- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to Jess Hell with Doctor j, a production of
- 0:02Speaker 1: The Black Effect Podcast Network and iHeartRadio. I got a
- 0:07Speaker 1: guest here today. This beautiful young lady has joined me today. Mama, Mary,
- 0:13Speaker 1: what's up? Mama? Okay, Mama, don't ask shot now? Hi Jay, Mama,
- 0:21Speaker 1: don't ask you now. Listen, don't pay attention to the cameras.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Don't let the cameras today. Nobody is just you and
- 0:26Speaker 1: us talking. How you doing?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Girl?
- 0:28Speaker 1: You look good? So Cless yo, I'm so plessed, my mama.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You're gonna have to relax now. You have to stop
- 0:36Speaker 1: acting like you know, go ahead and relax and talk
- 0:38Speaker 1: to all this. I'm blessing all of that team. What's
- 0:41Speaker 1: going on?
- 0:43Speaker 2: I'm cless. I'm excited about life.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Yoh, you got a mama. So you have a birthday
- 0:49Speaker 1: coming up? Yes, and you're gonna be sixty seven six
- 0:55Speaker 1: seven six seven. How you feel a girl?
- 1:01Speaker 2: I feel good?
- 1:02Speaker 1: You'll feel good.
- 1:03Speaker 2: I do you look good? Well? Thank you? I got
- 1:07Speaker 2: it from you.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You ain't get it from me. I got it from you.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I know, I know so, Mama, you you you was
- 1:16Speaker 1: born in a month of love. Yes, I was, and
- 1:20Speaker 1: for most of our life You've always talked about how
- 1:24Speaker 1: love means so much to you, and you often talk
- 1:29Speaker 1: about love is the key, And I wear one of
- 1:33Speaker 1: your favorite shirts that said love is the cure when
- 1:37Speaker 1: you think about love, and I know you probably got
- 1:40Speaker 1: a whole lot to talk about when you think about love.
- 1:44Speaker 1: What comes to your mind? Mama?
- 1:49Speaker 2: For one thing come to your mind as being available.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Love mean to be available, be there for that person
- 1:58Speaker 2: or the person you love. You got to be available.
- 2:01Speaker 2: You have to set a standard and be available because
- 2:05Speaker 2: it's nothing like being in love. But the person you
- 2:09Speaker 2: need is not available for you. So that kind of
- 2:14Speaker 2: you know, that's kind of not like, that's not something
- 2:17Speaker 2: you want to implement in your life. If you love somebody,
- 2:20Speaker 2: you need to have time with them. You need to
- 2:23Speaker 2: make time for them. You need to let them know
- 2:26Speaker 2: that they are very important and they carry. And then
- 2:30Speaker 2: when you when you're talking about love, you have to
- 2:34Speaker 2: be in a place where you have to let your
- 2:39Speaker 2: guards down. You have to get rid of a lot
- 2:41Speaker 2: of stuff that you want to hide from somebody. You
- 2:44Speaker 2: have to share.
- 2:46Speaker 1: So what you're saying, you got to be vulnerable in
- 2:48Speaker 1: order to really give or receive love, that's correct, say
- 2:51Speaker 1: you got to let your guard down.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yes, you have to talk about everything. You have to
- 2:55Speaker 2: be honest, have to clear the way. If you come
- 2:58Speaker 2: in and you're not being honest, then that can lead
- 3:01Speaker 2: to a whole lot of misunderstanding. But if you clear
- 3:05Speaker 2: the way, they're therefore you can start your foundation, right.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You start your foundation right? Yeah? Yeah? Because and I
- 3:13Speaker 1: like what you said mom about letting people know how
- 3:16Speaker 1: you feel about them.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yes, that is very important.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Like when you think about now being married, how important
- 3:24Speaker 1: is it to let others know how you feel about
- 3:29Speaker 1: them in a relationship? Like letting people because like it's
- 3:33Speaker 1: for an example, mom, like a lot of women are
- 3:36Speaker 1: married to men and the men don't tell them they
- 3:40Speaker 1: look pretty often and the man thinks, well, I tell
- 3:43Speaker 1: you that. You know, everybody else tell you look pretty?
- 3:45Speaker 1: Why do I need to tell you look pretty? How
- 3:47Speaker 1: important is it for people to hear from their spouses
- 3:51Speaker 1: how their spouses feel and see them?
- 3:53Speaker 2: Oh, that is very important. That's just like God telling
- 3:57Speaker 2: us he love us.
- 3:58Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:59Speaker 2: That is very import that a husband do that. It
- 4:02Speaker 2: just makes you feel so good, like you walking on
- 4:05Speaker 2: top of the world. Yeah, And for them to come
- 4:08Speaker 2: and tell you that that just holds so much vague.
- 4:11Speaker 2: That is, you know, that's packed with a lock jay
- 4:14Speaker 2: for somebody to tell you that they love you, they
- 4:17Speaker 2: appreciate you, and you made the world to me, that
- 4:21Speaker 2: just it makes you. They call it the big head,
- 4:23Speaker 2: but I like it because they swearing you up in
- 4:25Speaker 2: a place.
- 4:26Speaker 1: You need to be swollen up in, you know, yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 2: To feel thankful and grateful that you have somebody appreciate
- 4:32Speaker 2: you like that. That is very big that.
- 4:35Speaker 1: It's funny you say that because I was in a relationship,
- 4:38Speaker 1: Mama where the girl told me she said, she said,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I ain't gonna tell you look good because I don't
- 4:44Speaker 1: want you to get the big head kind of like
- 4:46Speaker 1: what you just said. And I didn't understand it because
- 4:49Speaker 1: I'm like, wouldn't you want to tell your spouse how
- 4:52Speaker 1: they look, how you appreciate them, that they're doing good,
- 4:55Speaker 1: like especially like you know somebody's on a wakes like you.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I'm like, you need to affirm each other exactly. I
- 5:03Speaker 1: think so many times in relationships, people are so comfortable
- 5:07Speaker 1: that they have people that they don't realize the importance
- 5:10Speaker 1: of not just keeping them. But how do you sustain
- 5:13Speaker 1: what you guys are building because if you're in a
- 5:16Speaker 1: relationship for longevity, you have to think about what you're building,
- 5:20Speaker 1: not what you have built. That's right, and so I'm like, man,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it's important that you affirm each other daily in different ways.
- 5:26Speaker 2: That is so true because love is layered with so
- 5:29Speaker 2: many different avenues. You know what I mean to be
- 5:33Speaker 2: love and to show love that just carries so much
- 5:37Speaker 2: during the day, if it's no more than leaving a
- 5:39Speaker 2: know or to get up and make her coffee or
- 5:42Speaker 2: do something special for him, I like for it to be.
- 5:46Speaker 2: You know, I don't ship the fifth. I like to
- 5:48Speaker 2: see one hundred. I don't like fifth to fifth. I
- 5:51Speaker 2: like one hundred one hundred because you're always giving your
- 5:54Speaker 2: best because we don't never know when we may check out.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But if you check out and leave a good perhps behind,
- 6:01Speaker 2: then you always missed. You see what I'm saying. But
- 6:04Speaker 2: when people don't give their best, they can't miss nothing
- 6:07Speaker 2: because they didn't give all that theyself. You got to
- 6:09Speaker 2: give you all, just like you do God, surrender everything,
- 6:13Speaker 2: give all in your love. Then let that person know
- 6:16Speaker 2: you appreciate them and you don't take it for granted
- 6:19Speaker 2: because when you take it for granted. It can be
- 6:21Speaker 2: gone at the twinkling enough and eye. You know, So
- 6:25Speaker 2: you don't want to take love for granted. You know
- 6:27Speaker 2: it's so important because you're.
- 6:29Speaker 1: That daily this generation, Mama. It's like if you show
- 6:34Speaker 1: too much interest.
- 6:36Speaker 2: They take it for granted.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Yeah, they's like, oh you're sassy. Yeah, if you so
- 6:41Speaker 1: much answer you, you're too clinging. It's almost like we
- 6:44Speaker 1: are frown.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I've heard that before. It's no such thing as being clinging.
- 6:49Speaker 2: It's nothing wrong with you. And somebody love to me, like,
- 6:53Speaker 2: this is the season. You need to do that because
- 6:56Speaker 2: we all need God. We're thankful for him, but God
- 7:00Speaker 2: show his love through us. And people can look at
- 7:03Speaker 2: you and know that you love because the way you're
- 7:05Speaker 2: carrying yourself, the fruits on your tree, how you're alone, suffering,
- 7:10Speaker 2: you endure, You're always caring, you're always sharing, You're always
- 7:15Speaker 2: just doing love things.
- 7:16Speaker 3: You know.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I like that tree, they got all them nine fruits
- 7:19Speaker 2: on it. I just I love. Oh yeah, that's what
- 7:24Speaker 2: it is, all them nine all them good fruits on them.
- 7:27Speaker 2: But if you don't, if you got a tree in
- 7:29Speaker 2: your yard and it's not bearing fruit, what good is
- 7:31Speaker 2: it I'm so thankful.
- 7:34Speaker 1: If you got a tree in your yard, if it
- 7:35Speaker 1: ain't burying, no fruit, what good is? What good is
- 7:38Speaker 1: it you're teaching on this good day? Mam?
- 7:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I pay. It's all about love. I love it
- 7:43Speaker 2: because I thank God to be able to be a
- 7:46Speaker 2: love vessel for my family and to teach people how
- 7:50Speaker 2: giving and caring and being there for somebody it means
- 7:54Speaker 2: so much. I've had that place in my life before
- 7:58Speaker 2: well I didn't have that, and when you have it,
- 8:01Speaker 2: it means everything. It means a lot of times sometime
- 8:05Speaker 2: just rising up knowing that God love us, and you
- 8:08Speaker 2: have someone in your home love you. And I could
- 8:11Speaker 2: tell you the days I come home before I got buried,
- 8:14Speaker 2: how I felt sticking the key in the door, coming
- 8:17Speaker 2: home to an empty house. And now that my husband
- 8:20Speaker 2: is there, that means so much to me.
- 8:22Speaker 1: You gotta go back, Mamas, got to show down, okay,
- 8:25Speaker 1: because see, you found love later in life. I did.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Most people don't notice, but you got married. You remarried
- 8:32Speaker 1: at what six, twenty eighteen, and at twenty eighteen you
- 8:37Speaker 1: were what sixty one?
- 8:39Speaker 2: Sixty something? Seen sixty?
- 8:43Speaker 1: I don't know my math and mathing right now, Okay,
- 8:47Speaker 1: but you got married.
- 8:48Speaker 2: It's six in my sixties again, and so you.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Talked about putting the key in the door of an
- 8:55Speaker 1: empty house. Yeah, what was that like, Mama? It was
- 8:58Speaker 1: now because now your kids.
- 8:59Speaker 2: Are yes, and it's so such a blessing to go
- 9:03Speaker 2: home to a husband and your kids are grown. Nobody
- 9:06Speaker 2: told me feel so good when the kids are grown
- 9:08Speaker 2: and gone because you get chanced to enjoy the full
- 9:12Speaker 2: thing in life. I didn't know that with the kids
- 9:14Speaker 2: being grown and gone, it's just a whole new thing.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Did you have to relearn who you?
- 9:21Speaker 2: I did hear? I'm studying that now, Jane, because I
- 9:24Speaker 2: always put every when I had y'all, I just put
- 9:27Speaker 2: everything in one best five. I have to be honest
- 9:30Speaker 2: because I was focused on my kids being better than me,
- 9:34Speaker 2: my son having the tools that he needs in order
- 9:37Speaker 2: to be a better person. So I know that when
- 9:40Speaker 2: you're raising children sometimes you have to sacrifice, and that
- 9:45Speaker 2: means to make sure the children have the tools for
- 9:48Speaker 2: the world and going out into the next making this
- 9:51Speaker 2: place a better place. But you got to do your job.
- 9:54Speaker 2: It's not gonna come easy. You can't expect other folks
- 9:57Speaker 2: to do it. You got to train up the child
- 9:59Speaker 2: in a way it should go. So when it's old
- 10:01Speaker 2: and want the part, you got to do it. And
- 10:04Speaker 2: everything looks so good when they are little, They cute,
- 10:07Speaker 2: little bold, little act Look. I just love to put
- 10:10Speaker 2: Jay in suits when he was a little boy, and
- 10:12Speaker 2: he didn't like it, but I loved dressing them up.
- 10:15Speaker 2: But I found out something. We can dress them up,
- 10:17Speaker 2: but we don't want them to be empty. We can
- 10:20Speaker 2: tell them about God. We got to give them the
- 10:23Speaker 2: word so they can be able to share with others.
- 10:25Speaker 2: If they don't have no word, then we're empty. And
- 10:29Speaker 2: if you're empty, you're lost. So love just carries so
- 10:34Speaker 2: many layers. You could talk about it all day.
- 10:36Speaker 1: You made a lot of sacrifice, Mama, I did.
- 10:40Speaker 2: And you know what, Jay, if I had to.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Do it again, I would you do it all over again.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Oh yes, for my children. I wanted y'all to be
- 10:50Speaker 2: better than me. And the reason is because I understand
- 10:55Speaker 2: that if they are better than you, then you can
- 10:58Speaker 2: look back and see that you you the fruits and
- 11:01Speaker 2: the thing God gave you, all the tools God gave
- 11:04Speaker 2: me to be a good mother. I took my Mama
- 11:06Speaker 2: gave to me. I turn around to give it to
- 11:08Speaker 2: my children. Some of this stuff we take out. Some
- 11:11Speaker 2: of this stuff we keep, but for the most of it,
- 11:13Speaker 2: I want to keep it. Love is such a great
- 11:16Speaker 2: thing I've always saw in my mom and my dad.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm so thankful that they taught me about love because
- 11:22Speaker 2: I understand. You can have a lot of things in
- 11:25Speaker 2: this life. Other thing money caravan, but money don't hold
- 11:28Speaker 2: a place like love. Love can hold anything together. If
- 11:33Speaker 2: you wanted to work, it would work. But if you
- 11:37Speaker 2: don't put the work in, you can't expect to sing anything.
- 11:40Speaker 2: But love can turn a lot of things around. I'm
- 11:43Speaker 2: a believer of that.
- 11:45Speaker 1: You talk about how you would do it all over again,
- 11:49Speaker 1: and you gave us. I think one day you said
- 11:51Speaker 1: to me, and you said, I didn't have a lot
- 11:54Speaker 1: of money to give y'all, right, but I wanted to
- 11:57Speaker 1: give y'all God, I wanted to give you y'all Jesus.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I wanted to give y'all words, so y'all can have
- 12:03Speaker 1: a foundation on how to navigate life. And when you
- 12:08Speaker 1: think about the sacrifice you made when you when you
- 12:11Speaker 1: and Daddy divorced and you packed up that you haul
- 12:14Speaker 1: truck and you put your three kids, and you was
- 12:18Speaker 1: forty at the time. That's correct, you know what I mean.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I remember that's forty was always pivotal for me because
- 12:25Speaker 1: it was when you and Daddy divorced. Right when you
- 12:29Speaker 1: look back on that decision putting your kids in the
- 12:33Speaker 1: truck and come into a place that you just I mean,
- 12:38Speaker 1: you just want a better life for your kids after
- 12:40Speaker 1: being married for fifteen years. Yes, if you could step
- 12:44Speaker 1: back into that place, Mama to forty year old marriage,
- 12:47Speaker 1: what was going through your mind at that time?
- 12:50Speaker 2: My main thing was making sure y'all be okay. I
- 12:53Speaker 2: didn't need at that time. I didn't have any feelings.
- 12:55Speaker 2: People don't believe. That's a part of you die. When
- 12:59Speaker 2: you go through a devoid. You got to get your
- 13:02Speaker 2: mind off. I had to to me. I wasn't worried
- 13:05Speaker 2: about healing. I wanted you all to be okay. You
- 13:08Speaker 2: see what I'm saying again, that's love, mother's love. Yeah,
- 13:11Speaker 2: I found out. I said, God, you can heal me.
- 13:14Speaker 2: But main thing I want to make sure Jay can
- 13:17Speaker 2: in Priscilla's okay. That was very important to me. I
- 13:21Speaker 2: didn't mind hurting, I didn't mind crying because I wanted
- 13:24Speaker 2: you all to be okay.
- 13:27Speaker 1: When you when you and you say that Mama, that
- 13:30Speaker 1: you didn't mind hurting, But how did you heal and
- 13:36Speaker 1: repair from that? Because but you go through a fifteen
- 13:40Speaker 1: year marriage and the way it ended and all the
- 13:43Speaker 1: things you suffered in marriage, and once you went through,
- 13:47Speaker 1: like where did you heal?
- 13:49Speaker 2: I heal in a place where Jay, it's this is
- 13:53Speaker 2: what happened to me. So I have to be honest. Okay,
- 13:56Speaker 2: I had to die from that because it had already
- 13:58Speaker 2: dropped me off, right, So since I was dying, I
- 14:02Speaker 2: couldn't let y'all die too. So you die from that
- 14:06Speaker 2: because you found out that person went off and left
- 14:09Speaker 2: you and they counted as don so if they count that,
- 14:12Speaker 2: it's done. You have to go on with your life.
- 14:14Speaker 2: When you got kids involved, I couldn't afford to let
- 14:17Speaker 2: stay down because if I stay down, I couldn't pull
- 14:20Speaker 2: you all up. So I had to reach up, reach down,
- 14:24Speaker 2: as they say, and get my bootstraps and pull them
- 14:27Speaker 2: up and say, hey, you got to pull this together
- 14:30Speaker 2: because your children need you. That was my focus. It's
- 14:33Speaker 2: always been God and my children. After he had walked
- 14:36Speaker 2: off and he had went away, I just I just
- 14:39Speaker 2: said Okay, God, if somebody don't love you, you let
- 14:42Speaker 2: them go. You can't run in behind somebody if they
- 14:45Speaker 2: don't love you, you have to let it go. Because he
- 14:48Speaker 2: told me he didn't want to be there. So if
- 14:51Speaker 2: somebody take you, they don't want to be present. I
- 14:53Speaker 2: was always told you to let it go. So I
- 14:55Speaker 2: didn't know nobody let it go?
- 14:57Speaker 1: Did you? When? Did you? You know? Because I think
- 15:01Speaker 1: when you are going through a divorce and the marriage,
- 15:05Speaker 1: and I've worked with couples, I think people leave before
- 15:08Speaker 1: they leave. Did you notice and you felt when Daddy left?
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yes? I did, Yes, I did.
- 15:14Speaker 1: What year did you know when he left?
- 15:17Speaker 2: I want to think. I don't know. Jay he was
- 15:21Speaker 2: asking a lot because he was working with the church.
- 15:24Speaker 2: And that's one of the things I tell people, even
- 15:27Speaker 2: in having a ministry, your first ministry start at home.
- 15:32Speaker 1: So Pauls, your first ministry start at home for all
- 15:38Speaker 1: you folks. That's starting churches, all you folks is running
- 15:41Speaker 1: to be bishops and apostles. Start minishing at home first,
- 15:48Speaker 1: because if your family is not getting the best of
- 15:52Speaker 1: you in the churches getting all of you, you're failing.
- 15:55Speaker 1: And ministry.
- 15:58Speaker 2: You have to stop and make sure your children.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Are okay, because we were not okay. That's why Bay
- 16:05Speaker 1: we's in church. Mama, y'all had a.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Sunday ripping and running, tied, no rest, you couldn't vocals.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And this debaby come to me and told me, Mama,
- 16:14Speaker 2: he said, I can't go tonight. I can't even think straight.
- 16:17Speaker 2: In his school, his teacher called me missus Sallah. He said, Jay,
- 16:20Speaker 2: you're sleeping all the time. He said, y'all gonna have
- 16:23Speaker 2: to come to a plan on something. He can't think
- 16:26Speaker 2: if he's tired all the time. So he said, Mama,
- 16:29Speaker 2: let's stop going to Bible class and let's start having
- 16:31Speaker 2: Bible class at home. And that's what I did, because
- 16:34Speaker 2: I knew for him to come to me as a
- 16:36Speaker 2: child and say that it's something I needed to do.
- 16:40Speaker 2: So I started teaching them Bible class from home. Because
- 16:43Speaker 2: this baby came and told me that he wanted to
- 16:47Speaker 2: stay at home because he was tired. We got back
- 16:49Speaker 2: every night, let him at twelve or ninet ten and
- 16:51Speaker 2: eleven at night and twelve later than that. Sometimes it
- 16:54Speaker 2: depends on what they wanted. But I found out. I said,
- 16:58Speaker 2: I can't fix the world and don't fit my children.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I said, I love them, but I can't think them.
- 17:05Speaker 2: They it's my responsibility.
- 17:07Speaker 1: And you just we setting stage for you. Jay.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, everybody do matter. But let me tell
- 17:15Speaker 2: you something. Until you start at your house, at your house,
- 17:20Speaker 2: I ain't talking about going to nobody else house. Until
- 17:22Speaker 2: you start that teaching and that loving and all that
- 17:25Speaker 2: good stuff at your house, you wasted. Sometimes you don't
- 17:29Speaker 2: realize it, but how do you tell people to discipline
- 17:36Speaker 2: and to love and to talk to their children if
- 17:38Speaker 2: you're not doing it? So I said, Cherry, start fight home.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Like the Bible says, yeah, because who we saw in
- 17:47Speaker 1: the poor pit was it who we live with?
- 17:49Speaker 2: That's right. And I didn't want to believe it. I
- 17:51Speaker 2: didn't want to believe it. When that started happening, it
- 17:54Speaker 2: blew my mind. But I said, I can't be worried
- 17:56Speaker 2: about it. If that's what he want to do, that's
- 17:58Speaker 2: what he want to do, because you have to realize
- 18:01Speaker 2: that you can't make people. You can't change people. If
- 18:05Speaker 2: somebody said they don't want to be with you, you
- 18:07Speaker 2: have to let it go. And I wouldn't believe in.
- 18:10Speaker 2: I'm not I never been that type person trying to
- 18:12Speaker 2: make nobody love me.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Again.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I don't believe in trying to make nobody love you.
- 18:17Speaker 2: Don't do that, ladies, gentlemen, if somebody let you know
- 18:22Speaker 2: that they don't want to be bothered, Hey, let it rest.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Just take your losses and shake the dust from your
- 18:30Speaker 2: feet and move right along. Because if they done, already
- 18:34Speaker 2: told you and already showed you what else you need,
- 18:37Speaker 2: I think that's your your key to go, you know,
- 18:41Speaker 2: say hey, I'm gonna come I lost us and go
- 18:44Speaker 2: on down the road. That's what I had to do
- 18:47Speaker 2: because I found out that if I'm over there trying
- 18:49Speaker 2: to fix him, I can't fix y'all in him too.
- 18:53Speaker 2: So my job was to worry about the babies that
- 18:55Speaker 2: didn't ask to come here. But they need some direction
- 18:59Speaker 2: and some love. And that's what I stopped to do.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Along the way. I said, I can't raise no man.
- 19:04Speaker 2: I cannot raise a man. I can't change a man.
- 19:07Speaker 2: The same man changed me. Would have to change him.
- 19:10Speaker 2: But you have to have your heart in something. If
- 19:14Speaker 2: you're loving somebody and want to see the beds, but
- 19:17Speaker 2: sometime if you and that person are cut from two
- 19:21Speaker 2: different cloths, y'all thinking are totally different. So I come
- 19:25Speaker 2: from the background of people loving God, a people being
- 19:29Speaker 2: in God. My grandfather was a pastor, My granddad was
- 19:33Speaker 2: a pastor of my daddy dad was a pastor. So
- 19:37Speaker 2: we have that in our family. People are God. We
- 19:40Speaker 2: all love God. It's our foundation and that's our legacy
- 19:44Speaker 2: as a Jones is that's our legacy, and I'm gonna
- 19:47Speaker 2: hold to it because it carries so much value. I
- 19:50Speaker 2: don't ever want to get lost from living holy because
- 19:54Speaker 2: it's still right. I don't care what people say. It's right.
- 19:58Speaker 2: If God is pleased with it, I'm pleased with it.
- 20:01Speaker 2: But we got to start at the house. He take
- 20:03Speaker 2: care of them babies, make sure they're getting the right
- 20:06Speaker 2: nurture so they can go out and make a difference
- 20:08Speaker 2: in the world.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Now, you've had to walk with me through some
- 20:12Speaker 1: tough time, Mama.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Oh my lord, yep.
- 20:18Speaker 1: And you called me I think was it yesterday, and
- 20:23Speaker 1: we was talking about your birthday and you was just
- 20:25Speaker 1: kind of reminiscent on me being a little boy, and
- 20:28Speaker 1: you kind of touched on some emotional things and one
- 20:33Speaker 1: of the things you said, you said, I'm glad you
- 20:36Speaker 1: just succeed in taking your life.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I am so thankful that he listened to me.
- 20:44Speaker 3: I said, Jay, please don't, I said, because I know
- 20:47Speaker 3: greatness lies in you. And I know that because that's
- 20:52Speaker 3: why the endemy kept coming, because he figured if he
- 20:55Speaker 3: could get you do that, then then it put me
- 20:57Speaker 3: in a bad place. But I told God, I said, God,
- 21:01Speaker 3: please don't let this happen. I said, because I won't
- 21:05Speaker 3: be good here on earth without.
- 21:06Speaker 1: My only son.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I said. My situation is different from your because I
- 21:13Speaker 2: know that you can't your only son for that reason.
- 21:17Speaker 2: But I don't want my son to take his life
- 21:20Speaker 2: because there's so many people you can help, and it
- 21:23Speaker 2: makes a difference when you can help people. And even now,
- 21:28Speaker 2: we're changed in the world by you being where you
- 21:31Speaker 2: are and doing what you're doing for the Lord. That's
- 21:34Speaker 2: what the enemy didn't want to happen. Because when you
- 21:38Speaker 2: touch a man, you touch a family. Every man touch
- 21:42Speaker 2: it changes the family. That's why I tell anybody a
- 21:47Speaker 2: man leaves his family in so many ways. And I
- 21:51Speaker 2: tell anybody, if God permit you to stay and you
- 21:56Speaker 2: can work through what you do it, but if he
- 21:58Speaker 2: releases you to God, you don't have a choice. But
- 22:01Speaker 2: if you can try to hold your family together. It
- 22:05Speaker 2: mean everything to have a good man over your family
- 22:08Speaker 2: trying to work. You ain't perfect, nobody's perfect. But the
- 22:12Speaker 2: more we sit with God, the more things he give
- 22:17Speaker 2: you to make you want to live for your children.
- 22:20Speaker 2: So I'm so thankful to God that Jay listened to
- 22:24Speaker 2: me when I act babe to him. I said, Jane,
- 22:27Speaker 2: whatever you do, don't do that. I said, be Paul.
- 22:29Speaker 2: That would make me the saddest person. And I went
- 22:33Speaker 2: to God. I said, God, please don't let my son
- 22:36Speaker 2: take my life. I said, cod, I don't have anything
- 22:39Speaker 2: to live for. I say, you know how, I told
- 22:42Speaker 2: him I wanted my first child to be a boy,
- 22:45Speaker 2: I said, because I always seeing him being on a
- 22:47Speaker 2: strong person, even when he was conceived. That night I
- 22:53Speaker 2: got pregnant with Jane. I felt him. I knew I
- 22:56Speaker 2: was pregnant, and I knew I was pregnant with great
- 23:00Speaker 2: and reason. I say greatness now because I'm at the
- 23:02Speaker 2: age where I'm a two it I'm seasoned. I know
- 23:05Speaker 2: that greatness come with a price, and I can feel.
- 23:10Speaker 1: That.
- 23:11Speaker 2: I know I was pregnant. I was so happy and
- 23:14Speaker 2: I didn't even I couldn't even put it together. The
- 23:16Speaker 2: next day, I didn't know what was going on, so
- 23:18Speaker 2: God something for the last night. But I don't know what.
- 23:23Speaker 2: But I tell every man, if you don't understand life,
- 23:27Speaker 2: get with somebody to help you along the way. Don't
- 23:31Speaker 2: make your excuses. Try to make a difference in this
- 23:35Speaker 2: world because God put me in first. They're ahead of
- 23:38Speaker 2: their house, whatever you got ahead of your barn or whatever.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Make yourself the head. Try to be involved in your
- 23:46Speaker 2: children life. I ain't know the difference because I was
- 23:49Speaker 2: raised with a mother and a father. It makes a different.
- 23:53Speaker 2: He wasn't a talking man, but he was there and
- 23:56Speaker 2: to me, present mean every thing. My daddy no big talker,
- 24:01Speaker 2: but I love how he was always present. That means
- 24:05Speaker 2: a lot. I don't care if you around there sweeping
- 24:07Speaker 2: the poet off. It makes a difference in your children life.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Try to pick them up, go spend time with them.
- 24:15Speaker 2: That matters. Mom. Yes they love Ma, but we love
- 24:20Speaker 2: it when the daddy come and get you and love
- 24:22Speaker 2: on you because here two people took part in that
- 24:26Speaker 2: that don't happen with one person. That two people come
- 24:29Speaker 2: together loving each other. And even if you still don't
- 24:34Speaker 2: make an excuse, try to spend time with your children
- 24:38Speaker 2: help make a difference in their life. That when you
- 24:41Speaker 2: look and I can sit back like me sitting back
- 24:43Speaker 2: and watching Jay, I have so I with God, I
- 24:47Speaker 2: have so much to be thankful for. Because I didn't
- 24:49Speaker 2: know what to tell them. Sometime I said, Jay, I
- 24:52Speaker 2: hope you find a man that can help you out,
- 24:54Speaker 2: since right now I, me and your dadd is not together.
- 24:57Speaker 2: I wanted him to find somebody because I don't have
- 25:00Speaker 2: all the answer. I can't raise a man. I'm a woman.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I can help nurture you on the word of God,
- 25:07Speaker 2: but another man has to come in and implement to
- 25:11Speaker 2: you how to be a man. I didn't have that.
- 25:15Speaker 2: We don't have that, but we can give you the
- 25:17Speaker 2: word of God. So that's why God help peoples everywhere
- 25:21Speaker 2: that can help you along the way. We don't never know.
- 25:25Speaker 2: You don't have to be skinned to be clear kin.
- 25:27Speaker 2: You know, and jayf have many people help him alone
- 25:31Speaker 2: this journey. You don't have to be my skin to
- 25:34Speaker 2: be my kin. Pick it up and love on people
- 25:37Speaker 2: and do as the Lord leads you to do. He
- 25:40Speaker 2: might tell you to go pick up somebody, go love
- 25:43Speaker 2: on somebody's son or daughter. That's how God do things.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I can't tell you the people God has allowed me
- 25:49Speaker 2: to nurture and to be a blessing to her because
- 25:53Speaker 2: I used to help in the hospital. I told you,
- 25:55Speaker 2: I used to work at shall Community Hospital, used to
- 25:59Speaker 2: help deliver a churech and prayed over so many people.
- 26:02Speaker 2: But I always try to seek kids and try to
- 26:04Speaker 2: stir them in the right way, because that's what pells do.
- 26:08Speaker 2: They don't have to be your child. Everybody can touch you.
- 26:12Speaker 2: It take a village to love each other. So I'm
- 26:16Speaker 2: so thankful and so proud of JJ and I thank God.
- 26:19Speaker 2: He always been a child that listen. If I said, Jay,
- 26:22Speaker 2: I don't think that'll be good, he will listen to me.
- 26:25Speaker 2: But he and I has been on so many journeys.
- 26:28Speaker 2: I tell you, every time we get knocked down together,
- 26:32Speaker 2: we'll get back up. I said, I'm gonna escort you
- 26:35Speaker 2: to where you need to be until God give you
- 26:38Speaker 2: what he have you, even on my whole loan till
- 26:41Speaker 2: I go in my grade because I want to see
- 26:43Speaker 2: him ex seed My other children too. I love them too.
- 26:47Speaker 2: I love escorting people to your destination. And what would
- 26:51Speaker 2: you tell God say different? You don't have to let
- 26:54Speaker 2: go with your children hang on to them, encourage them.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Always talk in their ears. My mama, I can't steal here.
- 26:59Speaker 2: My mama talking to me, and she ain't ever. Sometimes
- 27:02Speaker 2: she'll tell me one time, when I first got out here,
- 27:04Speaker 2: I told you I was crying so bad, and I
- 27:06Speaker 2: heard us say it's gonna be okay. So it's so
- 27:10Speaker 2: good to do your part so they have something to
- 27:13Speaker 2: look back on when you're gone, so they can say,
- 27:16Speaker 2: I know, Mama wouldn't want me doing it, you know.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I hear your voice often, Mama. That's good, you say.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Use wisdom, yep, don't be one of your favorite things.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Don't let your left hand know with your right handed
- 27:28Speaker 1: pr out of your tongue, pray over your tongue. Yeah,
- 27:30Speaker 1: don't be talking too much. Yeah, because folks, folks, folks,
- 27:33Speaker 1: everybody ain't happy for you.
- 27:35Speaker 2: They use it against you. We have to, we have
- 27:38Speaker 2: to oh the blood of Jesus. That's one of the
- 27:42Speaker 2: things I do in prayer time. You got to do
- 27:44Speaker 2: it me. It's women, boys and girl children everywhere, plead
- 27:48Speaker 2: the blood over your tongue.
- 27:50Speaker 1: Period.
- 27:52Speaker 2: It's really can say all kinds of stuff, but you
- 27:56Speaker 2: want to be pleasing to God and choosing your word,
- 27:59Speaker 2: when when you speak, how you speak, what you say,
- 28:02Speaker 2: how do you do carry yourself with the fruits of
- 28:05Speaker 2: the spirit, so people don't have to judge you. They
- 28:08Speaker 2: can see the fruits on the tree. So you can
- 28:11Speaker 2: tell me what you want them. But I'm gonna watch it,
- 28:15Speaker 2: watch and pray. It means a lot. This one have
- 28:19Speaker 2: watched me. I don't know all I can tell you
- 28:23Speaker 2: from JJ with He started watching you from afore and
- 28:27Speaker 2: I told him I had never told him. I know
- 28:29Speaker 2: from when I was a teenager and had him. He've
- 28:32Speaker 2: always watched me start walking in that walking Mommy, where
- 28:35Speaker 2: are you? I said, Jay, I'm in the kitchen. He
- 28:38Speaker 2: would always watch me till this day. He still watch you.
- 28:43Speaker 2: So I tell people be careful how you act around
- 28:45Speaker 2: your children. They remember this stuff. They talking about four
- 28:48Speaker 2: and five years old. You don't remember this one. Remember
- 28:52Speaker 2: they like a GPS system. They see everything, they record everything.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Just watch what you do before them. If you're talking
- 28:59Speaker 2: about something you don't want to know, you better go
- 29:00Speaker 2: out the room. When this one little he listened to
- 29:03Speaker 2: everything you say. I tell everybody with your children, don't
- 29:07Speaker 2: talk about well, they don't know what I'm saying, that's
- 29:09Speaker 2: what you think. Be very careful.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Enclosing. You're one of eighteen. You have seventeen siblings, Yes,
- 29:20Speaker 1: you have what twelve sisters? How many sisters? Eleven?
- 29:23Speaker 2: Twelve?
- 29:24Speaker 1: It's twelve, twelve sisters and five brothers.
- 29:27Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 29:30Speaker 1: You you're turning sixty seven and you lived a full life.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I remember one day I asked you, Mama, what did
- 29:36Speaker 1: you always wanted to do? And because you get up
- 29:40Speaker 1: every morning and you pray for me and you cover
- 29:43Speaker 1: and you cover the family. You're praying for folks. You're
- 29:46Speaker 1: praying for my best friend Joel. You're praying for all
- 29:49Speaker 1: of the folks that I bring to you. Yep, they
- 29:52Speaker 1: all call you Mama Mary. As you're entering to this season,
- 29:57Speaker 1: Mama where you retired and you just you're resting. Now,
- 30:04Speaker 1: how was that for you to find it? It just
- 30:07Speaker 1: rest because you work. You've been working. Mama says you're fourteen.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Uh huh, sixteen, sixteen.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Yep, sixteen. It's working really good.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Jay.
- 30:17Speaker 2: I'm so thankful. My dad was a farmer, so we
- 30:19Speaker 2: worked all the time. But when I took the job
- 30:21Speaker 2: at the school, I was sixteen. But I'm thankful to
- 30:25Speaker 2: God that I'm finally able to sit down and see
- 30:27Speaker 2: what out I want. You know what I'm saying, and
- 30:31Speaker 2: I'm still I still love calling people, praying for people,
- 30:35Speaker 2: checking over people. I still do that in my family
- 30:38Speaker 2: because God chose me to look out for everybody, so
- 30:41Speaker 2: I try to look out for everybody. But I love
- 30:43Speaker 2: it. It's a part of who I am and your character.
- 30:46Speaker 2: When God choose you, he choose you. You can't say
- 30:49Speaker 2: I don't want to do it. I do want to
- 30:51Speaker 2: do it. But right now I'm loving being retired. Lead
- 30:54Speaker 2: in the bed a little longer. I just lay it,
- 30:57Speaker 2: pray and spend time a going. I'm just loving it.
- 31:00Speaker 2: I didn't realize that I had to turn around, reinvent myself,
- 31:04Speaker 2: work on myself how to injure my knee. But I'm
- 31:07Speaker 2: thankful to God. I'm learning to take care of me
- 31:09Speaker 2: jay and learn how to fall in love with me again.
- 31:11Speaker 2: So I'm so thankful.
- 31:14Speaker 1: I was glad that you shared that, Jihs.
- 31:16Speaker 2: It means so much.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Women that have been mothers, that have put their children
- 31:21Speaker 1: before them, their husbands, their spouses, their careers, their families,
- 31:27Speaker 1: their communities, and we don't realize that life is such
- 31:31Speaker 1: a continuous process of learning. Yes, and you just said
- 31:37Speaker 1: you're learning to love you all over again and to
- 31:39Speaker 1: reinvent yourself. So what you're saying is that it doesn't
- 31:41Speaker 1: matter how old you are, if you're still here, you
- 31:44Speaker 1: still can become better.
- 31:46Speaker 2: That's right, of course. And I tell you, God have
- 31:48Speaker 2: me on a new eating regiment, and I'm thankful to
- 31:52Speaker 2: God for that because you want to eat green and
- 31:56Speaker 2: to take care of yourself. But at the time, I
- 31:59Speaker 2: was still taking care of somebody else. So I'm thankful
- 32:02Speaker 2: now that I can sit down and feed me to
- 32:05Speaker 2: give me some more food in order, some spiritual food
- 32:09Speaker 2: and green food to try to be better. You know
- 32:11Speaker 2: what I'm saying, because when you look back over your life,
- 32:15Speaker 2: you still want to be a blessing to somebody else.
- 32:18Speaker 2: And that's what I said. It's still work to do,
- 32:21Speaker 2: you know, it's still work to do. You still could
- 32:23Speaker 2: encourage somebody even when I'm in this store. God, do
- 32:26Speaker 2: you want me to pray with them and talk to them,
- 32:28Speaker 2: because your work is never done. It's always somebody could
- 32:32Speaker 2: use a prayer or just a kind word or just
- 32:36Speaker 2: say something nice to him. Because so many people is
- 32:39Speaker 2: going through a lot in this season, and I'm just
- 32:41Speaker 2: thankful to God that he used my mouth to be
- 32:44Speaker 2: a blessing to people and try to be a people
- 32:46Speaker 2: up and pray for him and encourage him along the way.
- 32:49Speaker 2: But I'm loving being off. Don't even really know how
- 32:53Speaker 2: to act.
- 32:55Speaker 1: You're all over town now, baby, I think you just
- 32:58Speaker 1: ride and just be right.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Yes, yes, of course.
- 33:01Speaker 1: So sixty seven years, three beautiful kids, five grandchildren. You
- 33:06Speaker 1: got a son as out here helping the world here.
- 33:08Speaker 1: You got a daughter that's amazing social worker. You got
- 33:12Speaker 1: another daughter that's an amazing teacher. Are you proud of you?
- 33:15Speaker 3: Man?
- 33:16Speaker 2: I am? I am so thankful, jay, I thank God Axent.
- 33:19Speaker 1: Are you proud of you? You?
- 33:20Speaker 2: Yes?
- 33:21Speaker 1: I ain't not proud of me. Are you getting you? Yes?
- 33:24Speaker 2: That's what I say. I am. I'm proud that God
- 33:26Speaker 2: showed me how to do this because he told me,
- 33:28Speaker 2: raise y'all different. All the glory go to God. You
- 33:31Speaker 2: know why? Because I didn't understand, but he told me,
- 33:35Speaker 2: he said, raise your children different. I got a lot
- 33:37Speaker 2: of criticism from people talking running out, but I didn't care.
- 33:41Speaker 2: He had told me said raise them different. I don't
- 33:43Speaker 2: want them doing what other folks doing. I don't want
- 33:45Speaker 2: them running over everybody house and spending night here and there.
- 33:49Speaker 2: So yes, I am proud that I was able to
- 33:52Speaker 2: listen and to do what the Lord had told me
- 33:55Speaker 2: because I wasn't season like I am now, Mamie. I
- 33:57Speaker 2: was twenty three when I had you, so I'm still
- 34:01Speaker 2: a baby myself. I'm learning because you were my first job,
- 34:04Speaker 2: and I'm like, God, I don't know what to do.
- 34:06Speaker 2: You got to help me. I'm real loft. So I
- 34:09Speaker 2: just used to always talk to him about what and
- 34:11Speaker 2: how he wanted me to do things. So I thank
- 34:14Speaker 2: God for a listening ear and to be able to
- 34:16Speaker 2: raise y'all according to what he had told me.
- 34:19Speaker 1: So, Mama. In closing, what does healing means to Mama Mary?
- 34:24Speaker 2: Healing means to Mama Mary is to sit down and
- 34:28Speaker 2: to focus and to enjoy some of the things you
- 34:31Speaker 2: want in life. I've seen other people enjoy a thing. Now.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I'm thankful that I can enjoy some of the things
- 34:38Speaker 2: in life that I've always wanted to do. But I'm
- 34:41Speaker 2: glad that I put it on hold. So now I
- 34:44Speaker 2: know that when I'm enjoying it, I'm really enjoying it
- 34:47Speaker 2: because I waited.
- 34:49Speaker 1: So it sounds like that healing for you is in
- 34:53Speaker 1: some way recovering.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Yes, uh huh, yes, now putting my puzzle. I have
- 34:58Speaker 2: a puzzle on the table. I'm putting piec and daily
- 35:01Speaker 2: the things that I like to do. And really, Jay,
- 35:04Speaker 2: I'm trying to find out what I like to do.
- 35:06Speaker 2: I love loving on people, for one thing, So it's
- 35:09Speaker 2: now I'm just learning. God, what do I like?
- 35:13Speaker 1: You know?
- 35:13Speaker 2: And like you asked me one day, he asked me,
- 35:16Speaker 2: I don't know what, Mama, what you like to do?
- 35:18Speaker 2: I said, oh, we ja that was a big course.
- 35:22Speaker 2: No I did because I didn't even know what to say.
- 35:25Speaker 2: I said, what do you like? Mayor? I'm very easy.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I like I'm simple. It's somethings. Some people like what
- 35:35Speaker 2: they like, but I'm just simple. Jan Sometimes just a
- 35:40Speaker 2: a cup of coffee hot, I'm happy with that piece
- 35:44Speaker 2: of chocolate cake. I love fish, J know, I love fishing.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Greens.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I love fish and I love green. Just a nice
- 35:50Speaker 2: good meal, just on the phone, praying with somebody. I
- 35:54Speaker 2: love to pray for people. Man, I love my husband.
- 35:57Speaker 2: That got used to it now because I get put
- 36:00Speaker 2: the morning bus out of head by p time. I
- 36:02Speaker 2: always time to pray, he' said. Okay, so they get
- 36:05Speaker 2: used to it. So yeah, that's where we live. And
- 36:08Speaker 2: one day we didn't do it, and I was telling him, Hey,
- 36:10Speaker 2: I can't live like this. I don't know why people
- 36:13Speaker 2: do it.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Jay.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I love getting up, giving God praise and honor because
- 36:18Speaker 2: it means so much. But yeah, I'm happy. I love
- 36:22Speaker 2: being off. Well, Mama, I'm because I want to be
- 36:24Speaker 2: and spend some time with you now.
- 36:26Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, because you was able to come on and
- 36:28Speaker 1: sit on the COUCHI dad. Yes, we finally got you. Yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 1: we finally got you. We've been waiting and been asking,
- 36:34Speaker 1: you've been dodging. So Mama, I won't say as a son,
- 36:41Speaker 1: thank you for not giving up on me, thank you
- 36:47Speaker 1: for loving me, because most people don't know the second
- 36:52Speaker 1: suicide attempt. You was the last person I talked to
- 36:56Speaker 1: my Lord, and you asked me not to and I
- 37:00Speaker 1: did and God didn't let it succeed. And I often
- 37:08Speaker 1: go back and forth like, man, I just couldn't imagine
- 37:12Speaker 1: what that weight would be like to go out to
- 37:16Speaker 1: a grade, or to look at a yearn and to
- 37:19Speaker 1: see the remains of your child. You know, the other
- 37:23Speaker 1: day a lady DM me and she said, thank you
- 37:27Speaker 1: for the work you do, doctor j because my son
- 37:29Speaker 1: took his life and so only God knew that you
- 37:34Speaker 1: can raise me, Mama, because it took somebody strong. And
- 37:40Speaker 1: I'm not comparing myself to Jesus, folks, but it's like
- 37:43Speaker 1: the song Mary that you know who you was carrying,
- 37:46Speaker 1: that you know who you was birthday, and I never
- 37:49Speaker 1: forget all the things I've gone through and having to
- 37:53Speaker 1: go through and the price I've had to pay, and
- 37:56Speaker 1: you telling me, baby, I'm sorry, but you'll call and
- 38:00Speaker 1: and it's just what comes with it. But you're made
- 38:04Speaker 1: for it. And I don't know any other woman that
- 38:09Speaker 1: could have done what you did after what you had
- 38:12Speaker 1: gone through for your children, So that I want to
- 38:15Speaker 1: say thank you and happy birthday because I don't know
- 38:20Speaker 1: any other mothers, but on this side of heaven, you
- 38:24Speaker 1: are one of the best woman, not just my mother
- 38:28Speaker 1: but woman. I watch you navigate so much, Mom, I
- 38:35Speaker 1: watch you navigate so much when you and Daddy divorced,
- 38:39Speaker 1: I watch you go through criticism. I watch you be
- 38:41Speaker 1: talked about and you kept your head up and you
- 38:44Speaker 1: didn't say nothing. And sometimes I wish that you didn't
- 38:52Speaker 1: have to be strong. So I'm glad that you get
- 38:56Speaker 1: the rest now and you get to see the fruit
- 39:03Speaker 1: of your tree, because so many mothers don't get to
- 39:06Speaker 1: see that because they're still trying to mother them. And
- 39:10Speaker 1: so I just want to say, I love you to
- 39:12Speaker 1: the moon and back. You my girl, And now that
- 39:15Speaker 1: I'm in my forties, I can call your team because
- 39:18Speaker 1: you wouldn't let us call your team when we were teenagers,
- 39:20Speaker 1: because that's a nickname team. So thank you, Mama for
- 39:24Speaker 1: joining the healing circle. I love you babies, you too,
- 39:28Speaker 1: have a happy birthday. Don't drink too much wine, Mama, y'all.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Mama like wine, she loved, she loved. Good. Glass up
- 39:35Speaker 1: sweet wine. Rose. Yeah, you get her bottle rose. She
- 39:40Speaker 1: gonna turn up. Matter of fact, we got a bottle
- 39:41Speaker 1: of rose for you here today for your birthday. Don't
- 39:45Speaker 1: drink too much because I don't want you and Charlie
- 39:47Speaker 1: over there trying to bring no kids in. Now again, y'all, listen, man,
- 39:53Speaker 1: this has been healing, after the healing after show, healing,
- 39:57Speaker 1: after the episode. I didn't know my mama was gonna
- 39:59Speaker 1: come on, but I'm excited that she joined us. Many
- 40:03Speaker 1: of y'all have been asking me bring Mama Mary on
- 40:05Speaker 1: to the show. This was not planned, and I think
- 40:08Speaker 1: things are better for Mama when they're not playing. Y'all
- 40:11Speaker 1: take these gems because we often don't get a chance
- 40:15Speaker 1: to hear from the elders, and I'm glad that she's
- 40:17Speaker 1: still here to pour into us. And I say this
- 40:20Speaker 1: to everyone that is watching. Listen, know that your life
- 40:25Speaker 1: is worth living, no matter where you are, no matter
- 40:28Speaker 1: what you're going through. And until next time, I'm Doctor J.
