Cbs Radio Workshop - "The Legend of Jimmy Blue Eyes" (1956)
CBS Radio Workshop, episode 9, presents “The Legend of Jimmy Blue Eyes,” originally broadcast on March 23, 1956. This CBS sustaining production is an original dramatic-verse ballad by Edmund P. Brophy, adapted and directed for radio by Sam Pierce.
William Conrad narrates the story of Jimmy Blue Eyes, a New Orleans trumpet player pursuing an elusive musical note amid the blues and Dixieland atmosphere of old Storyville. Jimmie Dodd stars as Jimmy, with jazz trumpet by Mannie Klein and a continuous musical score that makes this an especially distinctive, music-centered radio drama.
