• 1:40
Speaker 4: first of all, I want to say hope everybody had
• 1:41
Speaker 4: a great weekend. We had a busy weekend at the
• 1:44
Speaker 4: radio ranch. I'll get into that. It's a little bit
• 1:46
Speaker 4: later on if we have time. West Virginia Secretary State
• 1:49
Speaker 4: Chris Warner is going to join us in the second
• 1:50
Speaker 4: segment of the show, already talking about the election next year.
• 1:55
Speaker 4: There is a need, and we have actually have a
• 1:56
Speaker 4: story posted about at at wv metronews dot com. There
• 1:59
Speaker 4: is a constin need for poll workers in the state
• 2:02
Speaker 4: of West Virginia. And again there were some municipal elections
• 2:05
Speaker 4: this year in twenty twenty five, but not much else.
• 2:07
Speaker 4: But next year is going to be a little bit different.
• 2:09
Speaker 4: You're going to find that there are several state Senate
• 2:12
Speaker 4: races available, there will be several mayoral races, and of
• 2:15
Speaker 4: course House of Delegates are on about every couple of years.
• 2:18
Speaker 4: So we're going to talk to Secretary Warner about the
• 2:20
Speaker 4: need for poll workers. If you've ever considered being a
• 2:23
Speaker 4: poll worker'd be a great time to do it. You
• 2:24
Speaker 4: can get a little cash, and it's a long day,
• 2:28
Speaker 4: but it's worth it. So we'll talk to Secretary Warner
• 2:31
Speaker 4: about that. Also, if you're going to be traveling in
• 2:33
Speaker 4: South Charleston, there could be some issues on Jefferson Road.
• 2:37
Speaker 4: Mayor Frank Mullins will join us to talk about that.
• 2:39
Speaker 4: Plus Summerfest kicks off in South Charleston, l this week.
• 2:41
Speaker 4: We'll talk to Mary Mullins about that too, And as always,
• 2:44

• 2:52
Speaker 4: zero zero. I want to tell you about a big
• 2:53
Speaker 4: event happening one week from this Thursday, the twenty first,
• 2:57
Speaker 4: at the Marshall University Bill No Flight School but West
• 2:59
Speaker 4: Virginia International Yanker Airport the annual Paint the Capital City
• 3:03
Speaker 4: Green event. Here to talk about it Robert stone Street
• 3:05
Speaker 4: or the marsh University Quarterback Club, Charleston. Good morning, sir,
• 3:08
Speaker 4: welcome to the show.
• 3:09
Speaker 6: Good morning day, thanks for having me, Thank.
• 3:11
Speaker 4: You for being here. First of all, how many years
• 3:13
Speaker 4: has this event been going on? Do you have any
• 3:14
  Speaker 4: idea of godish.
• 3:14
Speaker 7: It's been over ten years, maybe even fifteen. We've changed locations,
• 3:19
Speaker 7: we've been at the flight school now this is our
• 3:20
Speaker 7: fifth year, which is hard to believe. We started that
• 3:22
Speaker 7: with COVID when remember when we couldn't be inside together.
• 3:25
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's how the whole thing happened. But the flight's right.
• 3:28
Speaker 7: So we got the big hangar up there and decided
• 3:31
Speaker 7: we'd have an outdoor ish event and everybody loved it,
• 3:34
Speaker 7: and we've kept doing it every year since.
• 3:36
Speaker 4: And I will tell you that if you've never had
• 3:38
Speaker 4: an opportunity to go up to the Bill and no
• 3:39
Speaker 4: Flight School up at Yager, yeah, it's absolutely fantastic. And
• 3:43
Speaker 4: this has actually turned out to be a great venue
• 3:47
Speaker 4: for this, and so if you have, I'll go ahead
• 3:49
Speaker 4: and tell you now, if you're heading up for the event,
• 3:51
Speaker 4: you'll see the signs pointing you in the right direction.
• 3:53
Speaker 4: You'll walk in through a main area and then you
• 3:56
Speaker 4: walk kind of across the way at the tarmac a
• 3:59
Speaker 4: little bit and they'll point to everybody in the right direction.
• 4:02
Speaker 4: And as you said, Robert, it turns out to be
• 4:04
Speaker 4: sort of an indoor outdoor event because it's actually in
• 4:06
Speaker 4: the hangar there at the at the Bill and No
• 4:09
Speaker 4: Flight School, so you've got that open air thing. We
• 4:11
Speaker 4: got fans going, but it's it's a great event. Plus
• 4:15
Speaker 4: it shows off the bill No Flight School because they
• 4:18
Speaker 4: always have their planes and whatnot there, so it's kind
• 4:20
Speaker 4: of a win win for them and for those that
• 4:23
Speaker 4: don't know this, this Bill No Flight School through Marshall
• 4:26
Speaker 4: University up at the airport. This's a fantastic thing.
• 4:28
  Speaker 6: It is.
• 4:29
  Speaker 7: It's great venue, it's a great event. We're expecting north
• 4:33
Speaker 7: of three point fifty maybe four hundred folks this year.
• 4:36
Speaker 7: A lot of great sponsors. Shout out to Steve Ellis
• 4:39
Speaker 7: and Elko Mechanical, longtime supporter WVRC Media for having us
• 4:44
Speaker 7: We appreciate you guys, and we've got a lot of
• 4:47
Speaker 7: other sponsors. Paul Smith with ten ten Bridge is going
• 4:51
Speaker 7: to be catering Chef Paul. Yes, so if for no
• 4:55
Speaker 7: other reason you should come for that.
• 4:57
Speaker 4: Now, where do people get tickets? Because here's the same
• 4:59
  Speaker 4: the reason I I throw this out now, there's a
• 5:01
Speaker 4: reason we have you on. It's not till next Thursday,
• 5:04
Speaker 4: one week from this Thursday. But the reason we're throwing
• 5:06
Speaker 4: it out there now is because their tickets are going
• 5:09
Speaker 4: quickly and they are getting scarce.
• 5:10
  Speaker 6: They are.
• 5:11
Speaker 7: We've got over thirty table sponsors so far. You can
• 5:15
Speaker 7: get tickets at the Marshall Biggreen dot org website. Individual
• 5:19
Speaker 7: tickets are only fifty dollars for adults. That includes all
• 5:23
Speaker 7: the Chef Paul food you can eat and beer you
• 5:25
Speaker 7: can drink during the advantage.
• 5:26
Speaker 4: You look at me when you said that all the food.
• 5:28
Speaker 7: But anyway, and kids under fourteen are only twenty five dollars.
• 5:32
Speaker 7: They don't drink as much beer, so we well a
• 5:34
  Speaker 7: little cheaper there.
• 5:36
Speaker 4: Hopefully they don't, right, Yeah, So what is the whole
• 5:39
Speaker 4: idea behind this? I mean, it's obviously it's getting you know,
• 5:42
Speaker 4: it's that time of year. Everybody's excited in Huntings and
• 5:45
Speaker 4: everybody's excited in Morgantown and every other city around the
• 5:49
Speaker 4: nation right now gearing up for college football. But what's
• 5:51
Speaker 4: the whole idea up behind this thing.
• 5:53
Speaker 7: Well, this is the kickoff for fall sports for Marshall University. Obviously,
• 5:57
Speaker 7: football season is a big, big deal. We've got a
• 6:00
Speaker 7: head football coach, Tony Gibson new ad Gerald Harrison. But
• 6:04
Speaker 7: it's also we have some other fall sports folks there.
• 6:08
Speaker 7: We've got Corney Jackson, the men's basketball coach, will be there,
• 6:11
Speaker 7: Julie Fulkes for the women's coach, and then some Olympic
• 6:14
Speaker 7: team coaches will be there as well, and Steve Cott
• 6:17
Speaker 7: and the Voice of the Herd will do a sort
• 6:19
Speaker 7: of an interview panel with these coaches and they'll talk
• 6:22
Speaker 7: about their teams and what they're expecting and it just
• 6:25
Speaker 7: it's a good tailgate atmosphere and get everybody excited for
• 6:30
Speaker 7: for football and other fall sports.
• 6:32
Speaker 4: Yeah, exact, we're talking to Robert soon Street from the
• 6:35
Speaker 4: Marshall University Quarterback Club. The Charlestow Dave Island Show on
• 6:38
Speaker 4: five eighty Live is broad to you part by your
• 6:40
Speaker 4: hometown baseball team of the Charleston Dirty Birds. Off night
• 6:42
Speaker 4: tonight for the Birds, they have a home stand starting
• 6:45
Speaker 4: tomorrow night at Gilmartin Paul Park against High Point. Tickets,
• 6:47
Speaker 4: promotion schedule, Dirty Birds merchandise, with more. This is the
• 6:50
Speaker 4: dirty Birds Baseball dot Com. Now, Robert, you mentioned that
• 6:52
Speaker 4: coach the basketball coach, Corney Jackson is going to be there.
• 6:55
Speaker 4: Coach Gibson is also, yes' going to be this and
• 6:57
Speaker 4: we'll be there and there is here's the thing there,
• 6:59
Speaker 4: there's a lot of excitement about football season this year
• 7:02
Speaker 4: in West Virginia. Again, we all know about coach Rod
• 7:04
Speaker 4: in Morgantown, but also in Huntington. And I love the
• 7:08
Speaker 4: fact that we have our basketball coach who is from
• 7:11
Speaker 4: Oak Hill and the fact that we have our football
• 7:14
Speaker 4: coach who is from van in boone County two West Virginia.
• 7:18
Speaker 4: People coaching the two leading teams at Marsh University.
• 7:23
Speaker 6: Yes, it's very exciting.
• 7:24
Speaker 7: We're very lucky to have both of those guys there.
• 7:29
Speaker 7: And there's a lot to look forward to, a lot
• 7:31
Speaker 7: of new things. I mean, as mentioned new ad, we've
• 7:33
Speaker 7: got fifty some new players.
• 7:35
Speaker 4: I think we got more than that.
• 7:37
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's a brand new team.
• 7:39
Speaker 4: There's been twenty new players since we were sitting here.
• 7:42
Speaker 4: That's the landscape of college athletics right now, Robert sadly.
• 7:45
Speaker 4: But it keeps it exciting. And again, anytime there's a
• 7:49
Speaker 4: new coach in town, there's always you know, a bit
• 7:53
Speaker 4: of a bit of excitement about that. And we have
• 7:55
Speaker 4: a new ad too, And I'll tell you, mister Harrison
• 7:58
Speaker 4: the new ad. I mean that press conference he had
• 8:01
Speaker 4: me ready to run through a wall. I mean, this
• 8:03
Speaker 4: guy is a fiery guy and I've never met him.
• 8:06
Speaker 4: I'm looking forward to meeting him.
• 8:07
Speaker 7: Yes, Yeah, we had a lot of exciting things going on.
• 8:10
Speaker 7: I also want to note, even if you're not a
• 8:13
Speaker 7: football fan, we do have an opportunity to go see
• 8:16
Speaker 7: Zach Bryan. So if you're a Zach Bryan fan, we're
• 8:19
Speaker 7: going to have two sweet tickets at the Jones Stadium
• 8:21
Speaker 7: that's going on for a live auction during the.
• 8:24
Speaker 4: He's an up and coming country singer. He's about the
• 8:26
Speaker 4: hottest thing going right now in country music, and he's
• 8:28
Speaker 4: going to be playing a concert at the Jone Jonesy
• 8:31
Speaker 4: Edwards Stadium in Huntington on August thirtieth.
• 8:34
Speaker 7: So if you're not going to Georgia for the opening
• 8:36
Speaker 7: Marshall away game, and you want to see Zach Brian
• 8:39
Speaker 7: in Huntington. You've got a chance to get two sweet
• 8:42
Speaker 7: tickets at a live auction, so.
• 8:45
  Speaker 6: Come for that.
• 8:46
Speaker 4: Yeah, and a lot of other great things are always
• 8:48
Speaker 4: available doing the auctions as well.
• 8:50
Speaker 7: We've got a trip with the team to the Coastal
• 8:53
Speaker 7: Carolina game on August thirtieth, so you would fly down
• 8:55
Speaker 7: on the team plane, have meals with the team while
• 8:58
Speaker 7: you're there, have a VIP experiences at the stadium, and
• 9:01
Speaker 7: then fly back with the team after the game.
• 9:03
Speaker 4: It's all good stuff. Again. Robert stone Tree for the
• 9:05
Speaker 4: marsh University Quarterback Club at Charleston, and again it's it's
• 9:08
Speaker 4: just something and it was sad that we had to
• 9:13
Speaker 4: move it there because of COVID, But at the same time,
• 9:15
Speaker 4: I don't think we're going to be leaving anytime soon
• 9:17
Speaker 4: because that is just such a great atmosphere for an
• 9:21
  Speaker 4: event like this.
• 9:22
Speaker 7: It is great and it's outside and some people think, hey,
• 9:25
Speaker 7: you know, August outside, but it's in the evening and
• 9:28
Speaker 7: and it all the years we've had it there, it's
• 9:31
  Speaker 7: really been Coach.
• 9:32
Speaker 4: Giant fans going and we have the doors open up
• 9:34
Speaker 4: there and everything, and plus, I mean, these are opportunities.
• 9:38
Speaker 4: You don't get a whole lot of opportunities where you
• 9:40
Speaker 4: can just hang out and talk to coach Tony Gibson
• 9:44
Speaker 4: and talk to coach Corny Jackson and all the other coaches.
• 9:46
Speaker 4: And there's Marshall officials. We mentioned, the new ad is
• 9:49
Speaker 4: going to be there normally, the cheerleaders are there, they
• 9:53
Speaker 4: will be there. The marsh University cheerleaders will be there.
• 9:55
Speaker 4: We have other other folks within the organization there and
• 9:58
Speaker 4: again the whole idea behind this is raise money for
• 10:00
  Speaker 4: the Big Green.
• 10:01
Speaker 7: Right, President Smith has anticipated to be there. He's always
• 10:04
Speaker 7: a great person to listen to. And yeah, we'll be
• 10:08
Speaker 7: raising money for the Big Green, particularly the football program
• 10:10
Speaker 7: because we are the Quarterback Club.
• 10:11
Speaker 4: Of Charleston And just got confirmation this morning the Charleston
• 10:16
Speaker 4: Mary Amy Shuiler good One is going to be giving
• 10:17
Speaker 4: the opening address there that night. And of course she
• 10:20
Speaker 4: she has dual citizenship, as she frequently says, because she's
• 10:23
Speaker 4: a WVU person, but she I think she's got one
• 10:25
Speaker 4: kid in Morgantown and one kid in Huntington, so so
• 10:29
Speaker 4: she'll be a big part of as well. And I'm
• 10:31
Speaker 4: gonna be serving as the MC and I always look
• 10:33
Speaker 4: forward to that. Normally it's Steve Animal and myself, but
• 10:37
Speaker 4: we announced it last week. On the first and third
• 10:40
Speaker 4: Thursdays of every month, we do a live event at
• 10:43
Speaker 4: five Street Brewering so on Summer Street. So that's gonna
• 10:46
Speaker 4: take mister Animal away. So you're gonna be stuck with
• 10:48
Speaker 4: me serving as your MC, myself and Steve Cotton.
• 10:51
Speaker 7: Yes, well, I'm sure you will do a fine job,
• 10:55
Speaker 7: you and mister Cotton.
• 10:56
Speaker 4: It'll be highly adequate. I'll say that, we'll look forward
• 10:59
Speaker 4: to it. And the food, man, I mean, it's just
• 11:01
Speaker 4: classic chef Paul Tailgate food, the wings, the dips, all
• 11:06
Speaker 4: the stuff and plenty of things to keep you hydrated
• 11:09
Speaker 4: to It's going to be a great, great night as
• 11:12
Speaker 4: we get ready to paint the Capital city green. This
• 11:15
Speaker 4: is in the Quarterback Club of Charleston has a couple
• 11:17
Speaker 4: of big events every year. We do something, usually around
• 11:19
Speaker 4: Valentine's Day. This year we did a spring like a
• 11:23
Speaker 4: beach party. A beach party over to Embassy Suiteset was
• 11:26
Speaker 4: a lot of fun. But this is this is the
• 11:28
Speaker 4: big event and it draws in Marshall fans from not
• 11:32
Speaker 4: only the Kanaw Valley, but people in Huntingson make the trip,
• 11:35
Speaker 4: people from Boone County and Mason and Jackson, they're all
• 11:39
Speaker 4: there as well. It is always a great, great turnout
• 11:41
Speaker 4: for this event. And I don't know what a sell
• 11:43
Speaker 4: out is, but it comes pretty close.
• 11:45
Speaker 7: It's getting close. I think we can get about four
• 11:47
Speaker 7: hundred in there. That's forty tables and we're approaching that.
• 11:50
Speaker 7: So if you want to come, go to Marshall Biggreen
• 11:52
Speaker 7: dot or org under the events tab and get your ticket.
• 11:55
Speaker 7: Individual tickets again, only fifty dollars or table sponsorships are
• 11:59
Speaker 7: available starting at teve hundred dollars for ten seats.
• 12:01
Speaker 4: All right, Robert, appreciate you being here and looking forward
• 12:04
Speaker 4: to it. It's going to be next Thursday, and information
• 12:07
Speaker 4: is available all over social media and as you said,
• 12:09
Speaker 4: you can go to the website as well. We want
• 12:11
Speaker 4: to see everybody there Thursday the twenty first. We'll start

Speaker 4: to the Show Now, West Virginia Secretary of State Chris Warner,
• 15:22
  Speaker 4: Good morning, sir.
• 15:25
Speaker 8: Dave. I'm blessed to be calling in from Webster Springs
• 15:28
Speaker 8: this morning. We're hitting our fifty fifth County courthouse to
• 15:32
Speaker 8: meet with county clerks and their staffs.
• 15:35
Speaker 4: Well, while you're there in Webster Springs, you'll have to
• 15:38
Speaker 4: make it a point to stop my custard hot dog
• 15:41
Speaker 4: stand while you're there. It's like their headquarters there. You
• 15:43
Speaker 4: know that, right of course you knew that.
• 15:45
Speaker 8: You know. And I got Lea Dean with me, so
• 15:48
Speaker 8: you know we can't pass the hot boy.
• 15:52
Speaker 4: Never met a hot dog you didn't like, I'll tell
• 15:53
Speaker 4: you that. And that's that's the pot called on the
• 15:56
Speaker 4: kettle black, I'll tell you that right there. Thing the
• 15:58
Speaker 4: thing I remember about about going to Webster Springs in
• 16:01
Speaker 4: that courthouse, it was quite a haul up those steps,
• 16:05
Speaker 4: you know, for somebody that carries a little bit too
• 16:07
Speaker 4: much around their midsection, like I do. I would get
• 16:10
Speaker 4: to the top of the courthouse steps there and be
• 16:14
Speaker 4: out of breath before somebody told me, you know, you
• 16:17
Speaker 4: can just go around the back.
• 16:19
Speaker 8: Hey, Dave, I resemble that remark, so I know exactly
• 16:23
Speaker 8: what you're talking about. I'm looking at him right now.
• 16:26
Speaker 4: But yeah, they I had been going there, you know,
• 16:29
Speaker 4: when I worked in state government for like several months before,
• 16:32
Speaker 4: somebody said, you know, there's a back entrance, right because
• 16:34
Speaker 4: I was walking in the office all like out of
• 16:36
Speaker 4: breath and stuff. They think, yeah, there's a back entrance.
• 16:38
Speaker 4: So just note that for the record. All right, So
• 16:41
Speaker 4: Secretary Tomorrow's National poll Worker Recruitment Day and there is
• 16:45
Speaker 4: a move on to line up poll workers for the
• 16:46
Speaker 4: upcoming elections next year. It's it's been kind of quiet
• 16:51
Speaker 4: this year. I mean, as far as most people are concerned.
• 16:54
Speaker 4: I know that in the quote unquote off years, and
• 16:57
Speaker 4: with the Secretary of State's office, there's no such thing
• 16:59
Speaker 4: as an off year. But there's a lot of municipal
• 17:01
Speaker 4: elections this year, but those are starting to get those
• 17:05
Speaker 4: in a review mirror right now. But twenty twenty six
• 17:07
Speaker 4: is going to be a big election year with various
• 17:08
Speaker 4: seats up. I mentioned earlier there's some state Senate seats
• 17:11
Speaker 4: up next year. Also, the House has to run every
• 17:14
Speaker 4: a couple of years, so it'll be a busy time.
• 17:16
Speaker 4: Why should somebody want to be a poll worker?
• 17:20
Speaker 8: Well, I tell you what, there's no better way to
• 17:24
Speaker 8: be civically engaged. It's a great way to see folks
• 17:29
Speaker 8: in the community. And it's very important for voters when
• 17:33
Speaker 8: they're coming through the door to see someone that they
• 17:36
Speaker 8: recognize from the community and being a poll worker. And
• 17:41
Speaker 8: I've found it to be very rewarding, and we have
• 17:45
Speaker 8: people that like to come back and work year after year.
• 17:49
Speaker 8: But at the same time, we need to get the
• 17:53
Speaker 8: younger generation ready to go and to take over the
• 17:58
Speaker 8: poll working. It's just to part of our constitutional republic
• 18:02
Speaker 8: and we can't let it slide.
• 18:05
Speaker 4: And does it seem to me or maybe your office,
• 18:08
Speaker 4: that it's been a little bit harder to find poll
• 18:11
Speaker 4: workers over the last couple of years, and look a
• 18:13
Speaker 4: lot of it. If that is the case, I'll let
• 18:15
Speaker 4: you answer it. But a lot of that has to
• 18:16
Speaker 4: do with, as you said, a lot of the poll
• 18:18
Speaker 4: workers are getting older. They got a little bit of
• 18:20
Speaker 4: age on them, and some of them would like to say, well,
• 18:22
Speaker 4: I've done this for thirty forty years. Maybe it's time
• 18:25
Speaker 4: for younger people to get involved. But it's very important
• 18:28
Speaker 4: to get the younger people involved to want to be
• 18:30
  Speaker 4: pole workers.
• 18:30
Speaker 8: Secretary right, I got a first of all brag on
• 18:34
Speaker 8: Putnam County and Conall County and Barber County. They say
• 18:39
Speaker 8: they do not need help with poll workers. They got
• 18:42
Speaker 8: all the poll workers that they can use, but the
• 18:47
Speaker 8: other you know, fifty three counties, fifty two counties can
• 18:53
Speaker 8: use the help. And you know, again, younger people can
• 18:58
Speaker 8: help move ballot boxes around, voting machines around, moving boxes
• 19:03
Speaker 8: that some of the elderly folks can't. But the elderly
• 19:06
Speaker 8: folks need to be there as well to coach the
• 19:09
Speaker 8: younger generation along and let them know how they run
• 19:14
Speaker 8: their election in that county.
• 19:16
Speaker 4: Talk about the pay a poll worker gets, sir.
• 19:20
Speaker 8: You know, our pay ranges in each county from anywhere
• 19:23
Speaker 8: from one hundred and fifty dollars on the low end
• 19:26
Speaker 8: up to three hundred dollars. And I'm glad you brought
• 19:30
Speaker 8: that up because it's you know, there's a two hour
• 19:33
Speaker 8: training that is included. You get paid for the two
• 19:37
Speaker 8: hour training and then working a very long day. I
• 19:40
Speaker 8: don't want to mislead anyone. It's a long, hard day
• 19:44
Speaker 8: to be a poll worker. But one of the things
• 19:47
Speaker 8: we're going to try to do in the next legislative
• 19:49
Speaker 8: session is at least introduce the idea of equalizing pay
• 19:53
Speaker 8: worker pay across the entire state. You know, whether you're
• 19:57
Speaker 8: working in Clay County or in Berkeley County, your work
• 20:00
Speaker 8: in the same long day and deserve the same pay.
• 20:03
Speaker 8: So that's one of the things we're going to introduce
• 20:06
Speaker 8: to the legislature and see if we can reimburse the
• 20:10
Speaker 8: counties because it's more than just county races on the ballot.
• 20:14
Speaker 8: There's state races on the ballot, federal races as well,
• 20:19
Speaker 8: and we're going to try to see if we can
• 20:21
Speaker 8: equalize pay worker pay across the state.
• 20:24
Speaker 4: And it is a long day because polls open in
• 20:26
Speaker 4: West Virginia six thirty AM, the close at seven thirty pm.
• 20:30
Speaker 4: Most poll workers need to be on the premises by
• 20:32
Speaker 4: about five point thirty in the morning. One of the
• 20:35
Speaker 4: great things though about the modern election system, so as
• 20:38
Speaker 4: opposed to what it used to be, is generally speaking,
• 20:41
Speaker 4: and there are going to be exceptions here and there,
• 20:43
Speaker 4: but generally speaking, in West Virginia's fifty five counties, polls
• 20:46
Speaker 4: close at seven thirty With these modern voting machines, I mean,
• 20:50
Speaker 4: it tabulates, and it's not like the old days. It's
• 20:52
Speaker 4: tabulated quickly and usually poll workers are in most cases
• 20:56
Speaker 4: on their roads and back to their beds in like
• 20:58
Speaker 4: an hour or so after the polls close.
• 21:01
Speaker 8: You're correct, but there's also an executive order out that,
• 21:05
Speaker 8: uh you may interfere with.
• 21:07
  Speaker 3: That, Dave.
• 21:09
Speaker 8: And so we are planning in West Virginia. Quite frankly,
• 21:12
  Speaker 8: we have a Plan B and a Plan C based
• 21:15
Speaker 8: on whether we're going to be able to use the
• 21:18
Speaker 8: machines that we have used in the past. So we're
• 21:22
Speaker 8: we're hopeful that that's going to be the case. But
• 21:24
Speaker 8: we're unpacking that uh presidential executive order right now and
• 21:30
Speaker 8: uh and working. We're just in a national conference in
• 21:33
Speaker 8: Mississippi and uh, we're we're trying to get caught up
• 21:37
Speaker 8: to date on that and we're going to have to see,
• 21:39
Speaker 8: uh you know, how the court system looks at the
• 21:42
Speaker 8: executive order as well.
• 21:44
Speaker 4: Can you are you, I mean, are you in a
• 21:45
Speaker 4: position to elaborate on what you're referring to, sir?
• 21:49
Speaker 8: Well, there there may uh you know, there may not
• 21:52
Speaker 8: may not be able to use the machines that we
• 21:56
Speaker 8: have used in the past, and may not be able
• 21:59
Speaker 8: to use the scans that read the paper ballots that
• 22:02
Speaker 8: are printed out from what I call the marking machines.
• 22:06
Speaker 8: Must will refer to those as voting machines. So we're
• 22:11
Speaker 8: coming up with a plan that if we have to
• 22:12
Speaker 8: print you know, there, I think it's nine hundred different
• 22:17
Speaker 8: ballot styles in West Virginia because of all the different
• 22:20
Speaker 8: races and all the different counties and senatorial districts and
• 22:24
Speaker 8: the rest. But we've got to be ready to print
• 22:28
Speaker 8: all those ballots if they have to be hand marked,
• 22:32
Speaker 8: and if you depend on how you read the executive order,
• 22:36
Speaker 8: that may be the case, or we might not be
• 22:38
Speaker 8: able to use the electronic scanners to count the ballots
• 22:42
Speaker 8: for the unofficial results on election night. Again, we hope
• 22:47
Speaker 8: we're able to use the machines and the poll workers
• 22:51
Speaker 8: will be able to continue to run the elections the
• 22:55
Speaker 8: way that they've been running the past here in West
• 22:58
Speaker 8: Virginia in recent hit history, but we have to plan
• 23:02
Speaker 8: if that's not the case.
• 23:04
Speaker 4: Talking to Westervirginia Secretary of State Chris Warner. All right,
• 23:07
Speaker 4: so let's get back to the training. What kind of
• 23:08
Speaker 4: training does a poll worker need and how many workers
• 23:11
Speaker 4: are needed per precinct?
• 23:14
Speaker 8: Yep, So there's there are five workers in a general election.
• 23:18
Speaker 8: Typically that is two Republicans, two Democrats, and then the
• 23:24
Speaker 8: fifth can be a non affiliated worker, but that's decided
• 23:28
Speaker 8: by the county clerk. It is by law. It's the
• 23:31
Speaker 8: responsibility of each of the county executive committees to turn
• 23:36
Speaker 8: in the names of the poll workers that will represent
• 23:40
Speaker 8: that party at the polling place, and then the county
• 23:43
Speaker 8: clerk assembles those and makes the final determination. There is
• 23:48
Speaker 8: also an alternate list, and so that's the number of
• 23:52
Speaker 8: poll workers. But we have a two hour training session.
• 23:58
Speaker 8: Some counties run multiple training sessions. Smaller counties will run
• 24:03
Speaker 8: one training session, but it's it's pretty straightforward and a
• 24:08
Speaker 8: two hour training session and then you're ready to work
• 24:11
Speaker 8: in the polls on election day.
• 24:12
Speaker 4: One of the questions that you frequently get, Secretary is
• 24:16
Speaker 4: people will say, okay, and I'll just use my home
• 24:19
Speaker 4: base as an example. I live in Putnam County. My
• 24:23
Speaker 4: my polling place is Mountain View Elementary School. People will say, well,
• 24:27
Speaker 4: if I'm a poll worker, do you put me at
• 24:30
Speaker 4: my polling place here?
• 24:32
Speaker 8: To address that, yeah, that that is decided by the
• 24:39
Speaker 8: county Executive committee and the county chairman for each of
• 24:42
Speaker 8: the parties. They turned that information in to the county clerk,
• 24:48
Speaker 8: and ultimately the county clerk you know, certifies that that
• 24:53
Speaker 8: list to make sure that they have everyone necessary. So
• 24:56
Speaker 8: the county clerks are the ones that are running the election.
• 25:00
Speaker 8: In each of their accounties, were there to help assist,
• 25:03
Speaker 8: for example, with the training material and what's needed to
• 25:08
  Speaker 8: operate on election.
• 25:09
Speaker 4: Day, and who's eligible to be a poll worker.
• 25:13
Speaker 8: As long as you're a registered voter by the general election,
• 25:17
Speaker 8: you can sign up and be a poll worker. Just
• 25:20
Speaker 8: as long as you're a registered West Virginia voter, you
• 25:23
Speaker 8: can work on our polls.
• 25:25
Speaker 4: And look, you know when we talked about the need
• 25:27
Speaker 4: for getting younger people involved in this and the rate
• 25:31
Speaker 4: of pay, as you said, can go up to three
• 25:33
Speaker 4: hundred and some dollars. I mean it's a long day,
• 25:36
Speaker 4: don't get me wrong, but it ain't like I used
• 25:39
Speaker 4: to tell people segregated. It ain't like you're digging ditches,
• 25:41
Speaker 4: you know. I mean, I mean you're in the primarily
• 25:44
Speaker 4: and air conditioned facility. It is a long day. But
• 25:47
Speaker 4: for a young person to be able to set behind
• 25:50
Speaker 4: a desk, and again I'm not trying to diminish the
• 25:53
Speaker 4: work that poll workers do, but I mean you're setting
• 25:55
Speaker 4: behind a desk. It's a long day. But to be
• 25:57
Speaker 4: able to walk out of there with in some cases
• 25:59
Speaker 4: three hundred dollars paycheck. I mean, that's that's not bad,
• 26:02
Speaker 4: that's not bad work.
• 26:03
Speaker 8: Yeah. But David, again I'm making light of this, but
• 26:07
Speaker 8: you know you got to remain awake the full period
• 26:10
Speaker 8: of and you can't use your phone.
• 26:13
  Speaker 11: No.
• 26:13
Speaker 8: Yeah, So if they can't check their phone every fifteen minutes,
• 26:17
Speaker 8: that you know it's going to take somebody that is
• 26:20
  Speaker 8: ready to work.
• 26:20
Speaker 4: Yeah, you're exactly right. Where can people learn more information?
• 26:24
Speaker 4: If they're listening to this and they say, you know,
• 26:26
Speaker 4: i'd like to be a poll worker, what's the best
• 26:29
Speaker 4: the best plan of action, your securty? What do they
• 26:31
  Speaker 4: need to do?
• 26:32
Speaker 8: The best plan of action is go on the internet
• 26:36
Speaker 8: to go vote WV dot com. Again, go vote WV
• 26:42
Speaker 8: dot com and you can register there to be a
• 26:46
Speaker 8: poll worker in any one of our fifty five counties.
• 26:50
Speaker 8: The other option is to contact your county chairman or
• 26:54
Speaker 8: county clerk in your home county. But the best way
• 26:59
Speaker 8: is go vot WB dot com.
• 27:01
Speaker 4: All right, Secretary of State, Chris One, are always a pleasure, sir.
• 27:04
Speaker 4: Enjoy Webster Springs today and find out about how that
• 27:09
Speaker 4: where that back entry is to the courthouse that it
• 27:10
Speaker 4: took me about a year to find. I appreciate it, sir,
• 27:13
  Speaker 4: thanks a lot.
• 27:14
Speaker 8: Hey, thanks Dave Siah.
• 27:15
Speaker 4: Secretary of State Chris one Er, twenty six minutes away
• 27:17
Speaker 4: from ten. I can tell you again, as I've been
• 27:20
Speaker 4: honest with people, that I'm a former employee of the
• 27:22
Speaker 4: Secretary of State's office and I did the kind of
• 27:24
Speaker 4: work that what I wasn't Secretary Bunny stretch of the imagination,
• 27:27
Speaker 4: but I did work in that office, and I could
• 27:30
Speaker 4: tell you that the biggest problems that were the two
• 27:33
Speaker 4: biggest problems listeners have heard me say this before that
• 27:36
Speaker 4: we had and on an election day we were in
• 27:39
Speaker 4: all fifty five counties. We would go out just to
• 27:41
Speaker 4: make sure everything was going okay, and you know, ninety
• 27:44
Speaker 4: nine point nine percent of the time it was biggest
• 27:47
Speaker 4: problems we had was we had to tell people you
• 27:49
  Speaker 4: can't have your cell phones. Doesn't mean if you're a
• 27:51
Speaker 4: poll worker that you have to totally leave it in
• 27:53
Speaker 4: the car, you know, between six thirty am and seven
• 27:56
Speaker 4: thirty pm. But nothing, nothing goes further to a road.
• 28:00
Speaker 4: Trust when you walk into a polling place and you
• 28:02
Speaker 4: see someone on their phone, because automatically you're thinking, well,
• 28:06
Speaker 4: what are they doing on their phone. So that's one
• 28:09
Speaker 4: of the big things. You got it, you just can't
• 28:10
Speaker 4: stay glued to You can have it, you just can't
• 28:13
Speaker 4: stay glued to it all the time. The second thing
• 28:16
Speaker 4: that we had was there were a lot of people
• 28:19
Speaker 4: that in this era we have to document everything. There
• 28:22
Speaker 4: were people that wanted to go inside the polling place
• 28:24
Speaker 4: and take a picture of themselves voting. Cell phones are
• 28:27
Speaker 4: not allowed inside the voting booth period, and we had
• 28:32
Speaker 4: people that would go in, you know, young people as
• 28:34
Speaker 4: their first time and they're very proud of the fact
• 28:36
Speaker 4: that they're voting for the first time. That's great. You
• 28:39
Speaker 4: can't do a selfie inside there, and you certainly cannot
• 28:41
Speaker 4: take a picture of who you voted for and posted.
• 28:44
Speaker 4: That's illegal. That's one aspect of it. The other aspect
• 28:47
Speaker 4: of it is you cannot walk into a polling place
• 28:50
  Speaker 4: with a T shirt, a jacket, a hat that says
• 28:52

• 28:57
Speaker 4: That's considered electioneering. So just just a reminder that when
• 29:01
Speaker 4: you head to the polls next year, keep those things
• 29:04
Speaker 4: in mind. You cannot walk into a polling place within
• 29:08

• 29:10

• 29:15
Speaker 4: Doesn't mean you have to, you know, take your shirt
• 29:17
Speaker 4: off because we don't need to see that, but if
• 29:19
Speaker 4: you can at least cover it, turn it inside out
• 29:21
Speaker 4: or what that seemed to be the biggest problems that
• 29:23
Speaker 4: we that we encountered when I was a member of

• 33:21
Speaker 14: Good morning day, Thanks for having me.
• 33:23
Speaker 4: Thank you for being So what's going on on Jefferson Road.
• 33:25
Speaker 14: Sir, Well, it's my today. What they did was they
• 33:30
Speaker 14: close the southbound lane. So basically, if you're going if
• 33:34
Speaker 14: you're coming from Route sixty to go south across the
• 33:36
Speaker 14: bridge out to a quarter of g that lane's going
• 33:39
Speaker 14: to be closed for a few days while they resurface
• 33:41
Speaker 14: and redo the trap. The two new lanes to be
• 33:45
Speaker 14: open next week, so it's an inconvenience this week. It'll
• 33:48
Speaker 14: be a great thing at the end of the week
• 33:49
Speaker 14: because we're going to open up some more lanes. And
• 33:51
Speaker 14: anytime they can open up more lanes, that's a good
• 33:52
Speaker 14: thing for our traffic flow.
• 33:54
Speaker 4: It is, and indeed it is. So you would just
• 33:57
Speaker 4: tell motorists that go through that area, residents, folks doing business,
• 34:00
Speaker 4: just to I guess, pack your patients with you.
• 34:01
Speaker 14: Is that what you're saying, Yeah, pack your patient. It's
• 34:04
Speaker 14: just a section between the railroad tracks in Jefferson Road
• 34:08
Speaker 14: what we're used to, but it's where you go across
• 34:09
Speaker 14: the bridge to go down to the Cordy, so you
• 34:11
Speaker 14: can still go. It's out on Jefferson Road to the corridor.
• 34:14
Speaker 14: You just have to get on the other side of
• 34:16
Speaker 14: the tracks first, so you'll be decorded around Montrose to
• 34:18
  Speaker 14: do that.
• 34:19
Speaker 4: And you're sure. I have plenty of signage up so
• 34:21
Speaker 4: you won't catch anybody by surprise, right, Yeah.
• 34:24
Speaker 14: Well there's some signage out there. I actually just drove
• 34:27
Speaker 14: it this morning myself to make sure I did it
• 34:28
Speaker 14: and understood it. So if people call me, I I
• 34:30
Speaker 14: can answer questions. And there are some detour signs there
• 34:34
Speaker 14: taking you to taking you to Montrose, just kind of
• 34:37
Speaker 14: you know, pay attention and look for.
• 34:39
Speaker 4: Them, and do you tell people when they call you
• 34:41
Speaker 4: mayor look, I just did it. If I can do it,
• 34:43
Speaker 4: anybody can. Is that what you're telling them?
• 34:46
Speaker 14: That's right? If I just did it, anybody.
• 34:48
Speaker 4: Anybody should be able to How are things been going
• 34:52
Speaker 4: out there since all this because I had you on
• 34:54
Speaker 4: a couple of weeks ago, and I know there's been
• 34:56
Speaker 4: various changes out there. How are things going over on?
• 35:00
Speaker 14: I think it's going okay. I mean, you always have
• 35:01
Speaker 14: you always have some things you need to adjust to.
• 35:03
Speaker 14: But at the end of the day, I think it's
• 35:04
Speaker 14: going well. The roundabout has been really well received. I know,
• 35:07
Speaker 14: mostly what you see on social media or the mishapps,
• 35:10
Speaker 14: but actually overall it's been very well received and it's
• 35:13
Speaker 14: helped the traffic flow. No more rail traffic to deal
• 35:15
Speaker 14: with because they fly over. So I think it's going
• 35:18
  Speaker 14: really well.
• 35:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, we're talking with South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins. I
• 35:21
Speaker 4: know this past Saturday you had a big event there
• 35:24
Speaker 4: at the South Charleston Farmers Market. I presume everything went
• 35:27
  Speaker 4: well there.
• 35:29
Speaker 14: Yeah, I went there. I went there too on Saturday. Good,
• 35:31
Speaker 14: good crowd, good event. Uh celebrating I think it's National
• 35:35
Speaker 14: Farmers Week. We were celebrating, so we had a lot
• 35:37
Speaker 14: of things there for folks to do and it went
• 35:39
Speaker 14: really well. Farmers Market is doing great.
• 35:41
Speaker 4: It's a fantastic facility. I mean it really really is
• 35:44
Speaker 4: if you haven't had an opportunity to check it out.
• 35:45
Speaker 4: We had Sean Zuaniga on the show last week talking
• 35:49
Speaker 4: about it. I mean, my wife and I've been there
• 35:51
Speaker 4: several times. It is really really a gym there in
• 35:53
Speaker 4: South Charleston, and really for the entire Kanaw Valley.
• 35:57
Speaker 14: Yeah, it really is, and it's really exceeded my expectations.
• 36:00
Speaker 14: I kind of had a good feeling about it, thought
• 36:01
Speaker 14: it was going to do well, but it's really kind
• 36:03
Speaker 14: of exceeded it. And Sewn's done a good job with its,
• 36:05
Speaker 14: as some of our other staff members. I keep adding
• 36:08
Speaker 14: things to my staff's plate and they keep hitting the
• 36:10
Speaker 14: whole run. That's gonna like to see.
• 36:11
Speaker 4: Well, that's a sign that you got a good staff,
• 36:13
Speaker 4: right there, is if you can keep throwing stuff out
• 36:15
Speaker 4: of them and they say and they say next, come on, man,
• 36:17
Speaker 4: they're bringing on bringing on all right ely.
• 36:19
  Speaker 8: Right, sure, right?
• 36:20
Speaker 4: What's going on with the with the plaza out there
• 36:22
Speaker 4: with them all, What's what's happening there? Anything new?
• 36:25
Speaker 14: Well, you know, we just had the groundbreaking for Kroger Marketplace,
• 36:28
Speaker 14: the big first one in the state of West Virginia.
• 36:30
Speaker 14: You guys have heard me say that before. That was
• 36:32
Speaker 14: an Actually that's a big deal for us to get
• 36:34
Speaker 14: that big box anchor store going. And and what that
• 36:37
Speaker 14: does is that dominoes everything else. And we've already had
• 36:40
Speaker 14: phone calls from developer they want to expedite some of
• 36:42
Speaker 14: the other stores a little bit now. So I think
• 36:44
Speaker 14: you'll see some more stores starting in September as well.
• 36:47
Speaker 14: So it's off and running and we're excited.
• 36:50
Speaker 4: And before we let you go, I know everybody is
• 36:52
Speaker 4: excited about Summerfest to getting under wayne South Charleston and
• 36:55
Speaker 4: briefly talk about that.
• 36:57
Speaker 14: Great event every year, right, Dave. So it starts Wednesday thirteenth,
• 37:00
Speaker 14: runs Wednesday to Saturday, as always a lot of live entertainment.
• 37:03
Speaker 14: Uh talked to Mick yesterday, who's basically lives down there
• 37:06
Speaker 14: this week. My park superintendent kind of handles things. He says,
• 37:09
Speaker 14: we got more ventors this year than we've ever had,
• 37:11
Speaker 14: so we have most vendors we've ever had, so we're
• 37:13
Speaker 14: expecting a great event. Drone show Friday night, Saturday night
• 37:17
Speaker 14: capped off the fireworks.
• 37:18
Speaker 4: Everybody come down to this all right, Hey, Mayor, I
• 37:20
Speaker 4: know you're busy day. We'll let you get back to work.
• 37:22
Speaker 4: And remember, if Mayor Mallins can can survive this and
• 37:25
Speaker 4: can do this successly, anybody can. Right.
• 37:29
Speaker 14: That's exactly right, Dave, Thanks for having me.
• 37:31
Speaker 4: Martin appreciate you, all right. So that is South Charleston
• 37:34
Speaker 4: Mayor Frank Mullins appreciate him taking time to be honest,
• 37:36
Speaker 4: you have a little fun there with maryor Mallins. He's
• 37:38
Speaker 4: a good guy and he and I like to go
• 37:40
Speaker 4: back and forth with each other a little bit. And look,
• 37:43
Speaker 4: I'll tell you we have I have to say we
• 37:47
Speaker 4: have some pretty good mayors in this area because I
• 37:49
Speaker 4: interview all of them from South Charleston to Winfield of course,
• 37:53
Speaker 4: to Charleston and Saint Albans and Dunbar and Clinton, Dennon
• 37:57
Speaker 4: and Hurricane. I know I'm gonna leave one out. I'm
• 37:59
Speaker 4: gonna get in trouble, but the bell all of them
• 38:03
Speaker 4: on the show, and they're always willing when I reach
• 38:07
Speaker 4: out to say, hey, mayor, would you like to come
• 38:09
Speaker 4: on and talk about this? They never turned me down.
• 38:12
Speaker 4: They're always like, yep, we want to get some word
• 38:14
Speaker 4: out to people. So just know what he talked about
• 38:16
Speaker 4: was that Jefferson Road project. That construction is going to
• 38:19
Speaker 4: be going on for a couple of days. So, as
• 38:20
Speaker 4: the mayor said, just pack your patients all right, and

• 46:16
Speaker 4: One of the hardest things I ever had to do
• 46:18
Speaker 4: was be a judge for a biscuits and gravy competition. Well,
• 46:22
Speaker 4: I've signed up to do it again this year. Several
• 46:23
Speaker 4: of us here from the radio rancher we're doing that
• 46:26
Speaker 4: and it's not till the fall, but it's already being
• 46:30
Speaker 4: planned now as we speak. So we're going to talk
• 46:33
Speaker 4: to some of the representatives. Also just confirmed and that
• 46:35
Speaker 4: Paula Potter, looks like tentatively the superintendent of schools in
• 46:39
Speaker 4: Knawa County, is going to join us on the show
• 46:41
Speaker 4: tomorrow as well. And of course it is it's back
• 46:44
Speaker 4: to school time. Yeah, believe it or not, it is
• 46:47
Speaker 4: back to school time. So that is all coming up
• 46:49
Speaker 4: on tomorrow show. A couple of quick things in the news.
• 46:53
Speaker 4: I guess we are now in the afterglow of the
• 46:56
Speaker 4: Bernie Sanders visit to the Mountain State. He of course
• 46:58
Speaker 4: was in Wheeling Friday night, and Leonore and Mingo County
• 47:02
Speaker 4: and at the Conliseum here in Charleston Saturday night. He said,
• 47:07
Speaker 4: at those stops, and this is a quote, Trump didn't
• 47:10
Speaker 4: win West Virginia. The Dems lost it. I don't know
• 47:17
Speaker 4: about that. Let me just say two things can be
• 47:20
Speaker 4: true at the same time. The Democrats have definitely my opinion,
• 47:27
Speaker 4: fumbled the ball across the country over the last several years.
• 47:32
Speaker 4: And I'm talking more on the national level. Their imaging
• 47:36
Speaker 4: is horrible and the old saying in marketing. As a
• 47:41
Speaker 4: public relations major, I can tell you that they larnt
• 47:43
Speaker 4: me up at Marshall University that if you're not telling
• 47:48
Speaker 4: your story, someone else is going to tell it for you.
• 47:52
Speaker 4: And the Democrats, my opinion, the story, the story of
• 47:55
Speaker 4: the Democrats, has been told by the Republicans, and many
• 47:59
Speaker 4: Democrat still don't realize why Donald Trump won. Nonetheless, I'll
• 48:06
Speaker 4: say this, no matter how you feel about Bernie Sanders,
• 48:09
Speaker 4: and I am no fan, he's out there. And I
• 48:14
Speaker 4: didn't mean that like it sounded. I mean, he's in public.
• 48:16
Speaker 4: I should say he's out there too, but he's also
• 48:18
Speaker 4: in public. DJ Meadows is making faces at me here
• 48:21
Speaker 4: because they said he's out Now. What I meant was
• 48:23
Speaker 4: he's actually out among the people. Huh. And here's the
• 48:29
Speaker 4: part where people are going to think that old Dave
• 48:31
Speaker 4: has lost his mind, all right, which that happened a
• 48:34
Speaker 4: long time ago. There are a great number of similarities
• 48:38
Speaker 4: between Bernie and Donald Trump, a great number. Matter of fact,
• 48:42
Speaker 4: I was talking to a good friend of mine who
• 48:46
Speaker 4: is about the liberal progressive Democrat as you can get,
• 48:50
Speaker 4: and they said the exact same thing. There are a
• 48:54
Speaker 4: lot of similarities between between the two. Both Trump and
• 49:00
Speaker 4: Bernie have found their niche in people who think they
• 49:02
Speaker 4: have been marginalized by the ruling party. Trump won in
• 49:06
Speaker 4: twenty sixteen because a lot of Republicans were left cold
• 49:09
Speaker 4: by the status quo in the Republican Party. Same with Bernie.
• 49:13
Speaker 4: A lot of Democrats weren't exactly enamored with the status
• 49:16
Speaker 4: quo and the Democratic Party. And of course both Sanders
• 49:19
Speaker 4: and Trump do have support from independence, so there are
• 49:23
Speaker 4: a lot of similarities. We had another giant pothole situation
• 49:27
Speaker 4: yesterday in Charles the multiple vehicles fell victim to it.
• 49:30
Speaker 4: Metro nine to one one yesterday reported had happened yesterday
• 49:33
Speaker 4: on seventy seven thousand New Leon Sullivan Way at mile
• 49:35
Speaker 4: marker one hundred. It seems like it. It never ends,
• 49:39
Speaker 4: Tex says well Trump deranging Trump derangement syndrome. Suffers aren't
• 49:44
Speaker 4: going to like it. But Trump does have the authority
• 49:46
Speaker 4: to activate the twenty seven hundred member DC National Guard
• 49:49
Speaker 4: without approval of local officials. Unlike other branches, he would
• 49:53
Speaker 4: not have to get the sign off of local authorities
• 49:55
Speaker 4: to act, likely making the activation a tempting option. By
• 49:59
Speaker 4: the way, DC is the most dangerous world capital according
• 50:02
Speaker 4: to new data. So keep Winding says the texture. Well,
• 50:05
Speaker 4: violent crime is also down in the nation's capital. That's
• 50:08
Speaker 4: a proven fact. Violent crime is actually down. I don't know.
• 50:11
Speaker 4: Maybe it is the most dangerous capital in the world.
• 50:13
Speaker 4: I find that very hard to believe. I think there's
• 50:15
Speaker 4: some South Americans, some Central American capitals may be a
• 50:17
Speaker 4: little bit more dangerous. I'll go. We'll go with the
• 50:21
Speaker 4: assumption that the texture is correct, though, but violent violent
• 50:24
Speaker 4: crime is down in the nation's capital. But TJ. Meadows
• 50:28
Speaker 4: is here. Last week I got myself into a little
• 50:30
Speaker 4: bit of trouble because I started talking about violent crime
• 50:32
Speaker 4: statistics in America actually going down.
• 50:34
  Speaker 14: And my.
• 50:36
Speaker 4: Theory that in America we are afraid of fear is
• 50:39
Speaker 4: one of my favorite people, John Stossel, would say, we're
• 50:41
Speaker 4: absolutely afraid of fear. People called me out on it
• 50:44
Speaker 4: and said, well, the major cities don't contribute to the
• 50:47
Speaker 4: FBI statistics. I did some research, and as I said earlier, TJ.
• 50:51
Speaker 4: Two things can be right at the same time. They
• 50:53
Speaker 4: didn't always contribute. The major cities New York, Chicago, and
• 50:57
Speaker 4: la among them, didn't always contribute to the federal crime statistics.
• 51:02
Speaker 4: But they do now and on on a whole as
• 51:07
Speaker 4: with DC, violent crime is going down in America. Good morning, sir,
• 51:13
Speaker 4: Good morning. How's it going?
• 51:15
Speaker 20: Walk two blocks any direction in city center Philly? See
• 51:19
Speaker 20: if you feel like crime's going down. But that's that's
• 51:22
Speaker 20: my experience. Why does Bernie hate rich people? When did
• 51:26
Speaker 20: it become a crime to work? Because America rich people.
• 51:32
Speaker 20: I've been through this. We've looked at the numbers. Take
• 51:34
Speaker 20: every penny of wealth that the top one percent has
• 51:38
Speaker 20: distributed over the other ninety nine percent, each household, we'd
• 51:42
Speaker 20: get about three hundred thousand dollars. What happens when somebody
• 51:44
Speaker 20: wins the lottery and gets about three hundred thousand dollars?
• 51:47
Speaker 20: Quickly gone, quickly done. What's next? Yeah, what's next?
• 51:51
Speaker 4: Let me read this text here, Okay, get your opinion.
• 51:54
Speaker 4: Bernie Sanders is the reason, says the textra why we
• 51:56
Speaker 4: have Trump? If we would have had gotten out in
• 51:59
Speaker 4: the if he would have gotten out of the twenty
• 52:01
Speaker 4: sixteen election, we wouldn't be in this mass. Your take, Yeah,
• 52:05
Speaker 4: I don't know. I have to think about that.
• 52:07
Speaker 20: So they're saying the reason we have Trump is because
• 52:09
Speaker 20: Bernie Sanders was lighting everything up and don't.
• 52:13
  Speaker 4: I get where you're going.
• 52:14
Speaker 20: I don't know, but yeah, Bernie, Bernie hates Bernie hates
• 52:20
  Speaker 20: rich people.
• 52:21
Speaker 4: Indeed. I mean, look, we'll get into it and talk
• 52:24
Speaker 4: a lot. I listened to the speech. I was not impressed.
• 52:26
Speaker 4: All right, give me ten seconds. What's on the show today, Hayley.
• 52:30
Speaker 20: Bon stops Spy coming up at ten oh six. We'll
• 52:31
Speaker 20: talk about this funding issue for the family treatment courts.
• 52:34
Speaker 20: Want to get into that, that and a whole lot more.
• 52:36
Speaker 4: All right, quick text says you say crime is down,
• 52:38
Speaker 4: like we shouldn't deal with Oh no, I am absolutely
• 52:41

• 52:44
Speaker 4: comes to dealing with crime.
