- 0:00Speaker 1: So, Gina, yesterday I was going to ask you, so
- 0:03Speaker 1: did you do what you said you were going to do?
- 0:05Speaker 2: So I was telling you guys about my viewing of
- 0:08Speaker 2: the Academy Awards. I watched the whole thing, and one
- 0:12Speaker 2: of my big takeaways from the Academy Awards is I
- 0:15Speaker 2: need to give Burger King another try, because because they
- 0:19Speaker 2: were big advertising.
- 0:20Speaker 1: They're susceptible to advertising.
- 0:22Speaker 2: It worked. They had a really good ad that ran
- 0:26Speaker 2: several times, and not just that, like Matt Barry, the
- 0:28Speaker 2: announcer he a couple of times said I brought to you.
- 0:31Speaker 3: By a Burger Kids.
- 0:32Speaker 2: They spent a lot of money on the Academy Awards
- 0:35Speaker 2: and the King. It worked for me because the the
- 0:39Speaker 2: thrust of the of the ad was, hey.
- 0:43Speaker 3: You know, you know we've screwed up.
- 0:45Speaker 2: We were we were a big deal when we first
- 0:47Speaker 2: came around, and we sort of have been neglecting it.
- 0:51Speaker 1: And we're so you went. Now I'm looking at the
- 0:54Speaker 1: menu and I probably can't guess what you were going
- 0:58Speaker 1: to have what you had. You probably didn't have the
- 1:02Speaker 1: Texas double Whopper. No, you probably I know you didn't
- 1:06Speaker 1: have the Whopper with cheese.
- 1:07Speaker 4: No.
- 1:08Speaker 3: No, Because Bill at Burger King.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You can have it your way.
- 1:12Speaker 3: You can have it your way.
- 1:13Speaker 4: So it was meat and bread.
- 1:15Speaker 1: So is that all you had? I had one meat
- 1:17Speaker 1: patty and two slices of bread.
- 1:19Speaker 2: I had a whopper ketchup only. Yes, if you go
- 1:24Speaker 2: to X ninety six dot com slash live.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Umm, well you got a crown.
- 1:28Speaker 1: I gave you a crown.
- 1:29Speaker 2: So I pulled up to the Burger King. I haven't
- 1:33Speaker 2: been to Burger King. I don't remember the last time
- 1:35Speaker 2: I ate a Burger King. It's probably been fifteen twenty.
- 1:40Speaker 3: Years since I've eaten at a Burger King.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Sorted a whopper ketchup only, and I can have it
- 1:46Speaker 2: my way.
- 1:47Speaker 3: They don't. There's no judgment there with how I want that?
- 1:50Speaker 4: Okay?
- 1:51Speaker 3: And I got an order of onion rings.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what you say, there's no judgment, but
- 1:55Speaker 1: they do judge you, you think, so, Yeah, they just
- 1:57Speaker 1: don't say it.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Because he's like, great, now I gotta make one.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Because one of the things that, by the way, Burger
- 2:04Speaker 2: King is not advertising with us.
- 2:06Speaker 3: This is not an ad for Burger King.
- 2:08Speaker 4: We're gonna send them a bill.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I should send him a bill.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But one of the things they changed is They used
- 2:14Speaker 2: to take the whopper and just wrap it up in
- 2:16Speaker 2: paper and throw it in the bag and it'd get
- 2:18Speaker 2: all smushed.
- 2:19Speaker 4: That was one of the things in the commercial.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, uh, it's it now comes in a box like
- 2:24Speaker 2: it should.
- 2:24Speaker 3: All right, And I pull up to the window.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Oh, by the way, when you order, I had like
- 2:31Speaker 2: a whopper ketchup bully in order to onion rings and
- 2:33Speaker 2: a diet coke. And the nice lady that worked there said,
- 2:36Speaker 2: all right, all right, you rule.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Okay, that's what you're supposed.
- 2:42Speaker 3: To that's what you're supposed to say.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Sure, the King, you should look at these Hamburgers carry
- 2:48Speaker 1: You could really go for a fully loaded cross sandwich
- 2:52Speaker 1: cross sandwich. Yeah, fully loaded baby.
- 2:55Speaker 2: And so I pull up to the window and my
- 2:57Speaker 2: my wopper ketchup only is ready, and the the nice
- 3:00Speaker 2: lady at the at the window said, do you want
- 3:03Speaker 2: a crown?
- 3:04Speaker 5: Well, sure you have to ask no, Yeah, I mean
- 3:09Speaker 5: give me a bond. I'm sure if there's a kid
- 3:13Speaker 5: in the car, they just automatically give you one.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And I said, but you bet. And if you go
- 3:17Speaker 2: to x ninety six dot com slash live you can
- 3:19Speaker 2: see my my crown.
- 3:21Speaker 1: This is very quaint. They have on the menu something
- 3:24Speaker 1: called a hamburger.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Oh, where's your crown?
- 3:30Speaker 4: Like right now?
- 3:31Speaker 3: Oh, it's in my car. Do you want me to
- 3:32Speaker 3: go get it?
- 3:33Speaker 4: Well, you know, I don't know why you didn't bring
- 3:35Speaker 4: it in.
- 3:35Speaker 2: I forgot until I got up here. That I did
- 3:38Speaker 2: is I don't have it here you want. I have
- 3:41Speaker 2: had chicken fries in the past. So my big takeaway is, okay,
- 3:47Speaker 2: we we we like the like restaurant hamburger. You know, Bill,
- 3:51Speaker 2: you were talking about this. Yeah, if you're gonna have
- 3:54Speaker 2: a burger, you want like.
- 3:55Speaker 1: A go to Lucky thirteen, a really good.
- 3:58Speaker 2: But sometimes you're on to go. You don't have time
- 4:01Speaker 2: for that. You need to drive through and you need
- 4:03Speaker 2: to drive through burger. I would I would pick that
- 4:06Speaker 2: burger over a McDonald's burger.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think, well you need to you need to now
- 4:10Speaker 1: today you need to go have a big arch burger.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Yeah. See we gotta compare now. But you'll she's really
- 4:17Speaker 4: the wrong person to be doing it.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I'm you, really, if you cared about this show, you
- 4:23Speaker 2: would go.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I think I'll go today.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Well, I mean you go to Burger King, get the
- 4:28Speaker 5: whopper with everything, and then you go to McDonald's and
- 4:32Speaker 5: get you know, and and say it this way, I'll
- 4:35Speaker 5: have the arch burger. And when they say what do
- 4:37Speaker 5: you want on that, you say, chef's discretion.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So so if I go to Burger King today, do
- 4:45Speaker 1: I get? Do I just get the regular whopper? Just
- 4:48Speaker 1: get a whopper, not a double whopper, a whopper with
- 4:51Speaker 1: cheese or I mean whatever. I don't. I don't particularly
- 4:55Speaker 1: care for cheese on my hamburgers for some reason. I
- 4:58Speaker 1: used to like it, but I don't like it. So
- 5:00Speaker 1: they got it. They got They got the big Fish.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Which isn't the flea a fish?
- 5:06Speaker 1: No, it's well flay, it's flay, it's a big fish.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I don't know. They still have the Impossible Burger, which
- 5:13Speaker 1: is not meat, right, No, that's.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I wonder how many of those they sell, really you
- 5:18Speaker 3: think they?
- 5:19Speaker 1: I think probably there is a certain it.
- 5:22Speaker 4: It's still on the menu, I imagine.
- 5:24Speaker 1: But you think, well that there are people who want
- 5:28Speaker 1: who don't want to eat meat, but they want a
- 5:30Speaker 1: hamburger like thing and they'll go get that.
- 5:33Speaker 3: They just don't seem like the type of people that would.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Go to sure they are yeah, yeah, I mean, if
- 5:38Speaker 1: it's available, if you make it available for vegans or vegetarians.
- 5:43Speaker 1: They'll go get it, aren't they too?
- 5:45Speaker 3: Aren't they too weak to go get it?
- 5:49Speaker 1: Gina, I know several vegetarians that could kick your ass
- 5:52Speaker 1: in two seconds.
- 5:58Speaker 5: You want to talk impossible, that's impossible to eat.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They got the classic Royal Crispy chicken. Now, the the
- 6:11Speaker 1: biscuit looks really good. I don't know why it's called
- 6:14Speaker 1: the SEC biscuit.
- 6:17Speaker 3: SEC.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Well, that's probably a s f C s f C biscuit.
- 6:24Speaker 1: It must be sausage and yeah, s FC biscuit. I
- 6:30Speaker 1: don't know. It looks delicious. It's a breakfast item, cheese
- 6:34Speaker 1: and egg and sauce, Southern fried chicken. Ah, it's chicken
- 6:38Speaker 1: bas chicken biscuit, chicken sandwich. Well, that's sausage though, that's
- 6:44Speaker 1: just what it says here. Oh okay, all right, maybe
- 6:46Speaker 1: it is. I guess it's not us. They have two
- 6:50Speaker 1: different kinds of onion rings, they do, I think, Oh no,
- 6:55Speaker 1: now I was looking at that wrong talking.
- 6:57Speaker 2: About now the onion ring there is like an onion
- 7:01Speaker 2: flavored ring. You bite into it and there's not really
- 7:03Speaker 2: an onion's.
- 7:06Speaker 5: And they're all perfectly around. Yeah, that means that they
- 7:09Speaker 5: were It means they were frozen.
- 7:11Speaker 1: And they and they have onion flavoring.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not a great onion ring.
- 7:16Speaker 4: That's not any way to go.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Why didn't you get fries?
- 7:20Speaker 3: I like it because I like onion rings.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Well, you like fries too, I do.
- 7:23Speaker 3: But but I went.
- 7:27Speaker 2: So I went to the one on on Highland Drive, Okay.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And what I should have done is got the whopper
- 7:33Speaker 2: there and then gone across the street to Crown Burger
- 7:36Speaker 2: to get some onion rings, because yes, they have better onion.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And carry your wopper into Crown Burger and sit at
- 7:41Speaker 1: the table and eat your whopper with their onion rings.
- 7:45Speaker 5: My wife loves burgers, but she's been vegetarian for eight years.
- 7:48Speaker 5: She's had the impossible burger many times.
- 7:51Speaker 3: And she could kick my ass.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah. I think there are a lot of people like that.
- 7:54Speaker 4: SEC biscuits sausage, egg and cheese.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Oh okay, that's Seccurity and Exchange Commission biscuits.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Oh I guess I could I read that as an
- 8:06Speaker 1: an f and not any Yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 4: You can get frings at Burger King. It's a mix
- 8:12Speaker 4: of fries and rings. There you go, Gina.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Okay, So I'll go back. I mean not today, but I.
- 8:21Speaker 5: Think the best onion rings I've had if they're not
- 8:24Speaker 5: at Lucky thirteen, they're at Yanni's Greek.
- 8:28Speaker 4: Oh yeah, that's a good onion ring.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Katie loves that.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Oh you know what they what they got at Burger
- 8:33Speaker 1: King Carry They've got the Rodeo Burger.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Which is can you hang on to it for more
- 8:40Speaker 4: than nine seconds?
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's a it's a it's a hamburger. And I think
- 8:45Speaker 1: it's got like Barbara and it's got it's got onion
- 8:49Speaker 1: rings on it.
- 8:53Speaker 5: By now and get a poster of Jean's Walls, the
- 8:58Speaker 5: Jean's Wall coloring book.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Yes, this is making me terribly hungry, now, I know.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Right well the doughnut critics coming in today, so it
- 9:05Speaker 2: is yeah, okay, thank goodness, just in time.
- 9:09Speaker 4: He's breaking.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Well you never know, he doesn't always bring donuts, that's true. Oh.
- 9:16Speaker 1: One other sort of related to not really related, but
- 9:20Speaker 1: you know how I was complaining that the bar X
- 9:22Speaker 1: sign they don't light it up anymore. For the last
- 9:25Speaker 1: week and a half, the bar X sign has been
- 9:27Speaker 1: on every morning. It's just for you, Bill, so thank you,
- 9:31Speaker 1: thank you for doing that. I missed seeing it. It
- 9:34Speaker 1: was it was dark for a long time. I don't
- 9:36Speaker 1: know why they've started leaving it on again.
- 9:40Speaker 5: Text here About a decade ago, I had a group
- 9:42Speaker 5: of seniors walking the class I was teaching thirty minutes late.
- 9:47Speaker 5: They knelt and handed me a Burger King crown. I
- 9:51Speaker 5: excused their tarny. I've kept that crown until I switched schools.
- 9:57Speaker 3: I applaud these children. I'll bring my crown up.
- 10:01Speaker 5: And here's the text. This show is so gastronomy we
- 10:07Speaker 5: are We're too gastronomic.
- 10:08Speaker 1: We're gonna get complaints.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Yep, Well what about you never take their sad orange
- 10:21Speaker 6: clown bat?
- 10:22Speaker 4: That's all you say?
- 10:24Speaker 1: Is there any other Are there any signs of the
- 10:26Speaker 1: Burger King in there, of the actual king himself.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Other than your.
- 10:31Speaker 1: No, because they got rid of it, so there's just nothing. Well,
- 10:35Speaker 1: then they shouldn't call it Burger King anymore. I why
- 10:38Speaker 1: not get a crown from the dethroned burger Kings?
- 10:41Speaker 4: No, I see. I think the thing is is that
- 10:43Speaker 4: when you go to Burger King, you you rule. Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 3: I think that's what that's the message. That's their new take.
- 10:50Speaker 4: Now you're the king, and if you buy over thirty
- 10:53Speaker 4: dollars worth of stuff. Yeah, you are the CEO of
- 10:58Speaker 4: for an entire hour.
- 11:01Speaker 1: It's interesting that they it seems to me that they've
- 11:04Speaker 1: tackled this head on in light of the McDonald's CEO
- 11:08Speaker 1: that's doing that video.
- 11:09Speaker 5: They say, all of their CEOs, Wendy's Burger King, they
- 11:13Speaker 5: all sent out videos of them eating their sandwiches.
- 11:16Speaker 3: You know who also did Bob Harmon?
- 11:19Speaker 4: Oh? Did he?
- 11:19Speaker 3: He did one for his That's a good burger.
- 11:22Speaker 4: That's a really good burger. How are their onion rings
- 11:26Speaker 4: over there?
- 11:27Speaker 3: They just have burgers and fries, but they fry them
- 11:30Speaker 3: and beef tallow, which.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I know you like the beef.
- 11:35Speaker 3: The only thing I agree with.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Him on, too bad. Beef tallow makes my wife ill,
- 11:43Speaker 1: so we can't we can't get
- 11:44Speaker 4: The beef that is to
