- 0:01It is easy, in fact, quite normal for an individual to turn
- 0:06toward Medical Treatments. Once an illness presents itself.
- 0:10The mindset of the entire Society is based on the idea
- 0:15that illness must be defeated and that medicine through its
- 0:19long history as increasingly gain powers and tools to defeat
- 0:24illnesses. With the Advent of antibiotics
- 0:28antiviral medicines, vaccines Western medicine has shown
- 0:33remarkable ability to address scourges that once ravaged
- 0:37Humanity. Such as smallpox the Bubonic
- 0:41plague and polio Vaccination results for what are termed
- 0:46childhood diseases, such as measles mumps rubella.
- 0:50Clearly have reduced the severity and incidents of such
- 0:54diseases. Wherever these vaccines have
- 0:57been deployed tetanus. And rabies have also been
- 1:01brought under substantial control with prompt vaccine
- 1:04treatment. It is not just Western medicine
- 1:07that has shown a remarkable ability to respond to illness.
- 1:11Ayurveda Saddam medicine, Chinese traditional medicine,
- 1:16shamanic medicines herbal cures abound and the profession of
- 1:21medicine in whatever form. It is practice has gained a
- 1:26reputation and substantial credibility.
- 1:30Even acute condition, such as simple headache, in digestion,
- 1:34Etc. Have seen the rise of medicines
- 1:37to take the pain away. Thus, we are inculcated in the
- 1:43idea that any bodily imbalance or difficulty, any illness
- 1:48should resort to the use of medicines, as a first line of
- 1:51action to quickly and effectively treat and respond to
- 1:55pain and disease. Of course, medicine has not
- 1:59solved all possible conditions, and has a less than Stellar
- 2:04performance on long-term. Chronic metabolic conditions,
- 2:08but they promised us that these conditions will come under
- 2:12control in the future. It is difficult.
- 2:16Therefore to overcome the suggestion that lies deeply
- 2:19embedded in our being, that medicine is the first and major,
- 2:22Curative power, and that we should turn to it at need SRI
- 2:27aurobindo in his own experience, relates to change that took
- 2:31place in his own outlook on the matter and the results he
- 2:35obtained through that change of view.
- 2:38He provides us courage to try a different approach when
- 2:42appropriate for us in dealing, with the pains and acute
- 2:46illnesses. That arise without negating the
- 2:49potential need or benefit of medicines under circumstances
- 2:54where the practitioner has not yet achieved full and complete
- 2:58freedom and Mastery over the body and its energies and immune
- 3:03powers. We may look upon the immune
- 3:06system as we do with building muscle, regular practice and
- 3:11effort in Reliance upon the innate capacities of the body,
- 3:15will eventually build up that strength and regular practice
- 3:19and effort. In Reliance upon the Divine
- 3:22force in the universe to provide a cure and restore and maintain
- 3:26Harmony in the body, will eventually allow us to
- 3:30experience that force in our lives and thereby find the True,
- 3:34Curative agent behind all the medicines SRI aurobindo notes
- 3:40quote for nearly 40 years behind the holy good.
- 3:45I was weekly in Constitution. I suffered constantly from the
- 3:49smaller and the greater ailments and mistook this curse for a
- 3:54burden that nature had laid upon me when I renounce the aid of
- 3:58medicines, then they began to depart from me, like,
- 4:02disappointed parasites. Then only I understood what a
- 4:06mighty force was the Natural Health within me and how much
- 4:11mightier yet the will and Faith exceeding, mind and which God
- 4:15meant to be the Divine support of our life in this body.
