- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's talk about Elon firsus open AI. This is something
- 0:02Speaker 1: that is a highly talked about legal battle for people
- 0:08Speaker 1: that don't know. Elon was at the beginning level of
- 0:12Speaker 1: open AI and how he puts it, kind of got
- 0:17Speaker 1: screwed out of the situation when they decided to change
- 0:21Speaker 1: their mission from a nonprofit to for profit organization and
- 0:25Speaker 1: a lot of other nuanced So he felt like he
- 0:28Speaker 1: was old a lot more than what he received, which
- 0:32Speaker 1: I don't think he was too much, and they went
- 0:36Speaker 1: to court. I think it started last year and today
- 0:39Speaker 1: I believe the judge through the through the case out.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah, the jury deliberated today and dismissed it on claims
- 0:47Speaker 2: that he waited too long to file the claim, not
- 0:50Speaker 2: that that he wasn't wrong, but that he just waited
- 0:53Speaker 2: too long. He said, he's gonna appeal. I mean, if
- 0:56Speaker 2: you can understand that sitting in that position that he's
- 0:58Speaker 2: in objective looking at it right like you're thinking, this
- 1:01Speaker 2: is a nonprofit, it turns into a for profit and
- 1:04Speaker 2: then you watch a company like Microsoft spend ten billion
- 1:07Speaker 2: on it and you're thinking to myself, eight, uh huh,
- 1:10Speaker 2: how do I get cut out that deal? He's gonna
- 1:12Speaker 2: appeal it, like you said, But it's interesting the the
- 1:16Speaker 2: case obviously was put forth a year ago. The trial
- 1:20Speaker 2: started maybe too, like two weeks ago, so it's moved
- 1:23Speaker 2: pretty quickly. But I think the remnants of the trial,
- 1:27Speaker 2: I think Elon looked at it from a standpoint of
- 1:32Speaker 2: how can I hurt this company? Yeah, I don't think
- 1:35Speaker 2: he wanted to win. I don't really think he wanted
- 1:37Speaker 2: to win. Obviously he has his company that's that's gonna
- 1:40Speaker 2: ip O here shortly, but how could I? How could
- 1:43Speaker 2: I damage it? And I think he succeeded in that
- 1:46Speaker 2: and in a way that's like like a little maniacal
- 1:52Speaker 2: I feel like, right, but if you think about how
- 1:55Speaker 2: we thought about open AI a year ago and how
- 1:57Speaker 2: we used to talk about it and how we talk
- 1:59Speaker 2: about it now, the sentiment is dramatically changed, completely changed,
- 2:04Speaker 2: which also is going into its IPO hurts, right, because
- 2:08Speaker 2: now how do we know how to move with this IPO?
- 2:12Speaker 2: If he has to get a piece of the company,
- 2:14Speaker 2: like that changes everything that gets pushed back. But I
- 2:17Speaker 2: think the most damaging thing about this is that the
- 2:20Speaker 2: public open AI, yes, but the public scrutiny of Sam
- 2:25Speaker 2: altman Aman Oh my gosh, it did the judgement sophistic
- 2:32Speaker 2: What is done to his public perception? How open AI
- 2:36Speaker 2: has now looked at as maybe second could be third
- 2:39Speaker 2: place when you're talking about platforms, right, anthropic has certainly
- 2:44Speaker 2: steamrolled in Darling and now is the darling of it?
- 2:48Speaker 2: Gemini is there. Elon's is like in that fourth place
- 2:52Speaker 2: and open as He's really changed the sentiment of how
- 2:56Speaker 2: we think. And I feel like, yeah, it could have
- 2:58Speaker 2: been a settlement of money, but this isn't about money.
- 3:01Speaker 2: You're talking about a guy when when when SpaceX IPOs
- 3:05Speaker 2: trillionaire status? Yeah, for sure, So it's not about money.
- 3:09Speaker 2: But what it is like the principal is the principle
- 3:11Speaker 2: and the public perception of how what I can now
- 3:13Speaker 2: do to you?
- 3:15Speaker 3: The thing is that's really interesting about it. I do
- 3:17Speaker 3: feel there's an element of he didn't care about the
- 3:20Speaker 3: development of the company until it became extremely popular and successful.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I know we were supposed to talk about this a
- 3:29Speaker 3: little bit last week, but we're shot like in terms
- 3:33Speaker 3: of how using the media because if you look at
- 3:35Speaker 3: Sam Altman versus Dario, it's a night in day comparison.
- 3:40Speaker 3: What if the missteps do you think Sam Altman made
- 3:43Speaker 3: and how could he have handled this better to make
- 3:47Speaker 3: sure that his name wasn't drugged through the mud In
- 3:49Speaker 3: terms of the media not saying Elon is an angel,
- 3:52Speaker 3: but sure to your point, Elon has done damage to
- 3:58Speaker 3: Sam's career that I don't think he'll ever recover from.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I think it was more than just Elon. I think,
- 4:03Speaker 1: you know, he had a series of unfortunate events as
- 4:06Speaker 1: far as he had an interview. Somebody got killed at
- 4:11Speaker 1: the employee and they asked him about it, and.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Allegedly for legal purposes, allegedly.
- 4:19Speaker 1: The person the person got unlived. We don't know the
- 4:22Speaker 1: circumstances behind him. But when acts, I didn't say that
- 4:26Speaker 1: he was responsible for I'm just saying that I want
- 4:29Speaker 1: to cover all bases. Yeah. So, but when they asked
- 4:31Speaker 1: him about it, I mean, his his answer was very strange,
- 4:35Speaker 1: to say the least. And then you know, you have
- 4:39Speaker 1: the privacy concerned issues with chat GBT, and then Elon
- 4:43Speaker 1: comes in. Then you know, a variety of other people
- 4:48Speaker 1: that worked in the ecosystem of open Ai started to
- 4:51Speaker 1: speak out, and then there's articles about the culture of
- 4:55Speaker 1: open AI, and and you know how employees were you know,
- 5:00Speaker 1: verbally abused and taking advantage of so much stuff. So
- 5:05Speaker 1: I think that it just started to become a snowball effect.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And that was one of the things, but it was
- 5:11Speaker 1: a variety of different things that did not help open
- 5:15Speaker 1: AI Chat GBT, Sam Altman, And at the same time
- 5:22Speaker 1: you got clawed and you have perplexity, and nobody they
- 5:27Speaker 1: don't really have a face fire to their brands. They clean,
- 5:31Speaker 1: nobody's really attached to it as far as emotionally attached
- 5:35Speaker 1: to They're just using it. So as he's declining, fighting
- 5:40Speaker 1: you know, that media battle, these other these other vehicles
- 5:47Speaker 1: are gaining from a popularity standpoint, and then it just
- 5:50Speaker 1: becomes a kind of a snowball of a recipe for
- 5:54Speaker 1: disaster though. While but they're not dead, I mean there's
- 5:56Speaker 1: still none they're still viable.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But ipo intoryever, and that what you said is exactly
- 6:07Speaker 2: what I'm thinking, right Like everything you said literally starts
- 6:12Speaker 2: as this as he decides that he's going to suit him.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And so when we think about, all right, how can
- 6:16Speaker 2: we defame, how can we defame? How can we defame?
- 6:18Speaker 2: How can we defame? I'm gonna put I know who
- 6:21Speaker 2: the man is right this was his partner in twenty
- 6:24Speaker 2: fifteen when they created this. He knows who he is.
- 6:27Speaker 2: If I have to make him be public facing, oh,
- 6:30Speaker 2: he's gonna show who he really is. So we really
- 6:33Speaker 2: see who he is, right, and this part, as you
- 6:36Speaker 2: do it, just really quickly. As you do that, then
- 6:39Speaker 2: now here comes the flaws in you. Here comes the
- 6:41Speaker 2: flaws in you. It's not just the product anymore. We're
- 6:44Speaker 2: like now looking at the CEO is like, we don't
- 6:46Speaker 2: know as much about Dario and anthropic. We probably didn't
- 6:49Speaker 2: even know his name two years ago, right, most people didn't.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Most people still probably don't know his name. But because
- 6:55Speaker 2: he doesn't have that lawsuit, now he's able to create
- 6:58Speaker 2: and be creative, and a team allowed to be creative.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Whereas open AI is like, boom, here's a hit. Here's
- 7:03Speaker 2: a hit. Here's a hit. We didn't even talk about
- 7:05Speaker 2: the oracle, piece of it. Here's a hit. Okay, all
- 7:09Speaker 2: this is coming at you. That's gonna limit creativity. Now
- 7:12Speaker 2: you got to focus on this. What if you lose
- 7:13Speaker 2: this case? Oh you're trying to I po oh wait,
- 7:17Speaker 2: let's slow down on that. All while everybody in this
- 7:20Speaker 2: race is pushing the head pushing forward with less headlines.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Obviously we saw what happened recently with Anthropic and the government,
- 7:27Speaker 2: but prior to that, it was oh that second place thing.
- 7:31Speaker 2: Oh okay, here it comes. Oh wait, they have a
- 7:33Speaker 2: model that's better. They've caught up. They're actually going to
- 7:36Speaker 2: IPO at a higher evaluation. It's the timing of it
- 7:40Speaker 2: is very.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Interesting, interesting, and to that point, if you're going to
- 7:44Speaker 3: do bad business, don't be surprised the person that you
- 7:48Speaker 3: were doing business with runs to your enemies and gives
- 7:50Speaker 3: your entire playbook on how to destroy you. Allegedly, all
- 7:55Speaker 3: the Sor campaign allegedly and the book Empire of AI
- 8:00Speaker 3: came out with some pushing and maybe backing from said
- 8:05Speaker 3: person who may feel like intellectual property was stolen from him.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Even in some of the software route and destruction that
- 8:14Speaker 3: we've had. Some are even saying, because remember, at first
- 8:17Speaker 3: ELI wasn't that favorable towards Anthropic and the closer we
- 8:21Speaker 3: got to this case, all of a sudden partnership and
- 8:25Speaker 3: bridges RBMA between SpaceX Starlink X at scale. So if
- 8:31Speaker 3: you're going SAM, you got away with this one. But
- 8:34Speaker 3: when you have initial investors in him and all the
- 8:37Speaker 3: people who back him. Don't be surprised when they come
- 8:41Speaker 3: to get their look back and come to attack you,
- 8:43Speaker 3: even through presidential means. You got away with this one
- 8:46Speaker 3: because he filed too late. But you have to be
- 8:49Speaker 3: aware of every attack that you're going to go through.
- 8:51Speaker 3: Like at one point they were going to be the
- 8:53Speaker 3: darling of AI. They're almost looked at like the baster
- 8:58Speaker 3: or child of the space now.
- 9:00Speaker 2: All while and we could be like remiss if we
- 9:03Speaker 2: didn't say that, all while building his own AI, right,
- 9:06Speaker 2: like Elon's building x AI at the same time. And
- 9:09Speaker 2: look at the strategic partnerships he has with it, right
- 9:11Speaker 2: you talked about anthropic Amazon is helping them with their
- 9:14Speaker 2: data center build out, so like they're partnering and working together. Meanwhile,
- 9:19Speaker 2: like you said, he knows the flaws because he knows
- 9:21Speaker 2: he knows the man. Mm hmmm,
