- 0:16Speaker 1: Hello, and welcome everybody to episode eighty one of Cards
- 0:19Speaker 1: and Categories. I am Mike Coolard from ras Ball, joined
- 0:23Speaker 1: as always by my very good friend Jeremy Burr, also
- 0:25Speaker 1: from ras Ball. I've been wondering, has your phone just
- 0:29Speaker 1: been blowing up ever since the Yankees retooled their facial
- 0:33Speaker 1: hair policy, and now that you're allowed to play for
- 0:35Speaker 1: the Yankees, obviously that is the only thing holding you
- 0:37Speaker 1: back from signing with them all these years.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, the offer's been on the table for
- 0:40Speaker 2: a while, but I just couldn't. I couldn't bear to
- 0:42Speaker 2: lose the beard I've I mean, I've had facial hairs
- 0:45Speaker 2: for twenty years and I just don't think it'll do
- 0:49Speaker 2: my attendee. So my friend, okay, well let's let's not
- 0:52Speaker 2: go too far here. But you know, I the contract
- 0:56Speaker 2: offer was out there. You know, it was either a
- 0:58Speaker 2: million dollars shaved the beard, and I said, you know what,
- 0:59Speaker 2: I've got hold my principles in my bad back and
- 1:03Speaker 2: we'll call it a day. So, yes, and my phone
- 1:05Speaker 2: was blowing up more because spring training started than anything else.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Yes, I hear you. So I will link to that
- 1:11Speaker 1: in the show notes, and you can find anything else
- 1:13Speaker 1: that you want in the show notes in terms of
- 1:15Speaker 1: what we're going to talk about. And also when you're
- 1:17Speaker 1: in those show notes, make sure click on the link
- 1:20Speaker 1: to those ras Ball subscriptions. I've got them down there.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Lots of great tools, lots of great options that we
- 1:25Speaker 1: have to be able to sign up for ras Ball
- 1:27Speaker 1: year long subscriptions, or if you just want to download
- 1:30Speaker 1: some of the projections and stuff, you can just get
- 1:32Speaker 1: like a I think there's a three day option so
- 1:35Speaker 1: allows you to do that, but I would obviously suggest
- 1:38Speaker 1: the year long one that gets you access to our
- 1:40Speaker 1: two favorite tools of mine, the Streaminator and the hitter Tron,
- 1:46Speaker 1: which gives you weekly projections and matchups that take into calculation, weather, matchups,
- 1:52Speaker 1: of pitching, you know, all sorts of various factors. It
- 1:55Speaker 1: really helps you decide on the fringes of what players
- 1:58Speaker 1: to pick up and to start weekend week out. It
- 2:01Speaker 1: is a league winner, absolutely so. Also, if you're down there,
- 2:05Speaker 1: we do have gear that'scott cards and categories logos on it,
- 2:08Speaker 1: t shirts, hats, all sorts of great stuff down there.
- 2:12Speaker 1: And like I said, anything else that we're talking about
- 2:14Speaker 1: in the show, we are gonna preview the Al West
- 2:17Speaker 1: Today with Sam Wershing, who is a part of the
- 2:21Speaker 1: I always mispronounce it, but it's the Palazzo Podcast and
- 2:25Speaker 1: Dynasty Guru. If you've been to First Pitch Arizona, I'm
- 2:29Speaker 1: sure you know Sam because he is one of the
- 2:31Speaker 1: most generous and just happy, go lucky guys that you
- 2:35Speaker 1: can ever find. I love chatting to Sam. Met him
- 2:38Speaker 1: out there and that's how we linked up. He's a
- 2:40Speaker 1: big Sale Manners fan, so he knows Al West in
- 2:42Speaker 1: and out. He's gonna help us get through that last preview.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Before we get into that, though, brew let's get into
- 2:48Speaker 1: some quick news and notes. We've just got a few
- 2:50Speaker 1: bits and bobs. So first one we have is Andrew
- 2:52Speaker 1: Heaney signing with the Pittsburgh Pirates, which this I think
- 2:57Speaker 1: is a pretty intriguing signing considering the home park that
- 3:00Speaker 1: the Pirates have, and he should slot into that rotation
- 3:03Speaker 1: pretty quickly. Looks like he's been also assigned number zero,
- 3:07Speaker 1: which I love to see. That's a goofy number for
- 3:09Speaker 1: a pitcher to wear. But he is coming off of
- 3:12Speaker 1: a season in which he threw one hundred and sixty
- 3:16Speaker 1: so so innings for the Rangers four twenty eight era
- 3:20Speaker 1: with a eight point nine K nine. What do you
- 3:23Speaker 1: think he can do with the Pirates?
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you classify this right. It's like an
- 3:28Speaker 2: intriguing landing spot because he need for the longest time
- 3:32Speaker 2: was this like tons of potential, but pitching it in
- 3:35Speaker 2: La for the Angels and they just didn't know what
- 3:38Speaker 2: to do with him. He was a little bit erratic
- 3:40Speaker 2: here and there, but like there seems that there's always
- 3:42Speaker 2: potential there. And I really like the move to Pittsburgh
- 3:46Speaker 2: just because they really feel like they've figured out what
- 3:49Speaker 2: to do with pictures and kind of how developed them,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and so I'm hoping that they kind of do some
- 3:53Speaker 2: of them because his game last year, he just he
- 3:56Speaker 2: left the ball the air too much and that really,
- 3:58Speaker 2: you know, damaged him. He he tends to give up
- 4:01Speaker 2: decent amount of homers and I'm and he's lost a
- 4:04Speaker 2: tick on the fastball, and I'm just hoping that they
- 4:05Speaker 2: can tweak that arsenal just slightly and you know, he
- 4:09Speaker 2: ends up kind of in that back rotation, reliable, steady
- 4:13Speaker 2: Eddy kind of guy. I think that there's a potential
- 4:15Speaker 2: for that. So I'm intrigued in my targeting heavily. No,
- 4:19Speaker 2: buts you know, this is a dart throw late in
- 4:21Speaker 2: the draft. If my rotation needs a little help or
- 4:23Speaker 2: little reinforcement. Absolutely, So I think it'll be fun. He
- 4:26Speaker 2: should absolutely have a spot there behind the kind of
- 4:29Speaker 2: the top three of you know, Jared Jones, Mitch Keller
- 4:34Speaker 2: and that the other guy can'tmember his name. I think
- 4:35Speaker 2: it's Paul Skeens for for the Pirates, he should be
- 4:38Speaker 2: that number four, no question. He'll be that veteran that
- 4:41Speaker 2: they're looking to learn from. So I think this is
- 4:44Speaker 2: gonna be a fun one to watch.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so too, And just like could be
- 4:48Speaker 1: a pretty big source of strikeouts where he's going. It's
- 4:51Speaker 1: hard to find strikeouts late this year.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Yeah, so.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I think he needs a good person to keep in
- 4:56Speaker 1: mind for that. Okay, well it is kind of injury.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So we covered a few last week. Big one now
- 5:04Speaker 1: to go on top of one that we covered last
- 5:06Speaker 1: week with Frankie Montes for the New York Mets. Now
- 5:08Speaker 1: we have Sean and Iya going down with an oblique strain,
- 5:10Speaker 1: which is no bueno for a picture at this point
- 5:14Speaker 1: in time because oblique strains just scare the living. But
- 5:18Speaker 1: Jesus out of me for pictures that Like we talked
- 5:21Speaker 1: about this a little bit last week with Montes, where
- 5:24Speaker 1: especially if you go down for four weeks here in
- 5:27Speaker 1: the spring, you're already not going to break camp with
- 5:30Speaker 1: the team. Then you have to rehab. We talked about
- 5:32Speaker 1: last week with what that did to Blake Snell. Are
- 5:36Speaker 1: you worried about the same thing with Sean andya here?
- 5:38Speaker 1: And then we did cover in our Mets preview pod.
- 5:43Speaker 1: We picked a couple of pictures ourselves. Are you bumping
- 5:47Speaker 1: any of those pictures between like Brandon Sprout and Jonah
- 5:49Speaker 1: Toong maybe higher up your list because things are already
- 5:53Speaker 1: getting desperate in Queen's.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I am concerned. It's it's like, these
- 6:01Speaker 2: are the things you don't want to deal with. You
- 6:02Speaker 2: don't want to for pictures, Like first of all, arms
- 6:05Speaker 2: like they're they're important, But then when you start getting
- 6:07Speaker 2: to that core, you start talking with the lats of
- 6:10Speaker 2: the obliques, those kinds of things like that core rotational Uh,
- 6:14Speaker 2: you know, mechanism is so so important and you can't
- 6:19Speaker 2: start your season late, especially with those, and you can't
- 6:23Speaker 2: rush those along. So yeah, the Mantassam and Iah both
- 6:26Speaker 2: guys I'm not relying on. I have no interest in
- 6:28Speaker 2: them whatsoever at this point, but it does intrigue me
- 6:32Speaker 2: for those young guns, like what could be from a
- 6:35Speaker 2: for a guy like Sprout because all that's sit between
- 6:38Speaker 2: him and you know, a major league rotation option right now?
- 6:41Speaker 2: Are Paul Blackburn and Griffin Canning not the models of consistency,
- 6:46Speaker 2: not the models of what I want to rely on.
- 6:49Speaker 2: I'll give it maybe a little more credit to Blackburn
- 6:51Speaker 2: for a being consistent maybe company. Yeah, so I think
- 6:56Speaker 2: there's absolute opportunities there and they're they're one injury away
- 6:59Speaker 2: from having to go there. They're they're where they're at
- 7:03Speaker 2: right now is like if I got if I if
- 7:04Speaker 2: I see some potential, I might want to go there
- 7:06Speaker 2: because this is not a team that is like playing
- 7:10Speaker 2: it safe. This is a team that's going they want
- 7:13Speaker 2: to win. They paid a little bit in the off
- 7:15Speaker 2: season for this guy. I can't remember again. Names are
- 7:18Speaker 2: failing me. I think it was one Soto and so
- 7:21Speaker 2: how you brought Pete Alonzo back? Like you're you don't
- 7:24Speaker 2: want to waste that. So they're not going to rely
- 7:27Speaker 2: on the guys like Blackburn Canning that long if they
- 7:30Speaker 2: have guys come up behind him that look good. So
- 7:33Speaker 2: I'm I'm intrigued at the expense of guys like uh
- 7:38Speaker 2: Mon tops uh here and and Manaiah, So unfortunate for them,
- 7:44Speaker 2: but might be hidden gym for somebody else.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy that the Mets they did, I guess
- 7:51Speaker 1: sign Jose Urina today, which is not papering over this.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, it's kind of a great landing spot
- 7:57Speaker 1: for Kyle Gibson Lance Lynn type where where if you
- 8:01Speaker 1: are in a draft and whole situation and like want
- 8:03Speaker 1: to take a dart throw in one of those guys,
- 8:06Speaker 1: they're going to get a job here within the next
- 8:08Speaker 1: week or two. Yeah, and they should be like, there's
- 8:11Speaker 1: such veteran presences, it's not gonna take much for them
- 8:14Speaker 1: to ramp up.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Okay, we've got another relatively well it's technically a minor
- 8:21Speaker 1: league signing, but I don't know if it might be
- 8:23Speaker 1: minor in stature for our fantasy game. Mark Kanaha is
- 8:26Speaker 1: joining the Milwaukee Brewers, I guess should say is rejoining
- 8:31Speaker 1: them as Blake Perkins fractured his shin and kind of
- 8:36Speaker 1: is looking to be out, probably like four to six
- 8:39Speaker 1: sch weeks. But we saw what a fractured shin did
- 8:42Speaker 1: to Kyle Tucker last year that it's a tough injury,
- 8:45Speaker 1: especially given that Perkins was probably going to play a
- 8:49Speaker 1: smidge of center field and really was a.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Sneaky stolen base option.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I think in option in drafts that's pretty much gone
- 8:56Speaker 1: because I don't know how many steals you can count
- 8:58Speaker 1: on Perkins this injury. But I know you've always been
- 9:02Speaker 1: a big fan of Mark Canhap but this honestly gives
- 9:05Speaker 1: him a pretty decent pathway to a nice role with
- 9:08Speaker 1: the Brewers, because when we went through that preview last week,
- 9:13Speaker 1: there are lots of platoons and kind of part time
- 9:16Speaker 1: players in Milwaukee, but somebody like Canha might be able
- 9:19Speaker 1: to break through some of that noise. Do you think, like,
- 9:22Speaker 1: are what types of leagues are you maybe intrigued on
- 9:25Speaker 1: picking up can HAA because I know you like the
- 9:27Speaker 1: skill set, maybe like the situation now too, Yeah, like.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Situation, like the skill set little questionable on the aging
- 9:34Speaker 2: curve at this point for Kanna, you know, I'm definitely
- 9:39Speaker 2: in our only leagues. I'm intrigued, maybe fourteen sixteen teamers
- 9:43Speaker 2: I'm interested in when I'm talking about my interest, it's
- 9:47Speaker 2: much more of like, this is a guy that, when
- 9:51Speaker 2: you're looking to fill a spot, can bring you good
- 9:55Speaker 2: stats across the board, not outstanding stats, And that's what
- 9:58Speaker 2: he's been throughout his career. He's going to be a
- 10:00Speaker 2: decent average, He's going to have some power, some speed,
- 10:03Speaker 2: He's going to be able to score a few runs
- 10:05Speaker 2: like he's he's really a great filler. And so when
- 10:09Speaker 2: you're in a deep league, you need those kind of guys.
- 10:11Speaker 2: You need those guys that are going to get playing
- 10:13Speaker 2: time and phil and so it'll be interesting to see
- 10:16Speaker 2: what actually happens here. Like I said, I do have
- 10:19Speaker 2: a little question of the agent here. Is he slowing
- 10:21Speaker 2: down or is it going to be a little tough
- 10:24Speaker 2: for him, because he twenty twenty four was not the
- 10:26Speaker 2: best year for him by any means. But it'll be
- 10:29Speaker 2: interesting to see where he lands a spring rolls around
- 10:34Speaker 2: the corner here and is he making that roster and
- 10:36Speaker 2: is he kind of sneaking at bats and stealing seeing
- 10:39Speaker 2: playing time. There's not much better landing spot for him
- 10:42Speaker 2: at this point.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and everything that you said also just makes me
- 10:47Speaker 1: think this guy is going to be written about in
- 10:49Speaker 1: my waiver wire calm. You're going to talk about him
- 10:52Speaker 1: all year, yes, because this is kind of like the
- 10:55Speaker 1: classic type of player where he plugs and plays pretty easily,
- 10:58Speaker 1: because it's like a fifteen fifteen ish profile when it's
- 11:01Speaker 1: a full kind of season of playing with a league
- 11:05Speaker 1: average batting average, but like he's got the pathway to
- 11:09Speaker 1: first base with Breeze Hoskins kind of like if anything
- 11:12Speaker 1: happens there and then I do not trust south Freylick,
- 11:15Speaker 1: like I don't totally get south Freylick. And you can
- 11:18Speaker 1: see where Canahak can make this line up pretty quickly
- 11:22Speaker 1: that like, if he does start doing that also just
- 11:25Speaker 1: an intriguing option in shallower leagues where fifth outfielder can
- 11:29Speaker 1: be hard to fill. And if you've got somebody like
- 11:31Speaker 1: Kanaha who can provide double digit homers, double digit stolen
- 11:35Speaker 1: bases not sink your batting average, that's easy found Bunny Yep, Okay,
- 11:42Speaker 1: well with that that, Like I said, it's a pretty
- 11:44Speaker 1: brief news and notes. I will link in the show
- 11:47Speaker 1: notes the schedule for baseball cards. No significant updates since
- 11:52Speaker 1: last week. Still just because we're all basking in the
- 11:54Speaker 1: glow of top Series one still being out, but we
- 11:57Speaker 1: will start turning the corner to some more twenty twenty
- 12:01Speaker 1: four releases finally hitting shelves and then honestly, I'm pumped
- 12:05Speaker 1: after that because we're gonna get right into the prime
- 12:07Speaker 1: of twenty twenty five releases. But with that, we're going
- 12:10Speaker 1: to take a short break, but we will be back
- 12:13Speaker 1: with Sam Wishing to discuss the Ale West preview, So
- 12:15Speaker 1: stick around everybody, all right, Welcome back everybody. From the break,
- 12:37Speaker 1: We're gonna get right into our Ale West preview and
- 12:40Speaker 1: to join us here to scope out what's happening in
- 12:43Speaker 1: the Al West. We brought out one of our West
- 12:46Speaker 1: Coast respondents here, Sam Wishing from the Paul Palooza uh
- 12:51Speaker 1: mana podcast pub. Yes, give me two z's and then
- 13:00Speaker 1: you've been at Dynasty Guru. But I think everybody knows
- 13:03Speaker 1: you within the baseball podcast world and from First Pitch
- 13:06Speaker 1: Arizona as everybody's favorite game show host. We met at
- 13:10Speaker 1: First Pitch Arizona twenty twenty four, so it's been great
- 13:14Speaker 1: to kind of spark that friendship. Great to have you
- 13:16Speaker 1: on here for our Ale West preview.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to having a
- 13:21Speaker 3: lively conversation.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, and so you're joining us from up near Seattle,
- 13:25Speaker 1: so you obviously are clued into all these teams in
- 13:27Speaker 1: the Al West, because I'll admit this is probably one
- 13:30Speaker 1: of the divisions I watched the least just in the
- 13:33Speaker 1: Central time zone. If I am watching in West Coast,
- 13:36Speaker 1: game usually involves show Heyo Tani, So there's that factor.
- 13:40Speaker 1: If I'm watching a West Coast.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Game, watch must watch baseball.
- 13:44Speaker 1: So I guess I watched a lot of it when
- 13:45Speaker 1: he was on the Angels because I spent a lot
- 13:47Speaker 1: of time watching those Angels teams. But without him around there,
- 13:51Speaker 1: I think we've still got some fascinating teams. It should
- 13:53Speaker 1: be a wide open division, I think in terms of
- 13:55Speaker 1: who's competing as What we're going to do is go
- 13:59Speaker 1: through each team and preview them a little bit on
- 14:02Speaker 1: like kind of what they're doing in the off season
- 14:05Speaker 1: or have done. Gonna go alphabetically by city all the
- 14:10Speaker 1: way through, which is the way I organize my baseball cards.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So that's the way that we do these previews on
- 14:17Speaker 1: each team. We are going to do a buy, a sell,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and a quote unquote prospect pick to click, so a
- 14:24Speaker 1: younger player who we think can have a major impact
- 14:26Speaker 1: on fantasy teams for twenty twenty five. And we've got
- 14:30Speaker 1: forty five picks to get through, so we're gonna rattle
- 14:32Speaker 1: through these at a pretty decent clip hopefully. I think
- 14:35Speaker 1: we've got some good discussions coming up. But let's start
- 14:38Speaker 1: with those Houston Astros. They are alphabetically the first team
- 14:42Speaker 1: here in the West, which is kind of weird with
- 14:43Speaker 1: the h but this is why I think the ale
- 14:47Speaker 1: West is pretty open. It seems that this team has
- 14:50Speaker 1: taken a little bit of a step back. They sold
- 14:52Speaker 1: Kyle Tucker in the offseason, They've lost Alex Bregman. Jose
- 14:56Speaker 1: Al Tuve might be manning left field some going into
- 14:59Speaker 1: this season, which is kind of crazy, but they should
- 15:02Speaker 1: be getting some of that injured pitching back and they
- 15:05Speaker 1: are going to just be a formidable force I think
- 15:08Speaker 1: going forward. As you know, they still are getting heavy
- 15:11Speaker 1: investment from the ownership group, even if Jim Crane is
- 15:14Speaker 1: maybe pressing a few too many buttons for anybody's liking
- 15:19Speaker 1: down there, not like too many people really like the
- 15:22Speaker 1: Astros anyway, I don't think I'm taking a crazy stance
- 15:25Speaker 1: on this podcast, integrating the Astros. But with all that, Sam,
- 15:30Speaker 1: who is who's your buy down in Houston going into
- 15:34Speaker 1: the twenty twenty five season.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Well, I really like Houston's lineup. I think that their
- 15:40Speaker 3: play discipline up and down that lineup is just amazing.
- 15:45Speaker 3: And I really think that the new face of a
- 15:48Speaker 3: Soak Parades coming over is really going to do something
- 15:53Speaker 3: at the top of that lineup. I think this is
- 15:54Speaker 3: going to be the best lineup that he's been a
- 15:56Speaker 3: part of, and he slots in nicely between al two
- 16:01Speaker 3: Ve and Alvarez. He'll probably bet two in that lineup.
- 16:03Speaker 3: That's what roster resource has I'm at, and I tend
- 16:06Speaker 3: to agree with where they have him for that. So
- 16:10Speaker 3: I just think that he is just going to get
- 16:11Speaker 3: a ton of counting stats. You are looking at somebody
- 16:14Speaker 3: who's going to have monster run in RBI numbers, hit
- 16:17Speaker 3: a fair number of home runs, and probably isn't going
- 16:21Speaker 3: to kill you at the batting average. You know. I
- 16:23Speaker 3: really feel like he has a low k rate, he's
- 16:26Speaker 3: got a high walk rate, and so we're looking at
- 16:29Speaker 3: somebody that might hit two seventy to eighty two ninety
- 16:32Speaker 3: this season and really cause some damage in your fantasy lineup,
- 16:35Speaker 3: So I'm looking forward to him and I'm trying to
- 16:38Speaker 3: pick him up wherever I can.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I think this is a great pick. I'm looking
- 16:42Speaker 1: at ADP data for draft champions over the past month
- 16:46Speaker 1: as we're speaking here on February twenty seventh, which is
- 16:50Speaker 1: kind of great. I have enough data now they can
- 16:52Speaker 1: run a month back Prad. This is going absolutely two
- 16:55Speaker 1: hundred th off the board, So that's pretty deep.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Brew.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I know you're already probably looking at it. But what
- 17:01Speaker 1: would his total of home runs been in Houston? Because
- 17:03Speaker 1: I think that I think you hit it right on
- 17:05Speaker 1: the nose here, Sam, in terms of what the secret
- 17:09Speaker 1: sauces with Parades with that flyball pole heavy approach. Now
- 17:13Speaker 1: that we have the Crawford boxes.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you know me too. Well, he had nineteen homers
- 17:17Speaker 2: last year, he would have had twenty six of playing
- 17:19Speaker 2: everything over there with the Crawford boxes. And I'm I'm
- 17:23Speaker 2: right there with you. I don't know who I'm buying
- 17:25Speaker 2: two seventy to eighty for Ezak, But he also might
- 17:28Speaker 2: just hit off the wall and make it work out.
- 17:31Speaker 2: So I could be wrong, but I was a full
- 17:34Speaker 2: sell on Parides prior to the move to Houston, because
- 17:37Speaker 2: I just couldn't stand the profile of literally just pull
- 17:39Speaker 2: everything and hope for the best and then you go
- 17:43Speaker 2: to like the one ball part. I mean, knows what
- 17:45Speaker 2: Houston's smart, it's the one ballpark that this works. Well,
- 17:49Speaker 2: maybe second Tampa works as well.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, tamp not this year.
- 17:52Speaker 2: But and so I think it's you're absolutely right, Like I,
- 17:55Speaker 2: It's like before he was a cell and now he's
- 17:58Speaker 2: a bye. His his ADP didn't change enough to kind
- 18:01Speaker 2: of account for that. So I think it's kind of
- 18:02Speaker 2: a steaky value where he's at. Absolutely, he was my
- 18:05Speaker 2: second on my list for the Astros. I just couldn't
- 18:08Speaker 2: commit to him since I sold him prior to the
- 18:10Speaker 2: off season before he got traded. I had too much pride.
- 18:15Speaker 3: I think also him slotting in at a quarter enfield
- 18:17Speaker 3: spot really adds to the value that he's going to
- 18:21Speaker 3: provide a lineup. There seems to be a ton of
- 18:23Speaker 3: second base and shortstop this year. That hasn't that those
- 18:27Speaker 3: positions have felt a little scarce. We'll see how the
- 18:29Speaker 3: season plays out, obviously, but that was another reason for me.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Was I just I love the position.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, Jeremy, who is your number one buy
- 18:38Speaker 1: in Houston, then.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Well, if you've listened to this podcasts at all, you
- 18:41Speaker 2: know who my number one buying Houston is. It is
- 18:43Speaker 2: Hunter Brown. I absolutely love Hunter Brown. Loved him for
- 18:47Speaker 2: a few years except for May of last year, or
- 18:50Speaker 2: actually so I was April last year. I did not
- 18:51Speaker 2: love him so much then. But May on last year,
- 18:55Speaker 2: guy was one of the best pitchers out there over
- 18:58Speaker 2: about one hundred and fifty Indians eleven games, struck out
- 19:02Speaker 2: nine and a half per per nine, walked two eight
- 19:05Speaker 2: per nine, and delivered a two and a half er
- 19:09Speaker 2: really supported by all the other metrics, and so he
- 19:11Speaker 2: just was absolutely dominant. He figured things out and he
- 19:14Speaker 2: carried it through the season. And he's one of those
- 19:17Speaker 2: guys that goes deep into games. He pitched into the
- 19:20Speaker 2: sixth the vast majority of the time. He got into
- 19:22Speaker 2: the seventh a number of times as well. And I
- 19:25Speaker 2: think he's still getting getting better. So at this point,
- 19:28Speaker 2: the ADP just doesn't seem to make sense for him.
- 19:32Speaker 2: He's still in He's still probably two three rounds later
- 19:37Speaker 2: then he should be going for me. So I'm picking
- 19:39Speaker 2: up Hunter Brown left and right this this offseason.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I love this pick especially if you're trying to
- 19:45Speaker 1: pick up some extra k's in your like number two starter,
- 19:49Speaker 1: perfect pick, all right, my buye. I'm actually surprised by
- 19:53Speaker 1: this because I think he was my cell last year
- 19:56Speaker 1: when we were doing this, but the price has been
- 19:58Speaker 1: really fantastic throughout draft season and over the past month.
- 20:02Speaker 1: His ADP is right around like sixty two. It's from
- 20:06Speaker 1: per Valdez, who last year by our Player Raider on
- 20:09Speaker 1: ras Ball, came in as the forty first most valuable player.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Our twenty twenty five Player Raider for the Projections puts
- 20:17Speaker 1: him as the thirty ninth most valuable player. So with
- 20:21Speaker 1: all that, like, I do think that especially when you're
- 20:24Speaker 1: kind of getting in the range of you kind of
- 20:26Speaker 1: need to finally pop a number one starting pitcher where
- 20:29Speaker 1: Valdez goes there and that kind of like fourth roundish range.
- 20:34Speaker 1: It works for me just because you look at what
- 20:36Speaker 1: this guy's kind of put up over the past few years.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It's been a pretty steady aty like fifteen wins somewhere
- 20:43Speaker 1: akin to like a low three ZRA. You're looking at
- 20:46Speaker 1: a pretty solid whip and then the strikeout rate isn't,
- 20:50Speaker 1: you know, otherworldly, But if you're getting one hundred and
- 20:52Speaker 1: eighty to one hundred and ninety innings from him. That's
- 20:55Speaker 1: where you get the volume. Love the ground ball rate,
- 20:58Speaker 1: some of the stuff has like diminished, but I think
- 21:00Speaker 1: that's why, like you're getting the value on the ADP
- 21:03Speaker 1: because like he just knows how to pitch. He knows
- 21:06Speaker 1: how to keep the ball on the ground. Great sinker,
- 21:08Speaker 1: and you gotta love the team around him to be
- 21:10Speaker 1: able to grab those wins, goes deep in games. So
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm buying from Brivaldez going twenty five.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Frankly, I wanted to sell Framber and then I
- 21:18Speaker 2: started looking at him and I'm like, I can't quite
- 21:20Speaker 2: sell it. Like to me little it's a little earlier
- 21:23Speaker 2: than one, and there's just something about totally watching him pitch,
- 21:26Speaker 2: and I'm like, I don't understand, but it works. And
- 21:29Speaker 2: so I just can't draft guys that I don't understand
- 21:33Speaker 2: why it works. And so I would still take hunder
- 21:35Speaker 2: Brown over Framber Valdas all day, even though the stats
- 21:37Speaker 2: that you should do the opposite. More of it's kind
- 21:40Speaker 2: of the ADP perspective, Like I'm just not drafting almost
- 21:43Speaker 2: any pitchers in those first like five six, rounds and
- 21:46Speaker 2: then I'm just going hog wild in the like six
- 21:49Speaker 2: to ten round range and just picking like five straight starters.
- 21:52Speaker 2: So I don't love Framber. But the more I looked
- 21:56Speaker 2: at him, like how can I sell that line? I
- 21:59Speaker 2: can't really full sell the line. There's just something about
- 22:02Speaker 2: it that I just can't fully get on board with. Yeah,
- 22:05Speaker 2: I can't put my finger on it. It's just like
- 22:07Speaker 2: that eye test. And that's why I'm not a scout.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think it's the volume sneaks up on
- 22:11Speaker 1: you too, where like it is so many more innings
- 22:14Speaker 1: than everybody else that it's a little bit of like
- 22:16Speaker 1: what standia all contrast? Did you know?
- 22:18Speaker 2: But I sold last week?
- 22:22Speaker 1: But this is a weird position considering I also bought
- 22:24Speaker 1: Aaron Nola for the same reason the other week. That
- 22:26Speaker 1: it's a it's a crazy time. I can't believe that
- 22:28Speaker 1: I'm doing this. But let's get into some of those cells. So, Sam,
- 22:33Speaker 1: who are you selling from? The Astros?
- 22:35Speaker 3: Selling Christian Walker?
- 22:37Speaker 1: All right?
- 22:38Speaker 2: The new signing.
- 22:39Speaker 3: So Christian Walker is pretty pretty. He's a great player,
- 22:45Speaker 3: you know. I I hate to say that I'm selling
- 22:47Speaker 3: on him, but I think that there's you know, you're
- 22:49Speaker 3: gonna get the opposite reaction with Christian Walker coming to Houston.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I think that there's just something about that spot there
- 22:57Speaker 3: for him where I'm just not I'm not feeling it,
- 23:01Speaker 3: and I wish I could tell you something about his
- 23:03Speaker 3: approach or the underlying numbers. I just don't. I've never
- 23:07Speaker 3: been a Christian Walker fan. And maybe maybe it's jose
- 23:11Speaker 3: of Bray, you flashbags, where I was so in on
- 23:15Speaker 3: them finally getting their first basement, and maybe this is
- 23:18Speaker 3: this is it, maybe this is the redemption and I'm
- 23:20Speaker 3: going to be completely wrong, but I'm avoiding Christian Walker
- 23:23Speaker 3: everywhere I can. There's a few other players that I'd
- 23:26Speaker 3: much rather have at first base than him. I'm rather
- 23:29Speaker 3: take a chance on Vinnie pas Quentino, to be honest,
- 23:32Speaker 3: No couple rounds later.
- 23:34Speaker 1: That's exactly it. And I think too like Walker looked
- 23:38Speaker 1: rough in the second half last year. I know he
- 23:40Speaker 1: was a little nicked up. I think he battled an
- 23:42Speaker 1: oblique injury at some point during this season, but it
- 23:45Speaker 1: was a two oh seven average in the second half
- 23:47Speaker 1: with a ninety three WRC plus, not something you want
- 23:50Speaker 1: to see from a thirty three year old first Baseman. Yeah, Jeremy,
- 23:56Speaker 1: who's your cell here for Houston?
- 23:59Speaker 2: This one feels like it obvious one, but I still
- 24:00Speaker 2: have to do it. I'm selling Ronel Blanco. He's like,
- 24:05Speaker 2: I look at it. He's not like he's going that
- 24:07Speaker 2: high in the draft. I changed my ADP data here,
- 24:10Speaker 2: but I think he was going two forty four. I'm
- 24:14Speaker 2: not using Draft Champions ADP because I'm lazy and didn't
- 24:17Speaker 2: want to click the drop down. But at the end
- 24:19Speaker 2: of the day, he's one of those guys to me,
- 24:21Speaker 2: just kind of like Sammy just said, I'm just not
- 24:24Speaker 2: drafting them. I don't care where you give it to me,
- 24:26Speaker 2: I'm not drafting him. He gives me Bryce Elder vibes
- 24:30Speaker 2: all over the place like he he he just he
- 24:34Speaker 2: just skimmed by on a low babit last year he
- 24:37Speaker 2: got lucky with from a left on base perspective. He
- 24:42Speaker 2: doesn't keep the ball on the ground enough. He had
- 24:45Speaker 2: his career year and walks at thirty years old like
- 24:48Speaker 2: that just is gonna I mean, his career best before
- 24:52Speaker 2: that was four eight five, like per nine, like that's
- 24:54Speaker 2: going to regress. It just feels like there's all these
- 24:57Speaker 2: warning signs that you're gonna buy him and then think
- 25:00Speaker 2: you have to play him because you invested enough in him,
- 25:04Speaker 2: and that's I just can't do that. I am avoiding
- 25:06Speaker 2: him like the plague. Somebody else can go on that
- 25:08Speaker 2: joy ride, but it's gonna come crashing down.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I think that's fair. Yes, especially change up first. Guys
- 25:16Speaker 1: do kind of scare me for a year over year stuff.
- 25:19Speaker 3: You're buying twenty four value and he's never going to
- 25:22Speaker 3: return that again. Last year was the year to pick
- 25:24Speaker 3: him up.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Correct. He did that and then he trailed off, but
- 25:29Speaker 2: the overall line still looks intriguing enough, and he got
- 25:34Speaker 2: It's the wins. I think they kind of trick people
- 25:36Speaker 2: to a degree. He had thirteen years just like hey,
- 25:39Speaker 2: this can work. It's like, yeah, it works when you
- 25:41Speaker 2: have a job, and I'm not convinced he's going to
- 25:43Speaker 2: have a job.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no, all right, I'll go ahead.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Sorry, oh oh yeah. I was going to go into myself,
- 25:51Speaker 1: but mine is Josh Hater. So he's going off the
- 25:55Speaker 1: board around pick forty. It's just mostly like this is
- 25:58Speaker 1: another guy who kind of faded down the stretch, and
- 26:01Speaker 1: you can see it right in like his monthly splits
- 26:04Speaker 1: the K minus b B. I mean the first month
- 26:06Speaker 1: was a little rough as I think he was getting
- 26:08Speaker 1: used to Houston, but it started fading like the he
- 26:11Speaker 1: was walking more guys, striking out fewer guys throughout the season.
- 26:16Speaker 1: And then this is another one where I look at
- 26:18Speaker 1: the player raider compared to the ADP data, he's just
- 26:21Speaker 1: going about twenty picks ahead of where the player raider
- 26:24Speaker 1: hasn't projected for. Obviously, you're trying to chase that closer
- 26:28Speaker 1: to be able to lock that in. Saves are quite
- 26:31Speaker 1: the bear to pick up in any NFBC draft, but
- 26:35Speaker 1: I think you can just do better. Like in terms
- 26:37Speaker 1: of guys going around him in the closing spot, Mason
- 26:40Speaker 1: Miller is going kind of just right after him. I'd
- 26:43Speaker 1: much you'd rather go that route, yes, that like I
- 26:46Speaker 1: think you're looking at Josh Hader. He's got a lot
- 26:48Speaker 1: of mileage on that arm. He's over thirty years old.
- 26:52Speaker 1: And what also just gives me worries is you got
- 26:54Speaker 1: Brian A Bray you sitting right there that if anything
- 26:57Speaker 1: goes off the rails for Josh Hader, Houston, with how
- 27:00Speaker 1: tight this al Wes could be, could move on. I
- 27:04Speaker 1: think even given what they're paying Hater to be able
- 27:06Speaker 1: to kind of get him right the way that Milwaukee
- 27:09Speaker 1: and San Diego have done in the past. So I'm
- 27:12Speaker 1: selling hater for all those factors.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Such a hater seriously, Well, he's he has shown a
- 27:21Speaker 3: lot of openings in his armor the last few years.
- 27:24Speaker 3: He's not the closer that he was in Milwaukee three
- 27:27Speaker 3: four years ago. And it feels to me like Craig
- 27:30Speaker 3: Kimberl or why can't I think of the boy Henley Janssen,
- 27:36Speaker 3: Where which which version are you going to get? The
- 27:38Speaker 3: odd year version or the even year version? Because it
- 27:40Speaker 3: seems like there's this roller coaster that they go on,
- 27:43Speaker 3: and so yeah, the Hater's a tough one to pick
- 27:47Speaker 3: for that. So I appreciate you saying.
- 27:48Speaker 2: That he's you talk about the roller coaster. If you
- 27:52Speaker 2: look at his splits by month last year, it was six,
- 27:56Speaker 2: e're of six, e're of one, you're a of three,
- 27:58Speaker 2: you're a of five, you're a blow one, you're of six,
- 28:01Speaker 2: Like it it was just a I mean, it was
- 28:04Speaker 2: just a roller coaster. Like you just didn't. I mean,
- 28:06Speaker 2: he didn't. Nobody knows where it's going. That's the good news.
- 28:09Speaker 2: But the problem he's part of, He's part of nobody,
- 28:12Speaker 2: Like you don't know where it's going either, So right, yeah,
- 28:15Speaker 2: I love the Craig Camerl Kendley Jansen comparison because, like
- 28:18Speaker 2: it is, it's teetering, like at some point haters gonna
- 28:21Speaker 2: fall into that. He's going to keep being the closer
- 28:23Speaker 2: because of what he did and what he can do.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Okay, Well, let's move on to those prospect picks to click,
- 28:29Speaker 1: because Houston's a fascinating system for this and it's got
- 28:32Speaker 1: like some talent, but it's not it's drying up pretty fast.
- 28:36Speaker 1: So uh, let's hone in on what picks we might have. Sam,
- 28:40Speaker 1: I'll pass over you for years.
- 28:41Speaker 3: First, Well, I had a couple listed, but I think
- 28:44Speaker 3: it's it's it's Cam Smith the I believe he came
- 28:47Speaker 3: over from Chicago in that trade. You know. I've Houston
- 28:53Speaker 3: in the teens had just a phenomenal development organization as
- 28:58Speaker 3: they went through and redid the whole thing and that
- 29:00Speaker 3: foundation that they have now and I haven't seen a
- 29:02Speaker 3: lot of their young players really come into their own
- 29:05Speaker 3: and play in Houston. Well, Jordan Alvarez is the last
- 29:10Speaker 3: big name I feel like we've seen that was homegrown
- 29:12Speaker 3: from them, So I don't have a huge expectation, but
- 29:15Speaker 3: I think that there might be opportunities with some of
- 29:19Speaker 3: the players that they have. Maurice Dubon, is he going
- 29:22Speaker 3: to hold up all year? They've got some questions at
- 29:26Speaker 3: the end of their lineup. He gets a chance, he
- 29:29Speaker 3: could catch lightning in a bottle and show out. I
- 29:32Speaker 3: don't think he's going to be somebody who ends up
- 29:35Speaker 3: being a top one hundred hundred and fifty pick next year,
- 29:38Speaker 3: but you could see Cam Smith if he's given a
- 29:40Speaker 3: chance becomes a top two hundred two fifty pick next year,
- 29:43Speaker 3: that people want to see him.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Yeah. I think this is a great pick. I think
- 29:46Speaker 1: like especially when it came to first year player drafts
- 29:50Speaker 1: last year, he was fourteenth off the board for the
- 29:52Speaker 1: Cubs in that first round. But I mean, I think
- 29:54Speaker 1: he was one of those guys for Fantasy where I
- 29:58Speaker 1: was moving him up because the hit to a supreme
- 30:01Speaker 1: and I think, uh, there's if they if Houston hack
- 30:05Speaker 1: gotten somebody like Smith back for Tucker, they might not
- 30:09Speaker 1: have made that trade. But when you're getting all of
- 30:11Speaker 1: those years of Cam Smith, it made it a lot
- 30:14Speaker 1: easier to swallow. Yep, all right, Jeremie, who's your pick?
- 30:19Speaker 2: Yeah? So I had cam Smith was my second. I
- 30:23Speaker 2: almost put him the first, but I'm like, I know
- 30:25Speaker 2: somebody else is gonna claim it, so I'll let it
- 30:26Speaker 2: go elsewhere. And I'm going to the pure spirit of
- 30:30Speaker 2: what we've talked about with prospects. Pick the click and
- 30:32Speaker 2: the guy that's gonna I think is gonna get valued.
- 30:34Speaker 2: I don't know if he's gonna hit the majors this year.
- 30:37Speaker 2: And this is a thin system, so like this might
- 30:39Speaker 2: not be the same as other team, but I'm going
- 30:41Speaker 2: with Luis and Carnassion from the Astros here first basement
- 30:46Speaker 2: of the system got to double A last year, and
- 30:49Speaker 2: I just really like the steady, good hitter he is.
- 30:53Speaker 2: He's not a crazy hitter. He's not gonna go above
- 30:57Speaker 2: and beyond across nighty one games last year he had
- 30:59Speaker 2: fifteen homers. He hit two sixty seven. But what I
- 31:03Speaker 2: liked is he had a k rate under twenty, was
- 31:07Speaker 2: really able to control the bat, and he when he
- 31:10Speaker 2: got to double A, he was not overmatched at all.
- 31:13Speaker 2: He had eleven games, he hit four homers. He showed
- 31:17Speaker 2: that plate discipline and he showed that he has that
- 31:19Speaker 2: next gear potentially in the power. We're talking probably a
- 31:22Speaker 2: quarner infielder when he makes his way up to Houston.
- 31:26Speaker 2: But I think he's one of those guys that has
- 31:28Speaker 2: a sneaky profile that's really developed coming out of the
- 31:31Speaker 2: development complex and the Dominican and you know, making it
- 31:34Speaker 2: over to the minor League's there for Houston. So I
- 31:36Speaker 2: think he's kind of one of those sneaky guys and
- 31:38Speaker 2: all of a sudden, you're gonna look up and when
- 31:40Speaker 2: he gets called up, look at what he did in
- 31:41Speaker 2: the miners, be like, wait a second, he was doing
- 31:44Speaker 2: really really well. I need to I need to pay attention.
- 31:47Speaker 2: So I think he's a sneaky value. I like that
- 31:51Speaker 2: deep cut. I had to look him up.
- 31:53Speaker 3: I'm raful too, because that's I'm a prospect guy and
- 31:56Speaker 3: I was like, who.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Yeah, shortking five foot nine for spaceman.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Yeah, It's like it's just it's not like it's blown
- 32:03Speaker 2: anybody away here. We're talking like a future DH type
- 32:06Speaker 2: of thing here.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Uh, but you've got a love of right handed bat
- 32:10Speaker 1: in what is the ballpark now, daikin or it's not.
- 32:14Speaker 1: I'm I still called say that.
- 32:21Speaker 2: We're just gonna go back to minime to move on
- 32:22Speaker 2: with life.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, and Ron and Ron forever on fields, Okay,
- 32:28Speaker 1: love it. My pick to click here is Bryce Matthews
- 32:31Speaker 1: because I think he so he was their first round
- 32:34Speaker 1: pick in twenty twenty three, had a pretty solid year
- 32:37Speaker 1: last year across four levels.
- 32:40Speaker 2: It looks like, well, I think the.
- 32:41Speaker 1: US there's a little bit of rehab time down at
- 32:43Speaker 1: the complex, but across High A, Double A, Triple A.
- 32:47Speaker 1: You know, got twelve games at Triple A he hit
- 32:50Speaker 1: two sixty five, three eighty four, four eighty one with
- 32:53Speaker 1: fifteen homers and thirty two stolen bases. That's only over
- 32:58Speaker 1: three hundred and forty four played appearances. So he certainly
- 33:02Speaker 1: he's a strong hitter coming out of Nebraska. And what
- 33:05Speaker 1: it actually reminds me of is, I think, especially rounding
- 33:09Speaker 1: into next year, is that he's do you remember that
- 33:12Speaker 1: year that where Jeremy Payna showed up to camp and
- 33:17Speaker 1: everyone's like, this guy is going to be the shortstop
- 33:19Speaker 1: and then he obviously broke out pretty big. Bryce Matthews
- 33:22Speaker 1: reminds me a lot of that in terms of, you know,
- 33:24Speaker 1: a middling strikeout rate in the minors, but has the
- 33:28Speaker 1: right tools to put it together. The nice thing is
- 33:30Speaker 1: that Matthews also has the pathway two second base if
- 33:33Speaker 1: al Tuovey moves to the outfield, because I don't think
- 33:36Speaker 1: he's quite the same defender Painia was coming up, but
- 33:40Speaker 1: I think a lot of the same skill sets where
- 33:42Speaker 1: you're looking at somebody who at peak is going to
- 33:44Speaker 1: be something like a twenty fifteen or maybe even more
- 33:47Speaker 1: like a twenty twenty twenty twenty five guy, because Matthews
- 33:50Speaker 1: runs a little bit more than Penia ever did. Never
- 33:53Speaker 1: going to be a huge batting average asset, but I
- 33:56Speaker 1: think just a really sneaky kind of power speed combo
- 34:01Speaker 1: up the middle that I love everything that I've seen
- 34:03Speaker 1: in Bryce Matthews' profile, and I think he's not quite
- 34:08Speaker 1: as high on dynasy list as as you would expect
- 34:10Speaker 1: for that, but I think this is the year that
- 34:12Speaker 1: he really cements that and rises up.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Well, you know, you bring up the k rate, and
- 34:17Speaker 3: he's got a high walk and a high k rate
- 34:19Speaker 3: as a prospect, and so if he can, if he
- 34:21Speaker 3: can get some control in that batter's box, he could
- 34:24Speaker 3: do some real damage. I could see him easily be
- 34:26Speaker 3: in a twenty thirty, fifteen to twenty five kind of
- 34:29Speaker 3: a player. So I like that call.
- 34:33Speaker 1: All right, well, we are going to move out of
- 34:36Speaker 1: Houston and get actually onto the west coast as we're
- 34:40Speaker 1: going to go to Orange County for the Los Angeles
- 34:43Speaker 1: Angels of Anaheim of California, whatever they are called. I'm
- 34:49Speaker 1: waiting for it to change here. You know, they've been
- 34:51Speaker 1: running with this name now for a handful of years.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's time to change it again. But I think this
- 34:56Speaker 1: is more of the same for the Angels coming into
- 34:59Speaker 1: twenty twenty five, where kind of a confounding team roster
- 35:03Speaker 1: in construction. It will be Anthony Rendoneless, we know that.
- 35:06Speaker 1: But Mike Trout is back. Crushed a homer yesterday. My
- 35:10Speaker 1: boy Tim Anderson crushed a homer today for the Angels.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Jan Mancata is down with muscle soreness for the Angels,
- 35:16Speaker 1: so he's doing his thing. But it is a team
- 35:20Speaker 1: that is like it's the perpetual, like you're just kind
- 35:24Speaker 1: of like it's like a ship of thesis where like
- 35:28Speaker 1: you're but you're moving with the Angels and it never
- 35:31Speaker 1: seems to work out somehow Ardie Marino keeps putting in
- 35:34Speaker 1: more and more money to this team, but will never
- 35:37Speaker 1: kind of like go to that next level. And so
- 35:41Speaker 1: I don't have great hopes for the Angels in the
- 35:43Speaker 1: AOS this year, but I think it's a fascinating team
- 35:45Speaker 1: because what I've also discovered in the past couple of years,
- 35:49Speaker 1: the ballpark plays really hot at the beginning of the year.
- 35:52Speaker 1: You'll see it whenever you look at like the stat
- 35:54Speaker 1: cast metrics when they come out like part way through
- 35:56Speaker 1: the year that I think it just plays warm down
- 35:59Speaker 1: in Anaheim. And so that's something to certainly I try
- 36:02Speaker 1: to take advantage of early in the year. But given
- 36:05Speaker 1: all that, Sam, I'm going to pass it over to you.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Who is your bye here from the Angels?
- 36:11Speaker 3: Well, you know, it's really interesting. The Angels don't have
- 36:13Speaker 3: a single player that has an average draft position above
- 36:17Speaker 3: one hundred. They start out at one twenty with Logan Oha,
- 36:21Speaker 3: one two with Mike Trout has fallen to one hundred
- 36:25Speaker 3: and twenty two ADP, which means he is my click
- 36:29Speaker 3: to pick. How when has Mike Trout been a ninth
- 36:32Speaker 3: round pick ever? Like this is this is just beautiful
- 36:35Speaker 3: and gorgeous, and I really think that show Hay's gone there.
- 36:41Speaker 3: It's a it's a ship of fools like that, that
- 36:43Speaker 3: whole roster you you literally picked up the players that
- 36:47Speaker 3: the White Sox didn't want. And I'll just you can
- 36:49Speaker 3: think on that for a few minutes, right, Like that's
- 36:51Speaker 3: just I don't know what Ardie Moreno's doing. Also, but
- 36:55Speaker 3: I think this is the year that Mike Trout doesn't
- 36:57Speaker 3: have a lot of pressure on him, and I think
- 36:59Speaker 3: that he's going to be able to return, probably play
- 37:01Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty games. I'm thinking he's gonna hit
- 37:04Speaker 3: thirty home runs. He might not be stealing as much
- 37:07Speaker 3: as he did before. He might get ten stolen bases
- 37:09Speaker 3: this year. I don't think that they're gonna want to
- 37:11Speaker 3: run with him, But I think that Mike Trout in
- 37:14Speaker 3: that lineup will still produce counting numbers. I think he'll
- 37:16Speaker 3: still hit for an average and power is hard to
- 37:20Speaker 3: come by in some roster builds, and so I think
- 37:24Speaker 3: he could be a surprising source at home runs this year.
- 37:26Speaker 3: I mean, I know, Mike Trout is supposed to be
- 37:29Speaker 3: that perennial thirty home run guy a season when he's
- 37:32Speaker 3: healthy and plays the whole thing, But I think that
- 37:35Speaker 3: this is the year. If you've never had a share
- 37:37Speaker 3: of Mike Trout, this is the year to get a
- 37:39Speaker 3: share of Mike Trout.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I couldn't agree more because he was also my bye
- 37:44Speaker 2: for almost exactly the same reasons. Yes, I was gonna
- 37:47Speaker 2: make some joke about Anthony Rendome McCool you ruined that one,
- 37:50Speaker 2: but you're absolutely right, Like I feel like the market's
- 37:54Speaker 2: finally overswung on Mike Trout. They went the other way
- 37:58Speaker 2: and they've Mike Trout. Could you said thirty? He could
- 38:01Speaker 2: hit forty without blinking an eye. And you know, we
- 38:06Speaker 2: talked about this a few weeks ago on the pod
- 38:09Speaker 2: when they announced that he's gonna play right field, and
- 38:12Speaker 2: for me, that was like the biggest thing in the world.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Like the Angels finally admitted they need to take care
- 38:17Speaker 2: of Mike Trout. Like like the Angels, I mean, that's
- 38:21Speaker 2: their admission, like that, like they they were whatever, actually
- 38:24Speaker 2: gonna say it. But like the fact that they're willing
- 38:27Speaker 2: to do that tells me they're actually gonna care about
- 38:30Speaker 2: the guy now, Like last year he went out Gangbusters,
- 38:33Speaker 2: the guy running Wild and things like that, Like he's
- 38:35Speaker 2: still gonna proably it's Mike Trout, He's still probably gonna
- 38:37Speaker 2: do that, but like maybe just cool it slightly and
- 38:41Speaker 2: hit forty bombs and knocking one hundred and ten RBIs
- 38:44Speaker 2: and be happy, like right, and you get that ADP
- 38:48Speaker 2: of one oh five one one, whatever metric you're looking at,
- 38:51Speaker 2: it's great. I will take it. So yeah, especially for
- 38:55Speaker 2: a draft like me who's a little more conservative in
- 38:56Speaker 2: the early rounds, I'm looking for high floor things like that.
- 38:59Speaker 2: You you get there around like eight, nine, ten, and you're like,
- 39:03Speaker 2: Mike Trout, that's my risk. Sure, Like I'm I'm going
- 39:08Speaker 2: over that cause I Mike Trout. The risk isn't is
- 39:10Speaker 2: he gonna be good. It's because he's gonna play, and
- 39:13Speaker 2: I can. I can work around that. I can pick
- 39:15Speaker 2: up another guy to plug in. What I can't work
- 39:18Speaker 2: around is picking a guy that's gonna go up and down.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I'm gonna be having a pitch hick hot streaks, Mike Trout,
- 39:22Speaker 2: He's ever not played.
- 39:24Speaker 3: The only thing that concerned me again is these moves
- 39:27Speaker 3: at the front office made that. You know, they picked
- 39:29Speaker 3: up Kenlly Jansen when Ben Joyce was sitting right there.
- 39:32Speaker 3: They brought in Jorge Celaire and it's like, you don't
- 39:36Speaker 3: need another d h outfielder. You literally, that's the wrong
- 39:40Speaker 3: person to sign. So like, I can't help but to
- 39:43Speaker 3: think the Angels are gonna Angel and ruin another season
- 39:45Speaker 3: of Mike Trout. But man, my fingers are crossed. Super hopeful.
- 39:50Speaker 2: We're picking We're picking up the littlest indications here. It's
- 39:55Speaker 2: all ask him for his hope. Hope in fantasy can
- 39:58Speaker 2: be a strategy.
- 40:00Speaker 3: Hope is what Kilsey in the end, man.
- 40:04Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I think this was a great pick.
- 40:06Speaker 1: He was in my consideration, but I figured somebody would
- 40:08Speaker 1: grab him, especially after that right field move. I'm going
- 40:12Speaker 1: to go with some of the One of the guys
- 40:13Speaker 1: that we have denigrated a little bit, it is Kenley
- 40:16Speaker 1: Jansen is my buy here, mostly because like the price
- 40:20Speaker 1: is right here too. In terms of the ADP is
- 40:23Speaker 1: starting to creep up now that he has a team
- 40:25Speaker 1: and a job. But like average ADP over the last
- 40:28Speaker 1: month is one sixty three, it ranges from one eighteen
- 40:32Speaker 1: to two thirty. But like other closers in that range,
- 40:36Speaker 1: Ryan Presley, Kirby Yates, we're looking at the likes of
- 40:42Speaker 1: Carlos Estevez and Jordan Romano, so it's not exactly like
- 40:49Speaker 1: the Great Spot of Closers. But like the reason Kenley
- 40:53Speaker 1: Jansen went to the Angels is because this dude is
- 40:56Speaker 1: chasing the Hall of Fame in five hundred saves and
- 40:59Speaker 1: are Moreno said, yep, Kenley, you can come in here
- 41:02Speaker 1: and save as many games as you want. And so
- 41:04Speaker 1: because of that, like we do play in fantasy leagues
- 41:08Speaker 1: that need saves, I think this is of all those
- 41:11Speaker 1: guys I listed off, this was the best bet to
- 41:13Speaker 1: get thirty saves. I think that that's where Jansen's probably headed,
- 41:17Speaker 1: and if they want to sell them at the deadline,
- 41:20Speaker 1: he just goes to another situation that I think, you know,
- 41:23Speaker 1: creates a team that's actually winning more than the Angels.
- 41:27Speaker 1: At least the Angels are like the beIN games, I think.
- 41:30Speaker 1: And so that's why I'm buying Kenley Jenson. I think
- 41:33Speaker 1: just the where he's going amongst the closer pool, it's
- 41:37Speaker 1: just a great price to try to find thirty saves.
- 41:41Speaker 3: I really I agree with that. There seems to be
- 41:44Speaker 3: this thing with managers that they want closers to close,
- 41:47Speaker 3: that they don't want necessarily new names. And so as
- 41:49Speaker 3: much as this could have been an opportunity for Ben Joyce.
- 41:51Speaker 3: I think that you're right. Injury is the only thing
- 41:54Speaker 3: that keeps Kenley Jansen from hitting thirty saves.
- 41:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:57Speaker 2: I want to argue with you, but but it's a
- 42:00Speaker 2: volume play here. The only thing I don't like is
- 42:03Speaker 2: you said Ardie Marina would say, come save all the
- 42:05Speaker 2: games you want. Like, the Angels have to actually be
- 42:08Speaker 2: in a few games here for that to happen. But
- 42:11Speaker 2: you know, between Mike Trout and Kenley Jansen, it sounds
- 42:14Speaker 2: like the Angels are going to take the world by
- 42:16Speaker 2: storm this year.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they're coming for you.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Yeah, You're about to witness like double digit Kyle Hendricks
- 42:24Speaker 1: to Kenley Jansen shutouts. So it's coming, buddy, Like I
- 42:28Speaker 1: can see it. I can see it all right, Sam.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Who is your cell from the Angels?
- 42:32Speaker 3: Any of their pictures?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Short?
- 42:34Speaker 2: You say?
- 42:35Speaker 3: Kakuchi? Who? I think he's finally Toronto brought a little
- 42:40Speaker 3: bit out of him, and he seemed to settle down
- 42:42Speaker 3: last year in Houston when he was with the Mariners.
- 42:44Speaker 3: Anytime he was in any kind of big situation, runners
- 42:47Speaker 3: on bass, I need to protect the league. He always
- 42:50Speaker 3: seemed to get out of his head and kind of
- 42:52Speaker 3: not do what he was supposed to do. I think
- 42:54Speaker 3: he's actually going to be an anchor for that rotation
- 42:56Speaker 3: this year. But I don't want a piece of any
- 42:59Speaker 3: of the Angels others starters. I don't. I don't want
- 43:02Speaker 3: them for anything. I don't want them for drafting holds.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I don't want them for you know, your typical NFBC content.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Like I just.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Somebody else can draft them.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I think that's fair. It's a it's not a great rotation.
- 43:16Speaker 1: After Kakuchi, you're looking at Jose Siriano, Tyler Anderson, Kyle Hendricks,
- 43:22Speaker 1: Read Deebt Meers. All those guys have their warts and
- 43:25Speaker 1: ups and downs. And I think the other factor here
- 43:27Speaker 1: is there's a lot of good pictures coming through the system.
- 43:31Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if we see three or four
- 43:33Speaker 1: of those guys not have jobs just a couple months
- 43:36Speaker 1: into the season.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I really wanted to argue with you, Sam here because
- 43:40Speaker 2: I just like to do so. And I went down
- 43:42Speaker 2: the whole list of pictures and the first guy that
- 43:44Speaker 2: like that sounds interesting was an ADP seven fifty with
- 43:47Speaker 2: Robert Stevenson. But that was just because of the Kinley
- 43:50Speaker 2: Jansen like, I think Robert Stevens is a better picture
- 43:52Speaker 2: when healthy, if he gets healthy at some point in September.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Like so, I'm like, if i'm if I'm looking at
- 43:58Speaker 2: like a sixty day I l guy to put on
- 44:00Speaker 2: my bench to hopefully become a closer in September as
- 44:04Speaker 2: my buye of that rotation and bullpen. I think you
- 44:08Speaker 2: make a very valid point.
- 44:09Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, all right, who's your cell here, Jamie.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm selling all the tools in the world here
- 44:16Speaker 2: in Joe Adele. No, it's no, it's absolutely so you're out.
- 44:22Speaker 1: You're out. I'm telling I'm telling Gray, You're going to
- 44:25Speaker 1: be being from Rasball. I don't think this is allowed.
- 44:28Speaker 3: Wait, is there something I need to know about, like
- 44:30Speaker 3: a Joe Adell LoveFest? Because Joe Adele is the best
- 44:33Speaker 3: for a player I've ever seen. He will never be
- 44:37Speaker 3: a major league player. He will always be just right there.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Just not it is. He is a little bit of
- 44:46Speaker 1: like a Rasball special. Marmo's dad loves him as well.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I love him.
- 44:50Speaker 2: But yeah, you can.
- 44:51Speaker 1: You can try them through.
- 44:52Speaker 2: The I don't. I don't drink the Rasball kool aid.
- 44:56Speaker 2: I got ostracized years ago for my alderb to Mondy
- 45:01Speaker 2: hate when Gray loved him, and I think I've never
- 45:03Speaker 2: been fully invited back onto the island. This is the
- 45:06Speaker 2: same though, That's why this is exactly the same thing.
- 45:10Speaker 2: And you know, this is a guy that his best
- 45:14Speaker 2: half of baseball last year he hit two thirty nine
- 45:17Speaker 2: with five homers. That was the second half, because he's
- 45:19Speaker 2: only played forty three games his first half. He's hit
- 45:22Speaker 2: one ninety with fifteen homers. The guy was caught stealing
- 45:27Speaker 2: ten times last year and twenty five attempts. Like he's
- 45:30Speaker 2: a terrible bass dealer. He can't hit for average, Like,
- 45:34Speaker 2: so what are we buying here?
- 45:36Speaker 3: Or look good in a uniform? Have you seen that
- 45:39Speaker 3: man's physique? I don't necessarily like men. And he's beautiful.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Yeah, great on a baseball card as well?
- 45:46Speaker 3: Yeah absolutely as it Probably a top notch human beat.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Probably just loves his mom, does charity work in his neighborhood,
- 45:53Speaker 3: Like I'm expecting Joe adell as just this wonderful, wonderful
- 45:57Speaker 3: human beat.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Yes, but he's the kind of guy all year long
- 46:00Speaker 2: you pull your hair out, you think something can happen.
- 46:02Speaker 2: He hits three homers, still those five bases in a
- 46:05Speaker 2: week and you're like, here he is, and then he
- 46:07Speaker 2: hits nothing for the next month, Like and you just
- 46:10Speaker 2: happen to bench him for that one guy that one
- 46:12Speaker 2: day because he happen to be playing interleague in Colorado. Right.
- 46:15Speaker 2: It's it's one of those weird things that I'm just like,
- 46:18Speaker 2: I don't care what he does. I'm fine being wrong.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Like that's that's what I feel like with Joe Deell.
- 46:23Speaker 2: If he goes fifty to fifty, I'm still sitting there
- 46:26Speaker 2: going I have don't want no part of it because
- 46:28Speaker 2: it's just Joe Adell. It is just too much risk
- 46:31Speaker 2: for me. So Cooley, are you buying Jodell? Is that
- 46:34Speaker 2: what I'm hearing?
- 46:36Speaker 1: It's I don't mind the price. It's like an average
- 46:38Speaker 1: pick of two eighty three that at that point you're
- 46:40Speaker 1: like eighteenth, nineteenth round, especially if you're in a league
- 46:44Speaker 1: where you can drop people that, Yeah, I'm picking up
- 46:46Speaker 1: Joe Dell because.
- 46:47Speaker 2: That's like saying there's a I would like, I can,
- 46:49Speaker 2: I can I met my deductible, so give me a coronary.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Like it doesn't, it doesn't make it better.
- 46:54Speaker 1: It's it's mostly like the price is like when you're
- 46:58Speaker 1: chasing that ceiling. Like, sure it was like rough on
- 47:03Speaker 1: the batting average obviously, but let me see what he
- 47:06Speaker 1: clocked in on our player Rayl last year there that
- 47:08Speaker 1: season in a fifteen team team or I'm just even
- 47:12Speaker 1: a twelve team league. He I mean brought back two
- 47:15Speaker 1: dollars of value. So like what it is mostly is
- 47:18Speaker 1: like but like that's not where you're drafting him, Like
- 47:22Speaker 1: it's gonna be like a five to ten dollars player,
- 47:25Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like there's a factor of
- 47:27Speaker 1: like you also just need steals and homers at some point,
- 47:31Speaker 1: and like I'm willing to sacrifice that batting average to
- 47:34Speaker 1: chase that a little bit with him and love the
- 47:37Speaker 1: home park. It is just like it's a lot of
- 47:40Speaker 1: those factors come together where I'm just not sure, like
- 47:43Speaker 1: who else in that range can give me this kind
- 47:46Speaker 1: of season and push it to like a twenty twenty season.
- 47:50Speaker 2: I can go on and on. Sam, you jump in
- 47:52Speaker 2: and tell him why he's wrong.
- 47:54Speaker 3: Well, I'm just curious, Like, so you would take Joe
- 47:57Speaker 3: Adell over in a draft over Roman Anthony.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Probably honestly because of like unless at this point, yes,
- 48:07Speaker 1: because I want Roman Anthony to have a job, but
- 48:10Speaker 1: give me another one.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Well, I'm looking around him. There's Jordan Walker, there's Matt Wallner,
- 48:15Speaker 3: there's Evan Carter, there's by You, there's Luke Rayley. Like
- 48:21Speaker 3: they're all just tough names to want to get into.
- 48:25Speaker 3: I almost want to skip down past them. They've got
- 48:27Speaker 3: Heston Keirstead, Trevor Larnick, Yes, Dylan Moore Andy, I'd even
- 48:34Speaker 3: take Ben Attendy boring, asked Ben Attendy from from the
- 48:37Speaker 3: White Sox, because.
- 48:38Speaker 2: He did break he just got hurts so much.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Maybe because John Kenzie, Okay, I take I'd take John Kenzie,
- 48:46Speaker 3: Noel over Adell okay.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Maybe it is also like because I think there it's
- 48:51Speaker 1: just in leagues. He falls to me, like I'm looking
- 48:55Speaker 1: at the DC that we did from first picture a Zona.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I took him in the twenty fourth round, Like you
- 49:01Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like at that point, if somebody
- 49:05Speaker 1: in the twenty fourth round he went right next to
- 49:07Speaker 1: Tremor Larnak, Like that's kind of what I'm looking at.
- 49:12Speaker 1: And in our league where I have the share to Jeremy,
- 49:14Speaker 1: it's a pretty it's autoue, it's pretty deep. Like yeah,
- 49:17Speaker 1: I'm just looking for something, and so I'm not like
- 49:20Speaker 1: investing heavily because I'm ready to cut loose when he's terrible.
- 49:25Speaker 1: But I recognize that, like I'm chasing the upside here, well.
- 49:29Speaker 3: And I do. I in all fairness, I want to
- 49:31Speaker 3: say that if he gets to five hundred at bats
- 49:33Speaker 3: this season, he will be valuable just simply because he
- 49:37Speaker 3: got the time in and he will hit home runs
- 49:39Speaker 3: and he will steal bases. But I just, you know,
- 49:43Speaker 3: I don't know. The Angels are so dysfunctional. I shouldn't
- 49:46Speaker 3: say he's going to play himself out of playing time.
- 49:48Speaker 3: They kept trying to put Rendon on that field.
- 49:50Speaker 2: So like it's like Adele looks so amazing. The Angels
- 49:54Speaker 2: are like, we need you to get some more seasoning
- 49:56Speaker 2: in the minors, and now that he looks terrible, we
- 49:59Speaker 2: need to try to get you tested and played the majors.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Like it's the Angels we just don't understand.
- 50:06Speaker 1: All right, that was a good Joe Adell sidetrack, But
- 50:09Speaker 1: I loved it. Sorry, Joe, Yeah, sorry, I'm gonna go
- 50:15Speaker 1: with my celf Mine's. Actually this is a weird sell
- 50:18Speaker 1: because I like him as a player, and I just
- 50:20Speaker 1: don't like the price. It's Logan o'happy and mostly because
- 50:24Speaker 1: we've kind of breached this a little bit over the offseason.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Brew in terms of catchers deeper than you would think
- 50:31Speaker 1: it it usually is. And so like what you're looking
- 50:34Speaker 1: at with o'hapi is a lot of is he's struggled
- 50:37Speaker 1: to stay on the field between like he had that
- 50:41Speaker 1: gruesome shoulder injury a couple of years ago. Last year
- 50:44Speaker 1: he was battling some injuries as well, So like he
- 50:47Speaker 1: gets nicked and knacked a lot behind the plate, but
- 50:49Speaker 1: on top of it, like he's right now the ninth
- 50:52Speaker 1: catcher off the board. That's in front of the likes
- 50:55Speaker 1: of J. T Rail, Mudo, Tyler Stevenson, who we talked
- 50:58Speaker 1: about being great last week, even Francisco Alvarez, who's got
- 51:02Speaker 1: a better hitting like prospect pedigree than all HOPI ever did.
- 51:06Speaker 1: In front of Gabriel Moreno, Austin Wells, Sean Murphy, Connor
- 51:11Speaker 1: Wong is maybe like where it's starting to get a
- 51:13Speaker 1: little dicey, But it's just the price. I don't think
- 51:15Speaker 1: he's a top ten catcher. He's more of like a
- 51:19Speaker 1: twelfth best catcher for me.
- 51:20Speaker 2: And so like he's going.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Especially, I can't believe like you would be sitting there
- 51:25Speaker 1: looking at him and g Trail Muto and thinking, hey,
- 51:29Speaker 1: I want Logan o'happy over real Muto who has done
- 51:32Speaker 1: it so many years previously. And like I said, we
- 51:35Speaker 1: covered Stevenson last week in our NL Central preview. That
- 51:38Speaker 1: just great bell rates And yeah, when you factor in
- 51:41Speaker 1: the angels of it all, what do you fully can
- 51:45Speaker 1: you really guarantee what o'happy's counting stats are gonna be
- 51:48Speaker 1: in that lineup? And so it's just the price. I
- 51:51Speaker 1: love the player, I love him if you've got shares
- 51:53Speaker 1: and dynasties and keepers, but if you're in a redraft
- 51:55Speaker 1: league right now, it's just a little rich.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I think his draft position is only on his
- 52:02Speaker 3: upside that he hasn't he hasn't given us that yet.
- 52:08Speaker 3: He's a top two hundred overall pick. He's not, you know,
- 52:11Speaker 3: one of the first catchers off the Board's he's your
- 52:14Speaker 3: catcher too.
- 52:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean he's going in the top one twenty
- 52:18Speaker 1: right now.
- 52:18Speaker 2: No, that's crazy. I feel like any picture in the
- 52:21Speaker 2: next one hundred picks is like, yeah, they're all relatively
- 52:25Speaker 2: similar as far as what you're hoping to get So
- 52:28Speaker 2: he's just he's going a little too early. Maybe it's like, hey,
- 52:31Speaker 2: what else is on the Angels? Might we'll pick one
- 52:33Speaker 2: of them?
- 52:33Speaker 1: So yeah, exactly. Okay, Well let's get into some picks
- 52:36Speaker 1: to click, because this is a fascinating system, given the
- 52:40Speaker 1: way that they promote prospects throughout and just fast track them. So, Sam,
- 52:45Speaker 1: who are you going with on the Angels?
- 52:49Speaker 3: You know, I thought a lot about Caden Dana the
- 52:51Speaker 3: picture that they have, but I went with their second
- 52:54Speaker 3: basement Christian Moore. Seems like there's not a lot of
- 52:58Speaker 3: talent to stop him from coming up. I mean, they
- 53:02Speaker 3: could play him at second They might be able to
- 53:03Speaker 3: play him in the outfield if they needed to bring
- 53:05Speaker 3: him up. You know. He Yeah, he's got a high
- 53:11Speaker 3: k rate. So it's not my favorite. I don't like
- 53:14Speaker 3: their system a whole lot. To be perfectly honest, I
- 53:17Speaker 3: don't mean to be such an Angel's hater and apology
- 53:19Speaker 3: the listeners that love the Angels. I'm just not your guy.
- 53:23Speaker 3: But I think if there's anybody that's going to break out,
- 53:25Speaker 3: he's the top prospect in that organization, and they've always
- 53:30Speaker 3: shown a willingness to play their play, their prospects, and
- 53:33Speaker 3: so I think he could be the person that comes
- 53:36Speaker 3: up and does something.
- 53:38Speaker 1: I like this pick. Yeah, the only thing standing between
- 53:40Speaker 1: him and a job right now is Yon Mancatta.
- 53:42Speaker 3: So like I said, there's not a lot going on.
- 53:46Speaker 2: Yeah, if you look at the system and there's like
- 53:48Speaker 2: one guy that looks like he could just jump tears,
- 53:52Speaker 2: and we're looking at him and be like, why didn't
- 53:55Speaker 2: we see this coming? Like even though we see it coming,
- 53:58Speaker 2: like what he could be, it was just phenomenal. He
- 54:00Speaker 2: was my pick as well, and the system is then,
- 54:05Speaker 2: but like he was head and shoulders above that. And like,
- 54:08Speaker 2: if there's like I said, if there's one guy that
- 54:10Speaker 2: really is interesting in the system, it's more because he
- 54:14Speaker 2: could absolutely bust on the scene and do do damage
- 54:18Speaker 2: for sure.
- 54:18Speaker 1: Ye yeah, I'm going with a little bit of a
- 54:22Speaker 1: deeper cut. But also is just their second round pick
- 54:25Speaker 1: after Moore's first round pick last year, and that is
- 54:28Speaker 1: Chris Cortes. Here came out of Texas A and M
- 54:30Speaker 1: last year mostly because I mean, I get the Ben
- 54:34Speaker 1: Joyce love, but I think Chris Cortes is the closer
- 54:37Speaker 1: of the future here. Electric electric stuff at Texas A
- 54:40Speaker 1: and M last year and sixty four and two thirds
- 54:43Speaker 1: at Texas, A and M put up a fourteen point
- 54:45Speaker 1: two K nine. It is electric stuff too. I think
- 54:50Speaker 1: it's better than Ben Joyce's And I think you know,
- 54:53Speaker 1: I alluded to the Kenley Jansen trade. I think you
- 54:56Speaker 1: know Jansen probably moves at the deadline. And I think
- 54:59Speaker 1: Cortes is a the one who comes up and closes
- 55:01Speaker 1: for the Angels and not Ben Joyce that I think
- 55:04Speaker 1: Cortes gets into the minor leagues. The Angels see what
- 55:08Speaker 1: they like and they move them up really quickly, the
- 55:10Speaker 1: way they have with lots of other players.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I think that's an interesting one. Like I
- 55:18Speaker 2: it feels like Joyce and Cortez are like kind of
- 55:21Speaker 2: the same same guy. Like throw gas again, don't know
- 55:23Speaker 2: where it's going, and I I just I look at
- 55:27Speaker 2: the the Angels and go, it's the same thing with
- 55:30Speaker 2: Kimley Jansel. You brought him in when you had Joyce.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I it's just so unpredictable. So I love the the
- 55:36Speaker 2: concept of it. I just don't know that you can
- 55:37Speaker 2: map it out this easily as we want to.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I think where he's going and like just Dynasty
- 55:43Speaker 1: Keeper values is part of it that like, yeah, whatever
- 55:47Speaker 1: you were doing with Ben Joyce like when he was drafted, Yeah,
- 55:50Speaker 1: it's at that point, like get in on it now
- 55:52Speaker 1: before we get into this point next year and everybody
- 55:56Speaker 1: is penciling and Chris Cortes to close for the Angels.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Well let's move on to.
- 56:04Speaker 1: One of the more interesting teams, I think, and mostly
- 56:07Speaker 1: because they're moving to a new ballpark. It's a minor
- 56:10Speaker 1: league ballpark, the Sacramento as Athletics. I'm gonna use reform
- 56:15Speaker 1: to Sacramento because I mean that's where they're playing from.
- 56:18Speaker 1: And also it works out when you're organized. I don't
- 56:20Speaker 1: have to reorganize my cards for Oakland to Sacramento alphabetically
- 56:24Speaker 1: in my al West box. So love that. And I
- 56:28Speaker 1: think this is an intriguing team because one I have
- 56:31Speaker 1: to this year going to twenty twenty five remind myself
- 56:34Speaker 1: I can't just stream every Athletics pitcher that's pitching at
- 56:38Speaker 1: home the way I have throughout my entire fantasy career,
- 56:40Speaker 1: where it was great having them in the coliseum and
- 56:44Speaker 1: just kind of like being able to mix and match
- 56:48Speaker 1: pictures are going to be I think hard up in Sacramento.
- 56:52Speaker 1: On the other hand, I think personally, I think lots
- 56:57Speaker 1: of people out there are just underrating the offensive environment
- 57:01Speaker 1: was going to do to these Athletics, considering they played
- 57:04Speaker 1: eighty one games in the coliseum every year. Even if
- 57:08Speaker 1: Sacramento plays as a league average ballpark, that's a huge
- 57:12Speaker 1: upgrade from what Oakland was. And you're also bringing in
- 57:15Speaker 1: the factor of the heat in Sacramento. Intriguing team in
- 57:18Speaker 1: terms of I think they're on the upswing. They looked
- 57:21Speaker 1: really good in the second half last year. So all
- 57:24Speaker 1: those factors considering Sam, who is your buye from the Athletics.
- 57:29Speaker 3: Well, I just real quick want to touch on the
- 57:31Speaker 3: fact that you know, we saw Toronto when they played
- 57:33Speaker 3: in dunid and what it did to their offensive numbers.
- 57:36Speaker 3: And so I have a real interest in seeing what
- 57:40Speaker 3: happens with the Sacramento Athletics, and I've been There's things
- 57:44Speaker 3: that I've wanted to pick up during drafts from them
- 57:46Speaker 3: and others that I wanted to avoid. But the one
- 57:48Speaker 3: that really I'm interested in is JJ Blade. He seems
- 57:52Speaker 3: to be under the radar. You know, he's a late pick,
- 57:56Speaker 3: but you look at the numbers underneath the hood, and
- 57:59Speaker 3: he's at a low k rate and a high walk rate,
- 58:02Speaker 3: and he's going to be playing a lot of baseball
- 58:05Speaker 3: in a heavy offensive environment. And I think that you know,
- 58:10Speaker 3: in the mid two hundreds, you're gonna get you know,
- 58:13Speaker 3: a top one fifty player. I think he's really just
- 58:16Speaker 3: he stays healthy this year. I think he's gonna have
- 58:19Speaker 3: a lot of fun in that outfield because they the
- 58:21Speaker 3: Oakland are sorry not Oakland, the Sacramento Athletics have a
- 58:25Speaker 3: really interesting lineup. It is it is not filled with
- 58:29Speaker 3: a lot of holes. They have some fun offensive talent there.
- 58:32Speaker 3: And so you know, I think he's going to be
- 58:35Speaker 3: hitting in the middle of that lineup. I think it's
- 58:38Speaker 3: going to be a lot of fun for him this
- 58:40Speaker 3: year and people that draft him.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Yeah, And he really dropped his k rate last year.
- 58:46Speaker 2: And the interesting like like it wasn't like he I
- 58:49Speaker 2: would say, got a better eye. He's just got more aggressive.
- 58:53Speaker 2: He's just swung more. And that's that's like when you
- 58:57Speaker 2: think about like stain power of approaches at the plate,
- 59:01Speaker 2: that's like in his control. That's that's a much easier
- 59:03Speaker 2: thing to say in your I got better. So that
- 59:06Speaker 2: is interesting, like to your point, he's probably not much
- 59:08Speaker 2: more in a league average hitter overall with some power upside,
- 59:13Speaker 2: but for where you're paying for him, if you can
- 59:15Speaker 2: hit two fifty two sixty, hit twenty twenty five bombs, Okay,
- 59:22Speaker 2: well I'll take that that. I'll take that over Joe
- 59:24Speaker 2: Adella all day, oh every day.
- 59:27Speaker 3: And he's he's batting third on roster resource in that lineup,
- 59:31Speaker 3: but I think that's probably also the right place for him.
- 59:34Speaker 3: It's not the Gospel, but that's where I go to
- 59:36Speaker 3: see where somebody's going to be playing. And you know,
- 59:39Speaker 3: he's twenty seven, he's entering in his peak prime. He showed,
- 59:43Speaker 3: like you said, that extra aggression last year. It could
- 59:46Speaker 3: be a lot of fun for not a lot of
- 59:48Speaker 3: draft capital. So he's he's my pick.
- 59:52Speaker 1: I agree. Yeah. I wasn't given the choice of JJ
- 59:54Speaker 1: Bladey or Joe adel though, so I would have taken Bldey. Okay,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: brew who is your buy for the Athletics.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: You know who my buy is gonna because I absolutely
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: love this guy, and it is Brent Rooker.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: He is one of the patron saints of this pod.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he's a forty homer guy. He somehow
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: sneaks in ten steals. His average was two ninety three
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: last year. It's probably not gonna be two ninety three
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: this year, let's be honest. But to the point earlier,
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: like he's moving to an interesting feel. I was actually
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: very surprised. I looked at the dimensions of the field
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: there in Sacramento. They're basically the same as the coliseum,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: but it's actually the way the ball flies. And Rooker
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: was actually interviewed of like, what do you think about this?
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: He's like, well, it's not gonna be what everybody thinks.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: It's not gonna be a bandbox. It's not gonna be Colorado.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: He's like, but I've played there before. I've hit a
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: few homers there before. I think it's gonna be a
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: league average stadium, unlike what Oakland was. And so if
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: he's saying that when he went basically forty ten, like
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I'm easily locking another forty season with a little upside
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: on it. And the guy was stealing like he was
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: actually relatively efficient at it. He could probably sneak in
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: a few more in a better offense. The last thing,
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: the only problem he has is strikehouse, which is the
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: problem he had going into last year and he improved
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: by a little bit, and if he could just keep
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: growing getting a little better at that, because it's the
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: one downfall he had, the sky's the limit for him.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: So when we're talking about a guy that is going
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: sixty first overall, like if there was any other player
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: you just didn't say the name and what team they
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: were on, it's like, hey, this guy went forty ten,
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: hit two ninety three. That's the guy you're probably arguing
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: in for the first or second round.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: Absolutely, And so we're sitting here looking at Rooker the
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: fifth Okay, I will take that. That's freebies. I love
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Brett Rooker, absolutely love him.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Sam, question, where do you think Rooker came in
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: on our raspball player rader last year for twenty twenty four.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Lucky number thirteen?
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Wow?
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Twelve, you're pretty close. That's impressive. But yeah, that's crazy
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: that somebody coming off of a season like that is
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: going in the fifth round.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: I agree that.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: Like everything that you said in terms of Jeremy, like
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: of what you love about him and the k rate,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: I'm not even worried if you're if you have a
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: twenty eight percent k rate and it's coming with a
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: sixteen percent barrel rate. I'm fine, like yeah, yeah, Like
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: that's fine with me.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: That's what I call opportunity.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: Yeah, And so were you guys in love with him
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: when he was a Twins prospect or he got DFA
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: by the Royals.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: I loved him that with the first chance he got
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: with the athletics, when you could see that he had
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: all the power in the world, he just had to
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: really be a little more selective, Like that's all it
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: was that he had to do. And you could see
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: it coming. You could see it coming.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: I think I think there's something about Oakland and or Sorry,
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: the athletics and the atmosphere that the players have. You know,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: baseball's ninety percent physical and then half mental, and so
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: you know, I think about it and we'll talk about it.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: Maybe with Seattle that there's it's hard to go to
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: Seattle and hit. You try to do more than you can.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I think open with the athletics, you just get to
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: be whoever you want to be. And Brent Rooker is
- 1:03:20Speaker 3: that Midwest you know, he's just a good dude. And
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I think that they really I don't know if he
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: could have been untapped like he was anywhere else. And
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: I think that him playing for the Athletics in this
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: season of his life is really going to set him
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: up for like the next five ten years. I think
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: he's just going to be a phenomenal power hitter year
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: after year. That kid is country strong.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Yeah. It also it reminds me a little bit of
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: like Nelson Cruz back in the day, where you're just
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: like always waiting for it to fall apart, but like
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: he just keeps pumping out forty homers a year. That
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: I love Brent Worker. Okay, let's get into some selves, Sam,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: who is yourself? From the A's.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: You know I'm selling zat Gelloff. I think that he
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: showed out a little bit last year. I think he
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: had a pretty good season, but I don't trust his
- 1:04:09Speaker 3: plate discipline as much. I'm really worried that he's not
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: going to keep his strikeout rate south of thirty. He
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: might not even be south of thirty three. So I
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: think once he gets those strikeouts, there are other players
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: that potentially could take his spot. I could see them
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: having Louise I don't know why everybody gives Louis Serius
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: a chance, but I could see him stealing some at bats.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: I just don't see I don't see Geloff paying off.
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: As as where he's at, I'm going to stay away
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: from him now. If he was a top three hundred pick,
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: if he was one hundred spots later, I probably would
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: be just fine with that.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree that, Like it's the the bottom here
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: in terms of like the batting average. This is a
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: guy who like could hit one. A man like that
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: could disappear real quick. Jemmy, who's your buy from the
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: athletics or sell yourself from the athletics.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: Again, well you want to talk about it, I'm stealing
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: from the playbook and I'm going all the pictures, like
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: I'm selling the whole pitching staff.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: But even Jeff springs his mind, so you can throw
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: him in that.
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: Just let's just sell them all, Like Mason Miller is talented,
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: but from a perspective of drafting the closure that early,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: like in britt Worker territory, Like if we're talking injury risk,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: like Mason Miller, like fantastic, that are my last two
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: days at my last whole season. I don't. I just
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: don't know. And so there's there's lots safer options, and
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I look through the rest of that, that bullpen and rotation,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: and I'm like, I want no part of Luce Severino,
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: I want no part of Jeffers things, jose Leclair like
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: nothing is just shouting out and the to a ballpark
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: that's not the Athletics Ballpark in Oakland, Like it's just
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: not gonna play well. So I'm selling the entire pitching staff. Osvaldoo,
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: come on, give me some JTGINI.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean Jeff three Springs has a pick of
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: two point fifty seven. I can't believe that, right, Like
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: this dude has thrown forty nine total innings over the
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: past two years. Before that was like perpetually injured. Like
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: I just don't see it, especially in draft champions formats
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: where people are like counting on these players to you
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: can't like drop Jeff Springs when he blows out his
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: elbow again that that's crazy. And so yeah, that's why
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: I'm in. I will say the one picture maybe here
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: that I'm considering just because it's such a late dart throw.
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: I loved what Mitch Spence showed last year. Great ground
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: ball stuff, great cutter. I think he can take a
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: step forward, but more of like a spot starter sky
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: on your roster sort of dart throw that not anything
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: significant there. Okay, we are onto some prospect picks to click,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: which this is a pretty intriguing system in terms of like,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: You've got lots of things going on in terms of
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: depth and draft picks, new draft picks, as well as
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: the whole Sacramento factor of it all. So, Sam, who
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: are you going with on your pick to click in Sacramento?
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: The player that I've been targeting in all of my
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: Dynasty first round draft picks Net Kurtz. I just I
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: love him. He is such a beast. I see him,
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: you know, coming up and being their first basement for
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: a long time. You know, he had a rougher second
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: season last season in college, but that's I believe because
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: the team around him wasn't as good as either a
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: sophomore's junior year. I forget how he was when or
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: what year he was when he came into the pro
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: or got drafted last year. But he's got phenomenal plate skills.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: He just he'll he'll take pitches, he'll walk, he's not
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: going to force the issues, and when he hits the ball,
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: it goes a country mile. So I expect him to
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: be playing in Oakland well before the All Star break.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: You know, I could see him making the club or
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: only spending a couple months down. So the As save
- 1:08:28Speaker 3: you know, the time for him. They get an extra
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: service here. But he's going to be up and he's
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: going to mash get him everywhere you can. I love him,
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: I love him.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: I think this is a great pick. I think he
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: looked great in first out in the Arizona Fall League too,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: that like, this is one of the guys where once
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: you saw him in person, it really impressed me. Played
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: one game in the outfield in the Arizona Fall League
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: that there is maybe a pathway for that in Oakland
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: if they get desperate. But that would be.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Really awesome if he got outfield eligibility.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: Brow. What's your take on Kurtz. I don't know if
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: we've really talked about him too much in this pod.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Yeah. The the only issue with Kurtz is I feel
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: like the it's like the players before you type of
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: thing where it feels like we've talked about these like
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: I'm like, I feel like Andrew Vaughn vibes a two
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: degree of like this really great you know college hitter
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: that has high average, big power should be the middle
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: lineup bat like. It just I feel like I've played
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: this before. It's nothing against Kurts, because I think Kurtz
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: looks fantastic, but I said the same thing about some
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: other guys, and I feel like I've been.
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: Burned on it.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: So that's the only hesitation I have with Kurtz. I
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: feel like that profile has had some of those issues before,
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: but I shouldn't hold that against him. That's just in
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: the back of my mind. But everything else, like everything
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: about him looks great. There's just this like that profile
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: just doesn't seem to develop as well as I would
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: have liked on other teams. Nothing. The Oakland actually has
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: done a lot better developing prospects. I think then people
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: give them credit for like that's that's kind of been
- 1:09:51Speaker 2: become the bread and butter. They're not a Cleveland, not
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: a Tampa, They're not some of those other other organizations.
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm I'm I'm perfectly fine with that with
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: that call.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think if you saw Kurts in person,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: you would not be comparing him to Andrew von He's
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: like six inches taller.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: I'm looking up at all, I'm looking up at all
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: of them.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: I hear you, but here, who's your pick to click
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: for the athletics.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Yeah, A guy I absolutely love in this system is
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Colby Thomas. Uh. Colby Thomas is definitely a guy that
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: I don't think anybody's talking about. And if he brings
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: camp and steals Seth Brown's job, I have no shocks
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: of it. I think he absolutely can do that, and
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: he if, if he has the opportunity, he could go
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: twenty five to fifteen and hit two sixty two seventy
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: without a doubt. Last year across two levels the miners,
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: he had thirty one homers, fifteen steals, hit two seventy seven,
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: and he did so with an under twenty five percent
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: k rate. He was just rock solid. And he has speed,
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: he has athleticism, He can play all over the outfield
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: like he has nothing else to prove. That was age
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: twenty three in Triple A. Now he's oer for eight
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: in spring training this year, so that's not really helping him.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: But hopefully, you know, he can get off to night
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: here and show some things. But I think he's absolutely
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: a guy that you know he's gonna get called up
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: and he's gonna start making some noise and people are
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: gonna be gonna be surprised. So I like Colby Thomas
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: a heck of a lot. He's gonna be a lot
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: of my teams.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: He was my number two. I love that pick.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: I think this is a great pick.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, great power, speed, comba, Okay, my pick.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: It actually is a pitcher, which I mean, maybe not
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: great with the whole sacrament of it all, but this
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: guy's got really great strikeout stuff. It's Mason Barnett who
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: came over from Kansas City at the deadline last year
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: with the in the Lucas Ersig deal, and I was
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: really interested in when he was coming through the Kansas
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: City system because it pops right away when you go
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: to his Fangrass page, You're like, wait a second. This
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: dude's never had a below ten K nine and any
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: stop and been very consistent, pretty solid, pre solid ground
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: ball rate, really cheap in terms of drafts for redraft
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: leagues and in dynasty keeper leagues. He is twenty four,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: doesn't turn twenty five till the end of the year,
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: so I think this is the year that Barnett really
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: hits the major leagues, finally shows what he can do.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: He's got a forty five future grade value on him
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: from Eric Longenhagen at Fangrafts, and I think he's just
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: a good, solid pitcher. So it stinks that he's not
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: in Kansas City anymore because that I think would have
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: really pushed him to like a precipice of where like
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: in redraft leagues, i'd be pushing as like maybe my
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: last draft pick, but right now maybe a little bit
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: more of like a watch list in twelve fifteen teamers
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: where you have waiver wires. But certainly keep an eye
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: on him because I think he's the first guy probably
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: up in Sacramento if there's any injuries to that starting rotation.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I actually really like that profile. What's interesting,
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: as I was just looking at his line, I was
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: surprised the number of innings he's thrown game And actually,
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: if you go look at his game log last year,
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: he finished out the season and for guys in the minors,
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: like everyone's like, let's get him three or four, maybe
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: five innings. That's how season started. He was He finished
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: the last five games of the season, he went seven innings, seven,
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: six and seven. He was going deep into games. He
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: has an arm and across those five he struck out
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: ten four, nine, nine, nine. Yeah. This this with the
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Sacramento rotation bullpen. There's space, there's space.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, and the nice thing is that even when
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: he came over to the athletic system, he tightened up
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: the walk rate, increased the strikeout rate, that like it's
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: possible they might have unlocked a little something more on
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: him too. Okay, well, let's wrap up the athletics. We're
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: gonna move on to Sam. This is why we called
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: you in here for this podcast, your Seattle Mariners. It's
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: been another i would say, tumultuous offseason. The budget happened, Yeah,
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: the budget nothing happened. The budget constricted has constricted this
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: team mightily. And maybe the most interesting thing that happened
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: in the off season is the big Mike Petriello report
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: that came out on the analysis of how poor of
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: a hitter's park t mobile is in terms of like
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: the weather patterns and the batter's eye that isn't straight,
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: and the batter's eye is also extremely bright. You know
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: at certain times of the day that if anything really
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: taught me that I'm fading every Mariner's bat as hard
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: as I can throughout draft season and in keeper leagues
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: and everything like that. But I think there's still lots
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: of great players here, lots of intriguing kind of opportunities
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: up and down the roster, lots of great prospects coming through.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: So what do you think.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Your Mariners are gonna do here? Kind of rounding into
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: twenty twenty five.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: I think they are going to underwhelm us as usual.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: I think there's gonna be a lot of chaos ball
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: that happens. I think that they're gonna if they come
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: out hot, they're going to get cold. If they come
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: out cold, they're going to get hot. They're going to
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: make it interesting. I don't know, it's it's it's tough
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: as a fan of a team that takes such a
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: corporate approach to winning that they just want to win
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: fifty four percent of their games. You know, Forbes has
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: had them as one of the most profitable teams, if
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: not the most profitable team in baseball the last four years,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: and so you know, I keep waiting to see that profit,
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: that money translate to on the field spending. You know,
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: they had Alex Bregman on the free agency market, and
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: we had a need for corner infielder. I don't know
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: why they didn't go out and get them. We've seen
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: how good that guy is. They could mess with the
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: batter side. There's a lot of things that could happen.
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: But I think the thing that you have to and
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: we were talking, I was talking about it a little
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: bit earlier. I think the thing that you have to
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: accept is that you are going to be ninety percent
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: of what you could be anywhere else offensively. You just
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: have to be okay with that mentally that it's going
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: to be just a little little bit harder to hit there.
- 1:16:02Speaker 3: And it was refreshing to watch Victor Roebliss come into
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: the Mariners last year from the Nationals with no expectations
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: and just really live up to that height. You know
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: that at one point he was a higher regarded prospect
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: than Juan Soto in that organization. That Victor Roebliss has
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: got shine for days, but just has done shit with it,
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: pardon my language, you know. And so I'm really looking
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: forward to seeing that outfield become one of the outfields
- 1:16:34Speaker 3: that they talk about in baseball with Randy and with Julio.
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: But I see Victor Robliss being a twenty twenty guy,
- 1:16:41Speaker 3: hit for a good average, have good counting stats, and
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: really just bring a lot of fun to that lineup.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: I think that he easily what's his average draft pick? Sorry,
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: I have it on a different page on the one
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: that I saw the link that you set in the
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: run through. He's a top two hundred pick. I think
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: he's top one, fifty one, twenty five at the end
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: of this season. And I think the Mariners giving him
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: a couple I think they signed him for a couple
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: of years or gave him a small contract. He's not
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: an arbitration. They they've got him. I think he's going
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: to relax and settle in and do some really fun things,
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: and especially getting to play with Julio Rodriguez and with
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: Randy a Rose Arena like he He's now part of
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: a tier of outfielders that you know, very few players
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: get into. I mean, Randy's a perpetual twenty twenty player,
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: and Julio is a top ten player overall in the
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: game unless he hits again like he did last year.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: I just really am excited about him, and I'm a
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: huge you know, there's a other couple of other bats
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: I really like, but I'm really targeting Victor Roblis.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: I like this pick that, like, especially where he's going.
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: It's an intriguing steals play. And you just look at
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: the stats that he put up with Seattle in You're
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: just like, where did this come from? I think it's
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: a pretty classic change of scenario case, honestly, a little
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: bit like Brent Rooker, where allowed himself to reset, allowed
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: himself to referral and find that level.
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: Of talent brew.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I don't think we've actually talked too much Victor Roeblacee
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: here on this pod, but where like does he crack
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: your top one hundred hitters or is he kind of
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: on that next like tier or what do you think
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: about him?
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Right right now I probably have him on that next tier.
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: But it's just it's really hard to know the truth
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: with Victor Roblists. I think that's that's where I'm struggling.
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: Is you know he last year with Washington it was
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: fourteen games, he had a baby of one seventy six
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: with Seattle as three eighty eight. They're both wrong, Look
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: what's it gonna be? And so I what I'm I'm
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: like hedging against is like, is he gonna hit two
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: fifty and steal twenty five bases and hit two homers,
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: Or is he going to use that speed, get comfortable,
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: have a babeup of three fifty, three sixty and hit
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: two eighty, run into a few extra homers and steal
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: forty bases or fifty. Like I feel like those are
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: both plausible outcomes, and so he's one of those interesting guys.
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: I think, as you're getting laid in the draft, if
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: you missed that speed that first and second round, that
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: he's a good gamble to take there. But I think
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: if you have to keep those expectations in check, because
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: he does have a variation outcomes, and since he doesn't
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: have that much power, he isn't going he has if
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: he doesn't do what we want him to do, the
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: downside's pretty pretty low. But for the price, it's not
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: a it's not a big risk, and so I'm intrigued.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I just want to see that comfort, Like does he
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: feel like he's at home? He never felt that way
- 1:19:44Speaker 2: in in Washington And if he and I think you
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: make a great point. If he feels at home and
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: that k rate stays within within reason and he's able
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: to use his speed, man he could be he could
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: be really really fun.
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: Yeah, no, oh sorry. I think what you're also saying
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: it makes him intriguing dynasty keeper by because like you
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: have to think that whoever has him in your league
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: is grappling with this as well. That like it creates
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: a lot of like just opportunity to find a price
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: that works that because if this clicks for another half season,
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: I mean, he interests I think some pretty upper echelons
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: in terms of dynasty keeper valuations because he's only I
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: mean guess he turns twenty eight in May, but I
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: mean still kind of in the prime of his career.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: If you look at a guy who can put up
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: fifteen forty, that's a that's an intriguing fantasy player.
- 1:20:43Speaker 3: Yeah, And I you know, to speak to what Jeremy
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: was saying is that it was it was how he
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: did it consistently when he came with the Mariners. It
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: wasn't this huge spike and then this huge downturn, and
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: it wasn't tumultuous. I mean, there was obviously ebbs and
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: flows with his performance, but he really just was himself
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: the entire time that you were watching him play in
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: a Mariner's uniform and so I'm I'm looking forward to
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: consistency this next year. You're You're absolutely right. You know,
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: the proof is obviously going to be in the putting,
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: what happens when he gets in the batter of spots,
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: what happens when the games are played. But I think
- 1:21:20Speaker 3: I saw enough of him showing that he understood what
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: he needed to do at the second half of last
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: year that I have a lot of confidence for twenty five.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: I'll take your eye test over mine any day, because
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: my Victor Roblis watching was very limited last year.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: Oh I watched a ton of them, and I've made
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: the moves in every dynasty and keeper league I could
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: to get him at the end of last year.
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: It was great, very smart.
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: All right, brew, who's your buy on the Mariners?
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: I feel so wrong with the spine. I'm just going
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: to own that up front because it's like it's almost
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: like a cop out, And I'm really take a guy
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: that I'm not even certain how much he's going to
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: go to play this year, but he fits a incredibly
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: important niche in your fantasy bullpen. Matt Brash, and I'm
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: going bat Brash because he is an absolute beast. Some
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: of the best stuff. When healthy, he is used in
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: that kind of fireman role that gets you just the
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: sneaky amount of wins that you can't really deal with
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: anywhere else. The only thing holding him back is when's
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: he gonna be back and is he gonna be healthy?
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: And he's been throwing like it's not like he's not.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: It's not we don't know if his arms on or not,
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: like it's on, he's throwing. The velocity of seam seems
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: to be there at the beginning of spring training. Part
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: of it's also I saw like no other buys in
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: the whole Mariner system here. I wasn't too excited about
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: what I saw elsewhere, But I think Brash is just
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: this kind of like you're paying nothing for him. You
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: almost wait till the draft's over. You just kind of
- 1:22:54Speaker 2: stash him, and late in the season you just plug
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: him in when you need some k's sneaky wins and
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: absolutely thrilled and undress Munaios like I think he's nasty.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: I just I he's not been the epitome of health,
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: and so him making it through a season like I'll
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: give it a seventy five percent chance, which is what
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: was a see, but I wouldn't be shocked if late
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: in the season Brash comes in sneaking state saves or
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: if there's an injury, He's he's the guy. So I
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: like Matt Brash. Then I also denigrated the rest of
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: the Seattle teams, so I apologize.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, no apology is going to save you for that.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: I totally see Matt Brash as like that Griffin Jacks player,
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: where you just have him on a roster because he's
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: gonna get a couple of wins, he's gonna get a
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: half dozen saves, He's going to strike out everybody. The
- 1:23:40Speaker 3: you guys remember the beginning of twenty four when he
- 1:23:43Speaker 3: struck out Jose Ramirez and made him fall on his
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: ass like his He is nasty. He just throws the
- 1:23:50Speaker 3: most disgusting things. And so I'm with you. I want
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: to make a point like you you were you were
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: talking about the Barriner's line up and all that. So
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: we made a point about the La Angels that they
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: had no player under the top one hundred ADP and
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: the Mariners have seven.
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: Yeah, my point being I don't like them at that ADP.
- 1:24:13Speaker 2: I like that, So I think there's a lot of
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: they have way better players, way a better team. But
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: I look at him like Cayle Rally at seventy six.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: I just can't quite get there. That's feel like, oh
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: my god, there, what other kid My batting average is
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: that bad at that point in a rotal league.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: First of all, it's a catcher. Pair him up with
- 1:24:31Speaker 3: some other catcher, You're like, or get Louis Arias, because
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: what other catcher is going to guarantee you thirty home
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: runs and one hundred and sixty counting stats? And is
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: that guy plays through ridiculous injuries like you were talking
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: about somebody earlier, was Logan Ohak, That he gets nicked
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: up and banged up and he doesn't play like cal
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: Rawley is just fucking tough as nails, Like that dude
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: is going to catch one hundred and thirty games, lock
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: it in. So yeah, you may not like the two
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: twenty two, twenty five batting average. I'm taking the third
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: prety home runs, one hundred and sixty counting stats, and
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: I'm going to make sure I get a high batting
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: average player somewhere else because he is locking in my catchers.
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: Cal rolly Slander.
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: I can't stand he's not even my cell. I know
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: I'm gonna get ostracized for my cell and I'm ready
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: for it.
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: Okay, I love it. I love it.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Okay, my buye here is uh. It's Bryce Miller. I've
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: loved Bryce Miller forever. I love watching him. It's electric stuff.
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: And the second half was ace level tier stuff. Last
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: year one eighty nine eight e RA over seventy one
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: and a third innings in the second half came with
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: a k s BB that finally eclips the twenty percent mark.
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: It was twenty one percent in the second half. The
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: walk crate minuscule down to like two and really the
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: homers he cut shaved an entire like half homer per
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: a game off in the second half too. The stuff
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: plus all backs it up every five pitches over one hundred.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: The rumors out of spring or that he might even
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: be adding like another pitcher too, that this is kind
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: of turning into like a Zach Grankie sour situation with
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: Bryce Miller, and I especially love that like the rotation
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: there between Gilbert and Kirby and Castillo around him. These
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: guys are just like spitball and pitching all day long
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: off of each other. That it's just like kind of
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: like snowballs on top of it. Adding the ballpark that
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: we talked about, he's untouchable at home. Maybe the ground
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: ball rate isn't where like I like it, but he
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: pitches up in the zone and induces us a ton
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: of pop ups, great whip asset. I think, honestly, this
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: is my dark horse cy Young candidate for the Ale
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: this year, and he's going right now pick eighty five.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: I'm comfortable taking Bryce Miller's my like one or two
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: off the board because I think this is a guy
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: who it reminds me a little bit of like Zach
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: Gallon a couple of years ago too, where it just
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: finally clicked and turned the corner that we got one
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: hundred and eighty innings out of Bryce Miller last year.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: And I don't think we've seen the peak.
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: You know, I agree with you, and I want to
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: throw this angle at it too. So you know, there's
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: there's these great pitching staffs in history that had, you know,
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: two people that really pushed themselves, you know, to be
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: good about it. There was the the Diamondbacks that had
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: Randy Johnson and Kurt Shilling that were really just pushing
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: each other to be elite. And we see that with
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: Gilbert and Kirby that as soon as you think Gilbert
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: is a better pitcher than Kirby, Kirby starts doing things
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: that you're like, oh my god, look at what he's doing,
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: and then it'll go back to Gilbert. I think Miller
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: and Wu are those same those same two they have
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: that they're that bonded pair. As excited as I am
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: about Bryce Miller and I agreed with everything that you said,
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: I'm actually more excited to see what Wu is going
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: to bring to this season because last season was his
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: down year. Uh, It's it's a it's a wonderful problem
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: have when when Wu is your your SP five, when
- 1:28:03Speaker 3: when Castillo is literally your SP four, I would I
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: would draft Miller, and they've been doing it this year.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: But I have Miller above Castillo also.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: So I I like Wu's skills better, but I don't
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: like the elbow better. So That's why I'm a Miller guy.
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: I know that we've disagreed over the years on Miller.
- 1:28:23Speaker 1: Did I make it mysell? I told you you guys
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: were gonna hate this one.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Oh well, then go for it. I got to hear
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: this first before I talk about.
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: My cell and in this, like, I don't really disagree
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: with most of what you guys said. The skill set,
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: the capability, what he does when when I I'm selling
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: him based on where he's being drafted in the kind
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: of what I'm looking for in my top end starters
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: is I need that maximum K potential. I need them
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: bringing those strikeouts. He's also kind of a guy behind
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: the scenes. I look at that kind of like that
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: stack cast data and I'm like, it's not fully jiving.
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: He's got a great pitch mix. He's all of his
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: pitches played way up last year compared to the year before.
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: So I'm saying, was that all true or with growth
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: or is that some of that gonna regress. I mean,
- 1:29:12Speaker 2: you look at a guy that gets barreled up a
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: lot relative to guys in the league, doesn't keep it
- 1:29:18Speaker 2: on the ground. You know, he's kind of from a
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: ex of velocity perspective, he's bottom fourteen percent of the league. Like,
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: there's there's these for me, there's some of these question
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: marks that where he's moving and where he's going. I'm
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: just not sure I have that full trust what I
- 1:29:37Speaker 2: would like a guy at that point, and I look
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: at guys that are going maybe around or two after,
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: I have some of the same question marks, but I'm
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: waiting a round or two later, and so I'm willing
- 1:29:48Speaker 2: to pass Bryce Miller, and I'm willing to go after.
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: Let's throw a Tanner Bibery to two rounds later. I
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: love Bailey over and so I would take over over
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Miller all day, every day, Lash Wallenbach, I would take
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: him all day, over over him, Joe Ryan, probably Hunter Brown.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: And so if he's two rounds later, I'm right there.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: I'm looking two rounds later some of the guys going,
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: and I'm sitting going, I'm just as happy with those
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: guys as I'm with Bryce Miller. So I'm gonna take
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: those other guys. So that's It's it's more of a
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: game strategy and what else is happening in the draft
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: than anything against Bryce Miller, And that's my struggle with it.
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: So what I hear you saying is that at drafting
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: at nine and my TGFBI draft on Monday, I'm gonna
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: literally snake all the Mariners pictures. I'll take Bryce Miller early.
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: We'll see how that goes for the season.
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: Yeah, again, I think he's a great pitcher. It's just
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: it's more of a game theory scenario base for me
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: of what else is happening at that point in the draft,
- 1:30:54Speaker 2: because I as I look at the pitching market, I
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: am skipping almost everything until probably that the top thirty
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: is about gone and I'm loading up on OBErs, on Biby's,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: on Hunter Browns, on Sunny Gray's. You know that that level,
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: I am just a drafting like five of those guys.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: It'll be an auction draft to drive my staff.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: So let me ask you a question. Since we're talking
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: about that range down there, and I know this isn't
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: Al West, where are you guys at with Spencer Strider
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: this year?
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: I'm gonna no, he was my cell on the Al
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: East for the Braves because I just don't see him
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: coming back quick enough.
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: I don't see him the same thing I sold him
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: as well, because I do think that they're gonna make
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: sure that he's healthy. I think he's got a ton
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: of talent. If it's a dynasty league, playing way different.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: But I do think he's one of those guys that
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: could be there day one. He could be their day
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: ninety like that. I just do not know, And I
- 1:31:58Speaker 2: feel like I've played that traps so many times and
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: I'm always I'm always putting it on black and hitting red.
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: So yeah, I am.
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: I'm intrigued too, because, like I do think that if
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: you were able to run stack cast for when Bryce
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: Smeller turned that corner in the second half, you might
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: have a slightly different answer, because.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: I know that's the one thing I can't stay about
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: stack cast is like I want to slice and dice
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: and see what happened when you see those little tweaks,
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: and you just can't quite do it.
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: So uh, okay, well who was your cel h here
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: Sam on the Mariners.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: Kills me to say it our captain J. P. Crawford. Yeah,
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: he's got great plate discipline, walks, a lot, doesn't strike out,
- 1:32:41Speaker 3: a lot doesn't hit the ball, a lot doesn't hit
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: home runs, can't steal bases. I just I can't. He
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: is what you know, Victor Robless. He I want him
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: to be what Victor Robless is, showing that he was
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: this elite prospect that came over from the film, and
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: I keep waiting to see this thing where he becomes
- 1:33:04Speaker 3: a fifteen even fifteen fifteen I'd take because he's gonna
- 1:33:06Speaker 3: hit in the middle, at the top of the lineup.
- 1:33:09Speaker 3: He's gonna get good runs, he's gonna he's gonna have
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: decent counting stats. He should hit for a good average,
- 1:33:15Speaker 3: and just it doesn't happen. So like, I'm just I'm clean.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: I'm completely avoiding JP Crawford, where last year I was
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: all in on him. I thought that last year was
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: going to be his year to click.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: Yeah, And it does feel like we're chasing the ghost
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: of that twenty twenty three season where he put up
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: nineteen bombs and ninety four runs and a two sixty
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: six average that I agree that like.
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: Should have been yearly. That should have been yearly, and
- 1:33:39Speaker 3: it's just not.
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: Yeah, here's good for the clubhouse though.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: Yeah. Hey, and in the fantasy game, that means so much.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: I really like my guys to gel in the fantasy game.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: It's so important to me.
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: That's shape of his life when he showed up to camp.
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate all the grounders that he's picking up
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: for all these Seattle pictures that we're all drafting.
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: So as a player, I love him at short stuff.
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: He's not terrible, but there's yeah, uh.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: Huh, okay, Well my cell here, it's actually a repeat
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: of the cell that we had last year because the
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: skills keep degrading further and further. It's Louis Castillo, just
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: look at it. From twenty three to twenty four, k
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: rate down, walk rate, he did improve and somehow that
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: that homer rate held even. But the babbep's up because
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: the stuff is down. He's getting hit harder, heah rays up,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: the fips up. It's all. He just trending the wrong
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: direction here for Luis Castillo. That it's just slowly but
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: surely every year, you know, there's more and more wear
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: and tear in that arm. He's over twelve hundred career innings.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: He's just starting to wear out. And I think this
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: is a picture too, where Luis Castillo really relied a
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: lot on the fastball velocity and as that's lost a
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: tick or two, loses the spin rate, it just loses
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: the chance of surprise. And given where he's going right now,
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: so he's going like in the top one hundred average
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: pick around ninety five. You just rattled off all those
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: guys that are going in that range there. Brew that
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: like I'd rather have all of them overlease Castillo because
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: I think this is another year where you're just looking
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: at it's all trending the wrong direction until there's some
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: sort of rejuvenation that we see in that fastball philosophy
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: and the stuff. Overall, I think Castillo is going to
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: keep just trending downhill.
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I know I sold him last year as well,
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: and to be very frank, I would actually sell him
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: over Miller. I wanted to go to the argument. I
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: want to do a little bold here. I'm still selling Miller.
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: That's just but Castillo, I want no part of to
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: your point that the degradation of skill just slowly like
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: he's still a good pitcher, but it's just you can
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: just it's still it's just slowly going the wrong direction.
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: I think he's got He is helped by pitching Seattle
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: versus all those years in Cincinnati, so I think that
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: does help. But yeah, I think he he is drafting
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: dropping off and I will definitely take Bryce Miller over Lease.
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: Guest you, well, there we go, I got you lock
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: him there. Okay, let's argue let's get into this deep
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: minor league system, because it is there's a lot of
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: players here. I love what's coming through the system in Seattle.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: I think they've stocked it up pretty well with all that. Sam,
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Who are you picking?
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: So I put down one name, But after having this conversation,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: I'm gonna go a different direction with it, all right,
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: I put Logan Evans. He is a pitcher pitched a
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: lot in double A phenomenal ratios. They can't decide whether
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: or not they want him to start or to close.
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: I don't. I don't know what he's gonna do. I
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: saw him as somebody could come up and be you know,
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: that Matt Brash kind of arm also, but I don't.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: I just don't see it in a fantasy. Since I
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: think he's more of a real life player that's going
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: to make a difference in that bullpen.
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: I'm relative interesting was going to be my pick too.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: So I love Logan Evans that I think Seattle has
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: gotten pretty lucky with the health of their starting rotation
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: here the past couple of years. That, yeah, I mean
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: it's time for somebody like Evans to break through, and
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: they've been shopping loose castio that I think he's the
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: first man up.
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I would love to see him pitch, But
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: I see the need for an infielder, and I think
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: that even though Cole Emerson I think has more talent
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: than Cole Young, I see Young being the one that
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: comes up this year, maybe breaks camp with the team
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: and really has an opportunity to not be you know,
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: he's young, just don't think, go out think like a
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: goldfish man and just go out and play. And I
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: could see him not knowing that he's just a kid,
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: and coming up and hitting high two hundreds, decent power,
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: some speed on the bases and just solidifies a place
- 1:38:00Speaker 3: that that lineup in the infield, whether or not he's
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: at second or short, I think that's to be determined.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: Yeah, great swing. I think there's more power in that bat.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: I think I love Cole Young. I mean, I said
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: I was fading mariners like bats, but like Cole Young
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: is one of the ones where it's just such a
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: great played approach you can't you can't have qualms with it, agreed, Jeremy,
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: Who's year pick to click here in Seattle?
- 1:38:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought that's where we were going. We said infielders,
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: because I'm gonna go with Ryan Bliss. I think you know,
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: Bliss is a is a guy that you know, if
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: I run in the mirrors, he's a guy that's breaking
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: camp and he's he's the kind of a fantasy player
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: that we dream of. He's the kind of guy you
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: look at and be like, man, he can steal fifty bases.
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: He you know, he could easily run into fifteen or
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: twenty homers. He's gonna he could maybe keep that average
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: respectable and he can play up the middle and have
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: multipositional eligibility, Like you can easily see that. Is that
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: what's gonna happen? Probably not, but if you I'll take
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: the uh, Sam, I think he said ninety percent of
- 1:39:04Speaker 2: what you're hoping for there, I'll take ninety. I'll probably
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: take eighty of that. And I think he's that kind
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: of guy that can come up and just be sneaky,
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: sneaky value. And I mean you've got Dylan Moore staying
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: in the way. I don't think that that's too much
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: JP Crawford. Uh, it's gonna be harder to unsee Crawford
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: just that the captain estes of that, But I think
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: the talent's there. He's a good fielder too, Like he's
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: really solid all around, and he's looked better and better,
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: and like, I love these guys that show plate patients.
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: He walked fourteen percent of the time last year, walk
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: created fourteen percent, kreative twenty two percent. Like he is
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: an on base machine and he knows how to use it.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: He could he could be a better version of Dylan
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: Moore than Dylan Moore is.
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: Love I love that that call out for that because
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: that's exactly the way that he's gonna get into that lineup.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: And I also really like Iran Bliss. He's really underrated
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: in that system.
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, And I think honestly, like if you're
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: in a best ball or draft and hold situation, Ryan
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: Bliss is a must because like if he does breakout
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: and he provides that's that speed lookout, like that's a
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: league winner.
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: Okay, Well, let's move on back down to Texas, the
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: lone star state. We've got the Rangers as the last
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: team of all of our previews. This is the last one,
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: so Sam, you kind of rounded all out for the
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Ale West here, but also this was the last one
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: of all of our previews in totals, So Texas Rangers,
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: coming off of a middling season, backing up from their
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: twenty twenty three World Series victory in twenty twenty four
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: only one seventy eight games, but also just kind of
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: looked tired and more and out from that World Series
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: run in twenty twenty three. Obviously, we had Jacob d
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: grond get back on the mound. We had some talented
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: rookies breakthrough for the Rangers last year in terms of
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: white line, and this team looks retooled and ready to
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: go into twenty twenty five. Bullpen might be a little
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: bit of work in process, work in progress as they're
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: getting into the to it, but otherwise it's tough to
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: find too many flaws in terms of the rotation and
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: the lineup in Texas. But with all that considered, Sam,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: who is your buy down for the Rangers.
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: At a lease at a least at a last Garcia Man,
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: I think he had more injuries last year than he
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: talked about. He seems to be one of those tough players.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: It just doesn't complain about things, and he had a
- 1:41:40Speaker 3: World Series hangover in twenty four or whatever you want
- 1:41:43Speaker 3: to call it. He had a pretty rough season last year,
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: and I expect him to come back and have a
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: couple more seasons starting next year with high counting stats.
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: I think he's going to hit twenty five thirty bombs,
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: He's going to steal a few bases, and I think
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: he's really going to be prime to have a much
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: better season this year than last year. It looks like
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: his average draft position was he's going under one fifty.
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: I expect him to return top one hundred value this
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: year again. I expect him to become more of a
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: household name again than it has been.
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, it was intriguing how quickly it backed
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: up on him last year. But a lot of it
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: points to injury. And I look at the defensive numbers.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: I've gotten a couple of shares of out a least
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: here in draft season for all these reasons. Also sounds
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: like he's been coming into spring with a different played approach,
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: which is great that you like to hear. But for
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: somebody to go from a plus defender to like the
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: worst defender in the league, like it something screams injury
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: to me there. But Jeremy, this is kind of squarely
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: in your top one hundred hitter profile. Stuff Like, what
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: do you you see for Garcia going into twenty twenty.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: Five yeah, I I haven't ranked him yet because I've
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: only got through the top twenty in the article I
- 1:43:06Speaker 2: have released since I'm not I'm not there, but like
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: he's probably squarely in the middle or probably through you know,
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: third twenty five there of the top one hundred hitters.
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: For me, like he averages the question like is what
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: what's he gonna do there? But he is a beast.
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: He can he can rake with the best of them.
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: He's he's got sneaky speed, and he's in a really
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: good lineup and so like all those things kind of play.
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: He's got a decent floor, and I don't I don't
- 1:43:36Speaker 2: think he's done, Like I think he had a down
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: year and so I I think he's great value where
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: he's going right now. So he's easily in my top
- 1:43:46Speaker 2: one hundred. He will be there, uh, no doubt about it.
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: So then, yeah, it sounds like he's a buy at
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: ADP for you too, yep, but maybe not your bye?
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: Who is your bye?
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: My bye? Is I got? What where is he going?
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: In?
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: My guy? Is a guy going around pick two hundred,
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: and that is Josh Young. I am absolutely a Josh
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: Young believer. Let's throw away twenty twenty four. It doesn't
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: make sense. He hurt his wrists. It it doesn't count.
- 1:44:16Speaker 2: And I'm gonna I'm gonna do my comp Brent Rooker.
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: If you look at what he did in twenty twenty three,
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: go compare his stat cast for twenty twenty three to
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: Brent Rookers. They are almost identical. Wow, it is not
- 1:44:31Speaker 2: not that far off. The only difference is there's a
- 1:44:34Speaker 2: little bit more patience in Rookers approach. But as far
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: as like contact rates, hard hit rates, barrel rates, just
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: that overall approach, both of them generally spray hitters. You know,
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Young's playing in the better ballpark, better lineup. I mean,
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: he's going at ADP two hundred. Like, this is a
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: guy that I would take all day, early early, maybe
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: up to pick like one twenty one, twenty five somewhere
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: in there. Like, I absolutely I'm not gonna take him there.
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: I don't need to, but I think he's absolutely gonna
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: break out. If you look at what he did in
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: twenty three, one hundred and twenty two games, uh, twenty
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: three bombs hit two sixty six, seventy five runs, seventy
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: RBIs just extrapolate like the one to fifty games. That's
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: one hundred and ninety runs and RBIs combined hitting almost
- 1:45:21Speaker 2: thirty homers. Like, why is this guy going so late?
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: I absolutely love him. He's gonna break out this year
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: and I have a zero share so far.
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: Well, I can tell you why he's going so like
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: because he's actually myself, because it's it's the injury history here.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: I do not like it.
- 1:45:40Speaker 2: One year I did not like.
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: I do not like risk hitting injuries like it is.
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: Tommy Van disagrees, Sorry to bring our Cardinals get back.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: They scare the be Jesus out of me, honestly.
- 1:45:52Speaker 2: It's also.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: This is a weird just like gut feeling. But his
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: brother Jase Young also has been dealing with kind of
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: soft tissue injuries that Young has also dealt with through
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: his career. I don't know if that like pretends well
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: that it just kind of the way that youngest kind
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: of come through this system. And he's older than you
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: would think he is in terms of where he's been
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: because like he has battled so many injuries and it
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: just hasn't clicked for a whole volume of seasons. So
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I think there is a good player in there. I
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: just don't know if his body will let him achieve it.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: And so that's why I'm not in on Young. I'm
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: not interested in him, even with how kind of shallow
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: corner and third base is, is just because I don't
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: want to then have to go chase a new third
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: basement on the waiver wire. That like it's it's if
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: he does go down with another injury or if that
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: wrist isn't kind of fully healed up the way that
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: we wanted it to be. There's nobody on that's going
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: to be out there at third base, and so I
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: need something that's a little more steady. He was actually myself, I.
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: Like, I like him at ADP. I don't think i'd
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: reach for him, but for everything that Jeremy said, like,
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: I'm you're not going to find top top four round
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: talent that late in the draft of third base that easily.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: Like I think he I think if he is healthy.
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: If if there isn't, and we'll see, right like if
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: he continues to have soft tissue injuries, like your point
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: becomes even more valid. But he has the season that
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: Jeremy's talking about, and I think we're talking about him,
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: you know, top fifty pick next year.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's fair. So yeah, we'll see that.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: I think he'll be fascinating because I can totally be
- 1:47:43Speaker 1: wrong in this and I will change because I love
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: the profile in terms of the approach and stuff.
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: I just injury histories. Bite me, I hate him? No
- 1:47:52Speaker 2: fair enough, my bye. Here.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: It's somebody that we've discussed quite a bit on this podcast,
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: because I know you love him too. I mean, it's
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Nathan Aovaldi. He's actually going like right next to Josh
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: Young in Draft Champions data right now around pick two hundred,
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: and it's kind of crazy that he's down there with
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: some of these kind of that's when you do start
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: getting pictures with a lot more Wartz, you know, Louis
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: Heel and his walk rate. Nick Pivetta being Nick Pivetta,
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: Mackenzie Gore like, is it going to stick from the
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: second half? Spencer Raghetti like, can he continue finding the
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: strike zone? I don't really have. When you look at
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Iovaldi's overall profile right now, maybe the one like thing
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: that I think is knocking him down is people see
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: that he's thirty five years old and are like, he's
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: too old to do this. But he's been putting up
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: solid years now in terms of being healthy and staying
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: out there on the mound. The strikeout rate certainly isn't
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: like the most fantastic in the world. But if you
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: can get another one hundred and fifty hundred and seventy
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: innings out of him at the eight play us K nine,
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: that's gonna be great value for where he's going right now.
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: Should have an era that is sub four plays on
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: a great team for the wins. I just love old
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: farts like this when they're kind of going in this
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: range and can continue pumping out value for you.
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: This is the boring name that helps you win exactly.
- 1:49:22Speaker 3: This is this is the player that should probably be
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: around pick one, seventy five, one sixty and really just
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: people don't want to take him because just like you said,
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: he's thirty five. He pitches for the Rangers. Who wants
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: to take a Rangers picture? You know? So I I
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: like that pick a lot.
- 1:49:40Speaker 2: We love him on this podcast because he is that.
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: He's he's a he's a ninth starter and a sixth
- 1:49:46Speaker 2: starter's body, whatever you want to call it. Like, he's
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: the kind of guy that you just set it and
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: forget it and you're really happy with the season because
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: he didn't torpedo you like him or Spencer Arraghetti, which
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: one do I believe is going to give at the
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: end of this. I'm not gonna want to choke, right.
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: I love Spaghetti over there, but it is definitely Evaldi
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: for me there.
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's a great point that it is like
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: very like he doesn't blow up on you. And that's
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: the way that some of those other pictures where you know,
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: you could see easily like one of those one inning,
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: six earned run starts, Aovaldi is just not quite that. Okay,
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: let's get in Well, we got myself for young Sam.
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: Who's yourself for the Rangers?
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: My cell is Marcus Simeon. You know, he has logged
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: a ton of plate appearances the last six seven years,
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: going back to his time with that the Athletics, and
- 1:50:43Speaker 3: I think last year we saw some wearing tear on him,
- 1:50:45Speaker 3: and I don't think that it's the kind of wearing
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: tear like I believe that Adele's had where he's going
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: to bounce back. He's still got time. I think that
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: we're starting to see some skills deteriorate, and I expect
- 1:50:58Speaker 3: the Rangers to put him out out there and get
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: you know, another six hundred and seventy seven hundred plate appearances.
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: I mean, I think he's going to get the opportunity,
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: but I don't know what he's going to do with it.
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: I'm getting some real Bobachette vibes as far as his
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: performance that it's you know, a different situation, different team,
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: different age, but you know that same thing of this
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: this this was better and now it's not. I just
- 1:51:24Speaker 3: don't I don't see him performing at the at the
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: draft put price cities at. Also, second base has become
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: surprisingly keep this year for parties and the people that
- 1:51:35Speaker 3: we want to roster, and so I'm not going to
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: reach for him. I'm not gonna go for him. I'm
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: not going to go for Altov. There's a series of old,
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: steady and boring that I think I'm going to pass
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: at second base.
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: I think you look at this point of the draft
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: like there is a glut of guys here that you're
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: sitting here going like Willia Damas, Marcus Simeon, Christian Walker,
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: Mark Viento's, Brian Reynolds, like they're all just like I
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: don't know. And then that's right where Bryce Miller Spencer,
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: swallenback Bailey over like are going like it is so
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: obvious that this part of the draft you need to
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: be zigging rather than zagging from a pitching versus hitting perspective.
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: So I still like Simeon, but I think it's more
- 1:52:19Speaker 2: of like like him as a guy as an overall player.
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: But you're right like it it feels like there's more
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: risk and you're not getting quite the discouy you should here.
- 1:52:29Speaker 2: I still might. You know, he's one of those guys
- 1:52:31Speaker 2: that he slips a few rounds, like his his draft range,
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: leasing the data I'm looking at this high have picked
- 1:52:36Speaker 2: forty five low as one thirty three. Yeah, I'm not
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: taking him at forty five. I might not take him
- 1:52:41Speaker 2: at ninety, but it's one twenty sure, Like it's it's
- 1:52:46Speaker 2: definitely he's a kind of polarizing guy, I think in
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: drafts at this point in the season. Yeah, same, This.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: Strikes me as a guy that I don't end up
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: with him in snake drafts, but I end up with
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: him in auction drafts because like he is steady from
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: the runs and RBI. But like when you're in a
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: snake draft, especially when we're like given the strategies. I
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: think all of us kind of follow similar strategies at
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: this point. I'm throwing something that I can try to
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: get a little more upside than Simeon. So I think
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: this is a great pick.
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: Brew.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Who's your cell in the Rangers?
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: All right, I'm gonna have fun with this one, because
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: why not. We're at the end, last team, and I'm
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: going to put you both to the test with little
- 1:53:28Speaker 2: quiz here. I'm gonna give you the stat line. I
- 1:53:31Speaker 2: want you to predict the ADP or what ADP you
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: think the stat line deserves, Okay, and I'll tell you
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: what it actually is. One hundred eight games, eight homers,
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: twelve steals to forty one average. As for anything else
- 1:53:45Speaker 2: you want, but those are just kind of your baseline numbers.
- 1:53:47Speaker 2: One hundred eight games, eight homers, twelve steals, two forty
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: one average. Guys gonna get full time playing, So you
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: can extrapolate if you want. What kind of ADP? Does
- 1:53:56Speaker 2: that feel like?
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: And sounds like somebody I'm not drafting, Yeah.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: It's gonna I was gonna say like three hundred, like
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: it's gonna be pretty late.
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: Well, that's White Langford through August last year. No, you
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: didn't do that to us, Yes, I did. Thirty eightp
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: lengthord was not worth anything through August last year, he
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: had a fantastic what happened?
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: I was gonna say, give us that stat like.
- 1:54:26Speaker 2: What happened after that? Yeah, that's that's.
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: Fair arbitrary date that we pick end of anth that's
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: just the end of the month.
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: Three hundred eight homers and seven steals in September October,
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: So he rounded it out. I'll give you that. But
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: my point being, he went the vast majority of the
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: season under under before me. I know there was recovering
- 1:54:48Speaker 2: from injury. I know he's learning the league things like that,
- 1:54:51Speaker 2: But for a guy at eighty p thirty eight, that
- 1:54:56Speaker 2: that to me is enough of like a Do I
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: want to put my faith in that one month he
- 1:55:02Speaker 2: figured it out and he can deliver across the whole season,
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: Or do I want to take Matt Olsen. Do I
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: want to take a Corey Seager? Do I want to
- 1:55:10Speaker 2: you know, take somebody like that. Honestly, there's a lot
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: of guys in this range I'm not too excited for.
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: But he's right there with me. Nam a shadow Raffie
- 1:55:17Speaker 2: Devers like it's there's other guys that I'm sitting here going, man,
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: that was a long part of the season that if
- 1:55:24Speaker 2: he just got hurt or they kind of benched him
- 1:55:27Speaker 2: or just said we're not gonna do it, we would
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: be talking about a guy with a three hundred ADP.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: And so I'm putting cold water. I do think Langford's
- 1:55:35Speaker 2: mortalented the what I'm painting him to be. But if
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: I said why at Langford is my cell, you guys
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: would have jumped down my throat to start. I at
- 1:55:43Speaker 2: least wanted to pause before the jump and tell you
- 1:55:48Speaker 2: I'm not drafting Langford. If he drops ten twenty spots, sure,
- 1:55:54Speaker 2: I'm all a game for it, but it's there's a
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: little bit for me. I want to see it more
- 1:56:00Speaker 2: than a month.
- 1:56:02Speaker 3: Yeah, And I totally agree with that, because if I'm
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: reaching for a young outfielder, I'm taking Churio, I'm taking Wood,
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: I'm taking Jackson Merrill, I'm taking one of those three players.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: I'm not reaching for why at Langford.
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree with all those All of those guys
- 1:56:18Speaker 2: are going to be cheaper, you know, And you could
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: you could have just taken I said, you could have
- 1:56:25Speaker 2: grabbed Corbyn Burns at the same point and had your
- 1:56:28Speaker 2: ace and then taken Churio, and I think you end
- 1:56:31Speaker 2: up actually maybe happier with Churio.
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, And I mean, oh absolutely.
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: There was a hamstring injury last year that blew him
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: out for a month, which I think was a factor,
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: but I mean.
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: It was I know, I'm I'm I'm I'm owning that. Yeah,
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: I'm well, twisting numbers, playing with stats, I know what
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: I'm doing. But I think that's also.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: A good reminder. I mean, he he just tweaked his
- 1:56:52Speaker 1: oblique yesterday, So this is something to watch with Langford
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: that it's two soft tissue injuries. That like that is
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: something to con or that you know, if this oblique
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: injury turns into something bigger, I think you might be
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: nation here on why at Langford that like it could
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: be a guy who just like is too good for
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: his body, the way like Tristan Cassas or Mike Trout
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: might be where supreme tools, great savant page, but he's
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: got to learn to stay healthy.
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: Now do you want Brent Rooker sixty one or why
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: were Langford at thirty eight? Yeah? All right, I've worked
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: Brett Rooker into all teams since the A. So I
- 1:57:31Speaker 2: will stop, that's great. I like it.
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: Okay, I don't think you're gonna stop, but that's okay
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: with me.
- 1:57:38Speaker 2: I'm not like, just go back to like the pod.
- 1:57:41Speaker 2: It's a probably a good thing. Cooley doesn't like tag
- 1:57:42Speaker 2: all the players we talked about, because we literally do.
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: We don't go look at the raspball page for Brent Rooker.
- 1:57:51Speaker 2: Luckily the history doesn't go so far back. But I'm
- 1:57:53Speaker 2: pretty sure I've abused it.
- 1:57:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean we've been abusing Cooper Bowman and Michael
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: McGreevy as well. That's uh, it's all us. Okay, let's
- 1:58:02Speaker 1: get into those picks to click for the Rangers. Who
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: are you going with Sam? To click on the Rangers?
- 1:58:08Speaker 3: Well, they had a prospect Rosario, who's going to have
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: TJ it sounds like, and I was really interested in him.
- 1:58:14Speaker 3: He looked like a fun picture that might have come up.
- 1:58:16Speaker 3: But they have another picture who had a really good
- 1:58:20Speaker 3: end of last season, and I think is going to
- 1:58:22Speaker 3: be primed to have a decent year this year, and
- 1:58:25Speaker 3: that's Kumar Rocker. His k rates are just through the
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: ceiling and if he's able to stay healthy, and harness,
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: any amount of control. You know, you're looking at somebody
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: who's probably going to be throwing, you know, one hundred
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: and twenty twoe hundred and fifty innings, striking out one
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: hundred and fifty to one hundred and eighty batters. I mean,
- 1:58:45Speaker 3: you know, what is his average pick he's going on
- 1:58:49Speaker 3: the sheet, I'm looking at around three h five. Like,
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: I'll take that upside in the twentieth round. I'm excited
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: about that. So I'm looking forward to Kumar this year,
- 1:59:01Speaker 3: and you know he's It was between him and Lighter
- 1:59:04Speaker 3: the Vandy boys that both ended up at Texas. I
- 1:59:06Speaker 3: really think that Kumar Rocker, given how he came into
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: the majors, the injury concerns, and what he's shown about
- 1:59:14Speaker 3: being able to stay healthy, I think he's got a
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: chip on his shoulder and I'm really excited to see
- 1:59:18Speaker 3: how that plays out in full season.
- 1:59:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I love this pic. I think he's great.
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: I love this pick because he's also my prospect. Click
- 1:59:26Speaker 2: takes to click. I think, you know, you could argue
- 1:59:30Speaker 2: he has probably one of the best sliders in the
- 1:59:32Speaker 2: league already. I do question if he quite knows where
- 1:59:35Speaker 2: it's going at all times, but he has to, he
- 1:59:38Speaker 2: doesn't have to. And he's also been a guy that
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: he's kind of struggled at each layer level he's gotten
- 1:59:44Speaker 2: to for like a month or so, and then he
- 1:59:47Speaker 2: kind of figures out and then he lights out, like
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: he just a little adjustment period. And I think that's
- 1:59:51Speaker 2: he got that flavor last year and he was dominant
- 1:59:55Speaker 2: at times, he was questionable at times like he was
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: trying to figure it out. So necessarily have a spot
- 2:00:01Speaker 2: right now, but I think getting that spot, he's gonna
- 2:00:04Speaker 2: be really, really dangerous. So I love Kumar Rocker. I
- 2:00:08Speaker 2: think he's he's gonna be fun to watch.
- 2:00:11Speaker 1: I love it. Okay, I'm going a little deeper here
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: with this pick, and it was I mean, he was
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: our first rounder from last year. But is Malcolm Moore
- 2:00:19Speaker 1: catcher out of Stanford. I just love this profile. It's
- 2:00:23Speaker 1: a bat first catcher for the Rangers, and you can
- 2:00:26Speaker 1: kind of see where they're starting to give up a
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: little bit on jonah Heim. Higashioka is on a two
- 2:00:31Speaker 1: year deal, and I would just encourage you to go
- 2:00:35Speaker 1: watch like some film on Malcolmore and you can just
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: see it is a very it's a great swing, and
- 2:00:40Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be a fantastic left handed power
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: swing for a catcher doesn't necessarily have like the best
- 2:00:47Speaker 1: catching chops, but with Abs coming through, there's a good
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: chance that, like, he's not gonna need to be an
- 2:00:53Speaker 1: elite framer an elite catcher if the bat will play.
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: So it reminds me a little bit of like, I'm
- 2:01:00Speaker 1: not even sure if Kyle Gashioka, who's also on the Rangers,
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: might have a little bit of this profile where I
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: think the power ceiling here for more could be something
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: akin to like a mid twenties homer, something like a
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: two thirty two forty average, just great counting stats. It
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: is just a very sweet lefty swing, and I think
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: that he's got a lot of the tools coming out
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: of Stanford to be able to rise pretty quickly through
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: the system as well as there's just not very many
- 2:01:28Speaker 1: other catchers around him. So I'm not usually huge on
- 2:01:31Speaker 1: catchers for dynasty keeper leagues, but More ticks a lot
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: of the boxes for where you know, college age bat
- 2:01:39Speaker 1: got into the league last year, hit pretty well when
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: he debuted, should probably hit double A this year and
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: could hit the majors, you know, in twenty twenty six
- 2:01:48Speaker 1: or early twenty twenty seven.
- 2:01:52Speaker 3: Catching prospects. We're talking about catching prospects. I think he's
- 2:01:58Speaker 3: got a really strong hit to well. I do worry
- 2:02:01Speaker 3: about him staying at ketcher. You know, I could see
- 2:02:04Speaker 3: him ending up at first base or DH. But if
- 2:02:09Speaker 3: he is able to stay at ketcher, I think that
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: bat plays up. I think that's a good position for him. Jeremy,
- 2:02:16Speaker 3: you could pair him with cal Rawley to have that
- 2:02:18Speaker 3: nice batting average and power combo at your catcher position.
- 2:02:22Speaker 2: You have me at Luis Riah's all right.
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: Well, that wraps up all of our team previews for
- 2:02:32Speaker 1: this entire twenty twenty five season. Sam, thanks for running
- 2:02:35Speaker 1: us out here with the Al West. We've had a blast.
- 2:02:38Speaker 1: I'm glad that we were able to connect again and
- 2:02:40Speaker 1: bring you on after meeting at First Pitch Arizona together. Absolutely,
- 2:02:45Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing you out there again, hopefully
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: this fall. That I'm just itching to go back, and
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: it's what like seven months away at this point.
- 2:02:54Speaker 3: That that's right.
- 2:02:55Speaker 2: I had the time of my life last hey year.
- 2:02:58Speaker 3: Any of the listeners starry to break into an impromptu
- 2:03:00Speaker 3: commercial for a First Pitch Arizona But if you have
- 2:03:04Speaker 3: never been in a room with two hundred other people
- 2:03:07Speaker 3: who care about what your roster construction is, that want
- 2:03:10Speaker 3: to talk to you about underlying stats, that want to
- 2:03:14Speaker 3: talk to you about the game, that really bring out
- 2:03:17Speaker 3: that inner baseball geek in you, that you really feel
- 2:03:20Speaker 3: like you're thirteen years old hanging out with the cool kids,
- 2:03:23Speaker 3: even if it's fantasy baseball. Do yourself a favor. Go
- 2:03:26Speaker 3: to First Pitch Arizona. It is the most fun. And
- 2:03:30Speaker 3: just like Michael said, like we met, and it's just
- 2:03:32Speaker 3: when you meet people there, you almost become instant friends
- 2:03:35Speaker 3: because everybody's just in a good mood talking about fantasy baseball.
- 2:03:38Speaker 3: Like how much better does life get than that?
- 2:03:41Speaker 1: I totally agree.
- 2:03:42Speaker 3: That's why, Jeremy, you gotta come next year.
- 2:03:44Speaker 2: We gotta have I know who's working on me, who's
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: working on me? My kids like take us to Disney
- 2:03:50Speaker 2: and I'm like, oh, fantasy baseball.
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm going to leave you at home. You're
- 2:03:57Speaker 3: not going to have fun.
- 2:03:58Speaker 2: It's that sounded good to me.
- 2:04:01Speaker 1: Hey the hotel has a pool, Yeah yeah, absolutely. Okay,
