode of seral don't bother I'd rather
- 52:26you stay in Baltimore and follow this [ __ ] up yeah I know right but yeah so
- 52:30she's been doing daily updates which has been really cool yeah there's been three
- 52:35so far um they skipped Monday because she was back in I don't know where is
- 52:41she from even I don't know anyway she was back in her office uh and then she
- 52:45was going to be back there Tuesday which I guess will be nowish as we record this
- 52:51podcast so it's interesting because they've got Asia mlan in there talking about stuff
- 52:57yeah and uh they're trying to work out whether her her testimony should be
- 53:02admitted and there's been some question as to whether her testimony is valid and
- 53:06stuff it's interesting yeah te tear it's definitely more interesting than season
- 53:11two of cial yeah yeah it is no one's talking about it remember the first
- 53:18season like you heard everyone talking about everywhere people that didn't
- 53:21listen to podcasts or know what a podcast was figured out how to listen to
- 53:25it yeah now most of the time most of the updates I saw about season 2 were like
- 53:29season 2 of Cal oh I listen to it and I don't care mhm yeah I I feel bad for the
- 53:36guy in a way because uh I don't know
- 53:41I it is sort of an interesting story and I do want to know more about why this
- 53:45guy did what he did uh for those who don't know it's about a a soldier in the in the US
- 53:51military was in Afghanistan and he W he left his base he basically abandoned his
- 53:55post and got captured by the Taliban and was in he was with them for like what
- 53:59four years he was captive 5 years he was captive uh and then eventually America
- 54:04traded some Taliban hostages to get him back and people were pissed off about it
- 54:09because they were like well [ __ ] him he he he's a traitor own father like he he
- 54:14he left his post and it's it's all about his story and and why he did what he did
- 54:20and they haven't really gotten to that yet no I think that's the problem the
- 54:23problem is that I still yeah I still don't even know they had a whole episode
- 54:28about somebody else who was kidnapped yeah then they had a whole episode about
- 54:33women who were trying to get in touch with him and couldn't that's not a story
- 54:38I am interested to hear the next one cuz I Have you listened to all of them I
- 54:42think I've got one I haven't heard well the most recent one was about because
- 54:46you know the reason that he wandered off he says the reason he left is because he
- 54:50wanted to get he wanted to get in enough trouble that he would be put in front of
- 54:54somebody that he could complain about stuff that he thought was a problem in
- 54:59his his his team whatever you call it
- 55:02yeah Squad unit his unit right he wanted to he wanted to get in front of somebody
- 55:08that he could talk to about some serious problems and because no one to talk to
- 55:11someone about problems with my unit exactly I should have just gone to
- 55:15my doctor um and then yeah so the last episode was about what those problems
- 55:22were and they're pretty underwhelming I'll be honest yeah and they're the kind
- 55:29of things that I would assume a soldier in Afghanistan would have to put up with
- 55:34I mean it's not it's not [ __ ] that I have to deal with on a daily basis but
- 55:37I'm not a soldier in Afghanistan right and but she says at the end in order to
- 55:43understand why he felt that they were so important you have to understand more
- 55:46about him and apparently that's what the next one's about so I'm interested to
- 55:48hear about it because I mean it's all stuff about him getting that people get
- 55:52in trouble for uniforms and stuff stuff that I assume happens in the military
- 55:56yeah it's about the rules it's not about people get it's all about people getting
- 55:59in trouble for not shaving or people getting in trouble for for not having
- 56:03their body armor or helmets on and stuff like that and he's complaining about it
- 56:07because he felt that it was an insult to the fact that they were actually doing
- 56:11good stuff you know that's what you do like I know in the Navy you have if you
- 56:14want to grow a beard you have to apply to be able to grow a beard you get weeks
- 56:20to grow it they will then look at your beard to see whether or not it's growing
- 56:25in full or anything and then you're allowed to continue or you get told to
- 56:28shave it off that's just yeah what it is it's like I don't know it's not it's
- 56:31it's the army man they're not like they there to give you yeah they're not there
- 56:36to give you a hug and say it's all right just you know keep trying it'll be fine
- 56:40yeah just shave when you can buddy like I don't know I mean on the but then I'm
- 56:44not in his shoes like I'm sure it's [ __ ] awful over there fighting and
- 56:46stuff so whatever I don't know I'm interested to see why why he feels so
- 56:51strongly about these things but I'm just sort of like he's he didn't really think
- 56:55he's true because he would have got in trouble for it so the people who he had
- 57:00to face wouldn't have cared about what he was complaining about they would have
- 57:05gone yes what he ended up doing was far worse than any of the things he was
- 57:08trying to complain about right but he well that's and that's why I'm
- 57:12interested because he clearly unless he's lying about why he did it unless he
- 57:16was just trying to for [ __ ] off cuz he didn't want to be in the Army anymore if
- 57:20if he's serious if he he thought these things were serious enough then I am am
- 57:27pretty interested to hear why why to him
- 57:31this stuff was so important that he that he did this because you know his his his
- 57:36plan was I don't know did you did you listen to all even for wi this is
- 57:41overkill right right he when when when somebody goes missing right they call
- 57:47they it's a massive deal right and they call on this this search parties and
- 57:50it's a big [ __ ] deal it's called a dust one right it's a big [ __ ] thing
- 57:54right his plan was to disa appear he was going to leave they discovered that he
- 57:58was gone this whole big emergency would be called he was going to make his way
- 58:03to I think a Pakistani military base and then because they're sort of allies he
- 58:10would he would go there and then they would return him and then he would get
- 58:14in trouble but he would then be put in front of generals or somebody who would
- 58:19be telling him off and then he could say yeah but here's why I did it and then he
- 58:22would unload all these really serious issues and here's what I think about
- 58:28[Music] that yeah yeah well so far I agree with
- 58:35you yeah yeah I don't know I think it's interesting the reason better be [ __ ]
- 58:40compelling I am curious to find out because again they did an episode on on
- 58:46what his reasons were and I I don't know they weren't that serious he wants to
- 58:52complain so I will go wander off and then all these people will come looking
- 58:55for me putting their lives in danger well the thing because everyone has said
- 59:00there are very strong like if something is actually going wrong and and by wrong
- 59:06like off the books then there is a channel that you can go through to voice
- 59:12that and they take complaints like that very seriously yeah because the other thing
- 59:17is and they talk about this on the show as well his the problem is a lot of
- 59:22people are saying he was [ __ ] a
- 59:25captive for 5 years he's had 5 years of
- 59:30shitty shitty life you know being being a hostage to think up a reason other
- 59:37than I just didn't want to be in the Army anymore yeah so yeah I don't know we'll see
- 59:43we'll see let's stop talking about it or will we yeah yeah let's move on sorry
- 59:48that that went on longer than I minute to for something that that we don't find
- 59:51interesting here's something we don't find interesting I guess I guess I do
- 59:54find it interesting in a way I guess you
- 59:57do I guess so anything else you find
- 1:00:02um um well we've talked I talked about the hateful Aid a bit
- 1:00:08um somebody saw it I can see that in the notes yeah did you watched it yeah
- 1:00:14watched it yesterday actually yeah did
- 1:00:17you like it yeah I did not bad okay um I
- 1:00:22didn't like all of it uh uhhuh there's one scene in particular that I
- 1:00:28disliked because it was a scene from a completely different movie shoved in
- 1:00:31there and no explanation why there's a [ __ ] New Zealander just suddenly
- 1:00:36acting like a [ __ ] tour guide when that really wasn't the tone of the movie
- 1:00:41up until that point MH yeah there a few things like that we actually we talked
- 1:00:45about this on when we reviewed on necronom I think um I did some cursory
- 1:00:49research to determine whether New Zealand accents were legit for that
- 1:00:55period oh yeah and I think New Zealand itself existed for about 20 years at
- 1:01:00that point so yeah absolutely Maybe not maybe not but whatever it's not that
- 1:01:06kind of movie yeah that's true um
- 1:01:12yeah okay but you know quite quite liked it I quite liked some of the the mystery
- 1:01:17it was almost like there's an old um General you're going to have to beep
- 1:01:21this there's an old Agatha Christie book called 10 little that
- 1:01:27um that's really what it's called sometimes when they publish it now they
- 1:01:31call it 10 Little Indians cuz they think that's less offensive but I'm not sure
- 1:01:34it is I know but um depends on where you live yeah correct the uh if you live in
- 1:01:41Pakistan it's it's not what did you [ __ ] call
- 1:01:47me but uh the the premise is kind of similar you've got all these people in a
- 1:01:53room somebody's not who they are saying they are other characters are starting
- 1:01:58to catch on and one by one they're starting to drop dead so the premise I I
- 1:02:03liked I like that kind of thing I thought it was a good setup for a movie
- 1:02:08I thought the characters were pretty good uh thought the guitar smashing
- 1:02:13scene was uh pretty interesting once I read up on the details of that uhhuh
- 1:02:19yeah I just read about that yeah so there's a scene where uh the hostage
- 1:02:24who's played by Jennifer Jason Lee um is playing a guitar an old e style acoustic
- 1:02:30guitar and Kurt Russell gets the shits with her and smashes it yeah and uh
- 1:02:37apparently that guitar uh was actually period
- 1:02:41appropriate and was on loan from a museum um yeah for it's a it was a
- 1:02:47Martin guitar I guess um it's Mar that old and I guess so
- 1:02:54yeah um and they were told after the they the film finished and everything
- 1:03:00and then they were told ah sorry um the guitar was destroyed due to an onset
- 1:03:06accident and then now the museum director saw the movie when and saw the
- 1:03:11movie he's like do you mean smashing it on purpose yeah because apparently Kurt
- 1:03:17Russell was not told that it was a Priceless Irreplaceable artifact and
- 1:03:21they had a prop made for him to smash yeah I I have a question why did
- 1:03:27they have it to begin with if they've got the prop yeah well she she plays it
- 1:03:31I guess she plays it live too I guess they wanted an authentic sound which is
- 1:03:35a bit weird for a Tarantino movie because there's Brit pop as part of the
- 1:03:39soundtrack and as we've discussed [ __ ] New Zealand it comes up out of
- 1:03:44nowhere [ __ ] Sam Jackson talking about his Dingus yeah that was weird did
- 1:03:48they say did they say Dingus back then do we say Dingus now [ __ ] and by the end
- 1:03:55of that story I was like what are euphemisms is he going to come up with for
- 1:04:00his I know that's that story I thought I it went a little bit too far personally
- 1:04:04but anyway so Kurt Russell smashed the guitar in a tragic accident and the
- 1:04:10museum when they were told they thought oh they thought maybe something fell on
- 1:04:13it some scaffolding or one of the you know something and no [ __ ] they said
- 1:04:18when they saw the movie they were like well that's [ __ ] yeah and so money has
- 1:04:24been paid but apparently the loss of the guitar is immeasurable it's not about
- 1:04:28the money it's about history in fact it was almost which I agree with that yeah
- 1:04:33oh no I agree as well and I think I mean look I'm assuming it was obviously an
- 1:04:38accident cuz you know although the guy says um I think this is the author of
- 1:04:45the article saying I wouldn't be surprised if someone forgot to tell Russell it wasn't a
- 1:04:50prop like you know mhm mhm what who is he quent Tarantino just hates classic
- 1:04:57guitar well he'd have to imply that not only Quenton Tarantino but all the ads
- 1:05:01and the props Master for to tell him you reminded me of when I read this it
- 1:05:08reminded me of when we were filming my short film yeah and you Dan my short
- 1:05:14film starring Daniel Miller that never got finished so you can't find it anyway
- 1:05:18thankfully I was probably terrible with that there's a scene where you you're
- 1:05:25holding your walkie-talkie which we had borrowed from somebody yes and then the
- 1:05:30walkie-talkie starts misbehaving and you you get frustrated in the scene and then
- 1:05:35method actor during one take yeah method actor you got the [ __ ] and smash the
- 1:05:41walk talki on the ground you know what's
- 1:05:44funny like I looked like off camera after that moment and all I could see
- 1:05:50was Gordon freaking out yeah yeah and then Gordon his list
- 1:05:56uh that was that was a walkietalkie that he borrowed off somebody sorry it was
- 1:06:00basic it was kind of the same situation finish filming that
- 1:06:06we yeah and we should apolog oh now who now the person that Gordon borrowed the
- 1:06:11walkie-talkie off is going to listen to this podcast and be like I [ __ ] knew
- 1:06:14it I knew it scaffolding my
- 1:06:19ass that's all for this week thank you for listening and we hope you enjoyed
