- 0:05Speaker 1: I'm Sean Gunn, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown. The
- 0:25Speaker 1: following feature has been rated R by the Motion Picture
- 0:28Speaker 1: Association of America.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It is intended for mature audiences and parental discretion is advised.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It's showtime, folks.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Enjoy the show.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:20Speaker 5: What's up and.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm Brian. And I'm George.
- 1:38Speaker 2: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:40Speaker 2: the Oddity Studios. Back for another in our super series.
- 1:45Speaker 2: And the good thing about these is by the time
- 1:48Speaker 2: we come back to watch... Another movie, usually Marvel movie.
- 1:53Speaker 2: There's a new series, and then we haven't talked about
- 1:56Speaker 2: it since the last time. So we always have an
- 1:58Speaker 2: intro of like, hey, have you been watching Ms.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Marvel?
- 2:02Speaker 2: So I figured this will be a good way to
- 2:04Speaker 2: kind of eat. And they're both Marvel, so it is
- 2:07Speaker 2: a shared universe as much as any of it is.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Yeah, even though... Both things are kind of very different
- 2:13Speaker 1: right now, but yes. Definitely.
- 2:14Speaker 2: So, yeah, what are your thoughts on Ms.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Marvel? I've been enjoying the series. My wife and I
- 2:20Speaker 1: were watching it together. So, yeah, we're thoroughly enjoying the series. Basically,
- 2:25Speaker 1: aside from they had changed a lot about the character's
- 2:29Speaker 1: power set, because in the book she's basically... there's a
- 2:34Speaker 1: group called the Inhumans, which we tried to do those
- 2:37Speaker 1: names to you, it didn't work out. But basically there's
- 2:39Speaker 1: a big event that happens and the events that essentially
- 2:43Speaker 1: changes them to give them their own powers is released
- 2:47Speaker 1: on Earth. And so there's a whole bunch of people
- 2:48Speaker 1: that now are partially Inhuman. And sometimes basically your power
- 2:53Speaker 1: set is like you just get some weird powers, but
- 2:55Speaker 1: you look normal. And sometimes people are like physically changed.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Mutant creatures. Yeah, they become weird creatures. So they have
- 3:03Speaker 1: their abilities. So Kamala was caught up in that. And
- 3:06Speaker 1: so her powers basically was like, you know, body morphism
- 3:09Speaker 1: where she can basically make herself big or small or
- 3:12Speaker 1: stretch her arms and make big fists and all that
- 3:16Speaker 1: sort of stuff. So that got changed dramatically. into the
- 3:19Speaker 1: series so we're like okay well here's this gauntlet we're
- 3:22Speaker 1: going to give you and you're now a jinn that's
- 3:24Speaker 1: going to tie a little bit more into your culture
- 3:27Speaker 1: and so that sort of thing like that but also
- 3:29Speaker 1: kind of like retconning a extremely obscure super team that
- 3:34Speaker 1: also failed in the comics the clandestine um and kind
- 3:39Speaker 1: of just reworking them a little bit and so there
- 3:41Speaker 1: you go but otherwise i mean Kamala is the character
- 3:45Speaker 1: and her family and the culture is completely there for
- 3:48Speaker 1: the books. Uh, Bruno, the red daggers, they're all from
- 3:52Speaker 1: the books. So yeah, I kind of love it.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Like I'm especially coming off of how unthrilled I was
- 4:00Speaker 2: with moon night. I was just kind of like, I
- 4:01Speaker 2: don't know, whatever. It's the next one. I'll watch it.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And like that first episode, I was like, this is
- 4:07Speaker 2: just telling such a good story about this girl and
- 4:10Speaker 2: her life. And I'm like, if you didn't give her superpowers,
- 4:14Speaker 2: I'd probably still be watching this. Like it's, it's telling
- 4:17Speaker 2: a great story. They've got really rich characters. And then
- 4:20Speaker 2: on top of that, it's like immersing you in this
- 4:23Speaker 2: culture that I would say a good majority of Americans
- 4:26Speaker 2: don't know anything about, even though it's happening in America.
- 4:29Speaker 2: It's just, it's such a different culture. And so many people, again,
- 4:34Speaker 2: I don't know that you could have made this going
- 4:36Speaker 2: too far back because people have such weird feelings about
- 4:39Speaker 2: everything that, I'm kind of glad that it's like it's
- 4:42Speaker 2: so open about being immersed in this culture and that,
- 4:46Speaker 2: you know, we don't care. This is our main character
- 4:48Speaker 2: and we're following her life. And so, yeah, I love
- 4:51Speaker 2: how much it's just throwing you in the middle of
- 4:53Speaker 2: what she's dealing with, even if it's very foreign. Again,
- 4:57Speaker 2: it's funny that it's happening in New Jersey for the
- 5:00Speaker 2: most part of it. But yeah, it's still like a
- 5:02Speaker 2: very foreign world to most people that don't live in
- 5:06Speaker 2: that world. So, yeah, it's I was just kind of
- 5:08Speaker 2: fascinated by. that aspect of the story and then on
- 5:12Speaker 2: top of that it's a superhero story and it's very
- 5:14Speaker 2: to me very the first spider-man because it's the only
- 5:18Speaker 2: time we get like a kid like even even hawkeye
- 5:20Speaker 2: she's a little older she's not like high school so
- 5:23Speaker 2: like it's a real coming of age it's a very
- 5:25Speaker 2: totally dealing with a kid learning that they have powers
- 5:29Speaker 2: kind of thing so yeah it feels very and they're
- 5:31Speaker 2: very of the neighborhood too which is definitely the spider-man
- 5:34Speaker 2: movie so yeah i'm really enjoying it i i I
- 5:38Speaker 2: don't know. I wasn't sure what to expect. If anything,
- 5:41Speaker 2: this time I'm the other way. Before I was like,
- 5:44Speaker 2: are we done with this yet? This time I was like,
- 5:46Speaker 2: there's only six episodes.
- 5:47Speaker 6: What the hell?
- 5:49Speaker 1: I think that could easily have done eight.
- 5:51Speaker 2: I feel like it had a bigger story. I think
- 5:53Speaker 2: we could have even spent a little more time with
- 5:55Speaker 2: these characters.
- 5:58Speaker 1: You were saying about being immersed in the culture. I
- 6:00Speaker 1: thought it was fascinating. I've had like a little dash
- 6:03Speaker 1: of Pakistani culture in my life, or at least to
- 6:05Speaker 1: experience that, but I've never seen like a Muslim wedding before.
- 6:08Speaker 1: It's like, oh, that's really cool. You know, I get
- 6:09Speaker 1: to see how that, how it all happens. They're like, oh,
- 6:12Speaker 1: they're everybody sitting around a table and there's, they don't
- 6:14Speaker 1: actually kiss or something like that. It's like, that's really nice.
- 6:16Speaker 1: So yeah, just, just getting to see that and just like, man,
- 6:20Speaker 1: it's a very, you know, joyful kind of series, you know,
- 6:23Speaker 1: even when you're dealing with some darker, you know, stuff
- 6:25Speaker 1: in there, but yeah, it's a very, you know, very
- 6:27Speaker 1: joyful kind of series. But yeah, the thing I've really
- 6:30Speaker 1: noticed too is a lot of, you know, Especially with
- 6:33Speaker 1: Moon Knight, a lot of Egyptians were positively shown there.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And you see that too when we go to Pakistan
- 6:41Speaker 1: and basically go back into the 30s and stuff like that.
- 6:44Speaker 1: It's like the traditional piss filter is gone. Yeah. It's
- 6:49Speaker 1: like you have authentic casts and crew making these shows,
- 6:55Speaker 1: and so they're like, yeah, we're going to represent our
- 6:57Speaker 1: culture and our people and our countries honestly and take
- 7:00Speaker 1: out this stupid fucking filter that is in every movie
- 7:03Speaker 1: that white people make. It's like, we don't need that.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Well, and that's what I think is the most productive thing,
- 7:09Speaker 2: not to make it about that, but I was like,
- 7:12Speaker 2: when I'm watching this, I'm like, yes, we get a
- 7:15Speaker 2: view of this culture that Most people, especially anybody I know,
- 7:19Speaker 2: doesn't know anything about.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Right, yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 2: But it's so well told that the takeaway is she's
- 7:26Speaker 2: dealing with the same stuff as everybody else.
- 7:28Speaker 7: Sure.
- 7:28Speaker 2: She's a teenager. She's annoyed at her mom. She wants
- 7:30Speaker 2: to have freedom and do it. All of these basic truths,
- 7:33Speaker 2: and it's like, that's kind of the point. No matter
- 7:36Speaker 2: who you are, we all go through the same stuff.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It's just like your culture might be a little different
- 7:42Speaker 2: than mine, but I think that's the takeaway, is if
- 7:45Speaker 2: it's a good story... the basic elements are there and
- 7:48Speaker 2: like we connect that way. So, I mean, I, again,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I think that's the most useful thing is I think
- 7:53Speaker 2: there are people that would turn it on and see
- 7:55Speaker 2: it and be like, Oh, I don't know what this is.
- 7:56Speaker 2: And be again, most boring white people are afraid of
- 7:59Speaker 2: anything that's different than what they are. So like there
- 8:02Speaker 2: are people I think who would be turned off by how,
- 8:05Speaker 2: you know, pro Pakistani this is and like what a
- 8:08Speaker 2: realistic look at this life is. And I think I'm like,
- 8:11Speaker 2: if you give it a chance and watch it, that's
- 8:14Speaker 2: going to be the takeaway is you're just, you're going
- 8:15Speaker 2: to connect with these characters regardless of if you feel like, Oh,
- 8:18Speaker 2: I'm different than them. I'm like, no, you're not. That's
- 8:21Speaker 2: kind of the point. If you watch this, there's just
- 8:23Speaker 2: this basic storytelling that comes through. And that, again, I
- 8:27Speaker 2: think was the most interesting thing. Watching it without the
- 8:30Speaker 2: superhero aspect is just, yeah, it's still just telling a
- 8:33Speaker 2: really interesting story regardless.
- 8:35Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 8:36Speaker 1: And how many women have come, you know, like there's,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you know, Kamala story about just trying to find herself
- 8:40Speaker 1: and get her freedom. Um, But then her best friend
- 8:42Speaker 1: who's trying to run for their council within the mosque,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and she's coming along a lot of misogyny because she's
- 8:50Speaker 1: the woman in a man's world. And basically she had
- 8:53Speaker 1: to really fight against that. It's like, how many women
- 8:55Speaker 1: have dealt with that, whether it's not your religion, whether
- 8:57Speaker 1: it's your workplace, or whatever. You've got to deal with
- 9:02Speaker 1: these stupid misogynistic obstacles. you know, are in your way
- 9:05Speaker 1: to succeed. So it's like, yeah, it's like, everybody's got
- 9:07Speaker 1: to deal with that shit.
- 9:08Speaker 2: It's yeah. Again, there's so many aspects of it that
- 9:10Speaker 2: I think are really well done and seem to be
- 9:13Speaker 2: well represented. I guess, you know, you go to other
- 9:15Speaker 2: people that get a, a different take on it, but yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 2: I just from, from my end of it. Yeah. I was,
- 9:21Speaker 2: I was really impressed with what they put together and
- 9:23Speaker 2: how genuine it seems to be. And, And looks amazing. Like,
- 9:27Speaker 2: the color. I was just like.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I know, yeah.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I know that's kind of a thing for once you
- 9:32Speaker 2: get to this culture, you know.
- 9:33Speaker 1: There's a lot of.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But even just the way they shoot, you know, New
- 9:36Speaker 2: Jersey shouldn't be this damn colorful.
- 9:38Speaker 6: But, like, it looks so good.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And that's the fun thing, too, about, you know, a
- 9:42Speaker 1: lot of the... you know, the culture from Pakistan, the
- 9:45Speaker 1: culture from India, whatnot, where all that color comes from, is,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you know, it's a protest because of basically when they
- 9:52Speaker 1: were under British rule and everybody's basically wearing freaking beige,
- 9:56Speaker 1: you know, and just kind of like, you know, just,
- 9:58Speaker 1: you know, stuck in this rut and everything like that.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And so everybody's like, no, it's like we have, we
- 10:02Speaker 1: control ourselves. Like we're going to, you know, we're going
- 10:04Speaker 1: to make this shit pop. And so, yeah, it's like,
- 10:06Speaker 1: it's a beautiful and vibrant look, but it's also, it's
- 10:09Speaker 1: a protest and it's a, you know, it's so ingrained
- 10:12Speaker 1: in the culture. I was like, I love that. But yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: of course, I'm intrigued because at this point right now,
- 10:19Speaker 1: we're a week away from the finale.
- 10:22Speaker 2: By the time you're listening, you've already seen it.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 10:24Speaker 2: If you care, but we're still waiting to wrap it up.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And I think it's interesting how episode five kind of
- 10:30Speaker 1: wraps up a little bit of what was going on
- 10:32Speaker 1: in her family and kind of like her history and
- 10:36Speaker 1: maybe the history of what her abilities and where her
- 10:38Speaker 1: origin comes from being a djinn. But then like, okay,
- 10:41Speaker 1: when you get back to Jersey... There's still this whole,
- 10:44Speaker 1: you know, you've got your boyfriend who's still over there.
- 10:47Speaker 1: He's got something going on. And, oh, yeah, damage control
- 10:49Speaker 1: is kind of waiting for you to hit back the states,
- 10:52Speaker 1: which I like how, you know, damage control in the
- 10:54Speaker 1: comics is basically kind of a joke. No, I mean, literally, like,
- 10:57Speaker 1: it was a comedic comic book when it first came
- 11:00Speaker 1: out that this was the crew that came in and
- 11:02Speaker 1: cleaned up the city when the superheroes blew up everything.
- 11:05Speaker 1: And they dealt with insurance problems and claims and, you know,
- 11:08Speaker 1: all that kind. So they dealt with all the boring paperwork.
- 11:11Speaker 1: And that was the funny thing. And then now they've
- 11:13Speaker 1: been turned into kind of like this, you know, since S.H.I.E.L.D.
- 11:16Speaker 1: no longer exists, like they're kind of the new thing.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Now it's in control of things. And they're not a joke.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But at the same time, it's like, ugh.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Now it's like the CIA showing up to bust you
- 11:27Speaker 2: for something. Or FBI. You're like, yeah, so now for superheroes, it's, yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 2: you're in trouble.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah, because we had such, we felt like, you know,
- 11:35Speaker 1: even though S.H.I.E.L.D. had its own little sometimes dastardly things
- 11:38Speaker 1: they did too. we felt like they were on our side,
- 11:41Speaker 1: whereas Damage Control is clearly not.
- 11:44Speaker 2: It just seems like another government outlet doing whatever it
- 11:48Speaker 2: is they do. You can't trust them at all.
- 11:51Speaker 1: I know, but yeah, so I've been enjoying the series thoroughly,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and of course, you know, in August we've got She-Hulk
- 11:56Speaker 1: coming up, which that's going to be an entirely, tonally
- 12:00Speaker 1: different series than both Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I do wonder, again, with, like, introducing all these characters, like,
- 12:09Speaker 2: where are they going exactly? And like, how much are
- 12:12Speaker 2: they going to stick to the series format versus crossing
- 12:16Speaker 2: over into the big screen? And how much are they
- 12:18Speaker 2: going to start teaming up and putting them together on
- 12:21Speaker 2: series or movies or whatever?
- 12:23Speaker 1: So, Oh, I guarantee you, you know, our, our, because
- 12:27Speaker 1: we haven't had a cut scene yet. So I guess,
- 12:29Speaker 1: I guess our cut scene will be in episode six
- 12:31Speaker 1: from his Marvel.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 1: And it's going to be something that's going to link
- 12:33Speaker 1: her into the Marvel's film because that's when we're going
- 12:36Speaker 1: to see her next.
- 12:37Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 1: So whether we see Tiana Parrish show up or we
- 12:40Speaker 1: get Brie herself making a cameo, one of those two
- 12:44Speaker 1: women are going to be in the end of that
- 12:46Speaker 1: series to say, hey, what's up, Kamala? Let's go over
- 12:49Speaker 1: here and do Marvel things. So there you go. But yeah,
- 12:55Speaker 1: She-Hulk's going to be a lot of fun because basically
- 12:57Speaker 1: the whole, like, you know, it's going to have a
- 12:59Speaker 1: little bit more of a comedic and lighter tone to it,
- 13:03Speaker 1: even though you're dealing with a Hulk character. You're going
- 13:06Speaker 1: to have the legal... I saw the trailer.
- 13:08Speaker 2: I was kind of surprised they got Mark in there, too.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I thought maybe he was just like, all right, whatever,
- 13:12Speaker 2: take this. But the fact that he's making an appearance
- 13:15Speaker 2: in the series is pretty cool.
- 13:17Speaker 1: It's very... It would be a crime to the show
- 13:21Speaker 1: and to the character to not have him in there
- 13:24Speaker 1: because he's very integral to her origin.
- 13:27Speaker 2: I agree, but I... It was one of those I
- 13:30Speaker 2: wasn't sure they were going to be able to lure
- 13:31Speaker 2: him over. Granted, they had Disney money. But still, I
- 13:34Speaker 2: was like, if he's sort of done or just kind
- 13:36Speaker 2: of wants to stick to the big movies every once
- 13:38Speaker 2: in a while. But like the fact that he came
- 13:40Speaker 2: in to do the series, I was like, that's cool
- 13:42Speaker 2: on his part. And I'm glad they like stuck to
- 13:45Speaker 2: it and like got him in there.
- 13:47Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 1: And I think, too, because, of course, you know. His
- 13:50Speaker 1: thing with the CG, all he's got to do is
- 13:51Speaker 1: wear a mo-cap suit.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Yeah. At this point, they have him more than him,
- 13:55Speaker 2: you know? It's like they could probably do it without
- 13:57Speaker 2: him showing up.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Right, yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: They've probably gotten so much in the hard drive at
- 14:01Speaker 2: this point, they don't even need him anymore.
- 14:03Speaker 1: But there's still some story to tell on Bruce himself.
- 14:06Speaker 1: A lot, really.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Like, we don't know what's going on since the last...
- 14:10Speaker 2: There's a lot of gray area there with him.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because when we saw him in Endgame, of course,
- 14:14Speaker 1: you know, his arm was injured because of the Infinity Gauntlet,
- 14:17Speaker 1: and he was in smart Hulk form, and then when
- 14:19Speaker 1: we see him in Shang-Chi, it's like he's Bruce again. Like,
- 14:24Speaker 1: his arm's still messed up, and he's Bruce. Like, okay.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Well, and he has his mental issues anyway, where we've
- 14:32Speaker 2: got a whole movie where he is Hulk and won't
- 14:34Speaker 2: turn back, and then we have a whole other movie
- 14:36Speaker 2: where he won't turn into the Hulk anymore. So, like,
- 14:39Speaker 2: There's a lot of little weird mental things going on
- 14:42Speaker 2: inside Bruce's head.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. So I'll be interested in that. But I've
- 14:46Speaker 1: read some very interesting things in the upcoming Echo series.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Of course, spinning off from Hawkeye. Yeah. Her series has
- 14:53Speaker 1: turned out to be a little bit bigger. I think
- 14:54Speaker 1: they knew that going into it. Because, okay, well, this
- 14:57Speaker 1: is a character we introduced in the series that you
- 15:00Speaker 1: don't know. We're giving her her own series. And to
- 15:03Speaker 1: put a little emphasis on that, we're going to pack
- 15:07Speaker 1: this a bit. So we know Wilson Fisk will be
- 15:10Speaker 1: making multiple appearances in the series because we kind of
- 15:13Speaker 1: see what happened to him after he supposedly got shot
- 15:16Speaker 1: in the face.
- 15:17Speaker 2: That won't stop him.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Possibly it will involve his current storyline in the comics
- 15:23Speaker 1: where he basically tries to run for mayor of New
- 15:25Speaker 1: York City. Nice.
- 15:27Speaker 2: They've done worse.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah, well, yeah, exactly. Exactly. Um, we should also probably
- 15:32Speaker 1: see Charlie Cox's daredevil pop up a couple of times
- 15:35Speaker 1: in the series. Uh, and interestingly enough, he may be
- 15:39Speaker 1: in a different daredevil suit than he may be in
- 15:42Speaker 1: the black and red as opposed to the red and black,
- 15:45Speaker 1: which kind of signifies something interesting. Uh, and he may
- 15:48Speaker 1: be looking for Jessica Jones.
- 15:50Speaker 2: It is amazing that they found a way to loop
- 15:53Speaker 2: those in when we thought for a while there, they
- 15:55Speaker 2: were like, Nope, the dead and nobody's ever gonna, they
- 15:58Speaker 2: can't even cross them over. But yeah, Of course, money,
- 16:01Speaker 2: you know, Disney can do whatever. Yeah. Which there's good
- 16:05Speaker 2: aspects to that as well. So I'm glad when they
- 16:07Speaker 2: work it the right way and we get something good out.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it seems like Disney has kind of come on
- 16:13Speaker 1: board once they got all the Netflix shows on there.
- 16:15Speaker 1: It's like, okay, we're definitely doing something with Charlie Cox
- 16:16Speaker 1: because you all won't leave us alone about it.
- 16:18Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, Daredevil was so popular when it came out.
- 16:21Speaker 2: You'd think they would want more of that.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And it looks like Jessica and Luke will probably get
- 16:25Speaker 1: a second life. Iron Fist, they promote, it's like, eh,
- 16:29Speaker 1: we're not doing anything.
- 16:29Speaker 2: So did the rest of the world.
- 16:31Speaker 1: Yeah, and interestingly enough, Punisher, of course, came over with
- 16:34Speaker 1: all those series. and a lot of fans have talked
- 16:37Speaker 1: about wanting to see Jon Bernthal come back, but Disney
- 16:40Speaker 1: has been very interestingly mum about the whole thing. They
- 16:43Speaker 1: pretty much said, Iron Fist, sorry, you're not coming to
- 16:46Speaker 1: the party, but have said literally, absolutely nothing about the Punisher.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Punisher is a weird property, especially for them to work in.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I mean, you know, you could do a Punisher series that...
- 17:04Speaker 1: Still involves Frank killing a lot of people. But, I mean, like,
- 17:08Speaker 1: you were able to do, you know, at times a
- 17:11Speaker 1: violent Moon Knight series. And, you know, it wasn't every episode.
- 17:17Speaker 1: And it was bloodless. But you still had a violent
- 17:20Speaker 1: Moon Knight series.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I want a level-headed, socially conscious Punisher.
- 17:25Speaker 9: Why?
- 17:26Speaker 2: That just uses Nerf guns.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Well, I say.
- 17:30Speaker 2: There's some pretty hardcore Nerf guns out there.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Come on now. What would be really cool is if
- 17:36Speaker 1: they tried to incorporate what's going on in the books now,
- 17:38Speaker 1: which basically, Frank's taking a different turn. He is currently
- 17:44Speaker 1: a general for the Hand, as in the evil ninja clan.
- 17:49Speaker 1: They made him an offer that he couldn't refuse. Basically,
- 17:52Speaker 1: they want to follow his example and follow his mission
- 17:56Speaker 1: of killing criminals. Sometimes he has to remind them who
- 17:59Speaker 1: the criminals are and not kill everybody. But since the
- 18:02Speaker 1: Hand basically have some mystical abilities as in bringing people
- 18:06Speaker 1: back to life or extending people's lives, they brought his
- 18:11Speaker 1: wife back to the dead.
- 18:12Speaker 2: That's what I was going to say. That's his only motivation, really.
- 18:14Speaker 2: So if you could tease with that, you could probably
- 18:16Speaker 2: get him to do whatever you want. Yeah.
- 18:18Speaker 1: And so he's been enjoying some time with basically just
- 18:21Speaker 1: he and the wife. Well, the wife is having some
- 18:23Speaker 1: episodes where, because of course, like you, her memory is
- 18:27Speaker 1: very spotty. but you can still see the marks where
- 18:30Speaker 1: the bullets went in, like their scars. And so she
- 18:34Speaker 1: hasn't put two and two together, like looking at herself
- 18:36Speaker 1: in the mirror going, what's with all these scars on
- 18:38Speaker 1: my face? But she has asked, where are the children?
- 18:41Speaker 1: A legit question for a mother. And she's had a
- 18:44Speaker 1: couple of episodes where she kind of freaks out and
- 18:46Speaker 1: starts to remember, and then basically the hand's like, okay, well,
- 18:51Speaker 1: we're going to have to assuage her to keep her
- 18:54Speaker 1: happy and to keep Frank happy, so we're bringing the
- 18:57Speaker 1: kids back. They're teasing it.
- 18:59Speaker 2: This is just Pet Sematary at this point.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. There is going to be a reckoning like
- 19:05Speaker 1: no other when the fit hits the shan on this one.
- 19:08Speaker 1: There are going to be a lot of dead ninjas
- 19:13Speaker 1: pretty soon.
- 19:14Speaker 2: That's what you do with ninjas. That's why you have
- 19:16Speaker 2: a whole bunch of them around.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You just waste them. The hand does always bring people back,
- 19:21Speaker 1: but yes, very much like Pet Sematary, they don't come
- 19:24Speaker 1: back the same way they left.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Sometimes dead's better.
- 19:30Speaker 1: Sometimes dead is better, yes.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Alright. Are we ready?
- 19:35Speaker 1: We are ready.
- 19:36Speaker 2: For this special installment.
- 19:39Speaker 1: We're ready to wreck the house! Get more out of life.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Go out to a movie.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Kids get to pop corner. Let me tell you the
- 19:58Speaker 4: story of the space Viking Thor Odinson. He was no
- 20:02Speaker 4: ordinary man. He was a god. After saving planet Earth
- 20:07Speaker 4: for the 500th time, Thor set off on a new journey.
- 20:11Speaker 4: When he got in shape, he went from dead bod
- 20:15Speaker 4: to god bod. And after all that, he reclaimed his
- 20:20Speaker 4: title as the one and only Thor. Oh, spoke too soon.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Jane? The old ex-girlfriend.
- 20:38Speaker 6: What's it been like? Three, four years?
- 20:40Speaker 1: Eight years, seven months.
- 20:41Speaker 4: And six days, give or take.
- 20:44Speaker 3: My own sensing feelings.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Well, you're right.
- 20:53Speaker 2: The only ones who gods care about is.
- 20:58Speaker 1: Themselves.
- 21:02Speaker 2: So this is my vow.
- 21:05Speaker 3: All gods will die.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I just want to say that was very, very impressive,
- 21:14Speaker 1: what you did back there.
- 21:18Speaker 10: It's just my first bad guy.
- 21:22Speaker 3: They never forget you first.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, the guns have.
- 21:35Speaker 10: Killed.
- 21:36Speaker 1: We have something.
- 21:36Speaker 11: Worth fighting for. This episode of Soca.
- 21:56Speaker 9: Theater is brought to you by Guns N' Roses. Guns
- 22:00Speaker 9: N' Roses, your favorite band. Get their shirts at Target.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Once I at least found out why, I was okay
- 22:26Speaker 2: with it. But in the theater, I was like, what
- 22:28Speaker 2: are we doing? Like.
- 22:30Speaker 1: This was the hair metal Thor movie.
- 22:34Speaker 2: We can get back to that. Okay, so. This week's
- 22:37Speaker 2: Silver Theater feature... Oh, no, wait. We went out on
- 22:39Speaker 2: the town.
- 22:40Speaker 1: We did go.
- 22:41Speaker 2: So, we've gone into the world once again.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 22:45Speaker 2: It's getting more normal now. We're used to it.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Out to the unwashed masses.
- 22:48Speaker 2: So, this out on the town feature is Thor, colon...
- 22:53Speaker 2: Love and Thunder. The year is 2022. The director, Taika Waititi.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And the plot, according to IMDb, Thor enlists the help
- 23:04Speaker 2: of Valkyrie, Korg, and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster to fight Gorr
- 23:09Speaker 2: the God Butcher who intends to make gods extinct. Not
- 23:14Speaker 2: too far off. Spoiler alert, we're going to ruin the
- 23:18Speaker 2: hell out of this like we always do.
- 23:19Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I'm assuming if you care, you've already gone to see it,
- 23:22Speaker 2: so But you have been warned. Now, where do you
- 23:27Speaker 2: want to begin?
- 23:29Speaker 1: Well, like I said, this was the hair metal Thor.
- 23:31Speaker 1: So the opening Marvel thing where you expect the... Yeah,
- 23:38Speaker 1: that sort of thing. It was played by Slash. That
- 23:41Speaker 1: was kind of fun.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I mean, if you're going to get this done, you
- 23:45Speaker 2: bring Slash.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Another fun fact before we get into anything. This
- 23:49Speaker 1: was the Hemsworth family affair. I mean, not quite literally,
- 23:55Speaker 1: because we were missing a couple of brothers. We were
- 23:58Speaker 1: missing the youngest and then the one who doesn't act
- 24:00Speaker 1: at all. But we had two Hemsworth brothers, one Mrs. Hemsworth,
- 24:05Speaker 1: and two of the three children in this movie. I
- 24:07Speaker 1: knew the kid was young Thor.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Uncredited. I saw that, but yeah.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Gore's daughter is his daughter. Hmm.
- 24:17Speaker 2: I wonder if that's just planning ahead, jumping to the end.
- 24:20Speaker 1: No shit, it's planning ahead.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Like, look, we're going to get us some extra work
- 24:23Speaker 2: out of this one. We've got a whole second paycheck
- 24:26Speaker 2: coming in now.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 24:29Speaker 2: All right, we jumped way too far. So, I guess
- 24:33Speaker 2: we start with the real star of this movie, Korg,
- 24:36Speaker 2: who is narrating the whole thing and is kind of
- 24:41Speaker 2: explaining everything to us. Once again, if you need a
- 24:45Speaker 2: recap first, Korg got you covered.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Yes.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And, yeah, I mean, there's a reason he's in this movie.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Because from his first appearance, like, people loved Korg. And
- 24:56Speaker 2: he's been back as often as we could work him in. So, thankfully.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I do like that he's just become his full-time sidekick now.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Because even when the Guardians leave, like, there's no question. Like,
- 25:07Speaker 2: he's like, well, obviously, I'm hanging out with Thor.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I was thinking about him, yeah.
- 25:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I do like that he's just hanging out.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I know, and we, you know, of course, I'm jumping ahead, too. Like,
- 25:16Speaker 1: we even get a little tease where, oh, were we
- 25:18Speaker 1: losing Korg? No, that's not how things work because he's
- 25:21Speaker 1: a much different physiology. But it always blows my mind
- 25:26Speaker 1: with how much, like, people have embraced Korg. It's like, dude,
- 25:29Speaker 1: if you guys would read World War Hulk, Korg's not
- 25:33Speaker 1: as bad, but Meek is a son of a bitch.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I was laughing every time I saw Meek in a
- 25:41Speaker 1: fancy suit. It's like she's got the checkered plaid pantsuit
- 25:48Speaker 1: with the feathered ruffle. I was like, oh my god.
- 25:52Speaker 2: I was so glad because at one point we thought
- 25:55Speaker 2: Meek was dead. Not only are you back, but you've
- 25:58Speaker 2: got yourself a fancy government job now. Official duties. You're
- 26:03Speaker 2: running things around there.
- 26:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Korg's just out wandering around being a bum with Thor.
- 26:08Speaker 2: So you did something. Put together a real life.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Maybe Korg's much more the warrior against than Meek was.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Meek seemed to be just forced into it. I don't know.
- 26:19Speaker 2: You can't get the witty dialogue. That's why Korg's so
- 26:23Speaker 2: funny because he's, you know.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:25Speaker 2: And I wonder who does the voice for him. Why
- 26:27Speaker 2: he gets all the good dialogue.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. Kind of convenient. It's like, well, we'll let
- 26:32Speaker 1: you direct this movie and you get to play it
- 26:33Speaker 1: a little bit.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I'm going to write myself into this a lot. You
- 26:36Speaker 2: guys are cool with that, right? They're like, yeah, actually,
- 26:39Speaker 2: we are.
- 26:39Speaker 1: That's fine, yeah.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Everybody loves you.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yeah, hit movie, yeah. But yeah, a lot of little
- 26:45Speaker 1: fun things in this movie. Like, we get to see
- 26:47Speaker 1: our Asgardian players once again doing, you know, recapping Ragnarok
- 26:52Speaker 1: for us, the events of Ragnarok for us. We missed
- 26:54Speaker 1: that one.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Which initially, I thought, oh, that's fun. I like that
- 26:58Speaker 2: they're back. And then I just went on a tangent of,
- 27:02Speaker 2: how the hell did they get here? Huh? Where did
- 27:05Speaker 2: any of the leftover Asgardians end up on Earth?
- 27:08Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Everybody had escape pods?
- 27:12Speaker 1: No, basically he took a whole shitload of the whole
- 27:15Speaker 1: spaceship full of people.
- 27:16Speaker 2: That got killed, right?
- 27:18Speaker 1: No, that's the thing. There were some that, you know,
- 27:21Speaker 1: the people that were on that one main ship were killed,
- 27:25Speaker 1: but there were other Asgardians who survived and they... inhabited
- 27:30Speaker 1: new asgardia now of course it is a touristy site
- 27:32Speaker 1: so it's probably there's a lot more human intermingling than
- 27:36Speaker 1: there previously was.
- 27:37Speaker 2: That's what even in the first time we saw new
- 27:39Speaker 2: asgard i was like i assumed a lot of it
- 27:42Speaker 2: was just humans and they're like there's because they just
- 27:44Speaker 2: sort of took over somebody else's country anyway so yeah
- 27:46Speaker 2: but they.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Did but i mean they're bringing in a lot of
- 27:48Speaker 1: resources and you know and you know whatever else but
- 27:51Speaker 1: yeah so but yes there's probably a lot more intermingling
- 27:54Speaker 1: going on there but Yeah, but still.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I just started questioning it. I was like, wait a minute.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Where did you two come from?
- 28:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Or three, because we have Odin, too.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah, and bringing in Melissa McCarthy as Hela was an
- 28:07Speaker 1: inspired choice.
- 28:09Speaker 2: That was pretty great.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Her busting through, I'm like, yes! And, of course, her husband, Ben,
- 28:17Speaker 1: showed up right there at the end for the balance.
- 28:19Speaker 1: So he's the director of this whole thing.
- 28:20Speaker 10: Of course.
- 28:21Speaker 1: It's like, oh, thank you, thank you.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yep.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I didn't think you could one-up the acting troupe that
- 28:28Speaker 2: was already there in Ragnarok.
- 28:30Speaker 1: And then giving them a second scene where like, oh,
- 28:32Speaker 1: they want to turn the current tragedy into a play.
- 28:35Speaker 2: At this point, people need art.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I just love it. It's like Matt Damon has worked
- 28:41Speaker 1: himself into the MCU and this is the way he's
- 28:44Speaker 1: worked himself in. That's just, thank you. That's just like,
- 28:48Speaker 1: you know what?
- 28:48Speaker 2: Damon is a weirdo. I like him and all, but
- 28:51Speaker 2: his weird, I want to shove myself in bit parts
- 28:53Speaker 2: in everyone else's movie that's been going on for like
- 28:57Speaker 2: 25 years now.
- 28:58Speaker 1: But it's like, he's got his, he had his franchise
- 29:01Speaker 1: of the Bourne Identity, made all this cash there, kind
- 29:03Speaker 1: of stuff like that, but he's fine doing whatever the
- 29:05Speaker 1: hell he wants to, or he's doing these weird movies,
- 29:07Speaker 1: you know, he's going to buy a zoo, and whatever
- 29:09Speaker 1: the hell else he's going to do, but But yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 1: but just like him just showing up as like an
- 29:13Speaker 1: actor recreating, you know, great Asgardian legends, you know, for
- 29:18Speaker 1: a stage audience. Like, oh, love that shit.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yep, that was fun to see.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Yeah, so, yeah.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I did, I guess just to throw it out there,
- 29:27Speaker 2: I did, for some reason, I don't normally do this
- 29:30Speaker 2: going in, but I think I just wanted to watch
- 29:32Speaker 2: something and I was like, let's throw this on, this on.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I was going back and forth. I figured I'd end
- 29:40Speaker 2: up watching marvel anyway so then i was like let's
- 29:42Speaker 2: just go ahead and throw ragnarok back on oh yeah
- 29:45Speaker 2: yeah because i have watched it again since then but
- 29:47Speaker 2: it's still been a while and then um so yeah
- 29:50Speaker 2: i watched that just before the new one so it
- 29:53Speaker 2: is interesting kind of counterbalancing that it's also really interesting
- 29:57Speaker 2: seeing her hello It was like, I just saw the other, like,
- 30:01Speaker 2: that's a different thing.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:03Speaker 2: A very different inspired performance. But yeah, so it's, it's
- 30:08Speaker 2: really weird that it is still the same director because
- 30:12Speaker 2: as much of the comedic tone is still kind of there.
- 30:15Speaker 2: It feels pretty different.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I don't know. Well, this is definitely a lot more
- 30:19Speaker 1: heart as in this movie for obvious reasons. Yeah. So, yeah,
- 30:22Speaker 1: it has a little bit more of an emotional kind
- 30:24Speaker 1: of feel to it. But, yeah, I mean, it's like
- 30:26Speaker 1: it makes sense, though, because, you know, Thor does have
- 30:29Speaker 1: a much very different place in the MCU now. It's like, okay,
- 30:33Speaker 1: it's like he's basically... It's like he and Bruce and
- 30:36Speaker 1: Clint are like the last of the original Avengers.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:39Speaker 1: You know, everybody else is dead or retired. So, that's
- 30:43Speaker 1: kind of messed up.
- 30:44Speaker 2: You know.
- 30:46Speaker 1: you know, all this group and everything else you represented,
- 30:49Speaker 1: those are all kind of gone. And so, you know,
- 30:52Speaker 1: you went through this great traumatic event, several traumatic events,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you know, in your rather long lifespan, but all that
- 30:59Speaker 1: trauma was at one focal point. And so it's like, yeah,
- 31:04Speaker 1: you're pretty well shaken. And so, and to have, you know,
- 31:07Speaker 1: the scenes with the guardians, I was, I've, I could
- 31:09Speaker 1: have gone with a lot more of them palling around
- 31:11Speaker 1: doing their stuff together.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I assumed initially when they put them together at the
- 31:15Speaker 2: end of that movie and then when they were supposedly
- 31:17Speaker 2: coming back to do more, I thought it was going
- 31:19Speaker 2: to be more of that. I don't... Again, they almost
- 31:24Speaker 2: work better as their own separate thing.
- 31:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 31:27Speaker 2: I like those two movies on their own. And we
- 31:30Speaker 2: really don't get a lot of interaction there. I guess
- 31:33Speaker 2: a little bit in Infinity War.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Rocket's the only one that hangs around, so you get
- 31:37Speaker 2: a good amount with him overall.
- 31:39Speaker 1: Well, you definitely get a lot. Star-Lord definitely kind of
- 31:43Speaker 1: stuck it like a turd in a punch bowl with
- 31:45Speaker 1: everybody else because basically he's too stupid to know he's
- 31:47Speaker 1: not the best hero there.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I think that's why I was glad that they took off.
- 31:51Speaker 2: I've got such a weird thing with him lately. I'm
- 31:55Speaker 2: so tired of him. I.
- 31:58Speaker 1: I put a lot of the whatever else past that
- 32:00Speaker 1: and just kind of focus on it.
- 32:02Speaker 2: And it's both, though. That's the thing. If it's a
- 32:05Speaker 2: problem with the actor as an actor or whatever artist
- 32:08Speaker 2: as an artist, I try to separate those two. But
- 32:12Speaker 2: I also am very... Before all of that happened in
- 32:15Speaker 2: the real world, in Infinity War, I'm just so angry
- 32:19Speaker 2: with Star-Lord for screwing everything up. I legitimately, in the theater,
- 32:23Speaker 2: was like... idiot like they had it they had it
- 32:26Speaker 2: and you screwed it up and everybody dies because of
- 32:29Speaker 2: you so like i was already annoyed at the character
- 32:32Speaker 2: from that point on and then he's also as an
- 32:36Speaker 2: actor turned out kind of weird lately so i will
- 32:40Speaker 2: be glad to watch the new movie it's i like
- 32:42Speaker 2: again i like the concept i like the crew i
- 32:44Speaker 2: like everything else but i just have to shove that
- 32:47Speaker 2: off and because i have somebody that i a more
- 32:50Speaker 2: normal person, if you will, keeps asking me if I've
- 32:53Speaker 2: watched the tomorrow war or whatever that thing is that
- 32:55Speaker 2: he's in. Oh yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 1: The Amazon one.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Yeah. And I'm just like, no, it's like mostly cause
- 33:01Speaker 2: I don't want to watch it. And I've heard terrible
- 33:04Speaker 2: things about it, but.
- 33:05Speaker 1: I mean, cause he's got, there's, there's a new movie
- 33:08Speaker 1: he's got now called the terminal list. It's like a
- 33:10Speaker 1: spy thriller or something like that.
- 33:11Speaker 2: And that's, yeah, that's also promo for that.
- 33:13Speaker 1: That's also getting terrible reviews too. Uh, tomorrow war is okay.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Uh, It's probably the best I've heard of it.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it's not great. It didn't blow me away. Frankly,
- 33:26Speaker 1: The Atom Project on Netflix, which kind of has a
- 33:30Speaker 1: bit of a sci-fi, timey-wimey kind of element to it
- 33:34Speaker 1: as well, is a much more fun and better executed movie.
- 33:38Speaker 1: But also has a lot to do with Ryan Reynolds
- 33:40Speaker 1: being a much more likable actor. Yeah, I mean.
- 33:45Speaker 1: So yeah, if you want to take the two of those,
- 33:46Speaker 1: Adam Project is a much better film.
- 33:47Speaker 2: I did watch that one, so that tells you. I
- 33:52Speaker 2: saw that and went, oh yeah, I want to see that.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And then I saw the other one and went, I
- 33:56Speaker 2: don't think so.
- 33:58Speaker 1: This is not a bad movie by any means, but
- 34:02Speaker 1: it's also like, okay, if you've seen everything else... Go ahead.
- 34:07Speaker 1: But if you've got other stuff you need to see,
- 34:09Speaker 1: or maybe you were putting this off, or maybe there's
- 34:12Speaker 1: this old movie you want to check out, go ahead
- 34:14Speaker 1: and do that.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I think it was also around that time. Yeah, it
- 34:18Speaker 2: was before that, I guess. But I didn't see it
- 34:20Speaker 2: right away. So it was around that same time that
- 34:22Speaker 2: Passengers came out. And I still kind of blame him
- 34:24Speaker 2: for that, too.
- 34:25Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Maybe the decision of making it, but definitely that character
- 34:29Speaker 2: within that movie, I'm just like, what?
- 34:33Speaker 1: I avoided that movie.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Oh. wow if you just want to be like puzzled
- 34:38Speaker 2: i mean i'm just watching it going.
- 34:40Speaker 6: A studio was okay with you making this story i
- 34:45Speaker 6: mean i don't know maybe it's based on something else
- 34:48Speaker 6: but i'm like there's just a big turn in there
- 34:50Speaker 6: and i'm just like okay i can't like this character
- 34:54Speaker 6: anymore and now we have an hour left in this
- 34:58Speaker 6: movie i'm like so what are we supposed to do
- 35:00Speaker 6: with this guy like it's And the movie itself wants
- 35:05Speaker 6: to make a turn and be like, no, he's fine.
- 35:07Speaker 1: He's a hero. Yay.
- 35:08Speaker 2: I'm just like, I don't like this guy. So I
- 35:11Speaker 2: already was sort of holding him responsible for passengers. And
- 35:14Speaker 2: then he screws up Infinity War. And so, yeah, I'm
- 35:17Speaker 2: just annoyed at Chris Pratt.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Well, the thing is, anytime I see Chris Pratt, of course,
- 35:23Speaker 1: I'm a big Parks and Recreation fan.
- 35:24Speaker 2: See, I liked him on that.
- 35:26Speaker 1: He's always going to be Andy Dwyer to me. And
- 35:29Speaker 1: he could be a.
- 35:32Speaker 1: Rhodes Scholar in real life, but he's always going to
- 35:35Speaker 1: be a flaming dipshit because I see him as Andy Dwyer.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And then it's funny that he takes the role of
- 35:40Speaker 1: Star-Lord because when Star-Lord first came out in the 70s,
- 35:43Speaker 1: he was a very bland kind of hero. Like, other
- 35:46Speaker 1: things around Star-Lord's world were far more interesting than the
- 35:49Speaker 1: character itself. Obviously.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Still, like, the whole crew is way cooler than him.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Well, it's this thing. When Star-Lord was first created, there
- 35:55Speaker 1: was no crew. Like, he was not a part of
- 35:57Speaker 1: the Guardians of the Galaxy. He was just another space hero.
- 35:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:00Speaker 1: He had a ship called Ship That was sentient. Like,
- 36:03Speaker 1: he would have conversations with his ship and they would...
- 36:07Speaker 1: And then he had a weapon called the Sun Gun,
- 36:09Speaker 1: which basically was like an element. He could harness the
- 36:12Speaker 1: elements through this weapon. You know, sort of a thing
- 36:14Speaker 1: like that. But the whole Guardians thing, there was a
- 36:18Speaker 1: different team. There was a whole thing. So he was
- 36:20Speaker 1: kind of like a character who was introduced to little
- 36:23Speaker 1: anthology books or magazines or whatever else. So they could
- 36:26Speaker 1: try to do some weird sci-fi stuff. He didn't catch on.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Fast forward about 30, 25, 30 years, and a group
- 36:36Speaker 1: of guys by the name of Dan Abnett and Andy
- 36:38Speaker 1: Lanning are redoing Guardians of the Galaxy, and they bring
- 36:41Speaker 1: Star-Lord out from obscurity. And they bust out a couple
- 36:44Speaker 1: other heroes from obscurity as well. We've got a whole
- 36:46Speaker 1: new Guardians team, which is basically the team we know
- 36:49Speaker 1: from the movies. Yeah. Minus a few other people who,
- 36:52Speaker 1: for legal reasons, can't be involved in the movies.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Yet.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Yet.
- 36:56Speaker 2: We'll iron those details out later.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Dude, if Bug ever shows up in a Guardians of
- 37:00Speaker 1: the Galaxy movie, there will be millions of fans who
- 37:04Speaker 1: will shit themselves because there's no way Hasbro is giving
- 37:08Speaker 1: that up.
- 37:09Speaker 2: At this point, I don't put anything past.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I mean, literally, Hasbro would have to go out of
- 37:15Speaker 1: business for them to give up the rights to that
- 37:17Speaker 1: character because they're like, no, we want to keep some money, Disney.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Stranger things have happened.
- 37:22Speaker 1: You can't have this. So, yeah, but nonetheless. But this
- 37:27Speaker 1: is kind of more of that era of the book's crew,
- 37:31Speaker 1: and Star-Lord was a broken man when we see him
- 37:34Speaker 1: at this point. He's not a goofy kind of guy,
- 37:38Speaker 1: but he's definitely no longer the superhero thing anymore, and
- 37:42Speaker 1: he kind of earns those stripes back throughout the story. But, yeah,
- 37:46Speaker 1: he is clearly very flawed, very broken, not good at
- 37:50Speaker 1: his job whatsoever. So while he's, like I said, not
- 37:54Speaker 1: kind of a goofy kind of feel to him, he's
- 37:57Speaker 1: definitely a screw-up. So it's interesting that, like, you know,
- 38:01Speaker 1: Pratt takes that role. He's like, well, it's like you
- 38:04Speaker 1: made him a little more lovable.
- 38:05Speaker 2: But you're a doofus.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So you're still very bad at your job.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah, you're a goofball.
- 38:11Speaker 1: Yeah, so. But I'm curious when we see Guardians 3, because,
- 38:15Speaker 1: of course, I know there supposedly is a Christmas special
- 38:18Speaker 1: that's going to be on Disney Plus that involves the Guardians.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 1: That's coming out supposedly this year. That's right. And then
- 38:25Speaker 1: Guardians 3 coming out next year. So I don't know
- 38:27Speaker 1: if we're going to see any more of the Thor
- 38:29Speaker 1: stuff from that.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it seemed like from this angle it wrapped everything up.
- 38:34Speaker 2: But who knows?
- 38:36Speaker 1: I mean, it may involve a flashback. Because it's the thing, too.
- 38:39Speaker 1: It's kind of where they left things off. Like, okay,
- 38:40Speaker 1: we got all the Aisha and all her golden people.
- 38:43Speaker 1: And she's supposed to be bringing out a warlock. And
- 38:45Speaker 1: so there's that dangling participle. And Will Poulter's coming in
- 38:49Speaker 1: to fill that void. But it's like, okay, well, there's
- 38:52Speaker 1: still some other story stuff. And are we going to
- 38:54Speaker 1: address the Gamora situation?
- 38:56Speaker 2: That's what I noticed going in here. Yeah, because I
- 38:58Speaker 2: know we left it at that. But I thought by
- 39:01Speaker 2: the time we caught up with them again, they would
- 39:03Speaker 2: have won her back over. And this version of Gamora
- 39:06Speaker 2: would be closer to the one we saw before. But
- 39:09Speaker 2: she's just gone in this movie. Now, granted, by the
- 39:12Speaker 2: time we get to the next one.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's a story that they need to tell.
- 39:16Speaker 1: And they, I think, obviously will. Because I haven't heard
- 39:18Speaker 1: anything about Zoe Saldana not... being in guardians three.
- 39:22Speaker 2: And actually what I had heard was as it continues on,
- 39:25Speaker 2: however far they plan to go with guardians as a concept.
- 39:30Speaker 2: i thought star lord was getting taken out of it
- 39:32Speaker 2: more or less and it was going to focus more
- 39:34Speaker 2: i thought she was going to end up being captain
- 39:36Speaker 2: of the ship and like she was going to be
- 39:38Speaker 2: leading a team that was kind of a different group
- 39:40Speaker 2: of people more or less.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Yeah and that's very possible because i know like pratt's
- 39:44Speaker 1: done after this movie um Bradley Cooper's done after this movie.
- 39:49Speaker 1: Dave Bautista's done. Probably Vin Diesel is as well. So,
- 39:54Speaker 1: you know, leaving basically like Gamora and then getting like
- 39:57Speaker 1: a new ragtag band of misfits, that is completely 100%
- 40:00Speaker 1: on brand for the Guardians. May is this.
- 40:04Speaker 2: You've got to have May.
- 40:05Speaker 1: But the Guardians has had more of a rotating roster
- 40:08Speaker 1: than the Avengers have. Yeah, yeah. Because the Avengers, they'll
- 40:11Speaker 1: hang on to a roster for five, maybe even ten years,
- 40:14Speaker 1: where the Guardians are like, okay, we've got this team
- 40:16Speaker 1: for six months, and then we've got to go to
- 40:18Speaker 1: somebody else here. So sometimes you do see members coming back,
- 40:22Speaker 1: but there's other times like, somebody's out for whatever reason,
- 40:25Speaker 1: or somebody's dead, or somebody leaves the team, or whatever else.
- 40:28Speaker 2: It'll be interesting, because they work so well as that
- 40:30Speaker 2: initial group.
- 40:31Speaker 1: Sure.
- 40:31Speaker 2: And you've added in one, but other than that, it's
- 40:34Speaker 2: been pretty much the same through several movies now.
- 40:37Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I mean.
- 40:39Speaker 2: It'll be hard to get around that, but, again, if
- 40:42Speaker 2: you bring in the right people, it'll be fine.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Well, see, the interesting thing is, though they kind of, like,
- 40:45Speaker 1: interspersed them in, like, little cameos in the second film
- 40:49Speaker 1: when they introduced the Ravagers... Yeah. The original Guardians of
- 40:52Speaker 1: the Galaxy team that's from the 70s through the 90s
- 40:56Speaker 1: has hardly been represented. Yeah. We've seen like, okay, there
- 40:59Speaker 1: was a little cameo this person, a little cameo this person.
- 41:03Speaker 1: So the Ravagers basically, a majority of those people are
- 41:06Speaker 1: the original team, highly retconned, but that's most of the
- 41:11Speaker 1: original team. So it's like, are we ever going to
- 41:14Speaker 1: see anything from those people? No. You know, so... And,
- 41:18Speaker 1: of course, the thing that's interesting with them is, like,
- 41:20Speaker 1: at one point, they are in modern-day Earth, because that's
- 41:24Speaker 1: where one of the characters comes from. But then they
- 41:27Speaker 1: basically go through a couple of wormholes, and they get
- 41:30Speaker 1: transported a few thousand years into the future, and are in, basically, like,
- 41:35Speaker 1: the 3000s, essentially. And dealing with stuff, you know, that's
- 41:39Speaker 1: in future Earth and other parts of the universe.
- 41:41Speaker 5: So.
- 41:43Speaker 1: It's like, are we going to maybe see something later
- 41:45Speaker 1: on there? So there's lots of potential of keeping the
- 41:48Speaker 1: Guardians brand much like the Avengers brand without necessarily having
- 41:52Speaker 1: the original group. Yeah.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. We don't get much with them,
- 41:55Speaker 2: which I kind of felt that. They didn't put a
- 41:58Speaker 2: ton in there. The trailers were really weird going into
- 42:01Speaker 2: this because there was a whole lot of stuff that
- 42:03Speaker 2: wasn't represented. On purpose, I feel like. But that was
- 42:07Speaker 2: one of those, you didn't get much from the Guardians.
- 42:09Speaker 2: So I assumed it would be a, here they are
- 42:11Speaker 2: at the beginning, continuing where we left them. And then, okay,
- 42:14Speaker 2: we're done with you, Thor, bye. Which is pretty much
- 42:17Speaker 2: exactly what it is. Literally, they're like, okay, bye. He's
- 42:20Speaker 2: speechifying everything. And they're like, okay, later.
- 42:24Speaker 1: He's still talking, and they're gone. And they're gone. Yeah,
- 42:28Speaker 1: that whole element, basically Thor annoyed everybody by the time
- 42:31Speaker 1: everybody was ready for him to go. was great, and
- 42:35Speaker 1: being an old-school Norse mythology fan, that's part of my childhood,
- 42:42Speaker 1: I personally have been waiting for Toothnasher and Toothgrinder, the
- 42:47Speaker 1: goats of thunder themselves, to show up in the MCU,
- 42:51Speaker 1: and it took four movies for that to happen. But again,
- 42:53Speaker 1: I had to think to myself today, If they were
- 42:56Speaker 1: in the last one, they probably wouldn't have made it out.
- 42:58Speaker 2: That's true.
- 42:59Speaker 1: So for them to get rolled out in this wonderful fashion,
- 43:02Speaker 1: and I love that being a gift. Like, no, no,
- 43:04Speaker 1: you have to get.
- 43:05Speaker 2: No, you accept them.
- 43:06Speaker 1: You accept this.
- 43:06Speaker 2: You have to take them out.
- 43:08Speaker 1: It's like.
- 43:09Speaker 2: You have to take these screaming jackass goats.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Giant screaming goats.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:16Speaker 1: And that's, oh my God. I've seen the movie twice now.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I saw it Thursday and I saw it again tonight.
- 43:23Speaker 1: And I just. I can't stop laughing every time they're screaming.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Were they screaming goats initially? Was it specified? Because I
- 43:34Speaker 2: think here it's just because it's so damn funny.
- 43:36Speaker 1: It is so damn funny.
- 43:36Speaker 2: As soon as they did it, I was just like,
- 43:38Speaker 2: oh God, this is going to be a nightmare. And
- 43:40Speaker 2: then it just kept on.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I'm sure they were probably doing some screaming, especially when
- 43:44Speaker 1: they're in battle. Norse mythology has some weird shit throughout there.
- 43:51Speaker 1: Of course, it's so funny, like, people would go on
- 43:53Speaker 1: about the Loki series and him you know, feeling kind
- 43:56Speaker 1: of gender fluid, and Sylvie being gender fluid, and she being,
- 43:59Speaker 1: you know, it's like, oh, Loki, he's like, dude, go
- 44:04Speaker 1: back and read some fucking Norse mythology. Loki was gender
- 44:07Speaker 1: fluid before Christianity existed, dipshits.
- 44:10Speaker 2: All of these, again, Greek, Roman, like, they did whatever
- 44:15Speaker 2: the hell they wanted. So any of your old civilizations,
- 44:18Speaker 2: that wasn't really a problem a lot of the time.
- 44:20Speaker 1: It totally was not a problem. And the thing is, like, okay, yeah,
- 44:23Speaker 1: Zeus himself transformed himself into swans and various other creatures.
- 44:27Speaker 2: He was just a hoe.
- 44:28Speaker 1: And seduced things. But, like, Loki, like, took it to
- 44:32Speaker 1: another level. Yeah. Like, it was like, yes, he would
- 44:35Speaker 1: transform himself as something and go have sex with something else,
- 44:39Speaker 1: but then, like, he'd throw in some other just dastardly...
- 44:43Speaker 1: You know, I mean, this is the guy who literally
- 44:45Speaker 1: is responsible for the end of the world.
- 44:48Speaker 2: He's a trickster.
- 44:49Speaker 1: So, but, yeah, but, yeah, so.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Well, I like that little intro there because, again, we
- 44:54Speaker 2: left it with Thor being that broken version of Thor.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Especially physically, we knew we were going to have to
- 45:01Speaker 2: get him back to his old... So we get our
- 45:03Speaker 2: little workout montage. So we can be like, and now
- 45:06Speaker 2: he's back to being ripped. In fact, he's even more ripped.
- 45:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no kidding. This is his biggest.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Version of him.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 2: He is huge in this movie.
- 45:15Speaker 1: But man, he had to look good next to Jane, though.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Well, I think that was part of it, too, is
- 45:19Speaker 2: like being the butt of the joke of an entire
- 45:22Speaker 2: movie of how out of shape he was.
- 45:24Speaker 1: I think.
- 45:25Speaker 2: For the character, we needed that, and probably for Chris.
- 45:27Speaker 2: He was just like, look, dude, I didn't really look
- 45:29Speaker 2: like that. I've worked out for all of these movies, dammit.
- 45:33Speaker 2: I need to get recognition of how hot I am.
- 45:35Speaker 1: That's called a fat suit.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Now, do the shot of me with my shirt off
- 45:40Speaker 2: like every Marvel movie has. They did not disappoint on
- 45:44Speaker 2: this one.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a nice switch. Go from fat Thor to naked,
- 45:48Speaker 1: cut up, I mean.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Ripped like you wouldn't believe.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Holy shit. Yeah, but I'm really glad with the Jane
- 45:58Speaker 1: Foster storyline throughout here because that's a really cool storyline
- 46:03Speaker 1: in the book with basically her essentially having stage four
- 46:07Speaker 1: cancer that kind of came out of nowhere. The same
- 46:09Speaker 1: way in the book, too. It's almost like, boom, you
- 46:11Speaker 1: got cancer. And they're kind of getting like, okay, well, basically,
- 46:17Speaker 1: maybe if I get this hammer, the Asgardian magic will
- 46:21Speaker 1: kind of give me a little last bit of, you know, life.
- 46:24Speaker 1: And it does, but much like in the movie, every
- 46:27Speaker 1: time she transforms, it takes a bit of her life
- 46:29Speaker 1: force and it's killing her even faster.
- 46:31Speaker 2: So again, jumping to the end, but only to ask,
- 46:35Speaker 2: answer my question. Cause that's what I left the movie going.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Was that, I mean, is that how it ended within
- 46:41Speaker 2: the comics? No, because that's what I didn't. That's my,
- 46:45Speaker 2: one of my issues with it was like, I don't
- 46:47Speaker 2: understand the point of going through all this trouble to
- 46:49Speaker 2: bring Jane in as the new Thor and to then
- 46:52Speaker 2: completely wipe it out in the span of a movie.
- 46:55Speaker 2: I was like, I thought that was why, like with
- 46:57Speaker 2: all of these characters, we're kind of handing the mantle.
- 46:59Speaker 2: We're like, okay, you're the new Thor now. And especially
- 47:02Speaker 2: to have a female Thor was a cool thing. So
- 47:05Speaker 2: I'm like, and I like Natalie Portman. I would want
- 47:08Speaker 2: to get her back, but it's weird to get her
- 47:09Speaker 2: back for a one-off. And then she's like, all right,
- 47:12Speaker 2: I'm done. I'm out now.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Well, of course, you know, she was noticeably absent from
- 47:17Speaker 1: all of the Infinity War and Endgame stuff. I mean, like,
- 47:20Speaker 1: all the time.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Even Ultron. They mention her, but she's not there.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:25Speaker 2: So, like, she was already done by Dark World.
- 47:28Speaker 1: Right.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:29Speaker 1: So, you know, Marvel kind of, you know. you know,
- 47:32Speaker 1: ruin the party for her there, but somehow we're able
- 47:34Speaker 1: to court her back. And the way they left it
- 47:38Speaker 1: is because, yeah, it's very different than how they did
- 47:39Speaker 1: in the comics, but there's a lot of stuff different
- 47:42Speaker 1: from this particular storyline and the other elements they added
- 47:45Speaker 1: into it. They had to change a lot of stuff
- 47:48Speaker 1: and skip a lot of like, okay, well, you didn't
- 47:50Speaker 1: need to know all this. You didn't need to know
- 47:51Speaker 1: all this. You didn't know this. This doesn't pertain to
- 47:52Speaker 1: the situation.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Which I'm fine with them changing stuff if it makes
- 47:55Speaker 2: for a better story. I just don't understand like capping
- 47:58Speaker 2: it off immediately. It was like, why bother bringing her
- 48:01Speaker 2: back if we're not going to have her for a while?
- 48:03Speaker 1: Well, I think they knew, it was like, okay, we
- 48:05Speaker 1: got her back at least for this one, but the
- 48:07Speaker 1: door is left open. Because currently in the books, there
- 48:11Speaker 1: was a big Asgardian conflict between all the realms, and
- 48:15Speaker 1: in this conflict, all of the Valkyrie were killed.
- 48:20Speaker 7: And.
- 48:20Speaker 2: Has also happened.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Minus one. Minus one. Well, see, even that Valkyrie was
- 48:25Speaker 1: also killed. Brunhilde was also killed, too. So at the
- 48:29Speaker 1: end of it, Jane becomes the last Valkyrie. And so
- 48:34Speaker 1: she's given this weapon called the All Weapon, which basically
- 48:36Speaker 1: can kind of turn into whatever. Basically, it could be
- 48:40Speaker 1: a sword. It could be an axe. It could be
- 48:43Speaker 1: whatever she feels like it needs to be.
- 48:44Speaker 2: That would be handy to have.
- 48:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a really cool kind of weapon. But she's
- 48:47Speaker 1: basically currently the last Valkyrie.
- 48:48Speaker 7: Hmm.
- 48:49Speaker 1: But the interesting thing is that also they're kind of
- 48:52Speaker 1: planting the seed in the Avengers books. Of course, she's
- 48:55Speaker 1: a member of the Avengers as Valkyrie, side by side
- 48:58Speaker 1: with Thor. And there's been a couple of times where
- 49:02Speaker 1: Jane's had a moment alone with Mjolnir. And you can
- 49:05Speaker 1: kind of tell maybe they're planting the seed that she
- 49:08Speaker 1: wants the hammer back. Like she enjoyed her time being Thor.
- 49:12Speaker 1: She's cancer-free currently. She's in remission. The Asgardians were actually
- 49:16Speaker 1: able to cure her in the comics. So she's in remission. So,
- 49:20Speaker 1: she's not worrying about dying anymore. But she kind of
- 49:22Speaker 1: misses that power back. And it's almost to the point, like,
- 49:26Speaker 1: they're planting that seed. Like, could she have the ability
- 49:29Speaker 1: to also be another Thor? Or could this be a
- 49:32Speaker 1: possible conflict in the future?
- 49:33Speaker 2: Right. That was my other takeaway. I was like, we've
- 49:36Speaker 2: got all the magic of Asgard and you can fly
- 49:39Speaker 2: and do all these other crazy things, but we can't
- 49:41Speaker 2: beat cancer. I was like, that's our own problem here.
- 49:45Speaker 2: And we don't have any of that crap. So I
- 49:47Speaker 2: was just like, can't the magical powers of Marvel at
- 49:50Speaker 2: least cure cancer? Well, obviously not in this movie.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I think too. I think since we had, you know,
- 49:56Speaker 1: the scene of basically like Gore, you know, wanting to
- 50:00Speaker 1: bring his daughter back from the dead and, And then
- 50:03Speaker 1: Thor wanting to save Jane, and basically they make the
- 50:05Speaker 1: decision and help Gor make his proper decision. Like, okay,
- 50:10Speaker 1: let's bring the daughter back, and let's accept Jane's sacrifice,
- 50:14Speaker 1: and there you go. So they had a lot of,
- 50:17Speaker 1: I think it would take away the emotion of the
- 50:20Speaker 1: scene of Gor dying, but he brought his daughter back,
- 50:23Speaker 1: and then Thor gets Jane back. I think you had
- 50:25Speaker 1: to have.
- 50:26Speaker 2: Some of that. It's still a weird choice.
- 50:29Speaker 5: It is.
- 50:29Speaker 1: Like I said, I think Marvel had every intention, like, okay,
- 50:33Speaker 1: we want to be able to bring her back if
- 50:35Speaker 1: we want to, which is basically she's in Valhalla. And
- 50:39Speaker 1: the good thing about Valhalla is like, well, if you're
- 50:42Speaker 1: a female and you're dead... and you're a warrior, what
- 50:47Speaker 1: does that qualify you to be? A fucking Valkyrie. So
- 50:51Speaker 1: whether or not she comes back as the last Valkyrie,
- 50:53Speaker 1: because Brute Hilda is killed or something like that, or
- 50:56Speaker 1: she can come back as a second Valkyrie remains to
- 51:00Speaker 1: be seen. But that door is left open for her
- 51:04Speaker 1: to return.
- 51:04Speaker 2: I don't know. That was a weird move.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Yes, but there's so much shit they had to cut out.
- 51:11Speaker 1: And that's the thing.
- 51:13Speaker 2: This almost is two different movies at war with itself.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Because I feel like we got so little of Gore, really.
- 51:23Speaker 2: He's creepy, but it's like we don't really get all
- 51:27Speaker 2: of the god killing of this god killer anymore. is
- 51:31Speaker 2: done off screen, essentially. Yeah, we just see bits and
- 51:34Speaker 2: pieces of it on screens, we go and see it
- 51:37Speaker 2: after the fact, but, like, we really get none of, like,
- 51:41Speaker 2: for building up what should have been a really big villain, like,
- 51:45Speaker 2: He's just sort of like a bad guy of the week, really.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Natalie Portman herself has said that there's a lot on
- 51:52Speaker 1: the cutting room floor. So it's strange, too. Like, this
- 51:55Speaker 1: is clocking in at probably the shortest level.
- 51:57Speaker 2: It's a little over two hours, yeah. It's barely two hours, yeah.
- 52:02Speaker 2: I saw it on there earlier because I didn't remember
- 52:04Speaker 2: it being... a huge movie like so many of them are.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, of course I know, like, okay, this
- 52:08Speaker 1: is not an endgame level kind of movie, but it's like,
- 52:11Speaker 1: Gore's a really good villain.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah, for that storyline and that villain, you would think
- 52:17Speaker 2: they would plan as, like, take their time to introduce him,
- 52:21Speaker 2: maybe make it a two-movie arc or something, like, at
- 52:23Speaker 2: least make it a bigger thing, but he has little
- 52:27Speaker 2: screen time, I feel like.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Well, I mean, the thing is, too, you've got to
- 52:29Speaker 1: take into consideration that the storyline that Jason Aaron did
- 52:34Speaker 1: that introduced Gore, Gore did not survive that storyline. So
- 52:38Speaker 1: he's dead. So he basically survived like eight to ten issues,
- 52:45Speaker 1: and he's gone. But his impact, though, was pretty big,
- 52:50Speaker 1: because at the time the character was introduced, Thor did
- 52:53Speaker 1: not wield Mjolnir. And the reason why he did not
- 52:56Speaker 1: wield it, because there was an event that happens... And
- 52:59Speaker 1: Thor had a secret whispered to him that basically made
- 53:02Speaker 1: Thor feel unworthy. And that secret was basically that people
- 53:07Speaker 1: don't need gods. Gods need people. And that fact blew
- 53:13Speaker 1: his mind. And it's like, oh shit. And so basically
- 53:17Speaker 1: he drops Mjolnir and suddenly he can't pick it up anymore.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Because he's not worth it.
- 53:22Speaker 1: And so he basically leaves it on the moon where this...
- 53:25Speaker 1: I mean, like our moon. He leaves it where it lays.
- 53:30Speaker 1: And then basically very similar to the books, Jane essentially is,
- 53:36Speaker 1: I guess, seduced by Mjolnir to basically come pick her up.
- 53:39Speaker 1: So it's like, wait a minute, how's this normal Earth
- 53:42Speaker 1: woman who at the time was dying of cancer suddenly
- 53:45Speaker 1: able to be transported to the moon and pick up
- 53:47Speaker 1: this hammer? But it happened because it's comic books. But yeah,
- 53:51Speaker 1: so it was interesting because Jane... and Mjolnir had a
- 53:55Speaker 1: very different relationship than Thor did. Cause Thor basically like,
- 53:57Speaker 1: I throw the hammer straight and it goes straight.
- 54:00Speaker 2: And this was given to me. And this is what
- 54:02Speaker 2: I do.
- 54:02Speaker 1: But like, Jane has like a little bit like relationship. Well,
- 54:05Speaker 1: I was like, she had like the hammer genuinely likes her.
- 54:09Speaker 1: It seemed like, whereas like it kind of, you know,
- 54:11Speaker 1: maybe like over the years, it kind of got tired
- 54:13Speaker 1: of Thor shit sometimes or else, but it genuinely liked Jane.
- 54:16Speaker 1: It performed differently for Jane. Like it was like, it
- 54:20Speaker 1: was like creative basically. Um, It seemed like he was
- 54:23Speaker 1: almost having fun fighting. And Thor immediately noticed this, like,
- 54:28Speaker 1: I didn't know it could do that. You see this
- 54:30Speaker 1: scene where, of course, since the hammer was fragmented and
- 54:35Speaker 1: splits apart.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Now it has shotgun mode, essentially.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Yeah. That's straight out of the books. But the hammer
- 54:41Speaker 1: wasn't shattered. The hammer basically... splits itself into, like, multiple, like,
- 54:47Speaker 1: it literally turns, it, like, becomes multiple hammer, you know?
- 54:50Speaker 1: It's like, there's one hammer, now there's hundreds of hammers,
- 54:53Speaker 1: and it takes out a hundred dudes at once, and
- 54:55Speaker 1: Thor's like, I, what? Or, like, when, you know, he
- 54:59Speaker 1: throws it, he'd, like, throw it in a straight line, or, like,
- 55:01Speaker 1: he would, like, his way to fly was, he'd swing
- 55:04Speaker 1: the hammer and throw it, and he's essentially holding on
- 55:06Speaker 1: for dear life.
- 55:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Do this hammer. And that's how he's flying. He's not
- 55:11Speaker 1: like Superman where he's flying. He's literally throwing something so
- 55:14Speaker 1: hard and holding onto it that it's propelling him through
- 55:17Speaker 1: the air. Whereas, like, Jane, like, she'd throw the hammer
- 55:22Speaker 1: and it'd go, whee! And it's all making little big
- 55:25Speaker 1: curly cues. And so, like, literally, like, Mjolnir was having
- 55:28Speaker 1: fun being wielded by Jane.
- 55:30Speaker 2: See, again, I like that. I liked her getting the call.
- 55:33Speaker 2: I liked her going to. That's kind of why I
- 55:35Speaker 2: wish we had more with it. Because I liked Jane more.
- 55:38Speaker 2: In this role, essentially. So I would have liked to
- 55:40Speaker 2: have seen if we... I mean, I guess they've had
- 55:43Speaker 2: to decide what the hell they're doing with Thor. Because
- 55:45Speaker 2: I like the idea going into that trailer. It makes
- 55:48Speaker 2: it look like he's done. Like he's had so much
- 55:52Speaker 2: of this for however many thousand years he's been around now.
- 55:55Speaker 2: And then also going through everything he did with the...
- 56:00Speaker 2: Endgame and.
- 56:01Speaker 1: All of that. Endgame and Ragnarok.
- 56:03Speaker 2: All of that, yeah. I thought it was actually interesting
- 56:06Speaker 2: of him just being like, you know what? I've done that.
- 56:09Speaker 2: I want to do something else. So then handing it
- 56:11Speaker 2: to her was really interesting. So I kind of wanted
- 56:14Speaker 2: them to continue with that. And then we sort of
- 56:16Speaker 2: reset everything by the end of the movie almost. Slightly different,
- 56:21Speaker 2: but enough that I was like, oh, well now we're
- 56:23Speaker 2: not really doing much different. It's just slightly different, but
- 56:28Speaker 2: I don't know. We took the main changes out of
- 56:30Speaker 2: the mix.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Well, there was some speculation, too, that maybe Thor might die.
- 56:35Speaker 1: By the end, it's like gore might kill him.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Well, that's kind of, yeah, because it seemed like he
- 56:39Speaker 2: was done with it. Also, I thought maybe with all
- 56:42Speaker 2: the actors, they seemed to be kind of moving on
- 56:44Speaker 2: to different projects.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Not him.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Maybe he was done with this, and this was his
- 56:48Speaker 2: way out. It's like, okay, I'm going to do one
- 56:49Speaker 2: more movie with you as the crossover. This is my generation's.
- 56:53Speaker 2: I'll be there for a little bit, but then we'll
- 56:55Speaker 2: hand it to you and you can take off with it.
- 56:57Speaker 1: But yeah, it takes a much different turn at the
- 56:59Speaker 1: end where basically Thor becomes a surrogate father to a
- 57:03Speaker 1: child of eternity.
- 57:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I was going to say. Where does
- 57:08Speaker 2: the kid get all her powers? Just from eternity itself?
- 57:12Speaker 1: Basically, she is the... Okay, I've talked about him before.
- 57:16Speaker 1: We've talked about superhero stuff, but I'm really finally excited
- 57:19Speaker 1: that we... We just got a little taste. Of eternity.
- 57:24Speaker 1: But I love the whole interpretation. Like, basically, when they're
- 57:28Speaker 1: going through the portal in there, it's like, okay, we
- 57:30Speaker 1: are in the white space. And the white space gets
- 57:31Speaker 1: translated to, oh, there's this nice tepid water and the clouds.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Is that the same space you go when you, the
- 57:38Speaker 2: Infinity Gauntlet?
- 57:40Speaker 1: No, that's a different. Because it's similar. Yeah, well, that's
- 57:43Speaker 1: the thing.
- 57:43Speaker 2: It's all in your head, essentially.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Well, basically, it's a different plane of existence. And it's
- 57:48Speaker 1: basically supposed to be like a plane of peace. You know,
- 57:50Speaker 1: it's supposed to just be completely tranquil. that is more
- 57:54Speaker 1: along the lines of like, okay, your human mind cannot
- 57:58Speaker 1: comprehend exactly where you are or your Asgardian mind or
- 58:01Speaker 1: whatever else. Your minds are far too small to comprehend
- 58:07Speaker 1: where you are, what you're doing, and who you are
- 58:10Speaker 1: in the presence of. So we dumb it down for you,
- 58:14Speaker 1: give you fluffy clouds and a nice water.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Which is pretty much what people need.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Right. But what you're looking at is the entirety... of
- 58:22Speaker 1: the universe in a humanoid somewhat form. And again, it
- 58:29Speaker 1: itself is dumbing it down for you, making itself look
- 58:32Speaker 1: that way. But you are basically addressing the entirety of
- 58:37Speaker 1: the universe standing outside of it. Some really heady shit here.
- 58:43Speaker 1: It's like you're basically talking to God standing outside of
- 58:47Speaker 1: the known everything and asking him for a favor.
- 58:51Speaker 2: Before, again, I'm jumping in a couple of places, but
- 58:56Speaker 2: going to the same place, because Gore didn't have powers initially, right?
- 59:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 59:00Speaker 2: He was just a guy with a kid, and it
- 59:02Speaker 2: all came from that process. So then why now does
- 59:05Speaker 2: the kid.
- 59:07Speaker 1: No, they say all of his abilities come 100% from
- 59:09Speaker 1: the Necrosword.
- 59:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:11Speaker 1: And again, they had a heavily retconned Necrosword as well.
- 59:14Speaker 1: Because while in the storyline that basically the sword does
- 59:18Speaker 1: exactly what it is, in truth, the sword itself is
- 59:22Speaker 1: a symbiote just like Venom.
- 59:24Speaker 2: That's what... Yeah, I'd heard that the powers he had
- 59:27Speaker 2: were very similar to Venom and.
- 59:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's... See, and then they... didn't call it a symbiote,
- 59:33Speaker 1: and they called those things shadow creatures, and they didn't
- 59:35Speaker 1: act like or look like symbiotes. They were just black.
- 59:38Speaker 1: They were cool. Yeah, they were cool, but they didn't
- 59:39Speaker 1: look and act like symbiotes, so that completely part has
- 59:42Speaker 1: been retconned out.
- 59:43Speaker 2: It's probably good, because we've got enough of that, and
- 59:46Speaker 2: it's in its own separate little area over there, so
- 59:49Speaker 2: it's good to separate them.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Well, the interesting thing is that though Gore is dead,
- 59:54Speaker 1: the Necrosaur does make a return in the King in
- 59:57Speaker 1: Black storyline, where we basically meet Null... who is the
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: king and ruler and creator of all the symbiotes from
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: the planet where these things all come from. And he
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: comes to Earth with the notion to conquer everything, and
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: the only thing standing against him is Venom, who essentially
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: is not a hero and has kind of just recently
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: learned of his total place in the universe and the
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: history of the thing he's been wearing for 20, 30 years.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: But Null, when he shows up to Earth, is literally
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: wielding the Necrosword because it is a symbiote. So it's
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: in his.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: This is a lot more to get into.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: It's in his service. Exactly. It's a lot of shit
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: to get into.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: It's a lot more to get into.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: But yeah, so all of Gore's abilities 100% come from
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: the sword.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: So that's what I was like. So the fact that
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: the kid is now superpowered is kind of weird. Is
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: that just from... Like, why give the kid superpowers if
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: you're the eternal being there?
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing, is that basically... That's a difficult
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: question to answer because they haven't quite... given us more
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: information on that. Because one of two things could be possible.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: That Eternity, you know, granted this child be alive and
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: it has some godlike abilities and there's your child. Or
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: the even headier and much more frightening is that that
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: child is Eternity in the form of Gore's daughter getting
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: a bit of a second life, seeing how the other
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: half lives. But we now have... I don't know what
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: the word is that's beyond an Omega level, but we
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: have this level ability of a god, even beyond a god.
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: This is.
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: I don't know what's beyond a god, but we have
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: that hanging out with the old God of Thunder, smacking
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: away at little aliens and doing stuff like that, hanging
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: out with their old dad and acting like a little girl,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: painting cutesy faces on... Mjolnir and giving it tassels and
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: kind of that kind of stuff but yeah it's like
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: this is this is a a world building.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: There's definitely a lot that could come from that yeah
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: or not if they don't want to go that way
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: but they it's it would be hard.
- 1:02:17Speaker 8: To not do something with that this this this child
- 1:02:21Speaker 8: could play a humongous role later on uh and the
- 1:02:26Speaker 8: interesting thing is too is that There's a character that
- 1:02:29Speaker 8: was kind of created in the 80s called Starbrand.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: That's been recently reincorporated back in the Avengers. Basically, it's
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: kind of like an alien power that kind of inhabits
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: whatever its host is, and they have godlike abilities and
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: whatever else. But when it inhabits a character from Earth,
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: it was an infant. And in the matter of several months,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: that infant grows into a 20-something... you know, child now.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: So she's, she's now since, you know, in her early
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: twenties now, but still is trying to learn how humans work,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: how things are going.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: Cause you skipped that part.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Right. And you're also an Omega level powered being. So
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: you have great abilities to do whatever the hell you
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: want to. And you're still trying to work out how
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: your emotions go.
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Well, I thought maybe the way they leave it is
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: sort of a, open door to be able to do
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: that same thing anyway like okay Jane's gone but we
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: want to hand it over to a girl type person
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: we're giving her Stormbreaker so is she as quickly as
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: they want to make her grow up she just becomes
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: the new Thor since she's being raised by Thor in
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: How to Be a Thor, here, take my giant axe
- 1:03:47Speaker 2: and go take care of business.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think it's interesting, too, that he's back
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: to wielding Mjolnir and gives the child the.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Because he specifically wanted the big one as we got
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: into the battle there at the end. So now he's
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: traded off. I think just the weird jealousy thing of... Yeah,
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: but it's... The hammer jealousy act. Even funnier than Stormbreaker
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: was jealousy. that little relationship throughout.
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: The movie was pretty fun that was great he's like
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: what we were just talking and see it's fun too
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: they've kind of done some new things because of course
- 1:04:19Speaker 7: like you know the child I guess love is what
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: we're calling her She's kind of a new element.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Because in the book, Gorr had a wife and a
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: son that died the same way the daughter does. And
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: at the end, he's able to bring his son back.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: But Gorr doesn't... That's it.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: We don't see the kid again.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it. So this girl is a new element
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: to things. But the Stormbreaker itself is a new element.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Because at the time when Thor is not wielding Mjolnir,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: he goes back to his childhood... weapon he had, which
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: was an axe named Jornborn. Which being a big, you know,
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: it's like J-A-R-L-N, Unlaut, Unlaut, you know, Jornborn or something
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like that. But yeah, but basically it's just like a
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: big ass, you know, one-sided axe. And so he's, but
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: it looks like it's, like it was stuck into like
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: a big tree branch or something like that. So, you know,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Stormbreaker does kind of resemble Jornborn.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: But it's still kind of like, it was, yeah, I
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: wish they would have If we can save Mjolnir and
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: get people around that one, we can get around a Yharnbrunn.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: I don't know. They make a lot of crazy words
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: over there. Well, you know, they're Vikings.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: They can do that sort of thing. But yeah, this was,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: you know, it was a fun movie. It's, you know,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: there is some, you know, some darker stuff, some emotional stuff,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: whatever else that happens. But we don't necessarily get like,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: this isn't like a big world. And we always like
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness had some big shit going
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: on there. Spider-Man No Way Home had some big shit
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: going on there. So we needed to like, let's have
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: a movie that doesn't have a lot of big shit
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: going on.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: This felt, yeah, this felt a little, even again, because
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: I just rewatched Ragnarok. And Ragnarok is so light in
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: tone and yet has such huge and like grim things
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: happen along the way. That's why I was always amazed
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: how well it works on both sides there. Where this,
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: I don't know, like it just feels different because it
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: doesn't feel like it has any of the bigger stuff
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: in it. The thing that should be grim and big
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: is our villain and we don't get much of him
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: at all. Yeah. And then it's working in the other
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: relationship stuff and him, you know, figuring out stuff and
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Jane dealing with stuff. So like all that's there. And
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: this is weird now that I guess this is what
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: we have to ask every day. I guess since we've
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: started this, a lot of times I've brought this up
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: of the Would this have worked better as a series?
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I don't think so. I don't know. I wouldn't have,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you know, I would have liked a little bit more
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: in this movie. It's strange that we're coming out of
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: a superhero movie and going, you know, I could have
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: used a little bit more, you know, in here. So
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: that's nice in itself. But there's so many other seeds
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: that could be further planted because like I'm curious, of course, like.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: You know, we introduced Zeus and a bit of the
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Greek pantheon. We saw a lot of the other gods there, too.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: But, yeah, Zeus always plays a very important role because
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: you can't have Zeus without having Hercules. And so we
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: get our first cut scene where we introduced Hercules very briefly.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: But he's there. And so we're... I'm curious what they're
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: going to do with that story because there's not a
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: specific story where Zeus is like... I'm mad. I want
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: followers again. Yeah, he's a dick because 90% of all
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: these gods are completely worthless. There are some good ones, yes.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: But for the most part, these are worthless beings that
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: people have chosen to worship and they really don't have
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: a place to. But at the same time, though, when
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Hercules was introduced in the Thor books, they were adversarial.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Because basically Hercules initially was like, you know, kind of
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: sometimes what heroes do, there's a misunderstanding. And so these
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: two are basically the two biggest bulls in the China shop.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: They are, you know, Thor has the sparkly stuff. So
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: that's the only thing Hercules doesn't have. But on strength
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: and might and combat levels, they are equals. So this
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: is going to be a good fight. But, you know.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: The biggest difference was when Hercules would come to town
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: ready to fight Thor, Hercules didn't give two shits about
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: property damage, about innocent lives. He was all about the
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: glory and honor of combat and the frivolity and whatever
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: else of the party afterwards.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Which is basically what... Thor was. Right. In his old
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: version of Thor.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Right, yeah. Thor evolved emotionally and maturity far faster than
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: Hercules did.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Matter of fact, it took Hercules quite a long time
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: to get past this stage. where he's finally become a
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: little more self-actualized, but he's, you know, but yeah, there's,
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: you know, basically Hercules is like, he's very slow to evolve.
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: That was.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: Mostly just from watching these two most recent things, though.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: I was like, I almost could have switched them. Because
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: I feel like I'm really enjoying the big action, what
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: little we get with Ms.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Marvel.
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: I feel like you could do a really good big
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: screen version of that. So we could have had a
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: big screen origin story for her. And then you could
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: almost take this Thor, like, figuring out what he wants
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: to do next, dealing with Jane. Like, that could almost
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: be a six episode arc. And, like, we figure it
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: out and then move on to the next thing. So I...
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: I was thinking that after I was done, I was
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: walking around going, you know, you kind of could have
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: switched those and I'd be okay with it.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: Yeah. But definitely the two biggest points I left with
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: at the end of this movie is like, okay, what
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: are we going to do with Zeus and Hercules next?
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: What's the further endgame? I know we're going to see
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: a fight between Hercules and Thor. But what's going to
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: be the end game for that? And then the second
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: thing is like, what are we doing with this child
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: with love?
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: Definitely with love. Yeah. That's a huge open ended. But
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: the fact that they came back with the singer that's got,
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: you know, Zeus again, which again, I was trying to
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: decide if he was dead initially. And I was like,
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: is it okay for him to kill Zeus? I don't
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: think he's our hero. I don't think you're supposed to
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: be killing him. So thankfully, I guess they worked that
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: back in.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: Points to Russell Crowe for taking on this role that
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: makes him look pretty ridiculous. And especially like I'm thinking
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: of him in the outfit, you know, last time when
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: he's Gladiator. Yeah. In his like most badass fit dude
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: that he is. And now he's just kind of a
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: hefty old man. He's prancing around in his little skirt.
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: Even the armor's got a gut.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I was like, old Russell Crowe. I don't know if
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: he would have been comfortable with this. So I think
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: he's grown quite a bit as a guy, as an actor.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: And now he's just like, all right, let's have fun.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: Yeah, his performance in this is great. And the whole thing, too,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: when he's like, when he descends the stairs like he's
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: wearing like a traditional like you know skirt kind of
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: little thing they would wear but when like he picks
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: it when he picks it up to go down the
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: stairs like dude there was nowhere near your feet what
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: are you doing yeah that was that was some fun
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: little choices and stuff like that but yeah just to
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: make you know, totally laughing at himself, you know, at
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: his gladiator role and going to Zeus like, okay, yeah.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: If we're going to do this, let's have fun.
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: I see what you're doing here, buddy. And then I
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: haven't watched Ted Lasso, but the dude from Ted Lasso
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: is Hercules and people were excited about that. So I
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: was like, okay, cool. But I mean, he looks like
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Hercules because Hercules is a big, beefy, you know, hairy-chested
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: dude carrying lots of weapons and very little armor. And
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: he's Hercules.
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: You don't need it, I guess.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: Yeah, he doesn't need it. So, I'm excited to see
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: where that's going. But, yeah, it's like I'm very interested
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: to see how, like I said, this child of eternity
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: is supposed to work out because, you know, Marvel hasn't
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: quite revealed the plan yet of where this is all going. No.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: We're getting close to ending this particular phase where we're
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: introducing some new people, getting in some new generations, some
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: new talent. into the pool here, but we haven't really
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: thrown out. What's the big threat yet? Unless you've been
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: watching Loki.
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: And we're a lot of movies and TV shows in
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: now that I hadn't thought about it, but then like
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: something I was like, they started listing off all the
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: ones since in game. And I was like, Oh yeah,
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: I forgot about, Oh yeah. And that one. Oh, I
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: was like, we're really far into this new wave and
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: we haven't really pinned down. We don't have a big bad, really.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: There's hints. We, we, Some of the people have figured
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: out where they're going, but not everybody. I'm like, we're
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: still kind of getting going to be this far in.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Well, see, you got to think about it, too, though.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: It's like, you know, when they started the MCU with
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Iron Man, you know, we didn't know that it was
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: heading towards Infinity Gauntlet. No. Later on, we finally did, right?
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: But we have Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Hulk, 4-1,
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Captain America... Before, so five movies before we get to Avengers,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: which has a tease of Thanos. Yeah. So we're just
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: introduced to our big bad when we get to our
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: sixth film. We don't get to what he's actually doing
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: until we get to the Guardians.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: But we also had no idea that was a thing
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: you could do.
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: That was, I mean... there's been a few crossovers in
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: movies over the years, but not real often. And not
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: to that extent with that kind of cast and that
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: kind of budget that like, you couldn't have imagined in
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: that first Iron Man movie jumped to end game when
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: like the ridiculous amount of actors that are all on
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: screen and getting paid, whatever it took to bring all
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: those people in one movie that, yeah. So, I mean,
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: that was a whole new concept. Those first four movies
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: there of like, wait, what, what are we doing? All right,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: we can make this work. Hold on. Like, so, Now
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: that we have it down and we know where, you'd think, again,
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: and it hasn't really changed hands. I mean, Feige's still
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: running things. Sure. So you would think he would be like,
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: all right, let's pin this down. We know where we're going.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: But I don't know. There's a lot of balls in
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: the air on this one.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing is that the MCU is so
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: in tune with the books that comic fans know, like,
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: the big events, sometimes there's six issues. Sometimes there are
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: eight issues. Sometimes there are 12 issues. Sometimes it's one. So,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: you know, they're not all the same. They don't handle
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: the same. Yes, it's always the heroes fighting some big
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: bad thing that could possibly kill all of the world
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: and all of existence or whatever else. But we have
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: to paint that same picture a different way every time
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: we do it. So... Yeah, I mean, you know, there
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: was a lead up to Endgame and a plan and
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: a plot and everything like that. There's a lead up
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: to whatever we're heading to.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: Yeah, we just don't know what it is yet.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: We don't know what that is just yet, but we will.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's like, you know, by the end of
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: this year, we're going to have, you know, Black Panther 2,
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Wakanda Forever. You're going to have a couple more series
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: under the belt here. And then going into next year,
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: you're going to have another Ant-Man movie, which we're going
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: into the Quantum Realm. And then we've got Guardians 3,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: and you've also got Captain Marvel 2. So there's a
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: lot of space stuff, a lot of dimensional stuff in
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: those three movies. Wakanda Forever, you're going to be introducing
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Atlantis in there. So there's a lot of big, we're
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: world building in this new phase.
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: And I just saw they denounced the director for the
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: new Captain America movie.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: So I don't know.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: That's probably two years out.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: Oh, for Captain America 4?
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, for the next wave of Captain America.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Who'd they pick?
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Let me look and see. I didn't recognize it.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Sometimes Marvel likes to bring in, occasionally bring
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: in somebody.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of times they like to pick an up-and-coming, hey,
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: you're a new kid directing things. We can tell you
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: to do whatever the hell you want.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: You'll be glad to do it. Yeah, well, sometimes you get,
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: you know, a guy that's a journeyman, you know, you know,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: kind of filmmaker that's not going to make, you know,
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: a big wave, but will make a solid film and
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: do what Marvel wants. Or you get like a Sam Raimi,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: you know, or Russo Brothers or whatnot that's going to
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: have their own specific kind of, or James Gunn is
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: going to have their own specific kind of style of things. So, yeah.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Julius O.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: O-N-A-H.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: That doesn't sound familiar. He did... I remember I.
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Read it earlier.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: Let's see.
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: He did The Cloverfield Paradox and Luce, L-U-C-E, which I
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: have not seen.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: I have not seen that. I've seen Cloverfield Paradox. It
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: was a Netflix one.
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: I've heard not good things about that one as well.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: I mean, it's not a bad film, but it's unnecessary.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: It's still an interesting jump to go from that to
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: Captain America 4.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: But again, they have a plan with who they want
- 1:17:08Speaker 2: to bring in a lot of times.
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: Well, with him being an African-American and you're going to
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: basically have an African-American Captain America.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: I would assume they want that. But still, I feel
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: like there's some other names they could have gone with.
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: Oh, shit, yeah.
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: But, you know.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Well, it all kind of depends on what kind of
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: movie they're wanting to make, too. It's like, you know,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: do we want to make something kind of a big
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: event thing? Do we want to make some kind of
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: stance on something? Or are we just trying to tell
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: another Captain America story?
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: Are we just continuing where we left off on the series?
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: Right. So, yeah.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: It could go a lot of ways.
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a lot of ways. But, yeah, so right
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: now we're still doing a lot of world building in
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: this particular new phase, introducing a lot of new characters. But, yeah,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: it's like some definite seeds have been planted, especially with,
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: you know, we're going to be getting into introducing Kang.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: In the next Ant-Man movie, we're going to see a
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: lot more of him in Loki Season 2. So that
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: definitely hints at, you know, a lot of multiverse, a
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: lot of timey stuff. And then now with this... Definitely with.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: The Doctor Strange wrap-up there. Like, we definitely know we're
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: going that way.
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: But now having this girl who basically is Eternity in
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: a human form. So it's like, okay. It's like, this
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: could go pear-shaped real quick. Because now you've got this child...
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: With this boundless ability who has yet to tap into that.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: And what happens when somebody who knows this starts toying
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: with that? And maybe wants to manipulate reality itself and
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: then maybe screws things up.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: They left it? Yeah. Because we don't know anything, it
- 1:18:39Speaker 2: could go either way. It could just be she's got
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: a minimal amount of powers and she just takes over
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: for Thor.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: She's the new Thor. Or she is the eternal powers
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: of the universe. and she's the next thing that's going to,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: good or bad, she could save us from whatever the
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: next thing is.
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: Or she could be the next thing. Yeah, she could be.
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: She could be the evil that's coming.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: She could be the bullet. Yeah, so that's the thing.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: They've left that door wide open. Uh, but it's interesting though,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: that basically that Hemsworth got to cast his little girl
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: in that role. It's like, well, they had great chemistry
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: in the scene they were together.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: So, I mean, if she's going to be your daughter, yeah,
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: I mean, you can play dad to her pretty good.
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: I would assume.
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: I mean, at least you can probably rely on her
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: to show up a little bit. Cause like, well, I'm
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: giving you a ride to the set.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: You don't know where she is. You don't have to
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: find some other up and coming actress that'll change her mind.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: And like, I don't even want to do movies anymore.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: It's in her blood. Like, The whole family does it.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: Why not?
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: I know. But, yeah, I've said this before, but I'm really,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: once we get into, like, whatever the next big event
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: thing is coming up and our, you know, whatever our
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: next buildup to that is, going back and looking at
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: the early stages of this particular phase is going to
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: be fun for fans because, like, oh, this movie was
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: important because that's where that came from, or this was
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: important because that's where that came from. So in another
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: five years, a lot of this shit's going to make
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: sense to us, and we're going to go back and
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: appreciate movies or series that maybe we passed on initially.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: I'm still saying Eternals is going to turn out to
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: be a hell of a lot more important than we
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: actually thought it was once we get further down the pike.
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Good luck making me care. I might enjoy the thing
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: that comes later. I don't really want to go back
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: and watch them.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's definitely going to be some moments throughout
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: some of these more recent series and movies that people
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: are like, oh, they were telling us this then. Because
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: we can do that now going back looking at those
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: initial MCU movies that led us up to Avengers and
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: then eventually led us up to Infinity War and Endgame.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: You can go back and look through all this like, oh,
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: that's where we met this person. That's where this thing
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: happened here. That's where this happened here. So they leave
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: you the road map. But you just don't know how
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: to read it until once you've already got to the
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: place you're at.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't know where you're going to be able
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: to even make use of it.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so they're doing the same thing with us here. But, yeah,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: they're just taking a little more time because, like, well, okay,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: we were able to build a nice world for you
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: in a short period of time. But then now we've
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: got to replace a lot of stuff and tell some
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: more stories. So it's going to take us a little
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: longer to get there. But don't worry. It's going to
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: be worth it.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: I at least want to mention, we've definitely mentioned the character,
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: but I love Tessa Thompson so much.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: She is so great in everything I've seen her in,
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: but like, I was just enjoying, well, she's hilarious in
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: the first moon, just watching her being a drunk off
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: her ass. Most of the movie. Yeah. And like, now
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: that she's like them since end game became like a,
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: not only a productive member of society, but she's running
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: the society and then getting her watch, you get to
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: be a bad-ass again in this movie too.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Like, I don't know.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: I was just really enjoying her being there for it.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: Because I think just the two of them would have
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: been weird and awkward as much as it is anyway.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: But having her there as that third wheel and Korg,
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: it really does just kind of give us a fun
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: little group there that also just nobody... They're all kind
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: of doing different things and not really on the same
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: page emotionally.
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: Nobody knows what the... She's just there because she thinks
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: it's funny more than anybody else.
- 1:22:17Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: Like, everybody else kind of does their own thing, but
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: she's just sort of watching the whole time going, what's
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: going on with this?
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Well, and this thing is that, you know, basically, being
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: king is boring.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: It's real boring.
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: Especially, like, modern era king. Like, I'm sure in the
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: old days, you just, again, got drunk and screwed around
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: and did whatever the hell you wanted, but in the
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: real world, much like our royalty in other countries... You
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: don't do anything, really. You're just there as a figurehead.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: You have meetings. You have meetings. You sign things.
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: You try to make everybody happy, and you can't. So, yeah,
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: it sucks.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: It's a bunch of shit, really. And, of course, a
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: couple of my female friends have pointed this out. It's
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: kind of fun. They're basically like, we very easily settled
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: into King Valkyrie pre, and we didn't have a lot
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: of pushback with that.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: No.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: There was not a lot of that. He was like, okay,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: King Valkyrie, cool, okay. So there's some ladies out there.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: There's some gender fluid people out there going, little one
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: for us there. Thank you very much.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: I was just like, so they're going with King. All right.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: I was just like, she's running things either way. You
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: can call yourself whatever you want.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: Yep.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: She's King.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: She's awesome.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: Everybody's cool.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I always like her.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: She was so much fun in this.
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: She really was. Yeah. She definitely got to, you know,
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: you know, It wasn't so much a focal point for her,
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: but she definitely got to have a little more fun.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: Yeah, she's just there almost for that reason. Just because
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: it's fun to have her in the mix and have
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: a group again. It's good when you have your little...
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Everybody loves Korg, so you know you're going to go
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: with that. But yeah, having her in the mix too,
- 1:23:53Speaker 2: it gives us a nice little group to hang out
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: with for the movie.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: And I like too that there's... Of course, there's obviously
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: the Asgardians love Thor because he's their boy. He's Thor.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: And they love Jane coming in as Thor, too, so
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: they kind of got to love her pretty quickly, too.
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: But there was no ever disrespect for Valkyrie ever in
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: the film.
- 1:24:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: There was never any disrespect for her position. There was
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: never any Thor trying to take it from her. Yeah,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: he gladly gave it to her, more than she even
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: wanted it initially. And he still does not want it.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah. And she's good at it. Whether she likes
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: doing it or not, she's flourished at creating this whole
- 1:24:35Speaker 2: new town and this whole new group of people. Yeah,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: I like that in the other one, that he's falling
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: apart and he's a mess, and she's like, I'm running
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: out of time. I don't have time for your nonsense.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: And I'm kind of getting my stuff together. I'm not
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: a sad drunk anymore.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I've actually got a life now and you're becoming
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: the sad drunk. Yeah.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: But yeah, it's interesting they're doing that in the films
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: right now because there's been a couple of times where
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Thor has basically taken his rightful place as the son
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: of Odin and eventually the ruler of Asgard. They did
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: one storyline where basically Thor takes the throne and they
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: kind of jump forward in the future and yeah, things
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: weren't PG basically the two times that Thor has essentially
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: been on the throne of Asgard currently is now things
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: haven't gone well the first time is basically because he
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: kind of went a little nuts and And then the
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: current time is basically he's essentially overcompensating because he feels like, okay,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: dad ran things this way and we had a lot
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: of problems. So I'm going to do things this way.
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: And he ends up becoming almost more cruel than his
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: dad ever was at his worst.
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: In his early days with the firstborn, which I did
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: notice that going in. And I wondered, or going back,
- 1:25:49Speaker 2: rewatching the Bridenrock, we don't see Hela. I mean, the
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: whole planet blows up, but in Marvel tradition, if you
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: don't see the body, expect them to pop up again.
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: And she's also the goddess of death?
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, there's so many ways that she could
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: just sell. I kind of wondered, like, somewhere down the line,
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: are we bringing her back?
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: Of course we could.
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: Because I loved her as a villain. Like, she is, again,
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: when I watched it this time, doesn't have a ton
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: of screen time, but is so amazing every time she's
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: on screen. Like, she is old school Disney villain. Like,
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: there's no, like, even this one, like, we're supposed to
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: feel bad for him and his kid. And by the end,
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: we're like, yeah, we want him to. Like, there's none
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: of that with Hela. Like, she is just, just horrible
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: Disney villain. She is there to be a badass and
- 1:26:38Speaker 2: look cool and just glad to do it and has
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: no motivation other than her own interests. And, like, she
- 1:26:44Speaker 2: likes killing people. Like, there's no redeeming qualities with her.
- 1:26:48Speaker 2: She is just villain. So, yeah, she was fun. I
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: wouldn't mind seeing her come back.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Me too. And that's on brand with Hela. There's been
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: a couple times where Hela has had to help out
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: and she's done so reluctantly. But yeah, 95% of the
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: time Hela's a bitch and is causing problems either directly
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: or indirectly. My personal favorite was they did a Ragnarok
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: storyline about maybe 10-15 years ago where they did kill
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: off all the gods and then Thor was able to
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: come back kind of resurrect himself because when he died,
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: he had the Odin power. So later on, they decided
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: to bring him back. And when they do, all the
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: other gods had basically reincarnated, but they were not themselves.
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: So he had to go and essentially kind of wake
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: them back up. Well, when he gets to Loki, Loki's
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: a woman. And it's like, that's kind of weird. He
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: doesn't recognize her initially, but there's something familiar about Loki's
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: appearance that he doesn't quite pick. So Loki comes back
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: and you're, you know, Loki's doing her usual Loki stuff.
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: But then you're kind of finding into the mess.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: You're kind of getting further and further into the mystery
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: that basically Loki took Sif's body and Sif is trapped
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: in the body of a woman who's like dying of like,
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: she's like an elderly woman, like dying of some kind
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: of terminal cancer. So she has like days to live
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: and Sif's soul is trapped in this woman's body. Whereas
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: he's running around and basically the Sif's skin suit is
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: with loki underneath and basically hella is in cahoots with
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: loki over this so he's basically like she's kind of
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: keeping this link together whereas like loki can inhabit this
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: body even though he doesn't belong and she's got his
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: body handheld like an on ice kind of keeping it
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: safe and when thor finds out there's a bit of
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: reckoning but yeah but for a while loki runs around
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: with boobs i can.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: See Loki getting hooked up with her pretty easily yeah
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: that is his brand.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: Yeah but yeah so that's a fun storyline but yeah
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: definitely for Hela but yeah.
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: I just thought that as I watched that one I
- 1:28:51Speaker 2: was like I was enjoying her so much I was
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: like oh it's a shame we killed her off and
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: then I watched it at the end and I was
- 1:28:57Speaker 2: like did we? And once again, she's a mystical, super.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Empowered, whatever.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: So you can always loophole your way out of that.
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: Even if you saw the body, let alone, we didn't
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: even see the body. So just a big explosion, whatever.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Well, the same with, you know, searcher, the fire demon,
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: we can easily bring him back to, uh, because basically
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: he's a, he's from, uh, was it, uh, Nussballheim is
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: where all the fire, uh, giants are from. So basically
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: it's there. Basically it's all, it's not a hellscape, but
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: it's basically like everybody lives in a lot, you know,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: a volcano kind of shit.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: So, So, I mean, very easily, Surtur could come back.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: I mean, but again, how could you kill the goddess
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: of death?
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: It does seem like it would be difficult. Yeah.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: I don't care if a planet falls down on you.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: You know, Wanda's not dead either.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, like I said, there's always a little way to
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: get around this. As we've seen many times in this series.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: Thanos, very dead. Still could probably bring him back from,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: I mean, it's comic books.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: I mean, we did. The first thing that happened in Endgame,
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: we killed him. And yet, who's the villain at the
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: end of the movie?
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: Thanos.
- 1:30:00Speaker 2: So, there's always a loophole.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Because we brought back past Thanos.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: There's always a way.
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: There's always a way. But yeah, so, but I'm still
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: convinced that where we're heading towards is the Secret Wars
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: or basically we're, you know, because we, like I said,
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: we talk about incursions and Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: It's like, that's the big tell word right there. So
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: it's like, So it's going to be a much different
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: version of what we saw in the comics. But nonetheless,
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: we're going to see the multiverse basically being destroyed, Earth
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: being last left on the block. And to save ourselves,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: we pieced together this weird patchwork of the multiverse into
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: one planet. So I think we're going to get a
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: lot more crazy fan service of cameos and crossovers and
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: guest appearances by things we never thought we'd see.
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: I'm almost thoroughly convinced that whether or not he's going
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: to be joining the MCU in the role, we will
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: probably see Hugh Jackman as Wolverine at least once before
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: the end of this particular phase.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: He'll come back for that version. He'll do a cameo.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: He'll do a cameo.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: He doesn't care. He doesn't want to do it full time,
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: but he's also in his mid-50s. He doesn't need to
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: be doing it all.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: He still could, though.
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: I'm sure he could.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: That dude's a family youth right now.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: The Broadway.
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: He does. But there's been some interesting fan casting. Like,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: of course, Taron Egerton is the highest one I've seen
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: the most of being fans who want to cast him
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: as Wolverine. Not mad at that whatsoever. And a new
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: one I've seen pop up, and though we're getting into
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: he's almost getting too old for it, but still would
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: be fantastic, is Carl Urban.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: I mean, we just had him, though. We killed him
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: off in Ragnarok.
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but he was a small role. But if you get,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: I mean, you know.
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Because I thought that at the time, I was like,
- 1:31:51Speaker 2: so this is all he's doing? It does seem like
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: we would bring him in for a bigger role. But, yeah,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: it does seem like he would probably age out pretty quick.
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: Since they keep casting younger and younger for everybody now.
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: A whole new way of his kids.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: And, you know, the fact that basically Wolverine has an accent.
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: You know, his accent's kind of all over the place because, like,
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: He spent some time in Australia, the Outback. Then he's
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: also spent a lot of time in Canada.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: When you've been around that long, your accent's got to
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: either go away or just become a big muddled mess.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and so his accent's a big muddled mess. Of course, traditionally,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: sometimes he's done with no accent, just kind of a
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: tough guy voice. Sometimes he's been done with a full-on
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: Aussie accent, even though he's been more traditionally Canadian, but nonetheless.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: Except the animated, because I think all the voice actors
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: were Canadian. Well, there's a lot of boots going on
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: in the anime.
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: Well, that's the funny thing is that the 90s one that, yeah, they,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: you know, he was more Canadian and had some stuff there.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: But if you go back to the old Spider-Man and
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: his Amazing Friends. Oh, yeah, that's a whole different thing.
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: But, yeah, that 90s one that everybody loved, it was like,
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: I remember people lately been making fun of that. They're like, man,
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: you can hear the Canada in those voices.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. But, yeah, the X-Men episode of Spider-Man and
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: his Amazing Friends, which you can currently watch right now
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: on Disney +. is hilarious because it's like, Cronky, I'm Wolverine.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: I got my big old claws here, you bum. You're sneaky, sneaky.
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: You know, it's like, oh, shit. Oh, well. I mean,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: even back then, I'm like, dude, he doesn't fucking talk
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: I remember when Wolverine was cool. Never mind. You've ruined
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: it all.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: I was just like, I was like a little kid.
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, cool. The X-Men are going to be
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: in this episode. That's neat.
- 1:33:43Speaker 4: Wait.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: That's not boring.
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Whatever. Yeah. So, yeah. Like I said, this was definitely
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: a fun movie. I would certainly say it's a great
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: companion piece to Ragnarok. Ragnarok's the heavier of the two, obviously.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: And yet the more fun of the two. I mean,
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: I enjoy this one, and I like aspects of it.
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: But overall, between the two, again, having just gone back
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: again and rewatched it, I would probably want to go
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: back and rewatch Ragnarok. I do want to revisit this
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: one somewhere down the line. But as of now, and again,
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: that changes over time. So maybe I'll get more attached
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: to this one. But I don't know. It was a
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: little more cold overall for me.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Like I said, it definitely didn't have kind of
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: a big ramification sort of thing. it definitely felt short.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: I mean, like, it feels short, too. You know, so
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: it's like, there were some elements I could have used
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: some more of. Like I said, you know, Gore is
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: such an interesting villain, and he doesn't have a long lifespan.
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: No.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: But he did have a big impact because of kind
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: of the elements he introduces to Thor, essentially. Like, basically,
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: he Before Thor... Actually, well, Thor losing his worthiness happens,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: and then Gorr kind of shows up almost right on
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: top of that.
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: And so Thor was having some very existential crisis about
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: being a god, and so Gorr showing up did not
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: help things whatsoever. Because this is a guy who basically is, like,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: you know, is extremely angry at these deities, and they
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: got some of that, but I could have dealt with
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: more anger out of him. Because that's the thing. Essentially,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: what it was, the anger was there, and then the sword...
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: exacerbates it to the point of rage. You know, so...
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: But also at the same time, the sword kind of...
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: You know, very much like, you know, when... At Star Wars,
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: when somebody becomes a Sith Lord and they get their
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: dark side powers, it saps their life force and is
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: killing them slowly. That's what the Necrosword's also doing.
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: Which definitely, like, he plays on the creepy aspect of
- 1:35:47Speaker 2: it as it goes on. It is weird watching them fight, like, physically. Because...
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: as much as Bale at one point in time was
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: pretty ripped, like his arms are still okay, but otherwise
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: this character is pretty skinny. So watching him wrestle around
- 1:36:01Speaker 2: with Thor, who is humongous, I was like, what is this?
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: What are his evil powers again? Cause I don't know.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: It just seems like if they're doing more physical fighting,
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: it would, you would want them to look like they
- 1:36:14Speaker 2: were a little more evenly matched, but.
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: Well, I was thinking too is that, um, I kind
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: of wish they would have, they kind of cheated us
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: a little bit with Gore's appearance.
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Because in the comics, Gore, kind of like Voldemort, does
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: not have a nose. It's flat.
- 1:36:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: And then kind of like a Twi'lek from Star Wars,
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: he's got like these like tentacle things that are part
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: of his head that kind of look like resemble hair.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: You know, he's got like two of them that kind
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: of come out. So it kind of resembles hair somewhat,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: but basically they're just like these two big tentacles. And
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: they don't, They're just there. They don't move or do
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: anything else. He's just essentially two hands. That's it. But
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: it's just part of his look to make him look
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: very alien. But he looks very small and scrawny when
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: he's just a lowly worshiper. And then when he takes
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: the Necrosword and, again, very much is courting him and
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: seduces him and says, hey, you're mad at this shit.
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: I can help you take care of that.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: You pick me up and you and me can have
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: some fun, buddy. And when he gets the Necro sword,
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: it beefs him up. But he still... Power up. Yeah,
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: he gets a power up. So, like I said, they
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: want to emphasize the fact that, yes, as soon as
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: he picks up the sword, his appearance changes.
- 1:37:30Speaker 2: Yeah, because we don't... He looks, again, like, because we've
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: had so much magic, he looks more of a magic user.
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: He needs, like, a staff and be doing magic from
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: far away.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it, yeah.
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: Versus a hand-to-hand combat with some sword action. He... Maybe
- 1:37:44Speaker 2: I'm just going back to my sword and sandal roots,
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: but I expect him to be a big, beefy guy
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: wielding his sword, and he'd just look like a little
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: skinny guy dressed like a monk.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: And that's essentially kind of what he was. The nice
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: thing is that once the sword was gone, that's it.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: No more gore.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: He was it.
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so the sword was 100% the source of his abilities,
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: and once you get it out of his hands and
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: destroy it and whatever else, he ain't got shit. And
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: so he's back to being a lowly, you know, worshipping dude.
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: So there you go. But there were some nice little
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: things about his transformation that you kind of notice a
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: little more when you look at it. Basically, of course,
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: he had all these tattoos and stuff and these lines
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: all over him when he was normal. And then once
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: he becomes gore, you notice that there's scars all over him. Yeah.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: those tattoos off him.
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: He gets worse and worse every time we revisit him.
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: Yeah, he may have scarred himself to carve those tattoos
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: off him. So if you kind of look at him
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: and kind of like there's, you know, little more details,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: noticing that it tells more of a story.
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: I think that's the thing. He's got so much potential,
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: I kind of wanted more from him.
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with you.
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: It's a quick wrap-up, and yeah, we didn't get much
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: of a build-up, we didn't get much of a payoff.
- 1:38:54Speaker 2: It was just sort of, he's a cool idea, and
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: then they wrap up the movie.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's kind of interesting, though, they do start...
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: You were kind of right, they kind of lose their
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: way with him a bit, because we start the movie
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: off a cold open of, you get his origin story,
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: how he gets to this point, and then... He kills
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: a god, and all of a sudden, boom! Now we're
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: going into our Marvel title transit.
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: We gotta chase him down and get this guy. So
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: it's like, oh, okay. We don't spend much time with
- 1:39:21Speaker 2: him for most of the movie.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and the stealing the children sort of thing was like...
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: That wasn't part of... Basically, what Gore essentially is doing is...
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: He's going around killing all these gods and building up power...
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: And once he's done that, he's creating this device he
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: calls the God Bomb, which basically in one fell swoop
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: kills everything. And so that's basically what his whole plot is.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: So it's like he's basically trying to make it so.
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: So the whole stealing the kids and going to eternity
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: to make a wish stuff, it's like, okay.
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: What was the plan with the kids? Was it just
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: to be a jerk? Yeah, because I was like, why
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: do you want a bunch of kids hanging around?
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: It's 100% allure. To get Thor and Stormbreaker to the
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: Shadow Realm, he had to get him there in some way, shape,
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: or form because he needed the axe to open up
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: the portal to get to Eternity. So the whole thing
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: of stealing kids was just to bring him there. So
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, it's like they really had to kind
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: of truncate Gore's story and change a lot of things
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: and change some stuff about Thor's story of losing the
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: hammer and Jane having it and Jane's cancer. So they
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: managed to pack a lot in. The one thing I
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: will definitely give credit for Marvel is the economic writing
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: they have. Oh yeah.
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: And I never have a problem with the changes. I
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: know a lot of readers get way more frustrated with
- 1:40:51Speaker 2: that and i'm just like if you're making because again
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: you're not retelling the comic if you want the comic
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: it's already there go read it so we're doing something
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: different so if you need to do something different to
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: tell your story go ahead and change it if you're
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: doing it in a good way but that's not always
- 1:41:08Speaker 2: the case usually with marvel it is but yeah.
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: Yes i i agree that yeah so you're you're not
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: telling the exact same story you're That was told in
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: the comics. So, yeah, there are going to be a
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: lot of changes. There's sometimes like, okay, well, I could
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: have done a little bit more with this, or they
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: could have elaborated a bit more on this point here.
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: Even though you weren't telling, you know, A, B, and
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: C parts of this story, you still could have done
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: a little bit more with that. But again, though, it's
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: still a good sign that we still enjoy the movie
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: coming away from it, and we're wanting more.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: Definitely interested to see what they do with the way
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: they left it.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. We've got some interesting points coming. She-Hulk sticks
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: out like a weird entry.
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: Green thumb.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: Green thumb, basically. Because, of course, she's extremely powerful.
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: And great with plants.
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: But, well, the thing is... God. But, you know, she's
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: a much different person and handles her abilities far differently
- 1:42:10Speaker 1: than Bruce. I mean, like, that's the thing, too.
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: Bruce barely handles his abilities. And at times doesn't.
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: That's the weird thing, too, is that, you know, in
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: the Eric Bana Hulk movie and in the Edward Norton
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: Hulk movie, we definitely really hit home with the troubled...
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: Bruce Banner, he has some problems and the Hulk thing
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: that makes everything worse. We really haven't seen that kind
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: of level of.
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: Apathy, sadness, and tragedy with the Ruffalo performance. Because he
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: got thrown into Avengers. We're like, okay, we need a
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: big Hulk dude. And he's been kind of like... We
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: saw a little bit of Age of Ultron.
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: I feel like there's a lot there. We just don't
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: know why. We don't have the real backstory of it.
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: But I feel like he's been better at portraying how.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: He is with it. Like how much of a fight
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: it was just to deal with it. How hard it
- 1:43:08Speaker 2: was to try to make peace with the fact that
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: he stuck with this other entity in him.
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: Like I think his portrayals actually had more to it
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: but we don't know where it came from really.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: Yeah. The story is the same. It's essentially like because
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: that's kind of the weird thing I kind of threw
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: it through a loop. It's like the Ed Norton movie
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: was our Hulk origin story.
- 1:43:28Speaker 2: It's still canon technically.
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean even though it's you know Because there's
- 1:43:33Speaker 1: some weird rights things going on. It's not on Disney +,
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: so it's not with the rest of the movies. People
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: sometimes forget that it's part of the MCU, but it is. But,
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: because when you had the cast changeover of Ruffalo now,
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: but it's still the same, that's still the same Bruce.
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's still the same Bruce.
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: That's still that same story. But, yeah, it's like we've had, like,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: you know, there's been a couple of really good elements. Like,
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: you know, basically like in the first Avengers film when
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: He's talking like he put a gun in his mouth
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: and the big guy spit it out.
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: That was there.
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: In the old one. Yeah. And, of course, we see
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: in Ragnarok and in Infinity War and Endgame where there's
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: the fight over the body. But there's actually a lot
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: more turmoil going on and a lot more personas of
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: the Hulk. No. Because there's basically versions of the Hulk
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: that are very childlike and kind of like, oh, oops, sorry,
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: I crashed that building. I didn't really mean to do that.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: He's kind of like that in Ragnarok.
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: But there's also a very sinister side to him as well.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: And a side that says, yeah, I crashed that building
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: and I don't give a shit. As a matter of fact,
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: I'm going to go do that building and that building.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: When you have that much power, why would you care?
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: That's the thing. There's the level of that power, but
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: there's also the anger that's there because of Bruce's upbringing.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Because what happens to him and basically how he is
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: treated after he becomes the Hulk. So basically he's constantly
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: being hunted because of just what he is. And so, yeah,
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: so there's a lot of anger in there. And so
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: sometimes when that anger comes out in the Hulk, basically
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: you get a hero turned villain.
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: And that's happened more than a few times in the comics.
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: Of course, like the World War Hulk was a very
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: famous one. The Immortal Hulk storyline that just ran, that
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: finished a couple of years ago. Holy shit.
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: I mean, I thought that's how we got Planet Hulk
- 1:45:28Speaker 2: was because they just, he was so much trouble. Yeah.
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: They just sent him away. Yeah, that's exactly what happened.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: And then World War Hulk is basically him coming back going, okay.
- 1:45:39Speaker 2: Hey guys, remember me?
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Yeah, so all y'all that sent me off to that
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: planet and the planet got blown up, you want me
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: to make a whole life there? Guess what? I did that.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: Then the planet got blown up because you sent me
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: on a shoddy spaceship. So all y'all line up, I'm
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: going to kick every one of your asses.
- 1:45:58Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: And then I just love it. At the end of
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: the story, basically Hulk essentially just kind of gives up,
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: turns the banner, says, all right, I'm done. Y'all couldn't
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: beat me. I'm done whipping your asses. I'm done with
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: this shit. I'm going to take a siesta. That's just
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: dropping the mic there. It's like, wow, you couldn't beat
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: the villain, so he beats himself. There you go. I
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: would like to see a darker Hulk somewhere down the line.
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: It's in there, and it's going to come out of
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: him sooner or later.
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: I just don't know what their plans are with that either.
- 1:46:37Speaker 2: If he still wants to keep doing it long term
- 1:46:40Speaker 2: or not.
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: We'll get more of kind of a hopefully more of
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: a clue of what's been going on with Banner since
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: we've seen him since Endgame and kind of what his
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: future might be in the She-Hulk series maybe. I don't know.
- 1:46:53Speaker 1: We'll see.
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: Alright.
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: We're left with more questions. We'll see where all these
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: open ended things come about I guess.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yes.
- 1:47:03Speaker 2: Alright. Well let's load up the Guns N' Roses and
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: get the hell.
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: Out You know, I love to where you're like, okay,
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: let's count the hair metal one. And we pick one band.
- 1:47:15Speaker 2: But then that's the thing. At first I was like,
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: is this a weird deal that they made? But then
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: before we started, I was like, what is with that?
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: Because I'm counting them off. I'm like, they're going through
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: the hits, man. All the big ones are in there.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: Four songs.
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: And then I read the thing earlier.
- 1:47:31Speaker 7: Mr.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: Watiti is just a big dorky fan. Yep. He's like,
- 1:47:36Speaker 2: that's what I do. I go home. I watch old
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: Guns N' Roses videos. I think they're the coolest. As
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: they got further in, the legal guys were like, you
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: might want to talk with Axl about this first. And
- 1:47:48Speaker 2: he was such a dork, he didn't want to talk
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: to Axl. So it is cool that I guess they
- 1:47:53Speaker 2: got Slash to come in and do it. But yeah,
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: I think at that point, they were just like, all right,
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: play your album. You like the guys.
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: But yeah, it's so cool. Some people are going to
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: be like, oh, that's neat. They kind of did like
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: a rock and roll version of the Marvel theme. Like, no.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: There's a certain point where he hits a note when
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: that's fucking Slash.
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: That is Slash.
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: That is a distinctive sound, sir. I know you.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: One of the best guitarists in the world. Yeah.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: So it's like, oh. that's cool.
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: I'm totally not surprised that he did it because he's
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: also a big dork. In the old days, he was
- 1:48:27Speaker 2: drunk most of the time, but now when I saw
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: him in that lull when the band wasn't doing much
- 1:48:33Speaker 2: anymore and you hadn't seen him for a while and
- 1:48:35Speaker 2: I saw him pop up on that decorating show, I
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: was like, You have nothing else to do. You're watching
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: decorating shows, aren't you? And then when I found out
- 1:48:44Speaker 2: he bought a dinosaur, like a actual museum-quality dinosaur bones
- 1:48:49Speaker 2: to put in his entryway, I'm like, you're the biggest
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: dork ever. As if I didn't like you enough, Slash.
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: He's such a geek. I can see him totally wanting
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: to be part of the MCU.
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: Well, and this thing is that you see it wasn't
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: doing much. The funny thing was, of course, he had
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: a couple of solo albums like the Slash and Snake
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: Pit kind of stuff. And the other band. But then
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: he's had like four records with his Slash featuring Miles
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Kennedy and the Impersonators. Basically, he's got Slash playing guitar
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: and Miles Kennedy singing. And frankly... A lot of their
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: stuff is better than Guns N' Roses. Yeah, I said it. Blasphemy.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: But I'm sorry. There are some songs off those records
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: that I'm like, dude, why are these not hits? They
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: sound like Guns N' Roses except Miles Kennedy's voice buries
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Axl Rose.
- 1:49:43Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Said that too.
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: Bold statement.
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: Said that too. Yeah. Axl, you're fine, dude. Great. But
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: Miles Kennedy, much better.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: Well, not that he wasn't doing anything. I just liked
- 1:49:55Speaker 2: that he was dork enough that he was sitting home
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: watching Trading Spaces.
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: Oh, I know.
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: I was just like, yeah, yeah, that's Slash. That's where
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: he is now.
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: I know. Yeah, that's fun stuff. But I was at
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: least glad that we worked in one other metal song
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: that wasn't a Guns N' Roses song.
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: But it's so perfectly suited to this. It starts with lightning,
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: and then the whole rest of the song is rainbows. Like, it's...
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: It's so Asgard. Like, it's the perfect song.
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: I mean, you know.
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: Since Immigrant Song, which we already... Which they already paid
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: a fortune for last time, I'm sure.
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but good old Ronnie James Dio, Rainbow in the
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: Dark popped up there. And I'm pissed off that that
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: got relegated to the end credits. I'm like... Okay, we
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: had four fucking Guns N' Roses songs throughout the movie
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: that got featured in there. Why couldn't we have worked
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: Rainbow in the Dark in there, like, just a little bit?
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: I feel like that at least balances it out.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: These are the ones during the movie, and then in
- 1:50:48Speaker 2: credits is usually its own thing anyway. So it's like
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: he can have his own focus time, because you don't
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: know if he's going anywhere in one of those movies anyway.
- 1:50:55Speaker 2: So they can sit there in the theater and listen
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: to the entirety of Rainbow in the Dark.
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: I was okay with that. I was fine with that,
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: but I could have used it earlier in the movie
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: as well, you know?
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: You just listen to it in the car on the
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: way to the theater.
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: Yeah. And it's also funny, too, that we basically, it
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: took us four Thor movies to work Rainbow in the Dark.
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: I know. That's why I was like, how is this
- 1:51:17Speaker 2: not in the first movie?
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: It's so perfect. We got Black Sabbath in the first
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: Iron Man movie. Somebody got the joke there.
- 1:51:24Speaker 2: Somebody asleep at the wheel on this one. It's not
- 1:51:27Speaker 2: Wakiti's fault.
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, of course, Immigrant Song basically is not
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: necessarily about Thor and either is Rainbow in the Dark,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: but It, you know, has, you know, Viking sort of,
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: you know, things.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: It's the Viking song, essentially.
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: Yeah. But, yeah, that's, gosh.
- 1:51:43Speaker 2: Well, it's been quite a journey.
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: It has been.
- 1:51:48Speaker 2: Thank you for going on this journey with us, and
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: thank you for joining me. So. Absolutely. You have things
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: going on you want to tell people?
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: I do. Of course, if you want to talk more
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: geek stuff, each week I do a show called Fanatic Form.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: I'm on Facebook. I'm on YouTube, so look me up.
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: I'm on Friday nights, 7 o'clock. I go live, so
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: I always want people to interact and join the conversation.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: I usually talk about, like, you know, I got new
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: comics to show off each week, but then whatever's going on.
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: There's something with the MCU, something Star Wars, wrestling, whatever
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: kind of geek stuff. I don't care. We're pretty free-flowing,
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: but it's a lot more of some more same geek talk.
- 1:52:28Speaker 2: Definitely. Yeah, fun stuff.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: I'm always welcoming of the geeks. We all have our
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: own little world here. We have to work together.
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: Go see what he's got going on. And specifically, if
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: you're there Friday nights, you can interact along the way.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: That's right. Yeah. I love people giving questions and comments
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: and bringing their own takes on stuff when we're talking about. So, yeah.
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: Join the conversation. Fanatic forum. Yeah.
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: Go check it out. Otherwise, that about does it. We
- 1:52:56Speaker 2: will return next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: Later.
- 1:52:59Speaker 10: She got a smile that seems to me.
- 1:53:07Speaker 5: Memories Everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Now and then I see her face.
- 1:53:23Speaker 11: She takes me to.
- 1:53:26Speaker 5: That special place And if I stay too long I'll
- 1:53:31Speaker 5: probably break down and cry.
- 1:53:36Speaker 10: Oh, oh, hello, sweet child of mine. Oh, oh, oh, yeah.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: Sweet love of mine.
- 1:53:53Speaker 11: She got it.
- 1:53:59Speaker 5: Like the bluest skies as if they thought of rain.
- 1:54:04Speaker 10: I'd hate to look into.
- 1:54:09Speaker 5: Those eyes and.
- 1:54:12Speaker 10: See an ounce of pain. It reminds me of a
- 1:54:18Speaker 10: one-day place where as a child.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: Oh, oh, oh, oh.
- 1:54:47Speaker 4: The sweet love of mine.
- 1:54:50Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:54:53Speaker 9: Yeah. Oh, oh.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: Oh, sweet love.
- 1:55:45Speaker 10: Of mine.
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: Guitar solo Now, now, now, now.
- 1:56:29Speaker 9: Where do we go?
- 1:56:30Speaker 1: Where do we go?
- 1:56:33Speaker 9: Where do we go.
- 1:56:35Speaker 10: Now, sweet child?
- 1:56:37Speaker 11: Where do we go?
- 1:56:39Speaker 9: Where do we go?
- 1:56:41Speaker 10: Where do we go now, sweet child of mine?
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: Once Upon a Time in America is a, while a
