- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to have you mad Ivan. Guys have got a
- 0:02Speaker 1: new album that's to be released. Tell us a bit
- 0:06Speaker 1: about that.
- 0:07Speaker 2: So we have our sixth record coming out, which is
- 0:10Speaker 2: honestly crazy to think because it feels like it was
- 0:13Speaker 2: just yesterday putting out the first record. But here we
- 0:16Speaker 2: are looking at the release and honestly, for me, it's
- 0:20Speaker 2: a very special one because you know, some people may
- 0:23Speaker 2: know the last record that we did four years ago,
- 0:26Speaker 2: If the Sky Came Down, was it was a very
- 0:28Speaker 2: personal one for me, and the song, the whole record
- 0:31Speaker 2: was basically written as a sort of diary of a
- 0:35Speaker 2: very very dark time in my life.
- 0:37Speaker 3: And at the at the time when.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I was writing it, I honestly didn't think there would
- 0:41Speaker 2: be a sixth record ever. And and being here and
- 0:45Speaker 2: sort of getting over that to the point where writing
- 0:48Speaker 2: this record felt like a sort of going back to
- 0:51Speaker 2: the roots of just enjoying the the you know, the
- 0:54Speaker 2: magic of being in a studio and.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Writing music, writing melodies, writing lyrics.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I feel like I'm very I'm probably more so proud
- 1:01Speaker 2: of the prouder of this record than anything ever before.
- 1:05Speaker 2: And you know, it's always now it's an exciting time
- 1:07Speaker 2: with less than a month before the record comes out,
- 1:10Speaker 2: and knowing that soon, soon, it's going to be you know,
- 1:12Speaker 2: it's gonna be everyone's record.
- 1:14Speaker 3: So I'm very happy at the moment.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Oh, that's such good to hear.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's almost like full circle in a way, you know,
- 1:20Speaker 1: come out the dark side of the time of you know,
- 1:23Speaker 1: outside of the darts times and which can be you know,
- 1:25Speaker 1: quite quite the experience, and often your music is a
- 1:30Speaker 1: way to see yourself through that for a lot of.
- 1:33Speaker 4: People, artists as well as in listeners.
- 1:35Speaker 2: So one thousand percent, and I think, yeah, I mean
- 1:38Speaker 2: it goes to it really goes to show the power
- 1:41Speaker 2: the or like the power of music that we don't
- 1:44Speaker 2: even fully understand ourselves, because you know, for me, going
- 1:47Speaker 2: back to you know, when I was seven years old,
- 1:49Speaker 2: I heard an Iron Maiden song that was basically the
- 1:52Speaker 2: catalyst for everything that happened in my life. And you know,
- 1:56Speaker 2: hearing Bruce Dickinson sing a line that obviously you know,
- 2:00Speaker 2: he was singing about a different thing than what I
- 2:02Speaker 2: understood it as a seven years old seven.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Year old, but the fact that you know, the emotion
- 2:08Speaker 3: is the same.
- 2:09Speaker 2: Yeah, even though the lyric can be different or the
- 2:11Speaker 2: story can be different, and I love that about music.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's I guess I get even a piece
- 2:16Speaker 1: of art, you know, it's about what you take from it.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And that's the beautiful thing as an artist is just
- 2:20Speaker 1: hearing the difference meanings that your piece may have to
- 2:24Speaker 1: other people and their adversity that it can taken be
- 2:28Speaker 1: quite complex and by the time, which often is you know,
- 2:31Speaker 1: completely removed from the reasons we may have created it.
- 2:34Speaker 1: But it's beauty of art, really, isn't it. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 4: And and then to getting back to you said.
- 2:40Speaker 1: To be in the studio and doing doing it for
- 2:42Speaker 1: the reasons why, for the love of it, which that's
- 2:45Speaker 1: even better, you.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Know, getting has some fun with it when you are not, so.
- 2:49Speaker 2: I mean absolutely absolutely, And because like the only the
- 2:52Speaker 2: only way I've ever known how to write music is
- 2:55Speaker 2: or or sort of like the the beginning and the
- 2:58Speaker 2: end always has to be with your self.
- 3:00Speaker 3: It has to be something that you like.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The music always has to be a representation of who
- 3:05Speaker 2: you are as an artist and as a person. Because
- 3:07Speaker 2: I feel like, if you know, if we would ever
- 3:10Speaker 2: be the kind of band that we just chase trends
- 3:12Speaker 2: and right music, that's sort of that will always be
- 3:16Speaker 2: outdated because it's only for a certain moment. Then it's
- 3:19Speaker 2: never going to be authentic and and there would be
- 3:21Speaker 2: no there wouldn't be a reason to really do it either.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I feel like no, absolutely.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I have been listening to The Creative back by Brick
- 3:30Speaker 1: Rubin of late and you know, that's one thing he
- 3:32Speaker 1: talks about is, you know, when you're creating your whatever.
- 3:35Speaker 4: It may be, is that the audience that comes last.
- 3:37Speaker 1: You know, you know, they don't even enter into the
- 3:39Speaker 1: equation when you're doing it, and exactly, yeah, keep but
- 3:42Speaker 1: when you want to, you know, have some success or
- 3:46Speaker 1: and subtraction that can be hard to separate from because
- 3:49Speaker 1: you're mindful of it.
- 3:50Speaker 4: And yeah, but keeping it to yourself and to stand your.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Own little musing station as they call it whatever, it
- 3:58Speaker 1: can be difficult to keep it separate.
- 4:01Speaker 4: But for sure that sounds interesting. I gave a little
- 4:04Speaker 4: bit of all Listen before too.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And some nice tracks on there, so it's definitely goodn't.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Sound thank you so much.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Yeah, so tell me a little bit about the band
- 4:13Speaker 4: Lost Society.
- 4:14Speaker 1: How long have you guys been together and how did
- 4:16Speaker 1: it happen and where do you see yourselves going?
- 4:18Speaker 4: In the in the future.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Well, it's crazy to think that it was about twelve
- 4:23Speaker 2: years ago. No shit, actually thirteen years ago we put
- 4:26Speaker 2: out our first record and it was pretty insane honestly,
- 4:30Speaker 2: the way that everything sort of came together in the beginning,
- 4:34Speaker 2: because you know, I started the band in twenty ten
- 4:37Speaker 2: from just you know, a notion of I want to
- 4:39Speaker 2: be a musician, I want to be in a band,
- 4:41Speaker 2: and I want to write music, not just play music.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And it was like, you know, I'm going to sort
- 4:46Speaker 2: of cut the story a bit shorter, So long story short.
- 4:49Speaker 2: In the matter of two years we had you know,
- 4:52Speaker 2: the only lineup changes basically are bigger lineup changes that
- 4:55Speaker 2: have been in the band. And you know, it was
- 4:58Speaker 2: only in twenty twenty we had our drummer change, and
- 5:01Speaker 2: even the drum change, the drummer changing, the guy who
- 5:05Speaker 2: ended up in the band was one of our best friends,
- 5:07Speaker 2: so you know, everything went well with that. But either way,
- 5:10Speaker 2: in the beginning, you know, a couple of lineup changes,
- 5:13Speaker 2: one and a half demos, and that sort of translated
- 5:16Speaker 2: into us, you know, organizing our first own shows and
- 5:19Speaker 2: stuff in Finland because at the time I was still underage,
- 5:22Speaker 2: so you know, we couldn't.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Play any bars or anything, so it was just.
- 5:25Speaker 2: You know, it was up to us arranging our little
- 5:28Speaker 2: own festivals, and we did a bunch of band competitions
- 5:31Speaker 2: and you know, just any any chance we had to perform,
- 5:34Speaker 2: and that sort of all ended up in us being
- 5:38Speaker 2: in a televised sort of band competition final whatever.
- 5:43Speaker 3: And this video ended up on the desk of an
- 5:46Speaker 3: A and.
- 5:46Speaker 2: R at Nuclear Blast Records here in Germany and or
- 5:50Speaker 2: here in Europe in Germany, and they signed us, and
- 5:53Speaker 2: the rest is, you know, the rest is history, so
- 5:56Speaker 2: to say, I mean, we're still still going at it,
- 5:59Speaker 2: and you know, we still pride ourselves in challenging ourselves
- 6:03Speaker 2: every record that we do, every show that we do,
- 6:05Speaker 2: every tour that we do, and obviously, you know, our
- 6:08Speaker 2: our hopes are the same as they were back in
- 6:10Speaker 2: the day that we want to be the biggest band
- 6:11Speaker 2: in metal music. And obviously, you know, we know that
- 6:14Speaker 2: we're not we're not nearly there, but you know, we're
- 6:16Speaker 2: making way, and we're we're doing the best that we
- 6:19Speaker 2: can and probably on top of all that, we're still
- 6:21Speaker 2: having a good time, which is you know, the most
- 6:24Speaker 2: genuine reason for doing.
- 6:25Speaker 1: This for sure, for sure, and so obviously you're from
- 6:29Speaker 1: not a native of Finlanders, Finish. I think they called
- 6:32Speaker 1: I'll be from the US, So was that part of
- 6:35Speaker 1: getting trashing the band was making the decision to move
- 6:38Speaker 1: to philm.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I will always take that as a compliment just for
- 6:41Speaker 2: my accent, but but I am actually finished, I'm half finished.
- 6:45Speaker 3: But I have I have roots.
- 6:48Speaker 2: My father was Egyptian, so I'm half Egyptian and that
- 6:52Speaker 2: translates to the fact that we just spoke English at
- 6:54Speaker 2: home always. But I am I'm basically born and raised
- 6:58Speaker 2: in Finland, just went through Inlish speaking schools and stuff.
- 7:01Speaker 2: But I am not American.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Oh that's because yeah, you definitely did distinctly pretty for
- 7:06Speaker 1: me my being a US some accents so from the
- 7:09Speaker 1: inastern aactional schools, as you said, is that where you
- 7:12Speaker 1: picked it up. Yeah, wow, that's some I haven't heard
- 7:14Speaker 1: that before, and they get some unique hybrid accents at
- 7:18Speaker 1: the times. Some people do that have had that similar experience,
- 7:21Speaker 1: which is kind of fun.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Definitely, and it's I mean, obviously had the biggest impact
- 7:26Speaker 2: in the fact or the biggest perk of all of
- 7:28Speaker 2: that is because you know, since the since the beginning
- 7:30Speaker 2: of the beginning of the band. I've always written all
- 7:33Speaker 2: the lyrics, you know, done obviously all the press and
- 7:35Speaker 2: stuff like that. So for that, it definitely has been
- 7:39Speaker 2: a very rewarding fact that you know, we did always
- 7:42Speaker 2: maintain that fact that we spoke English at home and
- 7:45Speaker 2: I did the English speaking schools and stuff, and then
- 7:47Speaker 2: sort of the Finnish side of me is obviously with
- 7:50Speaker 2: all my friends and you know, some of my family
- 7:52Speaker 2: we do speak in Finnish.
- 7:53Speaker 3: So it's school hybrid of hybrid of definitely.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, And I guess you've based in the best part
- 7:59Speaker 1: of the world too for you know, heavy metal music.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I mean, that's just it's ridiculous.
- 8:04Speaker 2: I mean, if there's ever a place where you want
- 8:07Speaker 2: to start, you know, a metal band, there's no better
- 8:10Speaker 2: place than.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Them, absolutely, And because the reason I ask, I've spoke
- 8:13Speaker 1: to a few hours over the time and they've done that.
- 8:15Speaker 1: They've been from you know, the States, and then they
- 8:18Speaker 1: chosen to go to you know, places like Sweden and
- 8:20Speaker 1: places in Europe to get tractured and it's just been
- 8:23Speaker 1: worked out better for them.
- 8:24Speaker 4: And yeah, so it's definitely the dune thing along the way.
- 8:28Speaker 1: So yeah, one.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Hundred percent, and I mean because you know, like I
- 8:32Speaker 2: was saying earlier, I mean, the possibilities here are I
- 8:36Speaker 2: mean fairly endless, because, like as I was saying, I
- 8:38Speaker 2: was underaged when we started the band, but we managed
- 8:41Speaker 2: to you know, sort out our own festivals at you know,
- 8:44Speaker 2: local youth centers. And I remember one of our first
- 8:47Speaker 2: shows was we played, you know, we played a couple
- 8:50Speaker 2: of songs that I think it was like it was
- 8:52Speaker 2: a high school and they had like they had some
- 8:55Speaker 2: sort of like it was a party for exchange students
- 8:58Speaker 2: or something. Really, you know, we're gonna fucking play, you know,
- 9:01Speaker 2: we brought out our drum sets and all that ship
- 9:03Speaker 2: and we fucking played two songs at an auditorium or something.
- 9:07Speaker 2: So it is definitely possible, you know, more so than
- 9:10Speaker 2: maybe in some other countries to do something. But you
- 9:14Speaker 2: know that that also, you know, it's like that's not everything.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You obviously, you have to have the passion for it.
- 9:20Speaker 2: You have to have the talent and the sort of
- 9:23Speaker 2: the stick to itness that you just have to fucking
- 9:26Speaker 2: go to that rehearsal place every single day.
- 9:28Speaker 1: It's been committed to being consistent, and I mean when
- 9:32Speaker 1: you started it would have been pre streaming platforms and
- 9:37Speaker 1: that kind of thing to be able to gain an
- 9:39Speaker 1: audience and gain traction on you know, whether it be
- 9:41Speaker 1: Spotify or you know, TikTok by a lot of.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Artists have done that and had some success exactly.
- 9:48Speaker 2: And honestly, one of my one of my fondest memories
- 9:51Speaker 2: from those days is also that our first demo, uh
- 9:54Speaker 2: you know where I mean, we are fairly young, but
- 9:56Speaker 2: we're still old enough that our first demo we actually
- 9:59Speaker 2: printed them onto CDs. Yeah, and you know, we did
- 10:02Speaker 2: the fucking cover art, We did all of that and
- 10:05Speaker 2: we sold them like just door to door, and I
- 10:08Speaker 2: think we sold about one hundred and fifty copies.
- 10:10Speaker 3: And I feel like that, you know, that really builds
- 10:13Speaker 3: your character.
- 10:14Speaker 2: You know, for us is now that you'll just do,
- 10:16Speaker 2: you know, post a funny TikTok of your fucking first
- 10:20Speaker 2: demo and then it might gain some traction and a
- 10:23Speaker 2: record label can say, you know, if your if your
- 10:26Speaker 2: TikTok reaches this and this, many people will release your music.
- 10:29Speaker 3: But if it doesn't, then we won't.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And I think that's just that's those are the things
- 10:33Speaker 2: that just kill the creativity.
- 10:35Speaker 1: It can do it can it's and it's the thing
- 10:38Speaker 1: you've gone yourself being what it was previously like in
- 10:41Speaker 1: the change where it's you know, it certainly looked in
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's at now and it's it's just different. But you're
- 10:46Speaker 1: hearing you speak about you know, your time with we
- 10:49Speaker 1: creating were in CDs and you're going out and finding
- 10:51Speaker 1: these and I mean that's why we did it when
- 10:53Speaker 1: we were coming up through and my memories of being
- 10:55Speaker 1: young and scene bands and your band competitions and and
- 10:58Speaker 1: going out and that's.
- 10:59Speaker 4: How you did.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You gain your popularity amongst two years and then hopefully
- 11:04Speaker 1: you know, a radio station may pick it up or
- 11:06Speaker 1: like say, a label and exactly does it builds a character?
- 11:10Speaker 1: And I think also too, like it's coming from that
- 11:13Speaker 1: you know, free free streaming too pre stream.
- 11:16Speaker 4: I think we need to officially need to call it something.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I think so people know, but you.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Know, some people do struggle with it and because it
- 11:25Speaker 1: is so different, but then other people, you know, embrace
- 11:27Speaker 1: it and use it make it work for them. Like
- 11:30Speaker 1: I had one one band say, you know, like you know,
- 11:33Speaker 1: so kind obviously make money on Spotify and things like that,
- 11:36Speaker 1: but what they do is they use it to put
- 11:40Speaker 1: their music out and then get people to their lives
- 11:42Speaker 1: shows because that's what the money is, you know, Merchantlive.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I mean, I think I do agree with you because
- 11:47Speaker 2: I've always I've always been also like, you know, even
- 11:50Speaker 2: though I do talk a fair a lot against it,
- 11:53Speaker 2: I am obviously always been a big, a big sort
- 11:56Speaker 2: of fan of of the possibilities obviously that social media
- 12:01Speaker 2: streaming service. I feel like, you know exactly, and I
- 12:05Speaker 2: feel like, you know, being against the streaming service is
- 12:07Speaker 2: kind of the same as what someone is being when
- 12:09Speaker 2: CDs have come and they're like, now we're just pressing
- 12:12Speaker 2: vinyl or before that with cassettes.
- 12:14Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, it may not be an ideal.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Situation, especially with the you know, the royalty side being
- 12:20Speaker 2: absolute bullshit, but it's just a necessity you have to
- 12:23Speaker 2: make with the situation.
- 12:25Speaker 3: And you know, it's the same thing with with TikTok.
- 12:28Speaker 2: It's like people, I feel like some people just fail
- 12:31Speaker 2: to understand that you don't have to do TikTok the
- 12:34Speaker 2: same way as everyone else. It's like, you don't expect
- 12:36Speaker 2: Carrie King to do a fucking dance on TikTok to
- 12:39Speaker 2: promote a slave record. It's like you can do it
- 12:42Speaker 2: your own way, but you know, in best case scenario,
- 12:45Speaker 2: it can reach such a big audience. It's like what
- 12:48Speaker 2: MTV was back in the day. You have TikTok now.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and that's exactly right. It's just it's not
- 12:54Speaker 4: going anywhere. You just have to make a work for you.
- 12:57Speaker 1: And it's always interesting, to be honest, how they their
- 13:00Speaker 1: approach to it and the things they do.
- 13:01Speaker 4: And you know, I spoke with a band on the weekend.
- 13:04Speaker 1: They're lend of the wall search and the device from there,
- 13:06Speaker 1: and they're coming out to Australia for the first time
- 13:08Speaker 1: and you know, part of that was too old for TikTok,
- 13:11Speaker 1: and so you know they're still engage in it and
- 13:13Speaker 1: use it. But you know, it's it's how you make
- 13:15Speaker 1: it individualized and work for you.
- 13:17Speaker 4: And yeah, it's you have to do it.
- 13:19Speaker 2: It's part of going you know exactly.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 2: But but going back to what you were saying earlier, also,
- 13:28Speaker 2: there is the there is the point I feel like,
- 13:31Speaker 2: you know, when you compare the you know, the days
- 13:33Speaker 2: of yeah, pressing your own CDs and blah blah blah,
- 13:36Speaker 2: there is the point that I feel like a lot
- 13:38Speaker 2: of bands and artists nowadays, they're they're sort of fed
- 13:42Speaker 2: only these success stories or they find a lot of
- 13:44Speaker 2: success and overnight success stories, and that sort of kills
- 13:48Speaker 2: their their their work ethic. And it's like, you know,
- 13:51Speaker 2: if something doesn't happen after the first song or after
- 13:54Speaker 2: the first demo, I'm quitting because you know, it's like
- 13:56Speaker 2: you're you're fed always these stories of oh yeah, you
- 13:59Speaker 2: know what ID a song and then overnight it became
- 14:02Speaker 2: you know, Spotify number one. It's like, because I would
- 14:06Speaker 2: swear on my life that I bet all of these
- 14:09Speaker 2: artists have worked their asses off before that overnight success
- 14:12Speaker 2: has happened. And I feel like that should be talked
- 14:15Speaker 2: about more on social media. It's not about you know,
- 14:19Speaker 2: just being an artist for a month and then blows up.
- 14:22Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, that can happen, but it doesn't usually happen.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And that's been the way it has been always be
- 14:27Speaker 1: fans is that yeah, they might you know, make it
- 14:30Speaker 1: and they come out with an album or a couple
- 14:31Speaker 1: of tracks that you know, gain popularity interaction. But the
- 14:34Speaker 1: truth behind that is that they've been doing that for
- 14:37Speaker 1: years and doing the hard yards and playing you know,
- 14:39Speaker 1: the small gigs in the venues and it doesn't happen overnight,
- 14:43Speaker 1: and it's exactly right, it's still the same, you know,
- 14:45Speaker 1: in this same age. I think you know that may
- 14:47Speaker 1: be the one or two other success stories that you know,
- 14:50Speaker 1: there are the uniforms that you know, get focused on.
- 14:53Speaker 1: But the general rule is that you guys have been
- 14:55Speaker 1: doing it always and for years exactly. You know when
- 14:59Speaker 1: it what it makes, and it happens and then it's
- 15:02Speaker 1: but it's like you know, we say, people don't have
- 15:04Speaker 1: that assistance or that that commitment to doing it. There's
- 15:08Speaker 1: so many, so many great musicians and great songs that
- 15:10Speaker 1: will never be heard because people won't get out of
- 15:13Speaker 1: the bedroom, won't get out of the garage, studio or whatever
- 15:15Speaker 1: it may be.
- 15:15Speaker 4: They don't have that drive.
- 15:16Speaker 1: It's about having, you know, the consistency, the confidence and
- 15:19Speaker 1: the talent, and you really have to step away from
- 15:22Speaker 1: that creative and have almost a business side of minds.
- 15:25Speaker 1: And the truth is that you know, some people can't
- 15:27Speaker 1: because they are locked in so much with that creative personality.
- 15:30Speaker 4: They are one.
- 15:33Speaker 1: So and you know they're the two edgy management as well,
- 15:36Speaker 1: like most fans are any good as the commonis and
- 15:38Speaker 1: management too. So if you got a good relationship and
- 15:41Speaker 1: that's working, that's going to be's marketing you know, Oh.
- 15:45Speaker 3: No, definitely.
- 15:46Speaker 2: But I feel like also it's like for those people
- 15:49Speaker 2: who dream of an overnight success story, it's like, I
- 15:53Speaker 2: feel like it. Also, it doesn't prepare you in any
- 15:56Speaker 2: way for this trip. It's like, if you write your
- 16:00Speaker 2: song and it becomes a hit, obviously everyone's gonna think
- 16:03Speaker 2: the next one is gonna be as big and the
- 16:05Speaker 2: next one after that, and you're gonna you're gonna have
- 16:07Speaker 2: these very unnecessary pressures just.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Stowed upon you.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's like that versus you know, steady steady
- 16:15Speaker 2: growth for like ten years or whatever. It's like, you
- 16:18Speaker 2: know what will happen, and plus then if, if, and
- 16:20Speaker 2: when something big happens, then there's gonna be a you know,
- 16:23Speaker 2: a brilliant back catalog that people can go back to,
- 16:26Speaker 2: and you know you're gonna be prepared to how.
- 16:28Speaker 3: You act on tour, how you do this, and how
- 16:30Speaker 3: you do that.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Absolutely, there's always gonna be those success stories where you know,
- 16:34Speaker 2: it happens like you grow, you blow up overnight, but
- 16:38Speaker 2: then you get burned out within the year.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's right. Well, a lot of people can't
- 16:42Speaker 4: handle it and it's too much, too soon.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It's like anything where really is that you persevere and
- 16:47Speaker 1: you you make your mistakes.
- 16:49Speaker 4: And I always say the wise people have made the
- 16:50Speaker 4: most mistakes.
- 16:51Speaker 1: You know, if you start at the top doing one
- 16:52Speaker 1: way down oh one thousand. Yeah, so let's do you
- 16:58Speaker 1: know you've got that, you got the level mindset. So
- 17:00Speaker 1: for Lot Society was there plans to start tour up
- 17:03Speaker 1: coming off your album is released, So what's the.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yes, the the records coming out March sixth and starting
- 17:10Speaker 2: March seventh, we're going to be doing a three week
- 17:13Speaker 2: European tour, a headline run going to or We're doing Germany, Switzerland,
- 17:18Speaker 2: the UK, a bunch of other countries. So we're gonna
- 17:21Speaker 2: be preoccupied with that for about three weeks.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Uh.
- 17:24Speaker 3: We then we come back to Finland and we have
- 17:26Speaker 3: a one off, pretty.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Big show here in Helsinki, and you know, then we're
- 17:30Speaker 2: gearing up for the summer festival season, which is always
- 17:33Speaker 2: the best, and you know, I mean after that, it's
- 17:36Speaker 2: just gonna be. We always say the same thing to
- 17:38Speaker 2: our agents and management, just to keep us as much
- 17:41Speaker 2: on tour as possible because.
- 17:42Speaker 3: We don't want to do that. So you know, beyond that,
- 17:45Speaker 3: I don't know, we'll.
- 17:46Speaker 1: See what the quite well. Otherwise, touring together, we.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Have definitely got to know each other along the year,
- 17:54Speaker 2: so you know, it's we're we're always looking forward to
- 17:56Speaker 2: hanging out on the bus and just having a break
- 17:59Speaker 2: from our normal lives.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I guess you know it's coming at the
- 18:03Speaker 1: end of back into writing your album?
- 18:05Speaker 4: Would it take Did it take long.
- 18:06Speaker 1: To complete this one that you guys have just about
- 18:08Speaker 1: to put out?
- 18:09Speaker 2: I mean, this was, honestly it was because obviously it
- 18:12Speaker 2: was a couple of years that we took just when
- 18:14Speaker 2: we were touring the last record on and off.
- 18:17Speaker 3: But it was about I mean, from let's say, from
- 18:19Speaker 3: start to.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Finish, about two years at least, you know, songwriting, arranging
- 18:23Speaker 2: the music, recording, mixing and all of that. So it
- 18:27Speaker 2: does take a long time, and this probably took a
- 18:29Speaker 2: bit longer than than.
- 18:31Speaker 3: The previous one, I would say.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Yeah. And so it's called Hell on Earth? Is that right?
- 18:37Speaker 3: It's called hell is a state of mind.
- 18:38Speaker 1: Helen's the state mine? Sorry my bad, Yeah, that's interesting,
- 18:41Speaker 1: interesting title.
- 18:43Speaker 4: I guess the.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Reflection of coming out of your dog times. Is that
- 18:47Speaker 1: related to seeing what it was?
- 18:49Speaker 3: And definitely, it definitely is.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I mean, going back to the point what I said
- 18:53Speaker 2: earlier that I feel like it was sort of a
- 18:55Speaker 2: clean slate that I got to start writing these songs for.
- 18:58Speaker 2: And it's like I feel, I feel like, you know,
- 19:00Speaker 2: this record is very empowering, and it's more about like
- 19:04Speaker 2: a journey of sort of self acceptance than anything else.
- 19:07Speaker 3: And you know, even though it.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Is written from a semi fictional standpoint, it is my story,
- 19:13Speaker 2: written you know, from my angle, talking about you know,
- 19:16Speaker 2: fairly universal subjects, but obviously in my in my from
- 19:21Speaker 2: my angle, because that's all I can offer you know,
- 19:24Speaker 2: the world basically.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So, but it's I think it's a cool.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Sort of challenge of two extremes where basically the record is,
- 19:31Speaker 2: you know, it's a metal record, it is a heavy,
- 19:33Speaker 2: heavy record. But on the other hand, it's a very
- 19:36Speaker 2: empowering sort of lyric and story. So I think those
- 19:39Speaker 2: two things go together very cool, very well, especially you know,
- 19:43Speaker 2: in a in a time and age where everything around
- 19:45Speaker 2: us is absolutely just fucking falling apart. I think it's
- 19:49Speaker 2: to offer people at least, you know, uh, raalty minutes
- 19:52Speaker 2: of safety.
- 19:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and you know that's a kind of beautiful
- 19:56Speaker 1: contrust really, like you say, you know, the metal music,
- 19:59Speaker 1: which is quite hard. The contrast with you know, your
- 20:02Speaker 1: vulnerable state, which and you know, exposing that and sharing
- 20:05Speaker 1: that with your audience and listeners and and tackling those
- 20:09Speaker 1: that reality and giving them some truth and some real life,
- 20:12Speaker 1: lived experience, which you say, in this world that we've
- 20:15Speaker 1: fed so much bullshit and fake realities, and it's yeah,
- 20:20Speaker 1: it's it's refreshing to know that there's art being created
- 20:24Speaker 1: like that that's still being produced and on a high
- 20:27Speaker 1: end level, which is what we always want to see.
- 20:30Speaker 3: That's cool to hear.
- 20:31Speaker 2: But but yeah, I mean that's you know, it's it's
- 20:33Speaker 2: just it's what I was born to do in that way.
- 20:36Speaker 2: You know, it sounds so cliche, but this is it's like,
- 20:39Speaker 2: I don't choose to do this. I just literally have to.
- 20:41Speaker 2: And it's like to you know, to let out all
- 20:44Speaker 2: the emotion that I have inside of myself. But also
- 20:48Speaker 2: knowing that you know, it can have some effect on
- 20:51Speaker 2: someone's life, even in a very minor way, it makes
- 20:54Speaker 2: it all worthwhile.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Absolutely if one person gets something out of it and
- 20:58Speaker 1: your job done. It's not about you know, when it
- 21:00Speaker 1: comes to that, it's not even about the money or
- 21:02Speaker 1: the success. It's just if you can give someone the
- 21:04Speaker 1: gift of you know, they resonate and that's that's a
- 21:07Speaker 1: beautiful you know that no price can be put on that,
- 21:10Speaker 1: And that sounds exactly that's why we do it. It's
- 21:13Speaker 1: for the love of the tunes. It's not for the
- 21:15Speaker 1: for the fame of the portune. I always say for
- 21:17Speaker 1: the broken up with the broken unknown.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Plus, if you do too well as an artist, you're
- 21:23Speaker 2: not going to have enough suffering to write anything anymore.
- 21:27Speaker 3: It always it reminds me of Uh. There was a d.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Snyder interview from years and years ago where he was
- 21:34Speaker 5: he was being interviewed in front of ten Ferraris and
- 21:37Speaker 5: a fucking mansion and a boat or a yacht, and
- 21:40Speaker 5: he was like.
- 21:41Speaker 3: It's very difficult for me to write another We're not
- 21:43Speaker 3: going to take it when I'm pretty satisfied.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, money's on everything, but it gives you options.
- 21:49Speaker 1: You know, I've never seen anyone.
- 21:55Speaker 4: That's so funny so plans to come down under it
- 21:57Speaker 4: all or yet something in the.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Pipeline Oh my god, I really hope. So, I mean
- 22:01Speaker 2: it's we we have not made it there yet. I
- 22:04Speaker 2: actually it was funny during the rite or during the
- 22:07Speaker 2: recording sessions of this record, I actually flew down to
- 22:10Speaker 2: Australia and New Zealand to do a fill in tour
- 22:13Speaker 2: with a band called Amaranth and that was my first
- 22:17Speaker 2: first time in Australia and I absolutely fell in love
- 22:19Speaker 2: with the country and I really hope that this record
- 22:22Speaker 2: will finally bring us down there with lost society.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Oh absolutely, yeah. I think your fans would definitely be
- 22:27Speaker 1: loving that too. So we're about how long ago was
- 22:29Speaker 1: that that you come out?
- 22:30Speaker 2: That was let me see it was twenty twenty four.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I think it was like September October something like that.
- 22:36Speaker 4: We did.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I think we did five shows in Australia and one
- 22:40Speaker 2: show in New Zealand.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, nice nicely to the capitals and yeah and
- 22:45Speaker 1: quick trick.
- 22:46Speaker 4: But I'm definitely so well worth it.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Love.
- 22:48Speaker 1: We love now our fellow musicians from over the oceans
- 22:52Speaker 1: come down and enjoy our country.
- 22:55Speaker 3: It's the best love it always.
- 22:57Speaker 4: Let's see you. Let's good that you got plans, but yeah,
- 22:59Speaker 4: it just gets expensive that the thing.
- 23:00Speaker 1: You know, when you touring the bed, we're a little
- 23:03Speaker 1: bit far away from most most of you guys in
- 23:06Speaker 1: the you know, either the UK, Europe or even stakes.
- 23:08Speaker 1: It's picking me into that after a few hours from
- 23:12Speaker 1: the plane, maybe a stop over here and there. But yeah, definitely,
- 23:15Speaker 1: I haven't heard anyone say that they regretted it yet.
- 23:17Speaker 2: So I was the only thing that I was surprised
- 23:22Speaker 2: about is I was there for probably eight or nine
- 23:25Speaker 2: days and the only I saw just one little spider
- 23:29Speaker 2: on my bed the whole time I was there. I
- 23:31Speaker 2: was like, this fucking country has been promoted in a
- 23:33Speaker 2: very different way to me.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah, well, you know the look there's some urban miss that.
- 23:38Speaker 1: There are some that are very true, like you know,
- 23:41Speaker 1: the snakes at the beach in the sharks like you know,
- 23:44Speaker 1: then you just get to avoid them. But yeah, but
- 23:47Speaker 1: the drop bears you just the drop was very cute,
- 23:54Speaker 1: you know, into like grow alcohol has made the most
- 23:59Speaker 1: heinous noises. I don't know if you've ever googled if
- 24:01Speaker 1: you get a chat I've never heard, just google it
- 24:05Speaker 1: or find an example on one and just listening to
- 24:08Speaker 1: what they sound like. It literally sounds like there is
- 24:11Speaker 1: demons coming through the tree.
- 24:13Speaker 4: It's insane.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I love that. I'm definitely going to google this.
- 24:18Speaker 1: You could maybe like cut it into a track one day,
- 24:22Speaker 1: that would be cool.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Oh, thank you so much.
- 24:25Speaker 1: That mean it's been a pleasure to speak with you.
- 24:28Speaker 3: A great time. Thank you.
