- 1:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:58Speaker 3: How are you guys doing today as we're on the
- 2:00Speaker 3: cusp of suds, pups, and pints tomorrow?
- 2:02Speaker 6: We're doing good.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Everybody doing good?
- 2:04Speaker 6: I don't want to speak for everyone else. I'm sorry.
- 2:06Speaker 7: I'm well.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Russ, yesterday was a four. Yeah, yeah. Today, I would
- 2:10Speaker 2: say like a seven. Good seven, huh?
- 2:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:12Speaker 2: What changed it? Just another day, a different perspective.
- 2:16Speaker 8: Got it.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Okay, Jack, how's your number-wise? Seven. Seven, all right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 7: Seven.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I think solid.
- 2:22Speaker 7: Twins.
- 2:23Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:24Speaker 3: I mean, I think today's a solid seven as well.
- 2:25Speaker 3: The weather's great. I mean, can I tell you, the
- 2:27Speaker 3: weather's worth five points itself. I like to leave a
- 2:29Speaker 3: little room for improvement.
- 2:31Speaker 7: All right.
- 2:31Speaker 2: I appreciate that. Where are you on the number? Are
- 2:34Speaker 2: you a seven, eight? I mean, usually the day before
- 2:36Speaker 2: this gig, you're freaking out.
- 2:38Speaker 10: No.
- 2:39Speaker 6: No, I'm a seven.
- 2:39Speaker 8: Yeah, good. All right, good.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 11: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Look at that.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I ordered a Sam Adams. Big show coming up tomorrow,
- 2:46Speaker 3: of course. We're going to be in downtown Mount Dora
- 2:47Speaker 3: for Suds, Pups, and Pints, the fourth annual as we
- 2:50Speaker 3: raise money for the Humane Society of Lake County. And,
- 2:53Speaker 3: you know, I saw a piece today regarding Amendment 3.
- 2:57Speaker 3: that really brings this into play. While we're doing this,
- 3:01Speaker 3: these guys are really not supported by any government money,
- 3:04Speaker 3: but a lot of the no-kill shelters are. I read
- 3:07Speaker 3: today that if this Amendment 3 passes, a lot of
- 3:09Speaker 3: the no-kill shelters that operate in other counties and other
- 3:13Speaker 3: areas of the state will face a really good chance
- 3:17Speaker 3: of getting factored out. So our and what we're doing tomorrow,
- 3:21Speaker 3: raising the money, is so vital. It really is unbelievably vital.
- 3:25Speaker 3: If you really do care about this in your life
- 3:28Speaker 3: and the no-kill shelter and animal shelters in general for
- 3:31Speaker 3: adopting out animals and giving them those forever home type things,
- 3:37Speaker 3: this is a very important gig for us tomorrow to
- 3:39Speaker 3: raise money for these guys so that they don't get
- 3:41Speaker 3: factored out and we can still continue to provide this
- 3:43Speaker 3: beautiful service for Central Florida.
- 3:44Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely. And speaking of giving props, I want to
- 3:47Speaker 6: thank the crew over at Fox 35, Good Day Orlando.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah?
- 3:51Speaker 6: Yeah, they gave us hits throughout the morning promoting the
- 3:53Speaker 6: event tomorrow. Oh, that's awesome.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Thank you, guys.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Yeah, John Brown, Daniel Knox, Amy Caulfeld, Stephanie Rivas, Jessica Dobson. Yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 6: they all chimed in and talked about what beautiful weather
- 4:02Speaker 6: we're going to have for tomorrow and really promoted and
- 4:05Speaker 6: pumped up the event. So thank you, guys.
- 4:06Speaker 2: That's awesome. I love that, guys.
- 4:07Speaker 6: That really is, yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Also, I want to send a big shout-out to our
- 4:10Speaker 3: friends over at– oh, my God, he's sending it to
- 4:12Speaker 3: me sideways.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Send it to me sideways.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Remember I told you the guy who was going to
- 4:18Speaker 3: donate some plants?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Yeah. He was going to donate a shopping spree. He
- 4:22Speaker 2: did that.
- 4:23Speaker 3: He dropped it off at the Humane Society today.
- 4:25Speaker 8: Oh, cool.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So it's a $ 900 retail value. We're going to go
- 4:29Speaker 2: to a wholesale.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Plant club, and whatever you spend, it has that much value.
- 4:34Speaker 3: You go there and get plants, and I have to
- 4:35Speaker 3: tell you, I just spent money on plants.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:39Speaker 6: And going to a nursery, that's a good time.
- 4:40Speaker 2: It is a good time. So we've got a bunch
- 4:41Speaker 2: of stuff coming up tomorrow.
- 4:43Speaker 3: All the stuff I'm bringing out from Legendary Whitetails and
- 4:45Speaker 3: Thorogood and Kat.
- 4:46Speaker 6: I've already told Chris. I was like, when you see
- 4:48Speaker 6: that whitetail come out there with those flannel blankets, you
- 4:52Speaker 6: get that bit in there.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Dude, we have some really cool stuff happening tomorrow. Can't wait.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Super psyched. Obviously, I'm going to be in the dunk
- 4:59Speaker 3: tank trying to raise money for these guys. If you
- 5:01Speaker 3: want to come out, if you really hate me, and
- 5:03Speaker 3: I know you do. Come take your shot.
- 5:05Speaker 2: We're going to do it. It's $ 5 a ball.
- 5:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Five for 20 or something like that.
- 5:09Speaker 6: It's just $.
- 5:10Speaker 2: 5 a ball. $ 5 a ball.
- 5:11Speaker 6: And make sure you bring a change of clothes and
- 5:13Speaker 6: a towel.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I'll do that for sure.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I'm bringing a go bag so I can go. If
- 5:19Speaker 3: they drop a 20, can the fifth ball be for free?
- 5:21Speaker 9: No.
- 5:22Speaker 12: What?
- 5:22Speaker 2: I think that's a great idea. Maybe.
- 5:24Speaker 6: Hey, you know what? Yeah.
- 5:26Speaker 12: Maybe.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Deb said yes.
- 5:27Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Maybe. Deb said yes. She said yes. We're surprised Jim's
- 5:31Speaker 2: even going to be there. So it's $ 5 a ball.
- 5:32Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Or if you spend $ 20, they'll throw in an extra ball.
- 5:37Speaker 6: They'll throw in a tip.
- 5:38Speaker 13: Right.
- 5:38Speaker 3: If there was ever a time to hire someone that
- 5:41Speaker 3: kind of looks like you as a joke.
- 5:44Speaker 2: This is the time?
- 5:44Speaker 3: That would make me laugh. Dude, I get good water, though.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I heard when Ryan Holmes did this, they filled it
- 5:49Speaker 3: up with fire department water, and it was sketchy.
- 5:52Speaker 6: Well, I mean, fire hydrants are meant to put out fires.
- 5:55Speaker 6: You're not meant to drink from them.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I get clean water. I love it.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yeah, so I guess they call that gray water.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Don't say that. You don't want gray water. I do.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Gray water is like what you put your dishes in
- 6:05Speaker 2: and take showers in.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Well, that's what Ryan was swimming in.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It's not black water.
- 6:09Speaker 6: It's not black water. It was just gray water. But
- 6:12Speaker 6: he wasn't happy with it. So because you're a complainer
- 6:15Speaker 6: and a whiner, we're going to.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I want to see the bottom.
- 6:18Speaker 6: Tomorrow morning, it's going to be there at 1030 and
- 6:20Speaker 6: we'll start filling it up right then.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Just because Ryan still has some sores from that night.
- 6:27Speaker 3: One pimple that won't go away. Yeah, we'll be doing that.
- 6:31Speaker 3: We have the big screen up for the football game.
- 6:33Speaker 3: We have the foaming mug for the kids.
- 6:36Speaker 6: Yep, we're going to have cornhole.
- 6:37Speaker 2: I just can't wait, man. It's going to be so
- 6:38Speaker 2: much fun.
- 6:39Speaker 6: So how was your anniversary dinner last night? Oh, anniversary
- 6:42Speaker 6: was great last night, man.
- 6:43Speaker 2: We went, you know, yeah. 21 or 24 years?
- 6:44Speaker 3: 21 years.
- 6:45Speaker 12: 21.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Together, 23.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:46Speaker 8: Together.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Together 22. What's the gift you give your wife for that?
- 7:06Speaker 3: Did you write her a song?
- 7:08Speaker 13: No, no, no.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Is that what I'm supposed to do? Yeah. I think
- 7:11Speaker 2: it is. Is it really the gift of words? Is
- 7:13Speaker 2: that what it is? Didn't you promise her a song
- 7:16Speaker 2: like forever ago? How do you remember that, dude? Yeah.
- 7:19Speaker 2: It's you and her. Because we're here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 2: But that was literally 10 years ago, eight years ago, whatever.
- 7:26Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 3: No, I never wrote her a song, and to be
- 7:29Speaker 3: honest with you, she got me a bag of sugar-free candy,
- 7:32Speaker 3: and I got her a card.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Oh.
- 7:35Speaker 2: But that's what we kind of agreed to, dude. A
- 7:38Speaker 2: bag of sugar-free candy? Yeah, but I mean, there's nothing
- 7:41Speaker 2: wrong with that. We got your back. That's heartbreaking. What
- 7:44Speaker 2: do you mean you got my back? We got together.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Who's we?
- 7:47Speaker 12: Me?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Uh-huh. Yeah, Ross was there.
- 7:52Speaker 6: You can throw me in there, too.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I asked that to see who's going to be responsible.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Me and Andy.
- 7:58Speaker 14: I know.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Can you imagine?
- 8:00Speaker 3: Chat GPT with a quick search. Give me 10 weird
- 8:04Speaker 3: facts about Jim Colbert.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Okay. And then we, you know, kind of produce a song.
- 8:09Speaker 13: 21 years ago, you made a choice that the rest
- 8:12Speaker 13: of us would call questionable.
- 8:15Speaker 2: You looked at Jim Colbert and said, that's the guy. Girl,
- 8:18Speaker 2: your judgment was questionable.
- 8:26Speaker 13: Woo!
- 8:26Speaker 14: Woo!
- 8:26Speaker 10: Woo!
- 8:47Speaker 2: Yeah, she tracks him.
- 9:05Speaker 13: We had that truck without a tailgate, which seemed like
- 9:09Speaker 13: a perfectly good plan. Until we lost half our stuff
- 9:13Speaker 13: on I-4.
- 9:14Speaker 2: It wasn't on I-4, you son of a.
- 9:16Speaker 13: Like a rational man.
- 9:18Speaker 2: We bought a house and said, this one's perfect. Then
- 9:22Speaker 2: immediately started tearing it apart. I said, this will only
- 9:26Speaker 2: take a weekend. That was 21 years ago, sweetheart.
- 9:35Speaker 15: Why?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Go, Ross. He's like, off. Woo!
- 9:38Speaker 10: Shit.
- 9:50Speaker 2: I have not even heard this part of the song yet.
- 9:53Speaker 8: Okay.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, she tracks them.
- 10:14Speaker 16: It's a GPS thing, dude.
- 10:15Speaker 13: Oh, my God, dude, this thing.
- 10:15Speaker 2: It's like Alice's restaurant.
- 10:16Speaker 12: Yep.
- 10:16Speaker 8: Yep.
- 10:41Speaker 2: But that's our life, and that's okay. We've got memories
- 10:46Speaker 2: by the score.
- 10:48Speaker 13: And if we ever run out of room, we'll just
- 10:52Speaker 13: buy another house next door.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Now, Tori, I know you're married.
- 10:57Speaker 13: To an old man when instead of buying you flowers,
- 11:01Speaker 13: I use a toilet brush to scratch my back.
- 11:04Speaker 2: That's right.
- 11:05Speaker 13: Some husbands whisper sweet things in their wife's ear. I
- 11:09Speaker 13: yell from the bathroom, Tori, where's the blue one? And
- 11:14Speaker 13: remember that station event that everybody said I had to attend? Well,
- 11:20Speaker 13: there was just one little problem.
- 11:24Speaker 2: We were on a cruise instead. Oh my God, dude.
- 11:27Speaker 2: I said, Jim, where the hell are you?
- 11:30Speaker 13: I said, well, technically international waters. You said, put the
- 11:34Speaker 13: phone down. We're having fun. And that's when I knew
- 11:37Speaker 13: I married correctly.
- 11:41Speaker 2: 21 years, baby, here we go. This is not going
- 11:45Speaker 2: to knock choosing Texas off the top. Hold on, dude.
- 11:49Speaker 2: It's just five more minutes. This is the short version.
- 11:52Speaker 6: Oh, my God, dude.
- 11:53Speaker 14: Wow.
- 11:53Speaker 2: So I just kind of.
- 12:01Speaker 3: Through all every fact I knew about Jimmy and it
- 12:04Speaker 3: just makes it up.
- 12:05Speaker 6: And there you go.
- 12:06Speaker 2: We made the song and I didn't even get to
- 12:08Speaker 2: listen to it. So funny.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Someone consumed all my pre-show time.
- 12:13Speaker 2: All right.
- 12:14Speaker 15: 407-916-1041.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Text us at 77031. Was that you? Yeah, a little bit.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Happy anniversary. Happy anniversary. Thank you so much. I appreciate it.
- 12:22Speaker 3: By the way, Chef's Table on Edgewater in Winter Garden
- 12:24Speaker 3: was absolutely fantastic last night. If you want a great
- 12:27Speaker 3: place to go for an anniversary, it was wonderful. They
- 12:29Speaker 3: killed it, and they're doing one of the best magical
- 12:31Speaker 3: dining menus I've seen. So go check them out.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Just don't get that bag of sugar-free.
- 12:36Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 9: Okay.
- 12:37Speaker 2: It's just so sober. You got like strawberries.
- 12:39Speaker 10: No, no, no.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's chocolate. It's like sugar-free chocolate. It's Russell Stover. It's
- 12:44Speaker 2: good stuff. Did you try it?
- 12:46Speaker 5: No. No.
- 12:47Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 12:48Speaker 3: It's like chocolate in a balloon.
- 12:54Speaker 6: Yeah, we're going to talk about tropical storms, Gonzalo and
- 12:59Speaker 6: Faye churning out in the Atlantic. Closer to home, Seminole
- 13:02Speaker 6: County ramping up mosquito control amid that dengue fever concerns
- 13:06Speaker 6: and celebrating Dolly Parton on 9 to 5.
- 13:10Speaker 7: Get it?
- 13:10Speaker 2: 9 to 5.
- 13:11Speaker 6: What a way to make a living. It's 925 today.
- 13:17Speaker 8: Oh, cool.
- 13:17Speaker 6: So 925. So we're going to talk about that and
- 13:20Speaker 6: more coming up next during JCS News.
- 13:22Speaker 3: All right, let's take a little break. We'll come back
- 13:23Speaker 3: and get Deb's news and continue on with the Jim
- 13:25Speaker 3: Colbert Show.
- 13:25Speaker 8: Hey, Jack and Real Radio. This is Space Coast Phil
- 13:37Speaker 8: on Instagram.
- 13:38Speaker 18: I just wanted to say thank you for those tickets
- 13:40Speaker 18: to the Buccaneers and Vikings game for this Sunday.
- 13:44Speaker 8: We can't wait to go, and I just picked up
- 13:46Speaker 8: my son from school, and he wanted to say this
- 13:48Speaker 8: to you guys as well.
- 13:49Speaker 19: Thank you, Jack and Real Radio, for the Vikings Bucks tickets.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Bucks tickets. There you go. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:57Speaker 9: There you go.
- 13:57Speaker 6: Thanks for stepping in.
- 13:58Speaker 2: There, dude. Pretty cool. 407-916. It is very cool. Good job, buddy. 407-916-1041.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Text us.
- 14:04Speaker 15: 77031.
- 14:04Speaker 2: I'm Jim. There's Deb. Hello.
- 14:07Speaker 5: Jack.
- 14:07Speaker 20: Yep.
- 14:08Speaker 2: And Ross here as well. It's all true. Let's do
- 14:10Speaker 2: some news.
- 14:12Speaker 1: It's time for JCS News.
- 14:15Speaker 8: Wow. Has this guy got to put his name on everything?
- 14:18Speaker 2: It's in my contract, dude.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Here's the news on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 14:22Speaker 6: And JCS News is brought to you by that mortgage guy, Don.
- 14:26Speaker 6: Give him a listen tomorrow morning when he's host of
- 14:28Speaker 6: the Home Loans Radio Show. All right, Tropical Storm Gonzalo
- 14:32Speaker 6: has formed off the Cabo Verde Islands and is bringing
- 14:34Speaker 6: some gusty winds and rain to their airport.
- 14:38Speaker 7: No concerns for the United States with Gonzalo. It's going
- 14:41Speaker 7: to continue moving generally north-northwestward and just gradually weaken and
- 14:47Speaker 7: come apart over the weekend.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Sounds kind of tired, doesn't he?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. He sounds exhausted.
- 14:51Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 6: National Hurricane Center Senior Hurricane Specialist Brad Reinhart said Fay,
- 14:56Speaker 6: which is in the middle of the Atlantic... with maximum
- 14:59Speaker 6: sustained winds of 60 miles per hour, also won't be
- 15:02Speaker 6: a threat to the U.S. With neither expected to grow
- 15:05Speaker 6: into a hurricane, the record for the latest forming first
- 15:08Speaker 6: hurricane of the season will continue to stretch even longer,
- 15:11Speaker 6: breaking that record set back in 1914. Wow. Now, even
- 15:15Speaker 6: though it may not be coming here to the continental U.S.,
- 15:18Speaker 6: we do have that powerful nor'easter brewing up the east
- 15:21Speaker 6: coast and bringing a lot of squirrely weather to the northeast.
- 15:25Speaker 6: But It's also affecting us here. Strong winds and rough
- 15:28Speaker 6: surf are creating hazardous conditions across northeast Florida. Through the weekend,
- 15:32Speaker 6: the National Weather Service says northeast winds of 20 to
- 15:35Speaker 6: 25 miles per hour with gusts up to 35 are
- 15:39Speaker 6: helping push water toward the coast and up the St.
- 15:41Speaker 6: Johns River. We had A1A closed outside of Playa Linda
- 15:45Speaker 6: Beach because of the sand and water that had been
- 15:47Speaker 6: pushed onto the roadway. A high risk of rip currents
- 15:50Speaker 6: remains in effect through Saturday night while waves of 6
- 15:52Speaker 6: to 9 feet are expected at Jacksonville-area beaches.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Duval. Duval.
- 15:59Speaker 6: Minor coastal flooding is possible around high tide along the
- 16:02Speaker 6: coast and the St. Johns River basin with elevated water
- 16:05Speaker 6: levels potentially lingering into next week. And anyone who lives
- 16:10Speaker 6: along the St. Johns is like, no! All right, well,
- 16:13Speaker 6: we've talked about what likes a lot of water, and
- 16:16Speaker 6: that would be mosquitoes. And concerns over dengue fever are
- 16:19Speaker 6: now causing Seminole County workers to increase mosquito control measures
- 16:23Speaker 6: across that region. The Florida Department of Health has issued
- 16:27Speaker 6: a mosquito-borne illness alert for several counties. In response, mosquito
- 16:31Speaker 6: control officials are conducting enhanced surveillance and targeted control measures
- 16:35Speaker 6: to reduce the chances of spreading the illness, also known
- 16:38Speaker 6: as breakbone fever. No confirmed cases of dengue fever have
- 16:42Speaker 6: been reported in Seminole County, but at least three cases
- 16:45Speaker 6: have been announced in neighboring Orange County. This comes as
- 16:49Speaker 6: three Tampa Bay area counties have declared seven-day states of
- 16:52Speaker 6: emergency as dengue fever cases continue to rise across the region. Hillsborough, Pinellas,
- 16:57Speaker 6: and Pasco. Hillsborough remains the center of the outbreak. They
- 17:01Speaker 6: reported 36 new cases just this week.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Damn!
- 17:06Speaker 6: And on Thursday, Polk County reported its first case.
- 17:10Speaker 13: Wow.
- 17:10Speaker 6: Speaking of Seminole County, we'll just shoot it. All right.
- 17:15Speaker 6: This is something we touched on a little bit before
- 17:18Speaker 6: we went to break and did the news. But Seminole
- 17:19Speaker 6: County leaders, among others, are warning that Amendment 3 could
- 17:23Speaker 6: lead to cuts in local services. County leaders say the
- 17:26Speaker 6: measure could reduce property tax revenue by about 20 percent,
- 17:30Speaker 6: stressing budgets rather for multiple programs, including emergency management and
- 17:36Speaker 6: animal services. Seminole County's Director of Emergency Management, one Alan Harris,
- 17:40Speaker 6: whom we have interviewed many times. I swear that man
- 17:43Speaker 6: never gets a day off.
- 17:44Speaker 2: We can say he's a friend of the show, right?
- 17:46Speaker 2: He is, absolutely.
- 17:47Speaker 6: And he's not only the guy that's the Emergency Management Director,
- 17:50Speaker 6: he's also the Director of Animal Services. So he's very,
- 17:53Speaker 6: very busy. And he says stricter budgets could mean fewer
- 17:56Speaker 6: services and staff, which, again, could affect the shelter's ability
- 18:00Speaker 6: to to maintain no-kill operations. He said cuts of roughly
- 18:04Speaker 6: $ 200, 000 would eliminate money for basic needs like food and
- 18:08Speaker 6: veterinary services. and overall revenue loss could force more cuts
- 18:13Speaker 6: in staff. County leaders say the funding impact will depend
- 18:17Speaker 6: on what voters decide at the polls on November 3rd.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Really, really good piece.
- 18:22Speaker 3: We get questions about this all the time on the
- 18:23Speaker 3: texting service, asking us to try to explain what's going
- 18:26Speaker 3: to happen. We've done our best. We've had a couple
- 18:28Speaker 3: mayors in, and we've done that for sure. If you're
- 18:30Speaker 3: on Facebook, you can find plenty of stuff from cities
- 18:33Speaker 3: and municipalities that they put up as well. But there
- 18:35Speaker 3: is a piece in the newspaper yesterday that if you
- 18:39Speaker 3: have the Sentinel or you have access to it, you
- 18:41Speaker 3: should go read it.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It is really good.
- 18:43Speaker 3: It basically says it's going to be a disaster for
- 18:46Speaker 3: small communities and it lays it out really, really well.
- 18:49Speaker 3: So if you want something to read. Go to Yesterday
- 18:51Speaker 3: Sentinel and find that piece.
- 18:52Speaker 6: And if you're a renter or you're a small business owner,
- 18:55Speaker 6: I mean, you're going to be getting it in the shorts.
- 18:58Speaker 3: This is going to be a FAFO situation for a
- 19:00Speaker 3: lot of people because they just don't think that you
- 19:04Speaker 3: get to read about this thing a lot. You really
- 19:06Speaker 3: got to pay attention to what's going on with this.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Just make sure everybody's informed.
- 19:11Speaker 9: That's it.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I've never heard FAFO. I mean, I understand what it means.
- 19:14Speaker 3: I've only heard it spelled out before. I've never heard
- 19:16Speaker 3: the acronym as a word.
- 19:17Speaker 2: That's what's up. Yeah, thank you. Except for the whole
- 19:20Speaker 2: reason why. That's not what's up.
- 19:23Speaker 6: An update from a story we covered yesterday. Brightline says
- 19:26Speaker 6: its Miami to Orlando passenger rail service will continue uninterrupted
- 19:32Speaker 6: despite a financial restructuring that includes Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings
- 19:36Speaker 6: by certain parent companies. Brightline says existing stakeholders have agreed
- 19:40Speaker 6: to provide $ 490 million in new financing to strengthen its finances.
- 19:46Speaker 6: Brightline officials say operations, tickets, and plans for future expansion,
- 19:50Speaker 6: including a proposed extension from Orlando to Tampa, are not affected.
- 19:56Speaker 15: Oh, really?
- 19:56Speaker 6: They're moving forward.
- 19:57Speaker 2: Good.
- 19:58Speaker 6: The company also reports ridership is up 14% this year,
- 20:02Speaker 6: while revenue has increased 17% compared with the same period
- 20:06Speaker 6: in 2025. All right, President Trump is pushing a ban
- 20:10Speaker 6: on diesel exports as gas prices spike, hitting a high
- 20:14Speaker 6: of $ 4. 49 this week in Florida.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And then mostly that would hit Florida because the very
- 20:20Speaker 1: refineries in the Gulf Coast that make an excess of
- 20:22Speaker 1: diesel are the very refineries that supply Florida.
- 20:25Speaker 6: So gas buddies Patrick DeHaan says the ban would cause
- 20:28Speaker 6: refineries to slow down production because the majority of what
- 20:31Speaker 6: comes out of a barrel of oil is gasoline. And
- 20:34Speaker 6: that could jack up prices even further. The national average
- 20:37Speaker 6: price for diesel... rose to a record $ 6. 52 per gallon Wednesday.
- 20:45Speaker 6: It was just $ 3. 69 a year ago. Yeah, and I
- 20:50Speaker 6: guess October 1st, we have had listeners confirm at 77031,
- 20:55Speaker 6: I guess independent truckers are planning to go on strike
- 20:58Speaker 6: starting October 1st, I believe, until the 4th or 5th
- 21:01Speaker 6: as a way to protest until prices come down. And
- 21:05Speaker 6: of course, farmers are also saying like.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's driving up their costs by double, almost double. Everything.
- 21:12Speaker 6: All right. Meanwhile, federal prosecutors are bringing wire fraud and
- 21:16Speaker 6: money laundering charges against a Nevada businessman.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Really?
- 21:19Speaker 6: They say 46-year-old Christopher Lunsford of Henderson ran a very
- 21:24Speaker 6: interesting Ponzi scheme with a few hundred victims.
- 21:27Speaker 15: U.S.
- 21:27Speaker 6: Attorney Greg Kehoe says some of them met Lunsford at
- 21:32Speaker 6: Florida bars.
- 21:34Speaker 3: We have 500 victims now, but we suspect that number
- 21:37Speaker 3: will breach approximately 600 and maybe more.
- 21:40Speaker 6: So Kehoe says Lunsford told victims they could purchase a
- 21:43Speaker 6: semi-truck lease worth between $ 25, 000 and $ 40, 000 and expect guaranteed
- 21:49Speaker 6: payments of $ 1, 000 or more a week. Prosecutors say Lunsford
- 21:54Speaker 6: took in at least $ 105 million, but only a couple
- 21:57Speaker 6: million went to the business itself.
- 21:59Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:01Speaker 6: A lawyer is using evidence from an Orlando company to
- 22:05Speaker 6: raise questions about a teenager's death. Civil rights attorney Ben
- 22:09Speaker 6: Crump held a press conference in Orlando yesterday to discuss
- 22:12Speaker 6: the death of 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells. He died two
- 22:16Speaker 6: months ago in Mississippi of an apparent drowning. But Crump
- 22:20Speaker 6: says data from Wells' phone contradicts what investigators say happened
- 22:24Speaker 6: that night. It turns out an Orlando company called Garrett
- 22:27Speaker 6: Discovery retrieved the data from Wells' phone and Crump says
- 22:31Speaker 6: the company found data was deleted.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:33Speaker 6: From the phone after it was last in Wells' possession.
- 22:37Speaker 6: Crump says that could only have been done if someone
- 22:40Speaker 6: took user action to delete that data.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I've, yeah, yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 6: He says he's going to release more information next week
- 22:47Speaker 6: at a press conference in Atlanta and won't quit. until
- 22:50Speaker 6: he gets to the truth.
- 22:51Speaker 3: You know, I didn't pay much attention to this case
- 22:52Speaker 3: at first because from the onset, it looked like the
- 22:55Speaker 3: kid just drowned, just got real drunk and drowned. But
- 22:58Speaker 3: I read something today, and again, I don't know how
- 22:59Speaker 3: accurate this is because it was just glancingly read that
- 23:03Speaker 3: he didn't have water in his stomach or lungs.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Can't drown without that. And then this.
- 23:08Speaker 3: Comes out where they break this phone down and find
- 23:10Speaker 3: out that a lot of stuff was deleted around that
- 23:13Speaker 3: same time. So Now there's a bunch of question marks
- 23:15Speaker 3: around this thing, and people are going crazy over it.
- 23:17Speaker 6: Well, yeah, because now his manner of death has been
- 23:20Speaker 6: called undetermined.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Right, yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 6: Apparently there was also blunt force trauma to his head,
- 23:24Speaker 6: and there were also abrasions and stuff on his back.
- 23:26Speaker 6: So still more questions than answers.
- 23:29Speaker 2: So his phone was unlocked, right? No, no, no. They
- 23:33Speaker 2: just got into it. Oh, okay, okay.
- 23:34Speaker 8: Never mind.
- 23:35Speaker 6: Yeah. But, I mean, it's interesting. I don't even know, like,
- 23:38Speaker 6: what data they said was deleted. Did you hear that part?
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean. Messages. It was messages.
- 23:44Speaker 3: So, throwing this out here is, like, you need to
- 23:47Speaker 3: unlock a phone to delete stuff.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Right, right. And how do you unlock cell phones right now?
- 23:53Speaker 6: With your face.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 6: Oh, that, I've seen that many a time.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Right?
- 23:58Speaker 6: Your eyes don't have to be open.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I don't know that. What was it? They said it
- 24:04Speaker 2: was dead or something like that? They tried to do
- 24:05Speaker 2: it with a dead person and it knew?
- 24:08Speaker 10: Right.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Because the face with no muscular support? didn't look the
- 24:13Speaker 3: same as it did when you were alive? I don't
- 24:16Speaker 3: remember if that was real life or.
- 24:19Speaker 2: That was a movie. Yeah, it probably was a movie.
- 24:22Speaker 6: How do we know?
- 24:23Speaker 2: This was kind of crazy.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Idris Elba at a wax museum, seeing himself, pulls out
- 24:28Speaker 3: the phone.
- 24:29Speaker 2: And asks the big question, oh, will it work? And
- 24:32Speaker 2: it did. It opened it up? It opened up his phone.
- 24:36Speaker 17: Whoa!
- 24:36Speaker 6: Wasn't there, I mean, it was a joke, but wasn't
- 24:38Speaker 6: there someone that was able to use the old guy
- 24:40Speaker 6: off the Pringles can to open up their phone?
- 24:42Speaker 2: No, that felt like a shot at me.
- 24:45Speaker 15: No.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Let's move forward.
- 24:47Speaker 6: All right, another follow-up to a story from yesterday. An
- 24:51Speaker 6: attorney for Buccaneer legend and Pro Bowl Hall of Famer
- 24:55Speaker 6: Warren Sapp is speaking out after Sapp filed a federal
- 24:58Speaker 6: lawsuit against the city of Tampa this week over his
- 25:00Speaker 6: removal from City Hall during a city council meeting.
- 25:03Speaker 15: Former.
- 25:03Speaker 6: Former. State Representative Anthony Sabatini says his client claimed city
- 25:09Speaker 6: officials violated his First Amendment rights when police were called
- 25:13Speaker 6: and he was ordered to leave the building on September
- 25:16Speaker 6: 17th and he won't stand for it.
- 25:18Speaker 3: Government shouldn't get away with bullying members of the public,
- 25:22Speaker 3: whether it be Warren Sapp or anybody else. I would
- 25:26Speaker 3: just implore everybody to go watch the video that was
- 25:29Speaker 3: taken in that police department that day and you tell
- 25:31Speaker 3: me whether or not Warren Sapp is a D-bag or not.
- 25:34Speaker 2: There's video of it.
- 25:35Speaker 3: There's video of him interacting with these cops, and he's
- 25:37Speaker 3: just being the most disrespectful douche you could ever imagine.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Every encounter I've ever had with that guy, every encounter
- 25:44Speaker 3: I know of people who have had encounters with this guy,
- 25:47Speaker 3: he's just not a pleasant or happy person.
- 25:50Speaker 6: Well, Sapp says he was at City Hall that day
- 25:53Speaker 6: to obtain paperwork, and while he was trespassed for the day, again,
- 25:56Speaker 6: he wasn't arrested. Tampa officials haven't commented on the allegations yet.
- 26:00Speaker 6: citing pending litigation.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Yeah they were very patient i just just go find
- 26:05Speaker 3: the video and watch it you'll see i think the
- 26:07Speaker 3: cops were very patient he went from dt to db douchebag.
- 26:13Speaker 6: Good one ross good one nice all right an effort
- 26:16Speaker 6: to preserve wilson island made progress after groveland residents and
- 26:20Speaker 6: city leaders urged lake county advisors to consider buying the
- 26:23Speaker 6: wildlife area The public asked the Lake County Public Lands
- 26:27Speaker 6: and Trail Advisory Committee to use some of the $ 50
- 26:29Speaker 6: million voters approved in 2024 for conservation land purchases. You know,
- 26:34Speaker 6: so that DOT can come back later and say, hey,
- 26:37Speaker 6: we really need this land, but we're going to conserve
- 26:39Speaker 6: some for you later.
- 26:40Speaker 2: It doesn't matter because we know they'll just bulldoze it
- 26:43Speaker 2: if they want to.
- 26:43Speaker 6: They don't care. The land sits along the.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Yes. We never see you struggle.
- 26:51Speaker 6: And I've been practicing this one for so long. The Palatka...
- 26:55Speaker 6: The Palatlakaha River.
- 26:57Speaker 2: That's it. The Palatkalaha.
- 26:58Speaker 17: What?
- 26:59Speaker 2: Say it again? The Palatkalaha.
- 27:01Speaker 6: The Palatkalaha.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah, something like that. Oh, okay.
- 27:04Speaker 3: When have I ever looked at Jimmy for confirmation?
- 27:07Speaker 2: We're in a bizarro world right now. Yes, we are.
- 27:11Speaker 3: But I just confirmed it by saying something like that.
- 27:14Speaker 2: Palatka Laha. Palatka Laha. Yeah, I think that's exactly what
- 27:18Speaker 2: it is, yeah.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Yeah, because it's confusing because it looks like it would
- 27:20Speaker 6: just be Palatka, but there's like, yeah, okay, so the
- 27:23Speaker 6: Palatka Laha. It's considered by many residents to be one
- 27:26Speaker 6: of Groveland's last natural gems.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Really?
- 27:30Speaker 6: So Wilson Island is already approved for 181 single-family homes,
- 27:36Speaker 6: along with 85,000 square feet of commercial and mixed-use development.
- 27:41Speaker 6: Residents who spoke at the meeting said they worry the
- 27:43Speaker 6: project will permanently change the character of the land.
- 27:48Speaker 3: This just in, we have a source in the funeral
- 27:50Speaker 3: director business. They say 40% of the time success rate
- 27:55Speaker 3: with using facial recognition on the deceased.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Really?
- 27:59Speaker 12: 40%?
- 27:59Speaker 15: 40%.
- 27:59Speaker 16: Wow.
- 27:59Speaker 5: Wow.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So it is real.
- 28:01Speaker 20: It is real.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Also, I'll get way more questions than answers after hearing that.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Jack, I got to tell you, choke Ross out and
- 28:11Speaker 3: let's see if this works. No.
- 28:15Speaker 2: Because like 40%, what are the factors that inflate the 60%
- 28:20Speaker 2: of it not working? Yeah, I don't know. Maybe if
- 28:22Speaker 2: you have a fat face and then when you, I mean,
- 28:25Speaker 2: I'm kind of being serious. Yeah, that's why I'm asking.
- 28:27Speaker 2: The changes.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Yeah, the thing of death not really affecting your face
- 28:30Speaker 3: much because you, maybe, I don't know, maybe because of
- 28:32Speaker 3: the construction of your face.
- 28:34Speaker 2: I cheekbone, I don't know. I would be in the 40%. Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 2: It already thinks you're dead. Yeah, the six out of 10,
- 28:40Speaker 2: they were all closed casket.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 6: All right, six people were sent to hospitals, multiple, and
- 28:46Speaker 6: eight others suffered exposure to an unknown drug at a
- 28:49Speaker 6: Pinellas County apartment. Police responded yesterday evening to complaints about
- 28:53Speaker 6: a naked man smoking marijuana and acting erratically. I was
- 28:58Speaker 6: not acting erratically. Then arrested 30-year-old Richard Charles.
- 29:04Speaker 21: One of the officers felt the effects of a narcotic,
- 29:09Speaker 21: passed out. causing other officers to use Narcan to resuscitate him.
- 29:15Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 6: Largo Police Chief Marka Mike Locks says some officers and
- 29:20Speaker 6: paramedics were hospitalized while others had to be decontaminated. And
- 29:25Speaker 6: they still don't even know what substance they came into
- 29:28Speaker 6: contact with.
- 29:29Speaker 2: But the dude just rolled on through? He was fine? Apparently.
- 29:32Speaker 6: He was just naked smoking a J and acting erratically.
- 29:36Speaker 6: But as soon as they went into this house, this
- 29:38Speaker 6: was a welfare check that was called.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Oh wow yeah oh yeah the house could have been
- 29:42Speaker 2: anything it could have been anything i'm gonna i'm gonna
- 29:44Speaker 2: jump exactly i'm going to defend that joint the one
- 29:48Speaker 2: that he was smoking that was probably just weed and
- 29:50Speaker 2: that doesn't.
- 29:51Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 29:52Speaker 6: If it was just weed, that's not it.
- 29:53Speaker 9: Yeah, absolutely.
- 29:54Speaker 3: If you smoke a joint, the last thing I want
- 29:55Speaker 3: to do is really get naked in front of random people.
- 29:58Speaker 6: Same here.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Oh, don't look at me. No.
- 30:01Speaker 6: That's my line.
- 30:02Speaker 2: It's the weed. It's weed and cold water. Everybody knows.
- 30:06Speaker 6: And again, investigators are looking into whether the apartment was
- 30:09Speaker 6: hosting a drug lab.
- 30:11Speaker 2: There you go.
- 30:12Speaker 6: And then finally... Do you guys like that movie?
- 30:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny, man.
- 30:20Speaker 6: I love that movie.
- 30:21Speaker 2: That was fantastic.
- 30:22Speaker 6: I think it's one of– that and Steel Magnolias.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Never saw that one. Oh, my God, yeah.
- 30:27Speaker 14: No.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No interest. Yeah, but emotion-wise, it's a toughie.
- 30:31Speaker 6: Oh, Sally Field, Sally McClain.
- 30:34Speaker 2: It's a toughie. No interest. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not
- 30:36Speaker 2: even quite sure if I knew it was a movie. What,
- 30:38Speaker 2: Steel Magnolias? No, 9 to 5.
- 30:40Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 30:41Speaker 2: It's hilarious.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I only like the songs. Dabney Coleman is one of
- 30:45Speaker 3: the best movie villains from the early 80s, right?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 3: And that was just, I mean, after she passed, it
- 30:51Speaker 3: was on television. I ended up watching it then with commercials.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Still holds up. Without a doubt.
- 30:58Speaker 6: AMC Theaters actually brought it back to the big screen
- 31:01Speaker 6: after her death as well. A few of her favorite
- 31:03Speaker 6: movies except Steel Magnolia is that one they weren't able
- 31:06Speaker 6: to show. But yeah, we're remembering the late Dolly Parton today.
- 31:09Speaker 6: Not only is it Dolly Day in Nashville, many cities
- 31:11Speaker 6: across the country are celebrating the queen of country music.
- 31:15Speaker 6: California has declared today Dolly Parton Day. 9 to 5,
- 31:19Speaker 6: of course, chosen for Parton's classic hit, 9 to 5. Meanwhile,
- 31:22Speaker 6: in New York City, Manhattan Borough President Brad Holliman-Siggles has
- 31:26Speaker 6: proclaimed today Dolly Parton Appreciation Day in honor of the
- 31:30Speaker 6: late music star's contributions to humanity. If only she could
- 31:34Speaker 6: have done something about that nephew. And that concludes your
- 31:38Speaker 6: JCS News.

- 32:40Speaker 2: Yay!
- 32:45Speaker 15: What a welcome. What a welcome.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Yeah, gutsy. How you doing, buddy? How's things? Good, and you? Yeah, good, man.
- 32:51Speaker 2: How's the weather up there in Toronto? Very nice. Very nice?
- 32:55Speaker 6: Very nice.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Late summer, you know, it's got that late summer, early
- 32:58Speaker 2: fall kind of thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 15: I don't know, like. 70 or something like that.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Really? Yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 3: I remember when we went up to Maine for our
- 33:05Speaker 3: anniversary years ago, we were up there this time of year, um,
- 33:08Speaker 3: probably about three or four or five years ago or whatever. Um,
- 33:11Speaker 3: and we, we were surprised as we flew in during
- 33:13Speaker 3: the day and it was relatively mild, you know, in the, uh,
- 33:15Speaker 3: in the low to mid seventies. But what they didn't
- 33:17Speaker 3: say is, uh, in the evenings up there, it, uh,
- 33:20Speaker 3: it drops precipitously. It, uh, it comes down pretty quick
- 33:23Speaker 3: into the high forties. We did not expect that. We
- 33:25Speaker 3: walked out to go sit around the fire thinking it
- 33:27Speaker 3: was going to be maybe a long-sleeved shirt scenario, and
- 33:29Speaker 3: it was not. It was a much more considerable clothing scenario.
- 33:35Speaker 15: You are such a sissy.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I am. My little baby. Florida blood. Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 3: Fias joins us every single Friday to talk about the
- 33:42Speaker 3: culinary scene here in Central Florida. He is the food critic,
- 33:46Speaker 3: or the restaurant critic, I should say, for the Orlando Weekly, OrlandoWeekly.com.
- 33:49Speaker 2: What do you have for us?
- 33:50Speaker 6: This is more about food.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's right, 100%. What do you have first
- 33:53Speaker 2: this week, Big Dawg? A review.
- 33:55Speaker 15: A review. It's going to be a review of Jang's Kitchen.
- 33:59Speaker 15: That's J-I-A-N-G apostrophe S kitchen. It's right in the heart
- 34:04Speaker 15: of downtown at 27 East Robinson Street. And they specialize
- 34:09Speaker 15: in all things dumpling.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Okay.
- 34:11Speaker 15: Specifically, specifically soup dumplings.
- 34:13Speaker 14: Okay.
- 34:14Speaker 15: You know, like dumplings are a comfort staple all over
- 34:16Speaker 15: the world. You know, be they, I don't know, ravioli
- 34:20Speaker 15: or pierogies or samosas or empanadas or momo or mantu.
- 34:24Speaker 15: You know, like it seems like every culture has a
- 34:27Speaker 15: little doughy pocket filled with stuff that, They just love.
- 34:31Speaker 6: I'm right here.
- 34:32Speaker 3: It just blew my mind calling ravioli and all of
- 34:36Speaker 3: these other international cuisines that are basically just dumplings.
- 34:40Speaker 2: It's a dumpling.
- 34:40Speaker 3: It's a dough filled with either savory or fruit or
- 34:43Speaker 3: whatever to make it delicious.
- 34:44Speaker 7: What?
- 34:46Speaker 2: Yep, that's all it is.
- 34:47Speaker 15: But the Chinese took it to another level by adding
- 34:51Speaker 15: broth into these little dumplings. And I'm telling you, nobody,
- 34:55Speaker 15: in my opinion, does it better than Jang's Kitchen in
- 34:58Speaker 15: this city. In the city, I mean Orlando.
- 35:00Speaker 14: Wow.
- 35:01Speaker 15: Not Toronto. Yeah, the skins, for one, the skins, as
- 35:05Speaker 15: I said in my review, the skins are as smooth
- 35:08Speaker 15: as a Buddhist monk's bald head, but considerably more delicious.
- 35:12Speaker 15: Just trust me on that. And the husband and wife team,
- 35:15Speaker 15: the wife's name is Mao Zhen Zhang, that's Z-H-A-N-G, and
- 35:21Speaker 15: the husband's name is Eric Zhang. And the two of them,
- 35:24Speaker 15: you know, the two of them are behind... And if
- 35:26Speaker 15: you're watching on YouTube right now, you'll see that these
- 35:29Speaker 15: two are behind a sort of glowing glass box. And
- 35:33Speaker 15: they're fashioning these beautiful dumplings. You know, they're rolling out
- 35:38Speaker 15: the dough. They're scooping in the fillings. They're, you know,
- 35:42Speaker 15: they're folding and pinching 18 to 20 creases into every
- 35:48Speaker 15: flawlessly created 31-gram chicken broth dumpling.
- 35:52Speaker 16: Wow.
- 35:52Speaker 13: It's really.
- 35:53Speaker 15: And if people out there have gone to Din Tai Fung,
- 35:56Speaker 15: Din Tai Fung is a global sort of globally lauded chain.
- 36:01Speaker 15: And they're all over the world. We don't have one
- 36:02Speaker 15: in Orlando, but they're often considered to be the acme
- 36:06Speaker 15: of soup dumplings. You know, theirs are very flawless. They've
- 36:10Speaker 15: got Michelin stars and all that sort of thing. And
- 36:12Speaker 15: I feel like Jane's Kitchen is the closest to what
- 36:15Speaker 15: we have to a Din Tai Fung restaurant. Again, if
- 36:18Speaker 15: you're watching on YouTube right now, Jack has some photos
- 36:21Speaker 15: up there from my Instagram page. And you'll feel free
- 36:23Speaker 15: to follow along at It's Faya's Cara. They have everything
- 36:27Speaker 15: from beef soup dumplings to crab meat and pork soup dumplings.
- 36:31Speaker 15: And what you have showing the viewers right now, Jack,
- 36:34Speaker 15: is the truffle and pork. soup dumplings, which I think
- 36:38Speaker 15: are their best dumplings there. But honestly, all the dumplings
- 36:42Speaker 15: they serve, be they soup dumplings or pan fried dumplings
- 36:46Speaker 15: or steamed dumplings are awesome. They have the crab meat.
- 36:50Speaker 15: This is a crab meat and pork dumpling that I'm
- 36:52Speaker 15: dipping in a little bit of vinegar and a little
- 36:55Speaker 15: bit of a little bit of chili oil before popping
- 36:57Speaker 15: it into my mouth. They also have a shrimp and
- 37:01Speaker 15: corn soup dumpling. And these ones actually have a little
- 37:05Speaker 15: niblet of corn on the very top of the crease.
- 37:07Speaker 15: And what that ends up doing is it ends up
- 37:09Speaker 15: sort of locking in the heat of the broth even
- 37:13Speaker 15: more so than the other dumplings. So it's pretty hot.
- 37:17Speaker 15: When my wife ate one, and again, I said this
- 37:19Speaker 15: in my review, after she ate one, she was looking
- 37:22Speaker 15: for the nearest ice cube to make out with because
- 37:26Speaker 15: it was.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Very, very hot. It wasn't spicy. It was just hot,
- 37:30Speaker 2: temperature hot.
- 37:31Speaker 15: So you've got to be a little careful when you
- 37:32Speaker 15: pinch and slurp that soup in there.
- 37:35Speaker 3: And then, Fias, that's what I was wanting for you
- 37:38Speaker 3: to really spoon feed, no pun intended for us, is
- 37:40Speaker 3: that the first time I had a soup dumpling, it
- 37:43Speaker 3: was insane.
- 37:45Speaker 2: Because you just don't expect... Jack, have you had one? No. Jim,
- 37:49Speaker 2: have you had one? Yeah, they were amazing. They are awesome,
- 37:52Speaker 2: but you are eating a bag of water. A bag
- 37:56Speaker 2: of soup.
- 37:57Speaker 3: You're eating a fleshy, encased little.
- 38:01Speaker 2: But it's a great bite. It's so good. It's such
- 38:03Speaker 2: a wonderful bite, though. It really is.
- 38:05Speaker 3: So I just want all of the listeners to really understand, like,
- 38:07Speaker 3: this is soup inside of a dumpling. And, yeah, they
- 38:11Speaker 3: can come out temperature-wise very hot.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Just let them sit for a minute. Chill out.
- 38:16Speaker 15: Just be very careful. Don't pop the whole thing into
- 38:18Speaker 15: your mouth and start chewing because you probably will.
- 38:22Speaker 3: How do you eat it if it's fluid? If you
- 38:24Speaker 3: bite into it, then it's just going to all pour out, right?
- 38:27Speaker 15: Well, the idea is if you hold it in that
- 38:29Speaker 15: spoon like in the one photo that you showed, you
- 38:31Speaker 15: just sort of like hold it with your chopsticks, hover
- 38:34Speaker 15: it over the spoon, bite a little pinch into it,
- 38:37Speaker 15: like just a little bite and slurp the soup.
- 38:40Speaker 16: Oh yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 15: And then eat the dump.
- 38:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 15: That's the best way to do it. So cut a
- 38:45Speaker 15: little hole in it with your teeth and then just
- 38:47Speaker 15: slurp away. You can add, you can dip it in
- 38:49Speaker 15: vinegar and in, in hot sauce and whatever you like.
- 38:52Speaker 15: And then just eat away. They even have, by the way, um, Ross,
- 38:55Speaker 15: they even have like these veg dumplings, which I thought
- 38:57Speaker 15: were amazing. I thought I actually thought of you and
- 38:59Speaker 15: your wife with these. They have, um, they got, I
- 39:02Speaker 15: believe they got carrots and bok choy. Um, there's two
- 39:06Speaker 15: other things. Cabbage. And I believe shiitake mushrooms.
- 39:10Speaker 11: Nice.
- 39:11Speaker 15: And it is absolutely amazing. They even have something called, Jim,
- 39:14Speaker 15: they got chicken and cheese dumplings. So we talked about
- 39:17Speaker 15: what chicken and cheese. That's a very odd combination. But
- 39:20Speaker 15: then that's the picture of it right there, Jack.
- 39:22Speaker 2: We got these.
- 39:23Speaker 15: Pan fried and they were absolutely amazing.
- 39:25Speaker 9: That's awesome.
- 39:25Speaker 15: Chicken and cheese dumplings.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Where is this?
- 39:30Speaker 15: It is 27 East Robinson Street, right in the heart
- 39:32Speaker 15: of downtown. Jane's Kitchen, J-I-A-N-G apostrophe S kitchen. Check them out.
- 39:38Speaker 15: They're opening up a couple of more locations. One in Millennia,
- 39:41Speaker 15: I believe, in a month or so. And then they're
- 39:43Speaker 15: also opening up one in Mills 50, right across from
- 39:46Speaker 15: Mills Market. Very nice. Yeah, and that'll specialize more on
- 39:50Speaker 15: Bang Bang Doodles.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Very cool. All right. Let's move on to Fresco Pizzeria.
- 39:55Speaker 15: Okay, Fresco Pizzeria. So they are a sister concept to
- 39:59Speaker 15: Fresco Cucina Italiana. I don't know if you've ever been
- 40:02Speaker 15: to Fresco. It's in Dr.
- 40:03Speaker 7: Phillips.
- 40:04Speaker 15: It's on Turkey Lake Road. It's sort of right next
- 40:06Speaker 15: to Kabuki Sushi there.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Gotcha.
- 40:08Speaker 15: And they've been there for a long time, Fresco Cucina Italiana.
- 40:12Speaker 15: So they've opened up the sister concept, Fresco Pizzeria. And
- 40:15Speaker 15: one of the owners there, Luigi Schialoa. Unlike the Dr.
- 40:19Speaker 15: Phillips location where they offer a Neapolitan-style pizza, it's wood-fired,
- 40:24Speaker 15: here he's doing a New York-style pizza. And evidently, he
- 40:27Speaker 15: took like five years to study the intricacies of making
- 40:31Speaker 15: a proper New York-style pizza. And he just opened this.
- 40:35Speaker 15: It's in Windermere. I believe it's at 527 Main Street
- 40:39Speaker 15: in downtown Windermere. And he is doing, evidently, from what
- 40:42Speaker 15: I've seen... A legit proper New York style pizza.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Yeah, that looks good.
- 40:47Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 15: If you're in that area, go and check him out because,
- 40:50Speaker 15: you know, he's like I said, I think now we're
- 40:52Speaker 15: starting to instead of just offering, you know, your plain
- 40:54Speaker 15: old slices. I think people are really delving into the
- 40:57Speaker 15: gourmet aspects of pizza, be it like Neapolitan or New York.
- 41:01Speaker 15: And this, I think, is a very studied case of
- 41:03Speaker 15: New York-style pizza.
- 41:04Speaker 3: And he's doing the– Jack, I know that you guys
- 41:06Speaker 3: do that, right, over in Jersey, where you hold the
- 41:09Speaker 3: piece and it's got to stay straight or whatever?
- 41:10Speaker 16: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:11Speaker 3: The end can dip a little bit, but isn't that
- 41:13Speaker 3: like the test? You know, you get the charring there,
- 41:16Speaker 3: the charring.
- 41:16Speaker 15: It's got to be– it has to be thin enough,
- 41:18Speaker 15: but sturdy enough, but it's also got to be foldable too.
- 41:21Speaker 11: Sure.
- 41:21Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 3: I like how it took him five years. Like he
- 41:24Speaker 3: went out to like a pizza Hogwarts or something.
- 41:28Speaker 2: He went on a walkabout.
- 41:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 41:29Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 41:30Speaker 3: He went, he went out into Memphis and found himself
- 41:33Speaker 3: pizza Hogwarts. I mean, I went on a Sherpa trip
- 41:37Speaker 3: to learn more about himself. I love that. He came
- 41:40Speaker 3: back with a better pizza.
- 41:41Speaker 2: I love it. I am ready.
- 41:42Speaker 3: All right, let's move on to rye row by old hearth.
- 41:46Speaker 15: Yeah, so Rye Road, they have finally soft opened right
- 41:49Speaker 15: there in Ivanhoe Village at 1231 North Orange Avenue. Yeah, Ross,
- 41:52Speaker 15: you got to add this to your pastry rounds. I'm
- 41:55Speaker 15: not sure if you went to Badass Sandwiches last weekend.
- 41:58Speaker 3: I'm bugging out. This is old hearth in a brick
- 42:01Speaker 3: and mortar. This is what I'm hearing, then this is
- 42:03Speaker 3: what I am loving.
- 42:06Speaker 2: This is what it is.
- 42:06Speaker 15: 1231 North Orange Avenue, right in the heart of Ivanhoe Village.
- 42:10Speaker 15: They're offering everything from their sourdough loaves to their Flaky
- 42:15Speaker 15: croissants to, I don't know, danishes and other pastries, cookies,
- 42:18Speaker 15: granola even. And so they're in soft open. They just
- 42:22Speaker 15: opened a couple of days ago. But, yeah, they are
- 42:24Speaker 15: now officially open. I think they are if you're on
- 42:26Speaker 15: their Instagram right now. I believe it's at Rye Row
- 42:30Speaker 15: by Old Hearth. I think they have their hours there,
- 42:34Speaker 15: their soft opening hours. I think they are open this weekend.
- 42:36Speaker 7: So, yeah.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Very cool.
- 42:38Speaker 15: Pastries are back. Ever since Backhouse Bakery closed, there really
- 42:41Speaker 15: hasn't been anything in Ivanhoe Village. I love Backhouse Pastries.
- 42:45Speaker 15: That German bakery that then they moved up to Mount
- 42:47Speaker 15: Dora and closed. But yeah, so Old Hearth is back.
- 42:50Speaker 15: They're in Ivanhoe Village. Go check them out.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and for people who don't know about Old Hearth
- 42:54Speaker 3: or haven't heard about Old Hearth, if you go to
- 42:56Speaker 3: any of the really restaurants of note in Central Florida,
- 42:59Speaker 3: a lot of the bread products that you'll get there
- 43:01Speaker 3: are provided by or sourced by.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Or Old Heart.
- 43:06Speaker 3: It's just been that way for a long time. So
- 43:07Speaker 3: if you ever get a really good piece of bread
- 43:09Speaker 3: in Orlando at a great restaurant, chances are it came
- 43:11Speaker 3: from Old Heart. I think they're the number one provider
- 43:13Speaker 3: of good bread for Central Florida. If they're not, they're
- 43:17Speaker 3: up there. And it's a local business pumping out some
- 43:20Speaker 3: of the best products. When they were at East End,
- 43:22Speaker 3: we were there twice a week getting bread and pastries.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Simply amazing stuff.
- 43:26Speaker 2: All right.
- 43:28Speaker 15: Let's move on to Flatlands Bar and Grill. Okay, so Flatlands,
- 43:32Speaker 15: this is by Nick Valenti. And Nick Valenti was the
- 43:35Speaker 15: longtime CEO of Patina Restaurant Group. And Patina had some
- 43:39Speaker 15: like major restaurants like Morimoto Asia and the Edison and
- 43:44Speaker 15: Marie and Enzo's, I don't know, Space 220, a bunch
- 43:47Speaker 15: of them, right? And so he's since left and he
- 43:50Speaker 15: has a gelato place. It's called Vivoli Il Gelato, which
- 43:53Speaker 15: he opened in the Flamingo Crossings sort of complex, kind
- 43:58Speaker 15: of near in O-Town West. Um, he then opened simply Capri,
- 44:02Speaker 15: which is an Italian restaurant a few years ago that
- 44:04Speaker 15: I reviewed somewhat favorably, I should say. Um, and now
- 44:08Speaker 15: he's opened up flat lands bar and grill, which is, uh, his,
- 44:12Speaker 15: I think, I believe he describes it something like American, um, uh,
- 44:15Speaker 15: you know, American fair, but with Florida roots.
- 44:19Speaker 2: Um, so the.
- 44:21Speaker 15: Reason it's called flat lands is because he's paying homage
- 44:24Speaker 15: to Florida and it's, uh, you know, flat lands. Um,
- 44:27Speaker 15: So when I took a look, I took a quick
- 44:29Speaker 15: look at the menu just to see how Florida it was. So,
- 44:31Speaker 15: of course, he has things like Maine lobster and oral
- 44:34Speaker 15: king salmon from New Zealand. But I think it is
- 44:37Speaker 15: supposed to be very citrus forward. I think they have
- 44:41Speaker 15: a lot of a lot of the produce he's sourcing
- 44:43Speaker 15: from local farmers. So it just opened just literally, again,
- 44:47Speaker 15: a couple of days ago. So they are in Flamingo
- 44:50Speaker 15: Crossings in Old Town West. I believe the address is
- 44:53Speaker 15: like one 24 Ruby red place.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 2: It's one 24 Ruby red and winter garden in winter garden.
- 45:01Speaker 15: Yeah. So it's kind of like, or, you know, if
- 45:02Speaker 15: you take the four 29 South, this is what that
- 45:04Speaker 15: intersection of old town West and winter garden.
- 45:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 45:07Speaker 2: We were just down there last night. We went to
- 45:09Speaker 2: a chef's table last night for anniversary dinner. It was great.
- 45:11Speaker 2: So yeah, I saw you went to a chef's table
- 45:14Speaker 2: in a, at the Edgewater hotel.
- 45:15Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 2: They destroyed it. It was so good. I mean, really amazing.
- 45:18Speaker 15: I think they, They have new owners like Kevin and
- 45:20Speaker 15: Lori Tarter. They recently sold it. So it's interesting to
- 45:24Speaker 15: hear that you really like it. So I guess the
- 45:26Speaker 15: new owners are doing a bang-up job.
- 45:29Speaker 3: They must be because I'm telling you, last night's experience
- 45:31Speaker 3: was really nice. So, I mean, I got nothing but
- 45:33Speaker 3: love for them.
- 45:35Speaker 15: Good to hear.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm looking at the Flatlands menu right now, and
- 45:38Speaker 3: it does. It looks like just kind of a modern
- 45:40Speaker 3: American thing with maybe a little bit of a Florida twist.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what they're trying to pull off here. Yeah,
- 45:45Speaker 2: very cool.
- 45:45Speaker 15: Yeah, and the whole exterior, the exterior of the restaurant,
- 45:48Speaker 15: they modeled it after like an old citrus packing facility.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, look at that.
- 45:52Speaker 15: The former Chef de Cuisine from Citricos at Disney. Citricos
- 45:56Speaker 15: is another one of these very, one of Disney's top restaurants.
- 45:59Speaker 15: The Chef de Cuisine from Citricos is now the chef here.
- 46:03Speaker 15: So I'm interested in checking it out because it's got
- 46:06Speaker 15: a similar vibe to the Grove in Winter Park. Similar
- 46:09Speaker 15: to what Mount Door 1921 and Mount Door is doing.
- 46:12Speaker 15: It's like American classic American fare, but with Florida influences
- 46:15Speaker 15: and twists. So I'm interested in checking it out.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Well, good job, buddy. If you want to see any
- 46:19Speaker 3: of that, I'm a devil. Have the podcast up here
- 46:21Speaker 3: in just a little bit. If you want to go

- 46:29Speaker 3: they want to find you online where they do that.
- 46:31Speaker 15: Just find me on Instagram at itsfayazkara, I-T-S-F-A-I-Y-A-Z-K-A-R-A.

- 47:49Speaker 9: It's going to be an epic weekend, so y'all have
- 47:51Speaker 9: a great weekend.
- 47:52Speaker 2: You as well, buddy. Throw your kangaroo.
- 47:56Speaker 10: I've seen the video you're talking about.
- 47:59Speaker 2: I don't think Sam did anything wrong.
- 48:02Speaker 20: He's just a high frequency kind of guy.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. I didn't say he did anything wrong. I
- 48:09Speaker 2: just said he was being a dick, which is accurate.
- 48:12Speaker 15: Well, How you doing?
- 48:14Speaker 12: Long time listener.
- 48:16Speaker 16: I just got gas at the racetrack in Daytona.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I got premium.
- 48:22Speaker 16: 29 gallons.
- 48:26Speaker 2: 150 bucks. It's a 5.16 a gallon.
- 48:30Speaker 1: Wow.
- 48:33Speaker 8: Hey, guys and gal.
- 48:35Speaker 15: This is Don.
- 48:36Speaker 9: I got a burger. Has some Worcestershire in it.
- 48:40Speaker 2: I like that. Some eggs.
- 48:41Speaker 13: All right.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Some flour. That's a meatloaf. And some special seasoning. And
- 48:48Speaker 2: some onion. What do you call it?
- 48:50Speaker 9: Most awesome burger you ever put in your mouth.
- 48:52Speaker 2: That's a long name. And that's really it. Very simple,
- 48:56Speaker 2: but awesome. There you go. All right.
- 49:01Speaker 8: 407-916-1041.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Text us.
- 49:01Speaker 14: 77031.
- 49:01Speaker 3: That's the latest entry in our burger contest for the
- 49:04Speaker 3: big contest coming up next week for the Best of Challenge.
- 49:06Speaker 3: You can cook for us and.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Win a weekend at the resort.
- 49:11Speaker 3: It's unbelievable. We've gone out there for family events and
- 49:14Speaker 3: family stays, and it's an absolute dime.
- 49:17Speaker 2: So much fun. Welcome back. I'm Jim. There's Deb. Hello.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Jack. Hi.
- 49:20Speaker 2: And Ross as well. It's true.
- 49:23Speaker 3: And, of course, tomorrow we'll be downtown Mount Dora for Suds, Pups,
- 49:26Speaker 3: and Pints, the fourth annual. Hope you're making plans to
- 49:29Speaker 3: join us. The weather's going to be as good as
- 49:30Speaker 3: it gets.
- 49:31Speaker 6: Can't get any better than what we've got in store.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Cannot, man.
- 49:34Speaker 3: So many good silent auction items. So much fun going on.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Football games. Flowing beer from Guinness. Thanks to Glenn Clausman.
- 49:41Speaker 3: All kinds of cool stuff happening. That's tomorrow at 3
- 49:44Speaker 3: o'clock downtown Mount Dora for Suds, Pups, and Pints.
- 49:48Speaker 6: Be there or be square.
- 49:49Speaker 2: All buttoned up. Everything's ready to go?
- 49:51Speaker 6: For the most part. It's like planning a wedding.
- 49:53Speaker 2: What time is everybody getting there?
- 49:55Speaker 6: Uh, define everybody.
- 49:56Speaker 2: I mean, like, uh, I've been, it starts at three, Jim. Yeah.
- 49:58Speaker 3: I'm getting there around one 30 to help set up my, uh,
- 50:01Speaker 3: help set up the stuff I'm bringing for the silent
- 50:03Speaker 3: auction and to lend a hand how I can.
- 50:05Speaker 6: Okay.
- 50:06Speaker 20: All right.
- 50:06Speaker 3: So I'll be down there relatively early. I'll be in
- 50:08Speaker 3: a bathing suit. You'll be able to see me pretty easily.
- 50:10Speaker 3: Relatively early.
- 50:11Speaker 6: You're cute. That's so sweet. We'll be there at 10 30.
- 50:15Speaker 6: If you really want to be there early.
- 50:17Speaker 2: I'll pass. I'll pass. Uh, two, two 30. That's what
- 50:23Speaker 2: I plan on being there. You're fine. I'm not sure
- 50:24Speaker 2: if that question also included me. No, it did.
- 50:27Speaker 6: Yeah, no, that's fine. 2-2-30, yeah.
- 50:30Speaker 3: So the data center thing is like a really big deal, right? Obviously,
- 50:35Speaker 3: the idea of data centers is going to affect elections
- 50:40Speaker 3: across our country.
- 50:41Speaker 6: Oh, it already has.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it's going to even more, right? I saw a
- 50:44Speaker 3: really interesting story today on one country. It's the UK
- 50:49Speaker 3: and what they're doing to at least learn how to
- 50:54Speaker 3: get something out of the data centers that they believe
- 50:57Speaker 3: can work. Because one of the things I'm reading, look,
- 50:59Speaker 3: I don't care how many protests there And how many
- 51:02Speaker 3: local governments put pauses on them?
- 51:04Speaker 2: That's exactly all it is. It's a pause. These things
- 51:06Speaker 2: are getting approved. They're getting built. They're coming. Money talks.
- 51:09Speaker 2: Money talks.
- 51:10Speaker 3: This is the newest wave of tech cash. There's no
- 51:13Speaker 3: way you're going to stand in the way of it.
- 51:15Speaker 3: No way these local governments are going to shout it down.
- 51:17Speaker 3: They may get moved around and shuffled a little bit,
- 51:20Speaker 3: maybe renamed, but guaranteed these data sitters are coming, right?
- 51:24Speaker 3: That's what powers AI, and that's where every dime is
- 51:27Speaker 3: going right now. It seems to be with AI. But
- 51:31Speaker 3: the UK says, well, if you're going to build them,
- 51:33Speaker 3: how can we use them for good? What can we do?
- 51:36Speaker 3: And they've actually come up with something that I think
- 51:39Speaker 3: may be able to get used here in America. How
- 51:43Speaker 3: do you think they could use what a data center
- 51:44Speaker 3: provides to make neighborhoods better?
- 51:47Speaker 2: Free internet.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Free internet is not a bad source. I believe that
- 51:52Speaker 3: is one of the deals. The data center right by
- 51:54Speaker 3: here in WESH is providing for Eatonville because they're using
- 51:58Speaker 3: a portion of that property. That's that weird tower thing
- 52:01Speaker 3: right there in that field. And they've been building that
- 52:03Speaker 3: for about six years or more now. It's been taking forever.
- 52:07Speaker 3: But I know the cost originally was under $ 20 million.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Now I think it's tripled.
- 52:11Speaker 13: Right.
- 52:12Speaker 2: The cost to build that. No, it's not that. Deb,
- 52:14Speaker 2: what do you what do you think?
- 52:15Speaker 3: How do you think they could use data centers for
- 52:17Speaker 3: good in neighborhoods when they're when they're hitting so many bad?
- 52:20Speaker 3: So this is a by the way, this is a
- 52:22Speaker 3: brilliantly good idea. I mean, if you're going to have
- 52:24Speaker 3: one of these things near you now, I don't know
- 52:26Speaker 3: if it would work in Florida so much heat. So
- 52:31Speaker 3: what they're doing is this. The UK says what we're
- 52:34Speaker 3: going to do is is we're going to create a
- 52:36Speaker 3: system that runs under the ground. The water that they
- 52:39Speaker 3: use to cool the data centers, we're going to take
- 52:44Speaker 3: the heat that gets transferred and use that to heat homes.
- 52:48Speaker 12: Nice.
- 52:49Speaker 2: That's what they're going to do. Is it safe?
- 52:52Speaker 24: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:52Speaker 3: Well, it says they're putting about $ 119 million into this project. Now,
- 52:56Speaker 3: according to the Department of Energy and Security, more than
- 53:00Speaker 3: 750,000 homes will get cheaper heating as part of this scheme,
- 53:04Speaker 3: which includes plan for a mega heat project that involves
- 53:07Speaker 3: distributing hot water via a tunnel system under the River
- 53:09Speaker 3: Thames to provide that hot water that I guess that
- 53:13Speaker 3: goes into radiators. That they used to heat, because, I mean,
- 53:17Speaker 3: is that what it would be? Because, I mean, in
- 53:19Speaker 3: New York, they did that for the longest time, right?
- 53:20Speaker 3: They'd pump hop water into the radiators. The radiators would
- 53:23Speaker 3: give off that heat and keep your house warm.
- 53:25Speaker 2: Yeah. So that's exactly what they're thinking of doing it. Oh, man.
- 53:29Speaker 24: What?
- 53:30Speaker 3: It just still sucks. Yeah, I know, but, I mean,
- 53:33Speaker 3: at least they're trying to figure out something to do
- 53:34Speaker 3: with them for good. Yeah, well, that's how it works.
- 53:37Speaker 3: Saffler's last name was on a library.
- 53:40Speaker 2: Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 53:43Speaker 6: Yeah, good point.
- 53:44Speaker 3: It says the government will host, says the hot water
- 53:46Speaker 3: will initially be transported about 15 miles along the Thames
- 53:50Speaker 3: each day by electric barges from a waste plant near Bexley.
- 53:55Speaker 3: And then they will turn that into heat for their houses.
- 53:59Speaker 3: I thought that was kind of cool. I like people
- 54:02Speaker 3: trying to outthink the problem. I mean, look, if you've
- 54:04Speaker 3: got to deal with these things, try to figure out
- 54:05Speaker 3: a way to work it. And I also like seeing
- 54:07Speaker 3: some benefit to the people who have to deal with it.
- 54:09Speaker 3: So if it's in your community, it's all those homes
- 54:14Speaker 3: around it that benefit from it as opposed to just
- 54:18Speaker 3: having to deal with it.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Right, right, right.
- 54:20Speaker 3: And so he said the IBM, I don't know, IBM
- 54:22Speaker 3: is doing this in Europe for years, like using the...
- 54:25Speaker 3: the leftover heat from their building, I guess, that cools
- 54:28Speaker 3: their computer systems to provide heat for homes. Like I said,
- 54:31Speaker 3: it won't work in Florida because we don't really need
- 54:33Speaker 3: heat in homes like most of the time. But I
- 54:35Speaker 3: think anything north of like Virginia, I think that would
- 54:38Speaker 3: be in play, would it not? Yeah, but that texter
- 54:41Speaker 3: used three explanation points, so I think they were more
- 54:43Speaker 3: yelling it at you. IBM has been doing this in
- 54:46Speaker 3: Europe for years.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I saw that story. I thought it was kind
- 54:49Speaker 2: of interesting.
- 54:50Speaker 3: The other one I wanted to kind of, I was
- 54:51Speaker 3: telling Deb, I saw one of the best small world,
- 54:54Speaker 3: do you ever love those stories? Like small world stories.
- 54:58Speaker 3: There's a really famous one of a guy and a
- 55:00Speaker 3: girl who got together and they're at Disney. And after
- 55:04Speaker 3: they got married, they were going through each other's, you know,
- 55:08Speaker 3: like photo books from their parents and stuff.
- 55:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:10Speaker 3: And realized there was a Polaroid of the family being taken.
- 55:14Speaker 3: And in the background is the woman who wind up
- 55:17Speaker 3: marrying the guy in a baby stroller. So, I mean,
- 55:21Speaker 3: they were at Disney at the exact same time from
- 55:23Speaker 3: different places in America.
- 55:26Speaker 7: Weird.
- 55:27Speaker 3: And that photograph they were taking of their family in
- 55:29Speaker 3: the background is the girl's family he winds up marrying.
- 55:32Speaker 15: Wow.
- 55:33Speaker 3: Another one happened today, and I thought it was kind
- 55:34Speaker 3: of interesting, right? I want to know, like, which one.
- 55:37Speaker 3: I want to hear this, but I also want to
- 55:39Speaker 3: know what your best one of these are.
- 55:41Speaker 2: God, man.
- 55:42Speaker 3: The thing is, when I saw this one today, I
- 55:43Speaker 3: was trying to think of it. I actually pulled this
- 55:45Speaker 3: for Deb, because Deb and I marvel at this stuff, like,
- 55:47Speaker 3: during the breaks.
- 55:48Speaker 12: Wait.
- 55:48Speaker 3: If we see something like this, we'll kind of tell
- 55:50Speaker 3: each other. But so I want to make sure I
- 55:52Speaker 3: get this right.
- 55:52Speaker 2: Yeah, here we go. So a girl, it goes to
- 55:54Speaker 2: an estate sale.
- 55:55Speaker 3: I think she's 23 years old, goes to an estate sale,
- 55:58Speaker 3: and she is an amateur photographer, right? So she's kind
- 56:02Speaker 3: of tooling around, tooling around, goes into a room, and
- 56:04Speaker 3: it's got some some photography stuff and one of these
- 56:06Speaker 3: things is one of those old digital cameras remember when
- 56:10Speaker 3: the whole idea of digital photography came out you had
- 56:12Speaker 3: a bunch of little handheld little cameras that you could
- 56:15Speaker 3: buy yeah like that was the thing to have right
- 56:17Speaker 3: you're taking your digital camera cyber shot right exactly right
- 56:20Speaker 3: and a cornicova exactly 100 right so she she sees
- 56:24Speaker 3: it there you know, turns it on, sees that it's working.
- 56:26Speaker 2: She goes, how much? They say, $ 10. No problem. I'll
- 56:29Speaker 2: take it.
- 56:29Speaker 8: Right.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Gives the 10 bucks. Um, and, uh, and goes on,
- 56:33Speaker 3: gets home and realizes, Hey, this thing's got an SD
- 56:36Speaker 3: card in it, right? An SD card with a bunch
- 56:40Speaker 3: of photographs on it. So she starts going through the photographs.
- 56:43Speaker 3: And as she starts going through the photographs, got to remember,
- 56:45Speaker 3: this is, uh, this was from years before, right? She
- 56:48Speaker 3: sees a photograph of a classroom. And as she starts
- 56:51Speaker 3: looking at the classroom, uh, She's like, hold up. That's
- 56:55Speaker 3: my fourth grade class.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Turns out a guy that came to her fourth grade
- 57:03Speaker 3: class to give a talk on the Appalachian Trail.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Wow.
- 57:07Speaker 3: Took a selfie with the class and down the road,
- 57:11Speaker 3: that was the camera that she found at the estate
- 57:13Speaker 3: sale that had a picture of her in the fourth
- 57:15Speaker 3: grade on it.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Wow. Complete small world stuff. I love it. That's crazy.
- 57:22Speaker 6: That is crazy.
- 57:23Speaker 2: All right. 407-916-1041.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Text us 77031. One of our favorite segments of the week.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Whiskey of the Week is next here on the Jim
- 57:31Speaker 3: Colbert Show.
- 57:41Speaker 20: Hey, guys, happy day. Jim, with your burger competition, cooking competition,
- 57:45Speaker 20: you're not explaining it well enough for these Muppets to understand.
- 57:49Speaker 20: It needs to have the description of the burger in
- 57:51Speaker 20: the name, like a pun name. Don't think of it
- 57:53Speaker 20: like Bob's Burger is a cartoon show. He does a
- 57:55Speaker 20: burger of the.
- 57:55Speaker 2: Day, but nobody is getting the point. No one has
- 57:58Speaker 2: a name for their burger. It's driving me crazy. I
- 58:01Speaker 2: love it, buddy. What up, guys? Sport from Duval. Duval.
- 58:08Speaker 25: I just want to say, Warren Sepp is a dick,
- 58:12Speaker 25: and I think he did do something wrong just because
- 58:14Speaker 25: of his personality for being a dick. We met him
- 58:17Speaker 25: at a mall up here in Jacksonville probably 15 years.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Ago, and he wouldn't.
- 58:22Speaker 25: Take a picture with me. His exact words, I was
- 58:25Speaker 25: wearing too much white.
- 58:27Speaker 24: That's what he said.
- 58:28Speaker 25: I had a white shirt and white shoes.
- 58:30Speaker 2: He's a maniac. That's the only white I had on,
- 58:31Speaker 2: and he wouldn't take a picture. The guy's a dick.
- 58:34Speaker 20: Have a good weekend.
- 58:34Speaker 2: That dude is a straight maniac. I saw some behavior.
- 58:37Speaker 2: I'll have it, dude.
- 58:38Speaker 3: At a club I worked at for quite a while
- 58:40Speaker 3: when we first started this business, I hosted a boxing
- 58:42Speaker 3: night at a place called the Roxy over there on
- 58:45Speaker 3: the other side of town and Warren Sapp.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Everybody. Shaq, Ken Griffey Jr., Gene Simmons, Tony Hawk.
- 58:51Speaker 3: I mean, we, Steven Seagal, we had like all kinds
- 58:54Speaker 3: of big time celebrities that would come into that place
- 58:56Speaker 3: all the time. Warren Sapp had the balls come in
- 58:58Speaker 3: there one time. Look at the VIP section that had
- 59:01Speaker 3: scads of celebrities up there and say, clear that out.
- 59:04Speaker 3: I don't want those people around me. Like legit said that.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Admit every word of it. That guy is a menace.
- 59:09Speaker 8: Dude.
- 59:10Speaker 2: He's the worst.
- 59:10Speaker 3: And what did the manager say to him? Does that
- 59:12Speaker 3: include Shaquille O'Neal? He says that includes Shaquille O'Neal, the
- 59:15Speaker 3: dude that can write a check for your entire worth
- 59:17Speaker 3: like 50 times over.
- 59:18Speaker 2: The Steven Seagal thing, that really jumped out, though.
- 59:21Speaker 3: That guy is not like the other celebrities.
- 59:22Speaker 2: He's not.
- 59:23Speaker 3: I've got to tell you, he is effing giant. Like,
- 59:27Speaker 3: you're talking about an imposing figure. Steven Seagal is an
- 59:31Speaker 3: imposing dude. He is a shadow of a man. That
- 59:35Speaker 3: guy is a walking monument.
- 59:38Speaker 2: He's giant. All right.
- 59:40Speaker 22: 407-916-1041.
- 59:41Speaker 2: Text us 77031. Welcome back. I'm Jim. There's Deb. Hello.
- 59:44Speaker 20: Jack.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Yep.
- 59:45Speaker 2: And Ross. Let's do Whiskey of the Week.
- 59:47Speaker 1: Forward slash distillery and blending house present Whiskey of the
- 59:52Speaker 1: Week on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Good luck for Jim and Michael. Live. Live. You guys
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: are live. And we have a whiskey we can sell
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: this week.
- 1:00:04Speaker 15: I know.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: We have one in stock. Isn't that fun? Which is
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: really awesome. How exciting. What have you guys been doing, man? Oh,
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: my gosh. We've been running around.
- 1:00:13Speaker 26: So October, November, December is our high season for us,
- 1:00:16Speaker 26: particularly because we get so into the holiday season. So
- 1:00:20Speaker 26: we kicked off an event called Forward Slasher on Wednesday,
- 1:00:23Speaker 26: and that runs all through from now all throughout October,
- 1:00:27Speaker 26: where we just– I mean, we put like 1,500 pieces
- 1:00:30Speaker 26: of Halloween decor.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Just lean into Halloween?
- 1:00:32Speaker 26: I mean, it's a haunted house in the distillery for
- 1:00:35Speaker 26: the next six weeks.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: I love it, man. You guys, I have to ask,
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: so how long has Ford Slash been open? We're in
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: our fourth year. Fourth year.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: Have you guys seen an increasing interest year by year?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: And have you seen that increase exponentially over the last
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: like 18 months?
- 1:00:53Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: Yeah, we have.
- 1:00:54Speaker 26: I mean, mainly because we don't do traditional... We do.
- 1:00:59Speaker 26: Everything's all word of mouth.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: That's what I'm asking for because every time we talk
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: about this segment or every time we go out and around,
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: I talk to people about bourbon and stuff like that.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: They mention forward slash. They mention the idea of crafted
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: and blended bourbons here in town. And I always kind
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: of wonder, how did you hear about it? Because you
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: guys are kind of a niche shop. But the word
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: is getting out, buddy. I mean, it's such a unique
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: spot that people are paying attention and they're really kind
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: of remembering the brand.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Which is awesome.
- 1:01:26Speaker 9: Well, I hear a lot, oh, I heard that on
- 1:01:28Speaker 9: the Jim Colbert show.
- 1:01:29Speaker 13: Oh, really?
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 1:01:30Speaker 26: We're giving away a lot of free whiskey recently on Fridays, man.
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: My bad.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: My bad. Yeah, remind everybody what that deal is.
- 1:01:37Speaker 26: Yeah, so if you mention the Jim Colbert show when
- 1:01:39Speaker 26: you come into the distillery, we'll give you a free
- 1:01:42Speaker 26: shot of bourbon or rye, your choice.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Yeah. We just want to see fans. That's what we're doing. Yeah,
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: that's all we like to do, too, buddy.
- 1:01:49Speaker 8: That's right.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: I got to tell you. I love you. All right, so.
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: Yeah, this guy. Yeah, this guy's a little... You're talking
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: about being forward. This guy's forward. We were at Ross's house.
- 1:01:57Speaker 7: What was that?
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Last week?
- 1:01:59Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I heard that one. It was a good time. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:02:01Speaker 26: An absurd amount of lotions in the bathroom.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Yeah. That too.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: That's so funny. I was like, when you said that,
- 1:02:08Speaker 3: I immediately got hotly jealous.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. I was like, I want to do
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: lotion with these guys.
- 1:02:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: Michael and Tim came over to my house, which is
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: where I record my show, Good Sauce with Ross and Joel.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: I am a Stan super fan. I believe in this product.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: I don't know. I got to turn off my mic
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: this week. This whiskey is too good. I disagree. I
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: will always just be smitten over amazing, great, successful local business. Well,
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: let's get to it, man. This is a new bourbon
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: release from you guys.
- 1:02:42Speaker 26: We have something in stock that people can buy just today.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Is this the day? Is this the day this thing
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: is released? Yeah, today. It went on sale 30 minutes ago.
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Did it really? This is great because I think this
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: one might be my favorite.
- 1:02:54Speaker 20: Whoa!
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: This one is, this just hits. It's right.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: It says, though, this is crossing over for you guys
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: is what it says in the literature for the product.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: What are we talking about here?
- 1:03:06Speaker 9: So this one, it's kind of fun for us because
- 1:03:08Speaker 9: this was.
- 1:03:10Speaker 27: Kind of the first time we were able to do
- 1:03:12Speaker 27: like older stocks of whiskey. So some that's been sitting
- 1:03:14Speaker 27: in our warehouse for a while, some of it's new
- 1:03:16Speaker 27: to us. So actually a distillery out of Nevada, Frey Ranch,
- 1:03:20Speaker 27: is a distillery we've been really wanting to work with.
- 1:03:23Speaker 27: So Frey Ranch and Finger Lakes Distilling are kind of
- 1:03:25Speaker 27: the backbone of this whiskey, and they really work well together.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: Very robust, rich. Yes.
- 1:03:30Speaker 9: Just great flavors. And then there's two others. We've always
- 1:03:34Speaker 9: used J.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: Henry.
- 1:03:34Speaker 27: It's a big one for us out of Wisconsin. And
- 1:03:37Speaker 27: then Oregon Spirit Distillers, which is another new distillery for us.
- 1:03:40Speaker 27: So everything, we have kind of West Coast and East Coast.
- 1:03:45Speaker 27: And that was kind of fun for us to be
- 1:03:46Speaker 27: able to take totally wildly different profiles and make it
- 1:03:51Speaker 27: come together in this delicious caramel richness vanilla bomb.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: How do you guys figure out which one is going
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: to be the base or the majority of the blend
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: in the whiskey?
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: Do you do that?
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: If you're blending three, you have three together, you don't
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: just do 33% of each one.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Obviously, that's not really blending. Sometimes we will.
- 1:04:10Speaker 26: When we're starting off, we will. We'll do 50-50. Just
- 1:04:14Speaker 26: to see what's playing with what. When you're tasting them
- 1:04:17Speaker 26: on your own, you're like, I have an idea. That
- 1:04:19Speaker 26: idea is usually wrong. And then the distillate and the
- 1:04:22Speaker 26: chemical reactions that are happening during blending will kind of
- 1:04:24Speaker 26: dictate that. So we are looking for the analogy we
- 1:04:27Speaker 26: always use is like a spine. So you've got your spine,
- 1:04:29Speaker 26: and then what are the rib whiskeys that are separating
- 1:04:32Speaker 26: off from that that are complementing it?
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Well, let's do this because last week we did a taste,
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: and I thought the one last week had a lot
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: of walnut in it.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: It was like walnut and some cinnamon in there.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: And we've been trying to play around with our own
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: palates to find definitive flavors within these whiskeys. This is Threshold.
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: This is a complex, rich, and interesting, delicious bourbon experience,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: it says. The finish on the whiskey keeps going and
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: going and holding your palate well after it's been consumed.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: They assemble bourbons from the frosty north of Wisconsin and
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: upstate New York, mix it all up with some stuff
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: from Nevada and Oregon, and off we go right here. Now,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: we're going to taste, and you guys will know the
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: notes in here, right? You guys know the primary notes
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: in here?
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: I mean, I know my taste. Okay, very good.
- 1:05:12Speaker 10: Hang on.
- 1:05:12Speaker 26: I must say, Jack, I'm very proud of you. You
- 1:05:14Speaker 26: are doing so good. I listened to when you guys
- 1:05:17Speaker 26: were going over the Tampa Cigar Week, and you were like, I...
- 1:05:21Speaker 26: I taste maple and cinnamon. I taste the things I'm
- 1:05:23Speaker 26: supposed to taste. That was like, for tasting, for testing,
- 1:05:27Speaker 26: that one had training wheels. That was so powerful.
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: That one.
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: And I think you describe it great. It's like breakfast.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: If whiskey was a breakfast. Oh, that one was absolutely wonderful.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: And you're right. It's like eating pancakes.
- 1:05:39Speaker 9: Yeah, I call that my pancake whiskey.
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: All right, cheers, guys. Here's the forward slash. Again, drinkforwardslash.com
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: online and on Instagram, drinkforwardslash.
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: Take a little snort here. Snort is a, I always
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: think we're doing something else.
- 1:05:56Speaker 15: Man.
- 1:05:57Speaker 26: So yeah, so this goes on sale today. It is $ 74.
- 1:06:01Speaker 15: 99.
- 1:06:02Speaker 26: We made about 998.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Bottles of it.
- 1:06:07Speaker 26: Yeah, this one's rich and complex and unbelievably balanced. The
- 1:06:12Speaker 26: backbone for this is the Frey Ranch out of Fallon, Nevada,
- 1:06:16Speaker 26: which brings all this like fresh green apple-ness and caramel flavor.
- 1:06:21Speaker 26: But then that eight-and-a-half-year-old bourbon out of New York that
- 1:06:26Speaker 26: we backfilled it with adds this really dusty, old-tasting. This
- 1:06:31Speaker 26: doesn't drink like it's six to nine years old. It
- 1:06:33Speaker 26: drinks like it's 10, 11, or 12 years old.
- 1:06:36Speaker 12: 100%.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: I think at the end of that, you're getting some
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: grass and almost hay. So that's actually from the Oregon spirits.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: So I taste that. I can pull that right out
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: of the finish. That's kind of what we were going for. Yeah,
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: that's exactly what I taste like at the end. There's
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: a lot of grass in there. And not grass in
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: the sense, it's weird talking about these flavors because people
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: are like, oh, grass. It's the nature of that kind
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: of base flavor that you get in there. That's what
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: I get in there. And up front, nice and a
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: little spicy there. Not as buttery as other whiskeys we've
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: had from you guys.
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: Not as creamy.
- 1:07:07Speaker 26: Yeah, and like a lot of that, there's less pot
- 1:07:09Speaker 26: still in this one. Most of these are column rectified distillates,
- 1:07:11Speaker 26: which are just lighter in general.
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: They're a little fruitier. They are a little fruitier. That
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: is a little fruitier, yeah.
- 1:07:17Speaker 26: But pot still whiskeys are going to have that weight,
- 1:07:19Speaker 26: that oil, that creaminess that you get off of that.
- 1:07:21Speaker 26: You also get that from fermentation, too. So it varies
- 1:07:24Speaker 26: from distiller to distiller, right? The fun thing that we
- 1:07:26Speaker 26: do is our style is complexity. That's really where we're
- 1:07:32Speaker 26: balanced in complexity. But none of our whiskeys are ever
- 1:07:35Speaker 26: going to taste the same.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Not even close.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: To me, this one is pretty far removed from the
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: ones you brought in before. And I'll jump in and
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: say none of the whiskeys will be– the same. They'll
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: be different from each bottle to bottle. That's the addicting part.
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: At least for me, that's the part where you're always
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: chasing that perfect bottle. I love that it's just so
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: exclusive and so special.
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: So when you guys are blending this and you sit down,
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: is it just the two of you guys?
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: So just the two of you sit down. And do
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: you guys always agree on what– I mean, how do
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: you guys come to a true– I mean, you can't
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: have the same exact palette. One of you guys has
- 1:08:15Speaker 3: to like something more than the other. We're pretty close.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: There might be only a few times where we're like–
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: A little bit different, but for the majority of the time,
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: we're pretty on point with each other.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: It's a little Harold and Maude kind of situation.
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: And when you guys taste the whiskeys that are going
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: to blend in there, you obviously taste them separately and
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: then kind of think to yourself, well, what can I
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: really pull out of these five different or three different
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: or four different? to provide one sole flavor that I'm
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: looking for. I mean, that must be a pretty big
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: challenge as well, right?
- 1:08:43Speaker 9: That can take a while. We're looking for.
- 1:08:46Speaker 26: Like, complementing and contrasting. Complementing and contrasting and just playing
- 1:08:50Speaker 26: around with those. We probably did about, like, 45 different
- 1:08:55Speaker 26: recipes of this before we got into it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: I'm curious about one person's opinion. here, and it's Jack.
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Jack, you're on record of saying this. This one was
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: my favorite, and it's funny. As you were describing, I'm
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: not great at picking out. I couldn't tell you green
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: apple if it hit me in the head. But the
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: changes in the taste from the beginning and then the
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: flavor and then on the back end. And when you
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: said grassy, I could relate to that.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: I don't know if it's earthy, grassy, or there was
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: just more of a dryness to it. But I can
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: definitely pick up the changes there. In the taste. And
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: I think that's really, to be honest with you, where
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: I've noticed a pattern in these whiskeys that you guys
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: have brought in, even from the rise, is you are
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: going to get right up front, you're going to get
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: that flavor. But to me, these whiskeys really shine when
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: they kind of are on your palate for a minute.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: and you bring some air into your nose and really
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: kind of get that thing kind of aerating in your palate,
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: you can really feel.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: It come to life then. That's my opinion of this.
- 1:09:56Speaker 26: Yeah, most of these bourbons, too, that we use are
- 1:09:58Speaker 26: pretty rye forward, and the rye spice comes right in
- 1:10:01Speaker 26: the palate. Right out front, dude. It is right there. Yeah,
- 1:10:03Speaker 26: but I don't really get it until like the third
- 1:10:05Speaker 26: or fourth sip. I'm starting to really not.
- 1:10:07Speaker 9: I get it more on the finish than I do
- 1:10:08Speaker 9: at the initial sip.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: Absolutely, yeah.
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: For me, it's right up front because it's a little spicier.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Rye whiskey is always a little– I call it hot
- 1:10:15Speaker 3: as opposed to– You know, bourbons are scotches that are
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: a little bit more mellow, peaty, smoky, whatever. This comes
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: in like, you know, some of these come in like
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: brandy almost up front where you really get that burst
- 1:10:25Speaker 3: of flavor right up front. And then they mellow out
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: on the back of your palate. It's not super dry.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: It makes me salivate a little bit.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: I want to have another sip.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Very earthy, by the way. Very good. It's drinkforwardslash.com.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: You can go to the website. This is called Threshold.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: It literally got released 35 minutes ago. 74 99 for
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: the bottle. There's only 990 bottles available. So if you
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: want to get one of these slide over today, get
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: yourself a shot and then buy yourself a bottle. By
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: the way, great Christmas gift. If you have a, somebody
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: who's a fan of the show and you want to
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: do something early and they love this 74 99 for
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: a great bottle of bourbon is well within the realm
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: of good bourbons across the, across the, uh, the brands.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: Yeah. And the other thing that's on sale today is
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: convergence rye. Remember this is going to come out soon.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: I promise.
- 1:11:11Speaker 26: Uh, Yeah, so the big delay for us was it
- 1:11:15Speaker 26: took us over a year to design a new label packaging.
- 1:11:18Speaker 26: It's the first time we've done it while being actually open.
- 1:11:21Speaker 26: So there's just a lot of speed bumps that you
- 1:11:24Speaker 26: run into with doing this. We are so proud of
- 1:11:27Speaker 26: this new label design that we have. This was designed
- 1:11:30Speaker 26: by a former local, Leanne Hare, who now lives up
- 1:11:34Speaker 26: in North Georgia.
- 1:11:35Speaker 23: Yeah.
- 1:11:36Speaker 26: But she's an incredibly talented artist and graphic artist and
- 1:11:39Speaker 26: whiskey nut. So we hired a whiskey enthusiast to design
- 1:11:43Speaker 26: our label for us, and we're super happy with how
- 1:11:44Speaker 26: it turned out.
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: Yeah, the bottles are beautiful. They really are.
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: By the way, somebody just texted and said, when you
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: go to the bar, make sure you ask for a
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: tally man.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Oh, the telly man is off the menu. Oh, is
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: it really? The dude says it's.
- 1:11:54Speaker 26: Like one of the greatest cocktails. It was great. Yeah,
- 1:11:59Speaker 26: so now we're in the fall. It's time for Halloween, people, okay?
- 1:12:03Speaker 26: And so now we have a completely new cocktail menu
- 1:12:05Speaker 26: in the tasting room for Forward Slasher. Yeah, we've decked
- 1:12:09Speaker 26: out the entire distillery. It is quite an experience. Yeah,
- 1:12:11Speaker 26: I'll wait to get over there and check it out. Actually,
- 1:12:13Speaker 26: I'll probably be over there next weekend for that to
- 1:12:15Speaker 26: kind of hang out for a little bit. You guys,
- 1:12:17Speaker 26: thank you for dropping by. Remember, this is Threshold Bourbon
- 1:12:21Speaker 26: released today, $ 74. 99 a bottle, only $ 9. 90, so go grab it. Guys,
- 1:12:24Speaker 26: good and loud for Tim and Michael.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: Yay!
- 1:12:28Speaker 22: Thank you, thank you.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: Great forward slash dot com. Perfect. At drink forward slash
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: on Instagram.
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: All right.
- 1:12:34Speaker 20: 407-916-1041.
- 1:12:34Speaker 8: Text us 77031.
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: Back in one sec with more of the Jim Colbert Show.
- 1:12:48Speaker 8: Still single, still male.
- 1:12:49Speaker 9: I miss me some Dirty Debra. Man, Debra, come on.
- 1:12:52Speaker 17: Back with that Dirty Debra, with all that consciousness you've
- 1:12:55Speaker 17: been suppressing.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: And Jimmy, man, you're the Prince of Palatka. What you
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: talking about? Steven Seagal's imposing. You're supposed to be some
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: kind of badass, man. What's going on? Who says I'm
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: a badass?
- 1:13:05Speaker 9: And wherever Jack's at, Jack, just do a manager.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 1:13:08Speaker 9: I love the show.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: Thank you, buddy. Appreciate it. Jimmy, check your man card.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Thank you. Appreciate it. You'd say the same thing, dude.
- 1:13:14Speaker 15: He's a monster.
- 1:13:15Speaker 16: Jim, so that story where the girl found pictures on
- 1:13:17Speaker 16: that SD card got me thinking of that SD card
- 1:13:21Speaker 16: that you found. Did you ever figure out what was
- 1:13:24Speaker 16: on it? Because I've been waiting for years to find out.
- 1:13:27Speaker 6: Damn, dude.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: I totally forgot about that thing.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: I literally put it in my drawer and made a
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: plan to get a hold of Code Black and never
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: did it.
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: Because I just totally forgot about it.
- 1:13:35Speaker 8: Go ahead.
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: I'm swilling.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: I have bad news.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Is he playing that? Yes, he is. We'll be able
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: to make it to the event on Saturday.
- 1:13:49Speaker 13: Yay.
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: Prior obligations. But courtesy of our friend, Sarah, I'll be
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: there for the best of next weekend. Very nice, buddy.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Good to see you there. Y'all get your daily dose
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: of dumbass. Okay, I love you.
- 1:14:00Speaker 8: Goodbye.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: All right, see you soon. Islands are cool, Jim.
- 1:14:03Speaker 13: Very cool.
- 1:14:04Speaker 17: They are cool.
- 1:14:04Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: Man, I saw, I don't know, saw his roll of
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: the Reddit today and saw a video. It says, this
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: is the real North Korea. And it was a classroom
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: of kids playing instruments, and they were getting down. One
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: dude was playing guitar. There were like five girls playing violins.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: One kid was playing a piano, and they were destroying it.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: I mean, xylophones, show tune stuff. They were at dance
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: moves the whole nine yards. How old do you think
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: they were?
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Twelve. Thirteen. Seven. Nailed it.
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: Seven years old playing instruments like virtuosos in North Korea.
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: I think you can only find that here in the
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: States when Jack Black did it in School of Rock.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Yeah, no joke. All right, welcome back.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: I'm Jim.
- 1:14:50Speaker 2: There's Deb. Hello. Jack. Yeah. And Sauce here as well.
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: Happy Friday. Happy Friday.
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: Hey, don't forget, we are going to be downtown tomorrow
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: in Mount Dora for Suds, Pups, and Pints, the fourth annual.
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: If you don't have plans tomorrow, come on down. It's
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: a free event. It doesn't cost you anything to come
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: in and kind of enjoy the entire day with us.
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: We will have some opportunities for you to spend some
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: money because we are raising money for the Humane Society
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: of Lake County. And if you want to do that,
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: you certainly can. But you can also just bring your
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: dog down and hang out with the rest of us
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: that are down there. We always have a good crowd.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: It's always fun.
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: And I'm telling all my friends to come down, too,
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: and bring their dogs. Tell my boy Tim to come
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: on out.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: And if you don't have a dog, you are welcome
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: to join us. Just know there will be dogs there,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: but you don't need a dog to go.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: It's open to everybody.
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: And by the way, if you have a– I know
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: people sometimes will have a phobia or a fear of
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: random dogs.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: We have not had one incident.
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: You're going to stop right there. Do not say another
- 1:15:45Speaker 6: word or I will haunt you until your last breath.
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: What am I doing wrong? You are just.
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: About to jinx it.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Do not do that. Okay, okay.
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: My God, man.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: People look up to you.
- 1:15:59Speaker 15: Don't.
- 1:16:01Speaker 6: I can see it. Don't do it.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: I'm going to play that AI song again.
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: Don't do it.
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: Have you no decency, sir?
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: You already missed last year. Don't jinx this year.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: Haven't you done enough? Let me just have another drink.
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: You have all the whatever that is.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: It's so good, isn't it?
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: Don't finish that sentence. I just sweat on my upper lip.
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: My God.
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: Drink forward slash dot com. Is that what it takes?
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: Because that's hot.
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: Help me, Jesus.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: Take the wheel. We're finally having a really good time.
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: A really safe, fun time tomorrow like we've had for
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: the last four years. It's going to be great.
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Yeah, it is going to be great. We can't wait.
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: Shout out to Clauseman Law. You don't believe in all that,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: do you?
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: Come on.
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: I don't want to take the chance.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I got you.
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? I don't want to take
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: the chance.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: When you're running around and you need, you're trying to
- 1:16:51Speaker 3: avoid an act of God, the best thing to do
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: is not tempt people.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: It looks like we're going to dodge rain this year
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: at least. Oh, yeah.
- 1:16:59Speaker 15: Hey.
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: Come on.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: Come on. Come on. No swarms of deadly flies yet.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: No.
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: Now it's going to rain dog bites.
- 1:17:09Speaker 15: Yes.
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: Don't say that.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: And thanks to Clausman Law, our title sponsor, Pawfection Dog Training, Guinness,
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: that mortgage guy, Don, and so many others.
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: God, man, nobody here is hard to do this to. Oh, yeah,
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: go ahead.
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: Leaps of Fun, because Louis at Leaps of Fun is
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: the one bringing the dunk tank for us.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: Oh, very cool. Leaps of Fun. It's an old buddy
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: of ours from back in the, like, before I was
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: in radio. I've known this kid.
- 1:17:35Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Louis Renton. He owns this. And when you said,
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: if you guys could find a dunk tank. It turns out.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Lewis to the rescue.
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: We had met Lewis at IAPA. Chris and I, when
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: we were at IAPA. And so when you put out
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: the call for a dunk tank, I just had to
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: make one phone call.
- 1:17:52Speaker 2: And IAPA is.
- 1:17:53Speaker 6: The International Association of.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. It's the Publix for theme parks.
- 1:17:59Speaker 6: It is the Publix for theme parks, amusement parks, fairgrounds,
- 1:18:03Speaker 6: you name it. It's a lot of fun.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: It's basically a theme park convention.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: It is. Literally, yeah.
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: You can go and buy a ride.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: So the bigwigs buy future technology.
- 1:18:13Speaker 9: It really is.
- 1:18:13Speaker 6: You can see all of them walking around.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: So I'll be in the dunk tank tomorrow for... About
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: an hour or so.
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: Yeah, but fresh water.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: Fresh water.
- 1:18:20Speaker 6: You know, fresh water.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: I'll take care of that when I get out, though.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: Who's coming behind me? So here's the deal. Big T
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: and T-Bag, the Ts. Let me tell you what we know.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: I have releases. They need to be signed.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: Big T has reached out, said he would like to
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: go right after Jim.
- 1:18:37Speaker 9: Oh, Jim.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: T-Bag has reached out and left a talk back yesterday,
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: just after you left, Jim, that he is working on
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: the sewing machine, making his costume.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: He's making a costume for this. Okay, very nice.
- 1:18:49Speaker 3: Very nice.
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: A drowning hazard. We hope. And we're not opposed. As
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: long as he signs the release. There you go.
- 1:18:59Speaker 6: You got to sign the release.
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: Does this stuff have a window in front where we
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: can see him drown? Yeah, I think. I don't know.
- 1:19:05Speaker 14: I don't know.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: But T-Bag's mom will be there, and it's going to
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: be her birthday as well.
- 1:19:09Speaker 10: Oh, wow.
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: Let's dunk her. I can't think of a better time
- 1:19:12Speaker 2: to do it.
- 1:19:12Speaker 6: She's already being dunked.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hasn't that woman been through enough?
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: At birth, life dunked.
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: She's usually sitting there like, help me.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: Hey, quick thing I saw on Reddit again today. When's
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: the last time you did an interview, Ross? I mean,
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: I think you of anybody would have, like, you would
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: have been the last person to do an interview. I
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: haven't done an interview. I did one interview in my
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: entire life.
- 1:19:35Speaker 5: What?
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: I've done one interview in my entire life. There's no
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: way that's true.
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: That's 100% true. The bathtub photo?
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 1:19:43Speaker 6: He's talking about a job interview.
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: A job interview. Oh, a job interview.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: And I'm like, wait a minute, ChatGPT just gave me
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: a bunch of your interviews. You know what's so funny?
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: Is that when Jim asked me that question, I was like,
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: all right, man, thanks. You think I am the one
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: out of us four worthy for an interview? He's talking
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: about damn job interviews. But you should get an interview.
- 1:20:04Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: It's the opposite of what I thought. Exactly. Yeah. And Jack,
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: have you ever been to a job interview? I have.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: And I did poorly. You did poorly. Why?
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: Because it was after Calico Jack's closed. I think they
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: were opening up Chili's and they were doing a hiring event.
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: And I went in, I was a manager and bartender.
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: I went in, I wanted to be a bartender and
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: I was kind of strict on that. He's like, would
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: you be open to be a server? I'm like, I
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: prefer to be a bartender. And then he started interviewing
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: the next person. I went back and he said, And
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: I went back. I'm like, you know what? I would
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: be open to be a survey. He's like, yeah, but
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: your heart wouldn't be in it because you want to
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: be a bartender.
- 1:20:40Speaker 12: Oh.
- 1:20:41Speaker 2: And they hired somebody else? Yeah.
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: No, they were hiring a bunch of people, but not
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: me that day. Deb, interview or job interview?
- 1:20:47Speaker 6: The last one would probably be for this show and
- 1:20:49Speaker 6: then before that for this company.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: Yeah, really. I had some auditions and I had one.
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: That's an interview, is it not?
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: Kind of, sort of, but you could not get the
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: job because you're too tall.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Oh, I see.
- 1:21:01Speaker 3: Yeah, right? So that's kind of different than a job interview.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: Or your face doesn't look good painted blue.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: And I've never really gone into great detail, but I
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: just had some bourbon. And I had, like, the biggest
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: interview of my life this year.
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: Did you really?
- 1:21:15Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: And it got really, really far. I was very close
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: to not being here.
- 1:21:20Speaker 10: Oh, really?
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: Yeah. You almost got that lucky. And that lucky.
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: I gave a great reference, but I guess it didn't
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: pan out. No, in hindsight, though... I think it was
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: a small blessing in disguise. It was a really, really
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: big opportunity for a very big brand that's on a
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: meteoric rise right now. And I got to interview the
- 1:21:38Speaker 3: CEO or he got to interview me.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: Maybe that's why I didn't get it.
- 1:21:44Speaker 12: Oh, no.
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: And the question is this. How did you prepare for that?
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: When you went in, were you dressed nice? Did you
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: really care? The question is this. Do you bring coffee
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: or something into an interview when you do it?
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: So it was a video interview, and I had water. Okay, yeah.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: I think I just drank water.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: So they're just asking this question, like, if you go
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: to an interview, would you bring a cup of coffee
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: with you to interview? And for the life of me,
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: I couldn't even figure out why they were asking. Of
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: course you could bring a cup of coffee and do
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: an interview.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: Who cares? Right?
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: No, that does not look good. That is unprofessional. That's
- 1:22:17Speaker 6: a bad look.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: This is just a bad segment for you.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: To bring a Starbucks coffee into a job interview would
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: be a bad move.
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: Bad look.
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: I think it is a bad look.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Wow, really?
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: You can't get through a 15-minute conversation without a beverage?
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: But doesn't that show a comfort level? Like you're comfortable
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: with yourself. You're comfortable with the situation. Maybe too comfortable.
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: This is part of your day. Too comfortable is a
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: cup of coffee?
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: Too comfortable, yeah.
- 1:22:46Speaker 7: Wow.
- 1:22:46Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: This is us deciding if we want you to be
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: part of the team and you're treating it like you're
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: hanging out with a friend. Well, maybe that's what it
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: requires to get the job.
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: You've done the research of the company and the research
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: tells you that that's the kind of vibe that they
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: have in the office and you're matching what you're coming
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: in to be interviewed for. But when you come in
- 1:23:07Speaker 6: with props, you're automatically setting right off rip. Hey, decided
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: starbucks was worth stopping before i got here wow i.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: Would have never ever guessed that that would that would
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: be that visceral of a response it was kind of
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: 50 50 in the in the comments on that on
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: the on the thread i saw today yeah yeah some
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: some people care about that yeah i know i i
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: know i wouldn't but do you wear a suit oh
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: no you dress up i i need more i need
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: more context yeah what are you laughing at Deb finishes
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: her comments on why it's a bad idea, then reaches
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: over to sip her coffee.
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: Well, she's not interviewing. It's soda. It's bourbon. All right.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: Bringing any beverage into an office meeting just seems like.
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: The funny thing is, is that was brought up. Like,
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: you know, they're like, well, I wouldn't come in there
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: with a bottle of soda. But I don't think, I
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: think a cup of coffee is so synonymous with business.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Hold on. We'll just talk about this in a second.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Back in a sec. Hey, y'all.
- 1:24:05Speaker 15: It's Danny Myring.
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: I am on the road back from a media event
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: at Disney's Boardwalk, where the new Hurley Burley.
- 1:24:14Speaker 15: Lounge will be opening up.
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: On October 1st, it takes over for Jelly Rolls. The
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: Dueling Piano Bar is no longer there, and this gorgeous
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: lounge space will open at 4 p.m. every day for
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: family-friendly stuff. And then 9 p.m., it's.
- 1:24:31Speaker 15: 21 and up only.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: Have a good Friday. Thank you. Good hearing from you.
- 1:24:35Speaker 9: Good afternoon, Jim, Deb, Jack, Ross.
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: One of my favorite small world stories is a book
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: my dad gave me that was written by his best
- 1:24:45Speaker 10: friend's father about his experience as the commanding officer of
- 1:24:50Speaker 10: a unit during World War I. Turns out that unit
- 1:24:55Speaker 10: was the same unit that my best friend's father served in,
- 1:24:58Speaker 10: and my best friend had never known what his experiences
- 1:25:01Speaker 10: were like until she got to read this book.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: That's wild.
- 1:25:07Speaker 12: Good afternoon. I hope you all are getting geared up
- 1:25:10Speaker 12: and ready because we only have 22 hours until suds, pups,
- 1:25:13Speaker 12: and pints. I am wicked excited. Hoping to see big
- 1:25:16Speaker 12: long lines for the dunk tank out there. And yeah,
- 1:25:19Speaker 12: I will definitely be going in before teabag because I
- 1:25:21Speaker 12: do not want to come out of that dunk tank
- 1:25:23Speaker 12: with alcohol poisoning. But besides all the fun activities for tomorrow, Jimmy,
- 1:25:27Speaker 12: do you know what was even more useful than.
- 1:25:29Speaker 9: The first telephone?
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: I don't know, buddy.
- 1:25:31Speaker 13: What?
- 1:25:32Speaker 2: Well, I mean, it was the second telephone, dude. Big
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: D out.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: That one hurt you, didn't.
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: It?
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: I'm frozen. Can somebody come and punch me? One telephone?
- 1:25:45Speaker 9: What are you going.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: To do with it? Wait, let me give you one
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: more as a palate cleanser. Sure, yeah. A sorbet?
- 1:25:58Speaker 23: Hey, that guy that did the building a house burger
- 1:26:02Speaker 23: at the end of the show yesterday, that sounded really good.
- 1:26:06Speaker 19: Sure do hope he gets in.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: I do too, man. We still have time.
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: If you guys want to get in your burger idea
- 1:26:12Speaker 3: and cook for us next weekend at our big gig
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: at Sunset Walk. The promenade there for our Best Of Challenge.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: We'd love to have it. Still got an hour and
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: a half or so to get that in.
- 1:26:21Speaker 20: Yep.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that was the same guy that left
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: the talk back from yesterday.
- 1:26:25Speaker 7: It was.
- 1:26:25Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: But they're on the list, and I'm keeping everyone's, and
- 1:26:30Speaker 3: I will send out emails over the weekend.
- 1:26:32Speaker 2: Very nice. I'm Jim. There's Deb.
- 1:26:33Speaker 13: Hello.
- 1:26:33Speaker 14: Jack.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:26:34Speaker 2: And Sauce Steven Seagal. Yeah. And by the way, look,
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you something else.
- 1:26:40Speaker 14: Man.
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: Uh, Steven Seagal is a big dude. I tell you,
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: Gene Simmons was a big guy, but one of the
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: dudes that's, that was the, one of the scariest cats
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: only because of his size, because he was a sweetheart
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: of a guy, um, was Jose Canseco. Um, the former
- 1:26:55Speaker 3: baseball player for the Oakland A's.
- 1:26:56Speaker 12: Yep.
- 1:26:57Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: Who definitely didn't do drugs. Half of the bash brothers. Um,
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: I forget what they were doing, but he was endorsing
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: something or part of a, a meet and greet or something.
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: And they came into the, uh, to the studio on,
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: when we were on the other side of the building.
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: And I mean, you can ask anybody on that show
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: when he walked in, he had to dip his head
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: a little bit, but his shoulders were as wide as
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: the door and his, his presence blocked the light from
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: the green room.
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: And it's not because of drugs. No, he was, I mean, gigantic.
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: And that's kind of how Seagal was. It was kind
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: of overwhelming.
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: You kind of get an idea that movie dudes are
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: going to be just like movie dudes. We had a
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: lot of movie dudes. They're all relatively smaller guys. Seagal
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: was not that guy. I knew he was tall, but
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: I always thought he was a little fat and pudgy.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: I didn't think he was like.
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: We did not have him in that stage. Really?
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: This would have been literally right before he left to
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: go to Russia.
- 1:27:50Speaker 8: Remember?
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: Because he hauled that one over to Russia and dyed
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: his beard black and did all this weird stuff. It
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: was literally right before that.
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: He's 6'4. Yeah, yeah. Steven Seagal.
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: But he looks way bigger than that when you see
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: him in person. He does not look just 6'4. I
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: know a bunch of people who are 6'4. Angel's like
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: 6'6 or 6'7. And he looked bigger than Angel. Above
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: the Law, his first movie, where he was Nico.
- 1:28:13Speaker 9: Oh, dude.
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: And then the one on the ship with Tommy Lee Jones.
- 1:28:17Speaker 3: Those are the two good ones, and the rest... I
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: disagree with you wholeheartedly. I think Mark for Death was
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: a good one.
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: That's one. Screwface?
- 1:28:25Speaker 3: The Jamaican dude? The Jamaican gang guy that had some
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: kind of crazy power? I think that was a good one.
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: Don't remember that one. Executive Decision is the one you're
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: talking about, right? No, that's the one where he refused
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: to come out of his trailer because he dies in
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: the movie, and he's like.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: what are my fans gonna think they've never seen me
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: die on.
- 1:28:42Speaker 3: Screen and that's the other thing because I think John
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: Leguizamo was in that movie as well and he was
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: the one who started telling stories about what a prick
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: this guy was yeah yeah what was the name what
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: was that movie Under Siege Under Siege was the one
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: on the ship with Tommy Lee Jones right yeah yeah
- 1:28:56Speaker 3: and Erica Eleniak and the cake And before he went crazy,
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: Gary Busey.
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: Gary Busey. That's right. Gary Busey. Highlander.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: Stephen Gall has always been laughed at from everyone of,
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: I think, in the millennial generation.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:15Speaker 2: He's clown show stuff, right? With the Aikido thing. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: Because he went over there and they started releasing videos
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: of him doing Aikido against Kung Fu Masters or whatever.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: And he's just kind of throwing them across the room
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: with a force. He's barely even touching them. All that junk.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: And he's a commie. He's a commie. By the way,
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: on the coffee thing, you guys apparently are right. Really?
- 1:29:40Speaker 3: Guy says here, as someone who's been the primary interview
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: at various companies for the past 25 years, I 100%
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: agree with Jack. Never had someone bring a coffee into
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: an interview, but I would definitely have some follow-up questions
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: if they came in with one.
- 1:29:53Speaker 6: Someone also said, I'm an IT manager, and I had
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: a guy come in one time for an interview wearing
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: a Homer Simpson T-shirt. Didn't get two words out of
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: his mouth. I said, you're not what we're looking for.
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: But isn't the job interview scene way different than it
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: used to be? The reason why I found this so
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: kind of remarkable is because this is a considerably more
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: lax environment. When you see people who are total professionals,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: it's not like the suit and tie class anymore. You
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: get high-level professionals wearing sport jackets, t-shirts, and tennis shoes
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: and jeans.
- 1:30:23Speaker 6: That's because their expertise would allow them to do that,
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: but When you're entry-level and you're trying to make a
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: name and make your place, you've got to walk in
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: with respect.
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: Yeah, but not every interview is for an entry-level position.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. That's the part I didn't get
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: about it. If I was to leave this company and
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: go to another company, I have 34 years of tenure
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: to look at and go, look, I don't need to
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: come in here in a suit and tie with my
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: belt and everything tucked in because you can go and
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: see my history. I can come in here in a
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: Hawaiian shirt and flip flops. You're going to get the
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: same product. You know what I do. If the interview
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: is happening in a coffee shop, that would be the
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: only reason I'd expect you to have a cup of
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: coffee in your hand. Well, when Scott and I started
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: our relationship, that's where we had our meeting at Starbucks.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: And I would love to look at you and be like, yeah,
- 1:31:10Speaker 3: the guy who's extremely, you know, he's able to do
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: the job at a very high level. And he gets
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: he shows up with cargo shorts and flip flops. He'll
- 1:31:19Speaker 3: be shown the same respect as someone in a suit.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: But that's just not the case. I, you're saying like
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: the guy in the interview, he can show up in
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: flip flops and shorts that it shouldn't make a difference.
- 1:31:30Speaker 3: He has a 35 year career, but like it always has,
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: it always will.
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:31:35Speaker 6: Cause they may not know you as well as you
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: think they should.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: But that's what I'm disagreeing with though, because I don't
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: know that the culture is the same anymore. Like, I
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: don't know that that culture still is. I mean, that's
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: the thing that's kind of shocking me about this being
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: the older guy in the room is I don't know
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: how people, I don't know how much people adhere to
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: that anymore or you need to come in with a
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: suit and all that stuff. If you have some kind
- 1:31:54Speaker 3: of tenure or prominence coming in beforehand.
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: You're right.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: And Generation Z, Gen Z, might see it that way. However,
- 1:32:02Speaker 3: the people doing the hiring might not. And that's why
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: they may take offense to someone bringing a cup of
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: coffee where the person bringing the cup of coffee, hey,
- 1:32:12Speaker 3: what's the big deal, bro?
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: Let me ask you a question then. I find this interesting.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: I'm sorry. Go ahead.
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: I was just going to say, you know, to Ross's point,
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: you know, When you go in with what you believe
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: your reputation is without meeting that person, that doesn't give
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: them the opportunity to let you know exactly where you are.
- 1:32:29Speaker 6: You know what I'm saying? You're walking in and assuming
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: you already know who I am.
- 1:32:34Speaker 2: Well, kind of.
- 1:32:35Speaker 6: But in the end, they really may not. And that
- 1:32:37Speaker 6: person who comes in with a suit and isn't carrying
- 1:32:39Speaker 6: a drink and maybe has 30 years of experience might
- 1:32:43Speaker 6: just be seen differently from the hiring manager.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: Would you guys agree this is job eccentric? Are jobs specific?
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: Jobs specific?
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, jobs specific.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: Do you think that Danny over at Threat Locker would
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: turn somebody down if they were wearing flip-flops and a
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: shirt if it showed that they know how to do
- 1:33:00Speaker 3: that particular job and it isn't really required for them
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: to be in front of people? Compared to someone with
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: the same exact skill set who showed up in a suit?
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: I think the suit guy is going to win. For
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: some reason, I just do not agree with that. I
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: just don't know that modern hirers really put that much
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: weight into that anymore. But I think it shows what
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: level of respect that the applicant has for the position
- 1:33:22Speaker 3: and the person that they're meeting with.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: Maybe so. There's no question there.
- 1:33:26Speaker 6: And that's where Gen Z, you know, this is obviously
- 1:33:29Speaker 6: a question because someone younger must have walked in to
- 1:33:32Speaker 6: a job interview with a coffee and didn't think it
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: was a big deal. And that's where the culture, you know,
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: cause it is a big deal.
- 1:33:40Speaker 3: It's a wild that I could, that if I, you
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: do think if I walked into a, into an interview
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: with Judy, our boss here who runs this cluster and I, I,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: you know, I came in with a coffee. And I
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: set my coffee down on the side table, and I
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: got out my notes, and we started talking about it.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: Do you think that would be the focal point? That's
- 1:33:58Speaker 3: what somebody like her would focus on?
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: Is that a meeting?
- 1:34:00Speaker 7: No, no.
- 1:34:01Speaker 12: Yes.
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: I mean, like it's a job interview. I just said
- 1:34:03Speaker 3: the job interview. Like a job interview. I go in,
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: and I'm interviewing with Judy, right? Judy's a professional, been
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: in this business for a long time at a very
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: high level. I walk in with a coffee. I set
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: my coffee down on a side table. I break out
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: my notepad and we start talking about the job. You're
- 1:34:17Speaker 3: saying that the boss is going to focus on that
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: cup of coffee more than what I'm about to say?
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: Not the cup of coffee, the attitude behind the coffee,
- 1:34:23Speaker 6: what that says. It puts you on an even par
- 1:34:26Speaker 6: with someone who's being your hiring manager. You're not the manager.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: It's just a cup of coffee.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: Not that it's going to take the priority and precedent
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: over the whole interview, but it might be one thing
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: in the con column, the negative column for the experience.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: I don't know. Do you want to ask her? Do
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: you want to bring her in? No, no, no. I mean, yeah,
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: I wouldn't mind. How about a water bowl? You know what?
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: Would a bottle of water mean anything? Would that be different?
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: You know what's weird is that if it's like your
- 1:34:53Speaker 3: own water bottle, I think socially that's far more accepted.
- 1:34:56Speaker 25: Yeah.
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: Somebody explain that to me. Brother, I just can tell
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: you what it is. I can't give you the exact
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: why a lot of the time. But that doesn't work
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: for me.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: That type of thing, because you literally have just destroyed
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: your own argument.
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: If you walk in with a water bottle, that's less
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: professional than a cup of coffee? If you walk in.
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: With a sweating Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee, 32-ounce versus your
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: bought Yeti, Yeah.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: I do not understand that.
- 1:35:27Speaker 3: The Yeti that I bring every day, that Yeti of water,
- 1:35:29Speaker 3: I bring it every day to the station. Every single day,
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: it's sitting right here behind this monitor for my water.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: If I walk into a job interview and I have
- 1:35:37Speaker 3: that Yeti and I don't have a cup of Starbucks,
- 1:35:41Speaker 3: that would be a different banker.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: Not a giant, but it would be a step in
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: the correct direction.
- 1:35:47Speaker 6: Somebody just texted us, And someone else texted, If someone
- 1:35:57Speaker 6: coming in cannot take the small effort of wearing some
- 1:35:59Speaker 6: nice clothing, then what makes me think they're going to
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: take the effort to go the extra mile?
- 1:36:03Speaker 3: You want me to throw a real wrench into this whole? Listen,
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: you've wrenched the machine up with the whole water bottle thing.
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: That one I do not understand. I do not see
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: the difference in that at all. The last interview I had,
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: I remember I was dressed, I believe, in a very
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: fresh T-shirt, and the interviewer was in a yellow suit.
- 1:36:22Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: But it's a suit.
- 1:36:24Speaker 3: It's a suit, and it's very yellow. I think you've
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: just outed the company you interviewed with. I think I did,
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: and it worked. I remember just why he wore that suit,
- 1:36:38Speaker 3: and it was very relaxing. And, of course, I'm referring
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: to the Savannah Bananas. The suit seems like a crutch.
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: Ross was going to play second base. I'm not athletic.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: I would think that people looking for specific skill sets,
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: I think the conversation would tell more about the person
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: than the fact that they just kind of put a
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: suit on.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: That seems like a crutch. Like when you cook. I'm cooking.
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: I tell people all the time I very rarely order
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: steak out because it's such a crutch because anybody can
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: cook a steak right just with a little bit of practice.
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: It doesn't take any time or anything or just put
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: butter in it. That's a cheat code. I think that's
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: like the suit almost seems like a mask.
- 1:37:17Speaker 6: But remember, you even talked about someone. I can't remember
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: if it was Warren Buffett or one of the big
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: financial honchos during a lunch interview. You wouldn't get the
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: job if you salted your food before you tasted it.
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: What?
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: Yeah, you brought us that story.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't remember that.
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: Yeah, if they put salt on their food before they
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: even tasted it, they knew they wouldn't hire it. Because
- 1:37:40Speaker 3: it says something about how the person thinks.
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: And makes decisions and choices.
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: It's not just the level of education or the job skills.
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: It's how the person thinks and how that will relate
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: to how they interact with people. Are there people in
- 1:37:54Speaker 3: the job? To me, and I appreciate that, still does
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: not explain the difference between the water bottle and the
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: cup of coffee and how you say that it's completely different.
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: It's the same thing. You talk about bringing in a prop.
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: What's more proppy than your Stanley or your Yeti? There's
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: no way to explain that logic. That is patently illogical.
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: How about the more eco-friendly thing?
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: You know, they're drinking water out of a reusable bottle
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: instead of buying, you know, an overpriced coffee in a
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: plastic cup.
- 1:38:22Speaker 2: I mean, I guess. Do interviewers look at it?
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: If it's a job about sales, that comes into play?
- 1:38:28Speaker 3: If it's a five-minute interaction, every minute is a cosmos
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: of possible overthought and wonder.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: And my question is that, like, what blew my mind
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: about talking to you about this was that, hypothetically speaking, guy,
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: tie-dye shirt, it's got Cookie Monster on it, same skill set,
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: he's got flip-flops, going after the same job all over for,
- 1:38:49Speaker 3: you know, cybersecurity. The guy shows up, same skill set,
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: 20 years, same resume. Who are you choosing? Well, I'm
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: going to choose the person that interviews the best. That's
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: the thing I don't understand.
- 1:39:01Speaker 2: It's hypothetical.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: It's the same interview. They say word for word verbatim. Well,
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: that doesn't make any sense then because you're not giving
- 1:39:08Speaker 3: me anything that separates them for their actual ability.
- 1:39:12Speaker 2: It sure does. The fact that the guy can put
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: on a suit doesn't make him more able to do
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: the job.
- 1:39:17Speaker 6: It shows him maybe more willing to go the extra
- 1:39:20Speaker 6: mile because he wants the job that much that he
- 1:39:23Speaker 6: wants his first impression to be his best impression.
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: It shows that he can play a game. Historically.
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: Which is what work is.
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: Which is caring.
- 1:39:30Speaker 22: Yeah.
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: No, maybe. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:31Speaker 6: It's totally a game.
- 1:39:32Speaker 2: No, it's... It's skill and talent and able. That's what
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: it is. It's ability. There is, but it's not only. No,
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: I didn't say it was only that.
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: But then all of a sudden, let's say you have
- 1:39:43Speaker 3: 10 people that have that same talent, that same skill,
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: that same.
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: Ability, right? Now you're looking for variables other than those
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: couple of things.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: And that's what I think when you have a conversation
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: with somebody, you can draw out those personality traits that
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: you think are going to be applicable to that job
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: or not. You can have people with the exact same
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: skill set for the talent for the job, but if
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: the person gels with the office well, which we've learned,
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: the ability to get along with everybody in the office
- 1:40:12Speaker 3: is such a positive. I can't imagine a cup of
- 1:40:14Speaker 3: coffee is going to separate that skill set than a suit.
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:40:19Speaker 3: I can't imagine anybody in the interviewing process or in
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: that position would look at somebody and go, well, you
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: have a suit on.
- 1:40:26Speaker 2: So it's automatic now. I can't even consider the other guy.
- 1:40:30Speaker 6: But it's a win in that column.
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. All right, 407-916-1041. Text us, 77031. Load them up.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: It's time for Pick the Porn.

- 1:40:46Speaker 2: Jimmy's nickname in high school. Number four, a liberal amount
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: of Jack Daniel's bacon.
- 1:40:52Speaker 24: Jack, liberal. Number three, a slice of sweet, sensual Swiss
- 1:40:58Speaker 24: cheese for Debra. Number two, some freshly squeezed raw sauce.
- 1:41:03Speaker 24: And the number one ingredient, Shannon Burke's crumpled prison chips.
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: Play my outro. Oh, God almighty.
- 1:41:10Speaker 20: I love it.
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: Come cook it for us. I love that.

- 1:42:44Speaker 3: All right, Josh, it's Friday, and of course that means
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: it's time for another round of Pick the Porn. Here
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: are three actual adult film titles and one lie that
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: rents by the hour.
- 1:42:55Speaker 9: Nasty.
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: Buddy, you've got to find the fakie here. Which one
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: of these is not a real adult film title? Number one,
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: Frankie D. Wanky, Private's Investigator. Number two, Rub My Magic Lamp.
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: Number three, Loading In. Or lastly, Double Part. Which of
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: those is not an actual adult film title?
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: Oh, my.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: Let's go with number two.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: No, Rub My Magic Lamp is an actual adult film title.
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: What's the cover like on that one?
- 1:43:33Speaker 7: It's just, it.
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: Feels illegal, I'm going to be honest with you. You
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: just don't feel like Indian women do that kind of stuff,
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: but they do.
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: They really do. I thought it was like an Aladdin thing. No, no, no.
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: It's a whole new world spelled without the W. All right.
- 1:43:49Speaker 13: Dude.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: What? Two, three, four, five now. Let's go two. Two
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: is Matt R. Matt, how you doing, buddy?
- 1:43:58Speaker 19: Pretty good.
- 1:43:58Speaker 5: How are you?
- 1:43:59Speaker 2: Doing good, buddy. We're playing a little pick the porn here.
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: Which one of these is not an adult film title?
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: Number one, Frankie D. Wanky. Private's Investigator.
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: The longest title. Number two, Loading In. Or lastly, Double Part.
- 1:44:15Speaker 15: Oh.
- 1:44:17Speaker 6: No loading in.
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: No, that's absolutely true. Loading in. That's self-explanatory.
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I was going to say, no description necessary.
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: Cannot describe it. Don't want to describe it. Don't want
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: to see it again. Don't want to talk about it.
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: All right, Deb, three, four, or five?
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: Let's go four.
- 1:44:33Speaker 2: Four, that sounds good. That is our friend Alex. Alex,
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: how you doing?
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: I'm pretty good, and I'm an expert at this kind
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: of thing.
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: All right, very nice. All right. It sounds like it.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie. All right, here we go.
- 1:44:45Speaker 2: You got a 50-50 shot here, big dog.
- 1:44:47Speaker 7: Here we go.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Number one, Frankie D.
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: Wanky, private investigator, or lastly, double part.
- 1:44:55Speaker 15: Man, there is no way Frankie D.
- 1:44:57Speaker 25: Wanky.
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: You're right.
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: There is no way you're a winner, buddy. That's fake.
- 1:45:01Speaker 12: Yay!
- 1:45:01Speaker 2: I'm going to put you on hold. That is the fakey.
- 1:45:04Speaker 2: Good job. Frankie D. Wanky, private investigator, is not an actual.
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: That was fun to make up, though.
- 1:45:09Speaker 6: I was going to say, you have an extra creative
- 1:45:12Speaker 6: morning today.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: Well, honestly, I saw one that was similar to that.
- 1:45:16Speaker 3: They did a Frankie D. joke, but it definitely wasn't Wanky.
- 1:45:20Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: And then I just kind of built it off that.
- 1:45:23Speaker 2: I thought it was kind of cool.
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: But Double Parked is an actual one.
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: That's a tough one to watch.
- 1:45:28Speaker 3: Smokin' Mocha and Chicks and Salsa were the ones that
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: did not make the list.
- 1:45:34Speaker 2: There we go.
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: All right, 407. 916-1041, text 77031. Ross, got some thoughts
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: worth talking about? Dude, I am calling it right now.
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: If you like me, this segment's for you. If you
- 1:45:44Speaker 3: don't like me, this segment's really for you. I tried
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: to entertain both mouths on this one today, Jim. I'm
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: going for it. I'm calling it.
- 1:45:53Speaker 2: I think it might be a best of.
- 1:45:54Speaker 24: Oh, really?
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: Yeah, because something happened that I really didn't like, and
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: whenever that happens, people tend to laugh.
- 1:45:59Speaker 2: All right, very good.
- 1:46:01Speaker 3: I had someone come over to my house that made me...
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: uh look at my son uh and just my whole
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: family and be like we're good right oh really like
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: we're good right.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: All right yeah we'll do that next oh.
- 1:46:16Speaker 28: Hey how's it ohana after a scourging ride to orlando
- 1:46:20Speaker 28: airport this morning with my wife behind the wheel we
- 1:46:23Speaker 28: are currently sitting on the shores of lake st claire
- 1:46:27Speaker 28: in michigan My brother-in-law and sister have a home right
- 1:46:30Speaker 28: on the lake here.
- 1:46:31Speaker 2: We have a 30-foot regal we're probably.
- 1:46:33Speaker 28: Going to be taking out tomorrow.
- 1:46:34Speaker 5: Beautiful.
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:46:36Speaker 8: They got recreational up here.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: I made my first trip to a dispensary today.
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: It's insane, man.
- 1:46:41Speaker 8: This place is unreal.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: We love you. Aloha. Aloha. I've got a buddy who
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: lives in Michigan that says it's amazing up there.
- 1:46:51Speaker 6: Oh, it's beautiful.
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: All right, welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. We're
- 1:46:55Speaker 3: already at 104.1. He says his winners are a bitch, though.
- 1:46:58Speaker 3: Is his name Chuck?
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: His name is not Chuck.
- 1:47:00Speaker 8: Oh, okay.
- 1:47:00Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:47:02Speaker 20: I'm Jim.
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: There's Deb. Hello. Jack is here as well. That one
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: threw me for a loop.
- 1:47:06Speaker 3: We have a listener called Michigan Chuck who reaches out
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: every day.
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: No, this is the guy who owns Rebath.
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: Ah.
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. Dave, he got a place up there. He
- 1:47:16Speaker 2: bought on a lake up there and rebuilt it.
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: It took him like four, five, six years going back
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: and forth to rebuild it, and it's gorgeous.
- 1:47:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:47:22Speaker 2: He loves it up there. Ross, let's get some thoughts,
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: big dog. It's weird. Moe DeWitt. It's funny. Injured on
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: the go.
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: Sometimes.
- 1:47:31Speaker 2: Just call Moe. It's Ross. Spelled like sauce. Just call Moe.
- 1:47:37Speaker 2: It's RossThoughts.com. That's right.
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Today's Ross Thoughts is brought to you by Orlando, Central Florida,
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: Florida expert, law expert, personal injury attorney, Moe DeWitt.
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: Injured on the go? Just call Moe. Even if it's
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: a slip and fall? Just call Moe. If you're looking
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: for a fun conversation. Just call Moe. Just call Moe.
- 1:47:56Speaker 15: Right.
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: We're going to find out where the best chicken parm
- 1:47:57Speaker 2: in Orlando is. Definitely call Moe. My man's got a
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: thing for chicken parm.
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: Well, I also might need to call Moe to see
- 1:48:04Speaker 3: if it's against the law if someone breaks, like, your heart.
- 1:48:09Speaker 7: Whoa.
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: Or hurts your feelings.
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: Because, and I got to be a little cautious here
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: of what I'm about to share is.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: Did you see? permission for this statement? Not once. I
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: don't care.
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: I'll burn it all to the ground right here, right now.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: You're a rebel. This might have consequences. Take coffee to
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: an interview. Turn it up.
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: I'm trying to be a better adult. I'm trying to
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: take care of my house. What does that mean? That
- 1:48:34Speaker 3: means you've got to spend so much money to fix everything.
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: They're expensive, buddy. They can be. They can be.
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: And I don't want to say it out loud. I'm
- 1:48:45Speaker 3: just going to tell you what it rhymes with.
- 1:48:48Speaker 23: All right.
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: Boof.
- 1:48:49Speaker 15: Roof.
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: Roof.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: Roof is the answer. I should have chose a different
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: word to rhyme with.
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: That's too easy. Ross is so much smarter than that.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: He would not make it like that. Yeah, I didn't
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: mean to choose Boof. But if you don't know what
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: Boof means, that's worth a fun Google.
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: Thank you, Jack. Jack gets it.
- 1:49:12Speaker 11: So.
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: I am trying, and I realize that you got to
- 1:49:16Speaker 2: get multiple quotes, right? Yes, you do. So I already
- 1:49:19Speaker 2: had one guy, a roofer, come over. And you have
- 1:49:22Speaker 2: a different kind of roof, too. Yeah, it's back when
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: racism was normal. You don't have a shingle roof. Yeah.
- 1:49:29Speaker 2: You have a torch roof, right? It is not a
- 1:49:32Speaker 2: shingle roof.
- 1:49:33Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: It is a flat roof. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: also got, it just needs replacing.
- 1:49:38Speaker 12: Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: So I'm trying to be a good adult so you
- 1:49:39Speaker 3: get multiple quotes. The first roofer, my phone call. I
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: make the phone call. Roofer comes over, tells me, yep,
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: you're right. Need a new roof. I'll send you the
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: estimate over. Sends me the estimate. This guy, roofer guy.
- 1:49:54Speaker 3: Looks good. He's got construction shoes on. We've been talking
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: about interviews. This is somewhat of an interview.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: It is an interview, right? This guy shows up. He's
- 1:50:04Speaker 2: looking like he knows what a hard day of work
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: looks like. Roofs are expensive.
- 1:50:08Speaker 3: This is definitely an interview. Maybe he's like 50 years old.
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: He shows up in a pretty nice car as well,
- 1:50:14Speaker 3: but you can tell he works in that car. I
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: show the quote to my wife. I guess I can
- 1:50:21Speaker 3: share the number, right?
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: Is that okay? It's up to you, buddy.
- 1:50:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: So the first quote, about 14 Gs. Okay.
- 1:50:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: All right?
- 1:50:30Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: I show that quote to my wife. My wife goes, okay,
- 1:50:35Speaker 2: that's cool. I'm going to call some people. I go,
- 1:50:39Speaker 2: but I already got the quote. She goes, well, you
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: got to get multiple quotes when it comes to this.
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: You do.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: It's a good way to do it.
- 1:50:45Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: This is kind of fresh news for me about the
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: whole multiple quote thing.
- 1:50:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: I then wait a couple of days, and then yesterday
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: my wife looks at me and goes, hey, my roof
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: guy is coming over.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: For a quote. I go, where did you hear about
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: this roof guy? She goes, I called my friend. I go,
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: who's your friend? She goes, my friend, my friend Lindsey. Lindsey.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: And I go, okay, wait, how do you know Lindsey?
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: She goes, this is real estate, my real estate buddy. Okay,
- 1:51:10Speaker 2: right on, yeah, yeah.
- 1:51:10Speaker 14: Right?
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: And that's immediately my first red flag. Because I'm thinking,
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: I remember Lindsay. Lindsay's awesome. Very cool. She's a fun sprite.
- 1:51:20Speaker 2: Okay, like this. But it's also not going to bring
- 1:51:22Speaker 2: the same energy as my roofer. Why is that? I
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: can just, I already know.
- 1:51:26Speaker 3: Oh, you get the vibe from your roofer. You don't
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: think the one that she's recommending is going to have
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: that same vibe.
- 1:51:31Speaker 7: Right?
- 1:51:32Speaker 2: My roofer, probably maybe 50 years old. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:51:36Speaker 8: Right?
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: He's got a good life. He's established.
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Knock, knock, knock. My dog starts to bark.
- 1:51:43Speaker 3: I go, who's that? She goes, it's my roofer. I
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: look out my window. I see the shiniest truck with
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: every dudette possible. Labeled perfectly, washed. This looked like the
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: bad guy in Twister's car.
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: All right. This thing's got everything intact. And it's a
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: very nice truck. And I open up the door and
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: this guy goes, hi. Yeah, I'm looking for Olivia. And
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: then I'm not going to lie. The guy who walks
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: into my home. By far. This is going to get weird.
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: We're going to take a little bit of a gay turn.
- 1:52:15Speaker 3: The most attractive guy. Oh, a handsome dude, huh? No,
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: don't disrespect him like that. Oh, handsome's not enough. That's disrespectful.
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: Dude was like, hot.
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: My knees buckled. Okay, your knees buckled. I look at Olivia,
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: and she's not doing well.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: She's trying everything she can not to make eye contact? Dude,
- 1:52:33Speaker 3: I'm pre-toothbrushed in pajamas.
- 1:52:38Speaker 15: Oh, okay.
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: Oh, my wife.
- 1:52:42Speaker 7: My wife.
- 1:52:42Speaker 3: This guy's in skinny Levi's tucked in. Dude, my wife
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: knew something was up. She knew someone pretty was coming over.
- 1:52:50Speaker 3: Because I look over at her. I'm like, she was
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: in pajamas. That's a complete Lululemon single outfit. Matching top
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: and bottom.
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: Now she's in stretch pants. Oh, the yoga stuff. Now
- 1:53:02Speaker 2: she's showcasing. This guy is jacked.
- 1:53:06Speaker 23: Yeah.
- 1:53:06Speaker 15: Yeah, dude.
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: He's straight.
- 1:53:08Speaker 3: He's Hulk smashing my heart. He's got small, like little
- 1:53:12Speaker 3: chubby shorts. He's obviously doing squats.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: He's in shorts. He's in shorts. He's in shorts. Does
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: he have coffee? Because, dude.
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: He didn't want it to take away from the view.
- 1:53:24Speaker 2: He brought two.
- 1:53:24Speaker 3: One for him, one for Olivia. How's this guy's, how
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: old's this guy? Oh, in his peak. Oh, he's like 34?
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: Prime. 35? Younger than you?
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: I legit, this, for the first time in my life,
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: I've never looked at another man in proximity of my
- 1:53:40Speaker 3: wife and thought.
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: Like, we might be in trouble here, Ross. I mean,
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: we're charming and funny, but. Yeah, but those are pecs.
- 1:53:48Speaker 24: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: Toes are bis and triceps.
- 1:53:52Speaker 13: Uh-huh.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: All right, I look like a damn meth-head scarecrow next
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: to this guy.
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: Did she have a hard time, like, you know, making
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: eye contact? Was she shy? Was she, like, putting.
- 1:54:00Speaker 6: Did she giggle and flip her hair?
- 1:54:02Speaker 2: Is she playing with her hair? Dude, all of the
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: hair flipping and playing.
- 1:54:06Speaker 15: Oh.
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: And I started playing with my hair.
- 1:54:08Speaker 20: That was....
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: I am dead-ass serious. One of, if not the three.
- 1:54:17Speaker 2: They're both over there like, oh, my God.
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: I'm comfortable with my sexuality. That's why we're talking about
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: this publicly. If I wasn't comfortable getting ahead of this
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: texting service, I would take this to the grave. Okay,
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: so before any of you little muskrats get an idea
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: sending a text about judging my sexuality. Did you tell,
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: did he have a ring on? Dude, get ready for this, right?
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: So he's now in my living room. I'm basically front
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: scratching and dirty PJs. She's in a yoga outfit. He's
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: in these nut hugger shorts that like ride and just
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: grab onto his perfectly tan thighs.
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: Wow. We know you don't have that. I don't have
- 1:55:01Speaker 2: that at all, dude.
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: I got these 2% jugs for legs.
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: You're walking on straight cheese sticks. It's not good.
- 1:55:09Speaker 6: She shakes his hand. How are you doing?
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: How long does that handshake take? Not very long. It
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: doesn't linger?
- 1:55:16Speaker 6: Does she introduce you as her husband?
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:55:19Speaker 6: Okay, that's a good sign.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: Big positive. Needed that. Did she say, my first husband?
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: Or for now? My current husband. This is my before.
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: My current. Say hi before.
- 1:55:32Speaker 6: This is my after.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: That's you.
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: Hi, my name's Olivia. So did she say that she
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: was fulfilling a wish?
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: He shakes the hand of my wife, and I don't
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: know why, but now I get a little nervous going like, oh, God,
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: it's my turn. To shake his hand? Yeah.
- 1:55:53Speaker 6: Did you extra man it up?
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: Oh, hold on.
- 1:55:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: Firm grip.
- 1:55:56Speaker 3: You go right in. You got to deepen the web, dude.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: You got to get that thumb deep in the web.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: Deep in the web. I'm thinking all of that, dude.
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: I'm already about to press a little firmly with the
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: thumb on top of the roof of the hand.
- 1:56:06Speaker 2: You know what I'm talking about?
- 1:56:06Speaker 23: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:56:07Speaker 2: You get a little bone on thumb action and be like,
- 1:56:09Speaker 2: I'm your daddy. You know? Get one of those. I
- 1:56:12Speaker 2: just turn you right over. No problem whatsoever. If I'm lying.
- 1:56:15Speaker 2: Did you let go, by the way?
- 1:56:17Speaker 3: Check this out. It gets worst case scenario. I put
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: my hand into his hand. It completely disappears.
- 1:56:24Speaker 2: So he's a boss. Is he tall as you?
- 1:56:27Speaker 15: Brother.
- 1:56:28Speaker 28: Taller.
- 1:56:29Speaker 9: Is he really?
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: Taller, broader, braver, smarter.
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: This guy took the damn Captain America serum right before
- 1:56:38Speaker 3: showing up to my house to talk roof.
- 1:56:40Speaker 6: You know that realtor's office was like, you know there's
- 1:56:43Speaker 6: only one roofer to call.
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: I shake his hand.
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: My hand just disappears in his Hulk Hogan of a mitt.
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: And to the point where I, while shaking his hand,
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: look at Olivia.
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: And there's an awkward moment to the point where I
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: think he goes, oh, I think he's uncomfortable with my looks. Oh, really?
- 1:57:06Speaker 2: He must have thought something.
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: He couldn't figure you two out is what you're saying.
- 1:57:11Speaker 2: Yeah, because now I'm awkwardly like Steve Nash, no look,
- 1:57:16Speaker 2: handshaking and looking at my wife. Right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: You can't give a no eye contact handshake. Now I'm
- 1:57:22Speaker 2: the beta. I'm the deer. I'm the bottom.
- 1:57:24Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: Wow, that was fast. That was so fast. You should
- 1:57:29Speaker 2: have been there.
- 1:57:30Speaker 3: You gave in quickly. It was so fast. Somebody said earlier,
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: I waved the white flag quick.
- 1:57:34Speaker 2: And then the worst part, oh, man, I embarrassed myself
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: so much. You ruined this, man.
- 1:57:43Speaker 3: What was his voice like? Was it very deep and resonant?
- 1:57:46Speaker 3: Everything about him was like brawny. Like the brawny man.
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: It was soft, soothing, but still warm and comforting, but
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: still aggressive and protective.
- 1:57:56Speaker 2: Blonde hair, black hair, brown hair, mustache. Black hair, Italian,
- 1:58:00Speaker 2: but didn't rock the horn. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:58:03Speaker 6: Well, you don't know that.
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: Maybe he was like Greek-Italian. He looked like he loved
- 1:58:07Speaker 2: feta and olives. Okay, very good. Swarthy. The most embarrassing
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: moment is because... It gets worse?
- 1:58:15Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: Because everyone knows. All the audience is in. I'm not
- 1:58:19Speaker 3: the manliest of men.
- 1:58:20Speaker 2: All right? I'm not.
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: I know I'll work hard, but if you want me
- 1:58:24Speaker 3: to tell you what the name of the tool is
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: that I'm using, dude, I'm going to call it Land Scissors.
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: So I'll sweat for you, but I ain't going to
- 1:58:34Speaker 2: obtain this knowledge for too long.
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: I can be here for a minute, sir, but I
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: got to go dig a hole with my big spoon.
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: So all of a sudden, he goes, all right, I'm
- 1:58:44Speaker 3: going to go up on the roof. And now he
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: leaves the house. And now you're hoping the roof holds him.
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: Right? I hear him Santa Claus-ing above us.
- 1:58:52Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: And at that moment, I'm looking at my wife going,
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: are you kidding me? You brought paper towel brawny guy here?
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: This guy, you brought... You brought putty in? Oh, my God.
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: And we're making jokes and we're having a fun time
- 1:59:06Speaker 3: about just how, like, awkwardly beautiful this guy is. Did
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: she also agree he was... yeah like who said it
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: first uh i think we both looked at that's when
- 1:59:15Speaker 3: we looked at each other and laughed we kind of
- 1:59:17Speaker 3: like what the.
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: Hell yeah who brought zeus yeah right it's adonis roofing
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: so he's walking on the.
- 1:59:25Speaker 6: Roof you can probably hear everything.
- 1:59:27Speaker 3: Everything or hopefully not i don't know the roof it's
- 1:59:31Speaker 3: holding it still works it can protect some sound guy
- 1:59:35Speaker 3: gets off the roof he comes back and goes all
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: right i took some photos and uh right here this
- 1:59:40Speaker 3: photo you're not supposed to have what you have here.
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: Whoever flipped this house years ago did not do this correctly,
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: and he brings up this vent, and he goes, we
- 1:59:50Speaker 3: can gooseneck that for you. I go, yeah, I love goosenecking.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: All of a sudden, I'm starting to puff out my
- 1:59:59Speaker 3: chest into foreign territory.
- 2:00:00Speaker 2: You're showcasing. You need this guy to know. I don't
- 2:00:03Speaker 2: know the vocab. And he's like, yeah, the goose egg
- 2:00:09Speaker 2: is going to prevent any future water from getting in there.
- 2:00:13Speaker 3: And then my wife asks a question, and then he
- 2:00:16Speaker 3: answers it. And then my wife asks another question, and
- 2:00:19Speaker 3: then he answers it.
- 2:00:21Speaker 2: And I'm just... Why myself in the corner being silent?
- 2:00:24Speaker 2: And I'm like, I can't have any more of that.
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: Were any of the questions about roofing? What were you
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: doing next week? So are you single?
- 2:00:34Speaker 3: I'm just awkwardly in the corner as this smoking hot
- 2:00:37Speaker 3: guy is talking roofs with my smoking hot wife.
- 2:00:40Speaker 2: You're roof cooking. Yeah, I'm roof cooking. And then I'm
- 2:00:44Speaker 2: petting my dog. My son turns the corner, runs up
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: with the video game controller, and gives it to him.
- 2:00:50Speaker 2: And I'm like, So now I interject. I'm like, I
- 2:00:55Speaker 2: can't just watch this conversation any longer. So I have
- 2:00:58Speaker 2: to force a question. And I go, so with the
- 2:01:02Speaker 2: gooseneck the way it is right now. No, please.
- 2:01:06Speaker 20: No, man.
- 2:01:07Speaker 6: There is no gooseneck.
- 2:01:08Speaker 2: I go with the gooseneck dilemma.
- 2:01:10Speaker 3: We got to sign this accordion, of course. Yeah, we
- 2:01:13Speaker 3: need the Aflac vent extended. And the Wu-Tang dynasty.
- 2:01:19Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 2:01:21Speaker 2: Does that mean, like, a lot of dirt gets in there?
- 2:01:25Speaker 2: That was my question. On the roof.
- 2:01:28Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 2:01:28Speaker 29: Dirt.
- 2:01:29Speaker 5: Dirt.
- 2:01:30Speaker 2: On the roof. I had to be part of this conversation.
- 2:01:33Speaker 12: Right, right.
- 2:01:33Speaker 3: Did your wife and the handsome dude turn and look
- 2:01:36Speaker 3: at you both like you're an idiot?
- 2:01:39Speaker 8: Yes!
- 2:01:40Speaker 20: No!
- 2:01:43Speaker 2: And then that's actually the moment when my son walked
- 2:01:46Speaker 2: up to him and was like, you can be dad now.
- 2:01:48Speaker 2: And then....
- 2:01:51Speaker 3: This guy gives me my lifeline. He goes, oh, I
- 2:01:56Speaker 3: didn't even know you had one. I just had my
- 2:01:59Speaker 3: second last month. My wife's back at home, you know,
- 2:02:03Speaker 3: taking care of both. And I went, thank God. But
- 2:02:07Speaker 3: we just divorced.
- 2:02:08Speaker 6: But He sure waited a long time.
- 2:02:12Speaker 23: Wow.
- 2:02:12Speaker 2: Unreal day. That guy was awesome. Both quotes are coming in.
- 2:02:16Speaker 2: I have the quotes. I'm being on top of it.
- 2:02:19Speaker 3: I hope he's listening, and I hope he's having fun.
- 2:02:21Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 2:02:22Speaker 6: He's in the bank.
- 2:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he is in the bank.
- 2:02:24Speaker 6: Oh, he's in the bank.
- 2:02:25Speaker 2: You know that, right? Hey, dude, it's a mutual. That's
- 2:02:27Speaker 2: the only bank account we share, then. Those are your
- 2:02:31Speaker 2: Ross thoughts. I'm out. Peace.
- 2:02:34Speaker 13: All right.
- 2:02:35Speaker 3: 407-916-1041.
- 2:02:35Speaker 2: Text us at 77. All right. Tip one out for
- 2:02:41Speaker 2: shared banks. So, Ross, let me guess.
- 2:02:44Speaker 18: The person that showed up at the house made you
- 2:02:47Speaker 18: kind of wonder if you and your family were all good?
- 2:02:51Speaker 2: Was it Frankie D. Wanky? Just curious. You've got to
- 2:02:56Speaker 2: say Ruth.
- 2:02:56Speaker 8: Ask him for a friend.
- 2:02:58Speaker 18: Also, on a food service, food safety note, Hey, if
- 2:03:04Speaker 18: anybody ends up making the JCS burger, there's one thing
- 2:03:07Speaker 18: you don't have to worry about is finding a hair
- 2:03:09Speaker 18: on that Slim Jim patty.
- 2:03:12Speaker 22: Welcome to Forward Smash. Your taste buds will go on
- 2:03:16Speaker 22: a journey with a buttery toasted bun. Charred beef and
- 2:03:20Speaker 22: smoky bacon will be complemented by the caramelized onions. The
- 2:03:24Speaker 22: barrel-aged sauce offers notes of fruit with a creamy finish.
- 2:03:28Speaker 22: A little pepper jack cheese is like the rye spice
- 2:03:30Speaker 22: you deserve, while the pickles are bright and tangy.
- 2:03:34Speaker 9: This burger is.
- 2:03:34Speaker 22: Complex yet balanced and dangerously easy to finish. Now, on
- 2:03:39Speaker 22: to the next pour.
- 2:03:42Speaker 2: Forward smash. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I like that.
- 2:03:44Speaker 7: Pretty cool.
- 2:03:45Speaker 2: I like that. All right, we got more talk back there.
- 2:03:47Speaker 17: Hey, Colbert Show. I sent Ross an Instagram message, and
- 2:03:51Speaker 17: I text you guys.
- 2:03:52Speaker 2: Please tell him about this. My Safe Florida program.
- 2:03:58Speaker 17: They will give you up to $ 10, 000 back if you
- 2:04:01Speaker 17: do a roof improvement, windows, stuff like that. You call
- 2:04:04Speaker 17: them or you go on the website. You check it out.
- 2:04:08Speaker 17: It's very in-depth, but it's simple. If I could do it,
- 2:04:12Speaker 17: Ross could do it. And free $ 10, 000, what's better?
- 2:04:16Speaker 2: Somebody texted in about that a little bit earlier, by
- 2:04:18Speaker 2: the way. That's my favorite line. If I could do it,
- 2:04:20Speaker 2: Ross could do it. Challenge.
- 2:04:26Speaker 3: And then we had a bunch of people texting about
- 2:04:29Speaker 3: the coffee conversation where you bring coffee onto a job interview.
- 2:04:39Speaker 23: Jimmy, my brother, sometimes you infuriate me. I love you,
- 2:04:43Speaker 23: but sometimes you infuriate me. The corporate world nowadays is
- 2:04:47Speaker 23: all about playing the game. That's all there is, playing
- 2:04:50Speaker 23: the game.
- 2:04:51Speaker 24: You think that it has to do with skill and
- 2:04:54Speaker 24: knowledge and productivity and all of that kind of stuff.
- 2:04:57Speaker 7: That's spoken like someone who's been in the.
- 2:04:58Speaker 9: Same job for 34 years. It's all about.
- 2:05:01Speaker 2: Playing the game. Why do I make you mad, though?
- 2:05:06Speaker 6: Because you're not playing the game, Jimmy.
- 2:05:08Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:05:09Speaker 6: Damn it.
- 2:05:10Speaker 9: What if I brought him a cup of coffee, too?
- 2:05:12Speaker 2: Or her?
- 2:05:16Speaker 6: Ask him, sir.
- 2:05:17Speaker 12: Okay, let's see how Jimmy's logic tracks. As far as
- 2:05:20Speaker 12: you're concerned, as long as you have the experience and
- 2:05:24Speaker 12: the body of work to go along with it, I
- 2:05:26Speaker 12: should be able to show up to an interview in
- 2:05:28Speaker 12: pajama pants.
- 2:05:30Speaker 6: Maybe he'll do that tomorrow.
- 2:05:31Speaker 2: I did not say that.
- 2:05:33Speaker 29: What it do, Colbert Crew. Rob here from Florida's Turnpike,
- 2:05:35Speaker 29: as per usual. So the thing about the coffee cup
- 2:05:39Speaker 29: in the job interview, it's not so much that it's
- 2:05:43Speaker 29: a prop. It's what it means about the mentality of
- 2:05:47Speaker 29: the interviewee, the person coming in. They either are taking
- 2:05:50Speaker 29: it seriously, they want to come, they want that job,
- 2:05:52Speaker 29: or it's just another thing they had to do.
- 2:05:54Speaker 9: They got the errands.
- 2:05:55Speaker 24: Oh, I had to go pick up my cleaning.
- 2:05:58Speaker 2: I had to go, let me grab some Starbucks. I'm
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: going to swing through and do this interview.
- 2:06:03Speaker 8: Here's a twist.
- 2:06:04Speaker 11: What if the interviewee walked in with two coffees, one
- 2:06:10Speaker 11: for him or herself, the other for the interviewer, but
- 2:06:16Speaker 11: knows what the interviewer likes? So I said, here's a
- 2:06:20Speaker 11: coffee for you.
- 2:06:21Speaker 7: I figured out what you like.
- 2:06:24Speaker 9: It's just like you like it.
- 2:06:26Speaker 22: Weird.
- 2:06:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a little stalker-esque. Yeah, a little last kissy.
- 2:06:31Speaker 2: I agree with that. Welcome back. I'm Jim. Deb, Jack,
- 2:06:33Speaker 2: and Ross are here as well. I followed you home
- 2:06:36Speaker 2: last week, and I noticed that you like a grande. Exactly.
- 2:06:40Speaker 3: I was just going through your trash, and I discovered
- 2:06:43Speaker 3: a couple cups that I read the label on, and
- 2:06:46Speaker 3: I figured it out.
- 2:06:47Speaker 6: I took it in for DNA testing, and it broke
- 2:06:49Speaker 6: down the chemical analysis.
- 2:06:51Speaker 2: Right. You have a missing daughter. You're doing sketches this weekend.
- 2:06:57Speaker 13: I am, man.
- 2:06:58Speaker 2: It's happening. I have a big old day tomorrow.
- 2:07:00Speaker 3: It's Suds, Pups, and Pints in Mount Thorough from 3
- 2:07:03Speaker 3: to 6, and then I'm booking it over to Daytona
- 2:07:05Speaker 3: for Christy B., the comedy club. We're doing sketches, and
- 2:07:10Speaker 3: this is the first time we're doing the sketch show
- 2:07:12Speaker 3: in a comedy club to kind of see if those
- 2:07:15Speaker 3: two markets would.
- 2:07:17Speaker 2: you know, cross. So you can take it.
- 2:07:19Speaker 3: You can get tickets at Ross comedy.com. It's the best
- 2:07:21Speaker 3: thing I think I have made. That's awesome, man. So again,
- 2:07:24Speaker 3: we'll be out there. That's after such pups. Cause we'll
- 2:07:26Speaker 3: be in downtown mountain door tomorrow, starting at three o'clock
- 2:07:29Speaker 3: for such pups and pints. It's the fourth annual. Uh,
- 2:07:32Speaker 3: and we really hope to see a nice crowd out there. No,
- 2:07:34Speaker 3: some of our callers that you hear on the air
- 2:07:36Speaker 3: all the time, big T T bag, uh, and many others.
- 2:07:39Speaker 3: I think evil eyes coming out as well.
- 2:07:40Speaker 4: Yep.
- 2:07:41Speaker 2: So we'll hear, uh, we'll hear the cartoon possum talk
- 2:07:43Speaker 2: in real life. So it's going to be a blast, man.
- 2:07:48Speaker 3: Every year, I can't say last year because I was
- 2:07:50Speaker 3: not here last year, but every year that I've been,
- 2:07:52Speaker 3: it's been absolutely amazing. And it's gotten bigger every single year.
- 2:07:55Speaker 3: And hopefully we'll get the most people out there because
- 2:07:57Speaker 3: we are trying to raise money for the humane society.
- 2:08:00Speaker 2: Of Lake County.
- 2:08:01Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely. They are celebrating their 50th year as a
- 2:08:03Speaker 6: no-kill shelter. And again, even though they do have the
- 2:08:06Speaker 6: name Humane Society, a lot of people assume that means
- 2:08:09Speaker 6: that the National Humane Society must send them money. And
- 2:08:12Speaker 6: that's not the case. They're 100% community supported.
- 2:08:14Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 2:08:16Speaker 6: And as a small, you know, animal shelter in Umatilla,
- 2:08:19Speaker 6: they could really use the help. And this event has
- 2:08:22Speaker 6: helped them so much in the past.
- 2:08:24Speaker 2: And they're good people.
- 2:08:25Speaker 6: They are really good people.
- 2:08:26Speaker 3: When you meet Angie and CG, you are going to love,
- 2:08:29Speaker 3: and all the other crew as well, but they come
- 2:08:31Speaker 3: on in the air, you're going to love them. I mean,
- 2:08:32Speaker 3: they're impossible not to like, Angie is one of the
- 2:08:35Speaker 3: most addictive laughs out there. Getting her going is one
- 2:08:38Speaker 3: of my favorite things to do in this game. And
- 2:08:41Speaker 3: there's a lot of volunteers that help make this possible.
- 2:08:44Speaker 3: Target and there's someone else.
- 2:08:46Speaker 6: Yeah, Target and Lowe's of Mount Dora have been providing. Target,
- 2:08:49Speaker 6: in fact, has provided volunteers since the beginning of this event.
- 2:08:52Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:08:53Speaker 6: And Lowe's joined on this year as well. We've got
- 2:08:57Speaker 6: Miller's Ale House. Thank you so much, Alan, in Mount Dora.
- 2:09:00Speaker 2: Oh, awesome.
- 2:09:00Speaker 6: Yeah, he's bringing the volunteers and all of us some lunch.
- 2:09:04Speaker 3: Dude, by the way, that's a good-ass ale house out there.
- 2:09:07Speaker 6: Oh, man, and he brings such a huge spread. So
- 2:09:10Speaker 6: our volunteers, we're feeding them throughout the day.
- 2:09:12Speaker 3: Dude, my boy and I popped in there after a
- 2:09:14Speaker 3: round of golf about a month and a half ago.
- 2:09:16Speaker 3: And I said, El House good? He goes, El House
- 2:09:18Speaker 3: is perfect. And we were blown away at how good
- 2:09:21Speaker 3: it was.
- 2:09:21Speaker 6: Yeah, he does a good job managing that restaurant. A
- 2:09:24Speaker 6: lot of people. That morning, that mortgage guy, Don, once
- 2:09:27Speaker 6: again is sponsoring the big foaming beer mug.
- 2:09:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Mini Figs and Bricks is going to be there.
- 2:09:31Speaker 6: And they're going to be giving away Legos to kids.
- 2:09:34Speaker 2: Yeah, which is badass.
- 2:09:35Speaker 6: The Mount Dora Police Department and Fire Department are going
- 2:09:37Speaker 6: to be there. There's going to be a big fire truck,
- 2:09:39Speaker 6: the Bearcat, Chase from Paw Patrol. We're going to have
- 2:09:42Speaker 6: cornhole games, college football.
- 2:09:44Speaker 2: It's almost too much.
- 2:09:44Speaker 3: Yeah, Guinness sponsored the big television out there. Pawfection Dog
- 2:09:49Speaker 3: Training will be doing games with some of the dogs that...
- 2:09:52Speaker 3: Daryl will host that, and then Clausman Law, our presenting sponsor.
- 2:09:56Speaker 3: And look, Manginus and Harp, they're going to be there
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: as well. We're going to have some adult Capri Suns
- 2:10:01Speaker 3: out there.
- 2:10:01Speaker 6: Yeah, we are, thanks to Pisces Rising. And back to
- 2:10:03Speaker 6: Paw Faction Dog Training, if you heard Animal House on Wednesday,
- 2:10:07Speaker 6: Daryl mentioned that folks who come to the event and
- 2:10:10Speaker 6: visit their tent are going to get a really special
- 2:10:12Speaker 6: deal on training. So if you have a puppy or
- 2:10:14Speaker 6: a dog with some behavioral problems and you're looking for
- 2:10:17Speaker 6: a break on some training, just come to the event.
- 2:10:19Speaker 6: And if you don't have a dog, Jack has been
- 2:10:21Speaker 6: saying this, and this is such great advice, get all
- 2:10:24Speaker 6: the puppy love.
- 2:10:24Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 2:10:25Speaker 6: We'll have everything from St. Bernard's and Cane Corsos, teacup chihuahuas,
- 2:10:29Speaker 6: and everything in between.
- 2:10:31Speaker 2: Huskies, those little mini huskies that always come out. They're
- 2:10:33Speaker 2: so cute.
- 2:10:33Speaker 6: Are you bringing your little girl?
- 2:10:35Speaker 2: Don't know yet.
- 2:10:36Speaker 6: Oh, you probably don't want her to see you in
- 2:10:38Speaker 6: the dunk tank.
- 2:10:38Speaker 3: I don't know yet, because here's the thing. She will
- 2:10:41Speaker 3: not let us trim her face, right? And she doesn't
- 2:10:46Speaker 3: let us trim her front legs. So it looks like
- 2:10:49Speaker 3: she's wearing Ugg boots in the front and walking on
- 2:10:52Speaker 3: pencils in the back. And then one half of her
- 2:10:55Speaker 3: little mustache is about three inches longer than the other half.
- 2:10:57Speaker 3: She looks like Pet Sematary Dog. So I don't know
- 2:11:02Speaker 3: if I'm.
- 2:11:02Speaker 2: Going to bring her out. There is no way your
- 2:11:04Speaker 2: wife is going to let that dog out. No way.
- 2:11:06Speaker 2: We don't care. We roll her anywhere.
- 2:11:08Speaker 3: We'll take her out. Food in her beard. She's a
- 2:11:13Speaker 3: crack whore. If she was on the street, you would
- 2:11:16Speaker 3: think she had a crack problem. When Daryl Payne was in,
- 2:11:20Speaker 3: what was it, yesterday?
- 2:11:21Speaker 2: Wednesday, yeah. Wednesday, I was kind of bringing up somewhat
- 2:11:24Speaker 2: of a sad, somber....
- 2:11:27Speaker 3: Event in my life, I had a dog pass over
- 2:11:29Speaker 3: a month ago and I have another dog who now
- 2:11:32Speaker 3: is struggling to go back in the backyard because that's
- 2:11:35Speaker 3: where the dog is buried. And it is now gotten
- 2:11:39Speaker 3: to the point where it is starting to get like
- 2:11:42Speaker 3: it's still incredibly sad.
- 2:11:44Speaker 6: But it's getting comedic.
- 2:11:46Speaker 3: It's getting comedic at this point because she won't go
- 2:11:48Speaker 3: out there like there's a force field.
- 2:11:50Speaker 2: No, she'll go out there. And we looked it up.
- 2:11:53Speaker 3: The Internet is saying is that my dog has grown
- 2:11:56Speaker 3: so accustomed to the safety of knowing that another dog
- 2:12:00Speaker 3: was next to or outside with her while they are
- 2:12:04Speaker 3: at their most vulnerable pooping.
- 2:12:07Speaker 18: So.
- 2:12:08Speaker 3: This dog goes into my backyard, starts to feel the
- 2:12:12Speaker 3: urge of like, oh, I feel a little rumble.
- 2:12:15Speaker 2: Gotta go. I gotta go next to one of my
- 2:12:18Speaker 2: parents right now.
- 2:12:20Speaker 9: Oh, no.
- 2:12:21Speaker 3: So now my dog will want to use the bathroom,
- 2:12:24Speaker 3: run back into the house so she's close to one
- 2:12:27Speaker 3: of us.
- 2:12:28Speaker 2: And do it there. Right there in the kitchen.
- 2:12:30Speaker 25: Wow.
- 2:12:30Speaker 2: Right there in the living room.
- 2:12:31Speaker 23: Wow, really?
- 2:12:32Speaker 12: Aww.
- 2:12:32Speaker 3: So, it is still incredibly sad, but now when you see, like,
- 2:12:37Speaker 3: it's just this weird moment where you look to your
- 2:12:40Speaker 3: left and you're like, again?
- 2:12:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Why don't you just go out there and stand
- 2:12:44Speaker 2: in the yard so she'll do it out there next
- 2:12:45Speaker 2: to you? Would she not do that? I, not as...
- 2:12:47Speaker 2: Or you just don't want to go outside? No, I just,
- 2:12:50Speaker 2: a little bit of column A and column B, that
- 2:12:52Speaker 2: has happened. You like the poop in the house? That has, no,
- 2:12:54Speaker 2: I don't prefer it, but.
- 2:12:58Speaker 3: It is a weird scenario because I've never seen this
- 2:13:01Speaker 3: dog this not confident. But look, man, I got to
- 2:13:04Speaker 3: tell you, it doesn't even take... That's a very traumatic
- 2:13:07Speaker 3: thing because the dog had a life partner and then
- 2:13:10Speaker 3: did not have a life partner with no explanation. My
- 2:13:13Speaker 3: dog just stopped drinking water one day. That story I
- 2:13:18Speaker 3: told you guys when Daryl was here is 100% true.
- 2:13:21Speaker 3: I fill my Yeti up with water every night before
- 2:13:23Speaker 3: I go to bed.
- 2:13:24Speaker 2: She used to.
- 2:13:26Speaker 3: clamor come over there and Paul at me and everything
- 2:13:28Speaker 3: like that to get to my water. So I would
- 2:13:29Speaker 3: let her get some of my water. And, and that
- 2:13:32Speaker 3: would just kind of be, that's the thing she did
- 2:13:33Speaker 3: literally almost every night. And then one day she just
- 2:13:36Speaker 3: didn't do it. And then not only didn't do it,
- 2:13:38Speaker 3: stopped drinking water. So we have to put water in
- 2:13:41Speaker 3: her food so that when she eats her food, she's
- 2:13:44Speaker 3: actually drinking her water as well. When she gets really dehydrated,
- 2:13:48Speaker 3: she will drink a little water. We can hear her
- 2:13:49Speaker 3: doing it. But other than that, for no reason, we
- 2:13:52Speaker 3: still to this day do not know why she just
- 2:13:54Speaker 3: stopped doing it. I can have the coldest thing of
- 2:13:57Speaker 3: ice water in front of her, and she will not
- 2:13:59Speaker 3: even look at it.
- 2:14:01Speaker 2: And that's another. And you expect me to bring that
- 2:14:03Speaker 2: dog out? It's another issue with like the whole safety
- 2:14:06Speaker 2: things that I believe dogs also understand that they're vulnerable
- 2:14:10Speaker 2: when they're eating.
- 2:14:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:14:12Speaker 23: Yeah.
- 2:14:12Speaker 2: Isn't that a thing? A little bit. My dog has
- 2:14:15Speaker 2: also like she.
- 2:14:17Speaker 3: Won't eat food if it is next to where her
- 2:14:21Speaker 3: food used to be.
- 2:14:22Speaker 2: Oh, really? We've been moving the food, different water bowls.
- 2:14:27Speaker 3: It's been probably, in hindsight, not the best idea burying
- 2:14:33Speaker 3: the dog in the backyard.
- 2:14:34Speaker 2: Yeah. That's kind of where I'm going. I kind of
- 2:14:36Speaker 2: regret doing that. Exhume. Yeah.
- 2:14:41Speaker 3: What you're saying, though, is it's not because the dog
- 2:14:44Speaker 3: is buried there. It's just because there's no other dog
- 2:14:48Speaker 3: with your dog. So your dog doesn't feel safe. It's
- 2:14:51Speaker 3: not because the dog is buried there. It's because the
- 2:14:53Speaker 3: dog is missing. Does she go over to the area
- 2:14:55Speaker 3: where the dog is buried and smell and scratch and whatnot?
- 2:14:59Speaker 2: She was just over there for the first time. All right, Jack.
- 2:15:05Speaker 3: I think it was the first time I saw her
- 2:15:07Speaker 3: over there just like in the last couple of days.
- 2:15:09Speaker 2: But it's not like I'm focused on. Right, right, right.
- 2:15:11Speaker 2: I got you. Is she over there paying respect? How
- 2:15:15Speaker 2: did the handsome roofer react to the dog? Oh, man.
- 2:15:18Speaker 2: What a great question. It didn't. And what was handsome
- 2:15:21Speaker 2: roofer's first name, by the way? I forgot.
- 2:15:23Speaker 6: No, you didn't.
- 2:15:25Speaker 2: Look at your tattoo. No, it was probably like. Rivaldo
- 2:15:29Speaker 2: or something. Rivaldo. I think it was Apollo. Yeah.
- 2:15:31Speaker 9: Fabio.
- 2:15:32Speaker 13: Yeah.
- 2:15:33Speaker 2: Any of those will work. My dog hated this guy. No,
- 2:15:39Speaker 2: she didn't.
- 2:15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, my dog was like barking really, really hard.
- 2:15:42Speaker 2: So I gave. Because he knew the danger. I was
- 2:15:45Speaker 2: going to say.
- 2:15:46Speaker 6: She picked up on that. She's like, get out now.
- 2:15:49Speaker 2: And I gave the guy a dog treat to give her. Oh,
- 2:15:52Speaker 2: my God.
- 2:15:54Speaker 3: And your son?
- 2:15:54Speaker 2: What are you doing, dude? Just being a bitch. Are
- 2:15:58Speaker 2: you just sabotaging? This is a full time bitch. This
- 2:16:01Speaker 2: is my wife. Just being a three-legged table. And that's
- 2:16:05Speaker 2: not a wiener joke. I'm missing a big part of myself.
- 2:16:08Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:16:09Speaker 2: I'm not balanced. Did she talk about it a lot
- 2:16:12Speaker 2: after the fact?
- 2:16:14Speaker 6: Or worse, did she not talk about it at all?
- 2:16:17Speaker 2: Oh, really good point. Take it from a woman. Did
- 2:16:20Speaker 2: she long for it? Take it from a woman. I
- 2:16:22Speaker 2: called out.
- 2:16:23Speaker 6: Really?
- 2:16:24Speaker 2: Like if she doesn't say anything, it's worse? Oh, hell yeah. Oh,
- 2:16:28Speaker 2: it's in the bank.
- 2:16:29Speaker 3: I called out one moment after. She's already made it.
- 2:16:35Speaker 3: As soon as the guy left, I said, are we
- 2:16:38Speaker 3: going to talk about that? And then just the way
- 2:16:40Speaker 3: she laughed. She's been on the phone with Lindsay a
- 2:16:47Speaker 3: few times today.
- 2:16:48Speaker 2: This flirtatious whatever. Thank God this guy had kids. And
- 2:16:53Speaker 2: Ross was so jealous. I'll be getting in my own
- 2:16:56Speaker 2: quote later. Anyways, we're going with the 50-year-old roofers. Yeah,
- 2:17:03Speaker 2: there you go. Good job.
- 2:17:04Speaker 3: The last thing you need her to do is watching
- 2:17:07Speaker 3: that dude sling a hammer shirtless.
- 2:17:09Speaker 2: Oh, my God almighty, she'll explode. Well, she also told me,
- 2:17:13Speaker 2: she goes, I was like, that's the guy who does
- 2:17:15Speaker 2: the roofs?
- 2:17:17Speaker 3: And then she goes, I don't know, probably like some
- 2:17:19Speaker 3: of his employees. I'm like, oh, I swoon even more.
- 2:17:23Speaker 3: They're all in skin tight jeans with like suspenders, no shirt.
- 2:17:26Speaker 6: Just call the old office she used to work at
- 2:17:27Speaker 6: and speak to some of the ladies in there. So
- 2:17:29Speaker 6: what's that roofing crew like? What did they show up like?
- 2:17:32Speaker 2: That guy.
- 2:17:34Speaker 3: Last of the Mohicans. All right, 407-916-1041, Texas 77031. Deb,
- 2:17:39Speaker 3: got some news for us?
- 2:17:39Speaker 6: Yeah, Florida's Attorney General sues a construction company. State leaders
- 2:17:43Speaker 6: say they fixed Florida's insurance crisis. A new survey says, nah,
- 2:17:48Speaker 6: you didn't. And Garth Brooks brings his blame-it-all-on-my-roots to Orlando.
- 2:17:52Speaker 6: We'll talk about that next during You Heard It Here First.
- 2:17:54Speaker 2: You got it. Let's take a little break. We'll come
- 2:17:56Speaker 2: back and get Deb's news and get the hell out
- 2:17:57Speaker 2: of here on a Friday. Woo-hoo!
- 2:18:05Speaker 1: It's time for a Talkback Purge on The Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:18:10Speaker 8: What's up, guys?
- 2:18:11Speaker 19: Happy Friday. I hope you guys have lots of fun tomorrow.
- 2:18:14Speaker 19: Make lots of money. You guys are doing an awesome thing.
- 2:18:17Speaker 19: I may be able to make it out there. I'm
- 2:18:19Speaker 19: not sure yet. And if I do, I will bring
- 2:18:21Speaker 19: Commander with me. I'd love for him to have a
- 2:18:24Speaker 19: little reunion with you guys.
- 2:18:26Speaker 2: What do you think about that? Oh, love it.
- 2:18:28Speaker 8: We'll try to see what we can do.
- 2:18:29Speaker 24: All right?
- 2:18:30Speaker 2: That'd be great.
- 2:18:30Speaker 19: Well, if I don't make it, I wish you guys
- 2:18:33Speaker 19: all the fun and success that you can have.
- 2:18:35Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 2:18:35Speaker 7: All right?
- 2:18:36Speaker 6: I'm out.
- 2:18:36Speaker 2: Love you, Handy John.
- 2:18:38Speaker 4: Okay. Now, my burger is going to be just a
- 2:18:43Speaker 4: good old-fashioned burger. When I say old-fashioned, I'm talking bourbon.
- 2:18:48Speaker 2: Yes, you know it.
- 2:18:49Speaker 4: I'm talking bourbon. I'm talking some bourbon onions, some bourbon
- 2:18:53Speaker 4: barbecue sauce. We're going to make this thing... So good.
- 2:18:57Speaker 2: Bring it.
- 2:18:58Speaker 4: You just take it, and it feels like a good,
- 2:19:01Speaker 4: smoky old-fashioned.
- 2:19:03Speaker 6: I love it.
- 2:19:03Speaker 4: So this is an old-fashioned burger from me.
- 2:19:06Speaker 9: I love it.
- 2:19:06Speaker 2: What a great idea. Great signing out. Perfect. Hey, boss.
- 2:19:13Speaker 2: How's it hanging? Here for the interview. Oh, my God.
- 2:19:18Speaker 2: Don't judge a book by its cover, boss. You know
- 2:19:21Speaker 2: who I am. I'm Jim. You can't remember her last name?
- 2:19:25Speaker 15: I've been Colbert.
- 2:19:27Speaker 2: There you go.
- 2:19:27Speaker 30: Don't judge a book by its cover.
- 2:19:29Speaker 2: Oh, my God. That's pretty accurate. I'm going to take
- 2:19:31Speaker 2: my talents elsewhere. Oh, my God. Geez Louise.
- 2:19:35Speaker 24: Oh, this macchiato's fantastic.
- 2:19:39Speaker 2: Good job, buddy. I deserve it.
- 2:19:41Speaker 14: If I was going to make you a special hamburger,
- 2:19:43Speaker 14: I would do Dolly Parton's I will always love you burger.
- 2:19:47Speaker 14: And it would be two heart-shaped bison patties on Tennessee
- 2:19:52Speaker 14: toast with pickles, spicy pickles, smoked gouda cheese. You have
- 2:20:00Speaker 14: to have a thick red onion in honor of Jolene
- 2:20:05Speaker 14: and a Dolly Parton's spicy mustard remoulade sauce, I think.
- 2:20:10Speaker 11: Yum.
- 2:20:11Speaker 9: All right, all right, all right.
- 2:20:18Speaker 2: Don't you put that on me, Ricky Bobby. Metal, light
- 2:20:22Speaker 2: the candle. Flip a pancake.
- 2:20:25Speaker 15: Attaboy.
- 2:20:25Speaker 2: Go get them. And that's your purge for the week.
- 2:20:35Speaker 2: Don't you put that on me, Ricky Bobby. So good. Thanks, buddy.
- 2:20:39Speaker 2: I appreciate that very much. I could do without the fart.
- 2:20:42Speaker 2: I got to watch that movie one day. Oh, it's
- 2:20:44Speaker 2: so good. You'll love it.
- 2:20:46Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. We're already at 104.1.
- 2:20:48Speaker 3: Another reminder that we will be downtown Mount Noir tomorrow
- 2:20:51Speaker 3: for Suds, Pups, and Pints starting around 3 o'clock. We'd
- 2:20:53Speaker 3: love to see you guys out there. It's a free gig,
- 2:20:55Speaker 3: by the way. If you don't come out and spend
- 2:20:56Speaker 3: any money, we're not going to ask you to spend
- 2:20:58Speaker 3: a dime. But if you want to, we're going to
- 2:21:00Speaker 3: provide some opportunities for you to do that, whether it
- 2:21:02Speaker 3: be the dunk tank, buying a t-shirt, just a straight donation.
- 2:21:04Speaker 2: We're going to have all kinds of stuff there. You
- 2:21:06Speaker 2: can do that. But if you'd just like to come
- 2:21:07Speaker 2: out and hang with us.
- 2:21:08Speaker 6: We'd love that.
- 2:21:09Speaker 2: Meet us. Say hey. Take a pic. Whatever.
- 2:21:11Speaker 3: We'd love to meet you guys. Please come out and
- 2:21:13Speaker 3: join us. That's again tomorrow, downtown Mount Dora, 3 until
- 2:21:15Speaker 3: 6 for suds, pups, and pints.
- 2:21:18Speaker 2: Let's do You Heard It Here First.
- 2:21:21Speaker 1: It's time for You Heard It Here First on the
- 2:21:24Speaker 1: Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:21:26Speaker 6: Florida's Attorney General is going after a construction company he
- 2:21:29Speaker 6: says knocked on doors after the big hurricanes and promised
- 2:21:32Speaker 6: to fix roofs or deal with mold remediation, but then
- 2:21:35Speaker 6: did nothing. James Uthmeyer says he's filing a deceptive trade
- 2:21:39Speaker 6: lawsuit against Evolve Construction LLC and Evolve Construction and Restoration,
- 2:21:44Speaker 6: along with six of its principal executives.
- 2:21:48Speaker 30: They would receive large payments, tens of thousands of dollars.
- 2:21:52Speaker 30: We've been able to identify over a million dollars at
- 2:21:55Speaker 30: this point. from 80 different complainants, and that number is
- 2:21:58Speaker 30: only going to grow.
- 2:22:00Speaker 2: Go get them and set a tone, my man. Go
- 2:22:02Speaker 2: do it. Love it.
- 2:22:03Speaker 6: Uthmeyer says Evolve did not use licensed contractors and required
- 2:22:06Speaker 6: their customers to sign contingency agreements and assignment of benefits. 60%
- 2:22:12Speaker 6: of those scammed, he says, were senior citizens. All right,
- 2:22:15Speaker 6: a survey of over 1,500 Florida property insurance policyholders by
- 2:22:19Speaker 6: the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Orlando Sentinel, and the University of
- 2:22:22Speaker 6: North Florida's Public Opinion Research Lab shows 55% of those
- 2:22:27Speaker 6: polled see no signs of Florida's insurance market improving, and 26%
- 2:22:31Speaker 6: say it's only getting worse. Respondents are cited as saying
- 2:22:35Speaker 6: premiums are surging, thousands of Floridians are being dropped by
- 2:22:38Speaker 6: their insurers. and there's a deep dissatisfaction with the coverage
- 2:22:42Speaker 6: they are getting. This despite Florida lawmakers self-congratulating their efforts
- 2:22:46Speaker 6: at insurance reform, while 63% of survey respondents say property
- 2:22:51Speaker 6: insurance remains the bigger problem over property tax relief. And
- 2:22:55Speaker 6: this comes as many citizens' property insurance policyholders are now
- 2:23:00Speaker 6: going to need to carry flood insurance, even if they
- 2:23:03Speaker 6: don't live in a designated flood zone. And because citizens
- 2:23:07Speaker 6: doesn't offer flood insurance anymore, customers will need to buy
- 2:23:10Speaker 6: a separate policy through the National Flood Insurance Program or
- 2:23:14Speaker 6: a private insurer, and that will be required by January 1st.
- 2:23:17Speaker 2: Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
- 2:23:19Speaker 6: Are you a citizen?
- 2:23:20Speaker 2: No, I just think that's hogwash.
- 2:23:22Speaker 6: And it is.
- 2:23:23Speaker 2: Makes me want to punch drywall successfully.
- 2:23:25Speaker 6: And then finally, country music superstar Garth Brooks is here
- 2:23:29Speaker 6: in Orlando bringing the city. He's in the city beautiful
- 2:23:31Speaker 6: this weekend for back-to-back performances as part of his Blame
- 2:23:34Speaker 6: It All on My Roots arena tour. Three shows will
- 2:23:37Speaker 6: take place at the Kia Center tonight, Saturday, and Sunday.
- 2:23:40Speaker 6: If there's tickets, they're still limited. And you heard it
- 2:23:43Speaker 6: here first on the Jim Colbert Show.
- 2:23:45Speaker 2: Thank you, Debra.
- 2:23:45Speaker 17: Sure.
- 2:23:46Speaker 2: Who do we have to thank today, young lady?
- 2:23:47Speaker 6: We want to thank Attorney Mo DeWitt for saucing up
- 2:23:50Speaker 6: our Friday.
- 2:23:52Speaker 10: Yay!
- 2:23:52Speaker 7: Thank you, Mo.
- 2:23:53Speaker 29: Appreciate it.
- 2:23:53Speaker 2: Appreciate it.
- 2:23:53Speaker 6: Also want to thank Corona Cigar Company. Don't forget about
- 2:23:56Speaker 6: that fabulous deal they have this week. Coronacigar.com.
- 2:24:00Speaker 3: It's a 40 bundle for only like $ 65.
- 2:24:03Speaker 6: Wow, that's awesome. Faez Cara, restaurant critic for the Orlando Weekly.
- 2:24:08Speaker 6: Tim and Michael from Forward Slash Distillery and Blending House.

- 2:24:13Speaker 6: the Week, the podcasts have already been posted at the
- 2:24:15Speaker 6: Jim Colbert Show. And last but never least, Candice Rich
- 2:24:19Speaker 6: and Alicia Boulware for running our YouTube chat.
- 2:24:22Speaker 3: Thanks, guys.
- 2:24:23Speaker 2: Jet question of the day. In our YouTube chat, hi.
- 2:24:26Speaker 3: Is it okay to bring coffee on a job interview?
- 2:24:28Speaker 2: 92% say no. Yeah, undershot. 96% said no. Get out
- 2:24:36Speaker 2: of here. Get out of here.
- 2:24:37Speaker 3: All right, so I have a sideways view of that.
- 2:24:41Speaker 2: 14 sketches. 14 sketches. Daytona, Florida. Christy B., the comedy club.
- 2:24:46Speaker 2: The club! It's happening tomorrow night, 8 o'clock. You can
- 2:24:49Speaker 2: get tickets at rosscomedy.com. It's Friday Night Lights, Jim. Let's

- 2:24:57Speaker 2: 3 o'clock downtown Mountain Door. Hope to see you guys.
- 2:24:59Speaker 2: Make some plans. Come see us. Say hey. And don't
- 2:25:01Speaker 2: be there and don't come up and say hey. A
- 2:25:03Speaker 2: lot of people do that. They'll go, No, you're scary, dude.
- 2:25:05Speaker 2: I'm not scary. Yeah, I told you, but I didn't
- 2:25:07Speaker 2: say hi. Exactly right.
- 2:25:10Speaker 7: I know.
- 2:25:10Speaker 2: So we'll do that for sure. Jack, let's get the
- 2:25:12Speaker 2: hell out of here. What do you say? Let's do it.
- 2:25:13Speaker 2: On behalf of Deb, Jack, and Ross, I'm Jim. We
- 2:25:15Speaker 2: follow the new Shunky.
