Latest / Stuff Keeps Happening / The Past Tense of Prince
Transcript
- 0:00Hello, I increased the throughput on my copper
- 0:03sheet manifold. But stuff still happened. So
- 0:08what's up? I have decided that the past tense
- 0:10of Prince is Prunts. Prunts Andrew was arrested
- 0:14on his 66th birthday for bad stuff. He used to
- 0:18be a prince, but they stripped all of his titles
- 0:19and I don't feel like calling him by his actual
- 0:21name, so I'm gonna call him Prunts Andrew. So
- 0:23yeah, we all just kind of woke up one morning
- 0:25and the British government arrested a royal.
- 0:28That doesn't happen often. Can we do that? But
- 0:32no, I mean we don't have Royals. But still, Prince
- 0:34Andrew has been in the spotlight for a long time
- 0:37with regards to the Epstein stuff. Longer than
- 0:39most other people have been. And so I thought
- 0:42maybe let's do like a quick timeline about how
- 0:44one goes from being a decorated military royal
- 0:48service member to...prince. February 19th, 1960.
- 0:54A prince is born. He's Prince at that point.
- 0:58It's Andrew Albert Christian Edward as white
- 1:01as it gets Yeah, he got born. He did a good job
- 1:04with that 1980 to 2000. He was a Royal Navy Helicopter
- 1:09boy. He was apparently really good at the helicopters
- 1:11with the Navy. Good job guy I don't know much
- 1:14about helicopters. They fly over my fucking house
- 1:17all day in 1999. He met a cheeky little guy named
- 1:21Jeffrey Epstein. They were set up via connection
- 1:23through Ghislaine Maxwell. 11 years later in
- 1:272010, Prince Andrew was photographed with Jeffrey
- 1:29Epstein in New York City after Epstein's release
- 1:32from prison. That's the first time that Epstein
- 1:35was in prison. He didn't get out the second time.
- 1:37At least we don't know that. For basically the
- 1:40rest of the 2010s, he was dealing with more allegations
- 1:42and trying to explain why he was spotted with
- 1:45Epstein after Epstein was done serving his jail
- 1:47sentence for the whole child molestation thing.
- 1:50Running out of breath because there's too much
- 1:53awful boys doing awful boy things. Sorry, it's
- 1:57been a weird day. It's been a weird day for me.
- 2:002019 rolls around and he goes on an interview
- 2:03with BBC where he tries to smooth things over
- 2:06and explain his past and his connections with
- 2:08Jeffrey Epstein and it was supposed to be a PR
- 2:11move to settle everything up. And that did not
- 2:14work. The interview went super, super bad and
- 2:17basically set him on the path towards where he
- 2:19is now. By 2025, he is a full on prince. His
- 2:23titles have been stripped and he's barely associated
- 2:26with the royal family anymore. February 19th.
- 2:292026? Hey, that was recently! That's when they
- 2:32rolled up on his birthday, arrested him, gave
- 2:34us a picture of him looking crazy, and that's
- 2:38history, baby. At time of recording, he is not
- 2:40detained. He is currently out and under investigation.
- 2:43They are specifically charging him with an allegation
- 2:46that he shared government information with Jeffrey
- 2:49Epstein. That's... I guess they got Al Capone
- 2:52on taxes. I have decided that the past tense
- 2:54of tariff is, no shit, Sherlock. The United States
- 2:58Supreme Court has struck down Donald Trump's
- 3:00signature tariffs. And it's a mess. But don't
- 3:03take my word for it. That's a quote. from Brett
- 3:06Kavanaugh in his dissent. He wanted to keep the
- 3:08tariffs because the refunds would be a mess.
- 3:11That's right, 175 billion US dollar -y dues are
- 3:15currently available for refunds. This is not
- 3:18a thing that's gonna happen automatically. That'd
- 3:20be too convenient. Let's back up. What the hell
- 3:23is going on? That's... That's a good question.
- 3:26Sort of in general. Last year, Donald Trump had
- 3:29Liberation Day, where he put tariffs on basically
- 3:32every country in the world. Now, the Supreme
- 3:36Court said that the way he did that was unconstitutional
- 3:39and he can't put tariffs on every country in
- 3:41the world. And so he responded by finding another
- 3:45way to try to put tariffs on every country in
- 3:47the world. After the Supreme Court decision came
- 3:49out, he went and did a press conference where
- 3:51he was fucking mad. Anyway, he was like, oh,
- 3:55nah, dog, there's another law that I'm gonna
- 3:58use that lets me put a 15 % tariff on every country
- 4:01in the world. Notably, the thing that he wants
- 4:04to use has never been used before, but it also
- 4:06has limitations. It can only go on for 150 days
- 4:09until Congress would have to actually get involved
- 4:12and approve of the tariffs, which is a thing
- 4:15that Congress does. Congress controls tariffs.
- 4:18They're the tax ones. They do that. But Trump
- 4:21seems to still... very strongly believe that's
- 4:24not the case. He also seems to still think that
- 4:26tariffs are how we're going to fix everything.
- 4:28And that's not the case either. To the best of
- 4:30my knowledge, this is where things stand right
- 4:31now. There's a big old pool of money that companies
- 4:34can request refunds from. We have no idea what
- 4:36that process will look like. This is very, very
- 4:39unprecedented. It will be a mess. All the while,
- 4:41in a couple of days, there were supposed to be
- 4:43more tariffs coming out where we're going to
- 4:45have to see what happens there with this temporary
- 4:47tariff thing. It really comes down to will the
- 4:50Republicans ever tell Trump to fucking stop.
- 4:54Because beyond the fact that US citizens are
- 4:56the ones that are paying for the tariffs, it's
- 4:59not good for our trade partners who are like
- 5:01constantly dealing with this shit. It's a pretty
- 5:04great way to tell other countries like, hey,
- 5:05doing business with us is more effort than it's
- 5:08worth. All of the tariffs that Trump has been
- 5:09making are all built on the back of a national
- 5:12emergency declaration. I don't think most people
- 5:15even remember that. He claimed that there is
- 5:17a national emergency. that gave him the power
- 5:21to put all these tariffs out. I don't think a
- 5:24national emergency merits setting up fanfare
- 5:26for a fake holiday to fulfill one of your campaign
- 5:29promises. I feel like a national emergency is
- 5:31more like, I don't know. what we're doing to
- 5:34Cuba. What are we doing to Cuba? We'll get to
- 5:36that in just one moment. I also just want to
- 5:38say that Trump has this week announced that the
- 5:40United States will be giving a $10 billion donation
- 5:44to his Board of Peace. That's right, the Board
- 5:47of Peace, which is an adventure by Trump as an
- 5:51independent organization to contrast the UN.
- 5:54It also gives him... total veto authority in
- 5:57perpetuity even like after he's no longer the
- 6:00president. It's a complete, it's a farce. It's
- 6:02a fucking farce. It's a scam. Like you have to
- 6:04pay a billion dollars as a country to permanently
- 6:07join. They rescinded Canada's invitation to the
- 6:11Board of Peace after Mark Carney went to Davos
- 6:14and gave that speech where he said that like
- 6:15the US is all fucked up now. And pretty much
- 6:18the only countries that are on board right now
- 6:19are smaller authoritarian leaning countries.
- 6:22lining up with a large authoritarian country.
- 6:25But yeah, Trump was just like, I'm gonna take
- 6:2710 billion dollars from the US and give it to
- 6:29my organization. Because I can. Side note, he
- 6:33can't, if we stop him. Let's talk Cuba. Cuba
- 6:35is currently experiencing a man -made humanitarian
- 6:38crisis at the hands of the United States. Obviously
- 6:41the US and Cuba have a long -running and very
- 6:43rocky relationship, but over the past few years
- 6:45we've been blockading oil into the island and
- 6:48after we just randomly usurped Venezuela, We've
- 6:52stopped basically all oil shipments to Cuba.
- 6:55So right now Cuba is operating with essentially
- 6:57no oil incoming. They've got a little bit of
- 6:59a trickle from Mexico, they've got a little tiny
- 7:01bit of reserves, but that's kind of it. Because
- 7:04of this there are massive power outages. There's
- 7:06food scarcity. Basically no education systems
- 7:09are currently running and the healthcare system
- 7:11is on the brink of collapse. People are waiting
- 7:13months to get their hands on fuel. Mexico is
- 7:16providing humanitarian aid and food to try to
- 7:19help curb Potential starvation? And again, all
- 7:23of this is just because the US, specifically
- 7:25the Trump administration, more specifically Marco
- 7:28Rubio, just wants to do this. Marco Rubio has
- 7:30been at the center of a lot of the US -Cuba relations
- 7:33for a while. He really, really loves to hate
- 7:36on Cuba. Marco Rubio very famously claimed that
- 7:38his family fled communist Cuba and ran to America,
- 7:42and that's what makes this country great, because
- 7:44he's the son of immigrants? Marco Rubio? Anyway,
- 7:47he really, really... likes to pander to the Cuban
- 7:50vote in Florida. That's basically how he got
- 7:52to his current position. And he does it despite
- 7:55his family having actually left Cuba before the
- 7:58communists took over. Like years prior. And they
- 8:01also even like went back to visit. It's casual,
- 8:04it's chilling. At the end of the day, essentially
- 8:05Marco Rubio has staked his political career on
- 8:08trying to topple Cuba. He's built this whole
- 8:10ethos about how Cuba was so bad to his parents
- 8:13and now he got to overthrow the government because
- 8:16American propaganda is very, very thick. So while
- 8:19all of this is happening and an active humanitarian
- 8:21crisis is unfolding and international condemnation
- 8:24is rolling in, Trump has said that Cuba can end
- 8:27it right now by just coming to the negotiation
- 8:29table and making a deal. Side note, I am incredibly
- 8:32exhausted. by the wildly rapey framing of everything
- 8:37that comes out of this administration. Oh, well,
- 8:39if they want to not starve to death, they could
- 8:42just take a deal. Of which we set all the terms.
- 8:46Anyway, they basically want Cuba to come and
- 8:48agree to a deal that amounts to essentially regime
- 8:51change. That's what's going on here. They are
- 8:53trying to starve the Cuban populace. into submission
- 8:56with our tax dollars through another third party
- 8:59country that we invaded. Marco Rubio is also
- 9:01reported to be in secret talks with the grandson
- 9:04of Raul Castro, who is the not leader of Cuba.
- 9:09He's like 96 years old and technically not the
- 9:11leader of Cuba, but also technically still holds
- 9:13a lot of power. Long story short, there is an
- 9:16actual leader of Cuba, but the US is just going
- 9:19around official channels and talking directly
- 9:22to a sort of shadow leader, which is a really
- 9:25cool way to do all of this. Now, I'm not gonna
- 9:27sit here and pretend that I have full context
- 9:30on the entirety of the situation that happened
- 9:32before I was even born in Cuba. But my understanding
- 9:35of the current situation is that a lot of the
- 9:37people who fled Cuba when the communists took
- 9:40over were ones who were associated with the then
- 9:43authoritarian regime that got pushed out. And
- 9:46so a lot of these people who were, quote, fleeing
- 9:48communism were really just fleeing accountability
- 9:52for their actions. It would be similar to like
- 9:54ICE agents fleeing the U .S. Does that mean that
- 9:57every single Cuban person who is in America is
- 9:59an evil person? No, obviously not. But the rhetoric
- 10:03around like people fleeing Cuba, fleeing the
- 10:06communist regime that wanted to kill everyone
- 10:07in Cuba, that is pure American propaganda bullshit.
- 10:11The reality is far more understandable. There
- 10:13was a faction that was in control in Cuba that
- 10:15was supported by the U .S. It was very violent,
- 10:18and it was overthrown, and the US didn't like
- 10:20that, and we've been mad ever since. So where
- 10:22we are is Cuba is facing a humanitarian crisis
- 10:25at the hands of the US, and I wish I had good
- 10:28words to share for you, but I don't. It doesn't
- 10:30look like it's gonna be resolved particularly
- 10:32soon. Please tell people about this. Like, mention
- 10:34the ongoing crisis in Cuba at the hands of the
- 10:37US. Like, it's just not being discussed. And
- 10:40I'm not one to say that, like, mainstream media
- 10:43is not talking about whatever, because I'm using
- 10:45sources from the mainstream media to talk about
- 10:47this. But most people that I've chatted with,
- 10:50even those who are usually pretty tuned in, just
- 10:52seem to not know this is happening. I don't think
- 10:55that this story is being truly hidden, but I
- 10:58do think that this story is not one that people
- 11:01really want to focus on, especially stateside,
- 11:03because it's pretty cut and dry fucked up on
- 11:06our part. Hi, if you like what I do here and
- 11:08you want to support me and help me keep on doing
- 11:10it, I would really appreciate that. You can head
- 11:12to isupport .dev and find links to my Patreon,
- 11:15my Ko -Fi, my merch store, all sorts of stuff,
- 11:18different ways that you can help me out. Thank
- 11:20you so much for being here. Don't forget to like,
- 11:22share this, follow or subscribe, whatever the
- 11:25action is, however you're consuming this. Let's
- 11:29move on. Tic tac! On the clock The European Commission
- 11:36would like a word with tick -tock after having
- 11:37a word with Twitter recently So you might recall
- 11:39that the EU recently slapped a fine on Twitter
- 11:42for doing a bunch of Twitter things Now they're
- 11:44gonna slap a fine on tick -tock for doing tick
- 11:46-tock things. It's back up. Okay, what what's
- 11:48actually going on? Alright, so the EU has this
- 11:51like digital services act that basically is like
- 11:53hey if you're gonna run a social network Don't
- 11:56be awful Unfortunately for Elon Musk, that's
- 11:58not a possibility for him, and the EU has already
- 12:01sent him a warning and then a fine over a bunch
- 12:03of bullshit that he's done. But currently, the
- 12:06EU is warning TikTok that a fine might happen
- 12:08in the future unless something changes. Essentially,
- 12:11they allege that TikTok is designed to be addictive,
- 12:14and they cite the infinite scrolling feed, the
- 12:17notification system, the lack of meaningful screen
- 12:20time management. So basically they said you have
- 12:22to make your app less addictive, especially for
- 12:24vulnerable people like minors, or we're going
- 12:27to fine you up to 6 % of your annual take. It
- 12:30remains to be seen how TikTok is going to respond,
- 12:32but I will say that the letter from the EU includes
- 12:36a few suggested remediations, one of which is
- 12:38to get rid of the infinite scrolling feed. which
- 12:42would essentially end TikTok. To be clear, that's
- 12:45not a requirement. That's a suggestion. But the
- 12:48idea of suggesting that TikTok no longer has
- 12:51the for you page is tantamount to saying they
- 12:54should just delete the app. So we'll see. Lightning
- 12:57round. After having just acquired them in 2021,
- 13:00Sony is shutting down Bluepoint Games, who was
- 13:02known for making a bunch of really high quality
- 13:04remakes recently. That sucks. They're a very
- 13:07talented studio. The US will be removing all
- 13:10remaining troops from Syria after having been
- 13:12there for over a decade. Some guy tried to rush
- 13:15into Trump's Mar -a -Lago resort in Florida.
- 13:18He had a shotgun and a gas canister. He did not
- 13:20make it very far. And finally for today, a guy
- 13:23in Italy seems to have trained his dog to illegally
- 13:26dump trash on the side of the road so that he
- 13:29wouldn't get caught doing it. Now, that's impressive.
- 13:31It's also bad. Don't litter. And also... I feel
- 13:35like that would take more effort than just taking
- 13:37out the trash. Thank you so much for listening
- 13:38to today's episode of Stuff Keeps Happening.
- 13:40Head to skh .news for sources, bonus content,
- 13:44and instructions on how to train your dog to
- 13:46bring trash to that specific location. My name
- 13:49is Endeavorance. We'll talk again soon. Take
- 13:51care, and be well.
