- 0:00Aloha. Saturday morning in Hawaiʻi. Beautiful weather through the weekend—sunny skies, low humidity, mostly dry conditions across the islands.
- 1:53Windward slopes might catch an isolated shower, but leeward and south-facing coasts stay clear. Winds are moderate overall, though the Maui channels and Big Island leeward waters are getting stronger gusts—Small Craft Advisory is in effect through Sunday evening. If you're heading out on the water, watch for locally strong winds in the typical windy zones. Otherwise, it's a solid beach day.
- 2:13For swimmers and snorkelers, conditions are comfortable. Oʻahu's south shore is running 3.9 feet, Maui's around 3.2 feet, and the Big Island's smaller still at 2 feet—all manageable. The north shore is choppier at 4.5 feet, and Kauaʻi is hitting 4.6 feet, so watch for shore break and rip currents there.
- 2:28Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park has the Keanakākoʻi side of Kīlauea closed due to volcanic unrest. Kīpukapuaulu Trail is closed for hazardous trees and hanging limbs. Mauna Loa Road is closed past the second cattle guard for tree removal. Several sections are off limits, so know what's open before you go.
- 2:43If you're planning an Oʻahu hike today, our piece on short hikes breaks down the difference between distance and actual effort. Koko Crater and Diamond Head look similar on mileage, but one is a stair climb and one is not—terrain matters more than the numbers. The post uses real comparisons to help you choose what actually fits your day.
- 3:00Monday brings lighter winds in the morning, but afternoon clouds and scattered showers over leeward areas. A new south swell arrives Sunday and builds Monday through Wednesday. North shore swells improve mid-week, so if you're a surfer, Wednesday and beyond look better than today.
- 3:14Our Oʻahu Hike guide has more on what to expect this weekend. Catch you tomorrow morning.
