- 0:04Speaker 1: this Friday. It's been a great week. Thank you guys
- 0:07Speaker 1: for listening always. We appreciate you. Before we get out
- 0:11Speaker 1: of here, Junior, you have a question for Oh I
- 0:14Speaker 1: had a question for Jr. No, you have a question.
- 0:19Speaker 1: You haven't seen Bucking the Preacher. What is that movie?
- 0:22Speaker 1: Movie Bucking the Preacher? Wow? What year was that? Oh? Yeah,
- 0:28Speaker 1: you wasn't here. I want to see it.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It's with Sidney Poitier and Harry Belafonte.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Harry, all right, the games begin. Junior, you have a
- 0:46Speaker 1: question for Steve Craig.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I'm staying now to ask anything because I know it's
- 0:50Speaker 3: gonna lead to.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Y'all going to come on.
- 0:55Speaker 2: No, I ain't going. That was the only reason I
- 1:00Speaker 2: went because of Junior Bridgeman. He was the first person
- 1:03Speaker 2: that really invited me to and took care of me
- 1:05Speaker 2: and everything. Man, And that was the reason I went. Man,
- 1:11Speaker 2: Junior Bridgeman. Man was one of the great great men
- 1:15Speaker 2: in this world on this earth. Man. I'm gonna tell
- 1:18Speaker 2: you something. I never met a finer man than Junior Bridgeman.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I've never met a finer man. Sitting around Junior Bridgeman
- 1:26Speaker 2: made me want to be a better businessman, but more importantly,
- 1:32Speaker 2: just a better husband and father. I never saw nobody,
- 1:38Speaker 2: not no man that had that kind of money, that
- 1:41Speaker 2: was that way with his family. I ain't never seen
- 1:43Speaker 2: it before. I've never seen it. And Junior Bridgeman was
- 1:47Speaker 2: that guy. I've never seen it, man, And I mean
- 1:49Speaker 2: that from the bottom of my heart. I never saw it.
- 1:51Speaker 2: And he inspired me to do better because he was
- 1:54Speaker 2: that way. I went wild because you know, look, man,
- 2:00Speaker 2: he taught me so much. Man. He tried to help
- 2:02Speaker 2: me in so many ways to teach me, but he
- 2:05Speaker 2: just did it by example. He didn't never sit me
- 2:08Speaker 2: down to go, hey, man, do this, do this, do this.
- 2:10Speaker 2: He just said he would invite me around him and
- 2:13Speaker 2: then he'd just be who he was and who he was. Man,
- 2:16Speaker 2: was really really special guy. So I kind of I
- 2:20Speaker 2: had some people invited me there to the Kentucky Derby
- 2:25Speaker 2: this year, but you know, the conducted Derby to me
- 2:31Speaker 2: as I knew it, it was Junior Bridgeman. And for
- 2:37Speaker 2: that reason, Yeah, man, he was just he was a
- 2:40Speaker 2: great person.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Wow, just a great dude.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Man.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And people that knew him know what I'm talking about
- 2:48Speaker 2: so and if you never met him, boy, you missed it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You missed him really good, dude. Yeah, So I just
- 2:54Speaker 2: wanted to say that, Junior, what you got?
- 2:55Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 2:56Speaker 3: Can I ask you something? Because you said something Jr.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Bridgeman being a bitter husband and everything. Don't you think
- 3:02Speaker 3: you were a great husband and grateful too? I think
- 3:05Speaker 3: you are. I think you were grateful.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I think I've grown into the role a lot better.
- 3:12Speaker 2: When I was younger, man, I wasn't that great of
- 3:14Speaker 2: a father because I just wasn't there. I had picked
- 3:20Speaker 2: up stakes to chase this dream and that caused me
- 3:23Speaker 2: to neglect some people. And I knew that, man, and
- 3:27Speaker 2: I wish I had chosen a different way to do it.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But at that particular time in my age, with that mindset,
- 3:34Speaker 2: I made my decisions based on the capabilities that I had.
- 3:40Speaker 2: You know, I didn't know any better. I did what
- 3:44Speaker 2: I thought was the best way. I'm glad I did it,
- 3:47Speaker 2: but I did it with regrets. You know, I do
- 3:50Speaker 2: regret that in my decision to pursue my dreams that
- 3:55Speaker 2: it costs some people. You know, it did, man, It
- 4:01Speaker 2: cost some people. And I guess, like Bishop Jakes has
- 4:04Speaker 2: told me, over and over and over. He said, Man,
- 4:06Speaker 2: you're too hard on yourself. He says, you got to
- 4:09Speaker 2: stop being so hard on yourself. Man, But I was,
- 4:12Speaker 2: and I just took that into account with everything. And
- 4:16Speaker 2: I guess I've spent all my life, like I said
- 4:19Speaker 2: at my daughter Carly's wedding, which was very emotional for me,
- 4:23Speaker 2: I said at my daughter's wedding, I've spent my entire
- 4:25Speaker 2: adult life making up to mistakes I made when I
- 4:28Speaker 2: was a young man. And so I had to learn,
- 4:32Speaker 2: really man, to forgive myself. I had to forgive myself.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Now there are people who still hold me to that
- 4:40Speaker 2: twenty seven year old dude that I was. It's still
- 4:44Speaker 2: people who hold me to the twenty four year old
- 4:46Speaker 2: dude that I was. But I had to learn to
- 4:49Speaker 2: stop allowing people to do that to me, because if
- 4:52Speaker 2: God has changed me and God has forgiven me, then
- 4:56Speaker 2: that gives me the right and the opportunity to move
- 5:00Speaker 2: move on, to step up. And my advice to everybody
- 5:04Speaker 2: out there is stop allowing people to hold you to
- 5:07Speaker 2: your past when God has clearly moved you forward.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Take the forward route.
- 5:12Speaker 2: And so I am a much better husband, a much
- 5:16Speaker 2: better father. You know, because now what's crazy is now
- 5:21Speaker 2: that I've gotten to where I took off, where I
- 5:23Speaker 2: took off too when I was twenty seven years old
- 5:25Speaker 2: to become I've arrived there. I've gotten to where I
- 5:28Speaker 2: set out to be. Now the crazy thing is God
- 5:31Speaker 2: put me way beyond where I thought that was. I
- 5:34Speaker 2: accomplished what I set out to accomplish, but what God
- 5:38Speaker 2: did for me on top of that, what he stacked
- 5:40Speaker 2: on top of that, was far more than I thought
- 5:42Speaker 2: i'd ever be. And so now that I'm here, it's
- 5:46Speaker 2: the crazy thing. Every decision I make now is not
- 5:51Speaker 2: for me. It's for them. Everything I do is for
- 5:57Speaker 2: my wife, for my children, and for my grandchildren. Everything.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I don't make no decisions now without considering that. Now.
- 6:06Speaker 2: I don't know how long it takes a man to
- 6:08Speaker 2: get to that point. We all got our own individual
- 6:11Speaker 2: journeys with that, and I'm not saying you need to
- 6:14Speaker 2: be there in order to be a man. But it's
- 6:17Speaker 2: a lot more rewarding for me right now because I
- 6:21Speaker 2: realized that it ain't about me. It ain't for me,
- 6:24Speaker 2: it's for them. I still got work on that grandfather thing.
- 6:28Speaker 2: I ain't really locked that in yet. But you know
- 6:30Speaker 2: I'm there for them. I give them anything, but I
- 6:32Speaker 2: ain't even locked. I love the great kids. I like
- 6:35Speaker 2: it when they go. Those are my closing remarks today.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Have a great day to y'all. Have a great day today, y'all.
