Richmond International Airport just debuted a stunning 24-foot art piece called “Travel Companions,” featuring hummingbirds, Virginia’s state tree, and flower — all designed by artist Matthew Mazzotta, known for his airport installations like Tampa’s flamingo. Created over two years with input from community members, the artwork celebrates nature, culture, and diversity. Passengers can soon vote to name the birds — Henry (after Patrick Henry) or Hummie Mae (inspired by a local zoo hippo).
