- 0:08SPEAKER_04: Let's clean.
- 0:08SPEAKER_04: Let's clean up.
- 0:17SPEAKER_04: Everyone in the wind.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: It's two and a half hours.
- 0:25SPEAKER_04: Every film is too long.
- 0:26SPEAKER_01: Every film is too long.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Especially now.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Every film is a little bit.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: If it came out now, it'd be so much more light.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: Thanks, man.
- 0:35SPEAKER_01: Thanks for having me.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: It's been a while, but like how have you been?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: I'm all right.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Busy.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're very busy at the moment.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you're doing everything at the moment.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Um launch your own podcast, didn't you?
- 0:46SPEAKER_04: Yes, on Audible.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:48SPEAKER_04: Me and Guzz Carm we got a uh a podcast called Guzz and Kyle Will Not Survive.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:53SPEAKER_04: Um, and it's like a survival podcast.
- 0:55SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 0:55SPEAKER_04: Where they put us in different scenarios and then we gotta talk through what we do to get out of them.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's fun.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: And uh see how many times we die.
- 1:04SPEAKER_04: Basically.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: How many have you done so far?
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: We've done six.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: Six, are you?
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, we've done a full uh series.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's a series.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: It's like doing it as a series.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, cool.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's great.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and it's just purely on Audible.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, great.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's really interesting.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: I I love that when they're audible, like go and do like those individual.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and we got we did it all in all in three days.
- 1:25SPEAKER_04: Two records, two records a day, yeah.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, actually, yes, yeah, it's not too bad.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: How many how long are the episodes?
- 1:30SPEAKER_04: I mean, I don't know what they've cut them down to, but we were they were about an hour and a half when we were doing them.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: Geez.
- 1:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:36SPEAKER_04: But they I mean they had to cut them down.
- 1:37SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of stuff in there.
- 1:39SPEAKER_04: It's unusual.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:43SPEAKER_01: Um, so what was who came up with the premise for that?
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Was that like a thing that you you guys pitched or did you?
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: No, not all.
- 1:49SPEAKER_04: Um, this company called Expectation.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:51SPEAKER_04: Um, they're the same people that made Big Narcy's show and Gilligan's uh latest show.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: And I've been working with them for a while.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:59SPEAKER_04: Um on different bits here and there.
- 2:01SPEAKER_04: And then we got this.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Um, and it was uh idea from them.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, great.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: And then you're also in um yeah, I saw a trailer for a film that you've got coming up that looks insane, but the best way Wicker.
- 2:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, Wicker's out in October.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:17SPEAKER_04: Um that looks crazy, but like great.
- 2:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:20SPEAKER_04: I think it's gonna be really good.
- 2:21SPEAKER_04: Well, I know it's gonna be really good.
- 2:22SPEAKER_04: I saw it at Sundance, yeah.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which must have been amazing.
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: It was the first time going Sundance?
- 2:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: It's the first time that anyone had seen it.
- 2:29SPEAKER_04: Oh, um, so I mean, even some of the main casts hadn't seen it.
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: Oh, really?
- 2:34SPEAKER_04: Um, I think Olivia had seen it once.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: She said, but she'd watched it on her iPad.
- 2:38SPEAKER_04: So seeing it like on a big difference, big screen at Sundance, like in front of I don't know how many people fit in that theatre.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: I think it was close to a thousand.
- 2:47SPEAKER_04: But um, yeah, it was.
- 2:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's amazing.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:50SPEAKER_04: That's actually a while ago that you saw it then.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, I saw it in January, but it we filmed it in October 2024.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Whoa.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's that's taking a while then.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: But like, yeah, I guess it's like, is it a lot of them like effects that they had to put in, or is it just like I don't think there's that that many effects.
- 3:06SPEAKER_04: There's quite like quite a bit, but not as much as like ghosts.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:09SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 3:10SPEAKER_04: Ghosts is full of the effect.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: Which you've also got coming out soon.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: Which is also got the same week.
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: Was that?
- 3:16SPEAKER_04: It's coming out the same week, yeah.
- 3:18SPEAKER_04: Oh, the same week.
- 3:20SPEAKER_04: What a what a week for you.
- 3:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, man.
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: That's both they're both coming out.
- 3:24SPEAKER_04: I think uh I think Wicker's 23rd and Ghosts is the 30th.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 3:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 3:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, man.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:33SPEAKER_01: So you got a busy October.
- 3:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:35SPEAKER_04: Well, busy September, like doing promo and all that stuff.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: But yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Well, are you are you working on anything else at the moment you can say, or do you think it's a good thing?
- 3:44SPEAKER_04: Um just cool story, bro, really.
- 3:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, just such a fun show.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I I love that because I I used to do impro myself as well.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: And like I did improv for years, and then like uh just so just seeing like that as a premise is just such a fun.
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, it is.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: And you've got all the all everyone I love in it as well.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: You've got Graham Alola.
- 4:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: Emma, you were saying.
- 4:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 4:06SPEAKER_04: And we're doing um we're doing three nights at the fringe next week, and then we're doing uh we're back on tour in October.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 4:12SPEAKER_04: We start the tour again, 6th of October in Leeds.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, nice.
- 4:15SPEAKER_04: And then we've got yeah, a um a month of that.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: A month?
- 4:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's great.
- 4:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Well, you really are gonna be busy.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but that's what I like it all.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm trying to think of the last time.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: So last time I saw you do improv, it wasn't even a cool story, bro.
- 4:32SPEAKER_01: It was like I want to say like three years ago.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: And I was teching a show that you did with uh who was on it.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Amy Annette was running it, and it was in Edinburgh.
- 4:46SPEAKER_01: And you won't even you probably don't even remember, it was a year, it was like a few years back.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: But it was like uh Patty Harrison, uh uh Mary Beth Barone, and like Oh, uh and Tessa did it.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Tessa was on it, yeah, that's right.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember what was that?
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: That was um I can't remember what the actual show was.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: That was uh Assembly.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, that was a really fun show though.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I remember that.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: Because I remember like afterwards I took a picture of it and you were like, you like you were like, oh, can you email me that picture?
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah Did I get it?
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: Oh right, and then I do anything with it?
- 5:24SPEAKER_01: I think you post it.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Oh nice.
- 5:26SPEAKER_01: That's that's well, job done.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: No, I haven't that that was the last time I saw you do improv though.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 5:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think that was the year I'd started Cool Story Bra.
- 5:36SPEAKER_01: Oh, was it?
- 5:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: Oh, cool.
- 5:37SPEAKER_04: I think that was the first year we did it.
- 5:39SPEAKER_04: Nice.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: Because I I've always seen you like around at like I used to see you around at like 21 Soho a lot.
- 5:45SPEAKER_03: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 5:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because that's where I think that's where I first met you.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 5:51SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't even know if you remember, but like yeah, like it was No, I don't.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:57SPEAKER_04: But um I remember like because 21 Soho when it came about, it was like, oh, this is a new place to and you can work there in the day.
- 6:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:04SPEAKER_04: And then they do shows at night, and and people were always having birthdays and that's the thing.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: I used to always see it with the birthdays.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I remember that.
- 6:12SPEAKER_01: And then like uh it was would have been Stevie's uh party as well.
- 6:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, Stevie had a party there.
- 6:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Ashton B had a party.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Ashton B's party, yeah, yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_01: There was loads of stuff there.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's great.
- 6:23SPEAKER_01: Jeez, completely forgot about so many of those things.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: But yeah.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: So yeah, I kind of kind of ran into you from that, and then like um, but yeah.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: Um and then yeah, I haven't seen you in a while though.
- 6:35SPEAKER_01: It's been a while, but then you've been like so busy, and then I've also like taken a completely different career shift into like producing for podcasts and stuff now.
- 6:44SPEAKER_01: So like it's very different to what I used to do.
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: And I don't I don't tend to run into people anymore.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 6:49SPEAKER_04: Because you're down in this basement.
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: Literally, I just like if I run into people, it's like I need to get them on this now.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 6:55SPEAKER_01: Or it used to be like, um, do you know those do you know the show Glue Factory?
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: No, I don't.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: It's another podcast and run by like it was Olga Cocker, Milo Edwards.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Uh they used to do a show here, like so they used to produce a show here, and it would like they used to get everyone in just like constantly.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Didn't get me.
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: I think they've probably tried.
- 7:13SPEAKER_01: Interest him.
- 7:14SPEAKER_04: Interest him.
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: They would have reached out, I guarantee I can almost guarantee.
- 7:21SPEAKER_01: At some point.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: Good.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: But yeah, um, so it's been a while, but yeah, uh glad to hear you're doing well.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, and you got like I'm excited to see like what Ghost is gonna be like.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: I'm so Yeah, it's exciting.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's really exciting.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: And you've got like such a huge fan base for that, haven't you?
- 7:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 7:39SPEAKER_04: People are really excited about it.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:41SPEAKER_04: But not a lot of people, like, not I mean, compared to how many fans there are, yeah.
- 7:47SPEAKER_04: Not that many people know about the film or know that the film's coming out, or like that we even did one.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: That's kind of odd because it feels like it's I've seen it around everywhere.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of people who are like, oh my gosh, love love goes so much, like when are you bringing it back?
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: And I was like, Oh, there's a film coming out.
- 8:03SPEAKER_04: And they're like, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:05SPEAKER_04: And yeah, I just hope that you do more.
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: And I'm like, no, I just said there's a film coming.
- 8:10SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I wish you like?
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: I I wish would come back, and I know, like, because it's one of my favourite shows of all time, and it's Stathless Flats.
- 8:17SPEAKER_01: Same.
- 8:18SPEAKER_01: It's one of my favourite things ever, and it's because it's so I'm I'm a North Londoner, I'm Greek.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 8:24SPEAKER_01: I really and I used to work at estate agents.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: I know that world so well, and it's so accurate to like everything about it.
- 8:32SPEAKER_01: It's so weird.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: Did you work at a family-owned uh it was a family owned one?
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: It wasn't my family, but it was a family-owned one, and it was just yeah, it was very accurate.
- 8:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I just saw that I missed that, man.
- 8:44SPEAKER_04: I missed that a lot.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was the first time I came across like I like I like came across you, and it was like you were so good in it.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: It was such a funny show.
- 8:52SPEAKER_01: Thank you, man.
- 8:53SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, I really loved that.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 8:55SPEAKER_01: Like the Deadpan, the Deadpan humour from you was so good.
- 8:59SPEAKER_04: Like, yeah.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: No, I missed it.
- 9:02SPEAKER_04: I miss um I miss everything about that show.
- 9:04SPEAKER_04: I miss playing Dean, I miss being with like hanging out with those guys.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's such a great cast.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:10SPEAKER_01: Everyone's so good at it.
- 9:11SPEAKER_01: Like, there's not yeah, like everyone is everyone's like perfectly played.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: And like it's been a it's been a long time since it's been on now.
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, we filmed in 2018.
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:25SPEAKER_04: And it came out 2019, I think that's right.
- 9:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:28SPEAKER_04: Or it might have been the other way around.
- 9:29SPEAKER_04: It might have been we filmed in 2017, it came out 2018.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 9:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Well the last the last series.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: No, the first series.
- 9:34SPEAKER_04: Oh, the first, yeah, I was gonna say.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: The last series was 2022.
- 9:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, something like that.
- 9:41SPEAKER_01: It was like it but it just it just feels like it's been ages.
- 9:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: And like, I remember the pandemic video as well, like the one that you put, like you were.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Um lockdown episode.
- 9:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was that was great.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: And I was like, oh, please bring it back for more.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:57SPEAKER_01: It was just uh, yeah, I don't know, there was something so it was just such a world that I I knew, and just even though it's so ridiculous, I was just like, no, like he like was it was it all Jamie that wrote?
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: Did he write everything?
- 10:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, he did, yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: I think um Robert Popper was involved in the writing in the first series, but um from second series onwards it was all Jamie, yeah.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, yeah.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: That's just yeah.
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's great.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: Do you even do you have any like like fond memories of it that you can think of?
- 10:30SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, loads.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: Everything.
- 10:31SPEAKER_04: I mean, every day on that set was so much fun.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: Um the awards show that we shot.
- 10:41SPEAKER_04: One of the best.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: That was so funny that whole day.
- 10:43SPEAKER_04: Oh my god.
- 10:44SPEAKER_04: The thing is, it took like, I think it was two and a half days of filming.
- 10:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:48SPEAKER_04: But because we were, it was all like blacked out windows and stuff, so we didn't know what time of day it was until you go outside and it's like in the middle of the day and it's so bright, and you're like, oh yeah, I forgot.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Because you're sort of just like trapped in the thing because it's obviously meant to look like nighttime.
- 11:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 11:01SPEAKER_04: Um, but getting like everyone in the room to chew-too and gum at the same time and record that for like 20 minutes was insane.
- 11:10SPEAKER_04: Um, and then we had like a similar experience when we went to the football when we did the football episode, and we were like on the pitches and just messing about and kicking ball, and then realizing the next day that we're not trained athletes, and kicking the ball around for three hours is really gonna take its toll on your body, and that's exactly what happens.
- 11:32SPEAKER_04: Um and then what else?
- 11:34SPEAKER_04: We had the um when all the estate agents go to the fun fair.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: It's that insane, it's just like an insane, like every every episode was just like it's absolutely insane.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Like, there's no great, like a really great time.
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and then it's just like introducing me to a load of people.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Like, that's where I first I think that's where I first saw Sunil in the hotel.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, was in the football episode on Nick Mohammed in the estate agents one uh awards show.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it was like there's so many, yeah.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: I I discovered so many people through that.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: And just yeah, oh, I loved it so much.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: I really wish.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: Do you think it will ever come back?
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: I have no idea.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: I hope so.
- 12:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:13SPEAKER_04: But also I know that Jamie's working on a thousand different things.
- 12:16SPEAKER_04: I know, and he's really busy.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: You're all so busy, and just like and also that was his way in to the industry, and I feel like he wanted to show that like it wasn't just that because he worked on that for 10 years, yeah.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: Like the um the Blap, I think, came out in 2013.
- 12:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a long time ago.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then the last series came out in 2023.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: Mad.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: So it was 10 years of stat.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: That's mad.
- 12:40SPEAKER_04: So obviously, like he needs an opportunity to do something else.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: And he did that with his Netflix show.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: Um, but I think he's still got so much more.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, for sure.
- 12:49SPEAKER_01: He's doing so much now.
- 12:50SPEAKER_01: Like I just see him like every so often I'll just be watching a film and just suddenly appear in it.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: I'm just like Yeah, yeah.
- 12:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's one of those kinds of things.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:57SPEAKER_04: Just popping up in films everywhere.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:59SPEAKER_04: I saw him at Sundance as well.
- 13:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, did you?
- 13:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: What was he in?
- 13:03SPEAKER_04: Because he's in the Charlie XAX film.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: Boss.
- 13:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: I still haven't seen it.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: I I've seen the clip of him.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: I've seen a clip of him in it.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: It's just very funny.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 13:11SPEAKER_01: It always is.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: It always is, yeah.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, so like what uh yeah, so what I've brought you on here to talk about is uh you're here to defend the movie uh Man on Fire, which is the two so just to clarify to people, it's the 2004 film, not the TV show remake that they did.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, that the new one, isn't it?
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, did you it came out like a year ago No, not a year ago, but like maybe six months ago?
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Oh right.
- 13:39SPEAKER_01: I watched it, already forgotten like everything about it.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: It's kind of different, it's quite different, yeah, but it was nowhere near as good as this film.
- 13:47SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 13:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and I don't know if anyone's talking about it.
- 13:51SPEAKER_01: Nobody was talking about it, that's the thing.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Like it came out it was on Netflix.
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 13:55SPEAKER_01: It just came and went.
- 13:56SPEAKER_03: Oh wow.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: Came and went like almost instantly.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: And it looked like it was expensive.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: It looked like and it like the reviews were sort of like the same level as this as well.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 14:09SPEAKER_01: But this is very different.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: This is so much more interesting.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Like, I rewatched this for the first time in a while uh for this uh podcast, and it's so much better than I remember it being.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: I can't believe it needs uh defended.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:22SPEAKER_01: So here's the thing it's on so on Rotten Tomatoes, it's got uh 39% from the critics, which is insanely low.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Audience score, 89%.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: Huge difference.
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: I've never seen such a difference.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:37SPEAKER_01: It's crazy.
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: Like, so like what is what is your history with it?
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Did you see it when it came out?
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Did you see it like that?
- 14:44SPEAKER_04: I don't think I saw it in the in the movie.
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: When did it come out?
- 14:47SPEAKER_04: 2004.
- 14:48SPEAKER_04: 2004, yeah.
- 14:51SPEAKER_04: 2004, I was uh in year ten.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: So I don't really think I don't think I was I don't think I saw it in the cinema.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: To be honest, the only thing I remember seeing in the cinema at that age was the others.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: That's that was like 2001.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: That's the only thing I can remember seeing in the cinema when I was.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: I mean, in my head I was, yeah, but like I can't actually remember like I mean I guess the reason I remember that one was because it was someone's birthday and then it was a big event.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: And then we walked back from Dagenham View.
- 15:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: We walked to I think we walked to Becton.
- 15:33SPEAKER_04: I think like, and that's a long walk.
- 15:36SPEAKER_04: How long is that?
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: That's probably like that's over an hour.
- 15:40SPEAKER_04: Okay, yeah, that is a long walk.
- 15:42SPEAKER_04: Um, and we were like, I don't know, whatever age we were when the others came out, like Yeah, like over like 2002 or something like that, yeah.
- 15:51SPEAKER_04: And um, I don't know why we did that.
- 15:54SPEAKER_04: Maybe we couldn't afford to get a bus.
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:56SPEAKER_04: But um just enough to go to the cinema.
- 15:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 15:59SPEAKER_04: It is it was like that, I guess.
- 16:01SPEAKER_04: But I can't remember, I don't really remember going to the cinema.
- 16:05SPEAKER_04: I remember going to the cinema a lot when I was in drama school.
- 16:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, right, yeah.
- 16:08SPEAKER_04: Well, I guess that makes sense.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but like between I mean I must have.
- 16:12SPEAKER_04: But anyway, I think I I don't I have a lot of memories of watching this film at home.
- 16:19SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: There was a there was a stage where it was like always on.
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: Like I don't remember it ever being on.
- 16:25SPEAKER_04: I think like BBC One had it on.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: I mean it does seem like one of those kind of like BBC or like maybe like ITV2 sort of things where it's just like you know, they would just show it every once every two weeks or something like that.
- 16:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: Something like that.
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: Um and I just loved it.
- 16:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:40SPEAKER_04: I think it's such a great film.
- 16:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:42SPEAKER_01: I couldn't believe it was on the list.
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: This is the thing.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: I I put it on this because I was like, this seems like such an outlier compared to a lot of those, the way you're gonna say I expect I feel one thing I think about this is like if it came out now, the rating will be so much higher.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:56SPEAKER_04: Actually, I'd go as far as to say it's in my top three films.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: Top three?
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: Okay, what are your other two?
- 17:02SPEAKER_04: Um, okay, well, it's it's not I'm not saying that these are my favourite films.
- 17:08SPEAKER_04: I'm saying these are my top three just because of like I guess what they mean to me.
- 17:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, exactly.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:17SPEAKER_04: Um Crash and Tiger Hidden Dragon.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Classic.
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: Rock and Roller.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: Rock and Roller?
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's not that's one I wouldn't expect.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: Great film.
- 17:26SPEAKER_01: Just not one I expect.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: It's not one I heard anyone talk about ever.
- 17:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love that film.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:32SPEAKER_04: I've seen I've probably seen that film the most more than anything else.
- 17:35SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 17:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:36unknown: Wow.
- 17:37SPEAKER_04: I had it on DVD.
- 17:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: Um, and I just never took it out.
- 17:41SPEAKER_04: Interesting.
- 17:42SPEAKER_04: So I just I'll just play it all the time.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: You know, I've got to check what rock and roll is rating is now.
- 17:46SPEAKER_04: Yes, please.
- 17:49SPEAKER_01: What do you think it is?
- 17:50SPEAKER_04: Um I reckon it's lower than Man on Fire.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: Do you think so?
- 17:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: 60.
- 17:57SPEAKER_04: 60 on Rotten Tomorrow?
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 17:59SPEAKER_01: 60.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: So it's like just about.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Where is that audience or critics?
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: Critics.
- 18:03SPEAKER_01: So it's just about fresh on there.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's just gone into the fresh rating on there.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: Oh wow.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: So it's like doesn't classify it doesn't qualify for this.
- 18:10SPEAKER_04: So why do they hate Man on Fire so much?
- 18:11SPEAKER_04: What's the problem?
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: So what people were saying, like, the critics are like, it's just too long.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: Which it's two and a half hours.
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: Every film's too long.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: Every film is too long.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: Especially now.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Every film is too long.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: This is what I mean about like, if it came out now, it'd be so much more liked by critics.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Because like now people are used to those two and a half hour action films.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: Two and a half hours nothing now.
- 18:33SPEAKER_01: Every film, so how long's a hateful eight?
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Oh hateful eight's gotta be like two and a half hours?
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: It's like th that's gotta be like three and a half.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: It's so boring as well.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: I can't stand that movie.
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: I cannot stand that movie.
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: It's like three.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: It feels longer.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: It feels much longer.
- 18:51SPEAKER_01: It feels so much longer.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 18:54SPEAKER_01: Speaking of speaking of which, the thing, one of the things I read about Man on Fire was that um the writer of it um wrote this because he saw he went into a video shop uh and asked uh someone who was working there who ended up being Quentin Tarantino, who was working in the video shop at the time.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: He's like, what film should I uh rent?
- 19:16SPEAKER_01: And he recommended the original version of this.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: And because of that, he he grew to love the film.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: And then he went on to read it.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Like some like yeah 80s version, apparently.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: Oh really?
- 19:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I've I've no idea.
- 19:31SPEAKER_01: It's so apparently it was like set in like the original was like set in Italy as opposed to Mexico.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: Um I guess it's not called man.
- 19:42SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's not called man on the case.
- 19:43SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, I get it.
- 19:44SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, no, it is 1987 it came out.
- 19:47SPEAKER_04: 1987?
- 19:48SPEAKER_01: Uh it's got Joe Pesci in it.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: Well as a lead.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: No, no.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: He's gotta be like the I reckon he's Joe Pesci.
- 19:59SPEAKER_01: Maybe yeah, he's the Christopher Walken character.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Oh god.
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: Which makes sense.
- 20:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: I I yeah.
- 20:05SPEAKER_01: This one is 92 minutes.
- 20:08SPEAKER_04: See that's what films that's what films used to be.
- 20:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: What every film was 90 minutes.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, every film was 90 minutes and people loved it.
- 20:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: People were so happy, and people wanted to go back to that as well.
- 20:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 20:19SPEAKER_01: But like the superhero movie changed that.
- 20:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: That's what changed everything.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: I actually can't think of the last time I went to the cinema that wasn't like a screening or a preview.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 20:31SPEAKER_00: I can't think of the last film I saw in the cinema.
- 20:34SPEAKER_00: Uh, hang on.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: Um I went and saw One Battle After Another.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: Did you like that?
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: When did that come out?
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Uh Christmas time?
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: That might be the last time I went to the cinema.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: It's been a while.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess you're going to like other things though.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: I'm going to watching like you're going to screening, so it's like a little bit different.
- 20:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that might be the last time.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:01SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 21:03SPEAKER_01: You you really don't seem like you're someone who goes to films a lot though.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Hang on, no.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: I went to some I went to see something in May.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: What came out in May?
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Did you go?
- 21:14SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to base it now based on your three favourites.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: To think of what came out around.
- 21:19SPEAKER_04: I went to see.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: I cannot remember.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: I remember what cinema it was.
- 21:26SPEAKER_04: It was a forest cinema, I know some stuff.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 21:29SPEAKER_00: And it would have been around May time.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: I don't know what was out around May.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: It was lit it was just after the um show I did.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Because I remember we did a it was a day I got the cool story bro um pictures back.
- 22:09SPEAKER_00: Oh from from when we did the show.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, it was twenty third?
- 22:22SPEAKER_00: Was it was it Mandalorian?
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: No uh Obsession?
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: No.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Sheep Detectives?
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: No, but I'd love to see that.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: I thought it's great.
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: I'd love to get down there.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: These are like the ones that came out around then.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: I have no idea what you saw.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: No, me neither.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: That's fascinating.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: It can't have been great if you can't even you can't remember it at all.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: It might have been.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: It might have been, who knows?
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: It could have been, yeah.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't I mean I cannot I cannot find it.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: But um That was the last time I went to the cinema.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: So you're not someone who goes a lot other than if you you're going to screenings, I guess, but like so you not like a big film fan outside of like when you're making stuff then?
- 23:14SPEAKER_04: I think I am.
- 23:15SPEAKER_04: I would say I am, but then this doesn't prove I am.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, I think it was um what was that film with uh Theo James and Aaron Taylor Johnson about the bombs.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: Oh I don't know.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Saffron Hawkins in it.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Um there's the monkey.
- 23:44SPEAKER_00: No.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: Rosemead?
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: No.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Uh Fuse.
- 23:49SPEAKER_01: Fuse Fuse.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, I don't know this at all.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: It was Fuse.
- 23:52SPEAKER_04: I've never heard of it.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: When did Fuse come out?
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: 3rd of April.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was that.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: That makes sense, yeah.
- 23:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: That track.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: I'm glad we got to the bottom of that one.
- 24:03SPEAKER_00: Did you enjoy it?
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:05SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was good.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Um Sky film, it says.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Sky?
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Sky.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, it was good.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: I did like that actually.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: Um Sam.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Sam.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: Uh what's his name?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: Sam Worthington.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: Fantastic.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah?
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Sam Wellington is the guy.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, he's the guy from um Avatar.
- 24:33SPEAKER_04: He's he was he's just great.
- 24:37SPEAKER_01: Do you know what's interesting about him, what people say about him, is that like he's the most fame, like he's in he's been in like so many like of the biggest films of all time, and people still can't remember him by name.
- 24:47SPEAKER_04: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: Which is really interesting because he's the lead in all of those like active films.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's true, because I was like Sam something.
- 24:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he's he was great in that film.
- 24:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's a I think he's a good actor.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: He is, really is.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: He's decent, yeah.
- 24:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: Um, but it's just interesting.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I wonder, like, it's just amazing, like, you can be in the you can be the lead in the biggest film of all time, and people can't remember.
- 25:09SPEAKER_01: But then like, and it just shows how like the world has changed in terms of the action star.
- 25:15SPEAKER_04: Everything I've seen him in it has been great.
- 25:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: But um, yeah, that was the last time I went to the cinema.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Uh, but do you watch stuff at home?
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: Are you watching stuff at home or are you just like no time?
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Um, I was watching Mayor of Kingstown.
- 25:34SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 25:35SPEAKER_04: Which I think is probably one of my favorite series of all time.
- 25:39SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 25:40SPEAKER_04: All time.
- 25:41SPEAKER_04: I think it is incredible.
- 25:44SPEAKER_01: See, I know that it's so it's Jeremy Renner, right?
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: I've heard very, very good things about it.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:49SPEAKER_01: I never got around to seeing it.
- 25:50SPEAKER_01: It's so good.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:52SPEAKER_04: I started watching it on the plane once because one of my friends is in it.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:55SPEAKER_04: Um, Toby Banteffer.
- 25:57SPEAKER_04: And I went, I can't remember where I was going, but I saw it come up on the screen on the plane.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh yeah, let's have a look.
- 26:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:07SPEAKER_04: And from the first 15 minutes, yeah.
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: Gripped.
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: Instantly.
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: I was like, yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Oh, I love when that happens.
- 26:14SPEAKER_04: All three episodes in one go.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:17SPEAKER_04: And then I was like, how do I find this?
- 26:19SPEAKER_04: And then downloaded to Paramount Plus.
- 26:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's the thing, you've got to find it, it's on Paramount Plus.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: It's like one of those things where you've got, okay, I gotta sign up for an account for this.
- 26:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I had to.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:28SPEAKER_04: Um, so I'm uh eagerly awaiting series five now.
- 26:32SPEAKER_01: Series, there's that many series.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: There was like two series.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: No, I had no idea there was that many series.
- 26:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah, man.
- 26:39SPEAKER_04: Okay, that makes yeah and the way four finished was so annoying.
- 26:42SPEAKER_04: Obviously, it was like deliberately, yeah.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: But I was like, oh, okay, going to the next episode, and they're like coming soon.
- 26:49SPEAKER_04: And I was like, what?
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: How can that be the end?
- 26:52SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's so annoying.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: Um how long's it been since it's been on?
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: Ages.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know, February, March?
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 27:00SPEAKER_01: So but they just finished filming series five.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Oh, so it's gonna be a while.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: So it probably is February, March, until that's really annoying.
- 27:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is.
- 27:10SPEAKER_04: But I'm ready.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:11SPEAKER_01: It's one of those again, that's like one of the things that's like happening so like you don't get it as much anymore where you've got like the big cliffhanger at the end of the series, and then you've got to wait another year, come around again, and like you people are talking about it.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: And yeah, I I do miss those days.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, everything has changed so much.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: It's really good, I'd recommend it.
- 27:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:31SPEAKER_01: Is it is it like is it like a mob show?
- 27:34SPEAKER_04: Am I um not really?
- 27:37SPEAKER_04: He's like, he plays a guy who's sort of like a fixer between the criminals and the police and the prisons.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 27:46SPEAKER_04: He just like sort of he's it kind of feels like he's a b uh like a bonds uh bell bondsman.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:54SPEAKER_04: But he's not.
- 27:55SPEAKER_04: He's like much more than that.
- 27:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: He sort of tries to keep the peace and everyone comes to him.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 28:02SPEAKER_04: Whether they're the police or the criminals or the the like uh government.
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:08SPEAKER_04: Like everyone goes through him.
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: Oh nice.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna watch it.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's great.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna watch it.
- 28:12unknown: Yeah.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: And then I'm gonna like be annoyed by the time I get to the end of the series and it's I've still got to wait months.
- 28:17SPEAKER_04: Well, there might be, um, it depends how quickly you get through it.
- 28:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:19SPEAKER_04: There are our episodes, so.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 28:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:22SPEAKER_01: And I don't have a lot of time.
- 28:24SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:25SPEAKER_04: So you'll probably get to it just as series five is starting.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: I can I have time for like one episode maybe every two days.
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 28:33unknown: Yeah.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: So it would take me a while.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:35SPEAKER_01: Um, okay, so like to talk about this film.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: Um, yes, do you do you so you didn't see it in the cinema, but do you remember when you first saw it then?
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: Can you don't remember when I first saw it, no?
- 28:45SPEAKER_01: But you've seen it a lot of times, you think.
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: Uh when's the last time you saw it?
- 28:49SPEAKER_01: Can you remember?
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: It's been a while.
- 28:52SPEAKER_04: There was uh I go to Barbados quite a lot.
- 28:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:57SPEAKER_04: Um see from your Insta stories.
- 28:59SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, that's where my family's from.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:01SPEAKER_04: And they have like American channels.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:06SPEAKER_04: Um, I think they've only got like two or three of their own channels.
- 29:10SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: And the rest is like American stuff.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: And there was one film channel that was doing like Denzel Week.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, sick.
- 29:17SPEAKER_04: And so like every evening from like seven, they're doing like a Denzel marathon until like 1 a.m.
- 29:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: That's great.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: Because he's just like he's done so many good films.
- 29:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:32SPEAKER_04: So um that would have been about a year ago, maybe.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: Okay, that's not too long.
- 29:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:38SPEAKER_01: Do you remember how well do you remember it?
- 29:40SPEAKER_04: I remember well, I've seen it a lot of times.
- 29:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 29:43SPEAKER_01: Because I hadn't seen it in years.
- 29:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 29:45SPEAKER_01: And I I can only remember like certain bits of it.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: But I just remember how good he was in it and how good Dakota Fanning was in it.
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: She was amazing.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: She's amazing.
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: Like, she's so young.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: And like, like from what I read, he was just like so in awe of how good she was that he like forgot he was acting half the time.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:01SPEAKER_01: He was just like watching her.
- 30:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, she was incredible.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:05SPEAKER_04: That was in the proper like peak of like she was in everything, yeah.
- 30:09SPEAKER_01: And yeah, there was always like a child act, she was like the child actor of the time.
- 30:13SPEAKER_01: And then her sister kind of took over a little bit.
- 30:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:16SPEAKER_01: Now her sister's kind of in so many more things, and you don't see Dakota as much.
- 30:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, like, because I didn't see her again until uh Equalizer.
- 30:26SPEAKER_01: Yes, yeah, which is Reunion for them.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's yeah, I didn't even think about that.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:31SPEAKER_01: Oh, and also another big action film.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: Um, but again, Equalizer, very well loved.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: I'd say it's on par with this.
- 30:40SPEAKER_01: Right, yeah, yeah.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: I'd say it's very similar.
- 30:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:43SPEAKER_04: I mean, I think I think Man on Fire is a better film.
- 30:46SPEAKER_01: I think so too.
- 30:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: But v equally as watchable.
- 30:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: And enjoyable.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's the thing.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: Like they're really the Man on Fire, I think, is like.
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to work out what what went wrong with the critics for them.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: And it's like people just say it's like too long or like it's too violent.
- 31:05SPEAKER_01: Too violent.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: Which is weird, because it's it Especially now, this is not too violent.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: No.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: This does not feel too violent.
- 31:12SPEAKER_01: No.
- 31:13SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: In hindsight, this doesn't this is not too violent.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: I've seen 300.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: There's been two of them.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: 300 was like two years after this as well.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: I think I don't think it I don't even think it's that violent.
- 31:25SPEAKER_01: No.
- 31:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:27SPEAKER_01: And people say it just had like so much more potential that it then it lived up to.
- 31:31SPEAKER_04: What else did they want to happen?
- 31:32SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: I like a review.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: There's a review like I can see right underneath that.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: It's stunning how wrong critics are about this.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:40SPEAKER_01: Uh yeah, it's weird.
- 31:43SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't miss the concluding title this year in viewers that Mexico City seen as nothing but a haven of murder and corruption for two hours.
- 31:51SPEAKER_01: It's actually a very special place.
- 31:53SPEAKER_04: Okay, sure.
- 31:54SPEAKER_04: If you're coming at it from that angle.
- 31:56unknown: Yeah.
- 31:56SPEAKER_04: Which is annoying.
- 31:58SPEAKER_04: But if that's the point that you want to make, then fine.
- 32:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:02SPEAKER_04: But I don't think everyone is coming from that angle.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: No, I don't think I also don't think that that's what they're going for with this movie.
- 32:08SPEAKER_01: I think that I don't think that's the point of this movie.
- 32:11SPEAKER_01: I think the point of this movie is But also didn't it have like, at the beginning, it doesn't have facts.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:17SPEAKER_01: So it's like true.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there's a lot of things that are true to this.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: There were a lot of kidnappings happening.
- 32:24SPEAKER_01: And yeah, so I don't think that like.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: Again, it can be it there can be a safe city.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: And there can still be kidnappings happening.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 32:33SPEAKER_01: I don't think that they were saying that there wasn't a safe place.
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: Mad.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 32:38SPEAKER_01: It was really weird.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: Like.
- 32:41SPEAKER_01: Uh I trying to see like good reviews from them.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: Uh oh, this is one thing that I will agree with them on is the camera work is very odd.
- 32:50SPEAKER_01: And I think it's just a product of his time.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: Because I was talking about uh what was the other film that I was talking about recently with this camera work?
- 32:58SPEAKER_01: It was Die Another Day.
- 33:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: The Bond film.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: And it had that choppy camera work.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: The one with Madonna in it.
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_01: It had that like in the action scenes, they did the choppy camera work that they did in this.
- 33:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: And it was like the early 2000s style where they would do like the high frame rate, but they couldn't match it, so it would just be really choppy.
- 33:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:17SPEAKER_01: And they seemed to love it around this time.
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: And then it just kind of just disappeared because the dig like digital just caught up.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: And then it's just very strange.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: But like that's the one thing about this that I'm like, yeah, I can see it.
- 33:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:30SPEAKER_01: But it's not in that much of the film.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: It's quite, it's more than you remember, I think.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 33:35SPEAKER_01: It was a lot.
- 33:36SPEAKER_01: It was quite a lot.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: It's in all the action scenes.
- 33:39SPEAKER_04: I remember it in the chase scene when the um when the car's chasing them and he's telling her to write down their registration.
- 33:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:49SPEAKER_00: And then I remember it when the um what's the name again?
- 33:57SPEAKER_01: Mark Anthony.
- 33:58SPEAKER_04: Mark Anthony.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: Which is also a wild casting choice.
- 34:00SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:01SPEAKER_04: I remember when he was in the church.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: I remember that was super choppy.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: But maybe, maybe it's in a lot.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: And I just think you just kind of like I guess you're gonna get used to it.
- 34:13SPEAKER_04: But it's um yeah, that's the I feel like a lot of Denzel films had that at a certain time.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:19SPEAKER_04: Like the um Taking Appell and 123.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: Yes, which is also a Tony Squat film.
- 34:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 34:24SPEAKER_04: So there's a lot of that going on.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Um that's another underrated uh film, I think.
- 34:31SPEAKER_04: I watched that recent I say recent.
- 34:33SPEAKER_04: I watched that probably.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: That might have been part of that same marathon.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: That would make sense.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:40SPEAKER_01: Like that's yeah, I I don't know.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Those those like early 2000s Denzel films are still great, even though he was he was doing a lot of action films.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: He must have been doing like two films a year or something.
- 34:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, for sure.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: Inside Man as well.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Oh, Inside Man and great.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: I watched that again for the like for the first time in ages, like a year ago.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: It just really holds up.
- 35:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, that that that's Spike Lee.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: That's a Spike Lee film, which is Clive Owen.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: Where is Clive Owen?
- 35:07SPEAKER_01: What's he up to?
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: This is the thing.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: I've Clive Owen.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: What's Clive Owen up to?
- 35:12SPEAKER_01: Clive Owen was one of the biggest stars of the time.
- 35:16SPEAKER_01: And then just completely disappeared.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: He's from Coventry.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: He is.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Why do you know that?
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: I know that because when I was booking my Coventry show, I was trying to look for celebrities from Coventry.
- 35:27SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: Because Guy's Carn wasn't available.
- 35:31SPEAKER_04: Um and then Clive Owen came up first, and I was like, what?
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: I don't know that.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: Well, he's just like what's the last So he did he did a film called Cleaner last year, but before that he hadn't done a film since 2020.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 35:48SPEAKER_01: That's really interesting.
- 35:49SPEAKER_00: Let's have a look at his personal life.
- 35:50SPEAKER_00: What's going on?
- 35:51SPEAKER_00: Personal life.
- 35:53SPEAKER_00: Or controversies.
- 35:56SPEAKER_00: Uh literally nothing.
- 35:59SPEAKER_00: He supports Liverpool.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: He's trying to repair Electric Palace Cinema in Essex.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: And he's been married since March 95.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: Clive Owen! Has he got Instagram?
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: You're gonna DM him.
- 36:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Clive, come back.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: Next time he's in Coventry.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: Clive Owen official.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: Is that him?
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: It says official.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: No, that's not him.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: But it says official.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: It's not even a blue tick.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: It doesn't just like.
- 36:28SPEAKER_01: That's a fan account.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: That's a fan account.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Happy New Year.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: Even they've given up.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: Happy New Year 2023.
- 36:35SPEAKER_01: Where is this guy, man?
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: You know what?
- 36:37SPEAKER_01: I reckon you could get him for the show.
- 36:38SPEAKER_01: I reckon he's not doesn't think he doesn't do anything.
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: I've got to get Clive Owen.
- 36:43SPEAKER_04: Someone must know him.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: Have you booked anyone for Coventry yet?
- 36:46SPEAKER_04: We did it already.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: We did it.
- 36:48SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry, done.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: We'd had Ah.
- 36:50SPEAKER_04: Ah Here Shah.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, great, yeah.
- 36:51SPEAKER_04: Which didn't make any sense.
- 36:53SPEAKER_04: I mean, sure, thanks for coming, but it's not any there's no reason that he should be doing Coventry.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: We had I A Hir Shah for um a comedy night.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Uh like it would have it would have it was the night of the England Argentina match.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: And he was messaging us like right up to the time, like, is it still happening because this match is gonna be on?
- 37:17SPEAKER_01: And then like he was in the green room watching it, and then he came out like right after England has scored.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: And he was like, guys, just to you just so you know, I've been watching I I've been like regretting this gig for a whole week.
- 37:30SPEAKER_04: Good start, strong start.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: It was so funny, it was so funny.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: It was just like the perfect because like everyone knew, like it was like everyone was in the same boat, right?
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: We were all just like checking phones, we were like, Yeah, we were like, we will let you know if someone scores.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: That happened when I was at the Biffers one year.
- 37:46SPEAKER_04: I can't remember what match it was, but England were playing and Dot Brown was hosting, and he had he had it on the lecten.
- 37:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, as he was hosting the Biffers.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, I hear walked out with his iPad and then put it down on stage, and he's like, Don't worry, I'm closing it.
- 38:05SPEAKER_04: Well, that's good to know what that um Clive Owen's probably potentially available.
- 38:09SPEAKER_04: I think more I'd expected him to be in like a Game of Thrones or something.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: You would you know what?
- 38:14SPEAKER_01: That would be perfect for him.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: One of those Game of Thrones spin-offs.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: Get him in that.
- 38:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, come on, guys.
- 38:19SPEAKER_04: I think we can do it.
- 38:20SPEAKER_04: I think we can make it happen for him.
- 38:21SPEAKER_04: I think we could probably fine.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: He's probably shooting like he's probably just shitting on his on his money, yeah.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: I bet he m I bet he made loads of money in the early 2000s and just like, yeah, I'm good.
- 38:31SPEAKER_04: Well, if he's doing that without cinema, then yeah.
- 38:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:33SPEAKER_04: Um, okay, well, um I'll find a way to get in touch.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: I think you I think you can.
- 38:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: Someone must know him.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: Someone you know must know him.
- 38:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:46SPEAKER_04: It feels like the sort of person that Ashlyn B would know.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: Or like Morgana Robinson.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: Do you know what?
- 38:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: That's exactly who would know him.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: You're so right there.
- 38:58SPEAKER_04: Gotta get in touch with Clive Home.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: No, I'm gonna clip this off and like put it out of there.
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: Someone knows Clive, come on.
- 39:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I have a word.
- 39:04SPEAKER_04: Drop him a message, say I want him to come and do my improv show.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: Who's the who's the person that's like you've most unexpected guest you've had on that show?
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: Definitely Lily Allen.
- 39:16SPEAKER_01: You had Lily Allen?
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:18SPEAKER_01: That's so funny.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: That's great.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: That's the one everyone's going, what?
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: The singer.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: No, the girl who went in Sainsbury's.
- 39:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Lily Allen came and did it.
- 39:28SPEAKER_04: That's so funny at Bush Hall.
- 39:30SPEAKER_01: She was great.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: Okay, great.
- 39:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: She was great.
- 39:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's a great venue for it as well.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to get more of those sort of guests.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: Um I'm working on it.
- 39:40SPEAKER_01: You've got to get Olivia.
- 39:43SPEAKER_04: Um I asked her once if she'd come and do the Norwich show, and her response was, Are you fucking mental?
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: That was it.
- 39:53SPEAKER_04: No context.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:54SPEAKER_04: Are you fucking mental?
- 39:55SPEAKER_04: Question mark.
- 39:57unknown: That's funny.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: And that's that seems like a response from her as well.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: I was like, oh, okay.
- 40:03SPEAKER_01: Well, never mind.
- 40:04SPEAKER_01: Cool, no, no, I was only joking.
- 40:05SPEAKER_01: No.
- 40:06SPEAKER_04: Um but she came to see it.
- 40:08SPEAKER_04: Oh, nice.
- 40:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:09SPEAKER_04: She came to the Nottingham show.
- 40:11SPEAKER_04: So she came.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: So she came.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: That's even worse if she'd come to that show.
- 40:15SPEAKER_04: No, she came to the Norwich show.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 40:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:19SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, right.
- 40:23SPEAKER_00: We're working on it.
- 40:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:25SPEAKER_00: Then Peter Dinklage, then Alexana Scott's guard, then Elizabeth De Bicky.
- 40:29SPEAKER_04: Um what?
- 40:30SPEAKER_01: Peter Dinklage, that's how you get Clive Owen into a Game of Thrones.
- 40:34SPEAKER_04: Ah, yes.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: Oh, it's coming together now.
- 40:36SPEAKER_04: There we go.
- 40:37SPEAKER_04: When I see him at the Wicker screening, yeah.
- 40:40SPEAKER_04: Wicker premiere.
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: I'll let it.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: Bring Clive as your guest.
- 40:44SPEAKER_04: I'll yeah, I'll do a shout-out to Clive.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: Okay, this is my shout out for Clive Owen to come as my guest to the Wicker uh premiere.
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: Um Clive, if you're watching and if you're available on the date, I'm not exactly sure of the date, but when I find out, I'll get my people to get in contact with your people.
- 41:01SPEAKER_04: Uh hope to see you there.
- 41:02SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna wear something sort of um burgundy-ish, so if you want to compliment me, you can.
- 41:08SPEAKER_04: Um and if you don't want to, that's also fine.
- 41:11SPEAKER_04: But um just a little reach out to know that you're okay.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: Thanks, mate.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: Five, please.
- 41:18SPEAKER_01: We need it, we need to make it happen.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: Um so back to this, like you you uh we haven't we've barely talked about the film at all, but it's like great, it's funny.
- 41:30SPEAKER_01: Mickey Rock's in it.
- 41:31SPEAKER_01: Mickey Rock, yeah.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: At a time where he was not doing anything.
- 41:35SPEAKER_04: I thought you were gonna say he wasn't doing any drugs.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: Oh no, he was he probably was.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: Um I would say so.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: I would say yeah.
- 41:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:44SPEAKER_01: Um This is right before Sin City, which was kind of his revival.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: But then I was looking at like what he'd done in the lead up to this, and it was just like just you know, B movie after B movie, just like things that you would have never heard of.
- 41:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 42:00SPEAKER_01: And then this, I guess this maybe this helped him get Sin City.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: And then yeah, from there his career took back off again, and then the wrestler.
- 42:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: He's and then Celebrity Big Brother.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: And then yeah.
- 42:12SPEAKER_04: And then back down.
- 42:13SPEAKER_01: And then back down again.
- 42:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like that's day one of Celebrity Big Brother, back down again.
- 42:17unknown: Yeah.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: Did you watch him on that?
- 42:20SPEAKER_04: No, but I saw the clips.
- 42:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:23SPEAKER_04: And um it's very interesting.
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:26SPEAKER_04: He's got a lot to say.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: He doesn't know when to sharp.
- 42:29SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 42:30SPEAKER_04: He doesn't know when to keep things in his head.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 42:33SPEAKER_04: And when to say them out loud.
- 42:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:36SPEAKER_01: He was also sleeping on the sofa in the living room because he had insomnia, which didn't make any sense because the lights were on in the living room.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 42:45SPEAKER_04: Maybe we don't know enough about insomnia.
- 42:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:47SPEAKER_04: But maybe it's more about how what what conditions you can stay awake in.
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: Maybe it's something to do with that.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: Where normal people go to stay awake, that's where he goes to sleep.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 42:59SPEAKER_01: I need to ask um Huge Davies about it, because he's the he's the only person I know with insomnia.
- 43:04SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:06SPEAKER_01: Gabby Bess has got insomnia insomnia.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: I didn't know Huge Davies had that.
- 43:11SPEAKER_01: He's got insomnia, which he he says was because he got cursed by his ex-girlfriend who was a witch.
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: Hmm.
- 43:19SPEAKER_04: Um, I think I got cursed by a witch, but I think it's gone now.
- 43:25SPEAKER_03: I had a block nose for about 10 years.
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: You had what?
- 43:26SPEAKER_04: A block nose for about 10.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: I kissed one girl and uh had a block nose for 10 years.
- 43:30SPEAKER_04: And you think she was a witch?
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:34SPEAKER_04: I mean, that's the only logical explanation for having a block nose.
- 43:38SPEAKER_04: For 10 years.
- 43:40SPEAKER_04: For 10 years straight, from the moment I from the moment I stopped talking to that girl until 10 years later, I had a block nose.
- 43:48SPEAKER_01: So you kissed her, then then did you get the block nose and then stopped talking to her, or did you get the did you stop talking to her and then?
- 43:54SPEAKER_04: No, we stopped we stopped talking, I don't know, a few weeks later, after we stopped seeing each other, and then block nose, 10 Years.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Well, bang.
- 44:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: I mean that makes sense.
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: I only started smelling stuff when COVID came out.
- 44:08SPEAKER_04: Everyone was like, I can't smell.
- 44:09SPEAKER_04: I was like, that's been my life the whole 10 years.
- 44:11SPEAKER_04: Now I'm fine.
- 44:12SPEAKER_04: What's everything?
- 44:13SPEAKER_04: What changed?
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: What changed?
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: What did you did you do anything to change it?
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Did you go did you go see someone to no?
- 44:19SPEAKER_04: I think the curse just lifted.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: That's a 10-year curse.
- 44:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 44:23SPEAKER_01: It's like a 10-year curse of a minor inconvenience.
- 44:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:26SPEAKER_04: Whereas Q.
- 44:27SPEAKER_04: Really annoying though.
- 44:27SPEAKER_04: A lot of people going, can you smell that?
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: I mean, as someone with like possibly a deviated septum, like I've never officially been diagnosed with it, but I'm sure I've got one.
- 44:37SPEAKER_01: I snore a lot.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 44:38SPEAKER_01: Can't breathe that well.
- 44:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:40SPEAKER_01: I feel your pain.
- 44:43SPEAKER_00: But um, how do we go into that?
- 44:46SPEAKER_04: Oh, he's also got cursed by a wit.
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: Uh how I can't remember how we even got into that.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: Insomnia, I'm sure.
- 44:54SPEAKER_04: But I yeah, Gabby Best, I know, has insomnia.
- 44:59SPEAKER_04: She did a show about it.
- 45:00SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 45:01SPEAKER_04: Um.
- 45:02SPEAKER_04: About the amount of people that come up to her and go, have you tried you tried a podcast?
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: Um, stuff like that.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, nothing will ever work.
- 45:11SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 45:12SPEAKER_01: He doesn't look that tired.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: No, but I think he's had it for a while.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: I think he's kind of used to it now.
- 45:18SPEAKER_01: He doesn't look tired at all.
- 45:19SPEAKER_01: He always says he's tired.
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: Well you would.
- 45:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: I don't know that.
- 45:24SPEAKER_01: There was a point, I remember there was a point at Fringe one year, he would like um I was like in the same room as him and would see him every day in the in the green room, and he would just be like, Yeah, didn't sleep last night.
- 45:34SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna take a try and take a nap on the floor here, just ignore me.
- 45:38SPEAKER_01: How long how long's you got to nap?
- 45:41SPEAKER_01: It would have been like an hour before the show.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: Oh, I see.
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, fine.
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:44SPEAKER_04: Not like 15 minutes.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Fine, fine, fine.
- 45:47SPEAKER_01: No.
- 45:47SPEAKER_04: I'm used to like doing get-ins that are 15 15 minutes.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 45:51SPEAKER_01: Well, because of what an improv show, you don't need to.
- 45:54SPEAKER_04: Oh no, I mean before that when I was doing plays and stuff.
- 45:56SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, well, string versus space.
- 45:58SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, string versus, for example.
- 46:00SPEAKER_04: You had a 15-minute Yeah, 15 minutes to get, I don't know, one of those.
- 46:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, 15 minute get in is it, yeah, like that's pretty normal, but like you weren't showing up early or anything.
- 46:09SPEAKER_04: No.
- 46:10SPEAKER_04: There was no space.
- 46:11SPEAKER_04: The the dressing room was just full of like stuff, props.
- 46:14SPEAKER_04: Which rooms costume.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: I'm not good at rooms.
- 46:18SPEAKER_01: You can't remember what venue like venues you were, even like pleasants or yeah, pleasants, but I don't know which one.
- 46:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, no, I mean yeah, yeah, they're all kind of simple.
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: They're all the rooms are the same.
- 46:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, apart from the grand, which is a 750 seat, and I need to sell it three times.
- 46:34SPEAKER_04: Fucking hell.
- 46:35SPEAKER_04: I'll be alright.
- 46:36SPEAKER_04: Um and you've got three days.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: No.
- 46:40SPEAKER_01: What what day is that today?
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: Monday.
- 46:42SPEAKER_01: I've got three days.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: Um well, by the time this is out, it would have all been over.
- 46:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: It's all over.
- 46:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: And I'm sure you would have sold it out.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: Should we talk about how well it went?
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 46:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was a huge success.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: Sold out.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: I'll put it up on the yeah.
- 46:59SPEAKER_01: Olivia Coleman came, sold out Clive Owen showed up.
- 47:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: Who knew?
- 47:04SPEAKER_04: Who knew he'd be he'd be out, he'd be in Edinburgh at the same time?
- 47:07SPEAKER_01: He's just looking for work.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: We got clothes.
- 47:13SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, sorry, back to the film because we got like no time at all.
- 47:16SPEAKER_01: But like um, you yeah, yeah.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: Anything that you remember specifically about this film that you want to talk about that like Um There are so many themes in it.
- 47:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 47:28SPEAKER_04: The like the religion, the money, the um father figure, yeah, the protective nature, the what you've done in your past, sins of the past.
- 47:40SPEAKER_01: Sin yeah, it's really heavy on the sins of the past.
- 47:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 47:43SPEAKER_01: And then like how that affects you, because especially that with the Mark Anthony character, and like how that affects him, and he's just like repents for his sins by shooting himself, and it's like the bullet will decide if you're worthy of survival, essentially.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: The swimming, the swimming's great, that's really interesting, and apparently like it wasn't even supposed to be that, but then the um Tony Scott had gone to his niece's like swimming uh compositions or something like that, and like he'd been like he was like, Oh, that would actually work in the film.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: Right, yeah.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: So it wasn't even supposed to be in it.
- 48:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, it did work, yeah.
- 48:17SPEAKER_04: Um and the soundtrack, the Clair de Loon, Claire de Loon, yeah, Claire de Loon.
- 48:24SPEAKER_04: That's that's that specific man on fire version, yeah.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: Perfect, and then apparently it's like a lot of nine-inch nails.
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, really?
- 48:30SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, yeah, I can yeah.
- 48:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, which I didn't even realise, but it makes sense.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, good soundtrack, yeah.
- 48:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, great.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Really fun.
- 48:38SPEAKER_00: It's like um, it's I wonder, uh Who's the mum again?
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: The mum is Rudder Mitchell.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: This Australian actress.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: She was she used to be in a lot as well.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: Where's she now?
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: What's she doing?
- 48:54SPEAKER_01: She's still doing stuff, but like not things I've ever I've heard of, but she's still in things.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: She was in She was in London Has Fallen.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you saw that.
- 49:05SPEAKER_00: The one with Jamie Fox?
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: No, it was uh Morgan Freeman and uh Gerald Butler.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: Gerald Butler.
- 49:16SPEAKER_00: What am I thinking of?
- 49:17SPEAKER_00: Jamie Foxx.
- 49:18SPEAKER_00: Jamie Fox and Gerald Butler.
- 49:20SPEAKER_01: That is uh oh, um, what is it called?
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: It was just I was just talking about that the other day.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: That is where can I find it now?
- 49:33SPEAKER_00: Who's the president?
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: Jamie Foxx is a president.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: And Gerald Butler's like security or something like that.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: Law abiding citizen?
- 49:42SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 49:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:45SPEAKER_00: That's a fun movie.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: That's that one thinking of, maybe.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: That's the one with the two of them.
- 49:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: Is he playing does one of them play the president?
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: Uh one of them plays very similar to this.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: Clyde Shelton is an honorable family man until the day his wife and daughter are murdered in a home invasion, he hosts for justice.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: But a rising prosecutor named Rick Nick Rice cuts a deal with one of the killers in exchange for testimony.
- 50:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not thinking of that at all.
- 50:17SPEAKER_00: What the film does Jamie Foxx play the president?
- 50:22SPEAKER_00: Jamie Foxx plays the president.
- 50:26SPEAKER_00: White House down.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:28SPEAKER_00: Who's the other guy?
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: Uh Channing Tatum.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, Channing Tatum.
- 50:32SPEAKER_01: I've not seen that.
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: Uh I think it might be a piece of shit.
- 50:38SPEAKER_04: What's the rating on that?
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: 52.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: Higher than this.
- 50:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, well.
- 50:43SPEAKER_04: That's that shows me.
- 50:45SPEAKER_04: Um I don't really remember that too well.
- 50:50SPEAKER_04: But um seems I love Channel Tatum.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Channel Tatum's great, yeah.
- 50:55SPEAKER_04: I think he's.
- 50:56SPEAKER_04: I actually, when I look at a career, and I go, like, who would I want my career most to be like?
- 51:03SPEAKER_04: I think it's Channel Tatum.
- 51:04SPEAKER_04: Really?
- 51:05SPEAKER_04: Excluding Magic Mike.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: But excluding Magic Mike?
- 51:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: I'm 37.
- 51:11SPEAKER_04: So?
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: He's older.
- 51:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it wasn't when he started.
- 51:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, probably, yeah, I guess so.
- 51:16SPEAKER_04: But like, in terms of doing drama, doing comedies, yeah, doing like um Marvel.
- 51:23SPEAKER_04: He's done it all, yeah.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: He he really has done it all.
- 51:26SPEAKER_04: All of that.
- 51:27SPEAKER_04: And then and now doing like biopics or um uh true stories and stuff like that.
- 51:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:35SPEAKER_04: Like, I'd love to do all that.
- 51:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:37SPEAKER_04: Have you seen Ruth Man?
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 51:40SPEAKER_01: That was so fun.
- 51:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:42SPEAKER_01: And again, like true story.
- 51:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 51:44SPEAKER_01: That's the dream.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that was such a fun, that's such such an interesting story.
- 51:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it is.
- 51:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 51:49SPEAKER_04: And that's the thing, like, finding those interesting stories and framing them in a way that like makes people want to watch them, but also they're not just like, oh, this is a good film.
- 51:58SPEAKER_04: They're like, oh, this is a really interesting story.
- 52:00SPEAKER_04: Like, I want to find out about the guy behind it.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:03SPEAKER_04: Um, I'd love to do stuff.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:06SPEAKER_01: Well, I can see you doing moving into that stuff.
- 52:08SPEAKER_04: Well, I hope so.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: Someone's got to write it.
- 52:10SPEAKER_01: Me and Clive Owen on the roof of my door.
- 52:12SPEAKER_01: You and Clive Owen in an act in your next action film.
- 52:14SPEAKER_01: I'd love that.
- 52:15SPEAKER_04: That'd be great.
- 52:17SPEAKER_04: Might be the dream.
- 52:18SPEAKER_04: I um I had an idea for a thing once with me and Ben Wilbond.
- 52:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 52:23SPEAKER_04: Um, and then it turned into something else completely.
- 52:26SPEAKER_04: But the original idea is still like far enough from the thing that it became that I can pitch that as a new thing.
- 52:32SPEAKER_04: So um, Clive, once again, holler at me.
- 52:36SPEAKER_04: Poor Ben.
- 52:37SPEAKER_04: Ben's Ben will be alright.
- 52:39SPEAKER_04: He's got that ghost money.
- 52:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 52:40SPEAKER_04: He'll be fine.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 52:43SPEAKER_01: Um, is there anything else about the film that you can think of?
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: Because we I know we haven't really talked about it, but also like, I don't know how much you there is to talk about the specific film, other than like what we've we have talked about.
- 52:57SPEAKER_01: It's a it's uh Mark Anthony is like really good in this as well, I thought.
- 53:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he is.
- 53:01SPEAKER_01: And I've never seen him in anything else.
- 53:03SPEAKER_04: That's a very good point.
- 53:05SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 53:06SPEAKER_04: What's he up to?
- 53:08SPEAKER_04: Apart from selling out stadium tours and divorced expensive divorce, right?
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Probably I would imagine so.
- 53:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: For both of them, surely.
- 53:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 53:21SPEAKER_00: Uh what is he up to?
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: He hasn't been in a film.
- 53:28SPEAKER_00: Well, he's barely ever in films.
- 53:30SPEAKER_01: He was in Man on Fire, and then like the next thing he was in was in the heights.
- 53:34unknown: Oh.
- 53:35SPEAKER_04: What's the uh difference of the year difference with that?
- 53:38SPEAKER_04: Like six years.
- 53:40SPEAKER_00: It's uh six 17 years.
- 53:45SPEAKER_00: He's not an actor.
- 53:47SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 53:48SPEAKER_01: He's got no interest in acting, I think.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 53:52unknown: Interesting.
- 53:52SPEAKER_04: He's selling out them stadiums, he doesn't care.
- 53:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's he's made his money.
- 53:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 53:57SPEAKER_01: He's still making his money.
- 53:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's still making his money.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: Um we haven't even talked about Christopher Walkin, who's just great in this.
- 54:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he is.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: He's just like such a good actor.
- 54:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 54:09SPEAKER_04: He's slightly Denzel's always got that like friend from the past who's slightly shady.
- 54:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 54:17SPEAKER_04: Um in flight, there's a good example of that with um Dan Goodman.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:21SPEAKER_04: Dan Goodman?
- 54:22SPEAKER_04: John Goodman.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: John Goodman.
- 54:24SPEAKER_04: Um where yeah, he's just got these slightly shady friends from the past.
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: So true.
- 54:32SPEAKER_04: Why is that?
- 54:34SPEAKER_04: Maybe that's uh maybe that's in his contract.
- 54:36SPEAKER_01: Um so he's appeared like the better person.
- 54:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 54:40SPEAKER_04: But yeah, Christopher Walken is great in that.
- 54:43SPEAKER_04: Um, and what they say is some of like, do you think do you think they'll ever forgive us for what we did?
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 54:49SPEAKER_04: Um, and I'm like, what did you do?
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 54:52SPEAKER_01: And maybe that's part of it, is like, tell us more.
- 54:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: Don't hold back on this stuff.
- 54:57SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 54:58SPEAKER_04: Christopher Walken is in another one of my favorites.
- 55:03SPEAKER_04: That's not in those top three.
- 55:05SPEAKER_04: Can I try and guess?
- 55:06SPEAKER_00: You can try.
- 55:07SPEAKER_00: Is it one do you think I'll get?
- 55:09SPEAKER_00: I don't think you will know.
- 55:12SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 55:13SPEAKER_00: Two more guesses.
- 55:14SPEAKER_00: Catch me if you can.
- 55:15SPEAKER_00: Nope.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: One more.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: Come on, you can do it.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: Uh well, it's not gonna be Deer Hunter then, because you said I won't get it.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: Uh can't think of anything else he's in.
- 55:30SPEAKER_00: Can't think of anything he's in now.
- 55:32SPEAKER_00: I have to press you for time.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, go on.
- 55:33SPEAKER_00: Go on, just tell me.
- 55:34SPEAKER_00: What's your final guess?
- 55:36SPEAKER_00: Um uh Deer Hunter.
- 55:38SPEAKER_00: Seven Psychopaths.
- 55:40SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: I forgot he was in that.
- 55:44SPEAKER_00: Seven Psychopaths?
- 55:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:46SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 55:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 55:48SPEAKER_00: One of your favourite films.
- 55:49SPEAKER_00: One of my favourite films.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 55:52SPEAKER_01: I can see you being in one of those films as well.
- 55:54SPEAKER_04: I'd love to.
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: I can see you being in one of his films.
- 55:57SPEAKER_00: I don't know if there's black people in his films.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: Do you think of any?
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: Because I can't.
- 56:07SPEAKER_00: I can't think of one.
- 56:11SPEAKER_00: What's up with that?
- 56:12SPEAKER_00: Hmm.
- 56:16SPEAKER_00: To be discussed.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, I can't but I'd love to.
- 56:20SPEAKER_04: I'd love to.
- 56:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:22SPEAKER_04: Oh no, hang on, Clark Peters is in uh seven billboards.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Yes, he is.
- 56:27SPEAKER_00: That's that's all I've got.
- 56:30SPEAKER_01: But he's also but that is also probably not one you want to be in.
- 56:36SPEAKER_04: No, also that had to be a that like that's not like oh the character could be any.
- 56:42SPEAKER_04: It's like that's a black character.
- 56:44SPEAKER_04: It's written, it's written as black.
- 56:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 56:46SPEAKER_04: Um what did I just say?
- 56:49SPEAKER_04: Seven billboards.
- 56:50SPEAKER_04: Three billboards.
- 56:50SPEAKER_04: Three billboards.
- 56:51SPEAKER_04: Because you were talking about seven psychopaths.
- 56:52SPEAKER_03: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:54SPEAKER_04: Um, but uh yeah, Christopher Walken.
- 57:00SPEAKER_04: Great in that.
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: How old is he now?
- 57:01SPEAKER_04: He's got to be 80s, probably.
- 57:03SPEAKER_04: He's got to be 86.
- 57:07SPEAKER_00: 83?
- 57:08SPEAKER_01: 83?
- 57:10SPEAKER_04: 83 And I win I win Christopher Walken.
- 57:14SPEAKER_04: I own him now.
- 57:15SPEAKER_04: He's mine now.
- 57:16SPEAKER_04: When's his birthday?
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: Uh 31st of March, 1943.
- 57:21SPEAKER_01: 1943.
- 57:22SPEAKER_00: 31st of March.
- 57:25SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 57:26SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 57:28SPEAKER_00: It was almost April Fool's Day.
- 57:32SPEAKER_00: It was almost it was almost a joke.
- 57:38SPEAKER_04: Oh, good on the guy.
- 57:39SPEAKER_01: I can't believe I didn't say pulp fiction or click or well, you would have still been wrong.
- 57:44SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 57:46SPEAKER_04: Um yeah, but he's great in it.
- 57:48SPEAKER_04: Everyone's great in it.
- 57:49SPEAKER_01: Everyone's great in it.
- 57:49SPEAKER_01: And Tony Scott.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: Such a good action director.
- 57:53SPEAKER_01: Again, like we were talking about taking a pill on one, two, three.
- 57:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 57:56SPEAKER_01: Um he also did what else did he do?
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: True romance, which is such a classic.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: Have you ever seen it?
- 58:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:04SPEAKER_01: So good.
- 58:04SPEAKER_04: When Gary Oldman was black.
- 58:06SPEAKER_01: No, when he wanted to be black.
- 58:08SPEAKER_04: I couldn't tell the difference.
- 58:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was that was great.
- 58:14SPEAKER_01: Another Denzel Washington film, Deja Vu.
- 58:17SPEAKER_04: Love deja vu.
- 58:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 58:20SPEAKER_04: Really, uh, I could talk for hours about the possibility of those of that machine.
- 58:30SPEAKER_00: Like, how?
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: How could that possibly work?
- 58:37SPEAKER_01: I can't remember this film.
- 58:39SPEAKER_04: Deja vu is when he goes back.
- 58:40SPEAKER_04: He looks a bit like John Bega in that picture.
- 58:42SPEAKER_01: He does.
- 58:43SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, like an old John Beggar.
- 58:46unknown: Yeah.
- 58:47SPEAKER_04: Uh Deja Vu is when he goes back in time to stop a woman getting murdered.
- 58:55SPEAKER_00: Uh there's like an no, he's he goes back to stop a bomb.
- 59:01SPEAKER_01: Stop a bomb.
- 59:02SPEAKER_01: Preventing the crime, it says.
- 59:03SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 59:03SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:04SPEAKER_04: But then in it, he falls in love with a woman in the past.
- 59:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:08SPEAKER_01: So Jim Cavisel's in it as a terrorist.
- 59:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 59:15SPEAKER_04: There's so many reasons why that film does not work.
- 59:20SPEAKER_01: But you love it in love.
- 59:22SPEAKER_04: There's a scene where he's trying to explain, he's trying to find out if like what he's seen in the past is real or not.
- 59:31SPEAKER_04: Or it's like, is that happening now or is that not?
- 59:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:34SPEAKER_04: Is she dead or alive?
- 59:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 59:36SPEAKER_04: And no one's answering him.
- 59:37SPEAKER_04: And he's like, is she dead or is she alive?
- 59:40SPEAKER_04: And everyone's sort of like being shifty about it.
- 59:42SPEAKER_04: And he picks up a chair and throws it at the screen.
- 59:44SPEAKER_04: And he's like, this screen is now dead.
- 59:48SPEAKER_04: Is she dead or is she alive?
- 59:50SPEAKER_04: I was like, that's great.
- 59:51SPEAKER_04: There's a woman in that that's also in um in Get Out.
- 59:57SPEAKER_04: The woman that plays uh she's one of the light mission control people.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_04: Black woman, I can't remember her name.
- 1:00:04SPEAKER_04: Um she's in Get Out, she plays a police officer that like when the friend comes to uh report his friend missing.
- 1:00:13SPEAKER_04: Lil Rel?
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_04: When he goes to Lil Rel, yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_04: When he goes to report.
- 1:00:17SPEAKER_01: I remember that scene.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: Not listed in the cast.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: Uh is what I'm looking at.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: But you know who it is?
- 1:00:24SPEAKER_01: Elle Fanning.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: Is she?
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_00: In what?
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_00: Deja vu?
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_00: Play someone called Janice.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_00: Don't remember that at all.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_00: Um worked with both of them.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_00: But we know which one he likes the most.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_00: We know.
- 1:00:48SPEAKER_01: She's low down the castle, so we know.
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_01: Very quickly to wrap up.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_01: Um a film that is well reviewed and well loved that you actually think is a bad film.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_00: A film that's well reviewed, well loved, that I think is a bad film.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I there are not there are not that many films that I'm like, bad film, get it off.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_00: Or you just don't enjoy it.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:01:23SPEAKER_04: I mean, I s I tend to stay away from like genres that I don't really like enjoy.
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_04: Like sci-fi.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you don't enjoy sci-fi.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_04: Sci-fi like fantasy, really.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_04: Space.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:38SPEAKER_04: I'm not interested in space.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_04: Don't give a shit about it.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_04: And I was like, watch Interstellar.
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_04: I'm like, no.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_04: I don't want to.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_01: So this is an even bigger take where you just will not watch them at all.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_04: I don't give a shit about The Martian.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_04: Like.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: The Martian's great, it's not even that unrealistic.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_01: I've I've I haven't seen it.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_04: Um just like space stuff is not for me at all.
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_04: Space, um war I'm sort of warming to.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: Oh.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_04: War I wasn't into.
- 1:02:09SPEAKER_04: And then I watched 1917 and I said, oh my gosh, this guy's having a stinker.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_04: He's having a terrible time.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I did like that.
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_04: Um I think 1917 pulled me back in into the war stuff.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_04: But then again, I mean, I love Courage Under Fire.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_04: Another Denzel classic.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_01: Which I believe is Tony Scott, actually.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_01: It's the first time they work together.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_04: Is it?
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_04: 97?
- 1:02:35SPEAKER_01: Five.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_04: 95.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: 95.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 1:02:38SPEAKER_04: You just knew it off.
- 1:02:39SPEAKER_04: I saw it, don't you?
- 1:02:40SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, so I sort of tend to stay away from those genres, but I'm trying to think.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_04: There must be something that there must be a film.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_04: Give me some some films that everyone loves.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_01: I mean, if we're gonna go with like the sci-fi sort of route, there's like Star Wars, there's never seen it.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_01: Lord of the Rings.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_01: I saw the first one.
- 1:03:02SPEAKER_01: Didn't like it.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_01: Didn't care for it.
- 1:03:04SPEAKER_01: Didn't care about it.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_04: I was like, oh, that guy shoots arrows, that's cool.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_04: And apart from that, wasn't interested.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_01: Uh a lot of people are saying Dune at the moment.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_04: Never seen it.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wouldn't have expected you to go and see that.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's the same sort of stuff, isn't it?
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_04: Desert space.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_01: Very similar.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_01: That's one I just don't get.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_04: I'll be in it though.
- 1:03:20unknown: Yeah.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: Give me that call, I'll be there.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: Of course.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, big time.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: Uh what about any of like the Marvel movies or anything like that?
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_04: Um Love Iron Man.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_04: That doesn't even count, does it?
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_04: No.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_04: Uh, which one is it?
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_04: Iron Man 2?
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_04: Which one's Ben K Ben Kingsley in?
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_02: Three.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_04: Love that film.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_04: Um another film that I love that sorry, the opposite of what you're asking me.
- 1:03:47SPEAKER_04: Another film that I love that other people don't.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_04: Mr.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_04: and Mrs.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_04: Smith.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_01: The original Mr.
- 1:03:53SPEAKER_01: and Mrs.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: Smith.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_01: Again, so there's something about like you love a film that then got made into a TV show.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_04: I hated that TV show.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: No, it was not good.
- 1:04:01SPEAKER_04: I watched every bit of it.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_04: It was so good.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_04: And I hated the whole thing.
- 1:04:05SPEAKER_04: So boring.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_04: Can that be my answer?
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_04: I hated that.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_04: I want everyone to know how much I hated that.
- 1:04:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_04: Um, if it comes back, I'll be in it.
- 1:04:15SPEAKER_04: And it's coming back.
- 1:04:17SPEAKER_04: And Skullgard's in it at the beginning.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_04: For no reason.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_04: For like one scene.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_04: Really weird.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_04: Because I was like, oh, obviously these will come back, or there'll be a flashback to this.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_04: So nope.
- 1:04:28unknown: Yeah.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_04: Um, I yeah, I hate it.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_01: It's coming back for another series with two completely different people.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_04: Some great artists in it.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_04: Sharon Horgan was in it.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_04: Really didn't like that.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I didn't enjoy it at all either.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_01: But like, again, I love everyone in it.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_01: It's just not a good show.
- 1:04:45SPEAKER_01: I didn't really understand.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:48unknown: Yeah.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_00: And it was supposed to be Phoebe Waller uh Bridge.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_00: Bridge.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_00: I was gonna say Bridges.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_01: Um, yeah, she was supposed to be in it originally.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_01: And then she dropped out.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_01: She didn't fancy it.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_01: They wrote they wrote it together and then she dropped out.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:05SPEAKER_01: Fair enough.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_01: It's interesting.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_04: Still got a millions?
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_04: Um, yeah, I I can't think of a film, but that series uh uh is gonna be my answer.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's fair enough.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: I think people did like it, so that makes sense, yeah.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_01: That's such a oh, it's so boring.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_01: So, so boring.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_01: It's such a letdown compared to like again, like the films.
- 1:05:26SPEAKER_03: The film I think it's great.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_01: The film's fun.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_01: It's very like again, like a very similar time to this as well.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_01: And yeah, wasn't well reviewed.
- 1:05:37SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_04: I watched Miss Congeniality earlier this year.
