The USS Forrestal experienced a tragedy in the 1960s when a missile was mistakenly launched onboard, resulting in many fires that claimed the lives of over 160 men. One of the men who escaped death that day, only to be captured as a POW a few weeks later, was none other than former senator John McCain.
