- 0:01Speaker 1: Thank you, Mike Lane. A very rare one nothing shootout
- 0:06Speaker 1: loss for the Crack and on Sunday to wrap up
- 0:08Speaker 1: that road trip. Overall, you get five of eight points,
- 0:10Speaker 1: you have a couple of come from behind victories, a
- 0:13Speaker 1: lot of positives on that four game.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Trek out east.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Just take us through your thoughts on the last eight
- 0:19Speaker 1: days for Seattle and your your breakdown and assessment of
- 0:23Speaker 1: that road trip.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, it didn't start off the way we
- 0:26Speaker 3: wanted to in Detroit, you know, and and I thought
- 0:31Speaker 3: from there we did a good job of regrouping, you know,
- 0:34Speaker 3: coming back with a couple of comeback wins in the
- 0:38Speaker 3: third period, and you know, both Chicago and Pittsburgh, and
- 0:42Speaker 3: then like you said, you know, the the Islander game was.
- 0:47Speaker 2: It was that back to back. It was a short
- 0:50Speaker 2: turnaround for us.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I thought our goaltender played it excellent, deserved the shutout,
- 0:56Speaker 3: got the shout out. You know, they don't take away
- 1:00Speaker 3: a shutout if you get scored on in a shootout.
- 1:03Speaker 3: But certainly I thought, you know, for the most part,
- 1:07Speaker 3: I thought we played pretty good. There's certainly some areas
- 1:10Speaker 3: we can clean up. I thought the Islanders had too
- 1:12Speaker 3: many rush chances.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Honest.
- 1:14Speaker 1: The other night, at the quarter pole of the season,
- 1:16Speaker 1: where Seattle is now tied for second in the division,
- 1:20Speaker 1: what would you make of this team? What's your assessment
- 1:22Speaker 1: of where you guys are based on your expectations coming
- 1:26Speaker 1: into the year and where you see this team moving forward?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Well, for me anyway, personally, expectations are always high.
- 1:34Speaker 2: If you set the bar low, you will go low.
- 1:37Speaker 2: And you know our bar said high right from the
- 1:40Speaker 2: get go.
- 1:42Speaker 3: I've always said there's a way to win every game,
- 1:45Speaker 3: and there is, you know, I think our guys have
- 1:48Speaker 3: done a real good job of being.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Dialed in for the most part.
- 1:52Speaker 3: We've had a couple of I guess what you could
- 1:54Speaker 3: call stinker games, but those happen. You know, you don't
- 1:57Speaker 3: want them to happen, but it's just sometimes there's just
- 2:00Speaker 3: no getting around it. You know, you can probably take
- 2:03Speaker 3: a handful of games over the course of the year
- 2:05Speaker 3: before the season starts and going, man, we're not going
- 2:08Speaker 3: to be very good in about five of them, just
- 2:09Speaker 3: because you know, and it's just the way it is.
- 2:11Speaker 3: It's a long season. So I think we've done a
- 2:14Speaker 3: pretty good job of embracing you know what.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Kind of an end do we want.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And you know, we've done a pretty good job of
- 2:23Speaker 3: being in every game and battling through every game and
- 2:25Speaker 3: understanding the importance of each each second of a game.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And I think that's valuable moving forward for not only
- 2:32Speaker 3: for our team, but also for you know, the young
- 2:35Speaker 3: players and the development of them. You know a lot
- 2:38Speaker 3: of times that's a mentality development as well, and having
- 2:42Speaker 3: to understand and realize how difficult every game and every
- 2:45Speaker 3: second of every game is super important for me from
- 2:47Speaker 3: their standpoint of development. So I think we've made some
- 2:51Speaker 3: decent progress. Again, it's only a quarter point, and you
- 2:55Speaker 3: know the next next month is going to be critical,
- 2:58Speaker 3: and really, you know, December January is going to be
- 3:01Speaker 3: I just think it's going to be.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Tied all the way through.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Defense continues to be one of this team's calling cards.
- 3:06Speaker 1: You look at your last ten games, you've allowed two
- 3:08Speaker 1: or fewer goals, and six you've allowed three or fewer goals,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and eight. We talk a lot about how we can
- 3:14Speaker 1: get more offense going, but do you take any solace
- 3:17Speaker 1: in the fact is it comforting to know that, even
- 3:19Speaker 1: if the offense isn't coming as much as we would like,
- 3:22Speaker 1: we're still second ranked in goals against, and we still
- 3:25Speaker 1: are able to limit a lot of what teams are doing.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Does it give you any any solace in that fact?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Well, this is why we have the record we have,
- 3:32Speaker 3: because we've committed to that area, you know, and eventually,
- 3:37Speaker 3: you know, once once the offense sort of piggybacks off
- 3:41Speaker 3: it a little bit more. I'm not saying it hasn't.
- 3:43Speaker 3: We're our record's pretty good right now. You know, you
- 3:47Speaker 3: can win games to one. We're proving that they'll still
- 3:50Speaker 3: go up in the W column. And you know, again,
- 3:55Speaker 3: there's a lot of benefits to playing those types of
- 3:58Speaker 3: games too, playoff type games. So you know, I think
- 4:02Speaker 3: that we take a lot of solace in the fact
- 4:04Speaker 3: that where we are defensively in the league.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Dallas last night a big eight three win in Edmonton.
- 4:08Speaker 1: They're on the second half of the back to back.
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'm assuming starting on time and getting off to a
- 4:13Speaker 1: good start going to be big for your group here tonight.
- 4:15Speaker 1: But also, what else do you feel Seattle needs to
- 4:18Speaker 1: do here tonight? It was a heartbreaking two to one
- 4:22Speaker 1: loss in their building two weeks ago, whatever it was.
- 4:25Speaker 1: How can the Kraken get some revenge from that and
- 4:28Speaker 1: capitalize on the fact that maybe the Stars team might
- 4:31Speaker 1: be a little bit tired coming off that back to back.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Well, you know what if you look at the minutes
- 4:35Speaker 3: that they played last night, and that's one of the
- 4:38Speaker 3: bonuses I guess of you know, being up five to
- 4:41Speaker 3: nothing or six nothing or whatever it was, and you know,
- 4:44Speaker 3: ending eight three. None of their players got taxed last night.
- 4:49Speaker 3: The minutes were very low for everybody. You know, this
- 4:53Speaker 3: isn't I guess, in my opinion, it is a back
- 4:56Speaker 3: to back for them because they came in and they
- 4:58Speaker 3: got in late, but they weren't taxed by the Edmonton
- 5:00Speaker 3: Oilers last night, you know, in terms of their minutes.
- 5:03Speaker 3: So you know, it's maybe not your quote unquote true
- 5:07Speaker 3: back to back for them. You know, our game plan
- 5:09Speaker 3: doesn't change anyway. We do have to have a good start.
- 5:12Speaker 3: I think we have to have a better start that
- 5:14Speaker 3: we had on you know, on the road, and I
- 5:17Speaker 3: think that, you know, we have to continue with our theme.
- 5:21Speaker 3: They've got some players that can hurt you. They've got
- 5:23Speaker 3: a power play that's number two in the league. It
- 5:25Speaker 3: was three for four last night in Edmonton. Rant in
- 5:28Speaker 3: his back. You know, ice can in you know, they've
- 5:32Speaker 3: got Sagan, They've just got a ton of weapons there. Offensively,
- 5:36Speaker 3: we've got to make sure that we do our best
- 5:38Speaker 3: to shut those guys down and you know, attack offensively
- 5:42Speaker 3: for us. Let's let's play in their zone and you know,
- 5:45Speaker 3: be hard to play against in their zone as well
- 5:48Speaker 3: as being hard to play against in our own zone.
