Tanzania’s First Gentleman, Hafidh Ameir Hassan — husband of President Samia Suluhu Hassan and a devoted partner through her entire political journey — has passed away in Zanzibar after battling a heart condition. Retired agricultural officer and longtime spouse since 1978, he served as First Gentleman since 2021, during a historic era when Tanzania saw its first female president.
